Dotcom shows your transformations with a hashtag. Goal's to spent 10 minutes talking to Charles Barkley. He's in. He's down in Arizona, and by the way he is going to go tomorrow, TNT studio in Atlanta with me the first time these guys have been together in months if the best studio show in the world Charles Barkley's Ah Hall of Famer, 11 time All Star And is the rare athlete that became a Hall of Fame broadcaster is well and he is joining us. So first of all, you're a guy that's good with people. You light a room up. If you go to a bar, you buy the drinks, and you've been stuck in your house for five. Months. This has been brutal for you, right? Brutal. No, we paid off every day, waving his cigars and tequila. We don't drink during the week. We did cigars and tequila every weekend every Friday and Saturday, and we play golf the rest of the days. Eso? No, it's been nice sample these people who lost their jobs and things like that. But for me personally, a lot of golf a lot of banned all but a lot of tequila. Cigars. All right, my stand corrected. That sounds like a good life to make. So it's interesting, Charles. If I was a commissioner, I would always be worried about a non coming problem, and I'll just throw this out to you. The Clippers had for their best players missed 10 games 15 2025 if the Clippers win and Kawai Wind Paul George Patrick Beverley Landry shot miss all these games. If I'm Adam Silver, I'm like Whoa ll that basically signifies. Rest up. You get judged on the playoffs. Don't worry about the regular season. I wonder if Adam Silver worries about that, like this Clipper team has taken the regular season. It's theater. They've taken it off. Do you think he worries about that? Oh, yeah. I heard you talking about that earlier. I think low management could be a big problem in an MBA in the future for so we got a lot of issues going on. Right now. Sports will never be the same again with this pandemic. You know, we got the word about the fans does all these fans they all lost their jobs. They're never going to get that job back. So I think we we got store kind of being a lot nicer to the fans going forward. By the way, no fans for games would you struggle You were always somebody that You're a showman. Would it be harder for you to play with nobody in the arena? No question. It's gonna be hard. That's why I think that coaching in the leadership is going to be really important. You gotta have a great leader because you know it's gonna be weird. But these guys to college if you look at this, get some. These guys will be planned at two o'clock 12 o'clock during the day. So you know, these guys all played their games at 7 30 at night. And now unless they got a coach who can get him going, or our great leader has got to be some very interesting times the next couple months. You know, it's interesting. Johannes is a great player. Chris Middleton's a good player, but he's not a special player, and I've always I've been in my life. I've moved around for jobs and money. I got no problem with it. Okay. You moved around. If Johannes goes this year, and he's great, But Middleton doesn't deliver any honest is looking at everybody else playing the finals. Would you stay in Milwaukee would use knowing that it's not a free agent market, Charles. You can't get most guys. We're not going to go to Milwaukee. Would you stay there? Well, listen, I'm biased. I wont be honest to stay in Milwaukee. I think it just be great for the league that great of a small market team one We saw what was devastated when Kevin went to the Warriors, and it ruined a couple French eyes that made him irrelevance. So I just hope he stays there. Listen. They got a really good chance this year, but also listen. He's a young kid. What It always makes me laugh when God's been a league X amount, and it's like what we don't win this year. He should leave. Listen, they're going to be a contender for the next three or four years. But I don't like super teams. I think it just runs the balance of the n ba. Yeah. Let me talk about when you left you had you had a good experience in Phoenix. Not as good in Houston in Phoenix. You're a perfect fit. So take it back. You were in Philadelphia. I remember those were the years they used to call you the round mound of rebound and you were exciting and you take it one end of the floor of the other. Then you go to Houston didn't fit as well. Then the Phoenix Why did you leave with that money Opportunity titles? Why'd you go? Well, then here's something was they just do things just got rid of me. I had nothing to do with that one. But you know, it was kind of weird to be in the situation with Johannes comparing myself. As a problem State and Philadelphia three years too long to be honest with you because we didn't have good teams. They may we have the number one pick in its route, and they gave it away for nothing, which was stupid. But I was all excited to relate when Brad Dourif because that's what we would have been perfect together. They gave it away, but general who never played and so they were making bad basketball decisions. The implant is to Milwaukee. They're doing a really good job. They got the best defense in MBA located. Both been fantastic body and bless so they're really trying now, but a player's wasting his career. I think that's totally different. But the books they've got the best record in the N B. A Okay. I got two questions and I'm gonna sound really dumb but joy and I have talked about this. When I was 27 years old, you know it. Listen, I thought I was a pro athlete. I'm 27 you're telling me for eight weeks I'm gonna be in a bubble. Let's have a grown up conversation..

"Researcher it's a Richard Donner movie that's all I'm gonna say but how how rigor how're is great in it you know he's got not crazy I don't think the movie is great but I think he's great and and and and and I could look at Michelle Pfeiffer you know for ten hours straight so well and at that time I pretty much thought Matthew Broderick with the coolest person in the world but whether or not that was true it at the moment it seems to be the case so I know the your course huge fan of their office he yes I am yeah so great but so ladylike and obviously and I'm you know obviously Blade Runner certainly no he he was he was I contacted he had everything he was didn't seem that because he was in it and I think that he gave away he gave such a presence and he was such a strong and charismatic presence on the screen sometimes it was easy to overlook how genuinely good he what he thinks it means you've reached in Blade Runner and it's a great performance but it's also a great present performance where he he didn't need to be as good as he is an apple because he he inhabited and looked perfect for it and really the same with lady Hawkins lead if he doesn't need to be a great performance but he was almost always better than the things he was in required him to be because he could just get away with looking like wrecker how're and having that screen press yeah yeah that he was something man and I you know and I I I was always thrilled to see him and you know the latter and in the latter days like I loved him and confessions of a what I can to keep my my my blanking on the name of the the Chuck the Chuck Barris movie my confessions of a dangerous mind it was just when he popped up in that it was like all man it was just it was just like a treat to see him it seemed like he was you for someone to decide that he was ready for a refill resurgence of any something like hope with the shock on was the resurgence of a particular kind but it felt like he was due for a Quentin Tarantino to build them around him where you went oh my god he's actually fantastic yeah I know given an Oscar nomination and just didn't happen for whatever reason yeah but each but there's plenty of stuff to go around I mean I like the the the blind swordsman movie that he made I thought that was fun he made a great bounty hunter movie called wanted dead or alive with Gerry Sherman who's a director we've been talking about Tom for like three thirty three mornings of straight Gerry Sherman directed that movie so yeah but we used he's going to be missed amazing amazing act iconic in so many of those movies remain iconic so I'll continue to yes okay let's get back to the T. C. A. R. H. B. O. panels what we were talking about what else happened let's see we also have a panel for each PO's new adaptation of the his dark materials the Philip Holman by literary trilogy that was not particularly successfully adapted as the golden compass the big screen yeah was supposed to be up potential trilogy franchise there and very logical reasons but was not but it's extremely well cast and so today on the panel we had we had Ruth Wilson who plays the recurring character we have we had came back away by satellites we had live Manuel Marin and you know she has done other things recently yeah right he was he's Roy Scheider exactly where it went a little red and people that asked as rich under yes was there he's he's also in it and Daphne Keene who of course was in Logan so so great so far yeah I see so I'm not sure it realized that she was actually a little in the British as opposed to kiss you Spanish British but because of the language in that movie I took largely as being Spanish yeah although little in British little bit funny anyway hello we've only seen one episode of that and if nothing else it definitely feels like it gets to go and significantly more detailed than the the movie did because the movie was simply utter and complete nonsense and the leave us far appears to be be be going into enough to be not context then of some interest I suspect to you is the righteous gemstones yeah yes that is the new Danny McBride series Rick with executive producers Jody hell and David Gordon green and with a really good cast including Danny McBride and John Goodman and Adam Devine and a few other very recognizable people Walton Goggins has a prominent role and it was a pretty interesting about ten only it's it's a lot like succession only in the world of evangelists yeah and nothing wrong with that and they're actually carrying it with succession so it makes sense and it's interesting and but I I think but anyway cried is probably smarter and more sensitive as the artist then a lot of his wheels would give one the impression she walked and so it was interesting hearing him talk about that project and then also what you're black police that's a sketch show which is created by robin PD course love from the run down there this is her first new show since then and it is a does it suggests a sketch show starring three African for African American women and it's very very funny it premieres on August second and I am very happy to see her getting this spotlight for her cell because she's fantastic she's great and it was I was looking at some of your some of the tweets and that you reply to a tweet that someone it was a year ago that they canceled the run down which is just ridiculous that they did that it is six one means a genuinely battling thing to me and I don't understand what it was that he thought they were doing I don't understand how BT had a show of that potential cornerstone value and they gave it no opportunity to grow and that's that's on them and I will I will always hold that as a dark mark against BT hopefully they will find other ways to gain respect in the future so that I can probably mess Gee wouldn't it be nice if they still have to run down the throat of PT yeah I agree I agree with that and then so what did that doesn't wrap up HBO we also have an executive session with each bureaucrats and keep you close who talked about usual dead doctrine and covered around various different controversy is real and otherwise emphasized that that really they were not particularly stressed out by whether or not a few groups can vocal people didn't love the game of thrones finale it could make any difference in his life where he is yeah he noted to ME nomination so he is often whatever and she also talked around to various on settled scuttlebutt regarding Andrea Arnold's direction on big little lies and whether the show was rigidly removed from her control in its second season or if she never really had control at all because television is not a tour director's medium at center of federal there were a lot of speculative articles in the past couple weeks talking about how the show was taken from her control he wanted to emphasize it was close to business as usual and nothing was taken from her control so they're not one believes that I'm not honestly sure and and done nothing nothing I mean obviously there was nothing about berry or or any of the other shows that are on there they were just like pumping the new stuff correct largely from the new stuff certainly someone cut a mention very but it's one of those things were already renewed wildly successful lots of Emmy nominations so the only things say about it are Hey where have you very and so no one asked him to say that he was happy with their anybody also did anybody yell at him about car canceling crashing I know that that did not come up at all why you keep coming back for and so that you could remember that crashing was the thing that happened last year it didn't come up alternative other things and you know he did he talk about how gratifying it was to have gotten to finally make that that would maybe because of yeah the thing that he and every person in his job for the better part of a decade has had to answer questions about at press tour at this exact event yeah you know at this time of year every year is what's happening with the dead would move in for a lot of years it was when David milch is ready to make a little totally happen we don't know and then I really like a year and a half ago it was actually coming for real and we're all like okay sure whatever and so all he could do this on the go yeah it happens it's funny because like in in a week from Friday I will be at a convention that I go to every year that I'm a host of it's the flashback horror convention and last year Brad Dourif was there because we had a child's play reunion and some bread Dorf was there and he had the crazy facial hair and his daughter was there too because she's in like one of the Chucky bride of Chucky or son of Chucky or whatever the hell is so she's like and she's here I guess she had seen him they met each other you know like in the lobby and I was standing next to and she's like why don't you shave that you look ridiculous you said to our to our father to Brad he's like I can't and he couldn't because he was shooting that what which made which which made me happy so now you're cuter than you know that you're happy yeah alright Dan hang on okay there you go Dan Feinberg is with us he's a TV critic for The Hollywood Reporter you can now read his stuff at the on Twitter and Facebook at the fine print after I eat and much more to talk about right after the break your on seven twenty WG.
