"Let's go and that's when it started and it's been there. They're all year. He vowed to win the home run. Derby and then of course you gave the proceeds to charity a young guy. Doing that is remarkable. All the charitable notable work he does is incredible and then when it came time to find a weekend break you rookie record. He did and let's not forget. He's the first met ever to lead the major league in home runs. He's more than a season than any national league player in the history of New York and just destroy the mets record for homers in season and then break judges record so classic people also and no surprise that there were two years in his eyes and ED. He was not the only one crying. I can promise you that number two. We knew the Joe Madden was going to be out as the cubs manager but the way that it played out Theo Epstein Joe Madden got together on Saturday night. Theo told them in fact that yes you're not going to be retained after your five year contract is up and then on Sunday the to them met with reporters in the cubs dugout. Here's Joel Madden. It's just that happens and great live from the from book recently never denied the truth of bad news and in a way bad news but also goodness at the same time. We're both going to move on cubs going flourish flourish. Hopefully I get a chance to do this somewhere else but there's no tears shed. It's a good moment for everybody and we're both excited. The butter futures now. This was the least surprising of the day and in the context of what we see when managers get fired. Maybe the most surprising thing for example yesterday when Clint Hurdle went to the ballpark he met with reporters and then after that he was told he was going to be fired. He was given the option of managing on Sunday instead. He just left. Let's face it in a half not happy about how it all played out. After Madden spoke Tim I got text from executives other teams in men that it was classy and that's still mad and he's so circumspect. He's so appreciative of what he has the fact that it played out this way. I think it's a credit to him. The'll would you think well that was really cool. You rarely rarely see that added Classic Joe. Man and let's face it buster. He's exactly right. The reason he's being replaced is not because you can't manage anymore. 'cause he. Kinda manage again. He's got about five options if he wants them. It's because they need the hear another voice. That team needs to hear another voice. The players need to hear another voice. It happens all the time why he resigned it because they weren't listening to him anymore. That's how it works in for Joe. Man and Theo Epstein to sit down and do that is so impressive Joe told only of several years ago the Oh has great empathy for people and that was a very empathetic mom between two guys and that was about as a professional professional and things you can do and good for the cubs for figuring that out the right way number one number one and look on bias there no bruce Bochy forever. It was so cool to see the giants in with a sendoff. They rolled out the red carpet for former players. They gave his family gifts. They did all kinds of things for boats Brett's Boccioni. His son threw out the first pitch and at the end of the day was pretty emotional. Give listen. It's kind of hard to talk now. Okay you know what they did today. I'm talking mountain the clubs and players in this send off. I I was blown away and you know just trying to keep it together. This was a tough day as you know as I've ever had because because you just can't believe that there's that many people that care made the effort to come out and and be part for this and and of course my family here now but everybody and I had no idea that this sendoff would be like like it was today and they were really quite about and then I'm getting all these ex players coming out each one. I'm getting emotional about so. It was a emotional roller coaster going on all day. Barry Bonds was there ten. Let's go came out there. Even Dave Roberts one of his players. The dodgers manager came out there air in a dodger uniform and barry bonds grabbed Dave Roberts dodger cap and threw it away ten. What a what a cool series of events in honor Bruce Bochy right it was great and as we know buster I didn't cover him every day like you did but I've spent a Lotta time around him and he's one of my favorite people ever and and he's a first ballot hall famer obviously two thousand win and three world series. Nobody ran the bullpen better Bruce Bochy. Nobody outfox Bruce Bochy and nobody treated us in the media better than Bruce Coach because he understood he made me laugh spouse at times over the years and he taught me so much about the game and the giants did a great job yesterday with all the tributes to him and for all all those guys to come back for Dave Roberts do that for Tim Malinska Moods and been around much lately erecting nuys the importance of this and that was fabulous all right. That was the great stuff from Sunday. Here's the not so great stuff. I mentioned Clinton hurdle being fired Tim. I was surprised that the changes were more more extensive than that. I think I did wonder the pirates. Were a team that for a decade they had a lot. They built up to success. They had great teams teams in two thousand fourteen two thousand fifteen. I wondered given what's going on. The last couple of years. If Frank Kunle would be retained their president I wondered if deal Huntington General Manager manager would be retained in the end. Bob Nodding decided to keep them but Clinton hurdles out. I would not be surprised at all of Jeff. bannister emerges as a possible candidate. What do you think well that certainly a possibility because that's where he came from and he had great success of course as the Rangers Manager I wouldn't be shocked. Joe Madden had some interest in that job of course and I said earlier he could address in about five the jobs out there at Porton. Five jobs could be interested in him but I know he's always loved that pirate situation that Ballpark and everything else I'm not saying it's gotta it'd be him but don't discount him going there. but Jeff bannister makes a Lotta sense and I too. I'm surprised that just heard a win with the way things went at the second half of the season that looked like a bigger job and and more had to be done. This is where the pirates are going yesterday. We did not get word from the mets about the fate of Mickey callaway. We didn't hear from the phillies about Gabe Kaplan. I is this plays outlook. The front offices of those teams have had opportunities opportunities to say Mickey's. Our guy or gives our guy that hasn't happened which makes be believed in the changes on the way. What do you think again. No My tation here buster. I think changes on the way in both places and nothing would surprise me now. They both came back and wouldn't be surprised but I think it gets more likely at least likely that neither one comes back the mets. Were you know one of the most games since two thousand Mickey callaway really turned it around the second half but I just think they're going to look and say the general manager can pick his own guy now in theory so that's a possibility and the phillies just haven't lived up to what they should have done. This year granted. They got decimated by injuries. Not Gabe cap words fall but I just sent change is more likely even Philadelphia than in New York but both of these are really tricky yeah and for weeks the mets have been doing extensive background checks on possible replacements for callaway so I do think we're going to hear something here in the next seventy two hours on him late last night. Tim I reported that Bradost miss the Angels Angels Manager who just finished his first year of a three year contract easy in serious jeopardy his status is being mulled over at the highest levels of the Angels Organization probably is GonNa come down to what is already. Marino wanted to do and look at Brad gets fired. It would be something that would be any absurd to me. I do wonder if already Marino though looks at Joel Madden is availability and says you know what that's the guy I want. What do you think well don't must say buster. I was surprised by your report because I can't believe they're. GonNa Fire Brad auspice after one year but I also know that already Merano Rano is impatient when Joe man becomes available of course they're gonNA look at a guy who worked all through that minor league system and did so many okay great things for the angels and great manager and let's face it that that organization has gone in a direction. I think opposite abroad office. He is it's gone so sabre metrically oriented and even though he's smart enough to handle anything. I was told he had some of the sabermetrics. Guys guys come out and take some symbolic in the dirt with the catching gear on just to show them how difficult the game is to play. That's just that maybe they're going in a direction not as comfortable with Brad Awesomeness as he should be or they should be so. I was still surprised because I don't think he deserves get fired after one year but Joe is available. Maybe all bets are off right Tim. Well thanks for doing this..
