Okay, this just into the W T o P newsroom. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan says he's been the target of an unemployment insurance fraud scheme, along with Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford and several members of his Cabinet. Hogan says the claims were immediately blocked and that an investigation is under way back in July, Hogan said the state had uncovered a massive scheme involving more than 47,000 fraudulent claims in the state, totaling About a half billion dollars. It has been a long year full of challenges. So what have we been Googling to get us through the pandemic? We talk about the most popular searches of the year with Molly Vanderburgh. She's Google search trends experts. Of course, we see Corona virus is a topic and a search trend. But we also see trends that are informed by what we had to do with how we had to adapt. So, for example, in the where to buy category we see trending searches like where to buy the PlayStation five is people get up for the holidays, but we also The where to buy toilet paper and where to buy face masks, which I don't think any of us could have anticipated. So I presume we were still searching for celebrities, especially while many of us were working from home. Who are the top two people that were searched for definitely still looking to stay entertained. So when it comes to celebrities across a couple of different categories, the top musical artist was Shakira because, of course, she had her blockbuster Super Bowl performance earlier in the year, and then the top trending actor was Tom Hanks. And a lot of people off course love him, No matter what year it is, But money followed along with his diagnosis with covert 19 earlier in the year. What is the most surprising search topic? Something you wouldn't have imagined. Seeing so many people look for in 2020 continue to be really fascinated by the 2020 food trends. So the top trending recipe was sour dough bread If you like me took part in the bread making crazy during the pandemic. That's definitely reflected here, but we also See different searches like Disney Charles and the Doubletree Cookie, which I think shows that people were really missing travel, and I don't think any of us would have expected that we had been spending so much time at home and trying out so many new things. What about the U. S election election results was the number one trending search in the U. S this year, which I think really showcases how much people wanted to stay up to date. With that news so far and away. Our top topic of the year did more people look up President Trump for Joe Biden. It's a really interesting question, and so with the trending list, we don't make an apples to apples comparison about most searched because that's a little bit of a different thing. However, What I can say is because Joe Biden didn't necessarily have the same degree of popularity last year is he did this year We see him trend really strongly and so you'll see him top knot on Lee are trending people list but also the list of trending politicians. The final thing I'll say is that I'm always really heartened to see how much people wanted Contribute and give back through the search trends. So, for example, we saw a lot of trends in the how to help category people were looking to support everything from the Australian fires and the relief efforts there to black lives matter to different efforts during coronavirus. We also saw similar trends and donations. And so it really shows me that despite all of the challenges of the year, people have so much empathy and really want to be able to give back where they can. "Mark Levin, and we've got plenty more to discuss. And I do want to hear from you coming up a bit, too, because we're now hearing that there's even further lockdowns and stay at home measures being contemplated and enforced. In fact, A curious statement from the governor of Maryland about how he's going to enforce his measures as well. Maybe we should start there with our next conversation because I bet she's got some pretty interesting things to say about that as well. Let's get right to it. Georgie gets right now. Kimberly place like she ran for Congress in Maryland. She did not win, but she made a huge impact in her race, and she's not going anywhere. For all the haters who want to get rid of Kimberly crazy. She's going nowhere and she joins us now It's good to speak with you our first conversation since the election. I'm sorry it didn't go your way. Thank you so much for having me and you're right. I'm not going anywhere. And then somebody people want me to you. But I will be staying right in the area and still combating the corruption office. Thank you so much for having me. Yeah, and I want to get to what you're doing in the organization. You're working within a minute, but I want to ask a couple of things. First of all, when we last spoke. It was pretty early on in your campaign. You were very busy leading up to election day, so we didn't We weren't able to touch base in those final months. But at the time you had not yet heard from Governor Larry Hogan. I had said he should be shoulder to shoulder with you as an exciting new Republican voice in Maryland, and he's the leading Republican in the state. Did you ever have any sort of relationship with the governor or his office to support your campaign? Kimberly? Not at all. And even after a Lauren Graham talked about hopefully the Governor Hogan reaching out to my campaign after the viral campaign ad, you know, some people from my camp actually reached out to his office on one of which they actually used to work for him at some point in time, and he would not close and call back. But we later found out that he's great, but he's with my opponent quite inhumane, and so was his. Or so is his lieutenant governor, Boyd Rutherford. So we then do at that point in time that we would not be having relationship with the governor at all. Not to mention we don't really think he's an actual Republican. But I guess that's a that's another conversation. Well, I mean, if he runs is a Republican guess whether he governs his Republican is certainly a legitimate challenging question. But You know, he is the leading Republican in the state. As long as the Republican Party is concerned, he ran as a Republican, and he's still sort of has quite a bit of influence and sway over the party. And you're telling me that this far as you're concerned, he wanted cuisine food, made a window seat. No, absolutely. And, you know, I questioned it to you because change Annapolis, which is a organization that basically helped him raise money and some other Republicans in the state. After Christ and boom they won the special election. They actually wrote his Facebook page congratulating him and I called it out and I called up. The guide I know has had a change Annapolis and he said, Oh, you know, it must have been a mistake and they would have is they deleted that comment afterwards, But Yeah, No, they got something going on there with each other. And it's disappointing because you know cuisine from eight stands for business as usual in the same old failed policies that have destroyed those neighborhoods that you famously struggled through there in Baltimore. And and certainly when the governor talks about good government policies and getting the government out of people's lives in trying to help people out. He talks a lot about the things you were talking about. I mean, on paper, you guys actually both say you agree with the same sort of things. That's why it's it's vexing to me. Right? Yeah. No, I mean, but I guess you actually speak a lot of the words right out on paper on paper. Yeah, exactly. Woman. Let's get to this latest, because, you know, I've been questioning and challenging. It should be pretty easy to get to the truth here, and that is did the state of Maryland need to spend the money that they spent taxpayer money to get those covert tests flown in from Korea? Why aren't they being employed? Why aren't they effective? And was the president right that if Larry Hogan had worked better with the Trump administration, he would have gotten those tests cheaper and more effectively and quicker on we saw blow up again this weekend. Where do you stand on this story? Kimberly place? Yeah. No, The president. Absolutely right. I just actually did a video for it. That is what happened. You know, he said 9.46 million taxpayer dollars on those for that. First back have to say first back to test from Korea turned out to be flawed. And I remember even asking, you know, where are the test? Because I love you recall. There was a point in time he brought in the 500,000 tests. They sat in a warehouse. Yeah, he's an evil left FEMA to access them. Why not allow themselves that they claim that we didn't have labs equipped to work with those tests because those tests were different than the ones that the U. S government was going toe? Supply. So we had all these labs that were designed for the American tests and wouldn't even work with the Korean test. Correct. And so we found out now, right? But that wasn't true. It was just they were flawed. But then he goes back to that same Korean dealer. And this is all through his wife, his wife, So people know she is from Korea, so she has his connections there. Go to the same Korean dealer and spent 2.5 million taxpayer dollars on more texts from the very same person that said from the flood cast. And so now he's got the second back. Come in. As supposedly allegedly, I go south. Say if he had had people at the airport, make sure they didn't take pictures. He wanted to come in..

You know, anytime negro has come up with a special concoction of get laying. I don't think we should give. Yeah. You have a point. Thank you, sir. So with respect to this issue in Virginia. I don't think people realize how significant this is this is a very big issue. And it's so significant that I'm all for the Justice brothers that being Sharpton Barbara Jackson. Getting people on buses and forcing this guy to resign. Walk with me for a minute. Imagine this guy resigning imagine Justin Fairfax, who's a great lawyer. Former federal prosecutor. Ascending to the governorship. Boyd Rutherford becoming an ex governor of Maryland. So within DC Maryland. Virginia. You have a Marian black Mary DC, potentially. Well, we at one now but down the road. You would have a black governor in Maryland, you'd have a black governor in Virginia. I think that's huge. Very curious for shot that even after the Hillary Rodham Clinton has come out NAFTA Scott to step down. You gotta be very bad for someone like Hillary to say, you should you should step down. But I'm very curious as to why the king of the Democratic Party when Barack Hussein Obama has been silent on us. I think that if there's anybody who can move this guy to resign. Is the king of the Democratic Party? So I know that you have positive associations with former President Obama, crab you and the Justice brothers can reach out to them and say, hey, we gotta get. You know, presidents are very selective typically about who they tell to resign. And the reason why is because former presidents have a very heavy weight as relates to their word. I think if this governor does not resign. You were here President Barack Obama opined on the matter, then maybe maybe this week because according to the reports were hearing he will meet with his cabinet governor Northam, and he will assess if his cabinet has faith or confidence in him to serve as leader of the state, and he will make a decision after that. You know, what you raise you raise an excellent point that I didn't raise earlier this is the importance of having blacks in state legislatures because if the quote unquote, Virginia congressional caucus Fullerton purposes, it's black legislative come out and say, hey, the letters. Hey, we need you out of here. Right hit alone. I gotta give the Democrats some credit. You've had a long list of Democrats say this guy. Let's go from Hillary riding on up a lot of people that say that. And I think the Democrats around the country needs to really get on this because when something affects your quote unquote party, then you gotta speak. You gotta speak up. Can I tell you who has not jumped on the he must go bandwagon. I'm very disappointed in was that Senator Tim Kaine out of Virginia. Senator Tim Kaine who was the vice presidential running mate of Hillary Clinton. That's right. Did not as a matter of fact, he said governor north of needs to reflect on his behaviour. That's what he said. Okay. It's crazy. He has not called for the guy to step down here. Yeah. Which is which is sorry and Perry McCullough, we need to check and see if he said anything, but he's close to Hillary rotten as well. Now, what are the point in this kind of del second into something that he probably loose? And she was right about it. Just as much as we are outraged by this racist governor, we should also be outraged by the fact that he's a notorious baby killer in in terms of the policy that he's he's promoting. But that's another reason why the Justice brothers barber shopping and Jackson to get people on buses down. I mean when you wanna you wanna issue, that's like a softball? Knock it out of the park. This is one of those issues, and the very fact that this guy still in office, it it'd beyond me. But I'm just thinking about the future. This is a great power move for black people. I hope he gets out. I hope Fairfax gets the all right. Thank you. I appreciate your call four zero four eight nine two two seven zero three. Jane rights or Jana rights. I think ceelo was talking about those who had issue with his cO being big boys for code that was the hot topic about his performance. He just didn't articulate it. Well, what Madam not for big not for? What was saying about big? Boy, he was talking about the actual performance. Not the.

"Matori, I'm filling in for Bruce Elliott this morning and Monday. Thank you so much for checking in I didn't even know if. Be nice to meet at any Hugh. Thank you off for tuning in. Again. I'm Liz Matori. Some of you may know me you might be one of the amazing seventy seven thousand seventy seven thousand people who voted for me for the second congressional district race. We just had or maybe two years ago. You voted for me when I ran into strict eight either way, I am very very excited to connect with you today. Yeah. A little bit about me. So you know that I'm not just this random person. I was a I guess I'm the most visible defector of the Democratic Party as a four years ago. I was a very active liberal. I wasn't quite progressive. I didn't quite get that far. But. You know, I had Ryan I delegate four years ago. I was a field organizer for the Democratic Party. And a lot of people ask how how did you come a Republican? Let's be honest. I never ever ever ever ever ever thought that I'd become a Republican? I never even thought about leaving the Democratic Party. But when you see sort of how sausages made things start, you know. Coming to fruition. So I think if anything when I'm really excited about is getting more people inspired to open their eyes and open their hearts and open their minds to becoming liberated like, I am I feel like a very liberated individual. Very passionate patriot. Now that I have have been able to do what I have done. So let's see this catharsis cathartic experience has been rather emotional. Some people have seen my bouts of emotion over these last two three years on Facebook. I have shared I've been very public about what has happened. It's not very easy to be a black conservative. It's not very comfortable to be a vocal conservative women, for example. But do I think that it's all this is worth it. Absolutely. I do think that more of us either need to leave the Democratic Party. I don't even know if I'm allowed to say that on radio, but at the very least know that there are wonderful people on the other side. And maybe there's something that can be said for you know, why things are as as bad as they are. So really quickly. I went to the inauguration on Wednesday of our governor and funnily enough for years ago. I was at PwC. Governor HOGAN won all of us were heartbroken internet. Heartbreak fit. Y'all felt some of you felt maybe not you listeners. But the other people who aren't listening to this show felt when Hillary Clinton had lost two years ago we had already felt that four years ago. And Anthony Brown and omen lost their races. We worked really really really really really hard to get them elected. But of course, you listeners got Larry HOGAN and Boyd Rutherford. To win which is great. So being on that side of things. And then and then being here now has been amazing. And so when I was there at the inauguration today, I was like listening in and I was excited to be there. But then I was like but little reserve because I felt like it just the energy was slightly different than even during the campaign. And so I am I'm still a HOGAN supporter. I want to remain a HOGAN supporter, but you know, let's be honest. Most Republicans are most conservatives in the state in this country are also Trump supporters. So that's the problem or the dilemma that we face as conservatives. We can be HOGAN supporters, can we can be Trump supporters. But I felt like there's more and more of a push for people to even make us pick aside. And so I'm like, well, you know, the Republican party or the conservatives here in Maryland were already like a. We're the minority. And so, you know, like, well, why don't you kind of consider that? There are certain things that we stand for. And we are proud of. And you can be our governor. But you can also. Okay. This is a cool. The first caller..

"I guess the president. With them. Afraid to say so because I if I agree and think they're doing something. Right. I'll I'll say so. And if I disagree, of course, I'll say that as well. But we've worked very well with the administration, and I am happy to point that out when they're doing good things. And I I think that's every American and every Republicans responsibility that if I if he deserves criticism and he's not doing what we do. We should tell them. So here's my my my gentle challenge to you governor HOGAN because you know, you know, nothing, but respect your your fellow Larry. When you came out along with mayor bowser and governor north them to implore, the president to just acquiesce to Democrats in congress. Exactly what I said. Well, that's how it was so good. This is a good chance to report the record because to me as a Republican. I want the partial government shutdown to be done. So I would like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to resolve the five million dollars to build the barrier on the southern border. That's the resolution, isn't it? Look, I m e there's not a black or white situation. I think there's plenty of blame to go around on both sides. What is what I'm critical of is the dysfunction in Washington. I'm a hundred percent in favor of increased security at the border. I think the Democrats are absolutely wrong to stand in the way of trying to do something about protecting the border. But I don't think I also think the president is wrong to punish eight hundred thousand federal government workers as a hundred and forty seven thousand of which live in my state who are hard working folks that are trying to you know, go to work. Every day and do their jobs that don't have anything to do with the border. And I don't know why we can't separate the issues. Yes. The Democrats should not be obstructionist. They should work together with the administration and with the Republicans to try to finally figure out a solution to border security and to immigration reform, which they've never been able to do and the presidential figure out a way to try to work with the Democrats to get get the government back open again because it's hurting real people. So I wasn't picking sides in the fight. And I wasn't trying to blame anybody. I'm just trying to say what I'm saying is separate the issues. I I it's it's plenty of blame to go around. I don't have the magic solution. But I think both sides not listening both sides pointing blame at the other ones, and nobody trying to work it out as a prop governor Larry HOGAN is our guest in there. There is a governor HOGAN another statewide elected official in Maryland who just goes out of his way to pick fights with the administration spends most of his time suing the Trump administration instead of. Focusing on Maryland. That's our attorney general Brian fresh. What can you do about this guy? You're the governor. Can't you like get cut his budget or something? Well, you know, that's that's an excellent question. But I happen to agree with your assessment of that. And I think a lot of Marylanders do the legislature actually believe it or not changed. The the the law for the first time change, the powers of the attorney general for the first time since the civil war in order to allow him to sue the federal government as many times as they want without having to have the approval of the governor. And he's obsessed with it. Now giving him that power and he's drunk with it. So he I don't know how many times it's I think twenty or thirty different times. He sued the administration. Now, I'm not saying that the attorney general he's an independently elected constitutional officers. So the the voters in Maryland elected him to that position has certain responsibilities. But I agree. I'd like to see him spend a whole lot more time focused on Maryland issues, like the one we're talking about fighting the violent crime in our state. Rather than playing politics in Washington. A couple more questions here. Again, I want to remind everyone seventy seven percent approval rating, you are the most popular governor in the country, and it's twenty twenty you got your election behind you. Excuse me, twenty eighteen twenty nine hundred twenty twenty it's gonna be well, here's the thing. I'm getting ahead of my question. You know, what's going to happen here? Governor HOGAN, you're getting a lot of good press. You're getting a lot of a lot of people in the meteors saying, oh, here's a Republican. We can embrace and he's popular in a blue state. And you know that the Republican establishment they want somebody to primary President Trump. Will you right now say that this absolutely will not happen? You may run for higher office in the future. But you're not gonna primary the president in two thousand twenty looked. We don't even know if the president's gonna run in twenty twenty how do you? I mean, look let me get sworn in as governor next week. I just got reelected, but I have no idea what's going to happen. Two years from now. And neither do you. Are you practicing your dance steps before the inaugural ball here is that they never, but what if you come to the inaugural ball. I can promise you can we'll get you a crab cake. Tell you, you know, I don't know if you've been up on the news, but my daughter just got an appointment to the naval academy. So I'm going to be spending more time in Annapolis. C you better. You know, you're gonna make it pay off on some of these promises. I keep telling you have an open invitation that we could have all the crabcakes you can eat you never take me up on your right? So you don't you don't want to talk about your political future? I have no plans at this time for Ryan at this time absolutely rule out any talking to be like a politician now. Primary. Trump did I mean, we don't even know who's going to be running for office on either side twenty two years from now the headline is governor HOGAN does not rule out primary Trump, you know, how this works. And all right. Let me ask you this. While Trump doesn't rule out primary and HOGAN. I don't think he wants to be governor. Let me ask you this one final question because people are gonna start lining up. This is how it works. You know, we got term limits. This is your last term as governor that's about to begin five days from now that means the day the moment, you take your hand off the bible after being sworn in the, you know, the run for Maryland governor is starts did actually started the day after the election year, Lieutenant governor Boyd Rutherford. I mean, he's doing a great job. He is a fantastic man of the state government. He has worked in the state government at so many levels you understands how it works. He doesn't seem to be sort of the the big polit political type who wants to run statewide as the governor. At least he's not projecting himself that way. But can you get in his ear? Can you put a bug in his ear and say boy, you're the guy man, I want you to be my natural successor. It'll make things a lot easier. You know, we've got a little time to work on them. You know, I'm not quite leaving yet efforts to try to get out early. Oh, oh, yeah. It's me. Please governor HOGAN primary President Trump. Hopefully, maybe I'll stick around for a little while. But, but yeah, I think he's you know, he's he's been an excellent Lieutenant governor and a partner in all of our success. And I think he he would make a great governor. And one of the things that is so good about him. And makes it would make them so great as these not a political animal, right? Doesn't have this great desire to be a politician. But he's just an effective. You know, terrific guy who who's kind of a policy wonk and a and a good government guy who knows how to run things. And and that that that's what that's what makes them good. I absolutely agree. I just wish he was more of a politician. Sometimes, you know, I was never a politician. I was a small business. So maybe he'll he'll look how you've changed with dancing around every answer last one. I did promise I wanted to come back to education. I know we only have about a minute left with all the reforms you put in place in Annapolis and all the good intentions you've seen what happened specifically here in Prince George's county, there's just so much you can do, but we still have. Issues at the local level odd. What can you do to be more proactive about fixing things like the Prince George's county school district and getting the state involved because I feel horrible for the students stuck in that district, and you can do everything you can. But if we have ineffective leadership, then we're stuck. Well, here's the good news. We first of all we're we're pushing for more accountability in the local school systems that I think we're going to be successful in this legislative session. But we already we already appointed a an accountability manager at the state level to oversee some of these problems, we have the state school board that already completed two investigations into Prince George's county and found wrongdoing found the great fixing scandals which are being corrected. They got rid of the we have a new county executive who I have confidence in whoever good relationship with she she's focused on the problem. We have a new school board. Chairman. We have a new school superintendent, they're taking it seriously. They seem to be. Working well with the state superintendent in in the state board of education, and I think we're working to correct the problems. But you're right. These kids were being cheated. It was a terrible situation. I'm fighting back with the legislature to say, yes, I want to provide even more funding record funding for the schools for the fifth year in a row, but I wanna make sure we have accountability. So that the make sure the dollars are being spent and that we're holding these local school systems accountable. This state tactile, that's the Larry HOGAN who ran for governor not every issue is solved by throwing money at it. You got to actually fix the problem? Governor HOGAN, good luck with the inauguration next week. I'll be looking for the invitation to the ball in the mail. You are my guests at.

"All right. The WMA diner court continues this Friday expectations and Leesburg will be having the shell live from there. Come out and join us. And one of the conversations we've been having in local politics as we talked about it last week in Silver Spring vacations. We got a chance to talk to the governor of Maryland Boyd Rutherford, and it was great to see him a lot of fun. And we'll be speaking to the governor Maryland soon Larry HOGAN. Coming up on an forthcoming edition of mornings on the mall. And one of the things I want to ask him about is the top democrat in Montgomery County, Ike Leggett who has basically sat out the election. We had the the Montgomery County executive get on with us before. And we chatted about he's a democrat, obviously. And I asked him, you know, are you going to endorse here? And is there any chance that you would endorse? Larry hogan. Because it was really bizarre. That's such a well-known democrat in the state was not endorsing Ben jealous. His reasons for withholding his endorsement of Ben jealous included. Look Montgomery County is like one of the wealthiest counties in the entire country. The last thing we need to do is raise taxes again on Montgomery County residents, and you know, it's bad for Democrats. And he's concerned that. In. So many words Ben jealous is socialism would be too expensive for Maryland and taxes would therefore have to be raised. And that's why he was withholding his support. Also. Montgomery County is pretty happy with Larry HOGAN Montgomery is done better under Larry HOGAN, the state of Maryland has done better under Larry HOGAN. And I I get as close considers him a friend and has been basically withholding his endorsement and said he had only he had no intention. He told us at the time. This is a couple months ago. Now, he told us he had no intention of endorsing the Republican. So he's not gonna endorse HOGAN, despite the fact that he likes him better. And he seems to be better for Montgomery County that Ben jealous. Well, that's all changed. Over the weekend. I it has now endorsed Ben jealous. This news coming to us this weekend. But he says he won't campaign against HOGAN. So he's still it's kind of a weird thing. He wants it. Both ways jealous getting his tail whipped hair. He's losing twenty points by twenty points right now to Larry HOGAN eyeglass gets endorsing jealous, but won't actually campaign for them. Can I just say the most important thing lost in that story? And and you mentioned it. But with the most important thing in that story is there are Democrats in Maryland who are realizing that even socialism is a little bit too expensive so much that that to me is is the important part of this story. There are people in in Maryland right now, going wait. What? Well, this is the weird thing is I thought. Okay. Well, there must be a really compelling reason for us to do this. And this is what the Washington Post says about his decision. Listen to this legged said he decided to endorse after numerous discussions with Jellison his running mate Suzy Turnbull about the candidate's stances on the issues of school funding, bringing Amazon's next headquarters to Montgomery County and taxes, then the next graph says this he said that although jealous is quote, still evaluating on the tax things. The candidate has softened his position on school funding formulas and has indicated he will honor any deal the state negotiates to land Amazon. Okay. So he's happy with jealous apparently being happy. Okay. With whatever the state negotiated on Amazon bringing them to Montgomery County, but the tax thing which is the thing that I like it is bar up. He's like I don't want him to raise taxes. He apparently is still a question Mark whether or not jealous will raise taxes, and we'll have to. To to pay for everything he wants to do for Maryland, which are against socialist programs regarding health, care and schools and everything. Well, I'm I don't understand what the disconnect is. Because all that's free. Right. So I don't understand how that's a problem when he what are you talking about taxes? It's all free. Yes. The rich people are going to be taxed. Billionaires in those are the people who are going to pay for it. And that's Montgomery County. No, they're not trillionaires. I'm trying to like lick Richard Branson who's gonna people who don't live in Maryland. Exactly HOGAN spokesman Scott Slough man told the post that legged support of jealous is quote. He's right. It's a halfhearted endorsement Bengals needs to explain to everyone. What positions he actually flip flop flip flopped on and what deals he caught in order to get legates endorsement, and that's true. He should explain. But jealousies campaign says he changed nothing campaigns. Like, no, we didn't change anything. I can this is Kevin Harris senior adviser to jealous. I can't explain why. Mr. Legat was ever confused about Ben's positions. But they haven't changed the Amazon deal was poorly negotiated tuition free. College is the right thing to do and schools everywhere should be fully funded, including Montgomery County, not at its expense. Those always were and still are our positions to the school should be fully funded in Montgomery County, but not at its expense of someone else is going to pay for it. We're back. Someone else is going to pay for it. It's all free, and you don't flip flop if you actually hold both positions. Yeah. We have no standards. Yeah. We didn't change we all both positions Tomase. Sponsored by the Reynolds team. Mary Walter Vince colonies good morning and joining us right now, Lieutenant governor Boyd Rutherford is with us. Thank you so much, sir. For stopping by. Here. Glad to be here. Thank you. So we were just talking before we came on the air here. I asked you how does it feel to be the Lieutenant governor for governor Larry HOGAN who right now is really popular one of the ten most popular governors in the country. He's. Jockey's between the Massachusetts Governor and. For one one and to know the Vermont, Vermont, okay. Yeah. Massachusetts is number one. Yeah. And I wanna say Larry Hogan's down there. Number three right now. Number three. I'm sorry behind Chris new. Hampshire. Okay. Work a little it's not hurt. Now. He's twenty points ahead, which is Ben jealous. And that's and that's you've got to feel good about that. I want to just begin with, you know, you've been Lieutenant governor. But it is usual Larry HOGAN gets all the attention. But let's talk to the Lieutenant governor. Let's find out about you. You are from originally from the district of Columbia grew up in DC. Born and reared in DC, you you know, you raised raised chickens, and you rear children is that how it works. And then from there, you become a democrat right at one point. You were a democrat. I started I think as an independent and realized in DC you can't vote you really don't get a vote. And if you're an independent or anything other than Democrats and Republicans in the district register as Democrats just so they can vote in the primary. And so I was a democrat for a number of years, and I changed..

"Joining us at seven fifteen John Walsh is with us. He's running for Maryland's eighth. Congressional district is seven thirty five. It is Craig wolf we've got Larry Michael blessed. The Redskins at seven forty five at eight. Oh five or cares with us an eight thirty five the Lieutenant governor Boyd Rutherford with us. I'm Mary Walter here. Bins colonies good morning. Republican actually become the Montgomery County executive. That's the question before us this morning as we talked to Robin thicker finally getting to see in person year, Robin. Really great to have you this morning. Thank you. Vince. A you know, we got term limits passed that was a vote for change not a vote to promote those who wanted to be on the council for life. That's right. And you got tax limits. And you also limit to tax increases. We got our unanimous recall. For the council to increase property taxes. More than the rate of inflation passed over the opposition of both of my Ben jealous term, limited tax increasing opponents, and that particular property tax limit into charter as saved the average homeowner over ten thousand dollars since it was well, that's a big deal. I just you mentioned your two opponents you've got Markelle rich and Nancy fluorine the beating each other up. I mean in the end you could hook shot your way right up to the top of this race. Thanks to to Democrats, essentially fighting each other on the side in a three way race, and you could come out looking golden here. Well, they were the two deciding votes for the unnecessary nine percent property tax increase, which we had very recently. They also voted for thirty percent increase in a real estate transfer tax. And then they also approved the one hundred and fifty six percent increase in the county. Residential energy tax, which they said was temporary and should have expired, but we still have today. Let me as a Montgomery County. Have the residents of Montgomery County, finally connected. Tax hikes Democrats. Well, there's no one else to connected to that doesn't mean that doesn't mean that they've condemn doesn't mean. They connected the dots. They're the only ones who've been in office and guaranteed if they get elected they're not going to be. I hope that everyone will know that their next tax hike will be the very first thing they announce once they're elected how much does Montgomery County change if you end up becoming the executive, well, there's going to be a cleaning of the house in Rockville. That's for sure because the county executive gets many appointments that I want to bring in a lot of thrifty forward-looking people where we can have freedom of freedom from excessive regulation freedom from guaranteed annual tax increases. Yeah, we need a fresh approach new ideas in Rockville, one of the things we often talk about his term limits. So I love the idea of term limits, and one of the things you said was the voters have spoken and rejected the record of the incumbents if if people voted for term limits, why don't. They vote incumbents out. I mean that would seem the easy thing to do if you don't if you don't want incumbents constantly being reelected, why don't voters do that. It seemed I don't know. I don't know if there's an answer to that. But you had to go with term limits is going to do that in this county executive race. And by the way, I call them either recumbents or incompetence because we we've got to get Montgomery County movie. We've been Tacoma part we've been Garrett park. I came down to seventy this morning. We need traffic relief. And we need to include that part from Montgomery village to Clarksburg in the present study, not the future study. We should have improved that ten years ago the biggest employer here in Tacoma park. Trapezoid where my two opponents live where all four at large county council candidates live where the where the council president lives where the district person lives. They have five votes here in Takoma park trapezoid, which has only. Four point one percent of Montgomery County, the biggest employer here, the discovery. Channels left town their neighbor has left town. They work in Rockville. We had five businesses close in Rockville in the last two weeks wherever they are businesses. Leave town I love that vote the incumbents. That's a great line of Robin. I want to can you characterize for us? You know, it's it's always good to talk to you. Because we've got a Republican in Montgomery County to speak with an a guy who's who's got actually got a shot here in this Montgomery County executive race, which is awesome. But at the same time wanna know what what it's like a Montgomery County. Can you characterize the conversations you've had with voters in the extent to which you feel like you have support in this race, the voters want change. They realized that people who've been in office for sixteen years can't possibly represent change. I went out to Amazon HQ one trying to find what they were like what they were looking. Yes. Yes. In order to get Amazon each cue to here, and they want freedom. They want freedom from regulation freedom from taxes. And I think that if Marquel Rick somehow gets in there. Amazon will never come to Montgomery County because hill impose a head tax of a thousand dollars and they've run away from the head tax employees head tax in Seattle of two hundred seventy five dollars. I think that head tax was a main move for us to get them to. Think about moving their headquarters h q two it's interesting that Amazon wants freedom, and they don't want to leave government regulations yet. They always support the Democrats, which I do find interesting one thing you were asked to rate the president on a scale of one to ten and you chose not to you said, I've never met. The man is Trump is an association with President Trump a hindrance or help in Montgomery County. Well, you know, I I don't think I don't think that he is an issue. I think the stock market has been doing very well, the issues are property taxes. The issues are gridlock on I seventy in the beltway. The issues are bringing jobs into Montgomery County. I've lived here all my life. And I've seen that for instance, in the last five years there've been fourteen thousand new businesses located in the Washington area. But only six in Montgomery County as those are the issues. No wonder everyone's is commuting Virginia. That's where the businesses are locating. We need to reverse. That people won't have to commute near as far if we have jobs here, the FBI new headquarters that was going to be a huge new employer somewhere other than in DC when they were talking about moving the headquarters, but Montgomery County didn't even make a bid to have the FBI headquarters in Montgomery County. They don't care about new jobs. Mr. L, Rick has never met a road that he liked. He wants us all to get on the bus that he never takes. That's true that usually happens though, with a lot of a lot of politicians either. They don't live where they in the area for which they make the loss have to live under those laws or else, for instance, like transportation, they don't take it. So it's it's a very interesting conundrum. Well, thank you so much. We appreciate you. Joining us and Robin thicker running for Montgomery County executive. Thank you, please. Please go on Robin delivers few dot com and see my video which now has about one hundred fifty thousand views Montgomery County record. Well, we appreciate it. And speaking of transportation, it's time for wwl traffic.
