Rapids Burger is a Republican. He was at the state Capitol building in Atlanta. In a winner take all system. Close margins of voters leads to fights that are spears after Election Day as the campaigns before the passions we feel reflect voters commitment to the ideals and principles. They believe him. We all want our side to win because our side provides the best leadership for our nation and state. I know I'm a passionate conservative, and as I said before, I'm a proud Trump supporter. I was with him early. In the 2016 election cycle and his government nation by the same conservative principles that I hold dear. Like other Republicans, I'm disappointed our candidate didn't win George's electoral votes. Close elections. So distrust people feel their side was cheated way saw this from the Democrats in 2018, and we see this from Republicans today. Working as an engineer throughout my life. I want to do everything I can to build voters trust in our electoral system to that end. I want to work with the governor and legislators on legislation that improves on our current system. Eastern to certify the state sleet of 16 presidential electors. And under state law Because of the tightness of that race less than 0.5%. The Trump campaign does have two business days to request a recount. Some of those legislative changes that Rapids burger is aiming to propose would increase trust in the results. They include allowing state officials to intervene in counties that have systemic problems administering elections requiring photo I d for absentee voting and adding stricter controls to allow for challenges to voters who might not live where they say. They live in Wisconsin, a presidential vote recount getting underway in two counties that lean Democrat

"Abrams ended her challenge to Republican Brian camp and the Georgia governor's race today. But pledged to fight the former secretary of straight gross mismanagement of the elections with a federal lawsuit. Speaking defiantly to a news conference this afternoon Abrahams said her actions did not constitute a concession. But she did acknowledge that she had no further recourse under the law, and that Kemp would be certified the winner. Let's be clear. This is not a speech of concession. Because confession means to acknowledge an action is right true. Or proper woman have conscience and faith. I cannot concede that but my assessment is the law currently allows no further viable remedy. Now, I can certainly bring a new case to keep this one contest alive. But I don't want to hold public office. If I need to scheme my way into the post. And accepting Abrahams decision to end her campaign. Kemp said he appreciated her patient hard work and commitment to public service camp. A fifty five year old businessman had been secretary of state since two thousand ten he was backed by and had embrace President Donald Trump as he tried to maintain Republican dominance in a state that hasn't elected a democrat to the governor's mansion since one thousand nine hundred ninety eight he was heavily criticised for refusing to step down from his post overseeing the elections in which he was a candidate Abrahams campaign accused him of trying to suppress the votes of minorities by purging voter rolls and implementing a state law requiring that the names of voters are their registration forms exactly match those on their government identification. Kemp said he was trying to maintain the integrity of Georgia's voter rolls. That's not of course, how? Democrat abrams. Saw it on November six more than a million folks arrived in precincts around our beloved state anxious and excited to express your patriotism through the fundamental act of voting for these millions of Georgians the acme of proven tedious and hard, but they had no doubts. Their votes would be counted. Certainly there would be long lines and delays. Absolutely a tired. Volunteer would miss type name and nature would not be ignored through rain or tornado warnings or chilly weather. We all understand the challenges and the complications. However this year more than two hundred years and to Georgia's democratic experiment the state failed. It's voters despite a record high population in Georgia more than a million citizens hound their name stripped from the rolls by the secretary of state, including a ninety two year old civil rights activists who cast her ballot in the same neighborhood since nineteen sixty eight. Abrahams campaign sparked huge energy across Georgia, and she became a national democratic star election turnout among both sides energized basis, nearly equal to that of the two thousand sixteen presidential vote officials from Abrahams campaign had told the Associated Press yesterday that the candidate was considering the unprecedented move of advocating a state law that would let her challenge the results based on misconduct fraud or irregularities sufficient to change or place in doubt the results, but ultimately Abrahams declined to do. So Kemp stormed to the Republican nomination with ads featuring everything from the candidate cranking, a chainsaw and jokingly pointing a gun toward a team male suitor of his daughter to camps offer to round up criminal illegals himself in his pickup. Truck. He's promised tax cut and teacher pay raises pledged to continue Georgia's refusal to expand Medicaid insurance under President Barack Obama's two thousand ten health care overhaul. Kemp's victory is an important marker for Republicans ahead of the two thousand twenty presidential election Kemp's narrow margin already suggests that Georgia state Trump won by five percentage points in two thousand sixteen could be a genuine battleground in two thousand twenty Trump bet big on Kemp endorsing him ahead of camps Republican primary runoff can't painting for him in the weekend prior to the November six election. Now, Trump will be able to return with an incumbent governor as he seeks a second term. In the meantime, Abram said she would fight to restore integrity to Georgia's election system with a new initiative today. I announced the launch a. Fair fight Georgia an operation that will pursue accountability. In Georgia's elections and integrity in the process of maintaining our voting rolls in the coming days. We will be filing a major federal lawsuit against the state of Georgia for the gross mismanagement of this election and to protect future elections from unconstitutional actions. We will handle the work of the past several weeks and a strong legal demand for reform of our election systems in Georgia, and I will not waver in my commitment. A lived commitment to work cross party lines and across divisions to find a common purpose in protecting our democracy. Unofficial returns showed camp ahead by roughly sixty thousand votes out of nearly four million cast on November sixth camp declared himself governor elect the next day and stepped down as Georgia's secretary of state, although thousands of absentee and provisional ballots remained uncounted, but probably not enough to push camp below the fifty percent, plus one margin that he needed to avoid a lawfully mandated runoff the death toll in the massive northern California camp wildfire is now up to sixty three officials say the number of missing is now above six hundred many of those may be evacuees who don't know they've been listed as missing Butte county sheriff Corey Honi says he's making the list public. So people can let officials know they're safe the recurring wildfires. Sparking concern among medical experts about potentially health major health consequences worsening, asthma lung disease and even heart attacks in heart disease. Patients have all been linked with previous fires but blazes that used to be seasonal are happening nearly year round and increasingly spreading into cities. That's exposing many more people to choking smoke. That contains many of the same toxic ingredients as urban air, pollution, heart problems and cancer have been linked with exposure to smoke. The San Francisco International airport says nearly two hundred flights have been delayed because of low visibility and smoke airport. Spokesman Doug giggles said that as of noon today about fifteen percent have had the lays averaging forty five minutes yesterday about five hundred were delayed representing about forty percent of the airports whites. The airport averages about twelve hundred fifty flights a day. Yet. Cool said smoke was the main factor in low visibility conditions with visibility at about one and a half miles today compared to ten miles on a normal day. The airport is urging travelers to check with their airlines or the airports website for their flights status. Schools across the San Francisco Bay area today were closed as winds carried smoke from the wildfires in northern California. That blanketed towns and cities hundreds of miles away the unhealthy air has resulted in a run on air filtration masks, that area's stores with many outlets selling out KPFA upfront show producer Justin gold spoke to those wind up at a Berkley ace hardware store. "One example is the security of the voter registration database, as we know Russian government tried to hack into a number of election systems was back in two thousand sixteen they're all kinds of measures. Now too. Provide better security for these systems camp. I was the only state election officials to refuse help from the department of homeland security to try to deal with his problems and the state essentially outsourced its management of this voter registration database to university. They were melting vulnerabilities found in how the database was done to the point where people could potentially go in and delete or change the registration information, he's not taken enough steps to fix it so much so that he's been sued in federal court said, well, it's too late to fix things for twenty eight teen, but they better be fixed for twenty twenty. And then what I think is probably the worst example of partisanship. I can think of and I'm including in the modern era, and I and I'm including Florida two thousand on the weekend just before the the election this time around someone wrote to the democratic party's election protection team and said there's still vulnerable. And how the voter registration database is setup. And it's a real problem and Democratic Party, officials forwarded that Email to election officials to tell them about this phone or ability and immediately Brian camp who is still the secretary of state at that time, he had not yet resigned. He had posted on the web page of the secretary of state's office, the official web page, the one you go to find out what the polling hours are what you're pulling places all the election formation a press release of that accused the Democratic Party of engaging in cyber hacking, and there it sat through election day. And and it stayed up there, even when it was confirmed that all the Democratic Party was doing was passing on a vulnerability that someone else had come up with and that they were trying to do the right thing. And so this in a in connection with a number of decisions that kept made about provisional ballots about about counting of ballots about signature. Miss massive matches has led Democrats to believe that the election was not fairly conducted. And and now there's talk about them calling for a revote. I don't think that's going to happen. I think the Democrats are going to see this election as it would. I think that some of the language that they're that. They're using is over the top about the election being stolen. But I do think that it was administered in a in an unfair way to give an advantage to camp. So what is point in our history? What do you think are the most common? Mis perceptions that we as voters have about the entire voting process. Well, I think people think that it's a lot simpler than it is. I think that's the number one was perception, you know, why can't we get this? Right. You know, why why can't we do this? And it is a an extremely complex of deaf. Or when you think about a national election being conducted in something like ten thousand different electoral jurisdictions. We don't have an. Set of rules. We don't have uniform equipment, we have places with election ministers about different levels of training, different levels of resources. You have partisans involved in the process and everything is under a microscope. You know, our election system in most places works reasonably well. But when you're talking about an extremely close election like we're seeing in Florida, and you're talking about places where there have been problems. He look under the hood. You see it's a complex process as with anything else. The amount of effort. That's put in doesn't always lead to perfection. And so if you want perfection, you're going to have to put in a lot more resources, and you're gonna have to change some of the rules to make sure that things are being done in a fair way. Now explaining why it is that votes counted after an election night, often skew are Democrats. Why is that well are a few reasons I if you look at the kind of the democrat. Graphics of people who are voting Republican versus voting Democrats. You'll see that Republican voters on average tend to be a wider older and living in the same place for a longer period of time..

That's the only way you can do it. It doesn't mean we're gonna agree on every issue. But you know, what? If we disagreed tomorrow, maybe two weeks later, we'll find some common ground for Gillam to Santa's views track too closely with those of the president. I have not called the president of racist. But they are racist and his sympathizers who believe that. He may be which is why they go to his aid. Which is why he has provided them cover, and I believe that his cover has led to much of the degradation and our political discourse Trump has expanded more political capital onto Santa's than on most other candidates this year. "Against Republican Brian camp, currently oversees Georgia's election system Abrahams has accused him of dropping more than a million voters from the roles since two thousand twelve and closing polling places in African American communities. He is someone who's been tilting the playing field in his direction and in the direction of his party. The biggest controversy surrounds the state's new exact match law that put the registrations of fifty three thousand voters most of them African Americans on hold because of discrepancies in the way. Their names are spelled in state databases, Marsha appling Nunez. Got tripped up by a missing letter. It was unnecessary that I had to go through so many hoops to be here right now, finally as a registered voter on Fox News can call a smokescreen those folks that are on the pending lists all they have to do is go to the polls show their photo ID, and they can vote. Note he says he's just enforcing the law. And that if you wanna vote your name should be recorded accurately, the challenge is that he knew from experience that this law has a disproportionate effect on certain communities because he was sued for exactly this reason in two thousand sixteen appaling Nunez told us she has now been reregistered despite that missing a but only after going online more than forty times Kemp's campaign declined our request for an interview. What are the guys that the Republican guy running for governor here Brian camp taking people off the registry? Adequate question for you. What would happen if the Democrats just didn't show up to the rest of the Brad Kavanagh hearing? There. There would be no hard questions asked. There would be no statements made that might cause Susan Collins or Lisa Murkowski or others. You know, if there are any Republicans with integrity left in the Senate, and the I guess the two that that are trying to position themselves in that category are Jeff flake and Bob corker, and if flaking corker actually had a integrity they would start caucusing with the Democrats today.
