'Your Brother Needs You': The Bond That Lifted a Rising NFL Star

"So joe you recently wrote a story about carolina. Panthers defensive end brian burns and his older brother stanley mclovin and how they ended up helping each other in an unlikely way. And we actually want to start the story with stanley. So let's rewind to two thousand six. What kind of player was stanley when he was coming out of college and how did his. Nfl career go early on. He was a pretty good player. He is a good size guide. Defensive lineman from auburn comes to the right side. that's goodell pressure. That's fair is last season. at auburn. He had eight sex and he enters the nfl draft and ho six when the last round to the panthers and he was joining a team. That had a very stout defensive line group led by peppers and it just wasn't much playing time opportunity for a seventh round pick white mclovin and so pretty under the radar type player with the exception of off the field where he lived and spent money as though he were a first round pick. He told me that he bought range rover and he had a hummer at one point. He bought a brand new house. I did a lot of things i wasn't. I wasn't educated about if i had educational a lot during that time. I'm like we're not talking about it. I got a million dollar bonus or anything like that. I mean it was seventh-round money by stanley. Kinda got caught up in lifestyle. He's the first to admit that and he was living the life and it was just one of those day where you see the money. You're counting zyban i buy. I'm playing football. I'm doing on on going through the rest of my life

"It's time now to bring in the beat reporter of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Our good friend Brian Burns. Burns are good to be with you again must win game for the Islanders. They should be ready to go. But I think the lightning will be ready to go as well. They understand the importance of this game, don't they? Absolutely, and you know, they have to be feeling pretty good about themselves. They've scored the last 10 bowls in a row in this series and coming off that phenomenal 80 performance in Game five, where they really just had their way with the Islanders. You know, none of that's really going to carry over into Game six. But the one thing that should carry over as the lightning feeling pretty good about themselves and about their game and I feel like If they can just continue to play with that effort in that emotion here in Game six, then they should be well on their way to wrapping this one up. RNC. How will the Islanders approach the game tonight? They want to feed off the crowd for sure. But There's also that risk that they get out of position. Get a little too amped up and the lightning go the other way. Yeah, absolutely. And I think they're going to push here early in this game. I think the 1st 10 15 minutes are going to be telling whether or not the lightning or on their heels and the Islanders are in the offensive zone for the majority of that time, I think That's going to tell us a lot about how this game is going to go down. I expect the Islanders to come back with a strong push. Certainly there a veteran group, a team that has a lot of pride, and frankly, they got embarrassed in Game five. So you know they want to rectify that wrong here. I think the first goal again is going to be huge. I know it's been that way throughout this entire series throughout this entire playoffs, But maybe even more so tonight because I feel like if the Lightning Get that first goal. I think the doubt starts to creep into the Islanders head That's now 11 goals in a row to the lightening of scored in this series and really feel like the Lightning can settle into a good defensive game. If they can get that first one. I was gonna ask you that. Statistics tell us whoever scores first is going to win. Is that still true tonight? If yeah, I think so. See, I'm clairvoyant. I can, uh, question you're gonna ask next. Yeah, I think more so in this game than any other just because the Lightning played so well in Game five, and you have to feel like if the Islanders start to fall behind again. If they give up one early that doubt has to creep into their head again about whether or not they're going to be able to complete this past. So for the lightning, you know, I think more so Lightning can probably come back from giving up that first goal, even though they haven't done it so far this post season their own four when they give up the first goal, But I feel like the Lightning have a bit more resolved. If there if they give up that first one there, they'll be able to come back from it. I'm not so sure if the Islanders would be able to make that up if they give one up early, and the Lightning are allowed to play with the lead for an extended period of time. Who does Tampa Bay have to worry about tonight from the Islanders. And Conversely, who do the Islanders have to be worried about tonight? Yeah, For me. I mean, obviously, bars. L has been really good and he's been there. One big playmaker. He's been a problem for the lightning in this series, and he's created a lot, but Brock Nelson, he's just a big game player, and it always seems like he steps up in these moments. Uh, he's been dangerous in this series. He scored a couple goals. I feel like he's a guy The Lightning really have to look out for in the fourth line. The light. The the Islanders generate a lot of, uh, their energy. Their momentum from that four flying. Matt Martin, in particular has been rock solid for them, and that's the line that could get the lightning a lot of trouble if they allow them to go out and have their way in the offensive zone and really use their physicality to wear down the light names. As far as the Islanders. You know, it's great and point and Nikita Kucherov and breaking point gets going again if he's allowed to get that speed going, If Nikita Kucherov has time and space and is able to maneuver in the offensive zone and find those scenes to get the puck the point to get it to Andre Palat. That's going to be a problem for the Islanders, so I think they really have to try to shut down couture off, probably more than anybody. If they want to have any chance in this game, Burns E. Is there another duo in the NHL? Who's better than Kouchner off and points? At least in the playoffs? Those guys have been dominant, haven't that I can't think of any. I mean, you know in the regular season McDavid's and dry style comes to mind. But in the playoffs over the last two, no one has put up the kind of numbers that those two guys have been able to put up. I was talking with Paul Kennedy about this the other day. The Valley sports broadcaster, pregame hosts and And I wonder, you know, 10 years from now, Are we going to be talking about Brandon point in the future off if they're able to sustain this over a number of years, are we going to be talking about them in the same breath in the same category that people talk about? You know, like Sidney Crosby end up getting Malcolm from the Penguins. Are they going to be in that upper echelon of duos in this league? There's certainly the numbers they're putting up are there right now They have to do it for a sustained amount of time. But No. Fortunately for the lightning there. Hopefully they're going to be under contract for fight A few more years in the light area to go on Somewhere long playoff runs will be able to continue to pile up Those numbers. Birds a great job as always. We'll talk to you throughout the broadcast. Thanks, sir. Alright. Thanks, Greg. That's Brian Burns. He's.

"Center Brian Burns here, joined by my co host, Caylee, Chelios and Bobby, the chief Taylor and gang. We've got a pretty pivotal game tonight. We're in the national policy and we've talked about how loud it is here before its one of the loudest venues of the league. It's The smallest venue in the league, but it's also one of the most intimate. Just what do you expect from tonight? What kind of game do you expect to see, Chief? I'll toss it to you first. What do you expect from Game three here? Well, I think the honors are just going to really come out full force. You know, I think they're going to kind of they're going to be a dump and chase team and they're going to come in. As are all called to say, I want you to arrive at the corner of the along the boards and ill humor and I think that's exactly what they're going to be doing tonight. They're going to try and be a real physical presence. In that first period. They'll try to keep that play inside. The Lightning zone. It's gonna be lining will have to move that quickly. And in the first period, I think And, uh, you know, turn the tables on them. They came out very quickly in the in the second game before 17 shots of lightning, and I'd like to see uh, you know as much as that is possible, but I know you've got to be ready for that first onslaught because they're going to come hard and You know, that's the one thing If you keep the play inside their zone, make sure they don't get that momentum or get that rhythm going for Kayleigh. The Lightning have been a really good road team so far this post season, they won the two opening games to start the first round series. They won the two opening games to start the second round series in Rally and then obviously won that series in Game five in Carolina only gave up two goals in that entire three games. Those three road games in Carolina in that second round series and like chief said, You're expecting the home team to come out with a lot of Lot of vigor a lot of purpose. The Lightning are going to have to match that desperation. But what have the lightning been able to do in these road games? It's allowed into play so well when they go to these hostile road environments. I think John Cooper and Yanni gored both kind of touched on it. When we asked them there, the media asked them about playing on the road and how well they've done and I don't think they really thought about it too much. I think it takes a mature team like.

"Brian Burns beat writer for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and I'm joined by my co host, Lightning radio analyst Kaylie Chelios. Welcome Kaley kind of a ho hum night here and Amalie Arena, huh? Absolutely. I'm jealous. I'm not there tonight. I think it's gonna be a lot of fun. And you know, the players have talked about how exciting it was just when they had A few 100 fans in the building. So you know, like John Cooper said. I'm sure the 3800 max that they're able to have tonight is gonna sound like the 19,000 Plus they typically have during a regular season. It's a lot of fun and a lot to look forward to. Yeah, that's kind of set up everything that's going on kind of a big day news wise, just with the arena and some some happenings and morning skate and whatnot. So let's kind of set everything up for the first time since March, 5th 2020 over a full year ago will have a significant number of fans and Amalie Arena tow watch the Lightning play hockey. Maximum of 3800. Spectators will be allowed inside the arena for tonight's contest against the Nashville Predators, which is the sort of a two game set against the Predators at this point in the season. Where maybe you know complacency could set in a little bit, especially for a lightning team that's coming off of Ah, long extended road trip. You have to think that this is going to be a shot in the arm for the lightning the they're gonna wanna play well in front of their home fans, even if it is Just about a quarter of the arena that's full. Yeah, well, no signs of complacency, according Julian Breeze Block on his, You know, midyear presser that he typically does when you know we've seen that so far, I think like you said, it's taken be easy to come home from a six game road trip, especially with where they are in the standings and how well they played in maybe taking Exhale and And sit back that first game at home, But I think having the added fans and the exciting energy from having cultural back on the ice this morning, there's a lot of buzz around the arena. I'm sure the guys they're a lot happier to be back home now and spending time with their family because it can be isolating on the road is you know you've you've talked about it and ask John Cooper a lot about it already this season just how hard it is. Going on these extended road trips, given the circumstances with covert, So I think tonight is gonna be a fun night family for the fans of the banner raising, but I also think for the lightning, you know, it's an opportunity to Not just share the banner raising with them, but to give their fans of wind and for Nashville. I think that's going to be a tough building to come into, and we'll see how prepared they are for it. Yeah, this is it the first time the lightning have played in front of fans this season. Most of it has been on the road. I was actually February 8th and ninth the back to back set in Nashville, where the Lightning first played in front of fans this season, it was only Handful of Spectators, baby 500 people at the most. But I remember talking to Janni Gord after the that two game set both lightning victories and he said, You could feel the energy inside the arena even from just 500 or so people that Was nice to look up into the stands and see actual people sitting there. People cheering people clapping. They fed off of that energy. Even if it wasn't energy directed towards them. It was, you know, in Nashville. So was the Predators fans. But even having opposing fans in the building kind of gave the team a little bit of a lift, and as the seasons going on, they played in front of more and more people we saw about 4000 fans for a couple of games down in sunrise against the Florida Panthers. There's a little over 4000 fans with the Lightning last went to Dallas to play the stars. So the amount of fans isn't going to be any different for the lightning tonight, but the fact that they're actually here in Emily Arena and they're cheering for the lightning, and it's not fans cheering against the light, and I think that's going to be Ah, big deal for this team. I think out of all the teams to not have fans, you know for the Lightning, and I know most teams across the NHL players have talked about that. They're used to not having the fans but to win the Stanley Cup championship without fans. No other team Except this lightning one knows what that feels like. And I think they've got to miss the fans more than anybody and just have that kind of excitement to be able to celebrate with them. You know, they reached the highest success that they can. They brought home a championship. Tampa Bay. You know, fans were also excited about the Super Bowl. Of course, too, so I think for them It's It's a pretty big deal to be able to celebrate with the fans. Even if it's not everybody and it's not a packed stadium. It's probably going to feel like that for them, and you could kind of just see this marks on their faces. Even Brayden point You could kind of feel you know the positive energy coming from him. Just giving the half fans back in the building and getting to be back home for the first time in a couple weeks now is is exceptionally, You know, it's gonna be a good night breaking point, talked about that today at morning skate after the team had their practice session. He was one of the players available. Four media interviews and just talked about having that energy having the crowd in the stands, How much fun that's going to be for them another big deal tonight. We've got a better raising. That's happening because we finally have fans inside of the building. At least a portion of the arena will be full with fans. I'm going to raise the banner to the rafters and have it hang permanently right next to the banner from the 2000 and four Stanley Cup championship season. The The 2020 stately cup banner has been hanging over the Viper Lounge. They kind of raised it halfway up on opening night. And it kind of hung there for you know, the next two months, right over the Viper Lounge kind of in a corner. Section of the arena, But now it's kind of moved over to the opposite corner, and it's going to go up right next to the 20 the 2004 banner. S so that's going to be a big another big, you know, happening tonight? In addition to the fans, they're going to do another, You know, pre game ceremony where you were. You're raising a banner kind of a continuation of the hood that they had. Two months ago on opening night..

You Are What You Subscribe To

"All right. So i wanted to share with you something that my wife. Carrie ann i did the first At the beginning of the new year. And that's We sat down and we reviewed everything that both of us were subscribed to and we sorta did a purge and a respectful and together. We said you know what kind of content do we love. What do we want to learn This year what should we stop consuming. What should we start consuming and we did this very thoughtful very proactively over the course of about an hour and the high here for me is. I think it's important to be very very careful. Whose ideas that you let into your brain you know. We only have so much brain shelf space and we only have so much. Time to consume books podcasts Whatever the case you tubes whatever we like to consume and so being very thoughtful about what we put into our brain is actually a very important thing and i think there we put some shit in our head. That can hurt us pretty badly. You know if you're a longtime listener you know Have no love for the hustle stars. And i think they've done more damage to entrepreneurs and marketers than any recent group in history For a simple example you. I've heard hustle porn star. Say hustles the most important word the english language. Well i've also heard hustle porn star. Say no one ever worked himself to death well in japan they have a word for it. It's called karoshi and it translates into death by overwork. So nonstop hustling for twenty. Five years is probably not what you want to do. In addition even worse maybe is. You can hustle all you want but there's a difference between hard work and smart work hamsters hustle in their wheels to and they don't get anywhere. So what's your hustling about matters. And if you're a regular listener you know that i believe that Legends become known for a niche. That they own. So if you're hustling to design your own category that's one thing. If you're hustling trying to compete with an entrenched category king. You're gonna be in for a world of pain and yet millions and millions of business people still consume the stupidities of these hustle porn stars every day and the marketing and entrepreneur. World is stuffed with stupid ideas. Here's another example that drives me nuts minimum viable product. Why is this a good idea. Who the fuck said we. The first thing we deliver to the world should be something called a minimum viable product. It should be called a product. You fucking think is legendary and awesome and you wanna share with the whole world nother just dumb dumb dumb. I could go on with a very long list of very dumb ideas that are marketed to marketers and entrepreneurs all the time the bottom line is be very thoughtful about what you put in your brain because what you put in your brain is what you get out of your life now. Personally i like to go back to some of. Oj's peter drucker can touch him he. He's the original management thinker. His book the effect of executive changed my life by way of example. David ogilvy david. Ogilvy david ogilvy. If you're an entrepreneur if you're a marketer you're not a student of david ogilvy get on it. I go back and look at it all the time. Another one you might love in a similar vein is george lois. He sort of the punk rock version of david. Ogilvy check him out also. Of course the geez of positioning. Our reese and jack trout the so i love to go back and look at a lot of the original masters now some of the newer things that i love checking out is Check out a master class. This is incredible way to learn how to do to be taught writing by malcolm gladwin by way of example or taught how to do a three point shot by None other than steph curry. They have legendary people in many many different domains teaching their skills. It's an incredible product. Love masterclass podcast. You might wanna check out and this is not an extensive example or an extensive list. It's just an example of a few. That i like One of the jeez of marketing podcasts. Marketing over coffee by my buddy john wall and his partner. Christopher penn legendary Venture capitalists mike. Maples junior. his podcast is called. Starting greatness insanely great. Another legendary entrepreneur. Podcast is called no bowl and it's created by my buddies paul martinez and randy comas. And it features that teaching of the legendary bill campbell. Who was none other than steve. Jobs is coach if you're in the b. two b. world couple of podcasts. I love dave gerhardt's b. to b. marketing leaders. Podcast check it out. G. is emerging og. He's awesome My buddy brian burns has the One of the top sales podcast for b. two b. people be to be revenue leadership and the brutal truth about sales and selling brian burns. Check him out. And then the other one i like on sort of the lead gen funnel management Get leads enclosed shit online in the more beat. A sea world is russell brunson and he's got a whole series of podcasts and books most of them have the word secrets in them. Checkout marketing secrets podcasts. And he's all about hooks and offers and driving traffic and all of that stuff so those are just a couple to think about but most importantly i'm encouraging you to sit down and ask yourself a couple of key questions. What the kind of content i love. What do i most want to learn in the next twelve months. What should i stop consuming. What should i start consuming and remember. Be very careful whose ideas you let into your head because your thoughts become your actions your actions become your outcomes and your outcomes become your

Will Houston Texans trade QB Deshaun Watson?

"I tell you. I don't know if houston will actually trae does shawn watson because there. They would be idiots if they did. But it is houston but it is houston a. b. if shawn watson is the one asking for the trade than you at least have to give it consideration because you do not want an unhappy quarterback because then that turns into an unhappy team. Yeah and if if you're a new general manager there's no better way to make a statement then to immediately come in and get a franchise quarterback that still in his prime. Yeah just ask the question. What would you trade for. Deshaun watson and i will make this easy for the both of you. I will go ahead and give you my answer. Whatever in the hell houston basically literally. I would trade them whatever they want you can name player a draft pick or a combination of the two and i would agree. I think from a team building perspective. That's the way to go. I just like from a panthers fan perspective. I wanna keep the players that we have that. I like no green other sites that coin. Yeah the fan in me. I don't wanna trae brian burns. I don't wanna trade. Jeremy chinn don't wanna trade dj more. I don't wanna trade christian mccaffrey house and say yeah. I mean i don't order those guys. But if houston asked for any combination of them. I would do it. You don't get the opportunity. To get bonafide franchise quarterbacks five years old still in the prime under a reasonable contract. In the first year he would only count like ten and a half million dollars against our salary cap this year now next year that have to do an extensive because his cap number jumps to like thirty five million. They would have to figure out a way around that but they could do it.

"More specifically lied. I know when we came back to the game the other night, you, Teo. I bet you spent the 1st 45 minutes. Having an open for discussion with everybody, not just the players, but all her bottle. And it was just about the issues at hand. What's going on in the world moving forward getting messages out as as the players from all the teams are bubble got together? And watch them come together and actually put hockey aside. Sitting here in there. Battling the loss of bones for two straight nights. And then the next morning. They were standing united Trying to digest what's going on and move forward. So I thought I was really impressive. And then after all, that they were all communicating with each other, and so anybody was questioning what's going on with the National Hockey League? I think cash. Other side should applaud them. Here's Brian Burns and Kaylie Chelios on Lightning radio. Welcome to the Lightning pregame state today all news radio W F L A and lightning power play on the I Heart radio APP. I'm Brian Burns beat writer for the Tampa Bay Lightning and joining Mia's Lightning radio analyst. Kaylee Chelios is the lightning. You're looking to go up in the series with Boston three games to one after taking game 37 the one on Wednesday night, and then we saw Haake postpone games for the last two days in solidarity with the N ba Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer to begin a discussion all diversity, inclusion and social justice not only in hockey, but how the hockey community can be an influence of positive change in society. Yesterday. During his media availability, John Cooper was asked if hockey has come far enough or of hockey is behind some of these other sports with these initiatives. That have been taking place in the world of late and I thought the Lightning head coach had some really good comments. I don't know, like we just sit here and say, Is it just hockey like I have no idea. That's the first I've heard about whatever Something's happening in the bubble, and I can't comment on on past. You know other other members of our coaching fraternity? All I know is is we just we need to get better is a society like And do I think There are a lot of good people out there. I do. To be honest, I think 99.9% of people are really, really good. It seems that when You know what's that line like You could build a whole life doing good and it takes a whole lifetime to build a great reputation, but it contains you can ruin it in one instance. And That's what seems to happen at times. So when, when You know there are unfortunate incidents. It's heartbreaking at times, but I don't think like I I'm the optimist on side of the people are good. Um and I think to answer your question is the league behind? No, the league's learning just like everyone else. And the leagues in a better place today that wass A couple months ago, and definitely that it was a couple years ago. A lot of these things that come up come up because it was years ago and and this is like when people are talking and people are putting these issues to the forefront. Now. You know, we're not talking about Game four of Stanley Cup playoff game, the second round every question I'm getting it is on. How can we be better? And this is how we're using our form right now. I'm telling you that the players behind me are all trying to use this form. To be better. We're standing united on this front. But there are going to be incidents in the past and it's it's sad. It's shameful that things like that happened, But let's learn from it and, uh and be better. Cooper. The beginning to that quote, was talking about allegations that former Florida Panthers G M. Dale talented, made several insensitive comments while inside the bubble in Toronto, and we'll wait to see how that plays out. The league is certainly in a better place than it was two months or two years ago, like John Cooper just said, But more progress is certainly needed. And Kaylie will bring you in. Welcome to the show. Thanks for coming on and doing this with me. Just wondering over the last couple days that the comments that we've heard whether it's from Kevin Shattenkirk, Luke Shin Braydon Coburn. They were both held media availability yesterday and I thought gave some really poignant comments. On thoughts of everything that they've been experiencing in the bubble the last couple day, couple of days. John Cooper, obviously and what he's been going through and some of his experiences. I'm just wondering from your perspective. What were some of the things that really stood out to you or what really struck you? From the last couple of days that that we've seen here inside the bubble in Toronto. Yeah, I think what would stood out to me initially and listening to Braydon Coburn and Luke Schenn speak yesterday to the media was. I think the word hsien used was unique in terms of What's happening in society but also from their perspective, being in the bubble and also being with all these teams, and I thought what Luke had talked about, you know, they played a game against Boston on Wednesday night, and it it wasn't all high fives and excitement after they won in the locker room, like usual, I think they all kind of We're trying to digest what was happening and he said, You know, you play the game, then 10. Hours later, he said. He felt like we didn't play the game because you're sitting there with 45 Bruins players and you're not talking. You know, we're even thinking about hockey or having these conversations and trying to educate yourselves. On the next day, so I think it's definitely a very unique situation and braiding, Coburn said. You never in his career. Do you think he'd be having these conversations with four other teamed in a bubble? And they've been very productive and you know for him, he said. It was enlightening, and there's a lot of guys that they're proud of both on their team and around the league. Players who they didn't expect to speak up speaking up on it's really just been a great opportunity, I think on all For everyone to listen and learn. You know, I think listening is a hard skill and when you're in a bubble, and you're you're asked to do a job the way they have been. It's It's difficult sometimes to understand or get a grasp on what's happening around you in the community and I thought the players did a great job as well as John Cooper just kind of discussing what the last 48 hours have been like for them trying to work as a league and as a team Tio address what's going on and also do the job on the ice? That's that's been asked of them what they're going to have to do later on today, Burns E. Yashin's comments about You're the first people he saw the next morning after Game three or 45 Bruins. I don't know if that was just a common area or if they were getting.

"He's actually done a meth cleanup before. Now we called excel cleaning services. Now, they're great at cleaning, and all of that they say they don't clean and Brian burns who has had some insurance claims by landlords who rented out their homes, and then their homes or apartments that have been contaminated, and Brian cleaning doesn't cut it. No, it's, it's more involved than that. It's a big insurance claim it big insurance. So if I'm a landlord renting out my home will it be covered? Yeah. In the cases that I've had the companies that I've dealt with. We did get coverage for it. It was considered to be vandalism or smoke damage in the two cases that I can think of. And so the coverage was there to cover it. But, you know, I not saying that would be the case with every policy. I have a sneaky question if I'm the owner, and I'm busted for math, and my house is contaminated, Ken, my wife put in a claim. No, because it's a named insured. They caused the damage by the way, our other guests here today. Peter, just when you do talk you don't have to lean into it just pull it and make it comfortable wherever you want that it'll go. And then you can turn it on and off as we talk. Have you ever had a claim for that Peter is a public adjuster who fights for consumers? Yeah. You can do that. And then just move that Mike anywhere you need it. Have you ever had a claim for math? You'd have did insurance companies balk at it or try to get out of it while they try a way to blame it on the shoe it in a sense that he allowed this to go on, so you sort of have to work around the edges and, and have you gotten them covered? Yes. Now public adjusters for those listening, they're adjusters. Now, there are insurance adjusters, and they're referred to in the industry as I as and then there are a public adjusters and public adjusters represent consumers. So they come in, and they say from the insurance company claims worth eight grand. Now Peter will come in. And we also have another public just on the referrallist Peter's with claims pro adjusters claims pro public adjusters, and he'll come in and fight with him. In fact, he's the only one that can fight with them. You're not allowed to fight with VERA contractor, if you're a contractor, you can't go in and say, I disagree this needs to be done. You can give. An estimate but you can't fight with them. That's where a public adjuster comes in, they most always get so much money that their fee is not even noticed. I'm serious. We've had great results with public adjusters. What's the biggest discrepancy in your public claims that you remember from your career like what the insurance offered and, and get this close when you talk, by the way? From what they offered to what you ended up getting. What's the biggest discrepancy you can recall in your career? I had just recently closed. One was that about six hundred thousand two point seven billion. Wait a minute. They offered six hundred grand. You'd think the guy would be happy was a commercial, obviously. Yeah, it was your condo association and you got two point seven. Holy crap. It's quite common. I had another one where they lowers your jewelry. And your gold chains. My wife has it made you made some money on that year. Retired New York City cop. Yes. Really? What, what area did you work in the shop Bronx in whole? Oh my God. You couldn't have picked. I mean you I mean you were a real beat cop. In the Bronx is start of walking in the Bronx. Wow. It was forty second precinct. And so, okay, that's pretty cool. How do you go from there to be in a public adjuster? I guess you're, you're used to fighting with liars and thieves. Right. So so you fight with insurance. Yes. Well, what happened in two thousand five I had already retired and I was on the board of directors. You'll condo association and hurricane Wilma hit and destroyed the place in Florida. I mean, in Florida. Yes. We had over eighteen million dollars in damages and I saw what they were doing because I was on, devoted directly, you saw the insurance company, putting the screws to you. Yeah. Yeah. They just delayed, every time they could they say they do something to not do it, and it just got to me. And then in two thousand nine I had the opportunity to go up to where they had hurricane Ike and gove Ston. Yeah. Opportunity to go up there and start working these type claims for the insurance industry, or for people. No, I don't I can't work for shirts company. It's conflict of interest. No, I know that, but you didn't start doing that. No. I is you never know you just always had a heart for the consumer side. Exactly. I mean, people find this hard to believe, and Brian here, by the way, he's not an underwriter. Brian is a broker and they represent like twenty five lines and he does fight for people, and I will, and nobody's going to deny this insurance companies people you have to understand they will lie to you. I mean, that's a hard concept to get across because people they'll tell you. Oh, no, no, no. We don't lie. They do lie to people that shot that claim went from six hundred thousand two point seven million record them in a few lies, and they wound up backing off and paying what was due, and why do they do this? I don't know why why why. But you would think every consumer. In the world would call public gesture anyway, let's get back to the phones, Mark with Genesis total. Exteriors dot com. Mark what's involved in cleaning up, a meth house since you've done it before, right? Poorest out of their carpet and things like that. You want out of there. You can't just clean it. I, I mean I wouldn't. Yeah. Plus, if it's a meth house, most likely not the cleanest of people since gonna be filthy in the ones you've done. How did you clean? So you get rid of all those things you got to get all the. Ventilation system completely cleaned out, and then we went through, and we sprayed down everything with slack, which is that seals it that seals it all in. So when you say spray, it down, what would you spray down with, because obviously, the drywall seeing it's, you know, it's just a coating that you put on the walls and trim and things like that now, do somebody come in and approve it. We did an air test. We had independence. But is there is there a designation once it's declared a meth house? Is there a designation that says, okay, now it's not a meth house? Yeah. I mean there there wasn't as far as I know this was well over ten years. Okay. All right. But things have changed for now. I could get a hold of my guy that does all my testing for letting the best air quality control testing. You know what if he has a number we can call him directly now? Genesis total exterior, of course, does, you know, the siding windows. Gutters painting decks, fences kitchens, baths, basements. And but he he's just on the air because he did do a math cleanup one time. And he can do home improvements after disaster or after a meth thing, but I wonder if there's an official designation. Nathan talk to market, his guys number the environmental test or see if he knows what we're trying to find out is what do we do for Ben he wants to buy this place. It's been designated a meth house. Is there a such thing? As undesignated it, you know, where it doesn't keep showing up. Genesis total, exterior dot com, by the way, throw three six seven nine eight five zero nine. We have more coming up. At bluecross blueshield, our companies take what we learned from covering one in three Americans.

"State. Brian burns is a he's a smaller guy. You know? He's got that six foot by six five to forty four five two at the time by great athlete. He he's kinda that edge rusher than all these NFL looking for that. Josh Allen is new right? I didn't I didn't comment on this. But the Jaguars adding apparently Josh Allen to their team. I mean that that that is legitimately scary. Their their defense is already fantastic. That's pretty much complete. You've got miles Jack. Jalen Ramsey that very good defensive defensive line. Brian burns is a he's a solo tick. But that's that's kind of where these teams are going is looking for those really really speed rush guys just quarterback quickly and sex. I liked I liked that call now again, I just jumping ahead a little bit. Because I want to let you get back to the party and make sure you have a cold beverage and something good to eat for me since I'm starving right now. Okay. But the Oakland Raiders have the twenty four th pick coming up the from the Chicago Bears one of their picks that they got from the bears and that is going to be late twenty four on looking. You know, were they need some help. And correct me if I'm wrong because they've got two picks coming up in the twenties. They got the twenty four th pick from the bears and they've got the twenty seven th pick from the raiders I got a feeling that we're going to be looking at a defensive back with the next pick of the Oakland Raiders, they are really depleted in that defensive backfield. And I'm looking at a guy like Byron Murphy who played cornerback at the university of Washington to me, it can get the job done and probably would fall to about that position. Yeah. I think that our prefer, greedy Williams Williams. I think he'll be gone. The Seattle Seahawks are gonna take him if he's like rebound. Murphy had great stats at Washington. He's very already, but they definitely defensive back with that in probably at twenty seven. I think they take Josh Jacobs running back from Alabama. If he is available as well. I would agree with that. But I'll tell you a guy that I know that they were high on. And I read this very recently Noah Fanta, tight end out of Iowa they're looking at that they've been looking at him as well. And don't be surprised if he goes with that twenty seven th pick. They'll definitely take him first but at some type of weapon for the twenty seven th pick. But I really hope they Williams at twenty four he's six threes that long Corry ran a four three seven. He's got a lot of -bility shut down quite a few SEC wide. Receivers. LSU always puts out good. He makes sense at twenty four, and you know, one of the things that this draft is thin on. We're not gonna see a future draft thin. There's a lot of great wide receivers coming up in college. But I don't see a wide receiver going into later in the first round. And we're looking at guys like decay medcalf who has all kinds of mad skills that redshirt sophomore open ole miss. I got a good pedigree and second of all twenty one point nine yards. A catch last season. This guy can flat out play. I don't think you'll be the number one pick in the draft. I think I should say the number one receiver going, I'm picking marquees Brown going to the Indianapolis Colts twenty-six is being the first wide receiver picked in the draft. That is really shocking that you get into almost the end of the first round before you're gonna see real wide receiver. Go very surprising yet marquee Brown and kill Harry. And he came back for probably the only guys being traffic first round of this of his draft. Lesson JD before I let you go. We'll get to the back end of the draft the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. Of course, the team that just finds a way I have never seen a team in the history of my life, which expands longer than I want to admit that is more of a plug and play franchise in any sport than the New England Patriots. They just plug and play every year in their successful. They've got the thirty second pick in the draft. At all. Does it gonna make me move? I'm guessing they're going to look at to me assessing that team. Yes, they need some help at the wide receiver position. But I think they also need some help in the secondary. And my pick. I'm giving I'm going on a limb right now, I'm going to say that are going to take a safety out of Mississippi State, who I really like Jonathan Abram, my guess. Jonathan avium. I would not be shocked at the patriots trade at that tech. Everybody else defensively. Right. You're right. They do plug and play by one thing. But you're right. They do tend to spend their first round picks on DVD players like Malcolm Brown, Jason mccourty. Players Gerard mail. For example, me shot. This maybe Taylor rap. He's a safety out of Washington as well. He's kinda come out. He's about six three to ten rangy guy was Washington even backs get a lot of respect at the NFL level. I wouldn't be shocked to see something like that. Or trade their pick is like I said, they're just they're so much more headed especially because defense coach nobody's even close to coach. Nope. I agree and one other thing the the the the team that played the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl the Los Angeles. Rams. There's a pretty good offensive linemen that might slide down that far the center out of North Carolina State. I think it's geared bradberry. I looked Iraq. And they need a center and man, oh man make that offensive straight line stronger and give Todd Gurley running. The guy from Iowa. Oh, I do for you. From iowa. I like him I like him. But I. I'll leave that alone other than I think that this kid would be would be great. They're JD. What are you? What do you expect? What gimme gimme a surprise in the draft somebody that you think that we're expecting to come off the board in the first round that you think is going to slip to the second round even beyond. I wouldn't be shocked to see greedy Williams slipped a little bit not not the second round. But. Five. He definitely has the best name in this year's NFL draft. Andres win. He's a superbly athletic and talented guy LSU that are high on. But you know, what I could actually see no fan flipping as well if the raiders twenty seven or the patriots at thirty two potentially, but they don't trade their pick. Yeah. Greedy williams. I'll tell you what. This guy flies. You read a sub for four forty combat name the last corner who's been all SEC or all conference who played well who had great tape. It was productive in college. Who ran for three seven at six three two hundred or whatever I mean, it doesn't make any sense that he's even there right now. Right. At four two or three months ago. I agree with you hundred percent. The guy the guy flies, and he is a big Houdini hits like a silent freight train, and and he's very very long and linear. If that long wingspan he's gonna order. He stays healthy. You're talking about a future. All pro. I love greedy Williams. Well, one of my one of my favorite players. And you know, like, I said I had them much just by the way the draft goes in what you hear and read I had going twenty seconds of the Seattle Seahawks. But we'll see. And I think we're we're at right now, I haven't refreshing Tennessee made their pick. I know they were up. I know that the last one was geared bradberry by the Minnesota Vikings. And and I think I don't see how was on the board yet. I guess Denver's on the board. I don't know. I don't know. I can't tell you did the computers refreshing. Now, it's taken some time. I think he got tired of me screaming about the Vegas Golden Knights. So listen, you can actually turn on the TV in their turn to the NFL draft. You know, what I see that? I will. I will do see I wish someone would have been for me in that at the beginning of forty minutes left. But I will watch the draft. He is JD sharp along with Brian Shapiro. They are the Vegas take. And they are normally here Monday through Friday, six to eight PM on Kate on that is one of one point five FM seven twenty AM and JD. We appreciate you. I'm jealous and please enjoy yourself from. Wow. Will you I will I will try to make a conscious effort to enjoy myself and Brian doing great job at thanks. I appreciate an Intel Shapiro to relax now. He doesn't need to get anybody on anybody. Tell him to enjoy the draft party and. And relax. He can get on people again tomorrow. Absolutely. Thanks, buddy, DD sharp, of course, joining the show from the draft party at Dray nightclub. How cool is that? I sacrifice my draft party ticket to come here and talk about the Golden Knights. But the bottom line is I told Dan Duva, I can't get rid of this pacifier. I'm still wearing my Huggies, and I'm crying a little bit. Okay. And that may go on for a while. I'm a Red Wings fan, but I'm a converted Vegas Golden Knights fan. And it was lousy. It was crappy what we saw happen. And again, just to stick around because in a little while we will we will be talking to Michael from TMZ sports. I'm really looking forward to that. This should be a time Michael Babcock. I should say they've got some stories right now. They've got one in there. I think on on Torri kill from Kansas City. We'll find out about him. I guess there were some recordings a things that he had said to his fiancee that are really really bad, man. Kansas City losing Kareem hunt. And then Tariq hill you're talking about a Super Bowl contender last year. You lose those two guys you listen to your top skill. Position players really put some pressure on them. And also some other stuff in the news at TMZ sports will be talking about as well looking very forward to that. And something pretty cool guess who's on the cover of Sports Illustrated speaking, I out of Sports Illustrated, the cover of Madden two thousand twenty speaking of the Kansas City Chiefs if that gives you a clue Michael Babcock. We'll talk about that as well when he comes on board, but just wrapping up with the NFL draft here, you know, a little bit. He can't wait a lot of this on the draft. And like I said, I might pick some pretty happy with them. There's still a lot of really good players in the draft. As we go down. You know, guys like, I just mentioned bradberry and offense of wineman. This guy can block out the sun. He is a big dude played at North Carolina State. And I hate he's going to the Minnesota Vikings, and they need it. They gotta protect Kurt cousins. Those of you that love Kirk cousins that are Vikings fan. Well, I went to Michigan state. I graduated from Michigan state. You think I would be all over Kirk cousins like a Hobo on a ham sandwich. I'm not okay. I'm not sold on Kirk cousins. I never have been he turned out to be a better quarterback than RG three. Just because RG three got hurt. The injury that RG three heavy should've never played a week later that he might be a whole different guy made a written a whole different history for himself..

"All my film valuations. Are there on my prospect articles are there find me there? Yeah. That's that's about it. You are a Cowboys fan. Right. We want to be full. Be gentle evening, please. How magenta? John is is one of the best evaluators. I know when it comes to talent, no matter what team he roots for. And we're we're we're good friends. So you don't have to worry about any Homer ISM coming out. The non Homer show. We're gonna talk about these prospects than fight over which one's the eagles will get over the Cowboys. Let's go over your rankings, John. So what I'm looking at here in this is pretty standard fare here. At number one. Nick Boza is number one. We can talk about that. Or we can talk about this little stack. Here you got under that because Brian burns is my number two guy. You have Josh Allen Montas, sweat, and then Brian burns pretty closely clump together who separates themself. And why refer instance, Josh Allen above that? Clump under bozo. Why they're the thing that really impressed me about Josh Allen is just that his footwork was always purposeful. He always had a plan with his footwork. And he used it really well to manipulate the past sets of offense at tackles. He did a lot of things in that Kentucky defense, and he had a lot of different responsibilities that he had to do on a play by play basis in the situations where he was allowed to pin is yours beckon. Really rush the passer you really saw on excel toward the ends of yelp close out. I think two or three of Kentucky's games this year. You see eat off the edge. You see the violence necessary with his hands. Even though I think with swipes he could be a little bit more forceful more violent with his hands. And I think it'd be a little bit more effective. But you see it with the chops. He's really effective with us shortly the corner with chops, and then he has the flexibility to run the corner and run at high speed while maintaining his momentum. Really? Well, they think that really sold me on him. It's just like I said jump as I think his work is more purposeful than any than burns or Mont has sweat is join me over to a guy like Monty, obviously, he has all the at letting ability in the world that you could want the edgy has the awesome three cone time. He has all the four speed the good shuttle time, and I really think he gets a undersold with how good his hand technique is. I think just because he play. Through the pads of his of opposing tackles, people kind of downgrade his hands a little bit more than they should. I think he uses his length for the well, I think he has a variety of escape city uses off his length off along arm off a to Hans app that uses really well, the only thing with him is where Josh really set itself apart with the work is I think Montas sweat isn't as advanced footwork. You see he has the Roth down Bachchan did you want from this? Or if he has a couple little stutter steps he hasn't inside Javed it'll us, but he doesn't consistently show purpose with his foot work. And then now's the same thing with Ryan burns. I think he can I think he gets a little bit lazy with his insight foot a lot of times when he's trying to corner in that causes in the drift a little bit farther upfield in a guy with his kind of flexibility and speed really could in. I think in the NFL s gonna get a little bit. That's why he's a little bit lower on my rankings than which you see from most people. And that's interesting. You mentioned the footwork lot in that can be overlooked aspect. When you watch this guys because you know, you're watching the. Dan, you're watching them first explosion. Can you? Explain briefly real quick. Why footwork is so key especially for somebody. That might have some issues with some flexibility for them to be wanna turn that corner. Yeah..

"Offers the best player in the graph less three weeks. I think w d kind of depends on trade down can mean a lot of things right to trade down doesn't necessarily mean. You move out of the first trade down to like fifteen. So then you're going from Josh Allen to Brian burns who I really liked to. And then you get maybe an additional pick to take a quarterback lot of meandering thinking, you're doing years ridiculed for doing the same thing. I asked you. Josh. And if he's as good as you is then trading back to get a getting burns and some other picks. Like, I don't know that it's worth it. If Josh Allen is is Pro Bowl caliber pass rusher, which I think he might be I really like him. So I might be inclined to take him as well. So the number two team. The number two team. You know, what having an open mind is something that is not typically associated with me. But every now, and then when you come on this podcast, I have been known to be more malleable than usual gum. So the Niners like I said everyone's Suming they're gonna take both after if. The if. This dramatic if but forgot where I was going if Iran. Arizona doesn't take Murray and the either. Okay. So if they trade down trade out of that position someone else's taking column, right, right? I guess somebody could trade ups number one for Bosa. But that seems pretty. Okay. If they take Bosa at number one, which would be probably the only other possibility, right? It's either Murray Bosa for air Sony, number one. What do you do if you're San Francisco? If they trade out if no if AirAsia was to take Nick Bosa of Arizona, take mcq wealthier trade out, if your San Francisco if all because someone else want's column or yeah there, right? You don't. Yeah. I don't think because they don't know that they want Nick both all that much. Like, Nick, both is being forced on them. They made the the the d Ford signing I think that that's going to be a good tandem of Bosa in Ford on the edges, but I don't like dying for Nick bolsa they have to take Nichols. Because that's where they are. Right now. I don't think the difference between Nick Bosa and Josh Allen is as big as it's being made out to be necessarily the tweets, and they don't have. Go down that road. I should've introduced more clever way rather than just saying. But you're right. I mean, the the signing of deformed who I've always been a little bit if you about, but I ended up liking that once the details of the contra came in and you realize Niners get out of it pretty easily. I liked it and very high upside player, and while yes, the idea of a defensive line anchored by Bosa and for the outside with divorce Buckner who I think is very good passers. That's very sexy proposition. Right. But it's not like an area of desperation in the way that I think the raiders just really need a pass rusher right now. So I do think if they trade they could fill some other holes on their roster the hill secondary really Cornerbacks. I mean the position of opposite Richard Sherman. They did signed Jason vary, which is another deal. I like, but you know, that's that's a one year thing they need there. They haven't had a lot of success drafting guys wide receivers and other position. I thought with Garoppolo coming back, obviously, they joy. George Kittles probably one of the best draft picks of the last few years but outside of him. I think that's an area. You know, you guys I love Dante Pettus husky product, but that's a pretty strong area of need. They don't really have a true number one receiver. So if they trade out because this is all highly speculative unlikely because more likely not going to get Nick Bosa, and this will all be moot. But those are some of the other positions, I think that they could fill I suppose if they had that opportunity. I I agree. I think they're going to go with Nick Bosa because I think milk, hyper said, it's ninety nine point nine percent. Gonna take. Kyla murray?.

This is someone that's so on the top of your board that you'd even be willing to trade up for so we can go I will go see because that's important whose everyone's number one. The one person that if you can get him is going to be the top of your board. All right day. Brian go ahead. Well, I mean, I think this one's a no brainer. Devon white. Junior LSU Jeff did. Oh, and that is also the same for me. He is the one who I if they're trading up the higher. They trade. It's going to be for him in my opinion item, sell the farm. Yes. That's so that's pretty much our consensus number one on the board. And I bet you anything we probably pretty much agree on number two as well. What do you got Brian? We don't know you guys are. I'm going to shock a lot of people here. Florida state Brian burns outside linebacker. Really interesting. He's on my board. But he's on board too. Yeah. I I think that. This is fairly new for me. But I'm thinking that this guy is the perfect three four linebacker for them. And he's had an shoulders above the last few oil LB's, including TJ, I think this guy could be a a rarity made All-Pro. And I mean, not that you really desire that position with. I mean, I I've sure what love to see what a minute. What's that? We can talk about that position in a minute. Yeah. I mean, I'd love to see what what the comments section is saying right now. But I just I really think that he could be transcend transcendent player. So I'm going with burns. Jan. I steps with the other Devon and said Devin Bush, I did get a chance to study him a little bit more. I just think that the Steelers need is there, and I would still be willing to trade up for him. Not as high as white. I would trade into the top ten whereas I I would trade it into the top five for for white, but Bush at he's at he's he says so athletic and he's three down guy. And I think that he would fit the scheme. Very well. So that's who I have on my second on my big board as do I. And that's also because this is my cut off point of the board of where I'm really willing to actually trade up unless there's a massive run on all the players on my board. Because of course, we have people that aren't on our on our board. Like, for example. I I'm not I'm knocked off people like like Bosa. He's not going to be there twenty nine. Yeah. Quarterbacks and stuff like that. This whites are big word, so two of us have white and and and Brian went with burns. So now, it's probably where we're really start to differ. Yes. So for the third what do you got there? Brian. This is where I go Bush, okay? I love me. I love me. I really think that this guy is I mean, you could go deep with this guy. I'm sorry. I'm really. Okay. Fine. All right. That's okay professionalism. Let's try that I'm gonna go a little bit different. I'm going to bring in the cornerback position. And I'm gonna say Byron Murphy cornerback from Washington. A lot of people will think greedy Williams, a lot of people are going to say maybe Baker from Georgia. I like Byron Murphy, I think that he's a guy that is able to step in and play right away. He can play multiple positions multiple styles. He has good ball skills can tackle. I think he's probably the most well rounded quarterback he might not be the most physically gifted. But this we're gonna talk about this little bit later with are either were, but I I like him. So I have him third on my board believe it or not David value. Here's where I go off from what people might think..

"So that is why I think the giants are so often connected to to defensive players to Quinton Williams. If he happens to fall to Josh Allen, if he happens to fall, Montas sweat. Rashawn Gary Brian burns, Devon white. Perhaps, you know, someone Ed Oliver perhaps someone in that, you know, someone out of that group of players. I think that that is where the value is at number six in terms of number seventeen. Once again, let's let's say that it's Dwayne Haskins. And let's say that that he's you know that he's ranked twentieth or twenty fifth on their draft board to take him at seventeen if they feel like he's a quarterback they could succeed with that is closer to realistic value. I don't see it as I don't see it as that much of a reach to say, oh, you know, if they didn't like this guy at six what you know. Then then why should they like him at seventeen because the value is closer to what they have on their draft board. If you know if that's the way, they want to go if they don't think the quarterback is value at six, then you take the player, you think can really impact your defense. I continue to believe I continue to think there's a strong possibility that the giants will not take a quarterback at all in the first round. Maybe they'll take one at thirty seven. Don't know. Maybe they will take someone like Daniel Jones at seventeen, but I'm not buying this argument that if he's not value at six than he's not value at seventeen. I simply don't see it that way. Alright giants fans another question that we have here comes from David freed and David wants to know. I don't see a lot of mock drafts with the giants taking a right tackle in the first round. Whereas I believe that is inevitable. What odds are you giving that the six or seventeenth pick is a hog, Molly? Well, David, let's put it this way. Haag molly's exist on both sides of the football offensive and defensive lines. I think we've established that somewhere along the way, you know, the giants will be, you know, we'll be paying a lot of attention to the defense in the two thousand nineteen NFL draft. Pretty much. We you know, it would be a surprise at this point if the the sixth overall pick is not a defensive player most likely affront, seven guy, you know, and more likely than not an edge guy or an interior linemen. You know, like a Quinton Williams. You know, an edge guy like a Montas, sweat or Brian burns as we've talked about were, Sean, Gary, you know, whoever happens to be on the board there. I think that I'm not sure that I by the fact that you know, quote, unquote, not a lot of mock drafts have the giants taking a right tackle in the first round. I think that we quite often see, you know, someone like John Taylor of Florida if he falls to seventeen mach to the giants we see Andrei Dillard of Washington state or Cody Ford of Oklahoma mocked to the giants. And I think all of those guys are realistic possibilities for the giants in the first in the first round. So would someone like like if you wanna center Garrett bradberry would be guy, you know, who would get consideration in the first round if he's there at seventeen I look at six seventeen and thirty seven and have said this before you look at quarterback you look at right? Tackle you look at pass rusher. You look at cornerback. And if you really want to you could probably throw in wide receiver as as a fifth area, but focusing on those first four. Positions. I would think that somewhere in those first thirty seven picks where the giants have six seventeen thirty seven. I think you're going to see the giants hit three of those four areas. And I think right tackle is a huge priority. So at seventeen or thirty seven I think, it's very very very possible that the pick for the giants at that point in the draft would be a guy who could slide in at right tackle. Let's take a quick break for word from our sponsors..

"So that's another thing. If you hear somebody say that the they know the dolphins draft ward, they don't we know who the dolphins might like right now like Amman tests wet like a Brian burns like a restaurant, Gary. We know they like them we know that based on what we've heard before Flora's came in the general thinking was that they wanted to draft a quarterback on day two. So that's kind of still in play. We don't know of planes of change, we won't know until draft night. It's kind of brand new to see what these guys are willing to do working together. We know that Christopher didn't have a ton of input under the regime of Mike Tannenbaum. An Adam gates was going to be really interesting to see what they do. So kevin. I'm going to throw it right to you. And like I said to everyone else if you're listening here, we're just gonna kinda shoot the crap a little bit tonight. We're going to just throw things. We're going to really talk about the draft hone in on the draft hone in on a few prospects. Weakening, the dolphins might like. And kind of just give our thoughts on where we think the dolphins will go, which is whole thing. So Kevin on put you on the spot. I Duane Haskins quarterback if he's there at thirteen if he's within striking distance do you think dolphins draft him? And if not who do you think is a good option for the dolphins to groom behind Ryan Fitzpatrick and possibly the next quarterback in twenty twenty. I think that. I think that it comes down to what everybody's going to say if they love him they go and get him. And I think has his guy that he has the potential. He absolutely could be the pick. And if he's there at thirteen for whatever reason, or if there's a trade up to nine ten eleven somewhere around there, obviously the bills are involved there. So you don't necessarily see that trait happening. But if you like him that much, and you can get up there without spending a whole lot. There's no way I'm jumping up to five six seven try to get him. But if you can trade up a little bit, and you can get him. I won't argue against it. I do not want them to trade up. I think this is the perfect trait. The perfect draft trade down, especially since there clearly stockpiling those twenty twenty picks, but at thirteen if they aren't going quarterback my thought he's and. I I don't think there's a wrong choice between offense of lying defense tackle or defensive end. I think that that's absolutely where the teen has to look, but my my pick. And I don't know if he'll be there. But my pick would be Oliver. I absolutely love it. Oliver. We are just talking about him before the show what you're kind of contemplating whether he'd even dropped us. It was feels a little bit of a pipe dream right now that he's would fall down thirteen but we've seen crazier things happen with the dolphins. And even recent miss recent memory, Kevin. There are thirty two roster spots open for the Miami Dolphins where all these bodies gonna come from, bro. They are going to be busy with undrafted free agents. It's going to be insane. Because and I do think that another part of this is they're still going to sign some veterans. I don't think they're done doing that yet. But I think they're just waiting for. I think the date is the second Tuesday after the draft. I think that's when it usually is. For the convinced Tory picks deadline to hit at once. They do that. I think you're going to see some guys get picked. And I think there's some big guys out there. And that's my guess is that's part of why guys like indomethacin sewer still unsigned because there are teams that don't he may get a big contract out there. But he's not going to get one and take away. Somebody's compensatory pick. I just want to circle back to Duane Haskins. Because before we got on the air. I think it came out that the Detroit Lions along with every team in the NFL. We're trying to trade back in this year's draft. I mean, if Haskins falls to eight and they believe he's their guy..

"Range does VH need to get in order to snag Brian burns. So I think if they're gonna take Brian burns. They're gonna have to trade with the Packers at twelve if he's even their twelve I don't think she is. I I'd be thrilled with the Packers taking. So I don't think I would be ticked man. The traded back and burns all the way back to twenty nine. He's you know, what I think we're I think maybe draft Twitter and us and some other people are maybe higher Brian burns than the NFL is. Yeah. But you're still seeing him drafted in the team. Yes. Sixteen seventeen range. And so there's the answer to maybe there. There's there's one scenario is that that would be arranged up the trade up. But if you're asking us, they're gonna have to move up twelve plus probably, and that would be a lot a lot of it costs a lot. Probably say about a boat second round pick something like that. Or one second round pick this year and one next year. Right. Like crazy like that. And that Monte even not enough or even I next year. I mean, we're talking about moving bat fall. Right. But you're not giving much after that at boss Bach. Nine asks thoughts on Byron Murray. Charles admin Hewitt nemani Hooker as possible draft pick. So Byron Murphy, you know, I think you guys will know how we feel about Bhairon. I wonder if his length is going to be a problem for them his size. If Steve Spagnolo light if he's really looking identify long athletic kind of players Byron doesn't fit that role. He's just a great football player. And I'm a fan of bringing good football players in the mix trails in and Hugh. I think he actually fits the profile of what St. back knows looking for from a length from density perspective. So that's a guy that you know, like the last couple of weeks, I've kind of been cute my on a little bit more and more as we go. Amani hooker. He's a top fifty player for us. I'm more excited about the cheese. Two second round picks AM twenty nine because Amani Hooker..

"Subject of the warriors Durant. The word is will play tonight. Cousins tweaked his foot, maybe just maybe bogut will make his return tonight. They were waiting until he got home. I have a couple of practices. Under his belt. But because of the question Mark surrounding cousins, we might see bogut tonight in San Antonio. But definitely on the floor will be Kevin Durant. Let's bring in Dave Lombardi, if you re day that the athletic. I mean, he is right on with the forty Niners the salary cap, everything that that you need to know. What is the next move for the forty Niners? Dave in your estimate if any. I think that they're essentially done I would predict as far as this March free agent cycle goes, I really, you know, if if I had to say there is going to be a move just assuming there is one that I don't think there will be one. I think it'd be something like a trade for somebody like AJ green chrome from the Bengals. But I don't think that's going to happen. I I always thought that would be the most likely way to quote, unquote, number one wide receiver. I never thought that Odell Beckham junior or Tonio Brown where we're likely moved. I know the forty Niners were we're trying to trade for Odell Beckham junior. But but the giants were gonna want that number two pick from them. And that's according to all the reports that we've seen and I don't think the forty Niners were willing to part with that though. I think that anything that they do from here on out outside of the draft the other avenues, a player acquisition free agency or trade. I think is going to would involve if. Happened future draft picks nothing from this year. They're not going to give up any draft picks and this year because I think the focus right now is on that twenty nineteen draft where the forty Niners want to make the most of the picture they have which includes that number two overall pick. So the way you see it. They won't be going down. Then they'll use that number two pick. No, no. They may go down. I don't think that they would trade away to number two pick for a player. I mean what we've already seen it. They won't do that. They didn't do it throwing Beckham junior name may traded down for more picks to but but the focus is still on this drought. So whether it be through attaining a blue chip player with the number two overall, pick war Eru gaining a lot more picks because I think you only have six totally that makes total. What was so? So whether it be through one of those paths, they're they're going to be focusing on the draft from this point on before we get to your article, and and you wrote a great piece on Parague and kind of the impact of Parague this off season. But if the forty Niners are going to trade down. And I still think that's the better route. I had somebody the other day say, oh, you know, you're just an anti draft Bosa guy. Now just think that when you have the second pick in the draft. And you have a lot of needs that you know, you could feel multiple needs with that pick. And maybe do some real nice things for your football that that you know, that are greater than just adding Nick Bosa. But what what do you think if they want to trade down from to who do you think give me one two or three teams that you think may be interested in trading up? And and who do you think those teams are trading up to get? That that's interesting. I mean, it'd be whoever is I would think it out to be for a quarterback. Right. I mean, that's normally where the where the trades in this situation come from. That's why you want one of those top two picks. You know, what's interesting to me is this this class is so heavy on these guys. Right. And now you have some of these mock drafts. Obviously both you know projected to go number two by quite a few at the top. But now, Josh Allen Brian burns. You know, all these guys are being projected to go top ten some draft. Even have all them going in in the top five. And then of course, that's before. We even talk about Montesquieu wet or or quitting Williams is obviously not a guy. He's an interior guy from Alabama. So you know, this draft is so interesting to me, and and it makes that question yours a little harder for me to answer. Because normally the rush for the very top Hicks is because people are desperate for quarterbacks. And because quarterbacks are are scheduled to go in that top two. But this draft is so exceptional to me. Because so many of these defensive linemen are expected to go very high. Maybe even the top ten maybe even in the top five. So. That's what makes this really hard to predict for me. And I don't know who would want to swap with the forty Niners exactly here for you know, this number two pick and how low the forty Niners will be willing to go. Because I still think that they want to ensure that they get another one of these defensive linemen to help fortify the pass rush. And if they're all expected to go in the top ten a lot of these elite guys, then how willing would the forty Niners trade if they really do want to stock up on blue chip on blue chip talented that position. So it's all very exceptional for me. This here considering that whole dynamic any chance or I should probably say what what are the chances that Garoppolo is one hundred percent. Is there any doubt in your mind that he comes back and opening day? He's ready to go. I think that he's on track right now. Based on the last that I already was throwing these I think you've gone through dropbox already. They do expect them to do some stuff in OTA's. Obviously, he won't be involved in the full team scrimmage activities, not as roll around. So I think that based on everything that's out so far Garoppolo is is coming along who's the backup? Getting a right now, let's say it's McMullan. They still have the same assortment of quarterbacks on the roster, Nick Mullins and CJ Beathard. But obviously Mullen usurp the bettered last year, and I don't see any reason for that the switch back. There was a mention over the weekend that Mullins of the New York Giants asked the Niners about Mullins that I thought that was kind of an interesting now. But Dave we got on here to talk a little bit about your article. You wrote an article in the athlete we're talking to Dave Lombardi and the athlete covers the Niners and it's entitled Niners salary cap breakdown. How the how this round of Parague Murata's frontloaded deals impacts the big picture, and Dave you're such a bright guy. And so this is such a well researched and written piece, and we could probably do a hourlong podcasts getting into the nuances of this thing. But for for those who don't have read this yet. Once you give them if you can in thirty or thirty seconds or a minute or so the gist of of what? Your your point was and why Parague has been such an asset. Well over the past two off seasons. We have seen a very distinct theme of signings and forty Niners free agency. And I call them asterisk signings. And I don't mean that in a good or a bad way. I mean that and we're going to have to see kind of way, but what the Asterix signings have done is that the type of player that the forty Niners of acquired whether it be Jimmy Garoppolo with a fairly small sample size of start the only had seven career starts and they signed him for Richard Sherman. Had a torn achilles. They signed him or this year. Quantel exander at the L. He's still recovering from the right now or D forties. Only had one really good year in his contract seasons. Every single player that the forty Niners have dealt with in the player acquisition process has had either an injury asterisk or sample size after and what this is allowed them to do. It allowed them to give them contracts with easy exits for the forty Niners after year one or in the case of Garoppolo after your to after this season. The forty Niners can part ways with Garoppolo because they don't own any more guaranteed money with all these other guys. It was after your one the forty Niners could get out, and that's been the theme across every single contract. If you want to compare it to alternatives at the position Cornell zander's making fourteen million guaranteed full year and team from the forty Niners. They can get out of it and no cost beyond that an alternative with CJ Moseley from who who signed of the New York Jets CJ mostly is getting forty three million dollars guaranteed. So that nearly thirty million more fully guaranteed. So the forty Niners by signing the guy with a tornado PL were able to do it at a significant discount, obviously they took on some risk, but they can get out of it. If if the if it if it doesn't work out, that's the strategy. I don't know if it's a good one. Or if it's a bad one until we see these guys play because you don't want to keep on releasing these guys just because you can that's obviously not good for the franchise either. Some of them have. The pan out the forty Niners themselves in position to gain some value down the road. I if if the best case scenario does happen with some of these, you know, one of the things that jumps out. I mean, it's a really well written piece attendance, Gary it's so involved that a dog's calling the shots. That's what I. Yeah. I mean Carey's kinda onto something there. Dave Dave embarking on the guests line. There's a lot of different ways to look at this. You can look at these contracts and say, wow, prerogas, really sharp and giving them so many outs. But then when you look closer. It's almost like jed and Parague have made the structure of these deals such that if the totally fall on their face this year, the Niners beat meaning jed and Parague can pivot away from Lynch and Shanahan at the end of this year. If this winds up being another bad year, four win type year, they it doesn't seem like there's an awful lot of contracts here. Dave that they can kind of maneuver at the end of this off season. Like they've set it up for this year to just be an absolutely huge year. And if it's not a huge year, they may be gone a different direction. What do you think? Yeah. That's true. And and I guess the the more cynical way of looking at it would be would be that the counter argument to that is the forty hours have been doing this since last year before anybody was was mentioning, you know, any potential the hot seat after twenty nine t and they've been doing this since they resigned Garoppolo when they when they added Sherman, you know, those were all deals with the forty Niners could easily get out of so so you could argue from the counterargument that the motivation for this is one that Lynch and Shanahan have established. So that they have enough care because cap space carries over unused carryover. So by structuring the deals by maintaining flexibility and making sure that you have money moving forward. It allows them to solidify the roster moving down the line. Because theoretically when the team starts winning if it does then you're going to have to read up guys. I mean, deforest Buckner is already guy whose projected to make a lot of money on a big contract after his rookie deal done. George kiddle made only five hundred fifty five thousand dollars.

"I really do think they'd find a way to play a strikes, but that's another story in Maddie's ruling, as is probably SWEB twenty nine asks is there a player in this draft that you'd be willing to make a similar trade as the saints did in two thousand eighteen to move up in a choir, Marcus, Davenport's? So what the what the saints did if years goes they gave up pick twenty nine they gave up their fifth round pick. And then they gave up next year's first Craig Orie. That's still putting you're about the tennis range maybe a little bit lower than that. So I know I think all of the players I'd be willing to trade up for at that point are gone top five. And I think that I'd rather say that pick. Kint enrolling my is. Because it has taken me this long to get a talk about draft prospects in our podcast. This is unacceptable. This draft season is in my contract. This is not happening. We have a whole draft pot on Thurs on Friday. No, no, don't go. Yes. If there's somebody sliding to pick ten niche like Greg said, if Brian burns probably won't be there. But if there's any of the top guys anybody that's kind of up in that level. I do think there's a chance that Brian Byrne slides not a big one. But there's a slight chance somebody like at Oliver. If you really want to swing is. I do think that. Airy fits the defensive end mold that we have been talking about for this entire podcast. Even if I don't love his Ed rushing tape, so far he has all the physical traits and that size. So if you really wanna make Marcus Davenport type trade and a guy that is just all upside that you have to still figure out what to make him what to do to make him better for Sean Gary kind of fits that mold. But outside those guys I think that's about my limit. Yeah. I think that's about what I would call call it quits in terms of trading up the two first to get that high out rather just trade up. I end a third to move up five spots six seven spots rather than go that far. I think about it with Brian burns. I love Brian burns. And he he answered some more questions coming in at two forty nine and testing awesome. So I mean, that's a guy thing about it all over to pita sant- chiefs fifteen asks thoughts on some talk of the cheese taking a center early in the day. Draft, mattie. I know this is a hot button for you as well in the first round. So if the cheese took Garrett bradberry in the first round, what would your reaction be met? Yes. So we're running out of time to keep the speed around. I think that'd be a terrible pick for the chiefs right now the gap between whatever you're getting at center at the end of the first round, even that's gave Bradbury who is in very good prospect to what we saw from Austin rider last year, isn't that big? It's not big enough to justify ignoring cornerback safety defensemen defensive tackle wide receiver running back tied in to or just about any other positions to inside centre. So I just I don't get the move. I don't get the pig. You're gonna pay him essentially the same that you're paying Austin rider. You just chose the pay money to after the season was over the entire move would make absolutely no sense to me. You wanna get depth on the interior offensive line early in the draft on day two sometime I understand you're losing a very good center. You want somebody to fill in. But just in the first round that doesn't help the team this year on a not sure it makes team that much better going forward. Craig anything to add to that. I will lose my mind, if if we take center, even even though I love, very, I would lose my mind could football player plate foot beer, but it would be it'd be it'd be a letdown to save way that last year's draft broke me. The chiefs Patrick Mahomes put up fifty touchdowns at had MVP season with like throwaways and undrafted free agents in their interior line..

"And that's the issue. People have with them is going to be a size. But you cannot tell the film he is going to lose a little bit. The line of scrimmage just against runs. That's the nature of the beast when you're that size. Which is watching him come off the ball with his speed. I think his not even his first step just his speed in the backfield is definitely one of the best in class in the best. You've seen in recent years. That's even with a false step like every snap. He has slowly like bend in his knees right out of the snap. Every single time in he still beats tackled around the corner without them even getting their hands on him without him having to make a move his burst on real. He's got a ton of pass rush moves. So it's a little bit different than somebody like de Ford. Just the connection. I think a lot of chiefs fans may coming out of Auburn who didn't really have a ton of pass. Rush moves polite has counters top account as he knows how to set him up win to use them. The thing is he just loves to clean up a little bit of footwork with that on his scrimmage, and he's gonna be probably the best pass rusher. Quickly out of this draft class to me, and he might even come right out of the gauge at that point. So he's a little bit of a situational player. But as a future weakside defensive end, I think he's an absolutely perfect fit for the chiefs in if they get a chance to draft him at twenty nine I will live. Do it back flip. If this happens. Well, and there's there's the funny thing about this Bach. And how it set up is a lot of situations when we're looking at stuff there's like slim pickings for the Chiesa twenty nine, but in this situation, there were two other players that I would just be absolutely thrilled for the details instead of backflips. I I would I would do the Carlton day. It's on repeat for navy. Our now, I got to see that. I have no shame doing that. I'm a pretty I'm getting pretty good at that one. I'll just say that much Brian burns the edge from Florida state's was still on the board in this mock draft burns is six foot five he's anywhere between two hundred and thirty five and two hundred and forty five pounds. I'm assuming on this mock Reuter thinks that he's going to be two thirty five because there's no reason that he should have been falling into the second round the way he did in this Mark. And if the chiefs. Wound up with burns at twenty nine. If they traded up for him at I dunno eighteen or fifteen I'd be thrilled. He's he's long. He's pretty explosive. I think he's I think he has the best bend in this class. I've seen him be able to use his link to get strip sex consistently. He's surprisingly good at the point of attack the run game. So a guy that is not particularly dense. You don't expect him to be? But he actually does a very serviceable job. I love his pass rush plan. There's there's a lot of different moves that he's hit people with. I'm a big fan of his game. I think he's one of the fifteen ten best players in this class. Craig ry. There was another guy that had no business big on the board at twenty nine in this mock draft who was it. It was CB one..
