"With you just about an hour to go in the program, and we'll take calls the entire way, and it's worked out well, the night a lot of people have gotten their opinions in which is just the way we like it. The law's gotta update Top of the hour. We get back to the phones, though, right now and we go to Mike in Brooklyn. He's next on the fan. I'm Mike. Hey, Chris, the Yankees a pony, a met. And what? By that? What I mean is there playing guys like like Gardner and Hicks. Not because good ballplayers now because they're paying them money, The message would always do that. But the phrase that phrase Frazier and and the hard they're not making any money. You have options. We'll send them now. Domestic. This year's you know, with peach shirt who went on the only went to the resident finish second place in the science. That's what I mean by the math and figure the least. Fraser Nando and then Like the match play is public ALS tomorrow, the MPP. Yeah, I mean that Look, That's the fear. It's not so much that they'll be M v. P is it's just that the fan and You know, maybe look, Maybe the Yankees know what they have, or You can never know. But maybe they Are comfortable. With their knowledge of these Two players in particular, and you are and Frasier. But the fanbase isn't And the fan base. Once. They want. They want to know if they're missing something. They're afraid that they are See the thing about Brett Gardner and not his fault. It's his age. They know Brett Gardner. They appreciate Bret Carter. I don't think the people that want and you are and Ah! Fraser to play more. Are necessarily anti Brett Gardner. They're not trying to throw Brett Gardner under the bus. They're saying we get it. We know who it is. We've watched who it is. We understand who it is. Show me what else we got. What else you got? What else you got, So he is a known commodity. What they want is to feel like Frazier and and you are. Are known commodities and they don't feel that way. And that's I think that's what this Stems from That there are a lot of people that feel like I do Because of that. Let's go to Bob in Brooklyn. He's next up on the fence about it. Hey, Chris, How are you going? All good kid Putting what? Thanks. Yeah, you know, quot shows, but the Yankees are heard. You're only the Yankees are getting on my nerves a long time And I agree with you. I don't want to see God reflected in their pictures mean a radiant for years. They had one good year. A couple years ago, he had maybe 18 almost 75 or B eyes. I know you're good defensive field, but I'm tired of this fly with those two. Fanton void. And I hate to judge because I like the money and they get deploy. When I get playoffs. They played good pitching. Good teams. They're not gonna win like you. I really they've got to play. Find out what the Ways you can do. Ah, and a haw, Parkman. Even it's going forward. I mean, I don't know what you're a Yankee game, a big Yankee fan, but I mean, I know he had a home here. They would have, but I don't want to see him that much. I mean, it's like boom has attacked these vermin. Guys with loyalty is something I mean, maybe the guy before me. Correct. Maybe it's the contract some, but I didn't think it but I mean, they're going down that same picked like last year's. They're not. They're not going to make it when I get in the playoffs against the big teams, Even Tampa Tampa's got You see that relief pitchers they bring? I never heard these guys, but they look good. They were scary, but you're absolutely right about that. You're absolutely right about that. A lot of young guys that know baseball fans have really heard of especially year. We're baseball, like every other sport has taken a backseat to the pandemic, but they mowed the Yankees down today. I mean, they made the Yankees look bad today. Whether it's a player you like or a player you don't like They made them look bad. The thing that Concerns you, I think as you think back about In history is always handcuffs to some degree because you have a mindset about what a lineup should look like. But you know, we always wanted speed at the top contact hitter it to. Ah! A guy with some power and doubles ability of three your power of foreign five, you know, and then some on base percentage and, Ah, you know some guys with Average ability 678 and then try to get somebody at nine that could set the table for you to turn the corner and get back to the top of the line up. Now it's a different world. You know, you got the judge's batting second. It's just a different world now. But the Complimentary lineup. That's why LeMay was just so stink and valuable. Because there's so few guys like him. It's why The Daniel Murphy loss when it happened. Was exacerbated by the fact that they're just aren't very many Daniel Murphy's even with his defense of problems, and and the Controversy around him to some degree, they just weren't many and as averages have gone down in the shift has has changed the focus and the shift has Really? Ah. You know, change what looks like a base hit and now isn't one. It's heard a lot of players. Ah, it's just harder and harder to get complimentary lineups in there, you know, to get lineups that have flow, which is what we were used to. You know what we were used to is having a lineup with Flo. To it. You know that that have made sense. You know, And I mean Yankee fans old enough Think about how much sense and how I don't know how obvious it seemed Rivers. Randolph. Munson..
Philadelphia Phillies Return From Layoff With Loss To MLB-Best New York Yankees
"The Phillies 62 there in the seventh and just got back under way after a rain delay. But by that time, Brett Gardner, Geo or Shelagh and D. J. Lo Matthew. They all hit homers while starting pitcher Gerrit Cole gave up one run on five hits. A tropical storm. Is Willis a hurricane at this point, a little stronger. It s a yes is why Tuesday's game has been rescheduled as part of a double hitter Wednesday down in Philadelphia, where they had been scheduled to play single games Wednesday and Thursday, anyway. Or the

"Go with him. But, boy, if you're picking gardener, that is an indictment of talk Hman. That is an indictment of Frasier. And that is an indictment of Andrew are that they're not the players. We thought they were. Joe in Massapequa up next on the fan. I Joe. How you Jack was very frustrating. I mean, it was almost like we had CC when CC gave you those five inch. Take him out. You happy he gave you Give a one run had four K's three walks. Take him out exactly Especially when you're Bill. Right, Joe, especially when you're built with a bull pen. That's what you're proud ofthe. Yeah, like I'm a Yankee fan. I'm a baseball fan. I coached. You have nine out. Left. If they take Pakistan six. How do I get those nine hours? Match with your bullpen. Absolutely. Absolutely. Sickness. Will Gardner. I agree with you. It's gotta be the everyday left fielder from now on. I think I don't know. I don't understand why it's a hard decision. Outside of the intangibles, and I give because of their record, and because of their success, I give Brian Cashman the benefit of the doubt. I give Aaron Boone the benefit of the doubt. But it's becoming more and more of a struggle to do that, when the production isn't there. He's not making them better. Offensively. They were brutal offensively today they were brutal offensively Monday Friday night. Against a group of pitchers like a big group of guys. And nobody could solve anything at one hit. After the fifth inning today. So Yeah. There's a lot to dislike about. How they're going about their business and and I'll be fair is I talked about earlier. You give me average Torres average Sanchez. And there 12 and four, instead attended six. And we're not talking about it this way. But we still we still I think we still want to see And you are and Fraser at the big League level. Maur, often to make the kind of judgments we want to make about the future of the Yankees. And the future of those two players as Yankees And I don't think you can make that decision fairly. Unless they play. And in order for them to play. Brett Gardner can't play. And really, that's what it comes down to 2 May Staten Island. Tony is next on the fan. Hi, Tony. How are you? How are you? To your point about the Yankees don't need to win when the games you know, there's a lot of teams that can make the playoffs. I think Herman Edwards would be very upset with you. But I was Hermann coached the way he talked. Because if you remember that Ravens game when they were going to go to overtime, and he decided not to do it was not playing the winning game. Hey, didn't hear later when he talked to win the game. He didn't play to win the game. You didn't tell time too Well. No, no, no, he was not not good with the clock. So we're talking baseball and look and I was going to get a chance to play. Obviously standing. You know when you have to get better, Chris next year, Okay? That's my feeling on on Stanton right now, so I think, and I was going to get to spot the place. Look to your point, you know, shuffling guys around Chad Curtis regular day Shane Spencer. You throwing out names before? You know, Chris? I mean, look, lefties and righties. Unfortunately, Talkinto Lefty, God is a leftie, You know, you know, it really hurts that Andy Torres. You know, I think what hurts Horns is slipping. My feeling is the position move. And I think just to spend a few extra dollars for the left handed batter. The mojo that GT provided he would've stayed, you know, and you would have a left handed bat. You had kept him in a second. You would have that stability that could be affecting him. Christian Hey, I don't think that's what I do not think that's a bad theory at all. Tony. I don't think it's a bad there it all And you have the picture spots. Obviously. And they thought they could make do With what they had, and maybe they can. You know, this is not let's bury the Yankees. They lost three out of four in in Tampa. This is Maura about philosophy that we're talking about and long term because let's face it. We? We Are really interested in How healthy and productive they are at the end of September, not at the beginning or middle of August. You know, we watch and were entertained by it. But this Show. Like many shows. Will be determined by its ending. How did you like the movie? Awesome ending? Well, then you don't really remember. You know all that happened before that you walk out of the theater and you say, Man, What a great I didn't see that coming. What a great ending to that movie. So if they're able to manufacture a great ending to the movie, no one's going to care about what happens in August, so I don't want to give you the impression that I think you know they're in huge trouble or You know that that this portends what this team will look like. With Chapman and Britain and everybody you know, hopefully at or near their best in October. I'm not trying to sign signal some sort of Siren here, like, Look out. They're not who you thought they were. I'm sure Torres will be better. I'm sure Sanchez will be at least somewhat better so I'm not. Ah! Afraid for them, But I am Anxious to use this season. Port evaluating the three players. We've talked about the motives which are talk man, and you are and Frasier and getting a read on them as best I can tow have a solid field and then, like all general managers live with your decision. You know it's blank or get off the pot. We've talked about it many times before, but at some point you gotta pull the trigger. No, We don't want to lose him. He's pretty good. Oh, we don't lose him. He's pretty good. Oh, we don't want to lose him Get hot. Oh, Gary Sanchez. He can carry a team for two weeks. That's great. Make some decisions. Because right now.

"And I could have just come out. We will trade him. Of course, everybody's available until they say the trade is not going to be made. Look, I appreciate the phone call. We're up against the top of the hour. All I'll say is this I I don't know. What do you gain? Ah, if you're the Yankees in a in a 60 game season like this playing gardener over Frazier or and you are I don't know You don't need to win the regular season games anyway. So I don't know what the upside is at this point, and I know there's something to be said for camaraderie and playing the game the right way. And a lot of the intangibles that Brett Gardner brings. And as I say. I'm not anti Brett Gardner as a person or as a Yankee over the years. I am respectful of everything he's brought in the class that he shows on proud. He's a Yankee is a Yankee fan. But It's over. I mean, it's over. When you have players like that, and you need to answer questions about them. Hawkman and OIR and Frasier. You can't answer those questions without playing them at the major league level, so Playing gardener to make makes absolutely no sense anymore. It makes no sense. I wouldn't I wouldn't play him another at bat if there were made. But That's Morva because of what I want to see out of the other three than it is a great big indictment of gardener and he stinks. Not trying to say that trying to say I want to see the other players top of the hour. We need an update. We've got Cee Lo. Let's go. It's a hard bowling hoops doubleheader today on the fans coming up.

"Outage. Nothing. They're always there. Live in studio get along so well. They do wear masks because their covert Nowhere. But you know you gotta come credit. Let's get back to the phone. Showy. Allen is in Queens and Alan is on the fan. What's going on, Alan? Hold on Alan doing and just like not lifting packs, and I just had this like lifting Cole was one out to go to qualify for victory and a two and lead Yeah, I get it. I do get it. But what? I don't want them. I really don't want like Derek Cole is not Ah, Gerrit Cole is not fragile. He knows he's really good. Right, so so you don't have to prove anything to him, and I don't think he needs the win, and I don't want my guy managing for the for the player over the team, but I don't want I don't want a fragile guy like Paxton put in a position where he might doubt himself. I don't think cold getting pulled doubts himself at all. I think he's still The same as he ever was, and thinks that you know that Boone was trying to win the game and did what he thought was best packs, Then, on the other hand, needed to leave at 33 nothing or 32 at the worst Toby in a position to win the game and let the chips fall where they may. I agree. Yeah, Thanks, Alan. I appreciate checking in. Let's goto West board. Kris is next and he joins us on the fan. I Chris, I could. How you doing? Good. What's up? Good Look, we talked about this over the weekend, and I called you before the Yankees signed their call and One of the things that we touched down with a salary cap, and I gotta ask you. Do you think that Brian Cashman I know they're scouted and drafted well, new sense of Brian task, But honestly, it's still the GM of the Yankees if there's a salary cap in baseball I can't answer that. I don't know. I I know this. You you and I felt the same way about Joe Girardi. I don't underestimate smart, and in my estimation, he's smart and smart people. Can change and adapt, and they're not afraid. And they understand the challenge, and they embraced the challenge. And to me, Brian Cashman does all of that. So my bet would be on him. Not against him. Yeah. I mean, my my the reason that that that That question. The catalyst for that question is you got to tip your cap to Tampa bed, and you really gotta wonder what the small and mark it seems that there was a salary cap. What baseball these so much more enjoyable if there was a name in the general manager's Apartment. All 30 general managers in on the same players wouldn't be so interested in the winter instead of this ridiculous Glock moon of likely talked over the window, and I mean, you know, we talked about Derek. Call the 320 million. How fair is that? Tampa No in your no. Your outlook from a fan's standpoint, especially nationally. Chris's You know, we're spoiled here but nationally The cap is a win for the fans. Look at the NFL. I mean, the cap is a win for the fans. It keeps him on a level of capital floor. Is is a watchdog for parody. It allows bad teams to get better. And It puts pressure on good teams to stay good, because they have to make their bets on players that look, I mean, how did the Jamal Adams thing happened? You know, because they and why are people already afraid of sake? Juan Barclay situation. Because they don't know how much that position is worth in the scheme of a salary cap. So you'd be in the same situation here with starting pitching less valuable now because of the fewer number of innings that they pitch. You know what would you pay for players if you add a cap? And you We're forced to field you know, a 25 man deep roster. And these days all 25 men play or 26 men or whatever it ends up being so It would be a much better product from a fan standpoint nationally. Tohave the cap. There would be fan friendly. As it is in the NFL looking at work in the NFL, but the NFL shares revenue. Thie NFL's, You know, very happy and welcoming of. Ah, Six and 10 team going 10 and six and being a playoff team the next year. You know, that's the equivalent of a team going 6100 And then the next year, going 161 100 win 60 horses. You know, it's it's crazy how the NFL works in that regard, but it is a very popular league and it is a lead that really does spawn. Ah lot of hope. In the Preseason. Because it has eight divisions. Eight first place teams. That means an eight second place teams. That means and that's half your half your league. 16 out of the 32 teams. In the NFL will finished in first or second. Pretty good makes makes you pretty optimistic. When things start, especially if you feel like a couple of bad teams in your division, or at least one You know, I mean, if there's one really bad team and you have to finish first or second now, you only got to climb over one team. The third place team to get into second and move them into third. So it feels doable. So from a fan's standpoint, they love it. Let's go to Robby and Lenox, Mass. He's up next on the fan. Hi, Robby. Chris is always a pleasure to speak with you. I just got home for a long day. And I said, Oh, my God. More is on the radio Got rangers, right. So about the Yankees. All right. Have you ever seen a team with this much talent, lose more one run ball games in your whole life. One of things. I heard somebody talk about Brett Gardner. You know me. I'm not a big fan of gardener and evil. I mean, given everything he's got to the Yankees, but one of things last year that really bothered me about Brett Gardner was my final stroll with them. Go back to Game six last year of the A. L. C s he up with one out in the ninth inning and all furies long. He was terrible. I mean, it was awful wasn't like under 200. I think somewhere like that. And every time a ship on the same thing with six they why can't he just bumped the damn ball up the line and get on film? A. Of course when they with someone, but picks to me and guard are so overrated fixes the most here. He's my problem. Chris. Have you batted Guy? Third in the line of hitting 1 88 and Tropper Stella was eating £300 of seventh. Okay, explain that to the S S. Boone..

"Baseball team and for the Yankees. To me, the pillars are Sanchez. Poor EZ. LeMay, you Ah! I hate to say Hicks at this point, but I think that they're invested in Hicks and I think they want Hicks to succeed and think that he's still Can and will, so I'll put Hicks in there. And clearly you don't want her shell on not playing. And then it becomes a little you know, then it becomes a little more. You can argue about the talk Mons. You can argue about the gardeners. The Frazier's Ah! The very slow start by Miguel and you are but Don't you want to and you are playing Don't you want Frazier playing? Are you really afraid you're not going to make the postseason if you play Fraser and and you are And don't play Gardner and whoever Hicks. Sometimes I mean, come on. Come on, so I would love to see more of Clint Frazier, because I don't think there's a better time to evaluate him than here. Put him out there. Dad let and do our work through his crap. One of the one of real negative things is going on right now is because off the Slumps or the poor play or the poor offensive play in particular. Of Sanchez and Torres. They have less room for error. Like if if Sanchez and tours were doing what they're supposed to do, right? Just having average seasons. Not great ones, just average season if Sanchez and tours were having average seasons offensively. Then you could afford. They'll have Andrew Harvey three for 28. And lived through it. Have Clint Frazier go to for 23 lived through it. It would be okay. You'd be like, okay, That's fine. We could survive with that. But if you're going to Risk and you are and Frasier at this point With Torres and Sanchez in such slumps. Well, now you've become a really poor offensive. Team if those guys don't perform, so now you're putting a lot of pressure on them to carry you instead of tourism, such as you're asking, you know, Talk woman, and you are Clint Frazier. Other players to step up and carry you and that's a lot to ask. It's a lot to ask, so it's an interesting dynamic right now. It really is, but I would think personally. That at a time we're finishing first is not that big a deal where you're almost assured of being a playoff team. It's only a disaster. If you're not one, and you know if you if you were not a playoff team this year, you got bigger problems than you thought. I mean, let's face it. If you're the Yankees, and you can't make the play offs, then you've got a lot bigger problems than you thought. A lot bigger problems in Sanchez and Torres so assuming that they're going to make the postseason, which I think it's fair to assume Then then what do you want out of this season? What do you want out of this 60 game season? If you believe you are 99% of playoff team. What do you want? What are you trying to do? What are you trying to accomplish? And given the number of players that they have With potential and have had flashes of brilliance of the at the major league level. They got to answer those questions. And that's why I'm I'm Anti Brett Gardner. Love the player don't want to see him anymore. Simple is that Would would be in favor of a Brett Gardner Day spent a very good Yankee. And he's had streaks of brilliance. We know that But I'm with a caller. I think the time has come. Time to change Jo in Connecticut up next on The fan. What's going on? Jo? Hi, Chris Christie. I'm a Yankee fan. I got a few points. One involved in the playoffs in the schedule. One involved very Sanchez. First of all, I keep hearing that You know the Yankees that should be one of a team to make the playoffs. But But isn't it really one of four teams? Actually, because to debate you know, the two other divisions automatically get to win. Yeah, but then you take out after teams So all right, four out of the group or a right one out of four. Okay, but but I'm thinking. You know why? Why not push it? Finishing first is a big deal. Why doesn't gain us home field advantage? Yes. So the 2nd 3rd and fourth. Okay. All right. But how about establishing some kind of Attitude of where the best let's dominate. Let's win. It's on ly a 60 game season. Yeah, I don't think that's valuable now. You could all right. That's a matter of opinion. I don't think that means anything when you start zero and zero in the postseason, thatyou went 48 12 in the 1st 60 You You sound like you do think that you think that if you establish dominance That you're more likely to hold it in the post season. But to me two out of three is not how baseball should be played and I will be. I think there will be major upsets in that two out of three round Siri's, regardless of who finishes where I think there will be major upsets there. That? Well, I mean, that's part of what my concern again being a Yankee pen. I've seen them get to the playoffs and then our bath get cold. We don't erect green, correct and, if weaken, just established an attitude of where the best and we're just going to roll right through the play offs, just like that, added Who? OK, That's where That's their, you know, given guys days off..

Yanks break out fog machine, strobe after big win
"So I watched the Yankee game. And then I hear that after the game after the Brett Gardner home. Run the Yankees fired up fog machines. Yeah. We got new celebrations now for big wins and Strobe lights, right? I never thought. I'd see that with the Yankees giver been in a situation with a Strobe way. I've been in a dance dance hall before she calls. Yes. We had the tenth anniversary celebration they were Strobe lights you dancing to Strobe lights and fog machine. We were. I think you're still there at that point before you left five minutes in we had our own section. Remember, okay. Yeah. But there were Strobe lights fog, they say that a player evidently brings the fog machine with well. I guess it's at game was Yankee Stadium. So the fog wishing is in Yankee Stadium somewhere right DJ, LeMay Mayhew had one in his trunk his name DJ, Jerry, Brad or go. In maybe Aaron judge is a fog wishing guy. He could be Aaron judge could be what do you think about bone boon? Not a fog McCain guy. No. Or a Strobe light. What stanton? He seems to see I think stands for Miami. I think he Strobe lights and the fog perhaps Jerry one of those guys, no doubt. No doubt, we named the fog machine guy here. Who's that? I'm saying of -mongst the names we've already. No, no, we've already mentioned the fog, which it's possible. I know it is Clint Frazier. That's a party that is a party got.

"I think he gets moved. I don't think he's part of the next grade Marlins team. And no matter whether you do it by opiates or by war he has literally gotten better every single season. He's played a major league baseball since two thousand fourteen feel like that's it is good. I think that's the way you want to trend. I understand numbers correctly. Yes. Yankees agree to a one year deal with Brett Gardner. What we're our reactions somewhat surprised. Hubs was babbling about how this was it for Gardner how they weren't going to bring him back. And he also said something outrageous, like if the Yankees didn't bring him back that he just would've flat out retired because he only wants to play for the Yankees there. There's no fucking chance at that would have Hobbs. I don't know. I think that you ought to poison the kid's brain, and he just been spewing out garbage ever since he doesn't. I don't even think he knows planet. He's on any more. It's it's such a it's yes, this makes sense. Yeah. This is this is Brett garner entering that phase of his career where you take the team friendly deal. You take a knock you take a little bit of a haircut to be a part of something he understands that. That's who he is. As a player. He is. He's more of a guy who will be a part of something moving forward. Then be an integral part of if that makes sense. He is a run player movie. Foreign he's a lefty at bat off the bench a platoon guide moving forward. And when you're in the situation, you're in New York. Work, and it's home your competitive. You understand who you are as a player today? You understand the need? You have a great idea of how you fit in this works out for everybody. You know who else do that though? Oh who see see of bath Lia, you'd have gonna do this same fucking thing? I can see in all ready. And it's not really I mean that's not like a bold take as not like. Oh, wow. I didn't see that one coming, but I can easily see see see going the same route as Gardner and being like, hey, I recognize that I'm not the fixture here that I once was but I can see what we're building. I can see what we're working towards and I want to be a part of it when we finally get there. I I absolutely love Brett Gardner as a fourth outfielder like bench type bat like I still think he is very useful in that role. Even in down season. He was still like an average issue player. And I just I think this makes all the all the sense in the world giving his on base skills. You know, his his still competent defense. The one thing that is a little disconcerting from June on last year to twenty six three hundred three sixty three. Was his slash line. So you know, I I do think I'll say this about Brett Gardner. I would not be surprised if this was his last year like this upcoming twenty nine thousand nine hundred and that has nothing to do with hubs as dumb theory about only playing for the Yankees. But I do think read Gardner skills are probably one where when the end comes. It's it's going to come and it's going to be pretty obvious. And if last season twenty teen was the beginning of that. I don't mind bringing them back for one more. But I, but I don't think Reggie order is is long for major league baseball. Well, Toronto is you know, what we just witnessed? We just witnessed J. Hey, take Brett Gardner out. Back time to the fucking tree and open up a full auto clip, Dan poor Brett Gardner's Mayes tale. I didn't realize that. Hey, yeah. That's unfortunate. I thought he was on the lower end of of thirties thought it was like thirty two thirty three. But he's thirty. Five. Yeah. I I, you know, fear the Yankees. It's a no brainer. You gotta go loyal to the team. Loyalty organization. He's you're going to you know, what his value is. Does it crou-? Yeah. Doesn't was above replacement favor Gardner too. "Buddy. Steven bayside. What's up? Steve. Our you could good what's going on guys. Steve. You know, I have to think that with the the Yankees bringing back Brett Gardner. I think a lot of outfielders. Now, you don't see them going after Bryce Harper. I mean, I think it's kind of like it kind of precludes them going after Bryce Harper is given the logjam is absolutely think though that if they went after Bryce Harper the view him as a guy to transition first base more than even just playing the outfield. I never I never see where the Yankees were being hit by the position that guy plays. If there's a big free agent, they want I don't see that. Well, I mean, that's but you're gonna give an eight ten year contract to a guy who's never played a position before. What if he's terrible? Well, I think that there's two things here. I think number one like Joe said you can play him in a position for now. And maybe end up in the outfield, depending on what the way the roster looks the year after now because Erin Hayes is a free agent at the end of next year. I don't know if the Yankees are gonna lock baronets. I'm not sure Brett Gardner, I still view as a fourth outfielder. I think the Yankees are smart. They recycle. Definitely. Yeah. No, no, actually Brett Gardner, the problem with breath. Garner's you look at his first and second half stats. He was just playing too much. They kinda ran him into the ground because they have to play because of injury because the judge injury they had to run them out there. He's either fourth outfielder. Definitely, okay. But you don't view when you look at the Yankee first base situation right now, barring moves, it's Luke Voight and Greg bird, right? You don't view an acquisition of Harper. If they did it as he's probably gonna come here. And learn first base, you'll view it that way. No, no. I I really I can't see the Yankees doing something that out of the box. I mean, they're too conservative with. Goldschmidt. I could see that. Well, sure, but they moved era to third base now is moving from short to third more extreme moving from the outfield to first base. But that's what they did. Rod. They moved into third base. Yeah. I don't see where that stops them at all. I don't Carlos in Brooklyn Carlos. How are you? Carlos. Before I start. How're you doing Yankee fans number four photographs shops? Guess what it's doing? In the last fourteen years. I think they got about four or five before that. Yes. Yeah. You know, I'm not going with the nineteen eighteen I'm going on to understand the Yankees guy too. And Red Sox full. Okay. How I feel about the Yankees Joe. I'm going to try this too since two thousand ten the Mets have won more tenants than the Yankees. Go. See we both got again. I think the expectation maybe not as high as where the jets are going to be next year. But I think we're going to view the Knicks, and what they need to do very different than what this year is. Because what this here is is a tank this year. Definitely you want to see what you got with these young guys. But at the end of the day, it's really about the tank, it's an acceptable tank. Yes. "Talk to Denver or to L A or something like that or to Oakland. But what ends up happening is. I think the pressure in their head do the, you know the cabin pressure. And the they have problems with their ears and stuff that they they got dizzy. Worst feeling almost there's almost like a concussion symptom. You know, what I mean like there was something going on upstairs, and they were very unstable. So they couldn't play because they felt this weird dizziness, and it would it would come and go, and I can understand why Jon Gruden is saying that, you know, I thought that was kind of interesting. Yeah. I mean vertigo has nothing to mess with coach like he needs to coach. If he's sitting there being dizzy the entire gets about it. If he gets gets hit with it. And who knows you'll know when when obviously they land, I don't know. I think they're probably going today. I think the raiders are to London which is. You got the raiders was raiders and Seahawks. Right. Yeah. Just send the two teams that are about as far away as possible to London doesn't make any sense. I know and well one of them playable the Seahawks deputy played last week. Right. And then the raiders no-no both played. Yes. Neither one of them had a by a by afterwards is crazy. So you know, who knows I mean, and that is a obviously a long flight from the west coast. Yeah. Those guys go to be on the plane for what eleven hours at least. I think. Yeah. I mean, so I can understand why John is worried about that. I don't know if they would come to New York and land and get off the plane and walk around or something maybe relieve any of that pressure. But it's weird. It's a weird deal. You know, and it's it's frustrating because people can't understand it and anybody who has suffered from vertigo or anything like that or has about of it. It's like a migraine headache. You know, you totally can see a person with rain headache, just go into a dark room and just put like a cold cloth in her head and just try to fight through it. It's not easy. And I've had we've I've had players have had migraines. I've had players at dealt with. Vertigo I've had all sorts of stuff like that. So this is not like a surprising story to me. Yeah. Well, I'm glad that they ended with vertigo discussion as opposed to a sex robot discuss normally do because I don't know if I could open the show with that one. Right. So I I let's go let's just pick up some of the pieces for the keys right now. Okay. And just figure out what the world Brian Cashman's going to do here. I I've often told you that I want my general manager. And I think my general manager for the New York Rangers is in the middle of doing this right to be a being a ruthless guy. Trying to figure out how to make the team younger had to make the team faster, and how to get the players in here that are going to fit the brand of baseball that you wanna play now in order to do that. That means you're going to probably have to cut bait with a few of the guys that, you know, obviously have meant a lot to the fan to the franchise the fan base and everything else, but you've got to be realistic about what is going on here. And that's why guys like Tabatha and and Brett Gardner as good as they have been as great Yankees as they have been. You know, you start looking at the youth and the and the infusion of you that the Yankees have had whether it be Gary Sanchez, Severino judge and do heart Torres boy. Now, you know, this is where you want to continue to go. And maybe you find a piece when it comes to your pitching staff because that's where it needs to be fixed. I you got to believe that tour is an end to are going to be better. You gotta you gotta believe that, you know, hopefully, Sancha Stanton's gonna come back. He's going to be better that Sanchez is going to have a better year than he had this past year. You know, baseball players go up and down. We all know that we've seen it a million times. But this is not the time now to get sentimental about your team. And the history of your team now is the time to start making some real decisions and getting some, you know, giving some other players now opportunities like say, a Clint Frazier, for instance. Yeah, I don't know what's going on with him. I don't know about his concussion situation white whereas scenarios, but this is this is the perfect time for a guy like that. The to become a part of this team, or at least given an opportunity while the perfect time was actually this year. What are these hurt ended up being heard which was unfortunate for him with the concussion? He's had several of those you wonder if that's gonna linger through career now. But I think moving on from Sebastian Brett Gardner is going to be very easy for the Yankees with the disappointing finish that they had. And and I think that everybody knows it. I think that those guys know it I think that Brian Cashman knew that that was probably going to be the case. I mean, this is a guy if you're worried about Brian Cashman being ruthless or not just look back to last year at the end of the AL CS remade a change at manager a manager who of course, got a World Series championship for them. They got him to game seven of the AL CS when no one expected them to be there manager. Yes. At a big snafu against the Indians. But they came back in and it seemingly it felt like they won for him. They still made a change your managers. I don't think it's going to be that's going to be a ruthless move. I think something if if you wanted to think that. What could Brian Cashman? Did. That was really ruthless would be trading away. One of the younger players to go. Get a starting pitcher that's better than what's out there on the free agent market. And I don't think he's going to do that either. I think he's probably gonna bring back Jay hap-. I know everybody this morning and throughout the season was talking about a trade deadline target that now is going to be a free agent Patrick Corbin of the Arizona Diamondbacks. So that's going to be a guy go out there and get, but I just I don't know it's going to be this big splash impact off season for the Yankees. I think they're going to tweak, and they're going to do a couple of things bring couple of these guys back, and I think you're gonna see mostly the same team because there aren't a lot of holes on the team. There really are. And there is not a lot of holes in the TV in my eyes. There are I mean, the whole starting staff is like what are we doing? What are you? I don't know. If Jay hap is coming back. I think he is probably Tanaka and is this ever in. Okay. So those three guys then what? Well, I mean, I think that corbin's going to be a guide they're going to go on get. I think you're gonna have Corbin and then that fifth guy. I don't know. I mean, Jordan Montgomery haven't talked about forever. He'll be back at some point. I mean, they'll find a fifth starter. Right. But if you're if you're. Tanaka in Corbin. I mean, I would be okay with that. I'm just saying it's it's not just so everybody understands it's not about the regular season and getting through the regular season. They'll be fine. And I'll get through the regular season is about how are you going going to dethrone either the Red Sox or the Astros? How were you getting through the American League? And how do you match up against those two teams is really the question. Well, you're not going to go out and get the one percent of the league. That's got an ace like that. Like those guys out there. The the Bumgarner the kershaw's the Chris sales the shirts. Here's the degrom. That guy's not going to be on the Yankees next year. I don't think I don't believe unless they decide to completely blow it up and trade guys like Indu are in Torres when they weren't willing to do. So in the past because of the result that happened to them and say L D S because that's what you're gonna get. Right. I mean, that's what your stamps going to be. So and by the way, if you look at the Red Sox staff, I know that a volume. Priscilla were great. But there's still a volume Portillo. So I mean, they had Chris sale who's at all timer. David price who's a dog. And then those two guys who are just guys essentially that shut down the Yankees and don't shut down everybody else's. Well, at least mean porcelain such a moment. All right. So they shut them down fine. I get it. But I told you yesterday you can't go into the playoffs thinking that unless the brewers prove otherwise this year thinking that you're starting pitcher you gotta yank him out after two innings, and you got to be on the top step. What what kind of message is that sending to your pitcher too? By the way, I guess you really doesn't really matter because you just want him to walk and perform, but you have guys that you can count on. Yeah. I mean, right now, the only guy that they legitimately counted on and I feel bad for J because I feel bad that he didn't get a chance to come back. He had like a Severino had a chance last year to come back. He got it was a disaster in the wildcard against the twins. He came back and he settled everybody down. Jay didn't have a chance to come back after his game one foray up there in Fenway park. So I I don't know what he is. Or I'm sure I'll left-handed pitcher in Yankee Stadium is great to have. That's what you wanna have. Hopefully, they'll figure out a way to make that happen. But I I don't know. I don't know what to tell you. If you don't have a couple of those guys at the top of your rotation you can count on giving you one two three or four innings. I mean, you know, you're going to be beating your head up against the wall again next year. Yeah. I mean, I think what. What happened to hap- was abnormal? I think the big concern is Severino and what he's going to be in big moments. I mean, you said thousand times yesterday and the day before and I think you're right about him. In those big situations is he made for those big situations. I see a guy that every time. He's going to go out there and a playoff game, you're holding your breath more. I think about it. The more I talked to. A number of Yankee fans baseball players major league baseball players are like how does he not warm up at the right time. How does he not know what time to warm up? A what the hell is Larry Rothschild doing? How how did that even happen? How did that scenario? It's a bad. Look. It's kind of like the way the Mets started when they batted out of order like how does that happen? Somebody is not connecting the dots. Somebody's not doing their job. Somebody is getting complacent. And this is why Brian Cashman has got to be ruthless. You got you got to look through all of this and say, okay, what happened here how did it happen? And where where where did the disconnect? And it's so tell me what would be you would make. Well, I'm just saying in the case of Severino. And again, I don't have all the facts. So I'm playing hypothetical with you right now. So I don't want. I don't want people to think that I know something that that happened here because I don't, but what I'm saying to you is here you are. You're in the biggest series against your rival in your building. And your about to go up. Hopefully on the Red Sox two games to one. This is your chance you have your ace on the mound. And you're in your building in front of your frenetic fans that are out of their minds, and what's go because you just came off a big win with Tanakh and everything else and Tanaka obviously shown himself to be a true pro again..

"All healthy. Now, finally, and regardless of who's hot and who's not getting them back together in the middle of that order in some combination can that drastically change with this offense is gonna be able to do. Well, there's no doubt. You're you're you're going to start sliding some people down in the lineup, which you know, everybody has a little mental lead up when you get down to seven eight nine. I don't care who you are even if it's a postseason start, it's human nature. So who is going to be hitting seventy nine you're gonna have. Guys, like labor Torres down there. Brett Gardner gonna get a star. We, you know, we don't know all these things yet. But to your point even if they're not one hundred percent swinging the bat like we know they can you after grind through those mentally to figure out a way pitch counts are to go up would love to see all three of those guys that you talked about find it. Mandolin when I was mentioning before get healthy get hot Stanton needs to figure some things out Sanchez pulling off a little bit right now. And these are things that obviously you would love for them to get get right? And they get that lineup at full strength. And then you take your chances a couple of things I'm curious about basically watching the way it's played out. Even just over the course of this last week, and what you think Miguel and do hard defensively. The Yankees are finding their spots to to take him out of there defensively. I find interesting I think three of the last four times it's about the is on the mound. They played Neil Walker over there, the left handed pitcher ground balls to the left side. I think that's a huge factor in that decision process and late evening defense. But he's such a big bat. Let's start with end do har-. How do you manage this where he's struggled defensively to the point where you don't want it to cost you games? But you need his bad in there. It's a hard one. I talked Aaron Boone about this. When he started making some of these changes, and I said, do you worry about and do hard the mental part? That you're taking a young kid out. And basically saying maybe we don't have enough confidence in you right now late in the game. And he said I am a little bit. But I'm also worried about him making a mistake later in the game. And how that's going to affect him and more importantly affect the achey. So obviously, the games are going to dictate the scores going to dictate do you keep him in another inning or to knowing as bad as coming up there. And it's so valuable these are all things that it's going to be fun to watch moving forward the other thing and you touched on Brett Gardner. Aaron judge comes back. The Yankees have a lot of outfielders they acquired Andrew mccutchen. And assuming everybody stays healthy here on out the Yankees have a little bit of dilemma because gardeners not having a very good season. And he continues to struggle late in the season as is his pattern. Now, all of a sudden you have options you have a former MVP who've seen play left field last couple of times. And I think they're tipping their hand a little bit into what might happen here. You can't be loyal to the one guy..

"Indian fairplay needs starting pitching against the indians they're just too good of a team to try to piecemeal an eight innings at a your reliever lots are give me a year you're bitter that clubhouse severino was awful but we won again now we're going to deal with bauer then we're going to deal with kleuver and if the series continues kluever's going to show up again and they have a couple of other guys so what's the mindset even though you're one that i the mindset is one game at a time and and that's the oldest cliche and sports but if you try to think about corey lubar twice and bowers than you get out of your game the yankees can beat the indians but they do have to play a lot better more solid baseball specially from there starting pitching the rest of the series it'd be a great series but the indians bullpen is as good as the yankee both and and the innings rotation is better and there's the different this bullpen in this game for the yankees they are strikeout thirteen twothirds innings of work they were outstanding and as a result with all those thirteen strikeouts tied most all the time by a teams bullpen it a postseason game a couple of years ago the cubs had thirteen against the cardinals yankees gary eight and twothirds innings of work out of their bullpen the up just one run five yards and had those thirteen strikeouts i for the most alltime by a teams bullpen in a postseason in game brett gardner what the big home run didi grigoriants with the big shot certainly got the crowd into it at that point our errand boone saying that was a major factor i think it was a big factor in chad green coming on in the first and putting out the fire with two big strikeouts um kind of electrified this crowd again and got the crowd into it and then brett gardner said bat to lead off the first dating to kinda set the tone and i think right out off the bat urban santana with the pitching change had a long delay before he threw his first pitch and from jump street he did not have is slider tell the yankees knew it and they they were able to wait amount puts a couple of big swings on it and take over.

"Is special aaron judges just hit a home run almost five hundred feet today and then he hit another one opposite way on a line drive just remind us that he's more than just the poll power guy any also hit by the way in the first inning of the game he also hit a single kind of just muscle the little bit of a of a flare opposite way brett gardner was on first space first inning and he just made a smart baseball play went the opposite way to get a runner from first base to third setting up a you know the anc he's for what ended up being a beginning but so that the yankees could get that i rudd just minutes smart baseball play there and so he does that to chinese deals bases and he has an excellent arm and he has great range in the outfield he greets all his teammates at the top the gap and he's already one of the teams leaders as a rookie and even on a day when aaron judge hits two home runs including one that was the longest hit all season even on a day like that in the post game interview he deflects comments and questions about himself and he talks about the team and so yes what we are witnessing is special and we are watching a special talent and is it possible that there will be adjustments in all of that sure but let's not over analyze it in question it to the point of missing it and not enjoying it and not realizing that what we are seeing.
