"Analyst for ESPN. You see them all over social media. Xavier, I love following you on Twitter because you sent out the coolest videos. You very direct and I love how you highlight the great stuff that players are doing. Now I appreciate that. That's a big part of why I got on to this side of the game, right? Is I want to be able to highlight some of those great things that happened within our game and also outside of our game. All right, in Boston today, a lot of conversation is going to be about what happened in Toronto last night. We knew going into the series at Tanner how their closer dynamic closer was not going to be available because he's not vaccinated. We get the vaccine mandate in Canada, folks can't come in unless they've been vaccinated. During Duran also not available and they blow the blow a lead with hansel robles on a mound in the bottom of the 9th inning last night, what do you think that conversation is in the Red Sox Clubhouse today? Or is there any? Yeah, no, I definitely think there's conversation, you know, because they understand how important it is for guys to be available, not just necessarily to be out there on the field, but also for the depth factor. And these are important games in the AL east. You're talking about a Red Sox team that hasn't won a series against any AL east team, those are important things moving forward. So I look at kind of within the Clubhouse, there's always that kind of talk between players, but I think it might be something more of a manager, maybe making a statement to a young player like a Duran or Tanner house saying, hey, man, let's just kind of consider thinking about the future of this team and where we can be down the road. I don't even think it necessarily always has to be a conversation between players. I think it could be a coach that has a good relationship with the player that might try to get his ear a little bit because if you think about what this team is capable of doing and how far they've come since the beginning of the season, there is a situation where they may end up playing against a Toronto in Toronto in a playoff series like that. So I just look at it as it may come down to a factor of thinking about the team may be bigger than my own wants or wishes during the time. And it's a time where we have better information about vaccines and all that stuff now. So it may be something where guys changed their mind and become more open to having the vaccine and being able to play and be there for their team. And we've seen that. Look all the Yankees are vaccinated. All the Yankees are available when they played in Toronto. All the Blue Jays for that matter. Are available to play there. And I want to back you up on the idea that there's a real possibility that these two teams might face each other when you look at the standings in the American League, the Yankees are running away with the east. You know, they're like 12 games ahead of these two teams as of today, the Red Sox would be the second wildcard seed. The Blue Jays would be the first wild card seed, which means that first round series, if the playoffs started today, that first round series would be three games in Toronto. But the Red Sox and, you know, I don't know how you look at the American League, but I feel like that the Yankees clearly are going to wind up winning the American League east and then it's very likely the Blue Jays and the Red Sox are going to be the number one and number two wild card teams with clubs like the guardians or maybe the White Sox or maybe the rangers get involved at some point. Certainly the Tampa Bay Rays are in the mix, but I do feel like the Blue Jays and Red Sox are clearly going to wind up being the number one and number two wild card teams. Yeah, I mean, it's close because I still think with 85 some odd games left, I think the one factor is Tampa. If this team is able to get healthy and we know what they did last year, we haven't seen Tampa healthy altogether yet. Should you look at Shane baz just got back Luis patino has been out some depth from that bullpen has been out and then you look at Franco just got back Margot's been out, Brandon Lau. I think that's going to be The X Factor when it comes to this AL east and what happens with wildcard situation. So not only could those two teams play, by the way, but also games one 57, one 58, one 59 of the regular season will be in Toronto for the Red Sox. And you mentioned, you know, maybe to manage or maybe it's a coach. Maybe it's a player. I kind of feel like it needs to be someone from the front office. You know, whether it's Sam Kennedy, the president or pine bloom, the who leads baseball operations, the Red Sox, or maybe even an owner. I feel like that the message has to come from there, it feels like it might be something that Alex Cora has so much on his plate on a daily basis that in terms of Clubhouse culture in terms of dealing with players. I feel like it needs to come from higher degree of disagreement. Well, I disagree because I look at the relationships between players, coaches, you mentioned the Clubhouse culture with Alex core, that's as good as it's gonna get. I think once you start having front office kind of step into a situation, it may be something where, hey, I haven't had that type of relationship with you for you to tell me what I should do with my body. So I think that may be more of a situation where it's like, hey, that may rub somebody the wrong way, especially a young player who's already so adamant about not having the vaccine, right? So for me, I think it has to come more from a trusted member of the team. Somebody that I've already created a good relationship with rather than the front office. So on Monday's podcast, we talked about the rumblings of Freddie Freeman was going to change representation and administratively what happened was is that he informed the union of a change in his representation. He is currently listed as being self represented and an email went out to all agents on Sunday basically saying no contact with Freddie because he doesn't want to get besieged in the middle of a season by a bunch of text messages, phone calls from agents. I don't think this is completely over Freddie kind of hinted at that, said it's in the state of flux, I think there's still conversations going on between his old representation excel, which took him through the spring negotiations with the braves and with the Dodgers, we'll see if he winds up going back to excel, but X, what do you make of all this? Because in the middle of a season, it's pretty unusual..

"It's all guesswork and trying to just have the right intentions and try to be conservative, but we had mcclanahan debut in the playoffs in 2020 and then like one way or another kind of needed a full season out of them and our goal was to have a 7 month full season, so he was pitching in the playoffs and you know we got pretty aggressive with drew Rasmussen and we had balls on the playoffs, like, you know, if Chris archer had been healthier, he would have taken some of those innings and we gave a bunch of those enhance to rich hill in the first half. So there was stuff we did to try to build out the length depth, but I don't think it was anything that every team wasn't already thinking about. Was there any inter team collaboration around the injury question going into the year? 'cause I imagine that, you know, you're gonna stress that as a competitive advantage, but also there is something to be gained from a wisdom of a crowd in respect to injury prevention. I don't know if I can answer that. Not a great secret thing, but I don't know if I know enough to answer that. I'm sure the trainers the medical staffs that they communicate amongst themselves pretty often, but I don't know how much of that trickle to whatever my level is. Sure, fair enough. I feel like I'd be remiss if I didn't give you an open platform to sing an ode to wander Franco. Would you like to sing a song if you don't, would you like to say some nice words about him instead? I don't have any lyrics prepared, but like he's really good, right? Yeah. There is a strip in spring training of 2021, which is this year still. He struck it. I don't know, like, 6 times. In spring training, but just because it's one different going because one of the things is like he makes a ton of contact. I remember, like he hit this big home run I went over like the offices in Port Charlotte and it made the rounds. It went viral because it's wonderful. When you hit a big giant home run you're like these 20 years old, they hit that home run. And then he also had these strikes. You're like, oh, because you just kind of get it in your head. Like even though you know, if you step back, you know, he's a very good player. You know what the stable skills are. You seems right there a few times in spring training, you're like, something doesn't seem right. And at the start, when he came up to the majors, debuting against Boston, which was a fun change of pace because it happened right after our swept in four games in Seattle, which was a low point of my season, but then he came up and he was great, but after that first game against Boston, he took a little time to define his footing, and he wasn't really like tearing the cover off the ball to say nothing of how difficult an environment it was for rookie hitters. Yeah. This year because it's hard to do. But by the time the oster break in August world, he basically stopped striking out at all. I think he went, what was it like 40 or 50 plate appearances without us right out? And this is, this is us. Like we're a team that strikes out some. Yeah. Famously. It's a very different feeling kind of a bet. And I don't need to tell you one because everybody knows Franco is good, but the defense kind of exceeded my own expectations, the energy is just so infectious like everybody can see this. This isn't like team insight. You can tell. Right. This kid is obviously special. Anyone who you read about him in the minors, if you're a fan or a straight or whatever, but you haven't really seen him yet. Welcome to the majors. And you get it immediately. Like it shines through without any question. And he's not even he's not even as good as he's likely to be. Right. Which is, it's great. Yeah. One of the things you kind of struggle with Brandon Lau got off to a bit of a slow start this past season, right? And he wound up hitting like a million home runs and drawing me in a million runners like great season by Brandon Lau. But you think back like we had a lot of people struggling in the playoffs last year, and then this season gets started and you're like, I don't know, the numbers aren't really there yet. And one of the biggest adjustments in I guess you didn't ask about this directly, but indirectly. One of the biggest adjustments this year, working for a team, relative to the year before, there was a hundred more games here. And I can't speak for everyone, but I kind of forgot what a full season feels like. Yeah. And so emotionally, like it was hard when you have guys struggling at the start of the season to remember like, oh, there's like a lot of time though. That's a normalized. So like, you know, I became irrationally concerned about one or 5.4 because he wasn't hitting 300. I became irrationally concerned about Brandon Lauer first because he wasn't hitting whatever. And he turns around. He's like one of the best hitters in the major leagues a lot of months of the year. It's just like, oh right, I forgot that this season finds its level if you get a time. Yeah, you don't have to, if 15 games are sort of a slump, you don't have to really worry about it because that's not a quarter of your season. You know, guys can just sort of adjust and be on their way and look really good. It's funny, obviously the stakes on the public side for this sort of thing are very, very different than they are. On the team side, but I don't know. You want good baseball players to play good baseball and sort of dazzle us with that because it's way more fun to watch guys who are succeeding than guys who are struggling, we feel bad about that. We're like, you know, it pokes at our tender feelings. But when you have a guy who's been aided, you're like, could you be good, please? It would be really nice if you could be good because we've said that you'll be very, very good. So can you do that and then wander was like, yeah, I got you. That's fine. And then you didn't say those words, but he communicated that test with his play in a way that I felt really good about. I mean, it's crazy. This all kind of goes without saying, but everybody knew how special wonderful it was. But of course, what that means is wander Franco knows how special ever went expects him to be. And that can be like motivating whatever, but I crumble if I get forward text messages like within 20 minutes because I can't handle any pressure. To be able to do that at that age..

"I don't think there's anything even really talk about here, but before we dive in, I'll obviously ask you how you feel as well. We can talk it out. We can add the debate. But Lance mccullers junior sounded like somebody who's gonna pitch in this series after Tuesday's game four. To be fair. But he was scratched with forearm tightness. He's the Astros best pitcher at this moment without him, the Red Sox road to the 2021 World Series could be through Shane bars, drew Rasmussen, Colin McHugh, Jose or kitty, Jose Garcia, framber Valdez, a Christian Javier Zach Greinke hybrid. What the fuck is that? It's insane. It's absolutely, and the way that Greinke's last month of the season unfolded. He was on the cover of all he came back and made two starts, then went back on the IO and then was only able to throw a bullpen ses because it was the end of the year. So he's probably not going to be able to fill him into the rotation. And if he does, I don't see him going like four inning seems like his max at this point. So the Red Sox if the colors is out, the updates don't sound bad. I think the coaching staff weighed in on it yesterday and think that he should be fine. But getting a forearm tightness to diagnosis right before the ALCS is supposed to begin on Friday is just classic bullshit Red Sox look. And this is why this team pisses me off because like we talked like I talked about on the last episode, hilarious. Absolutely fucking hilarious how the Yankees run into the race. Look, the Yankees should have got the job done against the rays last year. I'm not making any excuses. Blake snells on that good. But no, but they had Blake's now. They had Charlie Morton. They had Tyler glass now. I know they battered Tyler glass now. I know they they handle Blake Snell too at some point. But that was and then the race had a beast bullpen that year too. So if you have pictures that can actually give you length and then you have a bullpen behind it, that's worth something. That can at least be competitive. The Yankees when faced with competitive situations usually lie down. So the Yankees get that version of the raise. And then the Red Sox get this version of the raise, which, yeah, a 120 very good, but starting rookies in games one and two, and then a hybrid pitcher and game three and then Colin McHugh and other hybrid pitcher in game four, like give me a break. I'm never gonna forgive Brandon Lau, either. Like we can't over 18 but 9 strikeouts in the LDS and he beat the shit out of us with three home runs in like ten RBIs in the final fucking series of the season. This is what we're complaining about. The Red Sox are not as good as the raised, but the Red Sox didn't get the raise. They got Brandon low getting no hits in a four game series..

"Ends October 10th back with Alex barth of 98 5 the sports hub and you can follow them on Twitter at real Alex barth, apparently doesn't know how to center himself on his camera as we're doing. Podcast. Are you with us? Yeah. Okay. You could move over to your right just to see, I get because there's this. I don't have like a perfect way to balance everything here. Way to prep for this podcast, I appreciate it, Alex. You come through for us all the time, you're awesome. All right, let's spend some time as we wrap it up on the Tampa Bay Rays and the things that the Red Sox is going to have to do. First of all, they're starting pitching is going to have to control the top 5 batters in their order which figure to be. Randy, rosarina, playing left field, wander Franco, the super sensation rookie that was brought up in mid season and he hasn't disappointed. He's their shortstop. DH Nelson Cruz, who has experience up the wazoo. This will not be in a bigger than life situation for him batting third. Batting fourth cleanup is third baseman yandy Diaz and batting 5th, second baseman likely to be batting 5th Brandon Lau with a lot of pop. He had three homers in a game I believe recently against the New York Yankees a blowout win as the Tampa Bay Rays clinched a hundred win season in the best record in the American League. That's one thing. And the other thing is their rotation. The Red Sox are going to face Shane mcclanahan in game number one. And he it seems like we say this every year, Alex barth, about Tampa Bay pictures. He had a breakout year as a young picture in the ray's rotation. He's a left hander he had a ten and 6 record this past year, 3.43 ERA. He starts game one a little more than a year after he became the first picture in MLB history to debut. Make his debut in the postseason. He posted a 3.01 ERA with 99 strikeouts over the last three months of the season. And, you know, he is a guy that is really, I think in a try and give Tampa Bay a boost right out of the gate. Yeah, I mean, I think they've got a bank on him because without glass now. And we talked about this a while ago, like, I thought Tampa was out of it without glass now, because I wasn't a huge fan of their pitching rotation now. Mcclanahan's come on and sometimes it's hard to project with rookies right and he's obviously been that guy. So he checks a box, but Ryan Yarborough struggled Michael walker's struggle. So if you can, if you're the Red Sox, and this is obviously easier said than done. If you can take a game started by mcclanahan, you really put the raisin corner. It's not impossible for the Red Sox to win it if they lose game one. But it kind of becomes tough for the race to win it, right? If they lose it because then they're pitching potentially against totally blown up. So mcclanahan is a pivotal player in this series. I don't have a splits in front of the Red Sox when it pulls up right now because I'm actually curious, but I think this first game is going to tell us a lot..

"A third and it was like premeditated pullout, great and wandy comes in and has absolutely nothing. He's walking people. I mean, he gives up this ridiculous lefty lefty dink to Austin Meadows. And this series turned almost twice on just stupid bloops. I mean, the winning run in Friday's game was Kevin to cure my are just putting bad on a ball in the other batter's box looping it over G, or shallow at shortstop. Who didn't seem to track it right and isn't a shortstop and didn't really know where the pop up was. And then obviously, Jonathan, why is that guy who finally back from injury didn't unable to pitch with no restrictions, clearly their monitoring him, et cetera, just don't want him to go back to back. He comes in and, you know, there's a runner a third thanks to a dribbler down the left field line that Gary can't pick up. A stolen base where Gary has the runner beaten and throws high to second. Advances on a deep fly out to Joey Gallo, who's off his he's on his incorrect feat throwing the third it's already rosarina is at third with one out suddenly in the 8th. After doing basically nothing to earn a base at all. Like proving how crazy it was at the Yankees didn't have base runners on as well because you know Randy and Austin Meadows and somebody else Brandon Lau. Oh God. I think it was Brandon Lau who just popped one into left field too earlier in the game. And it was like, well, there's nobody there. Great, cool, wonderful. They had three of the easiest dinky CH you'll ever see in that game. But Nelson Cruz up with Randy on third one ounce squirrels game in the Liza got him on a tailing fastball like 97 off inside off the plate. And then obviously Gio rachelle heroic beyond heroic with that diving catch. I'm not sure I would start him at shortstop. I'm gonna use that as a jumping off point for the Fenway game just because I don't know if I would start him at shortstop in the wildcard game with that limited range of motion. It felt like they were getting they got off really lucky in the 6th, 7th and 8th. Keeping Jewish Ella on the field because when he grounded out later in his one at bat, he barely walked first. He was sort of hobbling and you know, somehow no grounders were hitting the shortstop hole in the 7th or 8th. And if they had been, we probably would have noticed that, oh, this guy has no lateral quickness whatsoever. I was sort of stunned they left him in. Obviously, he's been hot with the bat lately in a way that maybe fans haven't noticed because it came during such a junk Carlos Stanton dominated streak, Aaron judge dominated street or shell has been hot for probably like three weeks now. Which is, again, kind of not sort of under the radar, but you know, they kept him in and he wanted to stay in, and you're not going to go against your player's wishes, but I'm not sure I would start him at Fenway Park in another do or die and endure die postseason game. I certainly wouldn't start him at short, I don't think I would go, you know, they don't have DJ Lemay here..

"To do that. Advance work short e way. Oh plus if. I figured out how to get ohtani out. I don't know that. I would publicized that. What an interesting conflict that would be for you. Then it's like you found a solution your job as raider. An analyst is to find answers and then share them with people. but you're so invested. you're in too deep. The sunk cost is so high. I mean the good news is that i think that it would take. It would take an act of god really at this point to to get him off the pedestal for mvp. So you could share the secrets. It won't it won't get in the way he'll probably be fine. I think it's gonna be okay. Yes i've been thinking about. Should i read a. What's ailing otani piece. But i figured maybe. I'll just wait for the end of the season and do a breakdown of the whole thing and if he does finish sloth and i can talk about why that happened nice thing is if he's slumping offensively he is still been a really good starting pitcher which is not something that you can say about most hitters. Who are slumping. that's the with otani it's like. He'll hurt himself as a pitcher and he can't pitch out at okay. You can still be really good hitter or if things aren't going so well in the batter's box well. He's been the best pitcher on team to so he can contribute in many ways. And you know just watching him from a fire doesn't seem like it's gotten him down. I'm sure it's been a bit frustrating but you still smiling laughing and joking around in the dugout all the time so i hope he'll get things together. It's not like he's been horrendous. He just hasn't penalty other-worldly two-way way. Superstar that we saw earlier in the season. Maybe it's that you're not loving him hard enough then. Oh no his it my fault it all comes down to you. Haven't brought him up on the podcast as much lately which is because he hasn't been performing at the level but i know correlation causation anyways. So complicated yup. So hopefully i'll have recent to bring him up for for good reason sped. I was hoping they'd get that fifty twenty five season fifty homers twenty five steals and looking pretty good for the steals right. Now he's twenty three. He stole home the other day although it was on a delayed double steal. But yeah it's gonna be a struggle to get those seven homeowner's over the remaining games but hope fingers crossed anyway. I also wanted to mention that. The rays have a new prospect to has been called up. We don't have to do a full mita major league right now. But josh low is the latest ray to be summoned to the majors and i said this yanji chat the other day. But i'm so relieved that the rays only have to lows or laos instead of three because we came close to that right. Because josh low is actually the younger brother of nathaniel low former ray and current ranger and so we could have ended up in a situation. Where you had. Josh slow and nathaniel low and brandon lau on the same team and initially. The struggle was with trying to remember whether it was brandon. Lau or low or nathaniel o or lau and then eventually i got that straight three lowest slash laos on a single team. That would have been tough at this point. Now that i know it's brandon lau. It's actually a little easier. He has that unusual pronunciation because it helps me differentiate between them right. But josh slow is a very promising prospect to. I think he was forty. Eighth on eric on the list of top prospects in baseball before he was called up in second on the raise behind opera. Han and you know he. Does everything well too. I think he had twenty four steals in twenty four attempts before he was called up and he is hit well to and so he just made his major league debut he and his older brother. They were both drafted by the raise in sixteen in the same draft and josh low who was a high school player he was taken in the first round with the thirteenth overall. Pick and his older brother. Nathaniel was a college player so he was taken in the thirteenth round so he was not as promising a prospect or player but he got to the big leagues sooner. Anyway there have been many cases where there have been three players with the same surname on the same team at the same time but it can be confusing as far as i know. There's only been one case of four less. There was one in recent years that i'm overlooking. I believe the nineteen ninety-four orioles who had four smith's under arrest her. I guess if you would've guessed what the surname would be. It would probably be smith. But they had dwight smith lee smith lon smith and mark smith on the team in that same season so that must have been a hassle but a far more likely hassle. One would think i mean. You're so many smith's out. There is a plethora a bushel. Pet converse smith so one would would be less surprised though the concentration i guess is crying. Remarkable given how. It doesn't happen all the time. I do love. The baseball references updated their pronunciation guide for loud to be rhymes was now just as a way of making it clear but the low has has no pronunciation guide so far that's probably because he was just called up but Era you gotta get on surrogate people who are so confused yeah nathaniel low does have just lower elo w which is the standard. That's the default. If you're lau you have to explain yourself if you're low yet we will assume you're low unless told otherwise of course you're low it's twenty twenty one. It's a hard time. They could have fit them. All on the team i guess. At the same time because nathaniel low is a first baseman primarily and then brandon. Lau is a second baseman primarily and josh low is an outfielder rightfielder i think although nathaniel low place about feel too so in theory they could have squeezed them all into the same same field at the same time but fortunately they don't i mean not. Fortunately for the lows. I i guess they probably would have enjoyed being brothers on the same team together but for us so that we can just say lower lau in now you know which one we. I wonder. we've maybe talked about this before because obviously there are a number of baseball brothers Who are up in the majors at the same time. But i i really do wonder like which your preference be to be on the same team with your relative. I mean it's gonna depend a lot on the relationship but even if you have a good relationship with your siblings. They're still your sibling. This is less familiar to you as an only child but like my sister and i are very dear friends but there were times when we were young people were just like beat the crap out of each other and we loved each other very much but we did the thing that siblings do and so. I wonder it's like if you if you're having a really stressful day at work. Are you happy your brothers there because then you have someone to sit with you in the locker room. Who loves you unequivocally or are you. Just you know devastated there there because you know that in addition to thinking about like the runs you gave up as a pitcher that they're also thinking about the time they they like be up as a little kid and they have that they have that whole start. I don't know it would be jerky thing. Yeah no i've thought about that. Also in terms of like sons playing for father's race i'm sure is great and special in some ways but also there mistreat times. When like you wish that your dad weren't in the clubhouse rate. I mean think about like cal ripken junior and billy ripken. Playing for cal ripken senior or like moist said playing for felipe lou. I believe he holds the all time record for longevity of of playing for one's father because moist played for pay in montreal and also in san francisco later so he played for his dad a lot. And i'm sure that's great in a lotta ways you know. Just make those memories and can share things with your father that are in a professional context as well as personal context but like also if you're a professional ballplayer in your twenties in your thirties and maybe you're cutting loose little. And maybe you don't want to be on your best behavior at all times. And i don't know what their relationships with their fathers were like. And maybe if you grow up around club houses all the time and you're in a baseball family like the answer a little looser than they would otherwise be but still like you know..

"Two thirty three home runs. I would say next season though. Don't you have to take india over hayes. India's clearly cincinnati's leadoff hitter. He has more power. Yeah i mean in other lineup. We bought with thirty five home runs batting right behind him. In the honest india's got that professional history of three seventy five or better on base percentage. So i really locks into that number. One spot i so i have a lot of shares of him and i remember what i said the show that i didn't think he'd be that star player. I look at this line. And i don't say that that does look like a massive star but it amounted to a very good fantasy season does the exceed that probably not. But he's probably within range of it i. He's he's the no what you get kinda guy. Yeah this might be the best. He's the number eleven second baseman on the full season player. Reiter still behind buyers and brandon lau but man great season rookie. Great season there. We'll circle back to trivia here. Top three infielders in slugging percentage since the all-star break who you got certainly rhonda's number one easy thank you didn't diminish my achievement. Get them off. And i'm gonna demand issue until you get all three three three so you only get three glasses tristan however you need. Gosh i mean. Can i keep guessing until you kicking out i had. I had a whole bunch of outfielders. For the certainly. Cj crohn's obvious. You did coronas number three. Who's number two dressing. You're gonna guess gets all three eric. You're banned from guessing right now. Boy boy the first guy was thinking of was harder. Renfro as an adult ready galvez. No probably not really galveston sure. He's qualified to yeses here but patricia. Give at least one for i mean. Slugging percentage wouldn't be up there. But ozzy albie is at a pretty decent second-half has he's been so But now he's probably teammate. Is team austin. Riley's more i guess. He ranks for seven points behind the guy. You're trying to catch not freeman freeman. It's been great to. Hasn't he not freeman. Think so infielders is what's throwing me here. I've given tristan aclu eric. You can't listen. This guy's team is currently tied for last place in his. What is i already know who it is. That's why you can listen. Well i heard it gets fifteen seconds. It's going to lose recorded podcasts. Now peres so you three. He gives it away. I mean it's you know whatever tristan's unhappy right if you're unhappy you. You can have a minute child. Football sarah artists today by the way people listen to fantasy. Focus football podcast. It's a great fun. Got kyle's there live every day and he actually is life that one actually islam. they don't let us be live because we may curse or something i mean. We're definitely the one they worry about anything. If we're going to eric for his he sees the master these smart answer. Here what are you. it's definitely hurry plocka. it's definitely a flock or good work. Mr care how you doing. We're swindle less seriously. It's six forty seven the overall list your rights to yeah up here in that struck me. Satellites were renfro and the fact that their batting him second off against right handed pitchers the other was. Who's the dude is mike. Xenos one homer behind nelson curriculums and eric. You mentioned any. No it's i. He's one over diagnosing crews great for renfro eleventh among all players. okay. I that's a guy who did not hit ryan pitching in san diego. And he's made adjustments now. He's and he's obviously a great arm ended. That game gets joey wendell the other day but all right. We're running out of weekends tristen. So any advice you can give fantasy baseball managers. Obviously you're either in your fantasy play head to head or you're starting at next week and you know it's pretty interesting stuff and then on a rodeo. I wrote a league. Top of the standings man like the three teams. Just keep keep changing hands like the lead. It's just it's so exciting. What's happening leading. Everytime that wainwright pitches i move up. Gather my ale. Only five teams are within roughly five points for first place..

"Actually i guess he and brandon lau are now tied at three point four and they do have a bunch of guys right behind them so they hate joey wendell at three point two and they have zunino at three. According to baseball reference where which doesn't include framing and then wander franco whom we have discussed quite a bit lately has three and if he had come up earlier he would probably have more than that but they have a bunch of guys who are within a winner so of allowing rose arena but still for a team that is as good as the raise that essentially has the division sealed up and is winning at like six thirty clip to not have a single four wind player or even three point five win player now a weakened to september that sounded strange to me and i was kind of clicking around looking at other teams trying to think of some other teams in the past that made it been candidates. I couldn't find any that. Quite compared. So i asked kenny jacqueline of baseball reference to send me a big data dump of all the teams basically with a flag for whether they made the playoffs or when their division and also with their listed world leader for that season and how many war that player was worth and it turns out that the rays are threatening to also make some history here. I don't know if it's good history or bad history but it turns out that if you exclude nineteen eighty-one and twenty twenty. Those shortened seasons the average leading war. Total on division winner is seven point one. Which is roughly mvp contender range. So generally a division winner has at least one guy who has some semi credible case to win an mvp award or a cy young award. At least he's going to get some votes. So that kind of calibrates the pace line but we wanna know how low you can go. The lowest leading were total on an al or and l. Division winner was will clark's four point two for the nineteen eighty-seven giants others on the list. At four point nine. Four or below..

Or is this just the Dodgers manipulating him before the All Star break, and we'll be fine. As soon as the break is over. I kind of think it might be that I kind of think so, too. I could go either way. They're already down One rotation member, and they're having a hard time filling the start, so I I suspected it could be something serious. I don't think so. So much They're gonna They're supposed to put David price in for that game. That signals to me. I think it might just be on one start issue, by the way, By the way, she will probably pitch of course Field in his first start after the break, So just be a little careful with his return. Kershaw. They they go to course, right after the break. They go to course, right after the break. Yes. Think the Dodgers in their overconfident way, and they have reason to be overconfident believe that they can kind of mess with their pitching and hitting and Bellinger and whatever all season long and still win the division. And I kind of agree like unless the Padres get some pitching. We don't know about that paddock effort last night was horrible. The Giants are probably not going to play at this winning percentage for the final three months. I think the Dodgers are like, all right, we don't need to win 100. But, you know, 93 wins this division probably, and then we're fine. And then Kershaw and the other guy and everybody, I kind of think they're just going to kind of mess with their roster for the final three months because they don't think they're in much danger. Certainly there are no danger of missing the playoffs, but I don't think they feel like they're in danger of winning the division either, do you? I feel like they should be projected to win it. I don't think it's a slam dunk. You know, It's really interesting for the fantasy managers, especially those in the head to head leagues is that if it does wind up being competitive, all the way to the end, which it might be, if they played the strategy, we will get maximum value out of everybody. We won't have those shutdowns in in, uh, in September, they'll be spread out across the year. That's better for us than I had to head leagues. So fantasy wise, Yeah. Interesting. Take Dodgers right now, Walker Buehler, Tony Gonsolin, Julio Aureus, or in the rotation. Probably David Price. They probably go with the bullpen game this weekend. I think they're gonna be well, that's the problem. Very interesting. Yeah, it's going to be really interesting to see what they do out of the break not only with Kershaw but with the right hander who won the Cy Young last year, because I don't know when he's pitching again. And now I'm starting to think that Somebody thinks this is a big deal. They of course it's a big deal. But I'm one of the Dodgers now believe that it's a big deal because I don't know. I'll get to that any time. Any time a player gets put put on the restricted list for any reason. I think he's officially allowed seven days and then but can extend seven more. But after that, you know he's got to be on the team. It winds up in such a gray area that I would prepare based on it being lengthy. That's I mean, we said that on Monday Quite a fall from grace from Adam Eaton, who is currently in limbo and unemployed. The White Sox don't want him anymore. Let me ask you about fill in White Sox players. Brian Goodwin, Gavin Sheets, Adam Angle Who's hitting He is hitting. He shouldn't be at this level, You know, to this degree. Um, Jake Burger. Maybe if he sticks around, um, any of these White Sox interesting to you in a deeper league? I did put a bid on Gavin Sheets was moderately impressed by his first week plus of major league action. I don't think there's some, you know any great things ahead, but he's getting pretty decent lineup opportunities. They're putting him second in the order on occasion. I I'm the guy who always goes and gets layering Garcia and my ale. Only leagues is my last guy. Just because the multi flexibility the fact that he could steal a base here there if he wants to beyond that, No, I I'm surprised that the White Sox are okay with leaving this many open spots aren't you know it? I get it with the eaten. It's just it's odd, considering the lack of depth in that outfield. How serious are you taking? Elroy Hymen is returning soon and producing at a level commensurate with what we expected. He starts a rehab assignment tomorrow. Tomorrow. Yeah. So he can be back this month? Yep. And I think he I'll put August 1st as the target date for fantasy expectations. I think it's going to take him a little time in major league games to get back to full speed. The hope here is that he is the fantasy monster for your head to head playoffs. I think there's a very real possibility that happens. I have gone completely the other direction from my plan and labor where you can cash in the player for for Fab money. I'm going to keep him around..

"The one to stand swung on and hitter. They edited blimp. That ball is high as far as god. It is a stand tony. Ian home run oddity touch off the deep left center field giancarlo known sequel stoke barlow. It's a two run blast. A blast or room blast a roof for stanton and the cream corn and the yankees. Beat the astro. Six to three. He went three for four hours. A single double had three. Rbi's hicks the lead single in the eighth inning jordan. Montgomery no decision but solid. Three runs over six innings. Here was a manager. Aaron boone on stanton who is dominating physically being in a good spot. Where he's he's on time a lot and you know letting the body then go out and cash the checks you know. Okay here's cash checks cut. I feel like when i came back to the studio came back to the body. Cash the checks there. You go here is stanton so what has changed other than your body cash. The checks the beginning of the year. I was getting pitches to hit. And and not squaring them up. So i'd say that's a the adjust. He also said he also admitted that. These pitchers lately have been making terrible mistakes by throwing fastballs. Right down the middle. I mean why would you ever throw him fast. I agree. I don't know why. Would you ever come anywhere near the middle of the plate. So mistake pitches for sure series finale. Today you've got garrett cole taking on lance mccullers junior yankees have won five straight and seven of eight yankee baseball on the fan coming up at twelve twenty five also of note from baseball you had last night. With the managers they were in seattle mariners. The orioles were in seattle mariners. And you got a no hitter from. John means which is Incredible the third one. We believe it is already this season which is Pretty wild here was means. Post game certainly emotional for. I can't put it into words right now. it's unbelievable. I don't even know what to say to be honest with you. Know felt okay all game. I didn't really have to change up to the end. And i'm glad i got it. Got it going. Holy face. Twenty seven batters. The one guy that got on it was a wild pitch on strike three. He was thrown out then second and so he was pretty impressive. Yesterday that close to a perfect game was on one hundred and thirteen pitches. Unlike joanna santana had three hundred dollars they asked john means about the diminishing of the no hitter because everybody throws one now. Jerry no not as not as special these days. John's still feel specialty. You is still special. Yes oh my god Anyhow and by the way you you always go to that. One hundred and thirty five pitches. That johansen tanna through nolan ryan. Threw two hundred pitches a game fame as santana ruined his career. Done right Phillies beat the brewers five four. Dd gregoria grand slam. The marlins us five pitchers beat the diamondbacks eight. Nothing they did a whole opener deal. I believe the raise did the same thing. Beat the angels. Three one brandon lau with three run homer in the seventh and with that with that it gets us to moment of the day which is brought to you by casa migos tequila cuss amigos to kill a brought to you by those who drink it and we found out earlier that the guys were discussing. "Can go out there and throws a couple of things. I think that's where the rays have an advantage you know. They're they're top couple. The couple of players probably aren't on the same par page with the yankees or the blue jays. But i think their their depth there you know fifteen through twenty six twenty six through forty really really helps them out and gives them a boost and i think that the rays again probably the homer in me a little bit. I think they find a way to make the playoffs. And i think they find a way to. I wouldn't say win the division but definitely secure a wild card spot and somewhere between the range of eighty eight to ninety. Two games is what. I'm looking for at least probably around that ballpark. As of right now we also have to remember. I mean the the rays have never really been known for their offense. That's never been. They're calling card but they're returning pretty much everybody in their lineup from last season and that was a team that almost averaged five runs a game and they might be able to do that this year. Especially if you get a full season. Healthwise from awesome meadows and brandon lau and Ignani d. as in you we we see what randy arena can do over a full season. So i think that's definitely going to help them as well so i think second the division i i would say if i was to rank it right now i'd probably say yankees one raise to blue jays three big back and forth between those three teams red sox and then five i mean who else but the orioles. Yeah i mean the red sox compete who knows the orioles might get some some young guys that play out of their out of their shoes and play a little bit. Better with the red sox. That'll be an interesting head to head interesting for for two fan bases but The so saying with the pitching before we get into a little bit more of the offense. Because i think the offense is really interesting. What are your expectations for tyler. Glass now we saw some good things from him. But i mean at this point he really does have to take over as that. A says that number one guy. Do you expect him one. Do you think that's a must. Does he have to come out there and dominate every time he gets the ball the majority of time since you have to clearly make himself that number one guy. And what are your expectations for tyler. Blasio yeah i think you know. Throughout spring training these story line has been him finding tunin his secondary stop. he's learned a slider which apparently looks pretty good. I guess it's a combination between a slider cutter in that is in compliment to his high nineties. Fastball in his twelve six curveball and he's twit around in the past with the change but really it's just a a slow fastball that allows hitters of time on it. It looks like i mean he's legitimately going to use this slider slash cutter into into regular season games which is huge to have that third pitch that. That's what you need if you wanna be an ace top of the rotation guy in this is his year. This is his opportunity. he's no longer Behind the scenes of flakes nail and charlie morton and others. This is his first opening day. Start and this is a year if you want to really light up and maybe get a contract extension or get that big boost in arbitration. You need to show out. I mean he's shown look he's got the stuff. He's got the talent to be an ace but he's not quite there yet. We've seen his postseason struggles. We've seen times where he gets. Hit a little bit and then He just loses his composure. It becomes a a a bad start. And we've seen that against bad teams like the orioles where he just for one reason or the other implodes and we also have to see him pitch a full season that that is something we have yet to see from him in arrays uniform. We sorta salt last year but he hasn't thrown more than one hundred eleven innings in a regular season. So you need this guide to. At least i think one fifty at you know twenty eight to thirty two starts. You need him to be available an out there every time and know. I think he's ready for it. He's he's been in baseball long enough. He's twenty-seven going on twenty eight years old. He's one of the union reps for the team. He's he's ready for the limelight. And i think he's going to have a lot of success but it's just about putting it all together for an entire season. We saw it in a little bit. We saw glimpses of it in in two thousand nineteen where he looked like he was going to win a cy young before. It went down with a forearm strain. So it's just about being able to continue that for regular season ended in the postseason to because that's still sort of a knock on his resume there but He's got to pick everybody else up to like. I mean you look at the this rotation and your number two is ryan yarborough and ryan yarbrough. Very good pitcher. He's he's a solid pitcher but he's been used in. A variety of roles is a book guy and opener. He lost his arbitration case. He doesn't give you necessarily the fire or the cachet of of another of other number two sorters in baseball. So if if tyler glass now can carry that load through game one or the first game of a series or whatever it be i. I think that's going to be critically important. Look i don't think he's going to win. A cy young this season but you know at least maybe garnering some votes. I think would be critical in huge. He's definitely capable of that. Assuming he stays healthy. I mean he's just he's he's just a freak athletically six foot eight with his arm. Length i mean he throws a ninety nine hundred.

charlie morton ryan yarborough Blasio fifteen ryan yarbrough Two games eighty forty last year twenty eight ninety five tyler twenty-seven first game three teams third pitch ninety nine hundred orioles this year
