We got about two three minutes Give us a little update. We haven't spoken since the fall and The the program and the opportunities obviously coming out of Coming out of the cove effective year. That that really touched everybody From eerie to the ben salem Talk about Looking back at the year and surviving essentially. Yeah i mean. The stallion farms did a fantastic job during It you know making sure that that You know everyone was safe as as they. You know i'd say mayors in for for breeding and you know quite frankly The you know. I didn't I wasn't sure i how you know. How the What's going to go but it actually went quite well. you know one of the things that that we also Uh talked about was The governor's proposal to take money from the resource development. Trust fund which which did not happen as you know. We put that funding in trust in two thousand seventeen and you know the backing behind. Not touching that on Really was Was fantastic legislature. So i wanted people to understand that Because the first thing they think about it all the money be there. Because we're you know we're looking to to You know three years down the road for years in a row before your radio network and You know it You know knock on wood. Everything went Went well money was not touch during that period and hopefully people will understand that. We're going to do what we can do. And make sure that you know that money goes where it's supposed to two breeding racing in pennsylvania and when we when we talked about it and when we had tommy thompson on the you know the the concern just the headlines. The was enough to you. Know to make people worry and In terms of mayors bread one one does that report when do we. When do we hear those numbers well. The mayor's bred mares bred was port came out and we were up You know we're up again I think it was approximately five percent so again for You know fourth straight year. We've been up Proximity You know since seventeen Approximately fifty some up in pennsylvania when the rest of the country is approximately fifteen percent. Dow so I you know. I can thank you. No thank those breeders for hanging in there and You know bringing their mayors and You know and and breeding to in pennsylvania so Again like. "We have Stallions from Five different state Nice nice contingent from pennsylvania And you definitely want to take a look at those pennsylvania Horses because of the fact that the breeder awards are so lucrative He raised that horse in pennsylvania Yeah you're talking fifty percent breeder award for maiden races first through third and forty percent for all others If you If you don't breathe to a pa style you you still have twenty five percent per year awards For main races and Twenty percent for all there's so It's a great program and it's a great way to start off by getting a good deal on a season. Well and you know one thing that from year to year people may forget just because it's the pennsylvania Horse breeders association i. It's not as as brian just referenced. It's not just pennsylvania stallions you've got new york represented in here and maryland kentucky There's lots choose from and for those. That might have missed out on the on the way you might have gone. There might be any number actually of of crossovers that you made a play for On friday at the auction and get price the price out and come back and take a look here because there's not just the the single season there's a few of the stallions that have got multiple seasons and we should feature that sky kingdom at darby. Dan you got the chances of three seasons Smarty others smarty jones seasons so it's not limited to one up count charlie brown who's been really a a story that that needs more attention from limited opportunities throw nothing but runners Warriors reward has got a pair as well at widow so This is a list that that really should be reviewed. There's you know there's names on here that Is going on that really going to surprise you that you know some first year stallions at all these different venues. Yep definitely definitely take a look At the at the auction Like i said You're ready to roll in In twenty twenty one No better way than get a good deal on on the sale also also just like to bring up the fact that if you're buying a mayor in foal right now at the keeneland sale you have fourteen days to bring that mayor into pennsylvania. Drop that mayor in pa and be eligible for the pa program. So Another good way to get involved in boy. That's a timely. How about i i. I did not know that that Because usually mayor residency is typically much longer. Right it's usually a ninety day period or soap. so that's a fascinating little sidebar. Yup yup usually at the be. The mayor has to be in estate state by december first. Yeah but but You know if you bring her in the within fourteen days a sale after december first and And she falls in She'll be eligible for the program. It should also note that You know in some cases a lot of cases with the stallion seasons their nonguarantee. But as it happens you've got quite a few on this roster that that you know is a live foal condition as opposed to a non guarantee season. Yep yep we try to get as many as you know as we can That are Live phones but You know some of the Some of the sanctions on their you know the the higher priced. Ian's get a life full well. The candy rides Candy ride on this list and that of that ilk You know you understand but Some some most of seemingly all the pennsylvania stallions are live fall. We talked to mark cassie earlier today. Air force is on this list. Echo is training and breeding this kind of skimming down command post that win oaks. Live foal Greatest cat at quest royal and We've got. I've got a nice courageous cat. We got minute. Mouse and crown of thorns equa star. These are both live foal Going down here. Who else we got. Four billion up at my computer. Just got golden lead. Also nice little golden lab action nice. Here's majestic city at irish hill and duchess view. And this is this really is a nice list going up and down lanes. The lanes then was very generous with you too Liam's map mineshaft is a quite a quite a bit to mr speaker Darby dan end lanes in both the with a hatful of of their stallions. Absolutely lanes end and some of the other ones have been really great to us over the years as far as the seasons are are concerned so you know we've You know we. We developed You know relationship with a lot of kentucky farms and And it works for both of us and as you mentioned we'll watch for always dreaming to be added. And you mentioned that you just added golden land clamp down here for darby dan honor code honore p gift. Box lanes end is mentioned mile. Really nice. this is. This is a is a midshipman There's there's a lot to consider in here and starting tomorrow and midnight or actually tonight at midnight and going through monday so we'll remind people Going into The weekend and then of course next monday as well. Yep i just like to remind everyone that you know if you're getting non-guaranteed season You can.

"That there will be a lot of support for a fifty cent pick six to twelve percent take out. Which is what. Sam houston is going to be doing starting on thursday when racing zoos and yeah i mean i think there's an actually houston like churchill as you were saying the price point on the on the structure of the jackpot that it has twelve percent take out and thirteen percent went to carry over so basically was a twenty three and a half twenty four percent effective takeout and of course what that means is that the carryover grow slowly right in the places. That are doing jackpot. That's that that are really handling big money. Their defective takeout is in the neighborhood of sixty seventy percent and even gulfstream's is close to fifty. That's the carryover pool gross so much and so my hope with with the naira. I actually just learned this morning that they did not pay out the pick. Six in month of january twenty twenty so. The comparison year to year is going to be apple to apple. Now as the carry over pod grew the handle also grew but it kind of tapered off later in january so the comparison is going to be fair. It did not pay out until the second week in february in twenty twenty it also handled two and a half million dollars that day. So that's the thing to remember that these jackpots are always going to have a huge cool When when they're paid out you know the things you remember about that is that that pool is going to be made up of money. That is not the money that made the carryover grow. And that's difficult for the re regular player whether they're somewhat serious or even recreational overall the neck quick Thoughts about the two nights. Friday as well. The support from the public outstanding. I mean it's it's good to see hundred thousand dollar. Pick four pick five pools sam. Houston i know that that franken staff. Chris did a great job with marketing. And getting the word out and Two and a half million dollars on opening night ten houston. I'd have to ask frank. But i i i wanna say i think that's the most they've had this century so going all the way back to you know. Meet us open in november But that's a really really strong number really good racing the first couple of nights and the next three cards all look good. The the britain resume on thursday. So yeah i mean it's all leading towards That january thirty first date with the houston. Ladies classic and the john connolly on the same program i think things are things are looking like. They're going to be very very strong. Houston and houston in the middle of a tremendous meet in two thousand twenty before the pandemic railway. I think it would have kind of been the early season. Standard for handle increases handle was up. I wanna take thirty percent similar to what it was up They've up even more through the first couple of nights. But yeah i think it's gonna continue that direction and i encourage people looking for a nighttime signal to to take a good hard look at it. There's not a whole lot going on that time of night especially later on wants to flee and you'll get good opportunity. Thursdays are going to be very interesting. I would think because they're gonna sort of be the first of the the night tracks with the four o'clock local start and that's going to get them a little bit in front of turf way. And i think what what frank was looking forward to try and fit into the niche that sin anita would have had if they were racing on thursdays so hopefully We'll get some southern california support as well so should be should continue to be a very funny well and we'll feature Will feature analysis much like we did with. Indiana will attack that The thursday slot as well each week. The meat at sam houston s. Hrp sam houston race park and nick. I appreciate The the monday visit and we'll we'll talk Later in the week of course Forty mentioned that we got a big fairgrounds. And if you've had this saturday at fairgrounds but that's crazy it's going to be a very good day racing and the weather is going to cooperate. So feels like feels like we're really this. This was the weekend that kind of thing gets the wheels in motion and starting to you know starting to train starting to pull out of the station for twenty twenty one lead exactly and dam and ta m m one two one five nick tomorrow. Everybody will talk to nick later in the week right. Now we've got about fifteen minutes to close out the morning and we'll get to fill d'amato tomorrow and of course anti certainly will join us as well but It didn't get to fill today. I feel bad song tamar the and obviously we'll have day one of the sale which is now forty five minutes into the four day run. Brian san fratello us from the pennsylvania. Horse breeders and brian happy new year. Happy new year to you. Steve unlikely to act up and running right got to you. "The two three and four one off the the choices and half the entry felt like either the entry like they could be competitive. What are the things that went on. Was that The one plane got it very very good ride. I slept some work to do it. Fell to me is the night were on. The rail was bad. There were a few horses that spent a significant amount of time on the inside and ended up. Tiring one of them vegas guy One of them was onomatopoeia. Who i liked him. The ninth and just had no punch whatsoever trying to come through on the inside and basically every winner was kind of an outside rally or as the night were on. So that's something. I'll take a look at it and obviously we'll let everybody know what my conclusions are But so this was a sequence where you know the mrs anecdotal on my part is not studied it. I've even asked anybody looks kind of information. The biggest price you had was in the first leg. I've always believed that. It's it's less significant. Have a big price in the first leg in terms of payoffs than any other because so many people want to get out of that first leg and simply being alive and so i think there are more opportunities for people to go deeper than in there than there really are anywhere else so you know you look at the breeders cup this year right. I know five different people who had to pick four because they use all in the mile it was the first like you know and and maybe that's simply just as i said. Maybe that's anecdotal. Maybe that's something that can't be but isn't concrete but still. I don't think he could go all the way. Being in the third or fourth leg would have. I think it would've actually made a even less likely horse to be on tickets then within being in the first leg so this was a sequence where you needed to take what looked like a relatively competitive race on paper. Go as deep as you could he issued for. Somebody like me would have been if i didn't use could go all the way at all but if you had used him as a backup you needed to be right and five consecutive legs or if you like them may be good enough to be a be then. You need to have four as win in a row which i was reasonable for most people and then have the the entry in the nightcap is at least if you were playing to be tickets so it was a very very tough result and And look you're rewarded handsomely if you were able to connect on it but It was you know it was a fun sequence. And and i'm hopeful.

"You're gonna get great information. On the telecast about track biases and things like that But it's gonna be a good opportunity for you to start to get a little bit more involved in structuring tickets and seeing how you wanna play sequences and then of course you have pick five gonna pick four to back you up if you somehow get knocked out of the pick six. It's from a low price point. It has a low low takeout so to speak for a pick six so that that's a good opportunity. And these are the kind of vets that we need to be putting our money into to show track management and you know the industry in general that yeah there is you know they may not be a ton of it there is some price sensitivity and there is some attention paid to kind of pools that really benefit us most being involved. And i'm glad you brought the the ecuador portion in because you you had a little mini thread where you know. You had a back to back Post about it. Yesterday i got distracted. And i meant to re circulate it. So i'm glad you included that in the conversation Because obviously you tony alvarado and the team or going to evaluate you. Know the the approach going forward based on how they do with it here. These next three weeks In the early returns are are positive. And i maintain with sam houston starting thursday going to a standard pick sex no more jackpot starting thursday and a very aggressive pricing. The there's there's every reason the sense that There's a pendulum swing going away from the jackpot concept. I'm sure that stronach contracts will will continue with it because they you know they. They crafted it and have had six. You know big success with it And that's understandable that they that they'll maintain it but You know those that that kinda got in. I'm anxious to see where churchill's thoughts are in the spring because churchill actually Hasn't gotten enough credit for. They have one but their pricing structure is very different than everybody else's and they. It's not as usery. It's not it's not structured as as oppressively as most of the others but i think I think the pendulum is coming back in the other direction. Let's talk about that sam. Houston portion and You know these first. Two nights of of racing. Nick came off very well. The force out on saturday people right away of sure were feeling you know like they. They took a took a coke bottle to the head With the longest shot on the board Go all the way. I i know that jessica made a case For this one going long on the turf that that he had something that you could you could use as a foundation for backing him. I went back. And i just didn't really see it. The horse in the nightcap. That paid thirty one. I could much more easily. Make a case for heavenly rhythm at the end but talk about what we saw at. Sam houston on saturday night. Yeah and was. It was basically that it was a couple of price horses. What was otherwise a pretty forceful sequence and I mean he could go all the way who was thirty to one of the morning line. I mean hunting kind of underlying He seems very very hard to find. And i think it's not so much because you couldn't find some things to like about that particular horse but you know it felt like the majority of the time that race was run. It was going to be one by one of the six. And then they sort of inexplicably get involved in pay stool and the one obviously family issues which we talked about a little bit on friday And so he you know he could pitch elated readily the three sixteenths poll and six was done as well from being on the chase. You know one thing about sam used in turf especially early in the need is that I mean even though the weather is is very moderate here. It's it's.

"You are. You're swimming with sharks and you're also generally dealing with big fields competitive rates and things like that so structuring tickets and pick sixes can be very very difficult but I think one of the things that makes you a better pick five players when you write your numbers down and you take a look at what you wanna do the sequence you have to look back and make sure that you're you're doing the right thing in terms of approaching what could become chaotic you know. Do you have something clever on your tickets. If you don't and you feel confident in it then you need to bet your ticket for more right. I mean if you're generally that are one dollars player and you feel like there might be an opportunity for you to go to buy one by two by three by one. And he's talking about twelve dollars. You may want to put that in two or three dollars more. Well well and and riff on that for a second neck. And maybe if you wanna on if you want well we'll save the sam houston for next the The differentiate between spending more. And and i appreciate you know how you how you couched the pick six portion of the discussion. But i came away feeling like instead of spending sixty e i personally i probably needed to spend one hundred and twenty to one hundred and fifty if i was going to seriously attack that the gulfstream pick sex and that has never been. I preferred approach and and i really at the same time. Can't hold myself back from putting in the you know the the modest budget ticket thinking. And seth merrin. I've discussed this a million times. You know Seth scott the you know small ticket idea that when i'm right on It's going to pay for any time. I've missed a. I'm in the i'm in the camp that says i. I wanna take a swing at this. But i'm not. I'm just not going to spend hundreds. And i see plenty of people that that take the approach where they're spending hundreds even on fiqh fours and fives in some cases and there are occasions where that pays off and people are getting five digit scores ten thousand and above and and you know mid five figure hits spending you know two hundred three fifty five and six hundred i to me to me. I can't even if i had unlimited budget i would. I don't think i would do that. And i just at the same time you get frustrated thinking to yourself you know you. You wouldn't hurt to throw another sixty eighty dollars at this and you would have really given yourself at least the best chance to it. Yeah and a lot of that is gonna come down to trial and error. You know they're going to be sequences. Where you you bad and you think to yourself boy. If i bet a little bit more i would have hit for more. It's not always that simple right. I mean it's not. I know the there was a tremendous amount of fineness. The jockey club. Sam houston for one of the guys in there who bet a pick six every day in new york and he spent between two and eight dollars and so somebody said one day boy if we just each gave joe twenty bucks and let him put it into the pick six then he'd probably win left and right and i said you sure about that. Because now he's going to become a much he's gonna become a lazier handicapper and he's going to say well. I got more money to spend. So i'm just gonna use more horse and he's probably gonna win at about the same rate but obviously he's gonna make a smaller profit and so that's the concern. Is that are you. You know where you betting are. Are you spending more money. Because you simply want more coverage because if you're doing that than if you're a mid range budget type of player you probably should be sitting out right. You should be looking for sequences that.

"Looking at looking at tim houston next. The gulfstream one was. It was a lot of sensible and logical horses that you could easily have had. You could easily have used every one of them. If you're kind of an abc tickets structure believer But not had them on the right thing ticket because that was. That's where you have to balance out the backups. With the main exactly and that. That's what got tricky. And i and it's funny the horse the horse for me that That it was actually two different places. Where we're using this for me. Was the pick five. Pick six i. I simply didn't spend enough. I had all the horses identify. That wasn't the issue But the In the six races three of the winters were on my pecking. Order were fourth choices and there are circumstances where you might be able to craft a play that you know that that has that many fourth choices on the same ticket. But you know that that's it's like a billiard shot citrus burst. It was a horse. That i i really especially at the at the morning line price. I thought you know. Here's a horse that that has got the ability to win here. And i made I made him a and that decision ends up costing the pick five and the pick five eight four thousand. And i hit the hit the pick for nick for seven hundred dollars and and i'm glad and it made the day worthwhile but i mean a forty two hundred for that pick five at the. Have everybody easily identified. And i i you know i just i really was kicking myself and one at and that includes a backup ticket. Where at one point. I had had a comet as my second choice behind kasa creed and shunted him back You know in the in the pecking order. And that you know either him or citrus burst needed to be a and Instead of a c one or the other and in fact if they're both you know if i somehow get them both the right in terms of preference Hit the thing twice you know. Suddenly it's eight thousand. I mean i these are you know these are. You can assuage yourself by saying well i hit the you know you got six hundred and change and you paid for the day but now that doesn't not not when you leave not when you leave forty two hundred on the table when you absolutely you know had all the is dotted t.'s. Crossed the in. You just didn't follow through. Yeah i think the best thing. I could say to describe that was i remember sitting with tommy masses at a contest at gulfstream and i it hit a trip back the and i said boy if the four course of gotten third this thing would have paid so much more but i guess i can't complain because at least i hit and he said nonsense. I'm a pig. I want it all what you ask. You gotta figure out exactly.

He ended up going on to win the arlington million the next year. And you know turned out to be a perfectly fine. Tur- wars there was no expectation is going to be able to run on dirt so crazy crazy crazy resolve and and i think that no big part of it was inside on that track that day good. Yes and that's certainly helped these along didn't necessarily help anybody who finished underneath them but it definitely carry cash run beautiful pleasure our tax to an extent but boy what would we give that old gulfstream oval and great back in the backyard. Well ninety nine that breeders cup also marks Memorable from mike cohen down. My i live experience as part of carolina. Barbecue was came at came at that. Breeders go so that was good they we're talking we we should. We be brought up ninety nine because yesterday was the twenty first anniversary of the pilot episode of the sopranos. How well you never know you never know what whacking this is going to invade the conversation. Good job i love nick. I wanted i wanted you. I reached out because the three the three multi race sequences that had force outs. Friday and saturday Friday night turf way. We talked about actually with ed and They had the pick five races one through five and that was a forty seven hundred dollar result with a six joyce a favorite a seventh choice a favourite an second choice seventeen sixty four forty four hundred forty perr utes just boots home prices and then four sixty nine forty and so if you were able to find you know the to tricky horses to find in that sequence but it was really Saturday and did back to back in the afternoon. The gulfstream sequence and then the sam houston The last of the jackpot space city six and two very good starting Nights for sam. Houston two and a half million. Both friday and saturday Let's let's touch on on these sequences neck. I dunno where if you wanna do. Sam houston or or the gulfstream action but You know gulfstream paid fourteen thousand six hundred had over five million bed into it and the this was very reachable. It was a little bit of a ticket building. Exercise by this was eminently hit Third choice second choice. Fifth choice third choice favorite and second choice and it paid fourteen six. Yeah yeah you know. And i think that i think one of the keys to it is.

"Race until the jockey club gold cup. And that was when albert degrade wired the field and albuquerque was a very very good horse very. I think under a pre under appreciated horse. I think the three year old that year in two thousand were better from top to bottom Food safety pegasus aside. And so that was you know. There's no surprise by the year. The end of the year that they had caught up to the be elders if not surpass them a bit was was there. Was there a stranger. Breeders cup classic. Then that ninety nine that kathy wins at twenty one. No definitely not in fact. I remember that breeders cup was you know i. It was the first time the phillies turf was run and And it was actually the closest. Christopher lamont has come to winning a race he lost of course to Twelve to the jimmy toner name. I can't remember right now. Soaring softly And then you know there were some other really big horry chevette fan so i was pleased with our tax and beautiful pleasure and day seemed like it was making so much. Then you had one good horse after another winning unease was the only upset and then that was by far and away. I think. I mean i think in a way probably vote. Pony are kong obviously is the gold standard. But we'll tony was somewhat shocking. Breeders cup winner but cats each given the way he had run in a couple of races leading into that breeders cup with improbable a winter. As i think you might have tried. I agree and and for those that. If you wanna see a chart i that was just astounding. Kathy wins by like that. A quarter at nineteen sixty two one. Bud royal was second For ted west at twenty six fifty one golden missile was third at seventy five to one and chester house was fourth at sixty three to one. After a bad start to and came flying and the dollar super it was listed as six hundred ninety. Two thousand a the try. The two dollar try was thirty. Nine thousand it was. Let me tell you if anybody out there. Hit my hats off to him. That was That was absolutely insane..

"At his third and that kind of was. Lost a little bit and and came came what? Another stride away from a from getting passed on Dale. He should have been second. He got a sawed off in the first turn lost position he really. A trip I thought Adam did a great job navigating through all that because he he was, you know instant trouble or race, and still I get back up and and finish strong. So I was very, very happy camp as well. So and lay out in fact, lay out plans for for both by my standards and and the two coming out of a Friday. By my standards will train him up to the classes point scraped there you know silver does is always bring. He's always. Ripe Wear and I. Think we'll point towards the biggest cup, mile the dirt mile and trying to do that. So I think that's kind of a plan with both those Mister big news you know I I, think the pregnancy, the possibility. Any filed a couple weeks he came out of the good. obviously, as you can tell, he ran already we're tired but it looks really good. Health is white good. And we'll see I changed over the next couple of leagues. It's not like a normal calm yet today quick decisions you got the status two weeks More Time Devaluate The absolutely and I think there's going to be a lot of movement. In fact for those that haven't had a chance to you know to see what? The potential preakness field looks like it's bulky I think right now there's a list of you know many as thirteen So I think we're you know we do have today of course, the tests. Yoke Seo Winter. Gets. In, and From Laurel, the fact is a very good car laura today with the bunch of stakes good racing everywhere and. Before, we talk about what else lies ahead Brett Want to ask you about. the the one disappointed I think from the weekend In the path day I, I was looking. I was looking for. What's his name? Digital. Thank you. You. Feel a lot like we I mean. We had. Talked about that race readily it's it's a little bit mind-boggling. Given the former any better than I really don't have any answers as of today he he couldn't have trained better going into it. are really was being topless. Going into that race and and I don't I don't have any explanation. For what I would consider a little bit of a subpar rose for. Well they all can't they all can't exceed expectation when when you when you finish third in a derby and first and third in the Alley Sheva. There's going to be The. Here and there there's GonNa be a little bit of a disappointment and I guess I should mention too because you had that had the allowance winner with the Everybody every time anybody talks about elmer. They they say what an awful name it is but You had eight. No Elmer's win that allowance early in the week. Really. Nice Philly I i. I think sometimes he sorts winner early she down thirty two aces and honestly I don't know. She was ever really learn launch just destroyed two fields I, two days and I don't think you really learn out of race. and. Then she comes up to her x ray she goes to turns it Oakland Against Demean speech so I don't know how that was. And You know I think at this point she had to learn right? Out of. The bags. Traffic and and when she was talking tied into I think it's been I think the it at Ellis on turf race. Before this you could tell she take a step forward mentally she sat there and finished against older horses she but she's beating the half length or something I thought the very positive mood Gordon. She got she was starting to learn how to settle relax. In in in company in there against the in a battle come back with the allowance race, the other day and she got beautiful trip and then a lot of complex out of that race. So we we've always been pretty. Nice. Nice well, you can I, guess. I'm GONNA guess that Something at Keeneland. I think. So you know. You're keeping all options open with. obviously At some point time, we can continue to improve mainly Scott somewhere but right now Allowance. Options around. Well and. As we wrap up I guess I should ask you about what else is going on on on some of the other strings. It was pretty tough to you pay attention to anything other than the other than Churchill the last few days and little bit of Del. Mar. and and Saratoga. But you've got as usual. You've got spread around Louisiana and Remington and I'm gonNA, guess there's probably still some some two year olds yet to come somewhere. Both in Kentucky and and through the southeast. We've got. We've got to something. About going to see for a while horses we paid We always pay quite a bit buddy. Probably be bothered to be good three year olds that we really haven't done a lot with them so far. trying to backed off and coming up in a little bit. There's some pretty good prospects in the barn we feel we'd probably never not to fall. Back. Sometimes, we bombed to those horses get to this stage a submarine. We're we're starting to get impatient but. because you kind of what we we bought him to be later in longer two year olds, and hopefully we'll have some replacements for the first Saturday in late next year. Exactly well. that. fastly ran. Okay On on Saturday early in the card in that made where that. Three year old Bayden race. Right, I really haven't figured everything out with him yet I'm not sure how far wants to go and and what service and all that yet. But he ran alright He's probably trained a little better than the morning did he has run the afternoons so force I think he's still a little bit of a work in progress and probably a little bit of his is me figuring out where where the pudding but you know he's GonNa put together say. Nice well, the Brat was looking forward to this between by my standards and mister big news the. Terrific performances to make for a special weekend for Justice Thomas and his family they he's been such a great addition to the ownership landscape and his outspoken. Support of Lasix we've referenced repeatedly. That.

"I got back and wanted to be here. Home and frankly wanted to. Make a special effort. To. Be here for our last starts of. This era Toga season that that didn't work out so well but. Absorbing everything that went on. From the time we got off the air at noon on Friday and into today opening day at Kentucky downs. A- the. The cards today between Saratoga Closing Day del Mark Closing Day and Kentucky downs kicking off a it's just too much and then there's the matter of US recapping Derby and oaks and the great one philly raises yesterday including. More controversy the the. Yeah, there was so much. But how do you not start with the the granddaddy of the Mall The mother of all. Ten for longer once. The Derby result. Which? Should be. Under. Most Scenarios should be. Satisfying and Thrilling and everything else seems to just. Put Long what What has been A year that. Doesn't relent. and. The fact that that authentic won the race. Exactly the the only way you would have thought he was going to win it. At. That that should you know stand on its own merits and? I don't see. Clearly, said this yesterday with south we did TV and the. The slight edge just the slightest slightest. Nuance in Tis, the law. Just. Not having that same edge sharpness that we saw. Four weeks earlier. The ten furlongs with just enough to the to dull him a little bit certainly tag is said the time between races and everything he certainly trained well coming in and the two of them. Just they ran I mean there there's no other. There's no other story. There were three horses. That really. seemed. Like they could win the there was the overwhelming favourite. There was honorary pay the top three choices honore AP. Who didn't start well and well but Race was. Made that much more difficult by the start. and. Authentic. Those were the three horses th th there's not. There's not a lot of. CAUSE FOR ANY ANY CONSTERNATION You had and they finished one, two and four. I mean. It was really. One of the results if you drew race up and on Friday, the one of the first conversations we had was with Travis stone and travis sets up the race on paper. So that he can anticipate. The way the. The race flows. And The first question. Going in was how? Has Art collector not being able to run and Kim Guillermo coming out wh what does this mean to the pace and the answer was It's going to be easier for authentic front and that's and that's exactly what happened. IT IT'S In fact, yesterday. As I was kind of chewing through in watching the replay and breaking out know the the way people ran. It. It was really. Simply a matter of the two best horses. Out there. Going faster aliens slow late I mean they crawled home I I don't know if I guess this has been lost on people with the with the. The the the meam about re-broken. Let's go through this twenty, two and four. To open up a thought Atlantic and then you know the the idea that Johnny wrote him hard to get Johnny didn't write him hard his natural speed. Put Him. Right in position out there the the open air box where the air is fresh and clear, twenty, two and four, twenty, three, and three. So he went a little slower in the second quarter than in the first, then twenty three and four about the same but a little slower and then the mile. Quarter twenty, four and four. So they're slowing down considerably and then the final quarter. Twenty, five and three. So. Authentic Going wire-to-wire went forty, six two for the first half mile and then fifty into for the last half mile. I three quarters in one ten in one. Last three quarters in one, fourteen and one. So I I'd like to know I'd like to know when exactly as he was slowing down. He was as he was slowing down considerably and as was. tis The law chasing him home. And nobody else. Other than the terrific effort. of Mr Big news to be third in here and I can't wait to talk to Brett Kowloon and And we will because what a great weekend for Chester Thomas. By my standards wins the Alley Sheba. And then Mr, big news a late addition to the Derby field. Finishes third. Just, a tremendous weekend for Chester, Thomas, but the two top finishers th that was the race. Let's be honest. and. Nobody else in a really at any point. particularly. Looked like they were they were challenging. And it came down to the two of them and. The off the turn. There was a moment of course where you thought all right Tis. The law is going to pounce on him here and he's going to go by and and he's GonNa. You know I it looks like it looked like he was going to go by and win easy and. That that, that wobble when he wavered a little bit. That that looked like you know the the. The the indication that that he was. Just not as as..

"Prince lucky who's very good that's an interesting race also looking forward to the Awad there's a Colt named yesterday who looked pretty good now cowpokes so even if you get McAfee all home let's say is the third choice that four to one is is it real so you're gonNA play for two one in the Maltese especially if a favorite wins around them probably not so raith order is key here the announcing on Wednesday and looking at the races around it and if you think you can get twenty thirty fifty dollar horse then yeah us off three because why get beat if you have a strong opinion on price but if you're finding yourself narrow around the juvenile I think it's almost worth picking the one you like suspend and gambling a little bit you allow yourself a chance at it a bigger payday well we'll we'll do it all next week with the Ruin James and before we talk about any place today and the weekend Ed lay out the coverage at twin spires into prison were the we brought back are handicapping package this year that's something we've heard from people that Kinda hey you know by a bunch of stuff it's the Breeders Cup and looking for a little break on that so encouraged people to check that out it's twenty buck who's the pre entries include the car PP's and one thing we added if you're does this time because it's it's typically been free but I just made the push at the office Steve What Kelly Reilly does with her International Scouting Report I think is is on par with what Peter Carey do with their patterns of motion analysis the worksheet puts into a and I have no shame in hiding dollar value that if people feel that worth the information which I fooled we do we're encouraging people to to buy the product this year so that will be available but it is for sale but it is part of the handicapping package so if you're getting a P P anyway you can still get her report as part of that and if you WanNa Allah car it'll be ten bucks and it's available on Monday but Kelly is is an oracle when it comes to international racing and not only the European racing but how it fits with the Americans which is really how you're wagering next week at the Breeders Cup it's how they fit with these runner than really looking forward to what she's putting together next week and hopefully people will check it out no doubt that the ten dollars well-spent given the the depth now of of the European participation when you're talking you know when you're talking about four races on Saturday and three on on Friday yeah I would say that she's a good writer and researcher so it's solid let's turn to some action any anything today before we Saturday yeah yeah I know we'll get the best of Ohio tomorrow but I do have to say today I really liked what Fox in the ninth race stepping up to allowance company after two three claiming races but it just seemed like forces is finally going in the right direction seemed to have some buzz as a two year olds the at Saratoga has been tinkered with being a few different trainers and now you've got a guy who really sharp off the claim so a lot of positive signs for me I doubt we'll get eight to one just too good a form right now but don't think she'll be the favorite and I'm honored big time in the in the ninth thirteen Monday let's start the Saturday you mentioned gust of Ohio and my knew that it would be a resistible and in fact at the top of the show Rod Paige Lucci blue-chip the the the undisputed King of Ohio Well Tim Ham I think they'd they'd have to have a jousting match but the name I'm drawing a blank on but was six to one on the morning line who I thought looked interesting training oppress style and then shows up on debut here rather than and you know high oh so take a long look at that one today acumen for for ten but yeah mahoning opens today best of Ohio tomorrow the pick four is racist five six seven and eight so race exits the sprint now. Pc Mile probably the most likely winner all all day anywhere You know I always Kinda I don't mean to be blue when I say this but it's one of those situations you worry if if the horse didn't win so pick for might be dicey to play with such a big favor but I do like a couple of crisis in the lake double the best especially has that sort of pattern where either went on the front end or you come from the cloud it's it's just not the type of place where the the middle moves excellent how about how about some keeneland you got you got the the two races maybe as part of the cross country the quicken the two year old races which are racist foreign five Moonlit Mission handled the stretch out last time that's number eight the company as well at ten o'clock down the stretch I'll talk to you Monday at Santa Anita.

"A lot with behind her in that race and she's come back and win one stake since then Oh that was a very tough live legitimate grade one delve are oaks that hit message comes out of and she really did run well to be second She was a list stakes winner at sandown back in July so she's here she's a and this is a Philly that again I I won't say she's slumming that's not really fair but I would expected them to maybe look at the Huey to Kaitlin obviously Simon decided to keep her here but good philly and good draw Pratt rides her back and she's the one to beat a number of other nights vilis in here as well that are maybe great two types but hidden messages looks to me like you're she's a she's really something that we're GonNa hear about again a daughter got daddy she's GonNa be phillies it's going to be heard from in big time races next year you know who's being heard from on a regular basis and I'd like your opinion of when to bad him he's Oh for the meet right now but Jonathan Wong has making his way he's the latest Golden Gate and going Back Bay meadows the the most recent Bay area trainer to make the four eight down to southern California how do you approach Jonathan and his runners that he sends down the golden gate he wins everything let's face it I mean he he I think he's what he what he does he look he's a good trainer he works hard and all that ah what he gets a lot of southern California shippers that guys just want to unload so he gets a chance to run them cheap and he was a lot of races that way which is good now he has not had anywhere near the same excess shipping down here now that might be a function of tougher circuit it also might be a function of training up golden gate fields on the all weather and then coming down here in wedding in the very deep tracks of del Mar and Santa Anita he doesn't really have the the quality horses that he can run on grass so he stuck one of the most the horse was on the dirt and it's tough and I think he's kind of learning what to do and how to get horses ready to run them down here I can't run a shorter I down here and you know he's claiming trainer so therefore claiming usually don't train them very hard because they wanna say they're claiming North for the afternoon so I think he's is a good trainer I think he's adjusting but his win percentage of north is close to thirty percent in down here it's not even half that so I'm watching I still think he's a good trainer I'll go back and forth by like with their you know with their place but up north it's almost a no brainer here you you really have to evaluate his horses it seems like she could be okay keeper of the stars I'm going to expect that that five to one action we floats north she's GonNa you know try to win on the front end and you know there there is some there is some other pressure I guess the goddess is going to go for sheriffs there isn't a ton though of of you know on the on the engine phillies here no and this is a a very fast philly midnight lute who actually ran very well in the Del Moro for self she didn't get the lead that day and she's still hung onto before beaten three lengths over a mile and this is a mile so keeper of the Stars is definitely dangerous if she gets loose on lead and they don't Sharon she's she can get that half mile and in West than you know forty seven or forty seven or will be Lisa big change she might be tough to catch I I saw her race up north one very nicely she got hooked him in turn and she shook off the you know the pace presser which obviously is not the same quality that she's going to be here and you know I mean she's a Nice Philly she's very nicely Jerry Holland over had her play that situation dictated that keeper of stars was moved with different Barnes Jonathan picked her up and yeah she's definitely a threat if she can get loose And muccio unusual who I shine to for Timmy Octane speaking of Billy Ball muccio unusual in here as well very nice and tried to go a mile and an eighth gets back to what might be her preferred trip and she's tactical and and at six to one that that's that's why like lands chief to for to vanity on this course and this is a unique of course in a sense because very Glib very fast running on a pool table top and she you have to be able to quicken and accelerate especially in a big field and she does have that ability he has to prove that she's quite up to this level I thought that maybe she was just a tad in the del Mar oaks and a great one but Again when you and your tim you figure okay that's fine we'll go to a great we'll drop down to a great three that's her level and then all of a sudden hit message shows up so again it's it's tough it but she'll she'll she'll lay your body down to mutuel unusual always does she always gives everything she has as does Jeff Siegel Jeff before we go is tomorrow the day for Stretford and who really feels like a career maiden Khalid aw was cut out to be an eyesore has run into plenty of Nice ones along the way including improbable right in his debut who he lost to the neck is he ever going to break his maiden is he ever going to break his maiden yeah I I think somewhere that on the road he's GonNa Bring me and I you know whether or not you know but it's he's one thing I'll say with them you know he he seems he tries hard you know and and he seems like he tries hard but he just can't seem to close seal the deal so I'm not sure if he's a gamble anymore for me I've tried them enough to know that I'm not sure whether he can be the good worth or not whether I asked the beat when you know in the race I'm not sure but don't be win one eventually let's put it that way it's exactly certainly you know I I love how Khalid shod names all the all the occur a lot of sources with the soccer connections that's what Old Trafford is so I I I claim shy he's put a lot into the game and this one I don't know I don't know if it's tomorrow because soldier boy for Sadler looks Look stuff jeff anything else again he keeneland Andy Belmont and eating your is very much interested in things maximum security wants tomorrow and the ruler I they're taking the path of least resistance which I think is a bad thing I wish he was out here he's not ready I guess that's what the talent but he's running against older horses and pretty good graded stakes maybe he could've been out here doing something either in the spread of the Mile But WanNa see how he performs that's a he's tackling we'll see if that's going to impact them or not is that the rail and the bowl and he's got a pretty salty horse on the outside and older I am out he runs on the graph even though he's got a dirt pedigree so maybe do time he'll do that and of course if cumin and the fat kind of curious to see Mr Freeze shake loose inside Dragen amount as a member of his winning the West Virginia Derby just blew my mind and he never really ran back to that but it looks like he's rounding back in that top four Dale Romans and if he can get loose in Sidra killing going he might be able to steal that right so good racing tomorrow kind of like the calm before the storm warm Get our feet wet dead we go to work that's going to be fun without a doubt Jeff I will see you as early as Sunday at Santa Anita and either way we'll be together at some point during the week I'll be broadcasting from clockers quarter good luck this weekend it is a very good card tomorrow and have than the actual really really ratchet up and the intensity next week thanks Jeff Siegel everybody derosier standing by and we'll get to Ed right now Ed Good Morning I'm here there we go good morning how are you excellent excellent been busy and we'll get right to it first of all you're pre-entry reactions I try not to get too far ahead of the Horse I'm definitely a proponent of waiting for the final draw just the manner how a handicap and everything in the actual program order but this is the first year I can remember in a while Steve that I'm pretty excited about again obvious favorites and I've learned the hard way at times as a public handicapper Connections of these horses can can take that personally and it certainly no disrespect to accomplish forces like midnight visa and Omaha beach the I'm GonNa play again in stem to win but at the expected prices in the races they chose to enter I just don't see either is that much of a standout of so those are two racism really targeting is typically a horizontal player that I think I'm going to have to get involved in the verticals but I have my favorites too sister Charlie of course price gets aided by magical likely tackling her in the mirror and the classic I think we'll see ladder aboard as we've seen a while in that race with you know couple choices that people are going to lean to McKinsey et Cetera but plenty of other option ends if you WANNA get creative so there's some places to access or Charlie I can't imagine won't be the one I lean on those but I really think my wagering going to center around I'm beating those two favorites I mentioned earlier I get it I'm hearing a lot of that in the there's GonNa be there's GonNa be unity Kafi is going to be you know there's going to be anti kaffee there's GonNa be I I know that the dentist is moment situation is different but I'm sure they'll be people that are going to try to figure out a way to go elsewhere to me it seems like the two principals and the two as in the to be players they're they're pretty close I you know I love what's your what's your take far and the juvenile's one of those races you sort of struggle with for me as a horizontal player because I feel like you can cover it with three this is eight rings Dennis's moment Max field like one of them loses in my mind US wrong but it's apparent mutual game and a lot of people are playing that way.

"The winter But you're gonNA run against this group of Horse type it was like Anna Kit and the rest of these you would rather do it the state after the second level allowance so it's a good race it it's it makes an otherwise moderate Friday program look pretty interesting let's look at Saturday get a couple of opinions and they talk about the autumn and the Second Jeff Siegel with us Jay Siegel racing on twitter and of course XP TV Dot Com the fourth race. I want to bring the race up mostly first time starters you do have sheriffs with a a serious player in here the Honor Code Cold they're going six and a half thunder code at this is out of the Nice Tarlo and and certainly you know with with two races under the belt and and having been beaten by American Theorem and then second to great power in the last the last dry at the end of September but there's some really notable babies in here baffert unveils the al-baas thousand words who was a million dollar yearling at Kaylynn last year the pioneer the Nile out of Pomeroy pistol herself was a multiple graded stakes winner how about the half a million dollar Friars Road for Michael McCarthy it's funny bread by Bob WanNA LOW BUT PURCHASED BY Mr Warren and his wife so in the familiar pink silks this is got the makings of a heady and important maiden race we I mean there's a number of really promising colts in the fourth rate here on Saturday great promise you never know what these maiden races sometimes they come up with one horse it can run and sometimes they come up with three or four this one is a you got the undercoat as you mentioned eight thousand words thousand words he drives the outside post which is good a million dollars really pioneered the now he's on everything right in the morning looks like a really quality called us to be in the morning when the track was fast that these these are the kind of horse that would work in fifty eight and two and went eleven chain with Bob doesn't do that anymore it's deep act I mean he does have a forty six four work back in late September so he has been allowed to you know to to run on in the morning pretty pretty good but bothers God way with this idea of wanting and having to win first time out he does that unbelievably well forty one percent but I train them quite as hard as he used to thinking that they're probably going to need one anyway so I'm not sure how a hundred percent cranked up thousands awards is going to be us two to one in the morning line for a reason couple of other nights colts in here that are making their debuts Mike McCarthy's got a couple of them that have been training well friars road in Russia they've been running together actually virus wrote a quality road colts Russia's limbs map cold so I'm both are beautifully Brad Russia's the cheaper of the two the only route seventy thousand in the two year olds sale but he pretty quick cold I think he's a little quicker than friars road at least that's what I've seen in the morning so I think those are two coats we're going to be intriguing for me BAFFERT's got another Colt in there a half a million dollars two year old and training purchase named Roy odd that's a Colt by twirling candy who's done some good work as well so it all it's very interesting race I think down the road thousand words is going to be the best of the group I'll see if he's ready to win right off the bat other wise experienced my pay offer under code and again had those two runs and you an ice cold themselves let's dive into the autumn best the great three go on a flat mile and there are more three-year-old restricted philly turf races this country maybe that any other division it's unbelievable it's like every week around the country it seems that there's a three year old filly turf race well this is a great three but it looks like the great to or even a great one great one but it's it's it's got a great one philly in it for sure in hidden message and this goes as a seven Tomorrow at Santa Anita the auto miss great three it's only one hundred thousand dollars and I say only because places around the country you're gonNA maidens for Nine Andy but this is a good race hidden message show very good second in the del Mar Oaks Inter US debut for Simon Callaghan finishing very very well behind Hamby Your Park who was we know a great one feeling for sure and Lady Frances a lot with behind her in that race and she's come back and win one stake since then Oh that was a very tough live legitimate grade one delve are oaks that hit message comes out of and she really did run well to be second She was a list stakes winner at sandown back in July so she's here she's a and this is a Philly that.

"Old races for Pennsylvania breads and you know the picking a program and and picking a place to race we we say you know horses follow money and aura role keeps his train movement as best we can and I want I'm going to pull up the list at for those that haven't visited those out this year with the brighter you're you're brighter stable Monica I I can't I I saw maybe maybe not I thought I saw worse and the money is you know I it's it is both as somebody that's bread just got the one horse the wheat bread in New York bread it you know but you you still carry the mayor for the year while they're Info decisions and jeff good morning good morning how you Steve Good I've got how many replays have you watched since last week a lot of it's five preparing for the Super Bowl here you got a week or two to prepare and you know when Swansea get to the game you better be ready so now the good time to to all the all the research and watching all the videos the workouts replaced I mean you can read the form and you can get an idea of what you think you might Mike but then you have to actually see the video and then you can kind of verify your initial impression or maybe change your mind and that's the fun part of preparing for this the situation that all the races in the two days festival and and the Gambler the ports player you you go in there thinking that you want to be as prepared as you can what are some of your initial impressions of the pre entry race well I I haven't really gotten quite into the euro as yet that's something I'll do once I figure out who gets entered you know I was I was a little surprised that we didn't have a little bit more strength in that Ah in all the divisions I I may change my mind once I do the research but I thought that the like for example the turf I thought we'd get a little better representation from Europe than we did in that the mile looks pretty pretty good I think circus maximus is going to be tough to beat in that race but no he's not the very best that they have I it's hard to tell about the the two year old grass races until I you know get the video and start living in that was a disappointing but I thought we you know the thing about this this year is we we don't really have marquee performer to hang our hat on which is on the one end it's a little disappointing in the other hand it's we will hey let's make one that let's find one and of course horse of the year still up in up for grabs we can always grab onto that if you're if you're covering the sport if you're if you're interested in sports and that's something you can look forward to as well ask you as a regular and long established watcher of conditions out there how are you oh you adjusting to and how are you going to approach the way this main track is in terms of how slow it is and we talked about it already since the beginning of the meat how're you gonNA factor that in to the main track races and horses that are going to ship in basically the top of the races well I'm going to be very suspect about horses that don't have at least a race or a workout over the track it's not so much that they need it although I do think they would benefit from it because as you point out this is a very deep and tiring track now I believe it is safe I honestly do believe that but it it's GonNa take some getting used to if you're if you're a trainer because you don't really know how you have to have your horse to run especially in the instance racist so I think I you know I wanNA be approaching nine won't say I'll demand that a race over track or work out but I'm sure going to aimed towards horses that have had that benefit and that's why I think that trainers working ship in and run on the dirt grass is different obviously but if you went on the dirt you know I it's GonNa be tough you're I think you're putting your horse into a little bit of a disadvantage I I would tend to agree and the fact that Steve Asmussen got in early Dale Romans in relatively early Dallas Stuart it has stayed there with seeking the soul after the del Mar try and race at Santa Anita and I I just think you know getting over surface in a it it just it's gotta be a positive that you know horses are out there every day on it yeah it might be for example you got here she's been here almost a month you know and So that that I mean obviously Steve is is you know he wants to make sure that everything all you know all the check the box checked and she's been breathing here so I mean not necessarily needs the edge but she hasn't if it's important so one of several I yeah now you know you look at some of the other sources that come out here and and not only train here but you know even had race I think that's important as well and you know I'm thinking about even in the sprint you know I don't know whether he's going to be good enough a chance lot had a nice effort it over the sandy desperate sprint championship back in early October and he he ran like a horse that really would benefit from having an outing I think that lasts Furlong Kinda got to him but he won't have that excuse if he's ever going to be able to win a race like this is going to be under these conditions so I I'm looking forward to to you know who isolating those horses and then figuring out what I would I want to go with them or not well speaking a witch because we didn't talk last week what was your action to Mandela opting for the dirt mile with Omaha beach well initially I was surprised because when you're going a mile on this track relatively short run of the clubhouse turn and you know you're always putting your horse in a position of maybe getting stuck way out and then maybe even losing your best a chance for the race season starts you know and the springtime he had just sprinted he he didn't have to do any more than what he just did over the track around a quarter I knew that was gonna be out because it was just no way he could have ready to go a mile and a quarter on this track off that one sprint but I do think it retrofit in fact I understand why they're doing it they kind of figured out that maybe the mile might not be as difficult as contentious as the sprint and I think that they're probably right I mean some totally is going to be in the Branston you got a few others in there that are are really good in the mile you know I ZIP field and I mean there's some nice horses in there for sure I mean yeah you look at the some of the contenders but I don't think if you're the people who are behind Omaha Beach I don't think you really have to worry about anybody other than yourself I mean if Omaha Beach I watched them trained since his comeback win and it looks fine to me I mean in fact he looks better than he looked before Senate is spring championship other than the last work which with sharpened forty six right before the race but I'm looking at this feeling this looks to me like yeah you know something I think they did the right thing and I think you know especially since it's a natural springboard from the sprints the mile you certainly can go to turns we know that's not going to be an issue and then the field may not be such an outside both with bothering even if he got one so I think they did the right thing and it's something that I would not have done it now I look back they're smarter than I am because I think they made the right call and they walking about following up Breeders Cup with a Malibu run and then the stretch out to a mile and an eighth in the Pegasus as as a three race string for for Omaha beach so we'll we'll we'll leave it Richard Mandell very capable ads uh-huh thinking I'd like to win this race and I'd like to win Malibu and I'd like to win the bag of if I do that you'll be retired so that's it the motions on that I know that he's scheduled to go to start but it's not etched in stone that he has to be retired Mrs four year old season and really when you you look at it I like that I mean you'd certainly like to see him fulfilling racing potential and train on as a four year old as opposed support the plug if he does finish out in the flourished but it's business you know and I kinda see it but I remember when when Richard getting into mischief and he was just starting to get good as a four year old and retired him and I scratched my head on that and I said what are they doing that for I mean you know well I mean why don't we go through that he's incredible stacking again they made the right they made the right call on that one but it would have been nice to see an image of train on and that would be nice to see in Omaha beach do the same if a chance if he finishes out you know this is his career as the connections are hoping that he he will well we we'll save the serious and intense Breeders Cup conversation with Jeff for next week in the meantime XP TV DOT COM all the for all the analysis Jeff and Zoe and millie ball all the videos you could possibly want under each heading of the fourteen races you can watch the horses work just it's all there for you and take advantage let's Jeff in the meantime turn our attention toward the weekend and we'll talk about Saturday in a second terrific autumn mist there is a race today it's just a force field but it has a couple of horses that that I've won I've liked From the start of her career Gary Sherlock with the half a million dollar earnings show at the cow bread she's he's really been consistent and and nice and I see that sheriff springs back hard not to love in this spot and this one I immediate ability earlier in the year and then had a good four or five months off the hard spun Philly and I'm not even getting to the favorite Etiquette for Bob Baffert. Yeah this is the seventh race today at Santa Anita it's a pretty salty to other than rant and only five going you mentioned some of the main contenders including Antica came off a layoff during the ninety six Byron Number winning a first level allowance and that's a steak number and she she's actually undefeated because she won her debut very impressively last December then was fifty cents on the dollar and a first level allowance going al like she was going to be an oak type philly being pioneer the now and she's stumbled badly at the start lost the writer and then disappeared for about nine months came back earlier this month and one of very good allowance rates and I can't even believe that she wasn't favored in the ratings actually five to to A. and just gallops comes back relatively quick in nineteen days which kind of surprises me it's not usually Bob Style but she did have a breezy today's so obviously she's doing well and she is four to five in the morning line now hard not to love one refers to start she's a hard spun Philly John Sheriff's train was a distant third means a flight back in early May she was favourite that day I've obviously something happened to her that day she didn't break that well and they stopped on her she's training really well for her comeback and then you've mentioned showing mode is really hard knocking Cowbridge Philly who've made close to a half a million dollars She was fourth woman. last time out and then another Philly who's I think pretty good and it's a mixture really I don't think she's quite up to this level yet but not a vessel a lightly raced into mischief Philly that's never been worse than second in five starts and a little slower on the speed figures in the other but she's been training really well as well this is a two other than how sprint I mean there there are three hundred dollars dollar states that aren't just stop so we'll see what happens today and a good seven three feature they had Fanta thing that's interesting looking at the at this group and to go back to hard not to love for second because I'm a little surprised that I guess off the layoff John Sheriff says the has to bring her back a little bit at a time but this is a Philly that certainly they've got it expect to stretch out this is the half sister to wonder good yeah no I mean that's that was the plan and you know I mean I think they did that every right I mean they started out sprinting and she did that and they stretched her up stretched out but they moved her up to six and a half to one that and seven eighths and a steak and then that was You know she obviously got hurt in that race I you know and then there's always grass iheart spun philly options there and I think with John did is he said look I'm going to be -servative we've given her some time we'll bring her back runner in the second level allowance how tough and then we'll we'll get we'll stretch out of del Mar and then into.

"Brian Good Morning Komo how you doing excellent and you know the we talk a lot we talk a lot about the regional programs and Maryland millions last week and they got the Ohio people this week and you know go back to the end of the Press Kyle season we had the two year old and Pennsylvania obviously people are taking advantage of the opportunity to to race in Pennsylvania and drop their foles absolutely and as you know the great news it came out this week is that Pennsylvania's up twelve point five percent in mayors red when I look at the number because I did a a you know report myself of say how come we're only twelve point five percent well there was a is a mix up with the uptown Charlie Brown I looked at him he had one mayor Brady actually had seventy three Mares Brit and they straightened that out there apparent elitist mix up the jockey club so that was straightened out yesterday so be add his seventy two on there we're actually twenty four percent over over last year and actually I think we're we're probably going to be up a little bit more net whenever he says everything said and done but you're right I mean Optical are are are GonNa go where the program is the is is the best and I think one of the most important the things is the collaboration we have with the horsemen groups at at the retraction Pennsylvania you know they they're very good about helping Pennsylvania program and You know we paid out over thirty million dollars eight years in a row looks like we're going to be had that number again this year so a lot of good things happening NPA the advantage for those that you know the track this kind of information and it's ebbs and flows I mean there's there's programs that a that have had trouble all you have to do is look at New Jersey and whenever there's uncertainty mayor owners breeders whether they're breeding to race or breeding commercially. They're going to go where they can plan ahead and nobody wants uncertainty and ah that that really has been the continuity and there were some there were some concerns about the the money that that comes toward the the breeding and racing in Pennsylvania that bloomer those those fears were allayed though and and you know the state stands Harrisburg understands the benefits of supporting the program given what it does for the farm community and all the trickle down economies correct we three years ago we put the Racehorse Development on in a trust Why don't sweat say we legislate Peter's put it in a trust and so people are now confident that that money is going to be the air because you know like you said you know commitment is in for a year your commitment coming in it's probably five or six years and the getting some you know some more running in you know you're seeing that with the with the new standards that are coming into Pennsylvania I mean with the opportunity the Warriors Reward Uptown Charlie Brown's doing Doing fantastic uncle Lino peace and just this we just Dr Solomon at Pin Oak Lane form Just ince contract for Normandy in Beijing becoming in another tap it so you know things when when people are confident that you know programs on the right track you know you'll see you'll see that by you know the uptick in the Palm Mares bread and and home owners coming in the mid Atlantic we talk we talk on a regular basis this summer and into the early fall with with Alan Norman and the match series and we had a Lotta conversations about Virginia and the the reboot of of racing there and there's you know there's really kind of an inter- intertwined network really for for people that that race in the mid Atlantic I mean with all the the various program awards that breeders and again whether you breathe a racer or you breathe to sell it folded in Delaware certification and Virginia certification and then if you dropped your foal in Pennsylvania Oh my God it oh you I've I've said this a few times can you can literally win a purse and all the awards could be seventy five percent over and above what you want is a purse right I mean you can you can look at that horse was bred by peasy Patterson and Vicki so we call Paul who WanNa Delaware certified the stake a young won a couple of stakes in Pennsylvania a bread I mean you just you know you can't ask for anything better what run down the awards we haven't talked about this in a long time what are the percentages and are they structured well Both breeders and owners benefit from the plan are free your award for maiden made races is fifty percents are a breeder that's horses twenty five percents so we're taking care of them to any other races the Breeder Award Forty Percent Twenty Percent for others owner bonuses up to forty percents at parks and twenty percent of pen and thirty percent at Chris Kyle we have hundreds of restricted races every year we just put in a waiver of Maine claiming So any maiden want us I'm sorry not any meaning Clinton but at at Penn gene maiden claiming race it's twenty five or higher you can waive the claim if you have a PA at parks it's the maiden claiming twenty where you can waive the wave the claim when we wanted to we wanted to give our breeders and opportune unity to get back some of that money that they put out and they're harder time and effort before the horses eligible declined because as you know in Pennsylvania decent Pennsylvania bread boom that's suckers gone and we we also have have discussed you mentioned call Paul who's competed at the highest level but the the string of Pennsylvania bread great at stake with there's and Breeders Cup runners winters I it the whole program has has just gotten better and better given the quality of bears that the state has attracted and these are successes that kind of feed on on themselves and you mentioned Pinot there's there's any number of people that that understand these dynamics and are going to take advantage and that's why the mayors are showing up and it's a boon to a farm operators in the breeding operators absolutely I mean we're we're breathing we're seeing an increase in the number of foles and also an increase in the quality.
