"Breadwinner will show new stock left at 99. Www bt I was just talking to Mr Hanlon. He's got knowledge. He was kicking knowledge. My way filling me with info. Lots of stuff out there. 70457 11. 10 Way. Go out. We got Brett Jensen right out of the box. We're going to dial him up here because Brett Jensen is is the subject of our special commentary up front. It's It's really quite something. So the news and Observer has got a piece that they are running Governor Cooper's Covad 19 press conferences often leave out conservative media. Absolutely insane. Absolutely. Ah, unacceptable. And Brett Jensen joins us now on the line breaking branches and good to have you here. Bread underscore Jensen on Twitter. You have been trying diligently for months to get a question and two governor Cooper and they hand select friendly media and television stations rather than talking to the blowtorch at W B T. Welcome to the program. How are we feeling about the vindication that it has been exposed? Finally, you know, it's funny. You know, I will say this that you know it was written about by a very small publication a few months ago, maybe three months ago because they were also being left out of Lee's called The North State Journal because we are the old North State and It was written about them because they're being left out in a couple of the places people. Media outlets have been left out as well. But But, you know is as glad as I am that there That they're finally making it out there in the quarter, quote mainstream media that it's out there and look, no one has ever confused The Raleigh News and Observer who was a sister with the Charlotte Observer, correct of being anything other than something that leans left, especially with its editorial board. Um, I mean, let's not forget that last year, The Charlotte Observer endorsed 11 of the 12 Democrats for our like every single Democrat, except for one on the county commission, So I mean, So I mean, that's that's fine. But I did take exception a little bit to the headline Conservative media. Well, People need to understand this when I was there, and I interviewed Yes. Once did Matt Hanlin Mike Schaeffer, right, or anyone else? Sit me down and say, How do you vote? What do you vote? Not wants is any more of my bosses said You need to approach a story this particular way. I mean, we've got independents, Democrats and Republicans at our station That's correct with the largest news station between Atlanta in Washington, D. C. And so it bothered me that they used the term conservative. How Joe, How about just like the biggest, most prominent news station in the Carolinas? How about that locked out? Absolutely locked out, profiled and locked out. We were And our How do we fix this? Who's the culprit? Who's the name? Whose the name that's blocking us whose name people way got? We're going. We're going to send a message from the listeners of this station that you take questions from Charlotte. And Charlotte radio. And you take him from W. B T because of who we are. Who is it? That's the sticky wicket. Well, you know, that's that's the million dollar question, so I don't know. And I have not yet been able to find out from talking to a lot of people, um, up in and around Raleigh and whether it's Governor Kuyper ordered this someone on his. You know, one of his, You know, Close people Order Chief of staff. Does this feel like a chief of Chief of Staff job, Right? Like exactly like a beauty who used to work at the shoulder, Huh? How the sister publication of the news or could this way if the's or if his people are doing it rogue and doing another moon, and I've even made the joke, Bret because I have all his PR staffs phone numbers on one of their phone numbers. I'd even joked there going well, since the state is not right for those phones. Yes, technically they're public record, and I could make their phone numbers published. Read this. Read one out right now we will everyone can call and say Talk to Brett Hashtag talked a breaded W B T. This is not acceptable. This is a free we are allegedly free state in a free nation. Journalism is important. The First Amendment rules the day Mandy. And and and Roy and and, of course, the the enforcer there, the guy who I've always been a great admirer of there, that the department of Public Safety guy, Mike, Mike, Mike, we admire you. I do believe you will be traded to South Carolina because you seem to have a real commitment on public safety, But we need we need. We need transparency, Bret Jansen. This is unacceptable. I'll give you 15 seconds to plead your case, and then I'm going to demand a phone. We want a phone number. I want a phone. You can just you can text it to me and I will put it on the Twitter. And I with the hashtag talk to Brecht, and it won't be May it'll be it'll be make them talk to you. Well, I will say this, so I've thought about reaching out to them to the I'm going to reach out to his staff and say, what's right. When will you finally take a phone call from me? Put them on a clock. Tell them asking question They've got to out. That's what I'm going to say. If you don't Then just so you know your publicly funded phones. Amen will be possibly displayed for hard listeners to call you and ask you why you're not looking are they can talk to us through you. Or they can talk to the listeners like we listen, I I believe in transparency. We are in Cove in time you look at you look at the governors of the neighbouring states as they point out in this piece. The governors of the neighbouring states. They're talking to the press. Even the hostile press. Say what you want about President Trump. Maybe you don't want to see him reelected. Not I'm not saying you because you're you're a fair minded man. You make your own decisions. But I'm saying he takes questions from crazy Jim Acosta and the wackos at NBC who clearly don't like him, But he takes their questions. What is Roy Cooper? Afraid of? Does he only want to talk to people in campaign ads? Is that the way the way he pretends like he's doing some kind of a P ece talking to a nurse, but it's really a campaign commercial. I've noticed that he does that a lot. Well, yeah, And the other thing is, is that a lot of these the problem or to problems Also with this the way it's doing is a that the lot Sometimes not all the way is not always. Sometimes they're very good pointed questions, but a lot of times of softball questions and at the other times with the follow ups, they don't say, which is what I have always done. What I asked you a question. I don't care if you're a football coach or a politician. If I asked you a question, and you give me a non answer answer. That's where I will immediately say That's great, But that's not what I asked you. As yes. That's right. When you have to be able to have a follow up question. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Look, I get it. I get it. I understand that that we have a governor in this state who does not want to answer tough questions on Cove it But since you're seeking reelection, you owe it to the people to answer the questions. There's nothing there's nothing on toward here or disrespectful, but I've worked with you for months and months, and I have never seen you unprofessional or disrespectful in any way, shape or form. You are a professional.

"It is. The breadwinner will show new stock left at 99 3 Wgt. Great to be here with you on a wonderful Tuesday on I'm so happy to welcome back to the shop break it. Breck Jennsen. Follow him on Twitter and Brett underscore Jensen. He's out there chasing down all the stories. Oh, did you see it overnight? Brett gents in the the City Council there in Fort Mill, ordering masks, masks masks. S O many masks. It's gonna look like a lucha libre. If wrestling match there in Fort Mila's The Fathers and the Mothers of the city come together and say we got a mandate Damascus starting on Wednesday. At midnight. Now we have Dr Mandy Cohen. Ah, answering Ah, questions about schools opening an education, and she puts out a tweet, saying everyone should be wearing a face covering in public period. That's it. That's the tweet. What's what's going on here? What's happening? Are we regressing? Is this phase one? Plus is this face too where we write now? My friend. You know what? I had a office desk. It was basically controlled chaos. I knew where everything was. But by looking at it from the outside, it was a disaster. And right now there is no controlled chaos is just straight chaos and everything is changing. This just happened. Seriously. I tweeted this out 30 30 seconds before I just joined you. Ah, Judge has just ruled in favor of all North Carolina bowling alleys that had sued the governor. Wow! And so all bowling alleys effective immediately. Not tomorrow, not Friday. Immediately are allowed to operate as long as they follow a set of guidelines. You know, if you're looking for a ball, let's say you know you're allowed to be 50% capacity and you're supposed to have your mass on and you know, eat in specific designated areas. Let's say you're looking for, you know a bowling ball to see if they fit your fingers. Once you touch a bowling ball that bowling balls gotta remove be removed even if you don't use it, so it could be sanitized by, you know a worker or whatever, but So that just happened seriously, just seconds ago, and I put that out there on 12. And And so, you know, Rocky was supposed to come out last night with the Police department was supposed to make a statement on how they were going to try and, um, you know, maintain law and order in terms of mandatory facemask, which is a disaster by the right Pills City Council because they passed the ordinance with no rules. I mean, and it's just like, okay, we're going to give you a cake, but there's no cake. We're just going to give you icing. But we're gonna call it cake, and that's what basically happened. I mean, so so now they're trying to figure out how they're going to be ordered to wear one and and if they don't what's going to happen? I mean, it's a You know, it's it's a disaster right now or I kill and I don't use that term Loosely. I mean, that's an apple po word just because they passed a law or, you know an ordinance without knowing what to do. And so there's no rules. And so now, So you've got all that going on. You've got the North Carolina state superintendent who earlier this this morning put a letter to Dr Mandy Cohen, saying your rules for opening schools are all over the place. And there's admiral yet of inconsistencies. And nothing is adequate and what we're supposed to do, because you keep contradicting yourself. So what do we do It? And so that was sent out to Dr Cohen this morning, So I mean, it is just it's just and now you like you said, you know, with four mil. I mean, it's just all over the place. What's Where's Governor Cooper? We haven't seen him in a couple days. You see, OK, we know he had a meeting with the state of Council this morning. The same one that his head by Lieutenant Governor Dan forced the that is suing the governor Cooper on his executive orders being illegal for not getting approval from the state of counsel and also the same state of Council, which voted to tow one against closing things down way back in March, So he had a meeting with them this morning at nine o'clock, but we have not heard Anything from Governor Cooper, other than him, basically, for lack of a term calling den forced a racist on Twitter today, Of course, that's the card. You have to play in the middle of a covert pandemic. Right? You have to throw the racism card out when people are trying to figure out if they can go toe work if they can go to school if the kids are going to be safe. You got you got Oh, my see, This is this is the problem with politicking. Okay, because we're now in a political climate and everything is going to become Touchstone, quick words and slogans and nobody's going to be happy as a result of I mean, It's the dichotomy of what we're seeing Brett Jensen and I'm going to take you over the over the state line into Georgia here for a quick second, Okay? Keisha Lance bottoms, The mayor of Atlanta has covert. So does her husband. Meanwhile, her city is in an absolute freefall in terms of instability and violence. Governor camp has declared a state of emergency sent 1000 National Guard troops to deploy to Atlanta. But you've got people playing like identity politics game while you're still in the midst of this pandemic issue. And the right hand. It's not talking The left hand help me out here with one final thought. Yeah, No, that's exactly right. And basically the whole thing with Governor Cooper's tents from that raceway, a speedway. You know where there were, You know some rebel flags and what not, and you know the owner made Some racist comments and and governor Cooper's saying Well since Danforth didn't denounce a speedway and the owner, he therefore must be a racist. A CZ Well, alright and they've put out an entire campaign. They actually launched a campaign about that today, like sent out emails and Twitter feeds in all things because Danforth hasn't denounced this one speedway. So far. It's just up in Alamance County. It is. Ah, you know again. That's why I started this. This whole thing with you. The very first time I used was chaos. Yeah, you're right. Listen, if you're going to go bowling, bring your own balls because you don't want to put your fingers in other people's balls there and you're going to get the contamination. That's a bad scene. You don't want that. Bring her own. Choose to. Okay. Bret Jansen. Yeah, I can't even remember the last time I went bowling, So, Yeah. Good luck, my friend. I appreciate you being out there, man. Appreciate you breaking bread. Jensen, Brett underscore Jensen. It's a fast moving day already. Let's head on over to Boomer von Kannon. Tell us if it's fast moving traffic, a slow moving traffic or stormy traffic. What's going on out there with crab Boat looking pretty good right now. Bread a good afternoon, who had incident earlier this afternoon in north around 77 at Sunset Road near Sunset. Exit 16. Looks like they had some damage in that area. "Yes okay I had yeah we are okay I'm gonna leave that what's happening now brite winter ball obviously is is Jensen is at an area where there are some pretty intense chance and confrontations going on and we just don't know when now we do we do know when and what happens is you have a delay system which allows us to not share those things but we have to make sure that we cut away when well at the right time or else will will love break the indecency rules so we don't want to do that but which one try to give you a flavour of the coverage here but we're talking a bright winter will that what what's happening elsewhere in the country in Charlotte it goes up and down I mean as Britain I've been talking to Brett Jensen and I've been talking it's it's interesting because you can go in ten minutes swings and that's not just with the intensity of the crowd it's the size of the crowd and you know uptown Charlotte has many twists and turns and so it it's interesting the crowd will dissipate and then meet back together and CMPD is doing its best to it had it all off and I I think by and large has done a very admirable job tonight under very tough circumstances without a doubt because let's let's be honest the folks who are working with CMPD have done a really good job in the intervening four years since twenty sixteen I think you do community outreach and I think there's a lot of currency there is a lot of good collateral that's built up and so I wonder how many of these analysts come cliche or sold to or from Charlotte how many companies down try to race out of a better word and that's an important point because by wiles it is if you pointed out earlier in the day in the evening yeah she they were very aggressive with putting out the of the emergency order trying to take over on the streets and obviously you can have a a stack of laws of mile high almost folks are gonna still break the laws and that's what it comes down to correct some about this article that's right viol owls talk to our marketers and earlier in the evening here on WBT do you have any concerns about.

"Okay so so really with what else within ten minutes ten minutes ago I was talking to you and you were talking about three hundred four hundred people yep so things have really taken a turn out like well because the cops in a really good job of separating the crowd some people started running a other people started running in the other direction so everyone just and sounds like we lost the feed from Brett Jensen again part of the a bright a by product of live radio covering an event like this red Jensen is in uptown Charlotte got you know and now I have again it's like a little commercial can you hear me now is probably a little dead spots a basically of with the server and the tear gas on the flights everyone just dispersed and ran into the myriad of directions it's a novel police officers every reconvene right here at the discovery place there all right at the border they're heading you know the just standing here all the bikes I mean every single officer has a bike right now the crowd is starting to get a little bit larger again getting a little bit the the officers look like they are intent in doing so all so now they're using their bicycles as shields and they're what they're holding the bicycles in front of as they walked and they're saying the move back move back into using the bicycles as the seals because they don't have you know the regular shields are right there on the on bicycles well and we remember we were because I still remember last night the the the issue with the bicycle over their own babies Ford road that was one bicycle in a moment where you have a look the number of bicycles now but and.

"Is number one in the final AP college basketball poll of the season the big twelve regular season champ for twenty eight and three when the season abruptly ended last week Gonzaga is second followed by Dayton Florida state and Baylor Duke finished eleventh in the final poll Louisville was fourteen Virginia finished at number sixteen I'm sure those land W. B. T. sport S. W. B. T. we lead local I Mike Doyle W. B. T. news Charlotte at six I'm mark garrison for a Wednesday with the top stories here on WBT of course will start this evening again with corona virus and we'll begin with the the latest number sixty six cases here in North Carolina now fourteen cases reported in Mecklenburg County those are the current numbers that we have also a couple of big closings to tell you about that go into effect in one hour you're shopping options are being greatly reduced Concord mills and South Park mall both closing as of seven o'clock tonight and they're not opening again until March twenty ninth because of the covert nineteen out right now this is day two of restaurants being shut down in the state the governor ordered restaurants and bars closed yesterday and starting at five yesterday afternoon only serving takeout but let's see where are Brett Jensen is live right now he found an active watering hole where people could still get served a drink right Brett yeah I mean right on south Boulevard mac's speed shop was out there and there are quite a few people sitting at picnic tables and when I went by there and you know the thing is they you know in terms of hate they are outside you know they're not they're a patio bar they're they're they're not inside and I called the state department of the health state department and they believe that is still under the written executive order that dad is for lack of a better term E. legal and they are checking in on that to further cooperate that but as of right now they believe that is the legal that there is not a loophole that allows restaurants to serve at tables outside on a patio or deck well I would think that's right if you read the executive order I mean it's in pretty plain English so yeah yeah I saw you sent us a picture from Max speed shop it'll go like there were eight people sitting at tables so did you break the bad news to them well I mean I was I did not I was picking up my dog right beside them at a at a local veterinarian but they but what I drove by there initially there were more than eighty people there but you know I've even seen some places are heard of some places saying Hey as long as we have ten or fewer we should be okay if for outside so again that's something that the state is legal team is looking into and told me they will be getting back to me as soon as they have an answer or send tension because the governor's order as you know it mentions nothing about the difference between inside and outside it just says shut down that's exactly right and they'll they'll just thinking also marked as they were saying ten people some restaurants with thinking that was okay with ten people because that's what Michael Burke county said even though initially the governor had said fifty people so it's you know it's it's it's a fluid situation but and people trying to see if they can get through this loophole yeah I think it's a loophole they created in the depths of their own mind because you're right I mean at first and the governors said okay no more than a hundred gather and then the Mecklenburg County comes along with different numbers but then the governor came out with a black and white order that said restaurants and bars shut down the only thing you can do is serve take out food so seems pretty open and shut don't you think I know I I tend to agree with you wholeheartedly and the state department the state health department also agrees with you on that any other spot should trying to pull the little outdoor trick that you're aware of other Max speed shop well and I know of a brewery that had a that had tried that or at least it initiated that they were going to say that I did not go by and check and see if they were serving but I'd call with that a brewery was also attempting to do the same thing but I do want to name the bridge just because I don't know if they actually did it can well it's interesting I saw lots of busy drive through today I was out working on the story and I went through the drive thru Bojangles in fact I'll tell you this this was so nice so I'm sitting in line at this Bojangles and I ordered a a biscuit and so when I get to the window to pay the young lady said you don't have to pay the woman in front of you decided to pay for yours I guess she saw a news card wanted to do a good deed or something else but I couldn't catch up to the woman to thank her but I thought that was that was very nice well it is very nice you know I'm coming home after I picked up my dog this afternoon from the vet I stopped at chick fillet because you know the drive thru was always crowded again know about my food so I don't know what happened yeah producer Jesse got a kick out of that well to that woman by the way if you're listening thank you very much but to the bigger point I saw a lot of busy drive through today I did too I did too and you know and now the the and I and I and I don't mean to put you out there mark but I knew that you also tipped the lady of virgin who do they try to rent it yes and that is now the common feed right now is that okay the people at McDonald's tipping the people of Burger King wherever it is that you go through drive through helping them out because they're out there dealing with the public just constantly driving by it having to do with money although I will say this the people at chick fillet taking the order outside on their iPads and also hating you the the food itself in the bags they're not inside the building right there outside the building as a go between they were all wearing gloves okay that is the new trend yep tipping the people who are bringing you your food either at fast food or restaurant and saloon like bread thank you so much and will I keep following this to see of mac's speed shops still keeps serving despite the governor's order thanks thanks mark all right that's a bright Jensen lives a Max speed shop trying to skirt the law by serving people drinks outside thinking that well if we have a small crowd outside we can get around the the governor's order but so far the state says that we don't think that's right but they're checking with their lawyers six eleven here on W. B. T. now one of the biggest bomb shells from the county health department came last night from give me Harris the health director she said she's thinking about and issuing an order to shelter in place that means in order that you're forced to stay home except for going to the grocery store the doctor we now have community spread in in Mecklenburg County and that changes our thinking in terms of what we're looking at with restrictions it depends on what we have going on here in Mecklenburg County if the state if we decide that the state is not moving as quickly as we feel like we need to hear then we will issue the order now we specifically asked the health department today okay what will determine if this shelter in place order to stay at home is going to be issued who would specifically be effected what are you thinking about well we got no response for all the talk about transparency from the health department we can't seem to get questions answered county commissioner Pat caught them tells me give me Harris can indeed take the action by the wake county commissioners are also the board of health here but they don't have any more detail either you know where every day we're all in it in a New World and it isn't that we have anybody who's been here before you know this is we're in unchartered territory so you know we just have to just keep trying to do the best we can I think it kind of caught everybody by surprise a little bit when the health director said last night you know we may have to shelter in place here in Charlotte even if the rest of the state doesn't that what did that take you by surprise I will it unfortunately it really didn't because I kept thinking that was around the corner and and because you know a more dense area but it's still it's scandal breathtaking when you hear something like that and you know we're putting things in place to you know try to deal with the problems that are around the corner so you know it it's that I do trust them what what what a shelter in place orders to your understanding look like would it be at every business has to shut down or or just certain businesses would have to close and some of us stay home to we know I don't know what that looks like I mean there's there's such a range of of businesses out there and you know I I think it I don't really know exactly what that looks like thank you for trying to flatten the curve so we don't have a big spike in people who get this virus and so I think that that that that that was it in my personal opinion is that was kind of a reaction it's like okay we asked you nicely then you're not doing it so now we're going to make it harder using maybe give me Harris was throwing this out there as again hoping that people would stay and more kind of a threat over our heads well you know I think it's it's I think people have to hear the message over and over again before they really C. we will have a problem and now people are our study appear tension so but we give the Harris saying you know we may be nearing the time for a shelter in place she didn't give you guys any further background information on what she was doing that would look like no we just heard what which you heard ten K. several that we were kind of the the Georgetown that kinda limited us in questions we can only you know ask a few questions so we really could we couldn't really answer on that but I would think you're going to be getting a lot of questions from people if they're ordered to stay at home with sure yeah I'm sure and we're getting a lot of questions about a lot of things and you know and that's going to continue yeah canning commissioner Pat Coughlin thank you so a lot of questions about what the health directors thinking about when she says she might order us to shelter in place stay at home we'll see six fifteen Charlotte it's it's got a lot of people not driving right now both they don't want to drive in Matthews hello all trouble yes.

"Host Brett Jensen filling in for Mark garrison. I'm sliding on the WBZ news room. He's at a cancer cluster meeting again tonight up there in the lake Norman area. And so I'm sure he'll have something very interesting tomorrow morning for both tops and as well as own show. So make sure you tune in for that. Okay. So as we know mother's day is on Sunday and photos closure. I screwed up as said all my gifts to my mom. A week arly because I thought mother's day was a week earlier. And I also was there like, oh, you're your things are here. Like when I realize I I didn't realize until like I've been contacted like thanks for the flowers and this for mosaic, and I want the whole thing was mother's day. And I'm like, well, wait a minute. Why am I not hearing this from anybody else? Like what why we're not seeing anything social media about it like what's going on. And then I mean, at least well I did a week early because I didn't want to risk things not getting delivered in time. Just. Okay. Great. So. Charles jacob. And I we talk about things and mother's day. So Charles, you wanna take your your mom to mother's day. You take your wife to his day. You wanna take your daughters from others day meal? It's may not be as easy as it seems. All right. So Mark every single week couple times a week sits in with Charles here. Charles Jacobs, and our resident food expert to talk about dirty restaurants. Well, I'm not adept enough to handle dirty restaurants without getting squeamish about it. So we'll just go talk to Charles about having restaurant reviews because both of us have a passion for food when he was recovering from shoulder surgery. I filled in for him for about a month on his Sunday show with was cooking. And so I love talking food and Charles does as well. So Charles welcome at doing this, even though marks not here. I'm happy to a good evening. Brett, we're going to do reviews. We're gonna talk about some restaurants. What he thinks got going on right now. What what's what's what's what's happening in the world of food for Charlotte? Well, we've got a lot of restaurants that have opened. Recently. And of course, we've got a holiday coming up on Sunday mother's day. And I was checking around and the city has grown faster than the number of restaurants have grown, and so I've made some calls, and for instance, if you would call from others day reservation say the palm you're going to get the answer that I got which is we are sold out. You know, what that doesn't surprise me in? I will say this real quick. Yes. That the same problem started happening about three or four years ago with thanksgiving. Yes. It five years ago. There were only like, you know, maybe a handful of restaurants in Charlotte that did thanksgiving meals other than hotels. Yeah. And it's become such a big thing. Now every single restaurants because you couldn't get a reservation. So now every restaurant's doing it serving thanksgiving food as opposed to mom or grandma sitting at home cooking, twelve pound Turkey. Exactly. And so Sunday being mother's day restaurants are. Are normally closed on Sunday, though, they're closed. I've checked those around, and they know they're normally closer than not going to be open many breakfast is an idea if you have not yet McVeigh's Ovation's plenty of places, in fact, famous toe story is one great a Cup -tunities, and they're all over the city, and they've done a very very good job of maintaining kissing consistently. Good quality. If you ask me, well, you know, and you're right. And I remember when they came around a long time ago, they I heard dealing or going to their places early on. Yes. When it was destroyed Catholic exactly I will say this also maybe recommendation, and I've done this. And I'm going to tell myself here. Okay. I sent my mom all her mother's day stuff. Yes. Last sunday. Because in my brain mother's day, was license everything Winker early. That's okay. You know? So but that being said, maybe take your mom out on a Saturday night for dinner. Yes. Or even Sunday night for dinner as opposed to lunch because lunch on mother's day and lunch on Easter Sunday. I think are the two hardest places to get reservation. Yeah. Charlotte put the B in front of it and call it brunch. I love your idea doing breakfast or brunch. Or or maybe doing it the night before sure with your wife or girlfriend or just union mom, and then or that night Sunday night, you go for those in south Charlotte, his one specific recommendation yet, you can't go wrong with in terms of I talking about cats deli cats deli is down in Cham field. It's the canfield corners. But it's where elm lane meets Bryant farms right down there, so Charlotte and this gentleman cats deli he'd opened on providence road, many years ago and closed and then just reopened about a year and a half ago, maybe two years now, but for breakfast, I'm telling you, the omelets are outstanding. And especially because this is a Jewish type coast type deli that is the best. He so he cooked his own corn beef. Oh, he could have Turkey breast. And so if you want an omelet with Nova and locks and onions you've. Can get it. I've had the with Kosheh salami, and it's out of this world. But it's great because you can get a beautiful three omelet with a nicely toasted bagel cream cheese. Any mix? Fantastic corn beef hash. See that's the. That's that's where you got me. I like corn beef have so much that I'm the guy that will buy the disgusting, Hormel. And just because I like corn beef even though it's not anywhere near like deli style. But it's at least edible, and I'm like, okay, I'll do this. But and I know we're in the south and I grew up in. Yeah. I moved here when I was five years old. So definitely knows. I've been to New York my family's from Newark. I've been there a million times, and we're not Jewish. But there is nothing like quality. When it comes to a New York Jewish del. You are right. It's not I agree. Same here from New England. And I'm so glad that they're open down. Here. You've got to check them out. I mean because Dave everything that you can find an invariable Jewish deli from whitefish platters to kickers skippered, salmon. I mean, you name it sturgeon pickled herring. But it's all really high quality fish salad. Always got that. You would love it cats deli canfield corners. And of course, he's got all kinds of regular fair lunches. But the corn beef the pastrami that Rubens all excellent. It's an all day menu opens I believe on Sunday at eight AM don't all Russian at once because it's not a big place. But I'm serious if you wanna take him out for breakfast and south Charlotte, just drive down a cat style. Absolutely fantastic. I I'm seriously. Glad you told me about that. Because I live in the south park. So sharda. Not that far. And I'm telling you there's Jewish deli. That's that's all in and they have a healthy health score ninety six point five. There you go. So we even gave you a hill score, even though marks absolutely kind of do that. Also, charles. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Very welcome. I'm telling you what I know. I'll say this. I know a lot of our listeners are from the south. They were born and raised in the south, and I get it. But I am telling you if you want fine quality delis, you cannot go wrong with New York Jewish silly, not everything there is of the Jewish ilk. You can get a lot of different types of food. It's until you equality deli is something that lacks severely in the south. Whether you want in a a pastrami on rye, or whatever it is just whatever it is just a tuna salad sandwich. Like instead of subway, get real quality, Dili's cats, dilly. According to Charles is the place the place to go, and it's down there in sell show just off of just below forty five like seriously, like maybe you have them off forty five so go check it out cats deli and again, make the reservations from others day. Good look in that. I let's head on over to the WVU traffic center with the man the myth the legend boomer von cannon. The first is brought to you by huntersville Ford, I seventy seven exit twenty three over. What's it looking like, they're at good news breath, hoping all the lanes now? Eighty five north at WT Harris had an issue there for like a couple of hours to this afternoon. But that's now being cleared from the interstate and traffic now getting back close to post his feet for eighty five north at Harris boulevard. Also incident for eighty five outer loop at exit sixty one Johnston road on Westbrook. Sure at Graham and southeast Charlotte. Alexander rooted highway, fifty one and south chart. Heavy delays outbound providence incident near Schmil right past Sharon lane. Very heavy traffic making all the way down to Fairview Sardis road at Randolph. Have collision railroad eastbound at providence and on Pineville Matthews wrote it arboretum view at bound Sharon road remains blocked the lane southbound closed between Fairview and Sharon view, due to utility repair. So go with. Colony wrote for parts out drive as an alternate and collision to the west on Sam Wilson road at I eighty five boomer voncannon W B T traffic charted at six coming up on six forty five. If you're buying or selling, a home, you know, you need a realtor who's willing to work for you there. Lot of them out there going. Hey, I'll buy your home. Don't even put it on the market..

"I'm Mark Thomas your host, and we continue once again this week with our look into what I'm calling the denying tobacco district nine for the US house was voted on last November seems like when we yesterday but the saga continues. Mark Harris, the sensible winter was not certified by the board of elections and somebody who's been covering this extensively since election night is our own Brett Jensen from WBZ news. Good morning Brett one welcome back once again on the d nine debacle. Thanks, mark. It's for people who haven't necessarily been following this. Give us a quick little timeline. Thumbnail sketches. The how this whole thing has played out. Out up until this week. If you could. Yeah. It's it it started on election night. Marquess won by nine hundred five votes in district nine out of basically two hundred eighty three thousand voters won by nine hundred five two days later, Dan McCreevy instead of asking for a recount conceited. And then about a week and a half after that a character by the name of Joshua, Malcolm out of Rogerson county who was on the state board who at the time was the vice chairman state election in any people should know, he's a hard core democrat. So we'll we'll we'll wait a minute. The we believe that there's a lot of bad things going on in blatant county with absentee ballots and his direct quote was I've known about this for years. It cannot stand any longer. And so the state board did not certify Marquez victory. Even though each individual county did the state did not and this launched this massive investigation. Into election fraud in bladen county, Rogerson counties and a tiny little bit into Columbus. Kelly. And then they had the end the state board dissolved because there was no longer ran out December thirty first a new board was appointed January thirty first, and then we had our hearings into election fraud, and whether or not there was widespread election fraud in bladen county, Rogerson counties and even a little bit into Columbus counties, and that led us into this week were Monday started the hearings into all of this potentially illegal activities with ballot the absentee ballot fraud, and what they were doing or accused of doing were getting people to going door to door getting people to request as in T balanced, people who generally did not vote, but we're registered which is a hundred percent legal. Everyone can do that anybody can do that. And they are getting them and throwing them out and then the absentee ballot request forms were being mailed or sent to these people. The illegal part came when the ballots would show back up at these people's houses. They would come back around the people who initially came by and asked them to talk these absentee ballot request forms which show back up. And in a lot of cases, many cases, would it help them fill it out. Tell them how to fill it out or taking blank ballots and said, how do you want me to vote for this? And also for you and taking blank ballots taking unsealed belts. That obviously is highly illegal. But moreover, they said the people would vote seal the envelopes, and then the people who were there to help them whereas system would then take the ballots. Well, that's also legal only the people who fill out the ballots are allowed to mail the ballots or drop them off at the board of a lot since. So by taking the ballots, and basically what they were doing was saying. Oh, okay. Well, let's look inside these. About all this is a Republican these people are democrat. Well, let's let's not necessarily turned that ballot in let's turned into the public about. Well, the problem was there. Also, people allegedly doing this on the democrat side the blatant improvement packed as well. So it was just a big mess from beginning to end and that led us to Monday the hearing, and I guess I want to kind of this. As though I'm you know, this is all new to me. Okay. I want I want to try to put aside preconceived notions that I've developed over the over the course of the past few months involving this particular issue backing up you talked about Joshua, Malcolm who's on the state board of elections. And what is what what is his was his title at that point? At that point. He was he's no longer on the state board of a leg. Right. That should be noted. But at that particular point he went from vice chairman to chairman because the chairman had to resign over being over saying all kinds of different things like supporting particular candidates and being out front vocal about it. And you you're not supposed to talk about politics. You're not supposed to be partisan in that position where you're supposed to be neutral. Right. But how long had he been had he been on the state board of elections. Well, at least since two thousand sixteen we do know that big okay publicans file something a challenge to illegal ballot again ballot activity as in T-ball activity going on in Boyd county, and they lack of a better term dismissed him said, well, we'll we'll we'll send it on down to the attorney general in case, there's a legal activities, but we're not going to do any state investigations. Unlike what they did this particular time led by Joshua, Malcolm. I guess the I guess that's the thing that initially strikes me is if Mr. Malcolm stating this has been going on for far too long, and it needs to be addressed. Why didn't he pick up this this particular cudgel if you will back in two thousand sixteen when he was on the board, and it came up at that time. Why didn't he press this issue and continue on if in fact, this has been going on he the inference I I'm making from his statement is twenty sixteen wasn't the first time either. This has been going on for years and years and years and from what? It's funny because on Monday afternoon, he was actually here at the board hearing in Mali and after the hearing I basically walked with him for three blocks chasing him down on not letting him get away and peppered him with questions for three and a half blocks all the way to the front door of his minivan. And, you know, asking the same questions like do you feel like you looking this earlier said anything earlier two years ago three years ago four years ago that we'd be sitting here today? But this election would have been on the up and up. Do you feel partly responsible for this? Do you feel like you should have said something or done more about it? And he just kept saying, well, you know, I I let my access to the state board speak. I can't come on this particular hearing because I'm involved in bub-bubba, blah. So it was but he said a lot of answers, but I made him speak all the way and say, yeah, no, I don't take responsibility for lack of from. Then I asked him about you know, is daughter who work. Worked for the state Democratic Party has been in his wife who made donations to Dan McCreevy in the state democrat party. So I feel like that was a conflict of interest considering you're on the state board of elections, and you were the vice chairman and chairman and his response was no comments about dot com. Okay. We're talking with Brett Jensen from WBZ news about the district nine race. And where it's been and where it is right now we're going to get to where it is right now. But some of the people that are involved one of the names. I don't think you mentioned too prominently crate Dallas has been basically at the he's been the epicenter of this particular flap, if you will his background, even though he was working for the Harris campaign in this particular case hired by an organization that was hired by Harris. This is where all gets very difficult to follow. Okay. Let me just do a little questionnaire. Had hired McRae. Dallas mccray. Dallas has been a mercenary employed in Kennedy. And it turns out that he was doing things I didn't know working with the democratic blatant improve impact he was working both sides of the aisle and unbeknownst to anybody. So anyways. She has been in charge of this absentee ballot project and blatant county for years the first four years. Six years. He worked on the democrat side. And then the last couple of years he's been working on the last few years. He's been working on the Republican side is a true mercenary. Whoever pays them the most. Well, marquess had hired and retained his services because he lost the election in twenty sixteen primaries to Robert pittenger due to absentee ballots in blatant county. And it was two hundred twenty one absentee ballots for the guy who finished third in the race to pittenger who had one absentee balloting bladen county and Martinez who had only four absentee ballot votes in bladen county during the primaries. So he's like, well, I don't know what this guy's doing. But hey, he's obviously doing something very successful. I want my side this time. And so he retained his services. Now, the consulting group that you're talking about Rick dome consulting Mark Harris hired red dome consulting. And read dome consulting, then took charge of all the volunteers in the end of independent contractors. That's where everyone was paid through red dome. But Mark Harris had already retained and hired the services of McRae. Dallas in bladen county before red dome actually came on board, but everyone was paid through red dome and then marquess reimbursed the red dome consulting group, but initially was there any money transferred from Harris to Dallas when he initially hired him. Yes. Over roughly about three thousand dollars to retain his services, and he wrote a out of his own personal check. Okay. And now the other interesting aspect of this that has come out in the past couple of weeks McCrea Dallas how much was he paid by red dome slash the Harris campaign for his services. In this last election cycle. Okay. So everyone keeps hearing the figure one hundred thirty thousand hundred thirty thousand mobile that's not accurate. Okay. That was total. And that includes one hundred thirty thousand monies that was going for his employees that includes rent for the office building. That includes the electricity Bill the internet Bill. The office supply the secretary Bill. It includes all of that McRae. Dallas was paid twelve hundred and fifty dollars or twelve hundred dollars a month. During the primaries as a salary twelve hundred dollars a month, and he was dealing with blatant county. Have Robinson county and a tiny portion of Columbus guy sixteen or twelve hundred dollars a month is not a lot for someone who's doing it three counties. That includes putting up signs in yards that includes holding functions and putting together dinners and benefits. I it was more than just doing absentee ballots. And then when he wanted to primary talking about marquess when it came time for the general election is a monthly fee went up for twelve hundred dollars a month to sixteen hundred dollars a month. So his monthly is monthly pay with sixteen hundred dollars a month..

"Said, I don't want the spotlight on me next year is in Chicago, I want this to be about how I can as an executive put on an event as opposed to be the centerpiece of an event, but that's just me. Speculating so Brett Jensen like you said you went to everything this weekend. You're you're highlight of the weekend. Oh, wow. I think the highlight of the weekend, you know. I mean, just from a fan standpoint was the was the Saturday night thing. I mean the Doug contest. You know was getting ripped for a long time, and it was boring and not innovative. But I thought the dunk contest. And then the three point contest is always exciting. You know, which it was Steph curry just came up a little bit short on, you know, the hometown came up just a little bit short and getting the crown so I I just Saturday night. So then you have all your big party Saturday night. I thought I thought Saturday was the best part. You know, I I know there was some issues last night with the light rail where it was raining as people were leaving and at various stops. They would make everyone get off the light rail, and they would do us a bomb sweep while these bomb sniffing dogs. And then people couldn't get back on the light rail time before it left for four pulled off. And so people were stuck waiting out in the rain. Even though they've already been on the light rail they were told to get off. And it was that was that was a bit of a problem last night at various places along the light rail way. But other than that. I thought everything went off without a hitch. Well, I can tell you're enroute route.

"Doyle in the news with boat. Dobbs. Brett Jensen has been looking at constitutional amendments, FOX reporter Granada sky traffic center, how good evening Mark journal. Coverage of the president make America great again rally. Always good to talk to Mark garrison. That's. Broadcast career Charlie they'd six with Mark garrison. Weeknights on news talk eleven ten ninety nine three WBZ PT. Three twenty in the afternoon here on this Martin Luther King day. Dave Thompson in today for John Hancock John returns tomorrow seven zero four five seven to eleven ten if you'd like to get in. I have a question that I at least I haven't seen it answered. I guess this is half rhetorical and half. If you have any insight on this. You let me know with all of the things that remain open with the federal government remain funded despite the partial government shutdown. How does the TSA not make the list of things keep going? I mean, I don't think it's a real stretch to say. Presumably that prevents dangerous bad things from happening on our airliners. And I am not questioning the professionalism of the people doing the job, but we are all human beings. And if some people aren't showing up, so they're a little bit understaffed, they're frustrated by the situation, which would all be morale can't be great. How can that be not viewed as sort of a central government service? I I don't understand that. I truly don't seven zero four five seven to eleven ten. I you know, I I don't have a lot to say about that other than it. Just doesn't make sense to me. And I have not taken the time because I'm not all that interested in it to go and find the list of things that are and are not funded during this partial government shutdown. But I would bet you that if I were to do that. And you know, maybe I will next time. I do a program if if we're still under a partial shutdown. I bet if I were to go look at that list. I could find you a number of things that I would go. I'm not sure that's as important or more important than the TSA. I just it just seems to me that would be one of those things. Not to mention the customer service aspect of it. Now. It doesn't seem as though things have become that bad. I have not flown since the partial government shutdown started. That is true I might have like one or couple of days after but but paychecks had still been going out. So it had the impact of it hasn't been felt yet. I most likely will be flying on Thursday. Daytrip? And so I guess I'll find out then. But my understanding is there have been isolated incidents where there have been some. You know, some TSA inspectors not showing up and caused some problems. But there hasn't been widespread problems. And you know what? That's to their credit working and not getting paid isn't fun. And you can't blame people for getting frustrated and upset by it. So you know, kudos to those folks who are actually doing their job. Despite the situation. Today, of course is Martin Luther King day. And this is a day when presumably we we celebrate the life of a guy who was I I don't think most people would argue with me if I said of Americans, the the foremost leader of the civil rights movement in you know, in the last century, I would think. And of course, he he was. Known by everybody. And and and people feel that you know, he was sort of the nonviolent sort of philosophical representation of the civil rights movement during the sixties, and when when things were particularly bleak here in this country in terms of race relations, especially here in the south. And we're supposed to kind of celebrate that day. So many times what it turns into. And we've had I can't remember when we got Martin Luther King day, but it has been a holiday now for a long time. We, of course, naturally fall into this debate about where are we now with race relations in comparison to where we would like to be and where we where are we in comparison to where Martin Luther King might have visualized us or wanted us to be these many years after his assassination, and like everything else in our society nowadays that has any political or cultural implications there just seems to be this incredible chasm and completely different viewpoints. And it was so perfectly summarized in a couple of headlines. I saw I went to a site where I am able to see a list of articles that discuss topics of the day, whatever they might be and first headline. I look at is. As MLK foresaw. US racism has been largely overcome by Jeff Jacoby. Racism in the US largely overcome next headline literally right underneath it. MLK would be outraged at how he backtracked. By Colbert king that that published in the Washington Post. So I guess the one thing that Martin Luther King did not accomplish was moving us toward any kind of a consensus on where we actually stand with with the racism issue here in America. I think it was something that's very easy for people to do is to over value. The experiences. That we are living through today and undervalue experiences of the past. And I think anybody who doesn't believe that we've made significant strides in this country in the area of race really needs to go back and look at what was going on in this country in the nineteen fifties. And then in opposition to the civil rights movement in the nineteen sixties and the horrible horrible.
