"Injured. Yeah, you're going to go over and do something, but PK was PK was probably happy. He had to leave that game because there were guys in the Devils. And they don't play again this year. I'm not that PK wouldn't have done it had he known they did, but he put a beating on a young kid who I don't think was trying to injure, you know, their best player. That's what happens, but it was certainly like, once you look at it in slow motion, it was a little different than what I saw in real speed when you thought maybe he really did stick his knee out. Yeah. But as we said with the beagle incident, you cave faces and then ask questions later. So that's kind of the matcher that we roll with around here. Now you just brought up the stutzle hit. I think we need to roll this clip because this is drawn a lot of controversy north of the border in some very choice words by Brennan Gallagher in which these guys play against the senators quite a bit, so grinnell roll that clip. You know what? When I was ten years old, our coach had a rule, if you lay on the ice and we didn't have trainers. If the coach had to come on the ice and get you, you know, you're too hurt to play. You have to sit for minimum three shifts. He's a great player, played against him for two, three years now. More than half the games we've played against him. He's laid on the ice. And he's right back over there next FTA's on the ice. He acts like he's her T cells a call, he's on the ice that same power play. You know, there's kids watching. We're role models. If I was a teammate is, I'd tell him to smarten up. You know, it's just not a good look. Very talented player, a very good player. He needs to stop laying on the ice it's embarrassing. RA. That's pretty. That's calling a guy out, man. He was disgusted. He gave him a little compliment at the beginning just before he ripped it and I knew asshole. It's like, good player, but. I went to try to dig a little bit. I asked URA if you found any stutzle dives, you said you saw maybe one online that ended up kicking up a little bit of dust, but I mean, one before this incident where I could strongly say that he ended up clipping him here where students will have every right to go down and be injured. Is it did look pretty freak. He ended up missing the next game as opposed to the injury. So what do you make of the overall comments and do you think Gallagher might have been a bit out of a line? I don't know if you asked him to be a whip, but I'll answer. I mean, he probably may be laid down once or twice where, you know, it's not something that's going to make a clip or a gift for whatever. But I watch that hit from Suzuki man. I fucking puked when I saw the way his knee and leg went. Like if this every time the state on the ice it was that. Oh no, I know, but did you think the hit was that dirty? No, no, for answer zoo. The Suzuki hit on it was a dirty. It's just the way he fucking landed. He had a reason to stay down is what I'm saying because I thought he would have been out for fucking 5 or 6 games. I had a turn away. I used to love that shit when I was a kid. Now I see injuries like I can't fucking, I can't watch my too much ridiculousness. Well, but he came back and played, correct? I think that game, but he missed the next game. Like the ecommerce for another ship, but business city missed the next game. We actually missed that next game because of hurt feelings because of what Gallagher say I wasn't even the meat. I just know and I think that there's thousands of people listening who played the game right now who probably know what I'm talking about in terms of like get up if you're not injured. And yeah, there's moments when you're probably scared and you're not sure if you're injured, but just get up. I don't necessarily agree with the way Gallagher went about calling them out, but I do agree with the message in terms of like being told when you're younger, if you stay down, your leg I was told, your leg better be broken. And if your hands hurt, you better get up 'cause your legs are skating you off the ice. You don't need to lay down even if your upper body's injured. And certainly there are times when it's okay to be on the ground. If you're injured and you need help, no doubt, stay down. But if you're okay, get up. And I think Gallagher is an old school type player, was probably told the same type of thing growing up. We had a kid on the kings, we were on the 97 Quebec P world championship. This was before we won. This kid would lay down on the ice every game. And his dad would come on the ice and I remember just being like, the kid got caught at one point. We can't keep having this. You can not be somebody who's known as a guy who's constantly laying down, needing the trainers to come out and then be okay to play again. So I'm not even saying still does that because I haven't seen enough of this games or haven't seen enough clips, but it seems like Gallagher's convinced having played against him that much that he's a guy that's willing to lay down and look injured and then always be okay. Yeah, he's on watch now, kind of like when slew band was going at it early in the season and then people were bigging up the old clip. So from now on, stutzle is on the ISO cam. So all you fans at hate on the senators make sure you're sending them those clips. And if we don't see one in at least a 12 month period, I don't know, maybe Gallagher was out of line there. Or for some of you, you Internet rabbit hole guy, send over the videos of studs actually laying on the ice. Now, somebody else rebutted by saying that Gallagher was being a bit of a hypocrite and sent in a bunch of his diving videos, but I will say there wasn't there might have been like one that he sold of the 7 that the guy put together. So whoever posted that video and fucking, you're a walk in L, just like we did over here. I get one of the best teams in the league since February 15th. You mean walking out? I'm a big giant W, like my last name begins with. All right, gang. After the last two years, people are more stressed out than ever before. And it shows up in all kinds of ways. I might get headaches, you might grind your teeth, have some stomach issues, stressed out..

"It's like, oh, it's just repeated last year. And they're gonna go out and have someone tweet me. Jack was on a plane already to Tampa Bay. Already there. It's funny though looking at this Montreal team. Just a box scores the stats. No one is above two points that played four games. There's only two people with two points. There's no other production. Like there's a couple guys at one point and then it's nothing. It is Tyler's voice zero. It's like drew and it's the only one who's scoring for them. To run as two goals. That's the most on the team. The next is I think Chris Weidman with one. And then that's it. They have three goals. So you tell me. It's not going to score 40 goals. Everyone said he was. Which is annoying because I put him on my top NCAA players for this year. I put him above Kyle Connor. I put him above who was the other that I missed. Oh, Jacob slavin. I put I really took a big leap there and this coffee feels to put up, you know, 25 goals. And so far, nothing Nick Suzuki. Brennan Gallagher, so they are not going on to be Thomas tuttle as the actual key until he will eventually want to show up in the playoffs as he does every year, but regular season, course he got toms to charge your guy. Beautiful. I'm not surprised though. I mean, I'm surprised it's this bad, but I'm not surprised this team regressed. I think out of all the things in the Atlantic that are happening right now, I think this is the one that's probably going to be consistent throughout the years. Montreal is not going to be good. I don't know why people. I mean, again, it's a cool young core, I guess. But that's about it. I don't know. And also, they don't carry pricing net. Jake Allen. That's a big loss. So I'm not surprised by this. I don't think it'll change much. I mean, maybe they'll win a game. That'd be cool. Maybe they'll do it. But yeah, that's been the Atlantic. I mean, I don't think there's that's a lot of weird little things. A lot of teams playing a lot of hockey, and there's the bruins, so. Yes, I know. By the way, the prunes are in 7th place right now. Time to sell every pie. 7th place. What a disappointment. And so you get a disappointment, by the way, the kraken. Which the Seattle kraken. I mean, too many people had high predictions for them, but like once they I feel like we all said once they did their draft, we were like, wait a second. How's he supposed to compete? And that's how they're going to score. And I mean, honestly, the more concerning so far has been the defense. I mean, they've had some bad breakdowns that. What does that look great over there? Yeah, exactly. I saw some people were tweeting about how they should have exposed gridlock and kept losing. I'm like, have you been watching the fucking games guys? No. No, apparently not. I know it's you know, time change out the Pacific. I mean, maybe not catching some of these games, but I think they make kind of the right call there. And also the people who were like, oh, this is a big loss for the bruins. It's like, I don't know. It really isn't. Left shot defenseman who was never going to pass your third pairing and had defensive liability issues..

Ahl team he had quite a bit of time there last year and he came back. You know for that It was a twenty four game season. Giants lose a couple games because of cova that's right But you know conners areas graduated from the whol he needs to be. You know playing pro hockey in calgary first round pick Justin sort of for his back for the giants is thirty. Four in twenty two last year last week we had a hot take about Whol mvp and battered potentially winning sixteen year old Sort of his probably in the mix. I mean Allies l. could be a real player. Here i could be a really and then the goaltender. They mentioned that dirani mentioned Victim an interesting him about him. dual nationality there swedish and finnish. It's not entirely rare There's a pocket there that we get a fair bit of overlap by magnus. Prd member magnus fence vr erin finished one parent swedish He has played. As ron noted internationally for sweden at three different age groups. He has also played at the alps. Fence can level which is the second tier of swedish hockey. So he's got some pretty decent experience pedigree to him as well big goaltender. Of course they all are these days but he's six foot he's six foot three And there was one other player. I wanted to highlight. All he met ronnie mentioned de peyton. Mount who's Victoria kid who had played for the seattle thunderbirds and You know he had a couple years ago now. He had a Thirty nine point season in sixty two games including fifteen goals in seattle played even fewer games than the giants last year. They played just fifteen games. So also know somebody to watch for the giants. This year should be fun and funny. We didn't get a chance. Ron about it but The giants have damon lane cow or cow. Of course it is. He a kamloops laser back. In the day damon land kelly was atrocity american. Ron owned the tri-city americans. Ron now has the son of one of his former junior players way. "They all their offense is generated off their own sticks right like they're not giving go guys. Neither guy passes really well and coconut me. First of all can't keep up with them. Skating wise just based on their guys capitalize on transition plays right turns over and they're off to the races. They wanna drive straight lines into the offensive zone cut in at the last second and he doesn't really do that so he likes generate offense either on the net front through the cycle through four check. Neither of those guys do that effective work on any of those respects so he's got nothing to work with right so it's an interesting situation that they put him in. I think that if you were to stay in montreal this year if they do match the most likely scenario was he plays with brennan gallagher. Who's like the center whisperer. I think we'd have a very different idea. Of what coke pammy is capable of be spends a whole season brand gallagher right as a disclaimer. We should say. We're recording this on thursday afternoon and by the time people listen. We might already know what the canadians doing. So i kind of wanted to get this out during frame it as like we're going to set the seed we're gonna talk about all the potential angles and so you've been after after the fact whatever the canes up doing here it'll still be useful to listeners. I think lake android that point here of how the hurricanes internally view kotkin yemi. I have no doubt that they value him highly as a player beyond the fact that scientists opera sheet because they did structure it so meticulously to the point where it does but the hurricanes and atop tough spot. "Doesn't make sense however contin emmy could help carolina after they lost. We're in fogel weren't volvo's integral piece. That tot nine right is a good part of their third line. I believe it was. He was on so you know. I lost him. The ethan bear trade essentially got a younger and better player however that cat his still super high and it just leaves montreal the cluster. Fuck down the middle. I mean like who they have. They have suzuki jake evans. I need to look at their daily their daily face off their line combinations because shit they have. who have they have suzuki right suzuki. Sorry i'm no. I'm looking up to okay yesterday. Sorry so they yes. Zouqi jake evans magic paquette. They got down in the center right now. If cockney emmy that goes to carolina who are you putting in there you go there. Goes your center tough. You know because you want to pay the five point five. La they're going to be trying to reach for. Casey says he has no kidding. But yeah i mean what else. Can they do like this. This lease this team. Who's already going to struggle to make the playoffs and the tough atlantic division this year a team without any center up. They have nothing. Now what are they gonna do. They have to do something. Because you can't go into the into the regular season with your first sciences. Yuki second-line jake evans third-line cedric pikit. Maybe jonathan drains screws over to the center on second line. The mike hoffman screwed up. But maybe you can make a work after durant comes back. But we don't even know if you're coming back so you know what. I mean like a line of my kaufman. Jonathan brennan gallagher. That'd be fine. that'd be good but like are no kendra. Actually play center isn't really center much recently drew. You know a. It's a tough thing and and this offer sheet from carolina really screwed up the montreal canadians. I think any hope to make the playoffs this season. I think yeah. I mean they made it on a whim. They may then. They made the finals on a fantastic cinderella story. Carry price got hot at the right time. and i. there's no repeat incite especially if this deal goes through know exactly i. I just don't see it happening. Hundred percent hundred percent. I agree with everything that you said. So let's get into some talk regarding this offer sheet okay. I'm glad that there's a a touch. It could this offer sheet. Meaning offer sheet from montreal. Pederson cap situation really looks like so probably not because anything under seven million dollars without a doubt would be matched without one hundred percent. Doubt i mean even more than that would be matched figure out a way. I mean patterson's not gonna leave but you could potentially royally fuck that can You know the vancouver knox Do they want to get into that whole mess again after. What just happened to them. Now you know. Jim benning jet black jim betting maybe it will find a way to get some revenge next season so special. Mix zucchini. i would like to think they're going to stay away from that type of business But it could be nice. Could be interesting. Well so yes so. I'm in the same boat. I think that they wouldn't do that because one they're at risk from another offer sheet especially with allison and romanov sukey those players..

Tsn hockey analyst former nhl player. Dave dave doing very well. Bright sunny day here in early august in toronto and in a moment of i guess relaxation for the first time in what seems like a really long time just it is although came a little bit later than usual as you and i were chatting about these these two seasons of sort of mashed together and we've been pushed into august as you say but we're to talk about filipino in the king's signing of him to that six year pretty big contract so before we get to What kind of player. He is on the ice and what kind of impacting might have on the case. I'm curious in your experience how much time you spent talking to him. Face to face how much experience you have dealing with him personally if any and and what your read on him as as a dude is yet non a lot of time face to face particularly in the last couple of years or You know so. I've been broadcasting montreal games for four seasons now and so interaction along the way locker room stuffing in scrums but not a lot of one on one time and a large part of that is my own schedule. Because i still split between toronto and montreal so a lot of times. I'm in just the data game to montreal or wherever they're planning to do that side of it so it's as much availability from my standpoint as anything but from every indication that i get from the people who work with them on a day to day basis. I mean this is. This is a you know a really really class individual handle themselves really well a pro in every respect and you can see that commode on the ice. I think that's pretty evident in how he plays the game the professionalism the attention to details the consistency of it. And you know. I have a special place for maybe in my own mind and my own game because he plays similar to the way i played even in the in the way the rules were developed for him. He had a much higher pedigree coming in as a first round draft. Pick the blackhawks but just the way his game developed what was asking him in a night tonight basis. I saw a lot of my own sort of career path. In what has taken place with philly. Let's talk about on the ice impact. There was a moment in In rob blake's media availability after the signing where somebody pointed out Or maybe they didn't point out maybe they just sort of hinted at the fact that Denault does not score a ton of goals and the idea was sort of presented. No be second line center presumably heading into this season and so the question was you know. Will you rely on him to score to score and and rob blake emphasize. Yes he'll score a lot of points drawing a clear distinction between points and goals and reminded everybody that there's more than one way to contribute to a team's offense so just looking at the knows that resume here never scores more than thirteen goals in a season but has multiple seasons of more than forty points. So is is the idea. That denote can't contribute. Offensively is that i mean. Where does that come from. Why does that persist white. Why has that become the elephant in the room and is it true. Well it was magnified this year because he went through exceptionally long stretches of play without scoring but was playing so well defensively that it didn't matter had the emergence of a couple of young centerman and very kotkin yemi nick suzuki in montreal. Here's what i would say to that. Jesse if i look at it in my career early in my career i was a top line center for philadelphia and i was on the first line with ryan prop and tim kerr and if you look at the kind of the curve of my career i scored points in my early years and guess what i was miscast. As number one center i simply wasn't number one center. Who was the best option at the time for philadelphia. And i remember when we lost in the finals that first year eighty four forty five thinking to myself their second line centers a guy named mark. Sea and and you know just not be ridiculously humble or anything. But if i'm our first line center he's their second right-center that that means we're not good enough that's just fact. And i think she denno maybe outstretched himself a little bit offensively and and became their number one center because there were no other options montreal. You know he was a secondly score on the team. He was the fourth leading score in the team. And that meant they didn't have enough to win. And i always look at him as a perfect perfect line center now can step up and play the second line role for short periods of time. Of course he can't and if you look at right now i mean. There's a couple of young kids that are coming in the la organization. Very well will fill that you know second-line center dodgy co qatar in a kid like quinn by field or maybe alexander and there might be other choices available because there's a real a real strong passive young players but as a placeholder for a year. Yeah i think he can be. An allergic part will be is playing with you. Know when he was playing with brennan. Gallagher and thomas tatar you. Would you would say about all of them. They were all a little bit. This cast as topline players to tar the best offensively on gallagher on perfect world is a third line player. Maybe high second but arguably third-line players so the three of them together sort of formed a similar thought process. And what i can tell you he is. He is a really good short game and in tight places in the zone when they were at their best they were a combination of five foot passes so on the cycle offensively. They were very very strong and and it was more eminent this year in montreal because they didn't have a lot more of a rush team and scored more off rush chances so i think from a standpoint of being a second line center to start things off with you'd be very comfortable with that you know and he's had well over the last couple of years before this when he averaged fifty points a year you know which is is no slouch and i'm going to steal a little bit of my my peer race ferraro's lying and zip about You know about jacques lemaire comment and said there's a plus end minus to a good sentiment so i can call you a forty goal score if you get fifteen and prevent twenty-five like really glaringly protect twenty five goals while what is a good defensive. Saturday would like to know what it wears his metric. and how does it measure. And i think that's a great way to put it because you have to look at both sides of the equation. You know he's been in the conversation top five or top six for selke in the last couple of years he gets all the tough starts on. That team gets all defensive zone. Faceoffs he gets all the penalty. Kill defensive on face. House is a real strong face off guy and he's comfortable with his own game you know everybody wants to score more but i think his comfort with his own.

Kill defense zone faceoffs. He's a real strong face off guy and he's comfortable with his own game. You know everybody wants to score more. But i think his comfort with his own.

"Right now in that seat i mean do you wanna talk about farting. You're talking on biz. If he has a piece of pizza after eating all healthy and scottsdale he starts ripping bombs the whole time he records. Yeah you know in your stomach gets used to healthiness and then you go on the road and you're a disaster the second look but you can't buy a cleaning lady to clean your office. You're the richest guy here. billy billy. Football cowards me when he saw a big cat broden buddy will are back to hockey. The goaltending situation. That was just a distraction to take our minds off the power plant really lack of offense when it mattered was. Did you think about how. I mean so i called the whole thing. That flurry was going back in for game. Five my and looking. It's easy to say now. But play leonard after he got the winning game four and then if he wins you just ride them and if he loses game five you go back to flurry back game. Six yeah every hunter. I've talked and texted with said they would have went back to flower for game for now. We've already talked about the fact that that decision had already been made. Deboer said any way he could he could have been just doing that to protect the overall breakdown of why he was doing it. And when but people said once leonard got that that game four victory was going back home that they should've went back with her now once again. The goaltending thing is that's why kind of outsource it's all these goals and they said yeah that that point gets a little fucked up but once again here we are talking about the goaltending situation when that wasn't the issue at all exactly it wasn't but you can change the vibe. I know what you're saying but it is. It is no excuse whatsoever and it was not the reason they lost. And the other thing about that series. Two is brennan gallagher. How he was able to get petra angelos kitchen. And i mean honestly. It doesn't really matter. That petrol was getting rattled and into it with him because he was the best player. Vegas hat all playoff. So it didn't slow him down. But that's just what this gallagher does he is. Just he's got that marshawn. He's not a skilled offensively. That elite level offense marchand but to get in your face in piss everyone off. He's the exact same player so we pretty much broke down. Most guys with With montreal with eric angles. A few guys we didn't talk about was gallagher and the impact he's made and i agree with you. It's just like he'll find a way to make an impact however we can whether it's in blocking shots whether it's him coming out coming out of his rhythm and game two like engage in be chirpin all time although that might be something that he can do comfortably another guy armenia. We didn't talk about who i believe is going to play in game one. Because he's taken a private jet down. They thought maybe he had co vid so he had to stay back in some type of protocol. But i mean that's an important piece going into this. I think i do know of course for the offensive impact. But we're talking about the penalty killing how big of a deal. It's been for montreal. Well he's the second second forward and ice time behind denault as far as far as how much he kills penalty so fuck. They're going against the juggernaut goliath here. Who has the best click and power play in over the last enjoy to watch. It's a pleasure to watch leisure to watch this play. They're going to need that guy who who knows exactly the routes to take and how to kill penalties against this team and if he's not in game one look for that to be. Maybe a a reason. Why swings tap is way few more notes before we bring on iraq angles. Then we'll talk about the tampa bay roundabout to vegas for only scored five goals in the whole series. Cole caufield had four himself. Vegas good is thirteen. Goals in the whole series. I mean we just tear offense already. Power play was nine point three during the playoffs for a team without much talent. I mean like you said they couldn't figure it out not just for as much relevance as anybody they were they were bad playoffs. And i think the biggest story Business series was celine. Dion native of quebec just ditching. The blue block at rusian bedding down with the vegas golden knights. I mean she's leaving home province. What's up with that. I think on a serious note. There was a fake picture that was circulating around circulating around the internet. But now saying that when she did a show when vegas got the town she did throw jersey on and she was struck out there. Now i think that whatever at the time it probably looked innocent but obviously this photo recirculated and everybody got all worked up from quebec. So i think cylinder on the hot seat so she better be supporting the the the boys in blue red and white. You say blue white for the canadians or blue. Blue and red blue blocked a rouge. That's all i was always taught. I don't speak french. So figured you might have known that. Mo- i and the other thing that's interesting is that's zucchini is a smart player. He's got so much skill he's young. He works great with caufield and for him to be a part of that deal for patrick eddie and to see how he played compared to two maximum in that series. It's it's a good trade. I think in the end and it's it's really hard to judge. Spent three years patrick. He's an elite offense of score but tatar was part of it a second round or was part of. I don't know who that pick was. And then suzuki. You got a possible future number one center there so it was not to put salt in the moon here but i was gonna say something that vagus probably has to look to address in the off. Season is trying to. I mean they don't grow on trees and we know how hard it is to get him unless you're buffalo giving away They got to get a first line center. True number one a true number one. I think they go after jack. Eichel this i don't think can they afford them. I mean they'd have to move some pieces. They try to move past ready at the deadline. So what if they they did this year. Wasn't that a rumor it wasn't i. Don't remember that room. But i don't remember member of the morning to rumors around here. Let's go with that okay. Yeah we're rumor guy where rumor mill patches the buffalo jack eichel else that series stone city actually skunked. That was already was. I got scott this. Yeah yeah like you know when he gets shadow playing horseshoes a fucking volleyball. Rice was money though. You save a marsha so in game mean he was unbelievable what to bring that up l. Let's see when his team can clinch a series last six appearances since two thousand eight nine five nine. Save percentage just seven goals allowed to shutouts..

three years thirteen Deboer two thousand seven goals Cole caufield eric angles patrick five goals quebec Six patrick eddie Dion two jack Two suzuki this year game four Eichel

Yep i think germany look decent. They did and then I'll go spain money line in the under three and half again as painful as that was the first time okay. Sweden looked like sweden played. Today i think sweden might be decent. You even talking about spain. Had their chances. They just don't have a guy that up top that maybe they make a change. Probably not though yeah. Let's roll through some calls here before a second half starts joe from connecticut. What are you what are you doing. Don i don i mean. Good call information forever from the bay area. What do you got amer. Ga- what's up. Boys do all stuff i call in. I curse the war years. It was the last game of the season But here i go. I gotta i got a great one guys tomorrow. The new jersey nets not the brooklyn new jersey net will win in seven. Kevin durant three and one game. Seven hardens. three. And one game. Seven zillion one they lost to the warriors harding and when kevin durant was on the warriors Lucky boys wish the labs with a one juniors and hammer down and women down hammer down To seven bucks are all time game seven. I'm sale time doesn't matter second half has started We'll see how it goes for a little bit and then we'll decide what we're gonna do here. Tommy i got some. Nba plays for rattled off. Is we're talking about some mba and worry huge utah jazz I'm taking the utah jazz minus two and a half against the al a fake team clip. Which is gonna play right. There's no way he doesn't. There's no way donovan. Mitchell doesn't play. Donnie mitch is going to get the dump for the boys. They're going to cover the spread. It's all good there. Paul george is gonna choke just like he always does and then also. I'm taking the atlanta hawks. Plus two and a half and the beira if held on it if they would've scored here one minute and second i would have been fucking limited. Left fucking livid. Sorry what was the second one. You had hawks yeah. I got the hawks to cover Plus two and a half is what i gotta matt and then that's really it There's a trae young boost that i saw twenty five plus points and the hawks to win close to sixty or something something. Nice sprinkled on Victor from michigan got Well i'll be kind of took my ex but hamdan famer don madonna. So what are you like you like anymore. More openings Budget also shot out england scotland. I took the under got paid out. And i'm paul that you've always went for the fucking redcoats fucking. Shame not happy. See victor what he expects is going to have. I mean it's easy to come at people after a bet doesn't hit you know what's usually how it goes right. It's easier to say it was a bad bad after the bed is coming. Gone calling pittsburgh. What are you got. What's up boys hammer down. I'm sorry about that Tough eh but got something for those montreal boys hopefully they can pull it off tonight and maybe you know. Enjoy your money lines plus thirty five. No no go player. Props got brennan gallagher. Score one school montreal. One game four twenty. He's a little bit of a test around the net expecting to hit something. So thank you. Jesus galleries like marshawn. Light is always talk about cagey fell. He had his head busted open last game. That a lot gallagher score. Hopefully it's in the first period and hopefully vegas dominates the rest of the game. But i do like. I'm really intrigued by this game tonight. Yeah i have no like. I honestly think it's feels like a toss up it really does. Do we know how many people are going to be in many two thousand five hundred twenty five thousand. Go twenty yeah. I don't know coach though. That's a wild scene to yeah in digs earlier. Does it matter maybe. Because your home and with the advantage for changes your last change and everything. But i don't know like. I feel this point now with how far along they are. That's a veterans group. too. I think they'll still be okay without them. But it's webber's they're not gonna they're not gonna just all the sudden dry it's not. It's not like missing a head coach in the nfl or missing a play call. Now it's it's so it's such a fluid sport that it's more about the in game management in the situations and the adjustments are able to do. The montreal knows their game. They know how they have to play. I think they'll be executed the same without him. Yeah regardless i still thanks and relation baby but first period canadians mounts great hair not gray hair. But what do you want. Bill know what. You're so proud about. The i'm not touching your fucking your rooms off limits. Did i touch. And you're focusing. Jalen that jane very well jacob..

Paul george tomorrow kevin durant Kevin durant Donnie mitch jacob two thousand one game atlanta hawks one minute three Today evan foxy Mitchell fourteen thousand dollars seven donovan tonight two twenty five plus points

"You guys play just like your high on man. It really was only a matter of time. All what a glorious day i'm strutting. I'm crowing celebrating. I'm busting jerry. I'm boston james tonight. Hang on. I want to do it. I to live blues rock close. I mean remember the national media season. They're out there pretending to be objective but in reality tongue bathing the blue team at every turn they keep asking like these slobbering bull terriers. Is this the the year for the leafs. Finally all the pieces are in place. Is this the year. And i don't know if you mean is the leaves year to lose to the lowest ranked playoff team in round one. You amine. It's the leafs year to blow a three one series. Lead is at the year the leave suck ass again. Yes yes it is all those things. You don't feel sorry for them at all. Steve a little bit. no nothing. maybe. I've got a couple of reasonable leaf fans. I feel kind of badly for them but No no it says because because of what the media does and what lee fans due in their here in ottawa. I have a hard time feeling any sympathy whatsoever. It's it's in my nature really well. It's it's fun you know it's fun right. Of course right i. it's sorta the gentle ribbing happens fan. I am beliefs in helped win. The peds lose although in my neighborhood. Cvs always driving around. There's a couple sitting in their driveway. It's beautiful here today. Nice weather it's going to be nice. All we nice guy. They've got the television out okay. And they're eating dinner and they've got the game on okay so the fun thing so i stopped. What's up. you know. I go up out of the car. Watch a bit of it there. The guy goes What's the score at. At that point it was one. Nothing okay one zip and a cheering for him. The guy's frenchaccent halves again cheering for the apps and his wife's there and i go you who you cheering for the leafs right. I said okay okay. That's my and the husband goes. But but i don't know why you're cheering for the leafs. She says fuck you. Oh wow gonna little stevie. He got a little heated with the couple. Okay i thought this whole thing's supposed to be sort of a deal. I guess right you live in edmonton. You know you've got. The little leafs. Halves rivalry gone might might be grounds for an old man. Steve maybe in the ad inside that is going to be a very romantic ending to the evening. I don't think Somebody is sleeping on the couch one or the other and the other one had party favors going on whooping it up. Yeah there's there's rabid fans out there stevie leads nor will ever compare certainly in this country of course right the they'll be nothing. Nothing will ever be like. Nothing will ever replace it. No rivalry nothing nothing. I can't think of anything. Steve any sport in our country. And you know you don't travel very often the states but i have and You know the leafs fans irs like there's a million more than that more than a million canadians who live in la. You know right right. Who's who are who are hockey fans but anyway it's it's it's a great rivalry now. It's divided the nation really. I mean what's funny though is that they've really not met very often. This is only the third time since nineteen sixty seven. I guess They've actually met. They met a couple of times in the late seventies. And then this year and it's kind of weird when you think about it because like for most of the nhl is history started in nineteen seventeen. And they're only four teams so for the most part through the entire first fifty years of the nhl history. There were only four to six teams. It was a very small league reizo. The lifson has represented a third of the league and yet they only have met in a hundred and four years sixteen times. Oh it back in that day. Oh yeah sixteen. Times total in the history of the nhl. So it's kinda weird they they haven't gotten together more frequently than they have. And so i think that's a little something something to it. Not only is it a great first round upset for the montreal canadians but it's against a a very good team and for older fans in particular who used to watch one of those teams every single saturday night when that was all you really had to watch. It had kind of a special feel to this year. Well i'll tell you what else is unique. Which makes it unique for. Sure i've had the i had last night. I was watching television and a local newscast. Now the oilers are out. Of course. So i don't know if they're glomming onto try and create stories but i think they would have done this anyways even if the orders were in there they had a whole they had. They had a fifteen minute piece on lifson halves fans in edmond. Ok like the on the street. You know showing people's houses. How their decorating is this is. This is kind of crazy. The old leaf the leaf sent thing so yeah like like a full on full on ten minutes stevie on the news last night i loved the least in the house with a history of it and all this stuff so there you have it. How do they loose tv. Leave people so they let fans into the game which was weird. We knew that In game six montreal had twenty five hundred fans in quebec seems to be a little more relaxed. I guess when it comes to shutdown stuff but out of the blue earlier today because we're recording this on the game day itself and They actually had a deal where they let five hundred fifty fans into the game and it was was they let all the All the frontline workers although the nurses and doctors and all the usual suspects who helped us through cova here and the gag online was got having those poor people had enough. All sure senegalese game. Now dare you anyway. It was a it was a kind of neat to see everybody there and and it just makes the game to have fans in the stands couple of notes on the game itself. I honestly thought that you got crap that really set the leaves back. I that gallagher goal jack. Campbell is pretty good for the leafs through this whole series but there was a couple of glitchy moments and that was exactly the wrong time. I mean the lease of already got the whole world of pressure on their shoulders given their history given the constantly being talked to about the this rivalry in the and this this long drought. They're on and they're in game seven. They've blown the last two games right and all the pressure was already on them. The last thing they needed was to be chasing the game and giving up the first goal and really starting to doubt themselves and that was a garbage goal. By brennan gallagher. No basically steps over the toronto blue line so he's a right shot. If you can picture that you're a right. Shot going on the left wing over the blue line. And so basically you're you got no leverage for the most part you get an all from the shaft of your stick and it takes a snapshot on the ice somehow. Some way beat jack campbell and that made it one. Nothing montreal in. They really didn't look.

"The season that year with the Montreal Canadians. As a right winger. Was kind of relates to Someone that I want to talk about. Anyway, This is all fascinating, so no. Two parents. Go to try out at eight. And they asked What position you're limiting your chances to make the team of you say one position. You really are. 15 spots in the team. If you say center this Ford or three, you say wing there's eight but probably going to play your side because that's what you do. Lefties play left side now. I don't understand that either. Let's talk about this. Sam Reinhart. No Jack Eichel ever. The biggest criticism of him over the years was number one Can't play center in the NHL draft. It is the sentiment has to play wing can't play without Jack Eichel. No Jack Eichel. Now playing center. Tendon league scoring 22 roles. What do we do with him? Is Whispering my time to you more. I don't know why you guys are are hesitant and asking this I mean, I said, and I asked the question because I'm back and forth on Sam Reinhart all the time. All the time. Um s so I want you, Petey. To try and help Rob and I. Oh, and we're gonna We're gonna, um you're going to be the GM. Okay? You're gonna sit down for the day you're gonna again. Tell me the number Tell me the contract number length the whole shooting match for us to be able to keep Sam right heart to keep him. Yes or what? I'm offering him upon the gear. I'm fearful of the GM, because I probably know realistically that Sam would probably like a change of scenery. So I'm very grateful for how he's playing so I can maximize maximizing trade value. But if I have to pay him to keep him Have to pay him at least Is not what Andrew Peters would pay him. But what about this, but I think the GM of the team would have to pay him. At least The first number seven. Huh? So 7,000,007 point. 257.5 Is what I feel like I'm going to have to pay. It's a Skinner. Nine million. You paid skin or nine million after a 40 gold season. What is Sam on pace for 36? He's gonna ask for eight. Last year. He was asking for seven this seriously. Listen, I mean, I mean, I know that samurai honor is going to go in and he's going to be talking about Jeff Skinner's contract, but I don't think anybody should be talking about Jeff Skinner contract. Okay. I mean, it's just something that we should not be talking about, and comparing guys to Jeff Skinner's contract. Just leave it alone. Let's just not even go there. Sam, right. Glad you're saying that is maybe the GM. We don't have to that that works them. Ryan, hardest produced. We can all sit here and say that he has produced Throughout his career. Came in the league at 19 years of age. Scored what 21 22 goals that year. Um, had 40 42 points as a rookie. Pretty damn good year. And then he followed it up the next year. With an even better year. Okay. 47 points. And then the next year. Beyond that, we ask our young players. We need you to continue to push and get better. What does he do? He scores 25 goals and has 50 points. When he's 2021 years old. That was not good enough. For a long term contract. They asked Sam. You need to show us that you could be even better than that. We're gonna sign you to a two year deal. Okay, We're gonna give you a bridge gap. You have to show us The next year, he scored 22 goals and had 65 points. He showed them. Okay? Last year of that deal. In 69 games had another 20 goals. He had 22 goals in 50 points he was on for on pace for high high fifties say, 58, maybe even 60 points. Okay. So where you going? With this year again this year again? They He finishes his bridge deal. They say no, no, no, no, Sam, you need to show us you need to show us more because we're still not quite sure whether we want to sign you to a long term deal. What did Sam want alone 22 22 goals. He's 10th and league scoring is 36 points in 48 games. He's on pace for 30 39 40 goals. He's on pace for 55 60 points again. And we're sitting here again talking about Sam Reinhart and what we pay him. His comparables or two guys. They're extremely extremely comparable in the goals in the points and ice time, everything. And that's Brendan Gallagher for the Montreal Canadians. And Chris Kreider. When the Rangers and that's what I That's what you know what I don't like is that you're comparing you're comparing statistics and apples and oranges at the same time. Similar statistics, but apples and oranges. What do you mean by that? You know exactly what I mean by that. I don't know. I don't. I don't know. Are they the same type of player? Do they get the same stats the same way? Like this, Chris Kreider get it starts the same way Sam Reinhart and his Brendan Gallagher or do they play with different with a different style of player? Would say all three of them are actually very similar in their style. They're just a little bit different. They're a little bit different in stature. You have you know a Chris Kreider, who is £225. He's a six ft three guy. You know, Sam Ryan Hurt is a six ft. £295 and Brennan Gallagher's a water bug, and he's like 5 £980. Well, we we, you and I can can continue this conversation in the next hour. But Rob's here and he's gotta leave soon. So Rob is er do you Is there a theory because we have to go to break and then we're gonna come back and talk about a couple tilts and league last night. Have a theory on this with with what's happening with Sam. He's playing exceptionally well. Hey, He's done everything they that they've done everything they asked. He's improved every year, she said. Uh, would you like to keep him? Heck? Yeah, because he's good. And he's He's proving it and I think he's proved a lot of people wrong proved it every year, unable to play multiple positions and being an exceptionally well and You know? What could he have done? If you know he had Jack all season long? What? That not that number could be. Doubled by now, you know, or or much, much higher, obviously. I don't know. I just think that all I think we talked about this, but it's going to come down to the direction these guys are going to decide to go in attendance. And you know it, Sam, the kind of guy you want around young kids. I hope so. And I would think so. And I think he could, you know, do an awful lot for these guys. You listen to the jury yesterday, asking who stuck up in the room here, The leader and Sam was one of the first guys, he said. That So I'm happy to hear that. I'm happy that Sam is, you know, accepted that role taking it on and I just think that It's all going to depend on where they're going, Whether it's you know, see if we can build the give Mitt. You know what at, you know, a different look or on the other side to what it's saying. How do you make those changes like Sam is? Would you say 27 Pointy 25 25 years old. Is you looking at?.

"His playing time as well. You're just in a situation where you're playing two games in two nights and you dress haley here who you know zoning and play anywhere from three to six minutes so you're effectively down a guy upfront. So you guys are already probably a little tired by the third period. And now you're playing shorthanded. But the weirdest thing and the biggest second guessing i would do would be in a play that happened in the second period games going along fine. It's zero zero you know. The sensor probably being outplayed a little but not by much right in the game zero zero and it's about seven minutes into the second period and air could branson's been out there for a while big lumbering defensemen for the sends and he wanted to dump it in and change in the worst way and unfortunately he doesn't take that extra stride to get over the red line and could have. There was room to do it but he flipped it down the ice so it's icing and he has to stay on the whole line asked to stay on. That's the rules right. But the whole line is gassed. And so ottawa takes a penalty a moment later because they're gas but for some reason at that moment. The good news. Is you know even though you have to kill a penalty now you can get a fresh lineup out there for some reason. Dj smith leaves good branson out there to kill the ensuing penalty. So good branson is done out on his feet. Almost surely has has one of the worst shifts. I've seen all season because he's gassed. He not only loses track of his guy and a score he flubs it on one trying to get it out of the zone. The hab score a short time later and as Brennan gallagher scoring good branson high sticks gallagher in the face to the point where you can actually see the black tape from good branson stick blade on the front two teeth of gallagher. So it's a former senator and then the haves score again so it's one of the worst shifts i've ever seen and i can't even begin to imagine why. Dj smith would leave him out there. Is it possible that because this guy didn't ice the puck properly or at least get over the red line to dump it in and change that he that he basically said you know what. Stay out there. Get back out there. I know you're i know you're gassed. Don't care get out there. You're a hero. You wanna district. It almost seemed like that that had to be the mindset. Because i can't think of any other reason now maybe thinks he's superman or something but everybody could see the guys clearly bagged and he's still threw out there to try and kill a penalty and it miserable just a miserable shift as a result. Well you're a great raconteur stevie. How's that for word storyteller. Dad so i you set that up perfectly. You set that up. I felt like i was right there. Watching the game and i was immediately after going. Okay this is interesting. Why and i immediately went he. He's pulling a john tortorella here. You know weird torts isn't how obnoxious and overbearing. Sometimes you just wanna tell them. Would you shut up man. This the way handles himself in the bad side of tortorella okay. The way handles himself from press conferences with one word answers. And all that stuff. And i'll tell you how. I you know you don't need to know anything for me. I get to do what. I want with my players. He said that before right you. Don't you get an answer. Their stuff like that and then he would often do this right. I was only a week ago. Something he was on for something they said why. Why did you do that with this guy. I think it was the big trade. Dvd and he sat lining right when he when he moved over. Sam like for a whole period or something and they ask. Somebody says it's not an unknown. Your business it's not what you think it is and all this stuff right. So he's a bit of a dink. Tortorella can be. Yeah so dj smith not not so much right but the only anyway. When you're telling me that. I said i know he's doing that because he's pissed at the guy he's pissed at the guy. Here's the problem with that. Okay here's here's the problem with that. It's not this isn't recess where we're teacher comes out because you've misbehaved and says okay now you gotta you gotta you gotta to shovel the sidewalk. Because you're idiot. Okay you gotta stay out there after. Stay jolt yeah or the rationale when when when some guy catches his son experimenting having a cigarette for the first time. All you want you want to smoke. I'm gonna smoke this whole pack. You know you sit down and smoke it all right now. It's like this tough love thing. It's it just seemed like an emotional reaction but this is a team game and You wanna do something. Like tortorella doesn't sit a guy controversially that's fine to you. Basically you basically gave montreal on three by putting a gas guy out there to kill a five on four. Yeah and if. I'm if i'm looking at that you know i'm calling dj smith in. Even if i'm the assistant gordon. Do you know what we have practices. That's why we banked skate guys okay. That's why we cover curfew okay. That's why we that's why that guy has to get embarrassed in the locker room or something. Okay you don't dare fucking game. You know use my language. I said game you you don't you don't right. Sorry about that steve. I'm sorry yeah you just don't that's that is like i don't know childish. Plus you're harming the team do it will be interesting to see what the reaction players and you could almost talk me into it if you're in a scenario where it's a young player a young core player and you're really upset with him they say okay. This is a long term project we go in here. And i gotta get this kid on the straight and narrow and this is how i feel like i should deal with it is. It's not even that at play here because air could branson's on an expiring contract. He's a veteran. Most people believe you'll be show shipped out if the deadline so this is not. This is not anything like that. So right in the area we saw it in the movie. Hoosiers gene hackman as the coach. It's basically he's got A short bench and one of his stars is not flying right. He's playing individual ball and he benches him but then he runs out of players at the end. He's only got four guys on the floor and he's got no one else to us but the guy he's just benched and he says to the referee mitee my my teams on the court right now and And he was trying to to his core guys. He was trying to set a set. An example and And i could almost get my head around that. That's fictional of course in a movie. But i could see a coach doing it in those circumstances but with a veteran who's not part of the long term future this team it made no sense. All you're doing is is weakening your team for these this upcoming penalty kill and Yeah it was. And i don't think he came in from a perspective of screw the team. I just think it was an emotional moment and think it was a mistake. Well i guess maybe gets a pass right you. Maybe these guys are bulletproof co you know and and you see it all the time right. They make mistakes. They make make mistakes. They puck gets intercepted. They didn't dump it out when they could have tried to make a move. You could buy buy buy results in a goal and all that shit and you don't you don't need to sort of point out to everyone. What happened there right. Bonehead moved by the defense right or bad back checker lazy or something. So what happens. You know it happened so maybe the coach gets a pass. You know maybe just snapped and said f you good brands. You want to do that okay. I'll show you but yeah it's like being what's his name. Bab goal is the other night. For saint louis binga jordan's bennington bennington binghamton bidding and usually that guy's hands and feet steve above all the other players. That's getting good reviews because every time he said people are hearing it for the first time and they keep sending me notes. Like judy said today screwed up that metaphor yet. It's kind of a thing now. It's kind of an ongoing gag. Well it's like fifty. You're supposed to say heads and shoulders but you didn't do that. You went hands and feet. Didn't you Anyway he's hands feet above all you know everybody else's the guy in the team you know he's got them into the frigging stanley cup right. That was him anyway. This guy goes bananas okay. He goes bananas and and sure enough. Gonna pull him aside and go. That's all fine there. You're a little personal agenda dude. It's not personal anymore. Okay now now you're going to get frigging run. Every we talked about it at length. The you're gonna get run your spirit. You're going to get crashed into the net knowledge. You're harmonised so you can't have coaches doing that. Shit you know. Like i said i think i don't. I don't accuse the guy at all of intentionally. Because i think he is a team guy. I think he's a raw raw right team. Guy just think it was a moment where and we all make those emotional mistakes. And i'd like to do that one again. That probably wasn't my finest hour but anyway we'll take time out of the program. You mentioned john tortorella. He's in the news Matt murray with something. That made me chuckle.
