"Better from it and obviously mistakes have been made, but I feel like if I can learn from it and become a better person or a better race car driver or just better overall, that's the thing I need to focus on right now and I really respect Dale's opinion and I know it's not very popular. The things that are going on, but if I can learn from it, that's all I can do right now. I want to be the best race car driver I can be and be the best best overall professional first and I can be on the track and off the track and after a weekend like this, it's obviously a step in the wrong direction, but I think we can rebound from it and I can take it as a learning opportunity and become better from it and help me for the future. So with that being said, we're going to move on and try and be better and I hope to see myself in 5 years is a respected competitor. All right, and now we welcome in Brad Doherty joining us here at NASCAR America motor mouse Brad obviously just heard the elongated discussion we're having. We heard from Bill junior, we heard from Noah Gregson and now we want to hear from you, your thoughts on the penalty today. Yeah, you know, I thought the penalty obviously was warranted. You know, if you think about it, Noah Gregson is 24 years old. And I love it when Jeff and Steve talk about this being a developmental series. He made a mistake. He made an egregious mistake. We'll just think about it. 24 years of age. You know how dumb, the majority of 24 year old American males are. So we gotta give him a little bit of leeway here. I love everything he said. I felt like it was heartfelt, but I do have a question, and thinking about this. Ever since I watched this on Saturday, you know, is it different coming to a checkered flag versus getting into some way to someone during the race? I understand the collateral damage, and I think that's why NASCAR reacted. So heavily because there was so much collateral damage. But we see guys get dumped all the time at Talladega and Daytona and these places coming to a checkered flag and everyone seems to be okay with that. So where is this imaginary line I hear everyone talking about? I do think this is more specific to everyone else being banged up in a race car is being destroyed and those types of things and Brandon Brown being injured temporarily. So yeah, I think that's why NASCAR reacted. But why how do we define this? I don't know where this line is. And why is it different if we're racing for a checkered flag versus coming down the straightaway there. So that's just something I'm trying to understand for myself and maybe these guys can answer that. Well, listen, I'm not NASCAR spokesperson, but my view of it is racing for position and retaliation aren't in the same category. Like that was in a racing incident. The banging and beating that happened prior to that, that was a racing incident, the end result was a retaliation. And I think there would be no penalty for everything that happened in a race in incident, but that was just a retaliatory move. So I don't view that as the same as coming to the start finish line with

"Oh that's a great one, yeah. It's funny those things that you remember so clearly. Like I remember I don't know that it was a great thing health wise to be ten years old and just walking around the nursing home lighting up everybody, but that's what I would do. I would just get up and relight everybody, which I think is probably frowned upon now. The intent and just sitting in a nursing home and then reading readers digest because you're so fucking bored. But we were watching the news on a little TV set and remember you gotta remember like my first thing was loving those sixers teams because it was doctor Jade. It was Moses and then this Charles Barkley guy comes along. So I know this is always weird and everybody hears this and can't understand why I'm from New England, but when you're impressionable you're a little kid, that's what I love most of anything. Fucking love most Malone. And I'm like, wait, the sixers got the first pick with this team and they could have Moses Brad Doherty and Charles Barkley and it's like, no, no, no. Not only are we gonna trade Moses Malone for Jeff Roland and cliff Robinson, the former Harlem globetrotter, not uncle cliffy. They traded the number one pick, the rights to Brad Dory for Roy hinson, who played a hundred games, a hundred games for the sixers. It's the most brutal combo trade in the history of the league, I think. It doesn't get nearly enough credit as one of the worst trades in American sports history. Now, I did talk to somebody who was involved in it later on and they said, you know, there were some things that we needed to do to kind of shuffle around that you guys didn't know about. I'm like, well, yeah, ten, I definitely didn't know about any of those things. It's kind of like, okay, so that was your only option. Think about that. Think about trade. How about just take Brad Doherty? He was sitting right there because he's drafted him first. Yeah, and they were like, you know, he had some back issues. You're like, what was Roy Henson's? What were his classes at that point? I forgot to mention the Pao Gasol trade, which almost goes with that same, but that trade almost felt like it was the league was fixed with that. Well, that was the other one that I always want to point to because it's funny, retroactively that one feels like it's not as bad because but what you have to remember is I've never heard of a trade, at least in all my years of talking to teams. It's not like I'm some reporter, but whatever. I've never heard more teams pissed off after a trade of my entire life of talking to people in the league. It was three weeks before the deadline. Nobody knew he was available. Nobody knew he was available. That's what people were so mad about. And everybody kind of knew, they're like, oh, this is a tough one to figure out. But they go, you know, if you're gonna do this shit, take some phone calls. Like, figure out what the market is, pretend. This is an early wrapped up to LA. That's terrible. I've never had teams more upset than that one. From a Utah standpoint with this Gobert trade, Danny did this in Boston. All the tea leaves were pointed to this. We were talking about the Utah bloat up potential on this podcast on your podcast and ringer MBA. The rice O'Neal warning shot for a first round pick. By the way, how do you give up a first round pick for Royce O'Neal? Didn't they watch the playoffs? He couldn't guard anybody. I actually think he's like the only guy that can potentially guard you. You could have guard anyone on Memphis though. I just wanted to give it up a first for him. But so now they do this trade for Gobert. Now they're all in on when penama. Add them to the list with San Antonio. OKC, Charlotte might be in there. We'll talk about Charlotte a little bit. And now they're saying, no, no, we're probably going to keep Mitchell. I just don't believe them. I don't believe them. I don't know how you do this trade and then don't trade Mitchell. I think Mitchell has to be traded this summer. You have to. So you're saying, fucking do it. What's the point? You could have a great tank season. Next year in the year after, Mitchell's not going to be happy there now. He was barely happy there anyway. Now they just traded Gobert for three bench players. They have a bunch of picks that they're probably not going to do anything with. So unless this is like a Portland situation, where it's a combination reboot, but then you're also using the assets to make the team competitive again. I don't think Danny's going to do that. You and I watched him in Boston forever. Danny is like, I want to win the title. If I can't win the title, I'm blowing it up until I get the pieces to win the title. I thought Mitchell took a huge.

"Put themselves in a great position, as you mentioned in terms of having that speed in qualifying. And we saw those years where they had a ton of speed and qualifying, but then those cars were incredibly hard to drive in the races when you got the pack, but what you see there on your screen right now, three of those Henrik motor sports cars working together that to me is what those guys are doing so well. I know it's all about manufacturers now at the super speedways where you've got to go of your Chevy teammates or your Toyota teammates or your four teammates, but when I look at those HMS cars, they are hooked up, they're finding each other. We saw it over the last couple of years. You've always seen them trying to sort of be together at some point and that's what they did so well this past weekend when you saw that at any point they were somewhat connected or trying to get in position to be connected, which AJ, I think you know a little bit about from the XV series, when your colleague teammates, because I think I've seen you guys basically orchestrate at the front of these races, three cars at once. I've never seen that before you guys. Yeah, I think unfortunately, the Xfinity field is figured that out. So they did everything they could at Talladega to make sure it was not going to happen. And the difference in Xfinity is there's so many Chevys. So of course, Chevy wants us to work together, but because there's so many cars of Chevys in general, over Ford and Toyota's, not all the Chevy teams really want to work together because that's like over half the field. So, but we tried our best. Yeah, you guys, you tried your best as a good point. Hey, speaking of former colleague drivers, I want to give a shout out to your boy Justin Haley. Well, he's still a college driver. He's still a cop. Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry. Former Collin drivers in the Xfinity center. There you go. Now on the cups here. Yeah, I should have said that whole thing. He did a fantastic job Sunday. He was on top of me. He was in a spot to maybe get up there and win this thing. I'm sure you were screaming at the TV. You gotta be careful of Justin's gonna start texting me like, did Chris rice call you? Like, am I not on the team anymore? No, Justin Haley is an amazing super speedway driver. He's great at all the racetracks, but super speedways, I'm still learning from Justin. I'm always trying to pick his brain in these Xfinity races of okay, how do I lead the pack? How do I keep everybody kind of in order? When is it the right time to make a move? He was doing a great job running inside the top 5 all day. And just kind of got shuffled out there. As the pack started moving around, that kind of got under him, got him in the middle and nobody really worked with him. And that's the trouble as, you know, per se, he's not a rookie in the Cup Series, but you know, he's still a rookie to me in the Cup Series. It's hard to get people to work with you. So once he got shuffled, nobody really went with them. He still ended up 12. He's had a lot of bad luck this year. He'd be inside the top 20 points easily, but definitely did a great job like always at the super speedway races. AJ, I had him on my fancy team. So you know he was going to make this a few ways. Well, you know that real quick. I just want to say, you know, what he's done so well at the super speed ways is you kind of acknowledge it was we've seen him have the success. He has been someone that you've seen put himself in position and then sit there and wet the race come to him and I think you've seen that happen so often that there's others in the sport that are maybe taking notice of wait a second, that might be the strategy going forward is get yourself a position and then let the race unfold for you and I think that's something he does so well and it's been so successful for him at the speedways that I think he's going to continue to have that success as long as he sticks with that strategy. Hey Parker, you know what we're doing next. We're talking to Brad daugherty. He's going to give you less one on how to say his last name. You ready? Not the singer. Yeah. No, not the singer. Not the singer Brad Doherty joined us next. Hopefully the big guy is going to give us a pep talk. The former owner for AJ omnichannel Brad Doherty will be here next. Welcome back to motormouth. Joining us now, Brad Doherty. Hey, Brad, look what we have in the studio today. Do you know this guy to my left? Yes. Never seen him before, perhaps. I have. We've got a cup banner hanging in our shop. It's the cause of that young man right there. I'll tell you what. It's like for race car driver and I'd love to have him going to Dover this weekend in a cup car. Up there right now. I did try to post up Brad one time and a one on one. It didn't go well. I did a step back. He blocked it, he blocked it with his elbow. Yeah, yeah. And he spit between my legs. He went right between the goal. Oh, lord almighty. Well, awesome to have you here, Brad, as always. So hey, boy rash, Ross Chastain. Shaping up to be all of a sudden not only a race winner, is he a championship winning contender here, you think Brad? Well, you know, I think that, you know, Ross obviously is very aggressive and he's taking advantage of these opportunities when he's been able to get, you know, get his race car out front. I mean, he's like a dog chasing a bowl. He gets after it. So, you know, the big thing is going to come through June when these bigger teams really start to get their act together. Is he a championship contender? Why couldn't he be? You know, they're going to have to get through the dog days of June, not make mistakes. You know, not have things happen on pit road, not rent race cars, but as of right now, heck yeah. But.

"Like we were excel in there. So you're always just kind of trying to take advantage of that and figure out the driving style too, right? I feel like what we've done a good job of is, you know, I think a lot of guys really preferred pretty loose handling race car and myself had adapted to driving something a little bit snugger over the last few years. And I think it's just helpful a lot with the next gen car. You can't. You can't really hang this car out and try to rip it like you could the old car. You got to be a little bit more patient with it and a little bit easier on it. The corrections are so fast and so hard to make with the steering and the tires combined. It's easy to get yourself in a bad situation and also lack a side force. So the approach is quite a bit different these faster tracks and that's going to apply to Dover as well. This weekend, but I think really it's just been a combination of things as well as car speed two with Dave coming on board and having a blank slate. He's not going off of anything from the old car. He's really approaching it as a totally new vehicle and he's able to kind of take advantage of that and not have anything to go back on history wise. So it's a combination of a lot of things, but the car does do quite a bit different. Well, whatever it is, Eric it's working, so run with it, right? Sorry I won the win at Talladega, but congrats on the continued success. You guys have been up front continuously. It's nice to see you enjoyed over this weekend, man. Thanks, guys. Thanks for having me. All right, Eric Jones joining us here. All these nice to have him. Hey, I figured we would go to the break with the real star of the show so far. So when we come back, we'll talk a little bit about Talladega, Brad Doherty coming up as well. There's mister tickles and misses North Carolina. Oh yeah, the other guy. Who's that on the right anyway? No it's paying attention to the gallon. Exactly..

"They don't have to do it. That's a good sign. Yeah. You know why? Because if I think about it, if I'm playing against Michael Jordan and I gotta go get the basketball book from him before the game used the balls he's using, you're right, Claire. I like your point. That's a good point. So I'm not willing to say they're cheated up cars, but Cuban companies, cubic money, and but I also disagree with his statement where he says they're all now driving equal cars. They're not. Please don't confuse fair and equal. The opportunity is there. Everyone has the same components. But if we think they're all equal, then that is a slap in the face of men and women that put them all together in the shops and they can go faster. They are not equal. They are far illegal. They may be. Think about it. I mean, I've got good friends throughout. I've had a good time, great conversation with my buddy, Rick Hendrick, thanks for yesterday, and I talked to Joe Gibbs. I mean, you know, you just talk about the processes on these race cars. Say, you know, computational fluid dynamics. They got ten guys, ten people working on that area of their business. I got one. You know, I got one. So these aren't equal. They're not equal race cars. The opportunity presents itself as being equal because of the lack of data right now. But as soon as these guys get enough data and enough information, they'll be a seismic shift in their sport back to what it is. Don't get me wrong. That's what I'm saying. We got to get them while we can get them. Because by the end of June, this will be a different story. But you know what I like Brad? It's a little old school, which is this. If you pay attention and you before, Hendrick can open their hood and show Brad Doherty, and he couldn't even build the components that they're showing him. It didn't matter, right? Now, good old school paying attention. You look across, you'd like, well, wearing his pen points. Yeah, where are their cars? 'cause you're all starting at the same time. Brother. We gonna figure it out. We gonna catch him. I'm old school. Hey, Brad, I'm willing to bet your call with Rick Hendrick that you mentioned, probably included, hey, let's not blow up any more motors, Rick, really. But we had a good we had a nice chord to a conversation about the Rick saxophone. And I just asked you for ten more horsepower. That's all I want. That's it. I think Brad, hey, best of luck Saturday night to your heels. Thank you, man. My heels as well. We'll see what happens. Great to see you, man. Great to see you. Always good to catch him up. Our man Brad Doherty always fun hanging out with him and I got to wonder if things are going to change as we get into short track season.

"You on the Josh wise program? What you got going on? I told you, I don't want them young whippersnappers taking my job. I've stepped up my game and all areas, you know, it's just like anything. You just constantly pushing yourself and evolving and every year it's a little bit different on what you have to work on and what you need to concentrate when you need to focus on and with this new car. I think that it's definitely more physically demanding because you can drive it so hard. And with so many row courses and short tracks and things like that and this car is a little bit warm as well. You got to make sure that you're getting every area that you can and not leaving anything on the table. Good stuff, Michael. Always fun hanging out with you, bud. Congratulations on career start number 400 this weekend. Enjoy it at Richmond, okay? All right, thank you guys. Appreciate you having me on. All right, always fun. Hanging out with Michael going down. I thought it was a great point there, Steve. I mean, this new car, you can physically drive it harder. It is hotter, so his trimming down a little bit probably well timed. Yeah, I mean, forever, we used to talk about the transition from open wheels drivers to stock car drivers and it was always about the cars big. It kind of lumbers around. It's very overpowered under tired. And this kind of shifts the stock car closer to those other forms of racing. We're not there yet, but the tire's wider, it's bigger, the car itself, I think, has more grip with independent rear suspension. I think they can do a better job of hooking it up to the asphalt. The brakes allow them to drive it in. So everyone I've talked to said it is way more physical, which I think is going to be fascinating because when he talks warm, we haven't really had more. I was gonna say, like, we're gonna get the dirt race at Bristol. I can't wait till the Bristol night race. Yeah. Or that midsummer rate, like gateway, don't sleep on gateway. It can be trust me. Hot. In the summer, you know, right? So the question, that's what I want to see. I want to see you as we get in. We've also heard about cars overheating, not just drivers. I want to see all the other challenges of this car. I think they only get more concerning as we get into the hot summer months. It's going to be fun to watch. You hear in that same feedback that it's getting well, warm inside. But you know what I have heard and he talked about how hard they are to drive. But how aggressive you can be. I've heard almost every driver say that this car rewards aggression. It rewards you the harder you drive it, the more aggressive you are. And if we look at the guys like Tyler Reddick, like chase Ross Chastain, the guys that have been running are aggressive race car drivers. They are aggressive race car drivers. Austin cindric, these guys are aggressive guys. So you ask him about getting in shape and doing all this, you know, you got to jump, you got to take the bit by put the bit in your mouth and run with it. It's going to be interesting. Martinsville. Martinsville is going to be a place where aggression shows up. It shows up every week. And find out how to go over that one. That aggressive line is real. We have seen more cars wrecked this year just by loss of control. And then we've seen in the last ten or 15 years in my opinion. Great point. We've always had me hit you. You spin out. But we've had great race car drivers. Spend out on their own. I'm good with that. Like this sport should be about, you know, who has the best car and who has the most ability to get that card to finish. And I think it's being put on display. Coming up next, the big guy, Brad, Dougherty will join us, you know, the final four coming up this weekend too. I think he's pulling for the heels and he's also gonna pull for his driver Ricky Stenhouse junior this weekend at Richmond. Brad already coming up next here on motor mouse. Now Chastain right on the back bumper of AJ alman digger. Alex Bowman stays way outside of the two. Alba digger gets into Alex Bowman. Ross Chastain back out to the front from the final corner of the final time. He's got the lead coming out of turn 20. Now he's flat on the gas. Ross Chastain is going to get his first NASCAR Cup Series win. His 121st start. Yes. Oh yeah. Oh my God. We did it. These guys all wanted it. There's always contact the end of these races. I honestly, today is just not that much different than what we see a lot of times on green white checkers and these are these racetracks. I didn't draw it up that way in my head, but yeah. I did what I did. I stand by it. I take that white flag and it's like, who wants it the most? Who wants it the most? No, the money's on the line and the playoff spots on the table. You didn't have to deal with it. It is worth it for the playoff spot Justin marks there and Ross Chastain as well after the race on Sunday. I think our next guest will agree, Brad Doherty and owner in the Cup Series. He joins us here on motor mouse, our very own Brad daugherty. So Brad, if Stenhouse is.

"Four wins, so he's gonna be really strong, and then the champ is there for a reason. Austin syndrich and Team Penske, we know how good they are overall. Especially at Phoenix over the last couple of races there. So, you know, if I had to cap it, I would put forth favorites going there if you looked at it and just over the last kind of month of the season and how we been at Phoenix, but I kind of like those underdog roles, but no matter what, when you're there in the final four out of all the three series, you know, trucks cup or Xfinity, you're there for a reason. You're there because you're some of the best in the series. So it's whoever hits it, whoever executes the best. And at the end of the day, if it's a late race caution, who's ever the most aggressive and comes out the other side? Well, best of luck this weekend my man. By the way, Brad Doherty is joining us next. He just texted me, said he's way better than you on the golf course. What does I mean? I thought you were better than him. He have a story mixed up? Well, I mean, like, look at the advantage. Like he swings, being at like 8 foot four like he is barely touched the ball and it goes 350 yards. So, like, I'm just a little guy out there just trying to make it happen, man. Oh, come on with your three handicap. I don't want to hear it from you, so hey man. That's the Phoenix. I played those games with you guys. That's why I'm trying to lower the standard. So I get more strokes on the golf course when we bet. I appreciate that, my friend. Hey, safe travels to Phoenix, best of luck this weekend. We'll see you out there Friday. Thank you guys. All right, AJ amanaga joining us here and I thought some honest comments there, junior from him, saying, hey, we're the fourth best team out there. Yeah, I mean, I think being an analyst has helped him understand there's the way you can be as honest as fans can rewrite through anything else. But I think he's absolutely humble too because I don't think he's number four. I think he's right there. I think cendrick goes in there with the favorite tag. And a few of those guys, I think he's right behind Cedric actually in second place as far as the favorite scope. But we'll see how it works out. Cool. Back with Brad daugherty here in a moment. I hate junior. It's been a decent season for Kyle Larson, I would say, wouldn't you with a couple of wins? You know? Yeah. Yeah. 9 wins. Look at that. Got the guitar in Nashville. That was pretty cool win, wasn't it? By the way, they had resident Nashville. Resin this weekend. Yes..

"This I'm like but I don't play this position He's like well you're gonna have to start playing Go Go Go Roadie call it out Until recently the bear cats had largely gone unnoticed by most of the world That was until a group of opposing coaches refused to play in Branson anymore because of their field The coaches were worried that their players would get hurt playing on what's been described as the worst football field in America Gavin Sanchez remembers what it was like It was all dirt There was no No really marking occasions It was a bunch of go for holes snake holes it's easy injuries Go for holes and snake holes Yeah it was It was a fun one Would any actual go first pop up while you guys are playing Actually yes we actually had a go for come to the field and we had to smoke them out and get him taken care of Okay coach Adam lucero It couldn't have been that bad right It really did too That's not an exaggeration It was a cow pasture it's what it was We turned it into football field the best we could but there was a lot of times I was pulling cactus out of my players arms in You see Branson doesn't get a whole lot of rain usually and the water it does get from nearby springs doesn't provide nearly enough water to maintain a garden much less a football field So the team needed a new field Problem is they don't have a few $100,000 laying around to pay for it So the school's athletic director Brad Doherty who is Brody's father reached out to some local TV stations to try to drum up support for a campaign to raise money for a new field And the news spread faster than a Gopher being smoked out of a hole Pretty soon national news outlets were doing stories on the team situation And as the attention grew so did donations So every day I would log.

"Jeff Burton joining you here today, Brad Doherty, our buddy will be joining us via Zoom. Very shortly, of course, we want to hear from you guys as well at 8 four four NASCAR NBC. Brandon Jones will join us on the show a little bit later today. Xfinity series driver still in the Xfinity series playoffs. Time to put the roval and the round of 12 behind us and move on to the round of 8. And we have a lot to talk about today. So I want to move on in this fashion Jeff to say that no, no matter what driver I talk to Sunday, after all that chaos at the rob. They all said, this is the most important round. This is the round that matters the most. Why do drivers feel like that? Well, I think now it's championship win in time, right? You kinda get yourself through those early rounds and now it gets down to 8 cars, 8 drivers, the best of the best, it's gonna get more difficult, you know, the more drivers you eliminate, the cream rises to the top and it just gets more and more difficult. So not that round we just went through, you know, I said it I said it in the pre race show. It's sinister. But that round, you know, when you got the roval and Talladega in the same round, but then you eliminate some people, but now you've got to go be the best 8. You gotta beat 7, right? And it just gets way more difficult and everybody knows that it's now it's not so much what can happen to me as can I beat these guys. It's a different mindset. So Brad, let's bring you in. How you doing this afternoon? First of all, bud, and we talk about these different rounds. Good to see you there. So the round of 16 del junior called kind of the driver around. We talked about the round of 12 as Jeff just called sinister one of the most difficult rounds or if not the most difficult round the playoffs. In your opinion, do you have to win here in the round of 8 if you want to go battle for a championship in Phoenix? I really think you do. And just to piggyback on what Jeff was saying, you know, these 8 guys, there's been consistency there's been winning, there's been lack of mistakes on the racetrack as well as on pit road. If you look throughout these 18, so if you just take that sample size throughout the entire year for all of these guys competing trying to win this championship, you have to win. You're gonna have to wear and you have to have good days, you're gonna have to be mistake free because if you're not someone else is going to be in this group. So yes, I think winning is Paramount. So Jeff, for the drivers in the round of 8, they all said Texas is the most important race. Why is that? Why is all of a sudden this race, the most important race in the playoffs? It's the next one. You know, it pays the same amount of points as Kansas pays the same amount of points as Martinsville, but it's the first one, it's own everybody's mind. I do think though it sets the stage a little bit for another mile and a half right behind it. Like if you go to Texas and run poorly and then you're going to another mile half right behind it. It kind of was like, oh, wait a minute. So I do think there's some of that. Because you could be if you don't run well, you could be exposed, your mom had a problem and can you recover in a week. Be really hard to do. And there's merit too, Brad, right? This is the first ticket to the championship four. It's on the line Sunday. So you go when you're in and you've got two extra weeks to prepare for that race versus everybody else. Yeah, which is huge, and again, what Jeff said is spot on, you know, we're gonna go for a mile and a half tomorrow and a half and if you, if you go here, if you go to Texas and you run poorly, it really sets you up for the gauntlet as we go into the next couple of weeks. So you want to go here. You want to show your power. You want to show your program. What's your capable of doing? Run up front, have a chance to win this race. And if you do, absolutely. You set yourself up for a chance to hold a trophy here in a few weeks. That's got the phones here from you guys, 8 four four NASCAR NBC NASCAR is first up. As always, NASCAR, how you doing this afternoon by what's on your mind? Good. And Marty, you kind of hit on it. I was going to say what advantage or how big advantage does the winner of this Texas race have for the simple fact that they can get a car prepped. They can smooth it out. Dick kinks out for that Phoenix race and prep for that. And I think that's a big advantage. What say you? I would love to hear that from Jeff. I mean, every year, the team that wins this first race in the round of 8. That's what they all point to. Now we just worry about Phoenix. We're not worried about those next few races. Well, I think it's a huge advantage. I mean, for sure, because now, you know, the truth is that you're going to put all of your eggs in the Phoenix basket. And you're going to make sacrifices in the next two races because you can. And you're already working on Phoenix. And I think that is a potential advantage. At the same token, I think it's hard for teams. I don't care what sport you're in to just turn it on and turn it off. I don't think a competitive team can go away at Texas and then just say, we're just going to take the next two weeks off and then turn it back up for Martinsville. I think you lower that intensity in some ways if the team doesn't stay motivated if the team doesn't stay in that intense mode. How do they respond when they get to Phoenix? How can they respond from a pick crew standpoint from a driver standpoint? I think you still got to bring that same intensity. Although it's really hard to do. Well, your wallet, when your back's against the wall, man, you fight differently than when it's not. And so that team in that driver, they do wins this race. They have to make sure they don't lose the intensity. And we have in the past seen drivers that have gone to win Martinsville to make it in the championship for gone to win that final race. Have a little more momentum when it comes to the championship four no doubt about it. But I don't know about you, Brad, but I would take that win in Texas and give myself two extra weeks to get ready. I would take that advantage a little bit. 100% and just think about you win that race in Texas. Yeah, you can't turn it off and on, but what it does is it creates even more pressure on those other 7. So now there's a little bit of scramble from those guys where you're going out. You're trying to take care of your game plan if you've won and race hard, but you don't have to race as hard. You don't have to take chances, you're not scratching and hard trying to get that win if one of the competitors in that final 7 is running great that day. You're not biting your fingernails. So it does. It creates a little bit of relief and you start prepping for Phoenix and you're way ahead of everyone else. Justin is on the line he wants to talk chase Elliott Kevin Harvick, Brad, I'd love to get your reaction to this. So Justin, what's on your mind this afternoon? Hey, guys, I just wanted to call in and give my opinion on the situation. And there's a lot of people that's been saying that Kevin Hart should be suspended for intentionally Rick and Elliot, but I feel like chase Elliott had to come and he deserved to get spun out. And that's just unfortunate that he didn't get enough damage where he had to take the car to the garage, he was able to continue on after what he did to Harvard at Bristol. And just how do you get eliminated?.

"Some drivers are safe, no drivers are comfortable. Any of these drivers have an issue. They're going to lose enough points to eliminate themselves from the playoff and you come to a difficult racetrack like the role. Somebody drivers have said this might be one of the hardest tracks they ever go to. Not a difficult, the most difficult. Of course, mentality just save a few all day. Got one fundraiser today at the rebels. Let's talk about go get it done. I have a good day. I was either going to count ready ready, not really good. We're underway at the role. Martin junior dropping back to the field. We see him struggling losing position. Hey, a copy of the plan. I think we're terrible race car we saw him. He was awful, so I have no idea what we did for past races here where we typically been pretty decent. But it was just absolute garbage. Big penalty dope first playoff guy to make a mistake the 20 of Christopher Bell that we were too fast. Yes, we got to do a pass through here. Ultimately, we just weren't good enough. Made a lot of mistakes out there and but we just weren't fast enough. Oh, it's spinning by Brad Keselowski. Contact from the rear bumper. The 48 huge Brad. He's ready for points. He needs these points. All right, so a little update from what I'm saying. I do not think we have an alternator. It was recovering. There's no longer recovering. I'm 13 now. Who's going to give right here? Chase takes the position away. What a move by Chase Elliott. Chase Elliott Wednesday. A big development issue for Kyle Larson. They are losing bolts on the 5 car as well. What do you do? Good for a battery. It is shocking. The Kyle Larson can be in this position. Kyle Larson, the most wins by any driver this season is below the cut line right now. He is ten points down. Battery situation for Alex Bowman, not getting any better. I'll point the stuff stop working. Hopefully, we have enough time. They're pretty early. We knew we had a multi issue, and it acted like it through the bell. Don't know what we had going on, but unfortunately, it's tough to make a car live long here without any break fans entire cooling. The four car Kevin Harvick struggling to try to keep this car underneath him he's gonna have to give up the spot to chase. Oh wait. Get a little more aggressive than that. Kyle Busch he's going to end up winning stage two after putting an alternator belt on. They hope that they have that fix. We are, we are we're good. William Byron, his team, you got to give him credit. They have to win and they're in the best position they could have asked for right now. If he were to win the point battle or be crazy. The 9 is around a lot of damage to chase Elliott. Yeah, the 9 is destroyed. It is. Oh, the contact between him. Look at the front bumper of the four car of Kevin Harvick. Was that the payback from Bristol? Sometimes real life teaches you good lessons. That puts the man man safe. They have to address and evaluate the damage to this car and be able to see how they can improve fan speed, maybe rebound and get those points back. Well, you wonder what chase will do if he gets around him on the racetrack now. If we get a chance we can wreck a lock as this, I don't feel wearing it's going to happen. The two cars spun out, Brad Keselowski goes around. Keselowski drops. He's now in the red three points behind. Harvick in Elliott in. William's gonna miss the chicane. What the Whitney? They hit him in the back. This lack of awareness like hit me in the back bumper right as those down shift in the first gear and so there's no way I was gonna make the chicane. So I don't get it. Don't worry right now by this point. And I'm telling you the battle continues for braddy goes behind that banner, but he gets the stuck behind the one now the 42s attacking him. Currently 6 points out of the playoffs. Harvick also into the mix and not too far behind the four is the 9 of chase Elliott. Oh, the four's gonna miss the corner. Got a little heart. Or jump. And now he's below the cut line and out of the possibility of advancing in the playoffs. You there it is. So we just got to finish here basically, correct. To basically. Look here, Larson crossover move really aggressive into the entry of that turn. He's going to take this lead away run to 11 wide. Big damage to the front end of that 22 car. And you're right junior big damage for the 22. That's important because now that's going to move two X to the bottom of the green car. That means a Byron takes the lead. And can win the race that would eliminate Truex instead of Kozlowski. Byron into the grass. I was just too bad at the end there and made a mistake and could have finished third but finished 11. So yeah, this stinks. Kyle Larson. He will win at the Charlotte robo. Kevin Harvick Christopher Bell William Byron and Alex Bowman those all eliminated. Thank you. Good job onto the next trip. Of course, get down there again. Our team has a lot of fight and I'm just super proud of that. As far as Kevin goes, just want to wish them a Mary off season and a happy Christmas. Mike dropped sound bite from Chase Elliott still being played around the NASCAR world. Hi everyone. Welcome to NASCAR America, motor mouse, Marty cider. Jeff Burton joining you here today, Brad Doherty, our buddy will be joining us via Zoom. Very shortly, of course, we want to hear from you guys as well at 8 four four NASCAR NBC. Brandon Jones.

"Face on obviously guys to see I'm not very happy about it, but it's out of my hands on you and I'll be there. If I'm selected. I'll be there physically but not mentally. And I wonder who how many guys will be there physically, I mean, you can't you? That's the most powerful voice in the game, possibly in sports. I mean, that is LeBron James. Every word that comes out of his mouth carries tremendous weight. And respect And so, uh, If that's his opinion, what the hell are they doing it for? Well, you know me. I think it's a terrible mistake when a college football player doesn't play in their ball game like if it is it'll be their last college game ever. The players I've talked to, including Couple guys will be playing in the Super Bowl Sunday, has said, looking back. They wish they had stayed and play one more game because you think The NFL is gonna be like college was and it's not. And you missed the dude. You missed that opportunity to give a plague came up, but I criticized no player. And no team this year for saying You know what we're done when the regular season's over with and that's how I'm going to feel about the NBA All Star game, he says. He will He'll be there physically, but not mentally. And I'm curious to see how many guys aren't there physically. You there physically, not mentally enough Getting hurt sometimes. Yeah, so it just looked with two to LeBron's point. Those guys were so diligent in ensuring that the bubble was successful. They had barely an off season. And I mean the embassy hard on those bodies. We've seen Brad Doherty walking around and how he can hardly walk and all that. So just like I mean, I agree. Let him arrest me. Just give give. Give me some time. All that's the benefit money.
