"That weren't just straight man you know super super hard super hard but occasionally it would it would work you see something like oh great like i get to say this and get the big laugh right and that always felt good and that became i think an ongoing challenge to me and i i just am so thankful that i was paid like during that whole like <hes> process i felt i was always like producing and always supplying the show with with stuff but <hes> i i know that they were being very patient with me too because if i were a host if i had a show i would want a team of people who had my voice locked right and then if there was anything laughed and they wanted to dilly dally around with big ears operation aid right right. God bless her own talk on their own time but i would want. I want to know fifteen people who can alright hilarious things for me to try and do but i i guess so but i think maybe maybe it was also just such a business. It's like if you had something really funny and it was for yourself as like all right. This takes care of four minutes in the middle of the show right well. No there were those spots which is i was so thankful for and that's why there's that list that i don't like who those people are right because ah i mean as you said in the in the room mike i i can come up with anything to fill four minutes right but rarely is it well written with three different strong's dry traffic right right now of course now the scribe live is just every muse is in my head with pen and paper. What am i favored late night. <hes> panic situations. I i don't know i. I remember this one because there's so many of them where it was nine p._m. We'd eaten dinner and it's like we need something for tomorrow and we're all just sitting there staring at each other this one i always remember it seems extra dire to me in my head and we're all sitting there and it's nine o'clock. I think is like nine twelve pm and you came. I'm in with the kayak guy idea. I don't know do you. I don't know if you've seen that footage of a guy going down yeah yeah in a snowy mountain. I had never seen someone hacking down amount <hes> yeah i had just seen it yeah and that i was one of those times where it just like. I have something just like oh. I'm going to be a guy runs. Gets mad runs up the stairs and then i'll i'll get an a kayak and then cut it was fully formed formed like that yeah yeah yeah. I think that's why i remember because you came in pitch that and then showed the clip which and it was like yes again savior. Put him on your shoulder and then that i i don't even know how many times i was on but it was so <unk> quite a few. They were very funny. The other didn't chicago yet where in a giant hi in chicago the chicago theater so oh the the whole bit. Is you literally have to run well six eight. You had to run back upstairs. Stairs are no you had to run down and get back back in the side door. Yeah i mean where's in chicago. I guess you had to run down. It's really i think mostly fun for the live live audience yes because they're realizing the amount of the distance that has to be covering exertion yeah and they chicago's the the theater was like six flights of stairs and i think running outside on the sidewalk and security holding doors and stuff like that which was really fun. I think if if you were watching it you get it. 'cause you'd be exhausted. All of that was happening live. It wasn't a pre-tape. Wow because that's i mean that's a lot to film to and hope. I hope that everything goes right. I don't know if we ever pulled it up like afterwards like if you got waylaid something i don't i i think kind of it was kind of fun.

The cat was some presidents can <hes> i don't i think clinton britain had yeah i did honk on the nixon checkers speech nineteen fifty two but on yes so so then yeah was at a big deal to move like just relocate or you were pretty fancy. No i wasn't pretty fancy. I was <hes> we were. We're about to move to l._a. I felt like i was done. Sort of i had done what i could in chicago at that point and kind of <hes> <hes> the plan was to move to l. a. at least a couple of months yeah and then classic late night fashion got the call and like we need you tomorrow dart how they really use like we need you got. I was thanksgiving week. L. knight guy had to work on thanksgiving thanksgiving day. Get there tuesday like it was crazy. That's crazy but it all worked out yeah. I was so enormously thankful for it you were are you came in and i think you had a sketch that you were in that. You wrote like within two days guy. Yeah now is every we were so mad can watch it. It's not worth it. I remember the sketch you were a reindeer uh-huh yeah. It's it's also it's like eight minutes long like i watched it at some point and i was like oh my god like so long long back then we've talked to other people about about the in ruins right catch around all the writers checked it out it was an eight minute sketch with dippy the hippie from nineteen ninety three with charlton heston in it and it was eight minute and i. I just couldn't even wrap their brains around some because everything's so tight. It's gonna be tight but that's true. Everything does need to be tight. This was not. I remember doing some sketch and it was all me. It was me talking to conan at the desk. I was is a page is like a page with. I don't know exactly what my problem was. Just a dumb ass and we started doing the sketch and the crowd instantly hated it. I remember like in my head just going nine more pages and it was just lonely. I think i think all the writers or cry. It's one of those things where it killed in her like like hey loved it where it wouldn't be on the show and we're like i remember a few things like that where the crowds for ten the years playing for it to come back tomorrow gets nothing nah. It's funny because everyone is like tries to be in your head and knows you look over at like at the cue card guy what he's holding his cards <music>. We just cut it but the crowd was. They just not only didn't like it. They were offended by the character right. I think they thought it was mocking like mentally challenged people right. I remember this sketch and and yeah toss. It was just like this particular miller character you played in didn't it was the arrogant dumb right which was a dumb ass. Who's super arrogant right and it came across completely not that right. I like even like like the first line whatever it was and like no one left and it could even here oh back from this one person listen in the crowd and it was just like is this going to be on the website. I dunno plea people work for provided yeah yeah yeah. We're gonna put up on the web at. Are there things where you're like. Oh you know what i wish that was online because i'd love to show that to i in and out of your children or whatever but because something you'd love to see again it doesn't involve you at all while you're catching. Bring me off guard. There's plenty of course it's very hard. It's impossible things..

"Sixteen Indians need to make a major bullpen investment because this team is that good. There's so much great about that team. But boy, it'd be worthwhile for them to go out and get some like Brad hand, who is certainly there's someone there talking about Sean Doolittle, Felipe Vasquez. Those, you know, the sixteen cubs. Sixteen Indians were well worth that sort of investment. It feels like this dodger team the same thing. What do you think? I agree it ones helter to a lot of, you know, the analytics ideas in terms of, you know, what starts at. Billy bean, my bleep doesn't work in the postseason. Feel Epstein made a move to try to increase his. Odds for the play offs, and that is not something that these guys normally do do you know what I'm saying like the amount of the, the amount that they they're the probability says that, you know, they're not gonna they're not willing to, to give up. And maybe lose on a train or, or, or such because it gives them, you know, a fraction of a chance better to win in the playoffs. But I think that's exactly what the dodgers should do. I would also say this and again, that's my opinion, but I if anybody asks, like we gotta ask this all the time. And right now, if anybody asks someone in the media, who's going to be in the World Series this year. The answer is the dodgers in the Astros. I'm not saying that too, it's going to be. But if you're s that right now that's the only answer. There's no other answer, like in terms of right now, who's going to be in the World Series. It's the dodgers on the Astros, period. Yep. I totally agree with you. And I do think the dodgers who who've been aggressive. During the season and making deals, the last couple of years. I think they're going to do something big with their bullpen Monday, Nick Marquez. The Braves got career BI I one thousand I'd met to chat about that with Dave show and field in the podcast yesterday. But I, I completely forgot vote, which seems perfect when we talk about Nick, Mark acres, right, that I would forget to talk about him because he's someone who's overlooked so often, and then last night. Brian McCann another home or two hundred seventy five career homers nine hundred ninety seven RBI. So he's coming up on one thousand seven all star parents.

"A pitcher. You mentioned Brian McCann. He goes to the National League east with the offense is aren't going to be as strong so you love it from that perspective. We'll say this Carl man is he going to be under a lot of pressure to perform right away. You know, the report came out last night that he is expected to start in the minor leagues this weekend. He's been throwing simulated games, but there is no margin for error for Dallas kaikal. Is he comes back because under a one year contract, of course, strategy would be that he would go sign with a team this summer, and then go into the free agent market in the fall. And if he doesn't perform well here in these last months of the season, he's gonna get buried in free agency. We've seen so many of these guys who've signed the middle of the year. Position players pitcher pictures, who really struggled, you know, Kenya Morales talk to Ken David off the New York Post the other day, about his situation two thousand fourteen. And said look, I was behind I just couldn't catch up, Greg Holland talked with Bob Nightingale about signing with the cardinals and opening day last year. And he said, you know, I just, you know, everybody else's way ahead of me, and that's what Kyko is walking into. But he's got to perform right away, given his contractual situation. I agree with the premise, he has to perform, especially for his own sake, and moving forward. I also look at Kyko as I do kimbrel. I mean they they may be not at their peak given their ages. But they are coming off seasons in which they have been really, really good ordering on excellent. And I, I don't think because he's he's not a power pitcher. And he relies on off speed stuff and getting ground balls that, that it's going to dramatically impact, if I could be wrong. But I look at Tyco has more of a better bet to return and have success than I would some of the people you just mentioned. And I just wouldn't put him in Kendra Morales class, I think, Dallas Tyco has I don't know, three four good years left in given the way that he pitches, which is to contact with flies in the face of every other organizational decision when it comes to pitching. I think it's I think it's again a better bet than than some of the other folks, that you mentioned, I think his experience, I think his ability to pitch on the big stage. He was the guy that went into gangqi stadium and absently shoved against the Yankees. I think he's, he's a high risk a high reward low risk guy when it comes to a situation like this. I'm BUSTER only. We'll be back with more. The baseball tonight podcast on ESPN radio after this. Hey, Trent excited about the women's soccer showdown, you know, at the US team is on point. What do you think makes him? Someone stoppable I don't know passing shooting defense team worked the ball control.

"Was playing so far away from second base that it took him a, while to get to the bag, and it may be that the giants didn't have a chance to get to anyway, because of marquesses speed, but was hit hard at right to Crawford. But he had to wait Crawford did for Solano to get there. And then Salata was coming towards second base was going to have to pivot and maybe make a jump throw back across his body to I. And that had no chance of working he thought, well, my best chance to get another outage to throw by the kunia almost did work. So to down Marquette is at first on the fielder's choice. Here's Austin Riley, and he blasts wanted to deep left field. This one is gone a liner, right? Over the wall out in a flash, and it's a three run home. Run pasta Riley's Ben in the big leagues for a week. And that's his fourth home run. One against the giants in the first game of this series and that has blown the game open nine to two Braves that hurts. Fastball. Right down the middle. But up, but Austin Riley, that only caught up to it. He just crank did. That thing got outta here. I'd like to put a stop watch in real time on that Z how fast it took for that to make it over the wall. "You don't root for either team is it when the game moves to cable in the late night, network news comes on as it after the major coach speaks to the winning team, or after losing coach gets interviewed Wendy, you tune out Lewis after a championship has been one. I mean my teams are always in the championship game. So. But you answer the question. Yes, sir. Thanks so much, as terrific insight. That's why we pay the big bucks shit for a Super Bowl as a general rule. I will watch to see how drunk, the owner is. And then tag out after that because I don't need to see every now and then you'll get like a cool moment, you'll get like the Kevin Garnett anything is possible, whatever stuff is that your team to know? Cool, remember, right? Yes. But. But yeah. Like, for the most part, I will jump out of that pretty quick. Arm during two or orchids. But I'm in it for is like Robert Kraft showing up and just like oceans of scotch pouring off them and Healing healing. every Ronnie that ever was successful. I this to them. Always in like a crisply tailored suit and then a pair of fucking sketching. The fuck nights on. What a weird guy thing. We didn't learn anything complicating his legacy because like it would make it weird to admire him as much as we do yours so far. I don't know if this is true of everyone, but as I've gotten older I tune out sooner absolutely same because you can if someone fucks up in the post game or like breaks World Series trophy as happened, it'll be online within seconds. So I don't have to, you know, I don't have to sit there and like, personally, sift through the footage myself. Wait for me to actually answer the question I pretty much turn it off, as soon as the trophy has handed off, like I'll, I'll watch casino, especially in, like, in the NBA. They'll have the quick interviews on the court. And then they do the trophy presentation as soon as they give it to the owner. I'm like, okay, I don't need to listen to, you know, whoever old way dude. And then yeah. Sometimes I'll turn it off even earlier if like even if I'm a neutral, you pick a team that you wanna win if they then I'm like. Okay. I'm I don't want to like, I don't want the warriors, accept their seventeenth title is nothing new there. It's that's true too. And I, I also yeah I don't I feel I feel bad when a player is trying to like exult naturally in it, and like, like a silent report comes up like how's it feel you just want wanna championship? Talk about that Disneyland. Yeah. I do like the there have been some good moments that, like NBA. I think more than remember. Ron test shouting out his therapist. That's good shit. I would take more of that. Let's take a break and come right back with the rest of the fund bag. We are bathroom that you ready for the home stretch Lewis. Maybe this is more question for raw, but you get to answer it first dozen writes in have you noticed it. A lot of baseball players. Just look like assholes like guys like guys shitting a urinal, or kick over reporter, potty, Louis. Do agree with that. I do agree with that with the caveat, which is the not. American part of baseball, all seem like lovely dudes and the American part seem like Astles. I think this is kind of fair way. There are different tiers of it. The, the short answer to this question is, yes, I've noticed it. Yes. You're right. But there's different ways of doing it there, used to be more of the like, Brian McCann, like baby-faced police officer look like these kind of like red ask guys that are like you thought it was pretty clever to slow down right after I got you speeding, didn't you, sir. Don't answer that, like that sort of dude, lifeguard, types..

"The struggles post all-star break. The to all swing at a ground ball past the lunging Franco in left field. He went the opposite way and just kind of blocked it your that five and a half whole past the third baseman who was in on the grass. There. Let that travel d put it in play on the left side of the infield. Mike L Franko. He has got a big time art, but doesn't have that creative feet boob and range. And that saying that he was an easy play for third base it, but for a guy that doesn't have real like feet not getting that very often. And now the battle will be Brian McCann. And they'll go with a modified shift Franck obeys feet straight up shortstop the pitch. That's either at the knees for a strike. Is there anybody happier than Brian McCann in the big leagues to be back at Atlanta, just just home? Now, he's home where it all started for these. This is what he wanted. He knew what his contract being up at the end of last year. This is what he wanted to go back home. You'll want. There goes the rotter pitch ended. Derek wrote out a second tag, say Albee's dives. It is you at fourteen steals a season ago picks up the steel there. Tough pitch for real Muto to handle. Jump. Not a slide step at all by Jake Arrieta. So I think that real Bhutto actually did a nice job of making up some time to make that a Bank Bank play at second base. So they all mad at scoring position for the thirty five year old. Mcadoo signed a one year deal for two million dollars. I'll be edging away at second. Here's the bitch. That's inside. Try to chase that cutter. On a chilly night like tonight. Left-hander does not like to see that cutter coming in from the writings most times, it's not hit on the barrel. It's a little bit of a shot at it could stinging. Now the one in there for a strike. There's Brian McCann kind.

"Still takes walks. Like crazy sixteen percent decent strike rate twenty three percent. But that was just awful to thirty four Babb is going to be h thirty six though for Russell Martin. He should rebound, but not to a level where I'm all that interested. And so, yeah, maybe I'm not as scared of that move. I think the name value was making me concerned more than the actual performance. Because I think Barnes is still perfectly viable, so he's going to be somebody. I've got as a C two with some regularity. Let's talk about the Atlanta duo now of Tyler flowers and Brian McCann. And this is what I was saying. I was saying they're all deeply except for. Maybe this duo here, particularly flowers, he and Kurt Zouqi. We're making the best catching tandem in baseball. Now, I'm talking about between two guys. Basically splitting the time. I'm sure that. If you take real Muto, and whatever clown was backing him up. It might be better. Or, you know, Gary Sanchez prior to last year and Austin role mind, they might have you know, you taking the star catcher with the scrub backup. It might have added up to something better. But as far as two guys sharing time flowers Suzuki were incredible. And they might have even been the number one. Even if you do allow those stars with their crummy backup to be included. But the last two years last three years really we've seen flowers be nice asset. Now, you did fall back a little bit last year off of the previous two seasons with the Braves, but to seventy to eighty to twenty seven is average the last three years WRC pluses one ten one eighteen ninety five. So last year was the big fall off, particularly in Bab. He did improve his walk rate though to kind of compensate and keep that OBT at three forty one. So he went to twenty seven three forty one three fifty nine pop dropped off a little bit as well. So we did see a fall off from what he had done in seventeen. But that was still a useful catcher did pop eight homers in his AB. Two games. Let me see what what has value was for Tyler flowers here. Sorry, thumbing through them and through get looking and working. It was only two dollar guy last year..

"Have stopped a new product. I go to reset the company on the Senate in a, but I want to look behind the scenes to see the people how work well there were and what is specific special in the way of production. And this gives me always a lot of inspiration. So my work is a look terrific by draft. But also technologies. All right. So let's move on through the exhibition. I guess that's one challenge would have with the space like this to highlight the coughed side of things how did you kind of a naval it through the inaugur fee and. The setup. Actually selected some of the products we did over the last year. So we want to show different ways of production. We want to show activity materials colors. So we picked actually for products really to focus more in the way of production. So in front of us now is empress Chevy for chairman date on and you see here the Mt. Aluminium frame of the seating shell seventy percent finished one and finished one. And you know, when I have it presentation of store about this collection of people say, oh, they all look the same other done by robots, but it's not the one person weaving at the seating show for four days. So it's really it's about knowledge, but it's also about patient and to be patient. I think very important nowadays because we are not patient anymore. I think we lost it completely now with Emerson. Brian McCann buy something, we send it back. If you don't like, so we also don't have really respect for products demo. And I think this we have to tell people that the people involved they really used the time the knowledge and. It's incredible. How the work. So I go that to the Philippines to see them how they working on this chess. And you've got a quote here saying and objet requires said personality, I mean, what does that mean to you? Why chosen to it was that young one hand? Of course, this person involved in the weaving, but on the other hand opposed to not of products also created by using materials to have nice color combination because colors gift us certain yet personality character to product, and I'm really interested to know from your perspective. I mean, we're looking at three different objects may from completely different materials with a style. That's you know, quite separate for each piece. How does you'll I guess Mark as a designer evolve? With regard to the process of making and working, I guess in collaboration with different brands and different ottesen's. I think it's important that the product at different because companies at different folks to undo years old this year, so happy birthday. Tune it and they asked me to chair for them and tone. It was always very visionary..
