"The one notable race came in in Detroit itself, where Congresswoman receded to leave. She's a member of the squad as they call that a group of young progressive women activists who are members of Congress. Now she won her primary by very fairly comfortable margin over Brenda Jones, who was long Times City official That was a rematch of two years ago when to leave, barely held off Brenda Jones. This time around, it was a pretty convincing result. What about the pandemic and its impact on voting? We heard some really horror stories this primary season. How successful was the rollout yesterday? So things look like they went relatively smooth. Yesterday. I will say there have been some reports about people in Michigan specifically not getting their absentee ballots or their absence about applications on time. That raises more questions about whether or not the postal Service is equipped to handle what we're going to see. Insert in terms of a massive surge of interest in mail in voting. One statistic, Justo sort of shine a light on how likely we are to see that Serge 24 years ago in Minnesota about I just saw the statistic. A couple of minutes ago, About 25,000 people requested absentee ballots in their primary in 2018 About 50,000 requested ballots in their primary. And this year, 10 days before the primary, More than 550,000 people have already requested absentee ballots 10 times the previous records that tells you that more and more people are turning to vote by mail just to avoid this virus. Well, Speaking of virus, understand you're currently in Washington State. Just seen a huge surge in cases in the last few weeks. Tell us what's going on. They're so I'm in a small area called Okanagan County. There are very, very few cases in these small communities where people from Seattle flock every weekend. They're very wealthy. They're very white on DH. And there's a there's always, you know, different ways to look at things. But if you flip around which she was able to get done in three years, she may have gotten more done in those. I mean in three weeks, she may have gotten done more more. She may have gotten more done in those three weeks, then many members of congress have gotten done in their entire careers. And you know, well, what else is when you think about it. I mean, those whether you're whether you're era congress person or your Senator I mean, you have a full staff like how did she compile a staff that she just use John Conyers old staff? How how I mean, you got to have people that are that are working for you. And and dialed into to all these different bills and how you should vote. And that's I mean, that's a lot of work. And as far as we know none of them were harassed during that brief tenure, but it kind of raises a question here. And I'm having a little bit of fun with the council. President who I think is a is a pretty good sport. But if you had a job you aspired to and didn't quite get it. But somebody said, you know, what you can do it. In the meantime, you can keep the seat warm. Would you do? Do that. If somebody said, you know, what I know you wanna be the starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. First time in one hundred years that a local official has also a high ranking local officials also served as a member of congress. And she honored a Reverend with who has served for forty five years as a minister and finally congratulated William Bill Ratliff on being named assistant chief of police at the Inkster police department in other words, some pretty heavy lifting. Some pretty big doings there in Washington and not much to show for it at the end of the three weeks, which isn't that different from her ten years on city council where it's pretty hard to see what she's done there as well. But anyways, Brenda Jones home to Detroit to try and get some work done here. Having spent that Cup of coffee in Washington. I think the coffee just barely cooled. But now we can look forward to her full attention being here on the city of Detroit. She has replaced by Rashida to leave. Bennett-jones Jones the very short term to replace John cange to finish up his term but lost in the bid to replace him outright for a two year term. So Rashida to Lee is there and promises to make a lot more noise, then congresswoman Jones, but we welcome her back to Detroit, and we are going to take a little break just to reflect on the many accomplishments of..
