NFL Week 14 injuries: Christian McCaffrey's new issue, Antonio Gibson out of practice again

"Injuries we paying attention to the bigger buzzkill of the week on the injury or injury front here christian mccaffrey. A third injury now. with the shoulder Following up now also with a quad injury had high ankle sprain. Keep matt. He's he's not gonna play this week hopes are he will be back week. Fifteen or sixteen. But if we have. Mike davis there 'cause they'll lineup versus the panthers rb one this week antonio gibson that looking good got exactly one. Snap against the steelers on monday night before you heard a toe injury we're gonna watch his status heading towards the end of the week. He's out peyton barber on the early down work. Obviously jd mckissic. We'll get the pr action there. The pass catching back. Josh jacobs unlikely to play this week with an ankle issue. You're out devante booker. last week. It didn't work out. I'm not very optimistic about it this week. Either if out to that's a situation to avoid to straightness practices for. Aj brown the study for the titans with an ankle issue. This'll probably be around friday. I'll be looking at the most on practice tomorrow but take out. That's certainly a big blow to receivers out already for carolina. This week have christian mccaffrey. But also without dj more curtis samuel kobe. Nineteen list or both of those guys robby anderson. He's gonna get a ton of targets brandin cooks. We thought he might have had a fifth or sixth. I think it's now six concussion last week when he ended up medical tent. It looks like it's more of a neck injury foot issue. I am optimistic. He played just fuller out. Top targeting group brings one more week before we've probably take him back from that collapsed lung case. Him hill. Jalen hurts madge. Up is the two quarterbacks this week and that is going to be a very unique football game to watch analyst

Fantasy Football Forecast: One BIG THING you should know for every Week 2 matchup

"I sit out the way New Orleans versus Las Vegas raters. We saw New Orleans showcase really really solid, really great defensive performance against Tom. Brady and the buccaneers They were pretty on disappointed as a team, lot of penalties on their defensive side of the front. The saints rebel to take advantage of that. La Raiders played against the Carolina Panthers last week and gave up thirty points. It's very possible that New Orleans doesn't look as Resi as they did against a really solid defensive front in Tampa. Bay and they might have their way with a raiders team that is still kind of pretty young and trying to get their footing and all this stuff. They don't they had an injury to majority of their wide receivers in the last game. So Dan, Waller seems to be their only solid option. At the receiving side of things that might mean there in Waller's uptick in target's share and my means, he gets an ends on this year or this week maybe something good happens for him I'm buying all the stock now I'm Kamara right now for this game, this should be Alvin Kamara. KAMERA's two touchdown, a hundred yards from scrimmage plus game. This is this is the one I wouldn't see why would be any otherwise and to be quite frank. I think that a lot of players on seem to have a really big game and this would be a really fun game to see trae Kwan Smith. I'm going to bring them up again. This'll be a fun game Trey Smith. Look to be a solid. Relieving game just for brevity and sake of saving saints, fans of fantasy fans alike, some worry as to what the saints offense can look like without Michael Thomas Soaking up a lot of the defensive pressure. All right. So Fancy implications all over the place you know Josh Jacobs. This could be a really good test to see just how much they believe in Josh Jacobs as a pass catcher because I don't know how much he's going to be able to do in the run game considering New Orleans is when had and still does on one of the better run defenses in all the football. I think the best game. Pound for pound this week has to be the night game on NBC, where New England is playing against Seattle that they're going to be playing in Seattle New England the we have a kind of banged up cam and she says it's the there's no hamstring issue but. Of Most people are saying that he does, Kinda. Have a little bit of a hamstring thing going on and we'll see how that affects him with all read option stuff and what we saw from last Sunday's performance maybe we started to see cam throw a little bit more, and then we can really see just what this doing his offense really has to offer for them sure that bill will have them ready for whatever and we saw sea hawks offense that basically let Russell Wilson do what people have been asking. Them to let Russell. Wilson do for basically the majority of the back half of the dense. You know twenty seventeen was to let Russ Cook and Cook did Russell Wilson? Do He only missed four passes? He had A. Great amount of yardage great touchdown passes de que look. Nice at times he did have some drops of course, Tyler Lockett looked really good. Chris Carson looked amazing. In the past game. We had some really good screens run in for touchdowns. They got tight ends involved the plethora tight ends at the seahawks own and their defense was literally flying around all over the place. Now, there are a lot of garbage time touchdown stuff in that Falcons game that I'm not GonNa hold against the defense when it mattered. Jamal Adams and of course. Everybody else in that defense just looked phenomenal. They just looked physical. They looked like they were flying around and making plays they look very formidable as team very formidable. So. That is a game as the May have a lot of implemented implications on things so KEEP IN MIND I think one of the better secondaries in the League is New England's granted they played against. The, dolphins but they did not allow that many receptions or receiving yards at all for either receiver on the dolphins and Tyler Lockett, and care very athletic fast guys but. It's going to be tough. Is GonNa be a tough about we'll see what happens. They may have to change up the strategy of leading Russ Cook for this game in particular and work through the old tried and true run the ball and try to make something happen later on in the game. But for US Russell Wilson owners like myself I hope they just let him throw the ball a little bit more that'd be nice. That would be fun I think we'd all like to enjoy that. So moving on towards another game I think the Baltimore Game at four, twenty, five eastern standard time on CBS is going to be a good one, Baltimore versus Houston. This game can go I think Houston is a team that kid look Jacqueline Hyde and they've been jekyll and Hyde ever since the Shawn Watson is come on that team and. Not Sage. It's the Sean played bad last Thursday. But he definitely did not look comfortable one hundred percent of the time and you just was trying to make plays. His offensive line wasn't there fully stout at all and when it was time to just throw throw throw things Kinda got out of hand for Houston Houston can't be a team that gets to behind too quickly or else it is going to be nightmarish for the offensive line. And it's going to be a bad day for Shawn Watson even though he can make miracles happen at will while Samour's in perfect position to take on a team that showcase bad tackling display. So this is a team. So if this is the time where you want to be like, okay JK Dobbins, he didn't have that many targets but hey, he got two touchdowns in is the time to test out the JK Dobbins is going to be. The album? Kamara. To Marketing Rooms Mark Ingram. So we'll see what happens here Lamar he this seem doesn't tackle well, Lamar could have himself a anywhere closer to forty to fifty yards rushing easily against this team if he wants it, and of course, Mark Andrews is a guy who I would think would eat very well against the Houston team that allowed drivers Kelsey to get like five catches in the first half with ease marched up and down the field with ease Look to see how David Johnson looks in his second bout. David Johnson had a nice surprise of a Comeback Week one performance that a lot of people were speculating was possible and he delivered for the most part. So that was encouraging for many people to go ahead and see so I wouldn't. Put it past him to do it once again. That's really really against the I think that Brandin cooks is still a bit. So that would not be. Great for folks owners. And I would be looking at anybody who has. Willie snead Willie snead was all over the place last week and it was almost to a shocking amount of how much willie snead was dependent on and I said Willie snead. That was not who I meant to say I meant to say will fuller will fuller will around the field for the Texans last week and I would like to see him continue that stretch because that would be. Pretty awesome to be completely honest. I. Would like to see a will fuller healthy and showcasing that he is here to stay in this league and thus it would not make me feel nearly as bad for short.

Russell Wilson New Orleans Houston Willie Snead Willie Snead Tyler Lockett Willie Snead Russ Cook Shawn Watson Alvin Kamara Raiders Josh Jacobs La Raiders Brady New England Tampa Waller Seattle Trae Kwan Smith Chris Carson

Tear Down This Wall: The resistance

"The I on curtain was not the creation of a mindset or a system which had any time for dissent. The curtain was at its height. Seven thousand in Columbus of wires watchtowers walls fences minefields and sentry posts stretching from the Arctic Tundra Finland to the Black Sea coast of Greece. This old dedicated to preventing captive people's from fleeing somewhere they might speak think and vote freely. Nevertheless there was resistance courageous inventive and surprisingly rarely violent it took foams as different as the imprison nations of Eastern Europe would different in this third episode of the foreign discs series reflecting on the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. We look at Poland where the regime Asia was confronted by a trade union and joined by Pope the country then known as Czechoslovakia where revolution was led by poets playwrights and rockstars and Romania the only one of eastern Europe's liberation struggles of nineteen thousand nine to descend into bloodshed. This is the foreign desk. My impression of the strike in the Lenin shipyard was that this was going to happen as they were going to get way because there was nothing credible calm about the way people are going about the strike. There there was no panic. There was no drinking no rushing around people were just waiting for the government to give in and the government did get enough to series of public negotiation. I mean we knew something something was going on but we still wear not sat in that be able to live to see the end all the system. We knew Tom Unsustainable in the long run but most of our perspective close sustainable for longer than our lives about the thing about people on television television or a heads of the secret believes in the army and they were giving contradictory instructions to people in the field but there was fighting on on the streets. Nobody knew who was on whose side and the sea turns out of course neither there or no sides there was a single side and the churches were along and they had no loyal troops in August. One thousand nine hundred eighty a group of workers at the Lenin shipyards in Gdansk went Own Strike they called their fledgling trade union solidarity and hoisted a Groovy flag based on Poland's national banner with the Solidarity Name emblazoned in red on the White Stripe in cheerful friendly font within a year of its foundation solidarity had ten million members within within a decade. It had the country a few weeks after the Berlin Wall fell solidarity leader Falesa an electrician by trade was elected. President President of Poland Kristof Bobbin. Ski Is the President of Union and Polska a pro European think tank in Wausau. He's also the former Warsaw correspondent Brandin of the Financial Times. He picks up the story in Gdansk. In the summer of nineteen eighteen to strike in the shipyard had two phases one was a phase which which went from about this Thursday to the Saturday afternoon when the shipyard authorities the management gave into the demands and tell people go home that he said we've we've got the money or go home and at that point it was. The younger workers also led by young dissidents. I suppose who went round the ship out saying don't go home. The strike is not over people out there in the restive discuss still on strike. They were driving around in this small electric electric trucks telling the people not to go home and a lot of people go home but enough state from the Saturday afternoon and I arrived on the Saturday Saturday afternoon and I saw young people saving shy making it continue into the Sunday. On the Sunday people started coming back on the Monday morning people came back and strike got underway big strike on underway. So actually I had the impression that it was actually a young people's movement at that moment it was saved by the young people by the shipyard workers wasn't quite solidarity then because it was formed as it were off the strikes extended but my impression of the strike in the Lenin shipyard was that this was gonna happen this they were going to get their way because it was incredible calmness about the way people we're going about the strike. That was no panic. There was no drinking. There was no rushing around people. Were just waiting for the government to give it and the government did give enough to series the public negotiations and is the reason for those public negotiations were a certain number of Social demands pay demands but also the the main demand with for this supplements of independent unions

"You missed out a medieval times john. I was the night before bowling right and then you were the night after medieval times and what i hear you made the apps you're like who is it lauren hill that does concerts and shows up an hour and a half late and sings for ten thousand leaves that was you i was there on time then i was like kaiser soza and you're gone which isn't a bad move but they did get one very good picture of you in a what looks depite dr yeah medieval garb and they actually gave me a mace <hes> so venice mason amazed by the way big question today. Is this straight edge mace or or is this venice mace girl in the straight edge. The guy in the back is yelling. Venice mace which basically is is whether or not mason shows up stoned but i think you had to drive straight edge medicines straight edge mace someday. I'll do a show where orig- venice mace and everybody will invite be invited to see exactly how stupid i am actually make the show better yeah hey so. Are you gonna watch the ram game tomorrow night yeah. I'm gonna watch what are you watching for. The rams are are not gonna play any of the starter correct so what your but your big ram fan yep like. I said i watch most of the charger game last night. Actually the chargers looked okay. They lost but they played a lot of backups so the rams are gonna play nothing but back right. What are you watching four. What are you interested in well number. One is <hes> darryl henderson the running back out of memphis who's going to get <hes> reps tomorrow night and who i think because gonna figure into the offense this year in a little background on him. He averaged almost seven yards of touch right at memphis and he's the person i've heard him. Most compared to is darren sprains. He's a very fast third down back who can both run and catch yeah so i wanna see what he looks like because i think with the rams a ah given how todd girlies knee is sort of a question mark. I like malcolm brown. A lot and i want to see what darrell henderson's got in the secondary. I'm looking for taylor rap wrap. Who i think is gonna play tomorrow night. Taylor app is a safety who is gonna be eric. Wells backed up and it's going to see i think significant time this year so i wanna see taylor rap out of washington and then i wanna see actually i'm kind of curious. See blake bortles yeah. I wonder how much he's going to play but that is an upgrade jeered garbage upgrade. Your golf for a young guy has not missed much time once he was given that starting job. I don't think he's mr mr start yet and the amount of time sean manion played as goths backup or very limited but blake bortles is a series blake bortles a former top five picking the n._f._l. Ralph experience right and so i think by the way who's the third string quarterback brandon allen so he's gonna play tonight yeah tomorrow night but i'm expecting to see bortles last year. Manion played a lot it preseason and <music>. I'm expecting to see bortles so bortles henderson. Who is the texas am receiver lesser. Josh miranda reynolds he could play you know a lot of people think that josh josh reynolds is is going to be an impact either share. They've got really four receivers to go to they've got robber woods and obviously brandin cooks and cooper cup and josh reynolds is going to be a guy who figures into the offense.

"The thing that we can do. Now. This is what we got going defense is playing really well. Just take a deep breath. We've always talked about we don't need to make anything up. We do a great job starts with me. We get a Fisher runs some temple. We're not allowing ourselves to get in any sort of rhythm. But if we do that we know how quickly we can flip the switch on. Yup. We're good. Here's the thing. He was right. Because they did they punted on the first drive of the half. But they had that drive in the third quarter where they went right down the field, and I and ten from the twenty nine. Brandin cooks blows by the safety. Throws his hand in the air and Jared Goff doesn't notice him. And Jared Goff doesn't throw a frozen rope. We talked about this yesterday. I don't want to go too hard on Jared Goff. But there is a difference between a good quarterback and a great quarterback. And a great quarterback. Makes that throw a great quarterback delivers that dagger. When he has the chance to do it those moments are few and far between and Super Bowls. You get it you deliver. And I saw Michael Irvin last night. On twitter. I saw the clip from inside the NFL losing his mind about Brandin cooks. That Michael Irvin makes the catch at the goal line. Where cooks got blown up by Doron harmed. Because cooks dropped it before Harmon hit him. Ervin in Irvine's estimating makes that catch Ervin in Irvine's estimation makes that catch at the back of the end zone, and he gives a very passionate. I usually don't pay any attention to Michael Irvin. He doesn't have a lot of credibility with me, frankly. But I thought it was compelling. I probably need to write something about it. And post the clip because he said in a very very passionate over the top at passionate way. This is what you spend all your life pointing toward as a kid. You want the opportunity to make catches like that you make that catch at the back of the end zone. You hold onto the ball at the back of the end zone. You hold onto the ball. When you have an opportunity to score a touchdown going down the right sideline and tie the game up in the fourth quarter, the Super Bowl, you don't drop that ball. You don't let someone knocked the ball out of your hands. And it's funny because he had like a pocket square that was all puffed open, like a blooming flower or blooming onion is a case may be and when he sat down Phil Simms said to him. Mike. New your pocket square was on steroids. But I didn't know you were. It was great. Great Phil, Phil listening and learning to his son. Christopher. So I, but you know, what he's gotta agree championship teams make championship plays in championship moments and the Rams failed. Brandin cooks failed Jared Goff failed Todd Gurley. I only where the hell he was Aaron Donald aware the hell he was all he did was throw Tom Brady down to the ground. Once when Brady didn't have the ball anymore. I don't know where he was. Championship players make championship plays in championship moments. The patriots did the Rams didn't. And that's why the patriots have number six one of the reasons that have number six when they were up seven with one sixteen to play facing fourth and one from the LA twenty four there were two options. Go for it. Okay. Can feel if you go for it and you fail Rams have it around their own twenty four kick it new fail. Rams have at their own thirty one either way. Touchdown extra point ties at touchdown. And a two porter wins it. I thought the patriots should go forward. Especially after Stephen Gus Cousy missed a forty six yard or in the first half and the forty one yard or that he made in the first half hooked just like the forty six yard or D missed. Tom Brady helped convince his head coach to kick. The field goal on fourth insure to here is the clip from inside the NFL..

"This is my speculation. Obviously, I'm not reporting on news. My speculation. I think it's pretty clear Todd Gurley was hurt. And it's pretty clear for one reason rather the Rams did not wanna put him on the injury report. Well, because he was for one if you're practicing if you're one hundred percent go at practice. You don't have to be on the injury. Now as far as what treatment and everything you're getting that don't have to be on the injury. But if you're able to be a hundred percent participant in practice now, I can be one hundred percent me and coach no coach no one hundred percent. So I will get the rips. But I'll be going at a coach speed. I won't be going. Dame speed type of intensity and practice. And I'm surprised if the way that he's taking it in stride. Hey, I'm fine. I'm fine. You would think if he only got ten carries, and he was really fine. He'd be hot about only getting cares. And he'd be hot about what happened. That seems to be an acceptance to it, and maybe that's his personality. But I don't know a lot of guys that don't want the ball the year in the league last year. I mean, this guy is he is the most important piece of their offense. Not not cooks not worth not Jared Goff. It's him and you saw their offense last couple of weeks look pedestrian one of the big reasons is they didn't have their best player for all intents and purposes and Todd Gurley I see a little bit later on in the show. Coming up is Julian elements play prowess plane him into the hall of fame. That's next on first thing I ever stop. Spreading lies. Cooling elements hall of fame buzz in just a second first third quarter last night patriots debate. Jason mccourty comes across the field prevents Brandin cooks from scoring the touchdown. So you should you. Call this one. I would call it. Standard. Art. What what are the polls? The have. I don't know. I'm a tick beneath hall of Famer like shit shit. I don't know a tick me see hold on a second chill asked me. You didn't ask yourself? But I'm asking you in this in this perspective. I've been number one receiver catch that ball. Can't we all just get along? The fourth quarter with a spectacular diving catch in between two defenders to set up the winning touchdown. See think you could have caught this. This is Brady's best throw the night. Brady's best throw the night was called it..

"So I am highly entertained for all the wrong reasons in the first half, and it's only three to nothing and what happens to start the second half. Patrick Chung breaks his arm. He is the quarterback of the defense you call signals for the defense and organizes the secondary. He's gone. And I'm saying I tweeted immediately. Well, that's big advantage. Sean McVay they're gonna find a soft spot and they almost did to brain cooks in the back of the end zone. And then here came the lightning strike from Mount Olympus, Tom Brady, when you least expect it goes Pomo bone four straight completions to on Caskey. And all the sudden he did it again another fourth quarter game winning drives. You know, if you noticed, but you see what he did. He picked three drives. Well, I'm I'm still going. The two throws to Brandin cooks that should have been touchdowns could've been touchdowns. Seriously. Those are there. Why would they run the game the helmet? Can't are you going to Malcolm Butler play what the was two memorable play from those game when you least expect it Jared Goff. You went care was we went to west of up for hands. The memorable play everything the world the memorable the play the game. It was the play of Tom Brady's created the throat or gronkowski down to the two. It's the play. It's the longest play the night. That's easy. That's syndicate worthy Phillies Ashu that. Whereas that that was finishing right there. Whereas Philly fashion, remember, the breast my. No, more Phillies. Funny nine yards that David Tyree kit. Where's the Malcolm Butler? These are all edge of C place. And then how about this Brady has worn out the defensive front because you just can't get Brady they put as much on. They only sacked him. One time the whole. There warn out there gagging, gasping and all of a sudden the patriots hit him to twenty six yards. Twenty six yard runs to go down and get the icing field goal. Oh. What role did not? But he would have a back door late. Did it stand up with ten to three? It stood up is the final score. Yes. It would. Oh, debris that in. And then I'm thinking with one twelve left. It came down to go for it. Or do you keep the field field goal? No, burn. I tweeted that immediately. But I thought check just might go for interesting. He was two inches. It was like three inches been. Okay. Well, it was a forty some yard field goal. And he kicked it and you'd already missed one. And I am down on my knees. Opening makes it skip. There's nothing exciting about a MRs e ripping there's nothing exciting. I'm just there's nothing signature from this game. I bet you hold. You Tom Brady had the signature play of his career. If they had it was like kyri shot the championship for LeBron. Always remember we we talked about the bra twenty. If this was a Goth cock Goth Caskey had miss like. Who that the giants buffalo game if he had missed field goal, okay breathtaking, but missing a field goal in the first quarter is not breathtaking. Well, breath were major is to Super Bowl. I just gave the measure quits. He okays. What does it? They were shocking. How about this here? If this game played Seattle who's talking about it. No. If that's the if this game is played in September October who's talking about it in January. Well, it was done the Super Bowl. Everybody thought it was going to be in the third. I'm gonna no matter. I'm as you look at turn this off who would turn this off and say watch you second going into the fourth quarter. How many millions of people said this is boring. I'm gonna turn it off into three two three two three is to Super Bowl. The go-to skip. If two super this game is the game happened in September, October anybody talking about it. If Brandin cooks had caught one of those balls in somehow, the Rams had hung on and beaten Brady and Bill check you'd be over there celebrating the whole day, and you would have given this game at ten. That's what it boils down to a ten. You would have said it was. You get set. It was you know team no fourteen points. Well, the right team wins. You can't you can't. They had. No, no, no, no. No, no. "He hasn't had receivers to throw to. He hasn't had thoroughbred receivers to throw to the exception. Randy moss for short period of time. Josh, Gordon, if you call him that for a couple of games, you know, a guy here and there but over over the look at Brandin cooks when he was with the patriots and Brandin cooks last night. You know, they just are better when they're wearing that uniform, and you can say that make you can you can look back through the greatest teams in pro football history. And I'll I'll throw it a name is Bart Starr hall of fame quarterback if he's playing for anybody other than Vince Lombardi is Jim kale. You know? Jim Taylor, Paul horn, go on and on Jerry Kramer in. It's yes. Yes. Systems do produce greatness. And when you look at element. No, he doesn't look Calvin Johnson. You don't have to be Calvin Johnson to be great. Okay. And Welker approved it and Amadullah proved it briefly, and you know, he did have Randy moss for a while. But obviously everything runs through Bella check. And Brady I was I was explaining to my daughter yesterday. She was on her way back to Boston to watch the game. And I said Honey seventeen years ago, Mr Belet check and Mr. Brady won their first Super Bowl together. And they have a chance to win another one tonight and nothing like this will ever happen again in the history of American sports, and they might not be done. I mean, I have a prediction Mitch I my first prediction for the for the two thousand and nine thousand nine regular-season bobbin Mitch you want to hear. Yeah. Okay. It's about the seventh game the the patriots maybe on Sunday night or Monday night will look really really bad. Okay. And Brady will throw three picks and at that point we will declare everything over. Okay. And then bell check will say something like onto Miami. And then they'll play a little better. And then it looks like they're not going to have home field for the plus it stopped me, if you've heard this from okay, it looks like they're not the not gonna have home. But because they're in the east, they do get home. And then they'll play a high flying team in either the first or second round and next February in Miami. We'll be talking about how they won another Super Bowl. And now they're seven and what would that make them six three six seven and three lifetime the Super Bowl. But the way I just want to throw this out there random because it's a we would be remiss not to do. So we've discussed all the leading candidates for best actor in this production a Super Bowl l I but I am now going to give you the the one. Prominent nominee for best supporting actor in this performance. And that would be the punter Ryan Allen who three times placed the ball inside the ten. Oh, it's great. Yeah. And of course, the the the coverage superb coverage of Matthew Slater, of course. But mine and the LA punter was pretty damn good himself. Hecker, you know, Hecker, by the way in Bill Belichick was few sieve in his praise of him all week. So yes, there were two excellent punters on the spill Jim Nance is like going, you know, after the after the punt like what a moment myself that that pretty much sums up this game. You know? Thanks, guys centerstage. Is there anything that any member of the New Orleans Saints or any saints fan saw last night that made them feel any better about the Rams being and them not being? No, yeah. No. Yeah. That'll be there were rioting in the streets there in New Orleans. See the front page of the times picky owned, by the way today. Oh, tell me. No Super Bowl question. Mark. What superbowl? No. Yeah. Well, I I actually think that New Orleans would have given them a better game. Like, I do think with breezes some of this was just they they were overwhelmed. I mean, you know, we're we're so used to young talent being stunning in sports today and just kids doing these amazing things and and nineteen and twenty and twenty one year olds just astonishing us with how they handle the pressure that we almost expect it now when it happens, but you do have a team there. "For the patriots pass rush. He was not ready for their pass defense. He wasn't ready for what the path through doing in the secondary. There were showing a books ended the day ram score three points. He doesn't take one snap in the red zone. Damn dude. He was late when Brandin cooks was wide open the end zone. And then of course, Jared Goff throwing a game ending interception on the blitz numbers right here. Nineteen thirty eight to twenty nine zero touchdowns one pick. He was sacked four times. He was knocked around a lot ended the day Murphy's QB rating. Very unsuitable a victory like fifty seven point. Nine. Forty seven. We've taken shots. Kills. It's terrible. And. There are some good things you take from it for right now. There's nothing. It's. Game. I was played better. I wish would've played better offense. The whole. "Waiting just for you. We just had a timeout taken by the patriot defense here tied at three twelve twenty three in the fourth quarter. And the Rams are moving. The ball thrown twenty two. I'm gonna give the patriots defense credit coming up running a lot of these sets would app to linebackers on the edge of the line of scrimmage and what it's doing is. It's awesome. The offensive line of the Rams to have the match up one on one across the board. And then they're running some twists and some games. But it seemed like every time Jared Goff wants to hold the football. And throw it down the field, a white jerseys coming free, and he's got a turn and bail out. Early is in the game office in the gun four in the defensive line for New England second down eleven Rams at their own twenty two. Stretched thin snap. Back. Three gets the Whitworth and throws a pass to the news five hundred complete Everett. The tight end with trying to have a one and a Kantian Jackson was chasing him on the nearside. Leonard about the twenty two yard line up. The Rams incomplete passes once again number sixteenth on the ground here as he's trying to throw just to five yard out wants to hold it. And see if anything comes up and down the field. His check down once again sixteen on the turf. Gough began this throwing around five or fifteen cents seven ten now. Don eleven shotgun. Snap back to pass goes up. Winds up down the middle. It's incomplete looking at a class. Josh Reynolds was covered on the plane at about the forty yard line by Jason mccourty the pass wide incomplete. And a flag was thrown on the play. And gough. I can't tell if he was pass defense. Twenty four penalty. That's on Stefan. Gilmore the pro bowler in the all pro player this year penalty, and you hate those when they're on the backside, right? Jared Goff looking to his right phone Gilmore was covering Brandin cooks back to the left hand side. So it wasn't even in the play. But he did get a hand in the jersey gave a little bit of Italian could see the shoulder pad Brandin cooks come free as he tucked his jersey, but they got lucky right there. Because one more time they ran a double twist meaning to guys patriots defensive line are slamming to the right and they're bringing the third guy. Rapid him all the way back around to the left and he was coming free on Jared Goff wants here. Dauth is under center is on twenty seven. I intend fakes the hand off pass chest high catch made forty three yard line inside the numbers by cooks town, by Gilmore. Punt the ball cooks hit the deck. Forty-three of LA's sixteen yard completion. I town ram made the point every time he has gone back and could set his feet in a long time. Good things happen. Rec- has good receivers as good throw. Good route down the field. I down big play by the Rams. Early remains to China. Off under center, I intended tone, forty three yard line defensive line for New England. They will come charging cooks in motion drilling over the left side. Picks up New England forty four. Flagstone Roberts makes the stop. It looks like it's going to be a hold on L A, wiping out. What could have been a sixteen thirteen yard run. Sixty five. John Sullivan the center. Oftentimes, you see that with this win running a stretch play in one direction. And then all of a sudden the back cuts back the defenders sees it and starts to move that direction. Coach and you've got a hold of him 'cause you're reaching to the right hand side, easy for the officials to see that. Because the defenders moving your hands. Go with them, they see that little tug. But as you said, Kevin unfortunate because it brings back a huge player. Now, the balls back thirty three rounds eleven twelve clock ticking fourth quarter tied three I in twenty shotgun. Snap the golf got back from Wentworth. He moves out of harm's way running to the news site the numbers. Thirty thirty two. A hard hit right there. And it was made by Jonathan Jones. On the near sideline flags. Gop just took a wicked hit and they'll spot the ball to thirty one of the Rams I thought that was pretty close. Two out of bounds. When just because he kind of gave himself up at the end he wasn't trying to get in yards. He was trying to get out of bounds. Now that you've seen that call a million times. Now, he might have have one foot still in. But I'm really surprised that they didn't throw that flag. The balls at the ram thirty-one. They're moving from left to right in a Royal blue jerseys and bright gold pants losing to second down. Twenty two shotgun snap more blocking ahead time. Forgot winds up long spiral far sideline and compete for golf books from doff against Gilmore down the sideline and above the twenty five up New England across the way in front of the Rams bench incomplete to the sideline and border guys. I've noticed a couple of different times on the series of Jared Goff is having some kind of an issue with his left hand. He's comfortable sideline. Twice after plays to have. It looked at whether it affects on a shotgun snap or Pat. The ball remains to be seen. But something to keep an eye on here. Got an ice cut to head on that right elbow. Maybe when hit the deck here moments ago on the new sideline running curly in the backfield for the patriots. It's third in twenty two with the hand off and no place to run for early drilled and back to the line of scrimmage big it right there by the terrific, Trey flowers off the defensive line for the patriots. Here's fourth-down. Here's another punting unit. Coming up for the Rams on a loss of two on that point a mayor. The Rams offense O'Brien is having trouble with the quickness of this patriots defensive front. Meet couple linebackers are playing at the line of scrimmage, and they're just beating the Rams offense line to the punch Palestine that time. Miss completely on Trey flowers. Don't cancel early ninth pun for the Rams in hacker. It goes from left to right to animate bouncing thirty one kicking immediately out of bounds near the patriots thirty yard line thirty one yard line. That's where it'll be. And there's a time out on the field. Little over nine minutes to play in the fourth quarter. That was a pun a thirty nine yard. We are.

"Reynolds stepping up now to be that guy that had to replace Cooper Cup again people saying well, the Rams need that third receiver to step up. And I like he'd be too is the dark horse as far as to maybe get a touchdown. But a lot of people think what does and it makes sense tries to take a couple of things way tries to slow down the run game or take that running game away. And then also your number one receiver, which of course, Brandin cooks. So that would mean woods probably has to have a big game. You know, if that theory plays out your take on how the Rams attack New England what they need to do in order to get through that New England defense that has been very stingy, especially in the first half of those two games against the chargers the chiefs. Well, I'll tell you this. As far as woods and cooks, go. I don't think it's so much cooks over one and woods is a too. I think it's one in one as situation here. You've got two guys who are both really really productive receivers. So I think that certainly try and take away Brandin cooks probably oversimplifies things a little bit that being said, you can take one of those two and it probably won't go under there probably won't Boko over. But one of them probably will probably won't. So you find the one who like who's got the better match up, and you can move on that one one of the props. I like as well, especially if you like somebody that may be you know, pretty good odds as far as to score the first touchdown of the game. You also have player to score second touchdown of the game and player to score last touchdown of the game. So by really likes somebody. And I find somebody say.

"They'll be able to score twenty six points and a real hostile hostile environment. You know is big and throw right here that he to Brandin cooks that was a that one. Does a good throat that was a great throat. Do you think they've they've already got girly signed up and Brandin cooks and they've got a top division, and then they've got to pay Jared Goff. Their offensive line's getting a little old and the tooth. Do. You think this championship window is maybe shorter? I mean, the divisions really tough. They're gonna play Seattle and they got Jimmy Garoppolo. We how long do you think this championship window lasts? You know, honest, which account not that big. It's our time. I think the championship one is going to run for a while. I think that we have the players. I mean, we might Louis loosen plans for sure, but we have the pieces in place. You know, what the most important thing you have you have the players, but the coaching is so important. I mean, you look at you look at New England, and I use them as an example would Bella check sometime then have all the greatest players, but they still able to win with our young coach, Sean McVeigh to me. He is a mini. Version of him. He really is. He's he's a he's a mini version because mix spe is a football got. I'm gonna football guy. He's he's all about details. Just like Bella check as he's about detail. He's about you know, having respected the players in every respect him. And the big thing is I think one thing when people talked about all year that McVeigh can't hell all these big personality. You got to leave. You got Peters. You know, Kenny hallel. These guys you have heard nothing come out of ram Cam is all about winning football games. And I I believe will. I I think that will have this run for a while. I don't know what do like the patriots think we'll ever see that again. But you know, we have a very good football team. What worries you about this game? If you're a Rams guy. What worries you what what's your worst nightmare? Turn the football over. That's it turn the football over. 'cause and you and you have to be committed to the run those things don't turn the ball over and run the football. I think we win this football game. Because I think I'll do physical step up. I think one of the key things in this game is his way Phillips. I think people underestimate QA's Philip defense they've been playing very well. The last couple of weeks he's been in this situation before he's being the patron four before when they won the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers. He put it on Cam Newton and their offense. And that's what I'm hoping that he'll be able to do this Sunday against the New England Patriots. How surprised are you that they brought in Dominic and sue and Marcus Peters and the keep to lead these guys had a little baggage? These guys, you know, their resumes were spotty. Are you surprised how? Well, the chemistry has worked with the Rams. You know? No, I'm not after after hearing about how Sean McVeigh dealt with players. I mean, and that's this comes from players that have played under him. You know plans that have been around him and talked about Eric me tell you something it's only one shining. But he said they can try to find another Sean McVeigh, they're not gonna find him. He said, you might think you have a shiny bay. You don't he say he is such a a football guy. He loves football. He he wants to work in. I think the big thing is you find coaches don't listen to the players the players. We're we're out there in the fight. We're not talking about the fight. And that's one thing. I think the coach McVay does he topped his place. Okay. Tell me what you see tell me what you want to do. And that's that's important in NFS, not working. He's the first one to tell. Hey, the player. Let me show you not working. And you you have to take the time to do those kind of things with players in the National Football League. Now, how big is it for LA if they win. "The painkillers like it'll. It'll be going. You know what I mean? Like, I just feel like he's not one hundred percent. But I think he'll be closer on Sunday. Then he has been in the rest of the last month or does he did get two weeks off? Right, right. Only mean good things and it's been about five or six weeks since he got hurt. So maybe that's amount of time that he needed CJ Anderson's been running the ball just fine for them. But I do think like don't you kind of think like they need to have a big game to win. Like, I know C J Anderson has been doing well. But don't you kind of feel like they need the x factor from girly. Yeah. Abby need they need siege. As good don't get me wrong. He's been performing very well early on another level, but they need like a like a couple of big runs by girlie a couple of big plays in my opinion. Absolutely. So all right wide receiver. So Brandin, cooks, Robert woods Brandin cooks. He's playing against his former team. What do you think about that? What do you think about Brandin cooks playing against the patriot? Hits. Is that a good thing for the Rams or a bad thing for the Rams? It's not really anything. I think there's more for Brandin cooks in general. I think you just like I can show why you shouldn't have traded me type again he could have that kind of breakout game. You know, so, but I don't see it as like a good thing or bad thing. I think we'll see how things go. It's just it's just a storyline to me. Yeah. You know, Brennan cooks. It is interesting. I do think I think that there is a little bit of an advantage to his old team. I think that. They know Brandin cooks think Bill chick knows Brandin cooks. I think they'll no they'll figure out how to limit him out. He won't get stopped by think rubber woods is interesting though. Because rubber woods, I think is the X factor for the Rams because he is such a good all-round wide receiver. He provides them a lot. He plays on the right hand side of that offense. They run a lot of punch formations. He does a lot in the blocking game. He does a lot in motion. He's a great wide receiver. I mean, he makes all kinds of plays. He's a better red zone wide receiver than people give him credit for. I think Robert woods is one of the more. Underrated players in the NFL. And I think he might be a problem this this Sunday. I really do. I think he's not looked at by the defensive patriots as anyone else's like they should. He's also had some success against the patriots playing for the Buffalo Bills previously, which is it seems like a long time ago. But heels. Yeah. It is I like this too. Help expand my rock and roll horizon. Loved the story here we are days away from the Super Bowl. I am on edge this Super Bowl, man. I'm going to be that. I. I'm going to be either extremely happy come Sunday night. And I believe that I will aren't going to be extremely upset Sunday night. When the patriots and the Rams take the field at Mercedes Benz stadium though Sunday. The players, and the coaches will command the attention, but there are many people who have worked behind the scenes to help each team in the Super Bowl and reach the Super Bowl that is Rams wide receiver Brandin cooks understands that. So that's why I love the story. That's why last week. Before and he and his teammates left, California for Atlanta. He put the wheels in motion for one of those virtually anonymous members of the organization to be on hand for the game. Through the Rams cook arranged Brandin cooks arranged for Alphonso Garcia. The janitor for the Rams and the locker room there and his son Josh to receive two tickets at the Super Bowl as well. As flight and hotel accommodations for the trip. Nice job, Brandon. Again, we're talking about people who are working hard living paycheck to paycheck. The guy's a janitor. And maybe could have afforded to take your son to the Super Bowl. Maybe maybe could not afford that. But either way Brandin cooks made it happen. Cooks did not publicize the act of kindness. Fellow wide receiver Robert woods shot a great year to both these guys shared the news with reporters when asked about what is meant to the Rams on and off the field after joining the trade via how about this from New England last season. So here we are. He's played on the patriots last year. Now, he's gonna play against the patriots in the Super Bowl with the Rams, by the way, this is not a follow up. But. Hey, we had the dodgers in the Red Sox in the World Series. Now, we'll get the Rams and the patriots Toussaint same do James. But I love this. The story says I walked by. And it just happened just happened to see the encounter said woods, and that type of teammate that's type of teammate that Brandin cooks is kind of leader that is. Last a short time later about the push for Garcia and his son to attend cook said, oh, man Alfonzo. The guy is special man keeps our locker room and tiptop shape as such special soul. Someone that I found myself drawn to said Brandon once I got there, and I see him around the facility all the time. I just felt like you would be special for him to see what you know that he is a special part of the success as well and wanted him to be able to attend the Super Bowl with his son. Do enjoy that. So that's a wonderful move. Brandin cooks. Wonderful wonderful move. I applaud you for that, my friend. He's a good guy. Halftime is going to be maroon five please don't call him a.

"At the Rams sendoff cat would love. It would love that reference. The Rams outside their new stadium. Trout. Yeah. No, not quite the thirty five thousand that showed up in Foxborough. But Rams fans there the Rams ready to go and Sean McVay maybe getting sleep or maybe not getting sleep this week. Peter King joins us for the full hour and Peter fascinating football morning in America. You can read it now pro football, talk dot com. But don't read it right now. Listen to what Peter has to say. And then you can read pretty good at your job, man. The car early early. How did that all come to be? And why in the world did it happen as early as it did on Saturday morning? Well last week right about this time. I texted artists PR guy of the Rams said had loved to do this with Sean McVeigh. I the last year or Doug Peterson of done things like this before Super Bowls and a couple of days went by. And so Finally, I just I also texted Sean McVeigh. And I said I told him what I wanted to do Friday or Saturday morning early. Let's get in the car. I'll ride with you. Well, he takes me back right away said. Yeah, sure, I'll do it. So I arranged it with him. And I was at his house three thirty Saturday morning in the hills north of LA he said four fifteen, but I've heard funny stories about him in time. Right. And so he walks out of his house at ten after four Coughlin time, or as I said, insane standard time and say and. We got in the car, and we drove. But here's the interesting thing that I've found in this whole thing that not only is he ready to go at four ten, but he's ready to go with applicable good. Interesting fun. Correct stories for the moment. Like Bella has texted him after every win this year. Wow. And Bella chick. He got the Nobel chick last year. Really well at the combine they spend some time together. And then remember are also wrote this in my column that you remember they trade for Brandin cooks last year. And he and check we're the ones who got this done. You know, it was not done less need, Nick Caserio, GM GM or president debris. It wasn't done that way, it was basically done with between McVay and Bella chick and McVeigh thought he had a deal done for you. You know, basically Brandin cooks in a four for that one and Bella chick in the course of their conversation ended up getting a six back. And so, you know, McVeigh wanted the guy so bad that he didn't. I mean, he they must've negotiated but originally they weren't going to give the six, and then they gave the six so he also he knows how to compete with Bela chicken, he'll be it'll be an interesting week for him here. I honestly think that's like one of the underlying things I look at the match up because like I look at a lot of times the New England. You've heard me say this before right? Just go. The one thing that gets lost with competing against New England you have to compete against their coaches. And you know, Bella check is going to be in the office all day with his staff. And I mean, it sounds like, and you probably know more than this. But it sounds like McVeigh is like that kind of guy that is there all day long. He lives it. You've got no family to go home. Do chris. You will you will understand this perfectly? Now, do you? Remember the Super Bowl last year where I ended up writing about this after the game that the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl. Yes. Nick foles eleven yards Zakar they were in a one by four formation. One of the very rare times all year that Philadelphia ran this formation, right? They never ran the motion. They ran with it in that formation. And they didn't have Zakar is the one on the left. So the patriots had never seen this. Right. And when I started to tell that story McVay goes. Oh, yeah. The one by four. Yeah. Mcvay has seen this play. He studied this play. And and and what I believe he didn't say this. So this is just me Peter King divining this after being with him. And after watching the Super Bowl last year where the Philadelphia Eagles the way that they beat the New England Patriots is by running plays that in history. Never in Doug Peterson history. Never in Frank Reich. It nobody that they ever Rian these before. And so that is what I believe we're gonna see things maybe on both sides to but we're going to see things from the law. Los Angeles Rams where it'll come out after the game that they never ran that in any way before an McVeigh never ran it in his three years as Washington's offensive style. All these things that McVeigh's been holding in his pocket, or are these places, you know, he's gonna come up with out of the blue this week because last year remember remember last year. Doug Peterson went to the Super Bowl last year with a one hundred ninety to play game plan. They landed Minnesota. He has a meeting with his coaches, and he says, hey, the hay is not in the barn. Right. I want you guys to keep working and see if you can find plays that can knock some of these one hundred ninety two out of the game. Sure. And Mike grow the receivers coach Frank right combined to find this play that they saw a combination of which on other teams film. Yeah. And that's Mike. What makes it? So I don't wanna say easy. But what makes it so different right now today this year is pro football, focus and really good analytics people can can take plays that might have been run three years ago by. Alabama. Yeah. Right or Oklahoma state, and they'll see things because they have these things program show me everything in NCAA division, one football with one by four formations in jet. Sweep motion. Yeah. Yeah. And they can they can. So now. Against Maryland in two thousand fifteen here. It comes. Oh my God. Why can't we do that right seat? That is what is different about football right now. It is not hard to find to find Einstein stuff. Just simply by a click the mouse. Yeah. All right. I got a question for you. I mean, you're a you're a hall of Famer you're a legend like it's you're gonna put on a gold jacket one day. But this is where you've been around putting you there. But this is where I want to ask you this with McVeigh you've been around. So many good coaches. I wanna know what does how does he stack up against coaches? You have seen through the years. And how does he stack up to a young Bella check when he was younger like if you can remember that far long ago? Well, consider this Bill Belichick was thirty four years old when he was the defensive coordinator who frustrated John Elway Super Bowl where your dad was twenty two twenty five. So he was thirty four years old that day, and that is when Bill Belichick star really began to rise. Sean McVeigh's thirty three. Three years old. He's going to try to find a game plan. This time that's going to make the genius uncomfortable. And see things that he hasn't seen before the the only thing I and so I think I think his legacy is I said, well, this is a legacy week for Sean McVeigh. He's gotta do this show McVeigh's coach another twenty five years. He doesn't build his legacy this week. He could lose by twenty points, and people will say man, he won the NFC championship with a tiny bit of an aspiration. Thirty two years old thirty two years old. So. Excuse me. But my whole thing about this. My whole thing about this sort of match up in this game is that I think that Bella chick with two weeks versus boy wonder would two weeks. I think some somebody's head is gonna explode favorable Sunday night. What do you think check tries to take away from the LA offense because that's always the book on ballot. Check find what they do best and take it away. Is it girly Dante Hightower mail slip the other day because he said he's expecting heavy doses of girly, which tells me maybe already telling them we're gonna game plan to stop girlies. He earliest kind of banged up. Is you don't know that we don't know that I'll tell you this. I don't think there is one of the strengths of this offense is that they don't have tyreek hill. And I don't mean that in everybody would wanna tyreek hill. He's unbelievable. But they were able to take away tyreek hill, but I would just say this like. If you say, well, jeez, I could take away Brandin cooks. And I'm sure they could if they wanted to write but Robert Wood is the same offense is just as important. And so you take away you'd take away one of those guys. Mike. I don't think there is a guy because honestly a big physical running back behind a physical offensive line. Like the Rams have. Right. You know, and C J Anderson. I'm not saying it can't work. But what I'm saying is that the patriots have figured out ways to stop a single person. I think that's a pretty multidimensional. I totally agree. You're right. I mean, you're woods cooks point is like, they're interchangeable. Yeah. Pag one of them has this is the guy this guy, whatever it is. I think it's going to be down to the like the inside zone when we show. They're running ability is the number three running team in football. And you talked about it. I mean, Bella checks old school. I think he's going to look at and go all the success golf woods. Cooks have it's awful play action and what they do with girly. And I really think they're going to pack the middle with three big guys play like that bear defense and cover the center and two guards. And then go, okay, we got big people here. Now, we can devote some people to the bootlegs the screens and the playoffs. Pass at least. That's my PM soaring Super Bowl. It could be heavy running from the Rams and that power running game. Time when we had the fifty four fifty one right back in November. It could be, you know, seventeen fourteen. I think it's I think it's a game in the thirties. Because look didn't you know when you were right near halftime the AFC championship game. Didn't that look like a twenty to thirteen game? And I mean, look, I'm not saying the Jared Goff is Mahomes. But I gotta tell you something I've been phenomenally impressed with Jared Goff. I mean, look, and and McVeigh told me a story for this column today, you've got to read the story that basically Jared Goff talk Sean McVeigh into running probably the best Passi through in this game. It was it was an out route to Brandon. Sideline the left side line. Right. And that that out route was supposed to be. There was a bunch formation on the right three receivers. And cooks was alone on the left, and he was supposed to come into the middle and McVeigh figured there's going to be so much traffic in there. The one of these four guys going to be open. But he said, wait a second. I don't want to throw it into a layered coverage, meaning AJ Kline was going to be between him. And Marshon Lattimore he didn't want to throw it over AJ Kline in front of Lattimore, he said, if we go to the outside clients, not gonna follow him there to double. Yeah. It'll just simply be single Lattimore on cooks, and I think I can win that McVeigh said to me said, hey, that's not what I would've called. But he really wanted it. So I ought to what on that play golf changed the play at the line in that immense thunderdome, right? Any change the and he made a perfect throw. And that really started them going on offense. All I'm saying is that golf's been really impressive in the postseason after maybe a month ago. When he had that crisis share of of the bears and the Rams even against the lions at Detroit he didn't play. Well, but I I think golf you got to hand it to golf. He's really good. Yeah. I mean, that's how you become a franchise quarterback. Yeah. Big performances in big moments in this is his autumn an opportunity. All right. Return? There's still that asterisk you mentioned it's hovering over Super Bowl weekend. The NFL has come the closest it it may ever come to admitting that a mistake was made last week. We'll explain that when PF to live continues right after this..

That's the number one thing you do when you're practicing against your team. That's who you're going against a game plan for every guy on our roster. What they do what they can't do. Because the only way I can be successful is by defeating them in. I know who bites on double moves. I know who's great press. I know the opposition. Like, I look at you mentioned tyreek hill. "Draft him because he thought art if he can take care of as a three four defensive in my passwords much like if Aaron Donald can take care of my pass, rush as interior defensive lime in the ability gives him another aspect of this game that I do not think should be discounted. We just saw what the patriots did tyreek hill at it to the list of number one options for an opposing offense. The patriots have just eliminated. I think it became most famous when they played the ram seventeen years ago. And they said, let's greatest show on earth lot. You can do what's not going to happen? Martial going to ruin our day. 2018 NFL free agency grades - Big trades, signings, moves of offseason

"Okay then kind of a slow little offseason since free agency and all that as you'd expect waiting for the draft to happen and all that but the rams blessed us was news to talk okay because as you know the giants are looking to trade odell beckham junior okay that's no secret and the rams were possible suitor for him and the rams did trade for a receiver and that was brennan cooks as you remember me telling you in the first segment okay and it's just a matter of now that takes out of the running for ob j obviously although beckham junior and i saw two that adam schefter tweeted out to and i never really saw much about it but i guess they were trying possibly talking to the patriots and i'm not sure how true it was or it was just a baloney rumor but they were talking to the patriots i guess about rob gronkowski okay in a whistling anything i'm not sure if it was anything serious or maybe it was but they were having conversations i guess that's what the rumor what's but the way they ended up with brandin cooks and they're getting him and a fourth rounder that's going to l a and the rams are sending over there number twenty three pick and a six rounder okay so the rams now have a i don't wanna say star receiver but a receiver who could produce okay how down your with the patriots matter of the scheme they're just didn't really work all right but either way here it is okay so with the rams you keep to leib you've brought in marcus peters you've brought an dominant sue now you brought in brandin cooks okay men tatum these moves and his thing with the rams is he thinks that they're doing too much now all right.
