"The track conditions and everything has that affected things in new orleans for you. Not you know not not a whole lot. We've just missed one day. A training And you know credit to the fairgrounds and on for keeping everybody you know. They're not just doing this. Honest like we missed a training tuesday morning at the fairgrounds which we raise and it was good. You know it would give him an opportunity to get to track ready for racing that afternoon. Mardi day and you know both tracks has been upfront and been able to You know like obviously oakland canceling so far out of that. Spend a minute looking back. We'll stick with the three year olds for a minute mandolin last weekend. Impressive in the grade three risen star looked every bit the part of a major derby. Contender share your thoughts on that performance. I thought he ran huge. I mean he he. He got the same trip that he will it. Calm the only thing different really was the blinkers and maybe a little more. Obviously another sixty mile but he. He's a nice coat. We bought a lot of and from you know from last summer last fall. I started showing that he could be a really good horses. You know i. It's really rewarding when you see it in them and then they're able to show up and do it in the african and you know he's a he's a cult that you know is obviously got enough points. It looks appears to be in the derby. And you know. I'm not gonna say on cruise control now but you know we we can pick out one spot between now and the for saturday may hopefully make a good account of himself. And you know he'll be ready and on top of his game hopefully derby day. Yeah that's a big advantage knowing that you're likely in the field now you can. You can pick and choose your spot that you want to go next. What do you think louisiana derby or do you try to get something a little closer to the kentucky derby. Well i think as of right now. Look at the louisiana derby that would. It's obviously probably comes up i. It's back in five weeks so it probably makes the most sense but like you said there. Is you know we could also look at the bluegrass as well. So you know. We'll just kinda see how he trains over the next couple of weeks and make a decision here at a roof from john mont and and and He said he's a nice cold. And and you know i. I don't think it would be a bad thing. Him having a good. Bit of time between louisiana derby and the kentucky derby. So we're just kind of see out place over the next few. How about in the philly side of things tell me about the three year old fillies and what you might be looking at their As far as the three phillies go. You know we've got some good ones between travel column was second in the rachel a good race Off a freshening. She'll she'll come back. And other the the new orleans I'm sorry the fairgrounds oaks four. Ashok we have a son passes good philly that was fourth a disappointing fourth in the In the silver bullet day Out of the race in great shape has had a couple of work percents. And we're gonna point her for a possibly the honeybee or the fairgrounds oaks and we also have coach it up on. She's being for the the honeybee as well so i think we've got a group of phillix taxiway reigning champion trainer. Brad cox here on the horse racing radio network. I know you got a lot of work to do brad. But i'll ask you about two more horses. Monta moi girl and knicks go of course going in the saudi cup later today Tell me about those two horses now and what you're expecting from them. I just i mean really. What nick's go i mean. He's just he's trained so well i mean he's just been so consistent off aw throughout the winter and his get enough confidence to try this Saudi cup obviously You know we're we're so one turmoil in eighth. i don't think it's gonna bother him at all. I mean we got one of the best jackson on joel and he obviously has experienced horse having broken his last three. He has confidence in the horse. So i think we're in a very very good spot I couldn't ask the horse to be doing better. You had a great work over there On monday bound set of and good order. So he's on track to Run a big effort. I do believe Monterey girl kind of more of the same with her as far as just being very very consistent actually you know throughout her racing career and then just Excited to get her started back. Know this is. This is our prep for the apple blossom And you know once again with the loss of time really doesn't affect. I feel like it is affecting our schedule much with her at all so excited to get. It started back next week and her race on sunday next weekend. Brad a lot of things to keep track of a lot of irons in the fire. But that's a good thing when you're training racehorses in your training at this level my friend keep up the great work all the best with the with the entire stable and again can't thank you enough for a few minutes here this morning. Thanks my talk just saying thank you very much..

"Pearl where we can see her again. See her in the spring it cumana churchill. She's currently fresh and he broke her And prepared her for us As as a yearling slash two year old and we picked her up last spring You know super talented filling a lot of speed. That's able to basically run horses off their feet She's exciting philly. And we're hoping you know once again. We cannot have a big year with her You know we talked about ascott with her with the the The camp and that they seem to all the on board with that but you know we would obviously get a race or two before we were To make that jump so you know It's It's gonna be fun. She's she's very very talented silly. That we just have huge upside and it'd be it would be You know he will be neat to try an international with it. Would it would really You know be be Cool thing to try to talk about some of the other three year olds we should keep an eye on as we Make our toward the first saturday in may well As far as colts go mandolins. Very nice colt. it's worth pointing for the lacob that actually this morning here that they had a fantastic work. I think ahead a minute. Four-fifths for the five eighths and. He's doing extremely well. So i just think he he could be really good colt We pray He just broke his maiden going short You know we'll probably try and short one more time. But you know he. He's a a lot of speed and into mischief coach. As well as an exchange-rate mayor owned bradford shut montas really You know stepped up and Showed that he's super talented. First time al and and now we have a cat or wherever he's pointing for the i'm he's pointing four the smarty jones at oaklawn. He had a big work this morning. And it seems to be on go. He was second behind too nice colts twice on the nyra circuit and then was able to break his maintenance in mice fashion at churchill and one turn mile. So thank you know. He's he's a he's a nice cult. It's going to have a big future as well. How about on the phillies side brad. yeah never really good phillies as well Travel com goldenrod default needed churchill. She was third in the bodies For for larry best stocks. Oh stay with at that. Billy At the fairgrounds and trying to roll. Well frost philly Coach was able to win the racks. Richardson was third in the golden rod. As well. she's a good commissioner philly. That's actually at oaklawn. Prepping for preparing for the martha washington Son path john. My home bred by money sticks Really good philly. We're gonna look at is the silver bullet day or the the Martha washington hers wealth. But she she's a good filly and and we got we got a solid group Divine comedy was affiliate just recently broken for good often. "Brad cox is indeed with us now and The man who is Well was in the spotlight. Both friday and saturday and he'll continue to do so moving forward. I'm sure brad. Welcome to the program. My friend thanks for taking a few minutes. Good morning mike. Thanks for having me on. Yeah no no problem. I know you've got a busy schedule. So i won't keep you long. But we've got four big wins to talk about and it started with aunt pearl on friday taking the juvenile fillies turf. What a well first of all brad. Four breeders cup wins equal. Richard mandela's mark that he sat in two thousand three. Just put that in perspective for me when you hear that and you think about it what goes through your mind you know i mean you know it was. It was amazing we can just Very very Proud of proud of our staff and our horses and you know very very happy for owners that get solid animals. The work with. That's what it comes down to this stock and you know we're blessed to have some very good stock and They came in all the horses. Not just the four the one but the before they did when they were all trained. Shrimp well felt very confident. They would all run their races. And you know we. We were fortunate to fortunate enough to get there with four of them and You know it was. It was a weekend. we'll never forget. Those are in recent last a lifetime for sure. Will i know that. She's just getting started with her career. But at pearl at this point anyway has the look of an absolute monster. How good is she. She's good she's really good And she she's kind of film of the mornings you know leading up to her debut that she was good started to take her to saratoga. We have the september meeting here. Churchill with you know elected to star. I believe that was opening day here. churchill in september and we elected to keep her home and run runner out of our own stall and it worked out well and then we turn our attention toward the jesmyn. And you know she. She showed up and put in three big efforts to start a career. And you know we really think. She's she's affiliates can compete on the international level as well so you know hopefully a little freshening and hopefully You know show show you know. Be around next year and maybe for a couple of years. The ownership group loves racing. And she's a. She's a special philly. You return later that day. With an undefeated colt by the name of essential quality. The son of tap it who goes on and takes the breeders cup juvenile. He's now a perfect three three. What do you see from him. That makes you think okay. Let's start dreaming of some roses. Well he he's he's obviously had you know a a very well off often and home-bred a so He stamina i guess is the biggest thing that gives you the confidence moving forward and he would be able to get a mile and a quarter And you know he he. He does have enough speed to put himself in a race like he did in the obviously the breeders fraternity and it was able to break his maiden going three quarters. First time out so you know very talented cult. That you know just really seems to have An unbelievable amount of stamina shown that really since day one for the first time we breathed them. I mean he he Came in great shape now. Brennan broke him and send him to us. And you know came in with high marks. And he he He just continued on throughout the spring and fall. And you know he he's He gives you a lot of confidence training because it just really can't get to the bottom of him and he just really Is a talented horse. That appears to you. Know be amount of quarterhorse. Yeah you know. So much of the buzz coming into saturday to after you wrapped up. Friday was surrounding. Monoploy girl an attempt to win a second breeders cup distaff and that she had to overcome to get back to this point. That was one of the great story lines. But before you got there you sent out knicks. Go to win the breeders cup dirt mile and he's undefeated since you took over his training and i'm thinking okay now brad cox is just showing off well You know he's a coulter he he's you know we. We had him last winter. And and you know. I i knew a little bit about the horse. I think we ran behind him. Maybe like the ellis park derby and remembering the breeders for thirty and running a big race in the breeder stuff here in eighteen church against the game winner. So i mean listen. It isn't like this horse. Just all of a sudden he was a great one horse. He was a grade one horse when we got him We picked him up from Blackwood farm in in And lexington or amid way Robbie medina was training there at blackwood and he came into this in great shape Very forward training horse love to train And when look down and see that. He was eligible for the two other than i thought. Wow what what more could you ask for. I mean that's horse. If if he's if he's if there's any meat on the bone. I mean he's gonna totally be tough in the spot and he was. We were very excited about that race. And his next worker to following that he came with the lameness We had to give him some time off. There was Surgery involved we thought about retiring. the timing worked out to where we were able to bring him back and we thought you know if he if he if he's as good as he was on with him and he was and then for him to be able to knock out the three other than we thought about going in the act a church or just didn't think it was quite the right. Move off the layoff with a large field. There was three other than opening weekend. There keelan thought it made the most sense and to tell you that I thought he would be for the dirt mile not the case This was something we were. The three other thing was maybe prep. For like the the clark handicap the cigar mile or something along those lines but the way performed at church keke linda in him getting being able to get into the dirt mile. You know it. All kind of came together very quick and you know he. He rewarded the ownership group in a big way. Brad i'm literally about forty five seconds away from my final commercial break here on the show but i i. I had goosebumps watching monoploy girl do her thing in the breeders cup distaff. Yeah it was an amazing race and you know the way she was training. You know led us to believe that she was going too. Far one of our biggest suffers. Ever and i think i think she did. I think it was their best race to date. Given you know she gave up some ground maybe a a race track that played a little inside bias in very proud of her she was. She rented a huge race. Brad appreciate the quick visit and they've got things to get to. I'll let you go but thanks for taking a few minutes here today. And congratulations continued success. Thanks for having me on. Mike and we'll talk to thank you..

"Raises with Steve. Becoming interviews this guy. boy. It's the day you dread. It's one of the one of the darkest days on the calendar. and. I I'm sure you have the same feeling. We're not exactly the same. I'm sure you know. Maybe you don't i. Yes, Saratoga del Mar.. Finished for the year but that's not why. That's not why it's such a difficult. It contributes. It's a difficult day that one of the toughest of the year because it's the first day of school and. That means that means I gotta get Tina Up. at six and six fifteen, you cannot possibly imagine the misery. That's involved I. It's. Honest to God I it's like having. Like having a teenager. Moaning and the. Fifteen more minutes. I mean come on. Having not raised having not raise the child of my own I. Guess I I guess I can live with. With this experience. I'm telling you. A. Then she screaming where's my coffee? But then by the time by the time, we got her out the door. She was she was moving. He was moving. You know who's moving smoothly. It's you know it's like an older gelding. That the ascend out there and the first time around you know kind of working out the kinks and stretch it out and. Shaking, the chicken, the shoulders, and then then nice and smooth the second. It'll take a couple of days. Serious to nineteen, except to award sports on night sixty four if you're listening to series Xm online and at our website as well well I indeed. Yesterday. Brings to a close. As Really As intense afford days. As I think we've ever really experienced, right Because there's never been anything like it. When you when you grafted? Oaks and Derby. Onto Labor Day weekend I I this was this was really. I mean you. You better have eaten your wheaties They have gotten through this and. By the time. The time those races were rolling around at the late races. Del Mar I had had enough I mean I was really. Little. Little frustrated by. The Saratoga Empire six the which was far from impossible but plenty. Plenty difficult. And twenty thousand dollars if you got through it. So. That you know that a deserving return we'll get to that I mean there's so much the yet to to get to. The. One of the more amazing stories. Yes. Just yesterday I. Mean I haven't even we haven't even waded through. That we got the little bit of the Guess we got a little bit of the Sunday stuff done yesterday with. with Mike Stadiums visit and and also with Baffert. He just listened to me I could have gone another half hour with Baffert but. Princess Noor, and Pixel late on. Sunday but. Really, the story of yesterday. As part of you know the traditional. Season Enders. At del Mar Saratoga, the to grade ones for the boys. I the hopeful. And then. In late later in the evening few turney. and. We'll talk about. Jackie's warrior was spectacular. I mean that that was jaw-dropping honestly the to just blow away. The of the other two major players and do it with such ease. That's what was stunning. And then. Dr Shovel which is a a kind of a bittersweet story and I probably we probably won't get to Louis Mendez. Today. But it was the last start for. Dr Shovel. In Mendez's barn. And Hammer. Has told you about Mendez and his ability to prepare young horses and and his really his. Hallmark is bread and butter. and. The the the horse is going to go to. Mark Latte. Now and the the by in what what you know the private. ACQUISITION FOR A. Controlling interest to Red Baron's barn and Rancho to Moscow. For Mendez. His first grade at stake would have any kind. He'd one other stakes in first grade stake win. And it's a great one. I made the no to that. You know he's he's only he's only been out training his name for three years but. First Horse that. Has Broken the hundred thousand dollar mark for him in earnings and. There's a lot of there's a lot of horsemen out there. We talk about this. There's a lot of operations that they're doing this. They're getting young horses together whether it's for clients or some that. Horses for whatever reason didn't necessarily sell through, and so you get them started and they draw the interest the and. That very good way to. Make a living and and. Then score actually so I I know some people were like, oh, it's too bad it. Yes and no I. mean it it yeah it's a little too bad but Mendez I'm sure just thrilled and we'll look forward to connecting with him. Not Maybe late today, but I would guess it's always tough the day after Saratoga and and del Mar rap Bob and then of course in Kentucky. There's the had there's the added wrinkle of the sale tomorrow and Thursday at phasing, and then of course, everybody getting ready for Keeneland next week. So there's all kinds of added mayhem and we'll talk to Brad. Cox. So we missed yesterday Brad's going to join us in exactly eight minutes right at nine fifteen We'll get fifteen minutes in with Brad Cox before he goes back to the sales grounds and continues to shop, and of course, you heard Baffert talk about it as well as they scout out. This crop of Eurlings. On that topic. Back to yesterday's headlining story. And it's. You know it's our. Our Sponsor Kentucky farm that. Hill and Dale. Is the story. Jackie's warrior by Maclean's music. Dr Chevelle by violence that's a remarkable double. As two. Stallions. Under twenty, five, thousand, each. Violence has had a spectacular year obviously. But for Maclean's music the very nice. Really a very nice. Score at at. A perfect the time leading into the sale and especially because. And then from a personal note. We've got. We've got the Mcclain's music that we're partnered up. With Dave Scanlon and Marty Shapiro that that Maclean's music we talked about it some odium and doing great at Belmont and preparing for a debut. So we've got a Mcclain's music's were excited and excited. From, that performance ninety fire by the way I. If you hadn't seen the number of this is a two year old posting a ninety five buyer it doing it. You know not that geared down means anything This is for the robinsons Kurkin Judy. Rogerson and. Wow I mean, just a UH. Literally A. Popping performance and in a lot of ways Dr. Shovels Win and. The horse BAFFERT's that Spielberg we ran good read. Good. But you could tell if you just heard if you just listen to Baffert just now you could tell he knew that he wasn't winning he he was very respectful and and and you can tell if the you know basically. Was Acquiescing to Dr Shovel, but Spielberg re nicely to be second but Dr Shovel clearly best and a.

I think thirty back in the winter and we have to get aggressive to get into the winter circle. But she's a spot weld less therefore start and Prosser freeze the recent claim A big race last time we are able to pick him up out of out of that race and let me still eligible for the allowance. Conditions started allows condition thousand. Which made it made him appealing And I thought you know just off numbers or the field looking stacked up all this stacks up well with that group so you know. I think with a good trip. I don't know you know we'll get together with the the owners and You know come up with a Game Plan I. I don't think you know like you said I mean for figures gotta get a little quicker in order to compete at the great one level. But I'm pretty confident that you know she. She's doing well. She'll she'll get back there for sure well just great to have her back and that as much as anything raises the spirits and You know we've had a really a nice set of Nice parade of performances ready Just from from the weekend when you folded Bella Fina on Sunday and Monday on Saturday. That bodes well for the whole. Staff Division. Let's touch base on a few other things and and some of the other Stable stars and how. They've been passing time if they're waiting for assignments or You know how you're going to frame things up going forward to talk about wells by you out of the Louisiana Derby and then the Arkansas Derby try where your hand was was very forced risk strategically. "Right now. Obviously with everything that's going on. It's Kinda hard to to get a lot of people to pass gun. You know we will. You know my myself rose and Joey I know we all want to say thank you guys for everybody sweeping out. You know it's it's been overwhelming but it's really made all of us You know extremely grateful that we had you know John in our lives and that everybody got to experience. You know John. Because John was man he was a priest. Best Man Cameron Bathing. Thank you will see out all go so more more tribute from Cameron. Who had the the obvious pleasure and fun of having a rally gist continues? Going FORWARD IS A four year. Old was see watch for her to for her. I think last night we saw was the apple blossom. Let's stay right here because Brad Cox standing by and speaking of speaking of The distaff division. It got a boost and a welcome. A welcome return of monoploy girl on Saturday Brad. Congratulations Good Morning. Thanks first of all everything. Good Staff and everybody got back to got back to Louisville successfully and safely trivial good job of filed in box outfielder fairly quick. And it's been good so hopefully you know we got back to racing this weekend and hopefully Starting have back to normal. I guess well and nothing you know nothing like having you know condition book on your desk and you know looking ahead at the overnight and entering races and just you know having your mind occupied on on the day-to-day and luckily for everybody there was there was some continuity. At least for the you know the outfits like you know the position you were in from fairgrounds to John and basically been able to swing from vine divine to keep things going. Yeah for sure you know did a good job him up stable keeping things going forth and now on the Churchill and it sounds like we're going to New York shortly so I said it's been a slow process last few months but since we kinda right direction anyway before we talk about monoploy and also The upcoming opportunities and and some of the other stable stars and where you're thinking what? What is your status with New York? And where were those horses and you know how many how many were sheltering the at Belmont? And how many more did you send in? What's going on up there? We we kept about anywhere between I would say twenty and twenty five dying. The you know I'd say the shutdown period and I think right now we're up to like thirty At Belmont right now thirty maybe thirty. I think actually thirty two so Horses are starting to come back in young horses starting to file in and You know I it's it's somewhat normal. I've not had a chance to go up. I wanted to go late March but obviously decided against that. And you know. Go to start racing but Hopefully we have a condition book in the next few days and I think steak schedules being released in the next day or two so You know excited about getting getting things going up there and you know see what happens and then. Hopefully Saratoga gets rolling in July and we talked yesterday with both Joe Appelbaum with Pat McKenna and doing what they can to figure out getting Oklahoma Open as well and that would probably you know add to the influx of horseflesh How would you would you? Would you send it? Encampment up to the of enough overflow to set up to the Oklahoma probably.

"Was a couple of scratches in that race and and when they came in I just kept thinking this. This is a good thing And you can only be a good thing that this horse be able to break and establish leading. Shut off going up the backside and Anyway Sean did a good job. There's behind did a good job of getting hinder to relax Pick a breather up the backside and he ran. He's he always tries this horse. We claim this horses Saratoga A couple summers ago and and he's been with us while you he's just a really neat horse You know he's run a good bit but but he he's a very sound. Horsing shows up and runs hard and He's he's he's kind of a cool core. Seven the barn for sure Brad Cox. "We're back we're GONNA take as I said Cut the break. Short and dad gives us about a little under fifteen minutes to talk to Brad Cox and as I said at the top of the show Just one of those situations on Monday. That the any horsemen anybody related to the game Players included just Dreads and Tarez injured and then the decision made that she could not be saved and then everybody has to move forward and get to the afternoon's racing and and hopefully The results in the afternoon lifted. Everybody's spirits that included wells by you running very good second in the southwest and warriors charge with a powerhouse effort As well in the razorback Brad for everybody in the game to Garrett O'Rourke and Judd Organization And you and your staff Just so sorry about. Monday's misfortune. Yeah now is a tough day and You know a lot of you know tax and phone calls and you know People in the horse racing community that You know You know reached out mental. I really really did and You know for For just a short career three races I mean she's definitely established a huge fan base and I felt like I was a big Fan for sure and She's she's never be replaced. She was very special. And you know you just taught me. There's no speculation. I suppose that Is is worthwhile but I very big horse and I don't know as they say the the slow ones don't seem to get hurt As often anyway and I. There's no point in really speculating as to what might have gone wrong but there's anything that the You just you have to as you and I in fact exchange and on Monday you just you had racist to run and horses to take care of you know seconds after this occurred Thing I imagine. Warriors charge in particular his performance and the huge the huge Group from ten strike being there at the lift. Everybody's spirits for sure. I mean you know when obviously after stay focused and You know continue on and And we have a great crew in place you know. Said it was a tough day for everyone but We're able to get through the day and and You know want to get through the race card and it was. It was a good day at the races. Let's put it that way and talk about warriors charge and the the alert. There were a couple of alerts last week for at least for people. Listening to this show. Was Marcus Hirsch. Observing her at observing him at Fairgrounds and saying just how terrific. It looked like he was coming into the race and then we had marshal Graham during the Z. At Marshall was very excited although he couldn't be there There was a lot of indications that that this was going to be the start of what could be a very good Andy CAPP season for warriors charge. Yeah for sure. And that's the goal and you know when he came back last year from college last fall from college surgery he obviously never know how they're gonNA come back and obviously something like that you know we don't deal with that a lot And he he came back and I mean just showed. The brilliance showed in the spring last year maybe even more developed and gotten faster so You would need to facing horses that were moving forward older horses for the first time and he.

"Mike Good Morning Morning Steve That as always happens. It seems when it's a surprise Kind of You know everybody was focused. A little bit on Oaklawn and maybe lost track of what was going on at Gulfstream on Monday. Yeah I mean you have to be a perfect storm. Usually those things to and you know they still handle a lot of money in the pool. It's it's hard to imagine what that many comedy doubt that you could get one single winning ticket and I it took US seventy one shot For it to be accomplished all the winning ticket I expected to see and all in that race on that winning ticket and there wasn't it there was a person who purchase that Used the seventy two one in four to five and you know as the race went the forty five shot. The favorite probably should've won but Didn't get the best two trips. And then Lo and behold the perfect storm APP and big time and we're talking about Scarpinato who went wire-to-wire under hector. Berrios pays one hundred fifty. Three Twenty amador Sanchez. Sent this one out and you know what? Could you say the longest shot on the board? And that's what it takes to have that ores. It's pretty funny though to have that horse. A of a bunch of longshots fifty to one twenty three to one fifty five to one forty four to one and it's obviously somebody who thought I guess the SCARPA could go wire-to-wire so you got protect and that's exactly how it turned out? I don't know the reasoning there. I mean we actually had a pretty good work on. That horse. Three eighths blowout. I gave it a B and always looked okay but I still didn't imagine you'd win. You know myself so unbelievable and I. I don't know if the person who had it You know the clock report. Now I'm GONNA guess probably. The reasoning was For them to take that tickets. They'll take that horse has just you know as as a backup to the favorite. It's Grazer maybe they like the horse and took the favorite is back to him. I I really don't know the reasoning but it was Was a well thought out but Unique ticket you know. It had two singles The first and the last but it had to offer the eight hundred fields. And you know if they hadn't been eight horse field that they've been eleven with the person of gone all with eleven. Probably not you know. But the fact that there were two eight allow them to get away a little cheaper with the with the al-Zmia doors fields but give them even there. Do you know they single the win over the last race makers who wants to one in the morning line while up at seven to two but they were all in on that you got the job done for him so We traced it to tickets been traced to express back customer fifty one dollars. Everybody's thinking it was one of the big syndicates and conglomerate spend thousands and thousands but at this point it doesn't seem to be the case and it one one lesson in this is that beaten favorites will will invariably make it possible. You had a beaten favourite at sixty five in the first leg. You had the three to five in the second leg. Go Down Then you had the seventy the another seventy cents another three to five. Go down in the with the seventy five to one shot. Then you did have three two two winner in the ninth. But the third choice home base from Michael. Tomlinson wins the tenth race. And then you had a three to two favourite get beat in that nightcap. So the the more favorites that get beat the more opportunity The more windows essentially open toward you know these these circumstances. That's why it's hard to imagine somebody better fifty one dollars ticket and evidence I. It wasn't a fifty dollar ticket amongst fifteen other fifty. One dollars tickets Well without any favors you would think it would have to be someone with a bankroll that was going to do. All in a couple of races with a big prices came in. And that just wasn't the case you know so Again storm perfect storm amazing. Well it it as part of the aftermath We're going to talk about the pick five in a minute. And because of that seventy five to one shot nobody had The pick five because the rest of the horses were you know very habitable so as you know because if I read the four right there were five. Horses live in the last race for the two hundred. Two thousand dollar pay off and the weather was singled on the rainbow. Six ticket was not one of them. So that's amazing. Yeah and and the funny thing is I mean there. There isn't any there isn't any experience player. That isn't familiar with that winner. Aqua phobia was a long time Jackson Lale trainee of of Della Gore's and Some obscure horse that that somebody. Would you know the looking at that at that eleventh race? And we should mention this was. This was a series of starter stakes in a sort of like sorta like claiming crown tight back. Shen so it brought together some interesting fields right. I mean there's always a possibility in those kind of races for something like this to happen because the wide open nature you catch the same horses back against each other again and you know sometimes the horses at one time before it. Just don't run and those you're beating favorites But you know I. I'm Mike Maker is probably good. Good handicapping theory is any. And maybe that's why this person used that horse as opposed close as opposed to any other guy can think but the fact that it wasn't covered in the pick five is kind of amazing. We'll we'll talk about this in a minute. Let me get a couple of pieces.

"Extremely well run a big race. Last time horse likes to draw the inside. I know that presents keen on him. Not we we thought we were doing the right thing. And putting them into the mile race there churchill but it was just a little bit too much to quit for him Getting handed. It was muddy that day. We sent him out of there. And just you know got tired and wasn't quite ready for that that level of competition or When the one turn my I don't think really just thing was eager eager to getting around tea time for you able to do that. Running back a little quick but he did have a very nice leave last week so feel confident that he'll run off so like his figure stack up and he should be active Answering he's very nice gelding Like this since last summer he Really slow I starting basically run off with jock. Five eighths of a mile still stayed on to nearly be defeated. That honestly I think it was a blessing in the skies losing He Just mentally took a little while to get there really coming around Have you ever wrote him? Last time liked him. Obviously when deriding backing for this for a few months so really liked the scouting. I think he's a nice horse and hopefully with good trip through outside. I think with a good stock and trippy. "All still in training. That that's pretty cool. Yeah that that's I mean that's it for us we've got we've got a real horse appeared the fairgrounds that I'm I'm very proud of I mean there's some you know I think three or four hundred one winners there and and Horses that have made a million dollars. You know. I think to be in that role you have to be a greatest stake winner or or Or one that would definitely think in the near future so we got a Mike collection horses very proud of them and you have to think the owners give us an opportunity with these these horses and think help for you know showing up every day and Working Harden Arden up in the position wearing well. We've got to ask The I can't say I was going to save some things but I guess I guess I just can't even do that. I was going to save a few comments and discussions for you. "Three Breeders Cup wins in two years not too shabby three for twelve overall. Couple this year with British idiom on future stars Friday eh in the juvenile fillies Kafi in the filly and mare sprint. He's got the favourite for the river. City defending champion Mr Mr Misunderstood later on a Churchill today is my man Brad Cox Brab back for some time this morning here on the East Wind Forum. Good morning thanks for having me on. What's happening everything? Good how the phillies come back from the Breeders Cup. Those are the two outstanding efforts from British idiom in Kafi. Yeah no they broke out of shape bomb WE'RE GONNA keep but British ship even the barn and get her ready Give her a little in the barn Probably start back with hurts. Middle of December and co-pay referal galaxies McAfee one per month or so actually. Brokering you gotta rest. They're last year when she choose T.. Turning three so she familiar with our so. We now get hands and get her ready for Tony. Tony campaigns as well following the freshness. Do you probably doesn't affect you that much. But her name does get a little extra attention around the barn. You get an an extra phone call here and there about her name maybe in the form of probably a little more social media definitely dominate social media. And it's it's it's a good thing I mean you know when you're when you've got people talking Talking about horse racing in a positive way I think it's it's only thing so yeah definitely gets a lot of play with her name. Yeah it doesn't matter to me she. She's a special filling. She's a very gifted in. He's shown it shows up at the afternoons and give you what she's got she's She's as honest as they come. It's amazing because when when sometimes in folks and amy's horses after pop culture but you know something that's in the in The mainstream in the La- they don't come to fruition. This phillies the goods. Yeah no I think lots of times. Nowadays People Tinder Reserve names. And then You know we'll give them a name You know kind of wait and see if they can run and then give them a name on you awesome. They've had reserved Now the thing you don't want to reserve this name I want to give it to a good one and find out you know. Maybe wait till they brings out the gate gate officially give them a name. But now the whole deal with Herman she was name only receive. Your saw was it worked out. Well obviously but Yeah you're right. Sometimes they don't then panel so obviously rooms to Kathy's three Kafi goes to the farm British idiom stays with. You is what goes into that process in your mind that you you WanNa keep one with you and the other one goes away. I mean I know owners get involved in stuff but ultimately You you know your badge says trainer. How do you come about that? That decision is obviously. You can't brought this. How do you decide that one phillies mistake? The philly out. It has a lot to do. You know what what's your goals are with You know the the year head With obviously British we need to get her started at the quicker From the standpoint the goals the Kentucky Oaks and she's going to need to start racing in February two to start building that foundation for the oaks and she you know she came out of the race in great shape. Both of them did but She hasn't had as long as a year. Sure I mean just to Philly. We've picked up in the spring and you know she's obviously been in training since the spring. Let's say May but it hadn't been and his rigorous as it has been for as far as training all year long as it was perfect which we picked her backup. I'll say mid January so she's been pretty much you know pounding for ten months and this this two year old we feel like we need to kind of keep her a little bit closer. Maybe not lose quite as much fitness with her. And I haven't only right straight race I mean I think what did. She raised six seven times this year. So and some very very tough racist so I mean you know. Her body works killed. You know over over years much more as opposed to British idiom having just the three races and and And we just kind of keep her a little closer. They're closer to us with having wanting to start her back. In February as opposed to cope every problem started with frank. Follow trainer Brad Cox about his two Breeders Cup heroines British idiom and Kathy. I sell coffees on the farm for a bit. You'll see the big Philly Sometime sometime late winter early spring bridge heading a little bit talking about getting their starting to February for the Oaks You've got started period in her career in A restricted maiden especially race up in Saratoga the first time they ran these racists than the association forces that were Last sold at auction forty five thousand dollars or less. Were you guys. Just taking advantage in the pot was seventy five as opposed to ninety for the open maiden were you guys just taking advantage of that clause or did she kind of fool you a little bit and you think maybe the open made in specials going to be a little. It's tough what's tugging. You never know how I mean you bank on coming up tough But we definitely could. I mean we took advantage that we knew you know we liked her selling her handed Alice Week. We brought her to Churchill Brewster. I remember her last breeze for her. Her race was on the scene nine ten days as before and it was a churchyard breeze we we had the race on. I remember actually Mike Outset. Can you give me an idea when you're gonNA run. The auction. Writes Back Doc. In whichever book it may have been It was it was not released. A he said you know He's got a court for this day. This raises like all right. Let's points in this thing and and anything circling in trying to get her there and shipped up to Saratoga. I WanNa say you three or four days before the race. She she She responded well. We thought we thought she was. You know I remember talking to Saul about. or He's like what do you think extremely tough and then worked and I remember that day. How is the church? And it was not a senator togas like therefore people come in this said well you know we like ours sound like it was a solid race and I think the Philly was second ended up breaking her maiden special weight at Belmont and Just an open maiden not nothing restricted. So I think it was a solid race obviously obviously produced a a grade one winner not something to be said for those races and I think it was a good idea but we did take advantage of the purchase price it made sense and You know it was that race. What probably started at Ellis but you know like a two year olds come out of L. S. anyway but It worked out well with that. That's being purchased just for forty thousand big win and the Dalai also by these Off The stretch out which is really tough to do. She was really good in the in. Every described juvenile fish even will make up some ground on a day where it didn't really look like that was going to be an easy task. Talk about how. Well she ran that predisposes and the fact that she was able to you know Jim. Gesture thirds like exist only made three starts. But she's like she looks like she's been doing it for years. Yeah I I thought you know. The numbers didn't come back right on the reason. You know I mean I like like number two. I think people like numbers on their hearts runs facets people don't like numbers when they run slowest overall. Exactly I thought you know. There's no doubt about it. I mean yeah. I don't care if people wanNA hear it or not it's the truth but the bottom line is She ran a really good race in the British cut. Because she I think each overcome in some traffic and I turned bounced around a little bit of. And then I to this day. And even have jared make a comment that that wasn't her track as struggle struggle with it and and for her to overcome that just kinda shows you that she. She's a champion and she deserves the because it wasn't surface I mean for whatever reason did struggle but with that day and when we turn up the backs the I admit I thought we're in trouble. I thought we prepare a horse that was physically ready fitness wise and the way she looked physically fitness. She was as good as she gets Felt and for her to overcome that. And then you know stay okay. On and respond to have air with was an amazing Was An amazing race and said I'm not worthy of a championship performance. So she she's she's a nice ice philly and You know as long as she moves for a bitch she's GonNa be a tough through affiliates on the Kentucky Oaks Your Your Guy That's always on the move. Oh you and I joke around when we're in Saratoga. You're always on the golf cart you're always on. You're always you're always somewhere like you. It's like you snap your fingers and you pop up from one place to another. It's almost like you're like a whack a mole your everywhere Do you ever take time to sit down and say to yourself Elf. Three breeders cups in two years. Just twelve starters. I mean you're a young guy I mean that that's a heck of a star to your career. Yeah I mean yeah I mean. It is an accomplishment. And I'm I'm very proud of what we've accomplished but I mean I just feel like you know you're always missing it's tough. It's tough to get here and stuff to continue to do what I guess. What the goal is and I you know I? I don't really know what the goal is to continue to get better stock when more British Cup races. So I mean you know Lord you gotTa keep moving forward to But you gotTa keep you just got to keep moving forward and and You know looking for the the the Next Cup horse. And hopefully you know I'd to hurt lex Next year British idiom and we got we got my scrapie young horses coming up so you just got to keep moving forward to this business to be getting a you got to be a competitive gaming and all these guys at the top are extremely competitive and you gotta get up every day and stay with it. It's it's it's a tough business to grind you. You said her name She's one of the more popular names and everybody loves her mom. What girl doing what's Anytime flaming timetable we offer yes. He's doing really well. If we just shifted from Kentucky Down to the Paul Sharp She's just down there and joined some warmer weather. I think horses like cool weather but it it. It's it's pretty cold here in Kentucky right now and She's going to start back doing doing some light training In December. And you know we hope to have at some point January as far pong table race nothing nothing nothing right now but up so you know. She's we aren't going to give her an opportunity to make it back to the races so the last time. I think. We're GONNA take her. Tom In no time payments will let her tell us take it slow with her and hopefully we can get her back in spring to the racist spring right. Talking with trainer. Brad Cox Misunderstood stood today over in the river city He's been a little bit of a puzzle Brad because he started his career. I mean he was on fire when he started his career and and then did paddock goodyear last year towards When he came back this year hasn't won since this river city last year? He'll been a little bit of a puzzle hustle to you after winning all those races and and now being winless this year. Yeah a little bit. just yeah. He had a setback last one Sickness of bloodwork off and we we had him close to running and we had the setback with him so he missed a good bit of time. in return He rent like an even fourth and on allowance race off the layoff. You know he's racist not been bad. They're just not we're accustomed for him and they like a wind machine there for like here and a half and I spotted well and he always showed up and you know his last two Grayson. We're actually a pretty good race Well I'm sorry I'm sorry. The Kentucky down was is not and he does not like Kentucky down his his turf preview..

Three Wins in 4 Years Is a Record

"James Good Morning. Good Morning Steve. Thanks for having me on hope your weekend. Well it did. It did and I thought I saved I wrote I write down as many selections. It's always tough for Breeders Cup because then the paper gets all gets a little a little sloppy and sure enough here. I'm looking now and yeah I do have it. Actually there we go there we go home. You were a Vino guy and and bricks and mortar and and then spun to run so yeah your share of winners Too Key around I thought was on higher power. Though I didn't have you know I got you written down for Dino. I took higher power stirred Flavian Pratt. What's up on them? I'll tell you play the Heidi wrote one favorite Donna Duluth below she. The brewers Juke juvenile given up Phillies runner-up but he had a win. had four seconds and fourth earners. I thought that was a really a great performance by him and You know he has the Kentucky Derby win on his resume junkies like have that really just A good showcase for an upcoming star in our rank agreed and and I tweeted on Sunday. I've discussed this a couple of times this week. His record is stunning. And he's got people would say. Oh He's only got three wins. WHOA WHOA three wins? Thirty eight mounts and this is only his fourth year as fourth year riding his sixteen seventeen eighteen nineteen at-bats. Ah But another fourteen in the money finishes and then a handful of fourths and fifths I mean the percentage is frightening. I mean considering considering the level of competition really outstanding and he gives he gives every virtually every horse. If he's got horse to work with he gives them a chance. It's definitely and you know I mean I think Santa Anita and hosted the Breeders Cup eight times previously and and and he was writing a lot of california-based debased horses and one of my takeaways was definitely that this this year's Breeders Cup with completely unlike any out in California before I mean just uh-huh it just. It really started on Friday where the first four winners had all raised it Aqueduct Belmont and by the end of it I'm you know I'm looking at it it it. If you'd looked at the charts that Saturday at at Saratoga you wouldn't be surprised to see our ad or ts in four races Castellano and Rosario win into each and then Jose or ts Manny Frank Ricardo Santana All winner races well and Joe Bravo and that's what happened. They took twelve to fourteen races and and all twelve of those horses that race in New York this year now very strong on that on that front and ah not to say that Just had the conversation with Nick. Lock about the euro's and there were there were solid efforts and solid board hits in addition to Iridescence win but The you know the and there were solid performances from west coast sources to bell. Athena's Bella Fina. At under under certain circumstances dances might have won. The united almost looked like a winner hundred yards from the wire There were there were plenty of of solid performances from every region In some cases. Look at Vino. Vino having been into California. I think counselor a lot. You fold in folding would ask. Did you know getting there early with Matali Actually Navarro to I mean in Navarro got there early with a chance. A Lot A lot of times the a Lotta Times. The juvenile turf sprang can be like locally based sources can do all your top two in that race were both based in California with Peter Miller and you the one hundred and thirty five bucks. That's right that's right. That's right his second his second in the race in three years. I'm just looking at the list to spun to run from Philadelphia. So you get you get a a regional kind of a B.. Track player are sharing sharing holiday for new. New York's thunder run actually ran in a mate. Nice at act backer. And the winner but I mean the parks and mom Sharing base at Far Hills at far hell and Maryland bred. That's a couple of times Toga. Yeah yeah everybody everybody got their Lixin. Actually when you when you kind of go through this And I'll just say I I came away. I mean granted. I thought the four big stars coming into enforces with the serious horsey. Our aspirations Bricks Mourner Corner Sister Charlie and Matola two of the four one I think it really does come down horse a year two bricks and mortar and Matola Louis. But I'm giving the edge bricks mortar. I thought it was fantastic campaign. He had been a mile or previously. Before you know getting hurt and undergoing that surgery and I like the fact that Brad Cox I mean Brown ran him. You know he never ran he. Random and six different courses six different states. You went from Florida to Louisiana to Kentucky Hockey to New York to Illinois and the California To win a mile and a half for the first time in his career so to me. He's a deserving of the year well and and driving home the point about the mile and a half for people that because they always beat all the same types and didn't stretch himself then no he did and and you know the there was even people that were incredulous about him going the mile and a half so you know that that score extra points Without a doubt yeah definitely and you know to me One of the Mike Smith that made the point After a couple Oh. He ran second on a pair of privet favorites midnight zoo in Omaha Beach. And he's made the point that he'd right like those races back because it was hard to 'cause over that track track but to me it was more so that those horses were caned on the rail going into the first turn. Blue Prize was tenth early. You know tolley Holy Arosa could be five or six minutes off the pace. But they're jocks really at. That did a great job keeping them in the clear and I really thought midnight. These to you You know continue just to be in traffic through into the far turn. And when she got out she finished great as a case I mean they the great job on on TV and other highlighting it where I think of a blueprint. It's got the jump on her because of the trip the greed and it and it it also. It should be noted for people that are you know insisting that the track nobody could close well. WHOA that's not true? which is simply me? Just look at the chart for the distaff. What do you mean nobody could close at that? Just you know Omaha. Beach closed closed In in as well came from often and others whitmore made up. I mean it wasn't going to get to the winners and the the exact pair But he closed Idiom really had down below chicken that juvenile fillies and that's when the track was absolutely at its worst deepest pissed most impossible right based on based on the figure and in fact. It's funny because yesterday. Paul Matisse was talking about how difficult Friday was to make figures and then it was echoed by Jerry Brown on His On his experts board board. Somebody brought up. Paul's conversation and Jerry also echoed that the way the track changed from the you know the middle part of the day to by the time even the the juvenile boys ran so typically you would if the juvenile of the males run more than two seconds faster than the phillies. You'll get say their way better than the nose Philly but I do think it was. It was a track getting off faster later. And I. I'm I'm not down on British idiom or Donna Boise at all even though that right they came home. I think they should be still terrific runners. And you know it's it's hard to gauge coming out of the juvenile being real adobe guy Exactly what that means going forward so into court definitely Nice Horse Court Vision You know hasn't isn't had much success at Stud but he's bread You know fire. Classic types with that pedigree of his female family has a lot of stamina influences. It just doesn't have much class. You won't find any stakes winners really in that immediate female family well your final the final takeaways. My final take away so I just you know I you know I was. I thought you know it was a tragic end McGowan crew. I mean it was just a Really hurt to see that happy at the very end After a thirteen of the Breeders Cup races have that happened in the ashtray and and racing. Definitely I think has some issues and concerns going forward. the people in the industry maybe do a better job messaging but I still remain. Optimistic is the horserace fan about the future and I was. I came away like in the Breeders Cup. I thought there was some great performances and Looking for work once again the next year very good well. "To not just win the Breeders Cup but also I'm just GonNa be the Philly sprint champion. And where do you think things shake out for her. In the three year old filly championship overall. It mean she's obviously going to get plenty of oats. Yeah I think she's a wing You know where some votes alternately that'll be up to the terrified irs but You know to great one I believe there's only one other filling in the country that was able to do that And we ran on breeders I cup weekend which is supposed to you know? Play a big role in the championships. And and I think that he's going to get some votes And you I'm hoping he can win. Champion it would be amazing accomplishment And I think she definitely in the mix I mean I I don't get it but We'll we'll find out in January but she's definitely deserves some votes and I'm open she can Pick up two awards January what What do you think NCA- for the rest of the year? I mean it's almost almost probably worth even thinking is we're thinking about the the La brea come back here for one. We thought about it. We have not made a plan yet. you know she just kind of let her showoff often this race and she did come in great shape. I mean jogger on the road this morning church on looks phenomenal. Weightless greater at juice. Great well sound so You know she definitely has regressed at all this year. you know it's it's Campaign very similar to where we pick some races You know like with Montemurro always targeted the oaks and then the stuff is silly was obviously targeted for the test and Breeders Cup and it worked out extremely well so it's amazing when you get these champions. Yeah I mean they can take a lot and You know I'm not not not sure I wouldn't say no to the laborious but You know we got a little time and Just kinda kiosk discover the next week or so. Well she what's interesting it for those that that are fig the look at figs how she came back one oh six buyer which falls right in line with her performances in the Dogwood and in the eye she has been in near perfect picked. Obviously just that that rock Selana and it's been a fun ride to of course the name plays into that and the most most the most I think to me the the best part of the story roths have come into the game in a big way and they've jumped into so so many positive parts of of the sport and represent such a such a positive impression I think for people the thereafter thereafter care interests. They've sponsor they're sponsoring Things and they just have been terrific additions on the ownership landscape and to to the game at large so was delighted for them. You know they. They've stepped up and lost some really nice stock Over the last four or five years and not been very good at the game like you said with their after here donations and With what they you know. They're in tune racing and what a great day united tremendous racism turf for them. Or you only got there. Yep Yep so. They had a great weekend and yeah. They're they're great to work for Alex and Jason Lit Matt. Scott do a great job to them. you know selecting there in managing their stock and they've You know got got their first champion and I'm sure many to come down the road. They've they've You got very nice breeding operation now and They have very nice. Stop well and you mentioned the mentioned Alex Elise Jason Lit and of course is crow instrumental to in an acquisition Asian for some of your clients stocks including monoploy. And so you know the from from a formidable standpoint of of young horsemanship. That's a that's pretty heady group When when you're old in Liz and And and Solis let and and Brad Cox Some of the some some of the really impressive accomplishments for young people that are involved in the game a couple of other notes from the weekend. Ah quick thoughts about Owen Dale and who else arc low. We should mention and decide. I forgot to bring up and decide from Friday and if I run well not not really. We didn't expect that trip at all. Joel we thought we would be laying up close once again going back. It seemed like You needed to be somewhat close on the turf course Friday And I told you well just you know break getting get some physician like he did it. Belmont pilgrimage horses. Just run away from him. I thought you did a good job. you know after annoyed away. I just didn't put himself in the race and found himself last and He saved ground tipped him out turning for home and rent. Well you know nearly I mean beaten say three links income running a good effort just not good enough and against those type of horses. He was going to need a perfect trip and he did not get that kind of knew that what's going to happen going into the I stern but come out. I mean good shape. We'll probably shut him down for a little bit giving some time getting ready. I three zero campaigns Next day we had our flow. And you know he acted up a little bit negate. He's done that from time to time. But it's it's you know it is what it is. I mean standing in the gate Stood in the gate on Thursday day there at Santa Anita fine and then just acted up a little bit on on race day and I don't know if it costs and you still broke decent but was caught wide around both turns and another horse was beaten. I believe three links for everything and probably didn't get the greatest trip due to the post But you know they'll regroup. He he came out of it in great shape and then They just never you know Cyprus job with universal going down the backside it just You know really thinking like dirt station may struggle with the track. A little bit of it. Just wasn't his day didn't get the effort we're expecting. We thought he would win. A big racing really thought he did You know hit the board and You know just kinda packed in so You know one thing I will say about this weekend. I've taken six horses to California. Nya You know just I thought California and Santa Anita or not California Santa Anita in the breeders. Skip great job is a great two days and You know I know my six horses. Come back in great shape and we're no worse for the wear it all so I was very pleased with the surface and the hospitality. It was a it was a great weekend well and elsewhere in addition of course to what went on here you had plenty of other activity. It's not the only place that you were running and that includes at Churchill Meadow dance was second in the in the dream supreme and I know that the curling the lady Carlin Bali yeah the Lewke. She was second to the other curling Felli as well one of my favorites pioneer. Spirit it with a win Saturday at Churchill. Yeah you're in. A big race was very pleased with the effort of Had to fight to win he the the fight then he in turn for home and he he was head to head up front he. He's a tough choice to run down. I'm so he was career now. Moonlit Garden third in turn back the alarm as well. What am I missing you by the way back to back to the cow? The Cow Bread that you brought home to run and boy. I thought great ulysses looked like a beach ball in that group in that Golden State juvenile and it was obvious early. That that that he wasn't too happy with the going now not at all he You know we thought you know break. Put Him in the race. He Iran good race. The beer course at keeneland and we added blinkers thought. You know thank you my little keeping them involved did actually just the opposite so Just wasn't his day in He just couldn't keep up early and have your sitting united struggle but the tracks so you know he's back in Kentucky now trying uh-huh wild trace remember the future. Well Brad getting getting into a nice swing of things and and getting horses. It'll it seemed like you. You plan to work backwards from the Breeders Cup Kaffee in particular in a very cleverly ever Lee managed that way and.

Brad Cox Interview

"British idiom is you heard the call ridden by hobby or Castellano trained by Brad Cox who has been so good for so many years he is now trained one thousand two hundred eight winners in his career and that total includes those three victories that he had yesterday to Keelan one at Belmont Park but none none more special than that grade one Darlie Abe's win and Brad is with me now here on H. R. R. N. Brad Good Morning Congratulations. Thank you good good morning. How you guys doing things are good my friend. Dr You still kind of on a high after that big win. Absolutely they had several breezes this morning at your show just kind of wrapping things up yeah. That's that's a win. You definitely you know saver for a while. They're foreign feud between the great ones yeah. What's that light for a trainer when you show up to work. The next day is kind of like a victory lap around the race track where everybody's coming up and shaking your hand and congratulating you you know it's it's it's good. I mean you know it's it makes it easier to get up in the morning. I can tell you that when you you know just having good horses to look at watch them work watching breeze. He's checking the next day. F You know post race stuff like that so you know it's good horses which is get up every day and do this force. The you know have horses than move forward young horses Oaks Derby British Cup type horses what you're looking for so it definitely makes getting up a little easier. I promise you that yeah and you've been around so many good ones but certainly British. Idiom is looking being the part at this point in her career and let's remind people. This was only her second career start. She's now a perfect two for two after breaking her maiden at Saratoga back in the middle of August. It look back on that race from yesterday she she won very impressively very easily. Share your thoughts on the performance. I I mean it it. was you know to think he was going to go over and perform like that no way. I mean you know she. She just she just blew just spectacular performance and you know watching watching the race I mean broke with higher did a great job of keeping up in the race not necessarily on the League exactly what you like to see setting off a couple of horses a relatively you you know reasonable pace the backside. I think he was laying fourth and I looked at my sister and I said she's in a perfect spot. I mean she's got no excuse from here and then when she brings it up to the leaders eaters to three eighths. Kinda started looking at some of the horses behind us like I think she's got these in front of her when she's come up to fairly I think you can go buy these and then obviously I was kinda looking for perfect perfect alibi and szucs Philly and I saw so perfect alibi was kind of interesting you know if she responds when heavier ask this things over and she did and you know the only thing I told you can't tell the guy I don't give them any instructions at all jocks but the only thing I told him I said it's a short wire so don't don't you know short stretch. Yeah I wire so just when you turn for home ever position and he did just that she responded well. It was very very impressive race. Did you know this philly could be this good in this caliber when you first laid eyes on her no really well not when I first laid eyes on that yeah you have to go through several steps. You know obviously months and months of preparation to really get a line on we had this. Philly keeneland England then we moved into this summer and she was really stepping for stepping up and you know acting like she was a good horse we breeze brought her to Churchill with the intent of running her at Saratoga and Yep. We just left our church. I I can't remember exactly how it was about just her last work before she ran at Saratoga. was from the gate at Churchill she'll and thought you know this phillies going to be awfully tough at Saratoga auction race. We'd like to a lot so and you know come to find find out. It was like that morning. There was a buzz I was actually at Churchill today. She broke her maiden Air Togo but there was a little buzz kept hearing like you know they're stranded like horses turning like Susan. I like four or five of them in there and you know she. I think lots of times like you know I thought she would have been down a little more and she wasn't. I just think it was a you know a lot of people like horses in the race and the silly it was second obviously came back and broke her maiden. Belmont which was a positive You know just a couple of weeks ago so I uh I think it was even though it was restricted maiden race it was decent strong maiden races well so she received a big figure out of it to that. That was the one thing that Japan Academy Rag Number. You know a couple of days later and I thought you know she moves forward off that you know she's a she's a serious horse. She obviously did it. Just took us a while to get her back to the races we point for the Pocahontas and she the week before she breezed in the breeze was just okay and We've put a blood on her blood worker blitz count. Where's off a little bit so we just decided to skip the Pocahontas in point for talking with trainer Brag Cox Looking back on yesterday's big win in the grade. One DARLIE also vitek was British idiom. She is now punched her ticket to the Breeder's cup juvenile fillies which will be held at Santa Anita in Arcadia California about well one month from today. Hey we'll be breeders cup Saturday Brad. What do you do now over the next four weeks to make sure that she stays in peak form and she's ready to fire her best shot in the Breeders Cup. Well just you know as of right. Now you know I believe we have a plane scheduled to go out on Tuesday before so that's the twenty ninth we'll just go out then with whatever we have that's earn whatever earn their way to the Breeders Cup and you know just who works. I think you know nothing fancy. I mean you know she got a lot out of yesterday's yesterday's race being the second career start and you know just hoping she comes out of in good shape so far so good she scoped great. Last night looked good last night. Put her to bed and she looked at this morning. So you know Oh everything's positive with her will to this point and you know like I said we'll bring her back to Churchill worker twice and then off to California to before as long as everything goes well when you get an opportunity unity to maybe add a couple more grade wants to your resume later today you have Juliette Fox Trot going in the grade one first lady here at Keeneland and then you'll send out in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont Park. You'll send out arc low in there so let's start with Juliet Fox Trot. Tell me a little bit about her really Nice Philly. I mean it took a really tough being California. Last time we got was beaten by. I think the two thousand eighteen races and the silica so I mean I think right if the wires the only time she was in front on of us we got back in front of her past the wiring dot great really nice really think the world ever very very classy filly to deal with in just just real real nice philly that train them and just very straightforward. Does everything alleged WanNa see a horse do of the mornings and obviously the afternoons as well since she's been here in North America America and just amazing philly not real big. I mean she she's. She's a beautiful really beautiful. I- owner beautiful head up but it's not a big big philly typical. I think you know think cut back to a mile. I think is a I think she can do anything between a mile. Maybe even a mile and a quarter anything in there but I always like a horse that you know in a mile in eighth last time cutting back to the mile today. I think a positive that she drew well in the race. looks like on paper. There's speed I'm hoping she can kind of break settle kind of shut off a little bit going into the first turning up the backside and she does that she'll be. She'll be very very competitive today. I think a lot of this feeling. I think she she some you know. Hopefully can you know get some great one placing. Maybe hopefully a great one win and I think you know. I think the plan right now to raise their next year and I really think she's got had a big feature. You know it's interesting you talk about the mile and an eighth cutting back to a mile later on this afternoon and how much you like that move. I've heard other people talk about horses making that can't move to why can that be so successful. I guess it's just a fitness thing I mean I know. We've had the feeling training all year but it's a lot angles and racing that you know you. Can you know I. I sometimes like you know You don't even if a horse runs well on the dirt going to turf. It's almost like you trick them a little bit. You know it's it's and you know I. It just felt like you can have a little more confidence with your shortening horse up as opposed to stretching now now 'cause you know the further you go. I guess the unknown but you know she performed well at a model at Qinglin this spring so we know she can do it. She didn't really shut off and rate that well that day wish you would have you know relax a little more but it was a first start off a long layoff for a long time. I asked her to run a little bit earlier and she was just kind of on the go like I said from off burning fresh off the layoff but she she's moved forward and she responds to what the routers warrant They had three different jobs under this year. You know they've all got along with her. Well so I think for on obviously knows Schroeder twice before been able to get her. They're both times so hopefully like I said if she can get take a trip and relax a little bit early. She'll be tough yeah. You've had her for four starts now. In North America her first one as you alluded to is keen last April after she campaign in in her native Great Britain when you get a horse like that Brad that comes in from overseas.

"We are going to be joined now by trainer. Brad, Cox Brett, good morning. Good morning, David. How you doing? Good. How'd you sleep last night? Early. Well. Long day, but fun day. How's it to break track record and drop it by so many points? Well, she's talented Philly, but, you know, I was an amazing performance. Very, very proud of that Philly, sees them, very talented and she, she put together yesterday and and tremendous race. Yeah, it was just something beautiful to watch. If you if you like fast horses Kofi phase, a very fast horse and and she took it to him yesterday. Very impressive win. It looks like a lot of blue sky for her on the horizon. Yeah, absolutely look great this morning. She looked great yesterday afternoon after the race. And, you know, when you're on when they run that fast, you always gotta I be a little concern with how they're gonna look the next day or what it's gonna take out of them. But, you know, honestly, she looked. She looked amazing this morning Walker for twenty five thirty minutes, and then grazed there for another half hour. So, and she's really thinking about how the race in good order. So very pleased with the way she looked morning. That's great. That's the best news. You can have. It's always touching go. You're right. The faster the horse, the more you gotta worry about them. That's for sure. You. You did a great thing in the black eyed. Susan you Lali really made a step forward and look for a minute, like she was going to win the whole thing. Yeah. You know we thought she would, you know like the Mylan. And as you know, on figures, I kinda thought she's step below. We had to maybe do something to, you know. Close the gap. And I fought Joel did a fantastic job, you know, she, she broke, well, she's done on the inside. She broke while I say, every answer ground, give her a tremendous rod, and yes, you really showed some heart and, and determination to battle back and, you know, just nearly defeated but a huge effort and very, very proud of that Philly. And what she was able to do yesterday with, you know, obviously, adding to her value with the greatest placing and Mr. Dobson owns the family as well. So a big a big update on some pages for his broodmare band. That's great. Yes. You're into terrific race. And then in the thirteenth, the alert depan distaff you won that one too. I mean these. That's fantastic. What a day. Yeah, this doesn't mice filler. We thought a lot of our took us awhile to get her to the races started racing last summer at Ellis Park, and she's a really nice silly. She had a setback as a two year old, and we give her all the time she needed, and she came back and she's, you know, once again, Mr. safer, owns the mayor. And it was it was a big, you know update for his marriage as well. And her this Philly being about curling obviously residual is much more. You know what she's worth a lot more today than she was yesterday this? So it's a very nice feeling Louis and once again, did a good job, you know, far as the trip, she received and really had to fight hard to get there. And she showed some determination and grit, and very nice Philly. Well, you can see you have a way with the ladies and, and you bring these, these Phillies mirrors along slowly and, and run them through their conditions kinda shook mcgahey style as you move move forward to the stakes and it's obviously paid off for you. Yeah, absolutely. It's, it's, you know, these Phillies some having pedigree. That's, that's the goal is to get black type. You know, you know, greater black type and make them steak winter. So, you know, we got we felt like we got a lot accomplished yesterday. With these, these Phillies. We, we ran at Pimlico and, you know, hopefully, you know, we'll have had some luck today with the colts in the Preakness..

Wrapping up two thousand eighteen and get started with two thousand nineteen well, and you know, to be honest, I mention I voted for you among the three finalists for trainer. And I I was a little surprised I thought that given the year you had the breakthrough with great ones. And the fact that you were going to have at least one champion, and you know, flirted with a couple of other division finalists. I I thought that you deserve to be a trainer finals. Yeah. We were not. But. It is. And you know, I'm here. And going to enjoy the I love it. Well, you will be you will be finalised at some point.
