"Any better this time around, either ty Gibbs, a controversial move to get the win. Let's be honest, Steve, I mean, does anyone, especially when you watch for the second time other than ty Gibbs think that that's a good move? Well, so, you know, it's funny. We could get asked to kind of at the blink of an eye analyze these situations. And sometimes when I watch a race back and like, miss that one a little bit, should have been this way. I should have been this way. I've watched this back 5 times. I said it on Saturday, I'll say it again. I'm just completely unimpressed with what the driver of the 54 decided to do in the closing laps. I was a little shocked. There was aggressive as they were on the restarts, almost celebrated it. Maybe we should be thankful that teammates are racing each other that hard. Yeah. But they're just flat, run a guy over by hitting him in the rear bumper, shipping him off into turn one. That is unimpressive. The celebration doubles down for me. If you really didn't mean to reckon as ty said, you should only move them. At some point, the situation should hit you and be like, wow, maybe doing a burnout all the way down the front stretch, and then egg in the crowd on isn't the double down is saying, whoops, I made a mistake. Not to mention that their teammates, not to mention what was on the line. I just, I'm having a hard time seeing any other angle other than disappointment from the 54 in this situation. I think the fact that there are two other people named Gibbs who didn't like what happened there. Yeah, correct. Says it all. I mean, Joe Gibbs said, you know, this is a learning experience for Thai. We hope you learned from it, but we certainly didn't want it. And coy Gibbs, Joe Gibbs Racing executive and ty's father said that he had talked about it and told ty. Hey, we're disappointed and you need to temper your aggression. I mean, I think what strikes me about this is in your points to be like the celebration and the lack of remorse, I mean, this is his family's team and he just took out a sponsor and he spent the entire year undoing everything he had done on this. So I'm gonna back up though. I don't see it that hope what? When is he gonna learn? When he punches the guy at Martinsville, when he swerves at the pit crew in the cup car, like it's been a year of mistakes out of this driver. I have yet to see the corner at all. So that raises another question. Is ty Gibbs? We all presume he's going to cup next year. As my announced yet, but is he ready to go to cup? Talent wise, yes, maturity not even close. And that's my assessment. Is he talented enough to be a cup driver? Absolutely. The kids unbelievable. He has all the talent. But the maturity in the heat of the moment. Swerving at a guy on pit road, right? I can oversee that. Reckon your teammate, not very good. Okay, one more. How many strikes? How many checkboxes do you have to have until you're just not, now listen, we're being harsh, he's a 20 year old race car driver, right? He's going to be great. He's going to be fine. Christopher Bell's 27. 7 years is a long time, right? He's only has a hundred races, a 27 years old. I mean, that's my point. And I like what coy had to say about we hope to make these mistakes at the lower levels. I do agree that we forget this is an Xfinity series. This is exactly where you should be learning. So, you know, and he's doing it on the spotlight because he's so good and because he does drive for his grandfather. But I'm frustrated with the well, we hope it gets better. We're going to talk to him. It's the same. You can take that press release and repeat it four or 5 times this year. I mean, at some point, I want something to change. And I'm disappointed because in qualifying, I thought to give the best interview ever, we said it right live on air. Yeah. He was like personable. He was himself. He's a great kid with a tremendous amount of talent. We just need to find a way to help his decision making. And now that is a learned task, we see it with a lot of athletes. You can learn about controlling yourself in certain situations. That would be what if I was in charge of ty Gibbs. If I worked at Joe Gibbs Racing, it wouldn't be about driving talent. I would go outside a golfer. People that have, you know, the emotion of the situation. That's what he has to get better at. Real quick, can it haunt him this weekend and the championship for Phoenix? I mean, I think it's fair to ask. He's racing against three other junior motor sports cars in the championship round. There's a fourth universe sports cars are now a 5th because Brandon Jones, even though he's driving for Gibbs this weekend, I mean, does he switch teams and make life really hard on tigers? I don't see why he wouldn't. So I think that his path to the title does get a little bit harder. Beware of the heartbroken. And I say that because Brandon Jones didn't get out mad, furious, throwing things. We see drivers say that all the time and then never follow up with what they say. What I saw was a driver who was heartbroken, who got consoled by his partner and his chance at the championship is gone. You don't get over that anywhere near as quickly as you get over anger. So be very, very careful. I'd be weary of the heartbroken on that 19 year old driver. He looked heartbroken to me. And when we come back, we will talk about the championship four and all the permutations they're in, Xfinity and cop, they'll decide a champion this weekend. We'll preview what these guys think coming up next. Nate Steve walked us through the busy weekend schedule, but I mean it's packed the whole week, isn't it? I know how

"He's ready. He's ready to show the world what he can do. And I find it, I think he's just an exceptional talent. And he's got the right mindset. He's focused on racing and he's intently paying attention all the time. And he's just good. And he's only going to get better. And then mainly when I look at him in his eye and I've known him for a long time, he's super confident, I belong here, Christopher Bell. He's always been a little bit to me not exceptionally confident. Like question his self a little bit. I don't see that at all today. When I look at when I look at Christopher Bell and talk to Christopher Bell, he knows he belongs here. He believes he can win this championship. Not a question in my mind. And I think when you take that much talent, add experience, confidence, they become very, very dangerous. Do you think some of that insecurity might have been the fact that he didn't come from the stock car background? He's not used to running the longer races. It was a sort of a matter of getting accepted. Like the talent was always there. It just needed the experience. Also, contrary to what a lot of our fans based think. You don't get here without being successful. And you also don't get here without help. And if you not successful, you're not going to be here. And he knows that. And so there's always this insecurity of do I belong? Can I make it? And if you're not, then you're arrogant. Because you're going against Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin. Think about who is in his own team that he has to be. That's a lot to ask. And you know, he's found a way to do it. So I think that some of his past insecurities are just the simple, this is hard. And if I don't make it, what am I doing the rest of my life? And I think that a lot of race car drivers have that. What do you think that team has in terms of being not just driver? He's clutch, but I mean, Adam Stevens had to make two critical pit calls to win both of these races as well. He said, two time champion crew chief, maybe it's that simple, but does that team have something extra? So a little bit of it has been, they had no choice. Yeah, true. True. And I don't mean that any disrespect. I have so much respect for Adam Stevens. But we talk a little bit about how I don't believe it's an advantage, but it does give you a clear path of what you have to do when you're in must win situations. Chase Briscoe doesn't stay out on an old tires if he wasn't in a must win situation. So some of those strategies get your situation forces you into making them. So no disrespect to Adam Stevens at all. But it kind of laid out there for him. I got to do this. And then he made the right call. He didn't stay out on all tires. He decided to pit. And I'm going to put my guy on offense. But there's no advantage in not being ahead in points. You know, but there is, but it does clear the pathway for your decision sometimes. So you mentioned it earlier, Denny Hamlin. I mean, if you would have told Denny Hamlin, you're going to win both stages. You're going to finish 5th in this race. I think he would have liked his chances of advancing. But I mean, bell seizes the moment when no other way to say this, Hamlin's pit crew pretty much fumbles this away. I mean, it looked like Denny Hamlin's position to win this race until the number 11 crew had three fairly mediocre stops. Denny Hamlin's still without a championship. Now he's not going to be in the championship round for the first time since 2018. Empathy for Pamela's gone through here? Yes. Yes. They're really good race team. He's a he's really good race car driver. In position, doing his job, and they just didn't deliver. And it's just that simple. I mean, pit road is vital. And you have to have a good pit stops. And you have to deliver when the moment's big. And they just didn't. I mean, it's just that simple. They didn't deliver. And the lost track position. And it was very difficult to pass until tires were old. Once tires roll, we saw a lot of passing. But it took a while for that to happen. And kept losing those spots. And it wasn't enough time left in a race to make them up. And so yeah, I have a lot of empathy for Denny Hamlin. He's a Hall of Fame race car driver that made everyone win a championship. And who knows what would have happened, but certainly we do know this if he would have had better pit stops he'd had a much better shot. It is a team sport. And we take pit crews for granted. They're the special teams of NASCAR. I mean, you expect to feel goal kicker to kick 38 yard field goal. It's not as easy as they make it look. They worked really hard. It gives pit crews. They were all the news early in the year. They've changed the way they're doing things. And they went all in on pit stops and it looked like their strategy was, we got beat. We lost the championship because pit stops and we're not going to have that happen again and they went all in on pit crews and it didn't work out. It wasn't from lack of effort, but it just worked out for Bill, but it didn't work out for gay part. And I had to leave Chris skateboard too, because I have so much respect for Chris and he's a racer's racer and I'm a huge fan of his love talking to him. I get smarter every time I talk to him and I have a lot of empathy for him as well. He's got that perfect blend of like old school racer and new school engineer. Yeah, I really like Cruz. So moving on, another driver you might feel some empathy for going back to the Saturday Xfinity race. Brandon Jones gets clobbered by his teammate ty Gibbs on the last restart ty Gibbs won the race, Brandon Jones gets eliminated from the championship four. Joe Gibbs and coy Gibbs both address this afterward, Joe Gibbs said that every week is a learning experience for Thai. He hopes he learns from that that Joe Gibbs Racing didn't want this to happen. Coy Gibbs, who, of course, is tide Gibbs father, said that they were disappointed and that he's told ty, he needs to temper his aggression. Looking forward to Phoenix now, Jeff. How do you think this plays out? I mean, ty Gibbs is already racing against three junior motor sports cars. There's a fourth car. And now there's Brandon Jones who's going to be racing for junior motor sports next year is ty Gibbs maybe racing

"Here a while. How did you find that? Another would be trading videos. They're so deeply fact checkers. Brandon Jones, we're kidding. Okay, that's not a real trading video. That's actually Jim doing what Jim does under there. Black checkers, Bill Dee McCarthy, Kurtz and Louis Jacobson, calm down. Call the stop wedding yourself. Change your diabetes. That way we're just kidding. That's not real. The other one, however, is a real training video. As indicated by the IRS, they called it quote a recruitment tool, and it was called a training and recruitment exercise. Fact checkers. Whenever a fact checker tells you something is false, you know it's true then. Then you know it's true. And then you know it's time to double down. I would have stopped talking about this story. But because fact checkers decided to double down, I decided to triple them. We could play this game all day. My voice is bigger than you. I know that pisses you off and I love it. I piss you off? No, I'm serious. I'm dead serious. Is that really good under your skin? 'cause I love every second of it. We keep this going all day. 8 and a half million listeners, probably the second biggest conservative Facebook page, the biggest show on Saturday night. Oh, you're bragging. I'm not bragging I'm just telling you the truth. You want to eff around with me and find out where you'll find out. I will make you look like the fools you are every single day when audience 20, 30, 40, 50, a hundred times larger than yours. Play around, find out. You'll find out. The more you talk, the more I talk. And it only gets uglier for you, because I got this thing on my side. I called the facts. Which is odd, because you claim to be fact checkers. All right. Listen, this is kind of serious time on the show. So, you know, I went through kind of a health crisis. We don't need to relitigate the whole thing. It's not some sob story. Everybody's got their own health problems to deal with themselves, right? But the unique health crisis I went through mentioned say unique, it's a terrible word. Most overused word in the English language. But it involved my immune system. And one of the problems with having a compromised immune system during the initial stages of COVID was, you know, I was afraid. I was afraid I'm not ashamed to tell you that. I was afraid at the time given the chemotherapy and all, and the fact that I, my immune system was at some point, it's almost nonexistent. Before you get that new last type shot, you get a couple days where you have very little natural defense. You have to almost kind of quarantine yourself. I got nervous and I got scared and I said to myself, even though I know science is a longitudinal chronological process, and I knew I should have held out on the vaccine before the data and the time had passed where we could see the data over at long-term, I got the vaccine and I got the double shot. And I regret it. I regret it because as I read actual data now coming out that winds up bypassing the left censorship machine that wants to hide to you one of the greatest medical experiments that I don't mean greatest in a good way. Ever done an American history. That is information starts to trickle out now and bypass the censorship machine at YouTube, Google, Twitter, and elsewhere. A lot of Americans are starting to say what I'm saying. Hey, listen. Was this thing worth the risk? I want you to listen to this cut from the Tucker Carlson show talking about some research that came out about some developing side effects about the vaccine. And you'll see why I'm so upset at myself for not applying to Bon Gino rule. You know, wait, and let the facts work about. I didn't do that. You know, check this out. Blink to neurodegenerative disease, myocarditis, bell's palsy, liver disease, impaired adaptive immunity, impaired DNA damage response, et cetera. So it's possible, in fact, it's looking likely that the vaccine might suppress the immune system. This fact to the authors concluded will quote have a wide range of consequences, not the least of which include the reactivation of latent viral infections and reduced ability to effectively combat future infections

"To be key and I just fund the tires a little bit there and couldn't get to put the pressure on Williams back bumper like Brandon Jones did the night before. So it was in my mind. I think I had the right strategy. I just did an execute it very well but looking back we were probably the second best car and most of the night we were probably the best car especially in the long run just William did a really good job and his team and our team did too. So I'm pumped about what's to come, but I enjoyed the race. I don't know what everybody's talking about. I thought it was a good one. I let every lap in New Hampshire one time. I thought it was awesome. Yeah. I still read today. That was the worst ever in the history of mankind. I'm like, so it's all the beauty is in the eye of the holder, right? But Austin, so one thing I've noticed about what you and your team have done is over the years, you guys have worked on all your weaknesses. You've done a ton of work on road courses. You've done a ton of work on short tracks. And that started to pay off, but how much work have you put in to get to where you guys are today? It's a lot and I did mention it after the race, you know, we've been grinding away at any type of opportunity we get to put the work in and the simulator, man, we've done a good job, you know, going back a couple years now, like you said in the road courses, going to coda and off season, running. Anything I can get in on a road course is really helped our program there. And I know when it comes to short track stuff, you know, I trusted the Chevrolet sim. I mean, they've done a really good job with our simulator. We're trying to build deltas that relate at the track. And it's paying off. It really is and we just put a lot into that and I think my guys are really good at creating with me during practice. I think that's one. If I look at any kind of strong point we've had this year, qualifying has been okay. It's not been great for us. You know, I struggle with getting out after qualifying and not being where I think we should be, but we do make really good adjustments going into the race to make our car competitive and we're always going forward instead of backing up. So staying positive is a big part of that mindset. Hey, Austin, you mentioned the Chevrolet sim and it's certainly not just the Hendrick Chevrolet as we're talking about. We're talking about track house. We're talking about you and Tyler Reddick at Richard Trevor's racing. How much is that increased emphasis that it seems like we've seen this year from Chevrolet in the engineering side and that strength in numbers with limited practice, you guys, I would think have more data to kind of sift through on the Chevrolet side, how much is it everybody sort of working more together for Chevy? You're definitely a togetherness in the Chevy camp. I think Eric Warren moving over to that role was really pushed for that and done a good job getting all of us in line to be.

"Brandon. Appreciate it, bud. Hopefully you can win a hundred grand for him and enjoy his off weekend. Here's what we want to do. We want to rip through as many calls as we can. So just make your point as quickly as possible, we'll get Kyle to be as quickly as quick as he can as well. And we'll start with NASCAR. Can't promise that. NASCAR will finally hear we get you on in segment four. What's going on NASCAR? Not much. And like you said, real quick. Ty, you're going to raise this kind of style. You got to expect it back. Kyle, you talked about leadership. Joe gives you let's things play out. He doesn't really get on the drivers. What do you feel? What should he do in this situation tied? Just let it play out or what do you feel Joe Gibbs responsibility is handling this should be? I don't think he has as much responsibility in this as NASCAR does. I think NASCAR has to nip this at some point in time. So I think Joe gets to be the grandfather in this case and just talk to Tom. I don't think it's Joe's job to pull him back. It shouldn't be the owner's job to pull the driver back. You want to kick that driver and keep him going forward. So ty's doing good from that perspective. Chandler and Indy, what's on your mind? Well guys, what's on my mind is about joy Leonard how close he was to being the 8th different winter this year. The same thing repeated itself, you know, like a year earlier. It became the first multiple winner in 2021. And now William Byron has done the same thing. So look at how Logano did in Martinsville. Do you think that for the first time ever, he will soon. For the second year in a row, he will win the Bristol dirt race this weekend. Stevie, what do you think? What do you think? You know, Logano wins a lot of firsts. Not a lot of seconds. So I'm looking for a different winner. I thought he did a great job at Bristol on the dirt, but I have no idea what to expect. I think moving it to Sunday Night is going to race a little different than he did during the day. Interesting. And this new car too on dirt. I mean, who knows what we're going to expect? Stewart freeze has been doing all the testing. He's been doing a great job, but who knows what's going to happen, right? We mentioned Xfinity off this weekend. There's still plenty of motor sports going on this weekend. You make sure you want to check out everything and then the Dell junior download as well right here on peacock. Look, a busy week. A lot of stuff happening. This weekend, Supercross Atlanta Kyle will be there if you want to check it out..

"So great drive or getting back in the car. I know he ended up an accent, but looking forward. I was just on Nate Ryan on his podcast and we discussed what the upcoming 6 8 weeks looked like leading into the speedway as a driver of the IndyCar Series with so much success. Where do you think he stacks up as far as his ability with an injured hand? Can he run barber should he be okay? Where does the physicality of Long Beach verse somewhere like the speedway or when he gets to somewhere like Indianapolis should the hand be okay? Well, I mean, if we're talking just the speedway, yeah, I think he could race there tomorrow with his hand the way it is. Honestly, the nature of that track, how smooth it is and the type of physicality is quite a bit different. So I don't think it'd be a problem. The problem is we have barber and the indie GP before that, two very fast, high-speed road courses, not as aggressive on the steering wheel. As you see at a street circuit, you know, the bumps that are Long Beach or Saint Peter or Detroit can be a big challenge when you're dealing with an injury like that. But I think he's going to be okay. I mean, we saw Charlie Kimball break his hand a few years ago. He got surgery and was back in a race car a week later. So the fact that Jimmy Eaton competed in Long Beach shows that, you know, he's strong enough. It's not bothering him too much in the car. And so I think he'll be good by the time we get to Barbara, we do have a little bit of a break now and certainly by the speedway, you know, where I know everyone's excited to see what Jimmy can do, especially after that run in Texas, he's going to be okay. You know what I've learned. This goes down the long list of things I've always said. You can take this as a compliment or not. Race car drivers far from normal. Brakes are hand to go race. So I love Jimmy, great friend of mine. He could easily tap down, but nope, nope, he won the stone race. You guys are, you guys are not normal. Well, there's no doubt. He's not updated anything today, by the way. But yeah, you're not normal, are you hinge? Crazy. Crazy. We're wired differently. I've always said that about racing drivers. We're a little off. But I thought it was awesome that Jimmy wanted to still compete and just let's see how bandage it up. Let's tie it up and let's go, man. We got work to do. Hey, hints. We have fantastic news. I think we fixed our phones. So we're gonna get a couple phone calls in with you if you're cool with that. We'll try this. So James, you're on with James. Go ahead, James and New York. What do you got for James Hinchcliffe? Hey, how you doing? And one James to another. I wanted to ask, have you ever thought about getting back into an IndyCar for a test at Daytona and the Charlotte Louisville to see if there's a possibility maybe that IndyCar compete at those two roval tracks someday? Hey, James, yeah. Thanks for the question. I mean, if the opportunity came up, absolutely. I think explored new venues is always a great thing for the sport. And I know when they first opened up the rover that Josef Newgarden actually was there for some demo laps in an IndyCar. So it's been done. And the Daytona road course, man, that would be a wild track for an indie car race. Don't you think? Yeah, I think that would be a little insane. The speeds on the banking would be a little fun to watch, but that'd be a little tight as well. So it would be fun to watch. Hey, we did 24 hours there in imsa. So I figured we could do one Indy car race there. Let's go to ray in Connecticut. You're on with James Hinchcliffe, right? What's going on? Guys, how you doing? Good, what's happening? Well, thanks, how are you? How you doing? So James, think about Long Beach in cold and hard of running well. Bad pitch upsets them back. Poor strategy or kind of flukey strategy at national set them back and then you look out Rossi at saint Pete and he was kind of struggling at Long Beach. At what point do you strategy issues become a worrying trend Andretti needs to make some changes to get the results? I mean, I think every team is going to be always looking at what they can do better and certainly after a weekend like Long Beach. You know, that team can look and find quite a few things they need to improve on. Certainly. But the strategy part of it is a tough one man because all it takes is a yellow flag falling at the wrong time and what should be the working or winning strategy kind of gets blown up like what happened to cold and Nashville, you know, Colton's issues and Long Beach. I don't think we're really a strategy call. It was a botched pit stop. It was a little slow. He had that similar sort of issue in saint Pete by not getting all the fuel in the car. So it's really just about going back to basics. I think it's really analyzing how you can go through protocols and steps throughout the race weekend to make sure you eliminate these small mistakes that put this team in a position that have to be digging themselves out of a hole when accidents like this can happen. So I don't think it's panic button time yet at Andretti Autosport, but it's definitely, you know, reflection time and taking a look inside it and what they can do better to execute on race days. Yeah, and I think two hands have got some quality control issues that need to address. I got to make sure those don't show up for the month of May. I got to ask about Kyle's favorite new favorite IndyCar driver, Romain Grosjean. Finish the second. I spent time with him at the next car Hall of Fame when they came when he worked with Hoss and stuff. So yeah, so he finished a second. So thoughts, give me some thoughts on him, man. He's my guy right now. You know, I was a great end of the race for him. He kind of had just a steady first half and what they did that ended up being a really, really great call was they had their set of sticker red saved for the end of the race. A lot of teams that used or use their stick reds in that first stint. Most drivers didn't want to start or even run the used reds at all. He committed to those early, which means he was going to have to run those sticker reds. It was going to be a long stint, but that yellow flag that we had near the end there. It shortened that stint up and it really allowed him to maximize those tires and push a little harder at the beginning of those stints who saw him get by below and we saw him get oh so close to Josef Newgarden there. So it was a really heads up drive. It was a really gutsy call from the 28 guys to start on the used red. So all in all, rewarded with the podium for taking a bit of a risk and executing a really good race on Sunday. So there you go. Some tire options. I've been saying it for years. No one listens to me. They try to be all star race. They said it won't work out. It was great. I thought. That's.

"Been too good at too many places. And this week, Daniel Suarez, not good chesting good. So I'm not even willing to say, oh, track outside of figured out, no. Found that. Ross Chastain had to figure it out. Yeah, so but I want to say this. We do this show on Mondays, okay? So if we go back if we, if you go from Daytona all the way through, the usual suspects, the Kyle Busch is the Denny Hamlin's the Kevin Harvick. Yeah, Joey Logano, the Martin Truex is, they seem to be over here and we're talking Tyler Reddick, Ross Chastain, Daniel Suarez, William Byron. I mean, it's like there has been a shift in the power structure of who's good or who's consistent and who we're talking about. And who we used to talk about. And it's the same teams. It's Penske, okay? It's Hendrick. It's the same teams. There's just been a shift in the power structure in the structure inside the teams. It seems like for whatever reason. And I can't explain it. I mean, I don't understand. In a car, you would think. Well, coming up a little bit later in the show, Brandon Jones, Xfinity series, winner, Martinsville hill join us at 6 45, but next, our buddy James Hinchcliffe will be here to talk about one of The Crown jewels in IndyCar, the Long Beach Grand Prix, Josef Newgarden, the winner, there's the mayor he's going to hang out with us next. Here's Josef Newgarden making that long trip down pit lane off the button as Alex pelos coming down shoreline. There's pillow in the blue car. Here's Newgarden Newgarden. Got a push. Can you go ahead and hang on? Where will I make the move into turn four? He's not close enough. And that's dicey through there anyway. Yeah, wait till turn 6. Joe's always going to try to find this. Slight contact is on the outside for ten 6. It's balance and you got it here at this left hander coming up. Still there. Still there. This is the battle for the win right here. Here comes below for another run. Joseph defending right away driving through the marvel bull drivers on the fun pillow is going to have slightly better tires, but no. Joseph defensive enough. He's got one good opportunity left trying to get a good run off the hairpin here, but it's great one from Newgarden. I don't know if he got it. What a drive from Josef Newgarden. Spectacular. Josef Newgarden is a Long Beach road winner. It's been a while. Thank you. Josef Newgarden wins back to back races for the first time in 5 years. And this is a fight today. This is not an easy race to win. I don't know if it looks simple from the outside, but I was working my butt off with Grosjean at the end there on the used reds. You know, we knew we coming into the race. We have a good strategy. We make good fuel with team Chevy, where we're gonna be all right. And I had everything I needed to do with pit stops as you saw trying to get around Alex, so so proud of Team Penske. I've been trying to win a race here for 11 years, so I'm so happy to finally get it done. Voice.

"Welcome to NASCAR America motor mouse Marty Snyder, Steve LAT Kyle Petty here hanging out with you today, boys. There are a lot to unpack from the world of motor sports. That's ready to bring my notes. I know that you start with Long Beach, you got Martinsville, all kinds of stuff going on, but coming up on the show today, the mayor James Hinchcliffe will join us here in the mayor of Hinch town. I should qualify that because he will be here to talk about Josef Newgarden's big win at Long Beach in IndyCar. Plus Brandon Jones will be here as well to talk about his Xfinity series win at Martinsville course we want to hear from you guys at home 8 four four NASCAR NBC is the number to call in to chat with us or you can chat with our guests as well. So fellas, let's discuss the good, the bad and the ugly from Martinsville this weekend. But let's start with the good. Let's turn on the positive side of things. William Byron comes home first multiple time winner in 2022. Kyle, he said last week, if you were going to build Hendrick motor sports, you would build it around William Byron. I'm not sure if you saw the multiple wins coming, but now listen, chase Elliott and Kyle Larson. That's right. And in all fairness chase Elliott still leading the points here. But at what point is William Byron making? A statement is he making so far this year? That he can win anywhere. I think in this car and he and Rudy together. I think that's the big thing. I want to go and let me I'm going to clarify that because I get so many hate tweets. No, no. And Steve will understand what I'm trying to say. Kyle Larson is on record as saying. I just drive a car. I don't know how to work on it. I don't know anything about it. I just get in it and just wheel it. And he may be one of the greatest whale man ever. We embarrass Jeff Gordon. He understands the car. He moves the ball forward. He can help you as a crew chief. Take that card to a different place. Kyle Larson depends on you to get that car where he needs it. And that's what I mean. That's why.

"Currently in Atlanta, heading to Charlotte soon and every point in between, I guess. Yeah, yeah. And you know, it's going to be fun. This has been a good journey for us so far. You always go into a road trip, not knowing how the kiddo is going to do. We took our dogs with us as well. That's always our dogs aren't the best at situations like that. So we were really nervous about that. But everybody did great. So far, in Atlanta, we're almost there. We're about a four hour drive away. Just waiting for the moving stuff to get there for us to head that way. Everybody's done good. So it's been a really good trip so far. We're very excited and it's going to be fun. Awesome. How about that Ryan Blaney interview? We talked Star Wars. We talked playoffs. We talked next gen car. I packed a lot in those ten minutes. You did. You usually do, and you did yet again. So I'm proud of you. You did a good job. It's awesome to hear Ryan Blaney on the show yet again as he chases just an all guy as the all time. Most interviewed person on this show. He was very interested to know that and wants to be on more now, so that's cool. Yeah, that is good, so maybe we'll be hearing more Ryan Blaney in the near future. We'll see. We'll see, but it's always good to get the drivers involved in our little inside stuff here on the show. Yeah. Because they're busy, they don't realize they don't expect us to say stuff like that. And they have so many interviews they do during the year anyway that I'm sure it's hard for them to really keep track mentally of which ones they've been on a lot. Even if they've talked to you a lot, have a good report and stuff. I'm sure they don't fully realize how many times they've actually talked to one single person or one single show. I'm sure that makes them feel like, oh man, this is actually significant. I've done quite a few. This is pretty cool. Yeah, yeah. I think your only reason why Justin is leading is because he before Ryan Blaney was even on driver. So, yeah. At least in the upper things of NASCAR, as Justin was down in the Xfinity series, then he went to cop, back down, et cetera. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. But, you know, I mean, it's been good, because even though he has hit all those different things, all guy are always seems like he likes being a part of this show. So that's awesome. Definitely, definitely. All right, let's get into some news of the week from tobee Christie dot com. We begin with Brandon Jones back at JGR. Yeah, so this was the big question mark because there's a lot of change going on.

"Justin Haley 11 team. But I will say that Justin Haley has a lot of experience. We think about Justin as a young driver, just like sit a lot of them in this series. Trying to earn himself get himself two the final four and he did that last year, right? He did that last year. He's been there. He's done that. This is not new to him that experience can be very beneficial. But they're going to need to be better than they've been. They're going to need to find a way to bring some speed. If you look at all of these teams, and you start looking at who's been good lately, there's a lot of top tens in the last ten races from all of these guys. That's not going to cut it. You're not going to have enough people make mistakes you're going to have to bring speed. That's the question about this team. Can they bring the speed to these next three tracks? How about Daniel Hamrick, Texas Kansas Martinsville would seem to be in his Wheelhouse. That team has been puzzling to me all year long. They've shown the speed of the regular JGR cars, maybe the best of that speed. They can't seem to get there. They can't seem to finish a race. And we brought it up today, could they could a championship be one without winning a race? I just don't see how you don't win a race and win a title. I don't see how you can not win Phoenix and win the championship unless we get a situation where the 54 car is in the race. That car has been the best car in the series all year long. Maybe that's a situation where you could run second to the 54 car and win the championship. You know, I agree with your I think the Daniel Hamrick has had a lot of speed, and he has a second most amount of points earned on mile and a half this year. And we have two mile and a half, and he cut his teeth as all these young drivers did. But he had a lot of success at short tracks. And I watched him in the spring race at Martinsville. He sat there and rode around rode around rode around and got time to go. He had saved his tires and all he went. I rode too long and they get a chance to win a race, but I think he learned something in that process. Yeah, I think Daniel Hamrick and this team have a really good chance to transfer out this ramp. You look at their stage wins, Jeff, 9 stage wins this year. That's as many as Austin syndrome. They just can't convert the second half of the race. That's their biggest issue. And they gotta figure out how to do that. And how do you get over that? Sure. In three races. How do you get over that three races? Now, a lot of times when drivers have trouble winning a race and they win that first one, then the pressure's off. The pressure comes off. But yes, from a speed standpoint, this thing should feel really good about where they are. Click listen, they don't have to win. Get into the next round of the playoffs. Right. They don't have to. If they do what they've been doing, they'll get to the next round of playoffs. They're close enough in points. They're fine. If they do what they've been doing, they need to gain one point over the next three races. I think they can do that with the people that are competing against. Noah Gregson, talking about a couple of JR M cars. They had great momentum coming into the playoffs, but they just haven't been that great since then. What do you think about J RM and Noah Gregson? They've been the opposite of Daniel Hamrick in the 18. Yep. Like what they've been able to do. They have not put themselves in position to win as many races by any means as Hamrick ads, but when they've been in position they've executed. They've won races. They won Darlington..

"Except. He doesn't have it championships, Jeff. What's ahead? He didn't have that championship. Well, you had it last year. Yeah, I know. I don't know. Championships. He won it last year. All right, big Brad. We'll see you in Texas. Great hanging out here today, man. Well, look forward to it can't wait. Hi, Brad daugherty joining us today on motor mouse when we come back. Jeff and I'll talk a little Xfinity action coming up this weekend in Texas. Here's the NASCAR Xfinity playoff leaderboard as we kick off the round of 8. Those are the 8 drivers left in the mix. AJ almandinger Austin Cedric, they've been the dominant guys all year long both with 5 wins trying to win a championship. It would be syndrich back to back titles that he would win. Jeff, let's kind of do the same thing we did with the Cup Series side. Start with the bottom. We'll start with Brandon Jones. He's 14 points out right now, but honestly, really two of his best tracks to start the playoffs with Texas and Kansas. 100%, he's really good on my a half. Had some winds of Kansas. Yeah, I mean, to me, this whole playoff grid is really interesting because of what you just said. I can look, I can look and make a real case that Brandon Jones this round really is favorable for him. He's run okay at Martinsville as well. So although I think Brandon Jones is probably he and Justin Haley are probably 7th and 8th in the rankings. Right. Over the entire year of how they run, this round plays favorable for brand. And so I can make a real case so you can transfer out. And we're talking to him next and I'm going to ask him this question, but if you throw him into the championship four mix at Phoenix, remember, he wanted Phoenix a couple of years ago and beat Kyle Busch in the process to do it. So he's no slouch in that scenario either. Exactly. He could win the title if he gets there. It's a legit thing. So Harrison, obviously, how do you feel about the 20 program right now and shaping up for the round of 8? This is when they absolutely went off last year. What he went two of the three races and yeah, I mean, you could be a threat again. Yeah, and I think that, again, this mixes it up and when I look at his finishes on my own a half, they've all been really good or horrible. He has two finishes. He has two finishes in the 30s, where he got in Rex a little bit all the other finishes, a lot of top 5s and other finishes on my own a half. What this team doesn't do well is they don't get early stage points. But they.

"NASCAR needs to be more lenient in parts and pieces hanging off the race car. And here's why I say that. These races, we run on these racetracks because the action the fans like is bumping beating shoving. And when you do that, you're gonna have body parts hanging off the race car. So I think that NASCAR needs to be more lenient on road courses and on short tracks than they are at two mile mile and a half two and a half mile race tracks. That's my opinion, but they need to be consistent with it. And that is where the complication comes in if they're not consistent that when fans go like, hey, wait a minute. Why aren't you consistent? But my take on this is I don't think they've been inconsistent. You can find a thing 16, 40 years ago. But in recent history, I think they've been pretty consistent on this. All right, so here's what I would love to do. I want to spin through as many Cup Series drivers as we can. I want to get through the whole field. We'll try to do it with the Xfinity as well. Coming up here in a bit. And let's talk about the round of 8. Can they make it to Phoenix? And Brad will start with you. We'll begin with Brad Keselowski as we look at the championship leaderboard. He's on the bottom heading into Texas this weekend. So what about Brad Keselowski? You know, they've done enough to get by, Brad, throughout these playoffs, but I think getting by is not going to get you through to Phoenix. What's your thought on the two team? Yeah, you know, I have to agree. I'm shocked that Brad is in this position. I didn't think there was any way in heck that two car would make it to the round of 8. So that speaks to his ability his talent that that team in particular. You know, the thing it's been all season for the Penske boards, as well as the Stuart Haas force the Fords in general has just been that lack of speed and pace that we've talked about ad nauseam. And I think, you know, we go to the Texas this weekend. Well, these guys, even with the package, you're gonna beat the mail around that place and I think that it's gonna be tough. I think brand's gonna have a tough day. Speed wise, maximizing velocity. And, you know, they got lucky at the rover a couple times and were able to have a decent day, but I think it's gonna come to an end. Once we get to Texas. Jeff, what about Joey Logano? Man, they had a nice round of 12, and they got themselves up in the points, and then it all got eliminated when they now they're 11 behind. So do they make it to Phoenix for the shot to win the title? So this round, I think is the round they hate the most because they have not been good with the low horsepower, high down force package. That's been a problem for them. All year long, Brad.

"I feel like he's allowed to do whatever he wants. I don't attract just like where his bumper was just barely hanging on. NASCAR, that Mikey can come to pit road and fix the bumper damage. And you go back to last year, Kansas where you had radio trouble and they didn't do nothing about that. And I hear people play and you know, go back to Bristol, or they say, oh, there is two more laying Harvard could have got around you, but there's no way that would have been able to pass him on Elliot and just come out pit road with a lot fresher tires and Harvey. He couldn't. Hey, Justin, I got a question for you. Yeah. Are you a Kevin Harvick fan? Okay, I just want to make sure I feel like I was talking. I feel like we were here in comments from a Harvey fan. Look. Here's what I think. Like, Kevin Harvick said, I reckon. Yeah. I mean, made it clear, right? But NASCAR has a history, Brad's been around a sport for a long time. NASCAR has a history of two drivers of racing each other of staying out of it. So no Kevin Harvick shouldn't have been suspended. Now Kevin Harvick's three or four laps down. It comes out attention. That's a whole different thing. But that's not what happened. Kevin Harvick shouldn't have been suspended. Kevin Harvick felt like that chase Elliott, cost him a chance to win at Bristol, so Kevin Harvick said, okay, I'm gonna cost you a chance to win today. And you may not like it. You may think you'll fans may won't NASCAR to get involved. I understand it. But this is consistent with what NASCAR has always done. Again, Brad, you've been in this sport for as long as I have. What do you think? Yeah. 100%. I mean, you know, racing hard. Yeah, we all know Kevin Harvick had opportunity to win that race at risk. It was taken away from it. This was coming. He said I reckon he owned up to it. I do think it's over with now. But yeah, this was in competition. This was in the heat of the battle. I agree a 100%. He had every right to use whatever he needed to use and try to get by. He didn't get buying erecting, but he owned up to it. So I think it's over with now. I think one good shot deserves another. And I think it's fair. And we'll move on from here. The one thing I do want to address is that the bumper situation, which a lot of people have brought up shouldn't ask are thrown the black flag and made chase Elliott come to pit road to fix that bumper in your opinion. No, I don't think they should have because of the style of racetrack that we were on. I think that good point. And still at Phoenix and a road course, NASCAR needs to be more lenient in parts and pieces hanging off the race car. And here's why I say that. These races, we run on these racetracks because.

"Some drivers are safe, no drivers are comfortable. Any of these drivers have an issue. They're going to lose enough points to eliminate themselves from the playoff and you come to a difficult racetrack like the role. Somebody drivers have said this might be one of the hardest tracks they ever go to. Not a difficult, the most difficult. Of course, mentality just save a few all day. Got one fundraiser today at the rebels. Let's talk about go get it done. I have a good day. I was either going to count ready ready, not really good. We're underway at the role. Martin junior dropping back to the field. We see him struggling losing position. Hey, a copy of the plan. I think we're terrible race car we saw him. He was awful, so I have no idea what we did for past races here where we typically been pretty decent. But it was just absolute garbage. Big penalty dope first playoff guy to make a mistake the 20 of Christopher Bell that we were too fast. Yes, we got to do a pass through here. Ultimately, we just weren't good enough. Made a lot of mistakes out there and but we just weren't fast enough. Oh, it's spinning by Brad Keselowski. Contact from the rear bumper. The 48 huge Brad. He's ready for points. He needs these points. All right, so a little update from what I'm saying. I do not think we have an alternator. It was recovering. There's no longer recovering. I'm 13 now. Who's going to give right here? Chase takes the position away. What a move by Chase Elliott. Chase Elliott Wednesday. A big development issue for Kyle Larson. They are losing bolts on the 5 car as well. What do you do? Good for a battery. It is shocking. The Kyle Larson can be in this position. Kyle Larson, the most wins by any driver this season is below the cut line right now. He is ten points down. Battery situation for Alex Bowman, not getting any better. I'll point the stuff stop working. Hopefully, we have enough time. They're pretty early. We knew we had a multi issue, and it acted like it through the bell. Don't know what we had going on, but unfortunately, it's tough to make a car live long here without any break fans entire cooling. The four car Kevin Harvick struggling to try to keep this car underneath him he's gonna have to give up the spot to chase. Oh wait. Get a little more aggressive than that. Kyle Busch he's going to end up winning stage two after putting an alternator belt on. They hope that they have that fix. We are, we are we're good. William Byron, his team, you got to give him credit. They have to win and they're in the best position they could have asked for right now. If he were to win the point battle or be crazy. The 9 is around a lot of damage to chase Elliott. Yeah, the 9 is destroyed. It is. Oh, the contact between him. Look at the front bumper of the four car of Kevin Harvick. Was that the payback from Bristol? Sometimes real life teaches you good lessons. That puts the man man safe. They have to address and evaluate the damage to this car and be able to see how they can improve fan speed, maybe rebound and get those points back. Well, you wonder what chase will do if he gets around him on the racetrack now. If we get a chance we can wreck a lock as this, I don't feel wearing it's going to happen. The two cars spun out, Brad Keselowski goes around. Keselowski drops. He's now in the red three points behind. Harvick in Elliott in. William's gonna miss the chicane. What the Whitney? They hit him in the back. This lack of awareness like hit me in the back bumper right as those down shift in the first gear and so there's no way I was gonna make the chicane. So I don't get it. Don't worry right now by this point. And I'm telling you the battle continues for braddy goes behind that banner, but he gets the stuck behind the one now the 42s attacking him. Currently 6 points out of the playoffs. Harvick also into the mix and not too far behind the four is the 9 of chase Elliott. Oh, the four's gonna miss the corner. Got a little heart. Or jump. And now he's below the cut line and out of the possibility of advancing in the playoffs. You there it is. So we just got to finish here basically, correct. To basically. Look here, Larson crossover move really aggressive into the entry of that turn. He's going to take this lead away run to 11 wide. Big damage to the front end of that 22 car. And you're right junior big damage for the 22. That's important because now that's going to move two X to the bottom of the green car. That means a Byron takes the lead. And can win the race that would eliminate Truex instead of Kozlowski. Byron into the grass. I was just too bad at the end there and made a mistake and could have finished third but finished 11. So yeah, this stinks. Kyle Larson. He will win at the Charlotte robo. Kevin Harvick Christopher Bell William Byron and Alex Bowman those all eliminated. Thank you. Good job onto the next trip. Of course, get down there again. Our team has a lot of fight and I'm just super proud of that. As far as Kevin goes, just want to wish them a Mary off season and a happy Christmas. I like under for totals and i like under nine half so of all the teams you've done. This is the first one. We're having a propensity towards over under. I mean he mentioned it because about the offense towards the under. But how are you as you're under on the wind told and i'm neutral on because of their offense and aj like their defense. So i would agree with you on the under on the game totals just because if two is a game manager then it's going to be like brady his rookie year where look at the low scoring defensive oriented games. Maybe them not seeing much from two in the training camp is why they did sign however because or placated him because obviously there was an extended period. They weren't doing that right. What did he play. Great in pre and no they said. Oh we need some defense. That's interesting. would it be cool if they had for the season fez projected over on the lives for every game and had a season over under like oh total points..
