"He's so passionate out there. And he's got a big loopy swung very very spinney forehand. And I really think I. Really Admire that because he's putting putting out a lot of effort to get a really nasty spin out there, which is really great. If you have one snack food for the rest of your life, my healthy snack food would be mommy. I'm addicted to ETA Mommy. Is My one weird thing on my right or is if I can get mommy in addressing I love it. Already peeled, already know. Pop it pop it. Oh, it probably. Honey mustard pretzels. Oh yeah every. Day there was a vending machine. At my high school that had these kind of like super salty honey, mustard, e, little pretzel pieces and things. Like. That grow. Oh God i. hope that's the name and I hope they send me some Snyder. I think you're right. There's not a little knows the little bites. They're like the light exactly. Yeah, yeah! I think it was. Anyway maybe you'll get as. I'd like Yeah Yeah. Okay so just in case they're listening. They're listening. Mustard powder all over my shirts and fingers in my near future, you know. What's your favorite movie of all time? Favorite all-time is a Terry Gilliam cult film called the adventures of Babysitting Chazan I love that movie rate movie and I am a thermos. I it is with Romans, first movie and Houma Thurman came to our opening night of great, Comet and Oh Mike and I said to her because I'm sure she's used to getting. Every compliment under the sun and so I, kind of like nervously said I love all your movies, but I just wanted to say I I really loved your performance in. The great whether adventures were Merriman Chazan and and she goes. Oh, my Gosh, thank you so much. That was my first movie. You know I was seventeen. I'm like what? Yeah creeper now serious turned off, but I mean. A to was like I was like. When I saw. Yeah, no I know. But creeper to whoever cast her in that role I mean. I. Know Well, you know what's funny about. We were talking about this the other day my I was talking about with my brother on the show about a kid I went to school with in sixth grade, and and I was like this kid was like chiseled and muscular in like sixth grade and like Superman. And weirdly enough called me Paul. Simon used to come as an adult, but I now concerned compliment. Yeah, yeah, Weird! but Christian said my brother said. I don't know if should be saying. The for a forty one year old man to be commenting on I thought well, but I haven't I'm commenting on him as though I were. A sixth grader still right? No, that's the thing. And that was when I when I complimented like I was thinking of like eleven. Yeah, eleven year old me going to the Cinerama Dome Yeah and seeing her go. Another diamond and I'm going like wow. This is awesome. And Yeah, but also she really, and he's overweight. To anybody in the cast that I loved you performance and Barracuda's. Every bit of it, and and who played the lead Nigel. Name great actor Nigel's. Beautifully is yeah. I mean it was just it was so theatrical. You can never get a movie like that made anymore. John Neville on John and. Know Sarah polly was in Oliver. Rate. Crazy and and then the. Came and did the score. A. Just. Entering the age of a reason, you know it's all about it's all about like we must heads you know. Take over from our hearts, and just the whole. The whole message of it was just like no, we must use imaginations, and we must have love, and it was just such a such A. Huge weight and there was conflict it was about a young girls imagination during a time of conflict and war, and how this old man comes to them with these stories and brings them to life as a viewer you just. Sort of real, or if they're all in his imagination, but it's it's just. A little bit a little bit. Yes, it has a very big fish kind of field. And Eric Idle I love. There is a bit of a and Robin Williams as the Moon God. What an it here's another. A show called the crazy ones with Robin, and that was was that was one of the first things I picked. His brain about was was his time. Doing has the net role. What did he say? He was totally off script. He was just like he was just like Oh Terry. Just you know. He put me in my costume and he just he just let me roll around. You know and yeah, yeah, it was just the cast incredible, so yeah, so a really unsung movie if you haven't seen it it. It commands a lot of attention. It's kind of on the longer side and it's. It's really fantastic weird, but really worth it in. A I'd like to rewatch. Now that you're talking about Terry Gilliam I'd like to. Rewatch, Bantu I even remember. needs to do more. He just just come back to us. It's. Just such an eye on any picks, really risky things which I think is why it's Kinda hard for stuff, sometimes to see the light of day. Because he, he may be so. Expensive Ideas? Okay if you that's a great answer if you had to live somewhere else where we live in. Norway, I think I would live in like Copa. In Copenhagen Denmark or would live in like Bergen Norway I. There's something about. My Mom's side of the family is is Scandinavian and every time I visit Scandinavia. Like, talking about the simple things like I I, love the design of the cultural of the Food I. Just Love You. Know the your eco-friendly. A Yeah I would love to go to full place to live and so yeah I. I've always loved. Just, Scandinavians, in general, that stereotype people but I always. I, consistently like yeah. I'm always impressed by. Martina's about them, but then also like they're kind of serious and like. Don't get ahead of yourself you don't get. Funny Humor. Yeah COPEN COPENHAGEN Okay create answer. If you get up with three people dead or alive whom you've never met never met. Who with WHO THEY BE three people that I've never met. Or I? Mean somebody like even because I. Know You've met a lot of impressive people. Somebody who may be came to the show and you'd think like a man I'd like to. Actually. So I. Well I. I met I wanted to meet meeting her, but if I ever had dinner with her, so Bernard Peters. A. Shot. To, she came. You know we all have that. One celebrity that came on an off night like there's there's always one night where it's like I was battling back from flu, and I wasn't feeling. Super on, and I think I cracked a note and I. Just and I knew she was out there talking about here, you can't miss in an audience and so I've loved Brenda Peterson says little and I knew she was out there, and I knew the show wasn't like our show, and so I was so sick, and so I didn't get a chance to. Meet her and hanging with her after the show. So it would be there. A Philip Glass I think would be kind of interesting I love music, and Let's say Bob Marley. The Third Oh wow. Collecting give because. We have to prod Philip for some jokes, but. That's all right. You'll be there. Maybe, he can compose. Look a Bob, Marley and Philip last collaboration would be would be something. I would be very God. How? HOW COOL! Yeah well you and. Yeah just leave Bernadette at the corner. We'll just yet. To figure out are. Who's your favorite, my favorite muppet? Speaking Burda Peters was Oh. Yes, Oh, yes, and I just and I just filmed. The new the new ELMO's new talk show. Kidding I love. The muppets are just so awesome I mean I'm I'm I'm partially animal I? Just I. Oh, yeah, I yeah or Swedish show, but. Running and cooking are my two my two hobbies now so. that. It's good that that's the thing you have in common with animal, because animal nowadays can be really problematic. I watched. He's a catch Hodgson. Muffins take. Much take! The beginning. Yeah, they're all getting ready to watch this movie or they're doing a review and for the for the. Audience, and where's how? Seeing. Way Out of the during. that. Time? Let's save as long as long as he stays behind reigned in and what he does best animals McGill Swedish. Temperament. Okay, that's good..

"Gary Hoffman Hey Janet let's just say every single Gary and Shannon look at me when I was looking at the there there on the dance floor at the capitol but it'll feel like a man yes the the big just a minute hands off the tracks let me study I you got to be free so with that you can something to remember him very far to the south take a deep breath example import J. O. what year did we settle for right two thousand four it's been two thousand four in Seattle not living off the land them in Capitol Hill that was the year that I moved down here that's so weird a two thousand four I moved up there you moved down here yeah well classic up Jason you're always one step behind well not anymore now you're stuck with me okay big news out of Louisville this morning Louisville's mayor says one of the three police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Brianna Taylor will be fired saying that this officer who fired ten rounds blindly into this apartment showed a disregard for for human life there at this point it's just one of the officers but the other two I guess have been on administrative leave as the investigation continues but but yeah they are saying that that that process has begun in Louisville V. acting chief of the homeland security department is going to be in the bay area this morning for the memorial service for David Underwood he was the US security officer was killed outside the federal building in Oakland at the end of may if your member during a protest against police brutality and the guy accused of shooting Underwood was another guy was a guy who also held were shot and injured Santa Cruz County sheriff's deputy about a week later he those two shootings are connected now they're saying and then a deputy involved shooting last night sort of in the I want to say was the west Compton area LA county sheriff's deputies shot and killed an eighteen year old man on west Redondo Beach Boulevard deputies said they did find a handgun at the scene but it's not clear if the man actually fired his weapon before he was shot and killed he was working apparently as a security guard at an auto body shop because it had been the the scene of some vandalism in recent weeks odd but he wasn't in uniform at the time he may have just been there so and we still haven't heard from the sheriff department what were what they were responding to in the first place but that was just last night the Phillies say five players and three staffers have tested positive for the Kobe AD in Clearwater Florida at the facility so take from that what you may in terms of moving forward with the MLB season well listen with all the testing the players are gonna be doing you're gonna be getting those alerts I saw also today that the NBA players are gonna be wearing rings thanks they referred to a miss smart rings but I'm not sure what that means other than that they would be taking temperatures consist constantly and after reaches a certain temperature than your ring falls offers sends an alert to somebody or changes color changes color you're happy and it turns red or blue plans for the NBA are asinine did you hear it the ball wash I mean the lips are the basketball washing the bright it's so absurd that you have put in place these arbitrary rules like players have to shower and get dressed in their hotel rooms versus the locker room before they go sweat on each other for ninety minutes like what yeah it doesn't make any sense I I just don't get it and the the quality of life for the NBA players at this Disney presents sounds terrible I heard you talking with Kevin figures about it was that I think was yesterday and he referred to it as like a guard dressed in a goofy outfit looking out over this you know vast prison yard of NBA player right keeping them in line right but he's wearing a goofy out because it's Disneyland or Disney world Disney complex it's just it's a bizarre thing and then the baseball portion of all of this where baseball is now ten games a part that's it I mean that I know there's money involved but ten games a part because the the the commissioner says that seventy games is impossible the players union says sixty games isn't enough I have well and then you had the president going on Twitter today he would came in hot today by the way I'll do it on fire stripping for doctor felt she of his degree in calling I'm Tony Fauci Toni found she has nothing to do with NFL football because yesterday vowed to came out and said you know we may not have football this year and everyone is at a New York thing what is stripping the title stripping all and just referring to him as a shortened nickname I think trump thank I heard that as well are gonna read that that was kind of a that was a funny thing is also going after the Supreme Court once again I mean all of this there's a bunch to get to today at the bottom of the hour I think we'll spend sometime talking about what's going on with the rally because there are issues about whether or not tomorrow's rally even going to take place in Tulsa Oklahoma because of what we what we know is also saw its largest spike in corona virus cases yesterday yes more testing but it doesn't feel good and there are lawyers who are challenging to make sure that the arena itself imposes health guidelines that the CDC wants to see but that the campaign said they wouldn't enforce like they're not gonna make people sit six feet apart at the rally tomorrow night but anyway today happens to be Juneteenth and Nick was able to get us a gas on today to talk about what it is doctor Brenda Peterson from a UCLA is a professor of African American studies in X. is gonna help us figure all this out well I was embarrassed last week when I realized that I thought that Juneteenth was to mark the abolition of slavery but it was really to mark the end of slavery in Texas nearly two and a half years after the proclamation was made professor Brenda Stevenson nickel family endowed chair in the department of history professor of African American studies UCLA is joining us to help shed some light on this thing that I am I'm pretty sure professor Stevenson a lot of people don't know or at least don't quite understand the true story of this that's true I think a lot of people think about the Emancipation Proclamation as the end of slavery or even the thirteenth amendment in reality it really is the thirteenth amendment to the constitution which comes into effect in December of eighteen sixty five but Jim team has come to symbolize the end of slavery of black slavery in the United States after the civil war for most people so is it just Texas where slavery continued or were there other places that have not gotten word well it was not just Texas there were other places too you know across the country really I'm particularly in the south of the confederacy of course where people have been physically isolated you know wool counties on farms and plantations where people decide not heard or that the Union Army had not been there to enforce the end of.

"Yes. It is how to make him salad. You can do it. Kelly. You can do it. I believe in you getting like pickles on the back of my head. Okay so you dice up. A bunch of ham normal You then put it in a food processor and you just go to town. Oh wait what but then yeah you until paste Oh suicide and then brand yet like a spread which actually I do enjoy terrains and stuff so I bet you actually probably tastes pretty good. 'cause I had like those. It's like it reminds me of pate or something also register in Niagara Adventurous eater but I also understand pat or just. Don't WanNa be centric like you know. Be like that's gross. Just because I lived a life childhood full of that's gross to the food I ate but um he's no I do totally say I feel very entitled to to do this at these food items though because it is so like white ass American food and like I feel a right to judge. I do not enjoy your fucking post World War. Two Food I do always makes a just always makes me think of like the Cube Pam that would go in like beans or something. Yeah me thing. Yeah and my parents were trying to make me eat it at a picnic and I would be like no. I don't WANNA eat it. And then they'd be like eat a bean and I'd be like no and they'd be like half a beating. That'd be like no you have to eat half of being or you can't play tag with the other kids and then I would eat half of being enthralled being. Are you allergic to beans. Perhaps no in fact. I'd like them now but as a child I thought they were the grossest thing in the world. Yeah I get that I. I do think that there is something gross about fifties food in general mostly. Because like I think I was reading something about how people just didn't know they would so I think we've talked about this on boys actually about did we did a whole episode on voice about Gross Old. About how like the increase in like The production of food and the availability like increased availability of food. So people would get like all these new interesting foods that they didn't know how to cook and then they there wasn't the Internet and there wasn't you weren't spreading information in a really fast way so people would just be like We'll just put these things together and that's why you literally get bananas wrapped in Ham covered in holidays baked in a thing. Yeah it everything was like Ham Spam Bananas and Mayo and something with gelatin like an Ab- royal also like these coming out and these people are coming out of a depression and a war. Yeah and so they're eating like I have fallen in love with this youtube channel of a woman it's filmed from like when she was ninety one to ninety four and she's she's passed now because these videos were like ten years old but it's hurt just cooking food that she that she would make during the depression and it is so delightful and also the saddest food ever. But it's so endearing and also really makes you understand how hard it was. It's not just like Oh people in the dust bowl and it's like Sepia photo like she's like now. I'm GONNA show you our recipe for Dandelions Salad. Now I'm GonNa show you what we'd had for like a special breakfast on Sundays because during the week our breakfast was coffee and bread and you dip the bread and coffee. Yeah. It's so it's so interesting to compare that to like now and what. The food production line is because like we're starting to see like some points of failure along the food supply line in like the chicken packing plants and I know like Hog. Farmers are dumping a bunch of their inventory because they can't get it to plants that process the meat in the right ways. So like I don't i. I don't think we're going to enter a time of like total food scarcity but like it's not impossible that we're going to get back to something like that where we're forced to eating like weird or grosser things than we're used to. Yeah I I saw that. Costco is like we're now limiting meat sales to like three items a week and I was like we probably already should be doing that. Yeah all those like really like me east to be such a like so. We're I'm looking for like the isn't what I'm trying but like a splurge it'd be your weekly. You like who having meet tonight Instead of at every meal yeah instead I absolutely like I by as much as I want all the time. Yeah I mean it's interesting that like I don. Not that I'm doing completely like what's it called Like depression era cooking. But I am being a lot more conscious of food. Waste like totally Assu. I've been you know putting my chopped off. Romaine in water so that way it grows more and you can get ahead and a half of lettuce out of a head of lettuce. You can do that with. We've done the same thing Kelly that and then you can do it with scallions to My my efforts to To not waste a lot of foods to never buy vegetables or fruit and Jesse several eggs. Oh my God all the fucking time I am so not eating well and this is not a new thing. I always eat like this and it's bad I just I and I've been If I do get fruit I will cut it up myself. And then freeze it. As opposed to buying pre frozen fruit. And I don't know why I do that. I just do just because I it allows better. Yeah and I think it'll last longer and I can save a little bit of the fresh fruit for like when I want to eat it now. Well we've also been doing like when we get like a bunch of Kale or spinach or something. We eat it like well we can and then when it starts to go a little bit we chop it up and like freeze it in ice cubes for use in smoothies later. So it's like the kind of thing that we would have before been like. Well whatever throw it away and we'll buy a new batch 'cause like you know a a bunch of Kale cost like a dollar that now we're like no we keep everything our houses now full of empty jars like jars and jars. I Love Jars. Just like Durkin. Yeah Jars of unspecified Jar Jar. The okay so now we need to talk about them when they become the wonder twins because it is yes in. Saint. I was like. Oh fucking funny I think I either. This is what happens for me. I'm like I either ship it or I hate them and I can't decide on I I freeze world. Any context of this book But like I literally was like I ship it and if they're not in a relationship I don't like them being like little best friends because just for some reason. That was too cute for me. Because I've got you kick Lynn out of the car yet. That's what makes it. Should he just gets two boys club near like now? Now we're we're boys and we're friends and so like you step aside. We've both voted votes carry more weight because we're men and also We have the superior physical strength. Yeah there's a very like let the men deal with this. Yeah you stay safe. You're the person in town. She is the person you can't lose. The prettiest person is that all you have left. Is Brenda Peterson? The Drip Meru a hill. If it's gone. Yeah so for and also she does all the fucking like like brain legwork. Yeah she does all the the footwork. So she's like like workers the crunch she's I'll stay out of it she does. She has all the fancy step. Guess what she does none of the dancing in this book. She was once That is true but she's like okay. I figured it out. It's Brad you guys need to get some evidence because I guess me just thinking. It's him isn't enough in this world knowing who was earlier. Luckily there is a preponderance of evidence at Brad's that he is a chronic repetitive jewel. Thief flying to keep. He's a fucking cat. Burglars got like all these fucking trophies of his crimes in his house on display and Dirk and and and we learn all of this because they returned from their adventure and both of them separately to win or like. You know. I didn't like the guy but I see why you do. He wanted me over. It is funny though. Were there like we are not friends. But we respect your judgment. Yeah we're not friends but we get it. Yeah but we get it and also were boys and you're a girl so sorry so it's so so then or is it even narrow for it not even close action fame and the climactic action scene is like orders of magnitude more and more thrilling than the rest of the book at all has brand. Gun Gun. There's an attack Paul's hand gets a fucked up the fact that like they. So they get into his house and they're like Can't find anything all right. Let's get. Let's leave through the window. Paul is now halfway out of the House of the window and then Dirk is like guess what he's got a gun and like what unease. Sorry I just. I just remembered we should grab it and like trying to attack him and Paul's like no and then he's he's already there and he's like I guess and then he's like and then jerks like Holy Shit. You're not gonNA believe this. You need to come see this fear self. So Paul wiggles back in the house. He's almost out and it's like fucking scrooge mcduck like you dive in a pile of money jewels do the backstroke pile of gold coins. And then we're you guys picturing the window from. I know what you did last summer way. I'm trying to remember the window. There is a bathroom window that the way was that. I know you did last summer in another one of these. Where like the girl who was like going to be the DJ for the radio station or whatever that she like was Squirming remember this right and it was like kind of two small and light it like pulled up right like it was like that kind of window. That's what I was picturing. Yeah I was picturing that kind of window. Yeah Yeah I liked his apartment. They were like school is like trash apartment. And I'm like oh Mrs quite like it's a walk up. That's not a nice young well for.

"Original a style. Remake it ruins by. Yeah but you know what it's because I was too much of Fuck Andretti notebook my asking for it to be that way others. Don't react to it that way so like you shouldn't have either did okay. So I felt like a lot of. Here's a question that I had You guys growing up end up dating all of your very similarly aged friends siblings. Because it seems like. That's what's happening left. And right yeah. It's a definite theme in these books I would say it's a small town This book gets it something that my mom explained to me when I was younger that I could never wrap my brain around and I still can't fully wrap my brain around. It is that you didn't have male or female friends. If he were of the opposite sex you dated dated. If you hung out you were dating and there could be the person you were going steady with but you could still also go out on dates with other boys unless you like specifically disgusted. They're like The that's what I think is so unique about this book is that she's like. I WANNA be friends with you dirk. And he's like why I he's like hell no and then average he's like do still just fair like he's heard he doesn't have to swallow his feelings. You know you guys feel like the mom had some pretty good advice about trying to change boy. Oh so good better. Yeah and she's like you shouldn't she's like if he's just trying to be better for you like that's not gonNa work and she's like but what he does and she's like well that it's not gonNa work like he needs to be doing this for himself. Yeah this book was so different from like all other media because it wasn't like it was man parents just always understand Salim about loading parents. Always understand and it's so like you don't see that and it's like not only do they understand but they are in fact wiser than you and. I don't want that always to be the message because it's not true but it's really refreshing that sometimes that's the case yet. Move because my mom is very understanding a nice and that they come through like that Dirks Dad shows up to the school. Thank God defense. His son never doubts his son. Like it's such a throwaway thing but like it means so much. I loved that Dennis doubt was like dirk needed to turn it around. Yes he added has what it had not. Lynn thought the beautiful. You guys I know I did. I also got John Showed Easy. But what no but we need it like when the dad showed up and was like like. I believe my son even if if it seems like he stole that money he says he doesn't. I know he's not a thief and prior to that he had never really seen with his dad and like that was the first time that they had like connected on something and it was in a public way where he was defending him and that was the thing that turned him around. And not necessarily like yeah. I loved that it was so much deeper and I also I loved. It wasn't like defend him publicly and then get home and berate him for like Yes lady. Avin them a bad name. I was so relieved when they got back and it was like no. I know you didn't do that. And then Dirk immediately turns around and I was like yet dirk. You do need to be helping your dad out with money breezy. Data's working to fucking jobs and then dirk is like the best. Revenge is just living well and getting a good job and his attitude about. He's like I don't need school. Yeah and I also have the I have the fucking satisfaction of hard work. I liked the What's her name that like? Lynn finds out that he has this job from the dad. Like the DAD's like Oh. Yeah you know. He's a he's working He's helping out over at the garage. He's doing great work over there and like you know. I think he's really found something for himself and I was like great love it yes love. He's he took a thing that he was good at which he was being taken advantage of for Which is being good at fixing cars And then Change that into a thriving thriving career driving. I also love that. All of this is wrapped around like a quintessentially low dunk mystery where like gear thirty pages ahead of the narrative. And you're like yes. Obviously Brad is a scumbag and obviously the second like he's at the school and you're like okay. He's stealing something. Yes Oh my God and the second. He's like well found the money. I'm just GonNa Mosey on down the road of not even a student here so I can't possibly be involved. That doesn't make me even more suspicious at all when he was like when he says to the so basically What's her name The girl from a Brenda Peterson they do this. Big Big big Fundraiser and the way that Brenda Peterson's mom who put together the debutante stuff wants to stick it to Linz Dad who's been protesting about. It is like well. Just donate all the money to the hospital where you work. See how we're five hundred dollars. Five thousand five hundred five hundred five hundred hundred. It IS A. It's like forty four hundred dollars in its money. It's it's not nothing. It's it's not in your face money it's not like fuck you Lynn's dad money. But it's IT'S NOT JONKER CA CHANGE. Yeah. They said that they need it. So yeah so she has it in her fucking wallet and she just leaves it on the front seat of her car with and so it gets stolen and she comes out. She goes out on her car to get it. It's stolen and there is. What's that guy's name Brad? Brad and Dirk are standing there. And she's like vase dollar as Dole it then. Lynn runs up and his like he did it. And she's like you bet. Your involved Dow are crazy. I was like what Brenda you fucking kind. Seriously he's this bullshit one. Also where's it coming from? Why have it out for Lynn Jealousy? But she's winning. Like Brenda have. This is what it is. I'm GONNA miss on onshore psychologists this so she used to be on the outs and now she's on the end and she's pushed. Lynn too the outs. Or so she perceives. She sees Lena's the person she used to be. She hates that so she's trying to punish herself she lynn. I think she associates all her current going with the absence of Lynn and so she acts continued to would like Dr Lynn. Further away that Cements her standing even more even though Linda's would have been a part of it and Brenda would have to. I think I totally agree with you. That it's like because they both happened at the same time. It feels connected. Yeah especially because Paul has been taking her to. The ball's not absolutely would not have happened. Yeah Yeah and so it kind of knows that even if she thinks that Paul asked her to the balls she still knows that. That wouldn't have been happening if Lynn was debutante so anyway I agree polls to the balls. A Ball Paul..

"It was a very nineteen fifty-eight thing to happen. Though when he forces like a hard kiss on her yeah and I think at the time I I was just very relieved when he was immediately upset with himself. That Xiang do that. There wasn't any like I found myself giving into the kiss. It was she was like get off of me. I did not consent to this kiss. She gets out and then the next day he like wants to kill himself. Yeah no he's like a very dark place to die he like Anna. Who's his sister is like. I'm worried about him because he seems very upset about something. I thought Anna got home. He was like fuck fucked everything. He's like he's down and he plays Yup puddle of Mudd Song. It's me she she fucking hates me. Oh a bird. The inner sounds familiar. Yes yeah he just blast that Song So I will I will give it a pass because it was not approved of by anyone not the author Nanna though it was Anna was like she was being like very she legally excusing his behavior. In IN ONE. Thousand nine hundred. Eighty eight annas like the angel nowadays. Anna's internalized misogyny she totally will because she also is like and I make all of our meals. I'm basically the MOM. Yes I mean. That was the time. That's what this book is. And that's what I've certainly. Yeah now this is the patriarchy I full. Swing was the most perfect girl that ever existed in all of life. Yes she could paint self taught she could cook self cooked. Also letting colors watercolors are hard dude very hard very hard colors and she's also self taught to toys sick. She took an online class. Maybe not so as Anna. No also making the the covers for the curtains or something like the slip. Covers slip covers for the gardens which he has to truck back and forth on the bus. Yeah bus is it. Takes like an hour and a half to get to and from school. Sometimes I mean. Anna is a saint as a saint. The whole thing of like so I do understand that like lands. Land really is discovering how the other half lives but I mean it's just it it does seem very. I thought it was interesting that she was like checking her own privileged by the end shoes. I thought she was checking her own privilege. Pretty quickly though. I mean like newness. Her Dad like her dad tells her she can't do it. She gets really upset and then her mom as it lays it all out for and she's like Noble Daddy is such a good man. It okay daddy may have like a sort of the Daddy. Daddy may have a sort of right idea here but he keeps. So he's raging against the whole like debutante thing they keep bringing it up in the context of the other dads that are in rotary with him are also anti debutante. So it's just like he's got his own debutante thing in the Rotary Club. I know wow could Patrick Avenue this whole thing wide open. Also like this is okay. I was just also really confused by like. Where exactly does Daddy Stan? Because when so they're like Brenda Peterson who is a drip? By the way such address such a I really really a her ending dear Brenda. I was really afraid was going to happen with her. Why that she was going to end up with Dirk with Dirk House lied. I'm GONNA fucking Vaughn. I thought about that definitely we can use lane was going to call like you should. Brenda and Dirk was going to be like yes. I'm reformed I seriously pictured. This is what I thought was going to happen and I was like ready to fucking vomit. So what I thought was going to happen. But he that Paul since he's such a good guy and he is now but the guy the perfect guy he decides he wants to. He's like you know what I have to take to the dance. And then so then she goes with Dirk to the final dance and she's a just as friends and he's like I guess I understand. And then he like sees. Brenda be presented to the crowd and is like who is that and I was like. Dirk flight over Brenda. Oh my God. When they became the fucking wonder twins. I was like I. Can't you have to build up to talking about that because it's insane that the physical climax of this book was placed in a flashback? That positive because the girl isn't allowed to go carriage of the book. Shut her out. She's like I guess. I understand being a girl. Danger your call home. Godspeed wonder twins so like okay. Wait delivery beginning. She's like she's like Paul wherein like they're also going deep in light quit that we're kind of going steady but I would never ask him you to stay loyal to me. What was college being away? And you understand that. I'm here surrounded by strapping. Young men of all socioeconomic strata like. He's like yeah. You're right but keep my ring where we will not specify the meaning of will just both sort of dance around it but we look at all you my girl yes but I will not kiss you. Well God forbid that. Kiss you outside because of kids things for inside lips outside our for talking us are inside lips outside but I will hold your hand so tight. Look adorable chased. Yes so adorable. Chased until dirt comes on because Dirk Oozes sexuality I gotTa say is when he I just when his hair was curling down the front of his face. I was like Kelly cat now. He's sexy and also what? He's like berating her in the hallway. I was like a the.

"Hey Hey this this dodger trade has really well wait a minute. It good things. Come to those who wait. I don't mind getting this guy. Throws one hundred miles an hour Scott. Boris says it's one hundred percent healthy. Yeah that guy is Brewster grabher grabher. All and last year he threw for the Red Sox. Nine two-thirds innings for the twins right on us on the twins the twins When nine and two thirds innings allowed five earned runs but throws a hundred miles our his only twenty years old? And you can't teach each a hundred miles. An hour is true. That is true So they get him And they wind up adding jeeter downs To the deal to the red attacks there was another prospect who is the connor wrong But jeeter downs was is is a good infield prospect for the dodgers. So He's now gone to Boston in order to make that deal Happen CANTU my eight. A STILL GOES TO MINNESOTA The dodgers get mookie Betts David price and now buster are buzzer greater. All Browser greater her off brewster is his first. BIARD U. S. D. A. R. Browser Greater All. Grabher all. Okay now do either one of you understand why the angels backed Abbottnicholson. Okay good really good as as somebody who roots for both teams. I'm looking at the dodgers going. If they hang onto Peterson and stripling. Both those guys play. Oh no question about it. I mean Jack. Peterson will be in that outfield rotation out in left field. I would imagine it'll be. Aj pollock against the lefties And Jock Petersen against the writing mine the problem is the dodgers are technically over. The the competitive balanced tax. Peterson could still be moved. So I'm expecting he's still GONNA get moved. Don't you think Greg Yeah. I think he's still and also stripling will they both will because if they have to move stripling showing the money like they're only like ten million dollars underneath over the over the luxury tax line so it's not a ton of money. It's just works out to both of those N.. Brenda Peterson came into like seven point. Seven five seven five so that almost gets them there but they WANNA be under. I think it's the two Oh eight or nine signed competitive balance tax So that they They don't pay a luxury tax. Also have forty two and a forty man roster at the moment. Yeah they're also carrying a couple of extra guys so you you guys know. I always talk about how Los Angeles is a star driven town. If you don't have a star you kind of become oblivious Y-you fade into the woodwork so now the dodgers multiple stars the Lakers Lebron and the clippers when out in and you know got Kawhi Leonard and Paul Paul George Yup and very quietly today. We all knew it was going to happen. The chargers said were done with Philip Rivers. Yeah why wouldn't they go get Brady. They not star driven town. I was listening to some of our friend will cain And he had an expert on who says the chargers priority may be to trade aid for Cam Newton that makes sense that makes sense but okay again looking at the landscape. This is is Los Angeles and always has been. You can't have just a really good team that wins because it doesn't stir the drink and laugh people go go to see people and if you're going into big name people and if you're going to like the Oscars last night the reason the Oscars is such a huge deal is all of the big big names younger gate in one place. They're going into this state of the art stadium. Yup Brand new as the second tenant correct coming off a bad season season right and the rams we know won't mess around. No you know the rams went out and got jalen Ramsey in the middle of the season. Alright they're all in all the time time there in on everybody they almost the rams tried to trade for Khalil. Mack down so the rams are going to have a problem so in tickets from what I've been told. The chargers have a ridiculous problem selling anything. Here's my understanding of it is and there was a big piece I think. ESPN did a couple of months back That the chargers at some point just gave up selling personal seat licenses which was their commitment to the Rams Stan Kroenke Iraqi Because I was going to help pay for the stadium and the chargers just said we can't do it. We're just GONNA sell tickets right and they haven't been able to do that. And so if I'm Dean Spanos I look excuse me you have an instant message. Yeah I look at this and say okay. We don't have a quarterback we need to go out and get one. We could draft one. Yeah we have a team that could aid. They need to draft one because Brady is the very short term one year. peyton manning to the Bronco right but they have everything else. That's a pretty good straight. Manning was peak of his game game when he went to the Bronx disagree first-year hosts neck surgery first year. He was unbelievable. No no I know statistically lived up to it and there's no reason brady couldn't brady to one super super bowl last year Was this year that they they lost. Money's middle the password. I if I'm the charges that's not where I'm going but you realize that manning didn't play hey for an entire year before they let him go right member when he got hurt he was out. They had that suck for luck year. Right in the suck for Luck Cure. Manning belong to the court the but the idea that manning was at the tail end when he signed he was absolutely at the Taylor. He threw retired two years. Later as career-high touchdown passes right fifty five touchdown passes in his second year with the broncos. Fifty five yeah but but who's did you say Brady wouldn't that be great. He wouldn't do it because they don't have a good offensive line there a terrible now. They're doing that great receivers. They're they're bad though the offensive line one is bad for the chargers. The the chargers have Guy Nita scramble. Run between Mike Williams and Keenan Allen and they have weapons so anyway. If I'm if I'm the chargers injures I take a serious look at that and Cam. Newton is like the same idea at least cam. Newton can make plays with his feet. And I think that's what they need somebody who can make plays with their feet So but a billion. Let's not bury the lead. mookie Betts the dodgers get the second layer and they get banned and they get a giant star. Yes so I think that that that now everybody in town pays attention to them not enough. They'll get get them on. TV that we keep hearing that no no. That's not mean sandcastle has been on the show instead they'll never be on TV on direct TV right but if they were what's weird is direct. TV's about to go out of business. I read the same article so that may change. Who would have thought that that it would be direct? TV that would collapse yeah and allow potentially the dodgers well and the and the gist of that article was that. At and T.. Went into the ground in half. The world doesn't need it to be successful or unto. They can just get rid of it and they find they. They'll sale the right. This supposedly now eight direct. TV In this next television negotiation is not GonNa Review or is not going to renew Sunday ticket. Yeah which is which is half the the reason why the whole reason why people do it. Yeah so yeah I mean I think you're right dad. They had the biggest star The second best player player in the game the big question is can they sign him. long-term apparently the dodgers were interested in before they completed the trade aide opening a negotiating window to be able to talk to. Mookie Betts about a long term deal. Yeah and the red SOx refused to allow them to do. I was watching Ken. Rosenthal all on the MLB network. Yeah and Rosenthal said you know if you're wondering why the Red Sox are doing this. The Red Sox are doing it because it clears so so much salary. Yup that if they wanted to they can come back and signed bets a year from now correct and repositions them to get back in that discussion like who was it. That left a world is Chapman left. The Yankees went to the cubs won a world series. Then went back to the Yankees right. They freed up money that way. Yeah and got some prospects. So here's here's what I think it takes to sign him long term We talked our only last week. The Red Sox offered him three hundred hundred million. Buster only said that. mookie Betts countered with four hundred and twenty million might trout number Yeah Yeah just ten million dollars less than my trap so if you look at these contracts trout is twelve years for thirty. Bryce Harper is thirteen years. Three thirty If he wants four twenty if you did it over thirteen years the same term as Bryce Harper has. You're talking about thirty. Two million dollars per year here takes him through his age thirty nine season. But I think you can live with thirty two million dollars a year. Believe it or not that isn't exorbitant. That's not easy number in this in this world would is forty. It is crazy term. We've learned that you know signing these guys like Albert Pool. They signed way too into his advanced year. At but you know pools makes like twenty five million right. Yeah so it becomes a number you can live with And and so I I think the dodgers have an excellent chance to sign him because look at the rest of the key players on their team right they will have to two out of eight everyday players. Who are thirty are older and one of them? Pollick is exactly thirty and now if you platoon Peterson you have one yet turner. He's it every other. Forget will Smith Max money. Who's twenty nine? Yeah Gavin Lexus. Twenty one yeah cory. Seager cody bellinger. mookie Betts is twenty-seven all those guys these are young and so they're gonNA have to pay bellinger like his numbers coming up. Yep But when like will Smith doesn't make a lot of money no they just signed Max months a very reasonable reasonable deal Gavin. LEX Makes Nothing Cory Seager resum impede yet. Yeah you know so all of a sudden now politics deal looks very reasonable All of a sudden now you have a whole whole bunch of cost controlled players and you can spend the big money on. Mookie Betts if you want to And you know and this is all assuming by the way that Walker Bueller is who we think he is. Yeah I met. He's a top of the rotation starter. Who by the way Greg? What is he twenty two walker? Buehler's twenty twenty four twenty four. Yeah I knew he was young. You'll be entering his twenty five h twenty five season. So I mean they've they're setup because their farm system has been so good and because because Andrew Friedman held onto all these guys that now they don't have to spend a lot of money on their stars except for bets. IF THEY WANNA sign him Kershaw makes the second most money on the team. Yeah and Well actually makes more than bets right pencils. Bits it's going to be twenty million this year. I think Kirsch I'm thirty. Seven and Kershaw makes more. Yeah so but other than Kirsch coming off the books yep so next year the year after kershaw comes off So they've got the money they can do it their position addition to offer him. That number you're talking about yeah. They've just never done it before now. It's now it's where the sport is go. Supposedly they went to three hundred million on Garrett Cole right so there's been an indication that they recognized. They may have to go the bigger numbers and longer terms in order to get really premium talent for the short term. But I think there's now I is. mookie Betts let's say mookie. Betts is a rental okay. Let's say they only have them for Year Cape Do they win it In your scenario do they win the title with one year. Yeah totally totally worth the deal. What if they don't win it and they lose him? Yeah all of it. We give all they gave up. They gave up Alex. Verduga do go jeter. Downs and Connor Connor. One is reminds me in the angels traded. Everybody do not Trade Kennedy Morale Carries Morales. He's like the future of your retired this week and And the angels traded in for Mark Teixeira. Yeah for one year and to share put up monster numbers. They lost in the playoffs. Yeah I think it was. Mike Trout's only playoffs. He's he's like they got their thought. It was totally worth it. Yeah and to share left and went and signed with the Yankees but so and I think dodger fans are grumbly bunch. The you know you think about the last seven years latte seven straight years winning the division title to World Series lost both of them and they really have become the braves. They've won more. The only team team that has gone longer winning division titles and not winning the world series. The braves they did it ten straight years they did get to world series and won one in that fourteen. That's all we need. We need. We need one world series. And there's some urgency. Now as Michael Thompson would say. There's it's it's that easy word urgency up They've they've got some And this is the kind of deal that sends a signal to fans that they're going to try to do what it takes to win I would love to see them. Keep Peterson it's coming off. Thirty seven home runs against right handers out in left field field would be just fantastic and again he and by the angels are blowing this thing. They got a guy that they don't take into the rotation and understand stand guy doing play every day for him. It such a mistake. It's already Marino to we know. Why is that what you're hearing it's already Marino? He got all pissed off over. This thing that that was dragged on and finally said go pound sand gnats. I'm it's still it's still a really good deal..
