Now these are people who didn't have heavy addictions or mental health challenges but they're experiencing homelessness is some form. They gave a hundred of them. Seventy five hundred dollars for a year and they followed and hundred in cathodes and other the differences insane like the positive benefits of being. How has been safe getting work. Some of them still had money. believe it or not with more money actual use of drugs and alcohol dropped right and that's probably directly to how they mentally how they feel that his way mentally right. So it's it's they're seeing people doing serve. They're like. Oh you know i could breathe. I knew i had that. I didn't have that that weight. I can move forward. We mental health by You know and also i even point to win a run to the wage subsidies at first you had people Who were saying. Wow like for once. I felt my paycheck magpie. Little side i can move forward. I can do this for a lot of people simply chesa income piece. It really is a pushes them. They need that little bit and you'll never see them again right and know. I think people sometimes get scared of that bottom line figure or won't be only encourage them to be lazy and not work now. I know you wanna have a purpose. I'm sure there's some people who who might on and then there's other things that You know there's other issues there. But i think for the most part people have issues and when you know that you're housing's taking care of that you're not going to have to look around for your next meal that you have a little bit of security. I think then you start to say. Hey maybe i'll go back to school. Maybe other job can i. How do i make a difference where you go..

"That's great so the record is coming out with february nineteenth to believe right. yes nice. Do you have anything else on the radar for this year releases. New project stuff like that. Well we we Alive in comas event. Which is going to komo the week before the records Where we fell ourselves plead the album old songs in a fear. Glasgow super bowl record that happening Other than that. wait and see. Wait and see if certain gigs happen again. If can happen again if any movie their experts lesson a need someone to score a movie for once. We are actually home. Could do that so yeah. It's just see what happens. Really is a weird thing with music. Just every miskin in a holding pattern and it doesn't feel like a record cemented and a couple of weeks because normally yeah. I've been doing a bunch of price but it's all phone calls and skype and it's not the same. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to become a full time musician. Right now. asking friends don't know. I don't know to be honest. The current klay eleven through. I think it's actually a pretty good time to be a musician. A lot of the barriers that were there we first started are there. You can get your music to everyone on the planet almost instantaneously. You know this is actually a low of Good things about being a musician these days. There's there's some choppy things to But yeah i think if you wanna go and make music gopher gordon have a blast or your friends. Make his beg of weird noises. You can have fun doing her. Yeah no i think. I think it's it said i mean people have people are really down on some of the negative things of music and they are. They're like as i'm not gonna lie. It's hard to make money from these days but we've went and played parts of the world. I can't even blows my mind. That people are music and the reason we got to go. There is because people don't have to pay for music anymore. So there's there's there's there's upsides show. I guess just to wrap it up your on a on a personal note. What are the things you've been doing to stay sane. Stay tethered during all this. Aside from putting out an awesome new record been about go into some other things going to do instant writing of of dogs. so they've been getting some pray. "I mean i'm not like a really super tacky paracels using my incredibly powerful computer kennel looking forward track so to be honest. I'm no. I'm no like pour it over a million different rivera sans or anything like that. Lets some sometimes. Having a lot of options can be a little bit dwelled. And but i'm too i'm too lazy to even think about it. Love it well. How much With with the new album as love continues. How much of that was recorded in lockdown Of last year or was it anything done before it was it was written completely in the in the like the we've at the moment in the uk. We've hardcore lockdown. Which is seem situation is when we wrote the record but when we recorded a it was when things had can of lake listen to hurrell. Bet we actually. We travelled to england to make their accurate. So that's like a five hour car journey or something. We were mainstream to coordinate in upstate. New york fed man. okay yeah that was completely impossible to to do so. The dave ended up actually still producing the record. But just with a live audio stream okay and and just a constant zim lenk suggests talking to us and twenty engineer about the records about music while we were talking about the takes. Which was was trait. Trippy we we've made records with dave before so we're gonna get relationship and yeah other than having to wait a few hours for dave to get out it works completely normally. It was just like making a normal record so you can have. It was normal but it was also announced to to make expedient just aleppo bit over comfort zone. So i can i think all in all it works out well I guess i mean so. Did you have any like weird Limitations or kind of effects on the creative process that is something you would try to new. Maybe you could emulate in the future if it was a good something. I don't know i mean it's not something i would want to do again unless it was needed and As much as working on the records went totally. Fine a mess out. Dave and his family in paterson have been over there you know just and has and has placed but and and also the fact that We've got a good relationship in a long standing relationship meet easier. I think it's harder to explain to people that you don't know something over a video screen if you do know them. It's probably a variation of a conversation you've had before so it kind of your can of on the same wavelength. I i know some other bands who who were going to do the same thing but it was with a producer that never worked before sydney decided not to do it. So i think we're we're just lucky that we can have had. That had that relationship. Can kennedy. Dave like an extra member of the band at this point..

"Yeah if it if it feels like. It's going to develop something more than you'll try and add some changes. Yeah i think everyone writes songs kind of the same you know. Something's gonna hear people. They have these. Like i know slightly. Grind was stories of their inspiration. And i'm like bill show. You just sat down and played until say the goods like everyone else on the planet but is changed with technology. Because no no i use logic. I use use a computer that i can economic Things up to quite a developed level whereas back in the day we started the ninety s and it would it would actually just be like going in with look like a very basic idea and everyone just playing in the room till till it sounded like music. Yeah you feel. Like technology is kind of streamline the the amount of time from inception to production absolutely. I'm like i mean even just like you can just immediately decide. What kind of sewn something can be like whereas before. Yeah you have to kind of just play our own until yet you had bandmates in the room to kind of decide whether it's a load or a quiet song or or like that. Yeah i mean as i it's definitely made things. It's just completely changed. It's like it's like the it's like explaining teenager. What life was like with a mobile phone. People are people are just so people are so used to some things know that like the idea of no existing would just go their mind. I had a similar conversation with my two boys who are under ten and as explaining put in when i was growing up we didn't have streaming. Everything was live on tv. And if you miss you missed it or maybe you had somebody tape it for you on a on a vhs tape like boo their minds like like why. You couldn't just watch it whenever you wanted like. That's crazy. Yeah yeah as the world is disgustingly. Convenient is really like yeah yeah. Kids don't know how lucky they are again. Things used to be a real ball ache. Like whoever catch the latest episode of the x files or whatever was not as easy as things that are. Well if i can go and back to the music so now with there. Being so much less hindrance did bringing an idea to fruition technologically. Do you ever find yourself in any way overwhelmed by the amount of options that are available..

"Ourselves maybe at times maybe a good old torture of the creative process. It's like yeah this a good. Nope nope shit. So with with your catalog y being so steeped in in kind of atmospheric instrumentals of various flavors you feel like it was a natural extension for the band to go on to score work. Yeah and it's something we'd wanted to do right from the very start but actually to someone can take a chance on as it was actually the documentary about the footballers on film sedan twenty first century portrait which was made by two directors. One one of which was someone when you And that was really opened the door and random at the same time we were involved with the phone and with clinton so those two projects could open the door for us because people are always very wary about giving people a show. Yeah guess films costs a lot. Money cautious people involved so it was after they end but everyone been going for we over ten years before they even happened so it definitely took awhile is something we're definitely join more now I guess who you know. Who would you like to collaborate with in the future. And i guess maybe just taking it. You know excluding trenton etiquette. Because i think we all know you'd like to do that. Is there anybody that you would love to collaborate with other than those two guys are tons. I mean there's this great sanger to like do something with like Pg harvey or egg paul or or something like that That'd be awesome. And i mean there's a million film directors only thing was kind of only really scratched the surface and it can be tracking a lot. People have people the always work with. You know the does definitely if you want to name. Any names Yeah there's a tiny of great military. We'd like to our friends to you. What is what does the songwriting process. Like with. Mcguire like where. Where did the ideas usually start. Well it depends. There's music me. I play guitar by mostly plays keys but plays guitar to dominic who plays baseball. I think he writes mostly guitar. So we'll just like just try ideas and our house just like a couple of cars may just melody. sometimes it's even just assigning sometimes Like a can of inspire you to being something that matches the stones but with me. It's mostly just like a court sequencer or or a basic melody. then it's just building up from there.

He did Really amazing strength section and played some extra sense and mega taro's wales so yeah it's it's maybe a may not be the last time with something together. Which would would be Yeah i would be. I would be extremely happy if that was the case nights so before we move onto digging in goods some questions we have about the new record. I did want to point out that even even with the four different credited composers on before the flood It was remarkable to me how stockley cohesive it was and i was wondering if there is any sort of discussion or planning of sort of musical vocabulary of the project or if it just kind of clicked not the i've call. I do thank The may have had a bunch of demos and and again. This goes bites my memory which is shocking. They may have had because what we quite often do. Sign tracks and i'm sure people do is is the the provide a lot of music very unfinished state and then people say yeah like that like i like about may be as quite quite seamless lesson to the whole thing and yeah obviously i think established users of The american string instrument that. I can't remember the name of like. I kind of like loops tight. Yeah it's har- type thing so that's very distinctive but the other recognizing that there's there's there's definitely a weird thread that seems to run through. Yeah impressed the living hell out. Yeah seriously like yeah listening to it. If i was listening to without looking at who whose songs were done by who. I don't think i could pick out and say oh that's definitely trenton. Atticus that's definitely this and you know it was it was. It was very very cohesive. Do you remember how long it took to to out how long you were working on the project from start to finish honestly like a couple of weeks. Maybe may i'd in the studio. Maybe even a week really not long time and which which is often the case with with certain tracks just because for some reason with movies and tv is the last thing to get. Sorry it's often end up can like record all night. Something needs be done for monday morning but it was pretty quick but it was it was it was intense but it was fun to the one. We've done the one we've done just before. It was a documentary about.

Were you guys kind of siloed from each other and working on your own projects or were you kind of collaborating back and forth a little bit and you know when i say collaboration the board really happened because we both played each other's music and the collaboration was that they played A piece that we'd written and we played a piece of adrian so obviously like we are in europe and they're in the state. It was all done. Densely also were brought in late into the project so we we had to turn around pretty quickly so it was really really intense. Nicely remember is we. The collaboration element hadn't maybe had been mentioned. Tells burgess he. We hadn't really absorbed built like we just go in the studio one morning and it was like. Oh yeah and we've done one of your songs. We were like holy shit. This is a major like it. It was it was a surprise. "Oh, that's. And then they're just having a conversation, and Sean you think boom head is gone. And then he lays down than bills like you think he's dead in Arthur's. Of course, he's Dan look at him. Like. But like, you said Andrea was so sudden just you weren't expecting it. Usually like sort of instance, you're kind of expecting a gunshot or something. But bam. Oh my God. I don't think emotionally torn up about that one mostly because it wasn't a character that you cared about haired about that much like his accent admitted just like show like he was still evolving relief. Yeah. It was fine. He was the definition of fine. But I do think it was it was a shock. It was a jolt to the system because it was just the timing of it. And the way that they put it together that way, but it wasn't like, oh, I'm so sad. Shawn's dead. I thought that way with a couple of the people where Mike you were just they definitely bloated the gang in my mind. So that they could then the gang, and obviously you knew going into it. If you played red redemption Bill makes it out of your makes it out Dutch makes it out like you knew those things going in. I would've said they bloated just to kill them off. And let's say that those characters added a lot because I liked I like Sean little like Irish clips, right and hit the relationship between him. And Karen, it was fun to watch those two bicker. And when I saw his death. I was like dang. I'm not going to get any more of those that you guys see the when they win the tent and blinked. No. Yeah, they go and attend. They blink. Oh. They're all very drunk. They totally had thing for each other. And it was really funny to know. Yeah. That said anyway, I think yeah. I didn't I didn't get that those what the base Braithwaite. I also like we were talking about. I love those two characters. I can't remember name. Sorry spent eighty four years or locked. I wish I mean, the boy and the girl. Yeah. Yeah. So it's P and. What's his name just finish this quest though it, but I don't remember. I know 'cause I just did. I just did wanna Penelope's 'cause I I almost didn't do her last the last mission for those. Oh, ho. Oh, Bo, and I really liked their story. I thought it was really cute. I really like Penelope a character thought, she was really progressive, and it was fun to see that in that eighteen ninety nine and see what Bo, but I wish we would've seen a little bit more steel like if there was some content cut out to you like it could've been something expanding on them because I thought that they had a really fun story and chemistry and then they leave. And then that's kind of it. You never hear from them again, which I guess is. Okay. But I would have liked to see more of them. I feel like there should have been more. Maybe along both of those houses to the ground one of them, quite literally, right? So grandma Braithwaite kidnaps, Jack, which was a pretty surprised turn of events for me that I'm like how did they get Jack away from camp was nobody like looking after him hundred you race raceway so close to can. I mean, but they're supposed to have a perimeter around the camp right security thing. And it was like I was like, okay. I guess it makes sense. You know, they're gonna kidnap him. I was like, please. Rockstar. Don't hurt the kid like don't do anything to them. Is fine too. Yeah. And obviously he was fine. But like I thought that was really fun moment. The first moment that like the whole gang is coming together. And you have that that epic cut scene were all walking down the right road. Brian. They all got their guns and their like, we're here to fuck. Shit up. You know, it's awesome. I think we did this with jackass. I'm great. He's so young in this that I don't know..
