"You can't tell One thing I would say is that I walked through, even in a practice very seldom, with a ball ever hit the ground. When that the offense is humming. They were balls hitting the ground on the walk through him like why's the Why's the ball is going to get a complete and that you know, I'm thinking, Debo miss practice all week, you know? George was out. DeBose really not practiced at all. He came back that week by the Philadelphia game practice Wednesday. Thursday, Friday, walked through Saturday this past week. You didn't do anything Wednesday, Thursday Friday. And then Saturday, he was well enough to come back and they thought he was. You know, he was sick and you never buy protocols. Covert U Can't let him around the team because he made me positive. So I think that I'm just thinking they're just off here just looks a little weird, but most jumped in, and I thought most is going applied and didn't think he would. And he was limping a little bit. There was a ball CJ through behind him. He had to go on his back it to make a catch. Watch him when he gets up. And he hobbled over the sideline that come back into the game. But I was worried about him. So what, Jimmy, I think that's just you know, you've got one player. Saying, I'm not good enough to go and it's a hamstring. You know it's a different injury. But if you tear that thing you're done your season's don. There's a contract involved. There's a lot of things here. With Jimmy. He's more of the linebacker mentality. I mean, he stayed in the game in New York after hearing that angle right away. He's hobbling around held at halftime of that game. He didn't want to come out. It's just the mentality. He has. Time that you know the captain of the ship, and if we're gonna go down, I'm gonna keep playing on the Titanic. This is the way Jimmy is. But we could tell the first throw that third and six He was off and there were several throws. Where he did not have his lower body at all. But I think the plan Wass We need Jimmy's acumen. We just need our leader back worth the crossroads of our season and they see the schedule as well as everybody else, and we need to win this game. We need to go three and two and not fall to two and three. And the plan is to run the ball. We got most of it back, and we're gonna run behind this dominant offensive line that last year. When the other team knew and everybody in the stadium new and all the millions of people watching on TV knew were going to run the ball. No one could stop it. We'd still run right through them. Look at the Vikings. Look at the Packers. It just was it was they were Unstoppable. Now they're being stopped. And Trent Williams. You know, I gushed over him all off season and fond over him. When he came on the air the couple of times you're the best tackle I've ever seen and Where is that guy? That guy? I mean the fourth and won the 1st, 2nd and 5 And then you Now you're behind the down and distance. And now, Brian floors, Khun screw with you, and he's going to bring pressure. He's going to come in the age gap is going to come on the edge. He's gonna overload it. He's going to cause a bust. Where you got a middle inside linebacker Jerome Baker going right through the A gap. Nobody touches him and Jimmy gets blasted. You get outside backer on a tight end in a mismatch and Jimmy got Jimmy took that hit right in the back of his jersey up by the name plate. I thought this he could be out that would look bad. So I mean, you think you're criticizing two different sides of the argument here? You're criticizing Weatherspoon. If you're you know, Chiyo and solid would've played Weatherspoon Witherspoon, but healthy. He wasn't healthy. He said he wasn't healthy. He decided not display at the start of the game, and then he got better. On the sidelines either just got better organic, clear the events of the game. It was time to break glass. We've got an emergency here and he came into the game. So you're making You're criticizing from both sides. You're criticizing a hurt player for not playing, and then you're criticizing a hurt player for playing. So I mean, both more. I'm or criticizing because they know the personnel better than anybody so Let's go back a little bit further, which is at the receiver position when they thought they were light. They tried to get Austin. They got hurt, but they got some new on the defensive line. When they got thin. They went, got a veteran and answer again who didn't work out Dion Jordan. What I'm saying is, is that and look all these corner injuries happened fast as faras. You know, Concussions are very difficult. This isn't a perfect argument. But what I'm saying is rather than having Brian Allen out there when you went veteran and other positions. And look, I don't know how good these guys are. I don't know what kind of shape they're in. I don't know if they're hurt, but there's a list of veteran quarters that aren't great, but remain Johnson Desmond to font Prince Amukamara guys like that. Sherman Williams is 37. I get it, Maybe they wouldn't have done any better. But to put Brian Allen out there and to see what happened to him with a good veteran quarterback who targeted him. They just came up short and weren't prepared now. Maybe they couldn't have been. Maybe maybe it just happened so fast with all the injuries they couldn't have been. But they certainly found himself short at the corner position when it other positions When they got hurt. They went out and tried to get a veteran there. Maybe the injuries. A corner just happened so fast, but clearly without the Russias, you said, without afford without a boat without that kind of pass rush, and then to put that kid out there the way that they did. He just got torched, and I really don't blame him because there was nothing he could have done and the only reason he was out there is because he's a big corner. Seattle had an Mi 63 to 15 with 30 foreign charms, but clearly he can't play in the league. That's why I don't know if you could say I think he needs to change his technique. But whatever. I mean, Dante Johnson gave up. Ah, nine route Touchdown. The cost you gay on Sunday night football. And I mean not everybody is going to be Jason Beretta, Richard Sherman or K. Juan Williams or Emmanuel? Mostly, so I, you know, based on what Kyle said yesterday after the game. They're very encouraged about Emmanuelle, mostly. And being cleared Eso. If he comes back this week, you may see them make a change with roster. You know they obviously I'm going to go back on the practice squad. They may make a decision with color, Witherspoon. One way or the other with him. Because, you know, hey, did come into the game later, he did pick up a P I Later in the game. But he was in the mix to be a starter. To start the year and opposite a Sherman. It was between those three guys, mostly Beretta and Witherspoon. Nana Kelly's career is at the crossroads here. There's just no other way around it, so we'll see how they react to it. But they felt like they know all the guys that are on the street. Adam Peters has a whole ready list..
Fresh update on "brian floor" discussed on The Pat McAfee Show
"Craziest stat was that the Bills gave up 195 yards rushing before Contact. Yeah, that That offensive line that is down a couple of guys, by the way. For the Kansas City Chiefs Just move the Earth. But even win Clyde Edwards aware got hit. They couldn't tackle him. She had. The biggest problem was that the guys up front got moved by the Chiefs offensive line. But then even when they had a chance to bring down a layer that couldn't Steve says both will another overhyped team Still another year way after completely overhauling defense bills have been bad for so long Any improvement and they're winning the NFC Championship on pump the brakes. And the Finns air playing much better. Ryan. They will be right in it also. Speaking. Of your fins, Steve. You heard Matt West update at the top of the hour. The Dolphins have reportedly tabbed to a tongue of I Loa to be their starter. Now they're going into a bye week. Which is why this was the date that many Dolphins fans were targeting. As teams with young quarterbacks tend dio you target The game after the bye week, because you say Well, two weeks to get ready, you can make that transition. And get the rookie ready to take NFL snaps. But I don't think this was the plane. I hear I've heard people today. Go on radio, Go on television and talk about how this was always the plan. I don't think it wass. I think Brian Flores. With the way things have gone. Would have been perfectly all right with leading to a sit behind Ryan Fitzpatrick until the Dolphins fell out of contention. And That's what makes the timing so curious to Steve's point. And the Miami Dolphins are actually in second place. Last segment. We're talking about the bills and the Patriots, the Dolphins air wedged in between those two teams. Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown I believe eight touchdowns in two picks. The last two or three weeks. Doesn't play bad. The Dolphins are winning their fair share of games. So why now? Was that the plan all along? I don't I don't believe it. Wass. I think the success of Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert Force Brian Floor is his hand. And I don't know if this is coming from the general manager or Stephen Ross, the owner or the public. I mean, Tio Brian floor is jokingly acknowledged that he read Cameron Wolf, who used to write for I believe The Denver Post might have been the Rocky Mountain News. I used to cover the Broncos before he went to Miami. But You always joking, like, Oh, I saw that You said I should play too late in the game, so I decided to play too late in the game like The pressure on Brian Flores. To play to a was mounting. I think, even in his own head Ryan Flores seems like a pretty Self confident, self assured, type guy. I don't know that he's Two suede By public opinion. Perhaps a little bit more swayed if it's coming from inside the organization, but I just think internally You look across the league and Joe Burrow and Justin Herber are doing what they're doing, and you just feel like It's time to get the guy in with the bigger ceiling. What Ryan Fitzpatrick has been has been enough. But that's it. On ly been enough..

Why won't NFL teams hire minority coaches?
"Three head. Coaching spots have been filled this week. But none of those. Three coaches were minorities while the Rooney rule has been followed. Some are beginning to believe that minority forty candidates are not being taken seriously for the open jobs and anonymous African American. NFL Assistant Coach said that the League has quote finally shown. It's not the place as for black men to advance. It's ridiculous it's disgusting. We can sell tickets and make plays but we can't lead Shannon. Why isn't the Rooney rule role working? Well I think until skip this diversity thing yeah. Diversity is a great great to talk about but until you get someone the leadership position that says you know what. I don't just want to talk about it. I want to be about it so until you get older ships that actually wants to put some substance to this and this is what that you're GonNa get now if the general manager there's one general manager that's what minority and that's CR- Chris greer in Miami. There's zero owners that are it shouldn't say minorities. I guess because shot con radically a minority. But when you get the gist of what I what. I'm trying to say until leadership gets more diverse. You're I'm not gonNA have a more diverse hiring background skills. This was puzzling to be. Is that Eric. Enemy has the exact Zac job that Matt Nagy had negative and call plays any recall. Please man they can get the job. Doug Peterson sedinko plays true. Recall to play around Rivera's on but Ron Rivera was not the defensive coordinator in Philly. He he became a D. coordinator what's he got to the D. Coordinator in Chicago. You are you in San Diego. Yeah but he got his getting these enter coaching tree. Eric B enemy has the exact same job. That Matt Nagy Doug Peterson has and he's not getting opportunity is spirit but this. I don't really think that they go into it. Unless you incentivize this. Okay if you how minorities kill we maybe you have an extra three to five five dollars and cap space. That's the only thing that resonates with these owners because I get it skipped if I spent three billion. Let's just say I spent three billion dollars for a restaurant run. You Go tell me what the hell I need to cook. Cook whatever I WanNa Cook it there. And that's how they look at it. Jerry Jones spent money for this. This this mind you oh tell me why should get killed but but this notion that Oh and they brought Muhiba Marvin Marvin Lewis. He brought him in to to do that. Situation wasted the same with the giants the giants they had irebi enemy. They what Joe Judge Chris Rashard Rashard. Excuse me Chris Restoring. Yeah so now. Now we're down to one. Vacant Cleveland Reunion. I'm talking about how good already know. Angle get no frills JAYCO network skill. He already interviewed there. So you would now now the take my name off the leader and solid rubber solid. Take my name off the list. Because he's GonNa get Mad Max two and a half years if you're lucky that seems to instead that's all Jimmy can stomach now if you look at it they keep these. You look at Mike Patton. You look at all the guys they've had and these guys have had I think. Hugh Jackson stayed the longest at two and a half years. But everybody's been two years the list huge only two and a half two and a half long but you get you get these other guys you get pretty kitchens and you look at patent and you look at a I forget. Just give all these one year jazz. WE ACHE AAC CLEVELAND. That in Cleveland of the North this skill ruining rules a joke. I get it. You know minorities Cadillac. An affirmative action thanksgiving. Yeah but in -firmative action. I guess it's federal dollars. You'RE NOT GONNA get the money if you don't do this. The NFL is a is a private entity. So what can you do. What Ki- what can you give? Nfl Do not the so. I have been tracking this for a long time because one of my best friends is John. Wooten who is now the retired leader of the Fritz Pollard. Alliance and he was the driving force behind instituting the Rooney rule as I hiring practice in the national shirow all league and John's point from the start was I just need interviews because if a young assistant coach gets interviewed a couple of times times it gets reported in his name gets out there and if another owner sees that name enough over maybe a couple of years hiring cycles else maybe an owner says chee that guy. He's getting a lot of interviews. Maybe I should bring in. Maybe I should be more open minded to him. But if you're GONNA curse because if I get a a lot of interviews and I'm not getting hired was wrong why here the me getting hired cave liability with that. But John's point in the end was I'd rather have interviews than not have interests. Okay okay so let's go back to the stat that I use last week. The Institute of Diversity and Ethics In sports twenty nine thousand nine racial and gender report card for the National Football Bali. The League got actually an a plus for hiring of color. Assistant coaches right a sit a plot. Oh that's progress right. It got a deep loss for hiring head coach of Color White eight-plus assistance d-plus head head coaches. There's a big disconnect there and it shows you. That owners are fine. Oh hire two or three black assistant fine with that but nope nope. I don't want to head coach to be black. Right gives quite to the restaurant you can cook. You'll be in the bank but Michelle not the bridge. I roll up now okay so when I texted back and forth last we can use this last week of John Wooten just beside himself now. He is devastated by this this development his point was that only one. GM Chris Grin Miami. Point out is use. John's word heartbreaking because it could start with the GM right a black GM of or of color could be more open minded to say to the owner. Hey listen this guy is really bring him in. Let me let me introduce him to you right. The conduit to the owner can be stronger. Iran have I don't know six or eight black. GM right right. We've had them around the league four or but all of a sudden there's a dearth to rape Barma with Barma within Cleveland. He'd Gone Rick Smith who I know very well be in Denver. He interviewed for The Washington. Ashington John Daniel Snyder said head coach could be a head coach. Basically general manager after the Washington like who are the head coaching after the draft. The General Mattis. Okay so sometimes there is group think or shink sheep among the owners because in the end they do want to win right. And if they're looking around the League league and that black head coaches really successful they say well I want one of those. I want to go that direction right well. There was one black head coach who started to have success late in the year ear and he happened to be allied with Chris. Clear in Miami and Brian Floors off the Patriots. Well they started out all time badge for about what seven seven games fifty. Nine seven opening renders and then they basically it felt like they turned the whole roster iside down which they needed to do and then all of a sudden the last nine games they go five and four they upset the eagles and then they went to foxborough and just basically ended the season. I thought for the new New England Patriots playoff teams right. Okay so all the sudden Brian floor floor with the help of Chris greer. They're having big success. It looks like it's headed in the right drug us us but it wasn't enough of a splash to create momentum through the hiring process and right because John Wooden again texted me back with so many names he said we have so many in the pipeline. Who already started with Eric? B Enemy and Chris Rock. I think Chris Shaw Bad Year on defense but when I watch him interviewed when I watch his body language. It's a stunt man he's he's got. CEO Written all over him. He looks like a commanding officer to me. There's not enough black head coaches skip. Because because you look you look at Mike McCarthy guest job he hires the guy that gave him his opportunity coordinator fifteen years ago so you see the circle. We'll skip once you become a head coach. What do you do you go to the combine? You go to say elbow you got your drake. He goes to the coaches meeting and Yada Yada Yada and to connect with the boom boom boom right right. So if I'm not in that Lou. How do I get into loops? Because a rid of staff they said eighty percent of the jobs are never posted so in other worth people get hired somebody a friend or family member is not what you know who you know There in live the roof. It does house so to finish John. Bruton's list of pipeline candidates being AMEE. Chris Rashard Robert Sala. He threw Jim Caldwell on his list. Is Jim Colwell was highly successful zestful. Jim called wheel lost his jaw. Going nine and seven in two years Matt Patricia has nine total win and he's still got a job now he goldwell still doesn't have another job he in four years. He went to the playoffs twice in the last year he went nine and seven and they said well you know we need to move in a different direction. uh-huh and the guy that's replaced has yet to win nine total games in two years. Do you still own a still on the clock. Okay Steve wilks got one shot in time. I'm one year in Arizona and he was gone. He's now the defensive coordinator in Cleveland which probably didn't help his cause this year that much but I don't hear his name no in Cleveland right right on the list. And then there's Terrel Austin who's young stripes potential star coach and John Wootton into his list with Marvin Lewis who he thinks deserves a second shy right. Okay so Jerry. Jones did observe in qualified for the Rooney rule by bringing in. I Marvin Lewis. I think Jerry was shrewd operating waiting there. Because he didn't pick a young like like Chris Rashard type interview him because of Jerry had interviewed a young potential upcoming head. Black coach right. There's more pressure on Jerry. What was wrong with right? What's the problem exactly? He went to Marvin Lewis because he thinks Marvin Lewis is kind of old news right right. He got his longtime time shot in Cincinnati. Listen I still think Marvin did a good job job seriously. Yes okay he went. Oh and seven in the playoffs but still it was Andy Dalton Alton you re you with covering the NFL and you remember what Cincinnati before. Marlene got there was John. Carter number one overall. You Got David Cleland with the fourth. The fourth picket. You got big day to day and Wilkerson purse around the second pick in the draft year after year after a year people. Forget what I know. Marvin didn't win a playoff game. But they weren't even getting close to the playoffs for Marvin got there. No so I was disappointed in Jerry because you know my heart Hartz. I'd love to see Jerry Jones higher black head coach and I think I probably won't live long enough or Jerry will live long enough to know.

"The watch the guy who replaced him Brian floor is getting Gatorade shower eat illiquid doubly insulting or as I like him a lot I think he's got something as a coach I gotta say you know what I'm glad you brought him up and and I know you just touched on it but what the doctors have done even though they only have four wins that's it if you can believe it that's impressive four wins I cannot believe won four games one or two wins top so yeah I agree with you he's setting a culture and I think that is really and I don't know how you feel about this show so I want to buy you but what he's been dangerous potentially from what I've seen the past few weeks I've heard players good players tomorrow Adams after the gates stand on a lady on down to Jenkins they talk about injuries and you'll never hear Tom Brady you never heard rob out any patriot prayer every use injuries as an excuse because bill Belichick and never allow that to be a part of who they were because he never spoke about it and I think you're hearing too many players on this team explain away some of their struggle this year yeah and point injuries in that's a direct reflection from what you hear from the head coach I think that's an excuse they've got injuries patriot that injuries the Steelers head injuries every team had injuries just rarely hear players repeatedly bring it up and sometimes without provocation so that has to change winning teams don't act like that would be given credit for his domination and another thing I got to throw out you Jamal Adams that whole thing about and by the way to get a page Amal Adams and made an offer this nonsense I don't want to see him go anywhere but here okay he's he's become the best safety in football I don't need another derail review situation paid a guy okay that's that's me and I think I speak for most Jeff fans when I say that are you feel about it but I don't give you give ME two first round picks I want your mile items on my team all right so let me say that great okay but one thing that has happened here manage I mean that whole thing that went down about him being traded and nobody told them that you know he said he read that they would never trade him and anyone who tried to trade him he's going to different places that let's be honest since that happened Moniz this guy's been the best safety football that extra juice whether that's with without the you know that it's right and I think part and it's a great wind using him in a way to to make dynamic place near the line of scrimmage I'm not in agreement with you they need to lock him up the idea is not keeping him because the quote on quote doesn't.

"One's out here clamoring to get Willie's need. That's not the same thing with Morris. Taking a French was down. That was becoming irrelevant as good as they've been recent years and he's made them interesting and topical and a team that everybody wants to see this year's here's have always been good under Russell Wilson. He's always been what it's been like like what's what's been people sell them. Sure no listen how was it wasn't the MVP type season now. This is the first season where everybody's hit. Maybe Russell Wilson is. Maybe the best quarterback fully been doing this for years. We had a segment weeks ago. Where Greenie asked who? If you pick any quarterback who you start a franchise Russell Wilson he's great but Lamar's more valuable right now. Okay so so we can leave this here for a moment because we have created something new dominique if nothing else he gives us ideas to create new segments. And so we're going to debut today and it's called said no one ever because dominique how many foxworth makes a habit and what I like about you is that it is sincere. You don't do it to be sensational but you say things all the time that I've literally never heard anyone else say so. I have challenged orange. You give us a said no one ever. What is something you steadfastly believe that no one has ever set allowed before all right? Brian floor is should be considered for coach of the year in your own sitting. No one ever put that in there. I'll let you react. I'll let you have a hard our Tom and now I'm going to bring you over to. The coach of the year has always been a simple equation results minus expectations. The expectations for this team team was Owen. Sixteen they started out this year with a point differential of negative thirty seven the worst average through four games in last six games they have now brought their point. Difference down to less than five points a game which is a touchdown essentially. He has taken that expectation. A team where culture is incredibly important to success in. NFL You know that right. How impossible one of the reasons why I hate.

Hey that or these guys worked extremely hard. they've done it all summer that under and it would also bring they'll continue to do so this party negative thought to to even say that. but I will respect the game and much of the game. it's just. okay that is. well look it's not Brian floors is called the trade Laramie council that's the front office it's not right for his job to decide on what compensation they want to get an act that is all above his head and the dolphins I don't blame them here they had a buyer that was going to give them to number one to number two for Larry tonsil the fact that they were able to get more for Laramie tonsil than the raiders copper Khalil Mack tells you that that's kind of a deal that you can't say no to are they trying to lose I don't know are they trying to win well they're trying to stockpile draft picks to have an entire core group of guys come up at the same time I don't blame them I think this is the right move for a franchise that has been twenty five years of mediocrity I don't see how you can blame them for that so are they trying to tank I mean I I just think that that's a screwy Dolby stuff where media members wanna get all bent out of shape because that becomes a narrative all they're trying to lose the trying to tank but the fact is you need to have a game plan and the dolphins have been mediocre to below mediocre for twenty five years you know what switch it up and if that means stockpiling draft picks you have to use them correctly but to build a core group of guys to come up together and that perhaps then suddenly you are the next Cleveland Browns were you've got a lot of young talent and you find a franchise quarterback and now there's expectations that's the right move I mean if in three or four years you were to say yeah the dolphins will be the next Cleveland Browns unknown inexperienced bought big expectations and a chance to turn around the franchise that that's the right move so just stop it with everybody claiming they're trying to lose the trailers maybe they're just trying to execute a game plan a business plan and it's not a bright bright for is anyway he's just there to coach on Sundays and obviously coach dated a football but that's not the long term business plan right now for the dolphins now I'm not saying it's going to work is god knows that owner Stephen Ross rarely does anything work very. but it's at least a business plan. you know all about huge trees here on the D. a shell but how bout Hugh freeze Hugh freeze is the head coach of liberty he was coaching on Saturday night from a hospital Gurney. he has been dealing with a staph infection all able to be in his own feet unable to be on the sidelines as liberty posted Syracuse so instead of Hugh freeze itself is a huge would normally do. to do his job from bad. he later in a hospital bed from the coaches box thank coasting called plays laying down. here was Hugh freeze it almost a third down because you know he's been out there and you know work with those down plans you know in in defensively hours just until Scotton towns and what I saw they were trying to do on third downs and you know that's what I did here tonight in all different is on not now they're talking to officials in column townhouse we need to and and many I have a hard time kind of find the talks to you know from here and have a game park here the absolutely and it's kind of hard to see it over there so it was it was a little different I don't live years whilst being down there on our players and hopefully hopefully I'll be back down there very very soon I mean what we. honestly what we do. I know that you want to get off on the right foot. this first day first game coaching is do programa but when there was the scene. in the locker room. for all the guys are taken in the and it feels like it's any given Sunday or ballers or Friday night lights they're all taken either looking to their code for inspiration. and they're looking at a flat screen T. V. on the wall as their coach the ladies in a bed a couple of floors off. give them up have speech is like what this is so ridiculous this is so what really ridiculous it reminded me of Charlie's angels where they're getting their marching orders from somebody that they they don't see the face up they don't ever see like what is Charlie look like who knows he just. gives us the marching orders on a big flat screen TV or on the phone like that's what you freeze basically wise Charlie's angels for Saturday's game in all by the way they got shot out I mean was that worth it was it worth it to be suffering from a staph infection hope you're on a hospital Gurney coaching from the press box the whole thing was just what I honestly what we doing here. and finally Mario Cristobal head coach the Oregon ducks. being criticized for Mr managing the game game time and time out in the loss to Auburn with the wrong personnel was in and we got the personal straightened out they were they weren't quite sure as to who was gonna do what but when when them we take it as a coaching staff that's on us so that was Mario Cristobal and let's put the script now to the other side of this was bone decks. as the true freshman comes down the field in the waning seconds and throws the game winning touchdown sixteen seconds in the foreign mix. in all fairness you know his first start he went against one of the better teams in the country and this kind of environment yeah we did some really good things but when the game was on the line he found a way to to win the game. so that was Gus Malzahn and that was auburntigers radio on the call. first of all a bone X. that's a true freshman in a big spot granted to neutral site but playing against a top fifteen team in organic and you've got a lot of pressure down late and next was very inconsistent early and had thrown a couple bad passes ends up going for the gusto with nine seconds to play they were already in field goal range so look like Auburn is lining up to kick the game winning field goal anyway but bone X. goes and zone for the dagger and that's a great thrall and a gutsy decision he put it on the money that's just a big time play and it really pays dividends for gosh going with bone X. a true freshman there. so good when by Auburn but for Oregon that's there is a lot of criticism on crystal ball here I mean organ called a time out before the first play the game. how does that possibly happen you're opening up this season you of seven months to decide how that first please gonna go you call time out. plus you're back to back time outs before fourth in one in the fourth quarter. and you don't you're not draining clock you're running a kind of pseudo hurry up late in the game when you have the lead and Auburn ends up throwing the game winning streak with nine seconds to play which is easily nine second you could have drained off the clock. crystal ball has I think a lot of things that you like about a head coach and certainly last year there were some things the ducks fans were happy kind of arrow pointed up and this year big expectations I do believe that the best team the pac twelve although what we just saw from Utah to open of the season major believe that maybe you TA is but for forgetting crystal ball he's going to take this one of the Chinese gonna take the responsibility because there is a lot of ways they could have won and they punted on all of them in this game. how to get to a couple of teams in the NFL but I think could be dark courses in our number three..

I may not be remembering that completely clearly but i think that's how the whole thing went down. He said no to that yeah. I have to push back on the whole. I i think this caught the n._f._l. Off guard would capture nic like how big it was a called kapernick off guard how big he became if you remember in real time from august all the way through the year ear there's no proper reaction because no one knows the enormity of it and so i think that's where i wanna be clear here too. I wanna bring this back to kenny steals and brian floors people for years. Oh there's no distraction. There's no distraction with the whole kneeling thing. That's just a misnomer. That's misidentifying. I read today and i believe it was on e._s._p._n. But i read a story today someone wrote and they said what brian floor is the playing those songs was a distraction and they cast it in a very negative light that his reaction implant the idea that was a distraction and that's a distraction by the thing would have to be a distraction as well because it's in response bounce to him having said something about the person that he's planning music about so i've been in the locker room. Everyone says something is not a distraction but at the end of the day you don't wanna have to answer questions about anything. There's somebody else's doing unless it's football related so if it's not football related it it is a distraction guys won't admit it but marcus speak to that is a distraction that you don't want to coach an executive. When you you come to work. They want you thinking about football not who the team owner had a fundraiser for not whether jay z's partnership with with the n._f._l. Is appropriate or not they want you thinking about football and that to me is what brian floor is is pushing back. It's like man. We're paying you a lot of money to think about and to produce on the football field i think i think it's really interesting too because we always talk about it as players. You don't talk about money religion and politics all right. That's what they always talk about. That's all out to win. The right. Political correctness is just so out of control. You can't say anything without being judged in in happy to take home danes hair cinemark slayer at their back time now for big story. Let's move to cam newton before the show moves along. Professional interests ahead of what's meaningful to you personally so kenny stills is saying. I don't really understand this because racial. Equality is way more important to me. Social justice is way more important to me than my job so i want this all out in the open like dan said here's another thing that makes this complicated for brian flora's beyond beyond the idea that he would look like a black man who's not supporting these black men who are giving their bodies to these cards. This owners actually giving black people more front office positions then they usually have throughout the n._f._l. The dolphins had never had this much african american representation at the high end of their organization so i understand why bryant floors would try to protect the meaningfulness of that which is real opportunity. She really seem to tom brady when he also not to read into him selling housing boston. Here's what the situation is. What tom brady once we learned of the details of his contract. We realized that we might be headed in a year to tom. Brady free agency and this house being sold add smoke to where you might think that fires but izzy this organization has put its name publicly publicly on tom. Brady gets to end this the way that he wants to end it. They traded garoppolo in a war with bela check and choosing brady side and then stamped it right before the super bowl by putting their name on tom. Brady gets to be our quarterback for as long as he wants to be. I think this is brady's. Call one way or the other whichever which way this goes whether it was the garoppolo situation or this could be tom just sort of flexing in these quiet moments and yes like you said every single time one of these big time athletes puts their house for sale. There is something there just because tom brady says hey don't read into that because of the difficult to sell a forty million dollar house yes of course that's true but it's also so true. You're putting yourself in the position to leave there. There's no reason for us not to look into it. Of course of course he's got to other giant homes within a ninety mile radius so this is just one uh-huh. Maybe a third of him. We'll play some other team for a discount and that'll win the super bowl. You know what he's selling his house because he's moving into nursing chrissy home. Nursing home assisted living take things out of his off of his mind. Let other people take care of him while he's playing. He's going to win a super bowl with a nurse chasing racing after him with a bedpan.

"Miami dolphins headed to tampa bay for these joints practices. They will get a chance to go up beginning stayed in posing defense and opposing offense as well actually dynamic offense with new head coach bruce arians. We saw some new things pop out in their preseason jason game this past weekend and it's just a great opportunity for the team to see different things you know in when you go up against each other in practice that's right you kind of understand what each other's are trying to do and it doesn't create the full competitive environment in terms arms of having to try to guess per se you know what the offense is doing your what the defense is doing and try to mismatch and game plan and chess piece against stat so this opportunity while these practices are scripted in advance. It's not like either team knows that's exactly what play the other is going to run so it's really a nice opportunity to clean things up for these coaches to continue to get their feet wet for these players to open against competition petition. They have not seen this training camp and listen more than likely. We're going to see a training camp scuffle here in there as you know they're hitting different guys and it's in the dog. Days of training camp were nearing towards the end and these guys are ready to rock and roll so that will happen. The dolphins will have their next preseason game game on thursday evening against tampa bay buccaneers in tampa bay. "Brian floor. He labels him as the defensive assistant writings of play caller. But he is deeply Cornell. What about that during the Super Bowl? And I'm sorry. Sorry to interrupt. You James it drove me nuts that Tony Romo the whole time during the Super Bowl whenever it was McVay on offense. He was saying like shall McVeigh's offense needs to get it going. But whenever the Rams were getting shut down by the defense. He kept giving Bella check. Ever mentioning floor as you see the play. It's not like a situation like we're Sean Payton or someone else. And you know, the offensive coordinator, Brian floors is right there with the sheet in front of him yelling at the defense calling it and he's getting no credit for it. And so in in to my point, I'm not gonna pull the race card, but to Sean Payton who does he learn from. He learns from Bill Belichick they have joint practices. They have meetings amongst themselves in an off season where they get their same principles from. It's the same exact BS that that bell. Check is done the champion's doing here. How you gonna deny guy from his career? I wonder if Aaron Glenn could like just resign. Resign. They probably some language in the contract. This might be a stupid question when did this rule change because there was a point where I understand being able to not really but block guys from lateral moves because like if he was going to be the defensive back coach in Cincinnati. I remember you can block it. But they used to be a time where if it was a move up on the on the coaching. So I think this is a recent thing. "It's challenging football environment is pressures always on and for moments like this because you've got to rise to the -cation Cocchi spent a lot of time working with Bill bell check within that system. What is it about that system that breeds winning environment? The use of the word challenging is. When I use the word emerging. It's a little bit of a euphemism. And it's hard. It's a hard environment. And it's consistently hard. And they demand your best every single day. Whether it's OTA's whether it's training camp off season program, you're expected to perform as a professional in and had a very high level and there's consistently pressure on that. And that's not for everyone. And then if you do something, that's that's incorrect. You're going to be that's going to be shown, and that's going to be coach, and that's going to be coaching front of the group. And that's not for everybody either. And that's not embarrassed guys. That's because collectively there's an accountability. I'm accountable to ever. Everybody else. And there's the you want people to know who's holding up their end of the bargain and who's not holding up there in the bargain. Then there's this constant in the moment focus where it's not about last year. It's not about next week. It's about being in the moment focusing on that moment doing the best that you can do in that moment. And then moving onto the next moment. It's not for everybody. So when Brian floor goes down to Miami your map, attrition goes to Detroit owner say this is what we want. Okay. It's not necessarily what they want because you're gonna hit some turbulence, and it's whether or not you can deal with that turbulence and stay true to it to get to the other side. And typically, it's, you know, most people want you to cook a Turkey, but they wanna in a microwave, and it doesn't pay scored. If you do it that way. I think this is to me it to me. This is instructive about almost anything. And I don't wanna be cliche, but things that are worth doing are difficult. And if you wanna do things consistently at a long level at a high level for a long time, pardon me, it is going to take consistent focus attention to detail and finding ways to get better every day. It is hard to coast. It is there's a reason that some of the most successful people, and some of the people that have the greatest stories are people that learned at a very young age. I'm going to have to work for everything and as many benefits as kids of rich people have one of the one of the drawbacks is you you don't always get that instilled in you that how hard things actually are to accomplish anything worthwhile. And I would imagine for some guys in the NFL. Maybe I'm speaking out of turn. Here. You guys can tell me if I'm wrong for some guys making the NFL is the destination like it. You've once once you're an old player while I've arrived, and it seems like in New England it is instilled. This is the beginning of the journey like just getting to the NFL. Okay. Good. You all of you did that are in this room. But the constant focus on getting better every day. You have to know all the rules. You've got to know all the details. You've got to prepare for situations that you might think might only come up once an entire season that would be exhausting for a lot of people who I think feel like I've already accomplished so much this. This is what I've learned and it's more about human beings and being athletes. Most people do not want the hardest room. Most people aren't focused on a day today basis. Most people are not high achievers most people are not self driven. So most people cannot derive or survive in this environment. It's a very. Very rare, rare work environment. It's nowhere like it in the NFL. And the only way I can make some type of comparison to it. Because it's based on the human beings that run it, and it's Nick Sabin. And what he does it album. It's a different stage different group of young men that he's going to lead. He is perfected that dislike Bill check has perfected. What to do in pro football in the things they have in common is far as every day what their expectations are..

It didn't wanna get anyone in trouble. You know, that it wasn't really sure the whole story behind it. But someone. Had tweeted to me, I forget who it was at this point. But there is a discussion about Brian Flora's. And someone had tweeted to me they tag me in it. They tagged some others in its, and basically it was just saying that Brian floor is leading candidate to be the dolphins head coach. And I think this was on Wednesday of that week or so Tuesday or Wednesday and then a little while later. I get a person who tagged me saying look at Tom Garfinkel, just like my tweet, which was tagging me and others linking to the tweet said Brian floors is leading candidate and medium like, whoa. Why would he like that tweet? So I screen shot at it. Just have it for future reference. I threw it up on my on my feet time. Does follow me on Twitter? So we know he's out there searching dolphins fans are saying about Brian floors and others and the whole organization as a whole getting pulse on the fan base. Which is a good thing to do. And then I tweeted out and then within twenty minutes tweet was. Unliked by Tom. So at the time was like, okay. He's trying. He may be trying to tell us something. He may have slipped up who knows? But this is fun. And at that point. I had heard Brian floors was leading candidate. But I couldn't confirm with another source, and then it just kinda came into focus from that point forward. But it is definitely a game. It stressful and stressful in the sense because. You almost feel a responsibility to report this information out to people and at the same time. You're putting yourself way out there for everyone to see. At this point. You know, I'm looking at my Twitter profile right now, I have over eight thousand followers, and I'm very thankful the eight thousand of you plus want to listen to my nonsense. But when I put something out there, I've realized and I'm not trying to be here and be pompous or whatever, I'm just speaking the truth. But I'm at the point our put something out there. People who follow me and within dolphins, Twitter and little other. Areas on Twitter little other little pockets people run with what I say from now on and I had tweeted something a few weeks ago, and it was an opinion. And it could have been construed as incentive for mation. And I forget what it was. But that's about fifteen minutes. I deleted it. Because I saw some people starting to run with it. And I wasn't really sure that I was comfortable with that being run with. So I took it down. But you know, when I put out that incentive for mation out there. It's run with and if it's wrong, I know I'm going to hear about it. So usually now I need to make sure that I'm really comfortable with what I'm reporting out there. So when it does happen, you know, people can look at me as credible source. And then someone who really does have the inside information someone who does have the scoop, and I do think might trekker does speak for it self. So I'm very proud of that. I haven't missed a ton of I have missed a few haven't missed a ton. And I just hope to continue to. Gain source is moving forward and continue with the incentive for Mason reporting. I know I'm I'm proud dad. And when I see anybody disagree with you on Twitter. I just get a little bit sad inside. I hope everybody will come to their senses your mobile blue haters going to hate all I gotta say speaking of haters gonna hate the patriots are coming as the underdogs this weekend against the chiefs. And they have brought the insufferable level to new highs. Miami Dolphins zeroing in on Brian Flores
"The story broke yesterday. That the Miami Dolphins job, which is the last vacancy, right? That the insider to get the job was New England's defacto defensive coordinator, Brian Flores, now there've been a lot of talk about this Dallas assistant coach. What's his name, Richard Richards, who's African American of being in line to get the Miami job? So when it was announced Brian Flora's apparently is going to get the job Clarence hill who covers the Cowboys for over twenty years said the richer got screwed over. And apparently, the NFL is now over when it comes to hiring, a black coaches even added the line does Colin Kaepernick cab job. Well, immediately clear and sills tweet was met by people saying, do, you know, Brian floors is an after many people posted a photo of Brian floors. And by the way, it's a great story floor as you grow up in the projects in New York. It's been with the patriots organization started as a scout wral obviously elevated to defensive coordinator Clarence dill finally responded by. Saying my bad on Bryant Flora's. It's been a bad day. All ran a lost my driver's license on my company credit card. I'm checking into my LAX hotel and going to bed. That's a good idea Clarence because again race baiting in the NFL. I don't know is productive. But there are going to be a lot of questions. No question Kerry about a season, which five African American head coaches were fired and maybe not even official about floors right now. Right. One will be hired. What are what are your thoughts right now about the current state of the Rooney rule is it necessary and just the general view of who should be hired who's should be in line for these NFL head coaching job? Well, the Rooney Rooney the Rooney deal is I guess it's it's necessary. I think we have to have equal opportunity and have people give people of color have a chance to get a job. I mean, I think that's absolutely necessary. But I also think that situations like this. This sets it back. Right. You have a guy that's popping off about a situation that he really doesn't know you have to actually research stuff, you have to actually get to the bottom of what's going on before you actually tweeted out somebody who's in his position who's been there for twenty years twenty year doing NFL for a long time. It's not know that Brian. Patriots. I didn't know who he was. That's that's pretty sad on his part. But yes, the rule is necessary. But I also think the necessary they most qualified guys to get the job also believe in that as well. I don't think you just give somebody a position because of color or race or gender or whatever the case might be. I think the most qualified person gets the job. But yes, Rooney rule is necessary. Well, I think the Arizona situations. What really started a lot of people you hire Steve walks in a situation where you're bringing in a rookie quarterback. And it doesn't work. It's a disaster. They go three and thirteen coming off an eight eight season, right. And they fire him. He's not the first guy that's been a one and done guy s p Carol. He was a one and done guy with the New York Jets. So a lot of people have been one and done guys. But because he's African American, and then you go out and hire cliff Kingsbury, right? Who had a losing record at Texas Tech who has no track record of being a winning head coach that's worthy the alarm bells. Are going off. Absolutely. Yeah. You can't like like, I just said you have to hire qualified people do to do these jobs. This is the business where it's all about winning. It's about putting the product on the field and that product has to win. So if you're bringing a guy like Kingsbury a guy who you just said lost in college got fire thirty five and forty. Yeah. He's he's not he's not a winner. Bye. Bye. Bye. Winning standards. He's not that guy yesterday to bring a guy like that coach, Patrick Mahomes coast, Patrick Mahomes, but anybody goes in record, right? So for him to come in there right after that fire, and that's just not a good look for Arizona. Yeah. The one and done doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I mean. Yeah. Ended up having to pay the guy off. Anyway, I think that one season for any coach really isn't very fair. We're in the Geico Fox Sports radio studios. We talked a lot about games today. There's a couple of charger guys out here that are really anxious about tomorrow.

"On replaceable all a bulletproof right all the because if you're on replaceable at your job if if the noone can fill your shoes you have the ultimate power and and i know working in the broadcasting business in having lost a job or two along the way here and been on the beach as they say i know very well that i am just just hear passing through the time easily replace but mac patricia we know he is not walking back through that door with the patriots' head coach of the detroit lions and it would appear at least on the surface that he is unreal place of that nobody can fill the shoes of the bearded defensive coordinator the patriots because if you've not heard about this you might not have have heard about it throughout the day maybe missed it we've learned now the the patriots are preparing to go into the 2018 season without the title of defensive coordinator being handed out oh my god no defence of gortat i saw her to talk about it's now yahoo sports charles robinson reporting that linebackers coach brian floor is is not gonna get the title it had been assumed that he was going to get the title but you know what happens when you assume a here's where it gets a little murky because floor is is going to reportedly take over the primary playcalling duties for the patriots defense quarterly yahu report he's the guy calling the place but he's not the different supporting all right so the question here's this how should brian floors feel about being passed over for that title the job of defensive coordinator i ease the ones can be makombe the shutters now my thoughts on this you've got tone the water semantics.

"To continue to play this style they need a mother bleeper of a safety and i was big in the mark baron i would dan yorke was trying to joke in around about me holding court today talking to some of the sales people and they're wondering you know okay what do you think what are you see i said to them that a couple of years ago they tried to move up and get marc perrin in the draft and then they were hoping hoping hoping that mark bear might get the free agency and that would have been someone that the patriots would have spent real legitimate money on to try to bring him in because what they play the way they played defense yesterday meaning the patriots the biggest thing they were missing was not another corner on the field the way they wanted to play it they were missing an impact safety a guy who could come up and play the ron and also be a force in the passing game they don't have that guy and they're trying to play a style where there you know it's like it's they're trying to fit some sort of rounded off veges in the square holes were they can kinda go in there but they don't really fit you know what i mean you could put him in beleagured turnaround somewhat and if brian floor is is now not going to be the defense of coordinator if they do bring in greg jiahoe i wonder if you know why wouldn't patricia want tough lorries instead of a coach peter wall because i think what might happen their rally haskell only some money well i see what might happen is is that floors would give the d c stripes but she auto comes in as a like say but defensive backs or a linebacker is slash assistant head coach to hire him as a tony larussa yeah pretty much and they hire him to impart be the mentor.

"Didn't play too high school and they put me at all line for can hated that to appreciate the air answer um how big a loss would it be if is all these jobs are opening up map patricia goes elsewhere as brian floor is probably the neck will be flow i love the flow he's a great man in our again i think that there's been a lot of coaches there for many years that they understand you know the things that are asked of them in the time that is that they commit to the team and the philosophy of the defense and all the different things that they do and they run and matti has been tremendous and when i came in in two thousand nine he was my position coach so mian him ever great relationship even when he made he can make me so angry but it's all because he knows like hail say one thing to robin who like play better you know and that's just he he understands how to do that and other guys if he said something too not macomb played better so he can understands how to get the best out of each player based on their personality um so i think he's going to be a great head coach one day um and he obviously smart he understands you know good fits in were to be in all that that goes into being i'd coach so he'll definitely have an opportunity say right you played through the transition from peas damn right yeah it will at we had a transition from peas bill was rdc for a year and matt williams switch with today's like they did with mcdaniel's no five of the same carelessly youngster quarterback coach but he's really doc but bill cat so so he would run the me like a matti would run bill would run the meetings but matti was in there you know as.
