"Guess what, Gary? They're making a grand Turismo movie. I know. I knew about that a long time ago, 'cause it actually came across my desk many years ago when they were first looking to find a writer for it. Did you say not a chance this is stupid? I don't want to do it. I told him that I couldn't find a way in. Really? Yeah. I mean, at the time, I don't know if this is the same thing now, but at the time it was the idea was it was like a, I don't know if it was based on the true story of something. They basically the story was about a bunch of kids who played the game that got to drive the cars for real. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, okay, so let's talk about it. Anyways, barret we have a teaser if you want toss it up. This is another CES reveal or whatever. But I'm gonna read while we put it up brandy Clark at collider writes, a sneak peek of the Gran Turismo movie featuring the first footage of the film arrived this week and it looks to be a lot more than just adrenaline and race cars. Coupled with announcements from Sony's press conference at CES in Las Vegas that the game Gran Turismo 7 would receive a free VR update when the PlayStation VR two headset launches. The sneak peek of the movie has quotes from stars Orlando Bloom, David Harbour, and Archie, medically, about how Gran Turismo is made for theaters and how it features not only cars, but drama and a love story. But how is that possible to make a movie from a game like Gran Turismo? The Gran Turismo game franchise is centered around, you guessed it, cars and racing. It doesn't have a plot or character. So the movie interestingly uses the PlayStation studio franchise by telling the true story of Jan Madden's borough oh, I'm sorry, Martin burrow. Martinborough competed in the Gran Turismo academy competition and being over 90,000 entrance. He was rewarded with a chance to drive for Nissan at the Dubai 24 hour race and continued to win a series of Nissan competitions and become a professional race car driver. Gran Turismo will be the latest in a series of Sony plan video game adaptations. TV shows like Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, the last of us and twisted metal and the video game movie adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima to be directed by Chad. Gran Turismo and Sony look like Gran Turismo Sony likely looked to repeat uncharted's 400 million financial success and continued to break the quote, no movie based on a video game is good curse. So you know what this pissed me off the other day because this came up in the last of us. I think it was a variety. Can the last of us break the video game curse? Should these people not see the fucking Sonic the Hedgehog films? They didn't. Because the curse is fucking done, sonic fucking. That's it. Kids movie, Gary. We don't count those. Oh, right, yeah. Yeah, that's right. I forgot the difference between children and man children, yeah. Big difference. I love the chat's popping off about the love story in Gran Turismo is going to be him falling in love with the car. And this is the thing about it. Where when they announced it and we were like, your answer is, that's okay, whatever. Obviously, it's kind of just a blank slate to use it on cars or whatever. This sounds cool. Like I don't give a shit about racing and I don't care about Gran Turismo as a game, not my jam, just not my thing. But when they showed it, I was like, oh damn, that'd be cool to see this true story based on a true story of this kid playing the game when the competition going to be a real race car driver. All right, that sounds like fun. Yeah, and look, you know, people are going to shit on it just like they do everything when they first hear it, just like they've done other things. Like, this is what I do for a living. I can tell you that you can, you can make something good out of almost anything if you have the right idea. People laughed at when they said, oh, we're going to make a movie about LEGO. But Phil lord and Chris Miller are a genius, isn't it? So it turned out to be a fucking great movie. They found a way in. And if they have found a way in where you give a shit about the characters and it's an interesting story and the driving sequences are exciting. I definitely can see how, again, I have a problem. Just that initial footage, I'm like, can it seems a bit slow? Just like the game, like these cars that seem like they're going very fast. They didn't crash either and I remember that was such a big deal back in the day. And the bar is fucking high, I mean, look at what's out there in terms of like Fast & Furious and other movies. These fucking insane, you know, racing sequences. I don't know if cars going around a track is going to be that exciting. Vin diesel's pulling a fucking bank vault through Mexico City or whatever on the back of a truck. Like I don't know. But there's no reason why it can't be a good movie is my takeaway. I'll tell you what, I went from, I don't give a shit about this to watch this when it comes to on demand. Could be a good one for the fucking fever. My 40 X buddy, Tim gettys, maybe we'll go see it together. Have you been to another one since the Top Gun? Yes, and it wasn't as good. Tim's right, it's only like honestly 40 X is a technology that could and should have just been made for Top Gun bad. They should have just called it Top Gun: Maverick. It's gotta be the right amount of fucking action. I don't know if anyone else here saw it in 40 X, but like Top Gun: Maverick is one of those things where like, it's not a gimmick, like it actually makes the movie fucking better. But then I went to school. I mean the movie's great already too, so. And then I wait to see I heard the avatar 40 X wasn't great. Yesterday, yeah. And then I went to see this. You could say they blew it. Have you seen this other thing that they have? I don't know what you call it, but it's not 40 expert. So I went to see Wakanda forever. And it's like the main movie is on the screen, but then certain scenes they project it out onto the walls as well. Have you seen this? What? It's supposed to make it look immersive, but it actually, it kind of takes you out of the film. It's really distracting. It desperately trying all these gimmicks at the moment to get people back into cinemas. You know, because we spent three years conditioning ourselves just to watch movies at home. And so getting people back is tricky, right? But the way to do that is just with fucking movies like Avatar, like, well shit, like you fucking have to see that on the big screen, right? Here's the thing about it.

"Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percents or more. So you're riding in you start to just write songs for a living. What was the first writer. I won't even. We'll say break that you earned. What was your first break there. Where you go okay. I'm not just now. Treading water. Like i might be able to have some success at this. Yeah I sign of. Hope was a guy named steve. Holy recorded a song. That trevor and i wrote with Our friend matt jenkins and then Really it was watching my friends. Have some success was really what gave you the real hope. Is that because you knew that you could do what they do. While i was doing what they were doing. I mean we were doing it all together. So it was like like shane. For instance he came in and played. i remember. He played the demo for somewhere with you and Kenny yeah yeah and we were just like damn like that's different. Whatever that is is the next step and it we even though we weren't writers on it. We knew that that was going to change the game for all for all of us and even now when we watch kennedy play like we sit there and go we. None of us would be here without that song because he wrote that. Kenny cut it. It changed kenny's career. And because of that me and josh osborne and trevor rosen matt jenkins brandy clark and you know. We're all in that writer circle and we get we get to reap the benefits really of of that exposure. So watching our each other succeed was really what kept us going. We were like it's not like i'm doing it but it's weird doing what about first success for you or a song actually a single like a real life. It's got a chance single. That was Wake wakeup loving. You by craig morgan. So that was the first one i can't remember. I can't remember how high went on the chart if it was taught ten or not but but it was close. Which was you know that's back. Then that's all you want is like you want top twenty and you get that you watch ten. That's it was your first. Are you watching the charts every for sure watching it all the time. I don't watch any more but when you hear that at the beginning the first time you hear it actually cut i like i like that production alarm clock. Actually it really was. Yeah yeah i did. I did that on the demo. I made a little home demo of it with that alarm clock and and they there it is and then everyone who cut it after that a couple artists cut it. Everyone used that alarm clock than just my alarm clock. A couple of cut it. But they didn't put on record keith. Keith anderson cut it. And i think it made a record for him but it wasn't a single. So what's the rule there because eric past lay. Who buddies with he wrote friday. I think friday nights. I'm thinking lady cut record there. He then said well. He didn't use the single. I want to use a single when number one for him for. I wanna be a. Is there a rule that if it doesn't go as single you can still probably cut it somewhere else to. I mean once you know want to is out once somebody cuts it. Anybody can cut so so you can put it out as a single anytime. don't you have to ask for single rights though no only one. I don't think so. No i mean you do that. One time you give you give the license out one time and once you approve it. It's it's very so you're telling me i could cut. I was on a boat. Yeah put out a single and then once it beat you. Guys is the best dreaming song life but we reap the benefits of that so aristotle is good for us all we all in is first number. One song the euro So you do for dirks belly and was that a rocket ship number one or was that a we don't know if he's going to cut it he did cut it. We don't know what's going to be on the record. We're no all of them are like that. I feel like That one was. You know talking about breakthroughs and stuff that as far as writing that song. That was one. That i was sure was something special. Really knew when you wrote it chance. You're keeping these songs. Because old dominion was maybe if we were a band at that point in signed no so even like wake up loving you was are like show closer man like to let craig morgan have. That song was a really tough decision because at that point it started to feel like maybe we were going to. We were so far away from getting signed but it felt like maybe we were going to So it was tough to kind of let that one go say you do wasn't tough for us because we we did play that song at every show and But at that point man you know we're just trying to pay the bills and and we moved here to be songwriters. Anyway that's what we wanted so So it was awesome and and he didn't incredible job. There was a moment where i was going to sing. Background vocals on it but it didn't pan out and And it was just a exhilarating feeling to hear that song and watch that song. Climb to get your first number one amazing this chainsaw from the perry road this one. Yeah was it written as aggressive. It's way more aggressive. Our version is way more aggressive. This one is the light version of it. So my dad actually. My dad actually made a comment. One time about his version is like i can kind of picture you out in the woods with like frozen snot in beard beard-cutting. It's definitely a lot more aggressive version before we get over to the old dominion stuff Exc- from sam hunt is probably in my opinion. His biggest non single song is. It wasn't a single. Everybody knows it. Brian always houses single. I kind of had to be reminded. It wasn't a single sam guy. I like sam away from work. I love sam at work. You know so but love. The song did when he cuts it again. You see if. I'm not mistaken. This was on the pre. Yes i think so. Yeah and sam. Wasn't sam hunt right but did you. When you guys wrote. It was written like. Wow this is different. This is some new territory type stuff. i mean. we knew before everyone knew that it was. You know sam hunt like riding with that guy. You're like damn. This guy is something entirely different. In what means like just his creative mind is is he attacks things at different angles so the things that come out of his mouth. You're like i don't know how you thought of that. But you know even like with making miss me throws out alone like keep slipknot in the strings. Attached like some some obscure thought like that he can make seem very palatable so this riding with him. That was a moment where you knew something big was going to happen so that song. It's funny like he. He over thinks a lot of things and to you know to his credit it works you know but he like most people you sit in the room right and at the end of the day you got the song you can write for weeks and weeks and weeks on the same song with sam. So that's what happened. I never really knew the final version of ecstasy until it came out. Like i knew what i thought it was going to whether other little changes that you heard in it. You're like oh. I don't remember that at all like talking at the end. There's like a whole like kind of down bridge where he's kinda talking and kind of cute and all this stuff up. I didn't remember any of that stuff. But i mean it's amazing. Were you surprised.

This is not going to happen. Iran did this before several months ago, middle of last year, they're asking for almost 50 U. S officials. But what's important to understand here is that the Trump administration has waged this maximum pressure campaign against Iran throughout Trump's four years in office. And now what we're seeing is this could be seen as one part of Iran's effort to wage its own pressure campaign against the U. S. And and maybe even more broadly, the international community at a moment when the U. S is getting ready for a presidential transition. Mm hmm. South Korea also announced today that they'll dispatch a delegation to Iran after Iran seized one of its oil tankers. What's going on there? Right. So Iran sees this oil tanker on Monday as it was going through the Strait of horror movies. That's the waterway that's the entrance and exit to the Persian Gulf. Now Iran claims that this was for pollution violations. But there's a very strong suspicion that the real reason Iran is doing. This is a big once. South Korea to hand over $7 billion now South Korea's been withholding this money for Iranian oil that it bought because of the broader U. S sanctions. US is not only sanctioning Iran itself, it's asked for other countries to go with go along with these sanctions. Iran is in very bad financial shape. It desperately needs this money. And so it would seem. This is an attempt to destroy Ethan's its economy and even reports that Iran once this money to pay for covert vaccines. Mm around, also announced that it's going to enrich uranium to a higher level, though still not to the weapons. Great level. How significant is this? Well, it is significant Iran is allowed to enrich a limited amount of uranium to about 4% to run nuclear power plants. But now it's saying it's enriching up to 20%. This could be used for medical research. But this is clearly a move to press for these greater sanctions relief and saying it wants some action taken here. It would need to go all the way up to 90%. You have weapons grade uranium, and there's no indication that's going to happen right now. But Iran again is trying to send a very clear, clear signal that is going to be very aggressive and assertive at this moment. Mm hmm. I have about 30. Seconds with you. U S Iran Relations hit a low point during this Trump administration. So what are you expecting from the incoming Biden administration? We're certainly expecting a different approach. President elect Biden says he's willing to go back to the 2015 nuclear deal. If Iran is going toe go back to the same restrictions that were in place at the beginning, But it's not 2015 and what we're hearing is both sides might talk about a possible freeze, and then they would need to be some negotiations. Go back and get things on track. But that's not going to be easy. We see this pressure campaign from Iran, it will be a difficult challenge for the Biden administration.
