"Times down the court. The pictures came down and didn't get a shot off within the allocated time. Now, that's really, really bad, bad. Just plain bad. You're right. It's it's just wasting possessions. Vincent. It was bad, right? My point is Devin Booker. Yeah. You could do that if I tell you what, though. I mean, I'm here in Arizona. And actually, the sons are looking a little better than they have been in the past, I think, And maybe he may think that moving to Philadelphia is not that big of an improvement over. What do you got going in Phoenix? There, Given the situation with bread, Brax. My point is I don't think there's anything that can help the Sixers. Really obviously could, but the most the biggest improvement, they could make a get a get a different coach to work with these guys enforcing discipline because, as I said, Ben Simmons is a very talented guy Joel and be the very talented guy. Somebody who forces and being to stay in shape does whatever it needs to do with Simmons to get him to develop his game a little bit more. What would be different? I just don't see anything happening any kind of championship in Philadelphia as long as bright brown is here. Well, yeah. Yeah, And I appreciate the call, and I think a lot of people feel that way. Here's where I'm at on Brett. I recognized the end is arrived. I just I I recognize that Brett Brett Brown's time is ending here in Philadelphia, where that's three weeks from now or for whatever this is going to be its ending. I happen to like Brett, I don't think Brett is the problem. And Is he enough of the solution? Probably not, And that's that's going to cost him his job. He hasn't figured this out. He has a member. He hasn't been the fix, so they're going to look to replace him with a guy that could be the fix. I just every time we do this I think we just did with the Phillies Last year we gave counselor He was a copper was a scapegoat, and it's only seven games. We have a lot of fillies to to figure out what they are. But early early returns show that the problems that run deeper than the manager of the Phillies whoever sitting there in the dugout If Ramon Russo is this is the best option of the bullpen. It's not going to go well each night and I I have a bad feeling. The Sixers is going to end up the same way they're going to get rid of Brown. They're going to keep Ben and Joel. And next year around mid May, when the second round rolls around. My feeling is we're gonna have the same conversation like what's going on here? Why can't they break through? It's like Like Sometimes we want to avoid the Realtor problem by fixing another problem, And my guess is that most is Brett's going to be the move they make. He's goingto Brett is a problem. He's not the problem and firing him isn't the only solution. Is it? It's fighting a symptom and not a disease, right? Sort of and not say that the general maybe I do want to say that Josh Harris is a disease because he's not exactly a great guy. He's a problem. He's a problem. Also many levels not Justus, the owner of the Sixers and Devils, and 17 billion and maybe then that soon and maybe the Mets and the Steelers and all that Stuff. But just like with the Phillies. If Middleton really wants to win now and says he's willing to spend why won't they go over the luxury tax with the Sixers? Today, you know? If Harris is really invested, why, you know they couldn't. Why wasn't he able to do what needed to be done to get a great GM instead of settling for Elton Brand? You know Elton brand, the verdict is still out, but but he's very inexperienced. Josh Harris gets pushed around by the league gets the Colangelo's heaped on him. It's It's more than one problem and until you address the what the actual issues are, instead of just the symptoms. You're not going to get changed. Yeah, it's like you make it change for change. Like we did something. Look, it's going to be different now and then it's probably not going to be different. Let's talk Tio Joe in West Philadelphia is a peer recommendation for us. What's up Jell O. Tell you with this buddy. Put you back in on me. I need Joe's beer recommendation. As we discussed the six years I just tweeted this a few minutes ago. You know what is the sixth? The idea of the Sixers? It's just so much better than the actual Sixers, like the idea is, they're going to put it together. They have all this talent at Josh Harris last Saturday as they come back in the first game in the bubble, telling me that's the best starting five in the N B a A while. No, it's not and that I was Preben. Unfortunately, getting hurt. It's It's just They're very frustrating Team and Look, I just I'm not a fan of Los Angeles Clippers, but I make that comparison. You go back 67 years ago. Every year. This is the year the Clippers will win. If Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan they have Blake Griffin, they're gonna win. And then they didn't want anything They got to the second round. I mean, they didn't win anything that that's what this team that That's what it reminds me of its year in year out of frustration with the Sixers, and my gut tells me they're never going to win. With both Ben and Jo altogether, and I don't I don't think either of them are bad guys. I don't think they don't want to win. I just think there's something about the combination. It's not gonna work, whether someone's injured someone's not happy the surfeit. You need shooters around them Building the team contract is just not gonna work. I just I can't close my eyes and picture a parade with those two together. But there are ways to change this thing. They're going to fire breath That's going to be the way they do it. But if you know earlier tonight, dream agree and inside the MBA. Said he thinks Devin Booker needs to get out of Phoenix is to get to a different team, a winning team. If this if he wants out, and that becomes a possibility, I would trade Ben Simmons for Devin Booker. And build this thing with Booker and Joel Embiid. Would you do it, Chris in Pennsauken, I'm talk to Krystal. Hey, do it. Chris was having my friend. How are you? Not a shot in hell, You're not doing it now, man I spend I spend my tickets or.

Taking through the process or whatever, but, like, Listen, we've gotten to the point where they're gonna start. They gotta start making progress and they gotta start winning. I'm not expecting a championship this year. But you've got to get to a certain point and they've got to do it This year. I want him out. I was cleaning up with my bulldoze their after tornadoes came through you jerks Roy Oswalt and Mississippi. Oh, is that what it was? That is what it was. It makes sense now. Yes. And when he hurt his back was a back injury and he took off. I think he had to go home because of the tornado stuff. Yes, that's why you had to go home. But he didn't. Initially, Mrs Start. "Won the worst contracts the Phillies have negotiated. Since I've been in town for the last 25 years was Mike Leigh recalls. He just fell apart after he signed his deal, and he had preexisting conditions of J T. Doesn't J T is a much better catcher than Mike. Whatever be the better athlete, but Catchers. They're touchy, you know, And there's a there's an element of leadership that great catchers. Usually bring it. I believe Jake has that. But with Bryce Harper and Jake area and re Hosking in the room, I'm not sure who becomes you know what? Uh, I don't know. What does Sorority wass or Oh, Al, help me with the capture of Asano. Sada! Oh, no, no, no, the Red Sox catcher who was the captain for years? Barton Varitek. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm not sure at that level now. So you need that number one number two. He wants a lot of money he wants to set. He wants to change. The pay scale for catchers and God bless him. Maybe maybe maybe he should know. Shouldn't he will? Maybe he won't. I believe he will change it. I believe Matt Klentak is terrified of Signing Jake Yamamoto to another big contract, says Matt Klentak is on the hottest seat in Philadelphia. Right now, Brett Brett Brown is sitting on ice. Gilberte Macklin. Final question I have for you, Marcus. Have you ever been FDR Park? How wild is it going to be four Fillies players to be using it for spring training. Um So even in Lehigh Valley, no, no across from citizens Bank across broad there, FDR. Right, Right, Right. Yeah, Crazy. So I was there like the day Ryan Howard. You know, sort of opened the park and Kristen's a complex and stuff and it's cool. I love that. When I lived in the city, I was going on FDR all the time. And I was playing softball taking take people down there taking field and stuff. It is going to be kind of wild is going to be like Ah. I mean, just the just The the amount of power is going to be generated in those field is just And you know it's going to be so personal, you know, getting so up close and personal. I think they're going to enjoy it. I think the players are going to enjoy it honestly, because it's baseball. It's really baseball. No. No bells and whistles. No You know, extra stuff. It's like field of dreams, right? Yeah, it'll be wild for sure. His name's Marcus Hayes, columnist for the Enquirer, inquire dot com for links to all his stories, follow him on Twitter If you don't already at ink stained wretch, Marcus. Thank you, man. Sorry, guys. They go see Marcus. Yeah, that you how unique is it going to be, though? If you know when they have spring winter spring training to point it gets underway. I wish they'd start calling it spring training Well, well for summer summer training, summer training, abbreviated trading other call you either way, Cam when training camp gets underway again on their split, and I'm sure it'll be more of the triple A guy's or the major League players that will be at Either way, you might see Spencer Howard or ah, a couple of Alec Bone. Maybe it FDR Park That's got to be so cool. How could you not be tempted as a fan? So you get the car. Let's just drive by there. We'll just buy the rules are there I mean, I don't know how long I have Far East empire. Now I don't know any rules anymore with where you can go. There's no congregate, but I mean it's still six feet, but there's no other rule otherwise. Is it still six feet? But if you're with somebody, it isn't six feet. Well, if you go to the beach, and I think you're gonna be six feet away from the next group, I don't know what I have. And gatherings are limited to a certain amount of people. So you mean you can't have 500 people gathering at FDR Park, But there might be 100 guards. I would think. Yeah, but they're not going to say 1234 up too many get out of here. They're just going to say Maybe there's too many people they don't want anybody would advise you to leave. Have a perimeter. Think so? They'll put up a couple fences. They're not going to allow anybody their perimeter. Yeah, No, I don't mean like within arm's reach of a player, but either close enough to see them. They're not going to be there. Don't be a perimeter disappointing. You're not all the ones the fun. Josie is I What are you going to be a buzz kill that that would be watched him on television and Watson play they can run by. Maybe I don't know where in above logistics are well, no down there. I'm sure in the coming days will make it be like a bubble. I can guarantee you, Rick and Phillies on W. Good morning, Rick. "I don't know what the pieces around deal would like. That would look like but from a philosophical standpoint for the Lakers. I think finding somebody like that whether it's the England Allah whether it's a Covington whoever else it may be is up the importance because if you do get a physical tough playoff series which you probably will having many of those guys as you possibly can is important and actually we're getting through that series. You know what the more I think about this. The more I tend to I agree with you in the sense that you you get the playoffs. You feel like the Lakers are going to be winning games. One hundred nine nine to one zero one right. They're not playing you in the one twenties in the one thirties. They're not gonNA outgun you. I mean been outstanding defensive team this year and that's connect game that they have been outstanding by the numbers offensively. I listen yes. Yes the very specific situation. Sometimes against the highest level teams there has been a bit of Achilles heel in some of the games which is totally understandable. And that's what you have to worry about when they get about winning a title. You know what happens win. Win these games slow down and their games are going to slow down more. There's some of these teams that are going to be more than happy to play a game. One Hundred Twenty six to one hundred twenty two. That's not the Lakers are going to be doing. And so that's why I'm saying there's only X.. Amount of points that you gotta get in order to win these games. And so which which is it better to have somebody that's the hard nosed defender that helps you get out even more transition baskets or having another guy that can get you bucket bucket. It may come down to Kevin may come down to Lebron getting at twenty five and eighties getting a thirty five. You are still going to have to find you know. beat the other points. Which is the answer? I don't know which is the answer right. You know supersize this thing and make it even more amazing defensively a team team that you just can't score on and makes you meg uncomfortable or are we gonNA look up. It's a damn man. They need another score you know. We'll they do and that that's the other apart. There were right there. There were moments and last science game where Lebron is off the court. And you're like what's happening to there is a lack of movement stagnant and and with Rondo. Yes he's a still a good individual passer could make some brilliant passes off the dribble but something happens their offense on the broad as off the court they need to find another ball handling presence. That's better than Rondo and Rondo has imports. That team as I figure in the locker room as a vocal leader you're as an example. You know as an extension from the coaching staff. That's important to have however on the court he's not the guy and whether it's Darren calls free agency or whether it's if what our to get bought out which I still don't think he is from the people I've talked to are around the league I would expect the trade there from Memphis at some point if he gets dealt at at all but I wouldn't expect the buyout. So like for the Lakers. Were your options. Of course there's the derrick rose room or two from Chris. Hanes of Yahoo Sports. Rose would be an interesting fit considering during how well he's played he's improved. At least. The last two seasons has a spot up shooter so he can. You can feel a little bit more comfortable with him over Rondo Who who is a worse you know spot up shooter does not get the respect of the defense rose is a better player right now than Rondo? I'm not sure he's actually the answer though to their ball movement issues when when and Lebron's off the court though no but I don't know if look you derrick rose. That's a guy that can get you thirty. I mean and and and if you the offense if you want your offense to be okay with him off the court he is the kind of guy especially come playoff time. If we're if we're saying I got a healthy Derrick. Rose I mean I don't know people have noticed. Derrick rose has been fantastic these last two years now running. He's been great. I mean that to me that would be an unbelievable get if they could somehow finagle. Derrick rose a away from Detroit. If let's say the Lakers were to get derrick rose if you do get roses your spark plug off the bench. I think you would then feel a bit more comfortable trading Kuzma yet for whatever else. I agree with him as a hard knows. Wing defender Dakota sort of reconfiguring configuring the parts around Lebron Eighty. I mean. I picked this team to win the finals. Before the season began. I would still pick them now doing the finals despite everything we're saying but that that doesn't mean there's a there's no guarantee here. You WanNa always increase your odds. And when you know Boston and the clippers and there's other instances have punched the team in the mall of they have a xactly punched back. You want to improve that characteristic of your roster in some way shape or form yeah wonder if coups mma you know there there are some and I i. I don't wear on this. That think he is a very good opportunity as an as an overpay candidate. And you look and you see what the Lakers there's going to be doing. You're not paying them anyway. You're not he's not for long like I mean. Are you really gonNA pay calicoes when when it comes time very very doubtful that the Lakers are in a position that they're going to pay him therefore right getting something for him is not the worst idea in the last year of his rookie. Contract is next season so in two thousand twenty one. He'll be restricted free agent. And of course as the Lakers there could be incentive to keeping him and doing a sign and trade in twenty twenty one. But look like there's there's no guarantee of that it may turn out that he gets an offer sheet that so high from a team in which they'll be a lot of cap space. Yep You just lose them. You don't match it and yeah I think these next to the next year and a half this the rest of this year and next season. There's better fits than coups. My and I. You know you talk to people around around the league and there's people who hate Kuzina there's people who think that he's waiting to be unleashed and a new role with more opportunity. As an oddball score. It's all over the place in terms of how people value value him for the Lakers. Specifically I do think there's benefits out there and it'd be wise for them to try at least attempt to reconfigure this bench all right One of the other teams. That is rumored for that. Derrick rose thing if we jumped to them is a team that's won now four in a row and stayed in this race in the Eastern Conference standings sandy's that is Philadelphia and Ben. Simmons must be listening to you recently. Because he's going on a tale having he said he had twenty eleven in these last four games twenty eleven and six twenty eleven and seven twenty one seven and eight and then last night is masterpiece. Thirty four a career high. Go along with five steals two blocks twelve assists twelve pounds eighty six percent from the field now in fairness the last four games have been Brooklyn in Chicago New York Brooklyn right so it's not like they played a murderer's row of teams. But Simmons has been absolutely awesome for order them recently and it is always odd when we see him without embiid and you see he is so effective down in and the paint right and the amount of space so it's a catch twenty. Two embiid is of course best you know from whatever ten feet in Yet Brett Brown. We'll put him out of the three point line quite a bit and Simmons Look. We know where he's best. You got to players who are best suited to be ten feet in and it feels like there's a lot more space A lot of these games when you watched Simmons when embiid's not out there and they're clearly not a better team but it's better for Ben Simmons Production Short especially especially. I mean that might have been the best basketball. He's played in a single game of his career. What he against the nets yesterday? Because you mentioned all the numbers thirty four twelve and twelve five steals to two glocks. Forget the numbers though. Just watch the individual defensive play with the effort that he was giving with the just the timely rotations and just really locking down that Brooklyn offense down the stretch of the game. Look with Ben. We know he's an all defensive player of savebig four offensively he supremely talented. I thought and unless science game at the Adjustment Brown made was playing Netto as the point guard. And Ben Simmons a center with the backup units. And we we saw the value in using Ben Simmons as an oddball screener with a point guard. WHO's willing to pass? or the point guard who can create like NATO Ken and we're talking about NATO. Oh here right. Netto is not a great point guard. He's he's a career backup and yet the value that he brought to Ben as a as a screener was a significant. Because Simmons unless I counted six or seven on ball screens that symon set for NATO as the ball handler. And that'll found him. Ben was on the role all he rolled hard set. Good strong strains and I imagine a situation well what I. We talked about this before. What if they were to trade for a Chris Paul with with the Al Horford contract and what Paul could mean for? Ben Simmons as a half court screener on the short roll. Picking Apart defensive the pass or rolling hard to the Rim and finishing 'cause we saw glimpse of what it could look like with Netto of all players. Could Derrick rose being nice edition for them to unleash that area of Ben Simmons game of course with rose. He's not a good shooter off. The dribble so defenses are probably going to go under all those screens or maybe even switch but when when in Brooklyn did switch against Simmons last night he a good job beating those switches using his size and power over the smaller defender. That was initially on that. Oh I think Brett Brett Brown should use more netto in the rotation because of what we saw last night's game get a continue to experiment with this because that's what can unleash. Ben Simmons in the half court even without a three point shot. Three point. Shot is important in many situations but in embiid is off the court especially having that point guard and there can help us. He's been just by his a screener man he bring value that way and it was nice to see that happen last night. Are you a fan. Do you which is rose a better fit for Philly or the Lakers? The two teams that both came up. I prefer him for Philadelphia interesting. I think I mean it's not a perfect fit because of the shooting aspect I mentioned and earlier that he's thirty seven percent on spot up threes. That's only since last season on a pretty small sample. The defense is still respect him significantly but he's at least a you know a non liability as spot shooter. So if embiid or Simmons are carrying the ball he can still stand in the corner or or above the break. See I I like. I like the Lakers. Just because of what we're talking about earlier that those those minutes that Lebron's not out on the court. How do you not get killed and boy if you throw? Rosen Davis out there. That's that can be pretty devastating and it certainly not only gets you buy. They may be able to run you out. I mean I'm also I mean maybe maybe it's just worse for both because I'm thinking of Philadelphia with if you're going with a union of Simmons and Horford in the frontcourt when a beat off the court and you have rose with two shooters on the court say fable and tumble and Paris shitter rings. Don't don't they dive shooter. I mini shot. Well this season he was over five. Yesterday you don't trust it. You don't trust him be and let's considered as what they have just two wings. The it's five Harris since Korkmaz Shore. Whoever it might be pl- plug and play? Whatever when you want their it'd be interesting go? There occurs as a downhill picking player. Because you don't need to use Simmons as the screener necessarily you could have Simmons and the Dunker spot with Horford picking popping with a downhill presence like derrick rose. I think he would fit in either situation. It's just a matter of how much Detroit would want for him. And whether considering all all the off court stuff it Philadelphia Los Angeles would find it worth actually trading for him all right. Let's speak on a couple of other things that have happened since we last spoke. The I bet the Houston Locker Room was not a fun place to be last night after Chris. Paul exacts revenge. He's got to be just absolutely loving. This does Paul all that Dennis Schroder and the group like Look Day they have. They've had a budget comebacks. And certainly you don't want to be in a close game with five minutes to go with the thunder under. That is what we have learned. Because you need you need to be a big on them and sometimes a really really big and Houston was a really really big blue. Another huge lead last night. And hardens numbers of course made headlines because he's one of seventeen from three but that's just a that that was the worst of what has been a very strange moment harden now for the month of January Kevin is thirty six percent from the a field and twenty six percent from three so far this month like you know the counting numbers are still there but the efficiency is just down so oh much lower than what we have been accustomed to and you wonder if this is just a at some point this now I think eight games that they've played aide in the month of January. So I if people can cry small sample size and he may come back and next game. He's twenty or thirty for sixty points points. It's totally possible but something has been off and I don't know if it's just the shot because you got more might've Dan Dan Tony Quotes about the team like something..

Raptors radio with that you want to talk about brass this guy to work through six foot ten inch. Ben Simmons to get to joylin bead a dude with a wing span of like fourteen feet and still didn't blink. And then post game. You didn't hear Philadelphia players or coaches, complain about the rafts or blame themselves for missed opportunities. They tip. They're freaking hat listening. Jimmy butler. He's really good player. And he's been doing that for a long time. Now in the league he's done that every game of this series. So I mean, I don't know what else you can do. Tobias Harris said it's not about what we didn't. Do. It's about what that guy did say he's taken to contest it. But he's a heck of a player as making tough shots. So we gotta just continued to physical show a crowd and the MS touches biggest thing, and then they got around and Brett Brett Brown. Brett brown. When with the ultimate compliment. He compared Kawai to the Mamba, you know, the the stuff that he can get off and two people up to the stuff that he can do to create his own shot. Is is Kobe lake for me? You know, he's he's he's just so gifted in relation to doing that. That's a hell of a player thirty nine points. And you really felt all of them. It's exactly right. Like, we did everything we had we threw everything we could at this guy. And it didn't matter. He got his to hell of a player you tip your hat. So I respect all three of them. And what they said. But better than anything that the three of them said was this dude from the cheap seats at the Wells Fargo center per the athletic. This is what one fan was screaming at Kawai is. He was lighting that joint on fire quote weirdo. Weirdo. You're a weird guy. Weirdo. You're a weird guy. Yeah. Without weirdo. Descent that serious back to Toronto tied at two games apiece. That weird guy is doing better than maybe any perimeter player has ever done it in the postseason that weirdo is stone, cold and dead. You might be weird. But he's not afraid might be weird. But he's not afraid of Toronto's past and he's not worried about their future. He's just taking everything that the Sixers throw at him and dishing it right back. Even colder. Toronto loses that game this series is over. But they didn't because that weirdo would not let them get weird. Good. But nothing. Guy wasn't.

"Say we weren't ready for this game. We underperformed. That's fine. I have no issue with that whatsoever. But it escalated to then singling out Harper the way that he did that really surprised me. And then to say, well, I'm out there busting my hump. Nobody backed me up that's way, outta line. Yeah. That's true. He he didn't have his best game. And I think each step up you say if he includes themselves with it too. I wanted to have left the Sixers, you know, go really stepped up near the end of the game like low post, or so, but you know, turnovers were definitely concerned that way too many turnovers like you said seven stepped up Tobias Harris, you know, stepped up in this. Of course, Scott. Me and the nets really work probably giving them probably the best game two series was up. So to win that game. Big to go up three one. It is something that you to to follow up with what you said about the turnovers late. You're right. That is a big deal. It goes overlooked because we won the game. And Embiid was was amazing late, and they came through with that victory to go up three games to one by overlooked by most is that turnover. He had late in the game. And thankfully, Brooklyn in their inexperience are just chucking up ill advised shots. Don't go in in the Sixers survive, you will not be able to do that. And get away with the next year is would lower unicol. I Leonard I think go up like defensively and see if Simmons excels like e you know, thirty point game and decent game, you know, like on Saturday. But then I wanted to go and forward, you know, would goals, you know, the own beads health, though, I mean, you would hope that he plays little asking. But like the first game he sort of looked at you know, but he looked you know with thirty one points in thirty one minutes and sixteen rebound. You got like a, you know, like am better and beating you know, one of the top four scores and a league or. Mind boggling. Yeah. It is it really Neal. I appreciate the call. This is the thing with Embiid that I'm just I can't make any sense of I can tell you. Let me let me inform you of a little bit. I'll tell you right now. Joel Embiid does not have knee tendinitis. That is not the reason for him missing games and sitting games. He doesn't have tendonitis for all the reasons that you've heard many times on this radio station from a from various hosts that tendonitis does not get worse when you're relaxing tendonitis. Does not require an arthritic brace. There is something going on with Joel the organization is I even Brett Brett Brown called out his own organization prior to game four. When he was asked about a, you know about what's going on with him. You know, Bret said, I, you know, I wish somebody you guys deserve the right to know, what is going on with Joel. But wouldn't say anything further, and you know, what at this point? Although we all deserve to know. I don't blame the head coach for not telling us bread has been the messenger since day one. And he shouldn't have to be. Now this team is competitive. They're trying for a championship. They're making a playoff run the head coach the head coach should not be answering questions health related questions outside of the basic information about his big man that should be the general manager and Elton brand or someone from the medical staff who fields questions from the media, and I can tell you right now in my seven years covering the seventy Sixers I have never ever had the opportunity to speak to someone in the medical staff about injuries not once in seven years, and that is a huge. Organizational problem from the get-go. Having said that I don't know what the hell's going on. I don't know. I have no idea. I really thought once we're up two games to one. I'm like, why would you play him in game three from this from the rest of the series only playing if necessary if his knees really that bad, you give them the rest, you tell them what to do and you deal with, you know, and and then if you need to bring him back in that series, you do so otherwise you rest them until the next series begins when the real challenge begins, but he plays and the first half of game four. He looked terrible. He played ten minutes. And you're saying, wow, Joel shouldn't be playing in this game. And then the incident happened the scuffle with Butler and Jared Dudley, and it sparked Embiid, and he was an animal in the final eighteen minutes. Eighteen in the finally team minutes. He had eighteen points, nine rebounds, four assists. I believe and I think three blocks he was he was unbelievable. So having said that I don't know what to believe something. I can tell you. That you probably won't get anywhere else. So a lot has been called into question about Joel's health, not as knee, but his I shouldn't say his. Lifestyle his commitment to his fitness base. Because there's the you heard the I'm sure many people have heard the Landry Shamet interview where he talked about Chick-fil-A. Enjoy all getting four sandwiches for milkshakes. One thing that I have noticed over the time with Joel when he is active when he knows he's playing almost every game. He is totally committed to the game of basketball in every facet of it. The problem is when he kind of checks out for periods of time. If he's going to sit in all his how his eating habits are horrendous. They are terrible. Unless he has that moment of realization that somebody maybe. Someone that he truly values their opinion. Has that conversation with amid finally clicks home? I'm telling you right now Joel Embiid will not have a long term NBA career because he does not care enough. About his body. Whether it's eating habits or maintaining that fitness for the extended period of time for that long run out bring bringing up all the time JJ Riddick is. I've never seen a professional JJ Rettig in the way, they maintenance their body. I didn't cover nearly enough. It tastes shakes out lead to be able to tell you firsthand, but I can tell you JJ Redick is such a creature of habit from what he eats to his workout regimen to his film study the wash rinse repeat of it to rehab to getting a massage at this time, making sure this is maintenance at the right time. The guy is unbelievable. Yeah. I realized we can always critique him for his lack of defense. And all he I mean, he can do only what he can do. But I'm telling you, it's not for lack of trying his ability to do what he has done for as many years as he's been able to do it. He would be astounded his daily routine. I mean, it's just hours and hours of nothing, but NBA basketball and making sure his body is a full go for each and every game thing about this in his career JJ Radic has played in the playoffs every single season you've seen how this first series has gone. How long it has gone? How many games has gone we're playing we played four games doesn't it feel like a month of basketball already with just the nets? Imagine the physical toll. It takes on your body in these games. And if you go through a grind if you get to the four rounds of the playoffs. How are you not dead? That's how good JJ Redick has been all these years of his career. Now a lot of have been one and done in the playoffs. I get it. But to be able to do this every single year. I mean, that's the person you study and say how do you do that? I gotta do what this guy does. And I don't know. I'm sure Rennick has spoken. Joel many many times about what he does. I just hope that moment comes for four Embiid where he realizes what he has to do because otherwise is NBA career is going to be very very short eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four pound line four nine four eight CFC Verizon wireless cell phone. A few final thoughts on the other side. They're going to pick Tom Kelly's brain I have to ask him. And he's got a Hugh. "And then ran into a woke the damn do all like Derrick Coleman. It can happen to anybody. Now as far as bringing in the bund can't that you know, is is a great strategist. Okay. Brad Stevens is a really highly intelligent coach. Is he good job Ling personalities? I think this year is kind of evidence that maybe he's not. Well, this year thinks definitely got out of control for the Celtics. I mean that is fair. Listen, if Kyrie's just going to be a jerk and difficult, you know, there's only so much coach can do. And I think I think daily some of that with Derrick Coleman. So I looked there's only so much a coach can do. But I do think coach should be able to get a player to choose to shoot the ball. And I just I just do. I I mean, I feel confident as a sports fan saying that a coach should be able to shoot the ball there. There's no argument there, Joe, my point is just that, you know, there's the old saying evil, you know, sometimes I get around people. All I mean, listen, I'll tell you this Kenny I would say other than Andy Reid. There's probably no coach in the history of Philadelphia sports in my lifetime. So not including for meal because I was too young for meal. I was about four years old vermeil's step down. But that I've seen is probably no coach other than Andy Reid that. I would be more happy to see him when a championship in Philadelphia. Then Brett Brown. I mean Brett Brett Brown is someone that would just be it would be such a wonderful story, and it would like complete the thirty for thirty that should become in some day. And you know, it'll be a shame if they have to move on. But if he doesn't deliver and I'm not saying title this year, I'm saying way less way less but my God some progress in the playoffs some competition in the second round. Then I think they should move on. I can't give me what was highly anticipated. Well in Honora of today. Congratulations to Doug, welcome to the club in honor of today. "We're also asking you your preference of excitement here. NBA play-offs Phillies opening day NCAA tournament, which would it be. I haven't taken a whole lot of calls the last two days, and I came on yesterday after this election Sunday on the actual games itself. A little bit maybe here and there on temple getting over whatever but not whole lot of excitement for the NCAA tournament Philadelphia. And I and I think that's just kind of the the way things are were were much. More of a pro town. You know, even though we know the tradition of college basketball in the city. Just not just not the case. With people as much anymore. You know? And maybe it's the fact that of late Saint Joe's hasn't been much of a factor. Lasalle temples kind of been hit or miss the ring again this year, but you know, it's been up and down Villanova has really been the dominant team. They've they've gone on historic runs here. Can you talk about two national championships out of the last three years? But I just don't think people are as dialed in. And I think in general. The one and done thing may be impacting things. But my sense is the biggest reason that people are locked in is because of their brackets plain and simple, go to dust it in the northeast, Dustin euro, ninety four to be IP euro, rob what's going on knbr Dustin. How are you man? Remember me marijuana? We're getting all the work. And I hear you. I got a call. I appreciate it. Brad work go tonight for you. Are you know, Mondays managed to drag? We short. We've got all Friday. So I'm looking forward honestly, drug drug. Yeah. And it's not about a lot of people had had fun over the weekend with with Paddy's day which made Monday even tougher. Well. This thing that made my weekend. So was what we saw the court on Sunday afternoon. I mean, I don't know how you can watch this team and not safe that they do not have a squad that can go to the NBA this team. Rob is legit. They really are legit. And when you could go, and you go into a place like Milwaukee who I think if I'm not mistaken that was only their eleventh wall at home this year. And it was the first if I'm not mistaken the first time all season they lost back to back. It's a matter hundred check the back the backsta y'all check the back to back so Milwaukee going into the game yesterday was actually twenty-seven and five at home. So even better than you said. So that yeah, they'd be they'd been unbelievable for sure you were in there. And and. He turns. It took the foot off the pedal at the not what we're used to what we saw yesterday in the fourth quarter. Especially was the different team. Brett Brown was calling timely timeout when he needed to call timeouts and he got the crew together. He was just putting together, please. Like a turning point in the game yesterday. When I literally looked at my buddies. Was like, yeah, we're gonna win this game. Was they they were up by like ten or maybe twelve and Milwaukee started going on Iran and breath called a timeout came out and put it in the hands of Tobias Harris who drove a three and the buys wasn't really playing all that way. It wasn't one of his better games. So that was that was a big shot for sure. And I got the three when they were up for were harassed drove and kicked it over to him was a my was about maybe two two and change left. That was a huge shot. This first of all, you know, how I feel about Joe, I think he? I don't think he's a generational player. I think he's a once in a in a history of an MBA type apartment to be completely honest with you if you can figure out a way to stay healthy. His abilities on a basketball court are unbelievable. This guy has for the ball is in. You have a seven foot plus guy who shoots it above eighty percent. From the free throw line. He has the ability. Yeah, we will all agree thirteen threes or too many. But he has the ability to knock down a three the footwork the ways improve this handle like that move yesterday. The spin move where he begins using the left goes into a spin move sort of that that fade away banker and one was insane. And if you watch this guy, I talked to you the other day about it. I went down to the game last Tuesday and for anybody. That's rob. I must've said this on your show not just on this station. But in previous lives. Eighties. You it's in most see for anybody. That's listening. If you've never seemed to be play live, you have to go see him play live because TV it's one thing. But like when you're watching it in front of you, and you're seeing what you gotta you gotta keep it back your mind and do to seven two and you still running around doing the crazy stuff. It is incredible. And it's must see basketball. Rob I'm near the Sixers this year. I think they're going to get to the finals. I think they're going to figure out a way they have the piece. No, they had the pieces. That's what it's gotta be is the same kind of effort out of Jimmy Butler, the same kind of metality outta Jimmy Butler that you got on Sunday actually got it the previous game as well on on Friday. But that's you have to have if he has that. If he's got that killer instinct, they are they're going to be tough to beat for sure. There there. Yeah. So you're saying that killer instinct, you know, a thing that I saw especially in the past two games out of him. Defense like last week and the week before I just felt like he wasn't really mentally. It wasn't is a game. He was. Yeah. Walking around and for Brett Brett Brown has to continuously Chow, Jim. He even said in an interview before the game. I think I don't know. But he said he has to remind Jimmy Butler. Would you be Bartlett gets the ball in his hands? He should not be thinking pass this team needs to be a score for this. That we can put the borders hand in the fourth quarter. Like we did yesterday and run a pick and roll and have a two player offense between him and Joel. Yeah. It's just you're going to have Joe role. And you're gonna have somebody opened the half the double in the post. When you have situations where he's resting Ben. And and Joe. Every play has to go through Tobias and and and Jimmy every single play. I mean without question and in that's engaged offensively. Yeah. Let me ask you this do zone brand was talking about it a couple of weeks ago, like what may trades? I went down right after the all star break he's saying that he's prepared to give a max deal to Tobias and Jimmy Butler. Do you do that? I wanted you both of them and us, I I gotta run. But I'll I'll answer it. I appreciate it. Man. Good talking to is always thanks, man. I. I want to buy Harris back here. Absolutely. I would. I'm hoping to let this thing shake out a little bit. And let's see what the rest of the regular season looks like and let's see what the playoffs look like if Jimmy Butler continues of this mentality. Now, I'm not copping out on you here. But if I see a Jimmy Butler, who's not engaged who's kind of checking out who's sulking maybe because he's not getting plays run for him. Then that's a different story. Then the other thing is I don't want to max out Jimmy Butler either. I'm not going five years one hundred ninety if somebody like the clippers wants to give him that then so be it. I'll use that money somewhere else. I don't want to pay him that kind of money. I don't think you're gonna have to max out Tobias Harris. He's gonna get paid. No doubt. But I don't I don't want to give them that kind of money. Now, I'm saying that on the heels of. Ginny having an unbelievable game. And me saying that if he plays that way this team has a chance to get to the NBA finals. But I don't wanna maxim out, and I need to see if he continues this. I hope it wasn't just two games. It was too long a stretch there during the regular season where he he was just sort of floating in any turn it on occasionally. He makes a big defensive plays at the end of the game. You do some other things here and there, but there were so many moments where I just felt like he was disengaged. Now, I don't know if that's. The tough thing to try to get Jimmy Butler said because he's a different guy. So he could be looking at it. Like, hey, I'm making the ultimate sacrifice. I'm giving up. My my offensive numbers to try to allow this team to win. That's the way he may be viewing this it doesn't quite look like that to me. It looks like maybe he's not thrilled. But yeah, that's going to be one of the things that Brett Brown has gotta do has got to be able to figure out how to keep him engaged. It's not easy keeping, you know, millionaires engaged in wanting to to keep them motivated or whatever. But that that is one of the things that he's gonna he's gonna have to do. And it's not easy Benza ball dominant guy. Wells a ball dominant guy at times. I mean, Ben on the fast break is certainly looking to distribute and kick it out. But you know, he's got the ball in his hands. A lot Jay is going to get his. You know, these are good problems to have the fact that you have options much rather have this than God who's going to score here. You know, you you do five guys with that. Starting lineup all capable of of easily dropping twenty something in the NBA in in varying ways. But you you knew this going in if you're Jimmy Butler that everything it's run through and beat everything. And the primary ball handler is going to be. Ben simmons. And I it is a unique situation in that your point guard doesn't shoot from the outside your bigs not afraid to shoot from the outside. But he's gonna he's gonna the ball in his hands a lot as you should everything should go through. Joel Embiid, by the way. But yeah, I mean, I it's it's that's why you're glad knock on wood. Everybody's healthy. And these guys are getting up tune the play together, not only are they going to get an opportunity to play together. They're also going to get an opportunity to face.

"They would've put up prior to the deadline. But if it's for the greater good of the team that nobody should care. So because this team this team has the potential to be awesome, man. Right. It really has excited now that we actually have a group of players that can actually get us to the finals and maybe actually compete with the Western Conference team. Right. Yeah. It's I appreciate I am. Sorry. Your little short. No. I hear you. You're absolutely right. This is an exciting time. There's nothing wrong with being excited. This is good times. It's Brett Brett Brown needs time. I'm not going to sit here and say, well, it's a great team that brought Browns not really good coach ever proved to be. No, I think right. Brown's a good coach. "A an interesting nickname for Ben. Yeah. I think it was Eric on Twitter suggested that Ben Simmons nicknamed should be PowerPoint. I liked that. We've had enough point four that that's been done a million times Pippen and the power point forward is old PowerPoint sounds more forceful, and that feels like what we're trying to talk about here. Like, what is easy point guard is he not and don't forget later in this because this hour is over we have the dramatic. Reading of the Keith Pompeii comments section. That is what the people are listening. I'm so distracted by doing it right now that that the the segment up until then the next seven minutes is going to be really difficult compose yourself because we have to bring on John and he wants to talk about our conversation here. What's up, John? Guys, doing good, John? What's up? So so what do you give you a couple of things to think about? Joel Embiid is transcended player. That's changing the position. It doesn't matter. What you call the position note. We've never seen guy seven to cross and people over Ben Simmons is changing a position. We haven't seen this Bajic jobs. When a guy gets the ball creates missed batches create space and gets to the Iraq at will. Point point, number two. I don't think he gets the racket will. But but go ahead and the fast break, he does not. Will add will would mean whenever he wanted. Yeah. Well, remember they wanna motion offense and the half court offense. So everybody touches the ball soon as they get up and becomes up. He gets the ball. They look for a pick. Everybody's moving. They try to create space mismatches. Right. But your point your point was that Ben Simmons gets to the racket will. So if he gets the racket will why isn't like why he scoring fifteen points a game and only shooting five free throws again. He doesn't get to the racket. Well, let me let me let me make the second point. And everybody's so worried about okay. If you look at the top fifteen or twenty players in the history of the NBA, all right? And you look at guys and you look at guys like Barkley and Patrick Ewing. You know, most of the a lot of these guys did not have a shot coming into the lake Patrick Ewing could not shoot a team had a decent shot. Not a great. But all the big guys. All those guys are. Yeah. Hi, I'm saying I want to see him still play point guard, but those are fours and fives. And number two on that John was a different game. When when Patrick and came in the league in the mid eighties. A different game. But my point is when the real professionals when they get into the league they work on their game every day, Michael Jordan, LeBron James every day. The question, you gotta be asking is this guy had the heart to work on his Jane to change, you know, to to create that shot it'd be that complete player whether he plays point guard or doesn't play point guard. I mean, look at it that like Magic Johnson when he came in the league, he couldn't shoot. It's different. One thousand nine hundred eighty if he's nineteen eighty you're talking about no one hundred and thirty points a game yet because nobody played any defense. John my point to you is this is that in your looking at a game in which in many games teams are shooting more three pointers than to pointers. So if if the only thing that teams are trying to do at this point is either get a dunk a free throw or a three pointer and two of those are out the window with Ben Simmons. Then then him controlling the offense. Like Magic Johnson did is not it's not possible anymore. We Magic Johnson was wonderful. And Ben Simmons is really useful. But but Magic Johnson was able to do that. Then because the game was just it was different. It's not the the fact that you made a statement that they didn't play defense in the eight. Well, they didn't they didn't. They didn't. John. How are they scoring one hundred? How are they scoring one hundred thirty points in a game without threes. Where were the points coming from? You were not even born you don't I was born in ninety John John John. I was born John John. I was born in nineteen seventy six Jonah's born nineteen seventy six I watch basketball in the eighties. Just like you did the time when when points went down when when team started playing a lot of rough defense was the nineties, and that's when everybody hated the NBA in the late nineties and early two thousand city changed it when you look at the seventies and eighties. Why do you think Oscar Robertson was able to average a triple double? Nobody paid any defense. Nobody played any defense in the eighties. They ran up and down. There were good defensive players. But it was not like this defensive everybody likes to look at the the old NBA. That's defense. No, they it was harder to play. It was easier to play defense because you could put your hands on people. But it wasn't like a defensive league in the early. And then like you said they made it a defensively in the ninety s and everyone hated it. Well, who wants to watch a playoff team that's seventy eight to sixty nine the Knicks punching instead of Jeff Van Gundy grabbing onto Alonzo Mourning's leg knowing wanted that now, let's talk to Jack and Santa Barbara what's up, Jack. Hey, how you guys doing doing? Great, jack. What's up? You're you're banging each other under the boards there. Joe? You and spy. Hey, nineties basketball here, Jack. Yeah. Jeff. Hey, spike. You finally said what I wanted to hear on this radio station. This guy is not a point guard. He he he doesn't know how to orchestrate. And I think my feeling about band is he's fundamentally flawed because of the way he learned how to play basketball in arena, where he was the guy have either of you seen the documentary one and done have you seen that was that the one he did after he got out of school. Or when he was in school. Yeah. I haven't seen it. But I remember when it came out that Ben Simmons minute. Yeah. I saw the bit. I mean, it was mostly a commercial for Ben Simmons. But I I did see it. Yeah. If you go see that, it will tell you everything you need to know about this guy's development and his family dynamics. And how they limited. Yeah. I mean, Ben is a freak. That's what he is. Okay. But he's fundamentally flawed in too many areas to be playing point guard. Now, I want to take another point of view here and throw it out to you guys because it's great talk radio. And I love I love the station. And I love this show. Okay. On the big fan of you guys. So so you bring in this nineteen year old point guards drafted I and you tell him he's not the point guard. Right. Remember when when Markelle folks came, and they and they were they were cramming down his throat. Ben Simmons is the point guard Ben Simmons disappoint guard. And I said to several people on the station why they this guy that's an on ball shooter and expect that he's going to shoot off the ball. I want your thoughts on this. Well, they wanted. Ben Simmons to be. The point guard and Jack Jack appreciate the call and the listening that they wanted Ben to be the point guard the problem with faults isn't that he's a good on ball shooter? And he's a bad off ball shooter. The problem is that he he cannot shoot at all in any contact with the promise he can't play. He just flat out can't and will not play basketball. Yeah. I used to be a different conversation if he was playing, and he was it was an awkward fit. He's not play. Yeah. He's on the barely even played. And the Sixers team got significantly better when he stopped playing everybody points to the Butler arrival as when they got significantly better. But something else happened. When Butler arrived is full stopped playing, and they stopped trying to do this whole thing. Trying to take what was last year's best starting five in the NBA and purposely ruin it because they took the most important offensive player next to Embiid, which is JJ Rettig put him on the bench to start the game stiff down we got Marquel? All right. One more call and then we'll get into the dramatic reading and the Pompeii comic section. This is James from west Philly. Of course, we gotta take this. When skip Eskin doesn't know what he's talking about. James? What's up, man? James? That's a bummer James co feed here buddy really wanted now. All right. Anwar has been waiting. What's up Anwar coast? And and the gods writes good basket, doesn't know how way come on and the match questions. Good. I do. The team back. Why? Has never been a part of losing tune. And so she's been a professional ballplayer. Whereas you. He's. Where did you win this year thirty three and eighteen? What exactly is holding back no-one said anybody's? Well, what do you want them to get to the second round? Or do you want him to win a championship? There's probably okay. Right. So last year they lost in five games in the second round to a team that had been Simmons. So spooked that they had to start TJ McConnell because they could not get any creation off the perimeter because Ben Simmons was playing point guard and didn't know what to do because the Boston Celtics just backed off him. So I think Ben Simmons ultra energize Brown. But very so when they lose it is Brown's fault. But when they win it's cow good, Ben Simmons. That's the way it works around here. It's so stupid Anwar like it's not fair. You can't say that every time that Ben Simmons fails. It's because Brett Brett Brown doesn't strategize correctly when they won fifty two games. And they beat the Miami, Heat and five games where was Brett Brown strategizing at that point. Did he have anything to do with that strategy was out coach? Why not greater storage? General why did bit at what has been last year? Why did you third this year? Because he has the ball. And he is a good passer. Do you want them to win? Okay. Anwar. How many in the two games he played against Kawhi Leonard with it with the with the Toronto Raptors this year, how many turnovers do you think he had in those two games you talking about how many in shoot in two games against? We can't we can't lower the bar anywhere. When we appreciate nineteen turnovers in two games that we can't lower the bar to. Well. He does this against these players teams if he's going to be a point guard, and they're gonna win a championship winning two point guard. He's got the play against great defenders defenders need to read some comments. Let's do it. All right. The Keith Pompeii comments section read dramatically here. This is a new segment on rights to Ricky Sanchez radio. So keep on pay is beat writer Philly dot com. But the comments section of his post is the best place on the internet, in my opinion. There's the first one this is after the Sixers beat the Lakers. Quote, Ben Simmons is not a solid outside shooter. That's gotta be one of the most understated observations of the year. Come on. Keith. You must be trying. Not to offend Ben. With this statement next one comes from after a Pompei Ron article saying JJ Radic is having an all-star type of season reply from Pedro JJ is not an all star Pompey's drinking again..

"Wow. They gotta get us. Get a some easy chairs in hair, curl. Yeah. These years are okay. But they're not Mealey's good. I would love to do rights retentions radio in recliners. Great. You know, what I think some some episodes some weeks, it might be more relaxed like extra playing well this week. Smoking jacket. Yes. That we thought you might need to be on a stool or something, you know, where you can sit up and really kind of tell everyone how you feel and that might be today because the Sixers spite they opened up last night. Yeah. I'm not surprised. They lost the game. Not surprised. They went to Boston lost. The Celtics are a better team in the Sixers that hasn't changed since last year. If anything the gap has grown, but the problem is last night looked nothing different than it did last year except the idea as it could have looked the Sixers decided to start Marquel? Foltz was a summer. We heard all about Marquel Fulton avenue shots. He was putting up into Janette was every single day. All I heard about Alzheimer's how many shots Markelle Fultz put up, and ultimately it didn't matter because when he played he didn't play very, well, he showed her unwillingness to shoot. And the Sixers looked worse with him on the court. Yeah. Much worse in that on offense. It seemed like they were playing four on five most of the time. I mean, the his first run in their felt like the ten minutes he played most of the first quarter. And when Simmons had the ball Foltz pretty much just stood there. Now, there was one run in the second quarter where he he sort of played point guard and made a couple of moves with the ball. But I think the toughest thing was he won't shoot it. And he he won't drive. So offensively specifically it was like they're playing four on five and with Ben's inability or unwillingness to shoot from the outside. It's almost like three hundred five at times when they threw the ball down to Embiid and Simmons and full on the outside the Celtics whole defense to to the paint. Because there's there's no reason to respect the idea. Either of those guys will shoot the ball if he kicks it out. Well, and that is one thing we talked about last week when we were doing this season preview talking about getting Joel Embiid easy button. And when you have two guys on the court. That will not shoot. All it does is make his life harder. Everything he does becomes harder. And I think when when he has bad turnover games like he he had last night. I think he at four in the first half. But the the more difficult it is for him to get position down there. The more. I think he gets progressively more. Frustrated, he gets progressively more tired and he makes worst mistakes as the game goes on. And I think having those two guys on the court with him is going to present a real challenge for them. It's a mess and the Sixers have created this one eight hundred eight seven to nine ninety four ninety four Brett Brown said Marquel? Polls is going to start. He started him. Now. I don't know if there is a concrete plan here moving forward, but I don't want more Celts in the starting lineup because I don't think you could play those two guys together you see right now with in less Foltz is willing to shoot the basketball. You can't play two guys in the court at the same time. You just said it the both are either unwilling or unable to shoot that's what they have in their back court combined for zero three point attempts last night. But you just can't have at least. Those two obviously JJ radical shoot threes. They've made their starting five worse. And I don't see what the point of all this. I think they have to start him. And and and that is coming from a guy who I am. I am hopeful, but pessimistic that is how I describe my feelings on on Marquel fault. I don't think even if he's good. I don't think he's going to be good enough in time to be good here. And by and large when I when I watch him not in terms of play. And I mentioned this earlier being like Evan Turner. It's more that when I watched Evan Turner. I sort of knew right away in my stomach that something wasn't right. And that's what I feel like when I'm watching Marquel stomach feelings the worst, and you pick out little things you're like, oh, look at that. He made you're like he's been playing for twenty two minutes. And that's but anyway, I think they have to start him in. Here's exactly what happened last night is what I was worried was going to happen with the Sixers and starting Marquel faults, and and they talked a big game. All off season. Brett Brett Brown though, though. He did preach patients talked about what a great going to have. They start him and they say okay in the second half. And by the way, I've been watching basketball since I was ten years old. So over thirty years, I can never remember a team starting one guy in the first half. And the one guy in the second half by plan every game that that's never been a thing that they're like we're going gonna start Marquel? And then we're going to bring him off the bench in the second quarter. So he can play point guard more. So we're in the first game. And he decides by the second half that not only will he not be the first guard off the bench. He won't be the second guard off the bench. He'll be the third guard off the bench behind TJ. Mccown McConnell and Landry Shamet. My big worry was that this team wants to win right now. And at the same time, they're promising you that they want to develop Marquel faults and those two things are impossible to do at the same time. And when you let the coach make that decision. He is going to make the decision to win. He is going to. Make the decision. We are worse with Markelle faults on the court, and what I'm telling you is this, and this is why I think they need to start it is you watch that game last night. And I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings because I am incredibly hopeful optimistic about Joel Embiid incredibly hopeful and optimistic about Ben Simmons. But this this team right now is like five miles behind the Celtics. They are. And you're not talking about a team of guys that has thirty one and thirty two years old. Jason Tatum is twenty years old. Jaylen Brown is twenty two years old, even Kyrie Irving is twenty five or twenty six years old. This is a team that's going to be here for a while. And on top of that they've got more draft picks that we've got they've probably got our kings pick next year. They've got the grizzlies pick you are far behind, and we don't have anything to trade unless that kid turns into something they need a third star. And the hail Mary of Marquel. Foltz either being that player or becoming good enough to trade is the only thing that they can at least try right now. So what I would tell you is will you lose more games by playing Markelle Fultz. Absolutely. Will you frustrate? Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Absolutely. Will you make the fans? Crazy. Absolutely. But it doesn't really matter this year because we are so far behind the Celtics right now that a hail Mary is the only thing we have. And I don't think they can afford not to play fault. See I don't want him on the court with 'em beedon Simmons. I can't I can't watch it personally. I can't watch. I know him. They're gonna make him be in Simmons worse by doing this not as player in time. But in the moment, they're gonna play worse because he is hurting the way they play it makes a team worse. They're trying to you're right. They're trying to do two things at once is trying to win. Now, they talked finals two weeks ago, right and developed this. They don't go together. Here's the problem. I think and I would agree on this part of it. They have to pick a lane and go with it this first half second-half nonsense makes no sense. No. And especially if you're gonna do it. They didn't even do it. They played Foltz what three more minutes in the second handling anything. And the other problem that it does cause is and they're both highly skilled, and I think they can figure it out. But at the present time, Ben Simmons and Joel embiid's games don't really fit with each other on offense. They're both great and great players can make it work. But they are if you if it makes it harder to throw entry passes because they sag off of you. And because you don't shoot there's no real pick and roll stuff at all. Because they don't respect you like they have enough to figure out on their own without another. Guy on the court that is that is causing those prop there. They have to foundation pieces, we know about Simmons, and it'd be they've actively they're making their lives harder by putting out there. That's hard for me to justify. I understand what you're saying understand the idea of the hail Mary. The man is tough to watch eight eight to nine ninety four ninety four should Markelle Fultz starting last night was not good. And I sent him. Look spike has the point of the hail Mary tried to develop this kid. And I just I can't watch this team. Go down early and games. He was minus sixteen last night. And the Celtics are better. But no one else was that bad on the Sixers. They were at their worst. When when Marquel was on the court last night regime, and northville, what's up regime? Hey, guys doing it's up, man. I kind of agree with you as far as you have to play car. But one of the things I can't say Brown needs to be a better. Kosher you're being outcoached. You're not calling into creative plays anybody open. I do wanna see Marco falls on the floor Ben Simmons because one game doesn't doesn't really explained your career as a whole the got fifteen games. If you go back to last year. So I think it takes time, and you could tell he was timid because when you hopping in a situation where estimates established player enjoy pizza separates clear, you're trying to fit in exactly you know, where can you make your point? So so so so that's you know, to me it's gonna take a while. And I do agree with you that you want to win now. And try to you know, try to, you know, look for the future for Markelle, folks. But it is that you have to do. But I definitely brand claimed threat. Ralph for not being a better coach. Supposed to do regime. The chemo cheat the the kid won't shoot the ball. Okay. And he was making Thurs you have to be creative to get. Nobody. He's making threes because he's taking them like he smart, Marcus smart is a lot of things he's not a lot of things to routinely. Appreciate he's at least willing to shoot. If he's wide open. Shoot almost to a fault. He is very confident in his twenty-seven percent. Three point twenty seven percent better than the guys that can't shoot at all. I the Brett Brown stuff. We may find out at a certain point that Brett Brown is not a good enough coach. But we certainly cannot blame. The fact hit Marquel fault smokes shooter make threes. I mean, the last time there was one possession where they sagged off him. And he chose not to shoot the basketball chance to shoot. I expect him to run up and down the court and just force threes..

"Know if if they would need to make a trade include a salary somebody wants a wants an expiring contract pretty good two way player experience athletic and so on that's something that could possibly happen but anyway they used that cap space they can't make an uneven trade before they could've traded bail eight point six million or lowery twenty whatever it is they could have done that they can't do that right now because they are kept out wow so and the leonard thing is that this recent story i i don't know if you've heard this story about leonard there was a report out on espn in texas that he'd been working out at a private facility in new york i believe it was in the team doctor is our team is exactly spurs executive came to see him they were hiding him the building and they like they put them somewhere like off limits so he wouldn't be they wouldn't even be him i did see that like you just don't even know what to believe at this point you know in terms of the information and so on but i mean i i know brett brett brown was aaron twenty eleven when they draft leonard out of san diego state number fifteen was a primary force in his development and i'm sure at this point you would think that if they get him here between handed stem and be they could convict them to stay i just don't know there's so much information it's so much conflicting information you just really don't know what to believe i just think it would be risky to give up several players in there are other reports that the spurs one full and reports of multiple first round picks for what could be a one year rental it just seems like it's realistic and option as you know perhaps some fans would like it to be who makes the call well now until they have a general manager i believe rep brown and brown made the ultimate ultimate call on the on the trade of bridges for smith and twenty twenty one miami pick so active now active leave he had the final say in conjunction with marc evers leeann josh harris and so on but as i understand it unless something has changed since june twentyfirst it would be brett brown so do knowing what his history with him it would seem to me more logical that he'd take that risk that he could talk them into staying it seemed like a it seems like it's worth the risk well i mean you could certainly there's one way of looking at it you could you could say that i mean it would assume he's healthy and plays and so on you know the top ten player in this league and take your shot and you hope we really liked it i mean they they would use poll georgia's example when he went to okay see his plan with my state oklahoma city but he likes playing there and you know he he was able to get the most money there and he resigned there despite all these reports that he was going to la don do etcetera etcetera coming back to the thunder so you could use that kind of as as an example of what what could happen if all goes well two fifty two inch one around the playoffs he would bring something they really need it both ends of the court again assuming he's healthy there are no issues with a quad or anything else tom i'm curious you talk about this all the time and nobody has been in the sixers locker room over more over the last thirty years than you so you seen and talk to so many players in that span everything that the sixers have going for them in terms of lebron now out of the conference and they coming off the fifty two win season the arrow pointing straight up and it's you against boston they have all the money in the world to spend on a guy like hawaii leonard to where if he comes to not only does he get paid and be a premier star along with embiid and simmons but they have a chance to represent the east for years to come i can't see how just the simple lore of california can outweigh all of that you mean in terms of lebron in terms of colli if you were to acquire him on that risk yeah i that all sounds reasonable and.

"Who's marketable and get somebody's top tier aa or aaa guy who can promote in september and say hey yeah this guy is going to be on this roster next april so you can kind of short change you know quick quick rebuild not necessarily were tearing this thing down to the studs we're going to be like brett brett brown and philly you know and trust the process and we're going to lose one hundred for the next five years like the astros did on saying is you know dial it back get some get some top tier get the nationals best prospect for cueto get get the you know somebody else's best prospect for mccutchen and then all of a sudden maybe you take those two or three young foundation peace prospects and you market those guys as the new era of giants baseball i don't know i just think that the the fans here they twenty six thousand second half of the year last place worse than baseball 2017 worst record in the game you know these decisions are gonna make them selves by you know you can hold off the though the desire to rebuild i know that they don't have an appetite for that but at some points what you got to sell something to your fans and i don't know that you can sell older castoffs from other organizations nor look if i owned the team if i'm the giants owner i'm spending two hundred and six million dollars on payroll only the red sox are spending more i want i.

"Ball enough and i'm screaming we were driver i'm sure thought i was insane every time he got the ball in the post they doubleteam to be turned it over that's not bread brown's fall but everybody that night and philly wanted brett brett brown's head on a rail okay he's the guy that shepherds this but now we need a real coach to take his ford and i'm like you silly people you have about the most real coach i can think of who learned at the feet of gregg popovich who has a wonderful curiosity about the game who has a great way with players and by the way i covered him at boston university he was a pretty decent low will division one player that got the absolute most visibility so newest how to do that too so that dromi crazy i don't mind telling well now now we can use brett brown as an entree into a referendum on the process because jackie yet what does bread brown feel do you think about everything he went through under sam hinky through that whole experience what do you think prep brown thinks when he looks back at those years in which all of us were debating the finer points of sports ethics well i think his fiercely loyal to sanctions should be sample gave an opportunity and i think the two of them still talk but brits brown's human and coaches wanna to win because they know that they'll be judged on wednesday losses let's let's talk about the longterm view of brett brown no one's going to be talking about his one australian background and dogs wasn't fit ons called again looking at the blue healers or any of that they're going to look at is reckoned say man this guy was a dog and self the first few years he could.
