"Bills, ensuring that you can see a doctor promptly reducing the taxes paid by ordinary hardworking people across the country. That was James cleverly the foreign secretary speaking at the party conference in Birmingham after only 29 days in power trusted struggling to keep control after her government's mini budget spooked financial markets and hammered support for the stories in opinion polls. OPEC plus is considering a reduction in its production limit of as much as 2 million barrels a day, although the impact on global supply could be smaller. Delegates say the group may discuss a cut of that size plus smaller reductions when it meets later. Carly Garner is a senior commodity strategy stat to Carly trading. She says the cartel is unlikely to go for a major supply cut. You know, I think at this point in time, I think they're talking their book. I think it's more of a psychological strategy as opposed to actually pulling barrels off the market. They don't want to encourage shale oil producers to pick up production and take market share. They also don't want to encourage the consumers finding substitutes. So I think that they will probably stick to something closer to half a million or a million, even that is probably just a token. That was commodity strategy is Carly Garner, who also told Bloomberg that several OPEC plus members are already pumping far below their official quotas, meaning they won't have to cut production even if limits are cut. And ray dalio has given up control of Bridgewater associates the firm he built it into the world's largest hedge fund, the billionaire cofounder transferred all of his voting rights to the board of directors and stepped down as one of Bridgewater's co CIOs at the end of September, the move marks the end of his accession process which started back in 2010. So those are our top stories. Let's take a look at what we are looking out for today and prime minister Liz truss is speaking Liang garands has a rundown of the day ahead Lian. And yes, indeed G is speaking and that will be at 1105 today and we're expecting that speech and she'll obviously wrap up the Conservative Party conference this year and will be bringing that live to all our UK listeners on Bloomberg radio so do tune in and then at 12 new new K time we'll have a U.S. MBA mortgage applications then at 1 p.m. will have U.S. ADP employment change data followed at two 30 p.m. by the S&P Global U.S. PMI so lots coming out of the U.S. today. Also today, OPEC plus meets in Vienna alberi own Manus cranny is there he was reporting from a sidewalk earlier as markets watched to see if the group decides to cut oil production again later Atlanta's fed president Rafael bostic discusses inflation during a virtual event hosted by northwestern university, and also if you're traveling to work at this morning. I'm sure you do know that, but there's a fresh rail strike hitting the network and this has been led by drivers of asleep and the TSS. So to avoid disappointment, they always say check before you travel. So make sure you do that. Thank you very much for today's agenda and some life advice as well. Let's get to the London rush next. We can't write time to highlight UK businesses making an announcement in London. We've got Bloomberg's UK stock support at Joey's and with us in studio this morning. Good morning to you, Joe. Tesco, we're watching this morning. Some positive news out of their results. That's right, Tesco have reported an increase in sales that got sales of around 28 billion pounds in the last half of the year so that's a slight increase. However, digging deeper, it is some gloomy remarks coming out of Tesco this morning. They're saying that's their profit will be at the low end of guidance. They're warning that consumers are still watching every penny that they spend. And obviously they've got a lot of costs increasing given general inflation and the weaker pound. The other thing to note with Tesco is they still have around 10 billion pounds of net debt and with the UK yields rising as they have done over the past few weeks, that's also adding to their costs. So their earnings really are on a downward trend, the stock is pretty cheap in terms of the market's perspective only around ten times earnings at the moment. So some of that bad news is priced in obviously we had a negative report from next which hit the whole sector just around a week ago. So perhaps the market has already predicting and that bad news and Tesco stocks slightly higher this morning. Yeah, slightly higher after being slightly lower earlier, nuanced is the way that Jeffries described the results and the guidance within the Rolf's the results Joe confusing would be another word to use because they did upgrade some things, didn't they? But then they also downgraded them to guidance expectations so a bit of a bit of a mess in that sense. And the market just taking time to digest it. A price lock also, how confusing is this? I mean, when is this actually going to run till this price lock? I'm not too sure about that one. I think they're trying to probably what they're trying to do there is match the massive discounting coming from Aldi and lidl. You know, they've taken so much share from these big supermarkets at the moment. I'd expect that's a reaction to that. And we saw data this week saying that Tesco again losing share to Audi in little obviously everyone cutting back, I'm a big little fan. This is one near me. So I like to pop in there regularly as well. Because they've said that they're freezing prices, but until 2023 okay. And I'm not sure whether that means the beginning or the end. Well we're getting some very far off of it. No, indeed. Am I local Tesco prices seem to be going up every time I go in? Logic would tell us a logic rather inflation data would tell us that that is most places the prices they appear to be going up constantly, but I'm keen to know that you are a middle aisle shopper. From German discount supermarkets. Joe, meanwhile, we've got let's trust the speech. We're looking forward to later today as well. What will the markets be looking out for when the prime minister gets on her feet and Birmingham? Yeah, so I think markets are really looking for kind of flexibility, actually. So I think obviously they announced the scrapping of the higher

"Jobs, comes as the U.S. boost incentives to reduce its reliance on Asian chip suppliers. Ray dalio has given up control of Bridgewater associates, the firm he built into the world's largest hedge fund. In September 30th, he transferred all of his voting rights to the board of directors and stepped down as one of Bridgewater's three co chief investment officers. The billionaire cofounder is entrusting the firm's future and the $150 billion in assets to a younger generation of leaders. Credit Suisse is in the headlines again and they are struggling to hold departures from its private bank in Hong Kong with more recent resignations amid the turmoil and the Swiss lender. Sources say that a managing director to directors and two relationship managers have resigned recently, the bank is due to unveil an emergency strategic review on October 27th, which may include a large scale investment banking retreat. And that is your Bloomberg business flash. I want to get you the big picture overview of Middle East markets in terms of how sentiment held up with the positive enthusiasm coming across in the likes of the S&P 500 and the MSCI world that getting reflected together with the higher energy price. So you're seeing gains of about 1.5% of the Saudi to towel led by some of the material plays with significant upside down in Doha 3.5% investors positioning as well for some tangential plays around the World Cup, which is only weeks away. And then from there, I take you to equity futures in the United States, the caution is back in town. Maybe we went a little bit too far too

"Up control. We've been talking about this story for a long time. Eric Schuster breaks it as we knew he would and Eric's in studio with us right now, Eric. So green bean, green bean, green bean, and let's explain what a green bee is. A green bee is given to a Bloomberg story that is very important. Market moving or exclusive breaking news that matters. And this one got it. So on a Bloomberg. And at the end of the year, when you go to your boss and you get your review, you're like, hey, I got this many green bees, give me a raise. There you go. All right, we're doing it for him right now. Eric, what stood out for you from this story here today that you reported? Well, the mere fact that ray is giving up control was a surprise to me and I think to many people. We've known for many years, in fact, a dozen years approximately that ray has been trying to affect a succession plan at Bridgewater, initially he didn't want to be CEO any longer eventually he gave up some of his investing authority and governance authority, but not many people knew certainly knew, but he wasn't letting on, that he was eventually going to give up control. And if you look around at some of his peers, they're not in the same industry. But the likes of Steve schwarzman and Henry kravis and George Roberts and Bill Conway and David Rubenstein, they haven't given up all their rights, right? Yes, of course, they're minority owners and their firms just like Reyes and minority owner and Bridgewater, but they haven't stepped back to this degree. Why do you think he felt that was necessary? And by the way, we should because he wants to build an institution. He wants this firm to outlive him and outlast him and eventually you're going to have to hand over control. You have to stop being the founder who has the final word on everything and let somebody else pilot the ship. I mean, he has a history of being on a leading edge of being an avant garde hedge fund manager, right there, they've gone all out with total honesty and transparent radical transparency. There you go. That article truthfulness. The idea meritocracy, if that wasn't at one point certainly it was avant garde. It was always unusual, right? Bridgewater has these mechanistic tools that it uses to evaluate people's characteristics like believability. The things that you and I just considered part of human interaction, they try to systematize and use that to inform their investment process. But one of the things I learned in reporting this story is that they're not always successful. In fact, in 2020, Bridgewater had a terrible year, its flagship fund was down 13%. While some of the macro peers were having records setting records with their performance, and Bridgewater took a long and hard look in the mirror and realized that some of the mechanistic systems that I've just described that ray put in place weren't working properly instead of encouraging creativity and collaboration, they were stifling it, and the best ideas were no longer bubbling to the surface. And that was clearly they believed it was clearly constraining the firm's ability to perform and to compete. And so they had to make some changes. And you can also see this as the culmination of those kinds of changes. It is, in effect, the end of the dalio era. They have stayed on top. They are still the biggest hedge fund in the world. A 150 billion dollars, is that a constraint to performance? Size is always a constraint in performance in the hedge fund world. And that's one of the unusual aspects to Bridgewater in addition to its unique culture is that it has been able to perform relatively well even while running that large portion. I mean, we just reported CRISPR no day tripled his money this year, but he only runs a $1 billion. Correct. And we're not saying that if Bridgewater ran a $1 billion, they too would be up almost 200%. What we are saying is that when you have a $150 billion in management ineffectively two main strategies, it really is hard to outperform. But this year, they're up something in the order of 35% through the end of the third quarter. And that is a credit to this reevaluation that they've done. They've got two new CEOs and nearby barde and Mark Bertoldo. This is the main question. So this is the main question. Who takes over the reins now that ray has passed the torch so this one important thing to remember is that they've already, they already made an important decision in the past, which was to separate the executive role from the investing role. So they have two, as I just described, they have two co CEOs. They run the business. They help to set the firm strategy. They help to decide which products to pursue if they're going to develop anything new in the way of funds. The investors now led by Greg Jensen and bob prince the two co CIOs, chief investment officers. There were three. They're the guys who were deciding they and their cohorts are deciding every day what to buy and what to sell. What to program into Bridgewater's models. What do we know about ray Dali? What's next steps for him? Well, we've already seen a lot of what those next steps are, ray is devoting more time to philanthropy. He's a passionate philanthropist. He believes passionately in the need to protect the world's oceans. He has, in fact, an extraordinary exploration boat called the ocean X and he's using it to map the bottom of the sea floor in parts of the world where it has previously hitherto been unmapped. He's also dedicated a good part of his life to what he would call teaching. It's not at a university. It's not an electron at a university in an auditorium. It's appearing on panels and going to places and educating people on what he believes to be the underlying truths in the economy, which is to say long-term debt cycles you've heard ray talk about that all the time. Short term debt cycles. He believes that history tends to repeat itself things are predictable, and if you program those patterns into your investment process, you stand a better chance of outperforming over time. All right, Eric, great stuff. Great scoop here. Eric schatzker, Bloomberg news joining us here with this story on Greg dalio. Giving up control at Bridgewater in final Succession step. Right now sit down in Washington, D.C., world

Panthers' Matt Rhule Is Making a Bid for Best NFL Coach This Season
"I wanna talk about the best young coach football. And it's not necessarily sean mcveigh. It's clear that it's not only an indictment on the new york jets operation. But what you're seeing was sam darnold in the carolina. Panthers is pretty remarkable the knock on darnold out of college there to know with too comfortable wins but the knock on darnold out of college and i watched every snap was his accuracy issues. What does he completing now. Seventy percent of his throws. He doesn't make mistakes total composure. It would be easy to just say. This is an indictment on the jets but instead of just the negative side. Let's look realistically at the positive side. Not only has met rule made darnold more comfortable. This defense has twenty one quarterback hits and ten sacks in two games. What does that tell you. The culture of the carolina. Panthers is headed in the right direction. It also tells you. This is a remarkable stat on matt rule. The coach carolina going back to the beginning of last year. You will not believe this. Carolina leads the nfl with the fewest. Three and outs that with teddy bridgewater and start with. Sam darnold. nothing about that not mahomes. Not lamar jackson. Not tom brady. Not derek carr not matt ryan not russell wilson not aaron rodgers. No the fewest three and outs matt rule. Teddy bridgewater and sam darnold but this is a offensive line. That outside of right tackle graded poorly left. Tackle all the way to right guard. What matt rule is doing with this sub optimal often. It's of line. The scarce number of three out the revamping rebooting of sam darnold is really mind-blowing

It was so dark but then these lights appeared there. Were a few of them round and white and just hanging there in the air. They doing anything else. Kid did know where he was going. Took a wrong turn and couldn't find his way out and that's all that's all well. I'm i'm glad to hear that he's all right. Is there anything else we can do. "Kind of looks like your place. What do you mean well secluded near the woods. Bit of a creepy hermit by my house doesn't have a creepy harm vibe. Don't have any neighbors an and it's not like we live in the middle of nowhere. He really looked to find places secluded his years. At least i don't have wind chimes. I mean how much more cliche can you get. She's definitely got a very neighborhood. Which feeling going here. Hey don't you think we should bringing in the police on this because you think they would listen. I just think i don't know. We were almost attacked by burning knives last night and this woman was at the center of it. She's not dangerous. How do you know. I interviewed her. And i'm pretty good at reading people from you know my decades in the police force but you interviewed her forty years ago. I think it's likely that things have changed since then. Yeah people don't change you think she's going to remember you. I guess we'll just have to wait and see yes. How may help you sorry to bother. You ma'am my name. Is jeremy bradshaw. And this is an becker. Yes i remember you. My how we've age. Well i don't know about you. But i'm feeling pretty spry almost like i could run through a swamp in the middle of the night. Would you like to come in. Thank you for the tea. It's very unique niane land. You don't want any miss becker I don't typically drink homemade. Bruce given to me by cultists yes. Let's not skate around. Why you're here. You said you came across our little meeting last night. Yes sorry to be so blunt. You weren't supposed to see that. I don't know if it lived up to your expectations. Miss becker from what. I told you about the gathering in the past. You barely told me anything about the gathering. You're a potential witness to a crime. Oh come now. You didn't actually believe that everyone else did. But you knew you knew that the gathering had nothing to do with any of the dark happenings in bridgewater. At that time you knew we weren't faintness. We still aren't that doesn't mean you're not messing with things that you shouldn't be. I mean what exactly. Were you trying to invoke last night. We were trying to speak to the other side. What does that mean. Do you know what hachem swamp man's and wapping knock the place where spirits dwell you see. Unlike you. i actually have family members who are helping. Don't presume to know my heritage. Miss becker Is that why you were there. Because we believe their spirits. How come spot is just one of several places we meet. I can't divulge the other locations free time state forest. Maybe dighton rock. I couldn't say this entire area is ripe for communication. The veil is thin here again. What does that mean the bridgewater triangle. As i believe you call. It is a bright spot. A portal between worlds that attracts creatures of all sorts looking to get to the other side the other side. Yes what what is the other side. Well it's the side that isn't this one meaning meaning. What exactly the other side is many things to many people for some. It's a demon rum. A place to fire and malice in great and terrible power. Those are the groups that everyone has always been afraid of like the children of timber. Yes that was awful people. I thought that they were part of the together. We shared some members for a time but no our philosophies were entirely different. The children of ticha so heinous lee named for a woman who's person hood has been already dragged through the mud. Plenty believed that bridgewater was a doorway to hell. They believe that they could call on. The devil is the salem witches purportedly dead and gained unthinkable power but as they misunderstood history. They miss understood this area terribly or you understand the area. Yes i do well. No that's an awfully arrogant thing for me to say. I am but a mere mortal i could never truly understand all the secrets and magics that this place holds but i understand it better than most. I am attuned. And i take it. You don't think this is a doorway to hell. No i do not but it is a doorway for others. The other side is the fe rom. The place where magic is real in creatures of mischief rain for some it's a wormhole a place to transport you through time and space but for the gathering it is none of those things and all of those things it has a doorway to everything else everything except how we don't believe in hell but you do believe in magic. We believe in energy and we believe that there are many mysteries in this world that we simple humans will never be able to fully comprehend so then. What were you doing last night. What were you channing perry. Am vanita ouda. Detaille dj nuke. Open the door. Let us here speak now. What does that mean. Well i just told you. I warned me. What what do those words mean to you. The gathering is dedicated to communicating with the other side. To what end. I can't tell you that because it's a secret or because you don't have any goal at all. You don't believe in anything do you. Jeremy no i do. I i believe in i believe in science and i believe in what i can see with my own eyes. Let's you say you're a folklore professor and yet it is clear to me that you don't have respect for the gathering and our beliefs. No no i'm look. I'm sorry if i offended you. I really don't honestly have any problem with anyone believing anything as long as they're not causing harm. We're not doing harm. The gathering is a peaceful spiritual group. Then why were you well carrying burning hot knives last night. You're leaving your ceremony to go further into the swamp to god knows what carvings my dear. The knives were for carvings. We have to communicate. Somehow you were all there. So who were you. Communicating with other members of similar groups. Who might happen upon our doorways. Our future selves are meeting. Places must constantly shift as the land shifts. The twenty first century. Why not us. I dunno phones signal or some other secure messaging. We know that some of your members are using anonymous emails. Talk to each other online. So it's not like you can't use technology well. Some of our newer members prefer that form of communication. Yes but we are not only communicating with those in the here. And now jeremy right you mean. You're also trying to talk to the other side with the carvings that is correct. The forest the swamp this entire region. It wants to speak to us. Speak for us. So you vandalized protected lands. It isn't vandalism. It's freedom of expression. Free speech doesn't cover the facing state parks. I think you.

Well okay. i don't spend as much time with them as i'd like. My daughter will complicated you. An olivia seem close though Yeah we've come to an agreement. She's a real good kid smart as a whip. But i'm motivated. I think it's because she's bored. I tried to give projects and hacking into our bread at posters. Private email isn't productive project kind of this far didn't it this far and what we're grasping at straws were chasing down what's probably in group of benign weirdos if you think. They're so benign and while the nervous chatter. I'm not doing that. I don't do that right. Okay your dad was the same way. When he wasn't sure what to expect he just talk and talk and talk and talk like controlling. what he said meant that he'd be able to control everything else do i. Don't try to control everything. No you just dedicate your entire profession to explaining the unexplainable because you hate being right. Just because i like being right doesn't mean i have control issues. I can't help that. I'm right shirley. A professor of folklore understands that the truth is.

"So you like computers. Sorry just you've got a lot of computers and yeah. I'm a computer science major member. Right right yeah. I'm more of a book guy myself. Is that why you're carrying around actual photos. Yeah i like to be able to mark them up and you can do that on your phone right. so what do you need. Olivia's help with why the hell do you care. I'm trying to actually find out real information and not dig up supernatural skeletons. Neither am i but explain to me. Why exactly petroglyphs carved this week would be good information for your history book because it shows the hold that these old legends have on this area's consciousness. The same could be said for thomas's badge. A forty year old disappearance was able to catch the attention of the internet. A very tiny portion of the internet. Still that's why i'm here. The red at post. I wanna know who made it. What else they might now. You think they'd actually be useful more useful than me. This isn't won't benach not really. It's like whoever wrote. It has seen him walk before. But it's just doing it by memory watch it translates to anything. Your dad said that it Maybe said something about water or sunrise could be those symbols could be for curtain and beginning. But it's not the actual woman language. It looks like it's taken from a couple of different cultures. But i don't know i'm not an expert and whoever carved these clearly isn't either onto what i know. You know. your dad was always good at computers too. Took it up before was cool. Yeah and he loves lording it over me. Being the og hacker. I don't wanna go into cybersecurity like him though. That's what you were doing now. Yeah just to pick up some cash. It's not long term. may i ask olivia. where do you wanna do. I don't know something more interesting. That's why like helping out with her weird little projects. So you're into this bridgewater triangle stuff like can no not really at least not the weird old mitts in this town people use to create narratives about people like me but internet. Myth that stuff i can get into. What's internet myth. Yeah you know slender man police. Elliot's oh the elevator game momo. I have no idea what you're saying. Yeah to keep up with the times bradshaw. Are you telling me that you know what momo is a half bird half woman who tells you to kill yourself. Are you serious. Is she serious. The internet is a very dark place. Okay the author of the rhetoric post about your dad's badge is one katie francs. Oh of course anyone know that is no no idea. She local yup late. You know her professor bradshaw does and you do to mess becker. What hiker you scared with the missing friend. That's katie. franks. Yeah it all makes sense now. Mike said that there was a frequent poster who had a partner on the force. What are you talking about officer batista. What yes. She came to me the other night to tell me about her girlfriend. Katie the symbols on the rock. She says it's some kind of communication for the caulton. It's a way they tell each other where they're going to meet up. Cop is an occult. Oh we don't know it's cold well. It is a call. But i don't think the cop is in it it's girlfriend. It's all very complicated. Katie franks the hiker right. Then why are you talking to me if you know someone who knows the code. No no katie. Doesn't know the coach. She's not inner circle. Ooh that's creepy. Why didn't you call me and this really isn't any of your business. I've been poring over the same files for the past forty years in this just gets dropped into your lap and you don't even bother to tell me i don't see why this is important to you if the gathering is back. That's extremely important. You said they were harmless. That doesn't they're clueless. They could have information Guys this doesn't look very harmless to me. What is it is that kiedis private email is that ethical is human sacrifice ethical. This isn't katie's email. It's a protected account. What does that mean. it just means it's anonymous and really hard to trace. The ip of anyone can buy one. They're not inherently suspicious. I think having an untraceable anonymous email is really suspicious. I have one. Why but the point is i went into. Katie's email scanner context for addresses from certain email providers. Once that's l. protected accounts and found a center who i think might be in the inner circle. This is their inbox. Wait wait so so you did all of that just now. Yep wow so. Does that mean that you know. Who's in the inner circle. Now no but. I think i know how you can find out how this emails talking about a meeting of the gathering one that is preparing for the ultimate sacrifice. And you think that means human sacrifice kind of sounds like it. Don't you think but you know how people are in red. At though right they talk crap. This isn't read. This is several anonymous people communicating about meeting. There are specifics. What specifics the meeting is happening. In how come swamp tonight.

"Like a total idiot right. Because that's the worst thing in the world it is when it's my literal job to teach people. I don't need my superiors or my colleagues. Finding out about this research is one thing but going off on wild unfounded speculation based off some individuals personal reports. It's just the dean's don't need to know. Oh my god. I'm not gonna keep things from them. I'm not my father. The school isn't in charge of your book. You are and this entire thing this investigation. That's a strong narrative to hang a book on. I mean i would read that book. What investigation there's nothing to solve here. Really we'll what about the carvings. You guys found In the missing hiker they've been. That's not our job. We are academics. Were not detectives. And we're definitely not ghost hunters. What if we went back to the lake though just checks to see if the carvings have changed and if they have it just means that the gathering is up to something. That is business. That i definitely do not want to get mixed up in in the badge. What about it. I agree that a missing person is in our problem but how his badge ended up in the woods is your business. He died in freetown forest. It makes sense that something of his would remain there. But that doesn't explain how the badge is in mint condition. Or maybe that's something that i just don't need to explain. You always need everything. Explained and it could be anything witchcraft or wormhole or the cult member by god stop fin. Seriously.

That could have been anything was. The rock was sitting in sunlight. Okay in the museum was a museum. That had windows in the humming. Could have been fluorescent lights or some construction outside all right. You really really think your dad didn't consider that i mean he wrote it down at clearly was significant. He was just being thorough. You'd have thought there was a connection between carvings and free time for and strange things that were happening just like now. What strange things. What strange things. Where should we start his badge. Being found the missing hiker the woman last week who saw four foot tall eagle. I still can't believe that you can stand to watch local news. How can you not. It's basically modern folklore. Okay an all of this has an explanation. As i'm sure everything in one thousand nine hundred had a rational explanation to we. Just gotta find it. Yeah but i mean just the sheer concentration of like A huckabee this here okay. Just listen to this in august. Nineteen eighty to november nineteen eighty. There were seven missing persons cases in freetown state forest. Three reports of livestock being killed seventeen eyewitness accounts of cult activity and to alien abductions supposed- alien abductions supposed- alleged. Of course. but you know what i mean. I'm talking to assume anything they've been. You seem to be buying into quite a lot more of this. Then i'm comfortable with. I'm just saying it's strange whether any of it is real or not. It's not it's not real okay fine. But it's strange right at this particular moment. In time exactly forty years ago contained the highest concentration of paranormal sightings in this area. I don't see how that strange it was the late seventies early eighties. It was time when everyone across the country was panicking about some demonic thing or another there were all these stories. just breeding. More stories came trendy to be worried that your neighbor was a witch or that your dog got eaten by some mythological creature. That's just what was happening. Then i know but not all these reports are just people seeing something odd or making up a story. There were legitimate crimes. There are always legitimate crimes. Always all right. Just hear me up. There's this one report okay. A girl who went missing. Yeah i know and told me about her twelve year old camping. She got lost and came out of the woods a day later without remembering anything. It's not as erie as you're making it sound. I don't remember half of the things that happened to me. As a kid sure a toddler may be twelve. She went through a trauma of events. She was lost and cold and scared. And who knows. Maybe she had a run in with a wild animal. Her mind just blocked it out. and self-defense. Happens all the time does it. Because i'm not sure that's how it works. You think it's more likely that she encountered something supernatural. I'm just saying that it raises questions. I don't know what we're gonna i mean. We're all so relieved. That francine was found that she found her way home. How how did she get out of the woods and she was completely fine. Not a scratch or bruise anywhere. It doesn't make any sense and she didn't remember anything and she doesn't remember anything. That's right if it's awful. It's just remaining too much. Jeremy and i just i i know she's going to have nightmares dislike him and just like me but she doesn't remember any lights so i can't. There's nothing i can do that if i don't have to go on. And the only thing we were able to get out of her with something about the lake. She said she saw woman all in white. I don't know maybe she was hallucinating. Maybe captain is right. Maybe it really is the gathering kidnapping children performing ritual sacrifice. But something about. It just doesn't feel right. I know what i saw. What did she say about that thing. I know that the abductions bigfoot sightings aren't real but something there israel the only thing that the girl mentions is seeing something at the lake a woman all in white. It's probably someone from the gathering or or the children of pitch about you know. Your dad and becker went to the lake the day after and saw something to. What do you mean. What didn't you read all the files. What this they saw mirage. No they saw a vortex okay. It was probably just a whirlpool. It's unusual but it's not impossible really above the water. Listen it was late at night and it says here that it disappeared faster than they can blink and this wasn't a report that was ever filed. These are just some personal notes. Yeah one of the only personal notes in all of these files. It was clearly significant. Sorry then we have different definitions of significant. I just don't think there's some grand paranormal conspiracy at work here. Oh keep it. Why would you write this incident down if he wasn't going to report i don't know maybe he forgot his tape recorder that day and said that he would always copy his tapes to the official reports. He must have recorded his personal not. Usually i don't know but then maybe there's a lot more information that we're missing you know. Maybe his personal notes have more of these kind of sightings. You mean the ones that he was so uncertain that he wanted to keep them from his boss. Okay you have to admit. Aren't you curious. At least i mean wouldn't you want to hear your dad's voice again n. Sorry i just. I get it. Yeah and of course. I wanna hear and said she would make copies. But honestly i am. I'm reluctant to go back there. I just don't wanna i don't wanna get enmeshed. In all of her crazy theorizing. Frankly got enough of it with you professor in just gonna put this out there. What if just as a thought experiment you believed and what if you went along with all of this being real. Why would i do that. None of it israel. I know. I know i know but just what do you risk by keeping your mind open. Iris looking.

So i don't mind if i have a drink to you. It's been a bit of a weird day. It's actually been weird few days here. Have a seat so okay. So you said you recognize these symbols. Yes i i think so. Well can you tell me what you think you know. I think you should probably go wait. Wait officer maria. I don't know what you're afraid of. But i promise you anything that you say. That's gonna stay between us okay. You won't put it in your book. Okay i promise that. I will anonymous anything. I'm sorry i am not usually. I'm a cop in one of the weirdest parts of the state because there isn't a lot that frightens me. I don't believe in ghosts monsters or ufo's while we're in agreement there really. You don't believe even a little bit of it. no. I think maybe did. When i was a kid. I think it was a lot easier to think of my dad. Being taken by sasquatch then acknowledging that human beings can be capable of such terrible things. You think he was murdered. Yeah i mean don't you. That's been the prevailing theory among the police since the eighties. I think a lot has been blamed on the gathering. Yeah that's i answered. Yeah well despite what you've heard an isn't crazy so you're familiar with the gathering. Wasn't that well before your time. It was but they never really left. Freetown tried to drive them out but the gathering is still around. It is it smaller than it wasn't seventies. i think and more underground but they're still active and so the police police that they have something to do with this missing hiker. No the police don't know that the gathering still exists than having you know. My girlfriend is a member oh pricing who is. Her name is katie. Franks katie is in hiker. You talked earlier. Oh you see what. I'm talking to you instead of my boss wade had. It doesn't know that she's your girlfriend. No one on the forest is that because Are you are you worried about about. I don't know. Oh oh no not at all. No no one cares. I'm gates me. Having a girlfriend wouldn't be a problem. The fact that i have a girlfriend. Who's a member of a group that doesn't have the cleanest history with the police would be a problem though. i think. Katie didn't mention the gathering when she reported her missing. Franck no okay. Don't you think that that would be relevant information. Daniel isn't part of the gathering. Yeah but if katie is and he went missing after going hiking with her she were involved. Why would she report it. I know my girlfriend and the gathering have nothing to do with this. It's just a spiritual group. Katie joined after her mother passed away. And it's been a really positive influence on her life guts. What most cultists would say. It's not a cult officer batista. It's by definition. Know what you're thinking. But i've checked them out and i've spent hours talking to katie about who they are and what they do. They're harmless. wait. So what does all of this have to do with the symbols. You said that you've seen them before they're used by the gathering cool so katy lied to me. She didn't want suspicion being cast on the gathering again. But you're here telling me that one of their members carved a bunch of symbols into iraq. The day after my father's badge was found. I don't think the two are related at ledge has been a meeting place for the gathering for decades. It would make sense that they'd leave messages for each other there. That's what you think. This is a message from the gathering to its members it. It's how they tell each other. Where meetings are they'll carve symbols into trees or rocks sometimes even sand or dirt if the weather is drying. If they've been around this whole time why would they need to communicate where they're meeting. They're constantly moving i. I'm assuming to avoid people like me and my colleagues finding them freetown forest hakko mock swamp. They're big places. It's easy to get lost so they leave symbols and well-traveled spots to tell those in the know where they're meeting okay and this is something that katy told you so. She would know how to read the symbols. No this particular symbol system is only for core members. Katie isn't one of those she's not she's not deeply involved or anything it was just. It was a source of comfort for her. After her mom died she only goes either main meetings. Meditations and stuff okay. I'm confused this. This message is for a different kind of meeting. Yeah and katie's never been to one of those. She knows about the code. How it works. What it's for but she can't read it the only person that could maybe help you translate. That would be someone familiar with womp dog symbols. I'm pretty sure that's what the system is based on but really you need a core member of the gathering and you'll have as much luck finding one of those as you will sasquatch. Why come to me like this all with all this secrecy in subterfuge and you've seen so nervous telling me this maria. Are you sure the gathering is dangerous. The art i promise not to ass anyway. What does that mean katie. Gee she isn't on the inside but she's been hearing things. These symbols showing up near the lake is it means something the only other time they've carved on that particular rock was in nineteen eighty. The gathering is scared. What.

"Right Well mike that was an interesting diversion. let's let's get back to the task at hand shall we. This episode of bridgewater was made possible by the zebra fun. Fact in nineteen seventy one police officer. Thomas downey cited but could only be described as a giant bird on outskirts of the bridgewater trying thankfully the creature. Did it damage his car. But if it had let's hope he had insurance not so fun fact. Americans overspend on by.
"bridgewater" Discussed on Bridgewater
"Good morning. Professor morning Professor branch did you sleep here. No no we've got here a few hours ago. And i couldn't sleep and i was just trying to get some work done and i guess my own writing was the thing that finally put me to sleep. Okay i have to ask are you okay. Yeah i'm fine was just Having a dream i got. I got lost in freetown forest once. Am i supposed to know what that means. No i just forgot. But when i was a little boy my dad and i went hiking in the woods and I guess i probably a strong word we were. We went for walks. We went for walks all the time. He just loved that forest. And was this one time. When i i guess i saw something and wandered off and then when i turned around i'd lost him except that was broad. Daylight wasn't night right. Well that's good right now. I'm sure it was easier to find. you know. no no no. That's that's not what i'm talking about. Just i'm sorry. I just woke up from a dream just now about that day except it was pitch black and there was something There was something behind me. Just feeling a little feeling unsettled. Guess the old memories being dredged up. While i can say this from personal experience that i doubt falling asleep on your desk helps much with feeling settled. You're probably right when you. What are you doing here so early. While i'm glad you asked because i went down a bit of a rabbit hole last night but it was so fun i can see that. Wow is this all about am becker. He up the one and only end. Becker oh why. Because i don't think she's crazy. Okay okay just hear me out. She has closed more disappearance cases hikers kids even a missing dog once than anyone else. Invest in dyer county. I found local news clippings public record some new segments from the early nineties. I mean this lady. She is hero to a lot of people. And then the fricken force. They just edged her out. I just think when you meet her. You should go in with an open mind. They're already met her. What yeah. I went to see her last night. I don't. i don't know what to tell you. My dad encountered some kind of a monster or warm hall or something. I mean it's nuts. It's something something down by the lake. That's what she says in her defense. Water has been known to be a conduit for also my god vip in it is not real not that his real and you know that no. I don't know that i just. I know that you know we should just have a healthy sense of skepticism. But at is what i have. You cannot be skeptical about skepticism. Now i know that i just i just. I know that we don't know everything professor. I am skeptical. Skeptical of anyone who claims to understand everything about our world. But there is so much that's unexplainable it's not unexplainable. There is a rational explanation for everything. We just have to find it. Is there because look right here in nineteen eighty one a year after your father went missing. There's thank you. I can do the math. A motorist ran over an eighteen foot. Boa constrictor becker herself is quoted in this article. Nothing surprises them anymore. It wasn't the first or the last time that they found an enormous nakedness area. With no explanation of its origins. I mean come on man. People have weird hobbies maybe someone was breeding them and setting them pre. Maybe maybe escaped from kids terrarium. Okay okay maybe. But i kept digging and sightings of giant snakes go back all the way to the twenties. There are some things that you can't explain professor. No there are things that i can't explain yet. That doesn't mean that my dad encountered something supernatural. Okay he was investigating cult end of story with and becker. She was the other police officer on the case and she doesn't believe the cult theories. Yeah i know okay wiring bothering with all this. Because i ain't. I knew you wouldn't in my four years of knowing you of heard you talk about your dad half a dozen times may be. You've buried what happened but at the same time you decide to dedicate your life to studying the supernatural. I don't study the supernatural dip. And i study reports of the supernatural. I study stories about the supernatural. It's a very different thing. And then you decide to spend the next few years writing a book on the area. That took your down away from you right now. I am so regretting recommending that graduate psychology class du professor. I'm serious serious. About what so. There's been a couple of giant snakes and bekker's found a lot of missing people. So what what does that mean to. You think it's weird that your dad's badge was found in freetown forest when he went missing anoc swamp. What this article right here. december twelfth nineteen eighty. Police officer. thomas bradshaw was last seen in hawk swamp. We did you not know that No no my mom always told me that. He went missing pretense forest. You know it's It's possible the paper got it wrong. It's only one article and fake news. And all off what i think i need to go back and talk to an becker bradshaw. You came back. Can i come in. Where did my dad go. Messing november fifteenth nineteen eighty possibly laid on the sixteenth. It's impossible to know for certain. No not where. That's one of the many things we don't know what the hell are you talking about. How can you not know where he went missing. Isn't that sort of the whole point of missing. You don't know where a person is. Oh please don't be clever with me. You know what i mean. The two of you were investigating some cult The children are ticha. Yes the children of what like the salem witch trials like like that ticha A bunch of white hippies misinterpreting history and playing with things couldn't possibly understand. What do you mean by that. Do you want some coffee Sure and are you supposed to have these. What's that these old files is all police. Property isn't it. it's my property. The police closed the case. And thomas i were the only one working on it. I wrote all these files myself. I'm not sure that's how it works. Oh so you're an expert on police protocol now. How can you not know where my dad went. Missing sit down. What do you know about your dad's case. I know that he was investigating satanic cult. The children of ticha about I guess anyone into freetown for us to catch them red handed in a ritual and was never heard from again. Well that's one theory. That's the theory. We were investigating a cold. There have been reports of animal sacrifice strange symbols and woods pretty standard stuff for this part of the country but then kid went missing a twelve year old was camping with her girl scout troop in forest and when i woke up she was gone. We searched the woods for hours and hours deep into the night. i mean. have you ever been in free time for us at night. Recommend it people. Don't think of it as wilderness. But it is doesn't matter. How many town surrounded how much civilization has started to encroach on the forest. It's still untamed. There are some sections where the growth is so thick that you need a machete to cut through it. That is what we did that day and night. We.
The Bird Man
"The three massachusetts towns of abington rehoboth and freetown exist a triangular slice of land. That has become home to hundreds of reports of unexplainable phenomenon. It's known as the bridgewater triangle though. Some call it the black triangle or the devil's triangle. It might not be swallowing up. Fighter jets and colonial era ships like the bermuda triangle to the south but its history is just as storied and mysterious. One of the areas within. The triangle is the hawks swamp. It's a seventeen thousand acre wetland near bridgewater massachusetts in the sixteen hundreds it was inhabited by the wapping noah tribe of native americans and the fort. They built inside. It became a strategic location for them during king. Philip's war in sixteen seventy four one legend details how during this time of upheaval and invasion by the colonies. A powerful artifact was lost in the swamp. now. I can't find anything beyond a small wikipedia entry to confirm this but the story tells of how an object known as the wadham belt was lost during the war and as a result the swamp became the home to restless spirits. Ever since the swamp has been the source of nearly endless supply of unexplainable sightings one of the most dramatic and best documented reports was made by local police officer. Sergeant thomas downey on a summer night. In nineteen seventy-one downey was driving toward the town of eastern near a place known as bird hill that sits at the edge of the swamp as he approached the hill he caught sight of an enormous winged creature. Downey claims that it was over six feet tall and had a wingspan of almost twelve feet. After reporting the sighting to the east police he quickly earned the nickname of the birdman about you but it seems odd that a police officer would risk his reputation on such an unusual claim. If it was just a joke officer. He clearly saw something that night. Just what that thing was of course is open to debate

"Now to god. The i know that you are extremely enthusiastic about Terrence marshall going to the panthers. Twenty seven th pick of the second round just a few picks after escorts from lsu tears marshall to the panthers. What are your thoughts on this cal. I'll pick it a fantastic lang spot. you know. I think i was super high on marshall. Probably highest of just about anybody in the industry All all college season. And all you know predrag and my my enthusiasm is not where one bit. I love the landing spot where some people might be turned off on it You know I know that he is not maybe going to be immediately. Be the number. One with robby anderson and with dj more there. But i think he's going to have a clear role from day one because if you look at his body type and how profiles ios not just a big bodied receiver he also is a a burner to i mean he is true burner and You know high jump. High catch radius any any provides the wide receivers did not do as your which was give a teddy bridgewater. Now is going to be darnold. But they didn't have anybody to score in the red zone. You know everything. They they scored was from like you know deeper out or the the running backs the mike davis or you know. But they really didn't have anybody in the red zone that they could produce. So i think marshall steps in right away and could be. I bet he has a real legitimate chance at leading all rookies in in receiving touchdowns ex year. So you know it's somebody that i like. As far as a talent. I think he can easier to age. Well in that offense because He is going back with his former college coach. Now the head coach of the of the panthers. So i think that this guy drafted him whereas he might have fallen a little bit in. Nfl draft because there was a little bit uncertainty right before the draft about some of his medical history. I don't think coach takes them at high if he has any type about about the about his foot injury so i think that this is going to be the guy that's going to be all help you. Now you're gonna have some flashes. He's going to be probably inconsistent. Probably a lot like a like. I kind of value him a lot. Like the where i had claypool asher whereas i kind of knew that there was going to be a lot of competition for targets but i knew that there was gonna be a lot of upset especially if somebody gets hurt And i just think that there's gonna be a lotta touchdown and he's a big guy when people start really understanding how much of a freak athlete is. Don't be surprised if this guy is being compared as maybe even number one wide receiver in this class next year. That's that's how upside. i see you know. I do think chases a better prospect but you know they were on the same team and You know even on the team with jefferson and chase He marshall was extremely valuable piece of their natural shape team. I mean he. I think he had like fourteen touchdowns or something you know. And he had costa twenty yard per catch average on the team. I mean he he really is a tremendous player and then when those two guys left last year you know he played over about a. I don't know about six or seven seven games. you opted out. And he averaged one hundred and fifteen dollars. You're talking about more leading devante smith. It was really. I believe tears marshall who bleeding the country in yards per game you know before he opted out and he also was averaging close to two touchdowns a game you know and this same competition is all those. Stc guy so. I just liked body. I can't i hate to sound like a broken record. But i really do like big receivers. It's not the smaller wide. Receivers can't thrive in that bayer wide receivers don't bust. I just think that when you historically look at all the body types of players that are generally over six foot in there like over two hundred pounds to twenty six. I'd say two to twenty is about the average. You know we get the top hand wide receiver fantasy for fancy standpoint every year. That's probably about the average. So i like my guys. That profile big catch raises. So i just feel like they're more consistent with a when when you get that's capable of being a possession receiver getting first downs and touchdowns. I i like their consistency versus having a field stretcher. We might put up forty points in a game lake. You kyle i am. I am feeling good about carrots. Marshall and about what he's gonna do in his nfl career. The only hold back that. I have with taras marshall and again this could be viewed as a positive based on what i'm going to say in a second is so terrorist marshall hops into offense with dj more lobbying said in christian. Mccaffrey already there. So you're already looking at the possibility of being the fourth target there in carolina which i deal and add that to the fact that sam darnold who i think everyone considers at this point to be in the bottom. Half of the starting quarterbacks is throwing the ball to terrence. Marshall this is this is clearly not ideal so short term. There are some concerns. I do think like you that he's going to be great in the red zone. Short term era. You're gotta be thinking while sam. Donna already has connected to robinson clearly. The carolina organization views. Dj moore's or number receiver cj. Metcalf a christian mccaffrey a year a year ago. He broke the record for the most receptions for running back in a single season ever. She has to view him almost as a receiver. At this point with the matt of receptions which is insane that he's getting one hundred receptions i think it was a year or two ago so that that's not ideal but dynasty football dicey football so not necessarily great redraft person. In my opinion but dynasty football is about the long game and the long game. I see in the long game i see turns marshall absolutely thriving because we don't know a five we anderson's gonna be in carolina long-term. We don't know what the scenario is going to be with. Sam darnold or with christian mccaffrey. Dj more but we know the is one of the best receivers in this class in. He is talented enough will were at some point career. He will get an opportunity probably sooner rather than later if not this year to really showcase what he can do and he has the talent to be a number one receiver. I love his size. I loved as a big bodied receiver. That's a great fan a red zone. There are a lot of good things about terrence marshall and so what i was saying earlier is the fact that not going to be good in the short term is almost a positive here for you as a dynasty are because now we're seeing him fall to the third fourth fifth round pick of the second round which is lower than it should be gone if anything. This guy should be going at the back half of the first half so now because the term concern that comes with marshall. Now you're gonna be able to go up there and gets terrorist marshall and you're not gonna have to reach from either he's probably just gonna fall right in your laps and you're gonna walk is one of the biggest winners in your dynasty graphs. Because here's a guy that has a potential to be a top five receiver in this
Why Aaron Rodgers Should Go to Denver
"Here's the way. I wanna finish this today. Let's put thirty seconds on the clock for everybody and kimberly. I'm going to start with you.
