Traffic's been declining over the last couple years I think a big part of it is people pushing back against pretty aggressive industry price increases Michael Halen of Bloomberg Intelligence says some people still eat out but they order fewer extras. People are managing their checks to kind of offset some of that higher price that they're incurring at the restaurant. Restaurants are looking to lure customers back now with promotions. We've seen a lot of different things. We've seen discounts. We've seen bundled meals and quick service. We've seen all -you -can -eat meal offers in casual dining so some of the promotional activity has been pretty aggressive. Staffing has been a recent bright spot for restaurants. "You ladies went about advancing the the storm center for basketball performance well i can tell you you know climate kind of pledge arenas rebuild was not funded by the city although i'm sure you know they there will be some tax breaks there for uh set for you know ticket taxes but the storm facility is completely privately funded 100 um and the way we funded it was because uh the owners put in a bunch of capital we got a loan from boeing employees credit union who's one of our long -standing corporate partners and it's really the first kind of unique loan that they've ever done and then we went out and raised a little capital from investors new to fund this and you know uh working a little estate in real i know you're always supposed to be looking at property for its highest and best use and one of the ways that we've thought about this facility is this is number one our practice facility for our players so they have a home and they can be there whenever they need to to get you know time on the court strength and conditioning rehab recovery whatever they need it's also the place where our entire staff is going to work but no elite level athlete is going to work 24 24 7 on the courts and we have a huge commitment to the city of seattle our greater community to do everything we can to generate if you will access to opportunity equitable access to opportunity and for us that means how do we get to use this amazing facility to expand access to basketball so we're developing a whole youth sports program you know camps and clinics that will also be held at the facility and we will fund that through corporate partnerships so the idea is to really make sure the facility is used first and foremost by our players then by the community it will not be a you know a community center it will be managed by the storm but really making sure that the entire city benefits from it. well Guys obviously this season's a little tough because you lost some key players you lost Sue Bird who retired from last season and then Breanna Stewart went over to New York back earlier this year and it's kind of tough Jenny when you lose some key players like that to keep the dominance going. Business life sports you really better ready be to deal with disappointment you know the universe doesn't really care about plans and intentions and for anyone who has big dreams you know the road to excellence really no matter what what endeavor you're talking about includes stops at not measuring up right you just can't get to great without some without some tough spots along the road and you know that's where that's where what we're about as a franchise and I think both from and care I about this and Dawn is you've got to keep learning and you've got to keep growing it's just that simple and I don't really view that we have to bounce back we just have to keep moving forward you know incorporating the lessons we learn keeping our eyes open looking for what we've missed what we could do differently adjusting to changes in our environment on court off court and of course which is sometimes the hardest thing when you're down but this this is why it's so great to be part of a team is believing in the power creativity and execution prowess of the people you're on the road with so yeah you know it's true we we haven't had the best year on the court but it's been a really fun year watching rookies watching our coach get to develop a new group of people and honestly no one likes to lose but in our first 15 years we won three championships so 20 percent you know how many franchises can say that so sometimes you also just you be can't greedy you'll have to be realistic yeah appreciate what you have got lisa um i'm curious as we talk about the valuations of women's sports teams and franchises they've all been going up up up and of course the storm is example number one do you worry sometimes that we might be seeing bubble -like valuations sports of franchises in women's sports as well with all the money that's coming in whether it's from private equity whether it's from the

How would you begin to describe page. Bekker's for someone who's unfamiliar with what she's been up to it yukon Well pablo the word coming out of stores was that page. Bekker's was going to be the next coming of breanna stewart or diana taurasi right. So that's high praise no pressure. Yeah none at all. She was a number one. Overall recruit in the twenty twenty class and her rival in college. Basketball was highly anticipated list. Three beckham's with the rebound put first seconds of her client career where we were literally salivating and watching her highlights from high school wondering if she would be the player to finally get connecticut back to winning championships since keep in mind. They lost in the final. Four in the last three tournaments. Pretty much ever. Since breanna stewart left well pays bekker's is not only a great player. She has six hundred forty nine thousand instagram followers. More uconn legend sue bird by the way when she became the first player in uconn history with three straight thirty point gains. We knew something special was happening and she really hasn't disappointed. I mean her perfect field. Go performance the last five minutes versus number one south carolina that was quite the epic performance bekker's from around the screen and set the stage for what we've been seeing from page so game and her style of play. How would you characterize it. What's made her so dominant as just a freshman making a debut. This impressive at five eleven paid really makes the game easier for everyone else on the court well except her opponents of course.

Breanna Stewart calls out NCAA for lack of respect to women's game during March Madness
"But first a brief rant and listen. I could go on a lot longer than I'm going to keep it. I'm going to keep it quick. But brianna Stewart called out the NC double A for their lack of respect for the women's game. During March madness, she pointed out that the March madness handle tweeted out Ron Swanson gift and said when you find out there are no March madness games until Thursday mad face hashtag Sweet Sixteen there were of course, women's games. There were eight women's games on the twenty fifth. And even though the March madness handle says it is for the men's tournament and forces women to go with. The NC double A WB handle most people don't know that. And March madness is gender neutral. It is it is not about the men's tournament trademark to the men's tournament. It actually started with high school hoops. And so when even that handle if they want to say, we're bummed the men's games aren't playing go. Check out the women, that's fine. But the idea of constantly being the default. So that when John Moran has the first triple double since dream on green, and no one mentioned in the men's tournament. Because Sabrina UNESCO is has eighteen triple doubles this year and just had one in the tournament last year in multiple women have recently, again, it's not about people not understanding. It's about giving context. So that you can give props words do when people say that you NBC upsetting UVA is the first time internment history will no it's not because the Harvard women did it in the nineties. It's not that hard to say in men's tournament history. It's not that hard to add men's and how do I know? No that because women always have to do it. We always have to add women's to everything. And I think when you have schools even schools where the women's program is more successful than the men's and they always had to add the W or the women's to their handles to their social handles. They always have to add the modifier. So people know they're talking about them. It's insulting. It's insulting to say. Lady. Huskies lady giants it's insulting especially when it's something. That's a male thing. Like stallions lady stallions that makes no sense. That sounds like an unfortunate accident for the horse. But you know, what I'm saying? And again, people push back so hard on this. When I tweet about it. They say, oh, you knew what they meant. Well, why is it so difficult to add a modifier so that you say men's tournament women's tournament? Because then you're at least respecting that there is another tournament going on. And that those women are working just as hard putting in just as much time. Whether or not you want to watch them whether or not it's your priority. Give them the respect that they're that they've earned and to me we see this all the time with Little League World series. Perfect example, are they the best at what they do of anybody in the universe know, why are we interested because we tell people the stakes and we tell people the stories when we do that with women's sports for the Olympics for the World Cup for Serena Williams, when we give people the stakes and the stories people are interested.
