We're two days away from the NFL season kicking off and It just can't get here fast enough cannon. No, I mean and you know, there's always like a kind of weird kind of eerie calm before the season starts, because you know you prepare all year. Free. You go through free agency and the draft and coaching changes and You know so many other things, and then you actually don't know anything until the games are played in season starts, and that's kind of like It's exciting. Obviously, for fans, it's exciting, but it's also like What's it actually going to be like? Who? How's my team going to look? You know, and like this. I get very, very excited every year. As you can imagine, Um, I'm extremely excited this year and we were hoping to be passed Covid. Societally, but certainly in the NFL. We saw Brady's comments last week. He thinks he's going to play a big factor. Then we're now seeing the Zack Martin stuff. Will he play won't he play and the NFLPA wants daily testing? What are the chances that gets pushed through? Um, I haven't heard any traction for that being pushed through, you know, basically the NFL as it is weekly testing. I think what the NFL wants to make sure that if you are vaccinated, you are in a position to Have a sort of a good situation. Good life, good experience, normal as normal as you can. And you know, obviously, if you are vaccinated, you are much much, much less likely to catch Covid 19, also much less likely to be Hospitalized to be really sick. All those things are sort of character at the end of the stick from for the NFL players to, um to get vaccinated and you know, I don't know that they're going to reinstitute daily testing. I know. Certainly last year that was necessary and important, but not fun at all. Um, you know, I think it's what some members of the NFLPA one. I haven't heard any track in the NFL for that happening. You know a desperate way, as far as the running back position is Yeah. I mean, I think it would make sense to give the look maybe work out something like that. But you know, it's the problem because you know older running backs. I mean, he was probably going to be the third running back on the Saints, and that's you know, that's That's what the Ravens need. Those guys play special teams. And I don't know if Davis Murray at this point, his career is going to play special teams, so you know it's the running back position is important support and take the ball, take a hand off and try to get yards. But there's so much more than that, because a lot of it is about special teams use and sitting on the roster. What else you do? I don't know. The veteran really does that. Okay. If you're figuring they're gonna be in a race. They're gonna be playing critical football games. San Francisco, Pittsburgh, New England. Sunday, Monday night or Sunday night or Monday. Nighter in four weeks. Yanks What happened? They were all bad San Francisco. Every single player in their team was hurt. They had opt outs that injury that the ball interest was right. They Pittsburgh Had gone from 11, No 10 and no to they can't score on offense. And then New England was just e mean they were bad all season, that first matchup that was really close. You know, I was. It's the Cam Newton fumble that seals the deal for the bills, but it's not like you walked away going New England but I didn't think I'd be that close. But I mean, you walked away going knowing it's not good, so that you would have looked at that and thought. Well, that's a really difficult closing stretch. And what happens, you blow out Sanford. You beat Pittsburgh and you annihilate New England because none of them were good and annihilate Denver to Yeah, but all I didn't look at that. "E think he wants that personnel control to who want that freedom at the line of scrimmage. You'll want these other things, too. Denver has to give up to first two seconds, say Jerry, Judy and Bradley Chub. You think I'm gonna get there? And in a year from now, Davante Adams. Ah, young, tight ends and football. You got a running game and whether you hold on the Melvin Gordon or not, Phillip Lindsay will be healthy, just talent offensively for this team. Defensively they get after you a little bit Bradley Chub and whoever they end up drafting as an edge rusher because there's plenty of them in this year's draft, and they're in prime position to take one of the really good ones. Even if on Miller's not there because they move on. For whatever reason this team is set up to be competitive. And so when I think about you know what's holding the Denver Broncos back? It's the development of Drew lock and I'm not saying that I'm not saying Drew lock is holding the back, so don't hear me correctly. I'm not saying Drew lock has no chance to be a good player, but he hasn't developed yet in the interceptions and the fumbles, two turnovers that we talked about yesterday, bt That's just not. It's not winning football for team that has went winning talent right? And so if there is a team that they shone Watson can go to and immediately make competitive in the division and then maybe even competitive deep into the postseason. It's the Denver Broncos their base. They have a defense defense of minded head coach and Vic Fangio. Donatell, who is their defense coordinator. He's the same way. So like scheme, why skill wise defensively, they're gonna be really good. A skill wise execution wise. Offensively, they can be, especially if they have a start Quarterback. So I really like this if this should happen, and it makes the F C West really, really compelling. With the can city chiefs and obviously the Chargers out there as well. I'm happy you mention the Chiefs because to answer this question, and you know you have the angle of the You know how? How far away are they compared to the Texans? By the way, Greece. We don't need to be repetitive. I'll just take it a bit of a different direction. If you ever want to do anything in this division, you're gonna have to have outstanding quarterback play because that's right. That's right. So I look at this as just a broad snapshot of who the Denver Broncos have been now they've got the ninth overall pick this year. Can you tell me, you know, maybe trade Lance? Maybe Mack Jones. What if the Pats don't move up that? Yeah. You sure there's maybe thing you could do on draft day, But I'm not even really taking that chance. I think you're really excited about him, right? But you expect some of these pics. To be too need to develop just because they didn't all of a sudden bust out like Justin Jefferson. You're one no reason to throw in the tower. The Jeffrey Ricotta Detroit, another example. You know, so I'm not. I'm not overreacting to it to dramatically. I think a lot of the teams at the top it got a ton out of the rookie classes. You look at the Washington ball team, the box Tristen Worse. And from Winfield, the Colts on Ben, Of course, the Bangles with choe Burrow. They had guys that were put in prime position and, yeah, they delivered in their rookie year. But that doesn't mean that the guys at the back can't deliver in their 2nd and 3rd year. That's why you're drafting them in the first place. You know if you're auditioning for one, Wait nine. The hater. I don't think the reason too nuanced. Take like that is gonna is gonna work. Let me ask you Look, let me ask you a legitimate question here, though, When? When do you think it is appropriate to judge Class A draft class. That's a great that's a great point. I think once you get to once you have three years in there, um I think it's appropriate to start looking at that draft class relative to the rest, But I really don't think you wanna overreact. Certainly to the first year, I think you're too you know, depending on the consistency of the team around them. You can start to look at things, but I would really want to see Three years. Hopefully, by that point, you had some sort of continuity within the team. I mean most of the team's drafting, high or bad, right, So it's tough to get a keen scent on the smaller sample your three fine, but ultimately you want to look at that fool wait for that rookie contract for five years. All right. You know, I was looking back because because, you know, we're all used to talk with you about this. I was looking back at the Broncos draft class of 2017 and yes, carry balls turned out great. There was a shaky there for a little bit, but it turned out great after him. Marcus Walker, who did play out his contract but will not be back Carlos Anderson, not in the league. Brennan Langley, not in the league, Jake, but this he's gonna be gone and it's unfortunate but injuries. Isaiah Mackenzie actually has been pretty good out there in Buffalo Butts, a miss for the Broncos because they moved on so fast. The Angela Anderson and Chad swag Kelly That is the 2017 draft class. So we're kind of right in that window. That's four years, but my goodness, I think after two we all felt pretty good about knowing with that draft class. Will you still call him swagger? Which is the draft is is a lottery. You know, in so many ways, if you think you know you don't know. Um and you have to be willing to place bets that have at best, like 53% chance of hitting, And there's the chance that you can flip a coin five times and they can land tales for you five straight times. So you can't let You can't let draft classes like that. I think. Impact your team too much on go way that you do that is you continually make smart bets, right? You trade back, acquire more picks. You look to get a quarterback to will lift your receiving corps and make sure you know whether they're good or not. But those are things that cannot mitigate a draft class like that. But generally speaking Six weeks about the time that everything starts to feel better, and you're ready to go. But you still couldn't do like an overhead press that that really starts about the six week mark when you start feeling back to being a human being and do silly little things like grab a bag or changed plates over head shaved right about Petey like you're my Johnson. When When would you be able to start some? You know, some pretty aggressive PT on it. Uhm, gentle stretching usually starts at about the 3 to 4 Week marks. You don't want to lose your motion in your shoulder. That's the weird thing to be so obsessed with your broken collarbone that Patients get better in the X ray starts with them better and extra won't show signs of healing. Really, until about two months. Mark. You can see the bone around it, but some patients realized Dang, I can't even move my shoulder now. Downstream, so he keep the gentle motion. So we have patients grab their hands, both hands and power, the other arm, the injured arm overhead, which you're good, are that honestly, That's that's what I've been doing. Really? Yeah. Your your left arm. Kind of you. Grab yourself by the elbow. You could move your right arm. Ah, lot easier. Would you like me to do that for you today? I'm good. I've got a good left arm. Let me let me switch gears from me. Let's talk about what we saw yesterday in the Broncos game. Tim Patrick, with some sort of Foot injury. I haven't seen a diagnosis on the foot injury. I know you guys have dealt with a myriad of different type injuries when it comes to the feet. What did you think when you when you saw that? Well, I'm here when you said on the radio. It's hard to tell, of course, what he's got going and hopefully just sprained or hurt some ligaments around the bones. But there's nothing like being in the last game, knowing that the season ends here in a couple hours and you're already plotting out, But the offseason regimen is going to be like and then to think that that all people have blown up. Patrick, especially since he had such a really kind of a coming out season. It seems Yep. So you just hope that is just a bit of being nicked up and that he didn't derail the whole offseason program. Have you ever seen a football season like this? That we just witnessed with the Broncos with these kinds of injuries, and I've never I've never seen it. It's crazy. I forget who tweeted this. I saw this early this morning of just going position by position who we lost this season, particularly the secondary. It was just kind of crazy. It's got to feel like the walking wounded and you know, the Broncos aren't alone. But I don't think anyone could match the numbers of guys who went to the I R. Who missed important games, particularly when it's you know. Von Miller somebody key players really. Kind of gut wrenching. How different does this Raiders team look as they have now spiraled here since the last time you guys saw them compared to where they were in Vegas and what you're going to see. When they come to empower field in mind. Yeah, I mean, I feel like there stood a record. Doesn't those paints a couple games doesn't reflect what I see on family. There's still a good tennis. They've got great running back with Jack Jacobs. They got weapons on the receivers with got a great good online and their car, So I mean, I feel like they were not lacking in talent. So we're gonna have to bring my a game 100% and go out there and play assigned this town football for this last one and ended up strong. Well. And speaking of Derek Carr. He's a guy Just get through the ball super fast. Hey, came in here to start the year. A couple years ago, 29 of 32 was get rid of the ball in 1.8 seconds. I know as much as von loved getting to Philip Rivers, he never gets to Derek Carr. You've only got half a sack against him. What challenges does he present? Just like you said. He gets the ball out so fast. He they do a good job of getting the receivers out on the perimeter. Just they find a little bit of small space just to get it in there, and we're just gonna get a good job of fucking our hands up in helping our DVDs out. They helped us out all year. We've gotta be able to help him out. Well, so then how big will it be to start this new year with a win? And end the season, although it's not a trip to the playoffs, But with a W heading into the offseason, like I said in the interview earlier after like anyone, and that feels good, positive thing and just like you said, Start the year off, but in the year at the same time on the high note is always best. You started every game. How do you evaluate the season when it's been? I think in a lot of ways the feeling personally, but nothing where you wanted to be recognized. Yeah, I think they're still We got a ways to go. Um, yeah. I mean, we had some some guy's injured. You know, we've we've been we've been having to play with other guys that still doing really? Well, um but really be interested, you know? Go if we had those guys like von and everybody else that wasn't injured, and but, you know, Yeah, it's just this season's hasn't gone the way we want to so far and and definitely not in the wind and losses and Things that we just need to prove on, I think is that accountability and everybody's just doing their job. In their job only even when we're in a sticky situations. Everybody wants to get going and try to somebody else's job on and try to do too much. I think that's kind of we've got herself into trouble last at least last three weeks is People trying to too much may cover up for somebody else. And I think we just need to stick to our guns and take you know what we do best, and I think we'll be fine. How rewarding is it for you? And I guess for Alexander and then for the two guys behind you that you guys haven't missed any games any snapped by my math. You guys will be the four players that have started all 16 games in a year that that is not an easy thing to do. Especially on your defense. Yeah, You know, I think I think it's The little bit of volumes, Torto some of the stuff people during the off season. You guys were right there with them in that fourth quarter gone away. A lot of it had to do with Drew's playing his injury. So how big will it be to get this revenge and end the season on a high note with a win over arrival? Yeah, I mean, it's it's gonna be awesome. It's a great opportunity for us. We just gotta make sure nobody checks out early. Um and everybody plays throughout the rest the rest of the game and rest of season. I mean, it's not over yet. Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James expected to miss 2020 season after knee injury, per reports
"The Los Angeles chargers. Yeah we mentioned. Like the the injuries like Nick, for instance it. Bradley. Chubb is such a mystery right now, there's more mysterious injury situations around the league than I think we know there's less reporting, but Derwin James is injury on Sunday. We know know the extent to it but I know that it's the most caught or I think it's the most costly time injury that there's been since camp started. Because I think he brings out the best in the coaching staff getting to be more creative. This is a bad defense with a lot of talent last year they weren't in the top twenty most efficient defenses. A lot of good players. Yeah. No they didn't have Derwin James, but that's pretty disappointed. He unlocks the cornerbacks you know he he unlocks his tactic partner ratio Jenkins who played really well. I just think he's such a unique special talent losing James is devastating for this defense in it's GonNa put a little more pressure on their offense in tyrod the score some points because I don't think you can count on them being top five upside defense when Derwin James is not on the phone I don't like that term more pressure on tyrod Taylor to Scorpions I know that everyone is fascinated with tyrod Taylor right now it's plain out and it's not fair to him, but it's almost. I think it's like a little bit of the hard knocks after I know. I, mean, it's just that's what happened in Cleveland what a leader what a guy and I think he is, and I think the coaching staff really loves Anthony. Lynn loves tyrod Taylor the person in wants Tim to be functional but the problem is tyrod. Taylor stops being fun about three weeks from now and then you got a rookie quarterback that when. Coaching them. He did he had some moments to be fair when he was in Buffalo In Buffalo yes. Not In Cleveland and I just think that there was I don't know come on. I, mean Austin to me is the centerpiece on that offense I believe in until the end but they're wide receiver right now back he's not but look at their wide receiver position. So what how do you WanNa talk about scaring the defense with a mobile quarterback, but they can't do anything they had said they're gonNA. They're immobilizing how how versatile they can be through the air. I think it's a rough place for Justin. Herbert. To get starts early to I, don't like that at all.

You've heard the things cliff Kingsbury has said about collar Murray, he's a big fan. But he's also said Josh Rosen is our guy. So how confident are you about the cardinals going Bosa at one do guys with a mock draft you call around and you get different opinions. You try to build some type of a consensus. Steve drafted Josh Rosen. I thought he held his own for getting no help you seems like the players in that locker ROY believe in him you move forward. Josh Rosen would have a higher grade than any quarterback in this draft. If you go basically apple apple, and you try to reject a year with a year experience where they would be. But I think they're happier with Josh Rosen than they would have been a quarterback including Tyler Perry. Tyler Murray is still five nine five ten and size body type or still some things at the combine and pro day, and he's going to have to answer to give up on Josh Rosen and go that direction. I don't see it happening based on the people have spoken to. So I went with both. Over Josh Allen. That's going to be the debate the trait outta there. Do you tape boasts Allen right now, it seems like Bosa may be the lead who knows internally with their thinking. But trading out of there for team. Let's go out and get Askins. We don't know we're hoping I think if you draft him say at thirteen or wherever in the first round, you hope that today's NFL okay with the shotgun so deep getting that shotgun snap not under center, basically in space Todd mcshane's but talking about the statute great set more passes batted down for six foot and over quarterback than six foot and under quarterbacks like Cuyler Murray. So today's NFL makes this happen. It's kind of the perfect storm for him coming out at the right time and the right situation. So there's going to be able to protect his body. He can slide. We know that we know how lightning quickie. Yes. That is in the back. Of his Eddie senses things that nobody else. Can't you mentioned the pocket of build? That's underrated part. He will sit in that pocket. He will wait he'll go through progressions. And he's tremendously accurate. His completion percentage. Was right. Where Mayfield was and he accounted for more touchdowns this season. The Baker Mayfield did during his great year two seasons ago. So I said three months ago collar Murray six foot tall five eleven. It's no discussion. He's the number one pick. But at five nine and a half, it makes it interesting. So let's go to the other quarterback that people are talking about many projected to the giants including you at sixth Wayne Haskins. You said something interesting to me earlier, you said that that Sam darnold. Did you say Sam darnold would've sorry? Josh Rosen would've graded out as the best quarterback in this draft to me Dwayne Haskins looks like a better prospect than Josh Rosen or even probably Sam darnold does not as mobile as Sam darnold. He learned a seems like he's going to be all in to be a quarterback. He loves the challenge and the pressure that comes from being a quarterback. But so criticism of him to say those guys better those guys were considered super elite and special entities for a two year period. So that's not a critique Dwayne Haskins or or taking a shot.
