The State of 'The Black Quarterback': A Conversation with Donovan McNabb

"Over a decade ago my Business Partner Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon. I sat down to discuss. How can we stop? The labeling of black quarterbacks are dream was for some day they're not to be that description at all. I was blessed to sit down with Donovan. Mcnabb one of his men teas and proteges to discuss the status and progression of black quarterbacks in the NFL. This is entrepreneurs. The playbook hey I wanted to have a conversation about black quarterbacks and as you know it's been a big part of my career has warned being a client and then a partner of mine are dream. Ten years ago was that nobody would ever say black quarterback right but I think you know to this day that they don't use it as much but I see a hangover when I look at you not be in the hall of fame or the way that Warren's marketed because they don't want that story told about six years in Canada right right and then there's just an under Tony it's unintentional. It's like even with the metoo movement. Things go on aren't intentional. It's social development social. How can we help? Expediter accelerate people understanding the equality. That exists I you have to appreciate I don't think we're at a point where we appreciate the level of evolution. That's going on and I say that because he wanted to mention. Hey you know you were kind of guy that passed the torch in them like no. The torch was already late for Marlin Bristow Gilliam and dumb and James James Harris and those particular guys. It was then but it wasn't one that was accepted and then. I think when you mentioned the warnings and the Randall Donovan. Before I thought it was a warm place you played when you played but it was. It was kind of a it. Wasn't it wasn't appreciate and when? I say that you know it was the yard that Warren Password worn was Dan Marino. We'll be talking about how radio because his numbers are comparable today without the six years in candidate. But I I think what we're seeing now is. We're seeing people start to understand the level of talent ability. How cerebral these kids are. They can play from the pocket and their leaves. These are all things that when they mentioned about. You'll see that in in the list now and says it has it's literally presidential but but the thing is you have to be able to take a step back and say you know what these kids can play the quarterback position. And when you look at the collegiate ranks then more black quarterbacks in the collegiate good ones so again it goes back to happen understand. What the level we go through and give it to appreciate what we're seeing you know. I do allow entrepreneurs and I talked about patients who and the need to be offended or or resentful. And it's so interesting with all those guys that you talk to your mom. Briscoe someone that in California. We do a ton of work with for years trying to get that movie made by the way you know. It's a really good movie and a really good story but nobody's really resentful and angry or offended. How do you have the patience to wait for the reality to come about that? All the top quarterbacks are going to be evaluated by their talent. Well here we have old. School mentality shouts and tell you them telling evaluators who still have that. Well he's black quarterback what are we just evaluated his ability. How intelligent he is. The family background would become as he comes out. It's nothing else that you need to focus on focus on his color. You only public hair. You have to focus on how he wants. You know the the focus needs to be more of the position and that's what we're seeing we have. We have been after the American insult that people are afraid to talk about now. He will say well. We don't need talking about though. He's the third every America's worries. They play of great ones. The greatest african-american quarterback did win. The might. I've worked with before because the caregiver Steve but this could be an opportunity for a guy who people love is ability. Yeah and then. They want to question the thing about his character. What are you looking at? Are you looking more deep into trying to fight the negative or how good this really with? Doug flutie yeah who has a lot of similarities to a lot of running quarterback and I said if you were an African American would have been your chances even to play in the CFL for how old he is. He said there won't be a chance ever but stories like that people boss. Yeah well that's what I wanted in talking to people over and and it's important for us to focus on that because it's not gonNA stop. I mean we're looking at. We've looked at five afterward quarterback just in the playoffs alone. Yeah headed had a chance to have to play it in title game and then it's GonNa continue to grow where mean who's to say feels doesn't get drafted in the next year or two from Ohio state. Then I was talking about him. It's exciting right now. You've been one of those guys. They continue to grind the path. I'm on your team. As far as I'm Jay Hall of Famer right here. More people need to be aware of the issues that we're facing and this guy needs to be in the hall of fame and many others because we're building a pipeline hall of famers. It's a shame that Warren Moon American and I appreciate the respect. I love warranty. That's right I n there. I appreciate your insight and honesty thanksgiving.

"Briscoe good to have you with us. If you want to join our conversation feel free one. Eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven seven seven six. That's one eight hundred eighty eight say. ESPN SO I. I spent like my entire day yesterday. Had to go for a run earlier in the day because I have an issue you really you really came in. Like a wrecking ball with this running thing I kinda like what two years ago and now I'm Gonna I'm GonNa GonNa do it and then I figured out pretty much everywhere in the book to hurt myself but now I'm back and we're right in the ship so got back from my run was nine miles and then I did on football the rest of the day but you said something earlier and our last segment your leg something about skin the cat and my head went hard left because what are you watching on. TV right now are Netflix are what is it that captured you away from sports right now so I was. I gave you a couple of things during the break but the show that I've been I'm trying to catch up on. His fleabag obviously had a nice run at some of the awards shows recently. It's on it's quick. It's twenty five to thirty minute episode. The time So fleabag has been something that I have watched a good amount. Actually I forgot to mention that. We've just started recently for the beginning restarted. I should say my wife and I are now restarting The West Wing which is an all time classic. Rob Lowe made an appearance at the game. God that's okay Nicole. Oh my God so I said this morning on Sportscenter sportscenter. Am Seven am eastern on ESPN That we saw rob lowe yesterday and I was like there is. He was wearing that shield. A hat right the NFL logo right. Like you assume that somebody on planet earth has it. I always assumed that it was maybe Roger Goodell right but like nothing quite says I am forced to be. We're here because I'm promoting my new show and like generic clapping quite like wearing the shield hat and a plain black shirt standing next to an obvious obvious security guard it was I is it's incredible. It's just incredible. Rob Rob Lowe has not aged day and I hope to not. Aj Hey either. Ronaldo is on today he looks the same I don't know if he's older in west wing or parks and REC. I don't know Oh yeah he you make a good point. Okay have you seen. Don't with cats yes I have not only have so they when I I as many of us do when when something comes at a Netflix they say they spam you but they certainly heavily promote especially original content so there was a day I was home. Normally it's because of our work and a lot of my work is traveling if one of us is at home. It's my wife and not me. I was the one that was home and I started it and I watched the first athlete. You started it alone sort of the loan which I didn't know what I was getting myself into saw. Don't F with cats. I didn't really. I had no idea what it was about Out God no idea. Oh my God so I started. I watched an episode and I was like that was the most fascinating interesting thing. I've seen it a wild fascinating. It's terrifying. It is a very sobering glimpse at sort of the world in which we live and the Internet and how we process do things and this sort of our need to know and see and like being voyeurs and so because of my hours. I don't have a lot of time at the end of my day. To Watch shows I tend to late fall asleep And if I am watching something. We're watching coaching sporting events. Right so Ryan. My husband was like we need to watch this. And we're going to. We're actually starting the Aaron Hernandez documentary tonight. Now that you know it's my Friday so we watched it and we made it through the first two and a half before I was like falling asleep and I literally said I was like can we can meal. Can we turn on Disney. Can we just watch Beauty and the beast. I think I literally said beauty and the beast or like Mickey Mouse clubhouse 'cause I needed something like completely the innocent and just just the opposite of what I was watching to like. Take me back to like the ability to sleep. Yeah but it's one of those. The show is that it's don't F with cads but it'll f with with you certainly can and so I don't want that without. Don't spoil anything. I would just say that what I told my said I sent a message. I said you gotTa Watch this. Don't F with cats and her response was I don't like cat. That said nothing to do with it has it has everything to do with cats but it has nothing to do with cats. No and it's just but don't watch. Don't make her watch alone like she needs like one of those things. Where even if you're not watching your significant other look you need to watch with somebody else like also experiencing all the human emotions that you get while watching it just to make you? I don't know it's losing meant to be washed together. But we both ended up watching it separately. After she watched the first episode she was like. Oh my God. This is the most interesting thing I've watched in quite some time. Two minutes hate to admit how interesting it is. I have no shame I I I just realized I think it's a big week for me because grey's anatomy is coming back on. How many seasons this for grazing that? I think it might be nine in plain for longer. Grey's Anatomy Tom Brady. ooh I think it's already but I think it's real close but I just realized that I have been committed to grey's anatomy from episode one. I have seen every every episode of Grey's Anatomy. I think I well. No I think I have. I've literally been more committed to grey's anatomy than I have to anything else my entire life. Now I don't know what that says about me but who is a uh like what makes you jump the shark on a program who is in the control room that they're just said the plane crash season is out after the plane crash and like it was like well. I think it was season nine after that happened. Jump trump shark on so many times and they. It's like once I think now did bring me back in like I can't go now like in the person's chest that was early on like I was in on that still and there's a hell Derek doctor like Mitt Dreamy and Mukti me have all died and now like what's his is but you think I would be able to know the characters names that I've watched this show for my entire life. Just Karev Karev is leaving the program like they're literally down to like two or the three original cast members it's a daily gray and The doctor the Oh my God. I'm out I got nothing. Nothing here I know. None of these watched like an episode for you. I'm using the Dr Dos. Show that takes place in a hospital right. That was That was real descriptive. All right when we come back to the Dan Lebatardshow on ESPN radio and the ESPN APP with Nicole. Briscoe field yates. We're going to get to this whole idea that the forty manners fans need to worry about their coach becoming the next Sean mcvay and then also we'll take a look at the actual match up. Do we need to make predictions now. Uh We could do. We have to stick by them definitely. We'll come up with the rules industry minute. Where do you need a blink security camera on your porch to help protect detect deliveries helping? Keep your family safe when you travel or learning you when your kids get home from school..

"Why is it and is there anything you do foster that process along? That's that's my son's pro part of the program Yeah if you look at and a lot of people don't realize it but you know. Toyota has a bunch of young people that they went to look at for in the future feature two months ago we were at a private tests and we had. We're there for two days with what we have four cars. We brought four cars and and we had nine different drivers at Toyo one at us the test and look at so We're up there for today's test them and a lot of people don't realize it. But if you look at Kyle Busch motorsports transition with for driver development. Christopher Belkaid from Keith Kunst racing. Okay Tanner Thorson Logan seavy. Those guys come from the the midget part but then they go from there. They come to us. Anyone that Toyota feels good in the midget program. Graham del immediately say okay. Let's put them in a couple Arca races and see how is then once. We feel the between the Toyota people. My son Billy. They feel who's was good in our program. If you look at WHO's driving Kabul's motorsports in the truck series. Everyone almost come through our program. So the transition is venturing motorsports in Kabul motorsports go from KBM. Then they go to Gibbs xfinity program and then they go from there to the cup program you know Eric. Jones owns Daniel Suarez Christopher Bell. All come through our program. Alex Bowman a William Byron. There's there's a kid that great talent when you Byron. But at the time he was ready to move on Toyah didn't have a place to put them. So we're Kendrick grab smart move on Rick's part. Will we call them. Willie be good talent. The driver but the problem. I think what we're we're GONNA see shortly we've got a heck of a massive good talented kids driving force and there aren't enough seats to put them somewhere. You know so so I you know I'm happy with what we're doing. I'm just a little cautiously optimistic. It's amazing how all of this has come from that.

Chase Briscoe confirmed at Stewart-Haas Racing for 2020

"Risky brisky is in studio. What's happening what's up chase briscoe nothing? I'm busy busy busy whole big time over here. I'll know about that has re upped with Tony Stewart at Stewart House Racing Gene Haas to compete again in the expended series. And I could be more exciting. I thought you were awesome last year in the car. You know got win in Iowa and I think you should contend for a championship. Don't you think yeah I think yeah pretty good you know. We don't have a ton of changes. I mean roles wise. It's the same. We have a new body on the Mustang. But yeah I mean there's going to be the first time in my career I've been able to go back with the same team in the same crew chief so looking forward to what do you think of the new pitstop procedures that were just announced. Yeah I just saw literally about thirty minutes ago but I think you you know at Iowa. I don't really think it's going to change anything but I do feel like at the road courses. It's GonNa Change them completely because there's no more short pitting anymore. There's no more flipping stages so so for me. I think it's a little bit worse. Because now you're going to have awesome syndrome out front in maintaining track position the hallway. So it's going to make it harder. I think to win the road course races because it's GonNa take a lot of the strategy out of it but it's hard to say right now we haven't done it yet so it's hard to say what it's going to be like but yeah I think it's going to be easier to maintain track position on a road course so fast on a road course. I think it's definitely a positive for you for sure. The move really helps money-wise for some of these smaller teams but the cup series teams were flying people into standalone races to do the crew and some of them have their own crews. I guess but a lot of the Rian flying flown end so that costed everything kind of brings that cost down but I agree with you. The road course racing is going to change that totally but as far as the racing product on track. It's not going to change that very much. Yeah I think you know it's not going to change the especially at the Iowa and the places like that Barocco where the fast guys stay up front so yeah. I think that's GonNa be the only place where you really see a difference in this new. Whatever you WANNA call? It rule changed. But I think it's going to be just normal Iowa and you can still pit when you want to pay it or whatever or you're just GONNA lose positions on pit road which like you said it's a good thing and it does definitely say the teams a lot of money if anything. It might make the racing a little bit better just because so you know if you have a guy like Ryan SEGER Jeremy Clements. That doesn't necessarily have the pick crew caliber of a pin skier Stewart. Haas if they can get up to sixth seventh or eighth or whatever or you know they can stay there now so dropping back five or six spots in a pit road so it's probably GonNa make the racing better the short tracks but you know it's hard to say I was going to do of course is this for you is. Is this the first time that you've since you've stock cars. You'll be in the same car two years in a row saint team but like same actual type of car era xfinity car in two thousand eighteen. I gotta run up not full-time. This will be the first time I've ever in two seasons full-time back. toback Gotcha so there's something to be said for that. I think a full year under your belt is going to be going to be good. Yeah I think you know last year specifically you know the first half of the year to the second half of the year was day now to be able to start the first half of the year where we ended the second half. I think

"He's the NFL network analysts along with Nicole Briscoe a Taylor Twelve Min bookie over the LS twenty four hours in staying with Jimmy Garoppolo but now going to who. He followed for many years in New England with Tom. Brady over the last twenty four hours you wrote an interesting sting article in NFL DOT com. That the pats should basically let Tom Brady walk. Wi- so there's always the saying In every sport like it's better to get rid of a player a year to mother you to And the reason why is because especially your superstars when those superstars decline they not only only like affect the way that you perform on the field but they also significantly impact your salary structure. Tom Brady will be commanding a salary. There would be significant. He gets what he wants. It should be anything over twenty five million dollars however we've seen evidence last year that his game is beginning to deteriorate. His game is beginning to decline on We saw him have a passer rating. I guess I was the lowest and all the football. We saw him rank After week four in the bottom six and several roll passing categories from completion percentage yards per attempt Passer rating he's very very pedestrian by the standards that we've seen him and when you factor in the age aged forty three years old. What are the odds of him? Coming back living in Los Angeles I saw. LA LAKERS KINDA history wagon. The Kobe Line. They wanted to take them through the a farewell tour and they really did it to their detriment. I think for the New England pages to be what they've always said. They are all about winning all about playing the best players. This is the natural breaking point for them to separate from Tom. Brady Bill belichick rebuild. The team and the image that he wants because they have a bunch of thirty somethings that also creates. I think this is the time he did reset what the Patriots are and what they could be going okay so bucky I want you to like plug and play for me than it is. It's sort of a two part art question. If Tom Brady is going to leave New England where then is the best home for him and then who would be the best. Tom Brady replacement placement in New England. You know it's tough light so Tom Brady Still offers some winning cares. Risks to help seem get over the uh-huh and but where he is physically. He's very very limited. Tom Brady is at his best when he's able to throw the ball inside the numbers. So if you look at the football field anything anything that is embracing inside the numbers. He's still at work that area to feel really well anything outside of numbers he doesn't necessarily have our strength to be able to consistently push it outside. He needs to play in a quick rhythm passing game able to him to really throw it to a talented cat and make things happen when I look at the League. I think he would be a nice. Fit with the raiders. GOING TO VEGAS because John Bruton has a quick passing game. I think Tom Brady will probably give him a little more toughness and a little more leadership in the car I think that would be a natural fit people. Talk about La Him coming to the charges in I think trading Tom Brady or like swapping him out from. Philip rivers is basically basically awash. I think the Oakland Raiders would probably offer them the best situation. When you think about the Patriots Conversation Peter King alluded to the fact that Bill Belichick. Let's check would be interested. Maybe Andy Dawn on the surface. There are a lot of people that were scoff at the notion of Andy Dalton. Being a guy that can replace Tom Brady but it was served. The Patriots just will in two areas one. Any dawn is in a winning quarterback when any John has been surrounded by talent he won Games Cincinnati and he would also come at a cheaper price tag that would enable the Patriots to build up the pieces around him to allow intensity even though he's thirty plus he's a young thirty plus plus. I think you can do with that. The other player that watch teddy bridgewater he had an opportunity place. Five Games for the New Orleans Saints as the starter. He takes the ball. He's smart. He was fits into to what the patients have traditionally done. I think they can wear either one of those guys before back. I'm the same with the Patriots just because with all the coaching decisions. Yeah I am a homer live in Boston plus us you know what Bucky wrote an interesting article about two things regarding New England. I'm going to go to the Joe. Judge hiring in New York now. Obviously a big talking point is why and rightfully Lee. So the the Rooney rule and why he gets an interview and he gets hired over others but bucky. You had another take that you hope he succeeds because ultimately it's going to open up the coaching carousel so to speak and who gets hired. WHO GETS looked at? Yeah it will open up the carousel like like you guys watch. It's like typically everything that we're here when it comes to a WHO's going to be the next hot COACHING CANDIDATE COMES FROM A. He's a great play call it. He's a great office of mine or as this great defense of my rarely talk about the skills that are necessary to be the leader. The head coach will the one coach on staff behind the head. Coach that deals with everything. Everything on the team is a special teams coordinator and the reason why is because especially teams coordinator takes office players defensive players and he puts them on the field the kicking game. He has to convince guys who really don't WanNa play on special teams to not only play but to excel in that he also has to manage positional. Oh coaches because when you're doing those things in practice kicking game you need the assistance of the DB coach and the wide receiver coach and others to help out so now he has an understanding of how how to manage yourself where offense coordinator and decent score and they may not have their say and then out of the head coach. The special teams coach has to manage finish the game. Each and every Sunday he understands down and distance situations force out. How do we WANNA play it? Do you WANNA punt. Do you WANNA go for it. All of those things so so he actually comes ready made to be a head coach because of all those experiences. So I'm hoping that Joe Judge has an opportunity to have success so other teams will say you. What I'm listening leaving office in my I can go get a special teams coast because his management experience would give him an opportunity to be a really and it goes and if nothing else out he sort of made us want to run through a brick wall for him after that introductory press conference? It's bombing Nicole. Briscoe on the Stephen a Smith show on. ESPN radio BUCKY BROOKS NFL network analyst. Joining us I would like to get out of New England. But let's stay sort of New England adjacent at least because it was the sentece titans that kicked New England in and out of the playoffs and ended their season. But it was with Derrick Henry was able to do against that Patriots defense. which was the number one defense in the NFL? This last season he now goes on to play the Baltimore Ravens. It's the eight fifteen game tomorrow. Night what are you expecting. It's not like the Baltimore Ravens Defensive. As a bunch of slouches over there. They're also really good. So what are you expecting of Derrick Henry. This week you know this is going to be a physical game. I think we will be able to feel the physicality and tough in this game just by looking at it on TV. I would expect to be a rugged game so the Tennessee. Titans look their past. Victory is they're very small in terms of how they have to play why ending. You'll have to play really well. What the way to elevate Ryan Tannehill is to make sure that the threat of the running game creates the opportunities down the field? I don't know if they're able to kate what he was able to do against the Patriots because the Baltimore Ravens really going to commit the blitzing. The Tennessee Titans of front and they're going to they're they're the titans receivers on the outside. Aj Brown Corey Davis to be able to win against some of their man combinations on coverages bridges this game will ultimately decided by how Ryan Tannehill place last week. He was able to get away with winning with fewer than one hundred yards. He has has to have more yards in the past game more productive place in the past game for them to win. It's a tough game for the Tennessee. Titans because Baltimore's different animal when they play at home yeah their leading receiver last last week. Had something like twenty yards twenty. It's ridiculous you can catch more of Bucky Brooks on the NFL network. You can also hit him up on twitter at Bucky Looking Brooks. Hey thanks so much. Thanks so much for joining us. We appreciate the time..

"I am curious like you went. You went through the sort of the list of quarterbacks Dan that have been in the same room or in the same team. That a Mike McCarthy has been involved with I mean you got Montana you've got Brett farve you've got Aaron Rodgers and I'm probably leaving off a number here now he does and let's just assume that Dak stays in Dallas but we're gonNA assume that right and say that Mike Nuggets to work with Jack. How can he help? DAX were to get to the next level. I mean I think what he's inheriting in with. Dak Prescott is a good player Who said some really good stretches Dacca's coming off the best year of his career. It'd be interesting to see do they. Keep keep telling Moore who I know is beloved in Dallas and do they keep John. Kit was a tremendous impact on deck and his development over this past year. That'll be interesting to see if they keep him the big thing. Is You know a lot of when Jack is playing on a consistent consistently high level. He's mechanically very sound. 'cause deck is a big physical talented player. He has been since I was at Mississippi State. That's what took Mississippi state the number one ranking in college football and that's what's this kind of elevated his career over the first couple of years. He's a big physical player. That has a natural skill set but when he has those dips in performance. It's it's because his fundamentals aren't aligned. All the time consistently and Mike McCarthy coming from the Bill Walsh teaching three and Joe Montana in a teaching to relearn how important that stuff was and the ability that he did with taking the importance of those continentals and instilling them into Brett at five and Rogers but yet still allowing those guys to play with the reckless recess type of style that he did. That's one of those players or at least allow those players to have the dominant performances over years and years and years that they did on top of the natural talent and I think if you can do that for deck. You're GonNa see Jack take another step forward not only next year but here in the next you know half dozen years dinner laskey joining us in great follow online for those you at at home home on twitter at Dinner Lobski seven gives you the real insight in a quarterback play whatnot but Dan. I want to ask you more of a macro question regarding this past weekend because Nicole call asked me the same question when we got here in studio because there was so much about the quote Unquote Wildcard Rican. Being a wildcard. What was the one biggest takeaway you took away from the four games this weekend? You can ask me that question I I my brain is I can't give you one thing. I'm not wired like that. Okay all the reason why I asked you. Here's why here's why issue that because I know the Carson Wentz and that injury in that situation and how he'd pulled legitimately a a second rate team so to speak with so many options on. He carried them into the playoffs. That happens for me living in Boston. Tom Brady that last game. That's why I asked you that. Also the quarterback play was subpar other than Russell Wilson being effective inefficient but only scoring. Seventeen points I just figured you were going to go with Carson Wentz. That's why you want that big. Well people probably anticipate I'm GonNa give you a twelve second nugget from every game Okay okay okay. The Houston Houston is so dangerous. Because you do Shawn Watson is one of those quarterbacks that have come around that it doesn't matter as defense defense what you do against him and there's GonNa be people are going to say that the chiefs are going to blow their doors off and I'm not there yet because this kid is so has this unique ability the overcome everything. That's around him That I'm not ready to see how can't did he plays. But my biggest takeaway out of the game is like how Special Shawn Watson is and with better. Coaching around him is going to become the the Patriots Titan game. The Titans. I've been on the seven weeks. They are a violent physical physical football team. That will absolutely challenge Baltimore now here's a little nugget when Dean pees is the defensive coordinator for the Tennessee. Titans when he was the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. It was in the Super Bowl against Greg Roman who is the offensive coordinator for the Ravens when they had Colin Kaepernick and so Greg Roman was office coordinator for the forty niners. Taverny so dean pees is GonNa know exactly how plan wise they wanted to defend Lamar Jackson and that offense moving forward but tannehill played really good. Tom Brady is the least of the worries New England It is not as easy of a Bandaid end-date as hey tom come back. And we'll be really good again they failed. Tom Brady at the back into his career. That's the truth. They have failed. Tom Brady when it comes to the personnel around him. If Tom Brady goes to the chargers you gonNA throw it for forty touchdowns and forty five hundred yards if he just gets better players. Watch the tape. The Guy can still flat out play If I'm New England I'm doing everything I can to bring him back. He has that was above seconds. Another way like liking saints Think the same star. Let them down. Drew brees fumble interception. We never see that sean pains mismanagement of the clock. We never see that Kamar three plays in the last drive that took time off the clock unfortunately unfortunately for the saints their star let them down and then okay wait can I can I can I time. Can I time out there with you on that one in just to make sure that not we head on all the things because drew brees is one of those quarterbacks that also has a question right like he's what two weeks away from from forty one. His contract is up march eighteen. Thirteen like he could hit the free agent market he. Could I mean the saints could also franchise tag him. Do you think that this is as much of a question. Drew Breeze back to the saints as. It is sort of like Tom Brady what he's going to do. What's which one's the bigger question? I think they're both equally big you know. I don't think it's a shoe shoe in that. Breed breeze goes back to the same. You know the saints have for about three years now gone all in and and kind of sold the farm to figure out a way to win the Super Bowl and I I thought they would go to the super bowl this year. I thought they were really complete football team and they've built a lot of things around drew. Brees I still think breezes plenty capable of playing yes. I don't need everybody putting the world to tell me that his arm strength is not what it used to be. Look at his numbers since he came back from his injury. He's he's absolutely bald he just didn't play well yesterday. So It'll be very interesting. Things are one of those teams that to me. I keep an eye on her because I think you could very easily resigned. Drew brees the franchise tag to breeze or figure out a way find some picks to get up and draft to a to a registered for year and allow them to learn under breeze. It's a perfect fit schematically medically I'd be surprised if drew brees place. Somewhere else But there's as many questions to breeze the Brady I just wanted to throw this out there because tastes hills also a free agent this offseason as well and takes him. He'll may argue but I'm not totally sure people comparing some hill to the Lamar Jackson. It was good yesterday. Okay I've got. I literally have a list of questions for you I wanna get your thoughts on the hit on Carson Wentz. Let's just 'cause this is twofold. When I saw this to you Taylor I? I can't imagine what it was like for Carson Wentz to sit there and be waiting so long to make his playoff debut brutal and then to have like you the hit and he knows that something's wrong right to have sort of the mental ability ability to be like I know something's not right and I need to protect you and I said you can't judge you can't judge intent now for me. He said tackle was agreed. Your signature compelling what did you see yeah so I actually went to this game my wife's from Philly and obviously I've been publicly supporting Carson Wentz. I think he's a really good player. All Carson on someone's Jersey or no after the game but not to the game but here's the thing. Yes I agree with you guys. You cannot Judge Judge Amendment that is certainly not going to go on cloudy. He's GonNa try and hurt him. I'm not gonNA say that but I think there's the truth to you either intentionally take your head out of place Nowadays Utensil. Keep your head in place defender. And we've defended the people I've heard enough about the head stuff and so those guys are smart mark players and I think cloudy was trying to make sure they're Carson Wentz fell. Tim I don't think he's trying to make Carson Wentz hurt It's obviously a bummer. But but there. It doesn't matter what I think when it comes into play. We have a language that the officiating crew needs to invoke spearing is when contact contact is initiated with the top of the helmet on an offensive players helmet. That is obviously what happens. So one hundred percents should have been a flag. I don't care what anyone one said. That is the rule Do I think it was dirty or ten full. I have absolutely no idea. I'M NOT GONNA put myself into David clowney shoes but I do know this if you wanted to take his helmet out of it and he could've okay. I need you to give me literally literally one word to answer the next two questions. This is also challenge. I think you can do. I need one word correct. Did Kyle Rudolph push off. Did Kirk cousins change the narrative narrative on kirk cousins for sick days couldn't do it Danner lumpy on the Stephen Smith. Show uh-huh with Nicole Briscoe and Taylor twelve and I I agree for six days. I'll give I'll give kirk six six days. Okay that's it. Maybe you are hard I I am here. I am like an NFC North Fan. So I buy like I think by blood. I hate selective narrative a lot this year. He's gone on the Dallas one prime time he's had a big comeback and he he had a big game yesterday's change but if he goes out and lays next week that that will matter to folks. All right it's time for straight talk the big wireless wireless carriers tried to. Wow You with big deals with the savings are very little with straight talk wireless you get the exact.

"That's what the dolphins are no. I don't think the dolphins are that bad. I don't there was a point where I was like. Oh my God can we stop talking about the dolphins and then at one point it's like something clicked something worked and then I think there were better than what we thought they were. They were absolutely good if if one more games than just four there are a lot of people. Who have the dolphins in apology here? Namely you know maybe I think it was week three when I was like. Oh my God can let me. Please stop talking about the time now. So maybe I do all right so patriots if they lose Tom. Brady's not under contract for next year. He's forty two forty forty two. He's in great shape physically. You know about you know pays me to say I'm sorry Randy Scott Nicole Briscoe in for Stephen a on the Stephen Smith show on. ESPN radio you can call in if you want. I'm sure we're I'm sure I not Nicole. She does it in a nice way. But I'm sure I'm infuriating. People eight eight eight seven nine. Three seven. Seven six is a number. I actually am of the belief that the offensive struggles are not Tom. Brady's fault I think his best offensive weapon. There's an under sized receiver and Jillian who's been playing through some serious injuries. I don't mean deserves a lot of credit for what he's dealing. But otherwise you have a guy from Arizona State and Aqeel. Harry missed the first first half of the season Muhammed Snooze having to learn this intricate Josh. mcdaniels playbook midstream right. He's he's dropping balls left and right and nobody's getting separation because they're not that good and Brady has to anticipate a little bit more as opposed to relying on arm strength that maybe Nair and maybe it was it was never there but but he developed later in his career. Like this is an and there's no offense like Dante's Karnicki the offensive line guru was supposed to fix the offensive line but the line has also been beaten up beaten up injured. This is Brady's fall is my point and you know I would love nothing more than than say. Brady's lost it I don't know that he has. I don't know if I think lost a little bit because that father time is always undefeated. Aided but I yeah I don't I don't disagree with you. I don't think it's all his fault but the only thing is okay look. The Eagles are beaten up like name me a team in the NFL. It's is not beaten up this time of year. Titans really aren't that's an to circle back to your original question like they gave Derrick Henry a week off season to get right the offensive line. Pretty Healthy Corey Davises back. Aj Brown has emerged. Tanna hills healthy. Like I don't know so you think you really truly like what are the odds that are putting on it because FBI this morning said something like The Patriots have a better than seventy percent. Chance to beat the titans. And I don't know if it's a seventy seventy percent chance but it's definitely more likely than not in my head to pull like straight from deflategate. Sure like verbiage. It's more likely than not in my head that the Patriots are going to beat the titans. I still think I still think the Patriots are are GonNa win. But I I'd put it more like fifty five forty five. Okay how about this. Let's like turn to coaching changes now. Josh mcdaniels Has Been In head coaching conversations. As long as we were talking about the old years now and he has gone back if the end of the road is coming or is more insight in in New England. Is this the year. That Josh mcdaniels is out if Brady if Brady's done mcdaniels has done unless the turnaround and I mean to be honest like Belichickian change of heart that mcdaniels had with a couple of years ago. Yeah unless it's all part if some handshake agreement and an understanding of what the succession is going to be a New England. So which is to say mcdaniels can have his name out there for any job right now. It doesn't matter because he knows he's succeeding. Bill Bill Belichick when that time comes so I you know this is the page. You'RE GONNA succeed Tom Brady. You're going to succeed the Patriots when Bill Belichick is out in in theory a you're also inheriting a team that is without Tom Brady. Is that the team that you want or do you want to go out and put your hat in the ring for our job. Let's say he's a candidate in Dallas. But I'm just saying. Do you want to put your hat in the ring for a job in Dallas. Do you want to put your hat in the ring for name. Another job out there. That's that's currently open or ones that are going to come open okay. I mean out of the job in Cleveland which I WANNA touch with a twenty foot pole. No no and I don't think mcdaniels Dana goes there regardless of Ohio ties. Like I don't know if I'd want to be the guy that takes over four. The legend without the legend yet. Ah avs you're right. Which is why would have to be perfect? Scenario quarterback has demonstrated ability. You know younger. Obviously because you want to get in with somebody nobody who's also sort of malleable and coach -able at this point so he's isn't set in their ways so dallas. Yeah I just think if you're mcdaniels you're not getting any younger for yourself and why not take the short thing. Take the train. That's leaving the station. As opposed the one. WHO's GonNa leave eventually and you have a ticket? But I think that's the that's I think that's my question is is it. The shore thing is what is New England. No I didn't know if let's I mean man giving you no no it's not it's going to be India. They love they love Frank Reich. No no no. I'm just like it's not Denver. It's not it's not. But it's not the raiders. It's not the forty niners. It's not you know. I mean that's the problem any anyone who has a good quarterback they're not parting ways with their coach. Because you good quarterback you probably probably contender right. So maybe it's Atlanta would you go to Atlanta Atlanta's not open you've already. They've already said bring their head coach. I don't know I don't know I don't either. I wanted to throw it out but I'll say this what it what it means ultimately what it means. Is You have a quarterback who's not under contract was hall of Famer. Integrates the greatest of all time conversation. You have your New England. You have to bring him back. If you're new. England wants to say bring him back your Yes yes because you've stood him behind it. I the Housing New Games. He's not. I believe Tom Brady is not the problem. He's not maybe winning you games like he has before but he's certainly. I'm not losing you games. And you can throw in a number of quarterbacks in that exact same situation and those quarterbacks will absolutely lose games for Brady is not doing that for the first first time in twenty years in New England this could be a massive off season of change change bell check. I could see a scenario bell. Check the only one standing at the end of this. Brady's gone mcdaniels has gone S- Carnegie he is gone and it spellcheck and I think bell check is driven at his age and success by that opportunity. Watch me because everyone is when you do it again. Thirty thirty one other teams. Think of that as a problem. And Oh my God. The Sky's falling. What are we gonNA do and ballot check thinks of it as finally prove that I can do it on and show that I don't know what that is? That is that Bill Clinton kind of I think it's time for me to coach this team. Yeah that's Clinton try. Try again. Bruce GonNA coach up. Put on the door bollocks week so like your way through. I don't know if you picked up good. We got a new one this morning from micro put it in the dryer because it's not just onto Cincinnati at all. Put it in. Put it in your job putting now. We're putting Tom Brady drawer. Maybe we do but I think I think there are so many other. If he wants to play he'll play if he wants to play New England. That's not under his control anymore. Can you imagine twenty years. I I have a really hard time though imagining him in another place. What uniform would be the strangest dolphins any? You've really strange. Like a all the ones that I think feel strange are the ones that are within within the division and he's not going to go to buffalo he's not going to go like buffalo doesn't need 'em buffalo does it. Need him jets. Think they have something. Sam darnold dolphins would the the only individual you want to hear from the actual ballot check when he was asked some of these questions. Yes this is artful artful from ballot check here. Is it strange to think that it's at least possible. This could be in your last game together. We're on titans. That's really focused on candidate. Ready to go and play this game. We can play Saturday night classic. He's he's in. He's in his prime. Put Him in a damn drawer. He's in his prime. We have calls. We also have pressure on quarterbacks not named Tom Brady. If you're a vikings fan how much confidence you have in Kirk with a K.. Cousins now much which which one will probably not much but then is that pressure. Is that low. Expectations will play that game with quarterbacks who are playing this wild card weekend straight talk wireless runs the same four G.. Lte Networks up to half the cost. Get the unlimited plan with.

This was the same way with Bruce Allen in DC and his being stripped of the director football ops and being out of their why now why not five years ago. It's Thanksgiving sorry Snyder. Why now five years ago and and to be honest maybe you could say that about Jason Garrett why now why not years ago but Jason Garrett soon soon to be the former head coach of the Dallas cowboys after the better part of ten seasons eighty five wins? Two playoff wins never made it beyond the divisional round. Why not already Eddie? And this is the thing that like it makes me itchy right like I find myself scratching my head over what Jerry Jones is doing because fine. He came out with how many weeks ago in the season it into. I am not going to make a change. I am not making a coaching change right now. Because that's going to prohibit us from making a run at the playoffs and we're still very much in the division. Fine Okay you you know what I understood that but the the intention was there like the threat was there. You'll make the playoffs were done. It wasn't even that it was when you gotTa win a couple of a couple of games in the playoffs but find like you don't make the playoffs and the word were done done like we are so Taylor Swift. Yes so it's what Friday. It's Friday. The season ended on Sunday. Just did so. How many meetings have there been with Jason Garrett three hours ago the Dallas cowboys on twitter? Put out like an article that says as the week concludes still no news on staff. That's like the official word but are were was reporting last night. They're are prepared to move on the future of the Dallas Cowboys. Come out and say something all right so it is. It is getting ridiculous but this is. We're the cowboys the waters they swim in right. I mean the ridiculous is it's every day it's Day. What if they come out and they sake nope we're going to renew Jason Garrett for Maria plot twist that would be amazing? It'd be amazing and or a bad Ross would be great for what awesome for border but no it wouldn't and for what the Jones family is trying to do. It wouldn't be great either which is when Super Bowl. That's what they want. I mean we're to the point now and speaking of Edward r the man who broke the story for us here at ESPN. You Know Ed was on get up this morning and he was talking about how this this is so you know. Jerry is so in advanced age in advanced stages of ownership with his team that perhaps this this next higher has to be made with other family members in mind and with a longer view of the franchise in mind make the argument that this higher needs to be initiated. You did With Executive Vice President Steven Jones his son being the lead person. Because he's the one who is most likely to run the family franchise and control the daily Operation Nation. You know long term. And he's been you know very influential in a lot of big decisions releasing Carol Owens refusing to allow Jerry draft. Johnny Menzel over Zack. Martin Martin and I don't know exactly what their list is. But I know that in the time I've covered the cowboys that Jerry has often claimed. The cowboys can have the Best Arisen coaching and yet it seems that's only been true twice Jimmy Johnson and Bill parcells and one of the reasons for that is the role that he's had as the owner of the general manager and the other is that he is seldom believe that it's necessary to pay big money head coaches i. It's interesting to me. How billionaires choose to spend their money and how they choose the splashes flashes in the areas in which the splash quite frankly because offensive line? You're paying the running. You're paying the running back the biggest contract and running back history. You have the offensive line you will but the offensive line was in place. Really before Zeke got his money so it was. It was a rare sort of their. Oh sure right on his rookie deal. And that's where it makes a ton of sense until the rookie wised up and realizes you've constructed this entire thing around me right. So what if I take me out of the equation and that's why it was all posturing. It was posturing from an aging billionaire and a young soon to be multimillionaire. And we knew Zeke was going to get the money because how how else this is where the cowboys support. What they were trying to do? I thought it would go. I thought the standoff is GonNa go maybe to the by week maybe yeah has of how easy they. They're scheduled wasn't getting the season season but I remember also when that seem to be the biggest problem in Dallas right so my question to you. Is this when you're talking about what Jerry Jones is going to do now right. Let's just live in a world in which Jason Garrett is effectively gone not fired but his contract is up January the Ford Eleven. He's Gone January fifteenth. It's a new world. Does Jerry Jones owns for his own legacy need to bring in someone. That's a splash. Or does he need to bring in someone that will just get the job done on the latter. He needs to be smart job done. He needs to be smart and he needs to bring in basically. I mean it's it's loose analogy. But he needs to bring bringing he needs. He needs to make the kind of smart coaching move that he's made with these smart offensive line. Contra matter at this point flashy there was a time in in his tenure obviously is owner of the Dallas cowboys where they went to how many NFC title game they went. How many super bowls but are Tim College up when you're Super Super Bowl if you're in your early thirties unless you remember watching football when you were in kindergarten you don't remember Dallas being great right so does does it? Does it matter. Has He already done enough to be the owner of the Dallas cowboys. Or does he still need it to be like that guy to the next generation. I when you're a you know here. Here's why the rich people like the legacy converse. That's it but this is what this is where he is. He is in he still. How amazing must this be? How intoxicating must this be? And how sort of mesmerizing can this be to have the means which money had the reputation have all of it. Have the ability to shape your legacy while you're here. We're not getting more but it's sort of like it's sort of like writing your own Eulogy Right. Are you gonNA be remembered as owner of the four time Super Bowl. Champion Dallas Cowboy like the guy who oversaw four super bowl titles. Right with the guy who oversaw three really early and then couldn't land the plane for the last one despite the best efforts and despite all the money in the world now the coaches in all the yes men and all the Chris Christie's in your box and all that other stuff like you couldn't do most famously really what you're trying trying to do. It's it's super bowl or bust. Let alone make the playoffs. And that's why Jason Garrett's out soon to be okay possibly you WanNa talk AFC. Now Yeah. Because I I spending Jerry's mother okay. Let's just say let's just say that the Patriots do in fact lose tomorrow. Let's go to the titans. Yes what are you wearing Sunday morning. I'M GONNA WEAR A. I'm going to wear a black tie I'm GONNA I'm gonNA wear funeral gear. black-tie black shoes celebrate at a funeral. And I feel like you will be celebrating a funeral. No I will be an impartial journalist on sportscenter. Am Seven am eastern on ESPN. Here's the thing I'm I live. I live in Massachusetts. Your your kids are patriots fans. Don't say that they're too young. They don't know what they want. They don't know yet they don't know okay. I'm sure I can find videos and like I'm sure we're saying the chargers your stuff when I was four because my dad made me and then I got to choose for myself. And it shows the raiders. Because Bo Jackson happened. But I digress. Well that's La- ah you sort of live behind enemy lines so to speak and like I want my kids. I want to root for the team as my kids and I've lost out on my son. John Losing out on my daughter a one more try Ryan. He tried the two year old. But you know wife's my wife's a patriots fan. I'm fighting fighting a lot of battles on a lot of different fronts in that respect so like I'm just doing the best I can. So what makes it easier. Is Kids like winners so in my house. The Super Bowl is just the last game of the year for the Patriots as what they've been doing for as long as my kids can remember right and Duckbo parades are normal and expected and that's not how it is in real life. It's not so I want the Patriots stock to take a little bit of a hit so that they're less appealing for lifelong sports fan of that because my parents are sort of the same way my parents were like hi. I'm so tired. The Patriots like a hair it every time like they're on TV right. So I just don't know how much faith I have in the titans and I'm not this. Is I like the titans. I like what they've done with. Derrick Henry I like what they've done with Ryan Tannehill and I have faith in the titans. I just don't know if I have the faith.

"Christie DOT COM. Yeah Kind of a big story of rose in the wake of homestead dead not championship related of course because that was a runaway by Kyle Busch. But they're taking away his cup. No no that's safe. It's staying but there's Karama back in the back of the pack. Carry the guys that you like to follow from week to week. Only you have breaking news from the back of the pack. This is pretty big though. This is race manipulation. Asian this is just like the micro wall bracing two thousand thirteen incident in Richmond but it was in the championship race and it had to do with the guys in the back of the pack this time. Round of course sleep the top non-charter car season so there's thirty six cars they get a charter each year. So they're guaranteed entry in each race while the cars aren't guaranteed. Don't have a charter. And those guys guys battle it out all season long and hoover's highest up in owner points out of them at the end of the season gets an extra bonus so all the races where we don't hit forty cars carry. The remaining in person of the race is thrown into a fund and at the end of the year that fund is given to the top non-charter team so quite a bit of money was built up as we didn't hit forty cars very very much this season. Were they out there breaking some kneecaps or what. Now they weren't. They weren't doing that but they were doing some questionable things so The twenty-seven team of of premium motorsports which was driven by Ross chastain. They tried putting their premier driver in the seat to try to get the best. Finish possible this weekend because they entered the weekend with a seven point lead on the ninety six brothers racing team which had drew herring making his cup series debut well towards the end of this race drew herring was doing what it took to tie the twenty seven car and based on a tiebreaker. The Ninety six car would take that the best open charter team spot with bonus money so it was is looking very very not good there for motorsports and all of a sudden with about thirty laps to go. Some weird stuff starts transpiring the fifteen car They have some weird radio Jio transmissions about their steering box steering box. Go to the garage go to the garage. So they fall out of the race and that that moves chastain up to thirty seven in the The seventy seven car has has some other weird transmission where they're trying to tell Reed Sorenson garage for four or five laps before he finally understands what's going on and so he goes to the garage as well which moves moves up Another spot the twenty seven car and then the fifty two car rick ware racing. They also park at early Fifteen laps to be exact. which moves chastain up to the spot? He needed to be in thirty fifth to get that extra point to break the tie with the ninety six car. Well as you know you probably because dot com. I went through the audio that I could get a hold of And so that's where we found the weird audio transmissions and stuff where it seemed like they were doing some stuff a little bit on the nefarious Side of things to try to make Their car get the extra bonus. Money and APPARENTLY NASCAR has also agreed to that. Because they've done their own investigation. Penalties have now been dished out. Carrie huge penalties. What I mean th th the season's over what is it like you? Don't get to celebrate Christmas. Or what is it well. I'm sure they probably won't be celebrating this Christmas. Because now they've not only been stripped ripped of that top highest non-charter team spot because they've been deducted fifty championship owner points but they've also got a lot of money money flowing around here between these These four teams that were involved here. So the fifteen car was docked fifty championship points which means now. The Ninety six team hits that championship bonus for being the top non charter team the fifteen team. which is the teammate car? The twenty-seven was docked fifty championship points and assessed. A fifty thousand is not finding the owner spire motorsports. which was the seventy seven car? Reed Sorenson that cars. Osman Doc Fifty Championship owner points fifty thousand dollars for their participation in the event here and require racing's number fifty two team which I couldn't find evidence of but I'm sure there's something in there that Nascar found that they were transpiring and conspiring in Miss. But they've also been docked fifty points and fined fifty thousand dollars as well on top of that.

"The mirror. You just posted pictures The other day dressed up as over the years You had one year where you were a turtle So you're A pirate one year. You were Tony Stewart. One year Like Kurt Warner one year is that right. Yeah so which one of those costumes your most impressive As a kid grown. Well Stuart thing. That wasn't this Halloween me and that was almost every day I would put that thing on and play my video games so the two zero one is probably my favorite. But I like the Kurt Warner uniform and helmet. I remember we got. I think it was a cold or something they had a Kurt Warner Santa Brett Farve one and I bought them. Both and I would always dress up and drove football around the house. So I don't know why. Kurt Warner fan growing up. Because I was colts. Fancy but I would say the Tony's favorite them very very cool so did you have any aspirations of being an NFL player. At any point I played football till third grade. Third Grade was the first year we had tackle football. And I remember I was on defense and this guy came running around the corner and I jumped out of the way to make sure I didn't hit him and I remember my coach came and yelled at me and that was that was the end of football for me. I realized real quick for me and I had a sector baseball and basketball but football. I love watching it. Just not very good at playing although you never made it in the NFL. "Thing than stats okay. So next year last last year full time in the Cup series. So does he have any goals. I think I haven't heard the clip you've selected here. I think what his goals were. Yeah first of all. The outlook for next year is is absolutely to win races and being that final four in if you're in the final four the championship for I should should say it Phoenix. Now you've got a shot and that that's that that is absolutely the goal for next year. I have the fire. Our team is getting stronger. I think Hendrick motorsports is a whole. We've had a great evolution to the course of twenty nineteen. We have new things coming our way for twenty twenty and just pulling back and looking at the opportunity. This company has twenty twenty and then myself with it being my final full-time year. That's that's a special opportunity in that did kind of go into my my my thought process in my head which probably never shared twenty years has always felt like a nice round number two to be a full time driver. I can see what twenty twenty looks like I. I don't know like Mike much like all of us and we don't know what twenty one looks like so it didn't play a role in my decision making process. But when I'm looking around trying to find things to to to sway me one way or the other it's like twenty twenty s looks like awesome opportunity. Yeah so I mean you know win some races. Pick up that At number eight championship being chip that that'd be a good goal if I were him right. So The r word has been used. He's going to retire from full time. Cup series racing which means he's not retiring from driving think of any sort he'll still be doing but let's hear Jimmy talk about that. This is not retirement from racing stepping down from the thirty eight weeks year that it takes to be competitive additive and in the time that goes with that I would come back and drive cup cars for Rick Without a doubt and all options are open honestly accept any car and festivals also knew that was not but I really look forward to what what might develop in twelve months from now in what opportunities. Virginia's might be out. There was just kind of wait and see and most importantly I feel like I need to take a deep breath and just see what kind of comes from their put. My family first instead of racing. I just once in take it from there. No I'm wide open. This is not a retirement from from driving racecars. This is slowing down from thirty eight weekends a year. And you certainly Noga. Oh the stress and pressure that Brian that that it takes in nineteen years in cup and then two years in xfinity series. Plus everything before for that one more balances is really where that sits but It's been run and we're GONNA keep going. He hasn't said this. But what I think is goal after the twenty twenty season is going to be those twenty four rolexes. Oh that's a good point. He's run it before pretty strong in it before for his Car malfunctioned if I remember correctly. So that's an interesting thought. All right he got the The final time machine all fired up ready to go. I do proved group. D capacitor is flexing. Jimmy takes us all the way back to his first meeting with his new sponsor lows for his rookie season. We had a meeting across the street over here. bricks old office area and those folks were there and Tillman was was his waiting for me to arrive at a sponsor commitment for my Bush team and was just getting back to town from it and Bob wanted to look me in the eyes and find out if I was really willing to to man up in win a race for the company and at that point that WanNa race and he literally started across the boardroom table and and put me on the spot asked me if I thought it was able to win a race dug deep and sat there and I felt like allied right and do his eyes and said Yes sir I can thankfully we delivered eighty three times since I was a bomber. Hey what race or races are on. Jimmy's list that got away. There's two okay okay. There's probably more than two but coke six hundred for rookie year coke six hundred. I'm really soft at getting into the pit blocks. We ledin hidden five hundred miles that things had five hundred plus and he's like come on buddy get into the pits pit box harder. We got to get it. Get it in here get it. In here I slide through the box. Come Out Alton third or fourth and work my way back the second one on the table so that one that one I definitely remember one other one is still today. Swear that the I should have twelve wins at Dover one Pablo spun the tires on a restart and baled and made me look bad and I beat him to the finish line and called on it so that that's another when it comes to mind that's interesting for a guy who has eighty three wins having to talk about the ones that got away. There shouldn't be that many in there but there are yeah totally totally and simple question Russian. Why retire why? Why man why I mean at the end of the day this is about time I guess when I look at next year I've been dreaming of Racine as much as I could for forty.

"She is my friend and I am excited to have her here on the show today day. Welcome is long overdue Karen. You are a nice guy. Let's get this on. What do you say well. I'm happy to be a Nice Gal on the nice guys on business and Haruna a you know that it's just an expression wasn't saying no. I guys I'm one of the guys and actually women and podcasting is kind of a off. You know still a guys network about us. Women were gals or making our roads. Thanks to you and and stricken and helping turnkey getting my podcasts launched and as you said now one hundred seventy episodes. You've been part of my heroine's journey I am I am so happy to have watched this entire process. Go go into it and and for me I don't there is no surprise because even prior to reaching me you had already had decades and decades of huge success in your life and just I knew this. I was just going to be another one of those things that you're going to be successful at it so I was excited to have you as a part of <hes> some of the early stages of turnkey what motivates you carry me and you're like ultra successful in not just in this one arena so so many the ever anybody of of everything so authoring coaching relating podcasting overcast number one while <hes> so what motivates you well for many years it was productivity hidden and that's where this whole too busy not enough time and it really became this kind of mantra this badge of honor being too busy and that yet. I felt like there was something else something more something mind to do something creative and Dan contribution oriented and that longing that called adventure you know the heroine's journey. I sat out on about five years ago and like I said you're part of it which led to me getting into coaching executive coaching which led to a doing a lot of work on what is mine to do and that led writing a book real estate success acid five minutes a day and we've had a a nice guys business conversation about that so I won't spend got a whole lot of time on that other than it really launched by podcasting <hes> sense. That often happens when you're an author. You're successful in your arena. Then people want to have you as gas and I think I was one of the Nice business one of the first podcast I was on and that led had to book sales and wow isn't that interesting how happen that I'm like okay well so if being podcast leads to book sales. I'm doing doing the math the other correlation to that could be me having upon casket lead to sales and we talk about podcasting. What's the Monetization Avenue. There's lots of other great purposes of of the podcast contribution creativity <hes> so people often wonder what do you make money at it and for me. The book look sales also being a real estate agent in the Washington. DC Metro region. I even had referrals for real estate on because of the podcasting so oh there is lots of opportunity and and so let reached out to Turkey to you and strict and while that was almost two years ago we started five minutes accents spike cast so so tell me a little bit because we know we have a number of real estate agents and brokers in our community. It just seems to be a niche needs that we have seem to have found so if there's an agent or someone that is working toward success. I mean I you know the discipline that is needed to be successful. Real estate agent is is huge huge but it's not not unlike being successful in any level of business. So what would you say to somebody. That's out there in our <hes> in our community. That's a real estate agent. Just in the beginning. Maybe maybe Cher Cher moment or two of some of the five minutes success principles that <hes> that have made you who you are today professionally well absolutely go to Amazon and get the book real estate successive orbits a day. That's a great place to start listening to the five minutes success by guests. There's key key principles and this is what led to the five minutes success podcasts and that is these core principles actually really do apply pretty universally. I've discovered after for almost one hundred two hundred interviews but one hundred seventy out on the air and the first one is committed leads so everybody does business talent prospecting lead generation. I don't have you whatever your idea whatever it is your business whatever you're selling entrepreneur any kind of professional until you have <unk> customer or client or someone to sell to you really don't have anything to do so that's where podcasting is really more in the attraction marketing type of space but in terms of actual belly to belly and you you are absolutely an expert at that but that commitment because it really is a commitment. I find that would be. We'll have that light bulb. Go Off that make that paradigm shift that like Oh. I'm just GONNA wait. Til The phone rings rather. This is a commitment. You're I'M GONNA. Go Out and do activities to lead to business development. They generation then everybody goes through the CONSULTA sell process. Some people people call that conversion you take the league you take them through. The process. Money comes out on the other end. That's what we call business and it's also actually in a lot of professions. I mean gentlest air consulting is they clean your teeth. They do a exams xrays a ministers do consulting and conversion and right now they're really everybody has some process that they take their constituency through and then at the end. There's something the real estate. It's obviously a transaction podcasting. It's podcast episodes and then there's connected and grow because what many happens with many salespeople entrepreneurs particularly they get on this hamster wheel dog. They get a lead. They get a customer the client. I had to get it to settlement or they get it through the process. They wake up and do it all over again and then have that moment where they're going okay. I assume as I do my next deal deal once that's over. I I don't have anything to do. I'm really transaction dependent so when you connect to build and grow you build a business you built sustainable ongoing ongoing scalable enterprise systems it can create leverage so what's interesting guy in so there's principles to to that too and then they'll the one that surround all his success thinking activities envisioned so that's mindset and motivation because just to maintain and grow the business you have to have that so those are the components so give me like a working working knowledge of or Gimme a little experience here. How can someone achieve a higher level success in just five minutes a day because that's the premise of your of your entire podcast in your book right five minutes success yes so the there this is actually actually a principle of Parkinson's law because limiting restricting time can actually make people more effective and efficient. There is what happens is kind of part of the whole overwhelmed wellm thing. We were like going well. I can't do all that so then they do nothing and so the idea of the five minutes this is where the idea came about was. I'm like go five minutes a day. Everybody has five minutes a day so the idea is to focus on for five minutes one principal and if you follow the real estate successive armaments a day a book. It's broken out for us daily whatever it is you. WanNa focus on whatever it is you want to achieve a higher level of success you focus on it for five minutes that creates. It's <hes>. B plans to see grades domino effect in some cases. You're more likely to remember it and be able to apply it and put it into practice later in the day the next day the next week the next year because too much information can be as soon. Nami like that's what happens with a lot of books or seminars or training. You're like going wow. This is really great but it's I. I don't know how to apply to get into your practice so the idea putting one thing into practice into your business every day one idea when concept takes five minutes to read then you figure out how to put it into practice or if it maybe it's something that's not offer now but at some point you'll say a. Ha I remember that strategy and I'm a had this happen with an agent he had read about first mover advantage Asia and it was like in November and he had a customer who wanted to list for sale and the customers like taking <music> all using all the language of yeah. We're going to the spring. We're going to do next year. We're going to you know kept putting it down. The road in the agent remembered I liver advantage and he says you know there's a first mover advantage and I'm really thinking that if you went on the market right now you're the only one that will be on the market that you would have an advantage that I think you should do it now and that that created enough urgency for that seller to get on the market and sold and so the idea is he scripts and dialogues these ideas <hes> are delivered in Yeah L. Five minutes a day so you're getting more likely to remember it when it's time to use them so. I'm looking at your your website and look at the praise. Praise the tab that you have a nice guy community. If you WANNA really see how she is received by her entire community of <hes> of followers look at her praise tab and literally there's dozens thousands if not hundreds of of people that are singing your praises in in picture in video form and and it's true that it has been so well received why do do you think that is the case can well back to the way you started the introduction having so many people one of the things right now is that people will be like they don't have enough time and five minutes is actually. I think the attention span that Google's as if people have so it resonates are like okay I could do that. It's achievable global. It actually gives you a win. You do it early in the morning. Start the day with it and it does have this. It has several impacts it can have a domino affect impact world knock over a bunch of ideas at once or it can have a more of a snowball cumulative effect amaury. It can also have a ripple effect. You like you'll make one change and then you'll start seeing other things impacted so because it doesn't on so many different levels depending on where you are in your business life that it's it's. I think that's what people are resonating with so when you when did you realize it was time to do this second book. Flip time love life and maybe explained the title a little bit more a little bit more in depth and <hes> and when did you realize it was time to write the book as often happens when people achieve a high level success us and they start to look around ago. Okay is this all there is I mean I love my life really truly doug. I have wonderful husband married to for thirty two years to successful young adult children travel the world have a best business partner ever great business best year ever and so. It's like well okay. There is still something more and that's where I think the creativity and the contribution came but I also had felt a little burned out like okay. I'm going to do this again. Kind of sometimes you get into routine after doing something for seventeen years you no you how many episodes of podcasts at right so you like going okay what what what's missing and what was missing. Is this meaningful work. Somebody will call Zona genius <hes>. I think that's a gay hendricks term. <hes> meaningful workflow self actualization is really what stuck with me and that is masses. IOS hierarchy of needs. I felt like I had worked my way up the pyramid and I had all those needs worked out but I was like self actualization. Just kept getting off and that's where I I had this epiphany like what if you were to flip. The pyramid revered a flip time because often. It's tempting acting or people feel self care self <hes>

Surprise win at Charlotte "monumental" for Ryan Blaney's confidence

"Chatting with Sunday's winner at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Ryan Blaney. We've spoken of winning the race and running the race, but what about the benefits of that? Race? Ryan. What about the tea? Where does this team stand right now? What did this win do for the guys as you head into over this weekend? Huge. You know, we, we were looking at this first round lead into the playoffs and and honestly we were this was around, we were most worried about because there's a couple of tracks in here where we weren't sure how we're going to run. You know, Vegas honest. We're going to run a little bit better there, but Richmond, that's been a track where we've struggled. And I thought we made a big gain there and practicing qualifying and the race we, we struggled really bad and had a terrible day, and that's kinda got us nervous about what we were sitting in the points. And then you go to the role that you just don't know what to expect. Anything can happen. You don't know if you're gonna be good, bad getting Iraq. You don't know everyone's a little bit nervous going into the robo, but you know, even before we won the race, we did our job and ran how we needed to get into the next round on points. But whenever you can win, especially in the playoffs, it's just a huge confidence booster not only to me but to the team as well. And to do it in that fashion I think was was it was neat, and I know they're really excited to. Going and around to. I feel like has some really good tracks for us. So hopefully we can capitalize on that stuff. But yeah, it's just a huge confidence booster everybody and confidence a big thing, this sport, and we, we definitely have it right now. Hopefully we can keep it for a while.
