"Watching ball he's big ball fan. I and know pretty pretty casual guy other than that. I want to ask a berge oven. He takes a lot of heat. The media and i know that he's got a lot of pressure on to make the playoffs this year but everything i've heard from these players g._m. The players love playing for him. Can you just touch on him a little bit. He's the guy <hes> that <hes> you know he's. He's not afraid to make a big move. That's going to benefit our team. <hes> you know he's he doesn't really care what the outside aside perspective what what the media is gonna say. What's going to be said of him. After trade makes he if he believes in something he's going to do it and <hes> he's doing everything to to help us win something that has players. You really want out of your g._m. And he didn't their <hes> pretty much battling with us every single day you can you can see emotionally as <hes> my watch. He cares about the team and i want you you want to win. It's definitely pretty cool to have a manager that supports you like a brand new crash thirty goals in each of the last two seasons after previous career high twenty before what do you attribute that the most was just maybe maturity a game plan with a why did that happen that the last few years we were able to crack thirty goals. I mean a lot out of it was <hes> you know learning obviously able to just kind of figure out the league a little bit learn a few things about who you're playing against but then a big part of that is building chemistry saliva especially last year so playing with a lot within all into tar <hes> for the majority is easing. We're you know mesh well together as a line. <hes> we figured what kind of role that we were going to have or where we're gonna fit in the time that you're gonna get and now you can excel in that role and i thought it was a pretty good job of working off each other and helping each other out and yeah it's pretty easy for me to do my job. Play those guys they make you look good almost nights and it was <hes> something that three joy last two season you played at eighty two games both years which is fabulous knock on wood and the two years prior. You missed thirty and twenty games. Did anything change training wise or was it kind of just one of those you. You get unlucky those years. You've got hurt. I mean i mean i miss the majority. Those games 'cause i. I took a couple slap shots in the hands. So <hes> point point show yeah.

"Probably i'll be probably pretty below-par my <hes> my acting my acting career might have ended with that little bit. I did with you so it <hes> it didn't it didn't turn out that well offer me but i'm sure i'm sure you look great. You should you should start acting a little bit because you could be the next u._s. Nerd as far as brands of montreal i don't. I know if i have that in me. I don't know if i don't know if i want to spend that much time. He's on the front of the camera quite a bit. I don't know if i got that <hes> that in me thank starting the shit early with the toronto maple leafs. Are we okay. Let's put that put that on the twitter account grenell. A man brent taking a look at the haves man. They've been on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs the last couple seasons. What are you guys going to do this yet in order to get back to the postseason you you think we got a good group of guys. I mean we all we all really <hes> you know. We enjoyed playing together. Come to the rink. Everybody was pretty disappointing last year to be so close oh so you know when you're when the summers as long as it is and you really miss the playoffs by two point. It's pretty motivating to define a point in the season where you can you can pick up those points joints and <hes> when orders hunger get back and prove that we are a playoff game pretty lucky we got gary price behind us and all you gotta do is get into the playoffs and who knows what he's capable of doing what we're capable of doing as a group of front of so. It's an exciting time of year. I'm sure every team says the same thing but for us right now. It's some really looking forward to they so i played <hes> with with petri in edmonton. I could tell he was just going to be nasty but this year it was just a different step forum. I tell he's kinda. Reach that that ceiling everyone i thought he had what's it like in the lock him quiet guy. I don't know do you bust his balls. A little bit as easy still is quiet as i remember him. P._d.'s actually my fantasy partner. That's what we do. Things things around here. Split up the money yeah yeah so one. One guy kind of runs a team and the other guys like an owner who just checks in every time you get a couple losses so p._d. Keeps me honest as a as his g._m. <hes> but we we won the thing last year so he sent me a texan anything but a win is is unacceptable and i might be getting fired <hes> but other than that p._d. Is peace good psalm in the summer when i was in houston. Actually i was with p._d. Watching ball he's big ball fan. I and know pretty pretty casual guy other than that. I want to ask a berge oven..

What are your thoughts on that. I i mean i'm the defending champ. It's just started showing me a little bit more respect than that just a natural. I mean it it doesn't. I don't do anything it just. It just comes naturally <hes> also commissioner so there's some there's some shady stuff might happen in this league but other than that i mean so nothing pretty much. I am roger goodell <music>. Your drafting goes down gets. It gets used once a year and that dorsey shot so i okay. It was nice actually see that thing in the summer. I forgot what it looks like in the bathroom. Check your tax return. We'd say you're using it as an office the all star maybe how did biz. Hey how did biz drag you you into doing. His documentary biz does b._c. What was what was that like. They were not happy with you and i think they're still not a fan. <hes> and you know it was it was nice. It was nice for me. Actually get title a break from the golf course and the game was pretty. <hes> pretty suspect at that point so turned around after i got to spend some time with you. I don't know what that was all boat but you help me out. 'cause that's bad. I ain't that must've been galley. No you congratulations. Thanks for coming so it was just a it was good to see him. There and also i've been told he was a freak athlete like he's entire life like lacrosse believable bad so you went to b._c. First and then left wants dartmouth and carved out a great career like he was perfectly said all right it was a it was a guy hi. That guy's got a kick out of because he's just he's. I guess you got to kind of meet them. You nominal biz. Oh i know i'm really well. I more than you yeah. It's hard to describe like he's kind of like <hes> early on. I think some guys thought he was arrogant. He was just very dry and eventually obviously everyone figured out his personality and everyone warmed up to him. Excellent teammate great player extremely hard working and and another thing that stuck out to me as he he was very respectful and treated the fans really well. He was a fan favorite in wilkes barre just like how he interacted like certain players they just socially awkward and they don't maybe have necessarily that much time mm fans because they don't like they don't know how to interact or whatever it may be. I thought he always went the extra mile and and and did a great job and stands fans loved him in in wilkes-barre. You know when you get the booster binders and some guys this big. I still have my wits which is like no pages your fucking asshole all knowing monster. "I don't know about you but you save some money. You're on moscow squad. He's a great guy. He came on the golf trip to scotland and talk about we talkable bugsy malone. We'll have to have him. Tell the story when he got cornwall in the cup finals that year. We were on the power play. I never thought he'd pinched with me up. When we were up a man and data's head down for nine minutes and then krahn wall put his egypt's hit you with his back with his ass he would he would take us all right out of your body and he turned around and be skating backwards sort be skating backwards and years level you with his back and his shoulders his ass so he had about thirty highlight reel hits he had one on <hes> chicago playoffs and he was martin have let he crushed him right near the bench same exact type hit that he got everyone with <hes> and you always newry was on the ice and it was so funny he didn't fight. Have that that time in chicago but i still true at the annual gone up pick yourself up off the ice get get the garbage can go jumping. It became your own teammates are holding you back being like no but you got chrome off y- yea well you don't touch him. He does that that people and then he skates away. That's what we're doing here. Walled krahn wall chronic go back interested in thrall hits now and see how many of the might be worthy of a suspension in today's climate because they weren't dirty when he did them under the rule but you know like when you go back and look scott stevens highlights like he wouldn't even get to play because he was shoulder ahead and then cromwell was like it was a back too fast. I don't know if they suspension so i think we should get a hard core detroit redwings fan to put the highlight reel coronal hits together and and have them assess them so it's it's non-bias a red wings fan. We're gonna ask him to what would you say. Do you think there's probably twenty highlight reel ones..

"Listen. I'm going to set up the start of the season. I would imagine his first option if he comes back is gonna be the carolina hurricanes and he gets to see how they get. If they get a good start i mean with with i'm assuming how is in shape. His body is at this point which is young. It's probably pretty decent but it does have some bumps and bruises and in missing that at i twenty to twenty five games of the season if he goes tabatha carolina if they're doing well and they do make playoffs he's going to be able to last row playoffs playoffs in and he won't have done the eighty two game season grind. I think i think he's got the right to do it. Based on what he's accomplished in his career and i guarantee the carolina hurricanes would invite him back with open arms of halfway through the season they were doing well and they said this is an extra little boost that we need in order to make a run any he just just adds that calmness to a lineup and you saw it and playoffs again with a team. That wasn't expected to do anything so that's how i feel are. How do you feel like i said i think i think we'll definitely see him back at some point <hes> you know he didn't he didn't say it was definitely going to be carolina. He is technically an unrestricted free agent so he could sign anywhere but he mentioned that he just built the house down there he he doesn't really want to relocate but you know like wits set of carolina's out of it in march and some team comes a knocking and wants veteran presence in can get a shot at another cop. I guess it's uh-huh possible. He could end up somewhere but i don't think he's really gonna play it by him and i think he's probably not one hundred percents yourself but i am curious to see how it plays out because if you know if he does come back back and ends up having a successful haffey whatever you want you wonder if we might see more often with other all the players who are kind of at the end but they wanna play but they know they are a little tired and you know if they're unrestricted restrict. He was like a disaster as a coach and they cut bait after one year. What was your impression oppression in the short period of time. They're really really good. I mean it was tough for me to give an opinion was so all the pointed or called up and sent back down right so i didn't really have a you know i i guess it was. They were kind of a changing there there. You know there was a transition science guys. We you know we had some guys at providence is getting like last year i last year in providence like we had a a really good team. We had a lot of guys they're still there you know we had to we had david krejci <hes> we we had a mcquaid. We had some other guys like bad hundred undertake matt hendricks like we had a really really good team but then a lot of guys coming up i think while they were doing that that really kinda i think it was a transition time so it's hard to kind of comment albin on how he coach because you know such short time and i wasn't there very much but wh okay one other guy when asked about the organization you played with timmy thomas your first full in providence. Were you surprised were you surprised by his cup run in twenty eleven. Did you kind of know he was somewhat of a hidden. Gem wasn't wasn't surprised at all. I mean just yeah just pointed with them where we got to play with confidence and you know that's when i was i played province where he got called up and then breast history and and he can tell me self explanatory but use such amer i mean he was just one of those guys like you got a big game and you knew that he was gonna make the big saves no matter how did it it was gonna make save and he just i mean he was he was like i. I think that's the best way to put it. You wouldn't really call tv thomas athlete but like he was an unbelievable goi just wasn't you know you're watching the saints like textbook ex- book you know book butterflies as you know his doings acrobatics spinning around three sixties and that you know i wasn't surprised at all what did he do. I'm sure you can't even tell the stories but that really did crack me up but there are a couple stories that come to my head like right away and i can't even repeat yup same appear repeat. Did you guys make any runs in the whol some good teams there. Was it kinda. Just you know run of the mill all seasons. No we did a couple of years. I was there. We baker costs files twice. We always we always lost a quota for some reason. They always you know they're always stacked. They always really good teams but we all went to the conference twelve songs twice. We had a play with some guys that <hes> brooks lake was on my team <hes> well out here. <hes> thomas a young guy coming in but <hes> a really good teams so <hes> inch shells was coach for three years. They're now using it system. Carolina actually new york where i was but <hes> like i said it was a great place to play. We had some good teams in a fun point union well. It's funny you bring up the islanders because that's really where you became. A regular regular solid n._h._l. Player was was your time on the island and i never even knew how did your did. The bruins not resign you that a trade. How did you end up out of the bruins organization nation after i was i played most most of the time in boston here by last year. Pointing lockout walkout year during the playoffs <hes> and i was hopelessly in the minors i played four games and forty eight in boston and <hes> you know always kind of the end of every training camp almost the last thing i had to go on waivers and i had add scott gordon as a coach in providence and he got the head job and islanders and <hes> waivers you know i always pick me up. There is a connection <hes>. He was a really good coach. You know good relationship does anything but i i was thinking about stories because they don't want to talk. I gotta tell a story like my second game. We are my second game with boston and yeah. This is okay. Tell us oh kyar you murder someone. In this story you know so my second only played one of this point this over it. You know we were in providence. River is river the job russian party like any job requires whereas like fucking best like almost better than n._h._l. Ones because it's like i don't know but it's like more of a shit show right and and so we have our rookie party at providence before we're out. I don't know three or four in the morning..

"Our next guest is going into his second season with less hobbit poems after after they acquired him in february before the trade deadline. He's a sixth round draft. Pick on into thirteenth n._h._l. Season he's also played with six on the club's for total at six hundred ninety seven games ames in another sixty two in the playoffs so he's been around the bed from anchorage alaska. Welcome to the show nate thompson very very appreciative. It was funny. I was thinking about that today with interventional. I don't get a lot of good ones. I know when i was a tampa. I've been i've been on the t._v. About two or three years and you know the starting lineup right up for all the boys i believe in the starting lineup with all the ski they're the red lights on my pleasure where the english major actually comes in handy once in a while you were born in anchorage you actually grow up because i know they always put the bone on city but some people don't grow up in that that particular area but you actually born and raised in anchorage boerner as yep <hes> grow up. They have some pretty relaxed coming out of there. Obviously scott gomez carl babinski <hes> tie jones. I mean there's there's a bunch of got that joey crops crowd arisen iron copper. Oh yeah so yeah. There's a there's a good about you know alaska voice coming out and <hes> i'd i'd say definitely <hes> or some of us especially. There's or some special guys nice word to put it. I know he's a couple of years older than you but will you pals with gomez it. All we know he's quite a piece of work. We'd be trying to get in for a rely on here. I am i good buddies. You know i grew up. A lot of us grew up watching them. You know keep pretty much putting a lot. It's going to be honest. I mean he was yes. <hes> even like sinoe coming out of alaska. We used to have a pretty much around high school time. When i got drafted is is when i used to start i used to work out with them and <hes> and we've trained together for few summers when he was going back there for the last summer and <hes> <hes> and then from then on we kinda screwed his friendship and then served playing against them and then <hes> from that grew so he's he's a great guy. He's <hes> like. I said he's he's. He's very good. The all alaska boys and <hes> you know what how to stanley cops over thousand games he he's he's alaska's <hes> homeboy and they're very proud of him. He didn't do well with montreal those you're. You're there to finish <hes>. What do you what he did what he didn't finish after i got i don't know i don't i don't want that. You just have to laugh because we just like going to pick up your slack. It'll be look better than l. but for him here but you know he he would. Probably you know like you had a great time and good but it's still sometimes it doesn't work out l. Forgotten certain places. Tom funny story first time i met gomez shook my hand and then paid my parents mortgage so yeah. That's kind of guy you up. Every attack brought the guy picks up every single tab and if i tried to like genuinely pissed off at me like he's fucking bad face. He's like yeah exactly exactly he thinks fuck you hiring alpo all right. You would like to talk you. I have so much about the tabs tab. If you only knew how much i gotta start tweet note the tabs that i picked up so you guys just going to sign of a cheap guy. Put it seriously that's my amex deal. Is i just pay all the upset. I wouldn't have picked up the credit card the day give me a quick shout out no free ads so they scouted by seattle play for the thunderbirds..

"Are quickly. You know what else is such a game changer too when you can get guys that are doing it at the same time like all those years. Asia anaheim got parrying gets off on pretty much. The same contracts remember if not the exact same very close embarrasses a perfect perfect example okay but why didn't toronto. Maybe plan on giving martin matthews the same thing monitor. I didn't hadn't had the last. I season yet where you can kind of argue that but it's just so weird. They're now going against guys on the room team like i need at least this much if not more that that is not the way that i i feel like a good team is going to be built a team of course all this talk transitioned leafs talk which r._f._a.'s right but no but it is a good example lewitt and and in their case. I don't wanna be too hard on their g._m. In toronto i think that because he's a younger guy and he's he's been unbelievable cleveland on all a lot of areas great young smart jam. I think his lack of negotiating strength is going to be the demise of the toronto maple leafs because and i'm not saying that it would have been easier to get matthews on a lower term deal if you're lula murillo but i don't know man. I think that he was a little softer negotiations. She asians and i think he bent a little too hard. <hes> with the knee lander situation and that's going to eventually. I mean faulk now now now. He's easy to get got guys know that so so so this this happening this year where there is a bunch so you get like seven this year right. Will that be the new thing whereas this is basically the option. The the player knows that <hes> while if our team serves season off poorly everyone's gonna be like sinus guy. Give him what he wants. He's a young stud right and at the same time there's g._m.'s thinking i'd love to just tell this kid to fuck off. You can sit off the sit out the whole year but i got to win games. My team needs to win so it's like who's gonna end ended up winning the standoff and if this year there's a bunch of maybe that becomes the norm dude. I'll just hold out. I don't care. I mean our young kids. Get not wanna be like playing games. I feel like if that becomes a common one thing. It'd be very bizarre. Here's a little tidbit on the recent thing on the neely are not the nealon or excuse me the martyr thing that i heard and you guys might have already heard this and some of you who are listening might have already heard this but apparently he offered a three year deal like to the leafs where the last year of his deal he'd be making fifteen million and when you so then of course still be restricted but the <hes> what's the sheet they send you when you're restricted offer sheet <unk> qualifying off offer. Excuse me sorry sorry i i was thinking the same thing in my head but then that's legally only allowed to be i think fifteen percent ten or fifteen percent less than in what he made the year before so they would have to pay him like twelve and a half million a year for how many of your years that they wanted to sign them for and of course the lease rejected it. I mean that sounds. Hey what what's appealing to that. Deal is that the average on that deal would have been ten million so they would have got martin or ten million for the next three years but then of course after those three years they would have to pay him twelve and a half if they wanted to keep him so that's what these that's kind of like the the trick in order to get gm's to maybe sign it. Obviously he's not dumb enough to do that so right back to the drawing table so we can make a move on from this type of talk. Sorry got going a little too long there but like you said these guys that coming out of the entry level deals with other guys again and they don't think that oh i don't have to take a bridge deal. This guy didn't but the bottom line is not not. Everybody's gonna win the battle with their g._m. So it's gonna be real interesting to see how all these play out because you know not every single guy is going to get every fucking ball they want but i think we should send little than an innate thompson by right now. What do you think what.

"I don't know i don't like liked that. Pick and then you and then you give a great reason why you don't and we should keep track of that as well so are looking forward to a buddy last year. I thought you were very solid. All it and i think i think you can make some of our fans some money. I certainly hope so man because when you're on here it's great but when you give i'll lose man. It's it's fucking shitty feeling. I just you know but i tell people. It'll be an adult about it. We all lose. If you lose cry. Oh by the way canadians fans listen. You're gonna like this episode. We got a couple of less how we're gonna bring you always show i'll eat nate thompson and brendan gallagher aw great interviews with both of those guys a lot of personality. She'll be get set him shortly but do we forgot to say. I feel out of office manager brett last week. I'm not sure if we knew he was gone yet. But what was he a dignitary. Whatever when we were in our california he was on what was what was his role golly drinking buddy buddy it was our drinking buddy eddie and he was bugsy just kid to pick on all weekend any almost got fucking killed and we didn't even know it like we took the long way the p._c._h. Which is fun. It's it's a scenic route. Nissar's sunset sunsets but going back. We should've took the inland road. I think it's the one oh one in. It's it's a lot quicker in it's safer. We were on the fucking p._c._h. One lane highway on that gigantic camp well like a two hundred foot drop. Thank god was daca. We couldn't see it because it was bitch. Black and i was like dude. We should always yano. It's the same something even the bus drivers like. I don't know what he's gonna be on this way. It's like three hours longer but fucking. I mean that could have been a nightmare. It's like we crashed off the road while died. No one would have known it was all office. Manager brett's vault but all kidding aside. He's a good ship man. He always took care of me over the years apostol. He's he's a nice kid and he'll do good wherever he goes so we wish him all the best of luck wherever areso next off to austin texas what a place to live in our being jeez. You can have some fun down there but it's <hes> i've heard i'm sure you would it. It is a city by the way i mean you know if any city is just has time for himself. Office manager brett the ride. I'll just yeah. I mean he's. He is a great kid very happy for him great to meet him. I'll never forgive him for taking us up the p._c._h. Like that can what is dave call nut floppy-haired faulk. He wants as we re. I think teddy teddy who said dude. We should be there by now. I just checked as we have like three and a half more hours and we all kinda unrealized in the back of the bus what had happened. Then it came to a head rhett took. It took us that way to look at the ocean red stare at the ocean for an hour and a half and then that added eight <music> hours to arrive. I think it took eleven hours from l._a. To san jose i mean think i don't think it's an eleven hour ride so i'll never forgive them for that but still good luck moving forward brett. He's an saratoga saratoga guy. That's where i ran into him. Last summer i believe so he'll probably miss being around there but still it's good for him and he he's a good dude mocking ally. I love that trip but i love how it took an extra three or four hours because i must crushed. I think i drank twenty five to thirty budweiser beer on that to endanger pukhan dane the data and and office manager brett just got so bugsy that trip they had they didn't know what hit them and then portland. We hit them at home. So it was is just like a triple whammy that was such a fun bus ride and taddeo specifically and then of course <hes> bugsy during the hockey season immune wit in in in our a. and the guys have talked about it a bit..
