Hello everyone, and welcome to the week eight edition of the lottos fantasy corner where we dive into some of the important fantasy statistics along with my rankings for the week eight slate of games as of right now, it's Thursday afternoon in two teams have had Kobe issues this week, the chargers and the giants. Yes. Our beloved giants had a positive protests that forced the majority of the offense line into quarantine all. But four from I believe Tom Pella Cerro tweeted that starting guard we'll Hernandez reportedly tested positive and the giants are executing measures to ensure that isn't a spread purportedly Hernandez was not with Daniel Jones Saquon, Barkley Sterling, shepherd, and some of the younger giants in the city on Friday with a players grab some food and drinks and a private bar, and they were caught on camera without masks on a lot of people. Were kind of freaking out about that, and then once you kind of. Deeper into the story, it seemed like the giants were invited into private parts and they weren't just out clubbing and being absolutely reckless but he regardless, this isn't great news and if more positive test arise and things may interesting because the giants are the Monday night football game. We saw something similar last week when arguably the best game of the year Arizona and Seattle was flexed into Sunday night football over Tampa Bay and the raiders which was obviously great for the viewer because Arizona Seattle game was amazing. It was a great comeback by Arizona, a lot of changes in the lead of the game and it was arguably one of the best games this season. But as of right now, there isn't going to be or at least it doesn't seem like there's going to be a change to this Monday night football game with Tampa Bay. But as we all know that is subject to change because things are very fluid and nothing is really certain in this covert world. I haven't heard the name of the player who reportedly tested positive for the chargers. So all of this is, of course, more situations to monitor you wanna see what's going on with the charges from WanNa. See what's going on with the giants are these false positives we don't really know. All of that quite yet and I'm sure from when you're listening to this till Sunday, they'll be more positive tests around the league that pop up crop up and these teams are GonNa have to handle. It's going to be a weekly thing but that's just Kinda the nature of the world that we're in. So let's kind of dive into the quarterback rankings start with the quarterbacks I go through the teams that are by in week as the Arizona Cardinals Jacksonville Jaguars Washington football team and the Houston Texans. So those are the bye week teams. There's no Murray, no De'andre Hopkins, you're not having your. Shoes who reportedly dealing with some thumb injuries that were. kind of uncovered through this by week. Think they did some tests on his thumb and they realize he has ligament damage there I'm not sure to the extent of what that means. He's going to require surgery if he can play through it but that kind of does explain why Gardner Minhsiu hasn't been all that great fact that he was a six round pick and obviously the football team and the Texans as well. Anybody you won't from those teams will be by please monitor your rosters quarterbacks number one quarterback this week easy Patrick Mahomes I the New York jets I guess the concern. In this game that you think and it could happen is that Clyde Edwards layer score like two touchdowns on the Ground Libby Bell my score touchdown on the ground will go up twenty one nothing and not have to throw the football that much. But I think in the first half of this game, you might just have Patrick Mahomes who has twenty fantasy points, and then whenever you get in the second half is going to be you know extra goodness really because this is the new. York. Jets the hapless football teams as Patrick Mahomes. We haven't had that homes just blow up type of game quite yet. We had a couple. Really. Nice. Come from behind victories on. You had the one game. Where Pat Mahomes in the first half had about twenty fantasy points and you really do anything and the second half of that specific game against the Las Vegas Raiders which actually ended up being a loss. So the positive games fantasy points didn't even really help because pokemon raiders defense really clampdown remember talking about that on this podcast a little bit ago. But Patrick Mahomes against the new. York jets knocking to overthink as my number one quarterback. If you have them, you're going to be starting in right now pat mahomes ranks third in fantasy points behind only. Kyle Murray and Russell Wilson who are leading the world on fire. The homes right now has sixteen of one touchdown to interception ratio and he's Pat Mahomes for reason, number two aaron rodgers versus Minnesota Aaron Rodgers has been. Playing like the Aaron Rodgers, we thought he was this season last year we saw a bit of a fantasy regression. They went to a much more run dominated team with Jones and the team had success. They went thirteen and three I thought they were fraudulent, but they still went thirteen and three, but against MINNESOTA? Aaron. Rodgers. is going to be able to cook. We saw that in week one what happened Aaron Rodgers went out and dropped thirty five fantasy points on Minnesota that was at Minnesota this is in Green Bay expect Davante Adams Rubber N- and Aaron Jones if he plays to have the Games Minnesota's defense can't stop anything they have not been able to get right and they just traded Yanni in Gakugei to the Ravens during the bye week. So Minnesota is just not a team that you want to be relying on from a defensive standpoint. On this season, they rank about tenth and fantasy points allowed to the quarterback position that's mainly due to a couple of games where her. Team was able to clamp down against the colts when they were playing the corpse of Philip Rivers so Aaron Rodgers, if you have him, you're wrong him out there Russell. Wilson is third Burr San Francisco gets to host San. Francisco his team is somewhat beat up Chris Carson is a game time decision if he's healthy and he's playing play him, he somebody who usually plays through these kinds of injuries Carlos. Hyde has some hamstring tightness dot dot exactly sure what's going on there and then Travis homers also dealing with injuries. So they're running back situation's a little bit. Just. Unpredictable. At the moment, which could lead to a lot more passing a lot more tyler, Lockett, a lot more decay Macapagal, San Francisco's defense who's been solid against quarterbacks who's been solid this year as we know how San Francisco's defense can be right now San Francisco's defense. is towards the bottom half a fantasy points allowed to the quarterback position, but that doesn't really matter because this is Russell Wilson and this is the Russell Wilson's probably be throwing the football in this game..

Wherever you get your podcasts and let's go mets. Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the LAN football the week seven edition of this bad boy here, and it was yet again another wild week unfortunately, for US giants fans and the people who cover the New York giants the week a football started in the worst way with twenty to twenty one loss loss that was suffered in such a devastating. Fashion? Even for the New York giants I mean we've been through this before as fans specially throughout the history with the Eagles in particular the miracle at the meadowlands with Herm Edwards the other miracle at the meadowlands with Matt freaking dodge kicking it to Sean Jackson still in my head say kick it out of bounds kick it out of bounds kicked out about But now we have this meltdown. On Thursday night football a game were ESPN gave the giants and ninety six percent chance to win. Yet, the giants still found a way to lose this affair. Want to know when I knew. This game was shot for the giants. Did you like to know that the moment where I was like oh? No here we go. Not again that moment. was when Bj Hill sacked Carson Wentz, but it was negated by an illegal contact penalty against Ryan, Lewis? It's nuts crazy lease me flabbergasted to because of Lewis doesn't commit that foul. I. Honestly think the giants win that game. More embarrassed. So many little things had to happen to put the giants into the position where we're going to lose this football game. But at that moment I was like, oh no, not again. Don't do this. But of course, we all know what happened. Was Second Ten and he'll does an excellent job sacking Wednesday force a third and fifteen but instead, the eagles get a first down and it takes three days to drive down the field and score touchdown and yes, giants defense played seventy two snaps in this football game but the level of sloppy football is still really concerning to me undisciplined. Really. Louis committed to fouls towards the end of the game bradberry and Ryan had one. There was a too many men on the Field Penalty Madre Harper got some yellow laundry thrown at him during the two point conversion. Because he was acting immature early even though they didn't convert that two point conversion still don't want to see that Ballantyne lowered his helmet on that punt. Resulted in a fifteen yard penalty and when the giants lost the lead and they were on offense, we'll hernandez beaten side and gets called for holding. That's all happening. In the latter half of the fourth quarter. You cannot play that type of undisciplined football and expect to win games. In a very winnable division. And this teams just not getting done whatsoever. When, they need to understand football and bad teams find ways to lose, and that's what the giants are. There are bad football team. We should we talking about fifteen, play ninety, seven, your drive, the eight minutes of the clockwork Daniel Jones had to do miracle spins in the pocket to evade avoid. But instead we're talking about another loss we should be discussing pre-snap look that was confirmed by Jones on third and seven with the game on the line, and Jones was able to put a very nice ball with the shoulder of Evans Ingram to seal a divisional game on the road but instead or talking about another loss. We should be talking about how the giants just beat the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas just lost to the football team, which means the giants are the number one seed in the NFC east but instead. We're. Talking. About another loss team has been competitive. But they're so frustrating and there's talent on the roster James bradberry Logan Ryan Bleak Martinez. Healthy Sterling. Shepherd. But there are just way too many players underperforming. We'll Hernandez Cameron Fleming Andrew Thomas all at key positions on the offensive line Thomas was the fourth overall pick and looks worse than a day three selection not only going to be in hyperbolic. The NFL caught onto vulnerability protecting the inside didn't take them long. But he can't fix it yet at least not consistently. He has to keep his inside leg planted. And keep his balance when handling counter moves inside counter-moves inside spins anything like that. It's been such a liability and you know what? Honestly there were few reps on the all twenty two where he seemed to do that. And it helped correct some of his force seem to kind of keep that inside leg planted. But there were others where he still failed completely failed. And if we're talking about players coming up small and big spots, we shall go no further mental look at number eighty, eight Evan Ingram men. had. A drop that led to an interception and a drop that cost the giants the game. Is Evident that New, York wants to get this player involved as much as possible. They just want to get the ball in his hands. He gets a few end around game design throws to him. He had that one flair route with all the playside wide receiver stock block into the side almost sort of like a screen. and. One thing he does do well is move in space when he has the ball in his hand. He made people miss he strong. But he's just not a great runner he can't catch well at all. He can't run block nor can you pass block seems like a nice guy but he's been a huge liability and comes up small in way too many spots. and. It's so frustrating. Really, have him on this giants team. 'cause you know the potential could be sky high, but he hasn't even come close to scratching the surface. And he's only hurt the team this season. which sucks to say. But any JAG tight end you put them into the spots that he's been in. He was able to get open like Evan Ingram did which? Automatically assume that. He makes these kinds of catches ingram doesn't he drops them I hope that the eleven drops that he had. In his rookie season was an anomaly, it doesn't seem to be. It doesn't. especially. With. Plays like the interception was that ball perfect no gain Jones anticipated a blitz they're. Called it was throwing Hot Evan I'm still needs to catch that he had a little bit Alga arms possibly on it to. Not Ideal and I thought Jones he left some plays on the field after watching the all twenty two nothing egregious. Most of them are rolling out and fleeing from pressure there's somebody opened just doesn't lock onto them. But he also had some very nice throws where he was throwing with anticipation into open areas, leading his receivers open things that you love to see from a second year quarterback and Jones may not be great. But he's far from the problem here in New York. You can certainly win with a quarterback like gained Jones. was also obvious how much this team Mr Erling shepherd a player who can..

You can find the show on apple podcasts on stitcher on spotify or wherever you get your podcasts and let's go mets. Hello, everyone, and welcome to another episode of Lotto on football I'm the host of this show Nicholas Philosophy and we're talking week four ladies and gentlemen. It's just about in the books. But before we dive into scores highlights and how things went down this week, we should probably address the incredibly precarious nature of the NFL which was on display throughout this week with Kovin earlier in the week few titans, players and personnel tested positive for Kobe nineteen, which prompted fear all around the NFL with titans upcoming game against the steelers and also their week three opponent, which was the Minnesota. Vikings, but nobody luckily has tested positive from the Viking and with the incubation period being somewhere between. Contraction to fourteen days, it is possible that somebody on the vikings ends up testing positive, and then that would also cause the Houston Texans to be exposed because that was the team that played the Vikings. So that's something that's somewhat. Concerning. But the fact that no vikings have tested positive is definitely a good sign but the NFL postponed the titans and steelers game the game was supposed to be Monday or Tuesday this week. But throughout the week more titans just kept testing positive, which forced the NFL to give both teams and impromptu. By Week, the NFL had to get creative to find a resolution to squeeze his game into the schedule and the game was rescheduled. Now for week seven, the steelers at Baltimore Game. which was the week seven matchup was moved from October twenty fifth to November first at one pm because both of those teams had a week a by. So it was a little bit of maneuvering of the schedule and the NFL had to get creative but unfortunately, these outbreaks, this is our reality right now and the schedule should be considered fluid as of right now especially, with all of these scares, these things are going to tend to happen, and as most of you know Cam Newton tested positive on Saturday for the corona virus and a practice squad player quarterback Jordan to Yabu player for. The chiefs he also tested positive for the chiefs and the Patriots, and they were supposed to play each other in week four. That's not good. But both teams started testing multiple times a day and that game has now been rescheduled for Monday night before the Packers Falcons game. But by the time you're listening to this someone could have tested positive in the morning and that game could be rescheduled all together. It certainly concerning especially when you look at it from a fantasy perspective, a lot of those teams are have a lot of fantasy goodness I. Guess You could say a lot of fantasy. Performers. On those rosters of the Patriots and the. Kansas City chiefs. But if all goes well nobody tests positive, they will be playing. Before the Packer Falcon. Game. Then we can enjoy to football games in prime time Monday night football, but does not going to be a He's already ruled out because he was the one who tested positive for the Patriots and another scare actually happened with Kobe nineteen when the saints landed in Detroit late on Saturday night, the saints full-back. Michael Burton tested positive for Kuban. Alvin Kamara was actually sitting right next to him on the plane. So the league's contact tracing rules he had to get mass tested, but it turned out the fullback burden was just a false positive test. So the game went on the Lions got. Thirty, five, twenty, nine, even they took a pretty early lead in that game I want to say they were up fourteen nothing could be mistaken there. But the look like the lions were rolling in the saints just turned it on and the lions kind of look. Much. Better than it actually was put themselves into a position late possibly do something but obviously wasn't enough but I expect these types of things to kind of happen throughout the NFL which is going to suck. It's going to be unfortunate and it's going to have to force this league to be really adaptable and there was a lot of talk last night about coaches around the league saying that they should shut the NFL down for a week. And possibly set up a twelve game schedule with a lot of in certain bubble situations to mitigate this kind of stuff and that was after the lions and the Saints Scare. But since that ended up being a false positive I haven't heard anything about it but probably going to be a point of conversation throughout the week especially if these things just keep coming up now. onto the giants I was surprised. They were rather competitive throughout the game and even had a chance to tie up on their final drive but Jones greedy and tried to forcible through tight coverage bad ball at that. It was thrown pretty foreign side Damian Rally, and the result was an interception by Darius Williams to seal the game. And Joe was on that plane. He could have ran it. He could have a more than likely would have kept the chains moving and that's one of my biggest gripes about this contest though. was. The giants in these kinds of situations. Yes. They were down ten to three at halftime, but they had sixty seven yards of offense in the first half like what are we doing here? The Red Zone efficiency is terrible I. Know Daniel Jones had six carries for forty five yards in this game but a lot of them, the vast majority of them they weren't designed I thought we'd see Garrett implement a bit more design runs to get Jones and space and forced the defense to respect his legs but I didn't see as much of that especially after we saw it against the forty niners. and. It's obvious Jones can do. This is the giants needed because the giants cannot move the football right now and a massive concern. Joe's was able to take advantage of a lot of plays and pick up yardage that way and the rams seemed content to allow Jones to use his legs. And just to eliminate his passing. Targets and doesn't seem these guys are separating doesn't seem like they're finding the right spots in within zone covered or Jones and finding them while they're open. The timing is just a little bit offer. Daniel Jones it was wasn't a great outing by him. But. We didn't see. Daniel? Jones. Legs be used like they were used against the forty niners. And also the rams man defensive line was manhandled the giants office of line in the first half of the game. The rams had four sacks right off the bat. The giants though were able to slow that passwords down just enough quick game concepts a few successful rushing attempts which seems fake to giants fans because we haven't seen that in a very long time wing. ALMANAC. A couple of nights. One Soda Devante Freeman. But also because the giants defense was opportunistic, was another reason why the rams defense had to be out there much more much more than I expected to be honest. I mean, got to look at the giants men. Little Bit Opportunistic Bend don't Break Austin Johnson forced the fumble Gerald Everett which was actually after Everett scored that touchdown his first rushing touchdown a his career because he's a tight end. When the rams drove the ball right down the giants throats and the first drive. Fibers downs in the first series something big happened early on in the game. Something that most giants fans were calling for. And it was a key mistake by devante downs that resulted in him being replaced in favor of take crowder who played more snaps. And right out, there is a guide him was beat a few times on some quick hitches just wasn't exactly in the best position he should have been cornerback is it Yeah Adam that is John Ryan Lewis in over item after that giants defense became much more solidified. And the did not have as many holes to exploit, and I do love that adjustment by gram personnel adjustment because to me personally devante downs and. He's been a liability in every game. He's made mistakes at every single game is guide him he's not. He, somebody to be picked on it's not great. Man Coverage not overly balanced. He's not in position a lot of the Times. And Ryan Lewis haven't seen enough of them. But the little bit that we saw last week and what we saw this week in this game was pretty solid. Now hope they stick with that Lewis over item and then crowder over devante downs in the nickel packages on the offensive side of the Baldo just a sloppy I, which is really par for the course we got to see Jason Garrett you Shane Lemieux at full-back which was fun as was seeing Matt pair on the field when Cam Fleming was out he looked pretty good. But when you look at this giants offense, it's they just cannot score touchdowns they're not scoring in the red zone. Able to actually move the ball pretty consistently. Thanks to some improvisation by Daniel Jones but they're red zone offenses Putrid right now let's look at this glass. And pretended half oil. Okay. Team..

Giants fans welcome to a new edition of the Valentine's views podcast here on big blue view radio part of your SP nation family of podcast. I'm your host Ed. Valentine of Big Blue View. You know one of the biggest questions about the New York giants season. If an win that season get started due to the COVID, nineteen pandemic is of course the offensive line. General Manager Dave Gettleman used three draft picks on offensive lineman. In the past draft, he also signed veteran swing tackle Cameron Fleming in what he called an effort to fix the offensive line once and for all what we're going to have to find out during the twenty twenty season is if gettleman in the giants have made strides in that direction. This really is version three point own of settlements offensive line rebuild. He walked in the door at the end of the two thousand seventeen season, saying that that he needed to fix that offensive line for the giants to be successful going forward. was really unable to do that. In two thousand, eighteen made some strides last year in doing so, but still a lot of work was left to be done. Obviously this year with the drafting in the first round of Andrew, Thomas Third Round of Matt fifth round of Shane Lemieux, the giants made a concerted effort to to get some long-term answers into that offensive line, particularly the drafting of Thomas, fourth overall who was one of four offensive tackles considered to be. Top ten top fifteen worthy picks ended up as the first offense. If tackle off the board so. What we've done here today. Giants fans is ahead a chance to speak with longtime NFL offensive line coach Paul, Alexander who spent close to thirty years in the NFL. Twenty three of those as offensive line coach of the Cincinnati. Bengals had an opportunity to talk to to coach Alexander about the giants. Offensive Line will play that interview here for you in just a minute You'll be interested coach. Alexander had a lot of good things to say about Andrew Thomas About Matt Shane Lemieux and about the talent that the giants have collected on the offensive line overall. Also before I go any farther. Just wanted to point out that it just so happens that today at big blue view as we're going through our series of roster profiles for the giants. Today happens to be the day that we that we focused on Andrew Thomas Oh please take time to to visit the website and give that story read also as always please subscribe to big blue view on all of your favorite podcast applications. Join the community if you were. If you haven't already done, so follow us on twitter at big blue view, all right giants fans. Let's play that interview now that I did with the with former NFL offensive line coach Paul Alexander. Alright giants fans I'm joined now by longtime NFL offensive line coach Paul Alexander. Who spent twenty four years I believe with the with the Cincinnati Bengals the poll. Thank you very very much for for coming on and wanted to go ahead and fill people in on your background. Sure Yeah. well I started out at Penn. state coaching for Joe Paterno is a graduate assistant and went to Michigan Motion Bachelor's Graduate Assistant. My Line Coaching Job I. One fulltime was at Central Michigan where I coached in college over the time group for ten years, and then I was in the New York jets I was at the big apple for two years as tight end, coach and went to the bengals. it was twenty three years as line coach there, and then I finished up one year with the Dallas cowboys so I coach close to thirty years in the NFL and. All probably the greatest enjoyment out of that is I was able to coach. Fifteen guys were either. Pro bowlers are first alternates to the roles. I was around some really great offensive line. Over my time. Twenty three years in one place as an NFL. Assistant is pretty much unheard of so That's that's pretty cool. Accomplishment in in and of itself. He has probably because we're good players. We're pretty good. Well then we suck no that. Well that that does help Paul I. I reached out to you to talk about the the giants and their offensive line. You know obviously that has been. A focus for the giants. The last couple of years ever since Dave, gettleman took over. He's been trying to to rebuild that group. You know he's brought in Nate's older brought in Kevin Zeitler this year. He drafted a couple of offensive lineman. Let me actually start kind of going through the giants personnel. Maybe the guy that just having been in in Cincinnati. Maybe the guy that that that you might know best. Just just from having seen for awhile. is Kevin Zeitler. I'm curious for your thoughts on on Zeitler. And what kind of player he is your before before I talked about that. Let me tell you a little quick story. Scott Williams Scott Williams. I went to college together. Court one, you know. New York, and and Scott is a writer for NCIS right. Scott happens to be one of the biggest giants fans alive so for the last thirty years. He's been texted me. We need to do any offensive line and. Today and I looked at the roster. Nice Scott I got tight on paper. It's a best looking line that I remember for the giants in quite a while so we'll talk about these guys and. I do think the future is bright now I'm I'm typically totally honest. If I thought they socked W, they sucked. But. I'm optimistic about the quality of the line, so let's talk well Kevin Zeitler Kevin Zeigler. We drafted in the first round Kevin Zeitler should be a pro bowl player. He plays it in elite level. He's big, strong, tough, dedicated, very productive, excellent technician, a very dependable. When I went to work out Kevin Zeitler it Wisconsin they were on spring, break and Kevin said yeah, meet me in the parking lot at such and such time so I did shoot. He was IRT unlock. The Gate had all the equipment setup. Had the film room open now? No players ever be that. Type of guy this guy he is, he is a team leader that you want and I'm going to be honest with you. When we let him go at the Bengals, which I was furious about that hurt us and it her Cleveland when he left there and to me I thought it was a great pickup by the giants Howard. How how the world is! How in the world is it that that he's gone through? What an eight nine year career at this point! And never made a pro bowl never been an all pro. I can't I can't figure that one out. Well history new record the team you're on, you know. He was starting to get some now. He signed the biggest contract of any guard in the history of the League when he left us so obviously he got. the respect of the The George Washington's and Alexander Hamilton's CETERA. He did get that respect, but I think it. CLEVELAND, if they'd one more and kept him and of course the giants. Know they. Lost More. Games than any team in the league. I think the last three years so that doesn't help..

Hello again, giants fans, Eddie Valentine here with your Valentine's views podcast part of the SP, nation family of podcasts you know were were three weeks away from NFL training camps, and we're heading toward the strangest most unknown type of training, Camp and type of NFL season. That that any of us has ever experienced, and probably will ever experience as I think about it. There are so many question marks heading into heading into training camps, which are still scheduled to begin on July twenty eighth right now. We don't know if there's going to be a pre season. The NFL and the NFL players association are still going back and forth on that NFL owners want to preseason games reportedly nfl the NFL PA wants no preseason games you know with a A. A training camp schedule geared toward making sure that that players get an extended ramp up period after many of them have not really been able to work out the way that they're accustomed to. During the off season will see how all of that plays out I. Know Jj Watt of the Houston Texans recently came out, and and had some comments on that saying that he's basically sees both sides of that issue that he sort of on the fence. The thing of it is not having A. A preseason from a player perspective won't affect the guys who who know they have. Jobs won't really affect the star players. They don't play much. If at all in the preseason any way, the guys that you feel badly for would be. The Guy's trying to make the roster that the undrafted free agents. The the guy is competing for jobs. The the the late round draft picks the veterans trying to hang onto jobs. Those guys who need the snaps need the reps need the preseason games to. To To show coaching staffs what they have in, and they're not going to get that kind of opportunity without the preseason games. Although you know my my two cents might take is to be honest despite all of that, I would rather not see preseason games to be honest with you because I think that the decisions that have to be made here as NFL PA. President JC shredder has has said has written on the NFL PA website. Decisions have to be made with player staff organization. And as Dr, Jill, weatherhead and Dr Zach Benny said on my show recently community safety at the forefront these decisions can't be made from a profit perspective, or to be honest, even from a football perspective that has to take a backseat right now to keeping as many people as safe as possible during the covid nineteen pandemic, especially with it raging. Out of control right now through so much of the United, states you know. We simply have to do the NFL you would hope. Keeps Safety and public health at the forefront instead of Prophet. That said another thing that we don't know right now. In addition to what training camp what the preseason going to look like? We don't even know what the roster sizes are going to be. Generally, teams take the ninety main take ninety man rosters to training camp. There is some discussion with the NFL PA which normally would be pushing for more jobs instead of less. NFL PA asking for eighty man rosters instead of ninety, simply because of space because of a distancing requirements and safety requirements and I. Don't blame them again I feel bad for if it comes to that I feel bad for players who who will lose an NFL opportunity who will lose a chance to to pursue their dream. You know simply because of this pandemic because of. Of the of the situation that we find ourselves in, but again if that's a decision that that has to be made to to keep players organization, you know members, staff members, and the community at large, safe thin. That's what has to be done. You were already. We're seeing We saw the Ivy League the other day. Say that they will not play sports. During the upcoming semester you wonder if other college conferences will follow suit, and although that's not a direct directly impacting the NFL, just another example of how public safety has to be at the forefront. Of any decisions that get made in the current environment, the other thing that's being discussed right now is the possibility of opt out with opt outs in other sports in Major. League baseball in the NBA. We're seeing players opt out of the the restarts that are coming up currently. We don't know if if that will be an option for NFL players, but I can definitely see see certain NFL players in depending on. On the situation depending on their families depending on you know their own health concerns, I can certainly see players wanting that option I think about the giants, and think about a player like nate soldier who has gone through testicular cancer, who has a son, a young son, continuing to battle a kidney cancer and I think about about him perhaps being a player who would want the option to to sit out twenty twenty season. Took to protect himself and protect his family I. Haven't really. Thought about other giants players who might be in a similar situation, but when I thought about opt-outs, nate soldier is one who came to mind for the giants and into. Be honest whether it's nate's older. You know no matter who it is. I wouldn't blame anyone for making a decision to to protect themselves in their families rather than play football during the twenty twenty season. All right, let's let's switch gears A. A little bit. Yeah, we didn't mention that. That training camp is coming up at big blue view. You know we're continuing to try as much as we can to prepare you know as we always do. In the summer for a football season. Our Summer School series is continuing Chris Flom and Nick Fa Lotto have have handled. Most of that have done a great job. Explaining a lot of a defensive schemes coverages fronts. Offenses attack those. It's been a very educational summer for those of you who have been following that series. We have a few more pieces coming up between now in the beginning of training camp so hopefully you'll continue to follow that series on our website. We've also been ranking the giants roster. We started at number ninety, actually ninety one because of the the roster exemption. The giants have for International Player Pathway Program. Performer Sandra. PLATZ gummer who is a running back from Austria and incidentally in a couple of minutes we will be playing an interview for you that I did with will bryce a member of that program in a talent evaluator from the UK who will be telling us about Platt's Gummer, and what what giants fans might see, and what his opportunity could be with the giants this summer in this fall, so we'll do that. Also just wanted to mention. You know we've got position battle stuff coming up EMERY, Honda Football Game Plan. Who Does? Youtube videos for us has been beginning to post some positional battle videos on our youtube page, and we will also be posting some stories on our website to correspond with those..

We also answer your emails. Give weekly music recommendations and try not to get too frustrated with the team. You can find the show on Apple podcasts on stitcher on spotify wherever you get your podcasts and let's go mets. Pillow giants, fans and welcome to a new edition of Valentine's US podcast here on Biglou view radio part of your SP nation family of podcast I'm your host Ed Valentine of Big Blue? View and we're coming to you on Tuesday. June sixteenth, the giants for all intents and purposes ended their virtual season program last Friday. The NFL, said that those things can run. For a couple more weeks, I believe through June twenty-sixth and I know that giants rookies will still be. Be Meeting with the coaching staff up until that point, but for all intents and purposes, the virtual off season program is over, and which means it's time for us to discuss what we've learned what we haven't learned about the giants you know before we get to to training camp in here to help me discuss. Some of that is good friend. Patricia trainer who talked to in a while Patty. How you doing how you been. I'm doing well. Ed, but I was starting to think he didn't love me anymore. Oh Patty. Do we have to go through this again? Sure you don't got no. I have to break your warns add. Of course patio? Of course, it's just you. Know Football Perry there hasn't been anything to talk about so I. Know I know it's been hard to come up with things to write about, but you know. Look the good thing about what we do is. We are paid to be creative and I don't know about you, but I'm trying my best to come up with stuff that you know. People want to read and and take part in and whatnot, and it's been a challenge though I can use some football. That's for sure we all could patty. We all could so what I wanted to do today. Sort of talk about the off season that the giants have had such as it is virtual program. We've had very little access to To, giants, coaches and players. We've talked to Joe Judge a couple of times. I think we talked to Dave, gettleman we. We had video conferences with a couple of players. And you and I noticed over the past few days we took sort of different approaches to to wrapping up the offseason. You did a sort of things that we learned about the giants throughout the the virtual off season, the draft all of that. I took sort of the opposite approach. The things that we didn't learn any because of the fact that we never really that we never got to see them on the field, so let's actually go through some of that. What we'll do is we'll a kind of look at your post that you did on giants country. Talk about some of the things that. That we that we learned enduring the the during the last couple of months and we'll talk about that then we'll take a little break and we'll talk about Some of the things that I wrote as. So, let's take a look at. Let's start with some of the things that we learned. About the giants this off season. And one of the things that you mentioned. Is that they the giants? Definitely sought to really upgrade speed on defense we. We have no idea how that's all going to play out, but it was pretty apparent. When they drafted so many linebackers. And that's one of the reasons. They said they did that so just. Just your thoughts on on what they did with the player acquisitions Patty and what they attempt to do on the defense. Right, so the way I broke it down as three segments in the article. What we know what we think, we know what we don't know, but for the what we know column. She said one of the things. Dave gettleman when he spoke to us after the draft, he said that they sought to add more speed to the back end of the defense, which was a problem this year. If you remember how many times did we watch a running back or a titan get to the second level, and just absolutely blow by a linebacker or safety pursuit. We that far TWAS Open. We saw the same thing with titans going up the seems. Excited Stat regarding You know the tight ends in the damage that they did to the giants defense and I know I got sick of watching it I'm sure you've got sick of it. I'm sure a lot of people got sick of it, and it was a clear indication to me. That! They needed to add speed to that defense. Because if you don't have the guys that can keep up with these fast, running backs and receivers and tight ends, it's not going to help your pass rush and I think. Even though we don't know how it's going to play out and we haven't seen. How quick is for example, campground, linebacker. They selected in the sixth round. Is He like Ryan? Connolly Guy who? Doesn't have very many wasted steps. You know based on what films available. Based on the feedback we got from from gentlemen, and from Joe, judge, which can probably say that they've added some speed, but how they deploy it, and how it actually looks against other speed. That's still to be determined. Almost definitely patty one of the things that we're doing it big blue view that we do every summer is we do our summer school series and one of the things that we've been going through? Recently are different coverage schemes cover one cover to..

Jay Brunson the linebacker out of South Carolina. Here on the Chris. Joe Show WE WILL BE BREAKING DOWN. Brunson everything you need to know about him. His potential what he does as a player in what he could possibly bring to this giants roster that has been in need of defensive help as I said. Oh this is the JOE show. I'm Jodi Leone joined by Chris. Flynn presentative ISP nation and big blue view. Chris TJ Brunson. It was a bit of an odd player to evaluate because we were just saying this before we started a record and we were going over our show notes that we couldn't really pinpoint what Brunson did best but besides that though the pick number two thirty eight in the draft. Six foot one to thirty two.

The New York giants selected Cam Brown outside out of Penn State and Chris. He sure is an interesting guy to break down and analyze as a prospect because he could really go either way. This is the Christian Joe. Show I am. Deleon joined by Chris. Phone we're presented by SP nation and big blue view. This prospect for Camp Brown is very different than some of these other guys that we have talked about for the giants because he is not so finite in easy to describe in terms of what he could potentially become what his worst case in terms of what he old develop into because he is such a raw prospect with a lot of really good traits. But a lot of serious mistakes on the film going right into Cam Brown who we are breaking down on. Today's show six foot five to thirty three. Which is huge in terms of in terms of height at the LINEBACKER POSITION. Thirty four inch arms and was really used all over.

"The forty Niners these are so like I don't know if you guys do this but I am I'm a patriot's fan but the patriots don't play every in every window right so I often gravitate towards a couple of teams the year that I'm not gonna say I'm fans of them but I'm gonna gravitate and watch them more closely than other teams and so I have a pretty healthy disliking of the KC chiefs for a variety of reasons so I am I'm interested in watching the raiders I just don't think the rate's going to be good so I want to watch the Chargers to the Chargers in the forty Niners both teams I'm on the west coast may get the west coast window I want to watch these guys play because the pager is gonna play most of their games for in the early went out in the afternoon window Chargers in the forty Niners I'm going to be very interested and I also think Philip rivers is a pretty interesting guy there's a variety of reasons for that but I worked in Athens Alabama for awhile which is the hometown of Philip rivers I know a lot of people I know I know his high school coach appetite he's a guy who want to play for Alabama or Auburn they would not let him play quarterback so we said forget it I'm not going to play line backer and the Alabama won him as a linebacker and I think offered one of him as a tight end I think that's right but he said no I'm a quarterback went to NC state put up huge numbers goes to the Chargers in the NFL and it's had a hall of fame career it would be really cool if Philip rivers won a Superbowl if you really really cool it be a fitting end I I don't think the guy wants to retire anytime soon because he has so many kids I don't think he wants to go home not the does like being a father he loves being a father but I think his life would be very different Tom Brady said today about playing doing something else the playing football he doesn't like I I can't imagine myself doing anything else I think Philip rivers feels the same way he can't imagine not being identical quarterback and there is high expectations they'll Chargers right now sit at ten wins being projected by CD sports book the over is only understood you stop what about a minus one fifteen you got the overt minus one of five I think the Chargers can win twelve games they just give they've gotta keep themselves healthy they can't have the injury bug crush them like that like a year ago I think twelve wins is very possible for the Chargers and look their home field advantage is not fair but the rams last year went to the Superbowl what happens if the Chargers go there this year like there is a real battle a real battle for the city of Los Angeles in the rams have won the first round if you will right these two teams are going to share a brand new stadium coming up in twenty twenty and there's a lot of excitement for that stadium in a lot of people are pumped up to see these two teams the state of the art facility was gonna look like it should open this year but due to construction problems and issues they pushed it back an entire year so the Chargers are now playing one more year installed Bob and then they're going to move into this gorgeous stadium they open the year at home against Indianapolis and let me tell you in terms of games I have circle that I cannot wait to watch this is one of if not V. game I want to watch in week number one white because both these teams could meet for the AFC championship game this could be a preview of the first game in the last game in the AFC could be weak one and then week whatever or nineteen or twenty week twenty because these two teams are both very talented Chargers favored by three which there is no home field advantage books don't really give the charters much of a home field but I don't think although it is week one so maybe colts fans are going to make the trip I I normally when they're playing a team it's like fifty fifty in that building for fans of the opposing team in the home team but maybe because it's the home opener Indianapolis is a is a smaller city with a pretty tough road speech probably a direct flight from Indianapolis to LA but not the easiest of flights to make that maybe you're gonna see a lot of fans stay home and it's not going to be a traditional fifty fifty split at StubHub but Chargers minus three in week one I cannot wait to watch that game there are some really good games in week one Pittsburgh in New England probably is the biggest but that game is the Sunday night game so you know during the day the early games that I'm really looking forward to watching you know I want to see what the falcons in the Vikings that's two teams that border dome teams with offenses the need to put up the big numbers this year decent defenses falcons Vikings is gonna be a really good game Chad wars in the cheapest massive game and then tie ins in the Browns massive game on the early window you know in in the later part of the day Seahawks bangles could be interesting just because I think the bangles are gonna be god awful so I want to see what happens line is nine Seattle might pick them apart cowboys might be playing without secure Elliott we'll see if that ends up happening in so that week one minus seven the line for the cowboys but the game I really wanna watch colts Chargers minus three for the colts I've already said the forty Niners or also team I'm really curious about they're playing the Buccaneers that came down to a pick I'm actually pretty surprised at that I like San Fran to win that game I don't think tip is going to be very good this year I I think the forty Niners are going to be the surprise team after a horrible for a twelve year I think they bounce back in week one I haven't place bets in week one we were talking earlier about the draftkings lineup you get you currently can go ahead and place if you want I'm I'm not bad week one just yet but I'm getting close to it I'm getting close to thinking about bedding because I don't want these lines to move like I on a straight picked just send friended beat Tampa I like San Fran a lot you know D. Chargers minus three at home against the colts I would love it to be two and a half and then I'll take the Chargers that's probably not gonna happen I think the charges are going to be really good in their schedule yeah I I it's not it's not easy but it's not that hard either the open with indeed at home they should win that game they're apt to Troy we do they should win that game their home against the Texans week three tough team in the Texans but again a fan base that's not going to most likely travel Lawson was in take over their stadium there should be a home field advantage there and I think that the team that the Texans I mean they're a tough team but I think the Chargers to win that game opening three you know very possible then week for their on the road at Miami that's a win they go for now then their home against Denver it's a divisional game but it or at home so it's five in all four the Chargers then Pittsburgh comes calling in you know what that's going to be that's gonna be a home game for the Steelers is going to be completely wacko so let's just call it a lost so they're five and one now then they're all on the road at the tie ins top game not that that's a tough game I'll give it to a woman I'm not positive six in one then they're on the road at Chicago early start Chicago late October chillier temperatures I'm going Chicago there so six into then their home for Green Bay which you know what's going to happen in November that's going to be a takeover for shore I'll give it to the home team though but that is a game that score a coin flip I'm not positive there let's just say it's seven into their hold on next came at Oakland Chargers tough game okay again I'm not positive what the rates going to look like this year but let's just say let's go ahead and give that to you to the Chargers and they will be eight into and then they play the chiefs at home before the by that's a big one that's a big big but I don't know for the sake of argument let's just go ahead and say that's a lost soul we we eight and three then they go bye week in week twelve than at Denver at Jacksonville kite I think they win both those games so now they're ten and three with three games to go home for the Vikings hold for the raiders at Kansas city I think they win two of the three of their most likely they'll beat the raiders and they'll beat the Vikings in the lose to the KC chiefs and that's a twelve and four record that's twelve and four and that's where I got the Chargers totals ten so and right now it's in terms of the the Jews you've got minus one oh five for the Chargers with the Jews on the over so I like the over there on the Chargers now injuries are definitely a worry and Melvin Gordon situation definitely a worry but I think twelve games in all you do is one eleven so you got I think you have a little leeway there it's not an easy schedule but it's not impossible because you really don't play eight championship contender until Pittsburgh in October the thirteenth and then maybe Chicago is final I don't like Tribbett ski so I can't put them Egyptian contender category in the chiefs in week eleven so week six in week eleven in the first eleven weeks before you hit the body you're only playing to championship caliber teams you know contending teams then you come back and you're playing I mean really the only place he Kansas city and Pittsburgh in terms of teams I could see winning it all slots in the Amy may I guess maybe Indianapolis is one of those teams potentially but it's it's a pretty decent schedule for the Chargers to go twelve and four of the I think that's a pretty not conservative but a pretty good estimate as to what what Los Angeles look like this year and if you're twelve and four you got a real good shot at the number one seed overall real good shot at winning the division you win the division you got the heart yet get a home playoff game to get a bye week you know you win it's not the greatest home field advantage but still is your home field you get a W. and you're going you know right to the AFL game and we'll see where that's going to be we'll talk a bit about the pager it's coming up in the next segment because it is interesting to see hello guys who are making projections are are now coming around the idea of like I don't wanna patriots but I'm going to pick the patriots and this is the time to face the patriots when that happens I'll explain that more next in the we'll get to the trade deadline Brian Salvator covers the maps we are thirty six minutes away from the trade deadline in Major League Baseball nothing major yet we'll keep an eye on it keep going with it as we'll get to the trade deadline now here in thirty five minutes it is pushing the odds aspen is radio as.
