Bad Policy Begats Bad Results

"Yesterday, the producer price index was released. It was up .8% from January up 10% year over year. Brian Westbrook joined me first trust portfolio senior economist. Brian, it just doesn't stop. They do not know how to stop this. Right. They don't. And you know, this is what happens. Bad? I mean, I know this sounds like easy to say, but bad policy begets bad outcomes. So you go back to the 1970s, we had higher taxes, more spending, more regulation, and we printed too much money. And the result was that not only did the U.S. economy take it on the chin with inflation we had stagflation slow growth plus high inflation, but when the U.S. economy takes it on the chin, the world takes it on the chin.

"brian westbrook" Discussed on Bleeding Green Nation

"They were three and five going in that game. Not looking too hot. They win that game and they go eight. They end up going to run. That takes them to eight and five. That game was sort of the beginning of that magical full season our he throws was at twenty seven touchdowns two interceptions and then they. They make a playoff game. That's really memorable year during the chavarria. A couple other games from that season on this list. But that's the first game rethought. Oh my god is this. Nick foles guy special. He seemed okay. Look though kenya. Twenty twelve season. he's ships. You're now is this guy going to be the next franchise quarterback for this team. We're gonna be watching him for the next ten years and it's a real twisted thing right. The way he looked back at nick foles first tenured philadelphia and he wasn't the savior. It wasn't a franchise but in the ends up being what the most important player in the history of the philadelphia eagles divine intervention debt. Super bowl win was divine intervention number nineteen on west week three twenty seventeen eagles super bowl. Season jake elliott's walk off. Sixty one yard field goal to win it. Eagles win twenty seven. Twenty four eagles were one in one. That was their first home. Game of the season. I was up in the stands at the link for that game. It felt like one hundred five degrees there. It's the hottest i've ever been in. Eagle's even talk about you know the coldest games ever. That's the hottest game. I was ever at the little woman who sits next to you. My season tickets was could not stop giving me some block. She was so concerned about me. Getting burn off or anything like that and that that's one of those plays jake. Elliott was a nobody right. then that's on. Say he was a bad person or anything like that. No one knew he was signed up the street. All these things. I got caught in training camp by the bengals even though they drafted him as a kicker which is not a rare occurrence in the nfl and he hits that they end up going. What they that's the beginning of a nine game win streak that game i. It's it's not as obvious in the moment. But in retrospect they they don't win that game. If doesn't make that kid right there. They're not gonna win the super bowl. And that seems like an oversimplification. But it's true. That game began that ron that gave them that team of feel because that's a game because eagles will running for a lot of the game and the giants came back and tied the game. Classy goes occurrence. That is a game for most of my life before that the eagles always lose what happened in two thousand seventeen. All the games of eagles usually lose they want and they won the not for that j. gaelic. Twist the fortunes of the team. That's you know was a catalyst for the run that was to come and jake elliott made acute huge field goal then made some huge field goals in the playoffs and the super bowl you know. He's he's kind of been a weird situation. Last year wasn't great. Contract is pretty bad. I did see mouth at dinner last night in philadelphia. Dan's anything to him. I can't be like weird like that by soy was out in about hopefully doing well. Hopefully he's ready for season that his twenty seventeen season. That's upcoming fall rather than what he did last year. We are on to number eighteen miracle at the meadowlands number two now in the iconic miracle the new meadowlands call for maurice and mike quick mike quick titles back game miracle the meadowlands number two. But that's a misnomer. That's not actually what it is. The miracle at the meadowlands number two happened in week. Seven of the two thousand three season. The eagles go in that game. Two and three. That was a rough situation that here. The end of three thousand three seasons they had lost tampa bay and the nfc championship game. The year prior laskey my veteran stadium beginning of two thousand three. They opened up lincoln financial field against that. Same buccaneers team in lose and then week to they play the patriots. Who end up going on to win the super bowl and then winning the super bowl the following year and they lose the patriots up to by everyone. Sky's falling and philadelphia. The sky's falling the bleep bleep. They beat the bills and week for a one week. Four and week four. They win in week five and losing week six. We're going in a week. Seven loss here and that really shakes things up the divisional game. Not gonna look at if they lose this. They're trailing ten to seven with less than two minutes. Left's and brian westbrook goes for an eighty four yard punt return touchdown a miraculous win hence the miracle at the meadowlands number two kind of forgotten. Note that i saw when i was looking up some some stuff out the game. Westbrook actually scored the first touchdown of the game of six yard touchdown around the first quarter. So you had to touch on the game. Eagles won fourteen ten everything. Everything was westward. The day obviously surrounding are giving up just ten points to great before by the defense in the special teams. You have to give props them. But brian westbrook carry that team to a victory that day. You know what they go into your two and three of the national making nfc championship game. That here it's huge divisional game and again one of those situations if they don't win that game maybe they don't even make the playoffs at all number seventeen we have here. The two thousand eight wildcard rounds at minnesota. That would be the second time in my life. The eagles beat the vikings in the playoffs. But not the last. And i'm sure you know we'll talk about that soon. Coming off forty four to six when the previous weekend. Obviously we're gonna talk about forty four to six on a little bit. Eagles went twenty six fourteen. We own minnesota yawn minnesota. That's simple by fair. play the game. It's one of my favorite eagles plays ever. I think that's why. I might via this game a little bit more than other eagles fans is really game. Asante samuel who i miss. I love the ball skills. They talk down the pre-draft ross. Andy cornerbacks defensive backs abbas ball skills. Symbol has a forty four yard pick six and as he's darting on the sidelines to various jackson to various jackson tar various jackson. I forget as the artist jackson. The vikings quarterback is kinda jog and trying to get in the way to kind of make a tackle.

Questions on Wuhan Lab Funding Must Be Answered

"I just happen to have standing by america's leading and favorite economist. Brian west brave. I trust portfolio brian. Good morning how are you you. I am excellent. it's turning into spring and summer everywhere. that's awesome. I just happened to follow a conversation. I just had with dr francis collins director of the nih about the funding of the wuhan institute of technology. And i'm not a scientist and i didn't stay at a holiday but if you give a grant to an organization are you giving a grant to everyone in the organization for all the research they are doing or can you segregate the funds effectively. Brian westbrook as an economist. In all my experience. I what i have learned is that you cannot beggar gate the funds. I'll just use one example definitely not as dangerous at least two health but in illinois We started a lottery and of millions of dollars every year that that was going to take it from people that were playing was supposed to pay for education. Well they they moved that money that education but they took away other money so in in the end Money is fungible. They spend it wherever they want. They promise all kinds of things but then when the doors are closed and no one's looking they do what they want.

Mahomes the rare quarterback with no weakness

"For the back on stage. Again for mahomes. It's quite a feat to be this good at this age. One imams teammate. Slave bell has only been with the chiefs a couple months clearly though. He's seen enough to determine that. Patrick mahomes could very well the the greatest player ever take a listen a great thing. More petty is. I never played these his first year. What are you gonna like popular. I think i was sitting out now. So i never played against bad but always of always washed on. I'm always thought he was like a great player. Then i came here. And then when i came here. That's when i really hit me like off like he might be the greatest player ever because the way practice. You know High goes about his business. People see the throws and things that have that he does in the game if things kind of like. I don't know there's like an accident but it's not he practices. It's so much like i wish. Obviously early practice unbelievable but my idea of thought. He's a ten before i came here now. These probably go twelve former offer running back. Brian west for joining us now brian. Good morning to you. Let me start with this. Eating people are rushing to crown. Patrick mahomes the next goat morning and you know this is going to be unpopular comment because i know we have the number one. She's saying in the world in nick right here but we are absolutely rushing to crown patch homes way too early but i understand why i understand. Why because he's had a great start to his career one of the best ever. We see the arm talent. We see all the special throws. But i want to remind you guys. Three guys bridge star drew brees and aaron rodgers. Three guys that have a combined three super bowls. Each one of those guys went to one and one thing that we want to talk about. Is that after. Each one of those guys won the super bowl. Everyone was saying they're going to be the next goat. They are the greatest of all time. They're going to go on a run. They're going to win. Multiple super bowls over and over and over. Brett farve actually made it to super bowl the next year in lost and that one so i think we have to be patient as far as how far we push these guys to saying that. They're the dote pack them host. Who has a long way to go and just to show that. I'm going to give you my top number one. Obviously tom brady ten super bowls being able to make the super bowl playing in his forties. That's amazing number. Two joe montana. Four for four in the super bowls they also achieved the rare feat of winning three in a row nineteen ninety there in the nfc championship game. He gets out by leonard. Marshall they won the super bowl that they would have won that game and then number for three. We talk about peyton manning. Mvp trophies and so we know how special peyton manning wasn't what he meant to our game. So i think we have to understand how much further patch mahomes has to go. But we have mentioned this as well if hashem aho's wins two more meaning this one and another one and then he goes on to shatter all of the passing and td record at that point. He enters the room with the conversation of the greatest of all time. At that point he inches that room. And then we say okay. Maybe it's not just about the super bowls. Maybe now we can look at the armed town. We can look at the mobility all the other things around. Just than just winning super bowls at that point when i look at it.

Aaron Rodgers -- Think I'll be back with Green Bay Packers, but there are no absolutes in NFL

"Here talking aaron rodgers and relationships one of those two things. I know a lot about. Actually i know a lot about relationships too so shortly after the packers lost the. Nfc title game. Roger said his future is a beautiful mystery member that well in case you didn't take a listen and see how he now evident yesterday on the fat macrey show guys futures. Uncertain myself included. That's what's sad about most getting this far obviously is going to be an end to it at some point whether we make this or not but just the uncertainties from the finality of it'll now obviously after the season that i had You know potentially when mvp and you know we made it another good run. I don't think there's any reason why wouldn't be back. But look i think there's. There's not many absolutes you know in this business so to to make an absolute statement about something that is not an absolute just i. I didn't do it. You know. And i i guess that's why i went kind of nuts amount. I like you don't like you. I want to stay mixed messages. They're pro running back. Brian westbrook is joining us. Brian good morning to you. Glad you're here because we want to know what you make of. Aaron rodgers mixed messages will. Good morning jenner. And if you would ask my wife she would say that. I'm the king of mixed messages. But in this case. I don't that this is a mixed message at all. I think this was two things number. One it was aaron rodgers. Who was the mvp. Lee taking a shot at organizationto and basically say hey. You got to draft quarterback last year. And look what i just did. I just had an mvp season. So that's the number one thing. The second thing is. I think this is a player afternoon. Emotional game losing an emotional game. Nc championship game and he was basically saying who's being open. He was being candid and he was talking from the heart in. I remember the last last three or four years of my career. And of course i'm not gonna go conversation where aaron rodgers. Certainly but my was always. I don't know what's going to happen next year. I'm under contract. But i don't know what's going to happen. The team may move on. They're certainly going to be different players on his team. And there was always a thought that things may not go the way that i want them to and i think this is all that we're seeing for mayor. Rogers and lastly. I think we have to consider this. Aaron rodgers was standing across the field for tom. Brady tom brady. That was in new england for twenty years that nobody thought would ever need. Everyone felt he would end his career in new england because of all the success. He's had but now. Tom brady has moved on twenty season to go to tampa bay and his enormous success. Just beat me on our home field. You have to be crazy to think that aaron rodgers not saying to myself. What if i was to go to another team and maybe have a different type of success. That i haven't been able to have here in green bay. I think aaron rodgers was feeling all those emotions and because of that. That's why a lot of people think gets mixed signal

"How's it, Ben? Yeah. I mean, I guess it depends. How you asked personally for me is it's not that big of a change, you know they have the Protocols that are in place. You know, I think they're doing a good job of trying to protect. You know everyone players, coaches, um, staff. I think they're doing a good job. You know the protocol in place, so You have done done A good job so far, but a zafar it affecting how we go about the another game Planning game week. I don't think it has that much of an effect on the players. Brian, what makes Alvin Kamara? So good man. He was just gone elusive happen. You know, it's kind of like these and they're just very gifted athletes and No, it's able to make plays in space and Elvan doesn't get tackled easily. So you know Back to just you know, he's a special athlete. Gifted athlete. How many times do you sit there and say, Wait a minute, Dude, You were just back here and I'm talking to journey game. You're just you're back here A minute ago. I thought you were going down. And how'd you want 10 yards downfield happens quite a bit. It's like he's just a rubber band Elastic, just bouncing off things and You know, it seems like every week he makes the places like Wow. Did he just do that? But you know, he's He's an impressive player. My conversation with states all pro left tackle Ryan Ram check earlier this week and again it was on Friday. So that was before everything really hit the fan regarding the Denver Broncos quarterback situation time now for straight talk sound by spiking my straight talk Wireless. Starting at quarterback today will be wide receiver Kendall and Hinton. He was once Quarterback for Dave. Close him at Wake Forest. Well, number one. He's really smart. He's got a lot of athletic intelligence. He's got. He's got some physical skills, I told a reporter yesterday. That the one thing that makes Kendall unique is Other than Brian Westbrook that I had it Villanova back in the mid nineties. I've never coached a player that could go lateral the vertical on one step and hit full speed quickly. As Kendall. He could make people miss You know he could break your ankles in space. I guess he's a competitive but the moment won't be too big. They talk wireless. No contract will compromise Broncos and Saints Game 23 hours from now, Titans and culture up next. This is game. "In the life of a person with a disability a little while back who is doing it really earlier than a lot of exactly Brian Westbrook former Philadelphia eagle joining us here on the safety blitz in look I mean you got you were one of those guys seventy eighty catches a year now everybody seems to be doing the happy to catch a ball to be drafted right the biggest body it does bring a smile to my face I was doing it because I had to do with that was that was the biggest part of my game try to get out there in space and find a way to to make people miss and then try to get some yards out that's the only way that I could help the office I wasn't running through people like Josh Jacobs does this point in his career and so I had to be able to get in space to make some people miss Ryan did I read something very interesting about you were you the first player in college football history to have a thousand yards rushing yeah and I thought that was your receipt yeah so my sophomore year things myself where you're calling wow thousand yards receiving thousand yards rushing and quite to be honest with you I had eight hundred fifty yards in return yards as well and so I came pretty close to being able to get the return yards as well four thousand yards so yeah it was at the time it was the only people have done it in in the history of football were Roger Craig in the NFL and myself in college you've been around Andy Reid you know Andy Reid why do so many players respect him and hold him in such high regard well I think N. B. is one of those guys is going to be honest coach he's going to be a god that you can respect and love he was never overly strict but he had rules and if you didn't abide by the rules he was going to discipline yet so he gave it a father figure type of thing that you need it the other part is that the great coaches in and UP sprays great coaches as well is that they're teaching about life as they teach you about football and so as you're watching it you're like you're saying I'm talking to my kids I'm saying the same things that Andy Reid told me on the football field I'm saying the same things to my children you know that some of the best coaches that I play for we're we're we're teaching me in the in the the training room and in the locker room and then that's the the the chalk talks and things like that it's sort of like you know any of the issues of the thing about it his son obviously unfortunately passed away because of drug overdose crazy situation I'm Madison's funeral Andy is standing beside the casket he's a septic people to say hello to everyone in hundreds of players went back to support eighty if you were all there to support him and I walk up to Andy and I'm my first question is are you OK do you need anything or you're right before I can even get that out of my mouth now he's again he's standing beside his son's casket right you don't just have such a great job on TV you know is there anything I can ever help you to do I can do that now this that is phones funeral that's the type of man that he is it every time I talk to him now he's always concerned about what he can do to help me as as a as a former player and so he has those same conversations with everybody all former players that he's coached and that's why it's so so so so special to so many of us I want you to play general manager okay we don't go back to your old team perfect off the eagles Carson look better now some other areas who you taking what's twenty first pick up taking wide receiver thus the the position that they're lacking they need explosion down the field they need big plays right now they have no one to get the big play down the field evidence could you see them potentially moving up and maybe trying to go get say.

"So it's not like if I hadn't been paid yet and I was a quarterback to throw the ball loyd times you're going to do this I'm like oh can we. Can we reconsider just for a chance for check. How do you think you ends up? What do you think happens? you think Andy Reid gets his first big one here. You're going to be happy as an ex expire for me. You think the niners are going to ruin it. I sure hope that Andy Reid is pies the ways to get it done to me. I I think they're more opportunities in the future. But there's no better other times that the president is so i. I think that the Kansas City chiefs find a way to get it done. But I'll say this as much as the forty niners run the ball. They scored as many points. If not more planes in the regular season than the Kansas City chiefs they know how to score the points. They also not a defendant in so because Kansas City chiefs have been a one trick pony offensively absolutely basically throwing the football running football throwing the football and when you get tired of throwing throwing some more at the San Francisco Forty niners go find a way to slow that down just just a bit then. They got a chance to win this game. And I certainly hope Andy Reid gets it but I can see the game going either way those kind of a cop out author. That wasn't no answer. That was kind of like a no answer here. Yeah that was a Roger Goodell. I honestly I feel as if the chiefs chiefs are GONNA win but everybody that I respect and appreciate the brains like nine nine. Nine years defense is going to be a problem for them so I was excited to hear what you had to say but then you gave me the same way. I feel like I gave you know answer. You know why because it's a Friday the week before the Super Bowl kept me next Friday. uh-huh I'm trying to do. I'm trying to get back on your show next. I have a game plan right here. It's all about getting the reps and so for me. It's been a great opportunity. I've enjoyed enjoyed it in an is kind of debate show and so we. Everyone has their opinion. Of how how they think things will go. Nick right believes that the Kansas City chiefs are the next thing next to God in the greatest show on turf. I think they're really really good. We'll see how it turns out in Super Bowl so I've enjoyed their show for sure. Well I'm happy. He took another rep with US brother. "Jonah's heartbreaking the commitment. Kobe showed to sport was inspiring to go through the pain gene and to finish a game like only he could inspired me to try to be better. Sometimes I would only go to games just to watch the clock down to the last two minutes knowing that we're about to witness. There's something special. Kobe always talked about. Vanessa is beautiful girls and how proud he was of them. Kobe's passion was his family in basketball. He was determined to inspire the next generation of the boys and girls to embrace the sport that he loved his legacy will live on my family's love and prayers. Go out to Vanessa and the girls to Kobe's basketball family and of course. The families of those who tragically lost within Kim yesterday at such a real thing everywhere Koby when he sold out he played against the Pacers. I wasn't watch strictly to watch Kobe. It was like at any given moment. He could flip a switch and it was on any given moment. The other team could accidentally pence him off and it was going to happen. We'll have our top koby moments here after the next break but I think the one that was most heart pressing pressing the reaction that was most heart pressing yesterday was from the big diesel. A man who was his teammate. For a long time a one together and there's a beef and arapahoe in drama and thankfully thankfully thankfully a massive re bonding between two men that I got and I think the world got to watch succeed on all levels levels. Shaq had this to say yesterday. There's no words to express the pain. I'm going through with this tragedy of losing my niece G. and my brother Kobe Bryant. I love love you and you will be missed. My condolences go out to the Bryant family and the families of the passengers on board. I'm sick right now now. I assume more oh reactions will continue to roll out. I think yesterday. What the San Antonio Spurs did yesterday with not letting the media and locker afterwards was very noble them there? There was some teams. That didn't do that Carmel. Carmelo Anthony was put in front of a camera yesterday in no situation they should now. There was the conversation should they cancel the games or not. I'm not sure if Kobe would want them to cancel games for him but I do believe that the locker room scrum after game should have been canceled. I mean Doc rivers haven't gone front of people who speak I mean that's part of the job but he's I don't even think he should have had to do it. I think there should have been a day to allow the players and coaches that are so closely connected to him in the NBA. Allow them to get a moment to get a breath the processes thing and then put out official statements on now. That's not the way the world world works. I guess in the media is deserving of getting answers from people about certain things but I think yesterday there's a lot of people putting unfair positions to give their response. We picked picked a few there that I very much enjoyed reading yesterday. Love hearing about. I'm sure more and more of them will come out and I can't wait to hear them. I can't wait to hear we're how the people that knew Koby best feel about this whole thing the stories that will continue to leak out about things the story about how how Koby said to Jimmy Kimmel. I believe that whenever he he'd be out in public fans come up and say hey you. MVP talking about Vanessa's wife. We need to have a boy you know to carry on Bryant legacy and basketball in Gino. Say No no no I got this. That's what I'm here for like as those stories. Continue to roll out not not only from old interviews that we haven't seen but also from friends tongue stories behind closed doors. I can't wait to learn more about this man. I cannot wait I am excited. I am pumped talked about it and I just wish that we would've been able to see what he would have done with the rest of his life. He was transitioning and such a beautiful. Oh fashion outspoken. Proud parent sitting on the sideline with his daughter talking game talking through things to behind the scenes work. He's doing with John. And the rest of the family winning an academy award all these things I was just pumped to see his brain focus on something else whenever get that. We won't get a chance. "San Francisco forty Niners and somebody who is preparing for said San Francisco forty Niners any rate I'm always like did you read he was on those that go to those those eagles teams I've always felt like when I was a kid the eagle for fun like make now was a lot of fun to watch Brian Westbrook was a great a great running back up a pass catching back he was an honors for a minute too at the back end of his career I really like Brian Westbrook I thought he was fun then T. O. goes over there yet the Hank Baskett thing you have try to get somebody that does or on that team anyway they had some it says a lot what was it is your name there yeah Freddie Mitchell Freddy Mitchell damaging Teo anyway those are some fun teams went to the NFC championship all the damn time all the time are they had some great rivalries with those those Tampa Bay Buccaneers teams in the early parts of the two thousand or to see Jon Gruden's Bucks team either beat them in the visual around a little I don't it may have been the NFC championship today knock them off to get to that Super Bowl out in San Diego again the raiders anyway Andy Reid I've always been fond of him he was also always just kind of harmless right like a lovable loser a gimmicky kind of offense a phone high octane offense but never won the big one well for him it all came down to to his roots right where he started coaching football and as a guy who went to this school San Francisco state who did not have a football team I would say that the kids aggressive stayed in and big kids probably around the country who go to a division to school they don't have all the major sports that is the one thing you're missing from a true college experience is not having the the big Saturday tail gate football experience you don't really get that at the smaller of the two schools that do not have these these teams so when you end up with a moment like this where a guy who used to coach at a football program at your school that does not exist anymore is coaching in the Superbowl this kind of a a fun moment sandy Reid yesterday in service media was asked how did the San Francisco State University the Gators over a nineteenth Avenue in San Francisco help mold you into the coach you are today yeah now is great I stayed on the way you for a couple years and then went to San Francisco state or for grown who was an older coach very very well respected in the country hello the college football coaches association it is a great teacher of coaches and players tremendous amount of experience and and so those great learning grounds for me and and you know personally as a coach and he gave me an opportunity to to work which I appreciated yeah pretty cool stuff manatee he started at San Francisco state plan at **** stadium which is not just just the soccer field the whole the whole Lotta graduations there and everything anyway just a cool man that he came out of there I think Holden was there too we should hire holder holder hired him I think add to address of state of course holding co teaching in the use of Lincoln high here in the city so pretty cool stuff more from Andy Reid now any sort of reflects on more stuff for San Francisco state this is pretty funny it was such a small school in such a small program that not only are you coaching football hero they're doing the fundraising for the programs yeah I mean I've come a long way from selling hot dogs they actually Allen gives me a couple after the game so I don't pay for but yeah no we we it was division to non scholarship program so great conference in northern California I conferences but a lot of coaches or players and great experience so you know it gave you that respect factor to worry are now he appreciate it you know take for granted and for being here you feel very privileged to be in this position it is crazy the kinds of into the places these coaches start when it's time to start as a grad assistant or film guide the route you take to being a coach not the same as that used to be like I feel like in the in the seventies eighties now probably eighties nineties just when I was growing up and even into the first part of this decade I guess we've just started a new decade in the first part of the century all say lot of it was about you know having been an assistant for a number of years especially the game of basketball or the game of football having played obviously takes you to different places but now you end up with guys were like video coordinators right you want to put these guys like house in and were holding the cable from her dad on the sideline during the Superbowl you know what guys like am like air exposure who was a video guy working in the video room and then Pat Riley gives him the nod and I mean hello users posted in the head coach of the of the the Miami Heat we're coming up on my twelve thirteen years or something right he's been around for a long time coaching that team so interesting stuff just passed you take now to become a full time head coach in either D. one or at the professional level and when I do I believe bill lost his first coaching job was a college cemeteries other hall of fame there so you know you got to start small that matter where he starts where you finish is also where it's also we're John Miller started broadcasting in a tale it was well shot out the other he were farmers that's what Chuck Miller what's before that somebody actually earlier when we were talking pizza said Hey I Hayward under rated pizza yes but a lot of time to a word I I mean the the call yesterday yesterday said it maybe was two days ago when we were talking cheese burgers and I said I think Hey we're not on a pizza Hey word though might have the best or the most electric Marino spots per capita of any city in the bay area I'm going with I'm talking quarter pound giant I'm talking vows burger talking Cecil's burgers I mean they are almost unrivaled I will say as far as Mexican food goes in maybe a parade or quesadilla goes Eduardo's talk three in a work one of my favorite spots in all of the bay area to get some Mexican food more from from a Andy Reid yesterday talking about I'm does the perception that you can't win a big one keep you up at night because so we're just saying I said boys love Dan to read because he was also kinda harmless right you go up against bill Belichick your family been blank diskette I don't have to deal with bill Belichick I want to deal with bill Parcells but your facing Alicante redo come from an area like this started his coaching career at a young age coaching in this city and he never really wins the big one you don't feel all that bad about having to go against them but any does it keep you what do you feel like this is a weight on your shoulders in any read for all the conference championships cannot get the job done I listen I high on life better than that doesn't tell yeah I don't want to win one of those may is America the minutes went that's what we do and the so you're here so I don't want that to be slighted but I also understand the perspective of life and there is my childhood I that doesn't mean I'm not going to work hard and coach are do all those things and comments way about their album drop in there this is America yeah I want an opportunity when one this is America for many read people check it out of the cast pre tax on all five one I'm I'm I'm with you here five one "Say this reporter, what does he know about how you security? Well, that's not words. Reporters words do Jimmy Choo. But you shouldn't carry yourself champion shooting. Channa? Do you have to win? Do you have to write that made you change when you got suppo? I think you're misinterpreting what I'm saying. What I'm saying is even if the majority of this is unfair or even if the majority of this is untrue. If encore some went, and I'm saying somebody somewhere it whether it's one guy or half dozen guys said this about me, what about it. Do. I just totally disregard. What about it? Do I say, okay. So in that article when they said there was a veteran player that come tried to talk to me like Brian Westbrook's talked about yesterday, and I acknowledge him is that something I do do I need to have a more of an open ear, even if even if most of it is, of course, I have a big ego. That's how I got here from North Dakota state. Of course, I'm selfish. That's that's what ninety eight percent of pro athletes are so I don't think this has to be a negative is specially because so many guys have come on the record saying Carson is our guy. But I also think it's something Carson can grow from even if only part of it. Even only ten percent of it really resonates within my question. And maybe you guys can answer this. We pretty much assume that it was the wide receivers that spoke out or whoever don't guys I said that too. I assumed it was either Sean Jeffrey or someone else that it wasn't getting the wall. It wasn't that Gertz. We know that for sure how does that not split a locker room? I mean, if we know that my point is that Carson Wentz not much into this locker room thinking, there's some type of is like this really fine, balancing, everything get a bunch of crazy guys. Okay. Well, I don't think it was shown Jeffries, and I'm not going to say who I think it is. Because it's not fair to them. You have a lot of function dysfunction within NFL locker room that is normal. Right. They got a job to do as a wide receiver. I got a job to do. Carson Wentz is the quarterback of the future to me. The number one thing is not that Carson Wentz looks at the article and reads about the number one thing is Carson Winston get better as a quarterback, right? He isn't a critical gear this year to pass where he. Couldn't finish it up. This was a critical year for him to me. That's what we should be talking about how much better does. He get releasing the ball how much better does he get in reading pass covers how much better does he get as far as protecting his body? Those are the things I think will be long lasting. And we'll be the subject matter as we move on compared to these other talking points of had a veteran guy come up to me. And I didn't listen to him. I don't think those things are really relevant to clarify. I wasn't saying it was shown jerem just shouldn't. It's not a name that just did come up. What we? Well, I think there's a couple of things here within a locker room. There's always like, Chris there's five guys that are touched that, you know, they're touched. And you got a nurture, you know, I mean, it's just the way every locker room is. And then on top of that there's always guys in there that you're not gonna pick out curtains with their certain guys in the locker room that I'm not like, I'm not hanging out with you. You know, I respect us a football player or spec user man as long as you do your job, and you go out there and you ball, we're good and we don't have a conflict, but we don't. Yeah. We're not going to hang out the it's not part of what we're gonna do. So that's that's part of the I think with Carson Wentz anytime you come often injuries. Significant is injury. Is there is a there's a growth process of learning..

"Up to your retirement while with medical advances. I mean that mazing article this last week talking about people that are born in the next two or three years. They may see medical advances in their lifetime that we as human species could live a long long time one hundred twenty one hundred twenty think about that. And that's only going to get more and more. Now, some people may say I don't want to be feel like ninety. I was spring chicken. I feel like I'm ninety two but we are living longer. Jeff. I mean, this just go back in the last fifty years. We're living much longer now than we have in the past. So you gotta you gotta have money, and we plan for that too. So that's why it's not just about the investments. The investments are big part of it. But we do have at Cologne, desperate, the streamlined retirement process. So we look at all aspects of your planning, and that's so important because it is the investments are big part of it. But it's not the only part. We'll look at your goals what you're trying to accomplish lie dentist strikes. A lot of times when we see people. They think they missed the downturn in the market. They don't have wills and trust. But they said wait a second. There are a lot of things that you're doing right. So identify the traits will look at your weaknesses, and then we'll make a recommendation as to how overcome the weaknesses that you have. So it's all part of the process will do the cash flow analysis that Joe talked about earlier, we'll take a look at your investments will also take a look at the estate planning long-term care. What are types of things that could. Derail a successful retirement plan met medical could could be one of absolute it's not just the investment part of it. It's other things taxes, you could get creamed and taxes. If you don't plan properly, you could miss out on opportunities with regard to taxes if you don't do Roth conversions as an example as a tax taxman overall. Ben good. It's overall been good for investors. All yeah. Yes. Definitely. Because of a lower tax rates companies are making more money. As long as corporate profits are good. And that's why they think that this rally could be extended for years into the future. Yeah. Interesting stuff. Jeff. You don't just focus on a 4._0._1._K plan at the coal investment. Could be do you mentioned wills trusts. We've had a state planning attorneys as cash over there as many times, it's about everything in encompass serving your wealth. Once if accumulates in love, how do you preserve it? So it's about all that not just the investments, but taxes estate planning long-term care along with the cash flow along with the investments, you said go ahead, you I was going to make another point communication is really key. That's why we get together with our clients on a regular basis to go over all of these items especially in times with this market volatility. We wanna talk to our clients and make sure they're okay, they might just need to have a conversation and for they might just need our help to put things in perspective. We talked to several clients these last few weeks that we're feeling a little nervous. Call us entirely through it. Nothing wrong with feeling I I we look at our stuff every day because we're in this business, and I get emotional. We. All get emotional about looking at her stuff and saying oh my gosh. Look at where my balances everywhere, you go now, not just restaurants and bars. There's a flat screen was something on CNN is at the airports. Fox News on behind you. I'm looking at right now, there's always a Fox News alert. It's like the world is coming to an end up. The Dow numbers, and we focus on that more. So than ever before settled saying that goes, if Italy if it bleeds it leads. The the boy scout leading lady across the street does make headlines, but if it's if she gets hit by a car, it's going to be the front the front page. So if it's so again, good news. Brian Westbrook was talking about seven hundred tariffs that were dropped by China. You never heard about that. Oh my God. They dropped those on products to sell to the US. So Trump stand on China is having an impact. But you'll never know that they're never going to credit him with that. You'll never hear the story that right because that's good news. Well, there's a lot of neat stuff that Trump does with the troops that if you really know what that really needs never makes a new never makes the news like giving a salary. Another thing. We forget about quickly is remember what happened last year in two thousand seventeen we had an unbelievable year. Right. Forget about that very quickly. Oh, yeah. We we were up every month. Positives the S and P five hundred was positive every single month that hasn't happened in ninety years. And I'm not sitting nor the news don't to now, FOX or whatever you watch you need to be aware. "Larson show. I welcome back to the LARs Larson show. Glad to be with you. Yes. We're talking about Donald Trump on the wall and all kinds of other things. But I like to talk tech. And the man we talked with is the man who you can find at Brian Westbrook's spelled away. It sounds dot com. And he joins us now. I envy Brian during this week because he gets to go to the consumer electronic show, and I don't I've never been and I'd like to go down there and do a broadcast sometime, but they might they might look at me when I walk in the door and say you're going to do radio is radio round. Is that still thing these days is that the way they react to you think Brian to radio? Yeah. Absolutely. They totally crazy when you say you work in radio because nobody at C E S, and we don't call it the Consumer Electronics Show, and nobody down there actually calls it. The calls the calls CBS anymore. It's officially just not the consumer electronics say, and I want to clarify. I'm not actually down in Vegas. I'm able to recover it remotely because the technology is just that good now. So that's how conventions are gonna go. Now. Nobody's actually go to conventions anymore. You'll just be a virtual avatar little walk around the show. Well, there are a lot of robots on the show floor at. So maybe I can just send my Samsung my under robot down there to check everything out for me. It'll certainly save the wear and tear on the soles of my feet. I'll be less exhausted. Am I can cover more grandma? I'll tell you what I'm not. I'm going to the shot show here in a couple of weeks. That's a shooting hunting outdoor trade show big industry show. I will never do that one in virtual form. I wanna go there. I want to actually pick up guns. Our actually look at bullets. I wanna talk to veterans, but tell me one of the exciting things that are coming out of the CIs a couple of really cool things that I've noticed out of CAS that are pretty slick and my friends at geekwire dot com or down there actually checking things out, of course. There's a robot that folds laundry that's pretty innovative. It's a thousand bucks. You don't get too excited. And here's my problem with LARs, you can't just hand ask it, you can't just candidate a basket of laundry and an old the laundry you actually have to spoon feed one shirt at a time. I might as well just fold the clothes. I was excited that I could just like somehow dump it out of my dryer into this robot have perfectly folded closed the his time. But that's definitely not the case. And here's the other wacky thing. I saw there, you know, the voice assistance. The Alexa, Google we've talked about that a number of times on this particular show, but they actually created a tunnel of love style roller coaster ride at CBS. I've tweeted the link at Brian Westbrook. Can you believe this a it's a small world type experience built into the Las Vegas convention center outside the main halls you can actually board a car? It looks like you're low road, the finger-pointing of rollercoaster, I need my Amazon Google assistance paid for me today. I think and you can actually go through this track. And it tells you all about the cool things that Google assistant can do. Of course, he's companies spend a lot of money to exhibit to the thousands of people that are there and more importantly, the bigger audience bring with them. So see he s while. It's something that's extremely exhausting. It's a long week. I've covered it probably ten out of the last twelve years. I kind of enjoying taking a little bit of a break. And watching it from afar, I can imagine. I wanna ask you about our friend. Jeff bezos. I don't know the guy, but I occasionally order things Amazon. So does my wife it's very handy. That's my dog in the fight. But now, Jeff Bezos and his wife are splitting up isn't this? The man who's worth a hundred and twenty five billion dollars and splitting from his wife and he lives in a community property state anywhere from one hundred twenty five to one hundred fifty depending on the estimates. And of course, the value of Amazon stock twenty-five years later, they issued in a statement saying if we had known we would be separate after twenty five years, we would do it. All again, many on social media are pointing out two things number one. That's active, romantic, it's very romantic. They're saying that it's a the the best fit their breakup sounds better than many marriages that we can hear of. And also you. Mackenzie Basil's may become one of the ritziest females out there now because she does stand to split a number of a large percentage of that. Now, of course, being the community property state. I live in Washington not too far from Jeff Bezos. I will say that there's a really good chance, and they're not releasing these details, and it'll be a while before the divorce papers are are filed and we can sort of dig into the nitty gritty, but it's very likely that they've worked out some sort of settlement where she may not walk away with quite half vent, but couples split for various reasons in it's definitely a big talker on social media, imagine this what if she said, oh, I don't need sixty two and a half million dollar house subtle for fifty billion dollars. I'd settle for fifty three. Well, and it's interesting that this is a couple has been around for twenty five years. And when they got when they first got married. I would imagine that that there was no pre-nup proposed by one or the other because they didn't know where Jeff Bezos then nonexistent company. It didn't exist. Twenty five years. It didn't they they actually there are some stories about the company in as it was created that they created the business plan for Amazon on the drive from New York to Seattle that she was there. She worked in the company she actually wrote a defensive a book a number of years ago that slammed Basil's in Amazon, and she said I've been in the warehouse I worked through Christmases I've done this with him helping him build this who she was definitely least in the early years very involved. He's shifting his focus as we saw with Bill Gates to a lot of philanthropic efforts. He just have a couple of weeks ago actually earlier this year announced his day one philanthropic fund. She is said to be involved in that. So we'll see how that transitions and how how they work together post break. But at least what we're hearing out of this initial announcement is that it's an amicable split. And then after twenty five years, they're deciding to divorce now, I want to ask something a little this is slightly off color, but not terribly. Off-color evolves. Ceos. There's a young lady who's a navy veteran. You know honors for her military service who was an who worked with engineers at a major university to come up with a new form of let's say personal vibrator, especially aimed at women. And apparently see yes, we're going to give you an innovation award. And then she got down there. And they said not only are we not going to give you a ward. But we're not even let you exhibit your product here because we have all these conditions in our agreement that say, we can't have anything that's off color. Well, she pointed out that they already have a number of exhibitors who have products that are on these sort of adult side of things and she's pushing back against this. I'm wondering if you've got a perspective on that. Well, two things I'll just say. And I I'm not totally familiar with this story. I will say that. I it somewhat controversial that you give them an award. This is the robotic massage her an honorary designation in the robotics. And drones. Category. This innovation awards, honestly, in my opinion are a bit rubbish. They're designed to get you to the show right day. They are designed to get you to the show, and they're designed to get exhibitors and sponsors in the show. They're not necessarily the most objective of awards. And so what's the harm in awarding something that is otherwise innovative to this exhibit? I I'm sorry navy veteran or not if it's an innovative product. In the navy veteran because I liked that in her background. Just like to throw the well sh well because I. Good. Thanks for your service. But now she's come up with this personal vibrator aimed at women. And it's apparently as they say a hands free device. Okay. Yeah. I mean, there are lots of opportunities. And now now CAS is giving her the bum's rush because they say, we can't have it. And she's she already she's responded by saying, well, you've got all these other products include one including one made by a company called naughty America and just use your magic nation on that. Why are you letting them in? If you're not gonna let me in bars. I want to say real quick there is an adult entertainment expo adjacent to see for a number of years. And if you wanna see a funny sight watch all the tech bloggers finished workday. And went over to the adult show in the sands expo hall. That was that was always the highlight of my week watching. Of course, I said TV, and they let me write in. But it was hilarious watching everybody clamor tip over themselves for prime look forward to the day when those robots can run around the floor of CAS, and there won't be any people there that just be all robots and you'll be one of them, and you'll be having your information that way, Brian. We're going to tell people that they can find what you right at Brian Westford dot com, and we always appreciate your insights on technology. Thanks very much coming up America has become a split country of red and blue states. Can we.

Turns out it'll be a hot Cowboys team led by a quarterback in Prescott with a ton of confidence right now on a running back Ezekiel Elliott who's been great all season. In fact, this game could come down to a battle of the two best running backs in the NFL with Zeke and Todd Gurley and head coach, Sean McVeigh says they've got a lot in common these two when you think he's similar Todd one of the most complete backs in the league extremely productive. I think he'd got the ability to go through you or go around you with speed we've gotten a lot more involved in the past game this year. I think he's truly a complete back, and you could see that, you know, a lot of what they do is predicated on just him getting a bunch of touches..
