"One call that's all sports death. Here's Nick fan wagon in the long drought is over for the next 21 weekends. There will be meaningful NFL Football games. The Green Bay Packers kick off their season Sunday against the Saints. The game was supposed to be held in New Orleans but has been moved to Jacksonville, Florida The big Easy still recuperating from the effects of Hurricane Ida Aaron Rodgers on an instagram post that showed him embracing head coach Matt Leflore. Yeah, just virtual middle fingers to the world. You know, I like people who people who said We'd never be able to get along and coexist and all the with that audible story. You know, It's a, uh Quiet on that front, Isn't it? Aaron Rodgers, right in his comfort zone, handing out virtual middle fingers NFL kickoff his Thursday the Dallas Cowboys traveled to Tampa to face the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Did you see our friend Jean Miller throwing out the first pitch this weekend, guys? That American family? Yeah. Brewers Craig manager Craig Counsell waning, weighing in on the pitch perfect first pitch step. Definitely. The courage to step up on the mound is that that's part of it, so I didn't do that I through from the front. I figured I didn't want to get in Freddie Peralta's office. Apparently, Craig wasn't watching jeans pitch because Craig told him it was perfect. He went up to the mound and jeans like Yeah, no, no, I didn't do that now asked for the crew tonight, they're back at it. Against the Phillies Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff was the first to admit Mondays. 12 loss was partly on him. I think it's a matter of Ms location and just get a little too predictable, just not making a pitch. I think that was kind of the theme there. Most teams are coming out for the fastball and You could see early on that they were doing that. I just didn't make the adjustment quick enough to get the all speed Finally John After Saturday's loss to Penn State at Camp Randall Stadium, the Wisconsin Badgers have expectedly moved down in the polls there now number 18 in the AP Top 25. I was at Camp Randall on Saturday. It was fun, but it was not fun. It was just not pleasant, watching that offense to struggle to score the ball and put it in the end zone. It's hard because it leaves no margin for error at all. I mean, it's it's there. If they want a college football playoff appearance this season, they're going to have to win out. They're going to have to beat Ohio State the Big 10 title game, and they cannot afford a single loss the rest of the way. Yeah, that's a lot of pressure. They got to get it together. It's for 48 at WTMJ. So much has changed. There will be no big gig this year's summer fest, announcing that it will cancel the festival this year..

"The Brewers scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to come back and defeat the Cardinals by a 65 score. They jump out to a one Nothing lead in the second on a Pablo Reyes home run. ST Louis scores the next five and has that 51 lead going to the ninth. The Brewers push across a run, then they get the bases loaded. And Daniel Vogel back, comes up to the plate as a pinch hitter and hit a walk off Grand Slam. It is the first pinch hit walk off Grand Slam in the history of the Brewers organization, a lot of focus on Vogel back and rightfully so. But manager Craig Counsell said there were a lot of good at bats in the ninth that lead to the vocal background slam. The guys did a great job. Start with Jackie Kind of putting together a tough ninth inning. Jackie and Luke. Um you know, Jace just having tough ask you just having time. At bats against a really good pitcher and set it up for bogus heroics. Vogel back himself almost seemed like he was trying to take the spotlight off himself and talked about just overall the character of this team that led to the victory. I just think that shows you know the guys in the clubhouse and who we have on this team. Um not really. Anything bothers us or let things start to rumble. And, um, you know, snowball. So it's every night even when I wasn't here, you know, watching and seeing, you know, Never out of the game, and you know everybody fighting to the end. It's just the unsolved business, and I'm just happy to be part of Brewers Take two of three from the Cardinals. They begin a series this afternoon against the Phillies, Brandon Woodruff against Zack Wheeler. That's going to be a one 11th pitch. Our coverage began just after 12 o'clock with Brewer's warm up the Wisconsin Badgers They lost on Saturday to Penn State 16 10. Now they get back to work. The Packers go into their standard game week as they begin their season. Coming up on Sunday when they go to Jacksonville to take on the New Orleans Saints. The game being moved from New Orleans due to the effects of Hurricane Ida, the NFL season. "The cost for this tune up is only $119 Call 262367 32 66 262367 32 66. I want Lee. It was an improbable win for the Brewers on Sunday afternoon, but an incredible win nonetheless as they defeat the Cardinals by a 65 score, So many come from behind victories this year for the Brewers, but hard to equal up to this one, where they're down 51 in the bottom of the ninth push across five runs, four of which score on a walk off Grand Slam off the bat of pinch hitter Daniel Vogel back After the game, manager Craig Counsell said. You really have to have a lot of contributors to win a game like this. That's one of those that feels good on our side. And I'm sure it stings on their side. But you know, it was one of those crazy games that, um, we got the big hit at the end, and some somebody did. Some bunch of guys did really good stuff to get us there. For Vogel back. He's recently off the injured list when he went on the I L He was the starting first baseman. He comes back really as a bench player, and he comes up with the big moment as the pinch hitter, and he said he relishes these types of moments I enjoyed, you know, being in those situations whether I fail or whether I succeed, you know, as a competitor. You always want to be in those situations and be the guy that steps up to the plate in that situation. I'm just happy that I was able to come through, you know, for the guys and they, you know, grind it all all games seemed like we were playing from behind the whole time. You know, obviously the ball doesn't bounce our way. So I was just happy to be able to go up there and, you know, uh, Try to pull it out. Pablo Reyes also hitting a home run for the Brewers. Corbyn Burns makes the start five innings, three runs on six hits, seven strikeouts, two walks. He does not factor into the decision. "Her, and here's a drive out to center back on. It is Heredia at the track. He looks up It is gone. Really a dollars jumping on the first Midwest Bank hotline? Here's Brewers Podcaster Wayne. Gringo. Hello, Lane. How you doing, my friend? I'm doing wonderful. Enjoying a nice off day? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thanks for spending part of it with us. I want to ask you about Kolten Wong Amazing pop at the top great leather excitement on the basis saw that this weekend again. What's the most important thing that Wang brings to this team. Uh, I just think the energy and that's really a theme throughout this team. I mean, we talk about that so much with Willie Adama's. But Colton has been bringing a ton of injury energy since day one also, and I actually wrote about this today. It will be in a blog on poor come tomorrow. He's been exactly what the Brewers thought he was going to be when they signed him, but it feels like he took his game to another level this week. And I think going back to ST Louis, you know, 100% capacity, even though they didn't have four crowds at Busch Stadium. I think he really wanted to show up in his old ballpark this week because he did some really good things in that series in ST Louis. And of course, everybody's talked about the stolen base off of Jati, which was, I think more sentimental for him than anything else. But he hit really well in that series and made some great defensive plays in that series, and it carried over into the National series. The play. On Saturday night is one we're going to talk about when we talk about this season, and we talk about individual place That's going to be one of the three or four that we're going to be talking about when the season's over. It was such a high baseball IQ high awareness type of play, and it was a lot of fun. If you watched it on the replay. With the close up of Kolten, Wong is face as he Tennessee's out, that's not going to get it done. And then all of a sudden, he's like They're all going for it, and you can see his eyes get big and he races back with a sense of urgency to tag you can kind of see it developed just by watching his face. That was a really fun moment. You know, offensively speaking, Christian, yellowed, starting to tick up here a little bit Lane 3 60 over his last seven starts Couple home runs, including the Grand Slam. We haven't seen a ton of pop from yelling. What do you think has changed here and I thought his line after the game was great. The story has not been written on his season Northern brewery season. I think that's a great perspective to you know, his overall numbers aren't anywhere near where he'd want them to be. But the team has a chance to accomplish exactly what he wants more than anything else, which is to win a World Series, so the story hasn't been written yet. I think he's hung in there. More than anything, and I think you started to see it on the road trip. Yeah, the power wasn't there, but he's starting to get some doubles. He gapped a few baseballs. He started to have a lot of hard contact down in ST Louis and you look over his last 11 games and 10 starts in there. He's hitting 3 56 in that stretch. He has the two home runs, but he has some doubles in there as well. He's driving in runs. He's getting some hits with runners in scoring position, and I just think more than anything, he's getting some positive reinforcement. He's getting positive results. And when that happens, you just naturally press a little bit less. You can start to be yourself again, and we all know what Christian Yelich is like when he is himself, and I think we're starting to see it. Hopefully, it continues as we get ready for this big series with the Reds, but he even tweeted yesterday it It feels good to feel good. And so I think that's him. Acknowledging that he feels a little bit different. The timing looks better. That's probably the most simplistic way of putting it. The swing doesn't look a ton different, but the timing looks a little bit better. And I think he's getting a little bit more aggressive early in counts to where he was a little more passive. If you go back to June and early July, and I think those two things combined better timing and a little bit more aggressive when you go back to 18 in the second half and over the 19 season, go look up. How many? Oh one pitches. He hit out 02 pitches even but certainly early in the count home runs, he Get a ton of them. In those two years in Lane, Aaron asked me the Brewers top pitching prospect is settled in after his rough first start ever against the Cubs. Where does he factor in not only the rest of the way, but in the month of October? I think he can be a very versatile guy that can do whatever the Brewers need him to do. I think in a perfect world, he factors in as a bullpen piece, but there's also this thing about running these guys out there way beyond their career highs in innings. Over the course of this next month. And so you want to be careful with Corbyn Burns and Brandon Woodruff. And when Freddie Peralta comes back, so if you have a chance to slot him in every once in a while into the rotation, let him start to. I think that will be a key thing to keep the other guys fresh. So I think you'll see him do both. I think if you're looking at it more from a big picture, What would the postseason look like? From Aaron Ashby? Definitely a bullpen piece and a really nasty one. He's starting to throw more strikes. He's been able now twice. Over his last three outings to navigate some trouble in an inning, which I think is a big thing for a young pitcher, and anybody that's watching him knows how good the stuff is. This is really nasty stuff. He's going to be a really special pitcher. He's the next guy out of this group. The Brewers have found a way to really develop pitching and international. Is that next one along with probably Ethan, Small brewers broadcaster Lane Grendel has always great stuff, Lane. Thank you. Appreciate it, guys. Thanks so much Wtmj is John Mark here here for Annex Wealth management taking care of your face. Family. It's a huge responsibility. I know you take it seriously. "Well, this game moves to the bottom of the second inning. The Reds are on top one to nothing. And it will be of a seal Garcia, Jace Peterson and rowdy Tellez to that against Casio in the second, and we welcome in our good friend Charlie Goldsmith from the inquire, Charlie. You had a Story in the paper today and on Cincinnati dot com. The folks can check out about what it's like Playing for David Bell is this team has some success now in his third year at the helm. One of the hardest things to do in baseball is measure the impact the manager has. So I asked, and even bells tome confidence. He gives the players and his communication as well. Whether three things that sit out most of Here is Homicide. Yield. Garcia Garcia to 56 hitters. 16 homers 55 driven in Bats with the Reds, leading one to nothing. Already, five hits the Reds have in the first two innings against Brandon Woodruff. The Brewers had one hit. A leadoff single by Luis Arias and the whole It's short. It was the only base runner for the Brewers. In the first he was stranded at 2nd 1st pitch up and away for ball one to have a say Yo Garcia. It seems like guys really enjoy. Playing for him, and it seems like there is a real family atmosphere that starts with David in that clubhouse. Exactly. There aren't as many managers who have the playing experience. He has one. Oh, swinging the miss one ball and strike. That's something that stands out. How he's able to relate to players while they're struggling, is something that stands out how he tells the bullpen before the game. How he expects to use them has made a big difference. Yeah, Boy, I gotta imagine that That makes a big difference If you're a reliever, having an idea of how you're going to be used, especially if it's going to vary day to day the pitch down into one. Yeah, and it makes a great difference to the player, especially the everyday players because Knowing that your manager is going to stick with you, but also allowing.

"G. M. J. Brewers and Mets opening up a three game series this evening. The pitching matchups through the series tonight, Brandon Woodruff against Tyler McGill tomorrow looks like Brett Anderson is going to come off the injured list to make the start will face off against Jacob Diagram. And then Corbyn burns against the old TBH coming up on Wednesday. I'm a little I'll be honest with you. I'm a little bummed. This is not a shot at Brett Anderson. But if you're going to face off against Jacob program, it would have been great if he was pitching against would drift or burns or Peralta just to have one of those great pitching matchups, But that's not not going to happen. But if they play each other in the postseason will happen. This is a this very easily could be a post season preview between these two teams. Brewers Get three All Stars. All pictures. Brandon Woodruff, Corbyn Burns, Josh hater, all making it for Burns. It's his first time would drift and hater getting multiple All Star appearances. Manager Craig Counsell talked about earlier day he opened up really talk about Corbyn Burns because burns when he got the news. He was emotional, and you think about burns his path and the splash he made in his big league debut, and then it just all went away in his next season and kind of had to reinvent himself as a picture. Council said that yeah, it is. It's special to be an all star. It's especially special when you're an all star for the first time, and there's even more when it comes to two carbon burns. I mean, I think number one is the first time All star. It's a different It's a different feeling. There's no question about that, Um And I think I mean, I think you're right. I think Korman is a great example of a player who the game kind of kicked in the teeth. And, um he made a decision. Really? Not to let it beat him or not a lot of lot to let it. Hold him down in any way. Um And that it's just it's really impressive. I mean, I don't think the 2019 season could have been any more cruel. He had just was a cruel season. The Corbyn and in the fact that he didn't do well, um, he was sent to the minor leagues, You know, multiple times, um Option multiple times and, you know, performance related. Really, um And he took it upon himself to to really rethink and remake. You know all areas of his game. I think from mentally and physically through his arsenal, um, training wise just to come back as strong as he possibly could in every area. And, um And he deserves so much credit for that. It's um it's not easy, we think well, that's of course, that's what you do, but the level to which he's done. It has made a big difference in What we see on the field. He makes a great point. When you think about where he was at and where he has gotten, too. It's remarkable. I use the word remarkable a lot about this team. It is. It's It's remarkable. So your other two guys you got Brandon Woodruff. Making the All Star game for a second time. You have Josh hater for a third time when you become a multiple time All Star. It almost kind of not that you need to have credibility added, But you're not a one hit wonder. I guess you can say like you're It's a legitimate sort of deal when the Brewers again multiple all stars, who are multiple time all stars Certainly says something about what they're doing as an organization. Yeah, it does. I think for Josh, you know for Josh. It does. I think for for for what he it does. I also think it speaks to You know, from from just organizationally. Um, you know, I know one of David's goals. When he came here was to become an organization that was very good at developing and Um, pinching and just helping pitching and identifying pitching and improving pitching. And I think, organizationally it's a great message. Um, you know, just That that goal that David set out as he came here. He's succeeded in his on his way, so I don't think he ever tell you he succeeded, but that he's on his way to making that happen. Um There's a lot of people there's so many people organizationally to me that play a part of these are three pictures that have been with us for quite some time. Um, and so that the development never never stops. Um and I don't think it has for these three. That's that's why they're in the position. They're in, Um But not only for the players, but I think just all around the organization. There's People that have helped these guys and give those those all those people organizationally a lot of credit as well. It was a big day for the organization. They have three pitchers name. I think it's really important really important day. And the hope is that Freddie Peralta will get added to that group. He there If you are scheduled to pitch on Sunday, you can't pitch in the All Star game. Brandon Woodruff is scheduled to pitch on Sunday. Jacob deGrom scheduled to pitch on Sunday, so there are going to be you still go to the All Star game. You're still honored as an All star. You're just not active on the All Star roster. So the belief would be that with the numbers that Peralta is putting up that he's going to end up on the All Star team as well, and that would be four pitchers making it as all stars from the Brewers, which is really something special. I'm still holding out hope that somehow, some way Omar Nevada's makes it I saw Buster Posey got a little bit banged up yesterday. He's scheduled to be a starting catcher for off of the National League team. I don't know what that's going to result in, but to me. Omar. Nevada is absolutely is worthy of being an all star as well. One more break. When we return, we'll pass along the starting lineup for today's game. It's the Brewers and the Mets, opening up a three game series or wrap up brewers warm up next here on WTMJ. Cubs Offense Struggles Downright Ugly, Lester Lacking Confidence

"You brought up Jon Lester and I thought the most interesting thing about this is Jon Lester is I can say Howard asked at this time of the morning. He's a guy that has been through 24 7. Yes, School is ah, Utah. I love talking to him in the clubhouse. And you know, conversation could go on for 10 minutes or 20 minutes or 30 minutes and you walk away thinking boy? That guy knows baseball. I just learned something right? And I was concerned when earlier in the week and after his last starter to heed voiced concerns about his confidence going forward. That's not Jon Lester. We know That's not him. Now He's 36. Obviously, you know, the end is nearing its always nearing for all of us. But as a baseball player, the end is nearing for him. This is his last year with the Cubs under contract. And he wants to perform the best He can, and he's not been happy with what's been going on. But I was watching the Marquis network on the post game last night, and they were breaking down how Lester attacked the Brewers yesterday with his cutter and four seamer. He got 16. Swings and misses 12 of the 16 rounds cutter in his four seamer yesterday, and he was able to do pitch well, do everything he could possibly do to get the Cubs to get a win last night. They just couldn't hit Brandon Woodruff earlier this year. They have better success against. I think he's pitched against only three times. So, but you got to get some hits, but I was happy to see Jon Lester. Now, if I'm Lester, I go in the locker room and listen. I busted my tail to try and keep us in games. Let's go. Let's pick it up. We've got 2.5 a little more than two weeks to go. Let's hold onto this first place position might might question the Cubs fans is 3123323776 people always talk about the window, The windows wide open all the windows closed. And this this feels like you got like a popsicle stick trying to hate hold the window up and that stick is bending right now because of your big guys Don't hit on field talked about it a couple days ago. Apparently, they didn't get the memo or they got it for a day. Right? For one inning. Anyone? Yeah, If you're big guys are going to hit. You can't win in baseball. Nowadays, it's just pitching is only going to get you so far. Even if you're pitching is doing well.

Yelich's 14th homer helps Brewers beat Mets 8-6

"Yelich hits it in the air team right field. Racing back. His Conforto that all changes here yelich goes deep and the brewers lead at five zero one he is now tied for the most home runs before may first in major league history that is his fourteenth Dinger of the year in the fifth inning is the brewers. Take a five one lead to the bottom of the fifth with one out Pete Alonzo gets a basic here comes Robinson canal Woodruff's pitch ground ball to third could be to shot to second for one Arshi is the first time and the brewers turn the double play and eating is over. Second time Robinson knows involved in a double play. He had these strike them out. Throw him out earlier on brewers would add to their lead in the top of the sixth inning. Robert gazelle machine comes on to pitch I battery faces. Hey, Seuss Aguilar. He strikes out. But then Ben gambled. Paul left side that's gonna get through into left field. Gambles around thirty is gonna try to score. No throw coming and move stock is drives in another. It's six to one brewers. Brandon Woodruff would be done after five innings. He gives up just one run on six hits junior. Garrett comes into pitch in the sixth inning throws a scoreless. Six brewers would get into a little bit of trouble though in the seventh inning. Alex Wilson comes onto pitch ipad or he faces. I'm Ed Rosario Rozario for two and hope for five the series. It's one torch right-center long run, Lorenzo Cain. Over as head. And this one is going to be gone all run for a metro sorrow and the Mets at around at sixty two next hitter. Travis d'arno pitch from Wilson ride in the left field line is headed for the corner. It's a fair ball off the wall gamble gets too quickly. Fires into second base. Here's at the tag is in time. They got Dr no not perfect draw from Ben Gammel. Yeah. They get them at second that ends up being a huge play, especially when you consider how the rest of this ending would go down. Dominic. Smith comes up as a pinch hitter. He would walk and that would end the day for Alex Wilson. Alex Claudio comes in would give up a base hit Jeff mcgeough or there's also a throwing error on the play next hitter. After that as pita Lonzo. Here's the pitch. Fly ball field. Gambled back. This ball is gone. He Alonzo homerun. Number nine and just like that. It's a one run game. Yes. Six five. So that's where Dr no being out at second really has a big role in this game in the way it was going so one run game. But the brewers would get some more insurance in the top of the eighth inning. All familiar throws runner. Takes office swinging about off the glove of Amelia canes, coming home. He's going to score as Grondahl is out at first base yellow pages in scoring position. Mission. It's an RBI ground for Grondahl and a huge run scores again. Eight five brewers Mets would start shipping away again though in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jeremy Jefferson comes onto pitch.
