"Impossibly ruin. The undertaker winning his last match. Instinct Shows A. Distraction Adam kogen spiked. And then studying comes in a ring, and he gives Adam Co his finish to. And sting is able to pay homage to take to undertake. That's that's wrestling. Tell stories allow the story to be told. That's what the undertaker say, and if you don't have goosebumps from what I just said, you are dead inside. Dead. That is like you tell the stories. That's what a tournament will allow to happen. And it will be good TV follows. I'm fired up man. Maybe. We'll find out some answers. The final chapter, the undertaker's last Reid rule. We get an answer. Did have we seen the last of the undertaker? Not even in the ring I mean if you look at it. The Bone Yard match was hardly a quote, unquote match, or is there one more left in them? Judging from what we heard last chapter last Sunday. It seemed like he's done. We'll find out. Maybe we'll get some answers on Sunday this week on world basketball chilly riddick Kevin Pangalos to former Gonzaga. Stars joined our show. Kelly spoke about his love playing for the Canadian national. Not made. Playing for your country, represent your country and. No. Canada's done. You know law for me, so is the United States now given opportunities to do a lot of things in your life. Know giving you the opportunity to live great. And so it's for me. It's kind of a way to give back to our country. New Episodes of world of basketball are available every Thursday on the Sirius. Xm App Pandora and Apple podcasts. Now only you hear Marquette Nery. And busted open, but you can also see him from time to time on backstage wwe. I think very good. I think a very good episode. This past Tuesday with bread heart some interesting comments to Ma from Bret Hart on backstage. Wow Man, you know what the biggest one! Was He? He said that he wished that he could have done it differently and if he had, he would not have left the wwe and went to Debussy deb your. And? Think about all the people that. You know after Brit left. All the people that came in. Imagine him still wrestling? All of those guys in? Bringing those guys along like it would have been unbelievable. Thought another thing that was. Pretty impactful was the fact that he felt like he was set up to fail. Like the guys that were the powers-that-be. He said Hogan was basically. Making all the decisions and he made the decisions that benefited his friends. Rather than doing what was good for Business House like? Wow, so I mean it didn't paint a pretty picture of the. Of, hoving, in, his regime. It's it's interesting because Reading Bret Hart's book. He praises Hogan because he talked about. You know when you're on the card with Hogan. He definitely made more money than without hogen on the card and I've always said that I've never been a big hole cogan fan, but I will say this that he did know how to generate a crowd I think he is. One of the biggest stars in the history of pro wrestling when you look at WCW with Bret Hart, I mean first of all nothing seemed to go right. They waited too long to put bread hard on TV I. Mean Bret Hart was. You know so hot and fresh off. The Montreal screw that people wanted to see Brad. Hart, and then the bread hard as part of that star Cave match with sting in Hogue, and it just didn't go that match was a flop. Flop The to build was fantastic for that Star K bachelorette sting and Hogan but I thought the ending was wonky. I thought Hogan got way too much offense in that match with sting because it should have been all about, stink kicking, Hokuto Gonzales but and then you know obviously with Goldberg and hearts been vocal lately about Goldberg and how you know. He didn't think that Goldberg was really safe in the ring caused. You know breadth that concussion and Bret Hart's. Career ending yeah. Bret heart went from such a know such an amazing hall of fame career in the WWF didn't have that same career in WCW Marken, but you can't really blame bread hard for the contract that he had with the WWF. That lifetime contract you know Vince McMahon wanted to change that contract and WCW was throwing a lot of money at Eric Bischoff in the www was throwing so much money at heart hard to say no, so obviously I'm sure he would have changed it. Because not a lot of good and bright hearts. WCW Career Martin and he didn't get respected and revered over there like he didn't get he he. He said he mentioned. I had a lot to offer like not just for me, but just my knowledge and understanding of what the business required and what I could do. To help make people better and they didn't allow me to do that. It was like I was set up to fail. Wow. Words have those heavy as rehabbing. That is definitely heavy backstage. They give you nuggets man. You've been awesome on backstage by the way mark. Yes, thank you very much. Dave, I will be on this Tuesday as well. All right, awesome, awesome make sure you tune into wwe backstage on F s one Tuesday nights. "And all the hype and all of the billion dollar deal hype that we talked about. Leading up to smackdown, moving to Fridays on Fox, you know we, we heard and kind of somewhat you assumed the Fox wanted any more sports oriented getting a little bit more than two wins and losses a little bit different presentation than maybe we're all had been. And maybe in some ways we've gotten that in little pieces. If you analyze but this I guess this is the first time since October I. Guess WWe really just went back to that as mark, said that that low brow in the gutter. Yeah. I mean it happens. But Marc and Justin this is. This is really interesting. This is an interesting story to me. Because what did Fox expect that they were getting because this is a network that had married with children. This is a network that has you know the simpsons, so I mean you know a splash of urine in the face? Isn't really lock compared to some of the stuff that we've seen on their shows in the past, but at the same time just and it sounds like hey, they're looking at a smackdown as a part of their foxsports families so not necessarily their entertainment family so I think that's probably where the divide is. Justin and you hit the nail head about that's my thought, too, and I and I don't know for sure. That's something to certainly to try to look. Look into, but I'm sure that I guess that the executives that are probably overseeing keeping tabs with the program with Vince, maybe Bruce Prichard are the ones who oversee the category of their sports program. It's not the same people that do look at the simpsons and some of the The traditional entertainment scripted program so and and and maybe that's something that Fox will find as they are locked in for this deal for five years I think. Maybe, that's something that Fox will find You know what maybe? Maybe our sports exacts Dole shouldn't be overseeing the standards and practices guidelines of this. Maybe we need to give it to the the more entertainment based. I don't know that. That's something certainly to watch here as we are still in year one of this long term relationship, good point, good point, yeah, and it's week one of our relationship with Justin Labar mark. I thought Justin did an awesome job today. What do you think of a job quote Pat Patterson? Here was awesome. Hanging from the rafters dig go banana. Mark Mark Do you, Think Fox's standards and practices would have been okay with sexual chocolate. Rarely was able to get sex Jacqueline on TV. Jagged will get kicked off. Many made a chocolate Sundae out of me before. Oh my gosh, it's too much. Oh my Gosh! Well Justin. Thank you so much I I don't know if you have any. Any any Father Day memories when it comes to pro wrestling because that seems. For today show. You know honestly a Non Ruth my dad I agree dad, but he. He would come to wrestle event. Maybe if they were serving beer, you know, but I wasn't real big interesting. I will say though I will say the first time that had a big. It's not a father's Day, but it's the best memory I have if I, Dad relating to wrestling, is that The first, the first big match that I got to work with working on the independent scene in two thousand eleven. It was it was. It was the payoff in zone I pay per view to a yearlong storyline with Ohio was me. Managing Kevin Nash in a main event match, and on the other side of the ring was a guy named Brodie Lee and I. I got my mom and my dad, and and now my wife, and they all came out, flew to Cleveland. They had front row and and like my dad. Actually like gave me like a like. I'm pretty. This is pretty cool. I'm pretty proud of you. And like you never really never really got in a or understood or appreciated the the art that is so. When he said that that was a huge like a big moments of me, but nothing with my dad, I will say my my five year old daughter value. It s really good memory. Thirty damn good. August wasn't father's Day, but it's a good bonding memory I have there that he came out to Cleveland and and it took time out on a Sunday and watch this thing and the House your daughter. Might my daughter's five, and she does like to She does like to saddle up a watch wrestling at from time to time with me, she actually I. There is a la- Greco head somewhere in the studio, and she always makes note of of Dave the head as she comes into this in this room of the studio so we got a lot of memorabilia back. There was the was the thing you the most proud of. I. You know I have a I do have an old. The I have a world title belt the title bout they switched to. Raise stone cold beat Sean Mania Fourteen, and that was the last the wing eagle their wings. Well, they're the wing one that they did away with that they moved to the new bigger one. The one that Steve Hate exit actually cut him when he tried to stunner I have that in another room signed by Kurt Angle, so that's pretty nice Actually have a wrestlemainia thirty six chair, and when nobody should go to Wrestlemania thirty-six Use Your. my guys ticket to get through and and Sapolu Jeff. We all went to the raw and the Manhattan Center in two thousand, eighteen have that share over here which I love, I never thought my lifetime I get to watch a Roth of Manhattan Center, so to be third row watching that that was a huge. You know, see the undertaker come out in the Manhattan Center. Yeah, that's cool. That's. Different different shares memories like that well the next time you do this segment Justin. If you could find the ahead and put it up there on display. That would be nice. Know represent. We go. I miss seeing that Justin with no fans. I miss seeing McGregor ahead on these shows Justin. I think we saw career. They were doing baseball and they put a bunch of cardboard cutouts. A fans that have baseball I think we should do a whole bunch of Dave cutouts and just fill fill the PC within we're. We're ready to go right. I mean I'm trying to get on cody's good side, so we got Scott and Long Island made special cody. Rhodes busted open head. So you know cody if you're if you're listening. He did Scott Hall now David. Greco it's a bit of a drop-off. There you go just thank you so much. I thought this was awesome. Can't wait to talk to you next week. Absolutely, you guys next week. "One hundred also. Oh would not was not gonNA do anything to go against what Vince wanted to do. As far as the Venice is concerned and then had his heart set a Guinness this thing. Thank Britain done and so anybody that that tried to screw that concept or that That idea was going to be in for or a bad bad day. Crossing a boss in that on that level ain't smart it's a it's a hell of a moment here Because when these guys are face to face in the ring of course Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels Bret wants to take the opportunity to quote. Bury the hatchet and call a truce and Sean says you know before you come out here and get your closure of one to tell you this for twelve years. He deserved what happened. Twelve years ago in Montreal disrespected me in this business and yes I had a hand in what Vincent went did that night and of course the fans turn on and they're chanting you screwed breath and bread just says arrest my case and then they get down the rabbit hole a little bit that when he thinks of Bret Hart. He doesn't think of Montreal. He thinks of their match at Wrestlemania. Twelve and how the redefined the business that not at least his opinion and then he says. Are you sure you're ready to do this. And you know Brad says let's be honest. You are an easy to get along with but you had a great career not to and this shouldn't define US and Marfa Nima a hand in friendship all real all real now. Conrad I'll this shit you read right nows all real unrehearsed unwritten from their heart. But they knew in their mind on what they wanted to say because they had been wanting to say it for a long long time so it may sound like they had this promo memorize. AH The reality in the rubber meets the road here. They've probably been saying that homeowner head for years. Well of course you know the and Shaun t's there's GonNa be some physicality it looks like Sean is going to set up a super kick but of course that doesn't happen. There's the handshake the big hug. And Sean looks to be whispering excelling in two breaths ear and Brett looks a little less enthused with the hug but still and then afterwards sean leaves has music plays and he's Outta here and Brezza something like Come on Vinnie. Don't keep the people waiting and calls. Winston ran to the ring and what to start to the show later. We should mentioned that. Justin Roberts does introduced Mr McMahon. Obviously there's a lot here that people are expecting and and he says I'm hoping that you simply say to me. I'm sorry how much of this whole Brett McMahon McMahon Promo do you think was discussed before instill just Muller Little Punch bullet points is this. It was real organic banik. Everybody knew how they felt. Everybody knew or talking about everybody knew were going. So did you memorize lines to say what was on your mind. That's the fans can't understand because today's shit is so written structured. Got A writer for this guy for that. You know. I don't want my froma. Well then why don't you create your own from. Oh you asshole God dammit. You're making a shitload of money. And your and your bitching about your copy or are you kidding. Being meet bless your heart write your own shit then an and if it's good I promise you it will air so that face at Jericho did on January. I was absolutely brilliant..

"Either way it's a big deal when TNA tries to make at this move when you first hear that this is the plan TNA is going to Monday nights as you think. This was a bone headed idea or worth a shot all. I'm glad I did it because you know it would settle issues once for all you know that we're we're going to be the dominant brand Monday night. Come hell or high water. We'd earned that right through the eighty three week debacles and asked opens we were Oklahoma and they were LSU eighty three weeks. It wasn't fun. So so I I nobody. Our place was was worried. Concern might be a good word. I'M NOT HELL I don't know but you know what I mean is. We're aware we had. We had competition. We had to get good. We had produced a better product all the stuff that competition brings you. Competition folks. Folks is good for wrestling. The best thing for Monday night. Raw Right now if you WANNA make raw better put another show against a son viability and I'm talking about. Aws talking about Ah some other group but that you get better when he got competition as what makes games industry that's why they keep score for God's sakes it's it really is just make sense so I it wasn't an intimidating. Thank you know. Look individually. There's a the talent you name. Conrad is a tremendous addition to tremendous roster. I should say but I didn't ever believe the for some reason that they had the leadership and that one person in place where they had complete autonomy to do as he or she chose and because of that not having that person there Prada acknowledged with a one decision maker. I didn't think they could ever be successful. I am curious. Do you think that Vance wanted to stamp out any potential. You know big I live for. TNA So let's do the biggest most unthinkable thing we can. Let's get Brent Heart back into the fold you think that will some strategy about not just having him come back. We're having him come back on this particular show. I don't think it was the only strategy for starting off the year. The Bang for the obvious reasons I show the year. Make it big. You know we did that in Jacksonville to the night with. Aws W awesome show. But there's a lot of motivation. The fans are motivated the TV audience as motivated and You know our talents are motivated because it was the first show the years Newgen so I think that we are more excited about that but to say I'll be lying to the audience here and I don't do that. Shit yeah it was. It was an issue of course if we can have a great show on the on the on New Year's night loaded New Year's night show and it happened to be against it's the debut a TNA then so be it but Then and the hello they. They had a good night to that night. No question question. Let's keep it Movin. Let's talk about that day. The creative we know is going to be Brenton. Sean in here together. which which is Kinda Weird On the other channel Dave pincers going to introduce Hulk Hogan live on impact. Meanwhile here on Raw Justin John Roberts Introduces Bryant. Heart breath comes out on stage. He stood out. The long hair is still got the leather jacket. Now's rock and the Jean Shorts and Jerry lawler on commentary says something like you know it's been more than a decade sitting seen Bret Hart including me and He starts his Promo. Oh by saying well. I guess he'll froze over. Talks about how a lot of people WANNA know why here tonight and why now. And he said he's had a lot of time to think about all things has been twelve years and it's an amazing feeling to be here. He's trying to find ways to come back over the years. But Vince would always declined to say it wasn't possible they says it's great to be back now you can finally talk to the WWe universe and There's a big welcome back chanting. And he says something like it's nice to be back as we continue to sort of move through this. He's thanking the universe for your Torquay flag and saying he hasn't been gone another says written. It's just off the top of the kids off the cuff off. The head is in for improvising. He's talking from his heart art so the things he said it was repetitive. Some of the things. If you're wordsmith you might not you might not do but it was a real honest legitimate intimate promo and it showed you that. He wanted to get this off his chest. He wanted to cleanse himself as best. He could of any existing being an ongoing animosity between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart because that was just chip away at one negative though he could continue to do that and get things positive around him again. He was being very honest. And at Promo and the other issue is that when Shawn comes out you got shaw being the same way Sean. Sean was very honest about what he what he said and he meant every word he said so all the sudden you get you get a promo. Oh that's not written by writer. WHO's looking for this sh and these two guys out deliver classics and those are the promos? You and I are talking about today. Ten years later that other people are talking about as well ten years later. That's money he puts over. This is the same building where he Won The very first king of the ring and then he says he needs to get some things office. Chess any calls Shawn Michaels to the ring. Of course this is not just off. The cuff has had to be discussed ahead of time talking to him a little bit about. Well you look just. You're mixing mixing metaphors here. The dialogue was was. They knew the general direction because they both knew they wanted to make McKee's but the structure who called out who and how to reduce the interview. Yeah that was but nobody knew exactly what was going to be said once Sean got the ring or whatever it's two to different pieces of business there but yeah there was a a plan to to to stage it in a block it off production standpoint did I guess my question is has when we're seeing it in the ring that day. It's not the first time Britain. Sean saw each other that day or did they get together. Backstage privately ahead of time I think they they saw each other backstage. Yeah so I think they I think they kind of broke the ice a little bit and and I don't I don't I don't think they went over the Promo. Ah Luxembourg's cats do now going to other match in Leslie. How how two guys two women to anybody's can spend twenty or thirty minutes going over a five minute match beyond me this? It defies mathematics and logic but nonetheless. I'm sure that that building was not a huge arena. Notre Center there in Dayton Dayton Ohio And I'm sure that they always show that during the day. I don't know how they could have not seen each during the day unless they decided to come late and but not been on on a live TV day knowing what piece of business are going to be talking it because you can be sure to ask that both. Those guys knew long before they got the Ohio. What were they? Were going to do Monday night. That isn't what they're going to say. Or how other out was going to go. But they knew basically what they were going to do in structure. Let's talk a little bit about You know when when you put together a segment like this. It's a big segment on the show. How how hard and fast are you on commercial breaks? I know that there are soft breaks. His heart breaks in hard outs and just from a production standpoint. Is Anybody going to be able to say we gotta get breadth to hurry up or do you just have commercials ready to go and whenever the segments over the segments over. Yes ladder you. You don't you don't WanNa you don't want to manipulate our views. The creative on a moment like that. This is created that you can't reproduce this can't replicate Israel and Israel and it can't be done again just like tonight goes tonight's the first time that that these two guys have been back in the rain together looking at is that close. I mean there. Sean was a super kick away kicking retina. Heads because it was close quarters so that was the mystique the mystery of it That deal but They were they they. Ah Nobody knew what they're going to say they didn't go the ring. Go over from almost trying to tell people it wasn't what you walk through it are. Here's your here's your script go back and you're reading it for Mike level. I don't remember it being a script and this deal might be wrong. Shit folks but I never sawant and I and I've sat ringside. I didn't see any Any rehearsals on this matter. So we use a unique deal man. This is is a very unique day wasn't a typical pro wrestling promo but people are going to judge that way because they don't know better talk to me a little bit about the rest of the crew you know we've talked about Brett and Sean our issues and and and how that's going to be resolved sort of in the ring But what about everybody else specifically golic triple h who was once upon a time the quote unquote little buddy of Shawn Michaels and now force twenty ten things news of changed quite a bit aaa now behind the scenes in a big way for the company. was anybody nervous or was it different. What was anything different about this? TV Day where breakfast back or is it pretty much business as usual very much Venice's usual and that's the way it should have been. I think everybody wants to be that way but tribulations loyalties as we can see evidence. Today are always wanting to lean toward Sean. They're legitimately good friends it's not about being tagged partners or the Dax all that shit. That's US fiction. They're legitimately it good friends and in the wrestling business as a dream would say there. Ain't you can count got any gosh told me when I got into Venison Gal wrestling kid taking name five great friends a one hand. You'll be very fortunate by great great wrestling France and here. I am forty something years later and I can say that's pretty damned accurate because the the business breeds mistrust and conning in the work and so easy caught up in that bullshit so the ones that ride the storms out in in the highways and rough waters. That don't do that in a stand by your got your back. There are few and far between so Schon and hunter had that con relationship.

You may have had this because you're a higher order big time car guy all this other shit flare son-in-law everything you're everything I had lobster pot pie. Oh that's great. That's good stuff. Jeff ever a have hunting vegas years ago. There's one restaurant on out there and I forget I think it might be an MGM grand and all heard over and over and over was she got to go there and have lobster PA PA which would never normally been on my radar. Then had it was on time these are like little video look like little Davey little. Divvy tenants succo silicon pies back in the day. Sure there but that's is kind of a little appetizer thing Collie I mean I. I could have died there. I'm not I was. I had to get away from it because I I can understand what people that get hooked on crack and shit like that how they a prisoner to their to their vice. My God it was just it humbled me so it was a fun deal. That was a great eight time and concentrate hosts and on Monday. I did a bunch of media and The Roy Moore if you had a great idea there was those folks in mock sewer. Their costs Tennessee. Playing in the gator bowl against Indiana and so we did an interview with the At their request Knoxville station that encouraged fans come from there were in Tampa gain. Come join us on Wednesday night. Twenty bucks ticket. You know the next day next night's game so you gotta get another a little something to do. They're all in your Jacksonville trip and I looked in the crowd On that Wednesday night New Year's night hell there was Tennessee Tennessee or hard to miss. Yes yes it. Is You know what you love or you hate them. It's just our dimiss and they certainly President there so we had a real good representation it daily slaves. Innocent isn't venue to were you there and we do that first. Event I was. It was awesome in the U.. Is probably the most unique wrestling venue you've ever seen. I don't have to agree amphitheater. It's an amphitheater. Folks pretty cool so and the crowd is a good shot at a good good view. This there's no bad vantage point. So does it was fun. So I've done that and and like I said had another birthday moved on from that deal now firmly in the back of my dadgum lie. So that's all good so everything's assign a team not humiliated. But here's the thing sometimes. Conrad we hate to admit this for our beloved programs your Crimson tide me my sooners sometimes. Sometimes the other teams are simply better or they played a better game on that day. And that's the that was the case. Ace was double whammy. They had a great game on that day did L. Lsu. And there're better team than Oklahoma quite frankly so it was a good experience. Nice new years the only thing I regret not doing and I gotTA figure this out. I gotTA look at Etiquette and Protocol on superstitious for two years I did not have blackout teas and Collard Green. Um I'm very distraught about that. I'm kind of concerned honestly so I've got to make up for that. I got to figure out how to do that but I maybe late light is better than ever if you're unaware that is an old school southern tradition on New Year's Day and what one of the traditions in professional wrestling is the talk about about the best. There is the best there was the best there ever will be bret. Hart is the subject of our grill and jr today. We're GonNa talk about something that happened. I can't believe it tin years ago. Last week This past Saturday was the ten year anniversary of something we thought we would never see. Essentially Hell freezing over Bret Hart would return to the WWE and I guess we should give you the heads up here. That on December twenty eighth we knew it was going to happen than it had been in the dirt sheets for weeks that Vance was talking to breadth and they announced him as the special guest host of the January fourth. Ralph the very first raw of two thousand ten and then make that announcement just a few days after Christmas. Two Thousand Nine December twenty eighth. So it's a big deal the have Bret Brett back in the fold. I'm curious sort of behind the scenes. How in touch where you with bread from nine hundred ninety seven to two thousand ten very sporadic and not intentionally? He was not mad at me nor was I mad at him. Conrad it's just our our trails. took us in different. Directions never lost respect for Brett. I know that in the beginning of that Montreal screw the job. That may still covet and a lot of talk about And we're GONNA talk about a little bit this context of what we're working for. We're getting here but I I I. I always had respect for him and I never had a crossword but I think because he knew that I was working so closely with events that that I had to be in on it and You know that will say this man. He protected me from being in on it I was not in on it and because he did not want me to lose the credibility that worked so diligently in hard to bill with talent because it would be perceived that I turn my back on the talents to do only Vincent this is bidding and all that may be true at the end of the day for a lot of people. It's not always the way it is and you can never not put your talent first period football players wrestlers actors entertainers of any kind. That's the show. Treat them good give him a good presentation presentation or surroundings. That's going to work out so bottom line is I never had any issues a writ. We didn't talk much. I'm trying to think we've bumped into each other somewhere aware. It was a little awkward but not only offer because of what had transpired in our joint lies for example you know Owen Owen passing a Bra in the Montreal Business Ninety seven the fact that he had a stroke broke La. Our lives had changed immensely. Now I can't remember where I was at point now always battling a facial paralysis so I was somewhere in that same progress saint transition but he was always he always decent each other no issues. I think the preparing the show on the notes that she provided me and they're going back and researching my own stuff just trying to remember you know. I think this whole thing was a Brett coming. Back was a mutual Of mutual a mutual thing done with an Vince. I think one of Matisse to some degree because everybody's always gonNA say well it's always about the money so he made peace by booking a pay per view match where they can sell out of pay per views and make more money. Well well. Let's also be understanding that if they made more money in Britain was in that match and Brett also made more money. So that's not a that's not a lose lose so I kind of think that was how that was. I think both guys had gotten to a point in their life to where making peace in an and renewing a mutual respect that they'd had for many many years ears was a whole lot more valuable than holding onto grudges and animosities lay the groundwork occur meltzer would say according to a WW source. It would have full knowledge of the situation. Brandt heart fifty two signed a short term talent contract with. WWe This past week covering covering a period of January first through April tenth or through Wrestlemainia and about two weeks after the March Twenty Eighth Show in Glendale art simply simply told us. Does he wasn't going to lie about anything. And thus wasn't going to say anything about the story it will said that heart wanted to keep his signing quiet it and the return to be a surprise but the WBZ couldn't help itself and went ahead and announced it publicly on the first draw after the ink was drawl after the equals draw. Easy for me to say The storyline star Dennis Miller guest host was having a conversation with Vince. McMahon and McMahon asked Miller who he'd liked sees a featured guest host Miller said Bret the Hitman Hart and McMahon of course said Br hasn't been on Rawson Brent screwed Brenton stormed off and meltzer would say the deal has been talked about for several months. Perhaps as far back as Summer Slam and one source and W W confirmed to US months ago that they had expected Brad in for a program not a one shot appearance that the negotiations were at a level. He thought those legitimate shot of it happening and after the story was reported here. Brett never denied the story but always tried to play it down and I guess we should mention that back in two thousand and two eight years prior to this five years after the screw job Brett will spoken about refereeing a match wrestlemainia but he turned it down and then the two thousand six McMahon told the writing team heart had agreed to do the program coming wing off of survivor series and that he would be doing a street fight at Wrestlemainia. But of course Brent had a lot of challenges at at the end of his career we should mention that The Aaron kick from Bill Goldberg Stark Aid. Ninety nine as provided such a severe concussion. Yeah that's essentially going to be the end of Bret Hart's in ring career. He would take a few more matches here there. But those were probably ill-timed it's a major major concussion. He never fully returns and ultimately he's fired but WCW and just the age of forty three. I can't understand this. I can't understand this on and you helped me figure this out. Anybody that followed Brett's medical history and challenges that he had that many perceive re was as a result of that kick that Eric accidental kick Then maybe led to his bicycle accident where he got banged up again and hit his head so forth. I never went when all that talk going on. This had the idea to come up with a great angle that he could book he would control control. It was it was it was suggested by the writing team Etcetera Etcetera Vinci's idea like back in the old days where they tried and true commodity such as Bret. Hart art how anyone could have realistically but we that there would be a match any ill is beyond me right. It's like ask well just wrestling. I play fighting. So they'll be all right well first of all this is not a skill worker. He's very stiff and he's very awkward. At times I've been told by his adversaries. All additives kisses ass. He wouldn't offer that he just stood. Stood there So I didn't get. He didn't beat me up on that one but the the The the the idea of red red having a match with skill set in Britain. Coming off a stroke. I thought it'd be incredible. Really do we really think that was going to happen. And and what happened. They had an ash. Really have a match..

WWE legend Bret Hart tackled during hall of fame speech
"Twenty six year old in custody after jumped into the ring and tackled Bret the hitman Hart during the WWE hall of fame ceremonies last night at the Barclay center. "I think thank God for Bret Hart Jerry Lawler, because they they disguised everything Glenn was very green. It's time and didn't probably really didn't belong in that spot. But you had Lawler and Brett to kinda get him through it. So made passable wasn't great once on to ride home go. Oh my God. Did you see Bret Hart is a Kim? Good. So Brittany come have a rematch on raw in Lawler suspended in a cage over the ring. And after a while into the match he kept saying he was scared heights in his nose starts to bleed and Lawler would explain in his book that it had a deviated septum. And he had no idea exactly what points to the nose did it, but he'd never even had a broken nose. But for whatever reason one nasal passage was much narrower than the other. And if you ever had trouble breathing he'd use a nasal spray. But whenever that stuff we're off. You'd have to open that passage backup again, you'd give scab on the inside. And sometimes feel like it was closing up. And he would have a big. Nose bleed. So he screaming events. Don't raise me up. Scared heights any reaches up and pulls the scab out and starts to bleed. I mean, what an old pro fucking Lawler is to even think of that. Right. Absolutely genius. Because we're watching it. And we know he was going to do that. And no clue but it was part of you is thinking did he take something up there too? Right. I is he squirting blood up his nose and run down like that. And but it was ingenious because I'm afraid of heights. And when some people get too high up their nose bleeds, something else Lawler dead that was pretty innovative in not just that blood spot, but he would wrestle enhancement talent. And a lot of times he would do it with a microphone in the ring with him. So he'd do commentary on his own match. That's like fucking genius as that his idea to talk through that. I love that was Vinci's ideas away to get Jerry to do color commentary. And why would he do it on his own match down and Lawler had a hard time with it at first because it's kind of awkward to try and have a match and do commentary through the whole thing and find ways to get your opponent down. And what the hell are you gonna do? Do. So in the very beginning. It was tough. But he he got the flow of it after a while. But that was something Vince just loved to hear him. Hear him do is own commentary on his own match on TV somewhere in here. The start to make some announcer changes and DOK Hendrix comes in and actually replaces Jerry Lawler. And then Jerry moves over to superstars. What's the what's the rationale and more Markle Hayes, less Jerry Lawler. No. We were just looking for change change it up shake it up some new seasons. New times, they often just shake it up. And I'd really tried to get Michael in for a long time. And would get the same answer. You know, God damn that luck look at him. So we finally made it happen. And there was what the hell was going on. We just needed that. Void and we needed him quick. So Michael came in and just like Lawler, he hit it off with Vince right away. And they had chemistry going back and forth. And I always thought that Michael I think Michael's one of the best play by play guys are colored guys in the business for he'll wow about that. Glowing going V there. Let's talk about that survivor series. This is something that we've never spent a lot of time on survivor series nineteen ninety five and it's an interesting time in the company because you've got undertaker fought to Henry. Godwin and salvio Vega. Taking on Jerry Lawler, hunters, Townsley, king, Mabel, and Isaac yank them, fourteen minutes and twenty one seconds. What did you think of the match Meltzer would say not much for wrestling? But the booking was good game in have. God you look look that lineup undertaker fought to lead to be rookie..

"Welcome back to tights and fights on how Loveland I'm doing today by Lindsay coke and. Mio is that for me Christopher? That we'd never tell anyone. There's like that we go through and never want anyone in advance. We're not good people. Always a surprise. We got this. Gotcha journalism that everybody talks about wrestling is built on storytelling. So he can last as little as one day or as long as several years. But there are a few that are testament to wrestling's narrative ability, we like to take a look at the beats that make up these stories in a segment, we call the beatdown point. I can legitimately say don't think I've ever heard that before have I heard that is that new it was mostly new this part. You give them a beat. And then this is. Here too. Shoulders. Even though the early nineties were mixed bag for WWF financially. There were two stars that overcame the hardships and defined the air for the company. That's the Harper kid. Shawn Michaels and Bret the hitman Hart semi hearts now before we get into it you, and I both huge Bret Hart fan, which I just learned how that goes, Chris where did you fall on the on the Brett versus Sean spectrum? Okay. It sounds like there might be some tension about the brew because not only do I vote Sean over brag, I might say that respectfully while intensely respectful of his skills. Give it to heart of me that feels like Brett might be the lowest on the lowest rung on my ladder of people ever asked. Jerry recognized the talent. But oh my God. He's more. Painful painful, fair, very. But but also really really painful, let's jump in a little bit deeper. Of course, they both broke into the company's tag stars Michaels with mardi Janetti as part of the rockers and heart with his brother-in-law. Jim the envel- night heart as the Hart foundation recipe's those two teams who had been petitioning to wrestle one. Another finally got their chance once and it was so bad that it didn't even make TV. But the reason why the middle rope broke, and that kind of messed everything up, but historically car wreck on that's the worst ever been at a match where like one of the ropes breaks gets loose all the sudden. And suddenly, stop it. While ring crew comes out, I'll freaked out. It is the worst. I always feel bad for everyone in that situation. Awkward so awkward, Chris. You mentioned Awa being on ESPN. Did you watch the rockers at all the midnight rockers when they were in the W A. Did you did you sort of watch them make their journey into WWF? I saw them a couple times. But I I was a little too young to piece together everything. Worked back then. So the rockers were pretty fresh to me as far as when they showed up the WF. I remember reading about them in pro wrestling illustrated. And then all of a sudden they were WWF was like, this is amazing. They're gonna win everything. And they didn't sure didn't do the opposite of that most of the time, but the heart foundation had been there. I think wrestlemainia to their first wrestlemainia they were they were like, really great heels. I always thought Bret Hart was really interesting. I think I like, Jim the anvil might heart more because he had that big beard. Yeah. Very and stating to a child Santa Claus. I got it. I got it right away. Now, he was so charming, and that was something that as much as I love tote, Steve's it was showing him kind of at the end of his life, and like as we've talked about here. Sometimes we joke about it. But wrestling does take a cost on your body. Looking at those early. Clips of like Jim Knight hurt who was that ever a super funny and charming human?.

Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Ricky, triple eight rob van dam and Goldberg so close shaven Steve Austin to be so flare Steve Austin and macho men, yeah, I'd pay to see that. Shit who's who's taken that? Obviously who's that's a tough call. I was thinking maybe during certain decades or periods. But no any decade or period. "The belt is probably most anonymous with Shawn Michaels, and Bret Hart the ultimate warrior macho man, whatever. Well, perfect smashes it up with a belt. And I think a lot of people believe this is the same belt that is in fact, not the case Mel Phillips wound up with that belt and sold it to a private collector and bags like ziplock bags full of the pieces, and the belt that you guys have here is a different Reggie parks world title that you smashed up and put duct tape on whose idea was it to us that Bill and then who actually designed it and smashed it up and put the tape on it. Grinchey Posner is the one who actually smashed it and give it all up. But I'm pretty sure that was another venture so idea during his time with Vince McMahon had rider that they came up with this and use that and for the longest time. Frankly, I thought it was of the old perfect belt. But. It was ridge Posner creation Meltzer would write in the newsletter about a week ago when the WWF was in Greensboro fan gave make Foley a handmade world hardcore champion belt. So maybe that's where this idea came from new you remember it being a Foley idea. Or was this something that was suggested by somebody else on the team? I remember this being kind of that Genesis of the I'm hardcore stuff in the early that video that we had used with Mick and people always talking about MC bean a hardcore legend, so that was something that was in mixed the NA in the Russo lie than it might have been for all I know might have been mixed idea because Mick always did push that hardcore shit. So the first ever hardcore title match happen. The next week on raw when mankind went defeat Ken shamrock after the big boss ban interfered and now mankind retains here result the following week. He gets a win over shamrock and boss man in a triple threat match after the job squad interfere where snow would hit boss man with head and then mankind would paint him. But then right after the survivor series where Vincent man would screw mankind. Now, they're really gonna pile on and get some sympathy here for mankind and boss man is going to beat mankind for the title and a lighter match after the rocky interferes and cost mankind. The title on the heels of Vince McMahon screwing him to make the rock champion. And now, he's at least got the hardcore title and then rock screws him out of that. It's a pretty good story line. They get the mankind. Rock thing going not absolutely everything that you'd be stove on mankind. Now, just take it away from him and mankind. Was that child light character? So you felt sorry for him. Three weeks later road. Dogwood beat boss man to win the hardcore title this time after mankind interferes. This is all happening on raw. Of course road dog had been a big part of the new age outlaws and deacs for quite a while. And they had huge success. Why was he turned into a single star here, and why was road dog good fit for the hardcore title? I think they were just looking for something for him to do. They wanted to split them up them being the new age outlaws in Billy become Mr. ass and road dog go on to become a singles and from my recollection. I think it was row dogs idea. Let me get in there. Do the brawl and shit in the hardcore division. On December twenty eighth road Dogwood beat mankind to retain the title. And after this law surprisingly mankind has never in an angled for the hardcore title again. Instead winds up getting the big main event push. It wins the world title and has a heck of a feud with the rock and he's done with this. So it does feel like it was originally supposed to just be a funny proper one skit. But now all of a sudden the division moves on without him. So I guess in a weird way Russo suggesting sorta organic make sense the January eighteenth edition of raw we see dog gang grill, and there will be lots of table breaking chair shots, but eventually roadlog would forfeit the title and storyline..

I have to do my research on that, but I know about the Jewish part that's will say this about savage though. I will say this. I had always thought that he might be black, but he never claimed it. So I never put that on him if that makes sense. Let me let's also not forget. First of all, let's take a look at the hair. Yes, that's exactly that's the one the hair, the way it gets when it gets a little a little humid. Yes, yes. It has some Giuffra to it, but it also has some real fro to it. "And everyone's like why aren't they flip in people get that way about ric flair lot right because the recorded do a whole lot flare chopped and he sold and he would do you know a vertical suplex or something but he wasn't he wasn't work great guy before work great thing people you know people get that way about him a lot too but there's definitely a homework aspect to watch and stuff i think but i but when i did about it is seeing you know where all of my favorite guys today where they're pulling stuff from watching all that old stuff allowed me to be able to watch yourselves and be like oh shit that is flare thing that guy's just doing a flare bit right now you know so tell me about your particular fandom did you start what got you into wrestling the my earliest wrestling memories are alternate warrior and bret hart and that they were my and they're still a couple of my favorites ever and you know it was born in the eighties and so i was wondering eighties in lithuania the nineties it's those arrests arresting boom periods and it was it wasn't just wrestling just big part of the pop part of the pop culture pantheon at the time so it was always around but i don't know like in high school during like attitude era monday night wars and stuff and i wasn't super into all the worst psycho from the south and all of the worst guys i knew were super into would you grow up richmond virginia okay and yet what kind of put me off a little bit i kept a tow in 'cause i liked the cruiserweights vc w but i fell off and i didn't really fall in headfirst into wrestling phantom and just going all in on it until i was working at marvel comics editor and for so long comics had been like my main nerdy thing and working there and it was a lot to work there and then go to bar and talk people about comics and then go home and read comics mind just really really briefly.

"We i didn't i didn't say i'm gonna stop you ten times many times that was told because and it worked i back up to to it adams into just point this out that nobody took a buckle bret hart buckling to say that nobody it looked like a finnish yeah you know himself and take those i did always find myself on on the fun term buckles and the back once i i think i'm paying for all that now but i you know in this match you know i think there's a lot of funny things that i that little things that are really exceptionally you know the brawl ever one of the things that we kind of had gone up the ring that we got permission to do retold it was okay for us to do was to fight up through the crowd and you know nobody had done that that i remember yeah it was by accident interesting show where it was planned like you got permission to go fight always the crowd up the stands everywhere you want for as long as you want to make this mac i think that was the result of the us complaining about the submission aspect of the national debt it was gonna be just you know i don't i'm not wasn't wasn't a big fan of that idea and steve already said you know the punches i remember fighting thrown punches on stephen you watched like today's lesson and you watch punches the punches in this match are so close i mean the fans are right.

"Shing orders you know brent might of ashen question or two but i mean we went out we kinda just walked out to their way to nobody's out there doors aren't opened and i'm thinking myself i just really second guessing this finish i was always willing to put bread over but i was second guessing me passing out of the sharp shooter so i show back around that i'm not going door let me have less admits i said are you sure about this finish john i don't know you sure about this finishing it goes all this is a straight up with quote bitch because oh god damn steve i promise you work and i said okay and i trusted that's when i went back out to brett that we started pacing around rangers kinda you know just just chat and breasts said to me and he goes steve he goes if you're gonna pass out to sharp shooter you need to have color and i said man do you think he goes oh yeah i i know what here's the thing there's a no color policy i've been in the company probably about a year i don't have any stroke i don't have any poll and so brent being the veteran that he is he says if you wanna do it and i said because that's meeting each taking me under his umbrella policy of seniority and his legend that was ongoing in the wwf at the time so i said okay man cool so people always ask me hey man you never did any blades jobs in the past people said you know bret hart cuts you were you afraid.
