"The civil rights infrastructure of DHS is also concerning what I've been saying is people who are being denied basic due process for one one reason, ultimately, which is that we weren't born in the United States, the United States constitution does not say that citizens get these rights. It says that you know, people he this is the land of the free not the free. People. But what are you gonna do? Sorry, interrupt you. But you know, Democrats have been talking about this stuff for a long time. So okay again because it's all resting on your shoulders. Okay. We disagree. True. True. Your inspiring a lot of others. But when you're in con- like what are you gonna say? Well, the on the I know I do think it's important to to counter because its movements cannot be on any one person shoulders. And that's a mistake we made with Obama. What was the mistake? We made with mistake that I made with Obama was awry, we did it. He's in sackable. You know, it's all good auto pilot. We automated our government because you know, the prince of hope, you know, has been elected to the presidency. No one person, even if they are elected president, he meted continued grassroots movement and support he needed the twenty ten elections. He needed the twenty twelve elections. He needed the twenty fourteen elections, and we lost all of them. There is no one person that is the future of the Democratic Party. There is a people that is the future of the Democratic Party. There is a movement that I hope is the future of the Democratic Party. But if we take this moment and say, she did it. That's it. It's not gonna work. I we need to elect lots of other people you'll Hano mar out in Minnesota, amazing amazing work Brent welder out in Kansas or or James Thomson out in Kansas. You have folks even right here up up and down ballot. Julia solace out of state Senate. There's a lot of really incredible candidates. We don't get this movement. If we just focus on one C in one chamber on a federal abolishes. Let's say goes what does that world? Look like, I think first of all not to say that we just revert back to the I n s which was the system that worked right before I s- because I was established in two thousand three, but we also have to ask ourselves. The question of how much is this black box detention necessary. And you look at these facilit-. Ladies were caging, women and children were jumping to criminalize people. Because it's you know, this is a policy kind of like ethnic cleansing. I mean, we're on that spectrum. I would say, right. You have a campaign. One hundred percent. Volunteer base. Right. It was like ninety percent towards the end. We were able to bring on some folks. No corporate pack, Bonnie, no corporate pack money, and you're on this midterm election season. Joined by surge of women and progressive left candidates who are now running from Stacey Abrams right to Jordan. And then through the brand new congress, which was created by the Sanders campaign. Right. And who asked you run some folks folks yet, right? You all support each other. Yeah. Yeah. So even last week you and Bernie Sanders where rallies for other progressive candidates hands us, so is your to change the face of the Democratic Party is possible to change it from within. Or do you really have to come in?.

"Eight nine hundred thirty three ninety three. At bat unleashed on Twitter. Got a nice montage of brilliant things that have come out of the mouth of Alexandria because yo- Cortez just a whole bunch of stuff that you know, she has no knowledge of. She's making up completely out of whole cloth. But it she looks good saying it so without we share it with you, here's Alexandria. Now. Hi, everybody. So excited to be hopping on here, Senator Sanders account, and we're here in Kansas City to rally for Brent welder. We're gonna flip this seat. Read in November. She is the leader of of she. I mean, speaker rather leader Pelosi hopefully, you know, we'll see. She's she's the current leader of the party, and I think that the party absolutely does have its leadership in the house. We have our leadership in in the Senate as well. You use the term. What did you mean by that? Oh. I think what I meant is like the the settlements that are increasing in some of these areas. Do you think you can expand on that? Yeah, I mean, I think I'd also just I I am not the experts geopolitics on this issue. One of the biggest problems that we have is two hundred million Americans make less than twenty thousand dollars a year. Forty percents of this country. We look at these figures and we say, oh, unemployment is low. Everything is fine, right? Well, unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs raising the Livy. The minimum wage to a living wage will expand our economy. It will create wealth in our economy by likley. This like upper middle class is probably more moderate, but that upper middle class doesn't exist anymore. In America, many, many, many members or military to go through years of training in order to have access to these weapons and the idea that a seventeen year old can walk into a shop and and get one I think is completely unacceptable. And we're also not talking about is, why aren't we incorporating the cost of all the funeral expenses of those who died because they can't afford access to healthcare. That is the cost of our system as Warren buffet likes to say, if he paid as much as his secretary paid, fifteen percents paid a fifteen percent tax rate. If corporations paid we, if we I the the tax Bill, but when raised our corporate tax rate to twenty eight percent, which is not even as high as it was before, if we, if we do those two things and also close them, those loopholes that's two trillion dollars right there. Our immigration system is built premise of exclusion. It's built on a premise of choosing who we want out instead of who we want in extrajudicial nature is baked in to the structure of the agency, and that is why they're able to get away with black with black sites out our border like also sometimes frustrating to me is that this isn't just an idea. I don't have. An opinion. This is backed by data. Yuck. No everything. Everything. She said there is wrong. Is meet up. It's a lie. Can you imagine if two hundred million Americans made less than twenty thousand dollars a year? I'm trying to figure out what two hundred HALE erica's are forty percent of our population. That ain't right either ofr to that's that's right, right. What are we five hundred million people now? And that was just the workforce. So we're less. I love this. If if if Warren Buffett paid fifteen percent in taxation, wait a minute, stop right there. Pumpkin right there, hey Putin. Do you know what the top rate is in this country? It's forty percent punking, forty percent, plus whatever you pay in state taxes, local taxes. The Feick attacks on top of that plus the the healthcare tax, it actually is closer to forty three percent for the upper income bracket and then then you add on all the other taxes. If you live in New York, it's fifty two fifty, three fifty, four percent. Fifteen percents. Oh my gosh. Please. Please make the rate fifteen percent for the wealthiest people insecure this country, please. Oh my gosh. First of all, that would create an incredible amount of jobs. It would. It would also free up an incredible amount of money to be to to be reinjected into the economy. She doesn't even think wealthy people pay fifteen percent while she is seriously. I hadn't seen that montage before she's dumber than I thought..
Takeaways from Tuesday's primaries
"Meanwhile, we have on Tuesday and continuing through the rest of August. The final round of primaries are heading out of those some in a bunch of states around the country. The parties are still choosing their candidates and some of these battleground, a house and Senate and gubernatorial races, David, can you you walk us through what struck you most from the latest round of the primaries? We had races in Kansas, Michigan, Missouri in Washington on Tuesday night. Struck by on Tuesday night was the the performance of Bernie Sanders endorsed candidates the the loss in the Michigan governor's race, and then the the house race in Kansas. With a former Sanders staffer, I think it just continued to a succession of losses he's had over the past eighteen months and probably well maybe says something about about how strong he is as a candidate in twenty twenty. Should he choose to run? I? I was very struck by watching. There's a lot of interest in seeing how Abdul el-sayed would do in Michigan in that governor's race after the Sanders endorsement, right Brent welder in Kansas, and that data ground district, the third district outside Kansas City. But you know what one of the things I wanted is it entirely fair to judge Sanders just on wins and losses for his his candidate and his movement because he, he's, he's picking almost by definition, he's picking underdogs and most of these places. Right. Elena, yeah, I don't think he's necessarily expecting these people to always win, and I don't know if that's necessarily the and David. I mean, I'd be curious to hear what you think about this. But I don't know if that's necessarily always the goal. I think the goal overall is to move the party to the left in terms of their platform. We all bringing out new DHS tournaments and creating excitement all over this country. And even a year ago when I was talking to democratic candidates about healthcare and whether they supported, Sanders is Medicare for all. There are a lot of candidates were sort of like, oh, we're not sure.

"Now, I think that's the most interesting case. He's a Missouri. Seventh, he was outspent two to one. So he barely won right because you already know he's the winner. No, he didn't barely win. He won by thirty points. I would count that as a significant surprise. How much coverage has Jamie Schoolcraft gotten outside of the young Turks? I don't know that he's gotten any coverage won by thirty points after being massively outspent and the final victory was permitted. Giant Paul. She is an incumbent that was also not a surprise again to be fair to CNN, but she is a Justice democrat and likely will be part of that caucus in in the next congress. So overall, not terrible coverage by CNN, and they had some caveats in there. But I thought, obviously, if you give the full context, you see that there was significant, progressive victories in overall. The night was split and don't get me wrong. I've already told you this for two days straight, but I'll say it in the context of this stories to they were painful losses. Corey Bush, Brent welder, Abdul, el-sayed. So there was some painful losses, wonderful victories. That's the reality. So now we go to politico where you're not going to get the reality. So. They painted as a Bernie issue and their headline surprising given that it's politico and their enormous disdain and bias against Bernie Sanders is Bernie and his army are losing twenty. How's that for context? Okay. And just in case you weren't clear on where they send, they are not going to give you the full picture instead in the body of the article. They have lines like this over and over again. Bernie Sanders sputtering. Okay. Now, political did a hit job on our Aleutian earlier. Again, they're emitted all their victories and only focused on their losses. If you talk about their losses. That's fair. That's real. We're not. Nobody's trying to cover that up, but you should also talk about their wins that's called journalism what you're doing is as usual. And I know that the people in Washington think this is crazy like, oh my God, but yes, you are biased against progressives. It's so obvious from all of your coverage, Bernie Sanders, losing sputtering revolution, disorganized. I can't believe he has no organization. Plus he's not part of our revolution. He said. But he can't technically be involved in the organization. You leave that out of your stories or you pointed out with no sense of irony or hypocrisy, right? So again, then again, politico with their attacks against progressives. So I don't care what Republicans say and as a reporter you shouldn't care. Oh, well, the Republicans say, we're liberals so we have a liberal bias, so we're going to go out of our way to bash liberals. Does that sound like journalism cue? That sounds like cowardice to me? I certainly doesn't sound objective. So I'm going to give you the full context here in a second. They go on to say two years after his defeat in two thousand sixteen presidential primary, the Vermont Senator has a master growing string of losses in races in which he has intervened. This is so-called reporter, David ciders, and then they go on to say, you get the whole sense of it here. Sanders also campaigned for James Thompson who want his primary and a less competitive Kansas house district Tuesday and our revolution. Chores candidates have already won local contests elsewhere. Now, I give you that because I'm trying to be fair to them. That was their only caveat for lost sputtering terrible, James Thompson one. And I guess there was local election somewhere and they want some of those. But anyway, we're moving back to Sanders terrible. Get with at all. Now, look, if you want to point out that Sanders supported Brent welder, Abdulo sign and they didn't win. That's super fair. That's what happened. But if you don't talk about the victories well, then I have to question whether you're bias, why are you leaving at the victories now?.

So the best part of this Joe Manchin is the Democrats are complaining now because they're calling him a spoiler all of the mainstream media or calling him a spoiler you know, and that's the press wing of the democrat party, the democrat operatives themselves or calling Joe magic a spoiler they're saying that all the votes that this guy got would have gone to the democrat. So just consider that for a second, but you're admitting that's more of a confession. Really the Nagy's ation you're saying is that the guys who vote for the outer space alien who doesn't have a debit card. Can't remember his campaign website that guy wearing. They are running right into a wall in the midterms. This is not gonna work. Democrats could win in the midterms, but these social Easter candidates ain't going to happen and the mainstream media seemed to be picking up on it. Maybe watch the show. Here's what happened among the really far left candidates for Michigan governor. That was a race up last night, former state Senator Gretchen Whitmer beat Abdul, el-sayed a Muslim socialist who is. Is he's his doctor. He's endorsed by Berea. Sanders he endorsed by these socialists. He lost that race, the socialist Bernie back guy by twenty points. He lost that primary by twenty points. He ended fourth in five way race not great. Saint Louis congressional congressman William lacy clay beat out a socialist black lives matter activist, Cory Bush cord Bush was endorsed by Alexandria. Kazuo Cortez beat be Corey, Bush. Handily ocasio Cortez struck out broadly overnight. Okay. Cortez an endorsed six candidates going into these racist. She was flying over to Michigan. She's been flying all over the country for candidates. She's been in California raising money, and she struck out four out of those six candidates lost and turned out pretty well pretty badly else. I had coming out fourth out of fifth for that of five. That's not really good. Brent welder lost. He as she indoors, sprint welder, James Thompson one. That's one of the candidates who won Rashida play, but one Russia to play, but. Could be the first Muslim congress woman. She's never held a job in her entire life. She is a career politician for if you look at her Wikipedia page says, early life and education politics. There's no, there's no nothing in between. It's early life straight into hackery politics. Then there was another headline another sort of exciting, unseen before candidate unconventional. The headline was quote possible. I gay native American woman in congress winds, which is really a shocking headline because I had no idea that Elizabeth Warren was gay. It never occurred to me that she, I don't know if she was married to a guy at one time, so that's incredible. Congratulations to you. Senator Leioa Warren for coming out..

Peg it as a conservative red state, though that is the way it tends to trend right now. All four house seats are held by Republicans, but there are couple that Democrats have their I on. They would like to try to flip in. And so you know, could be in November part of this larger effort by Democrats to flip the house could be important. Probably the most interesting one to watch is district three of those four because Hillary Clinton one that just barely in two thousand sixteen by one point. So that makes the incumbent they're a Republican congressman Kevin Yoder vulnerable. And so the the democratic primary, which of course is what's coming up. This week is pretty interesting there. There are several people vying for that that chance to run against Yoder, the one two probably really watches Brent welder union organizer who's endorsed by Senator Bernie Sanders and Alexandria a cause.' Cortes. Okay. So we've talked about some house races, especially on the democratic side, but I want to shift gears here and talk about the governor's race and specifically the Republican side of the governor's race. Dominica was chuckling already. So this should be good in this governor's race. We have an endorsement from Trump that just came out this morning. He endorsed Chris Kobuk saying, quote, Chris Kobuk a strong and early supporter of mine is running for governor of the great state of Kansas. He is a fantastic guy who loves his state and our country. He will be a great all caps governor and has my full and total endorsement strong on crime border and military. All caps vote, Tuesday that was so that was a Trump tweet, and we also have an ad from Kobuk. Here's how Kobuk is running seventeen years of marriage in five, wonderful girls. I want my girls to grow up in Kansas that safe from crime and terrorism that doesn't tax it. Citizens to death in that has a culture of life, faith and family. Great idea, a consistent conservative standing strong for every cancer, Chris co, Bach for governor. Even listening to that. He sounds pretty conservative talking about life faith and family, which are sort of buzzwords on the on the right. There's the elephant in the room though. Yeah, you know, this name, Chris globeop. He ran President Trump's voter fraud commission, which really never got off the ground really irritated a lot of attorneys-general across the country, including Republican attorneys general. By the way, who had said that they don't see the kind of level of voter fraud that President Trump was claiming. So they're going to set up a commission basically to prove this and it went nowhere. This is an issue that Trump keeps returning to just in the last few days. We've heard him talk about voter ID as pushing that as something that that he wants to see. So he hasn't given up on that. Even those commission really didn't find much. I want a backup and I want to get to one more important point about this race before we move on, which is it's not like crisco back. The only person running in this primary, he's running against the Republican. Publican incumbents, Jeff Collier, the president came out and endorsed a guy who, yes, worked on his voting commission, but who's running to unseat the Republican incumbent. I mean, my sons and tell me if I'm wrong is that's pretty unusual right for a president to say, I want someone else, not the guy that's there. Well, yeah, unless the guy that's there, he doesn't think is strongly in favor of. I'm in a lot of what President Trump does is unusual as compared to pass presidents. But for Trump, it's pretty consistent where he goes with the guy who he thinks has got his back the most and certainly Kobuk fits that Bill. And the reason cobalt here actually has a very strong chance of winning is because there are seven candidates on the Republican side, and that would mean that he could sneak through with third or less of the of the vote. And the thing is if Kobuk were to get through, even if it was with that small percentage of the vote, Democrats are lighting up thinking, wow, here comes the governor's race that they could possibly put on the map because they're thinking that they're gubernatorial..

Donald Trump is aggressively going after his own attorney general again because of the fact that he not only recused himself from this whole Russia investigation. But he seems to be frustrated that Jeff Sessions hasn't gone out of his way to end the investigation overall. So he lashed out on Twitter again, and here's what Trump had to say. This is a terrible situation for you and attorney general Jeff Sessions should stop this rigged witch-hunt right now before it continues to stain our country. Any further. Bob Muller is totally conflicted and his seventeen and Crete Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA. So that happened. Now, let's just note for the record that's illegal.
