We Are Going Streaking!!!

"Good evening Bluejays Fans Brennan Pana car is in the driver's seat with the passengers, of course, there and Craig and gentlemen how you doing. How are we not be. I might have been. Baseball, game on the planet or at least come back while golfing my best game and I've done in a long time. Let me think glowed well, I understand you've had to go run out and get a coffee to stay awake been a long day. Well American runs a American America runs on. That's all tired of America, runs on Dunkin men had. At least Irish enough for the show. Right before now he's no no, no no. It's it's here. there's a good combination formula, crush the coffee, and then Chug the beer. Asking shock on the coffee then the beer. Oh well. So. Remind. Me Get. A little bit. That's. Okay man for local. Logo. You got it I I wanted replay little scenario for you guys because Let's go back to Sunday in a double header against the race to incredibly heartbreaking losses the team just look deflated after t Oskar Hernandez houses little whatever circus he was performing in the outfield. and. Completely screwed up what should have been win I guess the Tampa Bay rays to go to and one against over the weekend they go into Baltimore and Look Baltimore. Baltimore Roster officer is comprised of a whole bunch of waiver claim I think only one player is homegrown and a bunch of guys that claim from phase minor, very minor trade and they were probably overperforming so the Blue Jays went to Baltimore and put them back in their place and when you add in what they did to the Philadelphia phillies today whom you gotta five. Game Win Streak guys how the hell they put this together because it seemed like it was down in the dumps after the second game against Tampa before they will the Baltimore I mean the pitching been great. But if it just simply a matter of the offense heating up Adam. I think it's a combination of both. Honestly. I think everything is just sort of coming into play and remember this is without Ken, Giles and Bullshit. I imagine when they went down respectively and I said look come you know mid ish. August. We're going to be over five hundred and we might be in contention. I think the vast majority of Blue Jays fans would think I was drunk and even. Right drink yeah. So. It's Eh. Everything's just clicking feel like the offense is coming into form. I feel like the the pitching is dialed in especially review he's dialed in on the floor plan is performing well, minus you know some you know on the Tampa Bay Games but. there's an energy with this team and I, heard on the broadcast today Dan said they believe that they can do some damage they legitimately believe it and when you see perseverance like what we saw today. In Game Two, you have to be confident in what this team can bring. So yeah, I think everything's clicking and now is a good time for it to click. Politically Mr Borden. So as of today and even in the last five games, guys how big of a u-turn have we had from the defense actually showing up and the way they came back I'm sure that felt really good to shove it down the ill is like, yeah, that's right. At least we're on the other side of the ball this time with. This, crap. Going on because there was a few plays they're on the radio that sounded like they were just horrid. I can't wait to see the highlights I haven't gotten that far yet but it sounds like not only do we have everything click for us after a hundred seventeen mile per hour home run by Roddy, says that really kicked this thing off. How do you not get jacked up and ready to go in excited? Would that kind of thing going on that literally lit the candle on this whole damn big and they steamroll the rest of that game but I, think it was put up or shut up time guys I really think they came out really discouraged after that Tampa Bay series and it was just ready to run whatever they needed to get going to figure out what how to win some all games and they finally got to that in the last you know since Monday. Yeah no you're absolutely right I. Want to go back to Sunday when they lost that game and just the reaction on bluejays twitter, and obviously the three of us are very big into the Blue Jays twitter verse, Mary Big, where famous actually the twitter washing account any. Famous in her own right following. but I wanted specifically call out to members of twitter for good thing. Very good reason people who you both probably follow Guthman this chair. and Josh White House him on twitter both very huge knowledgeable Jay fan and how some tweeted after the game on. Sunday they need Sweep Baltimore and Guzman's Jerry said, I'd be fine with two out of three I try and did and said I'm kind of leaning on sweep. You have a chance to put the orioles in their place their overperforming and you had review kicking off that series against Baltimore and you had nate Pearson we'll get into like Nate Pearson later but where you guys were the mindset that two to three would have been fine or did they absolutely have to have a tweet Craig? I really think that the sweep helps when they had to win the series you knew going into it. You were gonNA beginning some of your best pitchers going on the hill and against at a time a Red Hot Baltimore Orioles. We were expecting that maybe it would falter at some point but guys, they had their foot down on the gas one, hundred, ten percent and it didn't look like they were going to slow down like that they ran into a wall and I'm sorry to say they weren't ready for real. Yeah. I think last week when you're we are on the show, we were talking to Bobby Kay and I said look I'd be happy with one game against Tampa Bay, and that's what happened. So having that laid out. I'm with Craig on this one I. Think they had to win the series against Baltimore on knowing that Baltimore. I. Don't WanNa say what they were on a hot streak but they were over performing I think we can all agree that Baltimore has been over achieving I'm with you. Brennan I think. Toronto wasn't a position that they had to put the orioles in their place. But at the same time winning the series is what definitely mattered. The most I'll take the sweet. I'm not complaining about this week by any means. Especially one. I think it was the next. I wake up and I see a tweet by I think was John. Hayman saying, Hey, you're blue are in contention also what? Because you don't necessarily put those things together. You just celebrating sweep at this point I'm not really used to this early in this weird season I'm not used to looking at playoff brackets or whatnot, but I guess we have to I I'm very happy that we technically took to sweeps in a row on and yeah I I'll this week I'll be greedy whatever let's go. Let's bring it on. You got a good point. Do you expect them to come out with the series with planes such bad fundamental baseball. And just blitzed through the Baltimore Orioles. Stemming from the Tampa Bay area's correct. No I was not acting in it. It was good. That was it was getting back to how they started the season because remember guys we were the first week. They didn't commit an error all they looked like they were all pro. Locked in perfect great. No problems. Then all of a sudden that series settles in and that ninety nine, just that series that whole week looks like a little teeny little league team how they were handling the ball out of the diamond. So all of a sudden to see a comeback together I think like I said, it was put up for shop time they knew what they needed to do, and they actually dug in and took it by the horns man. Yeah there's no other way of saying they absolutely did and I WANNA go back to Monday guys when that series kicked off because it's been a while probably sent David price I'd say maybe Marcus Stroman in some years the Blue Jays have had it legitimate eighth or the term that Buck Martinez in dental met had been throwing around is stopper you stopped the losing streak and you get the team palm cool and collected and pick it back up and that's why hundred review has done his last three star. Go, back when we did our live broadcast when he started against the race, you know you could see. It was good. It wasn't great his location as often with a little bit down then he goes out and gets a nine lead by the national and I think people were starting to panic a little bit because the loss of was down. What you've seen as he's gotten, do you more start under his belt? It may start off a little slower than normal in the first inning, the second third and fourth the velocity and the control get better and better and better so. Hundred. This guy that you expected the blue Jays to have on the roster or the guy who came advertised from the dodgers the last three games because I believe he's only given up to run over eighteen innings and struck up seventeen now is that the hundred re you fully expect that yes? Yes. I I do trust this front office and know a lot of it is that sort of thing the the Anti Shapiro and Atkins is that still thing? On while yeah you don't see them shelling out big contracts ray especially throughout their tenure I think the only exception was chuck right and and that was an extension relative. Yeah. Right this is the biggest one they've shelled out So these are individuals that do their homework and these are individuals that I feel have a plan a prudent plan for the trajectory of this team when it comes to the Minor League youth coming into the system coupled with free agent signings such as you. He's been phenomenal and I don't want to take anything away from it. I don't want you know Shit on the parade at all I. Think he's been great. He's definitely been one of if not the most reliable starting pitcher in this rotation minus one game one game he didn't use it mentioned it was game two of for him. The only thing I would nitpick and it's not really even nitpicking really maybe it is. I think he is the Blue Jays, ace? I'm not sure he's ace caliber just yet only because I just want see him go more than six I. Understand you WanNa go bullpen early or you want to save. For Games down the line or you WanNa make and again this is a weird season. So maybe his arm isn't fully at strength but still I WANNA see my ace go deep into games like maybe six seven or eight innings. Again I'll take the the production I think it's great input Justin. Six endings in the bullpen can pick it up fine. But for a legitimate ace on this team I, just need to see him go deeper and I have no doubt that he can. I just questioned why that's not happening. That's all. Yeah, we're spoiled over the years with the ace term. Nowadays Day Steve's and company those guys that do like you said, go way even the ball games and I think you has that it's just we haven't gotten a chance to see it yet, and I do fully think that he is slowly stretching out. There are some games. Went into the eight. The would the dog. I don't think I can't recall him throwing a complete game last year but I think that speaks a lot to the dodgers organization that they were just Kenley Jansen ninth-inning nothing. There's and when you have a closer Kenley Jansen, you use Kenley Jansen I'm sorry to say. But I. He's doing all the things I, expected I was expecting the guy that was going to get ground balls and period give like Jack and ship pets and era nothing. And guys. That is what we've seen the last three starts for him there is. In. All confidence I would think again that you were going to be in the ball lawn as a couple hits together. For the first time, he actually got that this week. A four run lead. In the game, against Baltimore, when he left. Yet. They had an issue for whatever reason scoring run in hundred reviews starts out into what you were saying and Craig touched on as well. Yeah. I wanted to go deeper to I was a little disappointed that they didn't send it back out there for the seventh inning on Monday I, know they ask Charlie Montiel that after the game and his press conference and He said the gap between innings was to law I'm pretty sure it was only like less than ten minutes of a gap between when he left the mound and was gonna go back out there for potential seventh through eighty six pitches. The one thing I've seen with hundred or you guys, I'm not sure if you've noticed this either I'm pretty sure in. Almost every one of his starts he's thrown at least twenty pitches in the first inning, and that's where his pitch down getting out of whack can't go deeper. So I'm not sure if it's because like we looted earlier, it seems like the later goes into a game. The more fine. He gets his command is lost picks up a little bit and it just. All comes together by the second third fourth inning but by then pitch comfortably high. So or anything you guys are seeing with review that is other than that. I, ending that preventing them from going deeper seems like the control issue was a add maybe nitpicky. But a TAD worrisome to because, I you're right Craig he seven eight innings consistently last year with the dodgers. My only worry is there's been a couple times. I'm surprised he didn't get rocked. You've seen those couple sliders curve balls whatever that Hong Way too high in the zone I'm a little shocked that some of those didn't get just annihilated and I think a lot of that goes to the fact that he is such a master of changing speeds that they're completely off guard by the time the ball. Does come that high in the zone whether it's a good pitch, bad pitch or whatever it might be, and they just can't figure out the timing. So it's hard for even hit that ball is meatball up at the top of the zone throat hangs that one change up and when he gets that change kinds oh my God I think is ridiculous. It just dropped right out of the damn zone it's. Obscene there's no other ways. So yeah. Yeah I think that he might just be one, and again I didn't pay too much attention to him as a dodger especially, obviously, not as much attention as I'm paying to him now maybe he just takes a little bit to establish. Pitcher that needs to fall into a groove. Any sort of does it slowly walking up a hill kind of thing Maybe it's just a matter of this is again the early portions of the season right? Is this a normal season I really hate making these parallels, but we'd be in May rain out and you would expect this kind of behavior in these tendencies in the beginning of the season and they all almost be excusable but. Now because we're so close to the finish line. We're sort of expecting a little bit more. So maybe this is just part of him getting stretched out and these things will mitigate themselves over time but it's not overly concerning I don't necessarily think that that is the reason why he's not pitching deep into games I think it's more of a bullpen management thing on Montiel right or wrong on his end. That's just the feeling I get. To mention a guys because we have a comment on twitter feed already. oh. Yeah. Pal is also concerned with Montolio never made the pitchers in because when they clearly have a lot left was the comment yeah. It's a short season. Give them a little rope. Yeah I I agree wholeheartedly. You. Yes Up to you. Especially, you know there was definitely more in the tank on Monday one hundred and Rio Eighty six pitches. He will go a hundred close to one hundred last year ended innings. We're getting a lot quicker, but you're starting a stretch in are barely into a stretch of twenty eight games in twenty seven days you need some more. Length out of your starters, and this is where I'm going to go with this next point I'm to save Nason for the end because Tuesday wasn't the greatest for him maybe we know why. But I, want to touch on Tanner roark a little bit guys just to kind of start to wrap up the Orioles theories before we touch on Grischuk by. Tanner roark. I expected a little bit more from roark and maybe that's because he's had some pretty good seasons with the nationalist before, and he just seemed like a guy who go out there and pitch to make to low for your A. Five six innings and I know he went out there on Wednesday and through five innings to give up nine hands with constantly in trouble worked his way out of jams. I don't think we've seen the best from tanner roark yet but at the same time. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence going for when you keep on the again, the walk five guys ending in the third against the red sox be weeks ago up nine had just so much traffic on the basis Craig. What do you think about moving forward because? To be. Honest. If I were in charge. He may only have another two three starts before you start truly considering replacing them why these kids in the rotation. I don't know what do you think me personally I think he's going to get out plagues and he's going to lose a spot in the rotation and very similar to how he was always the first guy to be in and out wherever he's played over the last few years it was notorious in. Washington. Suicide else was available that he was the person to be taken out of. The rotation, he's that Quasi v six starter and a lot of major league rosters and when you've got guys like K. Baraki clearly dominating in the bullpen I'd be curious to see what they could do a little bit longer of a start. Honestly what I would really like to see them do is whatever the roark day is in a couple of weeks that we don't see some improvement. Let Rocky or K., whichever one of them I don't care. or even hatch pitched the first four innings lead the next one person pitch the next four innings and see what you get. And the maybe do the flip flop that the next Max Start for that spot. See what you get. It's I have literally been just overwhelmed with hatched K. and Baraki to the point where I love them in the bullpen and for a short season I even think that makes a billion times percents sense. But when you're talking about being able to have a ridiculous I man rotation and just be confident in the fact that whoever takes the ball every fifth day you're going to have a chance to win in a shortened season means everything in the world right now. Tied Up. Yeah I just I'm not sure. I understand the frustration and I'm not trying to advocate for him to remain in the rotation. It's some of these players that were mentioning like Kay and Baraki. I think they just fit. So well in the bullpen right now and I kinda don't want met that on and you know it. Baraki, seems to founded new groove and some players just aren't meant to be starting pitchers and I think that's where we've arrived at with Baraki The same thing happened with Brett see. So I think I mentioned that on a previous show some. Yeah some people just meant for the bullpen and I think he's there I I don't know. I know we don't want to bury this lead to already about Nate Pearson but it Kinda hinges on what's going on with him. If he's not going to be in this rotation for the foreseeable future or maybe just a short term. I just don't know better options. You have because eventually he'll probably just fall back into it regardless. Yeah and again nitpicky 'cause roark they'd get out of champion only gave up two runs. He kept them in the game through five innings and then they turned it over to the bullpen, which again, the bullpen has been phenomenal this entire season space where one or two outings by San Deleo and a few others. But guys the entire offense against Baltimore came from Randolph Grischuk and that was the craziest outburst I've ever seen probably from Randall critic I know he's capable of getting hot much PR Hernandez on his rear end even more to last June but he was their entire offense. I'm pretty sure four home runs with eleven. Rbi. It has three games against Baltimore play in Baltimore. Saranda grand continue. Orioles tried trade for them. That's the real mode. Take Him. Give us a prospect whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Adam makes me think you know I know Grischuk didn't do much today but again, he's coming off an incredibly hot series against Baltimore he looks better at the point He's taking a few more walks than normal. He's getting deeper and accounts than normal and he doesn't seem to be striking out as much. You feel maybe I know again, this is going to be a theme on every podcast. A weird sixty gave season numbers. Sample sizes are extremely small compared to hundred sixty two but could this maybe be the star of Renchik breakout which we're all kind of hoping for? No I'm sorry. I. Hope it maintains I. Really Do. But I think we've seen that he's he can be streaky to me the parallels between him and lar- weren't that far off in terms of their their streak at late when they were on, they were on remember early April Kevin Pilar he was just on fire and your. Yes. Red Sox. Fan. On your team in the start of the season sell high but I just I I think he's a fine player I really do an and I like him on this team. We've had this discussion before when it came to him and Stroman but I I do think you know the comparisons because they were beefing in? But I think that when it comes to Great Chuck He's just very streaky I I don't want to scoff at the four home runs and the eleven RBI's and just one shrink out within that stretch against Baltimore. But I just think that this type of production is unsustainable throughout the entirety of season or even the majority of the season. I just I. I don't have the confidence I love to be proven wrong but seeing what I've seen last year. I just I can't see it. So I'M GONNA play. Devil's advocate because I do think there is some good things here going on that I'm actually honestly very impressed with as I know, you guys probably know that I've taught. Some you know young little kids, batting instructions and stuff like that for my time playing baseball and I tried to pass on. My knowledge that I've learned from being a terrible hitter millionaires. But. The approach I think you said the big thing right there Adam was that he had one strikeout through that series. Yes. The Guy has been notoriously bad at making solid contact because he swings at things outside the extra the strike zone really expands its I'll let pitchers really take advantage. Doesn't take a lot of walks, which is one thing you can take a lot. You can take very little bit walks and still be a guy that selective and get good good pitches. I think the difference right now is he's actually letting the ball come to him. Instead of just trying to block out of everything you. Buy Mind you he still has been one of the highest exit velocity players. Ranking consistently every year. So this is a guy that literally when he does make solid contact with it, he hits the ever loving piss out of it. So we're going to see more of that I. Think I don't think it's going to be anything like the street in Baltimore I. think that is literally a straight. But yeah, I think the sustainability of the average has improved because watching him just the way he looks like he's a different hitter to me the bank stance and everything is exactly the same but the approaches completely different even what I've seen pretty much in this collective little short season we have over barely over twenty. Twenty four games as of today. I. Think Twelve were. Yeah. Twenty, three, twenty, four, twelve. Anyway. At that point just letting him see him actually like waiting in guys is a guy and literally pulled the ball all the time. He's taken balls the right field that I would have last year I was seeing him try to pull. So there is something sinking in to where he is allowing the ball and like I said, the game is coming to him now a little bit more in the box instead of him, just trying to force the game. I think. It will be a beautiful thing if the. Again Yeah. The streak like that. That will happen from time to time. They're not saying that that will be the norm nobody should ever expect that to be any player in baseball, but there are some encouraging things crazy right. If you do look at Grischuk baseball savant page for anybody listening to our conversation there's a lot of red on the percentile ranking for rent critic and read is better blues back and a lot very barreling the ball like crazy bast like we knew that but is expected batting average high all stuff that used to. Be towards the middle or the blue side and again small season smaller sample sizes. There's only twenty three that we played so far as a team, but it's encouraging especially with the out for whoever knows how long we're gonNA need guys like Randall and hopefully rowdies Lesin Hell even Travis Shaw has looked better allows little wild to starting to chip then but overall guys fantastic series against Baltimore. There's no other way to say it. We missed about the Orioles Series crack I just WanNa make one point Randall Grischuk for some reason in the to spot. His look really good to me. I think part of that whole thing I was just talking about the fact that he has the CIA to leads and everybody after him. There is something to say that his speed and whatnot and the way he gets the ball plays pretty well in that to spy, and honestly with the way Boba shot was hitting at the beginning of the season he should be our number three. And I think with him. If he when he went and if he does come back here, which is sounding more and the when ballpark not if right now. Yeah. You put him in three spot. Those guys in front of them are still quick enough in Kevin Busy Oh and grit check that you're not slowing. Bush shut down on the as PAT's and winning your best hitter in a spot where he's going to get plenty of at bats. So grischuk might not actually have submitted some. Yeah. That's. Yeah. That's speed. Right off the Bat I I really that lineup makes me a little thirsty. I. Love It. look I again, I don't want to take anything away from gray today he did go hitless. So I don't it's a little frustrating but I'm obviously willing to excuse that because of the production that he's been given because I'm looking at the stat line right here it kind of eye-popping even given the Tampa Bay series he he went on a hitting streak since August what the eleventh, the first game against. Miami he hit all the way up until today he's had every single game up until today. So that kind of production that's sort of. A little bit more than a shriek. If you think about it, it sort of fizzled out today it's not that he wasn't productive or the approach wasn't good it just it wasn't his day so I'd like to be wrong. I like to be long-term wrong about Randall. Grischuk I the evidence doesn't suggest that, but Craig, your eye when it comes as hitting approaching. This the fundamentals of it I trust you so. I know the fundamentals I just can't do it. That's why I'M GONNA show. And we're glad you're here. I still be here even if I was making millions of dollars. It does you know going to call. To run. A guy can ride my bills. Yes yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. We'll record whatever city you're going to as part of travel then. Hey I went up in the dreaming at the or the anyway Completely opposite doubleheader for the Blue Jays today as compared to. On Sunday where again we touched on it, they look completely deflated but let's start with game one game one saw I think this was chase Anderson's third start since coming off the injured list for the Blue Jays media's fourth pretty sure as his third only went three and two thirds gave up four two runs only one of them were earned. We look okay I'm not going to take anything away from Chase Anderson he kept them in the ball game. He never let it get away from them. There wasn't a whole lot of traffic on the base paths for him but after Shea Sanderson. Julian Mary weather guys has finally arrived. This is the guy. The Blue Jays got from Cleveland for Josh Donaldson. Weather. Huge potential is apparently what we were sold the untold at the time of Johnson. J. With Cleveland but injuries inconsistency in the minor leagues just hindered his progress and development finally healthy made his debut today and what do you guys? Julian Mary weather strikeout three guys one an inning in third struck a three of the four batters faced. Adam. Either, arrive, we can no longer say who who the fuck it, Julia Mary Weather. On. Scott they might be. Blue. Who is he's really good is where they're out now. Are excited and I'm I'm happy for me made League debut and. He's gotTa be compared for the rest of his bluejays career. As long as he was a team against Josh Johnson because of that trae bad a pretty good start for the cat. I loved it. I love watching it. He looked confident and he looked poised. He didn't look shook in the moment even going up against Harper I. Think it was for his last at least a close the inning i. think it was He looked great and. I I'm not necessarily always going to be like we won the Josh Donaldson Trade 'cause. Maybe. Maybe. But it depends on what what happens from here here on out but you have to be confident and again this is another element of the bullpen that can sort of strengthen ray especially if this is consistent now again, just an evening and a third I don't WanNa take too much out of that. This is baseball after all there's a good chance he's GonNa get rattled it it's probably going to happen Sometime Yeah but for for this kind of situation, especially in a shortened game, a seven inning game where Anderson. As you said Brennan he he wasn't phenomenal but he wasn't terrible. It was just for me. The pitch that I saw was the homerun run that he gave up otherwise I thought he was fine I guess Having, Matt meriwether coming. Just, an arm right out of the pen for relief. I love it, and if he can sort of get stretched out to see a little bit more than ending in a third again but given the shorting game I, understand I liked what I saw it. It's a really really good off point. Greg. So. That those strikeout numbers are high popping for debut guys. That's the thing that stands out to me. This is a major league lineup I. don't care what how good bad ugly the phillies look right. Now, Andrew mccutchen still had two hits in today's game and the first. So you got plenty of presence in this lineup and he went through the lineup. Getting six outs right now four outs. But so he saw some good meat of this lineup and got some really got a chance of sick sink his teeth into something actually real for a major league outing wasn't just I'll. You'll face the last three guys in the lineup the Phillies lineup I'm sorry to say guys is pretty good all the way through it. So. Talking like Jeans Cigarette Company, at the bottom right. Yeah but still. I just can't imagine anything to the point where he is having. If this is what we're going to see for them out of the bullpen, his stuff carey's pretty damn well out. He's not. He's not going to get a chance to start a game I don't care what anybody says but if he's going to be able to do this kind of stuff, this is the kind of role player that somebody could sneak into role in really solidify the Blue Jays bullpen online. We've already seen what Rocky K. Romano and hatch can do this bullpens and if one of them graduates to the you know the actual starting rotation like we were. You know alluding to a minute ago. Meriweather has a job opportunities in the wings and it looked really good to be able to do that today. It's stuff is right on par with an Anthony. K, Orion Baraki overseeing from those guys even palm attach the bullpens right? There is a job for the taking for Julia Mary weather and I hope he sticks I mean fantastic. If going into twenty, twenty one, we could do we meriwether. There's another one Jillian dairy weather coming out of the bullpen is an option and one that is nine hundred, ninety, eight miles per hour, and you can be back end arm or I don't know what the Hell's GonNa Happen Ken Giles but pieces are falling into place in the back end of the bullpen and Julia Mary weather hopefully got that kick started today but you know that wasn't the only guy who date win on walk-off fashion by Lurs real junior got through a little grounder that just kinda snuck over I think Scott kingery a third of whoever it was and they won the came back but it was the second game. Again the most epic comeback. So last week didn't they on Thursday Mike Weller was saying they did that or when they did that against the Marlins last week second time mad at eighty. Seven Ron deficit yeah. So and this time to finish the job. Fantastic I think Jesse Barfield set last. I saw right before we went live that he said I can't believe that tenacity of this team. And I agree with them heartedly because Oh. My God that it's just insane the know that. From everything out listening to the Radio Feed and listened William Wagner today while I was on the golf course. They were deflated and they were tired and they didn't look like they even showed up for the first five innings and that's why the phillies ran right over him. Then, oh, by the way this in the sixth inning, you get nice home run from right to lead, and then a few errors they fucking took crazy advantage. They jumped phillies throats when they had a chance to do it and I think the big thing is guys they went three for six with runners in scoring position today. Is it's only five hundred. Oh, but still way better than what the fuck they've been doing. Yeah that's for sure I don't any thoughts on the comeback. the game too was a joy to watch and I like you Craig in the beginning I was listening to it on the radio so. I wasn't really getting the full. Effect of the the first-inning deficit which I'm kind of thankful for. But watching that through and through it was kind of a tale of this put up or shut up time, and again, this is what I was saying at the top of the show this team believes in each other and they they have a willingness to persevere, and this is evident today there was no giving up no quit in this team and you love seeing that in these kids and that's what's great about the soul young to have that sense of perseverance in the at this young Asian. This early in their tenure as major league players is absolutely crucial for their success moving forward. Mike Harrington tweeted out this he said. So among their seven games in Buffalo, the Blue Jays have overcome deficits of eight Oh in seven Oh that is. That is a and you guys alluded to it already C e seeing a seven nothing I in. In today's contest. The second one I didn't think they're going to be able to overcome that I honestly didn't I was. That's that's a really tough hill to climb and it came down to the wire took a butterfinger effects from gregorious there at short but man what an inning, what a great game to sort of kicked off with the less homerun that you alluded to as well Craig I think that was the longest in Salem. Field history or the exit be rather beer garden that Brennan and I were a little smashed just yeah. I think it's the second fastest exit velocity, a home run of the season I. Think it trailed stay in if I'm not mistaken. The exact same. So he acts. Okay. Hide the major league exit velocity lead today what he? More or less came pretty damn close to hitting the external parking garage behind feared wall. The. One that they put frigging plastic in because they didn't want people hanging out in the car parking garage and watch. You know this is the type of thing that it makes you happy because we were sort of critical and especially on my end, we're sort of critical of rowdy till as in the preseason right we weren't sure that there was necessarily a place for him because the D. H. Slash averse base position with sort of logjam but he is definitely proving his weight he really is and he's definitely on a mission I love it I love the tenacity I love the confidence. There is no quit in the team and man I that second game was just a joy to watch especially at the end because it was definitely a nail biter, you love one of those games but. I it makes me just so happy five wins in a row man that is crazy and what a way to cap it. Very under son hero the today period, his lawyers junior. It's nice to see actually hit yet. I've been saying for about a week now that he's been hitting the balls right on the screws and it's been going right to people today it didn't go right to people in the sending game he ended up getting to army is too. I think so again. Yes He. Three. Also, scored Iran would that home run hit? So. Things are finally coming to place for Lawrence correal junior guys when he's been sixth. I think that's shows even with bobby shot gone at the moment that how deep this lineup really can be and how scary it really should be major league pitchers. Yeah they're growing like crazy the offense, which is not hitting it all with runners in scoring position, but it seems like ever since they've settled into buffalo as their own, the offense have clicked. Maybe that's some good luck with playing some bad teams are not calling the phillies bad team. But at the beginning of the year when they were on the schedule, we said you can compete with the phillies and they did that today by sweeping the two-game series five-game wintry guys. That's pretty damn good to go into the. Gas. I WanNa say we can continue this but we're going to fuck trump feels Four or four you have four. It's four games up a trough wake. I got shoemaker going tomorrow and review on Saturday. Both of them have had some pretty great stark against face this year especially shoemaker but I mean in your is going again tomorrow and Brian. Yarbrough in his career has absolutely owned the Blue Jays guys. But before we get into kind of predicting this series I, want to remind you got. A. Blue. Won Their first game of the year. against. Tampa. They were tied going into the eighth inning against the race. Before Same Leo came in and Ken Giles Injury. They won that game and took the series two one and if you go back to this past weekend, they kick the crap out of them on Friday. They lost the first game and they had two outs with a chance to win the series on Sunday. In the second game, they could be going into this series four and two against the race. Will they have played the rates pretty well as well but it's just damn blocked for whatever reason craig the rays have our number everything seems to go wrong especially late in a close ballgame what are you feeling for this series because there are good pitcher storm My biggest problem with the previous raise games is everything that they actually finally took advantage of what self inflicted. Yes. As of today, the Tampa Bay rays are actually the leading team in the American League after they swept the New York Yankees. Off. But. This pitching staff is already taking a giant. Injury issue with Charlie Morton being gone. Yeah that's a huge haul for them had the for your out hurry up and figure out how to scramble to get somebody to fill that giant innings eater that veteran light Charlie Morton is going to be. Would be handling otherwise. I just there's something about the raise that they always find a way to win. But if you had to tell me right now if the Blue Jays were infinitely worse than the Tampa Bay rays, I would laugh at you because I really think if everything was right or some certain little tiny mundane things happened differently that we swept and taking all those games against the rays outside the one that they completely blew us lockout. So. The fact that they have competed in every game against the now American League East. Leading. Team. says. A lot and I think wait. Now the craziest thing is going to happen is both these teams have insane amount of momentum going on. And they're gonNA literally full on run into each other colliding. And it's GonNa. Be Fun to watch I hope because in all reality, this could be a playoff battle the way you're looking at it right now, the Blue Jays continue to trant trend in the direction that they have done over the last week even if they were halfway or your guys we're talking to team that is now solidifying their competence. That's probably GONNA be hanging around I would hope at least five hundred for the rest of the season. I also. Think they can win to at least in the tour game series. Are you feeling confident enough they that or just one out of the fourth It's like come on at. The Bar God. Yeah I was GONNA say to I was going to say I think they could split the Siamese. First of all, they don't they don't have to deal with any sort of rain outright these are definitely going to go full through. they don't have to worry about any sort of lineup management for for a double header. I do think they can take to especially with shoemaker going I think they can take to. If, they do take to. Lose the other two whatever I think that puts us in a good position obviously take all four obviously take three, but they take to a happy person. But what what strikes me is awesome about this again, I don't WanNa look too far ahead but right after that, you get seven games. Boston. Baltimore Fray Three Against Boston four against Baltimore. That could be another hot streak right there. So whatever happens in this series say they only take one of them. You can take solace in knowing that they're going to go back home to to Buffalo Home and face Boston and Baltimore immediately after, and they can gain significant ground right after that. So I'm not writing too much on the longevity as to what's going to happen and what decisions are going to be made for trade deadline based on this series alone because on the other end of that, they have something that can revitalize them. So again, I'll take two and be happy about it just because of what's coming up after that. Right now, the big thing they need to make sure they continue to do throughout this race series regardless of record lady to sustain some momentum and sustain the competence. Yes. They built up eight data combines, who is a whole different feel and swagger after watching that second game today. Are On top of the world in that dugout guys in the fact that like you said a minute ago, they have a damn home. They have a place we return to. Work, and regardless of the fact that they're all still you know wearing the homeless Jay's shirts and stuff around locker room, which is looks hilarious. I think they've finally found somewhere that they can you know. Gather around as far as. Something to realize the idea is like, okay we survived the hard part. Now we have home what's hit the ground and run with this. Yeah I completely agree and I think they can take to as well. I have a terrible feeling guys that they will take maybe the first two, hundred three and have a chance to win on Monday and classic warm at the Trot. Somehow. Drop it so I have been things you game but hey shoemaker rigo going those are two best guys right now with nate fearsome now injured. and. You know that's kind of where I wanNA leave this to right now here's an was not He was not good again on to the at the fuse rough starts in a row for the marlins get. This one wasn't good I mean I don't WanNa say that the elbow issue was contributing to this, but Pearson was never this a radical in the minors a much better control it location with much better. So maybe elbow inflammation or whatever it is, has something to do with that. Greg Ross? Said today and I forget which beat writer tweeted it. They're pretty firm in the fact that even if he comes back this year which seems likely I don't think they're overly concerned. He'll go right back into the rotation is that the right play for Nate Pearson the rest of the way out the vitamin rotation are you being extra cautious with them and putting them in the past right now I really think it pinches in on everything we were. Just, talking about if I have a chance to get somebody caliber and have the kind of crazy stuff that we have seen from Pearson come into this post trade deadline and the next two weeks at the same getting best free agent Pitcher, he possibly could get this guy i. saw him pitch I literally watching Roger Clemens back when he was with the Blue Jays and Yankees and stuff when I finally got a chance to see live Roger Clemens as a kit. That this stuff is insane. So I as far as Blue Jays fans are concerned. I do not think I can say this with one, hundred, ten percent confidence. They have not seen the real nate Pearson because the control you hit the nail on has not been there. The WASSI has been there all day, but he usually was painting the corners with the fastball and a slider that he throws throughout his minor league career Washington with the Fisher cats and whatnot. Last season I watched a lot of myrlie games especially I was treating me Pearson starts as must see TV on minor league. TV. So. It was just crazy to see I. I can't say disappoint he's I think he's grown and learned a lot in these starts as have the major league level but it doesn't shock me after watching him the other night that maybe something else was hindering him for whatever reason to the point that he is not the. Comfort level that he would be on a mound like normal. So I'm glad and everything it sounds like they did exactly what they should do and everything it sounds like is trending in the right direction that maybe it wasn't as bad as they thought. But where are we at is where we're what I'm concerned with but worse case than guys. He will be in the bullpen by the end season. There is no doubt in my mind and you've got a guy I control hundred out of the bullpen. This comes out near as. Three batters. atty with that. I just I'm concerned because elbow anything is not what you WanNa hear especially from someone with that this young this fresh in the. and that throws as hard as he does he definitely lost faith in this fastball. It seemed in that game. He was going slider a lot and I, don't know if that's because of the armed discomfort I'd imagine it is They're still awaiting the results of the MRI right and it depends on where you're at now it. Like you said Craig does depend on where you're at depends on what kind of a push they're making. If they are legitimately making playoff push, do you risk it? Do you risk the longevity of him as a starter maybe blowing up his arm sidelining him for a year with Tommy John just for the sake of a playoff run do you risk it? I. Don't know I'm really torn I. Don't have an answer for that I. don't. I'm I'm legitimately down the middle because I want this team to go into the playoffs just get into the dance the other time this is this is the Jim. Guy, that's going to anchor our rotation. So it's it's definitely precious cargo. So I'm not sure how to handle this my fear about putting them in the bullpen is that I'm worried about a repeat Aaron Sanchez scenario, right? That's also my fear because they are similar. They definitely harder ray and the stuff is a little bit if not a lot better than Aaron Sanchez but the flip flopping is what concerns me because that's objectively what fucked up Aaron Sanchez in the organization objective. Yeah I. Don't want a repeat of that if if they're going to put them in the bullpen to ease him back in and say, Hey, just for this year because it's such a weird season, we could use your heat coming out of the bullpen next year for sure starting and they follow through with that fine fine I'll take it but you have to follow through with it you can't going back. You have to make a decision and I, think that's where the rat right now. I really do because I don't think they want to damage if they are in playoff contention and they think there's even a. Ten percent chance of putting him in the rotation and risking that they would probably but we can put you in the bullpen and save a season. There's a difference there right? He'd be setup. Rates. It's your mono all over again. Yes it. So. Now, that's a very difficult question to answer because if you do get Pearson right and you get into a three-game series against Oakland or the Yankees, you could feel pretty damn confident having a review Pearson going game one and game two. Only got to win two of those right. If you get one of those wins the bat, then you're playing the three most likely but at the same time, if it's not the same napier and he injures his arm and still get into the playoff. It's not like over nobody's saying that this team could win the world series. It'd be nice to get there but. It's like all for naught if they get balancing the first three game series that they play the I think that I think that question you posed is one that very difficult to answer that point one that might become a little clear after the results of this. MRI. But again, as time goes on when he's ready to go see where the blues are out if there are a few games above five hundred, they're very likely in a playoff spot or in the conversation let's tough guy transporting today wasn't exactly leave wiped out he was visiting pretty. Ran. Nation Barrier Erotic. They have an opening rotation for Sunday. It won't be threatened because he wants today who gets napier some spot when that comes up because you could insert theoretically or do a bullpen day or piggyback or whatever. But you insert somebody likes upper rockies a K. or Thomas Hatch and might arrive or are you just going without a bullpen day or giving transport that spot for a little while to see what he can do out of? I think what the probably will do will be hatch. I would prefer K. I don't WanNa mess with Baraki I. I just feel like it's too fragile right now and he's riding fire in the bullpen. Don't mess it up I have more confidence in Anthony K as a starter, honestly all of the three in general terms I'd rather see Anthony K start. So that's where my mind is heading and given the fact that he was throwing heat today he would all my yacht it was gorgeous I'd like to see that in star even if it's just four innings at at minimum for innings I'm fine with it as long as he's throwing heat Gimme, Gimme the Gasman. Kick. The idea. If everything lines up like we were talking about earlier in the shelf, this is the dual start thing. Jr Hatch or K I don't care which one of them and then flip for the other one for the The next four innings and the Nice thing is calm. You need the biggest problem was neither of them have been really stretched out to the point. Yes. They have thrown two or three inning gains but none of them have really went sinning stretch. So I'd be fearful to throw them out there especially when we are kind of backing contention here and actually have a chance to really run with something here while I was the team is not. That I think you really need to just let them to run their four innings each and hope to get basser whoever and there at the end of the game and lock the thing up I think that would also give you a very valid sampling of data against the teams playing in the next two weeks. To run with, you do have to keep filling that spot with. Okay. Hatch was lights out what him run the next star and see if he can do six innings at least you're kind of like progressing it instead just going home. Good fucking luck hapgood. So but I really think I like I. Agree With Adam that the Baraki idea it's still. Too, fragile too close to those. Yeah juries to really. I, think let him ride it out this year in the bullpen. Yes. guardless as much. Yes. Exactly, I think at one point at some point or the other you are going to have the resurfacing compensation if you WanNa, give him another shot at the rotation I don't think you even bring that into the topic this year he is just looked show incredible. Let him just completely bolster that idea the competence this season out of the bullpen and had that fact that he knows he can get major league enters out any damn time he wants to, and if he does come into the starting rotation in the next couple years because we don't have the chase, Anderson's the row Ark's and whatnot. Let them join the conversation. Right, now, I want him to be brought seasonal in that bullpen. Through, people. And then you can let right now hatch kate fight it out for that fifth spot if it becomes available. You guys are perfect. You get into that next topic. Point. For those of you because that was what I was going to bring back and I agree with you guys wholeheartedly and Craig touch on what you're saying with Hatch K.. That's what they did in game three against the race when the season open they started with hatch and went to Anthony Gay. I could see the exact same thing just to get trend Thornton the Monte take years bought or yeah. Go the opposite way. The next time it comes up but I had Ross Atkins said today guys Ryan Rep he's been absolutely phenomenal I. Mean if you want send go check out his either Dan grapage four it's safe. All savant page eight gains seven and two thirds innings of four team. Strelka. Basically a pretty much. Two strikeouts per appearance with that. Now, he's confident. He's looking good and you have a history of arm issues to which is maybe why they're wanting to be super careful. But do you think long term that this is the spot for Baraki because I can see him at the end of the year being like guys when we come back for hopefully. A normal twenty, twenty, one season in spring training I want to start I think they'll give that to him but I really am enticed by a high leverage and high workload lever. They're thinking like ninety one, hundred innings out of the bullpen and then you have Andrew Miller two, thousand, sixteen all over again. That's pretty damn enticing. Isn't it like come on Even the pen keep them in the FA. That's I'm sorry keeping him in the. Yeah I'll agree. My biggest problems I have seen a growing incredible start against the Yankees in person and. He has the stuff to be a great starting pitcher. The longevity question is really what will maybe possibly shoved him into a bullpen spot. That's the really the big question and funny enough like we keep making this this. That's exactly the problem that Brazzi soil and Casey Janssen had in the angry angry bird years. Those guys were whites out for a couple of seasons is in the starring rotation and they just couldn't keep on the mount. So what do you do with them and then the poll those guys became the best relievers we had in a decade. So, there is that kind of thing going on here I have no doubt in my mind that Ryan is going to be a great pitcher for this organization I just don't know where he fits right now and I'm less something changes going into next year's off where we do get a James Paxton or somebody else to top end Allah. Sorry But in the unless they get something like that, I don't see how he ends up falling out of the conversation for starting rotation spot is he's going to they're going to they're going to know more about what he can do in however many innings this year and as you've mentioned already he's been lights out for the season so far and there is no doubt in my mind I him getting the ball whenever it is, he's going to do something. It's tough. I think longevity is the key because go back into the rotation I. Guarantee You one thing velocity won't say ninety, four, ninety, five because it didn't in two thousand, eighteen, it was in the lower ninety, ninety, one, ninety, two and I think that's what made him through effective is wider has so much more by that. It's coming in faster he can air it out for an ending or two and just look absolutely incredible. So it's GonNa be a tough decision it's. Very. Good guys I mean I know we're running a little long. Now it's very good. This team is starting to get some answers on these pictures because there was that going into the season starting to be a little bit of what do you do with all of these arm and it's slowly falling into place and you know if Kobe gives us one thing that sixty game season is giving us a lot of Dan answers about what the team can be like twenty twenty one. If you get into the dance as an eight seed and you have a review and a shoemaker or Pearson going on Lake that top to over anybody to make maybe run a surprise run if the offense is still getting very well. because. I WanNa hit on one more thing before we do picks clic clay-court address some of the twitter questions we got here. Really, quickly, give me your thoughts on Anthony offered the assay Adam because man, the guys so likable everybody wanted to see him succeed and it's crazy that he was the longest tenured Blue Jay until yacht outta here he's been around for a while, but he's only had seventy five Carter Plate appearances in four seasons at the big league level just never had the chance to succeed these think well, I think he will get picked up at them but do you think a change of scenery is GonNa do them well. I want to say no because if you're not gonNA succeed with the Blue Jays, I don't want. selfishly. Romano thing happens all over. Yeah, you know. We talk about and we've sort of touched on it. In this show the confidence we have in this front offices assessment of talent especially, young talent. We have a lot of confidence in it because more often than not they've been pretty good in terms of their development if not outstanding, they obviously don't see something in Alford and the reason why I feel I'll speak for myself that I'm so attached to him because I see the athleticism, see the sheer athleticism that he has to offer. Sort of have to take my rose colored glasses often understand that maybe that doesn't translate to being outstanding baseball player doesn't always happen and I I want to say that if I'm not mistaken, he was a football first athle- et baseball second so Maybe, that has more to do with it that this isn't his primary wasn't his primary passion not to say that he's not giving it his I believe he does, but I, maybe the effort leading into becoming a professional athlete was more geared towards football on the beginning and then baseball of the the option B the reason why I bring this all into the equation is that this management and this front office staff definitely evaluate talent. Well and if they're not seeing something and they've waited this long. They've done this numerous times and they waited this long I. Think I think the door shut and I sort of made my peace with it fine but. I mean I hope he does succeed like unselfishly somewhere else. I. Hope he does succeed but man I would just like to fall back into the lab. That's all. I agree with you one hundred percent on the athleticism it is there and it's in spades. As and translated on the baseball field. My honest opinion of the fact that they took so long to figure out what is going on with Anthony already because they honestly did expect more. So the talent they evaluate was here and they're getting this. What you do and right now it's more or less they ran out of options. There's other things I have to be done with the team and the unfortunately anthony offered is the one that has to take the bullet for the rest of the team. I. Honestly think whole that he is going to be perfectly fine wherever he lands. I think this is the classic. He hasn't had as much time in baseball. You really dig dig into it. He was a football first athlete. He decided to play baseball because he thought he would have a longer and better career in baseball. Period, and this is a guy that was pretty damn good football player everything that he was a this the star period. So for him to all of a sudden around and choose baseball, this is one of those things to me that if Michael, Jordan actually decide to stay being a baseball player Terry Francona himself said it he knew that he would have made the major league. Baseball it was one of those things that did not have enough time to really come to a simmer and run with it, and I really believe that anti offered is full that case that get some point it's going to click. It's GONNA be probably one of those guys that's the Magic Twenty, seven, twenty, eight year old that all of a sudden is like Oh, my God. And it's going to be I pray with how shitty our outfield is. and. It's going to a Jay uniform because there's also a team that's been saying, Derek Fisher. Sang. Craig I, love that you brought up the twenty, seven, twenty, eight year old where you've got to walk getting close to that. Now I think it's still twenty six by if he goes somewhere and get some steady at that and he starts to put it together and learn more. Lorenzo Cain all over again I'm sorry I know I've made that comparison so many times but you you may have Lorenzo Cain all over again. CAIN was extremely late blossom with the royal. He I I can't remember who ends came with two sport athlete as well but we are. Very, similar bill's big guys. Six same skillset. They're pretty much the same player in a way and it took a lot longer than most to develop into the player he became. That's why Milwaukee traded them originally and they're like. We made a mistake. We got bring them back. Expect. Exactly this is what we wanted. You because. They'll I hope Anthony offered does put it together selfishly because yeah, you're right. The outfield is pretty much in shambles for the most part say for Lord, S and p off guards grandma beyond. Okay. Yeah, terribly there. Might below it like the perfect point the perfect point cannon visual starring in Centerfield today. Yes, he did. Not Create more depth. The have to occur more depth somehow because after the first three and Cavan, it's extremely barebones and it bothers me that billy mckinney is still getting shot I. Know they're trying to. Watch robbed if we're going to face somebody I'm sorry say billy mckinney is it written all over from the me? Already to ceiling they love them. They love him. They took up on the Yankees they. Try. Why? Me every. Last drop out of grand jury mckinney before we get. They have was their best trade. And they fucked up like I'm sorry to say it's not worked out at all. I agree I would if it were me, I would have gotten rid of Billy mckinney and kept anthony offered around but. We're not in charge guys we just want to. I said, we don't get paid the big bucks. That's why we have such on the air like this with our. Listeners that happened tonight. It's more than two hundred twenty-five listeners tonight. So thank you. Everybody. Thank you everybody for listening and look this or the bolter you are loyal listener I. Off Fair. Yeah, we okay. Toby picked. Anthony. Yes, actually probably wanting out of the group Vic I stuck with. which unfortunately I went rowdy. Rowdy. And Brown and I don't remember who you had run and. I actually don't even know if you had an armed. Whatever I. Sit Down but either way I'm going give the points to bobby because. Has Been Consistent now, Walpin throughout the season was lights out again this week. So yeah points about of eight points to the guest spot. Craig wanted to kick off who are you picking to click over the race of we recorded that I'm going to be a decade screw over Adam, Corsair and takeout and visual this week. Right, I just wanted to see if you can actually pick somebody else besides cabin. I haven't picked Gavin I only I've only picked him once right. So I'm GonNa go because I feel like he needs it. And we haven't talked we. We've touched on it in previous episodes but has been glaring. I'm going to throw them a bone. Maybe this will help I'm going Blatty. Does. He needs it. It's been trike it up. He had a couple of hits today, right? Yes including. Just, hit too hard. Otherwise, he would add a double. Gaming it's so hard over the left fielder. It was one hops back to the left fielder ever hit the wall. I I know exactly what you're talking about. I usually go the pitching side if they you're right but I'm GONNA go back to the offense. I've liked what seen on on the screen the last week a bit and on his baseball savant page associates trends I'm going to try to saw I try got really unlucky last leases season for the first few weeks of the season. Plus he had the issue where you have to step away from the team. A little bit longer to get going. But each question, the ball, he's making very hard contact and it's starting to show. I'M GONNA walk in Travis Shaw, as my pick the collector the. Speaking Travis shortage. You guys notice that Dante, tokens number. How did he? Yeah. In the beginning of the season, he was number twenty one dante count comes in Dante's now number twenty, one in which to six. I am back to the twenty one out of here. Yeah. He's like, Hey, my number now right chose.
