"You never have a college football coach going into a lame duck year? Never Because it could obviously be used against you in recruiting. If you don't have a contract passed the next year. Every time you go into a home of a kid of a recruit that opposing coach One of the opposing coordinators. Whoever's handling an opposing recruiting job is going to say. Yeah. You don't want to commit their Jim's not even a contract. Coaches, even a contract. If he's under contract. Not only is he not gonna be around all the people you get to know in this recruiting visit, they won't be around either. What a coach leaves a college football place They cleaned house. They don't usually keep around most of the coordinators the support staff of the recruiting coordinators. You get a whole new staff in there, so if you don't have that next year under contract Whatever, kid you're recruiting Has to think, man. By the time I get here, you won't be here. And none of the people that you've sent to my house or that I talked to on the phone or face timeto texted with. They're not going to be here either. So this is extraordinarily rare. And either it's because Harbaugh Does not want to be tied down. And he knows that the end is coming. He's getting a little finicky. Four. The administration doesn't want to double down on horrible because it hasn't delivered. Produce the results that it seemed like it would when he took over. The San Francisco 40 Niners were in three consecutive NFC Championship games with harp about the helm after years of being to crap it. He took Stanford and made it into a Pac 12 power. He took over this Michigan program. We thought, well, mohr of the same, He'll make them right on par with Ohio State, and they'll compete for the Big 10 championship every single year and It never happened. He has not been able to be Penn State. You can't win his side of the division. If it's not pens stated spent. If it's not Ohio State is Penn State. And they're not recruiting at the level that the Buckeyes dio nowhere close. They get a few kids. But they don't get Ohio State kids. They're not recruiting nationally. They're good for the big 10. They're good recruiting for the Midwest. They're not recruiting against Alabama. Or else you are Clemson. They're not recruiting at that level, or Ohio State. So I think that this is all part of Harv on knowing that this could be coming to the end. I don't think that they've either side has made that division of decision officially yet. I think that for Harbaugh He understands his effectiveness wears off. You know what Harbaugh likes. Harbaugh likes being the big bleep. He likes being the big bleep in town. You know how you get to become the big bleep. When you Overdeliver. That's how you become the big bleep. And he has under delivered in Michigan. This is better than Brady Hoke. It's better than rich Rod. It's not what fans thought Jim Horror ball would do it. Eight Ohio State So I think he realizes his effectiveness as a leader. His come for as a leader happens when he has final say, because hey, can't argue me. I win. If you didn't have that final say, didn't have that Ace card. What does Jim Harbaugh have? He's got an immense ego. He enjoys conflict. He's hard to work with. Harbaugh's winning big..

"A J heading Jackson, even Chris Evans, probably to a degree, just getting on the mission. They didn't have an answer in space outside and every time you know you saw them attack the usually it was positive. I mean, Ben Mason have like a 12 yard. Ah 12 yard play off the edge for crying out loud. I mean, they had the ability to do that. I think ultimately is that when they play teams that they feel like going into the game, they're going to have a physical advantage upfront, and that's going to be their default that they're just going to go back to that and say we're just going to bully Well, you're way out of this and then come back and try to repair what we need to repair later. But we're going to survive. Doing what we think we do best. Which is push people around. And in this game, the interior of the offensive line just wasn't what they thought it was, You know, I mean, that it was just a misjudge on their part. I mean, the guy's just weren't capable of doing it and they got exposed. I think that's the that's the long and short. It was just That game was won. And lost in video rooms, practice field team meetings the week or the weeks leading up to a bottom line. I mean, they were just were not prepared to play football on that level, the way they needed to be. Part of that can be tied to you know, I mean, we're in a pandemic, but also both sides Aaron a pandemic, and that's why people are frustrated, and that's why people will sit there and say that that's the worst loss of the Jim Harbaugh era. And that's why it's hard for everybody who's seen every game. Of the horrible era to argue with that, because There's been a lot of rough ones, but they don't look prepared are the ones where you look back and say there's no excuse? There's no wiggle room out of that. That has to be better. And there's nobody that would argue with that. Not in the building there and not certainly anybody outside under Well, what I think I almost said, embarrassing. But what's what's what makes you pull your hair out of your head? If I had some, I just You're you. You It's a pandemic. We know the situation is 2020. I get all of that. But you you prepared, you marched. You did everything. You You have a young team. You go out for that first game and you give everything And yes, they had four weeks, maybe five weeks to get ready for Minnesota. That being said. Look, you got a transition. You gotta did its football. So you think the end these kids are used to taking that taking that playbook down, So you run the best place, But why not use For the life of me. Why not use your quarterback? What he is, is a mobile quarterback. A dynamic player may let you move around. Let him drove the ball instead. You put him back there in a pocket passing. You can see we're getting Nick and I hate to say this. We're getting be on TV twist again. I mean, good God, It's just it puzzles the mind when you see something that that Michigan State used to do, and I'm in the radio in the Brady Hoke. Era, and then it comes, it shows it rears its ugly head again. And we can't We can't solve that. So I guess my Mike is its coaching. It's it's gotta be. There's more coaching them players, you, Khun. The players would do what you tell him to do, but you got to tell him to do it the right way. Yeah, that's that's the reason why I think everyone was so frustrated and you know, understandably so I mean, they have hell, it'd players. Michigan has more talent. Michigan had Michigan's offense was more talented than the defense. It was playing again. I mean, that's There's no objective evaluator of talent in the world of football that is going to look at that game and tell you something otherwise now there might need, you know, a case for underestimating some of the talent of Michigan State side. I think that's totally fair. You know, I mean, No guys like Jacob played in the middle of defense attack. It was a really good player to play one last year, but is a good football player. You know, Simmons know Harvey, these guys, you know, they're not, you know, they're not Ohio State starters. We're not chumps. I mean, they're good players. Maybe better than you know, maybe you would have thought. By watching that Rutgers game and that's all fair and well, but like The other day, this story better players and they still had every reason to believe that that game was going to be what it what it should have been. And yes, I mean, it comes back to, you know, disjointed preparation, Not enough. You know, not enough answers. Like you said in the bag. I mean, you have to be able to in the middle of a game, you know? Go back to the sideline. Someone's taken something away and have a new answer for it. You have to find a way to fix the problem. And that ultimately and it's again and I don't know if you guys do and I don't believe it. I think just getting Marcos because offense makes lot of sense. I think a lot of things they do make a lot of sense. But This program. From the last I would say from, you know, 2017 on and you could even go back even further than that. There were stubborn losses before that. I understand wanting to worry about yourself first yourself most and not worrying about noise or whatever else They don't tell people that well, they don't help people The way people scout them. I'll say that you know, like I was the last time Jamie or dead. It was less than we've seen them go into a game. Like what? Mel Tucker's team did come in here knew everything they were going to do on offense and defense and just snuff it out and just, you know, play against a team with equal or greater talent and just have an answer for everything they were going to do, because they knew exactly what it was gonna be before it happens. That's the thing that's missing here in some level as well. There's a lot of things that are missing. But one of them is just being better prepared about what you're going up against. And stop having the stubborness. Arrogance. Whatever it is, you think that you're just going to Be able to in some of these games. Just run people over mean They're good, intelligent, but they're not again. There's a line right? It's not a lot of state. You're not before some of that off, so A lot of it, I think is in preparation. Most of it is in preparation and a good number of it a good portion of it. I think it is. You know, you got to be better. Better prepared about what you're facing every week and be willing and unable to have answers for the different challenges the different teams present and not just say, Well, we're Michigan. We do what we do in jail with everything else. I'm just gonna figure it out. I mean, it's just not helpful. Bulwarks and Jim are bundles that everybody there knows that. And I think they have to get back to, you know, seeing the whole picture a little bit more as they go forward here. It seemed like maybe last year's Notre Dame game in the rain had pretty good. Ah, Game plan their work? Yeah, maybe I'd also put number seven in the green and white on that that list of guys that you didn't know about the pretty good football players that They came up pretty big, Big Nick..

"The only way any coach gets fired in this cove ID season in which we're playing. Now ended a year. Right now. It looks like he's on the outside looking in. It was just a terrible loss and one that is going to sting every Michigan alum like my first call of Patrick, Um, for years. If not decades. But they're going to play next weekend in a week after that, and he's going to get a shattered Ohio State who we absolutely positively have and hasn't been able to beat. But if Ohio State is undefeated and on that Saturday, and I don't know what Saturday it's wanna jump coming. Saturday's I haven't looked at Michigan's particularly schedule just yet, but If he beats Ohio State, then maybe goods arrived. But if you add that to losing to Michigan State getting trumped by Ohio State again Then all you're doing at the end of the year, is hoping that there's enough Rumors around the NFL that teams want Jim Harbaugh. That maybe just maybe you can get out of paying the guy because he's got years and million dollars millions of dollars to go on his contract. And if your Michigan in tough economic times because everybody's in tough economic times The kind of bill that comes do that is painful to pay is one for a coach who is no longer even coaching. You're paying them to not be on campus. So Michigan will not fire him in season. It is certainly trending in that direction. I think they'd prefer to see Jim say, I'd like to go to the NFL at the end of the season. So did they get out from underneath? Pay em. There's a lot of ground to be covered before Jim Harbaugh becomes the ex coach of Michigan. Chris from Pennsylvania's up on CBS Sports Radio it, Chris Thanks for taking my call. You got it. That's a lot of the Michigan alum. But I have been a fan all the way back to the days of both Sham. Bechler and I don't know. Where do you even start? I mean, they make Ohio State look like a bunch of geniuses. Where they can get an assistant coach and Ryan Day. That's better than Michigan, you know, confined ahead, coach. You go back to Brady Hoke and Rich Rodriguez and Jim Harbaugh, and it's just like This is the best of these guys could do a little scouting the coaches for Michigan, but they need to be fired along with hardball, and it's just it's pathetic. I mean, Ohio State is owned them for the past. Who knows how long they'll I lost count? How many wins in a row? Ohio State has against them like they have been competitive. It's not even a rivalry anymore, but Yeah, I don't know what else to say. You say that It's about time to move on from coach Harbaugh. And as I just told my previous caller, I hear Lee believe it is trending in that direction. I think that's the way It's looking right now. But again when you have as painful, a victory embarrassing A Ah, I shouldn't say Victor he lost for Notre Dame lost for Michigan a victory for Michigan State as painful losses. Today's You want to stem that pain immediately. You want to find a way to make the pain stop. And the only way you make that stop is by hearing me.

Michigan Ohio state if Harbaugh can do it this year. His career everything is saved. Because of one wing, he should have had an to under sixteen I will will forever stand by that and two thousand fifteen we lost in Michigan say how we lose a fluke fumbled punt, but we dominated that game. We have had close opportunities. And there's one thing that will save this man's job at personally I don't really want to see her goat. But at the same time I can't continue to see US lose to Ohio state I can't. And I've seen the English the analysts on TV, whatever what Michigan fans aren't you happy. Yes. It's nice to actually have success be a successful team because before hope before rich Rod. And after Loyd car, we weren't we were terrible. Yeah would be the highest state in a dismal year for them congratulations Brady hoke. But going forward. I'm tired of losing to these guys. I'm just tired of it. "Former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards with the guest and he a show earlier this week and had this to say when he asked about the notion that Michigan was falling behind Ohio state of the football program falling Phil is passed it will light years behind a house they right now my biggest concern is done being on this is I know the the pressure and I know the specs and I know the risks what I'm really looking for I know the if this and they put on that mission. three hundred sixty five days a year they are breeding living hating became the say our name you can fill in on that I you can almost smell the hate when you play against them now from our point I remember interviewing Jim Harbaugh's codes are what two years ago and he said we approach it like any other game. and I look let Brady Hoke I yes says something similar so that's not the way you approach the game and I know it's cliche is say well you know you you approach every every team like to approach any other thing as be by you post and he is definitely we got to start approaching a game from the standpoint that date. buyer cell that Michigan will finally be how state this year Jim Harbaugh its fifth attempt. so. I believe last year I thought it was the year for Michigan. and I have. three of my friends to them went to Michigan. one went to Ohio state and I joined the Michigan side of the debate on this because the highest state fan he's kind of a sports fan he pretends he's a bigger sports fan any actually is compared to the other two and I've known the other two longer and this one friend in particular that bridge for highs state I get under his skin very easily and I control him very easily so that probably took a big factor in me taking Michigan in this side of the debate but since I was all in on them last year I thought it was the year Michigan they look like they were going to be able to get it done and they did it I can't buy Jim Harbaugh in the big game and believe in him until he gets it done so could happen this year am I going to bet on it nope won't do it after getting burned last year. this year's team USA basketball team with the **** of jokes as they finished and just seventh place in the FIBA World Cup many of the dominant all stars that typically participate in international competitions did not play leaving a roster led by Donovan Mitchell Kemba Walker.
Jim Harbaugh on Urban Meyer: 'Controversy Follows Everywhere He's Been'
"He and Jim horrible had some interesting takes on his old is old master I mean his old urban Meyer urban Meyer has dominated this robbery not just in the Jim Harbaugh era going back before Jim Harbaugh urban culture house state for seven years you want every single one of his match up against high against the Michigan including last year's domination was sixty two to thirty nine a blow out over the Michigan Wolverines last season at the horseshoe and Jim Harbaugh ways on Tim telecom these podcast was ask about urban Meyer who's no longer on the sideline he's in the booth for fox but this is what Jim Harbaugh had to say you know what I don't know if I disagree with us know whether he should have said it okay let's hear it or you can be judged on his record and what your record is overall what your record is within your conference and what your record is head to head matchups with with the other teams that you play right now how soon is the only team that has a has a better record than us has a better conference record in us and has the better head to head match up with this into your action when urban Meyer retired yeah he's really matters had a winning record the really the normal record everywhere is bent on also controversy follows in the words all right so that is that's a T. K. show on the athletic podcast networks in Carroll County bay area obviously those horrible from his nine or days and there is a really good reporter was with the mercury news for years I I listen I want a great concession by horrible he's got a winning record he Jacko by the way you know speak you said he beat him four times three of the four double digits right so they pretty much smoking over including last year but it the question is at what the question but the point is Jim Harbaugh's not wrong he's not he's just stating facts controversy has followed urban Meyer wherever he has been in its I don't know if it's if it's relevant because we all know that these things happen and go warning college football so is it worth the coach said in it especially if you might get helped up more these things somewhere down the line saying Jim Harbaugh's done anything but the fact that he's been dominated by urban Meyer it feels like sour grapes feels like we just but I can't beat him so I got a taste of the bad about it you should take the high road but herb is not there anymore herb is not on the sideline at Ohio state it's Ryan day now who hasn't had to replace a quarterback in Blaine Haskins who was phenomenal a for the Buckeyes last you were fifty touchdowns and obviously a first round draft pick in Justin field who came in from Georgia transfer market he's got to take over so it's like he's throwing gas on the fire that November thirtieth matchup between Michigan at the big house this year in Michigan house day it'll be better when it will be lively but he's supposed to win now yeah because of the transition that's going on it I'll state and the fact that he's going to do is fifty year he's got his quarterback for the second year in a row this last year we got she batters it is finally got his quarterback Jim Harbaugh is gonna find a way to you know take them to the college football playoff because all we needed was his quarterback great I didn't happen last year and you get a second year with the same guy it better happen this year he's not a **** I'm not buying the viral he's not on the hot seat that's going to happen but whether or not he's getting the job done at the level in which we thought you might that is obviously open for debate is all real or is it all one needs about championships allegedly at Michigan that they don't exactly it's about beating Ohio state they don't do that to me what is it really about look they haven't won a title since ninety seven missing and I get to think about where they were before Jim Harbaugh came there I wasn't good Brady Hoke rich rod behind and you weren't even like paying attention to me war because this Michigan yeah I work say and this team has a chance to win a national title was in the conversation any surprises in your one yes with ten ten to three ten and three is one ten times three out of the four years that he's been there a year two was eight five you lost a lot of guys on the on defense the NFL going to try to to be fair right yeah not to look I I urban Meyer never has those excuses I dictated doesn't have those issues that's because urban Meyer has controversy following him

"My show. What back? So you talk about that team up north. The remain nameless. It's like saying Baltimore. So I'm going to start Harbaugh because he's he's my favorite guy. I mean, even without the silly pants. But to beat those pants off him every it's like he knew that the Ohio State players when they beat Michigan. I'm sorry Pima up north when when they win that game that they get the golden pants trophy. So he's wearing the golden pants that we can just take right off of him. On an annual basis. So I start him. And then and then a really a pretty close second would be rich rod because he was he was also very fun to beat Brady Hoke. I dunno actually just seemed like he was ready to leave. We got the interim. We didn't have a headset on. So he didn't know what was happening. If I was him. Great to see you. And you. As always as long as the street keeps going it's always going to be. The full full like Lou Holtz. I think we can do it on. I'm going to talk about the opponent men. All of a sudden sixty burger later, you're back to counting. What do you got over there? It do it. As Lou Holtz. I'm not doing great to see you, sir. And again, I'm not here is in select theaters and on demand a special film. Not just because your wife co wrote it and directed and your your daughter appears in it and your son had a lot to do with the music, and it's just a beautiful film that you know, if you're having a mid life crisis, probably not the best film to see around. No, maybe it is. Because at the end of the day. It's a thoughtful in hopeful and beautiful story. I guess I shouldn't be pitching. A film saying this is not the movie for you to see it is the movie for you to see. I apologize again. I'm just working from you know, sixty feet. That is a that's nuts. Come on that we're moving the mound back to fate. Now. Let's just start the ninth inning with the bases loaded. Right. Well, and I don't like the guy on second base. Right. I mean, I got injuries. But everybody's injured. Whilst remember at your combine. We were all wondering if you were tight end or wide receiver too. Because I mean you played. Yeah. I was trying to figure it out too. I started playing football late. I was basketball star. So when I switched it was just put me on the field. I'm gonna make a play. How who who made that switch for you? I did. Okay. Why? Because I I started losing a love for the game of basketball. So I had to figure out some nose to to make give me your game. "The money that michigan generates that stadium was half empty with brady hoke at the end so brady anybody that coach michigan would make five million a year so harbaugh's making two and a half million more than any coach they'd have to the bottom line is is he worked two and a half million a year in attendance and merchandising of course he and we know that the players don't get paid so we know this is all in comparison to that as well but i i don't think he's the bigger point of that story to me is that he's not going anywhere he's finally luke walton has reportedly been in the hot seat since team has gone six of eleven without lebron they've slipped from fourth place to tiber nine in the west in currently add the playoff picture but according to your bleacher report jason kidd is among the potential placements and even the favourite to succeed role in it the lakers make a change so jason kidd's been fired here's sound that i'm hearing is gaining momentum jason kidd returning to the coaching ranks by succeeding luke walton with the lakers i know the kid wants to coach again in the case of jason and the lakers now sources are saying this has gone to the next level and that if the lakers do make them move on loop which based on all of the rumblings could happen sooner rather than later kit appears to be very much in the mix and possibly is even the faith if jason kidd ends up being the head coach of the lakers before the end of the season i would not be surprised wow now i have a question do we definitively know 'cause everybody loves to fire coaches right do you can you absolutely swear to me that jason kidd is better than luke walton are you out winning percentage i don't care about that this is my thing if you're gonna fire loop then you would make an obvious upgrade brad stevens people would say is better coach than luke gregg popovich rick carlisle eric well who dies well look at the guys who the bronner's tried to fire or gotten fired and look at their replacements did you think that tyler was an absolute upgrade from david blatt why what about what about i mean what was good for them in that situation but i don't think anyone looks at situation like of course tie lou he was the obvious choice that i thought they were going to bring in no you weren't saying that i get when notre dame made it coaching move from charlie weis two brian kelly like brian kelly had a history of winning everywhere he wanted grandview state he wanted cincinnati like there every there was absolutely a clear track record resume of this guy's been a very successful college coach i'm for if you can get a better coach that i can't even argue with notre dame said this guy's one everywhere then i'm like okay by the way you know the guy vander i went to penn state franklin james franklin one at vanderbilt okay like go to penn state you're like okay that's a real coach you can't tell me jason kidd but on luke wall that jason kidd is an upgrade from an obvious obvious upgrade from liqun i don't even think that this is a fit i don't think that the person if if the phone is to be replaced i do not think that they should replace while to be clear but if they were to replace them it's going to be somebody that is fit with lebron it's all about lebron we talked about this earlier you sell out for lebron so whatever it is that's gonna make lebron comfortable is who's going to be in that position not necessarily obvious upgrade on the.

"I live in England and support an appalling team Millwall. And honestly, if you're supporting a team called Millwall you've already lost. So he said the idea of a winner appealed to me when I was ten years old. I have no ties to Chicago. And I'm just about ready to say that right now twenty five years has been enough. I'm going to find this tough as I'm fully committed to this bull's team. And I can confirm that Liam has said several great bowls emails over the last three hundred bowls emails over the years. They're always pretty good. And he says I'm jealous of the Australian fans who pick teams linked to players of their nationality against Joel Freeland is the best UK born player and then Trail Blazers legends. Lasers. Yeah. So he, but he says look following Chicago is taking its toll. I notice gone from a mild mannered affable guy to a drill. Sergeant who has his children completing. Purpose before breakfast and telling them, I'm juiced for their school reports. Please help me. So he's channeling Boylan their Boylan lifestyle has gone across the Pontiac, drew spreading. What do you think though? Because look he did get he got to enjoy six titles with the bulls. Yeah. But you could just call yourself Jordan fan rather than a bulls fan. It's okay. Leeann like, I think that's a pretty obvious just exit strategy here. What his Email reminded me of his great documentary on Netflix called Sunderland, which is about this UK soccer team that falls from the Premier League down to like the third division, whatever they called over there and how the fancy live in their town have literally nothing else going on. They've all been fans for their entire life. It's like a big story club is amazing stadium. And so there it's just like the whole documentary is just watching their lives fall apart and how horrible. Everything is for them in like, it's kind of an economically depressed area. And so that kind of adds a layer to it, but reading LIAM's Email in Washington documentary. There is a lot of overlap like I really feel for both fans right now, I do too. I would not recommend hopping on the Joel Freeland bandwagon and your wagon into the blazers of the players are not in a great spot either. So let's say just keep it agnostic for. Now, you yourself at the bulls my advice detached from the bulls play the field. You know, you watch games with an open mind and see who strikes you and the bulls, by the way every bulls fan can can look at the current management structure and say, look, I'm out until you fire gar or Jim Paxson, and that's perfectly fair, everyone should probably do that. And then because I can relate to that. It was like Brady Hoke was the coach Michigan. And it was like God. I it's. It's so hard to watch the games. But the day they fired him. I was like starting Facebook groups to celebrate like I was all all the way back in. So that's a good way to look at it. Just take a extended sabbatical until the gar packs era ends that's how I'm gonna feel when the wizards do the wall for Conley deal in ten days. It's going to be amazing. It's going to be our best Pat podcast ever shots. John hollinger. Bend says. Hey, guys, I got into basketball a couple years ago. I was a Hornets fan because they were local but this season I was at a game..

"Three podcast while the back. Glad you're here on a Tuesday afternoon. Just get or guest to come as we continue. Glad you're with us. We gone around the horn a couple of times today. Let's continue with more calls. Antoine is in Michigan. Hello antoine. Very doing think we are. Call. Thank you. Talked to before Paul about Harbaugh. And and you know, I think a it's like he he he's doing what bow sim Boeckler is like let the coaches coach. And that's one thing about saving. He don't let his coaches coat. That's why they just leave because he wanted a power star there, even though he is the head, man. But it's a power struggle. But Harbaugh, you know, you gotta member Richard Reid took us back all the way back. I mean you see offense. It took us back and Brady Hoke wasn't no better coach so Harbaugh got to get those players in. And he's learning on the job. You know, he's learning quick from NFL to the to to college that you know, you Joe position coaches, and you remember that he didn't have a quarterback coach he didn't have receiver coach, you know. And then Greg Maddison I'll be in Dita's left but the rinse for him because I think he was doing a good job anyway. But you know, I think they're going to turn around because if you member, you know, highest they had the same problem. You know, they couldn't be Michigan say they sold Cooper had all those talent Eddie, George all those guys. And all those guys they was ranked in the top three the country. They couldn't be Michigan the say they sold. And now, you know, they they got a guy they had a couple of guys coming here and beat miss and now as Michigan trying to get those guys get a guy in here to beat them. So, you know, I always turn to tie turns. You know? But I'm I'm I want you to think about this. Why did it higher state coats? I mean higher state quarterback Haskins left at the one year. Well, he left because he's he's projected to be a first round pick paw. You do you think he really going to start? Really what I think you listen. He's got a chance to go. Go pretty high. You know? That's that's the thing. You know? It's a difference from NFL too. It's not it's not a draft overloaded with quarterbacks. You know that I know I know, but it's just different you like, you know, he's a shotgun quarterback. You know, even though here who let me let me ask you. Why did he leave? I think urban Meyer man, I think you know, that that, you know, you know, even though I don't like urban Meyer, but earth, he got he got he's he he's a genius now when we come to often and he put he put he put his players in position to win the game. You know what I'm saying? And. I, you know, I think you know, when he left I think I think he saw the writing on the wall. He he was out of there. You know, 'cause I one year at the one year come on out for you don't leave at the one year start. You know, Android, the we will not know the answer to your question until April twenty-seventh, and he goes in the first round we have the answer..

"But at least make it to top four spot that once you make there, you got a chance, and you know, Florida they prove they'd be LSU. But you see whether they they beat the the thing national championships. I guess you'd call him. But when the peaceful arena KPN's downfall. I think you're in good shape Zachary with thanks for the enthusiasm. Great to have you on new all a lot of speculation about. Or Jalen hurts is going to end up especially with Dan Enos heading to. Miami. Jalen hurts his in his in college park Maryland today being wooed by Mike, Alexa. It'll be interesting to see where he indeed ends up is in Fort, Wayne, Indiana. Hello, Wayne, Ray, go right ahead. Happy new year. Paul. Touch basis John these players leaving. And then these coaches, they want all their oil tea, and they they're they're scumbags. Perfect example, this guy Jim Harbaugh hired, Greg Madison. He was under rich ride Regis. He was under Brady Hoke and him. And he he was a huge Michigan fan from sixty to two thousand six this guy. I was taking pig picture day down to my daughter, my son, and he tapped me on the circuit. I've been ripping for four years as Michigan always has top five recruiting class. Okay. And he says Ray, I didn't listen to radio, but I heard ripping us, and I said, well, how come all these Nebraska can keep winning asked. We can't all we got one hundred walk too much later 'cause cars getting ready to get fired. The weasel goes the Notre Dame because he says his kids can get free education. Then he goes to Ford for two or three years, then he comes back to Michigan for eight years. He just went to a high of state these cu-. Comebacks they take these jobs, and they want them to be loyal. But they're they're not willing to go to all these other. Rival these schools to make money. Right. It's it's a it's a free enterprise system. And that that does have. Hey, thank you. Call the good to hear from you. Charlie is up next in Alabama. Hey, Paul, I've wondered you bet your reaction to the. Information, but customization designed journal whatever their back bakeries that Jalen hurts has been offered playing position with TCU. He's supposed to be going out there. I don't know where he's gonna end up. I know there's a lot of speculation. No, he's visiting Maryland. You think you'll look at Miami? I I've read that TCU would be on his list that is his native state. But I do not know where he's going. But I very disappointed, of course, that coach saving did not put him in after two two interceptions and couldn't quite figure out defensive alignment. And he sat there on the sideline stood there on the sidelines ready to play and could have done put it did the Georgia game. I tend to agree with you on that. I think he he did mistake. Make a mistake by not at least giving Jay when a chance, but listen that was never he was never gonna stick around. That's how I felt no lot of people called and tried to. Will him to stay. But that was never going to happen. Thank you for the call for sheet. It Mitch is in Texas. You're on the air go right ahead match. Paul. I won't even a minute. I do have a couple of questions. But before I get to that. I wanna tell you this. I am a I'm a sports reporter sports editor in Kilgore news herald. And I grew up in west L and my dad, and I used to read you and see every morning you or I guess it was in the post herald. I can't remember who already afternoon paper by in or not. But just wanted to tell you after all these years, that's one of the reasons that I became a sportswriter where UNC so hurt. It's ironic. Diesels on your show today, and I called in. But listen, that's great. That is. So so cool to hear what are you currently doing in Kilgore? I am the under sports editor at the Kilgore news. I've been here for about seventeen years, actually fantastic. And I I'll be honest. If. Homers on the phone with you..

"Did they do? They won the national camp. Now. Okay. They did. They two weeks after coach her ball is announced. They win the national championship. They beat Oregon after they pounded Alabama and the again. So we were supposed to take a five and seventeen no-confidence and be competing with a team that had just won the national championship. And then after they won national championship recruiting literally shot to the mall where they went on those run of recruiting where they was finished in one or two with Alabama depends on what code you look now, you're right, and it looked so I remember urban Meyer called out the big everybody in the big did. So y'all got step up. Exactly. So so my thing is is. But that's what we're supposed to compete with. So I mean might be like I said, I know sometimes it sounds like I'm gonna policies, and I'm not because there are some things I would like to see change. But I'm also a realist, and I look at things in a whole perspective of things. Like, I I didn't I coach. Oh, come in that he needed to do steps. The first deputy needed to do was restored a program because the program had been a laughing stock, and I've total Michael's Baptist after Dr Robinson never stepped on this campus. Best three year stretch. Michigan had were rich riding Brady Hoke with the three years. Denard Robinson was the starter. If he's not here. They probably don't make a ballgame. Maybe that eleven and three year they might go seven and five but other than that. They don't have the success. They had without Denard Robinson. That's how electrical player he was. No, you're right in that. Other than that day. If there was nothing going on in this program. So he added restored appropriate. So right now Michigan football is where we were in the nineties and the two thousand nine or ten victory. Now, it's time to see if he can get over the hump. And and that's that's what I'm saying. It takes that. Like we wanted to skip step. I never expected coach Harbaugh to coming here walking on water. You don't be one right now. I'm telling you that. Everybody knows everybody else wants the messiah to step up. Right. Well, it's only one messiah j just. That's what day he came here for back for us. Right. He he's doing. But j just say how long did it take that up? So we're going to start calling d'abord genius. They give all the time. You gay babble? Right. You're right. Yeah. I agree with that. I mean, we just only want who did it was Nick saving in the south. And we know how they do it in the deep south. Komo. Plus another thing is you want to Michigan. You know, how hard to standard is. Oh, yeah. Without a doubt. We replace yuko. We can't get. No, no. I let's take the top by Hugo kids to kind of help supplement is some spots where we're we're lacking in week. Now, they'll damn you go what was the Deepak Aubrey wanted? Yeah. Hey, the lines both Joko not. Mickey couldn't have got Cam Newton. So that's that's my only thing. Jim. I know you got some other people you gotta hit a break. But my thing is is I called it. I called my son. I just want to call them boast about that. I also got the ripped my my fiancee last night. That was a beautiful thing to do. I wanna wish my son a happy nineteenth birthday. I love you guys..

"I listen, listen, the important thing is you're not a podcast or. Well, I feel like this. We shouldn't really count our chickens yet. Gonna happen. Your podcast or now. But you can hardly be held blamed for that. Yeah. That's like making kids to prison for scared straight and saying they're quote prisoners like we live here. He's. Are you do you the dinner ends up in jail for like the random DUI lights the for not half not having paid like a speeding ticket? Right. Like, you get it in and we're all like armed robbery oblong like, yeah. No. There was a clerical errors. Yeah. And I'm like, yeah. I ten ninety nine issue. I think that was really confusing. Sorry inside. Yeah. I now with you in civil court only, I'm very confused by this. But air we are a while. So Ryan was going to be a a lawyer Pablo's parents. I'm sure are still holding out hope that he goes to medical school. Jason did your parents had for you that you felt sort of by falling into a podcast cult. How you pastors something like that? Yeah. They've gotta feel extra watching watching Daboh. Have those mom is mad that he doesn't teach Sunday school. Yes. We we don't actually fair. My parents had no expectations for made other than constantly like being amazed that I got to the next grade. Was that? Yeah. I did not join the family business, and I'm not a nuclear chemist. So I'm I'm also a failure in that respect the level of madness. Never like, and they're all. We just had. Okay. Somewhere enemy. It's Amy man. What you gotta do me like this. She says she's gonna mute if the fans Ville finale commercial comes on if this finale involves Larry Culpepper. I'm putting a fucking foot through the screen. Okay. Probably need to be brought up to speed on a story that you may or may not know about Larry Culpepper to your familiar with this Arbel life creation of the ad industry. Right. I'm gonna demand that you. Explain it to me. So Larry Culpepper this kind of creepy dude who wore coach shorts in Dr Pepper commercials. Any may also really Monday claims like I invented the college football playoff, you know, like. You left St. sprayers husk in hot dog water for six months, and then fished it out and put it in Dr Pepper uniform. Yeah. Yeah. The ad agency. All along with claim, you know, oh, man this beloved character. Right. Just college football fans can't get enough of Clare. This is the ad agency that made all of Dr peppers other ads. So I see where they went wrong. He sort of became like rapidly hated by college football fans online just for being himself and for being proposed a game show a couple years ago. That was like, let's Horton kill Larry Culpepper vote. The thing was is that with the aircrew way they made him dressing room. Just a little too close to can't be allowed within five hundred entry. Yeah. For socks and it just made him look like, yeah. It made. It was that. So I thought okay, this is really bad. And then we went to the title game one year. And the dude was there like they had a real the the actual guy. Yeah. But he was passed him. He had like his belt his waist belt with Dr Pepper in it. This was at Dallas. Right. This is the first playoff champion. How I think. That's I think this was in Arizona. Okay. Yeah. So anyway, he rolls out a real life, and they have the PR flack in front of him like going. Hey, you just wanna talk to Larry Culpepper? They're doing this at radio row. So it's like, hey, you know, famous radio guest, Larry Culpepper, and it was like turned someone played loose in the crowd. You could see people doing everything from edging away to openly pointing and laughing exam accepts all except who gave him the time of day and who had him on his radio show at the time. Go ahead. Brady Hoke, right?.

"What are you hearing? What is your gut feeling? Should he go to the NFL with eight openings Baker Packers? Darnold eye opening. I think he should go. I think you should go to the guy. I only from this standpoint. It's a lose lose situation to stay at MIT. From this damn point. If you beat Ohio State, you should what what's the big deal. Urban Meyer is not their urban Meyer beach four times. No, Michigan coach ever lost one Ohio State coach, Tom none nobody in the history of moral straight four straight. So if you if you win, right? You're not gonna get all that credit. Could you only one after Meyer and God forbid you lose to the new coach day? Then what you still genius. Have. You watched Michigan's last couple of games terrible. I'm just saying that did not did not always gonna call for you at some point. They start to look and go maybe he's not that guy. Well, he maybe can't get there. If they don't win the big ten or or they don't compete for national championship. Well, he's shown us a history trigger finger four years Stanford for years 49ers four years Michigan. I'm told that that I said this yesterday if he got a job at any of the eight openings ticket sales would go up and every one of those cities this idea. That he's wildly overrated. All I know is this if USC had an opening he'd be the leading candidate he's arguably the leading candidate for three NFL current jobs yet. But a lot of that I get it. Like, he's he's one of those guys who moves the needles, but it doesn't move the needle. But it doesn't always mean he has not won the big games. And that's what people are looking for. There's no way. You would if I would have told you that he went to Michigan and four years had passed and he had a worse record in Brady Hoke against his rivals. And he had won a big ten yet. You would tell me. I'd be crazy. That's fair. All right. Paul George and Oklahoma City come to Los Angeles tonight to take on the Lakers. Lebron's not playing Paul Georgia's now become the MVP of Oklahoma City. No question as Westbrook's aging Paul's playing the best basketball of his career. You have a theory on this. Why didn't he come to Los Angeles? I'll tell you. I think when when this whole LeBron LA Lakers and no championship follow. I want you to go back to Paul George. Paul George will be the reason that the Lakers didn't happen for them. Because had he come you. Remember, Colin he spoke about coming back to LA for two years. Yeah. It was out there. Yeah. And even when okay see traded form people said, you guys are dumb. He's going to the Lakers. Why would you give up anything for Paul George? He's not gonna stay. So when he decided that okay? He wasn't coming. Lebron comes to LA. He's from Palmdale. Not that far from here. Right. He decides. Okay. He could come back if they had him right now. They would be viable right now this year to have a shot in the Western Conference right now. Well, yeah. Because Homa city wouldn't be the same team. And it'd be a clear number two. And you would also have. The young players that you got thrills bad years that you've got through the draft. But now because he didn't come you're going to have to wind up giving up some players to get that second guy. So say you don't win win. Lebron those four years come and go you still won't have those young players who you had stockpiled from the bad years. So Paul George remember this. He will be the reason he's the king killer. He will be the reason the Lakers do not win a championship during the LeBron you by the way, LeBron said, he was the greatest what's that show called joy the shop? No, he wasn't on the shop..

"Mean, those bad bed penalty by their defense fact, it was a terrible decision, but it's going to it's going to be make or break in a lot of ways for Michigan to see how they respond to this and you gave Brady Hoke stats. But
