"That gave russ. It's it's ridiculously deep. Actually mean as i'm looking down this like we didn't mention to allow cover. Oh he'd a wonderful bubble he really good. I mean i think he should be. He played like you should be in. Somebody's rotation Even tyler johnson came back. And i thought looked really really good in the bubble. I was surprised he didn't get any looks. I mean he was overstretched and so those games because he just had to run too much pick and roll like he was shooting at while. He plays hard like he's could be the fourth guard offers. somebody's bench. Who's actually decide. I was just. I was really surprised. No one was interested in him at all after what he did in the boat because he was a good player before he started just falling apart. And getting all these injuries in miami and phoenix. So he's back to. They really got like depth coming out their ears here back to what you said about green. I've seen this about markeith. Moore's with the lakers to the lakers. Have all these centers and yet. They probably had their most success in their championship year. With mark if morris stretching the floor and giving them a little. Bit more billy mobility next to anthony davis and i. I think jeff greene might be the same next to kevin durant for the reasons you talked about where they just especially in the playoffs. Like the needed. Other option like jared allen deandre jordan. I think a very instructive example to me was the celtics series against the sixers last year. Where jason tatum. Carrier kyrie irving kemba walker coming off high screens. Joel embiid lane back. And they just got torched like giving up above the break. Threes off the dribble. Anybody who can hit that shot. I don't know like deondraye definitely can't really do much about that You know especially if you've got career katie trying to get through that screen. It's really going to be ugly. So it may be. Jared allen can get out on the floor a little bit more as you mentioned with mobility. But that's still you really would like to be able to switch if you've got k. d. at the four and green at the five to just and as we saw second round of the playoffs and beyond. You can't play that conventional Defense that the offense are just too good. You're getting it lit up. So i think especially at the end of games i. My guess would be the jeff. Green is going to close a lot of games for these teams the team at center. I agree wholeheartedly. I thought that was a really shrewd pickup. Really sure it is. I mean especially when you consider how little you had to spend and how much you know surge was going get elsewhere and you look and you say we'll i need to fill this role and this is all i have to fill it with. What can i get. I thought that was really sri pickup and there may be games where the match up isn't needed but air. Lada games where he's going to have to be in. Your fish is just will because of the way your teams constituted so yeah i think he'll play and tlc. Ntil sees trending tyler johnson. I agree with you offensively. But despite despite the way he played offensively as well as he played offensively in the bubble. I think he was a minus. Seventy three something. That should give you an idea how bad he was defense. Right i will. I will see you on that. Because i can't say i was watching the nets incredibly closely in the bubble once. They wrapped up their playoff seeding. I was going on. You know the fact that he plays hard and that he used to be good before. So does a yeah. I don't. I don't think it's for lack of trying. I just don't think he's. I'm not sure that he's the same player that he was physically. Whatever two years ago two and a half years ago. I don't use now. I'm not saying also that he can't get back to that. I'm just saying right now. The way the nets constituted they have a lot of school. Forget gig i mean. They have scoring in their backward. Even getting the most potent office of thread in katie. I mean between kyrie harris and spencer and landry can shoot a would they desperately need is some guys on the perimeter that guards. That's why i'm thinking. Okay if it comes to playing minutes between brown and tyler if you only have one spot left in your rotation assuming we're not going thirteen we were trying to limit this to whatever can on a regular basis or something like that. That's why saying that. Bruce might have an edge. But you know we haven't seen that much so who knows. Maybe maybe i'm wrong thinking so any other Big strengths for this team. That we haven't talked about yet as we start. Tilting our way towards Making prediction on the season. Well i mean just the obvious that they do have a lot of primary ball handlers and they do have a lot of positional versatility Discounting the fact. Obviously that neither dj. Nor jared based the basket but elsewhere they have tons of positional. Versatility guys One or the two or two in the three. They don't have that many guests that are legitimate. Three and four other than maybe. Like i say torian rodents but for the most part. They're pretty versatile Physician positionally so. I would say those are strengths that i'm looking at plus just debts a lot of death. Yeah you can rest guys and you can put the bones of a team out there. That was was basically. Been a five hundred team over the past couple of years without career katie. And that's that's a pretty nice route to have right right. And i think there will be those nights. You'll look back to backs or nights where you know. Whatever katie play thirty four karen entira played thirty three n. They're playing somebody two nights after that and they just don't play but yet you can actually put a representative team of their own Yeah i think weaknesses. We talked about just the the overall defense obviously and the strength is 'isolation scoring but they don't have a ton of passing on this team. That's something that you. I don't expect this to be beautiful ball movement basketball lots of player movement and they you know they probably don't need that. They got spacing and they got to great creators. And actually i mean you can even say four if you wanna third dinwiddie and in there as well. So they don't need to reinvent the wheel offensively but if you're looking for like oh we're going to run all this great action..

"Post's Brian Lewis, who covers the Nets and the N Befor the paper Brian, Thanks for the time, no problem. So DeAndre Jordan has tested positive for Corona virus says he's out of the restart, even though there would be time for him to recover and entered the bubble. Spencer Din witty has not made clear yet his plans but knowing what we know about Kyrie Irving being so public about how he doesn't believe players should go play. Kevin Durant sort of supporting that. And having said that he won't will not make a return. Do you think there's a shot that the Nets don't even go to the restart? No. I mean, I think I think they're going to go. I have no idea at this point. What a team that they're going to send. Will look like Because, as we see things change pretty quickly, so there's a lot of time between now and when they get on that plane on the seven go to Florida. Even more time until they would actually theoretically open. So I think they're going to go. But that's going to be decimated Roster by the time they actually start playing Brian, there was all the talk about Kyrie Irving talking to players on understand the coalition is doing some really important things, but Through the coalition became talks of some stuff that I don't know how much truth was too about starting another league. But more importantly to the moment we're talking about now is guys not going down to play simply because it didn't feel right with everything going on in the world. In terms of unrest. Where does that stand within that roster? Because I was hearing things like guys prior to finding out about Cove it we're very much on the fence about maybe wanted to go for that very reason within that within a franchise. So, um, Here's the thing. Kyrie, As you know, is always going to speak his mind on. He's not going to necessarily Her tail with coming out of his mouth. Somebody else's benefit, so I think the net like a lot of teams had guys that were coming at things from somewhat different angles. Right. It's not like Everybody on every team always feels the same way. So some guys were looking at things from the point of view. Hey, if I'm the last guy on the roster, or if I need to go to ensure my place in the NBA, and that's what I have to do. And then other guys were thinking in terms of OK, generational wealth in the black community so forth and so on. Everybody had their own take, and everybody had their own way that they came at it. I think what you have to, I guess. Bear in mind is that if they weren't having those discussions like Michele Roberts was pointing out. If you don't have those discussions, then that's what's disappointing. At this point, you've got to make sure everything is on the table and everybody's talking and everybody's point of view is being heard. I think the nets or just a microcosm about I think the net, sir. The same is probably a lot of other teams. Talking to Brian Lewis of The New York Post. He covers the Nets in the N B. A We're hearing now. This is more of Ah stew gots type reporting than Adrian will drastic If that gives you a feeling it's not a reporting so much is like I heard this thing and it might be true. But I'm rolling with it anyway, because I want to ask you if it sounds believable. The idea that Kyrie Irving would say to some of the younger guys, Listen, we don't have a shot out there anyway, so I don't want you to play. If you're a part of this nets team and the future going forward with me and Katie when we're actually gonna be at full strength. This was more of a gap year anyway. I don't want you to muddy the waters on the protest off. To be a part of what we're doing. Don't go. Can you see that actually happening? I suppose it's possible. I hadn't heard that. I I'm not going to sit here and tell you that it's that it's impossible and Like I said, if that's what Kyrie feels. Kyrie is going to say. Fire is not going to censor things. He's going to speak on what he feels. So if he actually felt that way, I don't doubt that he would express that. Two younger teammates, one of the first things that Sean Mark has said about Tyree and that other people the necessary that listen, he's He's going to speak his mind, because mind ownership is going to speak his mind to the front office, and he's going to speak his mind to his teammates. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I hadn't heard that nobody's come to me and said Hey, you know, Kyra. Suggesting to some of these younger guys that they stay home. But I I certainly wouldn't rule it out as being impossible. Brian, Let's talk about the product that we may see down there in the bubble. If this bubble doesn't need happen, which none of us quite frankly know if it's possible, But we shall see this team feels like a Spencer did what he does not go becomes the carousel. Avert Show Caris Levert. Proved himself to be in route to being a super star in this league and then injuries held him back, and he still gain footing as a six man for this team and fully capable, especially when the ball is in his hands..

Showtime's 'The Loudest Voice' Tells The True Story Of The Downfall Of Roger Ailes At Fox News

"The loudest voice. It's the new Showtime miniseries. Stories about the rise and fall of Fox News and particularly of Roger Ailes, the infamous founder of Fox News. Seth plays a character real life character named Brian Lewis. He was the head of public relations at FOX for many years. He came with Roger Ailes from CNBC when Roger was launching, Fox News. And he was most people would tell you the right hand of Roger Ailes. He was the pit bull. He guarded the company's internal business for Roche ously could be very tough with reporters obviously, but also anybody who tried to crack into the Fox News bubble. I think you'll be interested to hear Sestri bestirred drawing when he was two years old. He wrote a letter to Jim Henson studios when he was nine years old announcing that he was going to be a puppeteer and a cartoonist a kid who kind of knew what he wanted to be from the age of two and, you know, he gets into how do you do that? You have the dream when you're a kid, you move onto the Rhode Island school of design as he did. And. He was hired right away. They recognize his talent out to Hollywood worked on an animated show for a couple years before, again, when he was twenty four years old. He started family guy, which, by the way was cancelled twice was, not an immediate hit, I think people forget that. So to set the scene for you Seth and I got together at cafe. Carlyle at the famed Carlyle hotel in New York City. The cafe Carlyle is a jazz club. Seth has performed there a couple times because on top of everything else begin things that are scary. He sings in public. He's got five albums, including his latest once in a while, and he's been nominated for four Grammy award. So I got him to sit down at the piano, we got him to play a little bit sing a little bit. Do the thing that Seth MacFarlane does, but mostly to walk through fascinating life in fascinating career where the guy just does something different and surprises people all the time, a great conversation with Seth MacFarlane. We start by talking about the loudest voice, the series on Showtime. About Fox News. Thanks for doing this man for sure. So we've already gotten I think halfway through the show already we'll will start for the benefit of the viewers again. Yeah. I want to start with your character before we talk big picture, because I don't think most people know who he is. In fact, I know most people don't know, who is if you don't live in our media world Brian Lewis, who was he. And why is it important character in this big story, Brian Lewis was Roger Ailes PR chief for Fox News? And he also sort of functioned as his right hand man, and a lot of ways you know, this, this was the guy that Roger would blow off steam, too. And, and also the guy who was comfortable enough keeping keeping them in line when he may be got a little too off the rails. And, you know, according to the to Gabe chairman's book, and according to the series, he was also a guy was who was kind of on the outside of the. Emotional end of things. He was he was he was a democrat. Chocking way, working for Fox News. But more importantly, he was kind of a gun for hire. He was there because, you know, it was a good job and the ethics of it didn't really come into play. It was about, you know, being Boba fett. I guess. Liberal hire me, then he's a bounty hunter. So how did he to the extent? You got inside his head by reading the book. How did he reconcile knowing what he was doing was often wrong unethical? Yes. Doing the job. Well, I mean according to the material that I read that he, he at the end of the day he was. He could compartmentalize, he could put his family over here and his job over here, and essentially be two different people. But at a certain point. You know, he he idolized ales for a long time, and he really respected ails, as a marketer. And as as a as a promoter of whatever it was he wanted to promote. And he, I guess must have started to see him unraveling a little bit. And. It was probably a combination of genuine concern. Because there seemed to be a conscience there. And, and professional concern that, okay, I worked for this guy this reflects on me and, and he's starting to come apart at the seams.

"Once you do want to play this not as a one off kind of lark but regularly then what becomes the driving force for a lot of people is trying to make your decks better and better and again there's twenty thousand plus cards and so what you're doing is you're trying to find the ones it's like solving a puzzle how do these work best with one another how do these work best against the decks that i'm going up against with my opponents and what we're looking to do is constantly optimized constantly improve and there's no correct answer and there's all kinds of discussion and analysis about what the pros and the top players are doing and what they're playing and it's a path that's open to anyone because it is a path that starts at friday night magic essentially it's the equivalent of showing up at the local parks basketball courts and then slowly making your way up to the large televised basketball game events you can really tell him not into sports pulling out so when i was first starting to try to branch out and figure out how to make my own deck a friend recommended a website to me called tapped out dot net where you can build sort of virtual decks that'll generate stats for them you could see other decks people are generating that to me was a good way of scratching the surface on how to build different strategies and such are there other websites or other resources you'd recommend for somebody who's just trying to dive in to really try to create their own stuff tapped out dot net is an excellent one another one i cannot recommend enough is called mt g goldfish fantastic source of information about what decks are being played for you to see successful deck lists in whatever format your local game stores running or your friends like to play to be able to show you where and how to buy those cards from various sellers and also just as a site that has a lot of articles about.

"Will be spending money on so maybe you want to get those free sample decks that it sounds like you got i but the very first purchase so that you can sit down with your friends to play and actually have a real kind of starter deck would be these challenger decks that they have at the local game store that helps a lot but if you want to just play at the game store with people for casual games or we have friday night magic which is every friday night all these little independent game stores across the country have their fischel magic event and people come in of all ages from thirteen to forty and sit down and play with each other and that's really what you wanna shoot for is being able to go into your local game store play with other people and so i would say that purchasing the challenger deck is your best bet in being able to do so this is different from say the dole decks right 'cause i recently got my girlfriend into playing magic and we just bought a few dole dex decks that are made to play each other what do you think of that that's fine for for what you described having you know a friend or partner boyfriend or girlfriend husband or wife salata people sometimes even get it to to have a way to bond with their kids those won't be what you want to let go into your local game store you couldn't bring a dual deck into your local game store and sit down and play at friday night magic because those decks are not what we call legal for that game which is why the challenger decks are the ones that you want i've noticed that when friends are playing with each other frequently i like noticing that they rebuild their decks or they they keep refining their decks in response to each other which seems like a really cool aspect of this game that you don't get in a lot of other games where you know poker you can't just start finding new new set of cards to use does that happen in levels like tournament play as well or what other kinds of ways does the game evolve.

"It so how has it survived this long i think that one of the real staying powers of the game is that it is not just a linear or more simplistic setup like monopoly or or clue these are things i would call very linear games when you sit down to play a game of monopoly it's kind of the same process but no two games of magic or the same because we have different decks because new cards are coming out all the time they're actually different ways to play magic different formats it's like my saying well how does this deck of playing cards last so long well you can play poker or bridge or go fish with it and so different people find the format the game style that they enjoy the most and are able to play it's such a deep and complex game that it has that staying power so recently i decided oh i want to get a starter deck which is the right turn i went to a gaming store was like do you have some decks and they handed me something that was i think some sort of egyptian technical magic theme it confused me i wasn't really i didn't know how to figure out how to use it very well how would you suggest someone like get the right starter deck is that even the right kind of question there's a few ways that you can do it i actually think you did the right thing by going into your local game store and if you go up and they hold magic events there and you say exactly what you said what you should receive are a couple of starter free sample decks they're just these little thirty card decks that they give out for free to perspective players so that you have something to kind of play with having a friend helps a lot but the products that are available over the counter for you to just purchase and play out of the box are called challenger decks that's a specific thing that you.

"Okay one game i will say that i love visually and also to play is set very simple graphic design elements but it's beautiful and all the different kind of colors shapes and patterns that you can get combinations of is one of the coolest things i think and from a game design perspective as well i think it's amazing because it's so simple and clean i find that that that's a game that people love or hate and once you get it you love it and that when you don't get it it's incredibly frustrating so good though it's so fun and it can be it's you can play like solitaire by yourself or with you know a very strategic or competitive group of friends what are some other board games or car that everyone should know you mentioned upset and balderdash he also loves sorry remember he said sorry he said saris his favorite game yeah he says he said he loves sorry because sorry is a game of chance loves games of chance okay dawn you know obviously there are certain games that i'm drawn to a little more than others one of those kind of games that i like is game called catchphrase for party nights i mean it's pretty simple game it's like a word guessing game there's like a word or a phrase on it and you just have to get everybody else to guess it before time runs out it's really fun because it doesn't have a lot of setup need cards or pieces of paper or anything like that so it's great to kind of pull out at the end of a night or something like that if you're hanging out with friends and it's very easy to just pass it around and quick to place those a lot of fun another game i think that's kind of a weird fun one to play a game called hanavi in it's a card game that you play with a group of friends and it's a cooperative games that you're playing as a group you're not trying to beat the other people the goal of the game is to create like this awesome fireworks show and so you have all these cards with different successions.

"Or with kale and pine nuts versus obvious things it became this weird game that everybody got really into and like wanted to play games i think are the best icebreaker that aren't necessarily like seen as an icebreaker like obviously if you go to company retreats or something like that sometimes they use games like the icebreakers but if you're hanging out at a party or your hosting some kind of night making a space where like you're gonna play these games with people is a great way to just get people talking or get people interacting with each other maybe people that don't know each other as well because you do all the things in games that you do in normal life or a normal party but like within the rules of a game at feel safe because there's like competition and there's these rules that you kind of have to live by and everybody is like okay i'm going to agree to follow these rules in this magic circle of this game and so it gives people dislike safespace for the like okay i can be weird because that's what we're doing in this game where like if they're out of party they're like i can't be weird because maybe that's not what people want and so games it's like this disguise to like be normal and who you are but in the space of a game i never thought of it like that but it's almost like it's a play right with an all of the dramatic personae are blank and like you wanna fill them in with the different people that are in the room and the more different they are from each other the better and then everybody is agreeing to this sort of loose script which is unlike and that way you can kind of be yourself and also like fall back into the security of the script which is much less stressful than just trying to mingle and talk about what you do for a living.

"Nice like i win every time to say no just f y i i want to just put this out there like i feel like there are sort of two elements to being good at balderdash like you can be good at balderdash if you're really good at making up definitions that sound like they could have come from a dictionary and then you will win which alison no in your world that is the definition of being good is that you definitely being good and hopefully the right and true definition and for seth and me we have a different definition of what we think is that whoever is the most hilarious wins and so we led to write the most off the wall definitions possible isn't that right stuff that's right my wife is that as well okay good will be things like a kind of horse oh yeah those are could be anything people fall for every time when i'd like the idea of that coming up in balderdash games across america tonight when everybody plays talk about this without wanting to play very true i know i wanna play right now quick sign no there's an alternate version of that game i don't know if you've played it called beyond balderdash now it's not just words it's hot acronyms can get like pat or something like that and you'd have to fill in what those words are it's acronyms a date so it'll be like january twelfth nineteen twelve or something person's name i believe is one oh in the movie title so there's five different things and so it's the old one is like pure and it's like a little easier to play but the new the newer one knew it probably came out like thirty years or something but it's really fun because you get these weird things with like dates and like movie titles is a great one to be creative with.
