"But you know again minnesota here there two data points thus far just have not been strong at all whatsoever san jose state. I moved up four points and this may be one. I may have to move up again sometime soon. Texas and then transfer in arkansas transfer nickel. He kinda bounced around the sec. For a while. But now he's with. San jose state san jose state a pretty good offense in mind in former wide receiver brent. Brennan bailey is probably the best wide receiver that nobody talks about college football. I san jose state. Four points may not be enough. We'll see what happens with their game here this week. They do step up in class. Though on friday night taking san diego state. I'm right in line with the market. I've got this one. Ten markets nine and a half but san jose state warranting a big upgrade here in my power ratings for this week wake forest. I bumped four points. I've talked about this when a few times that i've been kind of slow in the market in wake forest. Same thing with virginia who. I moved up three points as well. Then finally i bumped new mexico down. Four points by line was way off last week against san jose state way off even when they adjusted the venue so dropped new mexico down four points here one other thing and this is very important. I should definitely talk about this. I've changed my baseline homefield advantage to be two points. Now as opposed to one in the article over at ats dot io. You could see my home field advantage calculations for any team that doesn't have the default home field advantage if there's nothing in the hfa box their home field advantage to. And i talked about this with brad powers last week. I made a bump of every team for this week here in my power rankings. But as i said my baseline is now to there are some teams. There are two and a half. There are some teams that are three here a four week ten and we'll if i have to make another adjustment as we go forward here in subsequent weeks but it does appear that the oddsmakers going with something much closer to regular home field advantage that i was part of the reason. Why my numbers have been off in some of these games. But again i think home teams were forty eight percent going into week nine. Haven't rerun the data here yet but the home team's really haven't done exceedingly well this year so usually it's about a fifty fifty proposition this year. It's not i do think. Homefield advantage in the market is being evaluated a little bit too highly but i did make some adjustments to be a little bit closer in line with the market and and again. I know that a lot of you probably don't do power ratings. Hopefully this solo segment has some benefit for you. Maybe it doesn't but you like to try and be close to in line with the market. You don't want a bunch of wild discrepancies in your numbers. Like i had last week. I've got a handful of them here this week. None to his high of a degree. As i had with some of last week's game but if the market has evaluated home field advantage to be around three points i can disagree with that but i don't wanna be at one point. I don't wanna be that far off. From what the prevailing number is so. That's why i did make that adjustment. And like i said we'll see if that winds up being enough here as we go forward a handful of games where i am off on the market to touch on here today western michigan and akron. This here the wednesday night game akron. Is it home my numbers thirteen and a half here western michigan road favorite. The market is eighteen and this one is moving away from my number. Now i think western michigans down a little bit this year. I think this is a perception based play on the idea that akron was so bad last year and probably won't improve that much this year and that certainly is a possibility. Akron could just be an absolute bottom feeder once again and look the thing of it is. i've got akron. As the third worst team in the country in my power ratings only louisiana monroe and umass are lower than accurate who is also tied with bowling green. Now maybe my numbers are a little bit too high on those two teams because my line is a little bit cheap here on bowling green and toledo that lines twenty two in the market. I've got it nineteen. So maybe i am a little bit too optimistic on akron and bowling green coming into this season but we had a total here. You know in the in the upper forties low fifties likely for a lot of this for a lot of these games here. Fifty five and a half. I think is a little bit high of a total four. This western michigan akron game as the rest of the market opens. That one will come down a little bit. But i think eighteen to high in this game by going to bet akron probably not but with that being said i think this lines a little bit too high so this is a case. Where again this week. One of the mac. So if western michigan wins by seventeen wins the box or comfortably. I will adjust my numbers. Michigan wins by fourteen in the box. Scores pretty close. I'll have a slight adjustment in my numbers. I think this lines a little higher eighteen but again there's really no reason to run out there and rush to bet on the akron zips. I bet you'd already that. I did upgrade nevada. Four and a half points this week but my wine is still low on this utah state game on thursday night here. I've got an eleven fifteen and a half sixteen out there in the marketplace and.

"WHAT UNQUOTE SAITO maladies to grow up for based on like shit that he's talking about giving credit because he left on a stretcher and it's never a good thing. But like I said, he's had this type of injury before and. It's it's weird. 'cause you've had fighter. We've seen it happen like in championship fights seen happening. I was kind of reminded of like when it happened I mean rob you're on the fight companion rudy were there before we the fight started we made after Dickens and I said, you can go back and find it six hours in our. So they're. GonNa. Kick, o'malley to the legs and that's the way to beat him not easy to do kind of way I always seem John Jones getting beat but the minute he got kicked what happened. So. I seen happen at some point and Eddie wine was never a guy that was going to really bring the fight to him. I cheat though Veira was so like I said I in the chat with the vibe accrue by companion I, picked Chico bear to be John o'malley i. I have no doubt in my mind that he would be in and it sucks that it's his first fight at a fighting the top guy or topped eighteen guy and he takes a loss. It's all good. We seen them all lose separate John Jones Sean o'malley future will determine like early said many times we fight snacks and what happens and we don't know how long it's going. Now tell you what happens to the leg Bardo you know this? When you kick that we started picking that lower leg you can hit that nerve. There's unearned that run down the side of the either inside or outside of that angle, and if you hit that nerve. GIVES DROP Automatically, until that until they had a willing comes off that nerve. I've had my buddy Brennan Bailey. He had it done to him in a fight because if you watch for who turns ankle, it's because he can't push. It looks like he has dropped but that foot is this when he went to push this way and fold. In just rolls runner Nathan like drop foot. You know what I'm talking about. BERTA. When I watched it as soon as I seen that as soon as I seen that foot role that west manager they bus that nerve in his ankle. As you. Best WII around. That's why he was real ginger on that. He actually went to push for offense. It does this. Is what people don't realize drop, but it's that front of that Kef is up front of that. Shin. When you hit that nerve back here affects the front of that foot and the drop food is you can't support the weight of the foot anymore the front don't work hold that ankle up and when he goes completely roll runner Nathan. Like that. That's why he had to get carded up probably because he couldn't long. Leg injuries are always I mean if you're an anime fight thereby. It's it's. Serious. Pre existing injury he had by a county. Recall I thought about like the by happening on a championship level. Remember when the Be Jose Aldo. The Korean. Zombie was doing damage to Jose Aldo like he was looking. Brought the fight to more than anybody had before his God damned shoulder dislocated what it Jose Aldo do. Shoulder. Busted him up and finish the fight arlen their lives compromised. Put them away. Did his job credit tomorrow bear he's he's a killer man I mean anybody that fights that guy he comes from a great camp They were probably looking to kick the legs out of Sean o'malley. It worked to o'malley had a good first round he was doing well until he got kicked and it happens and o'malley's won't be back. He's GonNa. Fight. Tough because you know he was telling the US's stop giving me the barebones I want the real deal. GotTa real deal fighting Marlin Chico and took loss but it'll be back and verizon his on on the way. I like to. It could do it at some point I'd like to see that too. I would just like see rematch based on the fact. Of what I feel about that droplet it and when he but I think he hit that nerve the way that foot look So I I would like to see the rematch NC bit. Much of a factor, any of that late in realistically you WanNa move. So. That that nervous called a deep. Perrin you'll nerve. Right. That's right where the ankle. Needs the leg. Also, you he heard that dude. Game on dropper. and. That's what it looked like. From from the moment, he tried to push off that leg dispel. It would just. Twisted that that ain't bad. Yeah the that's what I felt like what I thought it was, but let's Run. It back. You know put it all the critics bad or With all the critics bad or o'malley. He was right. One of the other. Young people are GonNA think Malcolm South thinks it's not a loss, but it's loss in the loss column after Lewis. John. Cavanaugh come out and say like you said Robin mentioned you know the technique, the part of the body that was compromised and and it fucking happens man and like I said, you know the way to beat John John's way to be channel Malley and similar man. It's crazy that Sean o'malley foot three guy that fights at one thirty five. Millimeter. Way The does he eat? Pretty crazy by. Awfully, the the surgery or what the deal is set back in his time on the show he gets well, you'll come back and yet they run a back of love to see it but he's probably on the shelves till when twenty one I'm thinking absolutely. Fits really that bad of A. Of An injury it's it's going to take surgery to fix it. Now, and you never know if he's GonNa ever fight the again or be the Sami. Expressly expressly if it's what I think it. If it deals with that nerve situation. That's a bad thing to be messing with. And they couldn't even high because it was so swollen. So they had to wait till the swelling goes down to even to an MRI. Knows can damage is gonNA cause you know between. The fight in now or you know who knows if they even do their Marai this week or not? But Yeah it's It's crazy. Man That injury when I saw it the very first time I was like shit he hurt his ankle. And also to before we get to the main event and we thought about that worth noting the biggest underdog, the upset of the night Daniel Pineda when they're smashed. Herbert Burns and to. Return to the UC after being out for seven years, comes back and I I was saying it in the breakdown of the FI companion, it was a five for burns to win and Daniel Pineda said Hell no I'm coming in here to kill and fucking. He worked a man I was as a bad ass performance from him. Made it look easy. You will see that herber would fight. Better than what he did consider whose brother is. Missed weight so things. Working well for him going into this fight. But. Now that for coming back, you know seven years like you said, a seven year layoff. And just destroying Burns man i. mean he took him down easy who's dropping those elbows easy. Turning Burns. You know like if it was just as first pro fight. Yeah he put a hurting on him and a very humbling loss has beaten. Yeah he's. He's GonNa have a tough. You know next time around whoever is matched up with I think we'll see what the real you know forever burned bounces back and continue to got eleven three record dangle Canada's got forty fights in his. At I got the experience factor and really you know.

"What's going on right now. I can't do things that we have to be close. Adult discretion is advised but seriously kids of all ages are welcome. Even you've grown up. Kids Cup was the island on spotify or wherever you listen to today. Explained back asked ha ha ha. He's got the Pipe Jersey on L. All the right moves right Tom. Cruise and that's my only Anti Football Jersey. If you know all the right moves the other Johnston we. We talk about slapshot the other John Wayne movie with Tom Cruise. Craig t Nelson and the Hot Lee Thompson. I think she's still hot and she's like almost sixty But this isn't my only all right moves jersey. I actually have a thirty three the George Jersey. That just came about a month ago so I'm really proud about that but I wanted to just wear the Generic Football Jersey today show so ed is the color commentary. Dater four the richland high school rams and Ed. I agreed season last year. Final is that correct. Forget lost to southern Colombia In the semi-finals The southern Columbia. Who is touting recruit recruiting the country and Julian Fleming went? Got The face him there. Quite a program out there and They really deserve their national championship for their state tile again. I should say not national championship title. Think it's their Their tenth one In the recent posture there quite a powerhouse and richland had a good fortune of Making it there and facing in the semi finals and hoping to get another crack out on this year. So what's the secret sauce with the Richland? Rams because I'm GonNa tell you Brian from what I've seen And I'm actually the play by play announcer. I Apologize Sanity is the color commentator. You remember Fred very very well. I know Fred very well coach. Would I went to a penguins game once with Fred? When he was the head coach he was former head coach former special teams coach and the athletic director so I get to work with Freddie Every PJ McGowan Again One of your your classmates one of my classmates. I got a call him out on this. He was the star of grease the musical and I was one of his Co stars. We were both not tbirds Burger Palace Boys. Pj and I. I always knew it was Paul but PJ and then again nobody knew is bad back then either so great guy as well. I graduated with PJ getting back to your question. Brennan Bailey came on board. I think this is going to be nineteen season. If I'm not mistaken as the rich RAM head coach Brenton had a great career at at Forest Hills His father was the coach there and his father just retired this last year. So he can watch measurements on Koby Play FOR RICH. Ram So Brandon came on the program. Really got humping Brandon. Roy Guesses kids in August. A mob and some camp story off season. Kids are buying into the program. They start in first grade so You join us a richland rocket of I two years first grade second grade. You play flag football but you're playing under the richland scheme of play so these kids when you start your learning the Richland Ram playbook when you get the third fourth fifth sixth. You're playing tackle football on the same thing. You are running the offense when you get to junior high school. You're just between Tom. You hit high school if you stuck with that program from the beginning you. There's nothing you have to learn Brian. It is hard work dedication get into camps when I go into the weight room. Everything's a competition. But it's a fun competition. Kids get motivated and you see it on the football field They had a tough run of injuries. couple of years ago at one point they had seventeenth starters out and watching brandon coach. The team I I was in the second year of this major disaster of injuries. I got the interview after every football game and some of the Football Games. I mean my. Gosh you're down. You got six kids hurt one game. You're on your eighth running back. You can find them and they're pulling kids from everywhere just to just anything sidelines. And I when a game was over I'd have to interview. I go out to the outside the fifty yard line. Just kind of wait for Brandon. Come over and you would think you would have some harsh words or you know. Something is not right and nothing but positive that guy every hard loss. I've seen them take Brandon is the most gracious and consider it With those kids and pump some with a lot of a lot of good things there was never a negative or two came out after every one of those losses now for the last two years. Big thing for us saw the outfits have been there and they've been healthy Kayla BURKE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS Just a D One has a d. One scholarship and he played at University of New Hampshire. We had Trevor Tustin Was just full of speed the last two years. We had a sophomore quarterback this year and that team. I'm telling you Brian Air. Just they're just amazing quarterback took quarterback. Now Joel Joel Yes I graduated so Cowan Stall Johnson. First Year right off the bat as a sophomore and leads. The team sets all sorts of records at Richland. And this team is ready to roll in Roy. They haven't lost many guys coming back. they're gonNA think they lost lost about five quality high quality starters and that's about it so the offensive line. You only lose one one line and you lose your center. Everybody else's back defensive lines intact And this team is gonNA can have another good year. We're just hoping we can play football with the solid going on with this with this virus for another season but if there is one I find it hard pressed to find richland back in the state championship somewhere in in the playoffs. Oh well that would be absolutely fantastic and one thing I remember I was in college but I remember reading about Brandon's college career because he put a Yukon. Am I mistaken? So that's before they joined Division One. I think they were one AA at the time but I remember watching them play. I watched him play in high school. Because I was at all the Games. Even though I was on the sidelines I was with the band. I was. Bryant's snow. Hey I was. I was in the band to my friend. Yeah and I was in the band. Ireland was Mike the Ireland or my freshman year graduated the year before you went to Ireland this. I hear this all the time. So unfortunately the great thing about richland high school was there the abandoned the then. The football players had a great relationship and They would carry our equipment and they would come on the competitions with us come on trip so it was fantastic. It was very tight. Knit back then. I love what I'm hearing out of that program now. You talked about Brandon's father I went to his football camp in nineteen eighty three. I actually I I remember the t shirt because they had the same helmet decals at the same time. The same are yeah but they were green and gold. I was reading low but high school. Football is the fabric of what we talk about. And this is where these guys get started. It's so great to talk about a Richland excuse me a western Pennsylvania program. Hey I'll talk about any program in western Pennsylvania. It's fantastic because this is great so glad to have you on and I gotTa Tell Tony. How to listen to me? The entire entire fall last year. Every Monday we'd come on and I would update how richland did over the weekend. They would be like thirty seconds and and I coach was one of the it was one of the most explosive teams In this state last year I mean watching them. Roll up points week after week after week. Anybody can beat you from anywhere you Trevor Tussin out of the Backfield Kayla Burke down the field. Four kids running the football. And I can't tell you how many kids touch the football and that's the big thing about Brandon when you play in this system Brian Antoni. You're going to get on on Friday night He rotates guys in and out constantly. freshman play. It's it's it's amazing so you build you build and you bill by time your junior and senior. It's not your first time on the football field. You've been there pretty much time. You were a freshman you put in the work. You're going to see the field in brain rewards all those kids with with With playing time and any they all respond But Tony how was it when you when you were a kid? 'cause the big thing for me when I now is a student at richland. You couldn't play organized football until you were in junior high school and now these kids are able to start when they're in first grade secondary. I think that's a big a big help But that's the way it was when we were here. I don't know how it was Up A Your necker woods. Pittsburgh were you Did you football earlier than that or was it? Basically junior high school was when you started as well. I played in eighty four That was a twelve and thirteen year old league midget football but after that I think there was there was another level and then then it was high school so I think it I think around here it started around for me started twelve. I. I don't know I I think there are leagues. That are that are younger than that. But I I didn't really pick it up until I was twelve so I can't answer that one because Brian I think When when when you guys got about that age you well. We did have a league for started when I was in seventh grade. So your your brother Jew. We played the first season the inaugural season in ninety three at and so I played in seventh and Eighth Grade That was the P we the geist down richland P WFL and But I would have loved. I would have definitely been involved in first and second grade. That would have been amazing to be a richland rocket. I wish that was a whole lot earlier. So you tell you tell Coach daily great job need to get him on the show. You tell your buddies Fred. Tell Polish Fred and unfortunately unfortunately they they could not make this podcast but they they definitely want to join in Brian. Imitation is few and Tony. If you're ever in on a Friday night and Richland more than welcome come up to the booth come on Radio Fred would lobbed interview you guys at halftime. It's like his thing. The half time is the biggest thing for Freddie entity he will search be a the stands during pregame to find somebody he can interview at halftime. We had the holiest been family at one point. We we had dave. We had Jeff We had their kids And it's It's it's a good time and we are nationwide as well We just got livestream. This last Last season so Are Live streaming us from other states Around the country which is really a real nice. They can listen. Richmond Football We even had one overseas. Scott Hudson from Thailand came in Ohio. So great thank you very much. I was gonNA tell you. Let Fred know that I do apologize to him for denying him. My football skills and If I could go back in time I'd give them to them. Be fullback for and you saw me on the Turkey bowl games. We play backyard football awesome. But Eddie you mind sticking around for ongoing. That'd be great all right. Thanks we'RE GONNA go to Steeler in Australia we play tackle rugby from under eight's at age seven. So Gosh that's tough to ninety nine. Thanks thanks Pete that I tell you what they don't make them like that here. We tackle rugby that age. There's no pats Gosh that's insane. That's insanity that's what that is. Yes Tony Have you ever played rugby? I like to play it or I wanted to play when I was younger. It looked like a fun game but I never really never really did. So let's open up a Q. And A. so any questions that you have whether they be about high school football with Ed back with US. Feel free to let us know wes. Wes is a contributor. "Of college football podcast. It says here in the script onto riff on what that means jeans and basically what I mean is this all every Tuesday. We talk about everything from cooking. Disasters to pro wrestling too. Fashionable pants worn middle school. We also do talk about college. Football every now and then like mascot fights announcers fleeing the booth early. And unfashionable. Pants that coaches where now if you want to take college football exactly exactly as seriously as it should be taken. Subscribe for free on Apple podcasts. or in your favorite podcast APP lips is from PA Day but he lives in a Michael Atlanta's from PA but he lives in California now You know I'm from. I'm from Johnstown which I talk about all the time so I grew up. I mean you know when we came around came about we were going up just getting into it. When the pirates were winning winning the world series in seventy nine and the steelers were winning although so it was also was really awesome? Jessie George check this up live. I like a live about ten miles. Outside of Johnstown P. A.. Tell me where I love to know. jeff is originally from wheeling West. Virginia which is pretty much. It's really close Dave as well Dave grew up and I I believe he grew up in a western Maryland. Wish really close to so so there you go. I'm not sure where some of the other writers are from but That's really interesting. Where did you go to high school? Tony I know you're from craft. But I went to Langley High School Pittsburgh Public School district restrict It's now a K.. Through eight it's no longer a high school. Okay Jessie George. We've gotTa Talk Man. You're from beavered L. I.. Richland Sean High School class of eighty nine and the reason I bring up. That is 'cause you're from forest hills high school and the richland rams had a fantastic season this year. Once again they lost in the semi-finals to southern Columbia who you went on and won won the championship this year. But the ritual rams had a fantastic year and they are coached by a forest first hills. Grad Brennan Bailey. Who his father was the was and still is I believe Don? The longtime legendary coach of forced forestales high school too. So that's a you talk about being from being from beaver Dell that's that's really interesting But Yeah I'm richland. High School class of eighty nine and and I love talking about that area and we had a chance to talk to nap. Nineteen sixty three and his friends and family yesterday at the game and those guys are from the Johnston area so it was like Omaha. Night for me I I really loved it. Do you want to bring up. Something about last night's Game Tony Tony and it's really interesting. I don't know who was at that game but I'll tell you this. The bills fans bills Mafia was there in full force and unsure. You saw them in the US. You saw that in Dan The parking lot. They were crazy inside the stadium. Now a lot of people were like how could they go ahead and let that many bills fans in. And here's the thing about that. You know if you were at when the team was one in four if you're a season ticket colder you're getting rid of your getting rid of your tickets at the end of September and early October. And that's why why they took Kover now. I will say this if I offend anybody. I do apologize but I have been going to steeler games for thirty five years and I will tell you this. I've seen patriots fans. I've seen ravens fans. I've seen all kinds of aunts ruled. I've Seen Eagle fans ruling there. But I will tell you this in the bills fans were the most obnoxious fans. I have ever been around in stadium and I've hey they have a teen eighteen to Beckham up right now but they would probably think that they were the most obnoxious. I've ever been around. Go it then. They're they're very they're very They're high on the bills right now. I mean they're they're they're. They're passionate because their teammates and done anything in such a long time. I mean it's picture two steelers fans it's a nearly seventy. So that's that's what they're doing what they're experiencing right now. They're experiencing a team that that it's been one of the laughingstocks league for decades and now you know they're they're winning again in the Inter. Only three hours away from Pittsburgh so I think that explains a lot of what happened last night. The steelers fans are probably kind of J.. Right now because they've had so much success over the years. I'll tell you what it was. I do WANNA go see I game in Buffalo. And Hey that could that actually could happen a couple of weeks possibly you. You might actually see that if the bills beat the Patriots in and somehow take the number three seed so that is not out of the realm of possibility but next year if the bills remain a second-place team there's they will play the steelers next year because both would pro will end as second-placed teams so there there you go that that could be something that could happen. I want to go to that. I WANNA go to a bills game as a steeler fan and I see what's happening up there with the guys jumping off RV's the flaming tables. The Dudley Boyz So I mean those guys are pretty insane and as I sold my Juju comments earlier becoming a crotchety cranky. Old Man Well I don't think that applies to that that just means not insane not like Navin insane new age. Yeah I that's one thing I mean you look. If you want me to dive life onto a flaming table you would have to put up at least ten thousand in the live chat. If you guys come up with ten thousand in in the live chat I will go ahead and dive onto a flaming table. We all have credit card to pay off so that yeah so now you're talking there you go uh-huh and my wife is GonNa kill me when she hears that comment and for right now Jeff Hartmann you know his his ears are like whether he's watching the show or not there's bells going on his head. He's like wow we we livestream that so we would livestream it if we could get ten thousand dollars in the live chat but it all goes to me and to my My insurance premiums so happens so cathy says Kathy at the a great fan of the show. Thank you Kathy somewhat shared hanging with bt SC Fan. Thanks guys. We had so much fun there yesterday. Tony that was a blast last next year. We're we're going to. I feel like we've got a friend for life with NAP. Nineteen sixty three and Everybody else so so it's so fun to hang out. We're going to be doing a whole lot more next year as well So definitely if you get a chance. We'll plan a game. We'll do it a little bit better. We'll plan a huge tailgate. And we'll do that next season as well. their adult and I'm a big. WWE FANS so bad. I gotcha question and whatnot. Yeah Tony and I are. Both wrestling guys is an remember. Tony the heels of of bt SC. And I believe you're you're the enforcer or an Anderson of our group Yes yes but but if if you decide to do this I'll be your heel manager for that for that job. I'll make sure everybody stays away if anybody messing with your hit him with a racket or whatever because I am I jeff. Hartmann called me this my first season with the steelers the ric flair of and I. That's something I already appreciate him so I will. I will tell you this will do with that. Pink said Tony. We've got the jets coming up. We don't have a a whole lot of injuries to speak of. We just have to get the injuries taken care of get guys back on the field but luckily in a hard fought game yesterday we did not be did not get into a situation where we had a la- guys limping off the field. So that's a really good thing. So that said we talked about injuries talking about the jets game real quick. I know we're going to be doing the steeler preview. Let's get your preview for the jets came. You have to go back to what they were doing before last night to take care of the football an and and let the let the defense control the game for you and and and and when it you know Oh bless your scores for them are going to be like seventeen ten sixteen ten. You just have to find a way to be. The team. Had scored sixteen or seventeen and the best way to do that. That is to is to be efficient on offense and don't kill us like Mike Collins said just take care of the football and I'll just say one last thing you know it's bad as everything's been with the offense and as good as it was last year with the offense if they win if they beat the jets. Next week they go into week seventeen in a better position than they did last year when they needed to win and they needed help. So if you take care of business next week there's a lot of things that can happen week seventeen even if you don't beat the Ravens you can cummick playoffs so take care of these lousy jets and and then we can. We can talk about week. Seventeen I will go ahead and I WanNa say this We we were joking about. I NAP was joking earlier about Lance being be a wwe type hater of the group. If we're the heels and frank was saying how much he loves lance and I tell you what if you get a chance and frank said the hater is turning into a homer though which we we saw that happen the other day you you get a chance go back. Listen to Lance's podcast as well as Dave and big Bro. Sco Jeff Hartmann. There's guys were fantastic. Ask but my favorite night of the week is Friday nights to turn on. Yeah I said it with Lance Williams just he he does tell it like it is as of the group. Yes yes he comes right out. He doesn't look the audience. Come right down for the ring and he tells you like it. Is You know what I'm wondering am I really am. I really the Rick Flair of the Group of my more of a Rowdy Roddy Piper wherever the group. We need to think about that. But that's something we could talk about next week in the offseason. Maybe we'll have an entire will have an entire wrestling show. How how? `Bout that snowman just gave me two bucks. He got fifty bucks. My ten thousand. Ll I don't think we're really going to.

"Of the shutdown forecast your avengers of college football podcast successor in the script onto riff on what that means and basically what I mean is. It's all spoiled every Tuesday we talk about everything from cooking disasters to pro wrestling. Too unfashionable pants. Were in middle school. We also do talk about college. Football every now and then like mascot fights announcers fleeing the booth early. And unfashionable. Pants that coaches where now if you want to take college football exactly as seriously as it should be taken. Subscribe for free on Apple podcasts. or in your favorite podcast APP. Because he didn't he didn't set the world on fire against the chargers he he played decent. But like you said so did make some up until the concussion. So what are we basing it on as far as duck. I don't think he's a better quarterback yet I think he's a more poised quarterback at drank right. He's got nothing to lose. He's he's got moxie he's got swagger and he's he's going to he's the fit right now he's the guy that that they definitely. We need right now. And if he can't he's the best option were week twelve. which was yesterday and we thirteen which is coming up so mason had a seventy six yard? Td also I get it and we. I mean we could go back back and forth and and we are forgetting that Five for eleven. I mean he wasn't pretty in that game right but he got the job done so and then shared and I like this. So I'm I'm gonNA bring this up. He's decisive Mason is indecisive. I don't think Mason Jason was as indecisive BC before concussion. And not only that. And I've complained about. The coach is his handling randy features handling of him. It's almost like I feel like he's doing everything he you can to please this guy and it's like I picture him just walking past him in the hallway and fiedler walking past runoff. I'm sure that hasn't happened but I mean that's just what I picture. It's just like 'cause he's Benz Guy and Guys Ben is his guy so that's just what I picture in my head but I'm not saying I'm right or wrong all I know. Is that an Andres. Roskin say here DOC truck to Devi yesterday and that was epic dairy guts. He is a fighter and so and fourteen music group. I'm I'm not gonna read this whole thing. Well I guess I can for. I should for anybody that is listening and not watching bad. I Bet I'm the coach but Mason just doesn't have it man. He doesn't even have Tom Brady. Six round pick motor. We should lick our wounds. I mean I'm all for that and I understand that. I'm I'm hoping that this is the move that does it. And I'm hoping duck. Is this guy but the question in the name of the show. The title of the show is can duck dynasty. Excuse me duck season last all the way into January. And that's the question we've got to ask yourself so I'm going to ask you in the live chat. I just want yeses house. Let's see let's see what we get. Katie last can they go to the playoffs elsewhere. This guy and that's the question so but that's what I'm going to ask from you. Yes or no. Kate extend all the way to January. Forty says yes. Tony Kaelin sustained. I'm just I I can't I can't say. Es At this point. Because I I just don't I just don't offense is just so. So anemic right. Now I'm just GonNa say for now I'm just GonNa say no show show me next week and then we'll get back to it. I'm GonNa lean do that now. Because here's the question Well you're not on the preview so I can ask you. I won't make my pick. What's your pick doc? Excuse me for this game. Who You picking this game? I'M GONNA pick another Ugly game and I'M GONNA say steelers by feel okay seventeen fourteen so if the if the if that's your pick that means that he's good enough to beat a surging browns team and and and With that being a tough game with the scheduled coming up with the bills who I don't believe in with with the cardinals. The jets missing. I'm out of order there and and the Ravens to end the season and which you might be looking at trace mcsorley in that Ravens game right or Robert Griffin the third or something like that so and now I'm going to say yes. I'm going to say that he's the best option. I'm hoping so I'm going to say I'm GonNa say that you can win this weekend right now in November in late November of two thousand nineteen he is the best I bet now in training camp let them battle radio and you might see a different guy you might see a gut UNC. Chris Boswell type type situation to where you're like. You challenged me all right. I'm going to show a better off. I'm going to show you that I'm the guy. And no one's complaining about Boswell. No one's complaining Barry so there there are some tough games coming up to even though the records aren't great for T. l.. Says I think the trap game so the steelers are the cards. They're on their trap games for the steelers anymore. Th- their offense isn't good enough for them to have trap game. They're not supposed to beat anybody at this point. I think every game's going to be a struggle and that doesn't mean they can't win these games. They can win it. But they're not they're not there's a sufficient on offense and defense is so dominant. You just have to hope that each each game unfolded away yesterday. Way The rams and the colts and all this kind of game show. There's no trap games from them anymore. not this year so with that being said we're going to go ahead and wrap things up here Tony What are your final thoughts? I'm fired up this the most fired up. I'm just this has been so much fun for me to watch this team this year. do what it's been doing with all the problems had and I can't wait. This is this game against the browns. That's coming up. This is the biggest game between them to you. You mentioned Tommy Matic. Since that wildcard game this is going to be so much fun and hopefully it just stays fun. It doesn't get into the ugly route because we you don't need that. I'm just looking forward to this Sunday and happy Thanksgiving. You mentioned that browns game. That just made me smile. I mean that was just natural. I just smiled when he said that. Because while was that I watched that not too long ago when he's doing because McMillan and wife all those old games McMillan and wife Dot Com. It's amazing and I I was doing. That series throwback Thursday and I would do it in depth recap of the game and I. I watched that game and I was like. Oh Wow that was something at the end. That was a crazy crazy game one of my favorites of all time. I believe thirty. Six to thirty three was in the final Chris. Full Monty Mile I collapsed on the ground. For like a minute I was so I was so exhausted after that game. It so much fun. Of course they want us. What made fun at the end? But but that was just such a treat and you know what I had a guy I was at. I was living in West Virginia at at the time and I would go to One of my good friends Tom. Regan Great Steeler Fan. I'M GONNA go ahead and name drop them and We would go to his house all the time for the Games. He wasn't there that he was actually at the game. But this was the guy he wouldn't tell you he would not tell you if he wasn't going to be at the house because he didn't want you to not show up so I mean you knew you can get in. We'd go in at the time and watch the game. And we had a buddy from Cleveland that big Browns Fan Dan and he was. He called with about sixty seconds. Left to Brag. And we're like yes. Thank you and I just GonNa Komo thank you. You've just did it for us. You sealed the win. 'cause you never celebrate into derails sales on the clock and it was so surreal. Because even hines word score the touchdown at me to close. The stadium was like I don't know and then what's his name for. The browns dropped that would be would have picked up a first down pass on third down and then everybody just knew you just knew they were going to do it then you just knew they were going to score a touchdown that's definitely Well so I want. "British literature and the shooter came in late. He walked to the other side of the classroom where we also had another door, and he opened the door. He walked back as if he was going to go back to a seat, and then he walked back to the door, and he closed it. And the next thing. I know he's pulling a gun, and he's telling nobody to move, and that's when cutting drift lunged at him, and he shot Kendrick giving all of us enough time to get underneath our desks to get ourselves safe into run a. Across the room to escape knew each is solely also says this. I wanna thank Brennan Bailey. Jackson, Gregory and Lucas Albertoni to be some of the kids that were brave enough to bring him down. So that all of us could escape and all of us could be reunited with our families. They were they were very heroic. I can't thank them enough. And we need to honor all of them starting with Kendrick which that honor looked like you've heard my suggestion. I hope which is the same type of large propulsion Blick percent perception be it down I twenty five, but but a a funeral attended by everybody in power to show their respect televised live for this young, man. Just as we properly honor police and fire and not often enough our military as well. These people need to be honored. And it serves a lot of different purposes. What should that honor look like in your mind as well? So we'll get back to the phone lines. Get back to texters as well. This texture says responding to a point that I made earlier, Dan, whether it's a teacher staff, if they're trained properly they will not shoot an innocent bystander, they'll be trained to make sure the surrounding area is clear, and my point is. We have to be realistic even with with police even with military. No matter how great the training these situations are so chaotic we have to be intellectually honest when people argue against our proposal and say that that wait a second. There's a good chance and innocent will be shot by a staff or faculty member shooting at the shooter that could very well happen. The winning argument is that the alternative is to simply surrender all of these innocent children and faculty and staff to the mass murderer and that is an unacceptable alternative. But yes, it's not going to be perfect mistakes are going to be happened. But the alternative is to ghastly to continue to permit, and that is it's a bullet proof point that if we don't train and arm staff and teachers at the point of attack, we are simply sacrificing large numbers of children to these purpose. They is there any hole in that logic. If there is please let me know eight five five four zero five two five five toll-free border to border, many other text I want to get to as well. Mike and Parker here on the Dan capless show. Welcome. Hi, Dan, thanks for taking my call. Sure. Just a couple of points. One thing to consider an airline pilot and after nine eleven we allow pilots to become armed. They Henry going to a it's called the F F G O program federal flight deck officer program in its professionally run organization by people in Texas. I think they go down there for a week of intensive training their screen, so very great program that I'm sure they could include the teachers in on that as well. So. It's a great point. And there are programs out there. Like Laura colonels faster program we had her on the air yesterday. But there would be no shortage of qualified volunteers right between staff and faculty. Well, yeah. And the accent screen so not everybody that applies actually gets except. Right. So around it's a great wonderful program. I think they've only had one accidental discharge with an F F D O weapon and that person was removed from the program. So I if you'll recall back, then there was a lot of resistance to that. All it's going to be shooting airports and ranked shootings at Las guns. None of that has happened yet. None of that happened. Excellent point Michael pretty the call. I am a father of a child that's in Douglas county schools. And and when we enrolled her I asked him what's your plan for security, and we'll just call the Douglas county sheriff. And thinking about that for a while as a concealed carry permit holder in the hunter myself, I just thought how ironic that is you look around the school and there's smoke alarms. They're smoking texters their ceiling a sprinkler systems. There's fire extinguishers everywhere. I'm thinking to myself. Well, wait a minute. You have all this your to immediately suppress right nothing in place. Help these kids. Yeah. Of at the school. So yeah, that makes no sense to know, Mikey, right? And that's why I'm confident that that if we're smart and we fight hard. We will win because these arguments are impenetrable, it's just the reality. But what we have to overcome is a lot of well intention, some of it isn't. But most of it's well intentioned just absolute objection to more guns or at the idea of guns in school. I know it's rational, I know it's a logical. I used to hold those same views before Columbine. And as a guy who generally tries to be smart. I can't sit here and defend the fact that I held those views they were well intentioned. They were just shallow and not thought through completely. But after Columbine I realized as the son of a great police officer thirty years, Chicago cop, no matter how great law enforcement agency. Is it cannot be there in time? That is an undeniable truth cannot be there in time. He look at yesterday. Tremendous response time tremendous response time, still not in time, not the fault of law enforcement. It's the fault of us for not being intellectually honest about that in plugging that gap, particularly when that gap involves sacrificing large numbers of what we value most in the world to evoke killers. It's that simple. That's simple Columbine is what turned it for me. I'm embarrassed that it took something that horrific to shock me into logic. But that's the truth. And there are many other good people out there who can be persuaded. We must do it though. And we let's talk about the mechanism for putting in place in Colorado. What we need to we really think tiered police is going to go there, not a chance not a chance. I mean, he is. So he's made clear in so many different ways that that he puts his commitment to the left far above the people of Colorado look teaches gave away our presidential vote. The. Influence Colorado hasn't presidential elections. He gave away to California he's doing his best to through national popular votes. No, this is a guy committed to the left of first and foremost. So it's not going to happen through him. But we can't just wine and go curl up on the couch and watch the nuggets game, which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. And just say, you know, Jared won't do it. So we're not going to protect our kids. We can't do that. By the way, I wanted to mention this to you. And I don't mean to say, I told you so, but I did take congratulations John Hickenlooper. Congratulations. Michael Hancock, congratulations. Everybody else who allowed legalized drugs in Colorado. Denver has now officially become the drug capital of the world. This headline just pops up. Denver. I in US to decriminalize psychedelic, mushrooms. Amazing right at the same time. We're talking about all this other stuff. You know? Now, we're going to have another. No, it's not legalized in the sense that THC is. But it's decriminalized, and what message does that send across the country likely allies marijuana who does that attract to Colorado does that make you safer as a family, not a chance. So congratulations, all of you on the left who are pushing this legalized drug agenda. Unbelievable. But yeah, it was trailing in that ended up passing at the last minute by about two thousand votes that at Denver post report from John Murray Paula in centennial here on the Dan capless show. Welcome. Hi. Are you? I am ticked off. Like, I hope you are. And I hope all could people aren't they there should be righteous anger. That's channel into action. I think everybody's pretty righteously angry. I guess I want to give a plainly different perspective. And that please. I am a teacher. Good. And as a teacher number one most teachers, I know did not go into the profession of teaching thinking about carrying a weapon, and I'm not I never not about taking away second amendment rights and very much in the center. Unlike what most people think teachers are which I don't like. But anyway, I I really am not about that. But the idea of me carrying onto weapon is not something that I really want to do. I'm not skilled at it doesn't really make sense. If there's a rare teacher who wants to do it. I'm not going to be against it. But here's my question. Are people like you who are very firmly in favour of teachers carrying weapons on a teachers salary. Are you going to pay for their lia- -bility insurance if something happened? Great question. Yes. White threatening. Yes. Or if. Yes. Under a lot of pressure of BS by doing the tiniest little tiniest little great question. Think something incorrect. Yeah. Unfair. So now, we're going to have weapons that what happens if a kick to to. Thank thank you. Because you hit a critical point. And this is something we can accomplish together. And that is we would have is iron clad civil immunity for teachers who go through the proper training as you possibly can. Now, I don't wanna miss lead. Anybody? I mean, I've been a victim's lawyer for thirty five years, they there's no such thing as complete immunity, and we wouldn't want there to be because let's say in the most extreme rogue example, you have somebody in this program. They've done the training everything else. But then they go out and do something willfully and want the wrong with that weapon. They should not enjoy that immunity, but in the ninety nine point nine nine nine percent of the cases where somebody is making split second judgment calls doing the best. They can in a tough circumstance there absolutely should be complete immunity for that person. And that's something we could accomplish under the law immunity from civil. And I I appreciate that. I just want to get this done because I have other college. But I if if that's the case, and I get there's an extreme situation that they're doing something wrong. Of course, they should be held liable about if it's an accidental kind of thing. I mean that has to be a a logical consideration completely protected, and and then the other piece of this is why why can't we consider students? Are why can't we consider resort officers? Why is it not possible when you have seven hundred eight hundred nine hundred.

"Like Lindo Bauer and bets the only three that are really testing it. Right. And so it'll be really interesting to see we're going to go boy that might be that's gonna be over a billion dollars between those tear. Right. Could be. If no one else goes to free agency. Then that's where the money's gonna go. Let's talk about Trump about a little bit. You know, Trevor you've worked with them quite a bit. I remember you telling me, and I think Bauer made this public. So I don't think I'm breaking news Bouwer, basically had the approach at kind of the start of his professional career at least some point fairly early in his professional career after coming out of UCLA. I'm going to stay in the minors and work at this is long as I need to. I don't really care how long it takes to make sure that it get it. Right. Or when I go to the big leagues a big league club is asking me to get major league hitters out at a high level than actually literally prepared to do it. That's where is that. Everyone is crazy because I was just drafted. I'm a big shot. A second round pick should have been first round pick. I wanna go to the big leagues. I don't care about anything else. Only the big leagues. Make the big league paycheck Bauer did not have that approach. No. You didn't. He didn't care. Honestly, he gave up all of twenty thirteen spent most of in AAA and terrible awful, but he was redoing mechanics and for him. He just had so much faith. Same reason that he takes arbitration taking Cleveland arbitration twice only one of people to beat them twice arbitration. Just like, look, I'm going to bet on myself and for that if that means being Columbus or means and being an acronym. Alia wherever he was then he was okay with it. Because he had his eyes on what really mattered is playing ten plus years in the big leagues point one for him. It's about playing ten and I know why that most people don't identify with that. I'm not saying, that's right. But that's just incredible faith and his work ethic is unmatched in the game. Yeah. A lot of fun to watch. Now to like watch college Washington. And what's great about? It is too because the mechanics are obviously, you know, I don't want to call it fix because you're always tinkering to make them better significantly better. Because it looked in college. Like, yeah, he's kinda maxed out how long can you do this? Can you get strikes doing this? Can you move the fastball around doing this? And now he's doing all he couldn't. Honestly that was his thing. He had a ton of injuries to his hip his left shoulder. None of spitting. But it was like he just had his body was right? Well, same thing. Linda, no, arm injuries hips are destroyed and that's what ruined his career. You know? So Trevor seem that. And that's why he did what you said just spent the time in the minors rebuilding. I look at baseball. And I'm not a rob Manfred fan because that guy is open to changing whatever it takes to get more people in the sin to get sponsors to pay more money to make the game faster. I don't see anything broken about the game. I mean, there are a few things. I don't like about the game. But most of it is these stupid unwritten rules and pitchers wanting to head hunt and things like that whatever the one thing that I really really love about baseball is no matter how much you try to change it. It's never gonna change. That's the best part never going to change the most talented. Players that work. The hardest are going to be the best end of story. I find that fascinating. It's the best and the worst part about baseball, right? This is the stuff in the front office. We were talking about what eight nine years ago. Now, most stuff hasn't changed right, and pointing well, it's like, why am I talking to you right now is the founder of drive on baseball valuation. Ten plus million thirty five employs. And when I knew you both of us were poor. But why why are we having this conversation? Why am I not the pitching coordinator of Seattle Mariners? Why am I not the director of pitching AGM of another team? This is what we talked about. What off right now. We're aunt you where we working together. Why don't you the director of scouting, right? Same stuff. Right. And it's because inside the game. There's no opportunity for change. It has gone from outside from people like me you and who have pushed in that direction. I won't ask you. And I think I know the answer to at least some extent, I'm not gonna ask you are there clubs out there that are as resistant to this type of new way to look at things in new way to do things as they were five years ago. You know, I'm gonna I'm gonna go over the top. I would say that there's a backlash in a third of the teams that it's even more. It's more resistant today than they were five years ago because you have a lot of teams who see how far behind the are. And then you have an option, right? As soon as the blackberry engineer saw the iphone one. Like, that's no one knew what the iphone look like the day before it came out. Then it comes out, and everyone knows that's what a phone looks like the rest of time. That's what phone will look. Like, so when you're in black there, you have a choice. Do we wanna try to copy that it'll take three years, and then we'll probably be unsuccessful anyway. Right. So or do we want to double down and say are keyboard blackberry messenger? Is what matters and they tried that. But it didn't work and everyone thinks it's stupid. But you got to think of it from their point of view. And that's what you think about like the Marlins, and it seems like that right? They're just like we're so far behind who cares? You know? And honestly, I gotta be honest. I do list with Ellen Jaeger tossed guy aircraft see strength guy, Boston. And we talk about draft prep in which teams we would like players to go to and we kind of consult with new draftees coming up here this year. And I gotta be honest. A list of teams you don't want to be drafted by his growing. It's like not getting smaller. Well, you'd think we'd get smaller, but it's actually growing. Yeah. It's tough. So there's a lot of teams you really wanna drafted by now. But there's a lot of really don't. So it's huge splits really inequality or any gray area at all. Yeah. There's there's like agree or like eight or so teams that are like we're getting better getting worse than you have teams that actually understand like they actually. Either players like actually take care of combination send them different places, don't play million games and instructs just basic stuff that should have happened thirty years ago. Crazy absolutely crazy that somebody wouldn't just go. That's the way my organization. It's better. Cool. Let's go do that. Yeah. But it's going to take five years to get good at. So I'd rather be good in five years than stuck in five years in the same way, we're doing, and I think baseball has an advantage over in the analogy you made which was great was the blackberry Recife own the blackberry guy might go bankrupt trying to make the iphone in the two to three to four or five years. Whatever it takes to make the iphone, and it may not make him successful. Anyway, even if he can match or exceed it because I've owned in big marketing, they have been working advantage. Major league baseball clubs are not going to lose money along the way. No. Marlins. They're going to lose money compared to now committed the way they're doing business now that they're gonna lose money if they like take a whole new no, of course, law makes it insane to me wouldn't just go. Let's just do what they're doing because you look in the NFL. And I know you're baseball. I'm a baseball guy that we pay attention to what's going. It's a copycat league. This is what's working? This is what we're going to go. And do I mean, that's the way you build their team around your cornerback you build your team from defensive line. All I mean, that's the way you gotta get to the quarterback. And you have to have a quarterback. No team has like we've kind of been a running back linebacker team for twenty five hundred getting that doesn't happen in the NFL. Yes. On undercut the formulas for success is pretty simple under costed quarterback. Really good lines. It'll relieve Seattle San Francisco really did that right? Russell Wilson Colin Kaepernick. Right. That's when you have players that are planning to fifty million dollar clip. But you're paying them a million dollars pretty easy to sign all the best guys. But yeah, baseball's frustrating on that regard end what I what I especially in L. What I like to see? It's just like you're watching everyone is watching the Astros win one hundred ten games, and they have the third best farm system that doesn't happen. That's not possible. When the this is your one of that knows four of that coming to sustain while they win is coming from the worst big league team and the worst firm system. Right. So it's not like they had a embarrassment of riches and one thing I like to point out. They did not have a headstart. They did not because when I compare with the mayor's doing their little reimagined, whatever you wanna call it, which is probably more of a at least gonna try to win into three years instead of making a big long, Astro style rebuild. There is a difference. But the mayors also started from better spot, they got the trade James Paxton with control years left. Mike Zeno Edwin Diaz was the big one they were able to do that. And kind of get a jump start on their rebuilding. Houston have to do that. You see the year before they did that what was the last year before they tore it down and whatever year that was like two thousand ten two thousand eleven something like, whatever you look at the Rosser tear. Like, none of those players at any treat value whatsoever. They're all old and terrible. And they had Jeff Luneau did not have an advantage whatsoever. And they've got it to this point. And sustain it. I guess that's why everybody's gonna be World Series contender rep. But they don't copy them. I know multiple people in front offices like high ranking executives say like, well, they tanked, and you know, they cheated and they got lucky. It's like, that's it. That's it. Okay. So I would buy that if they had one or two years of success, right? Clearly, not what's this. That's all true. But that's not that's not responsible for all that. It's like Garrett Cole and Justin Verlander and still have their best prospects on both sides of both of those players got better as Houston choice in the big leagues. Even though they were established major leaguers already Berliners in the league for ten years before you went to any better. I was like the credit the players there has to be some credit given to the org Zafer either staying out of their way or doing things to help. This is breaking news. We're Lander was very publicans saying, he's always he's always wanted more. And some teams just couldn't offer that soon. The tigers. I'm sure they supported him and developed them well enough. But then that next thing how do I pitch until I'm forty five and so on and then when he wants to Houston, I know people in Houston who would love to say like just as the first guy who asks things from us that we can't give them, you know, he's fired him up. He's the one taxing our department. He's asking questions that none of us know, and he's just like no players ever done that that's exciting to be that to be in that position. Right. You know, that's cool because then that shows real by. And then a ver Lander does it you better believe he's going to do it. And you better believe the next week. He's going to do it. And for I'm Presley and everyone else is gonna buy in. Do you have a gut feel on where Garrett Cole ends up? These is he gonna stay there and Houston they're gonna pony up the hundred and fifty to two hundred million or more whatever it is to keep Garrick. Oh, he's obviously one of the best ten or twelve starters in baseball right now was last year is again this year, the belief all along has been if the dodgers or the angels pony up. That's where he's going. It. Doesn't matter. Anybody else does? Yeah. Especially going home, right? Imagine. Right. There's gonna be a lot of loyalty. Right. You go from Pittsburgh. And I'm not saying just loyalty from that. But you go to Pittsburgh from sinker ball guy. There's a million singers on Todd under. Benedict and series, and he's pretty good. He's a big leaguer. So let's not trashmore anything, and then it goes to Houston and becomes the Cy Young candidate. And so for him. He's got to be thinking if he grew up in or if he grew up with Houston, you got imagine these in explore elsewhere. But now he's just like he's gotta be thinking. What am I next contract? You know, I got this one based on what have done, but what can I do later? Maybe I'll sign a four year five year deal because that's what player's gonna start doing to maximize earning at some point the ASO's aren't going to be able to re-sign bregman right now. But it was a kind of a Priore deal there with with bregman. Carlos Correa is going to want a bunch of money. George Springer is gonna want a bunch of money. Somebody's gonna they're going to say goodbye to somebody. It's not gonna be able to they've already ponied up at least on the short term with Justin Verlander and bregman. Somebody's out to say goodbye. Maybe it's Garrett Cole if they're doing that they kind of leaning on forest Whitley and some of their Josh James and that kind of because that's where they that's where they make their difference. You look at the World Series team in the last couple years winning hundred games. The Astros make the difference over most clubs with their starring rotation. Yep. Yeah. Absolutely. And then what do you think about just like evangi win that money drops off the payroll? They'll how they can spend it on, you know. It's just terrifying. What if they have pre guys they can really really play and they've had to let people go off the forty man just because they have an embarrassment of riches. They had to let Ramon their Aniko. He plays day in center field for Oakland. JD Martinez at the start of this too. Yeah. Ramon they traded him for Brennan Bailey. Five seven righty from. We can talk from Zaka, and I talked to an unnamed person with Oakland and I brought him up. And he's like don't don't bring that name. And I said why not and he's like because you have no idea. I'm really happy learning. I know he's exceeded expectations. He's he's light. But like, I sent Brandon. Daily super high spin rate real good command up salute great breaking ball to the worst possible team. I could because like he's going to become as best as he can be every other team including team. You know, the executive was like, they are coaches are people seem as a reliever Houston starts everyday in corpus. He's going to AAA. And he's gonna pay the number four in the big leagues in a year. And the guy with Oakland is like I just can't he's with two hundred innings two years from now, and he's gonna be worth three wins above replacement and everyone's gonna wonder how it happened. I know exactly what's going to happen. You know, he's like no one wanted to. He's like it was a fight to even draft him out where I did. And he's like he was the third best pitcher in college. But because he was five seven and right handed. Generously. Five seven and the happens a lot even with somebody myself. And I'm obviously, I'm not a scout. So I don't have a responsibility to team to get them the truth and nothing, but the truth my full raw opinion of what I'm seeing this player. What I think he can be. I'm trying to convey what I see and what clubs are saying to me and what clubs Earl pining openly. To a reader to the fan. So it's different. But even I will get. Yeah. But in my okay. Yeah. Understand you sitting three ninety but he's five of five or watching. No sue over here, you dub. And I'm like, how's this guy? I think three thirty right now. Well, he's got tiny strike zone. He's got lightning-quick hands. Stop looking at the stature like I even have trouble with that still. I did not learn my lesson with I did not because I still say, yeah. But because there can be problems instead of I need as Tom McNamara's kind of gone, he's special assistant tomatoes with I don't know what he does anymore. But the one thing that Tom McNamara said to me, I'll never forget stop focusing on players cannot do focus on what they can do. And on the side. Think about the things that are not good at that. Maybe they can get better at if you ask them to do the right thing if you give them the tools to actually whether it's he's not very fast. Can you give them a tick better speed with just the way he runs or make him stronger? Whatever it might be I continually remind. Of that. And Bailey is a perfect example of that don't look at how tall or how strong is how big is his wingspan. I've heard scouts talk about wings, the wingspan on a rat's ass about the wingspan on that pitcher. Okay, great. He's six seven that doesn't use any good. I mean, this brings us to our old friend, Mark appel. I mean number one pick didn't sign with back in the job. What was he seven or ten or something like that after that? But had all of the physical

"I it seems like he's developed his all around game too, though, we we know it can score at sixteen rebounds, twelve assists in those first two games. I is that something that that he's focused on. Yeah. You know, obviously with all our guys there's there's areas in the offseason that we talked about that will allow them to take the next step is a player, and and you know, Marcus, I think really embraced that. Understood that if he wants to continue to improve he can impact the game in more ways than scoring. We still want him to be a score because that's what he's wired to do. But the fact that he's our leading rebounder, he's got a three to one assist to turnover ratio. And that he's played really good on ball defense through the early part of the season has been very good and shown some growth and maturity and his game. Now, you told me at geese media day that that you would put your two freshman, Joey Hauser and Brennan Bailey up against any freshman in the country from spending time around those guys recruiting those guys what makes those two so specialty you well, first of all they're great kids, and they're they're really willing learners and their team. I guys both of them have good size and length and versatility and basketball IQ, I think they're winning players. You know, they're going to play, you know, both of them should have a big role in our team, Nick. Year. Neither one of them is close to where they're going to eventually be at his players. But you know, you bring highly talented kits in who just want to help and contribute and make our team better where it's about the name on the front of the jersey and not the name on the back of the jersey is one of the reasons that I like those guys so much, and I think the had so much to our program. It's obviously still early. He's just played two games in his college career. But it seems to me in maybe just because of my background in recruiting. And having watched Brennan Bailey so much and thinking he's a really good player that most nationally don't seem to be aware of him yet. I guess it's because he went on that Mormon mission. But I mean, this is a kid that that can really play get Brennan is going to be a really good player for us. And yeah, I think you know, anytime you're out of the spotlight which he was for two years on his Mormon mission. There can be a tendency to forget about him. Certainly we never forgot about him. But he's he's going to be a really good player. He's not grateful. I think he's got a great the hunger to to learn and get better is a very good shooter. Very good offensive rebound and a willing to send her. So you know, Brandon is still just scratching the surface of of where he's going to get to you know, two years away from the games along time. But he's he certainly made a positive impact on our program to this point..

"Steve Ed, I had Moreo Joseph annoy and freshman Brennan Bailey, and Joey Hauser, how is the integration of those four players to an already strong core band has been difficult. Oh, it's it's it's going to be an evolution. And there's going to be a process to it. Because as you say, you know, we have a number of guys who have played prominent roles in the past for us and done well, but we have to integrate new core group of guys that brings something different to the table and can make us better. Fortunately, kids in our program has embraced that. And you know, I have guys that I believe who ultimately mission is to win and and become the best possible team. We can be. So, you know, there's been a an open arm. Welcome to the new guys in our program. I think everybody recognizes that they can help us be better. And that is a positive for for everyone in the group euros. Offense was tremendous. Last year. How do you go about trying to maintain one of the elite offenses in the country when you are adding so many new pieces that are going to play such big roles for you? Yeah. You know, I'm I'm not sure we're going to be quite as good offensively as we have been maybe the last two years, especially at the start of the season. Hopefully, we can growth to that as the season kind of moves on and the the newer faces get adjusted to what were what we want and what we're trying to accomplish and learning how to best position them to be successful. I do think we have to be a really good offensive team down the road. But we're we're not there yet. But we're working to get there. I'm curious Steve from a recruiting standpoint, you know, you've you've had some guys that can really make some shots. Obviously, you have Marcus Howard. Now, Andrew Rowzee last year. But you've got a bunch of offensive weapons is that something that you really focused on from a recruiting standpoint is recruiting guys. Can could shoot the basketball. You know, I think in today's basketball in general, not just college at you know, the the more shooting that you can have the better. It's probably going to be for your team. You know, at the end of the day, you still got to put the ball in the basket, and we recouped is a high character we recruit guys who want to take advantage of everything that Marquette has to offer. And we want guys who are skilled who are players who you know, can't can't necessarily be defined by one position because they have the ability to pass handle shoot and think and so we've tried to look for all those things and the kids that we've brought in. I think we've been you know, fairly successful in doing that for sure while known for for your offense. My understanding is there was a big concentration on defense during the off season. Where do you think that stands after playing your first two games of the season? Yeah. I mean, obviously, there's no secret that the greatest room for our program to grow as. On the defensive end, we've not been up to standard and that area we focused a lot on all season. I think this group showing greater commitments at the beach incident, certainly they're well aware that if we wanna do the things that we say you wanna do we have to get a lot better on the defensive end. You know, even though the season is is in its infant stages to the first two games. I thought our guys showing good defensive commitment. And that's got the continue. Marcus Howard has been off to ridiculous start scored thirty seven points against but the cookman hit seven threes. I think he's got a chance to compete for for big east player of the year. I assume you do too..

"And then there's providence in I spoke to Ed Cooley biggies media day, and he raved about his freshman. David Duke AJ Reeves Jimmy Nicholl's. This is a guy that wasn't ranked in the top one hundred. But Ed Cooley thinks he has a really bright future. He said this kid is underrated. He's at six seven three four. Long athletes edco we thinks he's going to have a really good year at providence. And then there's AJ Reeves who he compared to a young Paul Pierce is the guy that can really score the basketball defenses position. So some really good freshman on that providence group to go with with returners MCI Ashton Langford and a guy in Alsace Diablo who was named to the preseason all biggies team by the coaches, he's versatile and can really impact the game in a variety of ways. So I I like those two teams as well. My biggies player of the year selection for the preseason issue. Maury Pons average twenty one point game last year was just talking about him. I love his ability to score. He's quick. He knows how to create separation off the bounce, and he can score that basketball and variety ways. Whether it be at the rim pulling up, I think he'll want to improve on his three point percentage from last year, but he can obviously make shots as well. I spoke to him at big media day. And he told me that the biggest difference from him last year to this year is his leadership. He said he's really focused on being. A leader in really stepping up and helping that team in a leadership role. My all big east team to go with Shamali Pons is Villanova's Eric Pascoe Marquette's, Marcus Howard Georgetown's Jesse Govan. And Seton hall's miles Powell my preseason coach of the year is Marquette, Steve J hausky. I think he gets Marquette back to the tournament. This season was just talking about it. I like the depth. I like their offensive potential. They can obviously really shoot the basketball last year people harped on their defense. They went out and got a transfer in Joseph chart, knowing who I think will really be able to help them on that end of the floor was high ranking and steals total last year. I think he's really going to be able to help them on the defensive end. And then my freshman of the year is Villanova's Giovane winner lease. I've seen a couple different ways. You could go whether it be Joey Hauser or Brennan Bailey, or or some of the other kids at Villanova or kids at providence like David Duke or AJ Reid. But I'm gonna go which Yvonne clinically his feel for the game is so impressive. There's obviously big shoes to fill. But I think he is up for the challenge. And I think this is a guy that's going to step in and have a really good year for Villanova and the truth is if filling novas going to reach their potential and be as good as they can be they're going to need von to step up. And I just like how dynamic is in versatily is and his ability to distribute in score and break guys down off the balance. John Quinn Lee is my pick for preseason freshman of the year before I let you guys go. I want to make sure that you were subscribed and supporting the sidelines. Evan Daniels podcast the best way to do that is shoot.

"He can do both of those things. Yeah. High Q player. He's a very good passer with good vision. He can drive the ball and finish with floaters. He can step out in three point stripe and make jump shots. I think he is a dynamic playmaker with Jalen Brunson gone to the NBA, I think John quickly steps right in and obviously he can't fill the Jalen Brunson shoes right away. But I think he's going to do a good job for them. Then there's Brandon Slater and other freshmen and coal sweater. Who I think can really help them Slater a six six longingly wing. Good athlete. I think he's going to be a good defender and has some versatility on offense. And then coal sweaters that three four combo forward guy. Can really stretch the floor with his jump shot and has impressive skill. So I really like the the depth of this team the senior leadership, and then a really good freshman core on it's really gonna help them this year. So Villanova is my preseason pick to win the big east conference the team that I had at number two is Marquette, and I think that they're a sleeper nationally. I think this is a team that is very deep in their exit Bishen game this week against Carol. They played nine guys with fifteen minutes are more in that exhibition games deep team. It's full of offensive weapons. It starts with Marcus Howard, a guy that obviously can really shoot the basketball shot at a forty percent clip from the three point line last year as a freshman over fifty percent, which is absurd. He's nearly hit two hundred three pointers in two years of college basketball. So Marcus our brings obviously offensive to the table. But I think he's far from the only ops offense of weapon they have Sam Houser is a guy that can make shots and is skilled. They they've got to freshman that I really like I think Brennan Bailey is being slept on nationally as well. This is a guy that honestly not a lot of people know about because he was on a Mormon mission. The past two years is a former top one hundred recruit a big wing six foot six maybe six seven he can score the basketball. He actually started in their exhibition game earlier this week. I think Brennan Bailey is going to be a key piece to the Marquette puzzle. And he's a guy that not many people are talking about. And the other freshmen Joey Hauser, he's the brother of Sam Houser, and he's a top forty prospect guy that can score the ball. He's versatile. He can play the three or the four. He'll rebound. He's a high Q player when I was talking to Steve O J hausky at the big east media day. He said he would put his two freshman. Brennan Balian Joey Hauser up against any freshman duo in the country. That's high res I like Marquette finished second in this league to sleeper teams. I think Saint John's I was just talking to Chris Mullin about their big three. On the perimeter number two Shimon ponds Mustafa Harran, Justin Simon. I love the the makeup of that group. You've obviously got pond who's a terrific scorer and playmaker off the dribble. Quick. Then you've got Mustafa hair. And who does it a different way? He can really score the basketball. He's tough, he's physically rebounds. And then you've got this Swiss army knife in just in Simon that just impacts the game in so many different ways. He's an elite defender. This is a guy that that is very effective coming off screens with the ball in his Hanes. He's got good vision. He can pass those three are really good players. That's terrific perimeter for Saint John's. I think this is asleep or team in the big east..
