"He's making two and a half million dollars Brent Venables who I thought was the highest paid coordinator. Emily tweeted during the game some Lsu Fan. He's actually because I looked it up. Venables makes about two point. Two Million Aranda Handy was making two and a half million dollars and he's not even the boss. He doesn't get any of the criticism and he is clearly important. His team is is always going to have a leak defensive players. I'd say that's one of the better jobs in America I'd stay. LSU Like Venables. For a while. And I look at myself like a pretty ambitious person person. I don't think you're like turn down jobs because you're scared. You have a great gig. Look at Brad Venables. The guy's GONNA become a legend at Clemson make he's bread venables. The defensive coordinator Clemson has almost a twelve million dollar contract. He's not even the head coach. But these coaches are not wired like that they move and they move and they move and they move and they move and they move. It's just I most of us can't relate especially once you started making a lot of money if I had a good job. It's why I like if I was Lincoln Riley I'd stay in Oklahoma for a long time. I really would now. I'm not wired like a coach is why I kinda got out of the business partly because I just wanted to do other shit but also I wasn't in the moving business. And that's why I do. Respect these coaches. They look at communities like stepping stones. I I mean just really really means nothing to because the majority of them are not going to be bill ballot. Check that are going to be able to be a place for twenty five years or Andy. Reid that's going to have two jobs gobs and both of them I mean he co chief for another ten years so he could have two jobs fifteen years each like. That's not normal. Most guys jump around most guys get higher. Most guys is get fired. You know they say you're kind of hired to be fired and that's the way these guys think and it's truly with the with the amount of money it just. It's pretty nuts. It really really is and these guys. These coaches.

"How is Dave Aranda going to game plan that if for this well the good news is that they play Jaylen hurts in the semi finals right and they had a game plan how they were gonna stop him different animal and that's what makes Trevor lord so difficult to defend because he can throw the football like a first round quarterback but with his legs in these championship games they will designed quarterback runs for him so you have to be accountable for him in the quarterback run game with the safety or somebody on the second level the defense the first guy that the guy at the first level the defense can't stop and he will out run you because he sneaky fast he's a long in so you always you can't run you can't run defenses it just be completely oblivious to the fact that he carries the ball he can hit his head on the goal post in sixty seven yards letter a high state found that out coach how do you look at what dabble was been able to do even though that clubs it is now the premier program really in the country still playing the underdog role still having the right plan the rocky stuff how do you how do you kind of put what dabble was been able to do still using these guys as underdogs even though you know they're back in the national championship game again yeah I I doubt you know that was a good friend of mine and he's the master of creating a mental advantage right any any place that is the underdog role in and look these guys buy into it when you watch them play they play with an edge here's what dabbled knows he has he knows he has a good football team he knows that they're young but they're really really talented think about what he did with his defense in him and Brent Venables from last year they lost three first rounders on the defensive line right now they're about number one in the country defensively in every category that matters when they replaced in essence the whole defense they play with the chip offense of Lee they play with the chip you know he he's going to talk about.

"What makes him great? Tom Luganville why is he so good. He's a Unicorn. There's nobody like him in in college. Football I think pound for pound. He's the best defensive player air because of the scheme versatility and because of the range in all of college football over two hundred snaps safety over two hundred snaps at linebacker over two hundred snaps at corner owner. And in today's game we are in a space UPTEMPO. Spread Horizontally spreadsheet vertically type game and what people want to do they want to catch you on the field with the wrong personnel. Clemson could literally do a ten play drive on defense and not have to change personnel regardless of what the offense is doing because of Isaiah. Simmons that allows allows Brent Venables a ton of flexibility in by the way youngsters recruiting. Don't over train and don't focus on one sport. Isaiah Simmons was a multi sport athlete. And it's is one of the reasons why he is a premier football player right now. Yeah I will not insult Isaiah Simmons by calling him a linebacker because gentleman. I was a linebacker and Simmons can do and what I can do or two completely different things. One of his team said if you were to create a player you create a Simmons you quite possibly couldn't because on men the rating stop from where I would take Isaiah Simmons the losers point. The dude is a complete terror and to talk a little details of how are we is. He's fast enough to guard receivers man-to-man so usually when you bring your linebacker out of the game and bring in your extra cornerback to guard the slot receiver the inside or I assume that says. Hey stay on the bench. I got this when usually when you would bring that linebacker into now. Play the run game if they're gonNA ground and pound you SAM and says don't worry about it. I got this so Isaiah. Simmons is so good because he can quite literally like Luke said. Do everything and with Brent Venables defense offense he gives you so much pre snap and then completely different posts nap. You can put Isaiah Simmons almost anywhere and he can be in a completely different spot in. The quarterback is looking down the field. We looked at play earlier. When that exactly happy lined up at free safety ended up over the top making the interception so he is a Unicorn? That's exactly why they call them. Mahabir linebacker many teams have different names for different kinds of players in their their back end. Why Not Unicorn the interesting things are going to be see how we used and then how? LSU accounts on every single snap. So we'll keep an eye on that in the meantime let's take a look at. What's what's in store this postseason brought to you by macy's well got one game left in its big one? Lsu Clemson for all the glory Levy covered from quite literally all the angles main telecast on Espn Field Pass on ESPN two film room on the you if you want it. We've got it a Monday night. Going to be an epic way to watch all of the action as it happens. The meantime on Monday some of the greatest players in college football football today will be on the field for coming next move reveal some of the greatest players of all.

"This is a team that went fifteen in our last year of course they won the National Championship beat Notre Dame the playoff beat Alabama and very convincing fashion in that championship game and now they bring back a lot of the offense of side out of the ball we talk here about defense and I'll go back to that in a second but so many key contributors are coming back on the offense side of the ball not to mention trevor warrants potentially Ashley a heisman front runner he into a tongue of ISLA potentially duke it out for the Heisman they are the odds on favourite at least at this early juncture in the preseason also got Travis T. N.. Maybe the best running back in college football tea Higgins Justin Ross they're back. Amari Roger's got hurt. Maybe back later in the year but still has eligibility so huge of point here is that so much of that potential and offense is coming back at least to some degree looking at the schedule it will definitely balance out any rough spots will have in the beginning with the defense but look replacing four guys on that incredible defensive line their top three linebackers. There's five of their top six tacklers whole there's going to be a bit of an adjustment. I like that you bring up. The fact that Brent Venables is so good at working in a rotation that's part of his Brilliance Brilliance Nazar Defensive Coordinator. It's played a huge role in building depth in building. This sustained success that we've seen now under Dabo swinney Indian Brent Venables Clemson so I think Clemson's in a great spot the schedules favorable. I don't know if you look at the schedule at all they I do I have I have an order of threats that I'm curious your opinion about so y the three games that jump out to me. You Got Texan Emma Week to <hes>. You've also got a road game <unk> at South Carolina on November thirtieth the one that I'm most intrigued by. I don't know if it's the biggest threat but the one that I'm most intrigued by actually week three. It's the week after the AM game. Everyone's going to be amped up for an at home but then the very next week Clemson on the road at Syracuse should be a pretty good at Syracuse team and I don't know if it's going to be <hes> a letdown spot there but at least the dish juncture in late July..

"And work off a lot of non verbal if you get distracted by cliff bar or something this is a really tough job. Like, I don't think you guys realized that he has to be looking for the officials on the sidelines. Yes. We looking down at the field. Yes. And no Hershon McVeigh's feed are at all time. And he needs to be aware of all surroundings and things that may come in contact with Sean while Sean is coaching on. Can we get this guy on as he like an intern or something else in I know, it's earn intern? He's the get back coach they come from being entered. I'm watching video right now Brad Venables because bread Venables a defensive coordinator for Clemson has his own personal get back coach, it's not Adam smother them. And that's Davos guy realize how funny it is that we can't pay these players, but we could pay all these coaches to protect the coaches, and they state troopers that run off the field with the coaches, we could pay them. Thing is such a stupid scam. I'm watching him. Now. I mean, this guy works hard. He really does. Beg doesn't stop moving. I mean watching this video of bread Venables snapping at his get back. Coach Brad Venables the reason why he is. He's not a head. Coach is obviously because he runs read all the time. All right. Do me. Do me this favor. Billy, Chris ROY Allison, I want a viewing and a voting from you guys. Mike is selling Clemson. I'm saying Joe, I'm being prisoner in the moment. I'm saying this Johnny come lately for the Rams is the best get back coach ever. I want you to watch videos on both of these guys. And you guys tell me who's better because I'm tired of Mike slip. One thing that we can agree on common ground, the key to success, either pro or college is the get back coach these teams, they do it the best whether it's college or pro and they're at the top does Bella check have get back coach because everyone in the league is. Oh, but here's the thing. You know? That's it's funny that you should say that though. Because Bella Jack does have I don't know what this guy's name is. But he's got some mystery coach who sort of an oracle who's wandering around whose name nobody knows. But he has like a lot of power in the facility because he's got the era of the oracle. And people are wondering like what does he do? How does he get paid? And he just sort of, you know, then dissolves into a cloudy mist and leaves the room. Give me some information on that, dude. Because it's funny like they've got these coaches like embedded in their in their staffs. We have no idea what they do. Ted wrath is the name of the get back for the Rams, and he's pulling double duty, Dan. He's a director of strength and training. Also, always the strength coach. Yeah. Well, same for Clemson. In fact, Brent Venables his get back coaches, the assistant to smother men on the poll, Guillermo, please at lebatardshow does the get back coach half the beat the strength and conditioning coach because everyone knows that story that McKay told us about the med tech coming in and arguing with him about John McCain. Dick cheney. Oh, man. That's a big fine. That's a big fun. I gotta get back to that by dollars. America's mccain. Ernie Adams is the patriots guy. You know? It's funny. I've seen them there forever. And did not realize that until you said, it's I mean, he's just always lurking around he runs the patriots. Essentially, according to Dan Shaughnessy. It's like a Bill Belichick mentor. I watched both these videos, I'm leaning the Rams guy because he's more. He caresses the side of the hips more the guy from Clemson like grabs the shirt, he probably stretches the shirt out yet. And I lean Rams guy..

"Be anecdotal, Sarah. It may be that. I get caught up too much in what he says after the emotions of a national championship. But I look at what dabbled Sweeney has done and what he has said. And he seems to be one of those people that has this bigger picture view of life, the grass may not necessarily be green. And by the way, Sarah of the grass is quite green. At Al at Clemson where he might be making. I I would imagine I don't know for sure. But I gotta figure he's making seven plus million dollars a year out guess somewhere around that. I don't know for sure his got everything you could probably want in that set up at Clemson, not only does he have all the facilities. He has got all the resources to keep a great coaching staff as defensive coordinator, Brad, Venables, one of the highest page assistance in football. They have a tremendous recruiting ability. They are recruiting from the northeast to certainly the area the ACC, and they play in a conference right now that is you know, there's to dominate for many years. So I think Sarah that like wall it's always going to be the question of Willie eventually make the jump because. Everybody wants to sip the sweet nectar of the NFL at one time as they head coach. I kind of by the idea that Dabbagh could be one of those rare exceptions that just loves what he does. And absent like partial ownership in a franchise might not make that jump. Yeah. You're right, money wise. He's working under a contract Clemson running through twenty twenty four that scheduled the Pam fifty four million this year. It's a six million dollar base two hundred thousand plus for the playoff semi-final, another two fifty four winning last night, so doing all right moneywise, and you mentioned the assistance and the not just the stability, and the consistency of staying in the place that he loves making a lot of money, but it's been pretty important for this Clemson team to have the coordinators and assistance around him. Stay the same. And a lot of people talked about that after last night's game comparing what went down with Bama who has seen in outright revolving door. "Well, now, we have that data at this point in eleven years has eight ten win seasons. Dabble has two national championships. I when you talk about where Clemson is I even more dug into the concept that this isn't a Golden State Cleveland, we're not getting those two teams. We're getting Golden State Golden State. These are two programs that have put themselves today on squarely equal footing over what they've accomplished over the last five years and you'll it's fascinating. We look whether it is Golden State or whether we want to stay in football, but go to the NFL, and you look at some of these dynasties great teams that have managed to accomplish. And a high level for a long period the way Clemson now that they're starting to get the better of multiple bits of hardware in that same period. You look, and you say it usually requires someone doing something that's a bit out of character for the rest of this. And whether it's guys taken less than Golden State like Kevin Durant. So that you can resign a lot. Of that group for this for this couple years. Whether it's Tom Brady and what he's consistently done in New England taking that I looked at Clemson. And I say Brent Venables Brent Venables has been one of the best defensive coordinator in college football for years. Now, again, this team has been turning over talent and finding a way to still produce unbelievable players year after year on that Clemson defense and Brent Venables has always been a name. It's been talked about always been one that everyone's like now, he's staying at Clemson. He's certainly well compensated there, but seems content to be the defensive coordinator for Clemson come hell or high water mandate benefit from that continuity, right? And this is they were even seeing in the NFL, right? How how hard is it to keep your coordinators together? How hard is it to build a court reports over the summer that Venables new deal was a five year deal for eleven point six million dollars? That's an investment in a defensive coordinator. That says, hey, we are going to keep these guys here. And it's that continuity that has built some sort of a magic around the Clemson program and density that we as much as we we look at data. What was part of that identity? You look at the staff that has been built there is an identity that will remain not just in the players, but also in the coaching staff likely for the next several years. It makes them sort of. I mean, no matter where it makes them a juggernaut for the next several years. Absolutely. An absolute unit. So tons to look forward to with this group for going forward. Now, a young core. Handing the baton to their true freshman quarterback going into the future. It's beautiful stuff. Back to you guys. It is beautiful stuff junior. Thanks very much. And I'm glad junior was there for this game in little karmic Justice for him because in the national championship game in two thousand twelve Notre Dame lost to Alabama by twenty eight. And now he gets to see Alabama lose by twenty eight to Clemson in this national karma Justice for him though. I stopped listening to both of them when Mike mentioned publicly that he wore me out, and my parents front yard that was kind of the changeover of when you know, son takes over for father. So I started we had we have independent confirmation of this. It happened family saw my neighbor saw at the neighbor's dog saw everybody saw it. It was it was foolishness on my part. So let me ask you both both this you're right on the sidelines. Seeing it I'll seeing the motion everything what was the for each of you. What was the wow moment for you of that game? It was it was the Justice Ross keg. I mean, we I tell you we could not have been closer to where Justin Ross caught that ball. And it was all looking at each other. Now, the big wow moment to start to pick six of the beginning of the game. We were all watching that with our head in our hands going. Oh my God. I think that's what really stood out to me was the moment of the pick six because it set a tone. But then the other several moments when you've got this many points, the long completion after they've given up a big touchdown to Jerry, Judy. They turn around they get their own bomb..

"Scoring forty four points fourth most bonded team in a championship game since the BCS was dominated a nineteen ninety eight. But it was the defense that made the difference. Our college football grew Joey Galloway Jesse Palmer and Adnan Virk. Football's gave a matchups enjoy. Jason. I've talked about matches. Otherwise, we couldn't wait to see was Clemson D line against Alabama all line a decisive win for the Tigers. It really wasn't so much talk about next to Lawrence. Now. It's like Dexter who Notre Dame they were outstanding. And then in this game and they gave up some Russia yards. And as a defense that gave up over four hundred yards so Alabama offense with outstanding. But they made the stop when they needed to make them. And that's what you have to do in a football game of not about the stat lines. And how many? Can you get? Fourth and four Alabama come down in the second half. They get into the red zone. They decide to go for fake fill. They get stopped on a fourth down this defense. Although Alabama move it. They kept Alabama out of the end zone. This is the second fourth down stop to decide to try to run. These guys rallied. They play thrown on the back end. So glad you're paying attention. They rally another down. In the second half because Alabama moved the ball and it got into though the number of times, but they could not put the ball in zone. And as his defense kept getting stops and kept getting the turnovers that they got and putting balls on the ground. You could see the offense just rejuvenated. If Alabama goes down in the and the red zone in the second half on those first two draft and get points. I believe this game is completely different. But the fact that the defense stop them you could see the offense come on the field. Like, we got this. Number one, take care of the football with number two with Gordon Moore this game's over the way our defenses playing as a team. Brent Venables did a terrific job picking and choosing Winston blitzes wouldn't have plays on on the back end. And because of that as a team they played a game the Alabama can do anything.

"I called you about about how how tough it went for coaches to one way. He leaned me mild as a yeah. Yeah. I do. But you know, Bob stoops nailed it. He. Did it the right way? And I don't think he would have done it at that time. If he wasn't serious about it. And I think Auburn fans are boosters whoever they are who are just so insistent on about driving. This Gus bus out the door are just silly silly. Stoops's last game was by the way. Last game Bob soups coached Sugar Bowl win over Auburn. Good call. Yeah. Well, there are many interesting fascinating facets to the Auburn fan base. In one is that they a lot of times don't know how to leave. Well, enough alone. Gus malzahn. I mean, you have to go all the way back to twenty seventeen the last time he won an SEC championship for division championship. And and yet. Because his offensive line graduated in because one of the best teams of all time as across the state. They're mad so. I don't know. I don't know. Let's let's not go down that road. Very far. Brent Venables Clemson defensive coordinator said he is not interested in Texas Tech opening his name had come up Venables. Of course spent a longtime time at Oklahoma as Bob stoops's defensive coordinator. He's was a Kansas state before that he's got a long history in that part of the world, but he's also has a sign on the Clemson football team. So he's not interested in the Texas Tech job. Not a big surprise air bread. No. When you're making two million dollars a year to be a coordinator you can afford to be very picky in choosing your head coaching opportunity. If you even want to become a head coach, and maybe Venables does maybe he doesn't I know that you know, two plus million dollars a year living in Clemson, South Carolina. That's yeah. That's a comfortable way of life. So I wouldn't be looking to big money. Yeah. It is. And so. Yeah. I don't I don't think while I'm not saying you can't win at Texas Tech. It just depends on how you define winning. How you define winning how high of a level of winning are we talking about? And if you're if you mean competing for national championships, I don't think you're going to do that at Texas Tech. And if that's what Brent Venables is waiting for assuming he wants to be a head coach. Then I think he's right to pass on this opportunity. Tomorrow's podcast. Tomorrow's campus conversation podcast will be the annual coaching carousel special. Ryan McGee Adam written Bergen crisslow will break all of this down into detail for your listening enjoyment. We are going to move very fastly to Heather's neck of the woods. And that is the fact that the college football playoff selection committee is meeting in Texas and will release its ratings tonight. Head of is there's a real Kirk involved. In the ratings given the teams that we're all speculating about. Can you explain that for us? Please. Sure, the recusals policy requires that. Ohio State athletic director, gene Smith, Oklahoma athletic director, Joe Castiglione and former Virginia Tech coach Frank beamer whose son Shane is an assistant coach with Oklahoma this year all leaves the room for discussions and voting about of highest state and Oklahoma. So if you see the not that leaves ten selection committee members in the room who will be essentially determining the top four without them. And I spoke with CFP executive director Bill Hancock about this on Sunday. And he did confirm that they will also be recused even longer if need be so that they don't have any input on where those respective programs on on who they might play in the semi finals. So it's not just their teams that they can't vote on. They can't vote on you know, if Alabama because if Alabama number one is playing number four or or Clemson or. State. They're out of the mix for all of it. Because they don't want any any perceived bias that those men would influence who those teams would play as well. And they did that with Dan rather kovic at Clemson for the I think at at least the past two years went beyond the recusals policy..

"And so go ahead and just when you play offenses that are really good quick game. Man. They just get up in the receivers grills and make it really difficult for them to get off the line. And then by that time the defensive line is is in the quarterbacks. And so that really happening in since he stayed they just they just this whole defense just make life a living. Hell. L? Whoever they play. I mean, it's just it's got to be such a nightmare. And I felt so bad for Anthony Browne. Boston College quarterback. All right. Yeah. Last Saturday series their first series. He just gets crushed. What is the identity of a team that can beat Clemson knowing that they've got to go up against this defense that they've got to try to stop this offense. What characteristics does a team need to possess in order to have a real chance of beating? Clemson. I would say one that can really stress you down the field. You know? I mean, if you look at a. Brent Venables has put together a masterpiece during his tenure at Clemson. But the one little I'm not gonna say weakness because I don't know they I don't know if it rises to that level because they're so dang good at all three levels. But the little blips of the the little periods of struggle. It you see I mean this defense is so aggressive flows. So hard to stop the rhyme that sometimes they ever pursue. And that leaves them open. You'll see a tight end slip behind a safety and be wide. Open on occasion, you'll see. You'll see guys uncovered sometimes not a lot not regularly, but it happens. And I think that's in large part of function of just how aggressive they are. And how complex this defense is. And so probably an offense that can stress you down the field. Also at offense that that is really good at that tempo. Because we we have seen sometimes this defense struggles to to get lined up, and because Brent Venables I mean, he just wants to get them into the perfect play every time he wants to see what the offense is going to do before. He makes his final call. I mean ninety eight percent of the time that that is a strength. But there are some exceptions where they're not lined up and opposing offenses consorted get to them, and that was really, you know, their loan to regular season loss is the last two years Syracuse and Pittsburgh. That's the common thread is both of those teams went tempo and had all sorts of ships, and and confused them, and they were times where they couldn't get line defense couldn't get lined up and caves, so you know, I think it takes that type of threat, I guess one that a spread offense that you know, they can make things happen down the field. It has done an playmakers and one that can also run tempo. And as I see it there's only one team. Yeah. Team is where I was going with it. Yeah. Yeah. Same team that hundred percent of college football followers, are talking about as well. So let me close out on this. Then because it is the natural conclusion when we're talking about Clemson if things play out the way, I think things are going to play out clemson's going to be the number two seed headed into the college football playoff. They stand an excellent chance of making it through that first round beat against Notre Dame or anyone else and eventually ending up at a game where they're playing Alabama. What kind of chance do you give Clemson against Alabama? Everyone's afraid of what this team has to offer. But Clemson certainly brings a lot on the defensive side as discussed here on the offensive side, realistically speaking how big of a mismatch is or isn't that game? I don't think it's a mismatch. I've been saying this. The last few weeks. My position has been if they played right now would concern win probably not. But by the time, January whatever seven I guess rolls around after Trevor Lawrence has had that much longer to develop. Sure..

"And and this year they've been able to hit big runs and and make big Pasa pass plays all year, and especially the last two or three weeks. So it's the BC at home a lot of emotion cold. They got to hope that it's one of these games. Here's the BBC in a nutshell. They have a great running game. AJ Dylan is a physical back. Got a nice experienced offensive line. They love to put into and three tight end formations love. They're just be very different from most the offenses that Brent Venables prepares for in the ACC. They gotta hope that that curve ball in that physicality gets into second and six in third in two. And then they get a first down. Then they mix in some play action passes off of those run looks to get tied in flat. Or maybe in that second level they hit tied in on the backside, and they just kind of methodically bodyblow body blow casually hit a play action pass if they can't run the ball. They don't have any chance of winning this game. They've got to be able to control the clock run the football, and and kinda Dink and Dunkin they're passing game and hope that they hit a big one because it's hard to move eighty yards seventy yards against this. Clemson defense that way, so they're gonna have to hope that Dylan. Or leave either backup running back. One of these guys gets out hits a crease and gives them some potential big plays. But on paper, boy, this is a tough match-up. And and they know that, but the fact that they're at home, and and playing with confidence in hoping that their physical brand on both sides of the ball is the difference. I can tell you this clemson's challenging their team with. Hey, guys were looked at as fast and explosive. They're talking about physicality, you guys know how to be physical Dexter Laurence. Do you know how to be physical Christian Wilkins? Do you know how to be physical? They're saying you can't be physical up there in the cold. You guys going to be okay up there? Like they're challenging their team on. Can you meet the physicality of Boston College? And we'll see if the Clemson players, you know, put that that mentality on and kind of show them that it's not just a finesse speed team that they can get physical in the trenches because I've seen Christian Wilkins. And I've seen that whole. Offense. They typically don't have a problem rolling up their sleeves and going down the alley and decided to get physical against people. So be fun to watch. And you don't have to go in sprint off a set and waiting on could again shotgun. Rightly you're going. No, we're gonna game. I mean that was hilarious. Like do bear truck. "They've got experienced got talent. They've got sized, they've got speed, you know, they, there's not much you look at Clemson, say, gosh, what are they lacking? And I'm not sure you can say the same protective saying him. I think it'll be real test in the trenches. Obviously, they ran the ball very well. Their first game, I think it's going to be awfully hard to replicate against the defensive line and against Brent Venables of of Clemson. So I, you know, I'd say advantage Clemson, the other thing, they're being the program maturity that they can go on the road into hostile environments and play a high level. That's not a group that gets easily. Out on by where they are and who they're playing against. So I think it sets up very well for Clemson. I'm not sure it's going to be a route, but I think it's gonna win the game. Let me let me flip to the the Alabama story because has been such a big one all year long and I it's been hashed out. But first of all, your impressions of Alabama after week one you, you've watched this Louisville program from a pretty close view. They just didn't seem to be in the same stratosphere as the last couple and realizing Lamar Jackson is gone. Yeah. I mean, Alabama's you know, they're just operating on a on a level nobody else's operating on and they you, you put maybe the best playmaking quarterback in there that saving his head in his Alabama run. And now it's really scary. This is I think a team that's still going to take some some growing pains maybe defensively as they get more guys in spots where they're playing more and they've had a couple of injuries to deal with Louisville is really overmanned or outmanned in that area that they'll probably be some more difficult challenges to come. But I mean, I, I just look at Alabama and say, why shouldn't they be number one and be the prohibitive favorites, win it again this next year. And on the same question, many are least raising their eyebrows about his bending over backwards seemingly to protect Jalen hurts, even though it was. Apparent to many that Gaylon hurts was never ever going to be the starter. How do you see that? Yeah, you know, I don't know whether that was an attempt to just to keep him from transferring and wanting to to to make sure that he didn't feel completely unwanted and and the and in the fold, at least you know, I mean, he's had guys leaving August before or even later who had a chance to play. And you know, I think he knows that the backup is very, very important, especially if you're going to run your quarterback at all. So I, I, you know, I think there was that there may be beyond that some, you know, some loyalty to this guy that has been nothing, but a good soldier and perform pretty darn well in his time at Alabama. You know, I think he, he absolutely made the right move. The put him on the bench in the championship game and to put him on the bench to start this season. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have good feelings toward Jalen hurts and what he's done for the team. One of the best parts of of the kickoff last week. It was that the.

"You know usually coaches they have at least some like well if we don't get better here he said yeah we have talent deafen experience at every physician on the field the i think the only slight concern they have is brent venables at least depth at cornerback that's there like they can count on the two guys that are going to start but not much beyond that right now but there's freshman coming in that could be those guys so that team doesn't make the playoffs something went wrong because they're talented they're experienced in their schedule if you look at it pretty darn manageable because the team is usually their greatest adversary in the season florida state i think they'll be better than they were last year but i don't think that's going to be the kind of game has been in the past louisville doesn't have mark jackson they don't play either miami or virginia tech from the other side so you know you talk about obama schedule last week look at clemson's yeah yeah that's true good point in that was your last do we i also went to georgia by don't really have any great insight from that one i did visit with kirby smart and i'm gonna save that for story i have going up on the american on thursday that's another one where there's the established fresh quarterback who had a great freshman season having fend off the next guy justin feels i think that one's a little less obvious how it will play out but you still think it would take something pretty extraordinary for the guy who led the team almost the national championship as true freshman to lose the job into the next season i mean did you did you get a chance to talk to the quarterbacks.
