"As we've seen every single year in the playoffs in the grind that comes with it, I think it's safe to assume that they're not going to just stick with foligno Lazar and no sick throughout it. It's going to be guys cycling in and out of the lineup guys are going to be banged up. So you're going to need a lot of other guys to step up as was the case in 2018, 19 when you had a coral Wagner and Nordstrom all played key roles for a four guys on a three man unit. So you could have the making of that again this year. So I think when you look at especially maybe comparing this current team to last year's, I give the top 6 a slight edge, but what puts them over the top I don't think the bottom 6 is remotely close in terms of just how much better and more well rounded this team is compared to last season. It's the same with 2019 20, I think. Your third line is like Richie Coyle, Björk. Nordstrom Crowley Wagner were kind of coming off that really good year in 1819. 1819, though you had a good bottom 6. Nordstrom and coralli and Wagner. I think that's the closest. I think Craig Smith, I think the comps would be Craig Smith, Johansson, and then hainan to Frederick. I think Frederick is a little bit better at kind of coming in on the rush and for checking my produce a bit more. Smith, I think, is a little bit more reliable than Johansson when it comes to putting up points. So maybe I give the edge to this year, but 1890 took you all the way to the cop. So that's also the other thing like that that autumn 6 worked. So let's move on to defense because I think defense is where it gets really interesting. So this year, I'll go with lindholm mcavoy, Carlo. And then forbert Clifton, because Mike Riley has played himself out of it. But Mike Riley is 7th defenseman, so he can put him at 7 D compared to last year, grills like mcavoy is the top pairing Riley Carlo. And again, Riley, I think an interesting one because Riley was pretty good going into the play last year. Looked like a sure fit. And then Lausanne and Miller as that third pairing, what would you take between this year and last year? So I think if you look at high end skill, I also maybe I'll look at through the lens if they're playing up to their capabilities because if that's the case, then I think it's this year because I think lindholm and mcavoy is a dynamite top pairing mcavoy state another huge step this year and even though he hasn't played that much, went home easy to notice the difference he brings to this team. He's a legit impact player. So I think that in itself puts them probably over the top. Look at grizzly Kahlo. If you're playing to the capabilities, that's a great second pairing. It just hasn't always manifested itself this year. Whether it's grizzly not being with mcavoy and kind of the benefits of that, obviously, or I think college is the big kind of equalizer there that that's a guy that you need to be playing at a top level, especially when you get to the playoffs and PK work and the match ups that he's going to face. And even last year in the postseason, I wouldn't say it was a Sterling playoff run for Kahlo..

"Moment. You don't need to say, oh, I'm a Bruin stamp, but it's like, no, it's just a good tribute to a good man. Just let that be. So, amazing tribute for Montreal made that game a 100% worth everybody's time because of how good that tribute was. On Sunday Night. Now, it's funny to the ice and to the bruins. Obviously two good wins this past weekend over the rangers and then the Canadians. But one thing people are kind of worried about is Brad marchand. Everyone's kind of like, huh? You know, he hasn't scored a little while here, and then he hits the post on the empty net and you have bergeron calming him down on the bench. He's breaking sticks. And I'll be totally honest with you, Connor, because we can overreact sometimes. We sometimes like to get our stuff in a bunch over some players and stuff. We overreaction time to time. I'm not too worried about Brad marchand at all. Because even, though, he has not scored since April 2nd, which is the first game of the month. And even though at times the points haven't been there this month, he's still playing well. And he's still doing the little things, and if he's slumping before the postseason, it's better do it now than come may. Yeah. No, exactly. I think he even look at that game against Montreal where some good and some bad in terms of him maybe getting a little bit too mixed up. The one thing I think that bruins fans don't want to have happen is marchand, letting that frustration boil over and get into a situation where he gets in trouble. I think you looked at that. That's the one I stay against Anderson. That's the thing you have to worry about. It's just not letting that build up. And obviously he's frustrated he saw you like, you know, smash his stick. He's very, you know, he's hot on the bench. You just hope that doesn't spill out into him doing something dumb where he gets kind of the red brain or what they call it when these guys are getting that moment and they kind of lose it. Pulls a knife on Jonathan Hubert. Yeah. That's the last thing you want to have happen and just letting that frustration boil over into something that takes him out of games going into the postseason. That's the worst case scenario. I don't think that's the real tangible fear..

"How about the Patriots? How about the Patriots? What a team. Oh, they're obviously getting all the press as they should. A cheese Mac Jones man. My goodness. That guy can also Boston sweep on Sunday Night, wasn't it? Celtics burns patriots. Yes, and the revs did not play. I always gotta mention the revs because now the revs are like legit, so I give my respect. They did not play, though I don't think. Because Matt Turner was, I think at the Patriots game. So. But yeah, it was a sweep. This is sweet. Need more of those around here. That's for sure. Yes. Anyways, the Canucks, as I mentioned, have a lot of pieces who could potentially be on the move. That's a team that could just be selling everything and everybody that they can potentially get things for at the deadline. And there's some pieces there, right? Brock besser could potentially maybe be on the move. There's some other names over there. Is it Tyler Mott? He's a bottom 6 guy. I don't think the person really need him, because they got enough bottom 6 guys to think of ship. But at the end of the day, I do think that the connects have some pieces and it got me thinking, you know, who could the bruins maybe take from the Canucks? Who could be some guys that burns might could get, right? You know, maybe a top 6 four, whatnot. Connor Garland, by the way, love Conor Garland wanted him when he was with Arizona, but now he signed a new deal with them, so I don't know if that's really going to pan out. But maybe go back to one thing, Marina, and that is. Does this team have what it takes? To trade for legitimate pieces, right? And I think too often we look at guys like, oh, just flip to breast. What is de brusque getting you right now? What is Eric hall at getting you? What is Jack said nika getting you? And I just keep going back to this point of Marina. Do they have anything that they can trade that has any value? I mean it's Slim Pickens, right? It's gotta be picks because they don't really have a lot going on in the talent pool. That's not to say like the Providence ruins are bad. It's just ruins are pretty far behind in that area. Oh breaking news. Brad Marsha and just has been suspended for three games or sleep footing Vancouver's all over at the Morrison. Three games. That's because his name is Brad marchand. That's a 100% 'cause his name is Brad Martian. His biggest investment suspended. No, okay. You're fine. And the Martian hit was more of like, he didn't go in with the sleuth. You know what I mean? It kind of came up at the end. That was my issue with it. If you're not going to suspend PK subban for what he's done, how is this anything? So maybe games. I've been curious the theory that maybe it has something to do with the canal and stuff. Depending on what Marshall said, so maybe, you know, this is kind of a way of justifying it. It's like when someone gets it's like when someone is to get fired from work, but instead they say like, oh, you took a leave apps. She's on vacation. They'll be back soon. We gained. Three games. That's ridiculous. I think that is way too much. I thought this would be a fine..

"And he entered in on the fourth line, didn't really play a ton, played only about 9 minutes at 5 on 5 time, not a ton elsewhere. He didn't see a ton of them. Wasn't noticeable. I mean, again, he was playing with Carson Coleman and Trent Frederick. I think there's a few takeaways from this. My first thought was why he didn't play with Coyle and hall. I didn't really understand that. I get no psych had a good game against the sabers on the second line, but sonic is potentially a top 6 forward of the future for you. Why would you not against the San Jose sharks in game four of the season? Why wouldn't you just try them out between coil and haul? To Cassie did not speak on that, did he? I hate more or less just focus on his overall games that he wasn't really noticeable, which I mean, it's time to get noticed when you're on the fourth line. And again, we've talked about before mapping out maybe he stops in the fourth line builds his way up. Well, it's tough to get off of that fourth line when only 20% of your face offs are on the offensive zone. They weren't just like, you know, put them together on full line. It was grind out shifts. Like against top 6 competition, like you're really not going to shine the spot like that where you've got where young player likes tonika. And it's just I think the fact that, sure, he inside on the fourth line, he can take those tough shifts. And he has value, you know, if you want to put him on the PK, what have you. There wasn't one point where he got swapped with no sick at all, which if you're going to see what this guy has, like, what better opportunity wasn't like Coyle was like, you know, dicing up the competition at two C, where it's like all right, well, our hands are tied here. We get more coil. He was literally on the wing. And again, notice they got a good game against buffalo, but you have to look in the long term, look ahead, is Thomas nose they're going to be your second line center and a year from now two years is Jackson nica potentially going to be. He could, but you're not going to know if he's going to be buried on the fourth line in a role like that too. It's not, you know, there's been plenty of teams that their fourth line functions is more of almost like a, you know, they still get 50% ozone raps like they're not like just a pure shutdown line. So Nico was, again, more or less fed to the wolves in terms of how they were matched up against San Jose. So yeah, it's a tough break for him. I mean, I don't think he was super engaged, but also it wasn't playing to any of his strengths at all. It doesn't seem like it helps anyone long-term, short term, anything like that, because the bruins don't really know what they haven't said. Nica still, even though there was a two C spot, that was available in that game..

"Bet online, where the game starts. You know, it's funny, Connor. I was at the garden on Friday night for the Celtics game. I made that great luck. And I made some bets with bet online. And I typically do this when I go to a game that I'm not covering. It's like, it's fun. You know, you do it and makes you more into the game and I'm not gonna sit here and say I did great. I'm doing. Maybe. But you've been online. I use bet online. I actually used it on my phone. Convenient. Very convenient very easy to use. It was very simple. My Friends were very impressed. They were like, damn, that was very well. They're all just to win. Oh shit. Yeah, this guy's an expert, okay? Basketball expert. But yeah, very easy to use. And overall, again, just fun times. Fun times for all the very fun on Friday night by the way, too. I haven't been to the garden as like in the regular seats. You know, with you, will you comment folk? For many for many years now. So it was fun. The cafeteria kind of spot. That's pretty cool. It is cool. And we showed up kind of late, so I got my typical chicken fingers and fries. Because you can't go wrong. Garden chicken fingers and fries hit so different. Yes. So good. Expensive down east was 15 bucks. 15 bucks for a down east. It's quite hefty. Very hefty. Speaking of hefty, the bruins offensive game on Sunday, three goals, right? Pretty much right off the bat. But then later in the game, they give up some goals. They almost lost it. There was a real chance there at the end. It was James reimer's revenge that they were going to lose that game in the third period after being up four to one. Now, I ask you, what is more encouraging or concerning are you more encouraged by the offensive fast start and their ability to well not ability to hold the.

"And welcome in to poke the bear, episode 50. I'm Evan Aronofsky back here with Conor Ryan. Yes, I'm back from vacation, Connor killed it last week, doing it all on his own, which people don't realize is not easy. That's not an easy thing to do, and I'm not that we don't have a lot to say, but talking for forty-five minutes straight is not exactly the greatest thing in the world for the voice box. So, maybe I'll do the majority of the talking today. You're rested up interests up after that. Yeah, the good thing though, Evan is at least we had to talk about like Oliver ekman-larsson and like it's very easy to get wound up as to why the Bruins couldn't get them cuz he's men legit like a garbage over the last like two years like not not like kind of bad like not Lego little Reclamation project know he costs a crap ton of money and my god he has been absolutely Dreadful so long. Riffing off of a bad for about 20 minutes. Did a pretty good job shutouts Oliver ekman-larsson for hopefully contributing into one positive way. He will on any Bruins discussions because if the Bruins get him we're not begrudge it. Just come out that the coyotes are only. They only want to retain like one point two five million of a salary is that one cameras up. Yeah. Which just the latest and just a clown, a clown show operation about there being this is a team that whether it's the fact that they can't even pay off their own bills for their own Arena, Which is far away outside of the actual City of Phoenix, back to having a horrible farm system to all of their absolute, you know, mishandling of the draft, the last couple of years, or some of the guys they picked coupled with effect. They lost their first pick for things like improper. Like draft testing, I don't know. The exact thing is what it was, losing a first-round pick because of it. So now the new thing is moving karna, Galant Homme. Is they don't want to pay a guy who is been their best foot forward for probably the last two years which seems like he's well in line to get a single. I think he's making seven seventy-five thousand last year. So would seem like he's more than do for that. I would say Evan. Yeah not not going to pay that guy, but then trying to still have leverage when you've got a busted off defenseman, you're trying to offload. So great. Rationale, from that team going to see the NHL's can you to prop up a franchise like that, that seems to slowly be dying in the desert. So, yeah, if we open at 5. So just by burying the coyotes but you know what? They deserve it that reference as a joke I guess they were after a hot start just absolutely ripping ripping apart the coyotes which as you said, very well deserved. I mean, just a joke down there. So funny that like Vegas in like four years. Completely overtook them as like the team in the desert. So happy to see that. Yes, Conor Garland as well. That stuff is great. We'll get into that home..

"Too because he's trying to throw everybody off so everybody got a good chuckle out of it because basically the rangers at bailed out of the zone and they weren't forechecking at that stage Everybody wanted to get into overtime but Boy that would have been really embarrassing. If somehow the rangers got a hold of the puck and buried into the empty net. Totally totally. you see that in baseball okay. Mistakes like that right. You see outfielders. It's not uncommon. Right where you see outfielder the catch a fly ball and then you know. There's a guide i right and they. You know the drill it right. The guys tagging they try and drill it to second base from second to third or whatever you know try and make this out and everyone starts laughing because that was the third out the fly ball out right right it happens and you know you see all the infielders given the guy. Okay the two fingers to out right. They're gonna remind them in baseball right. Is it happens a lot. So i think to single handedly going to bring in what they happen baseball that the players are all going to run back before the final faceoff virgo to all tie game given the fingers. Yeah there's a fantastic moment Kind of like that but but different. We're larry walker. There's there's only one out and larry walker's out in the outfield and the the ball is hit at the warning. Track larry walker being a hoover may catch easily. And i guess he'd been chatting with somebody in the front row gave the ball to a little kid and so he starts then he starts see. He's starts running in the end of the inning and after about six steps of jogging. He realizes what's going on. Is the guy running around the bases and just fringe back. Gets the ball back from the little kid. Sorry body and then throws the ball in. But that was pretty embarrassing. Moment for sure class luca. I saw him go to bed. Sawyer was laughing you know. Just a mind cramp right just absolutely mind stiffener absolutely but everything's going well for the bruins doesn't seem to matter what happens with that team who who arrives Who who leaves. "So what did you Brad Marchand last night here. Here he is. He's got a chance to win the hockey game or at least keep the game going taking on the flyers. It's a shootout flyers up by a goal in the shootout marshon needs to score to keep Boston in the game. And he skates up to the PUCK. Ready to rumble. Oh the excitement. And then over skates the puck worse he actually nixed the puck with his stick on the way by causing it to move about. I don't know six inches. But that's enough for him to qualify as over escaping the puck. And that's the end of the hockey game. Unbelievable way for games ending so embarrassing. I think if you overskated period I don't even gaffed touch the PUCK. No I think you can do. I think he can loop back right off the get. Go if you skip past it and you don't touch the puck you can loop around again and get it. Yeah Okay Anyway. Look look at that for some reason. I think that but you know me how wrong I can. You imagine the practice to see those practices if you've ever been to. NHL team practice right there there there. They grind old shit. What's the most embarrassing moment or blooper that you've ever seen during a game and I've I've compiled a list all of the NHL Gel but The good listener on twitter at TSN Steve as suggested some in pro sports got one here from the empty net goal all that was missed only get scored on at the other end moments later that was Dallas in Edmonton oilers. Back in two thousand seven Patrik Stefan as an empty net to put the game him away and he puts it to his backhand inexplicably. Why why you do that? But The puck jumped over his stick and not only that he falls and then starts the breakout the other way okay bye. Poking the puck forward almost like a perfect pass to the oilers they had seven or eight seconds left and they marched up ice and tied the game. Like can you believe. We've that eventually won it. Didn't they know I think Dallas won that game so at the end of the day wasn't story Steve. I'm not sure it rolling today. I saw I've seen that play. In fact that was I was I was at the arena. Steve but got locked doubt and I missed it. I went outside to have a fag. And that's a British term for a cigarette. Ladies and gentlemen and I was trying to get back in and the guy was sort of was hammered and the guy was he can't you can't get back in the eye just the door he goes. I can't and I went out and shut. Shut the door. Okay and then I could. I couldn't get back. I heard the roar but I saw that play. That one's it's not quite as embarrassing. If you look closely you can get some bad ice. And that PUCK SORTA as changing from forehand-backhand. It flipped over some ice. It got it got moved around for sure again. It was wasn't quite. You know quite the Boehner move that A hundred percent bolder move. Well nationals Craig. Smith did have one that was the total Boehner move. They're taking taking on the leafs. This is probably I duNno. Must be seven eight years ago now Craig Smith as a rookie for Nashville. And he's got the empty net and there's no no one between him and the net and he decides he's going to put it upstairs where Mama keeps well. Whatever Mama puts their the homemade jam the ovaltine and and cream of wheat and dad keeps the dirty magazines shoe way up there? What else in that upper shelf? Anyway he puts it way over the net right and over the glass as well just trying to go roof and he puts an everybody was like celebrating going over to him. It was almost like an optical illusion. You just assumed it was going in your. Your mind was trained to say. It's impossible to miss that so the Nashville players were all going over to congratulate him. And he's like fellas. I got bad news for you. I didn't score there. Yeah Yeah I didn't even didn't even hit the net yup when you when you think of that not hitting the net. I'm going we we back here. It Lee Steve was playing the World Cup of soccer on a penalty. Shot and dude misses the whole net does that's Rossi Rossi. Yup seemed to have this many years ago now but that was a big one. That was a big one. He's just blew it right over the top of the net So that was big Steve Smith or that'll be in there somewhere. People weighing in on this poll question going to going to pass the PUCK. You know He was in behind the net. You know chopping stakes a little bit and then moves out from the side of the net goes to fire it up. The right side hits the back of their goalie in playoff playoff game man. Yeah the winning goal I think. And that's why the oilers didn't have a dynasty. That was maybe five straight years ears. That took them out. Calgary would go on to lose in the fine leading that year to the Montreal Canadians but Yeah that was kind of an little bump in the road for the oiler dynasty of the the eighties and he did go on to win three cups. I think after that so and that was the first guy. Think Gretzky gave the cup to the following year right That's right eight which always come I'm trying to think In Golf although it can happen. But it was like if he would just taking his time or a regroup Scott Hoch missed a fucking eighteen. INCHER GONNA play off in the masters Greg Norman Yup those collapses sort of what I can't you know the the Steve Smith goal that that soccer thing I remember Well what else I saw I saw a guy. One time lose his mind and score on his own net thinking was the opposition. Yep Yeah that's that's like just pure fucking brain cramp you know no explanation for it. Nothing you know unless he was betting on the other one that you mentioned golf the one that popped to mind when you brought up golf. Hadn't even thinking about Gulf for this pool was Joe Joe Daley At q school in two thousand. He's got a short PUTT. He makes it John Daly or Joe. Daley Joe Okay. So in two thousand he misses a pot what is he. He's at q school and she short pot and it just goes in and comes out it goes right in the heart of the cup and comes out because of a fault in the in the cup. So what put embarrassment on Joe Daley. I'd put the embarrassment on whoever the greenkeeper was that day. But imagine you miss that. PUTT and you miss your chance at the PGA tour and he never ever. That's nineteen years ago now or twenty years ago sorry and he's never had gotten back on the PGA tour brutal okay. Let's go through some of the other. The other embarrassing moments that People have given us On our twitter poll and Let's see Bill McDonald writes since watching Paul coffey score in his own net in the playoffs. That set the bar are so high for mess ups that I zero fear of making beer league blunders and it still carries forward. What about making blunders on twitter when it comes to NHL Trivia? Yeah Paul coffey. That's funny that's Steve Smith. Not Paul Coffee That's funny we got Wondering I was gonNA cough never skirted its own no. He sure didn't sure didn't Patrick was statue of Liberty Blunders still haunts me as Colorado Avalanche Fan. That is from Brian. Burns Burns e seventy nine. Yeah that was a beauty that was Colorado in Detroit. I think even in the playoffs. I want to say where I think it. Steve is Herman takes shot on Patrick or WAN and raw makes us amazing glove save but instead of just waiting for the whistle. Go in the face off to happen. Patrick do I wanted to make sure that everybody knew he had caught. That puck so he put his arm straight up in the air and as he threw who is arm up really quickly. The puck came out and trickled into the net and all happened so quickly. The referee hadn't blown the whistle. And that was that the Red Wings score big goal to Oh i never knew that. Oh Yeah to beauty gallon here from sporting's guy. A CERTAIN CFL game comes to mind probably not one of the worst mistakes but if you have to rate the all time oops moments in sports it probably comes in around the thirteen mark and that would be thirteen men on the field by the schedule and rough Friday's in the Grey Cup Montreal with with a field goal to win the game and they miss it. Scotch one wins. No scratch Gotcha on too many men on the field move it up five yards. Montreal makes the field goal and wins the Grey Cup absolute heartbreak. That Regina will never forget. Yeah there's is a bunch of it in baseball Of course the big one. I'm waiting for here. Who boots the ball? Their first base the the biggest blunder ever bill buckner bill buckner The the fan of course leaned over and Chicago. Steve Bartman Ball does that and wrecks the game Sometimes you'll see outfielders catch a deep fly ball and thinking it's the third out and so the catch the ball and then they start to piss around and start to jog in Larry Walker district and they start to jog in the meantime the the base runners there's guy and based they realized what he's done and fucks off right catches the base in the guy's not even looking at it you know he's not even looking for.

"He targeted the head was really the only part of the body that was hit by the shoulder of McEvoy. So to me McEvoy should have gotten kicked out of the game should've gotten a five minute major. It doesn't matter because the blue jackets couldn't score at any of the power plays that they had. So it's hard to say that. That was really deterrent from the blue jackets winning the game because granted five and majors lot better than a two minute minor. But when you go four on the power play you can't score on the power play. You know, you hit the blue jackets you out face off, the blue jackets you out shot of the Bruins. I mean, and yet you still lose the game three nothing. I don't think Columbus has a kick coming plus three consecutive losses towards said they were going back to Boston for game seven they do not. He was kinda Kurt in his press conference. And certainly Brad Marchand at the end of the game, very courtesy saw the interview which sports net. It was ridiculous. Don't don't agree to the interview. Then if you're gonna say ten words in in three questions, I mean, you embarrass yourself you embarrassed the organization and the fans want to hear from you. I mean, I think you're a guy that is a bit of a dirty player. You're not my favorite player by any stretch of the imagination. But I'm sure the Bruins fans love you. So to give such Kurt answers to the questions than just don't do the interview. That's what I would suggest any player that if you're going to embarrass the interviewer by. Just answering one or two words to a question. Then why even bother doing the interview in the first place, but with all the talk of four wildcard teams going to the conference final. Now, Boston the second best team in the regular season moves on to the conference final for the first time since twenty thirteen and they will take on the Carolina Hurricanes that you'd be terrific series. As you've got the favourite versus a clear underdog. And we'll see Carolina can keep this wave going and see a Boston can't go back to the Stanley Cup. Final avalanche. Stay alive with an overtime victory in game six over the sharks. Final score there. Four to three the concerning thing for the avalanche. Certainly having to play on the road for a game seven tomorrow, but you had three separate one goal leads and could not hold onto any of them. Because you saw it where Joe skits the first goal four oh two into the second period after a scoreless first and then Vlasic who's been so good for this team defensively. Now starting supply some offense ties it comp. Who's been great in this series? Scored his third goal late in the second period. Only for burns to score with ten seconds to go in that period. The tide again comfort gets a second of the game..

"Jake says thanks for getting shell on Don since we all know the Michelle is the biggest Brad Marchand fan going. Can we get her to say something? Nice about him. He is a master Twitter. Brad Marchand z master Twitter. My goodness and the NHL PA player pool came out and said, he was the best trash talker. He can even do it through social media. He quote tweets himself trash talking chirping like other members of the Boston media, just oh, man. So I'll give him that. And you know, what as much as he's the kind of guy that literally I just would hate to play against and a story. And that's really all it is. And I I would love to have him on my team because he's a phenomenal phenomenal hockey player. I can I can't say this. That's me being nice. And I'll reserve everything else. Okay. Makes sense makes sense Chris's. Hi, Donna, Michelle considering Tampa's dominance this season. If they don't win the Stanley Cup this season be more or less disappointing than the eighty six oiler team. That was the team that lost to the flames when Smith but the goal is. Own that. And the ninety six wings team that has the record for most points in the season losing in the conference final to Colorado. Would it be at that level? Michelle, I think it would be more than that here. Same here because I think they're going to pass that ninety six to twenty teams in terms of points. So it's definitely they've got like they have nothing to play for now at the end of the season..
