"Shave his head as he had for stir crazy because he needed a full head of hair project he was signed on for quest for fire. He actually didn't make that movie either. So you Kinda Outta luck. During that period the making of Tarzan the eight-man that brought a lot of legal troubles for the derricks and for MGM. After Bo withdrew from another project that she had signed up for called High Road to China that was during the period where she declared that she wanted to make films only with her husband. Raymond Chow's Golden Harvest. Threaten to sue for breach of her half million dollar contract. Bo. Derek fired back though. The her agreement included director approval and that replacing director. Brian Hutton. Four High Road to China without her knowledge broke the agreement. I so they kind of parted ways more amicably. Meanwhile Warner Brothers. The ones who acquired the Tarzan rights to make Greystoke told them they should stop production the descendants of Edgar Rice burroughs sued. Mgm for violations. They claim that airs like them had exclusive rights to the work of their ancestors but MGM claimed that they were not making a film adaptation of boroughs work but a remake of their own nineteen thirty two film for which they had obtained remake rights from burroughs himself for twenty thousand dollars back in nineteen thirty one MGM. That had anticipated this would happen. And that is why they wanted the script conform to the original film's plot as much as they could. In anticipation of all of these legalities. The burroughs estate shot back that the remake rights don't hold under revisions made to the Copyright Act which voids the contract made in the nineteen thirties. But the judge while all of this was going on was not going to stall the film's production because it might collapse the prolonged lawsuit would make the Derek's move onto other things. The movie would cease to exist while waiting for this so they let them continue to make the movie while he was deciding what to do. The judge also stipulated that the contract with the author did allow MGM to make countless remakes as many as they wanted of that film and the new copyright laws do not apply. The boroughs. Family countered that what they were making was not even a Tarzan film. The one that they were making Tarzan's a bit player. And that left the intent of the film souliers trying to find ways to get Bo Derek. In State of Address. This was a derek film not a Tarzan Film. The burroughs estate pressed half Tarzan taken out of the film altogether. If they weren't going to make this traditional Tarzan movie the judge did not want to go to that extreme. He stated that there were enough plot elements carried over for this to be seen legitimately as a remake the boroughs family further stipulated that original contract the remake had to be suitable for younger audiences and that mgm was really making what amounted to softcore pornography upon seeing the film. Footage the judge. He did agree that they was too much erotic content to qualify as that and he ordered trimming down all of the sex to adhere to the standards and the Moors of the Times that were stated in the contract John Derek to cut a single frame but under the terms of his contract with MGM. They had the rights to the final cut. He had no legal. Say in the matter. Mgm wanted the film out during the summer of Nineteen eighty-one no matter what because Tarzan the ape man was their only film set for the summertime. Release and what the Writers Strike Pending. They needed that revenue to tide them through not having any films available for a little while after. Viewing the first studio edited cut. The judge asked for additional cuts to tone down. Its eroticism that they had not taken out and for this. The judge went over. All of the steamy footage that was left with the studio lawyers using a grease pencil to mark what they needed to trim. The Derek's they were livid. They publicly charge the judge with censorship in the removal of olive bows nudity. Now after all of these edits the judge finally cleared the lawsuit. He reasoned that the nineteen thirty two the pre code film. It was pretty racy for its time and this film could also be racy given that there were a lot of changes in social. Moore's over the fifty years since the first one was made a movie made in the early. Nineteen eighties will be more explicit. Now after the judge made three minutes of cuts to their finish film. Some who worked on the film joke that the judge should receive credit as the editor in the end credits. Due to this bitter experience bone just wanted to quit Hollywood. She thought making films with her husband was going to avoid all of these hassles but it was even worse than she had ever experienced that date. It just was not fun making movies and it certainly wouldn't get any more fun once. They started reading reviews. The film critics called Tarzan an abomination filmmaking. The editors of Lynyrd Mountains Film Guy that they actually considered devising a rating lower than bomb bomb being their lowest rating. Because of this movie at the end of the year it would receive six golden raspberry awards the razzies. I talk about them quite often. On this show the razzies the mock awards given to the worst films every year Tarzana. Eight-man received nominations for worst picture. Worst director worst actor. Richard Harris worst actress. Which Bo Derek one in a tie with Faye dunaway's she had done mommy dearest which took worst picture worst screenplay and miles? O'keefe as worst new star and despite the critical drubbing it received the Derek's got the last laugh. Tarzan eight man debuted at number one at the. Us box office in. Its first week of release and now is despite the fact that New York had delayed the release of the film until two weeks later so they didn't even have that big market and still came in number one above raiders of the lost Ark in its seventh week. It's scored thirty six and a half million dollars in the United States off of a budget of under seven million dollars and the reason why is because not only was bowed? Eric hot at the time but they gained a lot of publicity Bo. Derek had done is sizzling sixteen page spread in the September nineteen eighty one issue of playboy. That was out on the new sands at the time that heavily promoted the movie there was also a publicity tour that featured. Cj Clyde junior the off jealous orangutan used in the film arena town. By the way that's a head scratcher. Iran's are native to Africa even though this is set supposedly in Africa. Cj appeared on the cover of playboy along with Bo and they used him to roll out to talk shows and local news spots to gain even more publicity when it was all said and done in one thousand nine hundred one Tarzan. The APE man was the eleventh highest grossing film of Nineteen eighty-one out. Gross things like escape from New York in clash of the titans. I mean you know action. Blockbusters potentially interestingly enough though not part of the publicity tour was miles. O'keefe Miles Akif. They had him sign a contract in which he could not talk to the press at all about this film or about whatever he thought about the Derek's until two months after the release of Tar and the man eaters. I'm not sure why though he didn't really bad mouth them even after. That two months had expired now. I could go really overboard with how bad this film is. It is atrociously bad. I will say but I will give a few complements. The film's way for some of the bills and whistles John Derek. He is a talented photographer. He really does nicely. Captured the jungle locations and when those images are in unison with his very lush and appealing score by Perry Botkin. It looks good as long as there's no dialogue on the screen there are moments in here where it actually does kind of lull you into. Its you know jungle safari fantasy. That works a little bit at the time you do though. Have to just completely zone out. If you're watching this film because if you all think about what's going on on the screen has just probably gonNA drive you nuts enough to ruin your viewing experience. Bo. Derek ask her. She's not a great actress but I do think that she can be appealing within this very narrow lighthearted range she starts off in that range for a while until it gets a little bit serious and then you realize well she's really not good at all and for the first forty five minutes. I do think it actually is okay. You know it's not horrible but once. Tarzan comes on the scene which is really what most people are. Waiting for the tedium and a lot of unintentional laughs began to grow and grow and grow. And then we get this third act that plays deadly dramatic and absolutely moronic and it becomes shockingly terrible so mind-numbingly doll that undoes even the Delights of Bo Derek. And the rest of this film. I mean this really is an abysmal film by almost any measure other than the eye. Candy even robust and energetic performance by Richard Harris who normally could carry a movie but this was a year prior to ending his drunken hell-raising days his level of acting. Even if you do feel he's committed to the role. It adds a lot of absurdity to the inconsistent tone of all of the other actors in this film. It really seems out of place compared to whatever else is going on. I think the worst scenes of this film are the use of slow motion strobe effects during the action sequences. They're very prolonged. Some of them go on for whole minutes at a time. They had the time to intolerable levels. As as you watch miles O'Keefe with python around him in super slow Mo doesn't even look like they're fighting and it goes on for like two and a half minutes you know if you wanna up and grab a beer. That's definitely the time to do it. I think Tarzan the man when it's all said and done it's only going to appeal to viewers who just want to see the two gorgeous leads either nude or in various states of undress throughout most of this film. Movie Masochist. Probably enjoy this. Because they're watching one of the worst films Hollywood is ever offered and it's unashamedly so so. If you like really bad almost rancid films I think definitely does qualify for your so-called Ironic entertainment value. So this movie. I cannot recommend to pretty much anybody I mean. This is a really bad film one. I definitely do not intend to watch again even though I had a lot of fun reviewing it. I'm GONNA give Tarzan the eight-man one-star this is my first one star. Review for this podcast. One Star out of four means that I do think it's an abominable film that I do not recommend for anyone who does not intend to completely make fun of it. "It was a it was a face as your term can I push back here for a minute was it only a dipsy I mean air okay come on well how many games they played on nine I love I love Tyler Toffoli yeah but going back a couple years he was pencilled in as what thirty five or thirty goal score every year sure am I being too generous and saying no so so where is it well this picking on him I'm just saying let's let's not make let's not make a mountain out of a molehill here he had a good goal it's great let's see it most night is he your news toby reader he's my new Brendan Lips that's all right brandon like I got my I got my here Brendan License leaders forget it I got my forgettable kings four liners confused look this is the conversation we had at the beginning of the year Dave like if they're gonNA play him limited minutes in there I'm GonNa put him on the top powerplay then I think three goals in however many games were at now oh eight games three games okay that's thirty goals okay right and that's where he should be but I'll believe that when I say our right also keep in mind it's a contract here yeah no for sure but so look without being gross about it a lot of guys on this team elevate themselves made themselves look really attractive to other teams one game does not a season make what are we talking about is on a thirty days okay we'll see if that lasts I hope it does again I'm not picking on him I think it's great to goal no but it just like to see more consistency there is thirty go score or not yeah because if he isn't it's time to go it's been okay it's happening okay I'll believe it when I see it this line the guy I think he's I think he's he he has the talent to be a great player in this league I just wish we saw we've seen more we could see consistency for he needs to play with people that can help him be distant and I think he found that in Blake Lozad for sure I hope you're right and Jeff Carter there's been so much fluctuation with the lines of the season needed the one thing that stayed in the tech is intact has been the top line and then they're just kind of you know not every game but I would say every two to three games something else would change right and this line what's been three three solid games together now or four he's playing with people who can who can make her and get them the Puck 'cause he's not he's not the guy that is Kris Jenner play from start to finish Alexai follow although that move I mean he but he's not playing two hundred foot game and making his own chance he's not scoring on assisted total helper in a perfect pat like you know what I mean like he needs Blake Lozad or Jeff Carter or whatever to find him and he did lined him visit his he dragged you dragged will shuttle and you get to throw some numbers aid throw some number the voice POW radio my radio play hit the wrong thing I'm sorry hold on well the thing is what I mean is anyway so Tyler Toffoli is twelfth in minutes played total on the team now in goals per sixty he's I okay one point nine nate goal great followed up by Kovalchuk Brown and Co Petar with one point away so I mean I hear what you're saying I just think if we're going to accept the premise that that deployment can impact your numbers and then we have to at least a little bit Dan greed you know like I said to you earlier this season I wanna see Foley on p. p. one I wanNA see the Foley on the top line or or if barring that getting more even strength minutes and like you said he's ninth total minutes we're looking at obviously Dowdy Hutton Walker Martinez oh well one two three four five six so seventh in forwards minutes total okay knock right now but I mean he's making the most of the time I feel anyway here's here's my theory yeah this team goes as Jaco Petar in the first line goes yeah okay so if that line produces chances are they're gonNA win the game and Coppola had a golden right the the issue is there needs to be more scoring and that's not saying something that's really that out there but if the Charleen doesn't score someone's got to pick up the slack and that's the line that has to do it yeah he's got the tools to do it Jack Carter has the tools to do it blake lozad remains to be seen but in short span of time it's hard to do right he absolutely has the heart we'll see if he has the tools right so there has to be that extra scoring because you're probably not going to get it from Clifford and Lewis GONNA chip in here they're gonNA be consistent we're never going to get the scoring from Blake I think he's always going to be like a disruptor he's he that's fine yeah he's he's guys on line need need to finish yes which they will so so if the Carolinas in scoring there's gotTa be another line that steps up every single night and to me that's line that has do it yeah absolutely look we got goals from Kovalchuk to fully and Carter tonight so and they won the game yeah so if they do that on a nightly basis most nights they're gonNA be right they're going to be games you just can't rely on follicle Tom Brown every single night to get get it done for you so one of the things I said in my radio Voice earlier tonight on on the radio was that looking at so McClellan at the end of the game not this game at the last game the second consecutive shutout he said that he believed in the system and he believed in the guys and you know all that stuff and I like Z. so I went and I looked at all the fancy stats and the kings are in first place in like almost every fancy stat except for the actual execution goals yes so I mean we heard that this is gonNa take while you know they have to learn the system they have stop thinking game they have to start playing it and bub-bubba Papa today's point we do need to see more consistency I think you're gonna see it I mean that coal charcoal we've been waiting eighteen months to see that goal in his office waiting waiting for the mail to get there and we finally saw it tonight but right but go back to the last game how many chances did he have in the last game and he couldn't shoot the puck into the ocean full disclosure yeah I stopped watching the last okay well there you go there you go I mean stop watching it completely but I was again I'm I'm a fan and number seventeen all set but like todd McLellan said were paying him handsomely score these goals missed the net it's time art scoring the goals and I'm glad he did tonight but this has to progress now it has to keep going otherwise they're gonna be in big trouble so it'd be on foot being sent down and grunts term being sent down and Grunstein we'll be back and I'm sure they'll be other members of the seeing brought up Yep I'm at this point now where it feels to me like the entire point of this season is to find out whether Matt Royer Sean Walkers guest feels like we're about to burn eighty two games just I answered that question just that one kind of really because we know what we have in Copa Trial following Brown we know about all the mid level veterans that they can get even a you know fifty cents on the dollar they'll probably look to move them right it's not fun to say but that's just reality of it Brian Hutton forber who else is on one way deals of the year to Foley's done like there's a bunch of guys where you F- as of the end of the year I think it's insanity even doc about letting clifford or Lewis go because you just can't stop a team no eighteen year old yet so orne foots coming back next year he'll be nineteen Turkomen Arthur Kelly is on pace score one hundred fifty goddamn points uh-huh oh my God you know Fog emojis scored four goals again I mean a grand jury was against the cart of devils which is a team I had not heard of before he's scared and we know there's all these other the question is sorta now like will who's GonNa you know what did I say to you after the podcast the other a couple of games ago I said the first words out of my mouth in that podcast I like Shawa yeah I really like shocked I like.

Yao All right. I am really excited to a queue because it's one of the common ones I get. I've got two strategies today to help view hone in on how to tell the difference between fear and intuition first one is this. You've got this question that you can ask yourself to tap into your natural knowing each us has a natural knowing. It's something like a body knowing kind of like your intuition and it's simple question and it goes like this when you think about doing the thing that you're talking about confused or scared to do it. Do you feel expansive or contracted. So Gray says she has no idea what the hell that means. Let's dive into what expansive mean so if you think about something and you feel expansive. It's kind of like your shoulders open up. Your chest opens up. You get really excited. Even if there's a little bit of fear involved. It feels like Oh my God. I really love to do that. There's kind of like a forward forward motion everything expanse now. Let's talk about contracted so that feeling if you think about doing the thing you're thinking about doing and all of a sudden you start to kind of pull. Dan Or your head starts to shake. No you start to feel a sense of dread or like God that feels like pulling teeth fast sense of contraction and that's how you know if it's detracted feeling that's your intuition or your gut telling you stay away. Honey do not go near that thing with a ten foot pole on the other hand. If you feel expansive and you still have some fear go for it. It's a good thing enough see now. She gets strategy number two. You want to kind abuse that same inner ability but this time you're going to pull in your friends and here's what I mean so as a coach I often work with people and they'll tell me about the projects that are coming up and I just watch them and it's really interesting because when people start to talk about their ideas and things that they WANNA do their body doesn't like Alexa cures my body never lies and when you hear someone talking about something that they really shouldn't do. They actually start to dead like they get pasty. They start to look depressed almost like their body language starts to pull in and then when people talk about something that they're really excited about that they should do even though it scares the crap out of them they light up like a gain. Christmas tree so here's implement this you gotta get some good friends around you and you. WanNa talk through the ideas or this opportunity that you're not sure if you should take or not and have have them really pay attention now. Of course it's important that these friends are honest that you trust them and that they actually care about you and I promise you talk through this and they'll be able to tell hot minute whether or not you should go for it just based on how your body and your face is reacting now finally leave with an awesome quote from my friend. Steven Spielberg eld who I interviewed yeah he has this awesome quote which set the more important project project is to your souls evolution. The more you'll resist it blew.
