We'll give them help, Mike. I know you will. Brian lynch here on HR N yeah, you know, it's a great story, right? And everybody that listens to this program knows how high I was on classic causeway going into the Tampa Bay Derby. He delivered. And then that head scratching performance at Gulfstream park in the Florida Derby. It did. It was shades of holy bolt to me. You remember holy bull backing up was the fountain of youth when he backed up and finished through the field after flipping his palate. When a horse flips his palate, they can't get air. They can't breathe. And so they just stop running to protect themselves, obviously. And that's what it looked like to me. And knowing everything is good with classic causeway physically, and hearing Brian say that he's happy with the workouts, gives me confidence that, okay, he's at least back to the classic causeway we saw in the Tampa Bay Derby. Is that good enough to win The Kentucky Derby next week? I don't know. Is he fast enough? Brian said he's going to sit just off the pace if he has to. He's confident that he'll rate and he will. You look at his past performances and he can rate. But is he fast enough? Is he, is he going to be fast enough at that mile and a quarter? To where the roses. That's the big question. We don't know. We'll find out next Saturday. It's going to be one heck of a Kentucky Derby. "A river that runs right through it, that average is about 26 inches of annual rainfall, so it's really rolling pastures. And more of a Lexington, Louisville type. Gotcha. Landscape. It was a great place to grow up. Really good place. You know, I grew up around the track there and I worked there around a horse trader there because I got, you know, never going to be big enough to be a jockey, so I got interested in riding the rodeo sort of scene and there was a host rider in that town that had an arena and some back and balls and some back and horses as a young kid. I got very interested in that once I realized that I was never going to be small enough to be a jockey. The rodeo scene, that was what brought you to the U.S., right? It wasn't that you came over here to train racehorses. Now I originally came over to join try and make a living on the rodeo circuit. Not that I was ever set the world on fire, but I had a great number of our own over here for about 7 years full time. And I was young and fearless and enjoyed a good time, not that I still don't. But yeah, it was great. We wrote it out everywhere from Calgary stampede to Fort Lauderdale from the Madison Square gardens to the coliseum in Los Angeles. It was a lot of miles and a lot of wonderful Friends, a lot of them to this day, I'm still in contact and got will and we make it to the Derby. We're going to be there with me. So the union. The transition into training. I know you were into it into the 90s and early 2000s. It was not a quick launch to success your career, right? Like there was some years there where it was not a lot of starts, not a lot of wins. No, I was, you know, you're grinding it out, and Hollywood park way back then. And. You had Charlie whittingham, Ronnie mcinally. You know, Mandela was young, that's what was getting rolling. It wasn't an easy scene to break into. So I done a lot of wheeling and dealing and selling and slipping and just done when I, whatever I had to do to grind out 11 to stay in the game. And throughout all that, I was, you know, I got very friendly with Bobby Franklin. And I was very fortunate enough to get very friendly with Jack van Berg and Ron McEnany. So I was blessed to have three guys there that I, you know, when I think back about it now, small country town cowboys from Waldo walk I got these three legends and was able to get the three of them together to go and have breakfast with me at different times and I know I think how do you get a Jewish Brooklyn class horse trainer and an orphan from Kentucky in an abrupt and cowboy. These three guys have been colleagues of each other for many years but they never really knew each other. Yeah. So I was able to bring them into a circle where they really we had a really a lot of fun together. And we'd enjoy these breakfasts that we that I'd put together and I'll get the three of them to sit down and I really wish they had it under tape now, but Bobby was always a big supporter of mine and when I did get started to get rolling in Southern California I picked up the camp legal times and so they were pretty solid at the time and I started getting quite a few horses for them and then John may be passed on and Bobby started to get a lot of two year olds and I'd had some success to some two year olds and he knew that I was more than capable of handling a string of them and so he asked me when mister maybe died and he sort of got me a heads up that that outfit's gonna dance. So I said, be prepared to lose some horses and he sort of took me into coming and working for him. So I jumped on a plane with 26 horses and left California and flew into upstate New York and jumped on track to them horses and went to Sarah Targa. And I think back now probably one of the best moves I've ever made and I thank you every day because the exposed me to a lot of good horses and a lot of high profile owners and sort of set up the next stage of my career if I could take it to the next level. In the next stage was a lot of it was it would bind. That was kind of where I first started to see your name pop up quite a bit. I mean, did you have any experience going up to what Biden did? You lived in Toronto before and what was it that kind of led you up there because it did seem like that was kind of when things really took off for you. Yeah. We had at the time when I went to work for Bobby. We had had ghost pepper and he just won the British cup plastic at lone star. And palm Meadows had just opened as an auxiliary track for Gulfstream park here in South Florida. So Bobby sent his first vision of horses.

"Dunkin hines Exhibit at the At the kentucky museum which is on the grounds of western kentucky And so i went and went to that and Really enjoyed it Then i stopped at the rail park which i didn't even know that was i sort of discovered And you know the remnants of the louisville and nashville line the old featured prominently by the way in brother where art thou. What did you stop thirty places as the client to be lincoln's birthplace. I saw the sign on the drive to back to louisville on sunday morning. I did see the the lincoln homestead. Whatever this is that a point of contention was born at every exit on the bluegrass parkway borna dinosaur park i. It was built on top of his birth slaves. Several log cabins scattered around. Yeah it's amazing amazing conception a it was born on several occasions I did also see in fact. Brian lynch got a kick out of it. You know lynch had a a very good Weekend to close out kentucky down and we talked about it on monday. And there's there's that kentucky down under i guess they got kangaroos and koalas. And and right willie yeah. yeah well. Hey brian would non that yeah. Yeah yeah he might have picked up. Some bottled hillary fits. There's a slight chance that wouldn't have made it back to his house Impact where one one day. I got a chance to say hi to talk a little. Bit too frank. Lyons who's handling julien lepers book and As you might imagine. He and lynch together Sandra sanford exactly exactly too funny. Well it it's a big week to have you gone over the sale at all i. I am not a united decided to you know in my advanced stage to maybe stay away from super spreader advanced but I haven't been over there. Certainly monitoring it closely. It is It is just an awful day-to-day it. It's one of those days. Where i it still looks like. It's eleven o'clock at night. You know in the middle of the day at just pouring rain and All kinds of stuff. So it's it's not the most pleasant day but you know these are the kind of days where people go out to the sale because they think nobody else is going to because the weather's so bad and they're gonna get straight crisis and it turns out there was like twelve. Find more people than there would be on. It's funny 'cause everybody's thinking the same But my god the Certainly look healthy out there. And i particularly taken note of the Justify yearlings and man they are. I'll cover for your brother. Oh i looked today and there still seems to be a little daylight anyway a little. You still got me by a couple of hundred. i'm. I'm lucky but a little bit. I know i feel you feel you're On you though. I'm not giving up. I know yeah i lie down and you walk. Thanks for having me on. You gotta step it up a bit. Yeah you got the is going to have a lot of iraqi all right. Brian takes the unbelievable. How fun a rusty. Maybe maybe it's just because it was my first time there. And i was sort of you know giddy and just thought it was such a terrific venue but it sure seemed like everybody's in a good mood over there. Yeah it's just two more relaxed atmosphere. I mean i. I walked into the bar. I look and i don't know him. Well but i was getting my horse. Ready to come over and see. Dick men bill with a pair of jeans and a shirt on. I'm used to seeing him on tv coat. Tie and Just seems like when you get there. You kind of adapt to the atmosphere and relax. Particularly i thought on thursday saturday was a little bit more stepped up with all the great steaks and so forth but on thursday at and the way the thing is set up i know i know some of the horse player in fans or a little little put out this year with the way things were were broken up and where the general mission went but the the group that you know basically was going back and forth to the paddock. It was sorta like a like a horsemen's convention. It was every everybody looked at Was was horsemen in their family. And then the end of the owners and It it's terrific set up. I know they're going to. They're going to reintroduce the the general mission for next lawyer. Yeah they're they're gonna fix that And people back on that side next year but I i thought it was. I thought it was really fun and You certainly had a terrific week. Yeah we had a very good week. makes it more fun. Probably but Yeah i didn't have to deal with any of those issues which elected i wasn't aware of them but They're they're usually a such a fan friendly place. Buddy you know loves to be there Again it's just such a laid back atmosphere. I've been going there for about twenty five years or so and It's it's just a fun place to go is different. And it's a different type. Of course. I think sometimes you don't know which horses are going to show up. And which ones aren't because of the course but It if they like it you have a big day. I i asked this the other week Last week when we came out of that i The first couple of days. I had pablo met gone. And he's brought a couple of different horses and run successfully for you. What what's your criteria that to bring a horse or at least to have an expectation that they're going to like it and run. Well well i. I really don't know the javan exact when you kind of like get ready and hope That they're gonna take to the course of been lucky to write one of liked it and You know the better the horses and everybody knows they usually show up everywhere anyway. You don't have to carry their course with them Of all the horses. I took down there though. Cellist was probably my my biggest chance. And he ran a ran third but It the When when i show up they show up and it pays off. Well paid off with gear. Jockey let's talk about the million dollar turf sprint On saturday and we were talking afterward you you made it very clear. This was your goal. And you know you weren't worried about what's going to come next door breeders cup anything else. This was your goal for the middle part of the year and started planning it in spring. And then you went out and executed to perfection. Was one of those plans fell together. We kind of circle brisk race with salted. it would fit this horse distance. Wise not course was we were more thinking of distance and It worked we It he got there and ordered data show up. Did i see the race coming. That he ran probably not thought he was gonna run very well just because he had done well at saratoga. His last work was spectacular. But then i got into paddock and i. I won't forget telling us you know really looks good at ease. And he's really acting well but so were about eight others in here. I just looking at in. And i mean it was a grade one race. I you've got marksville. Who is is an accomplished philly. As we've seen she just beat the boys and one right after another were just Really really top horses and They came from california. They came from new york. They came from the midwest and they all came together. Grew very much and you know one thing that should be. I haven't even mentioned Because we were focused on the winners. As i gave a quick survey of of Saturday in particular and sunday Behind gear jacky diamond oops ran a tremendous race. And we had andy Being conan on friday and she said that He had really been galloping enthusiastically on the course and and she you know she knows him better than anybody. And it's her number one source for for patrick and It should be noted also bombard ran a courageous third in here To you know to stay on and This this that's a nice of sidelines but gear jockey dominated this and jose lescot road him rusty like he was six to one. He wrote him like he was Four to five yeah. He wrote him well since he's been on him. He really liked the horse he got on him at saratoga loved him And kind of told me throw out the race at the troy. We didn't get away good. That didn't get a clean trip than he says He'll.

"She's twenty. She's introduce producer over the years to you know. I don't think she's trying. A lot of black taught vote. Looked like they ran out a little bit of money i. It's funny early on. She had a long career herself on the racetrack. Didn't to go into service until two thousand seven and they better three straight times to greatness and they got two nice winners including thirteen time winner. Great ask that and then for the love of lil and then there were a couple of a couple of unraced uncle abbey's an unraced courageous cat then was and slipped and now suddenly has got a big orders a half a million dollar earner and a four time winner in toby's heart. Mazing never know that some people you know what some people. After after a five year period with three unraced horses and a slip and and An uncovered peop- some people would have given up and instead You end up with with this with this nice horse and Was what for a forty five thousand dollars. Two year old in training sale purchase at bs march last year. Yeah Alice derived picked up and Terrier told me dialysis got some horses. You wanna go and have a look at and so. Alice showed me the horses. Cool terry back and i said if you got a boy any of them by the jack newton if you boyhood also in a with you. So that's how come bet. Belinda up we end up buying her and military were partners and then as she got rolling a little bit Tomlin board into a. He's still jack and so he's gotta brian skill stake in the game to You know what she stallion producing north strikes like this and and you no. I had to get some guided strikes on it. Which i think she can do. I might be wrong. Maybe she's like grinding screener yard. But i think can get them mall and beyond so long detroit debt. I love at toby's heart and And in fact. I should mention gary barber. Speaking gary gary The toba owner of the year Saturday at The tow awards. And that was ellendale. I would've loved to have gone but but he his money app. Knee loves the sport and Great god well and You know not that. not that. Seth clark doesn't You know wasn't voted for seth Several years in a row I you know gary barber. The last couple of years could very easily have been As worthy and eclipse award certainly was worthy of being a finalist and This this was a very nice Nod in his direction Third winner of the kentucky downs season was honor hop For the for the hills and This honor code second win For her she's very honest. Sort of one pice die. I'm gonna she loved the she loved that she loved the kentucky down in fact she Leading up to the rice show ronna the who severely and didn't run to the good and i went back to the bond and she could see the track and she got a stood up in store. I'm thinking son hilmi gonna deal with this. So let's give her a bath. And i took her out the back kentucky dan a drop ahead and pick graph and she just think compressed in then row that right before. I put the bottle on the paddock. If there's a theory that you bet horses eat grass before they run a blue door. She writes for there on the half for rent. That's funny but she calmed down and she was good to saddle and Because you can be a little bit of a handful set Showed up that night because she run very comfortably to well. That was that was the mile five sixteenth allowance. Yup all the way around and one wins by a comfortable margin eighty-three buyer as well for her and Brian the there's been there's been a wrath of of winter's here The last two three weeks and that includes back at saratoga that that first time starter. Classic causeway how did he come out of the debut win yet. Good come out of his rice very likely and You know he being there. Two good friends of mine from california bred him and He was just a pleasant surprise from winning. Come in you know. He's he was always. A horse is love to try and happy be around the buying just just lovely host to work with and every time you were just kept getting better and So he's one of the last joint coz wise. I think there's only one called out this so it's nice to see come with another round because i think this was potentially is very very nice. Awesome good stack hmeydan allowance at saratoga that diana yvonne united it took it took it to him. Guyton wire and foods like went further. He one boy so is true with that. I think he ran like a naughty boy. Saw who ran him in the british security over there at kingland and Hopefully shell that's what he wants to do. But i've always felt that he's gonna be at his best to turn so i'd be proved me right because he could be a potentially in other to cup juvenile. And again he was to run. Well i think he's a horse. It's just that you know. "I watched only replace and in case you missed it since last year. Ea eeg les. Pinnacles was good that that was very satisfying start to the season. Well we're starting here and we gotta get brian lynch in first and Case let's see. I i'll play around here. I don't know what Exactly i'm just. I'm yeah i'm gonna go ahead and try triumph but I hope i don't have an issue hearing him. It's so funny. I had the music before Before the show and then as soon as we started i There we go all right. I got it. I got there was a setting. I didn't notice route. I pack this thing in a. I got a funny story while we wait for lynch. Pack the printer which comes with me and and the the soundboard so a lot of times the dials get moving around yesterday. And i i've got tse tsa pre check but And years some some points they used to look at the you know they. They look at the printer. They'd look at the keyboard the the soundboard so yesterday they pull a bag out and but it wasn't. It wasn't the bag with the computer you know with all the equipment it was my briefcase and it was because i had stopped yesterday on the way to louisville to the you know to standard although mohammed ali i should say and i stopped franks Breslin and i got a container of of francs fabulous pork barbecue. The tsa was. What's in that container barbecue from. Franks and they said oh all right i. I was nervous for a minute. Because i thought you know bottles of shampoo. They take away. So i thought oh my god. They're not gonna take my my franks barbecue. So they didn't they didn't they. They said okay. We understand that no that would have been a tragedy. You kidding me the guy. Actually the one guy said the guy that looked in the bag. A two pound two pound deli container and the guy said oh nothing wrong barbecue. I said you ever go to. Frank's he goes. I used to said i. I used to go to frank. I haven't been in a while i said. Can you know cameras. Franks that That was yesterday's yesterday's. I can't call it with an incident with with. Tsa wasn't there. We go out a lot of people that came to kentucky. Downs had fun. Nobody had more fun than brian. Lynch and i can testify to that. Because i i was. I had a front row seat. As brian particularly on thursday wins with the two year. Old red dragon. Red danger i should say and Then comes back yesterday. Toby's heart to wins brian. There half a million dollars. That little meet in orissa kept gallon. Well it was a pretty. It was a pretty good week for you. Down there and Really everything is almost everything you sent out seemingly was live. Yeah it was a good week. It's such a great guy you know it's such a great little kind of down. It gives you that country feel and the millions very very much. I like country rice in charlotte. I get a real data. And the obviously the first structure and some relocated here to kentucky last couple the sort of stuff to work the circuit absence join not have ratio horses at saratoga and you know come out of there with healthy fish losses Issue things really went at why because we had you know spot to these horses in mind. This You know it's when it comes to fruition well and and we actually. We joked about that. When i saw you on thursday even before the juvenile sprint race. About how you came alive late in the media saratoga will probably talk about those horses in a minute but before we do anything else you mention the similarity to this. You know this country course and the first person. I saw thursday. When i was there when i got there was rusty arnold and wilkes actually seen was the first person after the show that i talked to. An aide said the exact same thing. He said he said. This is a lot like you know some of these rambling courses. You see with with the with the sort of rickety fences climate exactly relaxing. The gang there is. I damn visit australia bombs. We should have hired a few. They've and turned the mood. That it's so funny i saw that. I didn't notice that driving down because it was nighttime. When i when. I got to louisville on wednesday to drive down to franklin but then driving back yesterday i saw that same thing they call it kentucky. Down under down under kentucky was classic. Pretty funny well. Let's say that that In wilkes had the same head basically the same thought about the carnival atmosphere. So young really doesn't really reminded me of you know country rising. Well start with red danger on thursday and we talked about this race on on the show thursday and it seemed to me ryan. That is if you've got an orb two year old. That wins in its second start going five and a half that that boat i thought go really well for for what to expect here and certainly certainly he took plenty of money This is silverton hill. This was a seventeen thousand dollar This was what a wheeling for seventeen thousand. Yeah beliefs wasn't healing roy Let's see twenty one. This is a two year old so don't wailing nineteen. Yeah no no no. I'm sorry. yeah that's right that's right. that's right. Nineteen so bamber. November keeneland The breeding sale yet like Hag border for the thir Tomlin bunny hamilton there. So he's done a very good job. pick any map because he He definitely going to a level looking horse. But we had the chance to go out there and pick a few to our and He was one of them and the other one was that static fire which is affiliated want saratoga to so To me he's just a beautiful little compact so to count that. I've had a lot of lac. Wisconsin install solar horses. Sam and they stand up the training really will so i really didn't look at his integrates maps because all the you know the a champion shed yet I was more going on the individuals and he Is trying very full it and and you know you try and good on the debt that we ultimately charged him on the first time and it was sort of grain rice. She took a took some dirt early and it was sort of a even rice. She made a bit of a middle move and and then to the hand..

I saw that she's hand carrying authentic so a bittersweet. Whatever whenever you get an operation a we saw this of course with samson. It's tough when you see one of the one of the real hallmark names and operations pulling back but invariably when it comes to this invariably these families end up with a new owners that understand the the value. And you know it's augmenting. Their own broodmare bans. So i'm sure they're all in good hands and still hartsville sad to see when when you have. These guys. dispersals the racing back to the racing. We have plenty of time to talk sale and saturday. We'll hear from. We'll hear from a nice variety at least three of not just the weekend but the The kentucky downs parties that were successful and there was a there was a terrific mix on that front. I this morning and on thursday he won the that juvenile sprint with red danger. The orb that we talked about with lewis. And i got that great picture what he was telling telling frank. Lyons it's a half a million dollars. Well i don't know if he did it again yesterday. Because i obviously i come home but i didn't have to come home but i came home I struggled i struggled. I gave i gave keelan real consideration going at keeneland and spending the part of the week maybe the first couple of days but a little too much the and dad got. Yeah yeah that's almost easier probably to cover this particularly to cover the sale from here The the second wind for lynch came yesterday with toby's heart and it was. It was also half a million dollars so a very productive run at kentucky. Downs for for brian lynch seven. Starters three wins two seconds pretty pretty outstanding And they were quite a few records including rusty arnold. We'll talk to rusty and it was geared jockey and and not only was gear jockey in that turf sprint the million dollar turf sprint. It was really a masterful job by rusty who this assignment circled. And this was the target literally since spring That everything was geared back literally. Jackie literally circled this date and work backwards and planned everything. And you know the horsemanship obviously things can you can get tripped up easily. I mean any any morning and he day and he gallup any kick of stall can throw you off but this was really executed brilliantly and gear jockey throttled that excellent group career best effort. There were quite a few career. Best efforts in fact at kentucky downs. How 'bout hendy woods for marchesi in the one dreamer. I i know. I mentioned it on thursday afternoon after the wind but That was that was a big effort or friday. I guess i mentioned it. The they wrote out tell you i. I made a list today i. I'll put out the the full buyer list of of the keelan gaylon of the kentucky downs results with the stakes waiting for yesterday's three steak figures but there were quite a few super impressive performances. We'll talk to paolo. Haven't talked apollo way too long and as we said with hammer i think on friday i brought up. I always bring up. "You've got. I think you got the bad bobby and having it wasn't a bad bob but I i didn't know if we got there or not. But he had his nose now when he counted It worked out while the source showed us some run last fall And then giving us enough. He gave us an confidence to put him on a plane and go to california with him. Ranch it's a little bit flat out there and then we brought him back and Seven and a half. I think the first level allowances a seven and a half and it just was not enough ground for him that day and and he rebound well. The other day it was it was a nice race off the way off. He's a half the british hit him and one that obviously honestly doesn't care much for the dirt when training on it but he does take to the grass much better. Well a couple of other Let's touch on a couple of other State performers and get some updates and of course A a a fairly loaded wagon. Brad cox with us Give us some updates on manned lunar and caddo river about both are doing really well man to learn how to i. Work since the risen star this past weekend He'll have another. He'll he'll have work this weekend leading up to the louisiana derby Caddo river His last works at his been fantastic. He's pointing for the rebel He'll have another work this weekend. Fairgrounds and then shipped to oaklawn but couldn't really be asking either horse to do any better Kc rivers last two works. Expend really off the charts. I mean just really training well and you know showing us exactly what you wanna see when you're going to do running in a a great steak rice so He he obviously has experienced. "You know couldn't ask for for You know him to be doing any better leading up to the south west and then after the southwest and and you know everything like louis just the way wrote him in the race. I mean he was able to. You know african to go get in a position than shut offs going out the back side and then range up and you know kick on down the lane without really being You know obviously ask but not really gotten after so You know he he he has that mentality. I think that you know. Hey i mean roderick can ask him to be involved and then shut off and then you know placing wherever. He needs to be to be effective in a race. Well he he's been effective of every time you've let him over that That's a nice. That's that's a nice situation. I'm sure you saw a lot of the handicapping and discussion going into the race. And including for me i. I kind of thought that jackie's warrior coming back in this spot and Potentially especially over the wet track having an opportunity to get a strategic edge. And maybe you know maybe have a an easy and loose lead Plus you know being you being down inside and potentially you know knowing that you know this is not the end goal but you know how. How much did you know. How much of that did you see and think about and how. How important was it to win this or or was it just a case of you know. Let's get this portion of the season kicked off. It was one of the things where i mean. Obviously ordering the form like a lot of people and thinking you know if obviously jackie's warriors a fantastic course and he's a bill greg on winter too and and You know favoring the breeders cup so deserve to be accomplished so much super short period of time and you know there was definitely a question as to there would be much pace up front if he could get loose Like you said sloppy track money. I always a little nerve wracking Running monoploy girl for me anyway just because of her a great record and we're just trying to keep it intact and and yeah she's She's special really ran a big rate so it was a little concerned. Maybe at the quarter paul. She didn't come up to those horses quite as easy as thoughts You know she seemed to get over the tracks find But the way she was impressive late. I mean she really kicked away from those horses Really in the blink of an actually went from being head with them to being. Three in front You know so quick And then you know. She just did her usual. I don't wanna get too far away from the company So you know it was a positive to build off of. We got the one inner off the lay off and you know. I think that you know like we've set for a while now. The the apple blossoms are short term goal and She has one. We did shift back to fairgrounds and trainer there in preparation for the apple blossom. Very nice and the you know the the opportunity to have her back as a six year old with something of a you know of happy luxury. Yeah for sure. The happy luxury surpri a surprise for show well and of course The my race worse team At over gulfstream The the return of stormy as well so both of Both of those projects Successful Through the weekend a couple of other. Let's hit a couple of other names and and performances. I i don't know from betting standpoint. If you thought about it this way. But i i was a little surprised owen. Dale was as fancied As he was in the razorback i didn't. It didn't seem on paper that that he was supposed to be even money in there now. He didn't like he was even money either but he ran well. I think he had a little bit of You know down inside. Probably not the best place of the racetrack. We're gonna you know. Just obviously not his greatest performance but it wasn't bad he came out and good order. He's very sound hoarse and run. I think twenty one times now. So you know. We'll continue to press for him. Not sure where he'll land up ended up the handicap not necessarily On the agenda or locally. Yeah yeah it's a possibility. She ran a really big race kind of Hopped into start and somewhat missed the break and in our plan was to kind of maneuver to the outside and then i think that's everybody else was playing with the middle of the tracks floor. I just had to take what was given to him. You know You know stay on the inside but she really finished up. well does surface horse and things she. She met matched figures From her last start in the allowance to her. Start here on This weekend on sunday. That i'm sorry. Yeah sunday That you know shoulder sheets. She can run on both services so that gives us a lot of confidence and options. Moving forward well. So on on sunday there was the arkansas bread group in the down the dusty road and vijay the defending winner made plenty of sense and and she took a lot of the money but the mary rose she figured and at seven to two I gotta be happy. "On. Stevia kind of You know good to get some relief some pressure with getting through the weekend and the weather for sure well and explain that i kinda hinted at this. You know when you've got horses of this quality and you know you do have schedules. And you've got goals in mind you know. Certainly the ones. I central quality are are chiseled in stone. The ones for montgomery girl probably a little bit more fluid although the apple blossom there's a great one intermediate goal When when you're dealing with racetrack that are just inundated. Wet and loose and a mess it. It's distressing I mean you talk about you know getting through and then you know watching to make sure that you know nothing's gonna miss after their performances and there's obviously the weather hot springs was hit with more snow than they've ever seen or more slowly fina in one hundred years so if Was it was kind of you. Know tough to get through the. I'd say the middle of february through the indus february given the weather and the postponement of the races but And i i don't think it really affected either horse It certainly didn't seem to They both are in their races. you know and and came out of in good shape so like you said it was just kind of good to get the first step for for both horses. And they're twenty twenty one km pain Kind of out of the way. These are racist. We've been targeting for You know basically since Really probably december Essential quality probably right after the breeders. Actually since the first in november so you know this was our first step towards you know. our march for the triple crown in modern worst case short-term goals apple blossom regarding essential quality. And you you made it clear early on in fact. Jimmy bell said this on monday that you had expected and and were planning for two preps what before derby what goes into that decision. And how you know. How do you essentially gauge. Let's say in december that you know that the horse only is going to need to come back and run twice You know what goes into that why they're all different right. I mean i guess it just depends on what they have accomplished. But you know i think with a horse like essential quality. You know showed brilliant from early on as far as being able to win going through recorders and then stretching out at the great one level to mama sixteenth and then back quick and the breeders cup. So i mean we do a lot of this horse over very short period of time. He handled it all with flying colors and honestly got better the more we did with him so that they give me confidence moving forward. That like if this is our kentucky derby horse or you know if he's taken of course you know he got so much out of his two year old campaign in such a short period of time you know we would definitely want juice lemon and you know having the best he could be hopefully the first saturday in may and You know i just felt like you know to to racist race off of you. Know somewhat of a layoff not like not as if he was turned out For thirty days or anything he stayed in light training afla breeders cup and and continue to march forward and just thought it was the best game plan for him I like the idea of him being at the fairground shipping to oak lawn. And they'll back to the fairgrounds. I mean you know. It's it when these horses can handle things like that. It gives you confidence that they're going to be able to handle large crowds Hopefully large car large crowd derby day In and and can you know big fields. You know that they can handle everything thrown at them. that comes along with the trail. So That's just where i felt. He was competent. Jimmy was on board with it. The good often team was on board with with you know the to starts And i think it you know so far. It's worked out extremely offering. How has he grown changed. since november You know he he's really I think he's gross filled out a good bit He's you know he's he's always been a very Smart forward horse He's always a lot of confidence and just honestly just seeing more of the same He he's he's just he just never seems to get tired. You gives you a lot of confidence. Working gallup outs are always really good and i. It just comes easy to him. Really just a very gifted horse was he liked to be around the off hours. He pretty good. I mean he. He's he's a colt You know i mean he. He really likes peppermint. He's definitely spoiled but he definitely You know he's a cold. I mean he he's he'll he'll jump on you or or you know. Take a bite out of if you allow him to but he he's he's aggressive but he's a very smart horse we we just called him one period oaklawn. Sometimes we school. You know two days out day out of the race but you know he. He did well enough. And i felt like just watching him. Two days out schooling you know. He was sharp enough on his toes. Didn't really take that away from me and You know he was really good. Race day handled everything extremely well and just.

And i haven't even asked about a scan and and what you know what what's coming failure or colt. But laura has got her down there and she's actually she's going to be. He's going to be delivering here in the next few weeks. And we've also with the retirement of carlisle bell. She's there waiting for What we're gonna do coverage wise with her. And in fact she i think she may go to kentucky but that's not that's not written in stone yet But laura is gonna join us as well. As his stallion manager erin robinson and talk about the program at rock ridge and lorraine is one of the most respected managers owners purveyors of you know boarding and maintenance of of broodmares and then on the stallion side of things has really assembled a outstanding regional lineup. and in fact with doug o'neill just yesterday.
