"Try not. I knew it was gonna work out. I knew going to work out. I think it gets emotional. People say it's business but it's not. It's it's personal. I think you know. But i know joe at the end of the day really wanted to resign. Gabe man. i know gave on to stay. And i knew they figure it out. I think at the end of the day. Joe wasn't letting gave leave and i know gabe didn't wanna leave. But i was definitely supportive of gabe staying. That's for sure was very supportive. He's i mean he's one of our favorite players to watch a spectacular and sneaky. Tough to a lot of people that are are are finding out. How much does he make. What's that they're finding out with their face. Yes i'm sure brayden schenn's think twice now but actually when i enjoy in junior som- because you're a chr guys Really as a rookie. Handed the jake muhsin in a kitchen or hussein. Ask him but that was a rookie. Someone's going to run at one of the rangers players. And i might have been his first fight. I know was getting asked about that when the avalanche play toronto next year. And you went right. Muslim was like one of the toughest guys in the. Oh l. at that point. Everyone's like landis guy's gonna get it and he did more than all right man shelled. But how much does he make that line work. You're a rhinoceros. oh delay. you're one of those players in the nhl like it must be a nice feeling like whatever you want to do. You can do and you go and do it. But how much does cog make that line work. He's she's huge. I think just even defensively a lot of times. He'll back i. And i'm i'll played his wing or whatever but he's just such a power forward not just for a line but i mean he's the leader of our team as well he just kind of makes everything tick and You know for meco meco kind of has easier time. When games on the icy does a lot of the dirty work goes the net net presence. He's always get hit with pox and getting cross-checked in fron does a lot of stuff. No one wants to do. They make a lot of that too and gives me a lot of room to kinda you know. Play little higher plan the outside a little bit more and chase down. Pucks outweigh no. You're very high standards for yourself. What did you think after this year like. What did you work on the summer. Like do you ever go back and watch the vegas series or anything like that. No i don't need to as more of a mental thing than actual physical thing. I think for us and for me to we got a little hesitant you know. I think we beat them in game two but they dominate us in the second third And i remember thinking like oh like i remember talking on the plane like in our whole thing is the process like be good in the process. Results will take care of themselves a whole year. That's kind of our thing and it still is in the process. That game is so bad but we still wanna not meco.

"Their players, not just for you know their recent lineup, so we're prepared for for whatever line they throw at us, and, you know, we give our guys a little bit information before the game once we know what it is, and yeah, it doesn't change anything on our and whose planner who's not Why If it's Ryan O'Reilly that's in question obvious or Jordan Bennington. It changes things quite a bit, Maybe not from the preparation standpoint, because it's about system and style of play and all that kind of stuff. But Pins and needles. We're sitting on to see If the blues they're going to be shorthanded due to positive covert tests more than they already are. One thing we know about tonight is that the Blues will resume. Their plans on being extremely physical with the Colorado Avalanche. That they will try to Get some licks in early. They will try to take away time in space. And the Blues may also look to target certain players. I don't mean in a The various way. Necessarily. I just mean You know you go after there's some players you go after, and there's some players that you don't go after in the NHL, Gabriel Landeskog on the avalanches, one player you don't go after. Belmar is another player on the app. So you don't really go after By Jerry Ben are was asked earlier today if he's given any thought to perhaps Adjusting his lines to make that fourth line a little grittier, a little bit tougher, and Jared Bednar doesn't seem to think that's a big issue. I don't think there was anything in that game that we weren't expecting. I thought we handled it well. We played well. We played physical Competed hard and in all the right areas, So if I mean, if we need to make an adjustment to allow our line up at some point, then we'll do it again. We're just kind of evaluating that on the game by game basis, and we'll pick the best line of that we feel gives us the best chance to win. And I think a lot of this stems from Alec's new hook being on the third line with Brandon Saad. Coming back, he goes a third line. Joonas Donskoi is on the second line, and then you have Alex New Hook on the fourth line. Alex. New Hook is not your traditional Fourth line guy. But the line that I look at And look, there's not a lot to once gave her a Landeskog engaged in that fight with Brayden Schenn. There's not much to Pick apart when it comes to the ABS, they pray played pretty well after that. But the second line to me, I'm very interested to see what they do. Markowski. Contrary Donskoy if that is indeed the second line, it was the second line the other night. The Abbe's website released the projected lineup and that is the second line again. Now that is not the official line up. So Jerry Ben are can change some things. We'll see if that comes out over the course of the next three hours. My guess is probably not But it might But if it's Birkoff, ski, Qadri and Donskoy together Certainly those of three players that have been really good for the ABS this year. In Game one. They were all minus one and combined, They took five shots. Nathan MacKinnon himself had six. So as I'm looking at game too, and say, Okay, what? What are the blues going to try to do better? What can they have to do better? I think that second line Is is the one I target. You can't ask for much more from the top line. Gabriel Landeskog has a Gordie Howe hat trick. McKinnon scores two goals ranting and was terrific. So more of the same from them. Uh, the Get the idea of booking up the fourth line by thought the 3rd and 4th line. We're pretty good. The second line think left a little something to be desired. So And we know how big Birkoff ski Qadri and Donskoy have been not just this season but thinking back to the playoffs last year. So We'll see if they can have a better night. Tonight, but The biggest questions here. Are surrounding the ST Louis Blues, in my opinion, and that's normally the case when after you lose a game, right, you're the team that has to make The adjustments. And then once you do then your opponent Don't try to make adjustments to your adjustment. Can the blues stick with the physicality they had in the 1st 10 minutes of Game one. War will gave her Landeskog throw down the gloves and put it into it. Because I did think that The game opened up a little bit after that The Blues weren't checking quite as hard weren't putting on as many hits. They got to get back to that. They got to push through it. In my opinion, you gotta keep going because that's the only way they're gonna beat this team. They're all I mean, they're already without David Peron, and we'll see if he's back by Game three or Game four. But by then it might be too late. You know if they have to take a three a lead They're not giving that up. Whether David Peron comes back or not. Like the blues we saw they didn't generate much of anything. Filled group. Our faces 20 shots. As opposed to Jordan Pennington's nearly 50..

"While bobby's got his back turned in my dad had no idea what was the best part of the story is that bobby never even led him onto believe in anything differently. That's that's what made bobby so special. Was that here was absolute legend. He got down the. I layer out as a scout as an ambassador. He has mister blues hockey right. He believes blue. No-one please deeper blue than bobby player. But you never know it if he didn't know who he was if you just talked to him he's just a person and he had this amazing humility this old school humility about him that he recognized that what he did was simply what he did. It didn't make him who he was who he was something so much deeper than that. It was a great person that loved connecting with people. Whether they knew he was a wasn't in. My dad spent the entire day that day in boston's a beautiful day for game five. Just shooting the breeze. With bobby player in my dad had no idea we was bobby probably loved it because for once he was probably just a normal human being and they had a great conversation and a wonderful memory to this day. And that's that's what i love. Most about bobby was that he had that constant humility about him and just wanted to continue to build connections and build relationships with everyone he encountered and he loved players that played for the right reasons. You know he was. He was cut from a different cloth. These kids who play the game now are and back in the days late sixties and seventies. It didn't make a lot of money. You hope to make the playoffs and go deep so you can drink bottle beer tanveer. That was your motivation right. And that was one of his favorite stories with one of my most beloved stories of bobby. We don't have time to get into that story. No one told the I wouldn't even do it. Justice by tried but that that goes to show you why he played the game. You played it for the love. He played for the guys next to him. He played it for the for the album on the on the front. And not the name of the back and you mentioned people he loved. He loved players. Like alexander steen ryan riley brain shan. Who had a great fight right off the get go. Tonight's game against the minnesota wild against hartman. I texted brayden schenn after the game is a great job warrior. Hell of a tribute right there. And he said five for bobby. Thanks joey i mean that's the kind of spirit and that's the kind of legacy that he will pass on because he loved players just play their hearts out every single night. Like an oscar sundquist. Those guys he he beloved and then you look at jackson who comes in his rookie season after blues. Draft the He gets his stall on the first day and his number five heinous jersey bobby plager- new a kind of player. He was and he knew he was a heart and soul guy and he. Bobby player wants ownership. Went to the and said i want this guy to wear my number number five t deserves it. Because of the way he plays and that's what he loved. He loved people off the ice alot players. Play for the right reasons. Everything about him was just old school deep passionate and connection building relationships to the best visibility he can make a kid chuckle with a kid joke in one corner in two minutes later..

"Time to a lesser skilled player. Taking it away that ice time from higher skill players but understanding how that would work in the end. A blake coleman for instance right at the trade deadline skates well enough. But he's an edgy player. That's they brought him a boat bogosian guy who's career was basically over stayed home but mostly a tough defenceman luke. Schenn right. couldn't play on the kings so to speak everyone will say like and you can go through those types of players but it's the fit barclay goodrow golden so and players that are there nhl players but they the teams that traded them to tampa bay. Certainly were not in the same category as tampa bay. Well beyond that maybe. They had squeezed whatever they could. Get out of those players You know. I look at a guy like blake coleman like. What's he going to do on a devils team. That isn't gonna compete all right. Well let's see if we can get a return out of it barclay goodrow. What's he gonna do. Wanna san jose sharks team. That isn't gonna compete are. Let's get out of it. They got a first round pick. You know it was. You know thirty first overall with sharks. That's the thirty first best prospect in that year's draft. Maybe maybe the best example of and i hear it now and just my opinion but at the time of the trade. First rounder control. I what's it what makes it stanley cup ring. Yeah and it's still being talked about now with the kinks brayden. Schenn wayne simmons let two stanley cups. Whichever way you look at it whichever way to knock on effect yeah i mean. The kings ended up winning two stanley. Cups okay brayden. Schenn keeps going wayne's at the end of his career brain just wanna stanley cup copa. That doesn't matter to me. I would make that deal a million times in a row if you can guarantee me to stanley cups. It's done and it's done again and again and again and that's why i my next question is going to be what. What can the kings learn or take away from the playoffs. And you know even from the winning team i look at the moves over the last little while and you know under under dean lombardi they were swinging for the fences trying to hit that magic combination. And you know what they struck out. That's that's the analogy right. You know they were trying to hit. They wanted me lan lucia to be a part of a playoff run that year. You know they. They made moves that in hindsight okay. Yeah you could scratch your head but you know what if if they paid off look like geniuses right know you to take a chance in this business illegal chuck. I think we both agreed at the time. And i still believe this and i'm going to sell. I'm sure a lot of kings fans are going. Say that.

"I feel like this gives them a little bit of room and if they do get hoffman for let's say three point five to four point five They would just need to wave to their players and setup stein for their tr. So i don't know how much she's looking for. I don't know really how much the blues are looking to do. But the route is certainly there for them. Yeah definitely so. I don't know. I mean i guess i mean the blues. I don't think they look like a really bad team. I'll if you've seen them as league or like look like they're lions and stuff like that they don't look bad but i mean again. Listen to beat them. So that's a put. Like hoffman on that top line. Bring down shed bring down riley. You're not bringing down riley. He can no way all right. So who who every move out to a wing and you bring it somebody else down and then even their bottom six. Isn't that bad with like bows down there. And you're just gonna add to your death at that point bringing him in tarasenko and i'd be more scared. Yeah yeah but i mean he's injured and You know i'm scared of justin falk contract and the brayden schenn contract. I mean six point. Five years are six point. Five million for eight years for brayden schenn and and six point five for seven years for justin falk absolutely insane crew to on defense. Yeah bishen i feel like the blues are gonna be free solid. I mean i don't know you're right. Though about the speed them sonos the canadian sign an older guy. They signed perry to perry. What would you say i said. Fuck corey perry perry's piece of shit all right all right. What are you. What are you say this about fucking dirtiest shit okay. People behind clay border. No no now. He's yeah he should be signed for less than minimum. Okay okay well. I mean sense of things. I feel like this should scare you bro. I feel like dishes scare you. Yes scares me because you take run pederson behind the plane elbow fucking next year. No but i'm gonna say they're over. Group is going to be this season. I mean obviously corey perry way out of his prime like he's not going to be some insane guy. Fifty seven games played last year. Twenty one points. I feel he's easily going round out that bottom fish. Swear them and i don't know are you on. That can us take a look at their lineup. Floating up yeah. I mean like their top pair. Isn't i mean their top line isn't like the greatest line with thomas is to no longer chamber..
