"Back on a memorable breeders cup 2022 in the company of racing TVs. Naomi Tucker Naomi, welcome back to the show. Thanks, Emma. Glad to be here. That was a fun two days and well, it was funny because I was discussing with poster races with George baker and Tom standing Angus mcnay and I think me and homework thinking this is not going to be a good British club for the year. I was like, no, this is tough. The American continues really, really good. Just completely cleaning up. I'm like, yeah, here you go. Look, I'm happy. I'm of course you're being even though everyone keeps thinking that I'm like a replacement America, maybe in a way I am. So in a way, I can switch sides, right? So conveniently, I'm European when it comes to the pre disco. Yeah, I'm right, you are. I'm turf, your European, on the dirt you're America. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, I'll take that. I wouldn't take any European hosts on the dirt, not really. But Charlie Apollo might change your mind on that one. Mister magic. I'm sure I'm sure he'll find a way. Yeah. Because the thing on a really enjoyed the coverage of racing TV you have to say, shout out to yourself, Angus magne, George baker, is an absolute gentleman had a pleasure of doing a Goodwood preview with him a few years ago and Tom Stanley is just an absolute gentleman and one of the best presenters in the business. And the way he let that flow between all of you was just terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed watching racing TV on Friday night. I was at a function on Saturday because my mother was getting an award. Congratulations. An award from the Pope. That's not a joke, by the way. There's now a plaque. There's a scroll in our home, signed by the Pope. Of all the things you could have told me, that was not one that was coming up in my head. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. So listen, mom's been entire secretary for over 20 years. And she's done some remarkable work over the years. And yeah, they were acknowledging three people who've done incredible work. And a man was one of them, and she was presented with a beautiful medal, and this scroll, and it's officially signed by Pope Benedict. So yeah, I was extraordinary. So that had to take that took a more important shall we say on Saturday night. Yet we were in a hotel afterwards. With the function going on and having a bite to eat. And I did conveniently wander up to the bar. To get a pint. Just as the breeders cup turf was going on. As you do, just as rebels romance was entering the gate and when he rounded the bend and exploded into it, I might have let go a roar, particularly seeing as I was getting the forecast and the tri cast up. Come on. Come on, got a Civil War. We'll talk about that. We banged it out of the park, by the way. We knocked it out of the park with the winners. It was unbelievable. But I really enjoyed it. I watched it all back afterwards, and we enjoyed the dynamic between yourself and Tom and George and Angus is always terrific. So yeah, well done to you. I've sky did a great job. ITV did a great job, but look, I was glued to you guys for the most. And when I got home, that is. And I really enjoyed it. And I was more invested in the breeders cup this year than in the last couple of years. And I think that might be a COVID thing. I think the fact that there was no crowd and we were all just a little bit low, I might not have been as big on the breeders cup last year as I have been in the past, but my God, I was fully invested in it this year. And I loved every second of it. It was brilliant. See, I think it's the best racing meeting on earth without the shadow of doubt. I'm sure there will be naysayers, but I hope to me. Naomi. None is better than the British cup. It's November. Cheltenham. Come on there. Sorry,

"Is this something where you're looking months down the road and planning out a possible schedule for these talented two year olds, maybe for the start of the three year old year? I think you will. I think it will after Saturday. I think right now for both of these, you know, we've pretty much tried to tailor their training toward getting them to this weekend and I feel like we've done all we can do. We just got to lead them over there and see if they're good enough. And hopefully get the good trips. But, you know, you really point for the breeder stuff because this could be the day they stamped himself as a champion. And then come Sunday morning. Yeah, you're right. It's time to hopefully as long as they come out of it. Sounded healthy and happy. You start marching forward to a spring campaign and how you get to the classic races such as the oaks and the Derby. Brad, you mentioned a little bit about cyber knife running Saturday in the dirt mile. He will certainly be a shorter price in that race than he would have been in the classic. Are there plans for cyber knife after this? Hopefully, I'm saying this on a very selfish note. We are hoping he is not retired after his three year old campaign, but what are the plans as far as four year old for cyber knife? Well, to my knowledge he will be retired to stud that does not mean that he can not, he'll be retired to stud in 2023. Does not mean he can not race up until breeding season. So I mean, there's a possibility to return for a race or two following the breeders cup as long as he comes out of a good order and we see what we need to see from him on Saturday. Have you looked at the race closely at all? I know you game plan before the races, but kind of getting an idea of where you would want cyber knife to be maybe in the early part of the race. He looks like a such a versatile horse. He's run well on or near the lead had shown the ability to pass horses if he needs to do that. That trip he got in the Haskell and the ride by Florence Giroud was just fantastic where it looked like table was home free at the top of the stretch and he outgunned him to the wire. What kind of trip are you looking for in the dirt mile? Probably won't get that trip saving on the ground with the post. But somewhere just setting off the leaders is kind of what, once again, as long as he breaks well, some are standing right off the leaders, I think, would be an ideal situation for him to give us best opportunity to you really got to be in position here turning for home with this short stretch mile race. So you're going to have to get your position half mile pole three 8 pole. You kind of have to be right there and moving along well and going forward because you don't have much, there's not a lot of position changing really in this mile race here at quinoa. Once they hit the top of the turn. Brad, we appreciate you taking the time. One last thing before we let you go as we were coming out of break, we heard the stretch run of monomoy girl winning the 2018 distaff your first breeders cup victory. Take us back. What did that victory mean to you? And what does a breeders cup win mean a first breeder's cup mean to a trainer? Relief. I mean a lot, but I mean, you know, they're hard to win. They're very hard to win. I can't remember exactly the number of starters we had had prior to her victory. I think it was maybe 5 or 7, but you hear of guys taking a while to win one. And when you win when you're like, wow, okay. That's good. And honestly, that day I was like, all right, well, that's great. We got one and that may be the only one we get, but we got one. So that's great. So I guess maybe a little bit of a sense of relief, but it's great. I mean, for her, she was a champion. She meant so much. She was our first big horse that put us on, I would say the world stage. So it was an amazing feeling. It happened there at church, where she had had so much success. And it was a home track for me. So that truly meant a lot and it was a great day. Well, Brad, really appreciate you taking the time. I know you're busy man, but we wish you the best of luck, both Friday and Saturday and thanks so much for joining us. Thanks, guys. See you this weekend. Good luck. As always, Brad Cox very candid, very knowledgeable about all of his runners and he's going to have major sales both today and tomorrow in these breeders cup world championships. Another note about his dirt mile contender cyber knife learned earlier today on the program that cyber knife is actually going to stand stud at spendthrift farm starting in 2023. So exciting times ahead for the connections of cyber knife. He has been phenomenal on the racetrack. He obviously has a huge chance tomorrow in the breeders cup dirt mile and then looking forward to a couple of years down the road seeing his offspring. He will be standing at stud starting in 2023 over at spent three farm. All right, we're going to take another break. When we come back, it's handicapping time. Mentioned that we will be covering all of the breeders cup races live here on the network, just starting well less than a half hour from now at 3 p.m., but we haven't really talked that much about handicapping. We're going to cover all the Saturday races on the weekend stakes preview presented by naira bets tonight at 6 p.m. when we come back from break. I'm going to look at today's 5 breeders cup events for the two year olds. This is betting with Bobby presented by

"Or otherwise a low draw is not going to help you out. So definitely all depends, how quick are you, what kind of position do you want? I ended up going with the number 5 gun night for training Steve asked me, I think he's got perfect position in the middle. He has that early pace. He's going to be able to either get to the front or stay close to the front. He fits that gay to wire profile that I was looking for. He's of course by gun runner inject that stamina in their gun runner who's won the classic mount on a quarter. And ghanaians lost when at keeneland he got some pace company early on and hence it didn't feel like anything was handed to him. He went three wide into the turn took over. It was very impressive, solid figure as well. One O 6 buyer. He just kind of ticks all the boxes for me in here. I'm liking that, and you have me sold, or do you, Barry? Well, she said, absolutely. Naomi said, he was like, that was my conclusion. And that last race was only on the 22nd of October, which is relatively close, but I saw an interview with Steve asman the other day. And he had a real twinkling his owners talking about this one. So I think that goodnight fits ticks all those boxes, everything to now and said and I really really like it more about him. He was 6 to one earlier than we thought we had a reason there, but that was good enough for me. Best price 11 to two currently in the UK and Ireland goodnight goodnight G night, whatever pronunciation you want to go for. Number 5 in the dart mile apologies. I'm so sorry. And I never apologize because I was told when I was starting a broadcasting by a great broadcaster called John Walsh, never apologize. But I feel obliged to apologize there. I can't believe I didn't mention the sponsor. Big ass fans. Dirt mild. G unite, let's go. Right. The maker's mark, breeders cup, Philly and mere turf. This is a really interesting renewal of the race. And there's a very strong favorite. Obviously, coming over from the UK, train by John and Eddie gostin, Nashua, Holly Doyle, 6 to four currently above the curve is a shorter price than Tuesday. Have you seen the jockey bookings? 11 to two, with Johnny Velasquez on board, run more is on board for 8 O'Brien and Tuesday, 15 to two, and in Italian 7 to one. Coolmore have half the field. It looks like in this between Aidan Joseph and several American based trainers. Naomi, who are you siding with? I mean, the last 5 renewals, the Euros have won three. I think America's one one and then Japan got it with love's only you last year, which was their first ever British cup win, which is always something to be happy about. Fun fact that a draw here, they start kind of on the bend a little bit, which means there is a slight angle and a Hydra might not be as advantageous because you feel like you have to come over even more. I ended up really liking above the curve. So a bit of a shame that she's now a short price. She's very close to the pace in the preload longchamp. Really had to dig in deep to try and close the gap to the eventual winner that was heavy going. I felt like it just blunted her ever so slightly. So I do really like her in here, but look, I have been looking at Tuesday as well. She's a pity, of course, that you can't really not look at. She's the oaks winner. Hasn't won since, but she is gonna get that sharper ground that seems to bring out the best in him. Yeah, big time. There's a lot of things are falling into her favor, and if she can replicate that run behind helping east at York, she wins. Barry was trying out for both of them as well. Yeah, in the middle. And also, just to clarify, I did ask on Tuesday in the stable tournament if you haven't listened to it, it's available on your podcast feed right now about Ryan because he was on above the curve on Arctic in the predator opera. And he did have the choice and he chose to go back on Tuesday. So that's Katie now. That's interesting. I wondered if he had a choice, 'cause that's

"This is at three 50. It's beautiful time for us this year for the previous couple from our perspective. Sisi is the 6 to one favorite from wicked halo tens and obligatory 11 to one. Naomi kick us off. I'm just quickly scoring back to this. I think I went to the wrong way. You know how, you remember when I've done that before in the past and I started talking about the wrong race, so I was double checking it. Look, I don't have the strongest opinion in the Philly and spread CC, of course, is defending champion. I'm not going with her. I am going to go with good night, olive. I think she's going to end up being the favorite for Chad Brown. She just looked really, really good in the ballerina stakes at Saratoga. She just stalked took over an absolutely rolled home. That was an insane effort. She freshened up after that was that triple digit buyer. She just looks like she's doing really, really well. If you're looking at her running style, the other host that I kind of found intriguing in here was Frank's roquette. I do think that goodnight Oliver is going to have to jump on her and she's going to be a touch closer, which you do like to see with that distance of 7 furlong. They have plenty of time to sort themselves out there jumping from the shoot. But you want them to be within reach because it's kind of that in between distance between a true and it's not true sprint and it's not a true mild test either. You want them to be just about there. CC yes defending champ is seemingly getting back sort of in the right direction. I'm going to take a stand against her. I don't think she's in the right kind of form just yet. Could she jump back up? Sure, but I'm not going to I'm not going to be on board. I find Frank's raquette more interesting as a second horse to use for Bill Mott because she runs really well fresh. And then she ran against the boys here in the British cup sprint. Now she didn't do well, but that was a gutsy move from Bill Mark because she was so, so sharp at the time. And you know, she's a little bit older now. She's a 5 year old, but she seems to be absolutely rolling in her last couple of starts. Okay. Barry, you've got a historical comparison for us. Back in the 2000s, there was a horse called Ventura, where she carried the judgment farms colors and was trained by Bobby Franklin, she's totally paced dependent. The two years she ran in this division, the first year they went like fury, and he was for them. And fury early on and she just picked up the piece at the end of model three and won by four lengths. The following year, they were probably two seconds slower in the early fractions. And she just couldn't get to the winner. And I've got a horse here, a Philly here who is actually going to turn over the four and a quarter lenses being my goodnight olive at last time. Sorry, Naomi. And that is obligatory. So John Montreal by Bill Mott. She got checked in traffic behind the night olive last time. Again, a closing race over 7 films at the time before being half a length by Bela Sophia, what I was having films at Churchill in May. This is her trip. She loves this trip. There's going to be plenty of speed in here, and I just think Jose is going to get roaming late and pick them all up, probably good night, I'll be the last one she takes. Oh, I'm liking this. This has got bucks exactly written all over it. Good not all of us currently threes and obligatory 11s. There we go, the straight actor. Sorry, Naomi. Obligatory 11s currently in three to one about the current favorite goodnight, olive. This brings us to the breeders cup turf sprint. High field princess goes in quest of her fourth consecutive group one in a row and she will be back next year. She's not favorite though. She's 5 to two behind golden Powell, who bids for his third consecutive breeder's cup victory at 15 to 8 after that campanelli, second runner who was the award Frankie on board is 12 shot and created a force for Charlie Apollo William Buick is 12s as well. Barry, you can lead us off for the breeders cup turf sprint. Is it going to be golden Powell? Is it going to be high field princess? Is it going to be someone else? A couple of days ago I was going through this race. I've been back and forth with golden polish here where the favorite isn't last year thought he wasn't mainly looking close by winning easily. I'm not quite sure he's quite that whole this year. And I've come around very, very much to the side of highfield princess here. The worry with British horses is that they never go around turns and they never run around Ben. So when the glass slippers once this race, she'd actually won a chess, that's good enough for me. And hyper princess may have only walls, but is she gone rounder, a tight left hand bent, so I've got no worries about taking the Benz. I think she's quick enough. She stood 6 on really well. And I just think that she can beat golden palm. Certainly. Nice mention of class slippers because everybody you Naomi all put glass up on the final front podcast that year. It was 20,000 dollars. Oh, that was true. It was 2020. 20 20 love it. Absolutely love it. Naomi, who are you siding with? I was going back and forth so much. Of course, Barry was saying hi for princess. Did you say she won at wolves or she ran? She ran there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 'cause that was the first thing I looked for as well as the problematic issue of, can you carry the speeds around through? I had her on top and then I backtracked and I am siding with the Americans. I'm going with golden pal because this horse is full from four here at Keenan. He trains here west reward is based here. Golden pow alt to outbreak that has absolutely tremendous gate speed. That is his weapon. I think he's going to try to run them off their feet. And that might just be the end of it. And I hope that's what's going to happen because I haven't on top. I like him an awful lot as well. And I'm probably with you. Barry almost pulled me over to how I feel princess. And memories are very much there of the fiasco at Roy lascaux. This is a home game. This is a home fixture for golden pal and I think you'll take all the beating. I'm with you Naomi. Big ass fans. Oh, we love big S fans. Breeders cup dirt mile. Having a clue, Naomi, who do you like? This is my favorite race. Remember. Big ass fans. Okay, so I actually have a horse that I love in here, but just to give everyone a quick perspective last time I quit, it was next go who took them gate to wire and then last year life is good that the same. Now for the dirt Mao, the Ben comes up really quickly I was watching the last time it was held here at keenland and if you're drawn low and you don't have speed, you are going to get slammed on the rail. There was some trouble. Here the last time it was held, you have to hold your position or show speed or otherwise a low draw is not going to help you out. So definitely

"I mentioned, for an example, on Peru, who took them gauge to wire last time this event was at keenland. And of course, trained by the master and Aiden O'Brien, I think he knows how to make runner's day. Yeah, and she also acts on pretty much any surface. So the good to firm will be of no issue to her whatsoever. It is a tricky race though, Barry. It is certainly a worthy favorite. But I'm like, you said the price is getting a little bit skinny now. And absolutely looked at around elsewhere and last year the winner from this race for this place on a piece of Bianca ran in the Nutella in a combine didn't even win the race but came back in one. I'm picking a long shot out of that race and trained by a grand motion who came here with, I think was sharing their Maryland, knowing no better than me about that before coming to win this particular division. And I say he took this last up to woodbine. I think it was just a second start and she was really, really weird with it. She came into the straight and she got quite a few horses in front of her and she eventually got a gap which she sort of made a bit through it. She's looking around the stargazing. She looked like a kid firsthand at Disneyland. Oh, what's on this? And eventually knuckle down. And there's so much more to come from this for them. I'm sure there is. And very interested with the booking of William Buick for the ride. So I've got I'm certainly going to use meditating my exacto combination together with pleasant passage who when he won at the haters racing in New York, miss grillo. It looked like you wore the dog on the front there. A line I've used in peace and riddle. But looking, again, now to use a very worthy winner in that race. And I think he's kind of a bit overlooked. So he's in the mix as well. So pleasant passage is 11s and G Laurie is 12s with the first time blinkers and as you said, William Buick on board. The box X actor and the try cast will definitely be played in the juvenile Phillies turf all over meditate. I've been talking about a horse for the breeders cup juvenile since September and he arrives. The problem is, now everybody knows about him and his odds on. Cave rock for Bob Baffert, who famously said in 2001 on an NBC interview talking about officer. I got a superstar. Go look up that YouTube clip. It's hilarious, especially in the context of Johannesburg, coming along and burying them afterwards. But he does have a terrific record in this race. He's one at 5 times. This has been the plan for the season basically for this was since he won on his debut. He's won grade ones, two of them by over 5 lengths. Connections hold him in the highest regard and he costs 550,000 back in the day when he was just a yearling. I really like cave rock, but tell me where the value lies elsewhere Naomi, or is it just a case of he's a point and shoot job? I sat on this race and I kept going back and forth and I was like, you know what? I'm gonna try and beat him, even though he by far has the best numbers of all the runners in here and he's clearly ultra ultra talented. So K four K is gonna be super, super short. I think the only horse that might be able to find his way to the winner's circle would be four J for top Fletcher completely different running style from cave rock a rock is gonna go to the front and I'm gonna try and string them along. There is a couple of other horses that have speed in here. I'm hoping that means he's gonna have company and he might not like it. They might go too fast and a horse that will come lurking and will enjoy a bit of a hot pace would be 40 for a top glitch. One here of course in distance in the British fragility doing exactly that they went hard up front. He stayed a couple lengths off it was able to kind of loop the field and roll on row home. Now it's a tall ask, but if anyone can get it done, it's top black cheese won this race twice already. With the radio tees junior in the plate as well. So he's coming at a four K of rock is coming out of three. Barry, how do you see it unfolding? First, the rest of nowhere. Very pleasurable. Just deflated Naomi here. I'm so sorry. So hard here. I don't know that my first inclination in any race is to try and beat the favorite. And the general science that when you're doing research is, you don't try and prove your theory. You find it impossible to disprove it. And that a lot of the sort of selling some say, no, it doesn't do. You say so hard, when you discover you can't disprove it, you actually proved it. And I tried to try and try and try but is always three rooms ahead of the past speed figure for this division on buyer on prisoner. Anybody care to mention, it's miles to what we're seeing on the east coast of forte. I don't know. Is both his figures and below par well below dealt with you see him blazing 7s, I think, who he beat ever in the past 14. But to me, the most likely one who might have K rock is his bar mate national treasure who runs in blinkers in the first time, he got to within 5 months and on his second start, but I really can't I'd be staggered if he came up with this. To be honest, I would too. I remember watching him bizarrely live. I was up late and it was I'm pretty sure our good friend Tim Carroll who's on with his Monday was hosting Skye and I was blown away by him. This was the 12th of September. He was stunning. And equally stunning then at Santa need as well. I think you'll win, but for context, because this is audio. Naomi was like a balloon, and Barry was the pin, and Naomi just burst. Coming in with an alternative and it just gets crushed. But hey, let's see. Maybe Naomi's right. But gotta try. You gotta draw it. Listen, you can't have tried, but I think cave rockers. If you want to put them in your multiples, I would not stop you at all. Last race. On Friday night and it's very friendly time wise. Sky racing TV, ITV 9 40 last race, so we get to see the first one from 7. It's falling beautifully for us, and we have a short priced favorite for the breeder scope juvenile turf. 5 to four silver knot.

"See authentic every day of the year. Certainly if he wants to Ned toffee general manager, it spent through farm where authentic and many other great stallions reside Ned. Thanks for taking the time. Thank you for having me. Tell us what it's like when you have a horse like authentic who not only you guys stand, but obviously had ownership of when you when they come into the top of the stretch at a race like the breeders cup classic and you're in front are you going out in your mind? You're a very low key guy to begin with. I would love to have a camera on you in these situations. Yeah, you know, and you try to sort of keep your wits about you, but when they hit the top of the stretch and you're in contention, it's you can get pretty animated. And I always say that there's no feeling like that. And it's true if you got a horse and a claim and race and it's really true when you have a horse in The Kentucky Derby or the breeders cup classic, there's just no better feeling and you're rooting them on and you're hoping they get there and no feeling like it when they do. Yeah, that's so accurate because you're not even thinking about the type of race it is or the purse or none of that's going through your mind, right? It's like you and your horse, you're just loving the performance and the excitement of the race and all that. The rest of this stuff doesn't really matter. You're not thinking about the trophy or anything. No, I think that's true. And it's so tough to win a race. And again, any race. So and there's so much that goes into all of this and so much hard work and money frankly sometimes and so when you're able to be in that position, it's just it's very, very gratifying and really exciting. Are you a curse at the TV kind of a guy? Oh yeah.

"How does feel since her last race? She's really coming into this racing good form. She had a great work here. When we first got here, she went 46 and change. And just did it easy in the way you'd like to see them do it. We came back on Sunday, gave her another breeze. And again, it was more of a you with her. She went a minute and changed. And just real easy. She's doing great. She's got a good flush on her and she looks great. And then you guys are going to saddle a long shot in the turf sprint on Saturday bran who's actually coming off a win in the great two turf sprint at Kentucky downs. I've noticed that a lot of the horses that are running in turf races in the breeders cup use those that meet at Kentucky downs as a springboard for them. Have you noticed any real positives coming off those races are sending horses to those races at Kentucky downs and pointing toward the breeders cup after that? Well, I mean, just going with bran, we did that because the timing was right. We had one race at home, was if I'm not mistaken, I think it was 200,000 and when you can run for 5 50 and have a shot and the distance is going to be a lot better for brand it Kentucky down to the 6 furlongs was del mar would have been 5 eighths. So for us, it was a natural choice to go to Kentucky downs and he's a horse that's shown he can ship and run well when we ran him at Churchill downs in May any rent a super race, he was overlooked on the bedding there as well. He was I think you might have been like 40 to one. And he finished second and it was and he gave a good account of himself that day. So, you know, we were pretty confident going to Kentucky downs that he was going to run a good race and obviously she did. He put the race of his life that day. Well, a repeat of that race speed figure wise would certainly make him a major player in the turf sprint. I'm sure that gold and Powell is going to have something to say about it. But bran certainly a live long shot is also a long shot on the morning line, although I think she's going to get some play in the filling in mayor sprint and obviously flight line is going to be a heavy favorite in the final breeders Cup race. The breeders cup classic. Before we let you go, you know, we're obviously getting toward the end of flight lines career. It sounds like there's a chance that he could be retired to stud next year. If he does, he could still run in the Pegasus at Gulfstream park early in the year before retiring. Is there something in the back of your mind knowing that this is getting near the end of your time with this superstar? Yeah, I spoke to this about the other day with somebody that anyone would be about it. And I got a little bit of emotional because this is a once in a lifetime horse and unfortunately for me, I'm only 38 years old. So I'm going to have to go a lot of years. Just thinking about what it would like to have this horse in the barn. Kind of like this doesn't come around too often and obviously it's going to be a big hole in the barn when he's gone. But he's given us everything we've asked of him. He's put in superstar performances every time he's been on the racetrack. So I feel like we've done right by this horse. We've done everything we could have. For him and it'll be bittersweet if he retires at the end of the year. But I'm also going to be happy to see him move on to his next phase and hopefully be a successful stallion. Juan really appreciate you taking the time. By the way, 38 years old, you realize you're 30 years younger than perrie ood so I think it's still the leading rider at well, I keep calling it river downs, but it's belterra park. Maybe you can get back in the saddle and ride in the afternoons again, my friend. No, that's not going to happen, by the way. I enjoy going out to restaurants, so I don't think that's going to happen. All right, Juan, I really appreciate it. Thank you so much. I know it's a busy week. It's probably a stressful week, but try to enjoy it and hopefully it all works out the way that you and a lot of people think it will on this Saturday. Thank you. I'm really enjoying my time here. I'm just soaking it all in and just enjoying the time I have right now with flatline. All right, but now since you've basically said that you like to go out and eat everything, let's go out and get some pizza and beer sometime, one of these nights, my friend. Yeah, sounds good. All right, pal. Juan leiva, the assistant trainer for John Sadler. He is the regular exercise rider for both flight line and also gets on bran all three of them have shots on this Saturday in the breeders cup world championships. All right, we're going to take a break. When we come back, we're going to talk a little bit about what's coming up shortly after the breeders cup Jew, that big sale phasic tipton November sale, which there are several breeders cup runners actually in the sale, believe it or not. "Saturday. Want to let everybody know we are going to be on live, covering the races Friday from three to 6 p.m.. So as soon as we come on the air Friday is right when they're going to run the juvenile turf sprint. And then we'll be on starting 1130 all the way till 6 p.m. on Saturday. First breeders cup Saturday race is 1150 a.m. and the breeders cup classic is slated to go at 5 40 p.m.. Please to be joined now by our first guest. He's the jockey agent for both Joel Rosario and John Velasquez, which means he's a very busy man, not only these days, but it seems like every day, Ron Anderson, thanks for taking the time, my friend. Thanks for having me, guys. Well, Ron, you know, these are exciting days. Those of us who are racing fans, we can't wait. We wait all year long for things like this. Is there any difference for you a week like this as compared to a regular weekend of racing in the lives of Ron Anderson John Velasquez and Joel Rosario? Well, Bobby, this weekend is a culmination of the last O 6 8 ten weeks of races. To build up to this, you've got to try and be on horses. First to get in these races and then you've got to be on the ones that have some sort of a chance. So it's a bit of a challenge especially the last prep races because like I tell people, Joel and Johnny could have been at three different places, three weeks and four weeks out here. With live horses and you want you want to be in the right place that for that prep that leads into this weekend. So it's a bit of a juggling act and you got to be a little bit lucky. You've got to be like one of the flying wallenda brothers or whatever. You're always on a tightrope. You can't irritate the trainers and the owners, you got to keep your jocks happy. What's that like doing that dance every day? Well, you point out a good the tough side of my part of the game. First I got to get them on the right horses and keep them happy. And then the other thing like I tell people, when you have two or three up four options sometimes in a race, you've got to be on the right horse and keep the other guys that you can't provide for happy. And that's not the hardest part of the game for me. But when you have world class riders like I have been able to represent, they make it easy. They say the right things, they do the right things. So it makes it easier, but like you say, it's a bit of a day to day. High wire act

"Tom durkin on the call of the 2003 breeders cup juvenile Philly's one impressively by the dick Mandela traine half bridled one of four breeders cup victories that year for trainer dick Mandela. Mandela Hall of Famer inducted back in 2001 and pleased to be joined by the Hall of Famer now on the breeders cup countdown presented by hillendale farm dick. Thanks for taking the time. My pleasure. Well, as usual, when it comes to breeders cup time, you're a busy guy. You're busy all the time. Keeping a stable year round here in Southern California, but breeders cup time certainly a busy time for you. You have four horses entered this year in the breeders cup races. Two of them are on the also eligibles list. Sumter tomorrow, bombard on Saturday. And then two of them in the main bodies of the field, dog tag in the filling mirror turf united on the turf. First of all, what are the realistic chances of the also eligible drawing? Well, let me interrupt you. We got some news hot off the press. Bombards got a sore foot. And United's got a little swelling over suspensory. The last couple of days didn't seem like much, but I let him open gallop today, and it's there's something there. He's not going to run. Okay, so back in clean, but there's something going on. I'm not going to take a chance. It's not bombarding united or out. Are these career threatening or just something that little time? Okay. So really bad timing, bad news, bombard will not go in the turf sprint. He's on the also eligible list. United who seems to dance every dance in these big turf races, especially the ones here in Southern California, but in the breeders cups as well. He will be scratched from the breeders cup turf on Saturday. So you heard it here first right from his trainer dick Mandela. So it seems like unless sumpter draws in tomorrow. You're going to have one runner on Saturday on the two days of the breeders cup. And that is dog tag in the filly and mere turf. So dog tag is going to carry the American colors against a whole lot of Euros in that filly in Meritor. But dog tag has been very, very good in her races. Even the races she doesn't win, she's usually right there and but this has not been her favorite turf course thus far. Most of her winds have come up at Santa Anita places like that. Have you noticed any difference with her down here or is this just the way things have shook out? Probably just the way things go. We just call those warmup pitches. She is written by top jock flavian Pratt, who the lone time he wrote her was back in the possibly perfect back in the early part of 2020 and they got the win that day since then she's been ridden by and by the risk will lead Joe bravo last time out in the rodeo drive, and really not far behind going to Vegas. Richard bolt is training in both of those races. Big price on the morning line most of her races have been at shorter distances than a mile and three eighths. How do you envision her handling the extra ground? A lot of a racist she's coming late, not getting there. So we're hoping that the helps. Yeah. Well, my train is not working. So I got to change something. Here train is usually pretty good. I got to say. Speaking of your training, this is not a revelation. Your breathers cup successes. I know when it comes to this time of year, you're reminded of that fantastic day in 2003 a lot. What's going through your mind that day, having that many runners in the same day and just continually finding yourself in the winner's circle, getting pictures taken? You know, it all happened so fast and so big. It was kind of in shock all day. You could tell by the look on his face because we've been friends a long time. We were stabled here. Next one another for many years and you were just like, you had a glow on, but like, you know, you didn't even really, it didn't sunk in yet. I don't know when it did. Maybe the week after, I don't know. You're not a person that really gloats when you win and you don't get too excited when things happen. You told me one time that, you know, every morning, when you go to the barn, there's going to be some bad things. And I learned so much from him, just being stabled next to him and talking to him. I was really upset that they took the wood chips out of the paddock because we used to use it as a little galloping. You taught me how to do that. I won three races because he said, you know, that felt like she didn't like the train, why don't you jog her in the paddock? And I did, and I went three races in a row, and the guy would be a bunch of money and I got out on the whole deal and it was because of Richard, so. Did not for me a tip. You guys didn't talk to Joe Harper, getting to put the witch ships on main track when you guys had horses? That's a really, that was a really sneaky little little play..

"Is this something where you'll sit with jockey and brutal rispoli and game plan or does he pretty much know what to do with this Philly? Now I'll make say a couple words to him, but I don't know if he's gonna listen. He might not. He's very competitive guy in, you know. He's pretty smart. I mean, he knows what he's doing, but yeah, I mean, like when she ran last time, he said, I'm going to the lead. I'm like, you don't have to go to the lead, but anyway. You don't have to do anything to do. No. Anyway, so yeah, it worked. I think he's very, very good rider, but he knows a Philly really well, so we drew inside she has to do his break for clean and she'll be should be saving ground, right? Should we should be saving ground? It's a short run to the turn too. My three turn. So the inside is really not a huge advantage compared to being in the 12 hole, let's say. Yeah, unless they want somebody who wants to go. But, you know, I don't know. I mean, it's exciting. I think we have a chance. You know, obviously we have to run against these beast from Europe, but in their records pretty good when they run in these races. I know like the last time I think was the last Omar's cup of Euros, I think they swept everything on the turf, but we're gonna try. Yeah. We got a good shot. I love the way she's been training. She's a great in the morning. She's in top form right now and we're real happy with her. Oh, Richard really appreciate you taking the time to join us here on the breeders cup countdown presented by hillendale farms, Richard Baltus, sent out gen nobly in the dirt miles Saturday, going to Vegas in the Philly and air turf. Two runners that have chances. And that's all you can ask. Yeah, it would be nice. Thanks so much, really appreciate you taking the time. Thank you guys. All right. All right, Richard both trains around the year round here in Southern California. But of course, part of the big days this coming Friday and Saturday, especially Saturday with the dirt mile in ginobili and the filling mayor turf with going to Vegas. Jude, I know several people who really like ginobili in the dirt mile and just love the way he's looked, especially his last two races here at del mar and with those blinkers on. I mean, those two racers are phenomenal. Yeah, he's been doing really good and in the Phillies been doing really good so richer has a couple nice shots. Absolutely. He does. Well, we're going to hopefully go from one locally based trainer named Richard to another locally based trainer named Richard. Dick Mandela, Hall of Famer, set to join us live. We're going to take a break. You're listening to the breeders cup countdown presented by hillendale farms on HR N a 5 time greatest stakes winning earner of almost $3 million. "Impressively by the brilliant golden scents getting the job done. Welcome back to the breeders cup countdown presented by hillendale farm Bobby Newman alongside Jude feld. In the grandstand overlooking the racetrack at the beautiful del mar thoroughbred club, Jude, if we could have these exact seats for every breeder's cup that was ever run, we'd be very happy. Absolutely. I'll just put them on my debit card. I don't know if you're debit cards. I'm sure it doesn't get these are like these are like $1 million seats. These are fantastic. We're getting to see all of the equine stars going bias in the morning we saw a lot of the European runners trained by Charlie appleby and Brian me and go earlier. The Aidan O'Brien contingent is in their procession around the racetrack right now. They're going in a pack of 7 and it's amazing watching these aid and O'Brien runners because all of the exercise riders are clad exactly the same. You know, they're wearing black, dark colors with a kind of a maroon hat that's very easy to spot, they kind of jog around the racetrack in tighter quarters, which I guess helps them get used to the tight quarters that they used to racing in over in Europe. And the ones that are out on the track right now for O'Brien bolshoe ballet, mogul, broom, Japan, mother earth. And love who bob mentioned in the previous segment is one that he really, really likes. It's really fun seeing these horses that we never get to see out in front of us and really it seems like just an arms length away. Yeah, it's an amazing thing to watch. It's pretty cool and they're doing everything like they do at home. Well, when we came out of rape, we heard the replay of golden scents winning the 2014 breeders cup dirt mile, and a gentleman who's hoping to win the 2021 breeders cup dirt mile is joining us right now. Trainer Richard Baltus, who sends out both ginobili in the dirt mile and going to Vegas in the Philly and merit turf. Richard, thanks for joining us this morning. Thank you. It's exciting times. I know that you train here in Southern California regularly. So you still have to deal with the quote unquote regular happenings, opening day yesterday, racing today as well. Must be a little bit exciting though knowing that you've got these gigantic races on the line and you've got chances in both of these races. Yeah, I mean, that's what it's all about, I think you're fortunate enough for your horse to get here. We're fortunate enough to get a couple win in your end, so that's even better. And yeah, the horses are doing well, but obviously it's just the breeder's cup, so it's world championships and it truly is world championship racing. You know, we just saw. I think we just saw those ain't no Brian horses go by and if you really look at the whole thing, it's just amazing, isn't it that they can everybody comes here for one couple days and come all over the world and top trainers in the world, top horses in the world. That's awesome. Yeah. It really is. And the weather is perfect for horses from. They seem like they love it. You know that it's cooler here at del mar. It's not like in the summer where it can be on the humid side and get warmer from times. It's in the high 50s, low 60s in the mornings. It's only supposed to be in the mid 60s during the races, both tomorrow and Saturday. So everyone looks like they're making a good appearance. And horse that's made a tremendous appearance there at delmar, the last few times he's run here is ginobili. I don't know what you guys have figured out with ginobili. But his last two races here at del mar, one in allowance race and one in the great two paddle Brian were phenomenal and certainly make him a major player in the dirt mile on Saturday. Yeah, I mean, he's a lot of reasons why. He kind of actually surprised me when he won here when he ran that big race, but that being said, it was a horse that we always thought a lot of when I bought him as a yearling and then he was training really, really good, going into his first race and I think he just ran a dud at Los alamitos and I was like, oh, wow, what was that? And then came back here at dumbar and he won his second start with for aunt jeru on the lead wire to iron in impressive fashion. And any he had some stakes company races, he ran against the dowel and just started getting some little physical issues and a gal with him and we decided to stop on him and very minor surgery. On his ankles, you know, just minor stuff. And then we gave him four months off. And when he came back, he was just a much fresher sounder, happier, horse, and, you know? We put the blinkers on him. So that's a little changes. Yeah, a lot of little stuff and stretch them out and now he ran two great two very big races in a row, and, you know, I decided just to run them here. I mean, he's trained most of this. Most of his training has been assembly ray downs, and he's ran very well off that track. He's three for three at del mar, so now he's running against the big boys. That's got to make you feel confident three for three of them are, right? I mean, that's a track. I mean, I think that means a little something. I mean, obviously he's running against better horses, but it was the way he the way he won his last two races. He's a trained incredible actually trying to slow him down a lot last couple of works, so leave something in the tank, but how do you see the race setting up for you? I think what we're doing with the three holes so we'll probably just end up going with him. That's like we're not gonna take anything away from the horse. There's some speed on the outside the average horse. We'll see, you know, he's kind of said to me the other day. He's going, but who knows? I mean, life is good. You know, it'll be three to 5. A lot of speed in there. And some really talented horses, but ginobili's last two races are phenomenal and certainly point them out as if he can get the right trip in front of those one, sorry, run one of those races again. He looks basically like he's one of the ones in that spot and he looks great he's looked great his last two starts to tell Mark, you've got a really nice feeling going to Vegas going in the very next race the breeders cup filly and mere turf. She's coming off three consecutive wins, including one in the grade one or jail drive one in the grade two John maybe here at del mar. She's likes it here at del mar as well. Obviously, a little tougher competition on Saturday than what she's seen in those local graded stakes. For sure, yeah. That's what we're talking about. We're talking about the world championships and there are some really super talented horses coming over from Europe and I mean..

We'll be joined by a couple of trainers who are going to have horses in the breeders cup. Richard bolt is going to send out ginobili and going to Vegas on Saturday here at delmar. Dick Mandela, who wants one four breeders cup races in a day back in 2003 the Hall of Famer going to join us. He's got a one horse on the also eligibles tomorrow, but he's got several horses entered for Saturday as well. Net toffe the general manager has spent three farm will be joining us a little bit later this morning spendthrift well represented by runners both tomorrow and Saturday in the breeders cup. Conrad bandor off the vice president of Denali stud going to talk about their program actually went through their program, ended up selling for over a $1 million as a yearling and owner George orient going to join us live this morning. He owns the very good turf Philly warlike goddess who looks like a major player, especially from the U.S. contingent as they get ready for that filly in Meritor. By the way, max player, just jogging by us. He's another horse who could benefit in the breeders cup classic. If horses like nicks go and Medina Spirit and maybe art collector all set a blazing early pace max player really is coming to his own for Steve asthma, and he's another one that could make some make some light ground in that race. My sister Nat now going bias for trainer Chad Brown as well. We're going to take a break when we come back. We'll be joined by international racing aficionado and friend of the program. Bob neston, to talk about some of the European invaders that we're going to see over the next two days here at the breeders cup. "We had beautiful weather yesterday a blue skies and some nice fluffy clouds to assembly Bob Ross. You do. And we've just completed a renovation break here at delmar, the tractors went by. They've cleared and now there are several horses coming back onto the racetrack, including this year's Kentucky Derby winner, Medina Spirit, who is making his way down past around the Clubhouse turn to get to us on the main track. As time goes by, a baffert entrant in this year's breeders cup distaff just passing in front of us. We're going to see a lot of the European runners coming out. We've saw a lot of the Euros already this morning in the previous session. In fact, a lot of the Charlie appleby runners were out. We saw master of the seas. He looked great breezing on the turf, Walton street, albar, the space blues, who's the morning line favorite for this year's breeders cup mile. Went screaming by on the turf, ya beer was also out cachet out this morning vertiginous for Brian mien was also out. Measles sand was out so while a lot of the Euros to buy legend rather to Bowie legend, also out. But there are going to be more to come. We're going to get another wave of the Euros. Mostly doing some maintenance on the main track as they get ready. In addition, hot rod Charlie has made his way out onto the main track, he actually backtracked. He's right in front of us now. Making the turn heading back the correct direction. All the serious work is out of the way for these runners. They're really just stretching their legs. And getting in their final feel good mornings before their big days mala fat who's going to be a major player in the distaff also right in front of us for Todd Fletcher. Yeah. She's been looking great every morning, beautiful Philly and hot rod Charlie's been galloping like a freight train every day, so we expect more of the same from both of those and this is the nervous time for the trainers they don't want anything to happen to their horses, of course, in their just thankful when everybody gets home safe and looking good. And thankfully, we haven't had any news since yesterday, by the way, Chris Davis has American sanctuary parading out in front of us right now. He'll be one of the longer shots in the field in the breeders cup juvenal this year. There goes Medina Spirit and a nice, easy gallop past the finish line. And he looked really good yesterday is really not doing a whole lot today other than just getting a little stretch of the legs. But Medina Spirit going to be a major player in this year's breeders cup classic. I have a question for you, Jude. All right. And it's a tough question. With all that's happened surrounding Medina Spirit this year. He is technically The Kentucky Derby winner. He's innocent until proven guilty. If he were to win the breeders cup classic, what are the chances that the eclipse voters would vote him horse of the year? That's a very good question because, you know, eclipse voting, even though it's done by people in the know it's still a popularity contest as our most votes. So I don't know for sure if the bulk of the voters would vote for him. I mean, they probably should, if he does that, then he probably is the horse of the year. But, you know, people have different feelings about what's gone on this year. With the trainer and, you know, how everything's panned out. So I would say it's about 50 50 that he could be horse of the year. We'll see what happens. Yeah, it's a tough call, because usually it would be a slam dunk. If you win The Kentucky Derby and when the breeders cup classic, that's it, hands down. But this is a different year. And obviously there's a lot of popularity involved. A horse that's going to have a major say and whether not Medina Spirit or hot rod Charlie wins the breeders club classic is essential quality. He just came trotting bias, the opposite direction and he'll probably make the turn and get to stretch his legs. We saw some of the Euro contingent backtracking cispa hand who I know was one that you're very interested in has made good appearances. And you know what? The weather has been conducive to where all of the horses like it. We really have not seen horses that look like they're not enjoying it out here this week at del mar. Yeah, I was explaining that to somebody yesterday that was asking me about del March as I trained here for 20 years and you know, I told them horses just seemed to perk up when they come down here. I don't know if it's being close to the ocean, the negative ions in the air, even the people have a sense of well-being when they come to delmar. So it's easy for the horses to feel good and look good and train good. So it's a place that really seems to rejuvenate horses, especially the older horses, they really like it down here, so I'm happy to be a dumbar. Folks horse racing's world championships are here. You can bet the breeders cup risk free with TV G that's right new TV G players can get started with a risk free bet up to $300. That means you'll get up to $300.

"Let's switch back to Friday for a minute. Time to party. Very consistent. What's your impressions? Yeah, he's a cool little horse. We bought him for not a lot of money at OBS. I don't know 50 70. I can't remember. And he he tries really hard. He's got a lot of ability and we ran a good second to one timer who I think is the second or third choice in the race and we were kind of gaining on him. And he won broke his maiden here at del mar in the summer. So I think it's a very tough race and everything is going to have to fall into place, especially from the ten hole. We're going to have to get the right trip and everything is going to have to fall fall the right way. But I think he certainly belongs in the race and he's doing very well. Speaking with trainer Pete Miller, who sends out 5 runners in this year's breeders cup, before we let you go, you mentioned that flavian Pratt is the regular writer of mo for. So he also was going to ride time to party. When you have somebody like Pratt who's written so much for you and is written these horses many times, are you still game planning or do you trust that he knows exactly where these horses need to be? A little bit about, you know, I definitely trust that he knows what to do and where to be because he's extremely well prepared and reads the racing form very well. But at the same time, I don't want to just leave that to chance. So I definitely let him know what I see. And after that, you could just kind of say how the race looks to. How it looks to come up, but once the gates open, it's really on the jocks to work it work it out from there. So we'll just game plan a little bit. Who's the speed? Where we're likely to be placed. And then I'll leave it up to him. We really appreciate you taking the time this morning to join us not only do you have the breeders cup coming up in just a few days, but of course opening day at del mar and I know that's always a big day in the Miller household and we wish you the best not only this weekend, but throughout the delmar meat and in the next year, thanks for joining us on the breeders cup countdown. It's my pleasure guys and have a great breeder's cup. All right, you two, my friend, Peter Miller, trainer of several breeders cup runners this year in the world championships. He's got time to party going into juvenile sprint on Friday. Then four runners on Saturday highlighted by CZ rocket and the sprint and mo Forza in the mile four is probably going to be one of the favorites in that race. I think he's the second choice on the morning line to the Euro space blues who's been ultra impressive across the pond and but mo for's has a little bit of a home court advantage, Jude. He loves it here at del mar and when he's good. He's very good. And del mar is one of those courses where if you have an affinity for it, it really helps. Now he's just got to get the right trip. You know, you do everything you can in the morning with these horses and you get them well prepared and game plan with the riders and then you just have to hope things fall into place. Yeah. Well, that's it. Racing luck. It's number one. Yeah, it's a very common term. It's more important than it's amazing how we take for granted how hard it is to get the horses the trips that they need to have to have the best chance of winning. Yeah, well, we were talking with sheree. Everything matters. I mean, it just never ends. You have to check every box, and then you have to get lucky. Not only do you have to be well prepared, but you have to get lucky. That's why it's so hard. That's why our game is so great because you can't just do the work and get paid for it. You have to get lucky. And let's face it, these are big fields, not everyone's going to get the trip that they're hoping for. In these races, there's going to be a lot of sad faces. I was mentioned one time about a trip that I had in the turf race that seemed to me and Charlie with EM said. Son. You're going to have a lot of bad trips on the turf. Don't worry about it. Just go have dinner and come out the next morning. And he was right. I mean, I learned it was such a great lesson for me to not let it affect your day. Because it's going to happen all the time. "Saddle. No. Let it go. You know chuck he'll never let it go. Well, why don't we talk to chuck about the very first job was for my father on the racetrack as a standard Brett and I was two years old. So now he's like an old fart. I don't believe it or not, and this is not about when chuck was in college. He was a tall, skinny, athletic guy. He does not. He's still taught. I'm so far. He's still a guy. The other parts of kind of as kind of with all of us, they've gone different direction as we've gotten older. He's a great guy. Yeah. He's and he has nothing but good things to say and he wouldn't text that to me if he wasn't there. What did that dorm room look like? I can tell you that I put a one iron through the wall after the trailblazers did not cover when Kevin Duckworth and Clyde drexel couldn't hit free throws in the late game one. I figured out that. Yeah. No, no, not at all. Should we really appreciate you taking the time and point to Robbie's look great these last few mornings seen here on in the race track. Hope she gets out of the gate well on Friday. And you never know. I mean, she's only raced twice. There's no reason she can't continue to improve and she really wasn't that far behind echo Zulu last time out. No, and it looks on paper. She is very ratable. She's very easy to ride both in the mornings and in the races. So if she happens to get out of the gate a step slow, there's gonna be plenty of on paper that appears to be plenty of pace for her to run into. Yeah, we race sets up good for her. I like her. I think she's got a good chance. Torabi, postposition number four in the breeders cup juvenile Philly's this Friday here at del mar goes as the 7th race on the Friday card trainer should read, sending out to Robbie, it's her first breeders cup starter on her own as a trainer and she's winning races and bunches clicking at about a 20% clip overall. "By the way, she dares she dares the devil now walking out in front of us, one of the Brad Cox contingent, and she's going to be a major player in the distal Saturday of a neck bode and looks like she's happy to be here in these cooler conditions at del mar, which you don't usually see in the summertime, but for this fall meet, we get them. Jeff, I know something that's near and dear to your heart as the thoroughbred aftercare alliance. Tell us what's going on. What's your affiliation with them? So I'm on the board, the vice president of the TAA and we're excited to once again be the official aftercare partner of the breeders cup. So you're going to see the thoroughbred after Caroline's prominently throughout the breeders cup with a few races that were part involved with sponsoring and presenting. And you'll see booth stationed here during the course of the breeders cup where folks can come and talk to people about what the thoroughbred after Carol Lyons does. And at the end of the day, it's all about looking after the welfare of these beautiful thoroughbred racehorses. And so, you know, it's become the responsibility of all stakeholders in the industry, recognizing that when horses are done on the racetrack, they need a safe, viable follow on career. And so with the TAA does, is it handles all of the accreditation? So making sure that these facilities that we have throughout the country can take these horses and put them in a safe haven, both for just retirement and or retraining repurposing these horses. And then raising funds in an equitable fashion so that you can distribute to these facilities and help them make sure that they can do things the right way to look after these sources. So this is the racing showcase event. And so for the TAA to be the partner making all of those aware, it's a great opportunity. Is there a pledge deal with breeders capital where people could donate part of the purse or that kind of thing? Absolutely. You know, as I mentioned, you know, it's both accreditation and raising funds. So you can certainly visit the thoroughbred after a Cara alliance website and also get information here on track and at any time that we've had a participants running in the breeders cup that have generously pledged portions of their earnings to the TAA, which of course then gets distributed out to these organizations. So it's a great opportunity to take advantage of that. Is this something where the TAA goes out to owners and trainers and continually provides information reminder let's face it, not all of these horses are going to go on to be stallions or brood mares. Where you're going to owners or there is information very easily available to owners and trainers out there. They know that, hey, when this $20,000 climbers is done racing, we have a spot for. Well, the good news is racetracks have become great partners of the whole issue of after care. And so like, for instance, here in California, you have karma, who is one of the bigger organizations. Helping us afford that opportunity for after care and working with various farms and facilities that do this. So yes, it's all about communication and connecting the dots for people to make sure that they know that there's an avenue. There's a resource out there available to them so that they can position place horses. And so we're constantly trying to get the word out and making folks aware with the TAA sort of sitting as an umbrella organization to help with all of that facilitating that process across the board. Go ahead. It's not easy to do that. I mean, there's a lot of people involved and you have to make sure that everybody's on the same page as far as what we're going to do with this horse. The horse can do as far as athletically if somebody wants to use it for a show horse or whatever somebody wants to use a horse for a lawn ornament. I mean, I used to find spots for my old horses all the time before this was even popular. Sure. 40 years ago. I had a horse that was park ranger horse at Yosemite. Weddings and bar mitzvahs. I had a lady wanna do a lawn ornament horse, like she didn't know anything about horses, but she went to a class to learn how to take care of them, and a lawn ornament horse. Wait. What? I trained a horse mask for Vic Tayback called hanto, right? He won here at del mar. And he pulled the suspensory and he wasn't going to be able to be used as a writing horse. But he was a beautiful chestnut horse, big, strong horse. And she was looking for a horse to put in her front yard. She had bought a little farm at somewhere. So hanto had this great life. He had this lady that fed him carrots and took him outside for walks and stuff. Until found a beautiful home. He found a beautiful home, right? But you're right about that, dude. You know, not all horses come off the race track the same way. Some have sound issues, some have various, whatever issues. And so there are numerous facilities. And some places, their primary job or objective is they just they're a sanctuary for a horse that maybe can't necessarily be retrained or be used for a jumping horse or a show horse. So it does require a lot of money and it requires a lot of due diligence on the part of making sure that we could talk for hours about how much went into accrediting and making sure that there's a very detailed thorough process in checklist of requirements that go into becoming an accredited facility. And so the TAA oversees all of that process. And we have some wonderful organizations north of 80 throughout the country that are helping with all of this. And we're constantly looking for more facilities and again, at the end of the day, all of us who enjoy and are involved with the wonderful word of horse racing. It's our responsibility because it is in the end all about the racehorse. Jeff really appreciate you taking the time this morning, not only did we get to talk about snapper Sinclair and the thoroughbred aftercare alliance and talk about Kentucky down, you got to hear the word the name Vic Tayback. If you stick around for the next segment, we'll talk about Linda Lavin and Polly holiday. And the rest of the cast of Alice. What about manics? Thanks for joining us and really best of luck Saturday in the dirt mile. I appreciate it guys. Thanks so much. Jeff bloom from bloom racing stable, of course, so a successfully campaigned the great Philly midnight busu up and over the last few years sends out snapper Sinclair this Saturday in the breeders cup dirt and mile here at the del mar thoroughbred club. We're going to take a break. When we come back, we'll be joined by trainer shari Devo. She's going to send out her first breeders cup runner in her career as a trainer. "Question that's been asked to ask you as a broadcaster who has been to pretty much every major events in the world. And you've anchorage a loss of mainstream on terrestrial television in america but also you've covered pretty much every cheltenham festival in your career. What was it like would know crowd. Well we had had a year. I suppose of getting used to that crowd and even some pretty big events but it was right up there as very strange indeed because i think the restrictions of tightened here in the last couple of months before or they get loosened again restrictions tighter for children than perhaps they'd ever seen it at any major fixture at certain types it than they were at the breeders cup ties than it looked in in the middle east and an in australia so it was really odd him because cheltenham more than any other event is so contingent on on the crowds and provide atmosphere. It really was a an odd not experienced but by midway through the first after noon. I'd almost forgotten at one point. The crowd that i mean if you will if you're broke cussing racing. Cd audience as distinct from it audience. Perhaps you could say that. The crowd isn't as isn't as important. Because you're not going to be putting quite as much of that into the so Yeah bye-bye halfway through day one. My mind had been taken off it. But then there were moments that punctuated the week. Where you were. You reminded of quite stock again but still the the quality of this boat was outstanding when they ride the record books. They don't want to write the asterisk. That was crowd so it didn't seem to take the gloss off too much for henry bra. Gb buck and certainly an operational. Absolutely not i suppose. The top performance came day one and the champion hurdle the uni bet champion hurdle before the sponsors comes running after me with an ax honeysuckle and rachel block. More get back to back. Cheltenham festival wins another brilliant performance from henry de bromhead at cheltenham would last year's form kind of holding up sharjah. The runner up last year was second again. And the winner of last year's race epa ton with our new jockey. Aidan coleman finishing third. Nick what was your overall impression of of this year's champion your reaction as i watched was. I'm pretty sure it was is. The director came to you and said nick iran. I'm pretty sure you use went. Wow that's that kind of summed it up for all of us. I probably got a bit carried away in all honesty. But we do. Occasionally we do occasionally get a bit carried away and i. It was a completely genuine emotion. I wasn't trying to compensate dirty. Was i genuinely was blown away by so i tried to work out. Why subsequently i made some cloud landed comments that would probably verging toward hyperbole. And i think it's because of the way she finished her race off the way the the way in which she rounded the final almost on rails honeysuckle jumped the loss and then scampered up the running. And i left the impression of a performance of of of of otter total dominance on. I was staggered. By how well. She finished off the race now. Subsequent section now. The ray suggests that the reason for that was that they'd slowed the pace down. Because gordon was being a head banger. In the middle of the race they. The pace of the race had slackened significantly and really at turned into a test of speed and she was able to win like she was because as she was in grateful be. She's very very good. See she's got more than people thought she had. Indeed she was tactically. Well positioned biracial blackmore. But the the image the impression of scampering away from shahjahan episodes in a really good time the hill really good finishing split Just was just made me feel good and before you start talking about ratings and allowances where it sits in the pantheon ultime champion other. When is it just made me feel good. And i didn't think at that point they would be many. If any performance during the week to to eclipse i in terms of dominance and quality. How wrong i was

Over the two I'm so Steve Sherman, and Frank Alvarado. To one second choice on the morning line consternation. Irish Bred Filly Patty, gallagher and eclipse thoroughbreds. Your mind five favorite on the morning line. And she should be the favorite and this should be a much softer spot for her than what she saw in her last start. She broke her maiden impressively del Mar on the turf to starts back coming from well out of it to win going away despite a slow start jumped up to face winters in the surfer girl last time out not only face the undefeated Madonna but face Tetra donal and pizazz. All three of those phillies are scheduled to run in the Breeder's cup juvenile fillies turf next Friday. Consternation was only five to one against those good phillies last time out unfortunately, she didn't she didn't run late she was five one she ran or like she was about twenty five to one. She got beat about nine lengths that day but this is a softer spot in the Pike, the Pike Place Dancer she's drawn well down along the inside I don't think the races got tons of speed, but there is a little speed in the race and I think consternation should be able to make up some ground against this field I like her at nine to five Johnny one of the king's open Pretty much the king now in northern. I like that move by. The connections war. Will.

"I'm guessing you've heard of the Kentucky Derby Abi to this race that's run usually early in May we haven't yet talked about the Kentucky Derby this year but that's about to change as we're finally starting to get into rounds of prep races that will winnow the field down to twenty for the run for the roses on May the second so to help us do that. We bring in voice. We haven't heard on this show for too long and and that's Jonathan Listener who writes for horse racing nation. Welcome back Jonathan. So before we get into a few specific horses. WHO's impressed you the most so far on the triple triple crown trail? I think Dennis moment to start the list. Dentists moment strikes to lead right at the top of the stretch at Delta. Two lanes lead our three lately for the final final furlong. Dennis this moment with five length lead scabbard with clear sailing up the second but Dennis moment kicks off the road at the Kentucky Derby in a big way. He barely moved a muscle. That we we have it. RESTRAINING NATION DOT COM user generated Kentucky Derby contender rankings and despite his trouble that experience career dentist moment has not left that number. One spot. You talking about a grade three winner. Who was going to be the favourite the Breeders Cup Juvenile L. Stumbles out of the gate? You know he could be undefeated if you look back at his debut he lost his jockey was really no fault zone so he has the two losses and between between them. He's sandwich to really really nice. Looking victories including his debut at Ellis Park they won by like nineteen and a quarter lengths. I think it was so there's a lot of potential there and he's one that I feel like every once in a while you hear about a derby prospect before they make their debut and then we kind of latch onto them I wanna say it was probably roadster roadster last year because Baffert said he could be his next justify American Farrow and obviously it didn't work out there but they'll Romans has talked up Dennis's moment since before he he ran a race. And so we're we're kind of going to the same thing here As far as a couple of other runners eight rings also out of the Breeder's cup juvenile. He's a really interesting. One didn't really run his race. You know the last time we saw him but I think the way he's going to be handled this season. You have to keep paying attention trained by Bob Baffert. He's he's GonNa run him in the rebel at Oaklawn. And then the Arkansas Derby potentially there as well and then another one that you know kind of on the fence about that you know. He's got a lot of towns. Is Max `field scratched from the Breeders Cup Juvenile. He had a little bit of an issue. There it turns out we found out a couple of weeks after that that he had had a minor surgery for a bone chip. But he's not even in serious training now. Well he's he's he's apparently galloping No works yet and so I think they'll have to do the to A. Ah kind of schedule where you hope to get race out of them and then you have a more serious race which I would expect to be something like the blue grass stakes if everything works out well and he's undeniable town. I'm and I think he's GonNa win a major race somewhere down the road. I don't know if it's going to be the Kentucky Derby and then the other one I feel like it's gotten all the conversation is independence hall at at Independence Hall now makes his move. Independence Hall is the leader getting away to lead by two prints of Pharaohs has moved up on the outside. It's Bourbon Bay Independence All L. linked and a half as they come for the quarto prints of Pharaohs on the outside Bourbon Bay. It is independence hall with the lead and now a furlong to the finish Jose Ortiz showing them the whip now goes to work on independence hall. WHO has a three likely? Just a sixteen to the finish at. It's the constitution called Independence Hall. Tailwind Jerome by four Knights won the national stakes by open links came back and won the jerome. It was a little more workmanlike. But he's going to go. Oh into the new year here as another one of the favorites and if I could talk about one more that has sort of attracted my attention a little bit. It's this ancient warrior horse. I don't know what his path is going to look like. He's Jerry Hall android or for trainee. And if you follow racing at all the last year or so. You'll know that. He's SORTA become embattled. Dan from the strike. Group's tracks out in California But I of all these horses that have won maiden races and we'll be going to the stakes. I want to watch that one closely. He's moved him over to Oakland Park. We should see him in an allowance. Race coming up at the beginning of February and then from then on he should be on the Derby trail else. That's one that that I definitely want to see more of well. You mentioned Bob Baffert. And it's tough to talk about the Kentucky Derby Trail Without Bob Baffert and he has a lot more than the one you mentioned. There's thousand words who ran a big race in the low sal futurity. I'm a Roger Federer Fan but you have to give it up for an doll who is also ambassador trainee. Who looked really really good? So I mean you know Bob Baffert certainly knows how to get horses to the Derby mean how many of these prospects aspects of pan out. I see a path for all of them. To be honest. You know and we also have mentioned authentic. It's still authentic coming to the three the eight ball. He's been in control throughout leads by a length and a half to uncaptured hero. It's all authentic as they pass the quarter pole and turned for home authentic and complete Khaliq Command turning it on. He's in front by sex with a furlong left to go. Zimba Warrior and Assault Coast as authentic is putting on a show. Here is a little green gene shifting about but long gone authentic strolls home in the sham. He'll win by about eight lakes green. It's Grafton stretch and just kept going there and another extremely impressive Horse Nidal I. I wonder about him a little bit. You know we've only seen him one time on Sunday and that six and a half for a long race he he looks like Dortmund Ortmann if you go back to two thousand fifteen big horse. That wasn't extremely fast out of the gate but once he got into stride he went straight to the pace and never really let up there. Yeah it's not not really the kind of horse you want to win the Derby but I think you could get to the Derby and then thousand words certainly has every reason to move forward his last race. I think they had probably a little bit the too much blinker on him and he ended up going head to head with that no door that ran in the Breeders Cup juvenile second. I think it's SORTA legitimize both of those horses that they ran so closely in the future. But I think thousand words is probably at least a couple of lengths better then a no door. He just probably didn't see him in the stretch until Flavian Kinda guided him out and it's like Oh with the blinker. The horse realized he had something to run against a win on. So I guess when you talk about horses that I'm looking at in the new year. Thousand Words is definitely on that shortlist list to Jonathan Listener of racing. Nation is with us here on the gate. We've talked a little bit about the Breeders Cup juvenile which was a topsy turvy race. You had three big horses that we've mentioned into all had their problems that day. We haven't talked about the horse. Who Wanted Storm the court for trainer Peter Martin and that would be a very popular win in the racing business? As you know what chance do you give storm the court to back up what he did in the juvenile. Oh probably not much not a lot of black type in the family. I'm not sure if there's any black type from Stanley I'd agree wise. And then you know he was obviously the beneficiary of other horses stumbles in that race You Know He. He goes gate to wire was not really pressed a whole lot and at the same time. I think they took the blinker. They put their blinkers on. I'm sorry and I have not a fan of lemon. That put blinkers was on a horse at that point in their career. I feel like you should be taken them off so that they can relax. Prepare to go a little bit longer. I think that race and the circumstances just all all came together for storm the court and allowed him to upset that race. It's forty five to one. Whatever he ended up that day I'm sort of in agreement? I think with everybody else that the the the better Derby Derby prospect was no door and second in that race going forward. I want to mention because these races have just happened. Enforceable label for Mark Cassie. Who is not missed? A beat after a son norm went out on his own. He had been his father's chief assistant and enforceable. Really good winning the Lecomte. But we haven't seen too many Lecompte winners. Go on to run well in the Kentucky Derby. Where do you put me as a tap it colt out of a dixie union in marriage? The breeding is good. I put him a really high on my list. As far as forces will be in the Derby but I would not put him on my list of forces that I think can win the Derby and I say that because of his running style you know if we go back to almost every year that the point system has been effect and obviously gets rid of those pure your sprinters. It's the horses that can put themselves near the front at the beginning of the race and keep that pace up and never be caught by closers that tend to win the Derby enforceable enforceable is one of those closers. It's inevitable that he's GONNA run into traffic problem you know. I almost hope he sneaks into the Derby and everybody overlooks. Because I feel like he's the kind of horse could come into the super factor. That's probably going to be a really common line of thought. Though I mean I'm thinking a few months out but the soup perfect You know in the era of a favorites winning the Derby is as remain because it's pretty high minimum of really profitable wager for people nonetheless so yeah for me. He's a super effective player. I I I think he's GonNa be okay as the distance is longer obviously is a full brother Mohammed and a half years day. There's a lot there in the pedigree just really impressive on paper and it was good to see him run as well as he did you know He. He broke his maiden at nine furlongs last summer at Saratoga and it looks like okay. Here's a real two year old and I you know he ran into you. Go into a little bit shorter and the breeder security at keeneland and Max field because two things came together and got him beat but he's definitely better horse than he showed that day and it was good to see him back it up the trump

The Horse Racing Radio Network Podcast
Mark Casse Interview - January 18, 2020
"When you talk about the three year olds this weekend all eyes on the grade three Lecomte stakes at the fairgrounds and mark? CASSIE is going to be a very very busy man. He has horses entered there there. He has horses entered at Gulfstream Park. And as you might expect he's prominent in so many major stakes races mark with me now here on the horse racing radio network mark appreciate the visit in the time my friend thank you. Thanks for having me now. It just got to win a few. Yeah now you just got to get things rolling. I mean you're pretty. Hey good at that though sometimes so far this year but it's really it's early what's okay so for a trainer when you go through a little stretch like this. You said it's slow. You know things will pick up eventually. But what do you. How do you keep the faith? How do you keep the same approach? Approach everything well. You just know that it's worked and so You know you just you just keep doing the same thing you've always it's done So much of it is is just sometimes you go through cycles and things work right sometimes. I can look at it condition. Asian book a lot of times. And tell you whether we're going to how we're going to do. Sometimes you know you have races that fit your horses better than others and But by the you know you just continue David Care on. I've talked about this many times and that is you just keep doing doing What you've been doing we We won five breeders cups and two classics. And so I think we we I think we we. We know what we're doing so we just keep doing the same thing. Yeah more than twenty eight hundred victories in North America for trainer Mark. CASSIE so. Yeah I think you know what you're doing it hard mark not to start like tweaking. Funny Mike though I will tell you. This is many racist as we went all those. When you start? Start when you do go through a little spell where you're not winning as much as you'd like you know you're like he's still like oh I want to win. It never changes. It doesn't matter whether for me whether it's a five thousand dollar claiming race or five hundred thousand dollars claiming race and I I don't like losing nobody does You know so There you go. Well hopefully things start picking up with the Lecomte Lecomte stakes later today and all the stakes races at Gulfstream tubes. You're well represented there but let's let's focus on the three year olds in the lacob and this is a race that you want for the first time. Last last year with war of will we know it worked out okay for him he went out and won the preakness later in the season. And some people will say maybe he should have won the Kentucky Derby. But that's neither here nor there here at this point So tell me about the two horses you have this year. You have Lynn's map and then you have enforceable and I would say Lens Map. Probably the more highly regarded at least in terms of the the morning line. Well well we just scratched him. Oh okay well there you go. And and that was kind of the plan when he drew the fourteen hall. It's nearly nearly impossible to win anywhere from the fourteen whole But New Orleans is pretty tough to win from the fourteen hole So when that happened when he drew outside their yesterday we Entered him in the Smarty Jones. And he's going to run next Friday at Oakland in the Smarty Jones. That works out okay. It doesn't cost you a whole lot of time right. No no not at all and The the Smarty Jones I think he's number eight of nine much much more favorable Post and Yeah he's a very nice horse he's he's done done well so far We're excited to have him and you know now he. He's he's taken one step. He took another step and now the big except the big step that says. Can you run with the better. Three year olds in North America and We're going to have to wait a week to find out. Is there something mark that you look for for in your newly turn. Three year olds at this point in the season that you say okay they they have that it factor they have what it takes to be a factor moving down the road to the Kentucky Derby. Oh yeah I I mean I think you can look at horses and say you know can again this one go forward a lot of times. It's pedigree a lot of times. It's the and brains So it takes a lot it takes a lot and and more than anything it takes a while back but Definitely by this. It's time you know we're looking at is that we think could You know go on I would say that A year ago today I still had big question backs questions about Sir Winston I wasn't sure how good he was as yet and But WAR WILL I. I was very confident at this time. Last year. I think I can remember doing an interview review Down for Thinks it's name right now but down in New Orleans and he he said What do you think of your chances today? And I said I'd be surprised if he gets beat. And I don't say that very often but I had just the utmost confidence of war in war will well We're not we're not in the same. You know we are not on the same same page right now as we were a year ago so we have enforceable end. Today who enforceable is one of the horses he's gotTa humongous pedigree pool brother Demo Heynen also half brother another really good horse. Can't can't escape me right now. But he's a horse. We liked a lot but he is just been extremely slow to come around His last race was much better than it looks on paper and in David's extremely happy with the way he's trained up to this race so You know we're expecting big things out out of in today I if we don't see him today then he's just not I don't think he's good enough so We're we're looking for big things out of him today. Are there a couple of other three year olds in the Cassie Barn. That people should keep an eye on as we moved down this route short on my three year old colts right now. Um and one that I would tell you that we work game this morning. I'm in Miami today and we work in this morning we bought or recently broke his maiden name's untitled Broke his maiden at cough stream ran a ninety eight buyer One by ten. I'm excited about at him pretty soon this morning out of the gate and I just like so many things about him. He's a big tall lanky cold with a great mind and and Just lucky you know that we were able to get him in and now we need. We need to have some luck with him. He's going to Swail We have two you other cults that are in running allowance races today Strike Appeal and race driver. They're running that fairgrounds right now I would call them the B. Team Hopefully plea. After today we could call on them they will say earlier. You mentioned the name of the Belmont winner from last year Sir Winston. I saw that he had a breeze was yesterday at Acworth. Desert Right which day before the day before a guy for yeah? What's what's going on with him extremely well? We were very happy with the The only issue he pulled the shoe off during the work and then he stepped on it and He's been a little tender on and we're currently Soaking his foot and and insane I would say fifty fifty. I sent him up to run him in Chazal I think it's called and Next weekend right now I'd say we're fifty fifty two run. We're GONNA see. See Our foot response to that and If not we'll wait for the next one. My long term explains for him is is trying to get him to do by which I'm happy. He grew up a lot during his time off. He's a big handsome horse now. And and Training well so expect big things out of in We'll see what happens here with his foot. Just been on the phone with the Cheney Baig Egg who is my main assistant there knows no Sir Winston probably better in any way and he helped preparing for the Belmont and So we're we're seeing. He's he's soaking his foot as we speak what's going on with the preakness winner. IS HE GONNA race in two thousand twenty. Yes eastern well. He watched him train Yesterday morning before I drove down to Miami scrape. He's grown up. Some right now are feeling Is that. He's a great one winner on the dirt. We're going to try to make him a grade. One winner this year on the grass so that that's where we'll be focusing Probably the maybe around March or April April.

In The Gate
Who's the Champ?
"Bobby? A halt of the New York hot list is our first guest of two thousand twenty here on the gate now. The horse that won the Breeders Cup dirt bile beating Omaha beach is spun to run and he will be facing Omaha beach again in the Pegasus World Cup. The first major race of two thousand thousand twenty but maximum security will not be there and code of honor will not be there. Maximum security is waiting for Saudi Arabia. The world's richest race the Saudi Cup in February. It's very tempting to make this a political discussion. I'll only do it to the extent of saying with what's going on in the Middle East right now. How do you think that is going to impact whether trainers bring their horses over for the Saudi Cup and or the Dubai World Cup in March or maybe they take a look at that Pegasus again and say maybe we ought to just stay here that that's a very hard question to answer? Ah It's hard to understand how people feel I will say this. I am confident in saying that the people especially in Dubai. We're ruler of the country behind that I think they're going to bend over backwards to provide security and take care of the park I I would hope the same thing's going to happen in Saudi Arabia race and then just not become a outer tech or anyone but that is a question question that you just can't answer. I think it's very hard. It's an individual decision to a Lotta funny. I understand when people go play a lot of people who have no dog in the adviser to come up with answers of morally questions. And what they're gonNA do when not to you. Gary West was all set to run his voice Independence when it was nine nine billion dollar I. He was happy to take the fourbillion winter. Share the person. Just go to the Middle East but when you cut the first out of nowhere to three billion winter I'll get one point five billion something like that and you have just wants to you know once in a lifetime could easily win ten million dollars and probably turn around that month and win a twelve million dollar right I. It's hard because this is an expensive sport and as much as these people arrested of of money that goes into this so You understand it as of now. I haven't heard anyone saying they're going to change their mind about going. I'm sure people are a little bit nervous but I mean let's be frank. I think anytime you over. There is probably reason to be nervous. So it's just an individual decision and I wouldn't chastize anyone. Whatever they they decide because it feels like them? That's their call. It's not it. I make my own decision on my life. You make your own decision on your own life and I think that's the way it goes. Oh by the way. I think you're under selling the Saudi Cup. I believe the purses twenty million dollars. Well it's ten million the whip you get ten billion but it's it's one that that that's what I'm saying he gary West is looking at it. I will get sent. Don't get out of the home and billion dollars if I say in that term so you can when you look at it now. You basically have to win the Pakistan that in line with at one point I for share of the first compares to the ten million that he will win. Take home for winning the Saudi Cup where he will be the favorite and a one term mounting great definitely. I Dunno betting Saudi Arabia. But I know American pools. He's GonNa behavior and you running for stabbing tons of money. That's a pretty compelling nonetheless in the Pegasus World Cup you do have. Some horses is with some credentials including higher power. The Pacific Classic winner. We mentioned Omaha Beach. roadster for Bob Baffert is aiming toward the Pegasus. And you will be there. How do you see this first? Major race of the year shaping up that force right now in training maximum very doubt after that case to be made then Omaha Aubenas bunch of wrong especially violent eight might be the second and third bout with McKinsey right there with them so when you get fun to run and Omaha Beach I think he got a pretty darn good race. I mean it's interesting possibilities. Are the horses doing nominated at the box He's done. I'm very well. This is of course. A lot of people east might have remembered with Chad Brown Barrasso. And you know he was good you know. He got coming up. In the minor spot that West to John Adler Verona's ray thing all of a sudden. He's winning all these steaks and eat it. You can't east to Churchill even lost or any blocks. We'll see if he's going to be the ones that they decided to send into the race. It'd be a good one back wizar- people know this story. That fifteen thousand dollars who ran against maximum security and the world's most famous Amos. Sixteen Thousand Dollars Eight lamer and it'll be in there. I think it'll be a big competitive fourth. It doesn't I think have the superstar. One runner arrogate powerpoint chrome Omaha beaches in that category But it's interesting. It's good to get back into talking about racing and Bobby Hall. Nobody better to do it with so. Thank you so much barry. Thank you always chat that with you so when we come back here on the gate. The site of the world's first million dollar horse race is short on dollars and short on time time to secure them. Welcome back to win the gate in July of two two thousand. Nearly twenty years ago Churchill. Downs home of the Kentucky Derby purchased Arlington Park in Chicago for nearly seventy one million dollars. Arlington's owner Dick Duchossois had closed the track in one thousand nine hundred ninety eight and nine hundred ninety nine saying that he could not compete with other gambling businesses. The opened again in May may of two thousand presumably with the knowledge that a sale was coming at the time. Churchill was in something of an arms race against the stronach group. When it came to buying up tracts the idea was to create networks of tracks for simulcasting and cross promotion of races and Events in nineteen ninety nine Churchill bought calder race course in Miami and Hollywood Park in California and then bought fairgrounds in New Orleans in two thousand and four? This was meant to counter the STRANA group which began its buying spree in nineteen ninety eight with Santa Anita then they added Gulfstream Park in Florida. Both major Maryland tracks Laurel and PIMLICO as well as golden gate fields and Portland Meadows and Oregon stronach versus Churchill. Wasn't exactly the Cold War. But the battle lines had been drawn it it seemed that Churchill was the first to blink Churchill dumped Hollywood park like a hot potato in two thousand five just six years after buying it. Churchill said at the time that California has forsaken racing and its needs reports came from fairgrounds in two thousand thirteen that the turf course was too dangerous juris to race and that the track had been poorly maintained ever since the churchill purchase at the same time Churchill was trying any maneuvering possible to get out of its obligation obligation to operate racing at calder. Eventually the STRANA coned Gulfstream Park worked out a lease agreement to run the calder meet in October and November this year. Two Thousand Twenty is the final year of Churchill's obligation to lease the meat after which it may convert the track into a shipping logistics center. Or something like that.

Races of the Year: True Valour Emerges Victorious in City of Hope Mile
"Better way to start art than with a horse blanket. Finish the kind you see so often on the grass this mile trip on the Senate Anita Lawn and early. Trainer Richard Baltas on Next Shares' Surprise Win
"Start with next shares before we talk talk about the fun story with Oscar Dominguez but next year's Boy The betting public. They're they're very demanding ending. And I I guess right yeah zinc. I actually had people telling me that they thought the Horse is done. You know and I'm like well I wouldn't be running on the done so You know he does like a little bit of you know. We've got rain that we and he does like thank the term for the little given it and he doesn't like it when it's super hard. You knew it was really hard during the Breeders Cup and you know we're taking a shot there but when he broke out the gate Alaska said he just like he just didn't handle it. He said he was stinging. Just you know from the Turpin so hard so he just kinda got him around there and He came back to work. Really good on the turf and had to good works on the turf and I actually was like stuck with a writer our 'cause Franken worked. Giovanni Franko worked on Chirping. He couldn't get off the D'Amato ours and then they've L. Devia works a monograph and he loved them and just immigrate right through in the real so well and he won he won with really with some authority. And that's the part that I I think was was most impressive. Just looking hadn't won since January And that goes back to the San Gabriel. And you're the you know this is the you're the second you're the second winner from the weekend. That mentioned how hard the turf was up north versus down there and I'm trying to think it was. It might have been Michael was wasn't might've been talked Michael McCarthy. I talked to house talk to Cassie. So yeah well you know. We don't get any rain and it's sunny in hot all the time. And it's like they have air raid it and you have to put water on it and They really gotta stay after the trip so you you know the now. There's nothing better than Mother Nature for anything. I don't I believe so it's true. I heard from a few jockeys I mean. You know it's I think on on the East Coast guys come out here. They write a lot of grass races. Obviously over there so I can a- they'll tell you wow it's really hard today

How a 'Flipped Palate' Affects a Racing Horse
"Nick Zito sent out Kentucky. Derby runner-up is box in the Belmont stakes. After having won the Florida Derby icebox went off as the three to one favorite in the test of the champion. But he finished ninth after the race. Zito said that icebox had flipped his Palette which caused his dull finish. So what does that mean. Take the tip of your tongue and tickle the back of your mouth make sure due to keep that soft tissue back. They're soft don't stiff in your throat. Okay that soft tissue. You're feeling with your tongue. Is Your soft oft pallet with race. Horses that soft palate can flip up and sit. On top of the EPA Gladys the EPA gladys is the little flap of skin skin in the back of your throat. That makes sure you don't swallow food down your windpipe or breathe into your stomach instead of your lungs. So when the soft palate sits it's on that EPA gladys the airway is partially obstructed. And the Horse isn't getting all the fuel it needs now. Typically the cure for a flipped pallet. Hallett is a minor surgical procedure to lift the Palette. So it doesn't flip up. It sounds relatively simple and in theory the horse should return to form thereafter rafter. But in the case of icebox after that throat surgery he finished off the board in the Haskell travers and the Monmouth Cup in fact icebox never won another race and finished in the top three in one allowance race over the next year and a half his final start. Art was an eleventh in the two thousand Eleven Breeders Cup classic. So here's the question. Is there a little more to it when a horse flips. It's pallet. It seems that that some researchers at Cornell University have been investigating that very question and one of those investigators. Dr Norm Ducharme joins us here on the gate with some surprising results. It's alternate and one of those investigators. Dr Jonathan Chatham joins us here on the gate with some surprising results. Alternate Ed and one of those investigators. Dr Martin Bucer. Coney joins US here on the gate with some surprising results. Your colleagues and you have spent a great deal of time researching researching what causes the soft palate to be displaced. What have you found so we found that in the earlier about historically shortly? We used to think that I was always the pallets fault that something was wrong with the pallid itself and that's led to a lot of treatment targeting the pallet but we found that it's the position of the larynx voice box that stabilizes the upper airway horses that exercise. This is and this is Pacific to race horses or horses that do more than just trotting any horse. Galloping race of the our study was focus on them as horses and we found that one specific muscle and they could be others as well. Just one that there's more studies on fatigues a few seconds before the Horse Displaces Palate is upper airway become loose quote unquote. And then the polit spices. The Racehorse In the second career often can become a sport horse and being the same greed so but if you relate into other functions that complained and many of the sport anymore says on a horse that this thing is talent is the normal noise. He's so the displacement of palate causes an obstruction to the airflow but unless the horse needs maximum airflow flow capacity the obstruction does not interfere or is unlikely to interfere with the performance of the Horse. But the horse the second thing that a pal how displacement does in the vast majority of horses as it creates an abnormal up arrest story noise often referred to as snoring or gurgling really. It's the same structure that people that snore vibration of the palate and horses is that displays the Palette of vibration of Palate as well and have normal noise affects the perception of judge. This writer in in the sports world. Can you please explain what the common surgical procedure is. How does the Pallet get lifted up? It's the airflow during excellence. And that lifts the Palette and causing obstruction during excavation and that's opposed to most other obstruction in the worst is anyway which happens during installation so during acceleration wants to the boys boxes below the Palette. The Palette is like Cassandra or spinnaker in an airflow get caught and the airflow and and lifts it up and vibrates just like you and I. We were snoring. The that's probably the proper metaphor accepting happens while racing or galloping horses now if the issue is muscle fatigue in the soft palate is that indicative negative of General Muscle Fatigue in the Horse in other words is the horse just destined not to run that fast no there. It's and then muscle fatigue in the muscles that controlled the position of voice box. We don't know that the soft palate actually fatigues south excellent. Maybe a an innocent bystander in that area were too soft pilots natural strength and fatigue May may not be able to prevent displacement. When it's an in nonsense illogical position meaning it sticking stuck on the air flow in the middle of the airflow but to come back to the fatigue? So so we've and this paper here that we're referring discovering muscles. Fatigue is is the likely cause of displacement and most forces right forces that is but they sit in their first. I'll answer question to through faith. The first question is is the muscle the horse just fatigue and this is just one of many muscles that are fatigue and and the answer is it's no. This seems to be specific to the muscle that controls the upper airways not the entire worse. There's different type above muscle their arrest story muscle which are meant to function all the time. And there's muscle us When the horses are galloping the skeletal muscle and the training of horses is focused on training them to be able to compete athletically? Let it quickly really focusing on their cardiovascular fitness as well as their skeletal muscle fitness. But we're not sure that the upper for airway current training at that are optimized for the upper airways voices and they might not be optimized optimizing for this group of forces that are predisposed to it because they have the wrong muscle fiber

Three Wins in 4 Years Is a Record
"James Good Morning. Good Morning Steve. Thanks for having me on hope your weekend. Well it did. It did and I thought I saved I wrote I write down as many selections. It's always tough for Breeders Cup because then the paper gets all gets a little a little sloppy and sure enough here. I'm looking now and yeah I do have it. Actually there we go there we go home. You were a Vino guy and and bricks and mortar and and then spun to run so yeah your share of winners Too Key around I thought was on higher power. Though I didn't have you know I got you written down for Dino. I took higher power stirred Flavian Pratt. What's up on them? I'll tell you play the Heidi wrote one favorite Donna Duluth below she. The brewers Juke juvenile given up Phillies runner-up but he had a win. had four seconds and fourth earners. I thought that was a really a great performance by him and You know he has the Kentucky Derby win on his resume junkies like have that really just A good showcase for an upcoming star in our rank agreed and and I tweeted on Sunday. I've discussed this a couple of times this week. His record is stunning. And he's got people would say. Oh He's only got three wins. WHOA WHOA three wins? Thirty eight mounts and this is only his fourth year as fourth year riding his sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen at-bats. Ah But another fourteen in the money finishes and then a handful of fourths and fifths I mean the percentage is frightening. I mean considering considering the level of competition really outstanding and he gives he gives every virtually every horse. If he's got horse to work with he gives them a chance. It's definitely and you know I mean I think Santa Anita and hosted the Breeders Cup eight times previously and and and he was writing a lot of california-based debased horses and one of my takeaways was definitely that this this year's Breeders Cup with completely unlike any out in California before I mean just uh-huh it just. It really started on Friday where the first four winners had all raised it Aqueduct Belmont and by the end of it I'm you know I'm looking at it it it. If you'd looked at the charts that Saturday at at Saratoga you wouldn't be surprised to see our ad or ts in four races Castellano and Rosario win into each and then Jose or ts Manny Frank Ricardo Santana All winner races well and Joe Bravo and that's what happened. They took twelve to fourteen races and and all twelve of those horses that race in New York this year now very strong on that on that front and ah not to say that Just had the conversation with Nick. Lock about the euro's and there were there were solid efforts and solid board hits in addition to Iridescence win but The you know the and there were solid performances from west coast sources to bell. Athena's Bella Fina. At under under certain circumstances dances might have won. The united almost looked like a winner hundred yards from the wire There were there were plenty of of solid performances from every region In some cases. Look at Vino. Vino having been into California. I think counselor a lot. You fold in folding would ask. Did you know getting there early with Matali Actually Navarro to I mean in Navarro got there early with a chance. A Lot A lot of times the a Lotta Times. The juvenile turf sprang can be like locally based sources can do all your top two in that race were both based in California with Peter Miller and you the one hundred and thirty five bucks. That's right that's right. That's right his second his second in the race in three years. I'm just looking at the list to spun to run from Philadelphia. So you get you get a a regional kind of a B.. Track player are sharing sharing holiday for new. New York's thunder run actually ran in a mate. Nice at act backer. And the winner but I mean the parks and mom Sharing base at Far Hills at far hell and Maryland bred. That's a couple of times Toga. Yeah yeah everybody everybody got their Lixin. Actually when you when you kind of go through this And I'll just say I I came away. I mean granted. I thought the four big stars coming into enforces with the serious horsey. Our aspirations Bricks Mourner Corner Sister Charlie and Matola two of the four one I think it really does come down horse a year two bricks and mortar and Matola Louis. But I'm giving the edge bricks mortar. I thought it was fantastic campaign. He had been a mile or previously. Before you know getting hurt and undergoing that surgery and I like the fact that Brad Cox I mean Brown ran him. You know he never ran he. Random and six different courses six different states. You went from Florida to Louisiana to Kentucky Hockey to New York to Illinois and the California To win a mile and a half for the first time in his career so to me. He's a deserving of the year well and and driving home the point about the mile and a half for people that because they always beat all the same types and didn't stretch himself then no he did and and you know the there was even people that were incredulous about him going the mile and a half so you know that that score extra points Without a doubt yeah definitely and you know to me One of the Mike Smith that made the point After a couple Oh. He ran second on a pair of privet favorites midnight zoo in Omaha Beach. And he's made the point that he'd right like those races back because it was hard to 'cause over that track track but to me it was more so that those horses were caned on the rail going into the first turn. Blue Prize was tenth early. You know tolley Holy Arosa could be five or six minutes off the pace. But they're jocks really at. That did a great job keeping them in the clear and I really thought midnight. These to you You know continue just to be in traffic through into the far turn. And when she got out she finished great as a case I mean they the great job on on TV and other highlighting it where I think of a blueprint. It's got the jump on her because of the trip the greed and it and it it also. It should be noted for people that are you know insisting that the track nobody could close well. WHOA that's not true? which is simply me? Just look at the chart for the distaff. What do you mean nobody could close at that? Just you know Omaha. Beach closed closed In in as well came from often and others whitmore made up. I mean it wasn't going to get to the winners and the the exact pair But he closed Idiom really had down below chicken that juvenile fillies and that's when the track was absolutely at its worst deepest pissed most impossible right based on based on the figure and in fact. It's funny because yesterday. Paul Matisse was talking about how difficult Friday was to make figures and then it was echoed by Jerry Brown on His On his experts board board. Somebody brought up. Paul's conversation and Jerry also echoed that the way the track changed from the you know the middle part of the day to by the time even the the juvenile boys ran so typically you would if the juvenile of the males run more than two seconds faster than the phillies. You'll get say their way better than the nose Philly but I do think it was. It was a track getting off faster later. And I. I'm I'm not down on British idiom or Donna Boise at all even though that right they came home. I think they should be still terrific runners. And you know it's it's hard to gauge coming out of the juvenile being real adobe guy Exactly what that means going forward so into court definitely Nice Horse Court Vision You know hasn't isn't had much success at Stud but he's bread You know fire. Classic types with that pedigree of his female family has a lot of stamina influences. It just doesn't have much class. You won't find any stakes winners really in that immediate female family well your final the final takeaways. My final take away so I just you know I you know I was. I thought you know it was a tragic end McGowan crew. I mean it was just a Really hurt to see that happy at the very end After a thirteen of the Breeders Cup races have that happened in the ashtray and and racing. Definitely I think has some issues and concerns going forward. the people in the industry maybe do a better job messaging but I still remain. Optimistic is the horserace fan about the future and I was. I came away like in the Breeders Cup. I thought there was some great performances and Looking for work once again the next year very good well. We're looking forward to the action this weekend give us some thoughts about Churchill had terrific card even today yesterday and Wednesday were good and of course the Commonwealth on Saturday the feature the Grade Three Mile and a sixteenth. The three year olds on the grass. It is an absolute war. Some thoughts about what's been going on while everybody was paying attention to Breeders Cup and and we got to look forward to this weekend. Yeah they had three stakes last week and In the MEA mischief flatmate go for the sale and and look good. She loves Churchill Downs Multiple Grade. One winner there in the Divine Queen got off to bad start. Art Never Fire in the In Saturday stakes chill Lewke and Sally's Kirwin breakers Swin She tried the Indiana Oaks folks earlier. This year didn't run good for Dale Romans. But she had one or last two allowance races by like about fifteen lenz combined and ran a rug. Good Rice debris greet Brian Cox's

Dick Powell Discuss Melbourne Cup
"And you know Haskins brought up Melbourne Cup and boy you I wanNA talk about a firestorm. We thought the Derby had an aftermath. The this Melbourne Cups had an aftermath. Well uh-huh they disqualified point Aboard Master reality. He had the lead As he's I've been doing all year he's been riding aggressively and trying to use all the skills to get home. He looked like he was going to do it. And then balanced declare was on the inside Pencil Barron on the outside of fighting duck then tightened up paradiso. who was making this phenomenal for Wayne Lorden and that one little bit of a chain reaction with the winner Alan declare but it was hard to tell on the head on? When did it happen the stretch like they were right on the wires? So did it happen to strike. Before strike after SORTA stewards took quite a while to go over it and it turned out to be way. The inquiry work turned out to be Aidan. O'Brien's rider claiming against Joseph Brian's right doc. So they took Joseph them and they move up to third they put they put Joseph back the fourth. And then me off mine. WHO's Donald? But he wound up winning Craig Williams aboard the Toy. Your own son of declaration of war vow the choir He was highly touted into and all the commentary commentary before the rate big slice. I wound up betting prince of Aaron. He went off at sixteen to one. was in a winning position every step at one point. It looks like he's GonNa win and in fact at the Y.. Michael Walker stands hands up. biking won the raised. Any like what's to his last. Maybe not I've been. I've been a crutch back now. So he winds up winning running third moved moved up to second page eighteen dollars. The place one of his twenty. Something exactly came back for thirty with to watch go horses but as as Paul said earlier today you can make a chance for fourteen of them and then in the stretch of if you watch the race again and again but Chattanooga's Colt made the glass judge flying. That's making tons of ground surprise. That'd be Jut. Mine was at that Cross County residents winter hex software. Don't that but still he was coming on. William Bill just tremendous the Spanish on the wire and They took my keys on the the mind. veg suspensions actually out it's always it's always entertaining and one of those special days and I was in such a blur. You know coming out of the weekend and then traveling link so i. I was behind Catching up to it and all the and all the hubbub and speaking of Catching up and everything deck. Let's get your right before we talk Hong Kong and there is plenty there. There's actually a lot of news That I've seen from around the world Horses is that are starting to announce their intention to run on champions On the Champions Card but before we do that you're breeders cup takes so they would kind of disappointing my handicap and was just not what it should be. I was on with you when we're cavalry was on and I talked about tracking your father. Santa Neither Steve with that so that was no surprise the way the track played away from me. I just didn't have the right voices. I seven degrees with about if you tell me do tries. It's IT'S GONNA run back good in the first half. I gotTA figure Dunbar Road. It's GonNa be light in and she wasn't so that that cost and then I you know I I I knew track was going to be the way it was. I was right about that. And I know code honor the relatively small horse that Kinda gets over the popped track down too far and sure comes up the way. They're even like that goes on her and don't see was he. He didn't look before the race. Though I can't I can't blame it all on the track because in the post sprayed he was very antsy he was very not wash now going into the game but he was started warm. And that's to me. That's unlike him so even with the track he didn't look at going in and then obviously than handle the track so so it wasn't it wasn't a they want a lot of high five point Friday and Saturday and other than that originally this great I kind of had the opinion and Europeans Warren to strongest companion. Especially when magical make the trip turned out to be probably true but the one the one I really screwed up on sale sponsored that's That's that's when you go back and look how about applesauce episodes come up and I've been so so so I was just two more days of back getting it done okay. Well and that just shows you that you don't as I say repeatedly and I write that the introduction to keep people I don't want people to get completely flummoxed by by Breeders Cup and that they they you know they didn't do well and I. Can't you know you do well this weekend. delmar opens tomorrow and the Churchill. Fields Terrific You don't it's two days. It seems like they're the most important on the calendar when it comes to wagering opportunities but the money you make in the Melbourne Cup is just as just as valuable as the money you. You didn't make on Breeders Cup weekend and it's why it was one of those things where I kind of recognized that nothing seems to be working so I a lot of money Friday and Saturday. The thing is like when you're playing blackjack and you get really good cards. And then he keeps feeding him. So you're betting more than shirt because you're getting really good parts. Oh you get bad cards you just get that. Take your losses so I kinda problem everything down on Saturday. So wasn't you know I didn't that anywhere near the funding that I take him out. Taken out of my bank account too but the rights coming up and I look forward to the multiple foul and I got lucky because I could have just as easily been shoving second exactly. And that's what the that's what makes that's what makes it so much fun so maddening reddening or or so exciting. It's just it's gotta run for you That that's always the bottom line and on a day day on days like we had Friday and Saturday there were as as Paul. Matisse laid out brilliantly today there are things that are going to conspire against you. And you can't can't. You can't completely alter your game plan or abandoned your your approach. You can adjust maybe a B and tinker and throw in some savers and whatnot. But if it's not going to be your you know your day or your two days. Ah Ah but it doesn't reflect doesn't reflect on what lies ahead and and there's still a lot of good racing November's of terrific racing month that we got all the the action of Churchill leading up to the Clark And the stars of tomorrow to Ecuador off off to a tremendous start. I mean if they can if they can maintain this before people break camp and start the head to Florida and whatnot. It's going to be a very good Ecuador meet because the fields are competitive racing is interesting so that's often and del Mar With the first two cards sat and that looks like give. There's always a lot of good turf racing at del Mar so often. Go off we go. How about to spend the last couple of minutes? The Hong Kong updates about four minutes shopping rich sharpton ran on Sunday We now have a true Sunday. We have a high fifty races favorites at one. Twenty six percent the average field sizes twelve and one and the average win price is twenty dollars and fifty cents so prices again value. You and Twenty Six hundred seventy is pretty thoughtful considering twelve twelve though horses surveys Shopping on fat set Sunday very fast track is good too terminate running raid this time so when you look back at those races understand that they worked on pretty quick. Nothing really stood out on on. That took yesterday at Happy Valley They Rennes nine. Nine on the paraffin and interesting things Steve Race sex with the fifty six to one shot that one and you WanNa talk about how different things are from talk to them and I keep saying we want to be like the rest of the world that we used to be so the horse that won training by Begnaud young he was called into the stewards to try to explain this big former. There's a whole explanation the nation and and the chart comments and China's that easy stated that this was the second. Start off the way off. As I started at some mucous in his trachea they they trained him and congre which is inland about three hours minded China Trade Centre pollution and everything else and Hong Kong. Long time that's awesome but here stewards are paying attention not just You know I've done horses that I have run poorly a horse. Who when often you John? Why did he run so well? And that's that's you know that's called transparency and integrity.

Steve Haskin Discuss What Is True Horseracing
"Listen I don't WanNa put a damper on things or anything but you know to me. This was not was not true. Horse racing at least as I know it And I I will say that the grass races were were all good. I have no problem with that but after after that a lot of things that just get ugly for me you know. I don't WanNa see horses and jockeys coming back on on a track labelled fast looking like they just been rolling in the sandbox I realized being zealous in their attempt to make detract safe which is understandable expandable. But in my opinion they did. They did at the expense of the racing I mean who's who says you have to make a track excessively really deep and tiring to make it safe. I mean they're they're faster race tracks. I go back look at the aqueduct over the years and they're all in in highly even even the old old Santa Anita track was always safe. Saratoga I mean these are basically safe racetracks. You know so. So what's going on now. I can understand but sometimes you can overdo something and you know. And as much as as I liked Vino Rosso in the classic and you know one all kinds of bets on them To tell you the truth I can never ever watch that race again for abuse reasons to search too much 'cause actually liked Mongolian groom ally and and actually thought at one point in the race that he looked like he was gonna Finish in the money but you know all the repercussions of that. which most I think most of it is just nonsensical? In fact I just read somewhere that you know the vet came that came out. The trainer came out and said it was perfectly sound. You know and understand these things happen. There's no there's absolutely no blame here at all. Just the fact that it happened. That hurts just like it's hurt from all the other incidents in fatal fatal incidents in the past. And you know I go back I was there for roughing it. I was there for go for one. That was there for prairie by you. I mean there for a lot of witnesses and every time you go through a little bit out of you and you know I I I just sort of get attached the Mongolian. Groom not only from a betting standpoint but I just like the connections and and the and the the horrible irony of it is the fact that you know right after the race. He stated emphatically that. They're not going that they don't want to put up two hundred thousand dollars and and then you figured some offers would come in to to get a piece of it and put up. Put up the the supplementary fee and they said you know now talking to date decided to change their mind put up the money and and and then this happened so I know how absolutely devastated everybody. Everybody was there So but you know that's not even what I'm talking about when I'm talking about About the debris come you know I. I just don't want to see the best distance. Sources in the country stagger home the last half a mile and fifty two seconds. That's not resource time time I you can make the track slower and slower and slower but it was weird because the the formula was the same old data. We're going faster early legitimate. The sprint races were run fast but I mean come home the last year from fifty two. I mean that's ridiculous and you know it wasn't that the horses were bad. It was at the race crack. You know that. They poured truckloads of sand on the day before the Breeders Cup. You know and speaking of the classic Nick and that Racetrack. I certainly don't want to see the V to bed. Closes in the country. Never even pick up their feet and get beat fifteen lengths and seventeen links like they're running through quicksand. And I had agreed with Doug mcgann. He's original plan to skip the Breeders Cup and was totally against it when they change their mind. I knew the odds were stacked against them. Being three year olds shipping West I quoted that statistic that they were over twenty two in the past. I and especially with the track favoring speed at that time and I had no idea that it would get even worse for him when he got there and I don't think I don't think shook did either either. I think he was Kinda surprised how how track was playing how deep it was and how come from behind horses were were just spinning their wheels. We also hallway so you don't WanNa see that you know you just don't want to see any kind of track bias when you've got the championships at stake. I mean it was a lot at stake. Code of honor but you know so. Now he's got to End His Campaign very ingloriously. But that's just the beginning You know you look at Look at the beach I mean I I I don't WanNa see arguably the most exciting and talked about horse in the the entire Breeders Cup. Who's been on just off the pace going six furlongs to a mile in an ace in every one of his starts eight and a half lengths back at the half mile? Call all of the dirt mile and still five lengths back at the poll. You know. He's he's still runs one of the best races of his life despite the track and he can't even get close to you know I'm not taking anything away from spun to run but he can't even get close to that horse. You know who was beaten nine links in the Haskell who I I was at parks when he beat gray magician by heading the smarty Jones he ran well in the Pennsylvania Derby but he's still fit and then suddenly turned into a superstar overnight. Overnight gets a one ten buyer and some small stakes at parks despite never having run a triple digit Byron his life so I mean Karama beach I mean even to get close to that horse and to come from that far out of it and where the heck was cold front you know in twelve career starts. He's I've been on the lead or within a link to the lead in every in every start in the met mile. He's on the leading forty four and one for the half but in this race he's running V v six and a half lengths off the lead. I mean I don't get that. Where was he so you want to run? As soon as he went out there you know and opened up to three lengths. She said nobody's nobody's going to catch the source on this racetrack. And like I said I thought I thought the Omaha Beach Randy terrific race to get second and even staying with the dirt mile. Yeah I don't WanNa see the second and third choices you look improbable and Mr Money. who were both being very highly touted touted By their trainers and many of the experts. And who would training brilliant leaguge swimming out there never picking their feet up then got beat nine of ten ten and three quarter lengths. You know now you get to midnight. Be Sue I don't WanNa see the best filling in the country unable to make up an inch aground. In the last days the mile with a final creates run in under forty seconds. You know what in the world we should be doing running ace at the top of the stretch You you know I mean it was a was it. A bad ride was just bad. Racing Locke was was big track. I mean take your pick but affiliates not supposed to be that far back and and if you watch the race you could see blue price who you know. Give her credit you know. She wants to come from off the pace but he had a made her she had to make a move move back stretch and it had lead ready at the eighth pole you know and then you know finally you look at Friday. I don't WanNA see your race with into the strongest W prospect. Seen in years. Completely fall apart. You have a forty five to one shot at twenty eight to one shot and thirty nine to one shot come from first third and fourth to finish one two three and the three to two shot running second stops to a walk getting beat over twelve lengths. You you know and then you know meanwhile before five shot and erase stumbles at the start and finish dead last so to me. That race was a total bust. In fact to tell you the truth by the way if somebody had told me a week before the Breeders Cup that we were GonNa see the Derby favourite less weekend and it would not be a it would not be any of the three favorites more. Would it be scabbard. Nor anybody else in the juvenile but it would be the winner of the national stakes the next day by far and away the most impressive two year old. Maybe most impressive overseeing the team your weekend and then you go to the other dirt race. On on Friday juvenile fillies you know we have to brilliant phillies coming off. A dominating wins literally staggering home rubber-legged in in an agonizing slow twenty seven three and seven and two for the last sixteenth of a mile. I didn't raise sources. Could run that slow so to to me. You know this is just one. I'M GONNA forget very quickly but this would have forgotten about it by now. If I didn't have to talk about out of here I listen. I'm sure I'm sure a lot of other people feel are being too harsh. But what can I do. It's just the way I feel. You know maybe it's just I've got too many Committee races behind me.
