Hamlin holds off Busch in OT in wild Coca-Cola 600

"By the time the checkered flag flew at Charlotte Motor Speedway they'd been through two overtimes and 619 and a half miles and pole sitter Denny Hamlin had found his way back to the front for his first win in the Coca-Cola 600 It's a big one I mean it's one of the three majors we got in our sport and it's one that I hadn't won and to be part of the Koch family for as long as I have and to finally win is awesome Hamlin took the lead at the end of the first overtime when he was able to avoid a multi car wreck that took out the leaders Chase Briscoe brought out the first overtime spinning with tulips to go and regulation while battling for the lead with Kyle Larson Kyle Busch finished second to Hamlin Brett McMillan Concord North

"Like that's the kind of energy I was getting from these people. And when I was told about the group chat, I originally thought it was just a bunch of people watching my tiktoks and making fun of it. Like, look at this stupid girl. She goes on a lot of dates. Like, what a loser. And I didn't really care. I thought it was really lame and uncool. But then it got scary 'cause I realized that some of the employees of these bars that I was going to were letting this group chat know every time that I was in the bar. Coco's in here, guys. And it was a variation of things that were being said. What a stupid whore, let's vanquish her from Columbia pike. I'm going to end her. Who chooses violence tonight? They kept mentioning the word violence. And I get that that's a figure of speech, right? Like, I choose violence. "Handlers locked in on points and basically harvick close close. Plus ninety five radic dylan. A surprise winner would probably have to change this up. So real quick. All right harvick dylan somebody else. But you got. Give me three names. Gonna fill in behind any handling. Can we all agree harverson. Yes harverson i say so no know. We need one day one name. My math best one. Who joins harvard. This if i'm if i'm reading or austin dillon. I am scared to death until the checkered flag day on because anybody can get somebody who can jump in there and win you. Don't see on their stenhouse guys lower down in rent even if even if we're going daytona today in the points look like that rhetoric has to go to daytona thinking that he's got to win race agree. Yeah so that when you drop like that. It's easygoing pointed backwards finding indirect. If i'm radic. I am trying to gain twelve points to fifteen points in michigan to make my teammate dylan. Oh he needs to win. Yeah right like so then. My point is if if i can get a big enough gap. I still think. I might have to win but i don't have to raise the first two stages that way. Okay i disagree. Because what. Ross chastain wins. I know i know that's the crazy thing. That is the crazy thing about points. Read it and i hear what you're saying. Yeah but rick and did everything they were supposed to do yesterday. So everything. Punch counterpunch watching. That was fascinating to me to watch because rennick would be up there and then everybody would pit at the end of the stage because they will trying to win the race. I'm battling for points out of a new it or knocks me out that we should one but i'm not gonna so let me let me back out. Everything you just said sunk in so your point is if you have enough points going you could ride the first two stages and not have to worry about because if you if you lose points to delay point but then you have to have to look those two to go both stages disaster dylan but he walks into daytona knows. He's done victor lane. He's out argue. But if you don't racer points and you let austin dillon's sit there and get stage point stage points and i either way either way he goes to daytona. If everything's the same day he goes the daytona thanking. Somebody else might win this race. I say the seventy year you know what you really need to be doing is making sure. In february you have speech guys that you should care about daytona in september advantage. We say all the time you say it all the time we we will come out of there and say well. This guy missed it by three points. This guy mr tim boy he missed it in february. Missed it and mark. You missed it. In april he missed it in combat. The points count say total. And it's amazing how they add one to poisoning bills. They just keep coming this at their annual the name. What was the name. John john. you're on. Hey guys thanks for taking my call but This question more. For steve. Talking about The car setups primarily with the penske group break packages Thinking about the last two weeks. It seemed like they've been having some brake issues. So do you think it's more of something that they're experimenting with on the road courses. Or how does that work from a car setup standpoint. So i believe it's car setup. I don't think it's as much breaking can't do a lot of the actual brake-components you're locked in there's only so many different calipers and breaks and pads and wrote or combinations really high. Your car is set up and what shocking to me is brackets. Laskey breaking has been a disaster a two road courses. I mean a disaster but blaney seemed to be okay. Lugano seemed to be okay which is concerning to me heading to the found the two car. I'm trying to you know it's funny. How you get a little stubborn with some setup items like well. We got around this spring. That's not what's wrong with our breaking. How do you know right. So that's gonna be the toughest part. Is you think you know. What part affects you know the breaking so much but you don't really know so if i am the two car they were just flat bad yeah they were just flat so i would have to definitely change something in my setup because it all starts with corner entry into the brakes you sit in two weeks row. They were just a watkins glen. He spun on his own teammate. Alan women at well. How about this one. Talk about perseverance and points brad. Keselowski stuff the spoiler to the rear glass. Yes and yet was still there. When when six months ago he was running seventeenth eighteenth. It was like. Are you kidding me. I mean that's where we land lined up. You know what i mean. But it's like okay i mean. Do we have if we have to finish finish up from all the rundown because we have got some different guys in the top ten. We got eric jones jerry. Jones was there jones's. My dad and i talked to my dad last night. He said hey. We went from twenty seven seventh in one lamp. And i said that's because you were twenty seven and everybody in between you.

"I i don't know why they put i don't i don't know why they double curved it lazy role wall so so you're to say we go. Let's us less use watkins glen. She's walking as an example so when when we went to watkins glen and they put the bus stop him after after multiple wrecks at the long back stretch and carrying so much speed off into to that back corner. They put the bus stop. Okay so the curves rumble strips. I they put i they had some fairs okay so that didn't help anything because we'd spin out in the grass. Okay and the thing. They put curbs in going turning into the today that were at about that shape you had to run around them. You had to run around. It wasn't a curb you could run over. It was it was. I mean water would run off of it. I mean it was there but you couldn't hit it because if you did hit it absolutely sent you over here somewhere and we all know. It's tough to go through. It'd be almost impossible with the way those were. But that's back in the nineties back. We all the way back to there. So the thing is we built. Curbing the cars can take and that is low enough. It's not a detriment to hit so back to cow's point if we're gonna have curbing let's have row carving man you mean let's have curbing has some substance to it look at this. It's just a rough spot in a row when you see it. that's not. It is a lot when you have ground clearance.

"All weekend long okay and decides come apart put early in this race. Don't get me wrong but then late in the race it just catastrophic failure catastrophic thing so i don't think you need to think nascar has a program where they go in two or three weeks ahead of time they evaluate the race track. They see what it is. They understand it. obviously they felt it was. Okay the bulls and the gadget at indy. They felt it was. Okay yeah and it was okay for a while when it broke the first time an enhanced site when we had the first failure with with the underpants that went under it. That's when it needed to be looked at and needed to be reevaluated. But i don't think changing their procedures on and a lot of ways needs to be done so let's split forward the it fails they remove it. Would you bet okay. If nascar india's said you know what that's enough guys. We don't have a safe way to continue in not restarted the race when it failed at the very end. And that's the bigger that they would not have been hearing personally would have been personally for two reasons. Okay for two years. I you had a catastrophic failure of a part of the racetrack. Just like if offense comes down and the fans are exposed. It's a catastrophic failure to the racetrack number. One number two for the safety of the drivers for the safety of the drivers say now. We're going to send them out there and make them run to the racetrack. They'd never been before they've been on it. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that. But they've not come through here at speed this way and i mean there's.

"Hamlin. Chase brisk on the outside are we. Okay with denny's move and are we. Okay with briscoes evasive. Acco right so so to me tastes briscoe. Did a great job got a great star. Now he gets out in term one and there's nowhere for him to get back on the track. Now i can't be mad at denny hamlin for that. He's three he's he's too wide. Briscoe tries to come back on the racetrack they're free. Why what's hamlet gonna do to the outside of all right so now here's briscoe through the grass and those at home or like. He's got us urva penalty right. Who knows but you're in that car and you're gonna serve a penalty. Does somebody tell you to serve penalty like you're going to drive. That's important because i'm not a race car driver. You wanna ton raises in your mind. You're going until you hear otherwise hundred percent behind. I agree with that one hundred. So if i'm at talladega and i'm coming to the white flag the checkered flag pass by below the yellow line. Not gonna just say. Oh well i asked the line. I'm going to make them make the call right. And so and on top of that and you not situation back when we were young. Here's a kid. A young man this trying to get his first win in his hometown in indianapolis indiana at the brickyard. All those emotions are real and so to sit at home and say well you do head served penalty like just serve the. It's not gonna happen and it shouldn't it chased briscoe in my opinion shouldn't have served apparently till he told deserve. That's my opinion. that's that's turned one. Yeah yeah and listen. I and i'm not so sure. I'm i'm just going to throw it out there and say if i'd been chased briscoes place and i had heard that audio. I raised them all the way. The checkered flag race. Run them all the way check and made them do something to me. Made them put me somewhere. You know what. I mean for the burger. They did put back on the last lap. Mama pull over. If you're going to penalize me or you're gonna part you're going to put me back there anyhow.

And i have a lot of respect for the patients. That's been required by matt colleague to do that. I have. I have a great deal of respect for that we need. We need that energy from new car owners who you know what i mean. We have to have our sport needs that. He's just done things right. He's a long-term player. "He put himself in position. He found a way to avoid the chaos and he put himself in position to win the race and when it was time to execute he was right there to get it done a great restart the second last restart. He picked up a ton of spots on the inside that putting them position. And that's when you hire. Aj amadeo go drive. You've caught indianapolis on the record that that's why you hired him because he can make that move and many others can got a big w beside his name okay. There's not an asterisk says while all this stuff happened in the last six laps. It's not. There's a big w beside his name. Simple it is you know he won the race. Everybody had an opportunity. They were just in the place to take advantage of the opportunity that was given them. And you've got to give it to him. Man i mean he was. They were dumbfounded though. I mean dale jarrett were standing in victory lane. And i i know. He thanked his mom his first grade teacher. The first person to ever changed the diaper and all that stuff but he didn't know what to say. He honestly was speechless and the have. Aj amending or speechless. We know that working with him. He's never speechless. He's got an opinion but he and those guys were gist dumbfounded that they had made a call at put themselves in a position where y'all some said. They had great tires at the end of the race at some of the freshest tires on the racetrack and was able to capitalize on so congratulations. Congratulations to a team. This run. what five or six races have four hands two or three top fives and now a win and just six or seven cup races. So it's gonna be. That's good for the sport. So that's good for this before we move on. Let's talk about the team. Matt colleague buys to charter school. Full-time racing nastier justin haley driver. We know almond diggers around there. He has invested a ton of time and money. It's been a long time since we've seen a part timer yet if the cup series and listen come in and you know we've seen a lot of owners coming here and just throw money throw money. "Welcome into nascar. America motormouth guys. That i won't lie about for long. I had to make sure. I had the name right here. Calculating we've been down for a few weeks because of the olympics back from indianapolis. There's so much to unpack first of all we want you the fans call one eight. Four four nascar. nbc carlynn. Let us know you thought about it. Jeff okay let's before we get into briscoe terming everything. Let's start with a weekend. I didn't think i would ever see my lifetime. And that is nascar and indycar. Happy to be at the same track together on the same weekend. I was bravo for the race fans. Bravo for the weekend. I thought it was a great step for motorsports in the us. It was a fun weekend. The added energy in the end. The infield was big. It was real fans liked being there. That infield energy reminded me of a little bit of what we used to see there. We didn't see you know. Obviously full stands but that energy and infield was real. It was fun. It was fun. We saw you know indycar drivers drivers and vice versa. It was it was just a fun weekend all the way round. I know we had some issues but but that will that weekend. We'll have to be done again. Saturday was interesting. Because you have fans that had come to see leo and dixon and all those guys and all of a sudden they're watching harrison and these guys are like man. I like this race. And then you've got guys that came to watch the xfinity race and they're like never been to an indycar race before what a great day. This is so. I agree with you. The energy level and the excitement of what they were going to see. They weren't sure what they were gonna see but they knew they were going to see something different on that saturday. Kind of like when we first went there with the brickyard. They didn't know what they were going. They were going to see so selfishly. Um i got to do the indy. Five hundred but we don't get to go to indiana car races. We work right nascar races every weekend for the second half of the year. So south ashley. I was excited to to attend to rate. And i want my brain krant a little bit watching big vinnie cars and the indy cars on the same thing. I just couldn't believe the grip those indycars make and how easy they make the switch backs transitions. Look but look. It was a big weekend for sports but the race itself was smooth for two thirds of it and had a pretty chaotic last five or six. Lattes let's go back and relive the fanatic of the final few laughs from the nascar raise. We'll be six laps to go when they get the green flag. This has been an intense race. They're going to be some gods trey side-by-side through turns five and six back in the air. They're paying into the grinding cars. Coming out of number six all that contact between the two leaders allow twenty twenty-five spanning but twenty bars. There's a wall here. We got caught. William byron is reporting that the curb came up. He hit the curb in the twenty. Four th robos cars destroyed to laugh to determine who will be the first ever to win on the road course indianapolis and there's four from avenue on the back straightaway. You jump right there once again. Hard on the gas across the yard of bricks. here's frisco to the outside. But he's off against prisco will come back onto the grass. And now he will be side by side with denny hamlin. He leaves them in the senate prisco right on his tail. Let's say the court car. He don racing's for the win. That put all the league. Bristow will have to serve a pillory. Another chapter written into the anti history. Ha all the bigger cross yard of bricks. Who winter ought to be in. This is unbelievable. I in my wildest dreams could never imagine the way that just played out. Maybe i love you so much mom and dad all my friends and family. Oh my god. That's just wanted to indy. Not.

"I had no reason to reckon. So he was continuing to raise hamlin for the lead after he cut turned to nascar has said that they're going to review the radio communications to see how the information was relayed from spotter to driver because dell junior said it on our broadcast before they reach. Turn seven that chase briscoe is gonna stop and go here so curcio perspective did. Did someone air here in terms of the team relaying. The information you buy the chase briscoe didn't know what's going on here. I put this one on chase so if he would have gone down in their cooked it a little hot and miss track limits by two feet had the wrong tyres on the wrong side of curb. I don't want to get into the details of it. Mr by two feet and didn't know. Then how would he have known. It was really close. Maybe you should've known the mainland. Mario kart through the grass. So i i think while we get to the curbing and all the track limits indianapolis motor speedway could needs to look at that. There shouldn't be a physical opportunity for a driver to shortcut. The course my point being. I'm okay that there's runoff. And i'm okay. The he had grass. But i would like to see some offset tire packs. Not that he's going to run into some nice branding on there that he has to slow down and s around therefore he can't pop out on the other side next to denny hamlin. He's gonna pop out on the other side and like fifteen hundred twentieth then. We don't have to have stop and go right so if you say you missed turn one and you go straight. There is an access road that allows you to come back to turn to with no stop-and-go you don't have to stop because for u. s. around that road nascar because we know you're gonna lose ten or twenty spots. We're not worried about same thing for turn twelve. So he was a no-man's-land right. He didn't just miss the curb and and he didn't do the access road. He went straight through the grass. Yeah i mean you can't shortcut it that much. In my opinion i would love to hear the radios. Well i've yet to hear it. I don't know who spots for briscoe at that end of the race track because it can be complicated multiple spotters. But i think chase briscoe. I think it's a little naive to think that he had to wait for someone to tell him that he pushed it too far. I do believe as we continue. I don't blame me. I would have never said it before but now that we've seen this. I think we should react to it. I'd like to see a couple of offsetting tire barriers. Or i don't even care if it's promotional sign something that forces the guy. When he gets down in the grass he had to like slowdown. Turn left turn right. Rejoined the field. Then way we don't have to worry about stopping goes like every comes back on the track hammer down good to go because he was able to just slide pretty much right through the grass. I mean obviously lifted off a little bit but you right. i am. One shouldn't be out somewhere tenth fifteenth. We don't have to worry about stop and goes let's let's make track limits only when you barely miss it. There shouldn't be an opportunity for literally to go straight to the team. Bear any responsibility and making sure the driver knows the penalty and that sort of i mean they're very chief that spot or all of those do crew. Chief is going to be watching on tv because he can't see it down there but you know it's chaotic on the radio. I mean someone should have informed him on the long back. Stretch is six eight seconds of wide open throttle that you're going to have the penalty. We're going to serve panel. We're going to have server penalty in the end. I mean the race car driver needs to know where the track limits are like. I think it should have been clear that he had i mean even danny was kind of like come on man. You didn't think that was a penalty. Seems a little bit impossible. And then then then so say i'll go on further. I'm kind of at odds with him. Wrecking hitting denny hamlin square in the bumper. Even if he was going for the win his words after the race for something about turn ten guys leaving the door open that's denny block left right. That was that was chasing explanation. Was well guys. We're kind of getting lazy off that corner. And i thought i could slide in or them just break out brigham. But yeah you watch congratulations. You didn't get lazy. So i ran you over watched the video and it's like well didn't he didn't leave you an opening so you hit the brakes chase and i know how much it means to them or whatever but you know i was the guy that was on the tv call. When tigers gibbs one watkins glen. And i was so happy the way he did it. I'm sorry like chased. Didn't drive in there and run over his fender him in the door. He hit him in the bumper cover. He powder he just spent him out. He just clearly spun him out whether it was militias on purpose doesn't matter he's still spun out. I was shocked at how danny handled it. It's funny though. Because as he was talking all i saw was him dumping chase elliott at martinsville in my head. I just kept seeing it. And that's like i love it. I can't wait to talk to anybody that what you were thinking about what you said. I've been on both sides of this chasing they're going. You wrecked me and which me right so i was amazed at how he handled it. But i i. I like chase so it's hard to like. Call him out. Yeah you got me man. I got nothing for you. You went straight through the grass. You shouldn't was a penalty one too. I don't put the onus on the team at the spa you went straight through the grass miss feet. And then you hit the guy square in the bumper in your rectum. So he's a rookie. Chuck up learning experience. Which is too bad because now listen. I'm okay with the move but let's not make it sound like he just missed a corner. I mean ran him off track. But that's but that's what happens when you're on the outside going to try and restart right the leader you sort of have that prerogative to receive issue. Yeah let's talk about any firm and now you bring that up. I saw a lot of that on social. That people were impressed with the way the composure. He showed the classy show the way he handled it. I think a lot of people thought this was a fistfight. And it wasn't i mean. Denny made his point very firmly. You're in the wrong but he didn't necessarily raise his voice too much didn't get animated. He just let it play out. Is that aside denny. Hamlin that maybe we don't see years ago because now he's the team owner. I i do think that all has to do with it. He's now in a lot. More meetings ever been in from all the different hats he wears and he's vocal in the garage. Area has every right to be right. He's a superstar. I hope that there's a second conversation right because it happened at pit road probably had to happen now like shirley. We're not just gonna go drop the green at michigan right. Like if i'm chase. I reach probably backout thursday friday and be like hey man. I went back and reviewed it back and watched it. Here's my opinion. Now because danny got to be denny because i don't know who the veterans were when he came in i'd have to go. Look bobby labonte. Probably dale jarrett's whoever's well now he's those guys in goes great. He's going to be there for a long time right. So so i i liked the fact. That danny doesn't need another enemy in this world. So what does he do. Stop down what. What does that do for him. I mean nothing changes the thing. So you're right. I mean it's de hamlin was rookie in two thousand six. This'll be the sixteenth season. The cup series new year right like the guys. Jeff gordon dale jarrett. Those guys stole would have been around. Probably molding him at that. Point in an indirect way tony stewart is obviously yeah interesting thought there so it felt like two races stevie the i seventy five laps or so were terrific. I thought this road course you know we were talking before we taping this as you put. It was beautiful in terms of layout had everything. Yeah the the way. It's sort of engendered. Some really strong racing. You guys spin out you guys lean. You didn't have full.

"The table pay cash outright and not even get alone in order for more sales to be higher for the next home to be able to sell higher and this really truly is one of these things that really i believe the market needs about every ten years and we haven't had one since the to range so twenty years fifteen years behind. There's so many questions i have. Because we've got an expert on. Maybe i just ask you a couple more and we'll get into the story the other thing that you know what's amazing about the us and it's very different from let's say in developed asia as an example is simply no way a bank could give you a fixed rate thirty year mortgage but in america. That's you know typical and for a bank to hold a three three and a half percent fixed thirty year. Mortgage dega die. I mean what happens if rates go up and so i suspect it. Most banks are pushing this on defending freddie mac. They're pushing it. It's fat freddie and fannie driven right now so that that's unique thing about the us market where we have a secondary market in the us. That just doesn't exist. In many many other countries which means the federal government ultimately finances dad by funding fannie mae and freddie mac through long-term borrowings that are close to treasury rates. Let's say i believe that. That's the main source of funding. I haven't looked at fannie. Mae and freddie mac but ultimately if interest rates rise it's not going to be the banks that are going to be holding that potential loss. It'll be fannie mae and freddie mac serves sold controlled so they're investors holding it. Yes i can see. You would say that if you think about the economy being able to move velocity of money so when the bank has to hold the money hold the paper. Then there isn't any velocity so this creates philosophy and as goes housing so goes the economy. I mean think about everything that is generated jobs and economy's based on housing. Because so there is some i say justification for it. I understand it. It really comes out of you know the again after what happened after world war two and they realized they needed to stimulate the economy housing. It's going to stimulate the economy just about as fast as anything. I have a theory. And that is that fannie mae and freddie mac could now probably be privatized and rather than be on the government's side that government did a great job at setting it up and getting it going. It would cause interest rates it would cause fannie mae and freddie mac's funding to rise the cost of their funding to rise but it may actually prevent some incentives of super-low you being able to do super low rates but of course super low rates are fantastic for the consumer but sometimes that can bring risk like fannie mae and freddie mac experience some pretty troubling times in the last the two thousand eight. It really was different because i. This is not my first rodeo. Several of real estate since early eighties. This is a different rodeo. So what was different about that was at the lyndon guidelines were so loose. Really you really just had to breathe and show up in sign up and right now the guidelines do follow the credit and collateral. And that means i remember. Fha was pushing fannie mae..

When will the West Seattle Bridge be fixed, and how much will it cost?

When will the West Seattle Bridge be fixed, and how much will it cost?

"Has been nearly a year since the West Seattle Bridge closed down because of the cracking concrete, and now we're getting some prediction on when it might be open again. Here's Chris Sullivan, and that prediction is the end of June 2022 that is the target goal for returning traffic to the West Seattle Bridge, But that's about a space Civic is the city can be. I would like to be very, very specific about the time and date when you will be able to drive across the bridge. I cannot give that to you today that Seattle's mobility director, Heather Marks, who also also cautions West Seattle residents that include herself that even when the repairs are complete, that doesn't necessarily mean the traffic is going to immediately return. This is not a repair where we're just going to drop tools when we're done and open up the bridge, too. Traffic. We want to make sure that this is safe and we want to be able to measure and see how the bridge and the repairs respond to additional live load. Drivers should expect that the lanes to will open little by little over the days and weeks after repairs are complete, primarily just for safety and to prevent backups. We also need to think about how to create the conditions under which when we open up that first lane Everybody doesn't you know, heard to the bridge and we have backups from follow. Right, Fareed I five. So we need to think about that to the city has reached the 30% design Fresh Holden milestone on this project, and the request for bids went public yesterday. It's gonna be an interesting partnership. The way that they're doing. This is that they're bringing the contractor on board at this point. That will allow the contractor the winning contractor to work with the city on final design, from 30% completion to the end that allows them to see any potential problems and design as they're doing it that also helps speed up the process. It's expected that the repairs we will begin in November, repairs to the lower Spokane Street Bridge or also included in this contract that needs a little shoring up works and cracked filling, and it also might need some repair to the center locking mechanism. Mark says. It is possible that there will be times when both the high and the low bridge will be closed the same time, But she expects those to be brief. To the extent that we have to close the low bridge. We're gonna aim for weekends or holiday weekends to make sure that we're disrupt. Thing as few people as possible. Now, Speaking of that low bridge discussions are ongoing about how to allow more access to that lower bridge on call. Medical workers have been added to the list of people who can use that bridge while racing to the hospital. But they end up getting it a photo enforcement ticket and then have to prove they were an emergency call to get that wiped away. Not really the most efficient way to do things. Seattle police have told me that automated photo enforcement issued more than 7500 tickets in the 1st 15 days of February. That's just a two week period. But since then, and more the word has gotten out. The city says that more than 2000 fewer vehicles a day are now using that bridge, which means okay, maybe we have a little extra capacity. And there's a big push right now to allow people who need life saving medical care like chemotherapy or dialysis to use the bridge, but The problem is Terminal five, is going to reopen for business on Harbor Island next year. And so the city is worried that if they allow more access now, they'll have to take it away later and they don't want to do that. They don't want to carry that. Briscoe start opening a lot more. We'll be exactly because they're going to see significant amount of freight traffic. And because of that, they're going to see the capacity go away. As for the money, the dollar figures in all of this $175 million is the budget. That covers the repairs to the West Seattle Bridge. The lower Spokane Street Bridge also includes the money already spent for the showing process, traffic mitigation improvements being made in West Seattle. The monitoring work city already has about 124 million of that, and it's aggressively looking for Mawr's, according to Sam, Zimbabwe, the head of the Transportation Department. We're moving are a lot of different paths forward. We don't project that funding is going to be the challenge that Holds us up in this, but we still have some some fresh holds across and make sure that we have the resources needed to bring this resource back online.

"You're listening to shortwave. From. NPR. Adriana Briscoe has probably forgotten more about butterflies than you are. I will ever know probably. Yes. That's a fair assessment. She's professor of Biology and Ecology at the University of California Irvine and my lab studies, the evolution of coloration and vision in butterflies. Now you can probably guess that butterflies see with. Their eyes. Thanks to these little light detecting cells called photo. But they also have those photo receptors in. Interesting places. They have four receptors genitalia. Genitals, you can imagine how that might be beneficial to them because dear listeners, I could not imagine how but it turns out that females use these special cells that detect light on their genitals to figure out where to lay an egg they need to do this kind of quickly to avoid being eaten by bird So we think that it's probably a losing early advantageous for them because they can very quickly point and shoot egg I mean that's as good as reason as any other to have you know photoreceptors in your genitals I think. Yup and males also have photoreceptors in their Genitalia and day need them in order to meet So if you paint those. Gentle photoreceptors over blockade. The males try to court and try to mate and they just can't complete. It can't do it. First of all, I have a lot of questions for whoever designed that experiment and second. The State of 'The Black Quarterback': A Conversation with Donovan McNabb

"Over a decade ago my Business Partner Hall of Fame Quarterback Warren Moon. I sat down to discuss. How can we stop? The labeling of black quarterbacks are dream was for some day they're not to be that description at all. I was blessed to sit down with Donovan. Mcnabb one of his men teas and proteges to discuss the status and progression of black quarterbacks in the NFL. This is entrepreneurs. The playbook hey I wanted to have a conversation about black quarterbacks and as you know it's been a big part of my career has warned being a client and then a partner of mine are dream. Ten years ago was that nobody would ever say black quarterback right but I think you know to this day that they don't use it as much but I see a hangover when I look at you not be in the hall of fame or the way that Warren's marketed because they don't want that story told about six years in Canada right right and then there's just an under Tony it's unintentional. It's like even with the metoo movement. Things go on aren't intentional. It's social development social. How can we help? Expediter accelerate people understanding the equality. That exists I you have to appreciate I don't think we're at a point where we appreciate the level of evolution. That's going on and I say that because he wanted to mention. Hey you know you were kind of guy that passed the torch in them like no. The torch was already late for Marlin Bristow Gilliam and dumb and James James Harris and those particular guys. It was then but it wasn't one that was accepted and then. I think when you mentioned the warnings and the Randall Donovan. Before I thought it was a warm place you played when you played but it was. It was kind of a it. Wasn't it wasn't appreciate and when? I say that you know it was the yard that Warren Password worn was Dan Marino. We'll be talking about how radio because his numbers are comparable today without the six years in candidate. But I I think what we're seeing now is. We're seeing people start to understand the level of talent ability. How cerebral these kids are. They can play from the pocket and their leaves. These are all things that when they mentioned about. You'll see that in in the list now and says it has it's literally presidential but but the thing is you have to be able to take a step back and say you know what these kids can play the quarterback position. And when you look at the collegiate ranks then more black quarterbacks in the collegiate good ones so again it goes back to happen understand. What the level we go through and give it to appreciate what we're seeing you know. I do allow entrepreneurs and I talked about patients who and the need to be offended or or resentful. And it's so interesting with all those guys that you talk to your mom. Briscoe someone that in California. We do a ton of work with for years trying to get that movie made by the way you know. It's a really good movie and a really good story but nobody's really resentful and angry or offended. How do you have the patience to wait for the reality to come about that? All the top quarterbacks are going to be evaluated by their talent. Well here we have old. School mentality shouts and tell you them telling evaluators who still have that. Well he's black quarterback what are we just evaluated his ability. How intelligent he is. The family background would become as he comes out. It's nothing else that you need to focus on focus on his color. You only public hair. You have to focus on how he wants. You know the the focus needs to be more of the position and that's what we're seeing we have. We have been after the American insult that people are afraid to talk about now. He will say well. We don't need talking about though. He's the third every America's worries. They play of great ones. The greatest african-american quarterback did win. The might. I've worked with before because the caregiver Steve but this could be an opportunity for a guy who people love is ability. Yeah and then. They want to question the thing about his character. What are you looking at? Are you looking more deep into trying to fight the negative or how good this really with? Doug flutie yeah who has a lot of similarities to a lot of running quarterback and I said if you were an African American would have been your chances even to play in the CFL for how old he is. He said there won't be a chance ever but stories like that people boss. Yeah well that's what I wanted in talking to people over and and it's important for us to focus on that because it's not gonNA stop. I mean we're looking at. We've looked at five afterward quarterback just in the playoffs alone. Yeah headed had a chance to have to play it in title game and then it's GonNa continue to grow where mean who's to say feels doesn't get drafted in the next year or two from Ohio state. Then I was talking about him. It's exciting right now. You've been one of those guys. They continue to grind the path. I'm on your team. As far as I'm Jay Hall of Famer right here. More people need to be aware of the issues that we're facing and this guy needs to be in the hall of fame and many others because we're building a pipeline hall of famers. It's a shame that Warren Moon American and I appreciate the respect. I love warranty. That's right I n there. I appreciate your insight and honesty thanksgiving.

Chase Briscoe confirmed at Stewart-Haas Racing for 2020

"Risky brisky is in studio. What's happening what's up chase briscoe nothing? I'm busy busy busy whole big time over here. I'll know about that has re upped with Tony Stewart at Stewart House Racing Gene Haas to compete again in the expended series. And I could be more exciting. I thought you were awesome last year in the car. You know got win in Iowa and I think you should contend for a championship. Don't you think yeah I think yeah pretty good you know. We don't have a ton of changes. I mean roles wise. It's the same. We have a new body on the Mustang. But yeah I mean there's going to be the first time in my career I've been able to go back with the same team in the same crew chief so looking forward to what do you think of the new pitstop procedures that were just announced. Yeah I just saw literally about thirty minutes ago but I think you you know at Iowa. I don't really think it's going to change anything but I do feel like at the road courses. It's GonNa Change them completely because there's no more short pitting anymore. There's no more flipping stages so so for me. I think it's a little bit worse. Because now you're going to have awesome syndrome out front in maintaining track position the hallway. So it's going to make it harder. I think to win the road course races because it's GonNa take a lot of the strategy out of it but it's hard to say right now we haven't done it yet so it's hard to say what it's going to be like but yeah I think it's going to be easier to maintain track position on a road course so fast on a road course. I think it's definitely a positive for you for sure. The move really helps money-wise for some of these smaller teams but the cup series teams were flying people into standalone races to do the crew and some of them have their own crews. I guess but a lot of the Rian flying flown end so that costed everything kind of brings that cost down but I agree with you. The road course racing is going to change that totally but as far as the racing product on track. It's not going to change that very much. Yeah I think you know it's not going to change the especially at the Iowa and the places like that Barocco where the fast guys stay up front so yeah. I think that's GonNa be the only place where you really see a difference in this new. Whatever you WANNA call? It rule changed. But I think it's going to be just normal Iowa and you can still pit when you want to pay it or whatever or you're just GONNA lose positions on pit road which like you said it's a good thing and it does definitely say the teams a lot of money if anything. It might make the racing a little bit better just because so you know if you have a guy like Ryan SEGER Jeremy Clements. That doesn't necessarily have the pick crew caliber of a pin skier Stewart. Haas if they can get up to sixth seventh or eighth or whatever or you know they can stay there now so dropping back five or six spots in a pit road so it's probably GonNa make the racing better the short tracks but you know it's hard to say I was going to do of course is this for you is. Is this the first time that you've since you've stock cars. You'll be in the same car two years in a row saint team but like same actual type of car era xfinity car in two thousand eighteen. Learning to Flip Time and Love Life

"She is my friend and I am excited to have her here on the show today day. Welcome is long overdue Karen. You are a nice guy. Let's get this on. What do you say well. I'm happy to be a Nice Gal on the nice guys on business and Haruna a you know that it's just an expression wasn't saying no. I guys I'm one of the guys and actually women and podcasting is kind of a off. You know still a guys network about us. Women were gals or making our roads. Thanks to you and and stricken and helping turnkey getting my podcasts launched and as you said now one hundred seventy episodes. You've been part of my heroine's journey I am I am so happy to have watched this entire process. Go go into it and and for me I don't there is no surprise because even prior to reaching me you had already had decades and decades of huge success in your life and just I knew this. I was just going to be another one of those things that you're going to be successful at it so I was excited to have you as a part of <hes> some of the early stages of turnkey what motivates you carry me and you're like ultra successful in not just in this one arena so so many the ever anybody of of everything so authoring coaching relating podcasting overcast number one while <hes> so what motivates you well for many years it was productivity hidden and that's where this whole too busy not enough time and it really became this kind of mantra this badge of honor being too busy and that yet. I felt like there was something else something more something mind to do something creative and Dan contribution oriented and that longing that called adventure you know the heroine's journey. I sat out on about five years ago and like I said you're part of it which led to me getting into coaching executive coaching which led to a doing a lot of work on what is mine to do and that led writing a book real estate success acid five minutes a day and we've had a a nice guys business conversation about that so I won't spend got a whole lot of time on that other than it really launched by podcasting <hes> sense. That often happens when you're an author. You're successful in your arena. Then people want to have you as gas and I think I was one of the Nice business one of the first podcast I was on and that led had to book sales and wow isn't that interesting how happen that I'm like okay well so if being podcast leads to book sales. I'm doing doing the math the other correlation to that could be me having upon casket lead to sales and we talk about podcasting. What's the Monetization Avenue. There's lots of other great purposes of of the podcast contribution creativity <hes> so people often wonder what do you make money at it and for me. The book look sales also being a real estate agent in the Washington. DC Metro region. I even had referrals for real estate on because of the podcasting so oh there is lots of opportunity and and so let reached out to Turkey to you and strict and while that was almost two years ago we started five minutes accents spike cast so so tell me a little bit because we know we have a number of real estate agents and brokers in our community. It just seems to be a niche needs that we have seem to have found so if there's an agent or someone that is working toward success. I mean I you know the discipline that is needed to be successful. Real estate agent is is huge huge but it's not not unlike being successful in any level of business. So what would you say to somebody. That's out there in our <hes> in our community. That's a real estate agent. Just in the beginning. Maybe maybe Cher Cher moment or two of some of the five minutes success principles that <hes> that have made you who you are today professionally well absolutely go to Amazon and get the book real estate successive orbits a day. That's a great place to start listening to the five minutes success by guests. There's key key principles and this is what led to the five minutes success podcasts and that is these core principles actually really do apply pretty universally. I've discovered after for almost one hundred two hundred interviews but one hundred seventy out on the air and the first one is committed leads so everybody does business talent prospecting lead generation. I don't have you whatever your idea whatever it is your business whatever you're selling entrepreneur any kind of professional until you have <unk> customer or client or someone to sell to you really don't have anything to do so that's where podcasting is really more in the attraction marketing type of space but in terms of actual belly to belly and you you are absolutely an expert at that but that commitment because it really is a commitment. I find that would be. We'll have that light bulb. Go Off that make that paradigm shift that like Oh. I'm just GONNA wait. Til The phone rings rather. This is a commitment. You're I'M GONNA. Go Out and do activities to lead to business development. They generation then everybody goes through the CONSULTA sell process. Some people people call that conversion you take the league you take them through. The process. Money comes out on the other end. That's what we call business and it's also actually in a lot of professions. I mean gentlest air consulting is they clean your teeth. They do a exams xrays a ministers do consulting and conversion and right now they're really everybody has some process that they take their constituency through and then at the end. There's something the real estate. It's obviously a transaction podcasting. It's podcast episodes and then there's connected and grow because what many happens with many salespeople entrepreneurs particularly they get on this hamster wheel dog. They get a lead. They get a customer the client. I had to get it to settlement or they get it through the process. They wake up and do it all over again and then have that moment where they're going okay. I assume as I do my next deal deal once that's over. I I don't have anything to do. I'm really transaction dependent so when you connect to build and grow you build a business you built sustainable ongoing ongoing scalable enterprise systems it can create leverage so what's interesting guy in so there's principles to to that too and then they'll the one that surround all his success thinking activities envisioned so that's mindset and motivation because just to maintain and grow the business you have to have that so those are the components so give me like a working working knowledge of or Gimme a little experience here. How can someone achieve a higher level success in just five minutes a day because that's the premise of your of your entire podcast in your book right five minutes success yes so the there this is actually actually a principle of Parkinson's law because limiting restricting time can actually make people more effective and efficient. There is what happens is kind of part of the whole overwhelmed wellm thing. We were like going well. I can't do all that so then they do nothing and so the idea of the five minutes this is where the idea came about was. I'm like go five minutes a day. Everybody has five minutes a day so the idea is to focus on for five minutes one principal and if you follow the real estate successive armaments a day a book. It's broken out for us daily whatever it is you. WanNa focus on whatever it is you want to achieve a higher level of success you focus on it for five minutes that creates. It's <hes>. B plans to see grades domino effect in some cases. You're more likely to remember it and be able to apply it and put it into practice later in the day the next day the next week the next year because too much information can be as soon. Nami like that's what happens with a lot of books or seminars or training. You're like going wow. This is really great but it's I. I don't know how to apply to get into your practice so the idea putting one thing into practice into your business every day one idea when concept takes five minutes to read then you figure out how to put it into practice or if it maybe it's something that's not offer now but at some point you'll say a. Ha I remember that strategy and I'm a had this happen with an agent he had read about first mover advantage Asia and it was like in November and he had a customer who wanted to list for sale and the customers like taking <music> all using all the language of yeah. We're going to the spring. We're going to do next year. We're going to you know kept putting it down. The road in the agent remembered I liver advantage and he says you know there's a first mover advantage and I'm really thinking that if you went on the market right now you're the only one that will be on the market that you would have an advantage that I think you should do it now and that that created enough urgency for that seller to get on the market and sold and so the idea is he scripts and dialogues these ideas <hes> are delivered in Yeah L. Five minutes a day so you're getting more likely to remember it when it's time to use them so. I'm looking at your your website and look at the praise. Praise the tab that you have a nice guy community. If you WANNA really see how she is received by her entire community of <hes> of followers look at her praise tab and literally there's dozens thousands if not hundreds of of people that are singing your praises in in picture in video form and and it's true that it has been so well received why do do you think that is the case can well back to the way you started the introduction having so many people one of the things right now is that people will be like they don't have enough time and five minutes is actually. I think the attention span that Google's as if people have so it resonates are like okay I could do that. It's achievable global. It actually gives you a win. You do it early in the morning. Start the day with it and it does have this. It has several impacts it can have a domino affect impact world knock over a bunch of ideas at once or it can have a more of a snowball cumulative effect amaury. It can also have a ripple effect. You like you'll make one change and then you'll start seeing other things impacted so because it doesn't on so many different levels depending on where you are in your business life that it's it's. I think that's what people are resonating with so when you when did you realize it was time to do this second book. Flip time love life and maybe explained the title a little bit more a little bit more in depth and <hes> and when did you realize it was time to write the book as often happens when people achieve a high level success us and they start to look around ago. Okay is this all there is I mean I love my life really truly doug. I have wonderful husband married to for thirty two years to successful young adult children travel the world have a best business partner ever great business best year ever and so. It's like well okay. There is still something more and that's where I think the creativity and the contribution came but I also had felt a little burned out like okay. I'm going to do this again. Kind of sometimes you get into routine after doing something for seventeen years you no you how many episodes of podcasts at right so you like going okay what what what's missing and what was missing. Is this meaningful work. Somebody will call Zona genius <hes>. I think that's a gay hendricks term. <hes> meaningful workflow self actualization is really what stuck with me and that is masses. IOS hierarchy of needs. I felt like I had worked my way up the pyramid and I had all those needs worked out but I was like self actualization. Just kept getting off and that's where I I had this epiphany like what if you were to flip. The pyramid revered a flip time because often. It's tempting acting or people feel self care self <hes>

"briscoe" Discussed on News 96.5 WDBO

"A story of oppression. Out of your home state of Texas. Yeah. Bill they're aims to ban people from using the food stamps to buy junk food good. Oh because you're poor. You should enjoy a box of raising. That's what we're talking about. You know, candy soda potato chips. Good all that sort of stuff. Now, this comes from Republican. There does have a great name. I gotta give it to him. It sounds like a very Texas named to me. Briscoe cain. Yes. That's a fantastic. Name Briscoe Cain Briscoe setting propose the Bill out of concern for poor eating habits and health issues related to having an insufficient diet. He said it seeks to curb the spread diabetes and other health complications among Texas the at risk populations by eliminating sugary drinks. It's axe from the states nutrition assistance program 'cause nutrition is in the title. So it should be Tristesse. I agree. So the outrages on though. Well, of course, it is the outrage about people who are on food stamps, not being able to use those food stamps to buy junk food. The outrage comes from the same people who say that you and I can't use a plastic straw. Oh, that's true. Good. Call. The same people who say that we should be legally barred from having styrofoam cups people who say that we should be paying higher taxes for sugary drinks. But of course, for people who are on the public dime to get food should be able to do to should be able to consume those goods, they shouldn't. You hate. I don't hate anybody. Lineal you're supposed to be more. Yeah. No. I'm also they also say, well, what about the food deserts in the food desert? Right. Is you know, where you don't have access to a regular full service grocery store. Right. So a lot of these people who are on these programs can only go to corner stores that don't necessarily have fresh food or healthier things. Right. Yes. Okay. But one of the basic rules of economics, right? Is that if you say, you can't use food stamps to buy junk food, those stores are going to lose money? So they are going to have to start supplying things that you can use your food stamps for a lot of times. If you see the reporting some of these stories the full service, grocery stores, a lot of the nutritious stuff doesn't get bought anyway. Oh, wait a second. I know why this is near and dear to your heart. You ran right into this being a good soldier. Well, no this. This has been a long time. I don't I don't believe that you should be buying soda. I don't figure or or right or alcohol stuff like that on public assistance funds. I don't I don't agree with that. Well, we've known people that have bought snap cards from people. Okay. Just wanted the cash. Yeah. Sugary foods. Yeah. Four other thing or smokes, whatever they want with their cats. So yeah, we'll know there was that time a couple years ago where I was at the grocery store, and there's a woman there, she looked desperate. She was asking not for money. She was asking if she could if I would buy her if you groceries I don't give people cash, but a lot of times if the and it's a judgment call in the moment, if they look like they really could use something I'll offer to buy a sandwich. I'll offer to buy them something. Nice. Try to do that. Most of the time strangely enough people. Don't take me up on that weird. Hey, can I get five bucks? Just I need a sandwich. Hey, I'll go into Jimmy John's right now by twenty one. I don't want Jimmy Johns. Okay. I thought you were hungry. Anyway, this lady, I agreed. I said, yeah, I'll buy a few things because she said she had kids and all that stuff. So I okay. So I she has her cart. We're going through excuse me. Pick it out a few things, and she starts putting the little Debbie snacks in there. And I say I'm not buying you that. What who you Jen? Well, can I get something? No, we'll get you once meat and bread and cheese. And if you want condiments, you can have condiments. Yeah. Juice. That's good. If you want your kids want, some juice. That's fine. I'm not going to buy soda though. But she wanted the two leaders. She did what the two leaders. I gave money to a guy one time that had the kind of little like little better briefcase open. Yeah. And he had a sign that says, I'm not gonna lie. I'm goodbye, Jack Daniels swear, and I went you know, what here's a dollar knock yourself out. Because you appreciated the wasn't doing sandwich with mayor wasn't doing hungry with me. It was like no I wanna get hammered that. Can you help me? Get hammered, right. Right. Can guess I know I forgot how that ended. Did she at least take the groceries you're gonna buy? I was gonna ask we wound up getting those groceries, but she was a little bit mad at us. And then got more mad at me when I said, I wouldn't give her a ride. Okay. She's like, well can I get right away? No. I'm not going to me. That's unbelievable to me. You know, this was a long time ago when you and I worked at a previous job, Robin. So was the guy standing out we'll work for food and seriously. It's going to have them cut the grass right on though is that that far. Give you twenty five bucks small yard at the time. No, really. That's not everybody told the sign, but you run into that a lot. We'll just put it that way the penmanship on the science because it's almost perfect. Now, I don't see that that often, by the way, real quick something else on food. Don't know. If you saw this. Some people would call this nutritious for the soul. Did you see what dairy queens doing right now with the blizzards? No, I haven't. It's not that I need it. But man, I did get a little excited. They're doing the flight of blizzards at Dairy Queen where you get three different flavors. So if there's different kinds of alike, you can't decide you can get three minutes. So you can get three different kinds like this. I seven bucks ten bucks. Something. Like, I like the idea. I thought that was kind of cool all the time the found drinks, you mix them together. Yes. Always you still do that. Yes. All the time or do you mix together like sprite and orange and sometimes coke altogether. Mix them all together stirred up. Yes. It's delightful. I do it all the time. I thought that was just a kid thing. No, no. I do it too. Okay. That's why I don't want to mix all three blizzards together. One each individual. I'd like to mix them all together. Mixed together. That'd be great. It's america. Not gonna judge you for it. Speaking of America. You get freedom of speech. So we'll hit Omar freedom of speech. Yes. And she can say the only reason those goons in the Republican party don't like me because I'm a woman of color. That's what they say. She can say that she can and you can disagree with Scott. And I do you'll be called racist. I don't care. I know. But that'll be part of Scott takes. All right. So we need to get to that. Oh, there was something else that we need to get to win. Scott takes Lindsey.

Surprise win at Charlotte "monumental" for Ryan Blaney's confidence

"Chatting with Sunday's winner at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Ryan Blaney. We've spoken of winning the race and running the race, but what about the benefits of that? Race? Ryan. What about the tea? Where does this team stand right now? What did this win do for the guys as you head into over this weekend? Huge. You know, we, we were looking at this first round lead into the playoffs and and honestly we were this was around, we were most worried about because there's a couple of tracks in here where we weren't sure how we're going to run. You know, Vegas honest. We're going to run a little bit better there, but Richmond, that's been a track where we've struggled. And I thought we made a big gain there and practicing qualifying and the race we, we struggled really bad and had a terrible day, and that's kinda got us nervous about what we were sitting in the points. And then you go to the role that you just don't know what to expect. Anything can happen. You don't know if you're gonna be good, bad getting Iraq. You don't know everyone's a little bit nervous going into the robo, but you know, even before we won the race, we did our job and ran how we needed to get into the next round on points. But whenever you can win, especially in the playoffs, it's just a huge confidence booster not only to me but to the team as well. And to do it in that fashion I think was was it was neat, and I know they're really excited to. Going and around to. I feel like has some really good tracks for us. So hopefully we can capitalize on that stuff. But yeah, it's just a huge confidence booster everybody and confidence a big thing, this sport, and we, we definitely have it right now. Hopefully we can keep it for a while.
