"Even as popular wrestlers continued to leave the WWF for the rival WCW. Brett Star continued to rise. The excellence of execution became his tagline. But that's really what he was so kind of raw talent. He proved himself to be so valuable. That when and all the other stars Kinda left the company he he stepped up. Brett was emblematic of an old school kind of wrestling. His technique was unparalleled. Ll in hearken back to the shooter style of wrestling that he learned in the Hart Dungeon shooter style. Is You don't really see it anymore. But it's kind of European pins South Asian wrestling hybrid. It's one part grappling and one part hand to hand combat and it was famous for its submission holes. You could see all of that influence. Come through in his finishing move. Finishing move is the move that you do that. No one else can answer you know. And that's the move that when you apply the fans no it's over it's also the move when the person gets out of it the fans. Oh my gosh this is a match that means something and so breasts. Finishing move is one of the the all time great finishing moves and a move. That really really does not feel good. When applied is most people can attest to that have had applied to them by one of their friends when they were growing up? And that's the sharp shooter and it's a submission move like you know you. You basically locked the person's legs and apply pressure in such a way that Oh my God they could probably snap your leg if they wanted to. And it's also so mazing watch and put it on because you're basically watching someone make themselves in another human being into Human Pretzel so they're they're folding their legs and there's like it's like an a human origami at a certain point. The Brett was joined by members of his own family who formed the core of the Hart Foundation. Now that's not a charity. The Hart Foundation was is the name for the crew wrestlers that surrounded bread. There were his brothers in law Jim the Anvil night. Hart and the British bulldog and there is Owen. Hart the Youngest member of the heart brewed in the nineties. One of the most prominent plot lines in the WWF was a rivalry between bret and Owen with playing the overlooked younger sibling out for revenge from all the hear from people that did know him was one of the funniest was charming. Most down to Earth human beings on earth but he he could play horrible horrible human being in the ring and just was just so funny and just had such great sense of timing became a star. When I was a little boy was bigger than me and when he was older than me and he pick on me and tease me and make me bully me? There was a time when you used to be but then and I've got bigger and I got I got older back. Here's Brett talking about having to keep up the charade in a documentary about owens life. We never talked to each other same flight same plane same. He'd sit in one spot nights in another one time. We got detained. At Calgary. Customs Owen wants something to me and I kind of lean back and I said the maximum rate or something like that and also in this woman's customs officer come barging little office. And she goes I. Gotcha I knew that you guys talk. I knew you were friends eventually. The two siblings reconciled in the ring and routined up but soon enough real life drama would intervene. Vince McMahon the head of the WWF was losing viewers to Ted Turner's WCW. But Vince thought he we had a solution he felt that America was done with a straightforward heroes and villains at wrestling had promoted for so long. They wanted something different and we in the WWF think did you. The audience are quite frankly tired of having your intelligence insulted. We also think that you're tired of the same old simplistic theory of a good guys versus bad guys. Surely the era of the Superhero urge you to say your prayers and take your vitamins is definitely passe. Hey he started to turn wrestling into something. More provocative but Brett didn't like the new direction. It's got a lot more raunchier lot. More sexual shows very very sexual in a in a bad way. I don't think you watch wrestling for sex. I don't think it's I don't think it's become something you presentable to your children like like my kids won't want any more or none of them. Not even the teenagers and it's just become something. I don't really want associated myself with the clean athletic strain of wrestling that Brett embodied who's making King Wafer something flashier but he was still the biggest star in the WWF and a huge draw. Brett wanted a new contract from the WWE. It didn't feel that he was offered the money he deserved told them he was going to go to Turner depending on who you believe. Vincent man was given time to counteroffer. Sure he wasn't given time to counter off or depending on who you believe. There's a lot of different versions of these stories but he was decided that he was going to go to. WCW and he still had the heavyweight championship chip. And that's that's the key you know Vincent Man did not want him leaving with that belt he want him to lose it in Montreal like that was the idea. He's like he was. He was GONNA lose it to Shawn Michaels and he said. I just don't want to do in Montreal. The next star up from him is Shawn Michaels and Shawn Michaels and Bret Heart in real life end in wrestling. Life have a massive rivalry so this is how much they hated. Each Other during a live live broadcasted monologue Shawn michaels insinuated. That Bret Hart was cheating on his wife with sunny. I need this this woman wrestler. You got some ninety days. Get the job done. So that's how ugly the rivalry was between them. So when they got in the ring together they really wanted to beat the shit out of each other and the idea that Brett rat would have to hand over the title to Shawn. Michaels was the highest of insults. The animosity was very real. That's the one thing that I don't think anyone really questions like now they. They were buddies behind the scenes but they were great friends at one point. You know here's Brett again in wrestling with shadows talking about just how humiliating would be to lose to Shawn. Michaels in a Canadian arena can't do it. I discard Vince. Just assume blow my brains out would be the same from a character standpoint. That's what we'll be doing birthday. He met Hardwood bullet brain cells so they come up with this plan to basically instead of losing to Shawn Michaels the match that they had planned for each other in Montreal. It will end in a draw a sh- MAS is what they call it. When a bunch of wrestlers sort of like ambushed the ring and the referee so disoriented doesn't know what to do? He just has to call it off and then the next day Brat was going to just sort of forfeit the title Brett sent in his resignation in signed with the WCW and finally ended my career fourteen years with the WWF. I can't help but feel really Oy. Heart broke and disappointed. That dumb left this company. What Brett didn't know is? Is that Vince Shawn Michaels and almost certainly. The referee had a different idea of how the match would end in Montreal in. Brett's the home country where he is a bona fide hero. They decided to kind of go behind. Brett's back they told them. Okay fine you know you can have your your victory in Montreal. And then we'll take the belt off you the next night. But they went behind his back and they came with a different plan. And that plan was they got Earl hefner involved the referee and Got Shawn Michaels in on it as well and it was decided that Sean was going to win the belt on November Ninth Nineteen Nineteen ninety-seven Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels got in the ring in front of twenty thousand fans in Montreal Sean Puts Brett in his own finishing move this like tribute to his family to his father. Sean puts in the in the sharpshooter Kirby Center and almost immediately the REF calls for the bell to ring and Shawn Michaels winced title. And he just books out of the Ring John Gathering immediately. Everyone just got out like let's get L. earlier. You can clearly see the shock on Bret. Hart's face he was promised that he wouldn't end his WWF career by losing in front of a Canadian audience. But Vince McMahon had lied to him. That's when he sees Vince McMahon Ringside and. He spits right in his face. Bread red search trashing camera equipment around the rink and Brat knowing that the. TV's are still on him. He starts to spell the letters. WCW WCW in the air. He's just walking around spelling. WCW and basically saying fuck you. You fucked me. I'm GonNa Fuck you and it was war. Afterwards he heads backstage and asks Shawn Michaels if he knew what was going to happen. Sean lies and says that he didn't Sean you're talking witness. Aw God still came back. Your Vince McMahon comes to see bright right in the locker room and Bret Hart he punches his billionaire boss right in the face. Here's Vincent Man being interviewed a week after the Montreal match I was disappointed in Brett when he hit me.

"What am I ten percent? That's amazing obviously. Music is a big part of your life. being like a dock Both of us. We know there's a lot of time restraints weighed. You know doing things outside of medicine so forth so for you like what a music fit in regards to your obviously a highly accomplished a physician and I took a lot of discipline and dedication to kind of keep that going hide you find room for music or like how do you view music in your life. That's a great question because Well you know soap new me in in college obviously and both of you guys could probably really relate to this as a first generation Indian kid growing up. You know you had to be one of the three Ds in my house you were you. There had to be a doctor a dentist or you're gonNA be disgraced so like on Ford unfortunately. Dj was not one of those these right as much as I wish it was. One of those these But music was everything for me growing up. It's the the thing that I was probably most intrinsically. Motivated by basketball was another one too That you know I think that's. That's another interesting discussion. Maybe we could. Have you know y like hip hop and specifically basketball related to so many like you know they see at least guys growing up but you know the drums were a huge part of my background. Like you know. I grew up playing the drums. I played in all sorts of Bands in high school and then I really really got immersed into hip hop though in In College and shout out to Dj Contagious and Brett Star. You know to to the guys in our crew. Hate that these days that these day contagious. But the way. It's spelled C. O. N. T. E. J. Yeah do spell it out like fabulous does yes but But yeah I mean you know. We wound up like throwing a lot of parties in in in college. And at that point you know I. I was still a drummer I was. You know like Our Boy Brett used the freestyle. And like we'd put on shows and I would lay down beats and you know he would freestyle but then I really got into like the miracle aspect of it too. And he was my roommate so he would have these little ciphers going on and then we started like the. I like hip hop club on campus. And I remember Sook would always tell me you would. You would pick up like DJ so quickly because you're drummer and it's all about just like keeping time and keeping beat. I was like a day just Dj. I used to like hype for these parties. And you know this is just the MC and then. I kinda got to a crossroads before. So I did this combined medical program like it was like an eight year medical program so I was guaranteed a spot into medical school as long as I didn't grow up too bad in In undergrad I just had to maintain a GPA AT and have to take like Miam- cats or anything like that. So I had a guaranteed spot in medical school even though my heart was in music like I thought you know I wanted to be a rapper. Or like you know like The producers something like that even entertained Taking a year off. Yep Yup that actually happened and you know it was like a real crossroads because I I had potential opportunity to move down to Miami and really chase the dream of becoming an artist and this was like right when like my space was taken off and I. It was like before like you know. Youtube and social media really achieve critical mass. But I don't know I guess. Part of it was just like you know. I had these expectations from my family and it was. You know I grew up like not really having to to struggle shit like my parents gave me everything and I just had this guilt like you know that I wanted to be able to pay them back and and the only thing that they really wanted or that I could really give them because I can never repay them like financially Was to go down this path of medicine so you can imagine like you know medical school when I started it because like long story short. I just didn't go through with the dream of chasing music and I was just like all right. You know like I. I need to do this. This is kind of like an obligation and it was really really tough for me in medical school. I did not feel like I belong there at all. But that's really when you know music took on a different role in my life. It was like therapy for me for sure. And that's one night. I I wound up selling my drum said in medical school because I lived in an apartment like I had nowhere to practice and all the time and like I I sold my drum set and bought some twelve hundred with it and I was just like you know what maybe soap was right. Maybe maybe I can pick this up and I never thought that I would actually like DJ in front of people thought. This is just going to be a way that I would keep in touch with music and You know I bought the Surat and like all that stuff and and you know it started off as just like I I Would Dj like our formal Zen. You know are like annual like medical school like events and up in Rochester. It's not like you know being in New York City or like a big saturated city where everybody's a DJ. And it's so hard to get gigs. So like I was. Dj in bars. I you know I had a few gigs. And in a few clubs I was doing weddings like and that became my outlet to stay in touch with music. You know thought I like gave up on my dreams of You know becoming a a an artist. That's Kinda how I kept in touch with it. And that kind of continued on in residency. I would like J. ARE O. Ara Parties and you know like we were just talking about you know it'd be like the DJ the or kind of thing and then you know that that kind of all lent lend itself nicely into like the podcasting stuff that that I found myself doing to try to combine all of these different elements of my personality into into the medium of audio and I think it's just an amazing time that we're living in now that you can have like a bunch of these different interests like you know if you're like a lawyer that's really into poker you can have like a podcast about that or like a youtube series or whatever it is or if your doctor you know like loves hip hop in sports like you know you can just truly be yourself and put yourself out there so I'm excited. Yes that's a really good point I think even with you having your podcast in just kind of the the fact that you can be a doctor and you can still have personality right. Like I think that has kind of evolved I think the old school I'm sure this patients all the time. They think that your entire life is medicine. Twenty four seven. We have anything else that interests you and I think the key word that you just said is music was therapy for you. I mean I draw a lot of parallels like what you said. Experience was extremely similar to yours in Wareham music kind of fit into my life but I think the big part of this right so there's a few different layers to this type of almost cultural responsibility to your parents and then you also had a passion but you're also very bright and excelled it doing the type of academic work that's needed in order to be a doctor and you know you must have had some degree interest in order to pursue it to the level that you've been able to but I think the key point is that you can do more than one think it's okay to be interested in other stuff. It's okay to you know to like music to be a drummer to produce to you. Know take out your stress like working on twelve hundred turntables And I think that's a big part that the newer generation of Docs have come out are realizing that right that it's almost like a necessary component or to be like healthy practicing medicine. There's obviously discussion of like burnout. And that's big in the medical community right now but. These are kind of proactive things to help. Kind of balance those things out. And you know you've get to the level of functioning that you're at. I mean there had been other outlets to allow you to stay on this pathway and be focused and these type of releases and Type of Outlets that you had. I think it's really helpful for people to know that you know you can still kind of find a way to see where you fit in this entire space. I mean everyone nowadays is like zero one hundred on everything right and you know. I think people have multiple right and you had a different talent in interest that you wanted to pursue as well and I think that's great that you know doing the podcast in finding other forms of media to yourself as has been there for you hundred percent and and yeah I mean like before we started reporting I was saying you know you were alleged and I. I meant that man because like I I would hear stories about you like in in college and that gave me a lot of encouragement when I was kind of going through what I was going through like. You know having these two different diverging paths and like you know trying to figure out how to reconcile them and like seeing examples and now more than ever as people continue to put out their stories like. I think that that's really important to to be telling our stories and to be you know kind of pursuing all of these different aspects of personality for like you know that other kid that's growing up that you know they have to pursue like a certain thing and that knowing that there are there are ways to do both you know you can kind of have your cake and eat it too many mixed too..

"Nine charted the show where comedians discussed the top. I some movies of the week. It's the beginning of October. I'm your age, Michael, Cray. Howard Kremer and I'm here with Cav what's up Catholics up Howie and Sam on the ones in twos, everyone they Sam, hey, it's good to be here. Although I'm telling you, I have my my week is off to a rocky start. What happened. I get a call from my dad on a Monday. Turns out, I screwed something up financially. I used the wrong check for something and the check was from a close to count, and then it bounced snow. I gotta get a certified check. I gotta get a fax machine. I mean this this is like listening to speed metal when you're trying to go to sleep. This just fights every instinct I have, but especially on Monday which I guess other people get the hell to work on a Monday. But for me it was rocky. But I'm here. I'm glad to be here. It's good to see you. That's a stressful way to start the week for you. It is. I had some stress over the weekend to why. So I got a text from you. Oh, that's right. This is funny. So we cavalry discussed this at like, but it was funny. So I get a text from you and it says, hey, Todd glass, we should have him on the show who charted for sure which we've had a mommy for. He's great of course. But you said, you know he, he's doing a standup showing an alley now. So you guys will have something to talk about. Which was. I was like, I just I was like, what he's gotta show that alley. That's what that was high reaction. Okay. But you but you were seen as if I k it's a good thing. You guys will have something. You got something in common now. I was thinking more like you could call him out being like, what are you doing with the show in the text to and for any, right. You're right. It's just like, hey, Todd, has a show in an alley to you guys should you guys will be able to talk about? But anyway, so it was weird to me because nobody else has shown an alley. Yeah. So it'd be after all these years in comedy that someone just came up with an upstart, especially since Todd, just did squat melt two days prior. That's right. Okay. So for context, I saw a tweet that's up like wonder what Howard thinks about Todd doing a show in an alley, not knowing that it was, let's you didn't even tell me that in our phone call, I thought, okay, so way Lewis cut to the chase for the for the viewers that's the show they were talking about was squat melt. It was. It was just tired was appearing at squat. Melon at our guest today appeared at the same squat Mel. So anyway, that was the confusion. You read it as he started his own show? Yeah. It was just a squat milled appearance. But so then you send me in my opinion and equally absurd text I ided, which is what is your phone number. Texture. What your 'cause I cooked around. And the first thing I saw was that I- information question Mark thing like here I go to right now. I will like now I'm texting this guy now I need to go find out what his phone number is. So tells me audio fan, head audio info. But then I think audio is going to be where I tape one of those messages like a voicemail. Yeah, like I don't know the audio recording message Brody sends me though. Oh, man, he'll just, you should play those. I should, but it's always like before squad belt. I'm five minutes Howard. It's like he could totally just Texas, but see, you texted me asking what my phone number and that was dumb that was old guide dumped technological, you know, Dullard and then you silly guy, then you call me and say patching start right now because I wanted I wanted Brett star to hear about it all. And then we, we figured it out. We did. We got to the ball. Bottom of it. So, hey, there's no copycats show..

Do you think that's why Dianne Feinstein held onto this and did nothing with it whatsoever until it leaked, and then she was forced to to send this to the FBI? Do you think it was that it was a die fi ploy? Oh, it was leaked tell me you're smarter than that. Tell me. Okay. But you're not answering. My question just assume that I'm that. I'm not that. I'm just really dumb. Do you think that die fi? Did this intentionally? Yes. And you think she did it in order to delay that she was going to release it. But it was going to be at the last minute. Of course, she did. Okay. We've been saying. Any means necessary. Yeah. That's true. Well, that's true. They actually had a strategy session via telephone conference call where they did say that they needed to delay this. But a lot of the reasons that they have for delay are valid, and even if the Democrats were doing this intentionally releasing it at this point in time, doesn't this woman doesn't Dr Ford doesn't don't her allegations deserve to be brought into the light? And don't we need to determine what the truth is the this is brought up. This was brought up to the FBI. They said, nah, nothing here. No, no, no. That's not where that's not exactly what the FBI said. It's me. Check me. Go ahead. Okay. It's not what the F B I said was the they can't investigate it as a criminal matter. They can certainly do it as a as a background check matter, and he's been through five background six background checks. Right. But they conducted this. But any time there's an investigation that takes place, whether it's the FBI or your local police department, and they're detectives if after the investigation is closed if they have information that they did not know prior to the close of the investigation they can reopen the investigation it's the same with the background check. You can reopen background check. If new information comes to light that you were previously unaware of true. That's all I used to be in law enforcement. I know I know that. How being locked person? I know also that people lie to to push their agenda. I've seen it much more prevalent. Law enforcement. How many times did you see somebody beat a polygraph? I don't deal knows those those those fantasy those aren't so those are what makes it a fantasy. Have you ever tried have you ever tried to? That's nothing. No money. So no, no. No. No. No. No. No, no. Here's the thing. You can't make that kind of person. If you've never been through the process beating a polygraph. It has happened. It is rare. The reason that polygraphs are inadmissible in courtrooms is because they're a sometimes polygraphs had been have been administered by people who were not experts in this case the polygraph that was administered to Dr Ford was administered by a former FBI agent somebody who knew what he was doing. So let's have Bret Cavanaugh do the same thing if they're so damned easy to beat. Maybe he can beat it to eight ten is the telephone number eight oh eight oh, eight ten. Let's see. Let's go to Steve Steve is calling from Hayward. Steve. Hi, welcome to k- GO. That among my background has been in sales in corporations and one of the things I've had to do in my life. So I had to interview people and hire. And I'd like to tie this right back to Dr Ford's issue. But really take it down to the very basic point that she's making okay. She feels that this person is not. To the supreme court, right? Yes. There is a criminal matter matters. Well, but could basically is saying is he is not fit to be on the supreme court now so much of this is tied to the history of this man's cranky and in high school and other statements that he's made his friend is made and so forth. So I think really the question that the FBI needs to look at with an anything else. Yes. There's a matter that took place thirty five years ago. But at the same time, he cannot conditionally address the question of how can you not recall, some of the things you said about not working on these things to the White House and congress, right? You're either congress or the number. Yeah. Possibly memory gaps. Mr. cavenaugh, you have a drinking problem. Yeah. You know, I do think that right now what what Brett Cavanaugh has. I think is what he may have. And I think he does have is credibility problem. And it does go back to that question as well. The question of his drinking and his fitness for office. You're absolutely right about that. Eight hundred eighty eight ten is the telephone number eight hundred eight oh, eight ten what do you think can be done? What can be done that would convince you one way or another what the truth of the circumstances? Oh, by the way, this is not going to be investigated as a criminal matter. The statute of limitations has long passed for anything like that to happen. This is a matter of fitness for office fitness for the supreme court nomination. Eight hundred eighty eight ten is the telephone number. I'm Pat Thurston for Ethan Bearman cagey. Oh. Ethan.
