"Purdue sports radio network what a great game to what your fan rob this was fantastic you just well we saw enough of geo Baker to last for quite a while well fortunately geo I think he really likes playing Purdue thanks isn't it you really do the same thing against blue against Madison Square Garden his freshman year in the big ten tournament now the difference was Purdue won that game but very similar to what we did today just took the game over again didn't you did not have an answer for geo Baker two years ago as a freshman and they did not have an answer for him here today as a junior either so the captain geo Baker and directors because of day what's the particles interact with Japanese four years later indeed no one could stop that was that was there did nothing for him and talk about making big shots Sasha Stepanovich made big shots but they just they could not get over the hump and give Rutgers credit when they needed to make plays they made him yes aasha twenty two points one shy of a career high you certainly have a good day but you know these are the best two defensive teams in the big ten up to seven of the country points allowed with our records of twenty from the country points allowed and so you knew it was going to be hard to score against these guys and it was I mean that's all records does man when they make it tough on your square the ball and they did today and I got pretty did a good job like a telephone records outside at your bank right final reminder circulation of overtime so you have to really good defensive teams at the plate are today and fortunately for Purdue fans on senior day at the senior day ruined by yeah right you know Stepanovich makes the three to tie it and then run harbor junior wound knocks down three that that's to get answers and that's the game right there because you were so deflated I don't think you can get yourself back you really they made it look good and have a chance to tie with the at the end it just didn't go so now what we wait and we see what happens but you know there's Chris can be a few anxious moments in west Lafayette yeah I think it ain't even that painter said the same thing as postgame interview today really now I do want to play in the NCAA tournament they're gonna have to win the big ten tournament at the minimum you get to the championship yeah well the good news is look you can and quite frankly anyone not named a vascular northwestern can win this thing it is that wide open and producers has button that they can either beat or play with everyone in the league to this point now when I was in the big ten saying the same thing but that will be the beauty of this if you're putting at least you feel like you have a puncher's chance here all pretty close to this point as they will be to concede they'll be playing at six thirty on Thursday night not sure who the seven seed is going to be at this point it looks like it's probably gonna be Ohio state or Penn state two teams that beat Purdue and there are many opportunities this year those are just one game series with vocals seems you play them close both times both of those teams to excel you know good news bad news bad news you're gonna have to win your big ten tournament to get to the NCAA good good news is you do feel like you have a puncher's chance the bill because there is wide open here Purdue seventy one "The fire department employees misused resources for a family business yet investigation by the city auditor's office found evidence that an Austin fire department employees, misued city computer equipment, and his city Email account to conduct business for this family owned was owned by his wife. Yeah. The report released last night. The auditor's office said that Brian Klein who worked as an equipment technician, for the fire department had conducted business with the same vendors. He interacted with in a city position, clydes family business provides emergency vehicle outfitting as swallows alterations in excess related to over landing. Not sure what that means recreational activity that involves off roading. Okay, camping the shitty investigation found at least some overlap, but his full-time business position is full time position with the city and required him to plan and Scott. Maintenance and repair equipment and allegation made against Klein targets activity from April of twenty eighteen through the investigation found that his Email in its web browsing activity. The city computer equipment, going back to two thousand fourteen dying almost five years. Yeah. Doing this kind of thing, and if we had an audit, probably would have caught sooner investigators also found an Email thread spending, multiple years between Klein at a city vendor that included him making purchases for his family business along with conducting city business. That's not that's not appropriate. That's inappropriate actually it's not supposed to do that kind of not a good use of taxpayer dollars growing JAMA problem with him. He's got a job with the fire department, but he has deal with vendors. Would you have a problem with him doing business with those same Venice on his side business if it didn't use the city Email use own private Email? Would that be okay? Good question. My first reaction is known not really not really not. If I'm not sure how it interferes how that would interfere with with city business. There doesn't interfere. Then you shouldn't have absolutely not. But obviously you can't be using. I mean I mean, if it could be proven that, that vendor gives him a deal special sweetheart deal on his side business, if he buys, Vinnie firefighter stuff for the city with that vendor. Then that would be a little disingenuous, I guess, so I guess, but certainly using, you know, city equipment, and whatever to, to conduct this business city time city equipment all that now. And it just goes to point out that there's this is one thing. Just think that the vast amount of city business being done, the vast amount of city entities. We have said that all these aspects to it how much room there is for the need for auditing it. Absolutely boggles my mind that hang on, hang on, I say, let's in this story, specifically have you ever done any? Side business, personal business. Using your company Email, my company mail occasionally, I have I do it all the time occasionally, I have hot at five ninety KLBJ dot com. Use it all the time, buy things online, but there has never been I can promise you, there's never been anything that I have done that would have been any way, shape or form been any conflict with what I do here at the station. What what I'm supposed to do here in a written response? Kind of Kline says, in a written response, Klein said, personal web browsing is common activity among city employees working that's common activity among every single employee in the United States of America. Sure. And find this he says, I find this absolutely ridiculous that the audit office is even using this in one of their findings. He also said the family business was started so that he could earn extra money after being turned down for promotion within the fire department says started my business on the mere fact that I was simply trying to make ends meet in regards to my current employer of asked for several years for. A you know, possibly to get a promotion, a new job description even over time. Even which, I've, you know, has been denied that for years, he says, I've tried every approach every angle to find some sort of supplemental income within my job, and absolutely nothing happened and raising two small kids, trying to support my family in the city of Austin, left me, no choice to look outside the department. And that's why our company was started, if I was an employer manager, whatever in that position, I wouldn't have a problem with someone occasionally, if they did have a side gig occasionally, having to make a phone call occasionally using the Email that kind of thing, the problem would have though, if it was a situation where they're actually running their business within the business that I'm paying them to work at. That is a problem the thing. No, because you know what, that's just like that's just the way life is. And just as long as it doesn't distract from your main job. I don't have a problem. But if you're running the show from the other gig, that's a problem. You're listening to the. The best of Todd and dawn on NewsRadio KLBJ. You're listening to the best of the Todd Don show. "He tried hunter on 'em. He did some switching had Drome little bit. No. That was out of character. And that's got to say, wait a second. We can't abuse. And I think you'll see that with Harper. Harper Brown, I prop Brown's probably canton or whoever's going. Yeah. Whoever's got a call, and they skirt fifty two points between them. Now. The one thing that. Without o'keith. And it goes back to Duke a little bit is you've got two guys that have scored half of their points. Right. Played. Can you win a game? With two guys without a KiKi scored half your points against Virginia team to basically, they're gonna close down one of those guys. So who's the other guy that steps up for? I don't know. Is there any other guy that can step up in the middle of the game yesterday against Kentucky? They start throwing the ball to Wiley, which is interesting because you wanna throw the ball inside because he calms everything down around in it. But you also want the guy inside to be able to do two things. Number one, make a basket. Number two, make a free throw or. Yes. Number three, passing us and out of it gets get double big debate. Right. So I don't have the answer that that's what I said earlier. Awful stretch in the in the middle of it which goes to trust, and Bruce as you said earlier, I think this I think that whatever needs to happen for Auburn. I've become a believer is going to happen meaning pure for needs a hit shots somebody's you'll make show early in the early towards the Tigers. I am, but I'm not alter mentally because I thought I really thought this pay say I say, I really thought I say. I thought if you're if you're going to beat Virginia Purdue was going to beat Virginia. And I know some lucky things happen. I get all that. But let's be honest. They had to get one. They had to it was a perfect a perfect storm. Miss a free throw or the games one. Bog, it's if you're going to tell me park is going to be running backwards with the clock running down from five point nine seconds into the back court. I'll take that one hundred one hundred times, but here's the point. They didn't beat Virginia. But is like so. Going potentially a worst to first scenario. Wow. I live for Jinya. I think they're. There's not the only thing they can get at times Kyle guy out there the difference car guy in that game and he struggled. He was like two for. He elevated man Seth he got against Brian Klein, and I love Ryan Klein, but I really well. And he knew that he continually got separation off of Ryan and Ryan knew it. And that's all I watched. I didn't even watch. Bob was just watching those two guys entire game. And I went back and watched it and my wife's like, why are you yelling 'cause that not couldn't talk and all of a sudden guy's gonna hit a three. She's just like you. You saw they can't guard him, but he actually elevated up on like like like I went back like he must. He was affected. More by the one sixteen in a pressure dancer AA. And then you make a great point because he was familiar with Kline. So that may be made him more comfortable than in that moment in time. That's that's that's a that's a great point. And you know, what really fall down. Now, you know stuff. He talking about when he played a ewbal. Did he really cross clan of enfold on singer rose played nine thousand he was working on clients? I think I think that was pretty good. All right, one of the cool moments. So and Carson Edwards was hitting all those you're gonna took the ball out of bounds and game thumbs up. Did you see that? Now, these guy do that. He he bangs his four three or whatever client to guide takes about bounds..

"The girl are among minimum. Yeah. Lou, Laura LA legend. Preussen you'll eat eight. I keep looking at this bracket. I'm like that just doesn't that doesn't look right Purdue Purdue Purdue Purdue first of all Brian Klein. A man who went what do you get one for eleven against Old Dominion? This dude is unbelievable. It warms my heart. First of all I've said first of all twice, but. Ryan Klein had twenty seven points twenty seven points. He is the type of player who he he did not hit nine threes. But he did he did finish with the point total. That's divisible by three which isn't an accident. He's just one of those guys that no matter. What happens? He's always scoring in multiples of three I'm not I'm not a fan. I I have become more of a fan. I feel like I know more people in produced basketball program affiliate with basketball programs. Unlike any other program at this point, including Ohio State, it's it's wild produce really really trying to win me over with their bathrooms and all that shit. All those bathroom bathrooms. But it does warm my heart to see a guy like Ryan Klein killing it on a big stage because he is Indian basketball, not like basketball. But like, she is the state of Indiana basketball. And I always and I love this matchup. Kyle guy versus Ryan Klein they played together. They're both just like two white boys that shoot threes from from Indianapolis elvers. Ryan it is. Yeah. Exactly. Yes. Yes. They're playing in the elite eight one of them's going to the final four. But watching Ryan Klein just just torched the nets and be so confident about it. And he's got that. He's even got like the Larry Bird shot thrown it behind his head a little bit. It's like, oh my God. This is this is what matters I've gotten to that back was the when he when he did it when he finally pulled the step back. Yeah. It was like, oh, my relied is unconscious wherever it was calling the game even said some they're like Klein nowhere to go. He's dribbling. Why is he dribbling passing doing Ryan? Yeah. Why am I dribble? I'm going to step back and shoot the ship. I've reached the point of my life, though, where like the Hoosier in me is is no longer. I mean, I still true for I still want to do well and stuff, but like I've just gotten older to where I just want guys from India to to succeed, and especially white guys that can only shoot threes, and that's all they can do on a basketball court. Those are my favorite basketball players on earth. Because that's who I am. And to see guys like that go nuts on a massive stage is awesome to watch..

"And then. Brian Klein, this guy can shoot his his butt off from downtown. No doubt. But if one of those two struggles produce not gonna win this game, Tennessee has too much depth. And I think bones gonna have a big game for Tennessee comes off a lackluster effort against Iowa, especially in the second half. And I think Scofield who had the four thousand and sat down and didn't even play in the overtime. I think you'll redeem himself as well. I coaching wise, you know, not much difference. I'll take Barnes over painter. But it's close there. And I just think Tennessee is the right side there. I took them on the money line not to risk anything. I just was a minus one twenty. I think it was on the money line. It's now up to one and a half. So probably a little iron the money line. But I think Tennessee wins a game. It's in Louisville Kentucky. So more of the open seats there at the center, which is the home of the Louisville cardinals. I think we'll be taken up regionally by those Tennessee fans while oh Purdue travel pretty well. Okay. So. Faz you've got a bat involving Tennessee with Brad whilst longer. I so it's Tennessee verses Virginia. Okay. So as the weeks have gone by if feels like Brad you've liked your side, more and more. I do like my how much of that is that. You've upgraded Virginia. How much of that is you downgraded Tennessee more of a downgrade on Tennessee, then Virginia, and do you think though that that downgrade is applicable to this game? Or is it? Hey, it's in the line. Then there's value with Tennessee. I think it's an ally. I think prior to the tournament Tennessee pry would have been three three and a half point favorite in this game. Now, only laying one one and a half. There's clearly been a downgrade on the bowels, but you still Liam produced. I do lean Purdue, but the and you mentioned this kind of straight on Vegas. This is I kinda wanna sit back and watch his game because I'm not a fan of either coach map painter the Purdue head coaches guy. Another Sweet Sixteen four times what happened all four times went home packing. Didn't cover any of those four games. Rick Barnes last eleven NC double A tournament games. One cover one cover looks like his teams have been playing tight, not only Texas, but also Tennessee one advantage. And this is why I'm leaning on the boiler suits, a significant one. It's on the boards Purdue top twenty in the country offensive rebounding, Tennessee, well below average when it comes to defensive rebounding because of that I'll lean with Purdue I'm gonna lean to Tennessee. It's all about what I feel was an easy path for Purdue to get to this week sixteen here. So they got Old Dominion. The first round NADA. Good thirteen seed, and then the second round they get Villanova from the big east the one league the one conference. That has underperformed the most in this tournament the big east. Oh, four and one against the spread. So produced Cada break catching Villanova in the big east in the second round. Now, that's an interesting point one of our basic tournament premises. Same thing in the bow season is teams play a big chunk of the games that matter in college in conference, football and basketball, thus if a conferences overrated. Or underrated. It's gonna be hard for a team in that conference. Not to be overrated the same way because look at the competition. You're looking at every game thinking, it means more than it means or less than it means when it comes to the big east and the big ten seem like manna, man. It was just crazy. How right that approach was once it started show itself. Yeah. So the the big east fell short of expectations in this tournament by ten points per game. As far as the Vegas, Brad goes. And when Villanova played Perdue in round two fact, and we saw the money come in on Perdue in that game. Despite the fact that Villanova you said, hey, was an easy spot for Purdue location, necessarily wasn't Villanova's playing close to home in Hartford, Connecticut and had the crowd advantage there. So I was very impressed with Purdue even though and you know, taking a consideration the conference disparities..

"Who loses to Purdue at home, forty eight forty six last night hammer. What does it say about this game that I was more interested in the fact that Dan dockage was trending on Twitter last night? In the actual game that I was watching not just trending the number one trend in Indianapolis at one point. Last night was hashtag docket was more fascinated by the end that anything I was watching on TV for sure that the brain to coach and coach, Dan dockage. What the hell did you do last night to not only take off the produce fans? But the fans as well coach. Kicked off. Why couldn't it be? I was so magical that everybody. You're right. You're right. When you walk into the arena, everybody is rolling out the red carpet for you, aren't they? Do you know how it goes whiny? Are you close? I'm better. I, hey, I'm overly by whatever. And of course, Purdue Homer burbot scenario, I had nothing to do with the game other than a magnificent broadcast with my partner Jason Bonetti in the lovely, Molly McGrath. So. Figure maybe somebody maybe got a shot in the back of my head. And again, they tell them. Coach Dan dockets joining us from ten seventy the fan was on the broadcast last night on ESPN two for Indiana. And Purdue a game Purdue one forty eight to forty six on your program today. Coach you said is there an expiration date on blaming Tom crane is that what you're hearing are people still blaming Tom crane for the sorry state of Indiana basketball. It's so ridiculous. All the little blogger, boys. You know, when you go into the restroom at Indiana University. It's literally the funniest because all of these guys, it's I'm not even sure they can walk across the street to gum at the same time. They're the blogger boys. They're all the little guys that need access you need to coach to be nice to him. And they all right. The same stuff which is. Wow. This is an unbalance. This is an unbalanced roster cream left. The nothing which is complete crap green glass year thirteen hundred points. And Robert Johnson. Jon Morgan chipped, your senior in Newkirk is a point guard and this year, you got the same guys in two years of Archie recruiting. So is unbelievable to me. How so many people still can't face? The fact that this is the only coach Indiana basketball team. Poorly used in the NFL has nothing to do with what Tom cream left the more. What Tom green dinner? Didn't do. This is all on what's happening. Now. Tom green coach. This was supposed to be the year that Indiana competed for that big ten championship. You had Jon Morgan back. You gotta Romeo Langford deciding to come to Bloomington and Romeo Kirkman. I'm wrong did not even attempt a shot in the second half last night. Not that he didn't make one. My man did not take a shot in the second half whose fault is that. Why don't you agree question? The three of us took as many shots. You know, my father took his many shots can go on and on. But I asked that question today on my show. I think a couple of things I don't think that Romeo Langford has had a bad year. I think he's been calling. I don't think he's not so engaged in Indiana winning and whatever happens on the court happens 'cause he's got bigger plans. I do think this, and I actually this. And I think some people have taken offense to it. But the truth of the matter is the coaching staff doesn't do him any favors. They really don't set him up. And I always give examples run him along the baseline cost him underneath with another guy. Purdue does for Ryan CLYDE him off ball screen middle of the floor after some type action keep him involved during the possession. What happens with Romeo Lanker or too often? And this is a coaching thing they go to one action. And if it doesn't work whoever has the ball. And if it's not letting it goes and stands opposite kind of funny. I was talking to Mark today the beacons coach, and we were talking about two or three actions in a possession where okay, this doesn't work. What you continue on Indiana doesn't have any of those and I feel bad in a way for lane for because let's be honest you come here as a freshman. You're eighteen years old the way the world is on your shoulders. Now, it's on your shoulders, mostly because you were dumb enough to have an idiotic press conference where you guys talk to be made basically made him out to look like ABRAHAM LINCOLN and. Bringing it yourself, but nobody's really helping him. And I feel bad about that today. But I don't feel bad when I see him five minutes after a loss to Purdue. He's in full uniform, laughing it up with his mommy and daddy. That's just not the way Indiana's. Poster all I'm sorry. It's not at least in my world. She that far too often. I see a team. That's really. Just seems to play the game. And then, you know, that's fine. They go out and do whatever. I don't like it was just not, and I will probably accept it off my lawn guy status. I fully exclude up. Yelling your cloud guy status. I'll pull you accept any status. If people wanna give me cause I like being Chroma Jin that says, this is the way it used to be in this delete should be now. So there you go. You bet Brian Klein a minute ago. And again, we're chatting with Dan dockage ten seventy two fan, right? Klein outplayed Romeo Langford last night. Now, I don't think there's anybody that says on the whole Ryan Klein.

"Now, they lead by eight with seven twenty left over the number six Spartans of Michigan state. What changed I think a little bit of his early shot-blocking attempts that work proper? And of course, the Grady, I relegated to the bench after his initial stance. In the second half produced got to get back to the top of the dirtiness of their early defensive rotations in this game. There was everything left for dead as far as the smarty offense. A lot can be guarded from getting hyper back in this game. I think Secondly, though. I gotta take better shots the remaining portion of eight the first app three of eight the second. Can you make him screen? And then pop we'll see what Purdue about painter has out of this time out. Do with seven team foul. So Michigan state will shoot free throws the rest of the way. Only four on the Spartans was narrow belongs to produce. Should we need it? To remain four Purdue Edwards with the dribble. Shot clock down to fifteen eighteen point lead Edwards dribble on the left side dumps at late inside the harms harms left-hand hooked, we've out save your Tillman for Michigan state arms has got to give you that one of the paint. That was a good late dumping works Cassius. Winston has been the story. Here are the second happy as eighteen. Great back door on Carson Edwards presses it up the way knowing the lead for Purdue is cut to six. There is a theory with your offense is rolling poorly stack as a professor for Edwards. Just not aware of where he went. Jump shot Tepe on the right side. No good. No del eastern. We'll try to put it back up with a two handed tip. He missed it. But he's fouled in the paint. It will slow the pace of give Purdue a chance. To get support to the stripe eastern to for two today. But he's a fifty percent foul shooter. Ashes Winston for Michigan state eleven second half points. To go, a six, rebounds and six assists. Overall eighteen for the game. Eastern misses the front end to shot foul the fifth team foul on Michigan state. Fourth foul or fourth foul. That is I'd save your Tillman. He's the only player in real foul. Trouble. He'll go to the bench goings and ward back in on the inside Grady I for decade for Matt painter scored, but he is a huge impact up as Gabe eastern. The hitch free throw. No good and do MRs to at the stripe. It is a six point lead at Mackey arena down from twenty three mcquaid quarter. Dow Tepe to Nick ward one on one against harms stops rebound, log there's Ryan blind to come up with it and a loose. Ball foul going to be called on Aaron Henry. I don't think you could have gotten a much better shot as far as designed for Tom Izzo. It just didn't go in ward work to that area. And I'm surprised that even with the scramble ability what we had Purdue earlier of out of double team defensive rotations. They opted not to go that way. And maybe it's keeping a guide as toes ward dot most productive as we see lately with his double doubles. No double is a couple of later. Nine points and three rebounds and a couple of blocks from Michigan state, six minutes to play six point boilermaker leave Brian Klein head fake steps. Back from twenty two. Down. Pissed. The day going open for three to try to. Does. State continues talk brawl with Purdue. Gene. Katie what place similar to the other? I thought CLYDE running off a multitude of screens did kick the leg. It could draw foul but for going he steps in and makes open after all ball screens. Eric Connor tries to go back door looking for harms bad pass taken away by Winston Michigan state passed to the weak side off the window held is water and got it after the defense blue by. And it's a four point Purdue lead with five minutes to play. And I didn't recognize the Sparty faithful right behind their bench staff. They're standing now about thirty to thirty five. They were silent because second half as a woke Spartan bitch. Standing exhorting on their teammates Carson at where it's going to throw off the screens baseline mcquaid gives chase editor with a step. Behind the backboard. These gonna flip it up. It's going to go off the other arm of Keti going to came over to help out mcquaid. And there wasn't anything there for Carson Edwards. He's very fortunate. Purdue keeps the basketball I think radio replay lightness game would have provided the team with the ball there. But what you go right and use the left smaller. Underhand the backboard. Edwards will rise fire for three off the ram buddy draws the foul on Matt mcquade Edwards. A trick. You see a lot of the NBA with James harden. Catch a player with his arms out and drag the ball through and go up with the shot and forced the foul. A couple of games has lowest. He could be as wide either direction that quick at one dribble. Spot is better off by some free. Throws will help his team. He's an eighty six percent shooter at the stripe three of sixteen in that matchup against Michigan state at the breslin center. Seventy seven fifty nine Purdue loss Edwards today. Four of eighteen not much better Purdue on top rate now. Six with four forty five to play at a third free. Throw coming. No shell eastern will come in. Eric hunter will go out four Purdue. Little offense defense substitution. Edwards? Third one at the stripe that one got a little iron. But that was the closest thing to abyss. Three points from the stripe Purdue makes the lead back to seven. Four and thirty nine to play Winston with a step down the lane scripts and stars. Look like, you might have cleared out. What the off hand? No, Paul scoop is good floating. It up for the dotted line the paint. Probably was an off head to the chops with Edward stopped competing. What's that ball got past him, huge difference? Winston five point lead four eighteen to play eastern methodical drive to the basket. The circle lays it in driving. By Michigan state. Terrible play by Aaron Henry, no gel eastern comes up with a turnover slows his team down on walks it into the front court. We're starting to get into a tie for these offenses better believe CLYDE as well as Edwards coming off. Screens wine halted at the point shot clock at twelve tipped up high Debbie knocked away. Henry got a hand on that fell into the hands of Winston Tommaso brings his team over and will burn one of his two remaining timeouts with three forty two to play Purdue has led by twenty three in the second half with thirteen minutes to play they led by four moments ago. "Rectangles Mike Wozniak with you. He talked about Michigan state's ability to defend the long line. Three point line will be came back from the last break is only continue the Ford on normally get about forty three of their. Seventy eight points per game. From beyond the three point arc. They're getting sixty percent of their points from beyond the great now a little bit to do with. That is really the awfully awesome offensive rebounding opportunities Purdue at time to sit three to the offensive glass. And today, that's almost a death sentence a team like this. You get state that run it right back down her throat. But overall, you're looking at a team led by the second half is there's every chance for energy of an individual to permeate. The team has done that for the second half run. We talked about how the Spartans had dramatically outrebounded Purdue in their last match up out rebounded them by eighteen the Boilermakers plus eight today the challenge for Matt painter to his team has been accepted here's cashless Winston tried to leave the screen too. Many people back into the paint as the board. Swing past. The Winston Winston head bake. He'll step into a three in and out. Rebound. Parson Edwards Purdue. Four or five different defensive strategies there with the W post icing of the screen, and forcing ultimately to a late tougher. One Purdue gonna slow it down a little bit runs to the clock with a brief. We'd at the point Aaron Wheeler holds it. Now. Thomas kit or who's in the pivot. Michigan state freshman is giving some good spot minutes. Driving his hunter he'll step back and fire the left hand gun. No good Wheeler tip the rebound. But here is going to come up with it. And he will be fouled by Aaron Wheeler. That'd be the third. On the big man off the bench for Matt painter. Even though the ball was for the most part grabbed with his hand, you go in there with one hand in this type of game officials are not going to give it to you. If there were two Paul's on it would have been a tie up. Sasha's of will come back in Brian Klein will get a break radii for Dan dealer will go out. It's a nice, Dan. He's been very good off the bench. Boiler makers twenty three point lead with twelve minutes to play at Mackey arena. It is a steep hill to climb for the sparks Winston chased to thirty feet out. Winston is the center of all of the attention of the Boilermakers heat waves everyone away, and I was going to try to go one on one against Nevada. Vich Chuck luck at six they contested three buried down. The foul chance at a four point play. Wasn't a very pretty offensive possession. But the end result will look good. I think sometimes you're a bench player. You get relegated to what is always complaining for a foul on the shot. So part of it. Sure he did much Winston. We'll have a chance at a four point play. When we come back fifty five thirty five Purdue over Michigan state a timeout at Katie court. You're listening to compass media networks, this is NCAA basketball. If you owe.

"Start at the second half of compass. Media networks coverage of NCAA basketball. Now, let's join the true backout at Mackey arena. Greg daniels. Mike Wozniak with you for this big ten brawl and so far. Verdoux ahead on points. They might have scored a knockdown if we're going to stick with the metaphor to boxing, the Boilermakers lead number six Michigan state thirty seven to nineteen. Let's get some keys to the second half for Mike Wozniak brought to you by capital. One capital. One is reimagining banking by offering accounts with no fees or minimums that can be open from anywhere five minutes. Capital one. What's in your wallet, Capital One? How about some second half? Really disparity spanking has dot entirely bit on the boards. But it's been from who. And how many shot attempts have been given with Carson Edwards sitting at one of eight for Purdue. They want to get the ball in his hands a little bit more and more in rid of it. I think for Michigan state. They're actually going to have to pull the offense a little bit more away from the basket using Winston some screen enroll more green grass area with shooters in the corner produced a fantastic job of bottling up the middle. I think Winston means more space to work in putting arms in Williams. Born a help role after the oddball screen to provide some more fluidity improved assist numbers in the second half. We talked about it briefly in near the end of the first half that Ryan client Carson Edwards, a combined three of seventeen for only nine points. And yet Perdue is up eighteen and that can largely be attributed to the bench benchmark twenty two points off the bench for Matt painters bench to spark this only two from Brown. Result. That is a significant difference and a huge boost Spartans struggling to shoot at just twenty three percent and turning the ball over as well much more than they're assisting. So far. Going by twenty five minutes of play in zero point those are two guys that can the floor again if you put on ball strange with them. A sports did go a little smaller their proportion the first half. The big fella Williams is in for Purdue. He's tipping all around the red solo vicious state will be a tree because leaving the half court for halftime. I should say there was some barking from Izzo directed at the officials subtypes a cooling off period can improve eighteen after chatted sued. Purdue. Leading thirty seven to nineteen the old gold. The black trip. Michigan state. Darkness, sparking green jerseys. The white and silver trim ward Winston and mcquaid combined for seven for twenty two shooting. That's not great for Michigan state. Everybody else added for nine. And that's where you really get in trouble Spartans. We'll have it. I trailing by eighteen to start the second half. Winston mcquaid and Henry upfront ward and going Cassius. Winston driving in stripped away by no gel, eastern, the six six point guard. Excellent defender moving his feet with a smaller quicker guard easier said than done he fought through two different odd ball screens and use it that body. Winston loves it in Burleson to the point tries to dump it deep to goings kicked Spartans will trigger it and again shot clock reset to twenty after the kick in Michigan state will throw it in left basket. At the hoop to our right? Goings gets it. Screen with Winston brief double they do enough just to show to make it harder. Radii for guarding him on the switch pops out. He's got the dribble against Williams. Shock lockdown Spartans going nowhere. Aaron Henry tries to spit Brady. Hustled along the Purdue. L eastern. Driving scoop MRs rebound on the floor. I get another one. Football family knows the fumbles for I for creating two points there. This is Mack attack. Group is unruly right now. Michigan state quickly in deep to Nick ward trying to thwart the largest lead of the game four Perdue. It's at twenty the Spartans have not tasted a lead. Today. It has been wire-to-wire for the Boilermakers nineteen minutes to go in the second half going to the point. Swing it around to the right side where it comes off the Kerr everything for Michigan state. Contested entry passes are hard board wheels across the lane and gets the half to go. And that's something that can get the Spartans moving cuts. The lead down eighteen you never know. What gets a guy going with? You forget the double team or the game plan got to go to a strong hand in the middle of the pain with no one around. Door to trae beyond Williams. But a good defense Nick ward with the block and war. Try to run up the court Winston to a trailing petty going for three that is up big one coins. In on the pass from pashas Winston and a lead for Purdue down to fifteen. The reality though, is the block with him rim running and drawing the attention of produce weak side and first offenders going steps into that one. Here's Ryan fine. Picked up by Aaron Henry, double spring clients step back three, and he'll bury gotta be held from the Spartans. It wasn't there. Climax in his third looking for beyond the long line quickly quickly back the other way. Ward rim running Mike would say and catches it. Soft hands at traffic and lays it in law passes. Somebody quarterbacks leader receiver doubt the floor. There's so much opening credit fouling athletic ward at the rim. Forty two twenty six Purdue with the lead seventeen and a half to play live downstream in the corner Grady, hyper head fake back to Carson Edwards. Twenty two point and Carson Edwards. Tony. Parts status to start the second half loose balls. The extra past many times, you're open to throw to a contested. Dr ward tried to free cash Winston, we'll set a moving screen and turn the ball. But back to Purdue. You're right about Grady. I for doing the little things in this half that are extending possessions and making things happen. Forty five twenty six Purdue with the lead over Michigan state Spartans trying to get the tanto in the big ten for the first time in program history. Boiler makers undefeated at home. Brian Klein cops out picked up by Xavier. Tillman backs off them. The pact off twice. Twice. Just put a big on that one leave the basketball and the best shooter on the team hoops, forty eight twenty six the boiler makers what believe twenty twos, their largest mcquaid for three Xavier fighting for the rebound lost it. Off the Spartans. Who gets back? Stadium is right behind us. And I'm not sure what I do it in the fall. But rob that staff right now Eddie fumble Eddie square-leg drill. This guy is all over the place sixteen and a half to play Purdue with the lead over number six. Michigan state. I was at the game. We did that compass had the broadcast of the Purdue Ohio State football. And this has some of the same electrcity to it right now. Here's Matt Harvey takes a peek inside radii. I Ryan clients already got three bombs in the second half. Carson Edwards downstream double team on the inside dangerous. And poor pass attempting to a crowd gonna go off the boiler makers, Matt harms. That was a bad pass by Edwards. It was not open. Tap outs. Two seven three roll under the rim. Throw it at his chin throat. His forehead throw it above his head. Opt out there. Eric Leonard junior the point guard spot he'll pick up Winston full-court caches Winston, seven points, three assists. Averages eighteen and seven. Winston with a step driving into the paint arms. There though. To come over and contest. But a foul going to be called trailing behind and Winston. We'll get a couple of destroyed forty eight twenty six Purdue with the lead just under sixteen to play in the second half in west Lafayette. There's a break in the action. You're listening to compass media networks, America's home for college basketball. I'm Jay Farner,.

"Mike Wozniak with you Spartans have only two guys who've scored the basketball, Cassius Winston seven points, three rebounds and an assist and Matt mcquade hit a three and also got a two and a dunk on the run produced been spread out a little bit more. They've already gotten six points from Aaron Wheeler off the bench and six from Ryan climb the starters, and that's up just four shots on three point tries. Thank you. And you look at Michigan state. It's how they score versus the assisted basket right now only three of them. So far those five field goals the right guys aren't necessarily shooting. But I would expect to see a guy going and Tillman to continue destruction before they have not been productive in the paint credit. A lot of what Purdue done both with ball pressure. That side the super active. You can almost double a player in the post without ultimately fully committed Pedic. Purdue is played that fine edge that five line in between a couple of times that have just studied Michigan state post offense players yet seems to be just enough to make ward uncomfortable, but not over committing and giving up that sweeten pass. And thus Michigan state like you said hasn't been able to react to it Spartans half the ball out of the timeout foster lawyer, the Mr. basketball for the state of Michigan last year in data longtime NBA coach works in the front office with the clippers now. Back to mcquaid between the circus. Clock down to single digits as mcquaid goes screen and roll inside the ward good chats with one hand gathered to two then flipped it up shotput style of the paint to get his first scratch with the day. It's a ten point boiler. It evolved almost as zone offensive tight when he of stood in the middle of that ball was laser through their seven fifteen to play in the first half ten point lead, the Boilermakers. They're doing it without their leading score Carson Edwards scoring yet. But now. Fire off the dribble had his first martyr of the game this one for three left. Boy, just the the memory of someone that is not exist or gone paying attention to what transpired previous. This is a guy you played them in open gym at the rec center. He'd light you up. Mcquaid swigs to Aaron Henry picked up by Sasha's, Stefan of it's at the point do really aggressive defensively really working to keep their man. Out of the paint. Equate in the corner, he'll put it on the floor and going to pick up a foul on Carson Edwards. For edwards. That'll be his first just the third team foul on the boiler makers only three team fouls on the Spartans. It's been a clean half for both teams when it comes to fouls. Brian Klein will come back in for Matt bainer Sasha's. Devante bitch. We'll take a seat the Spartans will get cash. Winston back in. He was out for the media timeout and just a little bit after that. Roster. Lawyer will take a seat equate cops to the corner back to going to the point try to find Nick ward on inside the Purdue. Collapsing. Big time. Go to a heart double that goes inside award. He's gonna lose the ball walked by trading on Williams. Ward waterfowl, he's not going get it thirteen point lead with six twenty to go. The first step. Here's Edwards stepping in. And firing just inside the three point line. No, good rebound. A Nick ward the Spartans moving it ahead. Winston a dangerous pass into a crowd to Kenny goin- there were two Boilermakers around. But it's going to go out of bounds off goings and a bad decision by your point guard to try that pass that lob down the middle. There's so many different factors that can get a piece of it. And actually looked like it was tipped kind of air balled it even further down the floor. And if you don't grab the ball with two hands in the painted area in this game. You're not getting it. Here's Carson Edwards with the dribble on a strength baseline to know. Gel eastern helped drive in missed the shot hung on the rim and fell off rebound to Kenny going for Michigan State Winston quickly up the right side. Whistle and a foul inside away from the ball is Nick ward trae beyond Williams fighting for real estate. I'm not sure how you defend it you run that deep into it in ward continues to use that off-farm like a battering ram. It was more than anything of just extending joust type maneuvered for Williams still understand if he gets behind him that deep on the floor got flip to the frontside overplay Williams. First foul, he'll go out, Matt harms. We'll come back in not as strong, but a lot more length board. Double to swing it to mcquaid time to fire a three right side. No, good rebound tipped out control Spartans back to mcquaid. He'll reset do it again. No good. No gel eastern with the rebound for Purdue. Carson Edwards quick crossover dribble lost mcquaid, but he didn't fire the jump shot. Now. He's still with the dribble. Left-hand pocket pass inside the Matt. What's up from the short wlac and puts Perdue with the lead by fifteen their largest of the game. And how about the footwork didn't charge? He didn't wanna dumped it could've maybe try to. But it would have been charged the touch to do that. As a big fella. Five minutes to play the first staff Cassius. Winston rippling here to going back to the top. Aaron Henry left side. He'll watch the three. No good. No gel eastern the rebound. For purdue. Here's Easter driving to the basket. Handoff to Ryan dribble. It back to the point wine right side, the harms harms worked on his long shooting in the offseason doesn't attempt many. But tan, here's Carson Edwards with the dribble. Mcquaid make contact mcquaid. We'll get the foul called air. So difficult is it defender with that size and maturity and strength to what Edwards can do with the ball mcquaid expend so much energy defensively? He'd be in the right position nine times out of the Ted. But that one little hand to the hip Broschi called it. Well, mcquaid to the bench twenty nine to fourteen Purdue with the lead over Michigan state. Here's Carson Edwardsville rise up and fire at three missed it. Kenny joins had the rebound but bat harms quickly reached in tied him up with a possessor hero gets it back to the boilers pervasive. In state, you're down fifteen. Thank you. Your lucky stars not more because of Edwards were hot. You might be buried. Well. You look at what Purdue has done the last four games they've made forty four threes there on pace to do. So but five of thirteen right now for these big just wide open. Once I credit. What Purdue there's always somebody in that inner circle of offensive rebounding. That's putting a ton of pressure on the Spartans. Purdue is really big on Xtra possessions in the Matt painter era. Whistle and a foul going to be called away. From the basketball has Purdue goes into the half court set that's going to be a Nick ward. But they talk a lot about. Forcing turnovers which they've done so far the Spartans with five and then also the offensive rebounds, something that was used against them. In east Lansing by the Spartans eighteen times had eighteen offensive rebounds. Purdue will trigger it into hyper. Now eastern as Carson Edwards. Curls hooks the past baseline to harms harms pump fake with the left hand jumper, and then gives it back to Edwards Edwards spinning into the paint and into a crowd take about three onto Aaron Henry to the basket. As as a four to fine trailing three point Bob. Good rebound. Nick. Ward of the Spartans dodge, the tagger is the roof is about to get blown off here. Aaron Henry hesitant left side holds it up. Spartans will go to their half court offense. States a little shell shocked against this defense. I don't think they're either big this neutralize this early. Jay Brown swings round of the nearside. Aaron Henry look get a screen from goings trapping on the triple inside. It goes to going goings skip to gay Brown. Three point shot. No, good war tips. Aaron Henry comes away with a long rebound. Dumps it inside. The crowd. It's taken away by Purdue. Here's Carson Edwards back to the way, driving right hand blocked taken away by Xavier tilles. The Michigan state. Here's Winston up the left side Stafford pop for twenty-five. No, good harms Sach is near the tin and holds the rebound up. As far as if you're an analyst a broadcaster. This is ideal basketball. There's action everywhere as far as the coaches what they'd love to see the orange thing. In the circle thing. This is a bad as far as business at passes of interior paint. But the guts and the intensity. Top of the line produced got two minutes without a bucket. Michigan state's going forward. Here's Ryan CLYDE, trying to end edits off the iron rebound gonna go long the corner away by no gel eastern. Good hustle by eastern who just does the little things fills in the gaps and a time out good. It'll be called by Matt painter. The boiler makers has they'll have the ball on the outer bow twenty nine fourteen pretty with the lead two and a half to play on the first staff timeout at Mackey arena. You're listening to compass media networks this is at sea a basketball. Three big ten basketball game has big fans. Big players actually being passes comebacks big on three pointers buzzer..

"Both leave the plane really hard to type of basketball you love to watch. If you're a fan of basketball thing, I've been really impressed. The what Johnson to the team all thankfully, nine point four four feuding John defensively. There's nothing better in a better feeling in the world defensively when the coach tells you your guard the guy that never suited. That's a really good feeling because you don't have anything to worry about pensively a couple of these players from Indiana last few games have been hesitant to. Shoot the basketball, and it becomes so much easier to guard when you don't have to worry. But maybe a couple of guys now Justice has taken upon himself aggressive here today. He's four four three point shot. Played great defense got nine of Indiana's eighteen points. That's at third leg of the offense of attack that we've been talking about when Indiana has multiple guys that are playing well, the offense event much more difficult to guard right now Robson Justin Smith has really picked up the slack for this Indian often Romeo Lankford has come back for Indiana Roberts is also the ballgame justed Smithson there with John back yet. And here's a passage reflected. Matt Harvey couple that brings it outside. The mill gel Easter eastern. Langford slides it out to the top classes inside a nice feeder devante lost the handle China-bound off of D'amoto play was their backup. Devante. Fumbled. The ball hesitant to put it up inside the paint, man harms is Paul guy. And he blocks a lot of shots for this defense. I liked the execution from Indiana out of a timeout. But just not able to finish your on. Both teams have four turnovers. Now, here's the rebel over cross. The timeline eastern gives it to advertise. The cli- back a harms on the right before he gives it back to eastern 'til the top rebel against the chromium. Langford goes Whiteside Edwards inside the harms. What? Come on, grains. That's number three in one eight for a reason. They're talented great quickness they could put pressure on Udal five spas. You gotta take care of the ball against these guys. And in biggest thing is like you're talking about make shots when you have to. Absolutely. And you know, they, you know. A lot of times people think they're just one eight. Very well. And we got lost homes and cats and well versed avid, we were lucky to be at twenty three twenty two. We shot poorly missile words. Tonight. We were only fourteen twenty six. At our place. Eight of those misses were in the first half. Right. So we just kinda grind grinding there. The first has picked up the defensive effort a little bit in the second half. We were able to spread it out to that final sixty to fifty margin. Tell people who don't understand this game. What time you needed to arrive to get a seat in the building? Well, he was getting a little tight at about five thirty five forty tonight before the gate, and you know, the JV game was actually broadcast on the radio tonight. A little bit about the game two to media outlet. You. That were lives of the game on social media networks. It's just a lot of pomp and circumstance. But at the end of the day at the end of the I've been on both sides of this rivalry and kids from both teams play extremely hard. They grow up knowing each other playing against each other since the time there in the second third grade, and you know, there's there's always seven eight miles between right? And they get after it. And they can't really nice job there Lagoda, they run personal stuff and they got the Bauer kid who's a really nice player. And again, they they did some good things against his offense tonight. We just lucky we were lucky that we made some good defensive stops in the second half. A big effort from Austin, go back. He had twenty two four tonight thirteen rebounds, seven of those on your offense bed. So huge huge game for most of aims, go and engage Gladisch leading score. Lagoda did a great job on him in the first half. You got all those in the second Maariv were the sixty two fifty three win over the goaty Maariv in single-a ranked number four. We went to work 'cause Shannon doa really exposed and stuff. I to slice weekend. They're a great basketball team. And we went to work on this week in practice and folks on the deep into band and got the message across if you can't defend you can't play kids bought into that. Rotations are really good tonight got out and get tested a three point line with Torino southern shoots. Really? But just proud of our kids the people into Tabet to hide him turning to meet the offense force it. Sometimes we need to be reminded that we need to defend sometimes that benches a way to get people's attention. Sometimes. Yeah. Doesn't hurt? You really doesn't obviously lesson delivered lesson learned by your guys. Then tell me who plays well on the office event tonight. We were led by junior at twenty one and then Jackson senior at twelve freshman forced Preben Hallett had twelve and we had a couple of other guys with eight we're very balanced tonight. "And yeah, everyone listening if you're one of the five people that exist in this world, listen to our podcast and do not listen to part, my take or not aware of apart. My take is go listen to big hit on part of my take football everything else. Yeah. We appreciate you doing this, man. Yes. Yes. I love your podcast, and we actually left the stuff that we can talk about next time because we didn't talk about my favorite team in the whole country Nevada, and I've been a fan of them for two years now because just stay up late night watching them dominate team. So we'll do that next time. We'll do that next time. All right, man. Good. Good, faith, sip sports. All right. Thanks again to big cat. He's the best. We we should have him on more often, we should shift PF T L. But I can't forget like what the heck would be if we wanted to have PFC own. He's just kind of existent as PF t- world of of football. And I'm not really sure what the college. I think he would just be super enthusiastic like laughing at us while we were being super enthusiastic Philip. We're all the same side. But look at these jerk offs getting excited about charges. And then we'd be Wisconsin fans. That would be us. There you go. Big cat squashing. The do. We're just doing our part to squash the fake ringer, borstal beef, whatever the fuck that is we we love we love him. So they said, well, we have a few other games wanted to touch on real quick. They ACC big ten stuff. We have to mention Florida state beating Purdue a really really good game. If you were watching as it turns out, the the most hype game going into the challenge was Carolina in Michigan. But if you're watching Carolina Michigan you missed what might have been actually the best game of the challenge which. State Purdue Carson Edwards. I'll just say it again does it have enough help on Purdue? This is going to help person. He's going to help them Brian Klein like his three best teammates were white dudes. That's a problem. You can't have that. You can't have Ryan client and boob. Dro-? Matt Harvey unless you play for Wisconsin Trent forest hit a shot that was his only know assist no points, no rebounds until he hit the game winner. So that was pretty impressive also seventy shot into Hamilton. So we roasted him rightfully so for the Michigan elite eight blunder where he didn't foul at the end. What? Yeah. What do you? Do you Jacob some with the foot? The game was on. Was like it could have actually been existed. So this is everything she said was like your name is Leonard handle he was trying to. He was trying to Homer Simpson back into the bushes. Just like he's like if I just keep saying what eventually I'll just fade back, and no, but for all the shit, you give them for that. We have to applaud him for the move at the end of this game. We're Florida state's down one to have the possession arrow and the shock locks off for producer pretty has the ball. And instead of fouling Purdue they I tried to get the steel, and they get the tie-up and then the jump ball and then as floor space baseball, and that's how they hit the game winner. So that's that's going to set me, right? What? Learn how to listen to this. Another game. We're gonna talk about pin. Stay beats and knocks off number thirteen Virginia Tech one of my favorite teams in the country. Well Penn station when your favorite teams in the country. Exactly bucket Jones pet chambers said that the kids name is buckets. He gets thirteen of his eighteen in the second half. I thought he was pretty impressive button buzz Williams yet again, it's one of those games where Virginia Tech plays. Great defense has chance to win a game. Had a nice little situation there with the lead. And I dunno just they just. Yeah. Just like that. It's gone sixty three sixty two Penn State Nittany lions Goodwin for them. Also, the the race to sixty nine was won by Iowa was playing Wisconsin..
