"They're trying to make those deep passes each and every time you know he's coming in with the ability to get the ball out the fastest league. You bought the best people to talk about this because you face both teams you faith. Kansas city you lost them and you lost in the divisional round to the to the bucks. What do you like about the chief in this matchup. And what do you like about the bugs in this match up. I don't like nothing about either. Say i don't have any sort of nothing about nobody but if you say you know who's more dangerous i was you know. Maybe tilts the scale towards the The kansas city chiefs when he talked about tyreek hill. Being one of the fastest. In the game you talk about travis. Kelsey being the best tight in the game right now. you talk about what chris jones can bring into in terms of that interior push And of course you know. I'm always rooting for former. Saint and alex okafor. I think that you know they have a slight edge with mahomes being playmaker that he is able to. You know we'll deal and push out anything he wants to. I mean he the throw left hand. He'll throw crossed the body in the middle He'll throw no look passes. I mean the ability for them to surprise An offense is second to none in this league. What what what. What makes home so special. Because you don't watch. I mean you get an opportunity to obviously you trying to get him on the ground but you watch them on tape. You watch him on fail. What makes him so special his ability to make those types of places that you don't expect you know he'll roll out right rollout left till i mean if anything again. He's always looking for. these downhill. Plays a lot like play russell wilson. He escapes the pocket. And yeah he's still looking downfield to make those big electric place And at the same time you know he is a bigger body. He can take off with his feet. So you have to be well aware you're trying to keep them in the pocket at the same time you still trying to get to them. I mean He's somebody who can beat you with his arm. So cam what happened in that. That game at new orleans late in the year december twentieth. When kansas city visited getting the score is thirty two to twenty nine. So it looks like you're in the game. But i look at the time possession. Moths had the ball. Forty one minutes to your nineteen minutes and kansas city went nine out of eighteen on third down and your offense went one of eleven and yet you still just three point shy. Break that down for us. That's easily done. We were looking forward to rematch. If you look at that time of possession and you see how close the game is we like the way we were matching up. We just didn't finish the game the way we wanted to slow. So who you picking in this game. You got to pick something. i know. You don't care who wins but you gotta get you gotta get with some km. Look to look. I can only privacy to two. Things is going to be a red team. That wins it. And it's probably gonna be a quarterback who's won the superbowl to win it again..

"Because it didn't work for me. My last year in college will say about the bruce arians. Very much is a is a player. Coach goes through his career. Everybody loves him. He is a class act. Do you think almost because of that. Persona mike he. He's underestimated little bit. As we ask that you put your finger on it. I think people people look at areas or looked at aaron's and say you know oh big play throw the ball you know that's it and you know they. They ignored. I think todd bowles Going back going back to arizona. They ignore to an extent the job he did that year. He coached in indianapolis when chuck pagano had cancer and was out. He was the interim coach of choice and did a brilliant job with andrew. Lock without killing him at least at the time. Because that's been the thing and that's what we said about brady going there. Oh it's going to be brutal. Because brady brady doesn't run. And he leaves quarterbacks in the pocket. And i mean that was the book on him though. The critics yeah. Yeah exactly exactly well wall spotted and i think that's been part of the reason why the bucks have come alive. Offensively the second half of the year was that adjustment period between brady and arians. You know and we're brady wants. He wants to be able to get rid of the ball quickly to spots where he knows either receivers going to be the zones going to be open going right back to where we started and arians is willing to wait for receivers to get open deep And and that's that would be a recipe for disaster with brady thing you could do you know and and I think they've come to a kind of accommodation where the offense is kind of a mix of that. They're still willing to take those shots downfield and he's got receivers to be able to be able to do that but you also see them. Running a lot of stretching stretching routes Quick release but godwin in particular cross. Animal scotty miller who is in Troy aikman terms. Has you know. Surprising speeds sneaky fast For radio receivers. You scotty miller on you referred to on the show anyone does. I'd like to. Who was that guy. So yes so. You know. I i i think i think you've got to coaches who on the surface both appear easy going but are far from it right there. You see andy occasionally when he's fed up with a cut with a referee in particular. You see you see kind of you know means side of him. And i think with eric. I think with areas you. Just you see how serious it is. By the way he's been able to adjust and and just one last point about areas and all he basically said it himself. I think and i've been saying it since spray since brady went there. You know if not before tampa was not a seven and nine team last year We when we said that when we saw them play it at white hart lane when we did that that game on the radio this is not a seventy nine hundred and this is. This is a ten in six kind of team. Maybe eleven and five. If you take away. Jay mrs turnovers you know which you just can't avoid. They lost three games yet because of arkley on interceptions or fumbles in crucial spots. Where were they were in the game and you know and yeah jayme is through. Tom brady threw for four thousand yards. And you know what. Jay mr for five yards. But but you know it was like it's like the cut of interceptions is worth the extra thousand yard. It's basically and brady threw out forty touchdown passes instead of thirty. You know but but that to me was the difference. He was joining a strong team and they made it stronger in the offseason. Not and this is without without brady but you know just just making moves that made that team stronger guest sides the boss so i wasn't surprised at all You know they'd they made the playoffs pick for for that for wildcard But i'm a little surprised at how strong the playoff run has come. And they. They remind me of those two thousand seven giants. You know a good late season run of for an eleven and five team was playing at their best going into the super bowl. Yeah get down the ride the hallway or berry mike. I know it is early doors. it's monday there's a lot that still needs to get what you leaning one way or the other leading to the bucks to be honest There are there are miserably doors. There are a lot of things i think to me. The difference in this game is how much you believe in patrick. Mahomes it's a quarterback. Stay but i felt the same thing last last week against green bay and they overcame aaron rodgers. Now they had. They had some breaks in doing that but what they did mike our listeners. Of course can catch you on. The b broke cost sunday. Yeah it's just a good old days with el chapo back and oc the j. bill. So you know. I look forward to the fireworks. Brilliant stop carlson. Well look forward to seeing that course. I'm sure everybody out and come back and see a soon. Yeah My my patron column which is patch dot com. Fm my Mike carlson fm. Probably make picking that. I hadn't picked games all season In that although i've done really well picking as you know from our radio show and asked me to do that. I find when i over think i picked raw super bowl record. I'm for for sixteen years. I'm well over not well over. I'm over two-thirds of games right up until the super bowl. And i have a losing record and super bowls because supercomputer get your head. That's right the more. I think the worst. Well look what supercomputers picking and go the opposite. It'd be my maybe flip a coin. Okay that's my call soon. F f. m. t. patriot call calls f. m. t. That's the college going it out. Check it out. Go and get the super bowl pick and plenty more besides look after yourself..

"I and we time at the dancing. It's a huge huge thing. It's it's quite easy to underestimate. Just how relentless exposure is right and they and they've got all kinds of things to contend with right now. It's the meteoroid ups and the scale of everywhere they go in the super bowl is in their face but they've got family they're going tickets out all of these things as well which which aren't going to effect in this time around but game day itself and you talk to players and they say whatever we've been told and whatever we've got ourselves prepared for mentally when you're suddenly out there and yet you're hearing the anthem and the jets flying over like this is what i've been gearing up to my entire life pretty much. I was a kid. Do you think that side of the super bowl. even though there's going to be like a third of fines in comparison normal still be you know the the anthems the jets the halftime show and that slide on game day. Do you think the the moment that plays a lining up in here in the anthem. That the sense of occasion the scale that this is a super bowl. We'll feel exactly the same. Yeah without a doubt because of their beautiful thing called television they know the world is watching even this year when no fans were in the stadium you saw how guys would go to the sideline cameras and engage in that they knew people were watching and they can feel that of that fuel. Is there and most importantly you know when you get into a game. You issue sideline you know for me. I could kind of feel my sideline and the guys out there with me. And i will say this though the magnitude of the game. They're definitely going to feel it. Guys are going to go out there. The pressure is going to be on. Oc says something. I'll never forget and you gotta listen to a guy that's been there twice. He said all of that's happening all of those emotions but when he get out there and the first snap happens it's gone. You're in the game. It's like hey. I've been here before. And the guy the teams in the players that can do that are the ones that have success. That's why having a guy like tom brady. So essential when you're tampa bay. Obviously kansas city. Was there last year so they have that experience. But you need somebody or several people that can tell you exactly how to get over that mountain. Which is the pressure. Let's look at that. Let's look at that match. Brady mahomes is the big narrative of course right. But i wanna get your take on. Not just the van. But how the respect of defenses are going to stop right because two of the very best brady of course the greatest of all time. The most accessible time mahomes the way he's going he's going to be you know similar trajectory and look back to back rings. The last quarterback to have done that of course was was tom brady. Let's start with him. Ten super bowl appearance looking for his seventh ring. These brady hates is still won't shut up all season long. They be right now. They're saying now they made the superbowl. Let's say well. I mean tampa bay will get anyway. It's the defense getting it done. So it's incredible that despite everything there is still people and i'm referencing all those years in in new england. The system quarterback the application. That eddie or many other quarterbacks could have stepped in and done a similar job. He goes somewhere else. He takes care of business. He's in a super bowl. And i well the defense got him there. Some people just can't be placated but put them right. Jay bell talk about an incredible achievement. This is for tom. brady come on. This is amazing. And i see why tom brady gets a lot of heat. Because it's it's so easy just to say he's great so let me say something else right right. Let me have conflicting statement or point of view. I mean but it is the thing about him that i i was here to coach. Talk about him. In this made sense i think it was jimmy johnson speaking on him and he said something that made a lot of sense. They're like tom. Brady bill belichick. And he said this he said did they draft. Tom brady in the first round. Was he the savior of the organization when they brought him in there no so somebody developed him. Somebody already helped him get better and that's coaching his early years. You hear people talk about how much time bella checks spent with him teaching him about defense teaching him about what to look at what to see those early years and obviously that's what's that's what has made brady brady yes. He has all the intangibles as far as work ethic and things of that nature but the guys football iq a student ruth because he's had great coaching. so is he a system guy. We all are. If we're lucky you know we. We're lucky if we get coaching but what he's done is so amazing because this year he has taken a team and he has made them accountable in a way that they haven't been before. That's the brady effect this the brady effect so yes. He has great players around him. The defense great. He wants super bowls before. The defense was great in new england. They carried him early in the years but the brady effect is what he demands out of you as a player as a teammate. It moves throughout their locker room. It was the same way people talk about. Willie mcginest when the patriots on defense like willie locker room bill. Belichick would would say that. And that's why they were tough so certain players people follow and brady and what he does and how he's done. It is just amazing because what he puts on the practice field every day and then the games every week people. Just get on board the ship. Let's talk about the identity. Then this offense that brady's brought in as you say. The winning culture emphasized that and out of course brought the cavalry with him as well. Right will gronkowski retirement. Antonio brown was a very much a reclamation project even lead for net right who was top five over overall picketed lost his way and it will be in the nfl. He suddenly bowling again. Do you think that's maybe the most significant thing here the density he earth the tampa bay offense has been found. As the season's gone on kansas city..

"He has the best game of his life as a pro last night against the Packers was that say about the Packers? It says that they're Aaron Rodgers in some guys, David, Blaine, you guys for me with magician. He's a allusion l'anonima -sition illusionist, right? That's what Aaron Rodgers does for Green Bay and every since he's come there. And I remember the first time I saw David Blaine, and it was amazing because he was. Is in the Cowboys locker room, Michael Irvin prime time. They were in the locker room and he made a guy levity and they ran out of the locker room every time I see the Aaron Rodgers. I expect dislike, Blaine. I want to at least see a man Levin because I've seen it before. That's my expectation. I've already seen them before. I know what he does every time I see him he's on TV special eventually does a bunch of stuff goes into a query them all that kind of stuff. Get shamed them. I wanna see somebody come off the ground because my expectations I've seen him do it. Aaron Rodgers usual like this. When you when you're going to expect, I expected to minute drive not once twice the same thing he did last night. I'm not gonna say I wasn't impressed, four hundred twenty five yards first time in NFL history quarterback back to back game four hundred yards. No interceptions yes, but I saw make people come off the ground. This is what Aaron Rodgers does for this organization and you're right, but we think they're better than what they are. Is this really a SuperBowl caliber team only because of what you said earlier, which is he can get hot for a month. They need him to play this level for a month and to get a little lucky like that is what they have to do to win a super what has to happen then for the team to look and say, this isn't enough. It's not sustainable. We can't rely on him in the fourth quarter of two minutes left every single time, like what has to happen because he was out last few and you saw what happened with the team and they said, we don't need to fix anything. As soon as he comes back, we'll still be is just too early in the season. He's a football coach, but ultimately. The gentleman's yet, right? He no longer resides there. No, they got rid of how many coaches, five. Oh, Aaron Rodgers. Not going anywhere. But next conversation jenner's about the head coach. That's the only thing you can conversation about. We've got draft capital. We DB's. We spent some rush of some rush guys. They have not developed. We change some of the coaching staff. We got Aaron too indiscreet as far as contract. The next conversation is about that head coach. Is he the guy that makes the difference for that organization? As Manzini says, is he a force multiplier? And they're still huge question marks as far as how Green Bay Packers actually move forward and improve. I think one of the things you have to understand when you pay a quarterback that much money and he's making a ton of money, and that eats up that much of your salary cap, what you have to have and make no bones about this. Just because you coach in the NFL does not mean you're good coach. There are a lot of bad coaches in the NFL. There that have cer-. Right? They have survived because it's old boys network. Okay. So there's a lot of bad coaching. You had better figure out how you're going to develop young players because the way the way it operates, I call it the seventy thirty rule. You thirty percent of guys make seventy percent of the money. That's how your cap operates right now, your cap, essentially seventy percent of your cap is eaten up by your top ten guy, eight guys in your in your fifty three. So you damn well better have coaches that can teach young players how to play at a high level in this game. That's what says the New England, Patriots. It's exactly what sets the New England Patriots bar the why. Why do they go to into every September intern, the Super Bowl because they take a bunch of young players. They coached those guys. They teach him how to play football. They develop them during the course of the season..

"I was trying to figure out I if it was kind of a sarcastic cheer, but I felt like it was a pretty heartfelt encouragement after he made you know four field goals and three extra points. So he was obviously very happy afterwards, and we're very happy for him. I stink. Are you more impressed with Aaron Rodgers was able to do with the end or are you more worried and concerned that this this game came down to the very end against Jake Beth third in the forty Niners injured as they are. And Kyle Shanahan is a really, really good coach, and he puts his players in great positions to win their physical football team, though. Run it. I really have a lot of respect for them in that regard. I'm more concerned about the Green Bay Packers and you know, you gotta think about this. Now they've fired five coach in the offseason three on the defensive side offense, coordinator, quarterbacks coach, Aaron Rodgers was not happy about firing the quarterbacks coach, and you're in a situation in this happens to great quarterbacks. I think Peyton Manning was in this. I used to say all the time back in the day when Peyton Manning was with the colts. I'm like, he covers so many wars that you think you're a lot better than you really are. They're eight talent, you know that are twelve and four every year because of the words that that guy covers. And then I was I was way off because he left with a neck injury and they went to and fourteen. I was like, no, you guys are way less down. I thought you were. I think that's, I think it's an issue. I think you create you create this scenario where that guy play so well that you think your team is better than it really is. And I think you know, Ted Thompson was another guy. They. Removed from being the general manager. So that's that's a big concern for me. This team is, I mean, this team, the San Francisco is beat down. You've got to step on the throat to the people that are be down at home at home, going into your by knowing because Rogers Senate after the game, he knows what's coming up after the. Bye. How about you go to the Rams into the patriots and back to back weeks. This was a must win. Gotta have it game at home extra day to prepare, and you need Aaron, Rodgers magic, come on like that is that's what they need every week, right? I'm glad they do to win. They need him to be magical. I'm glad you brought up the colts because here's something that's unfortunate, but it's a reality of Peyton Manning's era with the colts that was an underachieving Europe, not by Peyton, but by the organization, you have Peyton Manning for the better part of fifteen years. You make the Super Bowl twice went at once. How does that happen? Tell you out happens because you have the ultimate band aid that you decide. Okay. We can make it work with this guy, but at least Payton had Marvin Harrison than Reggie Wayne Dwight free. And then Robert Mathis at least he had some guys that we can say, okay, there's a couple of gold jackets plan alongside him era. Just got nothing like that. And at least Peyton at Tony Dungy era doesn't have that either. Like it is I, you made the point see to give Kyle Shanahan CJ Beathard credit. And I I would like to do that with with that said CJ Beathard prior to last night, under Shane hand was one in six with seventy one rating and fifty six percent completions like.

"Get to eighty run for hundred ten to build a beach you. So there's a number believe the Vikings will be better at the end of the season. They get some type of running game with Dow and cook believe there is a margin right now, but when you have a quarterback, are you have special type players that I believe are in in of? See, I believe when you get in that tournament, it's still makes it very, very dangerous. I also believe that it's important at the ram can stay undefeated along so that their fan base since it's a special season because at home field advantage going to Los Angeles, no one knows what that what that would be like. But I just believe football in January and LA would be pretty special if they have a fifteen in one season fourteen and one regular the so that the momentum continues into the postseason ivory. That becomes very, very important to make sure that no one wants to come to the Coliseum in January and how big the gap will they have six wins. The second best team in the NFC has four. So I mean, that's pretty big gap through two weeks to be two wins clear the field. I think that is about where it is. I think that's about accurate. Orleans. Probably the second best team. They're the only other four win team. And then you got a bunch of teams that are three and two, three, two, and one a bunch of teams that like I think the Vikings can be really good, but we also saw big warning signs about the running game that they have not entered and about their defense that they're starting to answer, but we also saw them head to head. Yeah, in the Minnesota Vikings, not playing will look like a good football team when they were going against the rent, which is why I think the home field is the biggest point of this because it's not only about where you don't have to go. But it's about where those explosive quarterbacks don't get to play. We know where Rodgers can win a game in the snow. We don't know, Jared Goff can we know drew Brees can carve you up in his dome. We know he's a different player on in the outdoor. So for all those reasons, I totally agree. The one seat for them is of critical importance by the way under Sean McVeigh eleven. Oh, one away from home, ten and one on the road and one game in London. So eleven and one away. From home, they've lost their games at home, but I will tell you this defensively, you mentioned that you mentioned Donald. You mentioned sue, unbelievable edge pass rushes issue for them. Yes. But when they get when they get, keep delete back, keep to leave is one of the smartest football players in the National Football League. He actually meets weekly Sean McVay to go over strategy. And and I mean, this guy is phenomenal, and he's a soundtrack of that defense and they have missed him. And yet they're still six, no without one of their number one players. And he has made a huge impact on Marcus Peters in the rest of that defensive secondary. So that's something to watch when they get him back healthy and that is a formidable defense that struggled here. The last couple of weeks stink stay with us coming up today. "In Denver to see the Broncos lose to the Rams you call the game Broncos have now dropped four in a row. Coach Vance. Joseph says, quote, everyone is fighting for our lives stink. How bad are things in Denver right now? Well, they're bad. I mean, you can't lose four rogue couple that with last year losing Nate in a row. I think Vance, Joseph is one in ten on the road since he got there as the head coach of the Denver Broncos and then you go to the jets and you only get ramshackle them. You gave three hundred twenty three yards. Rushing the first team in history to give back to back Russia's for two hundred yards. Is it bad? Yeah, everybody everybody's on alert. Everybody's job is on on point, right? Everybody except John Elway John Elway just like his quarterback. He got that hit coach thing wrong. I hate to say everyone ain't cut out the beano head coach, and I don't believe that the Broncos have one is far as their head coach. I guy prior to get fired right there in them. If they lose Thursday to eras on Josh Rosen a quarterback, they could drafted five by the way, then I don't know of fans, Joseph survives it to the next week at Kansas City. I in the latest would love him. Bowel reports were that bell would show up sometime this week thinking was that he choked up in week, seven Steelers by week at paid, and then actually play in week announce being reported. The Steelers are not expecting beltway return this week after all stink. What do you make of all this? I just is so interesting to me that we as players have all thought to make the league better that we could get paid, that we could get taken care of that we could get insurance that we could get all these things. And here's a guy fighting for his right to get paid to get a long term deal, not a fake long-term deal, but a real long term deal with guaranteed up from money and the players in that organization. Have sided with the leak. Never. I never ever at any time in my life seen and then now it's like, oh, well, why doesn't Levy on wanna be here? I wanna play with you guys either. Wouldn't. Why would I wanna play with you a bunch of Benedict Arnold. I have never in my life and you can sit there and say, this is this is why to me, the Steelers are the one of the most talented teams in the in the National Football League, and they'll win a lot of games..

"When the receiver runs off the db, his eyes go with the wide receiver. He's not looking at the quarterback, but let me tell you what you do. Three man to four man rush. You take eight guys in all eight sets of eyes and keep them on the quarter. You dropped seven guys in the coverage. You rush four and you got seven sets of eyes on the quarterback. That's why you're not able to do this over the course of a season. And that's why in the play offs, you're not able to advance because even if you play action the linebackers, it's not as distinct of fake because the linebackers aren't planning to running back to man to me because prior to this week, historically, Blake Bortles was more effective runner. They enact Prescott the quarterback in that game going into that game who had a better history of running. The football successfully was Blake, Dax career-high, rushing was forty five yards. So as much as the Cowboys talked about it, I would imagine Jacksonville, you talked about how you would have your team at least once a quarter once once every quarter of a season. Once every four games throw you a go route. So the other team had in there in that game. So they have to worry about it. There's no four or fourteen game studied prior to this past week where a team playing Dax like man, he might run the ball a dozen times. Let's just go back. The beginning of the season, everything with expectation dowels with their lack of playmakers which one these guys is going to evolve. Imagine we had the same storyline. Same question we have right now. Well, Dax going to run more. Would we have been excited about that before the season? No, this is the way this offense is evolving because of Dax inability to build a throw to football now stink makes a great point sixty five seventy NFL place. All right, so I know I got thirty five runs in their baked in there no matter what. It's other five ten plays. What do I do with those? Because if you give those today, he goes from on twenty five times to thirty five times. So I understand what stinks trying because as a game plan, we're trying to get them sixty five seventy plays and give yourself the best chance of winning which that would. But once you get to the playoffs when you have to be more explosive, your margin air becomes real small. All right. Let's take a break Mark stick around much on this and other things. I love him. Duck mouth all. Our Lady and bow turn some heads with its latest decision Wiki here. It's next. Thursday night football returns this week as Miller in the Broncos battle Josh Rosen in the cardinals, and I'll start the seven thirty eastern on FOX NFL network and streaming on Brian video. And call it the game on. Speaking of dog back with Clara, right? That's what you that's speaking dog. He said they need you dog. So I leave that on there. They need. Bruins speaks up here to let go of Tom Brady before the pats quarterback ran into the end zone for a touchdown Sunday night, speak said that the new rules were on his mind during the play, but that he does have to finish the place e, what do you make of this? We've seen this happen before, but the emphasis own the quarterbacks and landing I can understand. But more importantly, they had defensive pass interference. They would've had I and down on the on the one yard line. Anyway, it was third down and four scans which was holding in the back of endzone so they still would have scored on first down. I'll tell you don't be stupid to tackle Zach guy. How will you be thinking about the rules about thinking about your job. Whole thing about the rules while they're doing their job, the job little too fast, but that's what they are expecting the the A lot. lot. When you're trying to make a play, you're just trying to make a play, stopping the good people league office. Okay. "That's gonna take some time. All goes a five step, dropped ball's. Gonna be out like that. So a five step drop more. I know the balls out I can attack line of scrimmage. I can actually run block that. And even if I with, they're not getting my quarterback because balls out so quickly. So when you have the integrity of balance, you have an opportunity to take an offense of line. That's been marginalized to some degree because of injury, and because of young players and make them really good, make them look like they can shine. And that's really what happens when you have that going on. They have in Dallas last week, Jackson NFL teams do adjust is a sustainable to me. No. So I disagree with one the reason why is his only two quarterbacks in the recent NFL era that have been able to do it in do it successfully in the reason why? Because they're freaks of nature recently Cam Newton when his MVP season, he's the only guy that's been able to do it. He's also the best running quarterback in the history of this game when people say, well, what about Michael Vick? Michael Vick was unable able to do in his team to the promised land. They get to the Super Bowl Colin Kaepernick. The other guy, only guy that could do it why he's a free six, five, two, twenty five to thirty. And neither one of these guys came a little more so than cap. They don't get hit square an awful lot. So that has a lot to do with the Shawn Watson, we saw him last week's game. I mean he got banged around he, oh, I can do this. No, you can't laps lung. There's only a couple of people that been able to do it. So that's the reason why he s you can win a game or two. Yeah, you might build a win your division. You might be able to get through the wildcard round, but in the end of it Cam Newton, what brought him down the rush of the rush of the Denver Broncos in his inability, throw the ball down the field. Colin Kaepernick had one play the Bill to win the Super Bowl, throw a fade pattern to Michael Crabtree. He couldn't build a dude at. So ultimately at the end of it, the guys that win and win big in this league, they do it. From the pocket. So if the Dallas Cowboys as long as that is their quarterback, if they want to run him, no, you might win a couple of games, but as a fan of the ultimate, the Super Bowl, you're not gonna build a win the Super Bowl and why? Because the history of this league it tells us that has proved out to be in two thousand eighteen. It's more important to have a passer than ever. The score of this game is misleading to how the Cowboys offense actually work. They scored forty points. You would think, okay. In today's NFL score, forty points down the field pass. It's not what happened at all. The reason why I would temper my enthusiasm bit. If I were the Cowboys despite Dax performances, tax, rushing threat, didn't add. They're passing attack his right around his average for the year, which is sub two hundred yards per game. It all is gonna come back. We can ask this question a lot of different ways. It's gonna come back to the same answer right now, the Cowboys. What is their problem on offense? They have a quarterback who at this moment is limited. ID throwing the football down the field, and they have the least explosive group of wide receivers and the NFL I add in for just go on that list. Well, not anymore Goodwin be attracts our last night and bureau..

"Concern. The rest of the AFC regarding the pats as far as talent is you saw Tom Brady try to get Josh Gordon involve more earlier this past week. Now it looked to me like there were two times he went to him and it looked to me both times. Jeff. Gordon wasn't exactly where it was supposed to be that Brady expecting him to cut his route off a little bit shorter and he went longer. And then there was a pass in the end zone where Collins, seven, broadcast, I think it was right Brady expect him to sit down on the soft part of his own, and he just kept going across the field. If Josh Gordon over the next ten weeks can stay on the field and can get more in sync with Brady than that more of a talent equalizer than I anticipated the patriots being able to bring in midseason. All right. We gotta take a break coming up on the other side talks and Cowboys has Dak Prescott sobbed all douses problems on offense. That's next. Back here. First things first joined by old friend with new takes March slayer. You go does apply. You went with the two n n j. Yeah, that's. Hi. Margaret costs still talking about the Cowboys who managed to pull off the surprise of the weekend beating the Jags forty, two, seven. That was a surprise, their offense, rents movie. That was a surprise into top it all off. It was led by Dak Prescott who used his legs to his advantage. A queer eye eighty two yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. Just opened everything. As I said, some of it was it was called runs and just read options, and the end gave us the Redick, keep it. And then a couple of them are just madman protection or man to man coverage and the protection, solid able to get out of the pocket and make them pay at that point a minute was they needed to get a spy makes him adjustments on their part and just opened up, opened up everything for offense. I think the first couple of games we wanted to see Zeke run the ball more and then they finally gave him more carries and we were excited than we wanted to see what dad could do if he was able to run the offense a little bit more his way he ran for eighty two yards and we were happy, but how sustainable is that? How much of a threat can the Cowboys often speak if they hand the ball to Dak and ask them to run? Well, I mean, again, I think I think the thing you have to understand about this, the integrity of balance. When you have balance, then you have a defense has to defend multiple things. And when you have that you could be successful. You take a lot of pressure off an offense of wines. I think that's a big. I think that's a big issue with them right now. How sustainable is it? Well, how willing is Dak Prescott to take care of himself? How Williams he disliked down and not take a hit because I think it's, I think, in my opinion is probably changed on this over time. I think it can be sustainable if you're had eleven carries if you know five or six of those designed runs. But when you're running read option stuff, you're just reading the defensive end and then you're getting around the edge without like there is you'll see everything in front of you are not getting blindsided. It's not like you're running quarterback counter between between the tackles. So I think it's, I think it's a sustainable thing for them. I think the biggest thing is it takes pressure off that offense of line when you're able to run play action game like that. And I always think about it this way. I always wanted to know every quarterbacks drop and how long that quarterback was going to hold the ball for on a particular on particular pass route. So I knew anything. It was a deep over. I knew that, you know, that's a seven step drop..

"The old game used to be the regular season was one way and. The playoff. It was even more physical. You can't play that way anymore. So some of Brady's experience and a huge margin. He has owned the gap on the other quarterbacks is minimize because it's easier for everyone to build throat. A ball won. The obviously the pats have better overall defense than the Kansas City Chiefs. But there are two areas that the chiefs are much better than the patriots and and as far as slowing down the chiefs offense, I think they might be the most to to most critical stats. One is the pats are dead last in the NFL sacks, like one way to slow down this offense is to get to Patrick Mahomes. They couldn't this past week in one of those interceptions he threw was just mistake. The other one he didn't see Dan, regardless of what New England does that will not. That's exactly what I was going to says. They do not have the talent like an I know what Bella checks not going to do. He is not going to all out blitz and put his secondary out there where they can make big plays against you and get big chunks of yards. So that is one as flawed and as bad as. Chiefs defense is there to best defensive players are there to pass rushers Steve Ford in a contract year and just in Houston. A guy who's won defensive player of the year in this league before lease had twenty plus sack season in route to twenty million dollar your contract. So the chiefs will be able to get pressure on the quarterback and the other spot where that patriots have been very bad defensively. This year bottom sixteen in the league is third down defense, and you got to be able to get off the field against this chiefs team. We saw it the beginning, the first half count, beginning second, pardon me? Senate, man. There's a must score for cancer today at a third into and they hit Kareem hunt for touchdown on that play the chiefs deep into the one thing they've been good at is third down defense. We saw it to a degree in the pats game on that I drive when they forced the patriots into going for it on fourth down like, so even though I agree with you dead last in yards, that's a problem no matter what the pats have their issues as well, and that sack number that that's not they don't have the reinforcement comic. They don't have Justin Houston coming off. The injured list that's gonna come to help them out in that regard. Big as the talent gap between these two. I know we just really touched on here, but looking at two teams overall have because the town cap between the patriots and this thing, if you look at just talent and we're going to have a strength and a strip, a sparks test and everything. Of course, Kansas City is going to win. But the one thing that's not important is how how talented are you and how can you play football? And the one thing that New England players hate in the hate year after year after year, we never give them credit for being good football players. All we talk about as Bella check his adjustments. All we talk about as Tom Brady, but they got a lot of good football players on that. They know how to win, so that's not foreign to him. So yes, Kansas City has more peer athletic ability, but Bill Bella check in the way he coaches the greatest coach in the history of the league. He negates that with getting his team to build a play, putting his players in the best situation for them that take advantage of their own ability and the thing that should..

"Now in December and New England has passed all those things with flying colors like so it's it's not a matter of Xs knows they have Tom Brady Bill Belichick. They face more adversity than any team out there. It's the patriot in how they do things is is what I have to trust more. Now, Kansas City has a lot of town. I believe they're off. Will be explosive. It's hard to be last in yards per game in think you're going to trust that defensively because yeah, I mean that right there that's time of possession right there. So you're going to have game would if you have bad weather and what if you have a game, where team has the has the ball thirty six thirty eight minutes how you gonna win those games. You have to play a perfect game. Can't turn the ball over so puts a lot of pressure on offense. That's why I gotta trust to the pets more. We both sat here yesterday and said that we believe the chiefs are better than if this game were in Arrowhead. They would've won that the patriots played their perfect game. Ten more seconds are. Chiefs got the ball last. They have one and that the chiefs have reinforcements coming in the form of Justin Houston and potentially Eric berry. I still believe all of those things by also think you have to trust the patriots more because the patriots, we know they can sustain injury. We've seen them do it. We know they can execute a playoff comeback. We saw him do it two years ago in the Super Bowl last year, knaves championship game against the Jaguars. What's the chiefs playoff memory blowing a three score lead to Marcus mariota at home. That was this past year. I understand. It's a different quarterback. What's right? What's Andy Reid? Great. Playoff memories with the chiefs there aren't any losing the game that I mentioned. Right. They're losing a game to the Steelers where you score touchdowns. They score non, it's at home and you still lose that game. Like for all of those reasons, you have to trust the pass more even if you think the chiefs are better, even if you think the chiefs are more talented that what they earned and what Brady's earned. And I don't coach mate. A very interesting point yesterday when I pressed him on our if you don't believe in Patrick Mahomes, what young quarterback do you believe Djabel even Carson Wentz and he said, well, I'd like Carson Winston a playoff game before I say that as much as I believe, Patrick Mahomes is a star in this league. His first playoff game, we saw nerves at the beginning of this game against the pats. We saw him miss a touchdown, pass to cream hunt on that wheel route. They hadn't. It wasn't that some great coverage. He just missed him. Like, what are the nerves going to be for Patrick Mahomes in his first playoff game? Because I'll tell you what Tom Brady's nerves are going to be none whatsoever. It's going to be whatever playoff game they played start their postseasons going to be roughly the thirty fifth biggest game of Brady's career. So for all those reasons, I think you have to trust the patriots more. The one thing that Tom Brady has over Patrick Mahomes is the one thing he'll always have over Patrick Mahomes until he goes through it.

"That's I doubt, Robin Hood dot com. Six is in the book, but we are still talking about some of the best and had to offer namely chiefs and pets. New England might have one Sunday night, but the Kansas City Chiefs certainly put on his show on national television. Patrick Mahomes nearly pulled off a miracle comeback against Tom Brady leaving quite the impression on the New England quarterback. Offense, heat delivers the ball. Those guys have a lot of speed. They catch and run with it. You know, tyreek sale play there at the end was pretty spectacular. You know, jump up, you know, catch the ball on and ability to celebrate his. You know, there's no one like the NFL. He's just he's so talented. So between Kelsey hunt, Sammy Watkins, you know the way Mahomes can throw the ball, it's it's going to be up to stop those guys too. So they got they got a good team. Sure. I'm sure they'll be there in the end. One thing it was noticed about Tom Brady, he watches the game even when he's on the sideline. He knows what everyone else does. He he's so tuned into how good his opponents are or when he goes to game plan against them. See which team do you trust more moving forward, the patriots or the chiefs. It's hard to say you trust another team more than you trust patriots because it's not Xs and os. It's all the situations that lead up to it. It's all the players over the next ten weeks that are going to be hurt all the just moments that you're going to have to make who's going to reinvent themselves week after week, which team will be better..

"Couple of these rookies that he had not been on the same page within training camp. He was just perfect Aaron Rodgers last night, and that's what's so frustrating. You need perfect Aaron Rodgers to steal a win at home against CJ Beathard and credit to Kyle Shanahan because you're right man. It does feel like give them a quarterback, give them a couple of weeks and he will scheme in up and so I gave him a ton of credit, but you're at this if this was in San Francisco, I feel differently Monday night game on the road for Green Bay. Okay. Fun to have this game. Come down to the wire at home before your by when you've already been shaky, but you have an opportunity because the bears lost because of how your divisions looking this. Huge game and Aaron Senate after the game because of who you have coming up. Next, Aaron brought it up. Visit me looking at the schedule. He said, we got the by. Then we got a really tough slate, two games coming. We'll see who we really are, who they are right now is Aaron Rodgers in some guys and Demonte Adams is a good player. I think Kenny Clark's good player, but they're not getting helped him in my mind from their coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball from their head. Coach and Rogers has to make magic against a team. You shouldn't have to make magic against which everyone here knows and agrees. He's fully capable of doing the tough slate, two games, you say, coming Rams and patriots back to back in the road blind the road, which is going to be tough houses. Stain -able is it to say, no matter what happens. This guy's going gonna bail us out because next, right? He had to play his absolute best to beat CJ Beathard and the forty Niners at home. Oh no. You forget about just Aaron Rodgers planet as best. But this defense not only running but passing, and now you're talking about going against those. What do you think those teams are going to do? And they have quarterbacks far more capable and weapons more capable of them what the Packers faced last night. So I would be concerned minute if the Packers had lost this game. I mean my goodness. I don't know what the story lines would be, but might McCarthy them. They can wake up this morning and realize, yes, we do have Aaron reiver's, but the next couple of weeks, man, this defensive, it's not better. They're going to get through this game to me was a perfect microcosm for what the last half decade of football in Green Bay has been Aaron Rodgers covering up for all of the words of the team. Aaron Rodgers covering up for what I think is an uninspired game plan on both sides of the ball. Aaron Rodgers covering up for what has been a franchise that I feel is squandering the prime of one of the greatest players ever. I hate to be negative after team gets a great win like that. And I know the people, Wisconsin they were watching the NL CS. They see the brewers take it. To one lead. They flip over this Rogers. Execute this two minute drill to great, great. But you look at this from thirty thousand feet. You let CJ Beathard and Raheem Mostert Moster run wild on you. Like that's what you let happen. These guys that were were third stringers on anyone's depth chart to start the season. Those guys put up thirty points in your building. Those guys had it to where we're Aaron Rodgers needed a vintage performance, and I don't wanna take anything away from the vantage performs because he executed two two minute drills in three minutes. It was perfect, but it's really concerning for a team that I I think a lot of people thought going into the year Rogers healthy..

"Hall of fame, Chris Carter. Got big mega millions plan. Oh boy here you. So you're the one that is convinced you're gonna win already. Spent most your money coming into work tomorrow. Let's go get this today. We contributions from everyone. This is your last chance. Got it. Success l.. Let me found in Pittsburgh, but our for stories are big story, drama, plain out at Lambeau Field, Monday night football Packers hosting is pick this up with Green Bay trailing in the fourth under two minutes to play Rogers Davante Adams in the end zone tied at thirty Rogers four, twenty five yards passing two scores next drive that was CJ Beth rd picked off by Kevin king. That was too much time for Rogers with ten seconds to go. He it's Adams who had a hundred and thirty two yards on the night setting up Mason Crosby a week after he missed five kicks against the lions Crosby nails the game winner this time as time expires all orchestrated by that guy right there, Aaron Rodgers Packers win here is Rogers on his kickers. Redemption. It's very apropos. What he you went through last week. And the team, the stick with them guys to kind of wrap arms around him and courage them. The way that we do for our teammates was was great. And then he responded, you know, the crowd, my thought was very encouraging. I was trying to figure out if I, if it was kind of a sarcastic cheer, but I felt like it was a pretty heartfelt encouragement after he made, you know four field goals in three extra points. So he was obviously very happy afterwards, and we're very happy for him. I. So there's two ways of looking at this game. You could look at and say, boy, Aaron Rodgers, unbelievable game yet again, or you could say, you know, the Packers should not have gone to in this situation where they were this close against a forty Niners team who is not playing well, see which one were you more impressed with with Aaron Rodgers? Or were you more worried that this came down to the very end serious concerns about Green Bay. There's no way the game should be contested as it is, but you have to give credit in hand the staff there in San Francisco, getting the team ready, getting a backup, quarterback and CJ Bedford ready to play. I mean, I've love his play calling for them to build to make his mini big plays against his Green Bay defence, you know that right there would have to cause you concern. But on the other hand, you have to look at it was cow Shanahan got a quarterback Ray to play is couched Shanahan really the quarterback whispered. Look at the impact that these hat on quarterbacks impact on Maddie ice forget about the MVP season. But when he leaves not only. Cleveland when he left when he left Atlanta and now him being with Jimmy Garoppolo CJ to me, that was one of the things Green Bay. I'm concerned about them in cal- Shanahan getting his team ready in a young quarterback, ready to play on a big stage Monday night. I was very, very impressed with them and what they did offensively. What Rogers did last night was magical? There are reasons to be concerned about Green Bay, and I know we're going to get into those, but he had to perfect two minute drives. The second one wasn't even a two minute drive. He went, seven plays sixty seven yards in forty three seconds in forty three. Second, he he got from his own forty five down to a chip shot. Field goal, four plays in nineteen seconds. He was in such total control on that final drive of the game where he kept looking over to McCarthy one more play. And then with six seconds left, no. Let me get one extra play, just. So when Mason hits this field goal, we don't have to kick off that was the play wearing his throwing it out of bounds. It was perfect ball placement. Yes.
