"Of the AAPI community, but first Brian kolberger, the suspect in the murder of four university of Idaho students late last year, has now been indicted by a grand jury. He is expected to appear on Monday for his arraignment in Moscow, Idaho, and at that time enter a plea. ABC's Cana Whitworth was on the scene right after the four students were stabbed to death of the girls off campus house on king road back in November. She's also the host of a new ABC audio podcast called the king road killings. She talked about that and the grand jury indictment and the murders themselves with ABC's Brad milky as a part of our daily podcast start here. Can you walk me through this new development Yeah, Brad, this is a major step forward in the case against Brian coburger. And this grand jury indictment is a big deal because essentially the prosecution decided to forgo this preliminary hearing that was scheduled for the end of the summer, right? And they decided to bring their case to a grand jury. He's been formally indicted now. He's facing four counts of murder in the first degree. Along with this felony burglary count because authorities say, you know, he broke into this home with the intent to commit a crime. But really, Brad, this is just the beginning. Can you kind of remind us what they claim to have had on him that led to the arrest. And also I guess what they are alleging, they've learned since the arrest that took this from probable cause to this indictment. We learn most of what the prosecution has against Brian coburger from this probable cause affidavit. And really essentially they found DNA at the crime scene on the button snap of this knife sheath that was left behind. And they made eventually a match to Brian co burger's father, and then they found the DNA at their home in Pennsylvania, and then they again matched that to Brian. So the DNA was really the biggest piece of evidence the prosecution had, but then as you go further into that probable cause affidavit, you also, of course, have the cell phone pings that authorities were able to come up with after they put a warrant on his cell phone. And authorities there allege that his phone was there around that time and these odd, early morning hours, but that the phone had also been there. Days and weeks prior. It tells you that he's building up to do it. He's doing surveillance to decide who's in the house when they're in the house. This is a guy that plans this murder. I think that's probably fantasy driven for months. Also, the morning after, around 9 a.m. before a 9-1-1 call had even been made. In addition to that, they of course pointed to that white Hyundai elantra that Brian

"The vehicle and gives you additional functionality. Now, I just can imagine if I had dropped 50 grand or probably a lot more for a new vehicle, but wasn't actually able to use it to its fullest. I might be a little bit irritated. I'm wondering how customers are responding to this. I think it's a very good point, and it's certainly a controversial area, BMW got into trouble, had a really bad PR time with asking customers to pay extra for heated seats that were technically already in the vehicle, what their effect was saying is pay this extra money and we'll turn it on. I mean, the manufacturer is trying to work out what customers will accept and Mercedes obviously saying, pay more, get more power. That's a good thing. Maybe if you just using the car on the school run, you don't need so much performance, but then maybe you're off on a road trip and you want to pay extra and get some more. I think a lot of this will depend on what are you asking customers to pay for. Are you asking them to pay for something that they think should be inherently in the vehicle, having parted with the huge pile of cash? Or are you asking them to add additional functions? I mean, we're used to our phones. It does basic things, but then if you want that fancy weather app or you want you want all the latest sports results and sometimes you have to subscribe to that. So it's going to be a delicate balancing act, I think. Yeah, and you mentioned that there are other companies and other functions that might go to subscription. I'm curious what else could be next? Well, that's right. I think we're seeing a whole wealth of new features into our vehicles. They think about it a few years ago, a vehicle was very analog. It was all buttons and switches. Today, it's like our phones or our computers. It's kind of a living thing. And it iterates over time. So you buy a new car today and in three years time, it's going to be quite a different thing because manufacturers are constantly sending us over the air updates, adding not just gadgets and features, but sometimes more performance, better range, if it's an electric car. So this is a kind of Brave New World that we're to some extent at least. We're just going to have to get used to. I come from a family where we do our own oil changes and filter changes and all that. I mean, even my husband's done a serpentine belt. What does this mean for folks who work on their own cars? Well, good for you. That's great. I think this is a challenge that we're seeing. And obviously, as more and more people look to buy electric cars, the opportunities for getting your hands dirty, are diminished. I have an old classic car, which is very analog, and I love it for that reason. I think in the future, the world is turning digital and unfortunately, I think we're just going to have to accept that. And it is going to bring a lot of new advantages. Yes, there's going to be controversies about do I want to pay for this, I expected this to be part of the car. But at the same time, maybe also allows you just to pay for the sort of things that you actually want instead of getting these huge bundles of stuff that frankly you'll never use. Well, and now the best anti theft device is a stick shift. So sometimes, yeah, the analog stuff works even better. I still have a stick shift car very proud of it. I think the interesting thing is just that I don't think there's any going back on this. I think our cars are going to get more and more interactive. And one of the big questions will be how you manage that because we're already seeing with all these big screens and lots of flashing gizmos. Cars are getting more and more distracting. So on the one hand, you're adding more and more functionality, but on the other hand, we're also going to have to look at all the distractions and focus on the road ahead. And the latest edition of the Bloomberg surveillance podcast, a conversation with Eric knutson, newburger Berman, multi asset class, chief investment officer. 2023 could continue to be pretty challenging for stocks, but we do think that we are at a bit of a sea change. I've been doing this almost as long as Howard marks and I would agree that the next period of time is going to be quite different from the last ten to 15 years. And one of the key elements there is that rates have to be in our view structurally higher associated with higher structural inflation. And the feds determination and frankly, the capital markets need to have a real positive real yield across the government bond curve. The fed is forecasting that rates at the end of this year are going to be 5 ish percent, growth is going to be half of a percent inflation is going to be 3.2%. That's a real yield of almost 2%. We haven't seen a real yield like that consistently for over 15 years. We think you should pay attention to the fed. And this is a dramatic change from the environment we've seen over the last ten to 15 years. Do we see a pivot Eric in 2023? That's not our expectation. The fed, we believe the fed and other central banks are going to need to maintain tight financial conditions through 2023. You see it with the bank of Japan beginning their normalization process even earlier than people expected and that then encourages the rest of global financial conditions to tighten and now what appears to be an even more rapid and perhaps chaotic and disorderly reopening by China, which could lead to more rapid growth more robust growth from China sooner rather than later. That just adds to
