"Play more and so riders and teams can experiment with the tires to see what genuinely works with their bikes strengths and weaknesses and not just select based on track temperature or conditions for that particular day. And you know. I get the idea that it's supposed to be a one baseline for everybody but what you end up with is teams and engineers and writers just showing off how well they can adapt their bike to a particular tire as opposed to how good of a bike they can build and i know their arguments on both sides. I'm just saying i would like to see them. Open things up a little bit more. Give teams and riders more options. And let's see what they can do. And you know you can only balance as you go. Some i know but one way or the other five more years michelin until the end of twenty twenty six and then probably beyond all right. So let's move on from the news to some of your comments and we gotta start with what happened. Just a few days ago an arrogant that incredible classic battle between marc marquez impeccable. For the whim. Lotta people express pretty much the same opinion as super motor six twenty one loving the intensity of the battle between those two guys on sunday miller's chassis girl said she didn't even breathe the final three laps and i will admit that i was in the opposite camp as you instead of not being able to breathe those last three laps. I was full on yelling at the tv with every move by mark and every counter. Move by paco. In fact my other half. I actually said at the end of the race. That's the loudest that you've talked to the tv for a race in a really long time. So if she noticed an must have been pretty exciting. Ending i'm peter fifty carey said. Hey you know what. Love or hate marc marquez. He always makes things more exciting. You're not gonna get any arguments out of me about that one now. A couple of people pointed out that mark has been a little bit wild at times this season out of control at times this year to which i would say. What do you mean this year every year marquez as three of getting a little bit out of control from time to time looking at you argentina but i'll admit that even when he goes completely off the deep end in the wrong direction. It's just as much fun as when he has one of these classic battles with somebody like dove. You're in this case petco. The entertainment factor is there. Although this battle really was like those andrea the video so fights in the sense that nobody was out of control and that made things even better. I mean andreas. Nfc both mentioned this over on facebook. They said it wasn't just that the battle was exciting. It was it was a really clean race to between mark and petco. And i'm glad that multiple people brought that up because i failed to mention that on the post ratio because the battle was so exciting and there are so many passes and you know everybody was focused on. Just how crazy. It was down to the end that it was easy to overlook that it was well raced on both sides. Both riders were clean. Both riders have respect for the other one. And i would say that made the racing that much better because now the router was out of control and i agree with jamie. It was very cool that it was so reminiscent of those mark. Dovy battles and. I'm pretty sure i read somewhere that mark even compared petco back by after the race. Very favorably to andrei defeats yo. So and those epoch clashes that those guys had but that wasn't the only thing you guys were talking about from last week. you know. I picked maverick fan. Y'all is to finish top five. That was obviously not the right. Move to make instead. He was at the back of the pack which i really was a little disappointed and i thought he was going to do a little bit better although we did look at the numbers and at least he finished closer to the front. Then lorenzo salvadore the only thing. I was disappointed him was that that really didn't translate to a better overall. Finish than the types of results. Lorenzo salvatori typically turns them But all home cross posted on. Read it over to criminal. This analysis on the motor. Gp saab of maverick every lap of his first race. Now criminal data has posted over on the motor weeks before in. He gets me every time with the numbers. I mean you guys know how much i love numbers and the did another great job a breaking down the numbers. This time of mavericks race compared to some of the other riders. And i'll encourage you to go to read it and find that post and follow it because he made charts and graphs and everything. It's fantastic and it really showed how mavericks pace picked up by the end of the race. Now you could argue that. He was just dropping off less because there was quite a bit of fall off at the end of that era gombe race but it was more than that. i mean. maverick. Actually was picking up pace and that matched his post race comments about how he said. He felt a little uncomfortable and the bike. You didn't want to push it too hard at the beginning but once he started to kind of figure things out mid race then he felt more confident in that pretty much matches up with the time she where you can see was getting faster in the closing laps while everybody else was losing time because they had already used up all of their tires and that was something that was also confirmed by valentina. Rossi who had a great front row vantage point for maverick fan since he was mired at the very back of the field himself and so i had plenty of time back there to watch. What maverick was doing But like i said there were some encouraging numbers at the end of the race with the lap times. Not just coming down but crossing into the same range is guys like jack miller and brad bender. Although jack did say was having some issues with this shift or at the very end of the race and so he was getting closer to where you would have expected him to be or will expect him to be immoral racist going forward but mavericks posts comments in addition to kind of giving us some insight as to his thought process during the race itself. I think also opened the door bit to the challenges that he's going to face in the switch he said the breaking into the corner and getting up out of the corner where the biggest problems for him early on and that all comes down to buy characteristic and rider style and of course. That's something that has already comfortable with. Because he's had years to learn that bike mavs gotta catch up to him in a matter of weeks and months and so. That's a big challenge. Now it's not as hard for maverick. Because he did have somebody like allies to go beforehand. He can look at that data he can talk to allies and find out how he's getting into the corner house getting out of the corner when he's getting on the throttle things like that and of course the data lays it out even more clearly than just talking to another ryder but that is a challenge. And that's kind of what desma valvo one was talking about over. Read it the difference in bike styles. That maverick pointed out referring to the fact that you know the yamaha the super both corner speed bikes where the appropriate has to be ridden very deep into the corner. And you've gotta get on the throttle very early because well right now. The chassis is far better than the power. They're getting out of the engine and that prompted desma to ask. Is this the big challenge for mab. The new challenge from ab adjusting his style to that bike and i would say very simply yes absolutely. That's gonna be the critical component for maverick fan. Yala going forward..

"More at attract where he has had some success. So that's my watch list the writers. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for maybe surprise heading into this weekend. Which means we've got one more thing left. Do it's part of the show. I'm looking forward to making some picks. And i'm not even going to mess around. I'm gonna dive right in here and tell you who my top five are for. This weekend's arrogant g. p. starting fifth i'm gonna go out on a little bit on a limb here. Go maverick van. Yao's started taking a flyer on that you know with the team. Momentum coming out of silverstone and then y'all is being ultra motivated to prove himself to everyone. I think we could see a little of beginner's luck as a result he could surprises here and a top five would be a big surprise in a big accomplishment. So look out for maverick in this race to use all that momentum to advantage before you know there's a chance that could all disappear the pike's not that great so mavin theft. I know that's kind of crazy. But i'm gonna go maverick. Fan yellows fifth then in fourth brad bender. He's been way faster to start. The second half of the season and arrogant is a track where you can be aggressive as we've seen so many times in the past with marc marquez. Bender is that same type of rider so if the big if he can qualify reasonably well. He can be top five sunday afternoon. That brings us to my podium. Finishers for this sunday's aragon gpa. And third i'm going fabio sharara. He was absolutely brilliant silverstone his struggles last season here are minor concern and the fact that he doesn't like this track a whole lot is a concern but again a minor one. I don't see him not on the podium but there are strong players here that may be able to lock him out of the top spots. I'm going to be conservative on and go third. Which brings me to my top two and second marquess because the last mark track and amusing finger quotes when i say that with saxon ring and of course we also saw what he was able to do there and with this being almost as strong of track i expect almost as strong of a result he could easily score his second podium of the season some going in second and i hope this is a battle right down to the wire between him and the guy who i picked to win the entire race. Alex rinse. he looked strong last weekend. Not otherworldly like fabio but still excellent. He was fantastic in aragon last season. And while i'm not sure if anybody can beat fabio right now. Rinse has a chance. So i'll take fire on the suzuki zouqi after they're showing here last year in both races. So that's my top five for the oregon. Gp maverick gaullism fifth. Brad bender fourth and on the podium. Fabio coiro marc marquez and alex rance. I know that's not that exciting when it comes to championship points but it sure would be a very interesting podium. So up next while we've got a race means we'll have a post show check back. At the end of the weekend. Where i'll recap all of the action from aragon and three moto to ammo. Gp give you my take on the race. As soon as i'm done watching him remember. That won't have seen all the post race interviews and debriefs maybe just parked for may basically be my gut reaction to what we saw and what it means for the championship Then after i get done it'll be your turn all right to leave your comments on facebook and read it and we'll talk about him on the full show later on in the week along with the latest modo. Gp news including the impending. Return of one. Mr andrea david. Co so to the moto. Gp grid. Too joined maverick. Vanilla is after his return this weekend. So much exciting stuff to talk about. We got so many episodes coming up. And i don't want you to miss a single one. So if you haven't done it yet. I would highly recommend you subscribe. You can do that on apple podcasts. Google podcasts spreaker stitcher player dot. Fm spotify iheart radio amazon podcast. Just go your favorite podcasting site type in modo week. You should be able to find.

"Better strategy a lot of competition and insane qualifying tyres but the downside is it also leads to insane. Rnd costs an potentially safety issues as each manufacturer pushes the edge. More more to try to outdo the other one. And i think the safety issue is more prominent. Now a motor gp but especially the cost issue is a big. They're trying to reduce costs not increase themselves. I'm not sure that the manufacturers would go back down that road for the same reason. I don't necessarily think they will go back down the open issue road as well because the rnd costs just balloon out of control. But that being said. I do think there is room for improvement here. And not just in terms of consistency. I think there's room for michelin to offer a wider variety of tires. Because right now they do hold tire tests. But they're really more focused on verifying safety and really confirming that one tire. One set of tyres isn't completely out in left field as opposed to picking an assortment of tires that will work for different manufacturers so instead of a straight soft medium hard compound based on track temperature. Because really. that's what those compounds are. Most reliant on is the temperature of the track and self taught every manufacturers khanna locked into that hard tire if it's cooler every manufacturers locked into that soft tire and if it's somewhere in between of course the medium instead of really the weather in the track conditions dictating everybody using almost the same tire exclusively. I'd rather see compounds. Geared towards different applications. You know focusing on things like edge grip in rear-drive and hard front breaking addressing characteristics more so than just temperature range something that would give teams more choices to suit their particular bike or riders characteristics without ripping the lid off on specialized tires and testing. So they could accomplish that by instead of bringing one set of tires to the track bringing two or three and yes that would increase the cost for michelin. It would increase the are in d for teams but only to a certain extent far less than having multiple tire manufacturers and what that leads to. So yeah i think. I think i mentioned this before at some point on the program that i think that michelin really needs to kind of expand their horizons a little bit and instead of just going with soft medium hard trying to do some specialized compounds that would help woman you factor or another bitches make even you know. Give everybody something that they can use if they choose to use it and they can really work out and testing what would be the best combination for their bike. All right let's move on. From what happened in silverstone to what's about to happen this weekend. Aragon with the return of maverick. Y'all as a criminal to posted a couple of picks of maverick on the appropriate getting fitted up for the bike and misano. Then there's also a short video that can check out at motogp dot com which you can watch for free. Even if you don't have video pass along with short and very vague assessment by romano abyssinia. No obviously everybody was happy and positive about it. That's why he's going to ride this weekend. and it's kind of interesting that album ciano right off. The bat did say that things went really well because they kinda played it. Close to the vest with andrei ceo. So and it turned out that's because he wasn't getting along with the bikes so much. So romano said it was positive he bingo too far. He was kind of general with this assessment. Does that mean that math was maybe hot and cold on the bike. I don't think so. And i'm sure we'll get a much better picture and have some concrete answers once we do see him on the bike this weekend but like any new writer on a brand new bike wouldn't necessarily expect the world but what should we expect. Well that's what care. Cb are was wondering over on it. Asking ken maverick than y'all is really truly accelerate noting. How much shorter and lighter. Maverick is aleisha. Spa grow and knowing that bike was built for allies to take advantage of it. How might that affect maverick. Like can you get on the bike and do all right away or could lead to another circle and cycle of frustration on the thing where things in this case that i would say are working for maverick in the situation. Apprently as main test rider. This year has been andre the video its yo so the aforementioned andrea who's far closer to maverick in size so i think that helps a little bit. I think that maybe some of the things that andrea will would be the same types of things that maverick would say need to be addressed as well and then the second thing that i think is working to. His advantage is the fact that venezuela's is smaller than ally as opposed to bigger and. It seems that it's easier to adjust to bike to a smaller rider than it is to adjust it to a bigger one. Just ask danilo petrucci about that But pesca potter also mentioned on the throttle style. That ally said that he's had to adopt take full advantage of the horsepower available to the appropriate. Its current form which isn't enough horsepower. So he's got to get on the throttle early early a pesky podcast says that's something that is going to be more difficult for maverick to adjust to. I think it will be for sure now. Of course they do have a new engine on the way to an appropriate might be able to squash that potential. Hang up pretty quickly by getting maverick. That new power plant as soon as they possibly can but it will be interesting either way to see how maverick apps and how quickly he adapts to the new bike because it's definitely not going to be as good on paper as the yamaha that he stepped away from and for a writer that hasn't shown the greatest amount of patients in the past. I don't know month or so s- going to be a pretty big challenge for him. Of course we're gonna find out next weekend. Exactly how well he's going to be able to step up to that challenge super excited for this era gombe round. I'm okay Couple of other things to talk about kobe's posted a link to a chart where he's been keeping stats for facebook group motogp supporters essay. I hadn't heard of them. But i certainly am gonna join if you guys will have me And i love that chart not just because it's all about numbers. Although the numbers are a big part of it. I love numbers but that it makes it really easy to see how consistency is once again playing a pivotal role in the championship. And you can see that chart without having to go all the way to facebook if you don't want to i believe he's posted on reddit and that chart spells it up pretty clearly when you look at. Just how linear of a slope. It is for fabio charro. How is points consistently keep going up but at the same time how so. Many of the other riders lines below him have converged while guys like joy mirror. Brad bender have trended a little bit upwards others like jack miller and petco back. Ni- have really flattened out so while those guys are basically sharing points by interchanging with one another the open space in the graph between fabio quarrels line and everybody else's keeps getting bigger and bigger says a really great chart. I think it really spells out in very simple terms. What fabrio has been able to do that. Nobody else has done this season. And then moving on the dj. Yes i am going on vacation this weekend and i apologize by the way that the shows that day late. I'm kind of moving into this new role at this new job. And i had to work really really late on wednesday night so i didn't have time to record the show and i am going away tomorrow and dj. I wish i was headed for four days in the beatha partying it. Up with mark valentino. There's a party you know andrea nana is going to be there to know. Take me half the time just to get there and then turn around and come right back. There will be beach involved with my weekend for sure but nothing nearly as exotic. It'd be and the dj's poll this week the best type of victory celebration personally. I'm a traditional guy when it comes to celebrating win i think a huge stand up whealy completely rolls. The remmy gardner did do a pretty bad ass burnout. After his moto to win in silverstone. And that's very cool because you don't get the burnouts very often so that one's pretty high on my list as well all right. So let's wrap up the program with some picks and video posted on reddit over the past few days. We'll start with med bay. Seventeen three whose fiancee was making us. All look bad totally tearing it up at the track with her ninja. Three hundred and you may donuts. I'm going to the track with you. You know how to do it. Donuts the morning maybe a couple of cold ones at the end of the day after you're done on track and we'll be like the perfect of course in my world what you experienced. Maybe it will be the exact opposite. My other half wouldn't wanna get anywhere near the bike. But she would definitely love hanging out with the tail wagging pit crew. In fact i showed.

"All available corner speed and grip and it provides just as many places to get the back end out of shape as it does to lose the front so you have to temper your aggression which is probably why someone like. Cow crutch. slow doesn't consider this to be his favourite british track but it sure is a lot of fun to watch so that's where they're racing this weekend. Now let's talk about the riders particularly the favorites. The people i think have the best shot at competing for a podium and maybe taking the women this one and we're gonna start our favorites list this week with bobbio charro now. Fabio doesn't have a whole lot of moto. Gpa experience at silverstone and that's the theme that's going to carry through to a lot of the writers we talk about buddy goes triple for fabio because on motogp bike race. He's made it through a grand total of one corner that was back in two thousand nineteen and it was that wild crash that saw andrea. Also use fabulous. Bike is a sweet jump which was exciting to watch. but it didn't work out for either of them when it came to more results on. Fob you dig qualified fourth that weekend. And he was fastest an f. p. one f p two f. p. three and warm up the session. He wasn't fast. This was f. p. Four in that when he was second to marquez and that was as a rookie on a satellite petronas spike is a much better writer. Now he's on a much better bike to boot. You then toss in the fact that he's run well every single round the season even in the racist where the results don't make it. Look that way am. Fabio is one of the writers to beat this weekend. That being said it's racist slam dunk. It's essentially for him like learning a new track and however much he doesn't want to think about it the championship is going to start to linger in the back of his mind and that increases the chances that either takes too many risks or too few so even though he's capable of going out there and winning it a lot of factors at play that could prevent him on one side or the other now in exactly the opposite position. The fabio is marquez. Who has absolutely nothing to lose in this race and everything to gain by taking whatever risks are necessary to get on the podium and go after a win. Austria showed us once again. That mark is getting stronger and more capable of running near the front of races round by round and even though things went kinda sideways for him in the rain in the last race he's going to be bringing a lot of confidence into this one especially with another week to rest and recover even further and while this isn't marks best track you kind of have to take that idea in perspective because mark is one of only three riders on the grid to actually one emoji. Gp race at silverstone. He's got three podiums here and he was third in the last race that was run so even quote unquote not as best is still better than pretty much anyone else. So the farther removed. He is from his injury. The more promising he looks. And i can't imagine marquez won't find a way to factor into this race even if arrogant is his next real target because he is absolutely out of this world good when it comes to aragon next ryder up the favorites list joanne mirror. And i'm taking a little bit of a flyer here on. Show him being in the favorites category. But i think i can make the argument We'll start on the bad side. The bad news here is that mere has never raced at silverstone emoji. Gp he was injured in two thousand nineteen. The two thousand eighteen race was cancelled along. With of course the twenty twenty race so the last time that zhou amir raced in silverstone was two thousand seventeen and that was moto three. Not even motoo so. He's a complete unknown. When it comes to the premier class at this track but suzuki is not they have a win. In two of the last three mo- gp races run here with alex. Rinse two thousand. Nineteen and the maverick daniela's in two thousand seventeen and we saw in austria that their new ride height device gave them a big competitive and a big motivational boost particularly for mir. And that's something. He'll be able to utilize again this weekend. I think now wins of course won the last race here but with him. Struggling and mir running really well over the past. Couple of rounds. I'm going to go joanne as zouqi. I'm betting on to make a run at the podium. Come sunday on. Next up on the list. Is jack miller in this is another rider. Who doesn't have a whole lot of history here to build on although it does have a fair amount of wrecks at silverstone Jack's only premier class points finish was an eighth here. It was in the last race was run that was in two thousand nineteen. And he's coming into this one after two shockingly bad results in austria but there are multiple reasons to think that he could break out this weekend. Get back on track and get far better. Finish first and foremost is where jack has run. Well the season his best racists have been harassed lama and catalonia all of which are far closer infield to silverstone than a place like the rebel ring is where he was struggling. A miller spin able to make the dakota handle. And he's going to get the chance to do it again this weekend. And don't forget that a couple of races go couple of british cheese ago andrea co so. Prove that a coty can win at this track and that was a bike that didn't go round corners. Nearly as well as the current one does. So i look for a bounceback from jack in the podium contention and he's going to be super motivated to run well especially considering how austria went because didn't go like he ordered to. Kati wanted it to then. The final rider on my favorite's list this weekend brad bender. And i know you're thinking. Oh you just picked him because he won last weekend and yeah kind of them especially since he got there. More by cunning and rain prowess than by all out speed. But he's also the healthiest casey writer on a bike right now and the one that has the most momentum and the most confidence coming into this round kitty and hasn't really been able to test themselves consistently and silverstone because of all of the schedule interruptions. But they were getting better with paul spago and of course. They've made quite a leap in performance. Since that point so i would be surprised if at least one. Ktm rider if not more than one. Didn't jump up into contention at some point in this race and with bender having podium here motoo to emoto three think he's got a shot to complete that trifecta and collect silverstone podium in the premier class heart so those are the favorites so sorta writers that. I have the best shot of winning coming into this weekend. But they're not the only ones. I'll be keeping my eye out on the next list. The watchlist are guys who i think have a legitimate shot finishing in the top five and maybe making a push for the podium if they have a good day and we'll start out by talking about alex. Rinse the last time that moto. Gp ram at silverstone ruins one in one of the most stunning last corner passes in the motor gp era surprising marc marquez in a drag race to the flag and that should normally would make him one of the favorites coming into this weekend and i struggled with this one because he's kind of on my favorite's list in my mind but i couldn't officially put him there because he's just been stuck in between the season hasn't been qualifying well and then sometimes he does a good job overcoming that poor qualifying moving up and other times he just can't find his way through and the injury few weeks back didn't help matters at all either but with his success here silverstone does present the opportunity for alex rinse to break out of his slump get a season back on the right track so while i do expect better performance out of him. I'm not quite sure if it's going to be enough for the podium yet. I will say this though. Alex if you wanna put on another two thousand nineteen like show for us. I'm all in. Let's get it going. Pick your guy who went to chase down and give us an exciting finish Next up on the list is petco back. Naya back is kind of the opposite case as rinse. He doesn't have much of anything at all. In terms of results to lean on at silverstone just alone podium back in two thousand sixteen in moto three but this season he hasn't struggled at all. I think he's looked excellent. All things considered yeah. There was a little stumbling stereo. But he came back strong in the austrian. Gp looking fantastic in both the dry and the wet showing the best speed of any of the dakotas and now that he's moved himself up the second in the championship. I think petco is going to be ultra motivated to try to make up ground on. Fabio quarrel not an easy task and without those southeast asian rounds to lean on for their advantage..

"Just losing his mind you know and it's like it brad. Bender ended up winning the fuck and race win in the race. And i think he crossed the finish line. Motorscooter could've could've passed but I really thought it was a crazy strategy with three laps left. I think the assumption was that everyone was going to go in. But on brad bender for winning the race and having the balls to stay out there really exciting racing. I'm telling you f one people. I know wants great this year. I'm not saying. Don't watch one. Because i've been watching a little bit of it this year. It's been very exciting. But like you know mo- gpa at me. Yesterday's race was twenty eight laps. And that's actually on the higher rent. They usually like twenty three laps. Twenty four laps. It seems and the shit is over in like a little over an hour and there's more passing one race then you guys get in like half a fucking season so i'm really trying to sell you on that so anyway. I still been out here enjoying myself. I did the did the casino down there in connecticut. Foxwoods on friday night had a great time. I'm still like the balance of my act is off right now. I'm trashing too much shit. And i'm not making fun of myself enough so i just a certain feeling i get off. Get when i get off stage. And i do that kind of sounded like a moron being a little more humble little more self deprecating and then when you go off on something else it'll hold a little more weight as opposed to fuck it. "Going back and forth. I lost count. How many times these guys past each other right which is why i like motor. Gp best and then all of a sudden starts fucking rain out. These guys are out there on slicks doing like fucking anywhere from one hundred fifty to two hundred miles an hour and then going into turns when they slow down to about. I don't know like seventy so this like five laps to go and all of a sudden it just starts pouring rain and now they have to slow down to like. I don't even know what they would do. I mean i think they will. They will like. i don't know what's slowing down motor. Gps i think on a straightaway. They only go in like eighty miles an hour and it's pouring rain out with slicks on and they're racing with each other and filing with three laps to go. I don't know what they'll they'll put the hand up like fucking all the leaders we're going to go in and we're gonna switch bikes and get on a bike that has tires that can deal with the rain right and so basically everybody went and everybody followed the leaders because they were going in. Fuck it. we'll do it too. There's only three lapse lapse left so and valentino rossi in a couple of guys decided to stay out there so the leaders of the race go into the pits jump off their bikes to get on the bike. That actually has tires for the rain. That's out there as brad. Bender and valentino rossi. These guys they keep race it and they keep going around and they build up like a fucking three quarter of a lap lead with now two and a quarter laps to go.

"He would have been fast enough to be there with petco by probably would've finished ahead of where. Hey martine but in the dry of course he was going to battle for the win in the dry he looked absolutely fantastic. And it's the best. He's looked since his return outside of germany so he may have punt it in the end. But i'm looking very forward to seeing what mark is gonna do when we get to silverstone and especially in aragon where he's been so so good in the past it's very saxon ring like track for him and i did see at least one headline that. Mark had some painkiller injections in his shoulder before he went out there. But keep in mind back to back races at the rebel ring which are very heartbreaking heart. Accelerating track that's going to be really hard on your shoulder and your arms. So i'm not that concerned about it because he's obviously going to have a week to recover before silverstone. There's another week between the british grand prix and aragon then. That's the next back to back. Aragon going into misano. So there's a little bit of time. They're not imagine that for that back to back. Probably some sort of painkilling injection there too. I'm art couple of other writers that we need to talk about starting with our championship leader. Fabio quattro pro. Who also made a mistake on wets running away wide and determined won his first time background after he switched off to his reign bike. That was the same lap in the same corner that mark wrecked in and that took fabio from possible. Podium all the way back to seventh not where he wanted to finish. Obviously and he wasn't really happy about that. But i argue. He should be happy about it because things could have been way worse. Instead of running wide he could have suffered the same fate as mark instead. Not only did he stay on the bike and make it to the end of the race but he actually increased his championship. Lead again by seven points so seventh-place result or not it was mission accomplished. He just needed to get through both rebel ring weekends without losing big chunks of his lead and not only did he not lose he actually gained from the break until now so even though he finished seventh still a good weekend for him and for show amir he didn't really get the opportunity to make his presence known in this one although he was moving up along with. Hey martine in those mixed conditions but his relatively unnoticed fourth-place resolve at the end of this one may not be memorable but it certainly helps him out in the points which will discuss here in a moment by the way how. 'bout eager like lona and luca marini staying on slicks and finishing fifth and sixth in this one their best finishes ever emoto gp even valentino. Rossi ended up eighth. And it's amazing to think that none of those guys that gambled on slicks actually wrecked out wild wild stuff all right. So you're podium and this one brad bender. He's brave. He's ballsy he's a little bit crazy and now because of that he's also a two time motor gp winner. He gambled and it paid off big. And i'm sure the. Ktm was thrilled to have their colors on the top of the box at their home track. Petco back naya was fast in the dry. He was fast in the wet and he's now taking the point into cadiz championship quest. Which will discuss here in a second and then hey. Martine rounds out the podium. He continues to impress and he now has three podiums in his first seven motor. Gp racism remember. A couple of those races were back from injury. He was definitely not at one hundred percent. Now let's talk about the championship. Because like i mentioned a moment ago. Fabio coiro actually increased his lead by decent amount over these two rebel ring races. But that doesn't tell. The entire story johann zarco wrecked in this race. One of only two riders that wrecked out of this race. Miguel oliveira was the other one and as a result. He relinquished both. Second and third place in the ryder standings to appear guys that finished higher in this race. Then fabio deb. So yes the lead increased. It's at forty seven points now just shy of a tourist margin and that's pretty big but that lead is now over petco bag in second followed by defending champs roy moore who sitting that same forty seven points out. Sarko is still hanging in there but at forty nine points out after the wreck. Then jack miller is v. he's minus seventy six but now things do look a little bit more interesting because now instead of a satellite rider being second in the queue fabulous instead looking down at a pair of factory writers and one of those has a championship to his name so yes. The contenders are further back. But i think both of those contenders have more potential to make up ground and all it would take is one slip up fabrio and we've got ourselves a pretty compelling championship battle between him. A factory do khadi rider and a factory suzuki rider. Still bobbio is in the driver's seat. Here and i think he survived the biggest challenge so far this year getting past these austrian rounds and not having things be a disaster but the championship drama is starting to build a little bit because of the writers that are immediately behind him now even if they do have a decent amount of ground that they have to make up so my take on the red bull ring for this weekend's austrian. Gp just when you thought things couldn't get any crazier.

"The past two years. It's saved the most outlandish chapter for last a banger of a dry race by the way this was shipping up to be an incredible race in the dry. That somehow turned into complete an utter mayhem of the rain. Just pouring down with four laps to go and a host of riders lavarnway by brad bender taking the ultimate gamble. Then maybe just maybe he can make it to the end of the race on slicks and not seriously damaged himself in the process. And then you had the previous leaders. Petco back nyheter. Hey martine and company blazing through the field after coming in for their wet tyres. It was literally impossible in those last couple of laps to predict what was going to happen and where it was going to happen on track. Because it didn't matter. The brad bender had a huge lead at that point he could erect in any given corner. I mean hell at one point. It looked like there was a legitimate chance that valentino rossi was going to get his two hundred th podium with luca marini alongside of him on the box. I mean that would have been just like mind-blowing and i'm sure the fans would have gone absolutely nuts in fact i'm pretty positive if that had happened. That all of the fans in the rossy grandstand would have stormed the track. It would have been a scene for the ages. i'm sure. And if i were rossi i would have just simply retired right. There had that happen to be like i've done it. It's over two hundred. The fans celebrating. I'm just gonna pack it all up and just go home. It's yamaha would be left with no riders at that point But this was so wild that as peck obama and where hey martine were blazing through the field on their wet tyres passing all these guys on slicks. They crossed the line. They weren't even sure exactly where they finished and they were both on the podium so it was absolutely positively unbelievable especially considering that the writer that beat both of the duke. Audi's did it on slicks. And that rider. Of course brad bender and you can say he's incredibly brave you can say he's got really big brass ones and you'll be right on both accounts but to stay out in the pouring rain. Not just on slicks mind you but remember on a full dry setup with carbon fiber brake discs. That's a little bit nutty. And by my estimation it would take either and australian or a south african to have the kony's to do that and make it work and in this case it was the latter. Although i would not have been surprised to see jack miller. Try that in fact. I was shocked that he was the first rider to come in and get wet tyres bride. Had no grip had no brakes. And just how much did he have to slow down at the end of this race as a result well his last lap was a one fifty point three two one nearly twenty five seconds off the best lap of the race and very likely close to the number. I would run on an absolutely perfect day with perfect conditions and a perfectly set of disposal But bender made it to the end of this one and even with a three second penalty for exceeding track limits in the final corner which he did but even with that penalty he still won by thirteen seconds at his team's track. It was absolutely thrilling. It was brilliant stop. It was very harrowing the entire time wondering if he was going to be able to make it or if he was going to chuck it into a gravel trap then he is a little bit crazy but hell. The gamble paid off. Big any wins the race. Now for petco bag even before the rain started. We had a fantastic battle brewing. That looked like it was going to be a classic. Look like he was going to go down to the wire between petco and marc marquez. In fact those to put on such a great show that it really was a shame that we couldn't see how the dry race was gonna play out. Because i think we would have had just as much to talk about with that result as we did with the rain. Falling in all of the drama that ensued a pekka really step things up in this one. After struggling in last weekend's race not only showing speed but also the poison variety that really is maturing not being intimidated by a guy like marc marquez. Right on his back tire. He struck back at every opportunity. As those two went back and forth for the lead he was also super fast on the wet tyres at the end to pass all of the gamblers except for bender. So it was still a really good day especially in the championship and no worse in the wet then he would have in the dry so at least from that perspective things worked out for him but i really really would've liked to have seen that race play out between him and mark down to the wire now. Hey martine had a wild himself. He led this win early. Look like you might have the opportunity to sweep both races. Then he felt totally out of podium contention by like a second and a half comes charging back into the picture. Once the rain started the fall in the mix conditions and then he also excelled on wet tyres following bag as those two stink their way through all of the riders on slicks only finding out after he crossed the finish line that all of that effort got him back on the podium. The big thing here for me. With where he martine last week. He showed us all out speed this week. He showed us versatility. Mean think about when he got back into the podium picture it was after the rain started falling and they were on slicks conditions. He'd caught fabio quad charro from over a second back. Then they put the wet tyres on and he confidently road by all of those. Riders stuck with petco bag and got himself on the podium. And i'll tell you. Jack miller has been having a good season. Petco back by is now having a really good season but gee the and company have to be absolutely thrilled with the potential that lies within who. Hey martine they have a fantastic problem on their hands that they now have three legitimately talented still young riders. And of course. They're going to have to slots on the factory team. Come twenty twenty three. Although really the test for martine happens from here on out now that we know that he's healthy again. We know he's capable of winning a race and finishing on the podium. We really get to see where he sits in the mix among the do riders and really in motor. Gpa is a whole from this point forward as he moves away from the relatively safe confines of the rebel ring when it comes to kati to more challenging circuits like silverstone in aragon where they haven't done as well so we can step up in the next couple of rounds then do cloudy know that not only do they have a talented writer to work with. But he's ready to go right now. So fantastic racist for him martine. Let's talk more marquez. Next because despite the fact that so many writers stayed out there on slicks only one person actually crashed after the rain started falling marquez on rain tyres to and i feel bad for mark because he would have been on the podium otherwise had.

"And like i said at the top of the show. You would think that coming out of last weekend's race that would make picking this one a heck of a lot easier because last week was a total crapshoot. But i don't think it makes a whole lot easier at all because there were so many writers. Like petco back. Nyah like jack miller lite navarine vanilla who struggled and shouldn't have and then the ktm's struggling much with frontier. But they're getting the solution handed to them so we could have easily just right there with those guys. I was talking about five more riders seriously in the mix. Then we had a week ago. So who do you pick. How's it all going to shake out. Well we're gonna figure that out right now here. My top five finishers for this weekend's austrian gp at the rebel ring in austria and and theft. I'm gonna pick brad bender. And i know that's a spot lower than he finished last week but stick with me on this one. He's super fast capable of competing for the podium with this new frontier. I'm just a little uncertain about his ability to qualify near the front based on what we've seen the season and that makes me temper my expectations just enough to put him near the front. But in fifth in fourth for this weekend's race i'm gonna go with fabio queiro. You know this is going to be a lot more competitive event since everybody knows what to expect now and that means more dukakis near the front a harder time for fabio to hold onto the podium. But i'll tell you a fourth would be a fine result for him one way or the other i'm going to pick him fourth. Then that brings us to our podium finishers in third. I'm going to go with last week's winner and marteen. The kid is fast. He's got all of the momentum in the world right now but there's also going to be a lot more pressure as he expects to repeat. And that's gonna make this race a bit more difficult for a rookie. So i haven't just off the top spot in third then. Hopefully we get an insanely good race between these top. Two finishers in second in that battle. I'm gonna pick jack miller. Jack was just a little too confident in the gp twenty-one grip in the last race. he'll be smarter this time around. And not wanting to be embarrassed by pray mac again. I think he's going to have a really really good run. We've seen him come down to the final term. Before i'm got my fingers crossed is gonna come down to the final turn again with the same exact rider. The one in picking the win this one show mirror and i know it's probably a stretch but i'm gonna go with one part performance last week and the other part pure momentum and enthusiasm over the right device and a resulting change in strategy taking it right down to the wire between him miller m. martine so. That's my top five for this. Weekend's austrian gp breath interim fifth fabio cultural fourth and on the podium martine jack miller and your winner for the first time this season joanne mir do you agree disagree. You know what to do. Let me know in the comments on facebook and on read it he can tell me. My picks are terrible. Or they're awesome. We're told me who you think is going win the race next up. Well we have another race. Which means we've got another post ratio. That's right check back. At the end of the weekend. Where i'll recap all of the austrian. "Now go out there and do it again now. Moving on to grow sundays podium. He said was like a victory. And i'd agree. He was fast. He avoided mistakes. He actually increased his lead in the championship. He did everything he needed to do. And more importantly he didn't falter mean if this was his bad race while he's still in pretty good shape now. Fabio says his goal for this weekend is to modify his writing style a little bit to suit the tires and the track. Maybe make things more efficient. Although he admits that he's thinking podium in this one more than maybe he should hang out with martine But another podium. I think would be a phenomenal effort and it would accomplish the goal of losing as little as possible eddie decidedly. Do khadi and now. Ktm track. I think he'll have more competition in this one. Because jack and petco aren't going to go away quietly this time around and he's going to have the ktm's to deal with as well so it's gonna be a hard race for him but again if he could just kind of hang with the guys in the top five or six. He's guaranteed to leave austria with the point lead and that is going to be big momentum boost going forward then the final rider on my favorite's list for this week brad bender. He had yet another phenomenal late race. Comeback last weekend starting sixteenth finishing fourth now. He said that last weekend the frontier was the source of his struggles. He couldn't lean on it and breaking without overheating it on at the end of race when he finally got some clean air cooled off the frontier allowed him to push a little bit harder and so he got into the top five but with that harder option metric tire available this week exactly the formula that works best for him and the bike brad instantly has a chance to get on the podium and qualified better for that matter to and based on what we saw last weekend if even starts somewhere in the first three rows even at the back of the first three rows he will easily be within striking distance of the podium. You know with. Miguel olivera clearly. Still struggling with an injured hand brad. Now take selena. Ktm and he is definitely capable of getting them on the box. So those are my favorites writers. I think have the best chance of finishing on the podium and competing for a win but there's some other writers. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for this weekend. That i think a pretty good chance of finishing somewhere in the top five area. They might even be able to make a play for the podium starting with johann zarco and even though he easily bested the factory to cadiz last sunday circuit just wasn't able to put things together like his teammate. And as a result he ended the race exactly where he started in six. Now the good news for this weekend is that he is capable of qualifying better than that six that he laid down race one and seeing another bike whim is definitely going to motivate him to go out and grabs zhijie gelinas attention himself just like corey. Martine did last week about his experience. I think should have helped him be a little bit stronger at the end of the last race and not get passed by bender so a little bit more hesitant about sarko than it was one week ago in. The same is true for mark marquess. He looked pretty racy before the red flag although he had already started to trail off a little bit before the rack but he really struggled a little bit more after the race was restarted and he looked a little bit out of control. The entire time. I mean mark is an aggressive writer but usually not that aggressive and it not only led to the well-publicized contact with allied spargo twice but he also made multiple mistakes that prevented him from making lasting headway through the field. Later in this one. I think once again that may be his mind was a bit more ambitious than his shoulder and his arm was capable of and that makes me nervous about his chances for race to but if he rides cleaner and smarter mark is capable of being near the front. For sure. i'm talking. Nakagomi quietly had an excellent race. Last weekend he started tenth finished fifth and just missed out on fourth in those final few turns courtesy of the flying brad bender. He definitely proved a steady hand. Can get honda a good result in austria which is kinda what i thought going into last weekend and maybe that confidence is going to propel him toward a similar result this weekend even if i think the competition from both outside honda am within is going to be stronger across the board but another top five finish for him will be really really good result going forward in the second half now. It's at this point in the show where we do. have to talk about. Maverick maverick fan. Y'all as and i know the steering. Gp was a disaster for him and he may or may not have simply given up pulling into the box after saying his dash was flashing pit lane lap after lap but the stall on the grid he said was due to a clutch replacement during the red flag. And starting from pit lane. I don't think he was gonna push all that hard to begin with. The chances of you know pedro cost triumphant. Run to the checkered flag nonexistent. But i will say this before. The red flag came out. He did have his best start of the season. And i don't think he looked as good as fabio quarrel but he did look capable of kind of hanging onto the back of that lead. Pack so i have a i call it guarded optimism for him in this race. That if you can get another good start that he can be in that top five or six area which would be a good result for him. I mean speaking of guys who either terrible race last week yell olivera much like his teammate. Brad bender also struggled with the frontier in this race. In fact it was the reason that he retired from the race. He said that his hand is actually healthy enough to have a good top ten performance on the bike and so now that he's gonna get the tire he's looking for. Then get the settings right. They get the feeling on that front sorted and if his hand is just a little bit better yeah he's totally capable of a top ten and maybe even better things than that but because we're not one hundred percent sure how the injury is going to affect them across an entire race because remember. He didn't make it the entire race because of that front tire. Then i have to play a pretty conservative with him and not necessarily assume that he's gonna make it up until the podium spots so those are the writers on my watch lists which means we have one more item of business to take care.

Instant is they gave us a really good picture. There was a there was a petro. Danny petrova taken. His stood looking away while there's flames burning in the background and it remained. Imagine if you've seen them on social media of the girls stand in front of a burning house smelling evil lake to the camera. Yeah very much the same picture. Yeah i think. I think the with will use that. Yeah well. I actually said to the author sport chat. We should use that but we thought we might leave about because you know salvadore just ended themselves. But it's yeah. They gave us a chuckle but salvador is broken his ankle. But he's okay. Otherwise you'll be back at silverstone and that's the main thing just back onto katie and briefly. Here's a sunday a writer so He needs to he needs to find his way on the qualified phillies finger. But not that he's not going fast enough. Of course. I just wanted your opinion on another thing. There was some controversy between marquez. Elitist bar grow was furious at mark williams more angry at the stewards marketing. Twice off at aleisha was raging. He thinks it should have been a penalty. Mock said well it's racing. I don't think aleisha as a case passionately it was a it was a hard move but i don't know i'm i'm fifty fifty on that one. I don't think it should have been a penalty as such. I'm not sure i agree. A hundred percent with a leash really. I'm not talking. That mart deserves a penalty. I'm just saying that the steelers shoots the problem. Yeah to do the job so if they have contributed considered that he's racing into then. Okay but maybe maybe they have. Yeah the problem is they. Don't communicate that the same way that because in formula one on i agree with allege in in the way that he says that because i mean i agree with alleged that the the the spinal is not probably a best moment the last two years but at the same time. I don't agree with him because by saying that he cannot say. I don't blame mark because his way of driving. Yeah i blame sixty westbound l. Well you a way you are suggesting. Yeah dan a penalty should be applied so in a way you are blaming mark you know what i mean so i to be the. He did say one thing i did. "And how qualifying has been his arch nemesis this season. I think there's only two races all year long that he started inside the top ten and watching once again. What he did in this race is just just reinforcement that. If brad bender could just simply figure out how to qualify well he would likely be doing the same exact things. We've seen out of miguel lavera before the break and miguel by the way was injured in this one. That's why he was really not that great all weekend long and brad proved it again. Today i mean he started sixteenth and he was ninth as late as lap. Sixteen in this race. And then he just comes blazing through the field in the final third getting by bo takenaka gami and johann zarco in the final few corners of the last lap to get an incredibly impressive fourth place. Finish after starting sixteen. They just need to figure out how to get him. On the first three rows of the grid and brad bender could make some big big waves over the second. Half of the season. Never talking nakagomi. Well i don't know maybe he's feeling a little bit of that. Pressure from iowa is increasingly more impressive performances. Emoto too but one way or the other taco was motivated and he was looking a lot more like he did in twenty twenty in this race then has so far in twenty twenty one and getting roughed up a bit by bender at the end was really his low misstep and talk a finally gets back into the top five for the first time since he res- was a really good race for him on the other end of the spectrum. I wanna talk about three writers who did little to help their chances on sunday. And they all happen to be on do kadi's starting with johann zarco who actually had a decent race and he was in a really good spot when jack miller went out to at least only finish one spot behind fabio quattro in this one but then he let to riders. Get by him in those final few corners on the last lap going from fourth to sixth. And you just you can't. You can't do that if you want to be in the championship against a guy who's been as fast as fabio quarrel has been all season long. You can't make those mistakes especially when you're chasing writer in the championship if you've got the buffer. Well okay you lost a couple of points. Come back the next day. You can kind of fix it. But here's arco is a good distance behind. He needs every single point he can get in those situations. You have to find a way to stay in front of two riders who you are better than and i know that's arguable. But based on the results we've seen the season zarko should have been able to best takenaka gami and brad bender instead. He lost out the both of them. That's really really bad way for him to end the race for petco back niamh. I mean when this first started before the red flag. He looked like he was going to be a contender and then he was simply flat in the second race. He never got anything going it all and he finished eleventh doing himself no favors. And then jack miller ma'am after leading the race early and then falling out of the podium spots. Jack was in the middle of a late race. Push to get by fabio coiro. Get back on the podium. Make up some points in the championship as well which would have been huge for himself. Amber johns arco too. Because it would have taken a couple of points away from coiro. And i really don't think showing mir would minded. That's so much either. But then he lost the front end in the stadium section with ten laps to go trying desperately to match the corner speed of the aha instead of being patient and relying on the dakotas real strength which was sectors one two and four. Don't try make it all happen in three if you don't got it in three right and instead of maybe getting on the podium or at least finishing fourth he missed out on at least thirteen points. Maybe even sixteen and because of that. He's now over seventy points out in the championship. He is perilously close to having his title. Bid for twenty twenty one come to an end as well before we finish up on the qadis by the way how about the droese finishing tenth in this race he got the last spot based on a track limits and fracture but still top ten for a guy who hasn't racing a couple of years. I think that's a good day. All things considered becoming background to. It wasn't a good day for them. Obviously they didn't accomplish what they set out to and yet she still had a smile on his face at the end of the day. Why is that well. Because i'm pretty damn sure. He was looking up at martine on the top. Step of that podium and thinking there's next factory rider that's the guy i'm going to go. Try to win a championship with if these other guys aren't going to step up for me. Because if mirrored one or even if somebody like johann zarco have one he was going to be pretty darn upset that his factory guys didn't step up to the challenge. But instead i think he was seeing the future up there and thinking you know what maybe not this year but maybe next year or the year after that because i got somebody. I can really really work with here so on the podium whore. Hey martine his first victory pray mac qadis first victory in modo. Gp and a fantastic display of talent from future contender show. Amir was second the ride height device and the result that came with it. I think definitely gives mir and suzuki a ton of forward momentum them running at the podium fabio quarrel he just keeps on going and this is just like a win for him in a champion like effort as well and in that championship while fabio of course still leads the way and he actually has a bigger lead believe it or not when he showed up in austria which is huge the margin now stands at forty points after johann arcos last lap. Struggles mirror gets couple back. He's now fifty one out while disappointing efforts for both factory riders. Lee petco back. Nine of fifty eight points. Back in jack. Miller wapping seventy two behind some more and more this fabio quattro arrows championship to lose..

"With the ktm fans cheering him on both olivera. An ktm won't just be looking for a podium. I think they're going to be looking for a victory. I'm and then the last rider on my favorite's list this week. Joann mir and suzuki is not going to garner a whole lot of attention coming into this weekend. But don't forget how impressive. Joe mir was here last season finishing second to andrea the video so embrace one and then he was just a tenth off the podium embraced to trailing that incredible battle between the top three riders for the win in fact austria was pretty much the place last season that jumpstarted mir's championship run. And even though he hasn't dominated yet this season he has been top writer the majority of the year and give him what we saw out of him in austria. The last time around mir may be a little bit of a dark horse in crowded field the challengers but if he uses that rewrite height device to qualify. Well i could totally see him using the stadium section and some corner speed to keep himself in the mix sunday afternoon so those are the favorites th riders. I think have the best shot at finishing on the podium but there are quite a few guys that could definitely jump up there and surprise. And i've got them on my watchlist finish in the top five area and maybe make a play for the podium or a little bit more in on that watchlist leading the way. Petco back nyum and you know it's a pretty wide open field right now in gp. When i say that a factory do coty rider. Who already has. Three podiums of the season is simply on the watchlist at one of the best. Do cod tracks around honestly. Petco could come out in school all of his teammates this weekend. I would not be surprised if he wins this race but while he's still completely outpacing everything he's ever done before a motor gp and looking like a legit factory rider in the process. He's also off just a touch from how he started the season and we didn't get to see petco here last year in austria because he was injured so a couple of question marks bump him down a notch for me but he did win here motive to a few years back so petco is still capable of making some waves at the rebel ring And i can't leave out the other coty rider. Who are hey martine. Although now we are getting down into some of the sleeper picks after that early season podium and guitar. martine of course got hurt and it's been very slow progression back. He retired from the race because he was simply too much pain. He was too injured to make it to the end. But now just like marc marquez. He's had five weeks to heal and he's coming to a track where he looked fantastic a year ago. Moto to winning the first race comfortably. And then battling down to the final term with marco becky the second event knowing the dakotas are going to be strong if he's feeling up to speed if he's feeling healthy martin could be a surprise candidate to land on the podium in this one. So don't count out any of the duke audi riders. Now would dig a little deeper here. We're talking nakagomi. Because marc marquez has definitely shown that the hondas. Ken hold their own in austria. But he's not the only honda rider. That's well here in know. We talked about a little earlier. Danny pedro supporting here. Cow crutch low finished fourth a few years back and if another honda. Rider is gonna step up to the challenge. In addition to marc marquez. I look for that rider to be nakagomi. He was sixth and seventh in the races here last year and while he's not gotten off to the strongest start the season with a chance to refocus some time off. He's going to be looking to get the second half off to a much faster. Start and hopefully in the process divert some of the attention that the honda browser paying right now. The i o gir- after his salamo to start onto him in the premier class and the two marauders. I want to talk about on the watchlist. The first one brad bender. He's another writer much like petco back. Ni- that could easily be on the favorites list. He finished fourth and eighth in last year's races here but remember he came from the back of the pack and both of those so he definitely has got the speed to get around here. He just needs a better qualifying effort. But that's something he struggled with all year long. He's only started inside the top ten twice all season. So much like this zucchini. It is critical for brad bender to do himself a bit of a favor on saturday but if he can then he'll be in prime position to try to out duel his factory. Teammate be the rider that brings another hometown victory. and then the last ryder. That's on my watch list. For this week. Valentino rossi. And i put him on this list before we heard the announcement all right and i know he's had a terrible season but some time to rest some time to refocus and now knowing that this is the last time he's going to be at all of these tracks. Maybe that spurs on the doctor to better performance maybe that encourages yamaha to give him something a little bit extra to try to help him get back on the podium and as recently as last year. Valentino is a top five ryder here along with a fourth in two thousand nineteen. That's something he's done twice and he's never finished outside the top ten at the red bull ring so we'll see if a few weeks off can provide the boost for the old man stave off age and impending retirement and maybe get him a performance that we can all get excited about. So that's the watchlist and that brings us to the final order of business for the day the picks now we already talked about the fact that there's only one rider on the grid. That's everyone here before martin marquez question-mark yamaha here kind of a question. Mark performance wise. And when it comes to the cadi riders. Yeah they'll be good but all four of them are potentially going to be good. It's near impossible to pick this race. But i'm going to try to do it anyway. So here we go my top five for this. Weekend's styrian gp at the rebel ring and austria and theft going with johann zarco. Looking to make up for last season. I expect sarko to be extra motivated and his experience should help. Keep him in the mix. But it's going to be a really crowded field. So i've got him at number five in fourth place mark marquess. He's had so many awesome battles here and only a question about his shoulder keeps him off the podium for me. But if he shows up looking healthy with the other riders better watch out because he could be much further up the list than this fourth-place finish sufferings us to the podium in third. i'm gonna go with fabio quad charro. You might take a week for fabio to figure out how to successfully counter the dakota riders. But he's just so fast this season that even just okay day could end up still being a podium finish. I'm going to be a little bit bullish on bobbio and put him in third and that brings us to the top two and man. I hope we get a shootout between these two riders. It would be so epic in so much fun in second. I'm going to go with miguel olivera. He's been spectacular. Ever since he got the new chassis. And i don't expect that to end at a place where he's already scored a victory and it's his team's home turf so look for an excellent effort and an excellent result from miguel but in the end i think after an incredible dual he'll get busted in the final corner.

"Factory bike this same type of stuff as fabio guerraro. So whether it's the tires or his age or his mental approach. It doesn't really matter the bike. Ken win races. But it's just not coming anywhere close to happening for. Valentino will continue willie retire. I don't know quite yet. Although i think that retirement is the most likely scenario one way or the other. I'm hoping that ross. He can improve his performance over the second half of the season and it would be very nice to see him be able to give himself an his fans that two hundred career podium as a potential going away present in case he does not come back in twenty twenty two. So as you see there. Even though yamaha is leading the constructor's standings it's certainly isn't just all sunshine and rainbows for the top team in the sport. And when i say top team the sport i am using little finger quotes. So let's move on from first place down to third and next up we're gonna talk about ktm and this has really been a tale of two seasons for ktm pre chassis update and post and the effect of that new frame has been dramatic especially for miguel avera who has emerged as one of the hottest drivers on the grid over the last four rounds the austrian engineers deserve a ton of credit here as does their test rider. Danny padro so they've done a fantastic job. And let's face a case him got caught flat-footed by michelin's tire changes to start the season with their propensity now for asymmetrical offerings just were not getting along with that bike. But ktm worked very hard to overcome the deficit within innovative. Construction method. their three d. printing. Their frames out of steel so they could control material thickness inflex in different parts of the frame and so far. It's worked out brilliantly. You know there was some discussion. After jello that that was simply a mirage it was simply a product of more favorable tire offerings because there was a standard tire available in that race that was in the proper range to go out on track with the kt improved that their gains were more than just luck. In the rounds. That have come since then. So the change of chassis has certainly resulted in a change of fortune to go along with it. When that i think will continue on into the second half of the season and with that. Let's talk about their lead rider. Beguel olivera and the ktm turnaround. Like i said a moment ago has had the greatest effect for me. Gal i mean after breaking through last season with a pair victories. olivera is continuing his upward trajectory. This season already with a win and three podiums. All of course coming after the chassis change in fact if you look at his numbers it is incredible. How drastic. This turnaround was his average finish in the first four races. Thirteen point seven five not even in the top twelve then. He had the dfm france where i believe ktm did have the new frame but they couldn't use it the full effect because of the weather then in the four races after that starting at mugello heading into the break his average. Finish two point five. That's the type of difference that this new frame has had for olivera first four races without it. Thirteen point seven five. The last four races with two point five including victory and three podiums. He's riding with confidence right now and rapidly developing into that number one rider that they lost over the off. Season impulse spago so much. So that like we talked about last week yamaha came calling for potential factory ride next season. Of course. that's not gonna happen now. I don't know if that two point. Five average from the previous four races going carry through the entire second half. But i am very confident that there are more podiums. Miguel oliveras future. And i will not be surprised at all by another victory. Maybe even two. He's seventy one points behind. Fabio quattro yaro and that is a lot to make up especially considering the way the fabio is riding right now so i look at me gal as the type of writer who can influence the outcome of this year's championship as opposed to being a major player for the championship. But you never know mean. He's writing every bit as good as fabio and if quattro rochat tail off a little bit he could be there to take up some of that slack and move into one of those top spots now. Brad bender is a bit more interesting of a case when it comes to i four races and these last four races heading into the break. Bread did a far better job of managing the situation at the beginning of the season. That miguel did brad have multiple top ten finishes when miguel was like i said floundering outside the top twelve but his boost with the latest version of the bike hasn't been nearly as drastic just a position or two of improvement overall. His season long average is in the same place as olivera e point. Six for brad bender. Miguel's eight point one two. But we're miguel really took off. Since mugello benders average has only improved one spot for eight point six to seven point two five so a little over a spot. The main reason for that though is qualifying. That's been by far the biggest issue for brad this year. He's only started two races all season long inside the top ten and he finished both of those races in the top ten as well. The flip side is that he's had a couple of races where he's been able to make up a ton of positions after qualifying incredibly poorly. So i think the potential is there for him to run in the same class as miguel olivera all he really needs to do. Of course you can put this in your pocket and take it back out again. When we talk about suzuki next week. All brad bender needs to do is qualified better and that fact isn't lost on him. I mean he specifically mentioned that his goal in the second half of the year is to start closer the front and if he can. There's no question that there are podiums in his future and he might even be able to get to the top step of the box again as well. Now we move onto the tech. Three riders will start within aleppo chee who is unfortunately in a very similar position to where he found himself last season very likely already on his farewell tour with the bike before he's even gotten to the halfway point of the year and it's not guaranteed announcement has been made and we still don't know one hundred percent what's going to happen with his seat because the guy most likely to take it. Roll fernandez at this. Point is still saying that. He's going to stay motivated to next season. But the thing is danilo isn't really doing very much at all to keep raul fernandez emoto to and to force him to stick to that plan danilo has been slow to adjust to the ktm and as a result he's racked up three d. nfc and an average finish of twelve point. One over the first name races of the season and for writer. That's fighting for his future. That's not really gonna convince a manufacture that your offering them something daddy. Younger moto to rider enroll fernandez. Can i mean. Fernandez can go out there and finished twelfth right but have a lot more upside and a lot more future potential than danilo. Petrucci can finishing in that same spot. Now danila says he's gotten calls from a couple of world superbike teams and that may very well be the route to go for him especially since he's insisting that the ktm is built for a smaller rider and let's face it the fact that he's even saying that doesn't really bode very well for a second half jump in results but what danila should do is he should focus on getting consistently into the top ten if for no other reason to increase his options wherever they may lie and to maximize the possibility that he could remain on the motor gp grid next year. Even though the chances are still small. I'm and then the final is equal. He knows exactly where he's going to be next year in the rare position of moving back from moto. Gp to motoo and doing so willingly and still under the banner of rebulk atm and that certainly is the best route for him to take like last year. He's struggled to find a lot of consistency. He has three..

"Now there is always an exception to the rule. And to- proc could very well be that exception. If i were yamaha i would give it a try. I mean they could always make a deal where he comes to petronas for one year and if he doesn't like it then he can go straight back to world superbike. They'll save a seat forum. I mean because he's in house. There are many different ways they could structure the deal to make it work best for him and i think it's worth pursuing it selfishly. I want it to happen. Because i just think it's fun to say 'to proc road scott leo glue on a regular basis Another writer whose name was kicked around immediately after the rumors came out on. Saturday is another world superbike guy and one that was currently filling in for franken morbidelli last weekend and asset. That's the american garrett girl off and his name very likely will be on the list because after all he's been yamaha's goto over the past five or six months when it comes to a film writer he was gonna fill in for valentine rossy. Didn't need to in the end. But then he filled in for franken morbidelli. will that translate straight to a motor. Gp gig well. I'm not really sure. And i don't think that's going to happen with the factory team. I think possibly with petronas if frankie moves up mean obviously there's potential there or else yamaha wouldn't be giving him these opportunities. He's really been digging hard and trying to learn. In the limited time he's had on a motor. Gp bike and i think that door no would kick him resources to help make it happen to help facilitate in one way or another because it's very important to them to have a us rider on the grid. And so if there's somebody who has the talent level like eric girl loft does then. I think that they would help encourage and help move that long. I would love to see this. That's a bit of a home or comment on my part. But i will admit that there is a pretty long line of other candidates in front of garett girl off so i'm not gonna hold my breath at this point just going to be hopeful that it's somebody that yamaha seriously considers. There are some other writers though that may seem a little bit unconventional at first. Those riders guys like calcutt low current yamaha test rider. Or how about andrea david. Co so now over them read it. Diogo sewri posted a linked to an article mentioning v as a possibility for yamaha. And i'm gonna go ahead and lump cal. Crutch slow into this discussion as well and you know with a bevy of young talent out there. Some of which we've already mentioned. It would be very easy to dismiss both of those riders. But i wouldn't entirely mean as jug bridge replied to diogo. There are some reasons. The yamaha may choose to go the route of the old guy or bringing the old guy back because remember next year is silly season market is going to be way bigger than this one. A lot of riders coming off a two year contracts next year so a veteran like cal or dobie could fill the spot nicely for yamaha and a pinch and then they could turn it around and use it to their advantage and make that seat more about development. That's easy to do when you've got a guy like fabio on the other side of the garage going after wins and a championship Cal would put a british rider back on the grid just like garrett girl off that something that dorner would get behind because they want a british rider back on the greatest like they want a. Us rider on the grid and dovy would give them a very popular very marketable writer and they can have a bit of a reunion to close out his career. So yeah i by the rumors with dovy that at least there's some thought that's going on there because i honestly don't think either one of those guys are that far fetched but only only as a stopgap one year solution and even with a temporary move like that. Yeah you gain options in the next silly season cycle. But like miller's tasker was saying earlier you also vastly increase your chances that you drive away. Franken morbidelli because of it and you need to be prepared for that. You need to have a real game plan if you're going to do that now. Ultimately i think that racing armchair is right going with an older rider. Light cow like dovy doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Although i would add unless there is something specific that yamaha things they could gain from that one season whether it be in development sense. Or maybe you know. They think they can get joe amir or alex. Rinse or somebody like that. If they just wait one more season otherwise yeah move on get a young rider somebody in there to either push fabio and challenge him or it'd be ready to step up if there's a stumble on fabulous us part and on a bit of a side note since we're talking about andrea video so a little bit here tattoo driven asked if dole the ultimately made the right decision dragging his feet with appropriate therefore opening the door the maverick and maybe encouraging him to go explore some other options. I don't know. I don't know if he did himself a favour or not because probably it was clearly his best shot to return to the motor. Gp grid. They absolutely wanted him for next season before they knew that maverick was available. So i think that andrea reduces his chances significantly overall of getting back on the grid but if he had some conversations with yamaha that we are privy to. Well then maybe. He's being slide like a fox. Maybe he was being coy with apprecia- because he knew the maverick was about to quit and that probably will really want him and then maybe he would encourage appropriate against him so he can slide in behind. Maybe take the petronas seat or the factory. Yamaha seat for twenty twenty two. I know i'm stretched ended out there pretty far. But he got to explore every option in a weird situation like this. And then mr t. Brought up one more ryder. I had honestly not considered yet. What about me lavera. I know i mentioned him earlier. He's not yet signed off his current one year. Deal like brad bender already did. Could he be on the radar. And that's a genuinely intriguing idea..

"Gp that's not really all that surprising of note matteo baiocco. I hope i said his name. Right was the test rider for filling in for allie spargo. Who still recovering from that semi problematic arm pump surgery. He had a few weeks back now when we look at the time chart here the same. Disclaimer applies whenever we have a test. You can't always read too much into single app times especially in a one day test like this because everybody has a different agenda for what they wanted to accomplish. And not all of those goals necessarily include going out there and making time attack now as we look at the manufacturer's suzuki do coty and apprecia- while they were the most boring participants in this test focusing mainly on settings and consistency so once again for another one day test just like they did back in says do county doesn't bring anything wild and crazy but that's okay because ktm made up for everyone in the cool new stuff department by showing up with a lot of toys to play with the factory guys rolled out a preliminary version of what's being referred to as the twenty twenty two bike the factory riders. Were calling it a prototype for next year that bycatch a revised chassis or vice swing arm and tail section as well as a new exhaust. But we don't know anything about what was under the ferrings. Whether there was a new engine they were playing with were if they were testing all of the new stuff with their existing engine and nobody was really saying much more than what the parts were. Look forward to next season and then on top of that miguel. Olivera did add that there were a few different configurations of frame and swing arm that they tested as well tech three got in on the fun to with both danilo petrucci Getting their first shot at the new frame. That miguel and brad have run the past few rounds to massively increase success. Although danilo said that his improvement with a new chassis was only minor because according to danilo most of his current issues really have to deal with his size and weight transferring too much onto the rear tire and causing rear grip issues. And that makes sense. I mean presumably chassis designed in conjunction with the very smart flight danny petrosa and then tweaked for ideal implementation by the still pretty small olivera and bender would probably still need further tweaking for a rider. The size of danilo petrucci not gonna go into what that means for him going forward with ktm but that does make sense that the fray may not magically change things for him the way it seemed to for both brad bender miguel olivera but with all of that twenty twenty two bike tech three riders. Getting the first shot at the current new frame. None of that on the ktm front was the interesting part. The interesting part with the new era. Bits debuted by the austrian factory in a throwback to her. Hey lorenzo circa two thousand thirteen at phillip island or and early nineties honda. Cpr ktm literally showed up with some plastic or carbon fiber for that matter full of holes. A lot of holes all the way down the leading edge of the faring. Now on top of that. Let's see here. The new bodywork also incorporated a scoop. It's very back of the faring. About halfway down right around the rider's knee angling air a little bit upwards towards the tail and then a scoop at the back of the faring all the way at the bottom now. I'm not exactly like the do coty. They've got that scoop now at the lower front portion of the faring for ktm. It's at the back. And that seems to be directing air to a swing arm that features a rear fender that actually extends down the sides of the arm itself at this point. You probably want to look at a picture. I'm describing it to keep up with all of these things that they've added They also had a tail. Section that was notably curved downward or the current ktm tail section is kind of flat and most manufacturers angle. There's up into a point a little bit and can junction with that. Downward curve of the retail section the seat had a very hard crease. The kind of formed a contoured scoop in the body itself that seem to channel air along the tail maybe working in conjunction with that scoop that sitting midway up the fairing and they appeared to have a more pronounced chin spoiler to and some gigantic scoops on the front brake rotor. I think that's it. I think i got all of it in there. Although i'm sure there's something that i miss book go look at the picture of that new aero kit that they debuted was enough bodywork to make even gee-gee delina proud now whether all of that new stuff worked or not well again. Nobody was really saying and they certainly weren't doing serious enough. Time attacks with those new bits to tip us off on the time sheet whether they were making big strides or not but it was all pretty wild and they were definitely the star of the task when it came to rolling out new stuff By comparison yamaha did have some new parts but they didn't seem very exciting side by side with ktm There was a carbon swing arm on offer for maverick fan. Y'all as something that yamaha's gone back and forth with multiple times as the tried to get the right formula for that part other than that. There wasn't anything terribly. Exciting going on with the outside valentine rossi and prakash morbidelli trying out some slotted brake rotors and i don't think they were the only ones i think there were a couple of teams that try out the new slotted brembos. Brake rotors bought from advocate. Least obviously the settings changes that they worked on. Maybe the swing arm. I know made some sort of difference with him topping the time she'd although take that with a grain of salt and let's be honest single app times aren't really what yamaha struggling with right now anyways evidenced by charo race pace is the big issue here especially when it comes to maverick and valentino now. Honda was the most active manufacturer in the session. In terms of time spent on track mark marquez ran eighty seven laps in this test. Coursey didn't expend too much energy on sunday. So i guess he had some leftover but one way or the other. That's great news for him..

phillip island Honda eighty valentine rossi one day next year miguel olivera prakash morbidelli sunday danilo seven laps allie spargo valentino yamaha early nineties Coursey one way three riders suzuki one day test
