"He was homicidal and had set booby traps around his property and and that he was a danger to her. Yes somehow it's a thousand miles away from you and somehow like wow what kind of guns this guy got like as he got. Icbm kind of explosives really is. Is that what we have here. Intercontinental ballistic missiles. Is that the sort of things that your ex has trained on you as a sidebar since you brought up intercontinental ballistic missiles. There is a There's a drink that some folks call the irish car bomb If you ever go to an irish pub and one or two one of these just take out the word irish. Call the car bomb because they'll get upset with you a little bit understand you at any rate and that's just professional drinking advice from all the years that i spent heavy metal bands and drinking bars and stuff but i decided to make one of these at home one day. I didn't have guinness so normally the drink. It's a half pint of guinness a shot glass with a half shot of whiskey and you top it off with some irish cream. Some bailey's So the ingredients are supposed to be guinness. Jameson and bailey's specifically those specific brands of liquor in irish cream and beer. So i'm at home. I don't have any of those ingredients. But what i do have is an off brand stout. I've got not jameson irish whiskey. It was tullamore. Do i believe. And i had some. You know local brand irish cream. So i didn't have the ingredients to make an irish carbon more of a scottish firecracker now instead i called it the i e. d. It was the improvised explosive device. It's the exact same drank mind eurabia. It's just the brand names of the ingredients. They used were different. It had a slightly different days. Because you know that the flavors vary a little bit from brand to brand of the alcohol and the beers and that type of thing but anyone who drank it be like. Oh yeah that's exactly the same if you're not like a connoisseur. Think i've had that before i remember. You asked me in about it before and i said no when you said the name by do. Have the distinct memory of somebody giving me a shot where to hold my tongue kind of out to not let the little shock loss hits. Thanks will hit you in the face particularly if you do several of these the idea is that you pour the risk of the shot glass you top it with bailey's and then you pick up the shot glass and drop it in the half pint of guinness and then when you do you're supposed to pick it up and just chug the whole thing. So it's basically you're chugging. Half of the guinness has a very low content of alcohol by the way it kinda tastes like chocolate or like really delicious coffee when you do it. So it sneaks up on you. Do you know two or three of those. You're going to have a real good time or you're going to pass out well on the idea partly is since you are Sort of setting off the carbonation That increases the The rate at which it hits the surface area of your stomach. The carbonation makes the booze you quicker The same with The red bull one. What is it right. Bowling lake vodka. Will we that. It's another boy bomb right. It's like oh vegas bomb. I've never had one of those. it's like. There are several bombs in. They're all kind of the same thing there's one with Its jayme red bull. Yeah that's the biggest bomb is is jameson. The this tastes like licorice. We're talking tiger meister yeager and Right bullets i was heard. Those called bull meisters. Oh i have had something called angry balls. And this is an early and you drop a specifically specifically Angry orange orchard. And then you use a shot glass of firebaugh. It tastes like apple pie. It is really just so at any rate According to the constitute this is the from the article again. We wanted to wrap this up about this raid. "Mentioned quite a quite often. Don't just identify a problem. Come up with the solution The book goes some way towards that are are you getting any response from 'cause i think it it response doesn't need to come from me. It needs to come from young men. Right right yeah. You book needs to get in the hands of twenty something so even teenagers right or my target audience you know it was written for those young men who may not have had a mentor may not have had a scoutmaster may not have had a coach enter sitting there struggling and and you know they're angry that the robert louis offer told you about so he. He had an upbringing kind of similar to yours. I heard your story and you know. His father was alcohol. If you know just completely checked out in the you know this guy. He was an eighth grader. He goes out the football team and you know they asked him. Did he bring his jockstrap and he didn't even know what jockstrap everybody just laughed. At me was ridiculing. He was just burning red with shame embarrassment and so he goes back home away tells us dan how could you let me go drought football and not tell me this. You're supposed to be giving me that kind of information. And then you so fast forward. This guy becomes a fabulous football athlete. He's an all american art university of arkansas and then they make it to the national championship game. One of the bowls and then as the whole team gets invited to this fancy bowl banquet and they have to wear a tie and he doesn't know how to type of feels like the eighth grade kit again. Because it's just. I just is something i didn't get when i was supposed to get you know from my dad and so you know that's what we have to do. Is that makes people angry. And that's makes them out. You know in bad behavior you know and it makes them try to prove their mad by physically. You know beating up people and things like that so we have to Love those guys and say look you know sorry. You didn't get it but here you know what i say. You know my books like come come round my campfire man. It's warm you know you may not have had a debt. You can read this book in private. And there's a lot of resources that i point to. I've read where i made mistakes. I'm very transparent honest about yet in the you know. It's not a perfect but you know. Here's what i figured out. I found some clues. If you or history buff you know and like the honesty and it's like hey somebody had to make a map and say hey over here is where the sirens are you. Don't wanna go the rocks. You know that's useful information and that's what we have to do is we have to. We have to provide information to try to guide those guys who who didn't get it in and people like you and me or point in our lives where our kids are grown. Now we can go help others in that. That's what i wanna do right. I completely agree with you. And i think the power of story is a very Influential thing and can really influence people. Dow i have to ask when you're doing when you're writing the book. I know you i assume it was all coming from the heart and and and you doing it at of a labor of did you do any research unto Since the young young men are your target audience like what is what is the voice that will appeal to them because they speak a different language than our generation. Did you do any of that kind of looking at how do how do i best make this a comfortable. Read for young men. You make humorous So i've talked a lot of people and they said look you know no one likes to have the finger wag an urban lights and and that's where religious or pious people come across his. You know shame on you. You know that's not at all. It's like this a funny story. So i know you got another interesting common in magic right. So you worked in the magic shop disney world for a while so when i was a little kid and hated vegetables and the i didn't know i was basically getting extorted by my sisters for my meagre allowance. And you know. I'd to have to sit at the table and i couldn't leave until i either bribed them and i throw away or whatever but in this was unsustainable to me and so there's a chapter in my book where i took an interest in magic because i was big comic book writer and you know there was this ad magic in every those comic books like you know. I need to just make these vegetables disappear. And so there's a real uber story about How resourceful. I was nine year old. You know so. And everybody can relate to that some mischievousness. I worked at a boy scout camp. And i thought you know rowing canoeing swimming and lifesaving and sometimes you get these real smart aleck kids in you know man. I'm a representative of the boy scouts. America can't really come down hard on these kids. So you figure out little ways to you know teach them a lesson and so we would come up with these kids have. All of our is taught in a river. And then you know we'd come up and we look real close their in real concern and i think you got it and their way what eero vitus. What's that how it suspect in the river. You know so. Few remember matthias was this. A bryant disinfectant. a neighbor. take weeks to. We're often so we would paint their ears with this orange. Violate and they'd be walking around the hall and it was just a little payback and they never knew until they got home within our our camera. Got some letters and you know we had to cease desists but just kind of mischief fun you know. But then there's some little morals at the end of each chapter that kind of say. Hey you know there's life lesson here and it's for those who have used to hear. It's not too preachy. If you can connect the dots and you're going to get something out of the book. And you know i just Would encourage people to be open minded. Go take a look at it. I need to reach readers. That don't know me. And i think this is a pretty essential topic that we all need to be discussing Like you and i are. Now i agree a my difficulty. Right now is how do i put I have a lot of the young men in my life white. i want to Be a positive Influence in their lives And i'm finding that men and maybe women are going through this to. I don't know but i experience it more on the male side that we're taking a lot longer to grow up so i have a lot of Young men who were around thirty some older than thirty who are still struggling with manhood and going back to your point about wendy become men. I thought i became a man when i left home at fourteen years old Seeing men thirty to thirty five years old still living with their parents still not you know still not really supporting themselves and and i understand bad thanksgiving financial. Things can happen to people all time. But i'm seeing almost like an epidemic of thing all are week. Are we taking to we telling our kids through wrong and and giving him too long to grow up or do we need to be tougher. You know this whole i. It's what the answer is our do. We need to to to experience some tough love or or show some tough love and and or or is there a pedestal. Lucien for that taking too long to grow up okay. I got a good answer for that. So so mike you know. Everyone wants to be believed in right. So let's say you were an infant. Weren't walking it. And i didn't want you to get hurt. Sorry gave you a pair of crutches and so all you ever knew was using crutches and then you're you know you're adult you're still using crutches it's like the you gotta fall you gotta skin your knees. You gotta and it's that What they call the helicopter. Mom you know it is is the scourge of our lives. Is the twenty four hour cycle. You.

We hear the anguish feel the heartbreak joined. The country's resolved to do better. The Boy Scouts America stands with black families and black community, because we believe that black lives matter. This is why as an organization we commit introducing a specific diversity inclusion merit badge, which will be required for the rank of Eagle Scout. It will build on components within existing merit badges, including American cultures and Citizenship in the community merit badge which requires scouts learn about and engage with other groups and cultures to increase understanding and spur positive action here we go. The scouts will be requiring diversity and inclusion training over for all the employees brother whatever. Find. The he take a course. You take a course and get back. In its infancy, all of his. "But what we do this fight with I'm not saying it's right or it's wrong yeah the present outside presidential pardons and and blood gory of H. and Bernie Kerik and Michael miliken another city pardon yeah you say so it's okay the president pardons rich people yeah could you know what that that's the way it's always worked that that's his peers so here's the thing when you're young when your mommy all your gens here you're mad at the older generations because you see all okay so you're just going to the rich take care of themselves richer your sense okay because you know you're for one case make about it absolutely that that's how the I'm not saying it's right I'm saying that's not the system set up is what you're hurt when you're younger departed the younger generation you feel like you're getting trampled on that's why younger people don't vote they feel like well what's the point that no one speaking to me exactly because you have amassed anyway as you get older in America now the sun because you have money you have a voice I I know it's not right and it's not a perfect world but we don't live in utopia that's why this whole thing is that you know if you had a better alternative to Donald Trump then he certainly wouldn't be have the why breathy can too with a wide berth he can to do what he's doing and I'm not blaming the Democrats not their fault but it's just it's it's a big factor is it not if a little closer to me said Hey listen this is a right I'm gonna run against him and now you've got a a viable challenger rather than a yell socialist and and with things are way too progressive we're not there yet in this country science doesn't mean initially to write more earlier otherwise it's just that's the way it is there's a story going into as well victims right a turn it says there's about almost eight thousand scoutmasters and other volunteers accused of sexually abusing summer twelve thousand kids over number years here in the United States of course you may have heard the news the Boy Scouts of America file for bankruptcy protection yesterday one hundred and ten year anniversary of the Boy Scouts America founded by lord bait and Powell in these United States and they could wind up going under as a result of legal costs from the sexual abuse lawsuit and there's a parallel between this and of course the holy Catholic Church my gallon seven hundred W. O. W. host of Saturday midday attorney and former prosecutor took on the archdiocese insanity and similar issues join Panik hearing centers dot com Holland Michael how are you god how are you I'm doing fine I just brought the issue up in the presidential pardons in my take on that hi yeah I heard it well I I'll be honest I'm not happy with trump for doing that and say I liked it I'm just saying it's it's part of the problem that we have in America there's no viable alternative to this and if you don't have a a viable challenger to the president he he he can get away with a lot more now true well the thing about it is so if you look at Tom he is also pardoned many people that are not healthy I mean if the guy's got a thing about criminal justice reform I think that's probably coming from Gerald questioner and his daughter he has pardon people that don't fall into that Michael Milligan class but I understand what you're saying and I understand perception I'm sure prompter still and care yeah he doesn't have to care and I think that's that that's my point there too and yeah you're right and I brought that up earlier this is you know there's a number of people pardon and we focus on the for that he's friends with but there's some people there that I didn't bother to read who they were because well I mean look at Michael miliken how many people that he's right of the retirement money that's what I hate I get that and I thought that was kind of a curious choice to which is well I I mean I I don't really get that however the only thing I would say in his defense is like I said he is an advocate of criminal justice for those of us who toil in the fields of the criminal justice we saw that you're in the state of the union I hope he follows through on that to to decriminalize love these drug got people a sense for for for possession crimes I mean that right there is going to drain the swamp of our our our our jail system which I'm all for causes are your regular hard working people who got caught up met by a bad decision or being in a bad spot but anyway I want to talk about the Boy Scouts of America the Mike because time is always a sure here in seven hundred W. O. W. the so the the scope of this thing is massive right and so the Boy Scouts come out and say okay here's we're going to we're going to file chapter eleven as it on a national level now we have local councils here's the Dan beard council greater Cincinnati that's a legally separate and financial independent agency it's almost like they're franchisee if you will so that really doesn't affect them but it might in the long run will get that the second but if as far as the the over of the the larger organization the national organization the Boy Scouts a file chapter eleven in and they said I look you know we're gonna try to do is we're gonna obvious after do some assets here and then we can provide equitable compensation to the victims but the people who are representing the the victims are saying now what they're trying to do is they're trying to keep the names and documents secret of the perpetrators like the Catholic Church did and prevent other people from coming forward who's right well I'll tell you what I think the attorneys for the victims are right you referenced is to in your intro there about eight thousand not boy scout personnel from nineteen thirty four to two thousand and sixteen are the dates that are identified twelve thousand two hundred fifty four children what you're referring to Scottish which didn't know what's come to be known as the perversion files and it's just amazing to me in this day and age and I got a lot of respect for the Boy Scouts house in the boys got I was to the motion is what's needed now but they are acting in a very similar fashion the what the Catholic Church did years ago yeah and I hate to say it because I was pretty much a lifelong scouter my son was I I was just got my whole life my father my brother eagle scouts so we have that our family my father was a a leader as well I was an assistant scoutmaster my son was in it so it's something near and dear to my heart and a lot of people look at a girl that's kinda young nerdy and I got but you learn so you do all the stuff that you get in trouble for you can do it's got it's got the three right you can go to shoot guns out the words do all these great the in you know you have a great sense of of the environment and service and all these wonderful attributes young man and now women should have to but unfortunately we have kind of files in there as well and for a good part of thirty years the Boy Scouts did what was vogue in the times much like the church did does that cover up and and and trying to stamp these things out rather than address the perpetrators which the boys got failed doing yeah you're right and you would think a yeah for the past thirty years thirty forty years as the Catholic Church I'm told that the Boy Scouts would be watching that and learning from it I mean if you look at the similarities the big three that that I've been able to point out is that in the Boy Scouts like picking up the church the abuses perpetrated by someone in a position of trust and let me tell you some Scott dealing with the victims of these things for years and I still keep in touch with many of them that's the worst part of it uses bad enough but what it's done by someone who you trust it compounds it another similarity is it would appear that the Boy Scouts response to this was to protect itself and that some of its leadership not the victim and the third one is that they have a history apparently your handy history of not reporting this abuse to law enforcement I don't know how simple it is enforceable you could make that if you have an allegation call the police it's that simple so there are definite similarities to the Catholic Church in this yeah there's a lot more than a hundred thirty million Americans thirty five million volunteers in the Boy Scouts since its charter back in nineteen sixteen which is absolutely critical of numbers today is about eight hundred thousand volunteers AM eight hundred twenty thousand Boy Scouts one point three million cub scouts it's still alive and in well certainly declining in numbers two but the problem is though it if if you if they go and take these assets what does that then destroy the Boy Scouts I bring this up because what what the Boy Scouts own outside of the brand obviously is is a lot of land their places I when I was in scouts we went to Philmont national scout ranch that's on the Mexico it's about a hundred and fifty thousand acres pristine wilderness the hike the estimate that to be worth about forty million dollars there's a reserve there's Bob close one us as a scout reserve in West Virginia where the world jamboree happened last year and then there's sea bass in Florida and the northern tip high adventure there's all these campsites Nash with the Boy Scouts own that property is extremely valuable that endanger going away in a case like this where they have to come up and sell assets in order to find it the settlement yeah I think that's one of the make my notes one of the main reasons for the filing of the chapter eleven it's estimated that the Boy Scouts of America the main organization and you are correct in comparing it to like a franchise situation but anyway the bulls doubts of America based on tax firing stay at one point four billion in assets bought if you break it down to the locals like you said here in Cincinnati it's the D. and peered council I think the figure I Saul was about that three point four billion so trying to protect themselves and also trying to protect those local councils as well so I guess the question here is unlike the church's if you're a priest in your member of the clergy you essentially are a direct employee right you're being paid for your meals your how all this way by the church where is the scouts are made of volunteers yeah their employees but I I from what I could read here mostly these were we're volunteer leaders that were abusing the boys and very few employees why not then go after the individuals who to do these crimes why go after the Boy Scouts of America where it's different than the churches and yeah it it's in that regard but did the reason why they're doing it to the Boy Scouts of the the the the the the local or the the local council or the nationals because they they're the ones they have the.

"It I one more item to get to in Sam's top five number five boys scouts of America has filed for chapter eleven bankruptcy and proposes has proposed an abuse victim fund from Yahoo the boys got to America has announced filing for chapter eleven bankruptcy protection saying its goals are two fold they are equitably compensating victims who were harmed during their time in scouting and to continue to carry out its mission for years to come Boy Scouts of America noted that local scouting councils are legally separate distinct and financially independent from the national organization of and will not be directly affected by the bankruptcy reorganization as part of the bankruptcy process that Boy Scouts America said that it proposes to create a victim's compensation trust that would provide equitable compensation to victims of sexual in other abuse by scout leaders and volunteers they said that the the BSA a president and CEO Roger Mosby said the statement the BSA cares deeply about all victims of abuse and sincerely apologize to anyone who was harmed during their time in scouting he said we are outraged that there have been times when individuals take advantage of our programs harm innocent children boys scouts of America created a new site to BSA restructuring to answer questions and links to resources for abuse victims I feel like there's a well I say I don't feel like I know like there's a larger story with the with the with the Boy Scouts of of of America you know in in just how the organization is changed and struggle with its own identity and and had you know and and to bring more in new you know new children and Logan was a part of the Boy Scouts for a for a short time so I have some some experience there I know we have some listeners to there's no that that are quite a bit involved and I reached out to a couple of them be curious to see what their thoughts are but I feel I I feel like there's a part from because I wasn't aware of any the at any of the abuse scandal but I'd be very interested to know you know what kind of potential negative impact the you know the the lack of enthusiasm around the Boy Scouts for potentially has most a great organization for so long it just times of change in the wake of the grow up is changed and I think it's a lot of value with the boys because his voice cuts have to offer but you know I agree it doesn't seem like it's going to be around for much longer I agree the the the thing that I think people need to constantly be vigilant about is predators are going to go where the prey is yeah and when you have organizations that are centered around you know send your kids to us your small children your you know your young boys you're young girls send your children to us and we were going we're going to take them on trips and they're gonna be under our care they're gonna be under like you have to be a triple vigilant of vetting everybody that is involved in organization and and you as the parent of that children have to take responsibility for that for her for that from that yourself and make sure that you spend time to get to know don't just hand your kids off to people this includes public schools I mean one of the one of the biggest under under an unreported stories going on in this country right now is the amount of sexual abuse that goes on in our public schools it gets tamped down ticket doesn't get talking about and it doesn't get reported on irrelevant to the Boy Scouts I hope that the Boy Scouts gets through this I hope that they come out on the other side a stronger better organization it's going to be different though yeah just our cultures are very different now and the expectations of an organization like the Boy Scouts are going to be different the job xampp think hero got a story actress Rosario Dawson centers I like I like her quite a bit actually she doesn't do it doesn't do a ton of work but I like in what she does on unstoppable the vin diesel movie about the runaway traits fantastic film seventeen yeah it's really really good you really you did you enjoy it is she has officially come out as a lesbian just a month after dating senator Cory Booker during his presidential campaign this looks so bad staged I mean everything about this incredibly stay so the rumors around Cory Booker for awhile have been that he's gay there's been a rumor circulating around him I don't know if there's any veracity to it I have zero opinion on it whatsoever he is he is if he's not he's not I don't care okay let's get that out of the way but that was the rumor it's also needs running for president those rumors are out there they're circulating around and he's like no no no no no I'm I'm in unit was made this my girl Rosario Dawson here we're together and everyone is like really that's weird I haven't seen or heard anything about that before and then he drops out of the presidential race they break up and she comes out as gay it looks pretty stage right it looks bad regardless either that or Cory Booker was awful boyfriend yeah I know nope does sorry dude yeah yeah you go back last year is aria Dawson a Booker said I'm in love I'm absolutely love it it's so exciting and then Booker said look both of us you know we've had relationships but I'm not sure I've ever fully given myself over to relationship as much as I have with her and allowed myself to be as vulnerable I mean gosh that night we talked for hours and hours I had trouble asking her for a phone number I think I said something really stupid like how would I get in touch with you and she mercifully said something like you what my number and my insides were like what the hell yeah fourteen no I don't know this happened on the school bus so the US is that I kept saying that I the people can say that I came out I didn't do that she said during a recent interview with the muscle I mean it's not inaccurate but I'd never did come out I mean I guess I am now Dawson claims he's only been a relationship with with men up until this point so she didn't feel comfortable coming out of the closet officially until now she said that our time with Booker forced her to be introspective and discover the truth about her sexuality which bait comfortable about coming out as a lesbian the card to her account Corey yeah yeah I was the tipping point the facilitator that was that was the you know what yeah yeah I'm not down with this as I thought I was ever it it painfully reminded me of like the four girlfriends leading up to Melinda that all found their husbands right after they stopped dating me I had a feeling it would feel you'd be able to relate to the story I've been only I made a list just to make sure how many there were or those Christina Shelley Monica Jennifer and I know the names of all their husbands as well Israel immediately got merry let's see how many of you have their instagrams bookmarked I only want to what I don't want to one of their weddings I only went to one I don't know what that what that says move on and it was about Cory Booker not me Eric in Chicago good morning you guys are you know I'm not a lawyer I am but I've been involved in scouting for a long time the bankruptcy filing should be like a no impact whatsoever to how scouting gets delivered the waste gases organize you've got a national organization that owns the trademarks they own the the the copy rates the curriculum that people go out and buy they own the larger properties but the actual troops the the smaller camps that are in around the areas those are owned at the local level what's been happening over the last ten fifteen years as you've been getting people filing lawsuits in some cases legitimate cases of sexual abuse it took took case ten fifteen twenty years ago they're going after the national organization which does have really deep pockets they're not going after the local councils like in Minneapolis of places because typically they they operate on operating cash basis only they don't have they don't have a huge endowment to go after the national they do have they have an down once they have large bequeathed mensa come from from people that have been involved in scouting they have property so the lawsuits have all been focused on the national organization what they did with the bankruptcy here is they created a trust that all the lawsuits can be settled out of without taking down the rest of the organization so I mean this is something that the Catholic Church probably couldn't do if there were a lot of parallels and how they've had to handle lawsuits going back and forth but this is purely a defensive move being done to protect the land to protect the assets to protect the remaining in the elements and again to to set up a trust if you if you're going to sue the estate of scouting you know now all these lawsuits from ten fifteen years ago they're gonna be kinda captain what they can go after which is going to be this trust for settlement so that that that's really what this is sorry thank you so much you're from Chicago friend of the show reached out to him on Twitter and I appreciate him call in and add a bit of his his inside I knew it had some more some more information let's not let's not related publisher there's an article from February fifteenth we would hang on to I'll mention it briefly it just cracks me up the way the articles framed and surgery in as Biden struggles global shar and booted judge vie for Minnesota moderates to midwesterners fight for the moderates are they I love the way it's framed like you just with the discounted like all like like I I I know was based off New Hampshire but it's funny how I was completely ignored so are the reason bowling it's like this not just those got it such as publisher but a judge you've got another guy out there this is Bloomberg character and there's a Sanders guy yeah there's a there's a stop here this is the guy you know but it's just well let's put closure next to blue Gingin right grabs an article about John those are your two choices okay that is that is that I was the Star Tribune okay they're trying to do trying to giving me a little assist I got her to help her out they know she's gonna get trounced in her own state all you have on super Tuesday so they're just trying to give her a little a little boost so there's another article that will get you here in a moment from actually today which is basically the same thing because this is talking about super Tuesday the other articles talking about super Tuesday well and I'll give you my heart take which is most likely wrong because all my heart takes on clubs are on there's one point though out of the original article the February fifteenth at us just wanted to to talk about it just because it makes me laugh in place of a professional staff a group of at least one hundred it booted judge volunteers has bubbled up in Minnesota modeling booted judge volunteers taking over for like there would be like a solver for that or something I got that on that that's what's wrong I gotta get going to work today I got the bubbling booted judge so they take over phone banking and door knocking they said that a daily email newsletter and they host regular he'd ups of course they do of course they do actually it's a it's a it's a of course they call them Pino what else would they call them why would anybody go to something called that eat up Noel unsanitary they need to make a P. but a judge pull ups and then Colin Pete pull up all of these people up so but I just thought either the baby while giving he's kind of a toddler itself so it works point the I can't write yeah yeah he really as I mentioned before it really is kind he reminds me a lot of just to caucus is this everybody looks so young yeah looks like a teenager well the national polling which will get into later in the hour is atrocious for him and and clothes are the national polling right now both of them is bad I mean really really bad weather getting attacked by their own side yeah that's what said that it will you know I I don't I don't recall primaries are nasty primaries are always nasty in there's always going to be some infighting there's always going to be some circular firing squad it's inevitable it's the nature of it but it feels like this is purely anecdotal my partner feels like this one is getting nastier that I can recall any any other ones that I've closely following closely paid attention to I totally agree and I think I think a lot I think in large part it's it's I I think it's like a large parts Iowa and I think it's number I think Iowa did so much damage to all of this because it should have it should have been the field in a normal sort of primary year manner and it didn't it just it didn't do that it's both of those things you're right but it's also the identity politics of the of the of the left it's sort of eating in eating eating itself up their own like.

"The blindfold the batter hits it Laurent to either first or third base is not a second base and that's random If they get to the base before the outfielders others pick up the ball. Then it's a run if the outfielders six of them who also blindfolded get the ball first. Then it's out Though mind's I has had a beat ball program for thirteen years now we've just started ramp-up past couple years Usually that's tournaments we do around the area as fundraisers is to just kind of supplement All the other programs that we do then we realized this a real need where baseball town being the Saint Louis Cardinals Baseball city so we wanted to expand upon that so then we started doing more tournaments We instituted our fall classic. Two years ago and then we also go round and do demonstrations so it schools River Bend Elementary Webster University Washington University. Sluice we've done demonstrations all throughout the Saint Louis area just to kind of spread. The word about people also advocating for people who vision payments in adaptive sports in general. So the next step of that is is starting the the gateway archers which is a eighteen is gonNA compete nationally against about twenty other teams around the US and internationally. There's a few teams from the Dominican that come up as well right because I was going to ask you for. This was a national sport. Or if this was this something that was created locally and it's starting to grow but the fact that you're saying that it's national and you guys are GonNa be playing. Nationally is huge huge big. It's a big step for us Chedda there there is an another baseball team in Saint Louis. It's competed before they've had There is talk them not being able to compete this year and we wanted to represent our saint. Louis area Suchat Chad actually came to us to see if we'd be interested in starting that team up in kind of snowballed and we were like. Hey let's go do this. So told me Chad Chad Dylan. Thank you for being here Tell me what you what you what your involvement with this whole sport is all about well. My involvement started when I was sixteen years old. I was in Eagle. Ah Eagle Scout Project for the boy scouts America so I learned about people. I didn't know anything about it. I wasn't where my visual impairment at the time yet. Either so sixteen Vilson people be ball basis we send them to seven different continents so it really is an international sport at at this level. So learn you know Kinda was introduced to back thenn Softball player baseball player in grade school. Middle School so enjoyed it. I didn't get back I kind of maybe was not playing for a few years back involved As my vision started to get worse about Twenty fifteen twenty sixteen played in every tournament. Mines is had for the last three years and AH learning more and more about the the international level in the world series of beat ball and and really believing that we had enough players in Saint Louis to put together due teams started. Do Jason. I started talking about it. Mike and I as well in the last year is trying to make it happen. Wow so so you found out about this when you were sixteen years old. So beat balls been around that long since mid Seventies. Why did I know anything about this? Until we'll just like three or four years ago today me like she just found out today. Why is this not a more known wise? Not Out there more mainstream mainstream at least because it's such a fun game. It's such a fun sport seriously. Yeah it's I mean it's it's really homegrown roots is far is be ball goes I mean. Nobody really knows about a team outside of their direct area so I mean every major city has a team even smaller cities around the US. Have Them it's just a community base thing. I mean obviously. It's not as big as your most professional sports teams but it acts that way right So we we have enough homegrown talent here in Saint Louis. And that's Kinda how we started the Gateway Arch as we wanted all of our players to be from Saint Louis and represent our area There's other teams throughout their. Who Don't have that many players in the area so some of the teams Kinda pull a player? Some other things almost like free agents during that tournament which is a week long and in at the end of July? That bleeds August Since we're here we have the ability to practice on a weekly basis coming up soon Other tournaments are going to competing and before that world series veep baseball Whereas some of the other teams aren't as fortunate enough to be able to practice every day? They may get one practice in before that weeklong tournament. Wow so you said world series areas of beat ball. When is that? It's July twenty sixth through August. Second I'm it's taking place in Ames Iowa this year It's a traveling world series. So it's in a different city each cheer okay So I know it's been San Antonio before it's been Rochester New York so it travels all around Luckily for US getting there's going to be easier than than some of the other teams that are further away that have to deal with those those obstacles. But that's the other thing is when I started minds. I my background's in music technology so to school for recording music. I never thought six years later. I'd be organizing a beep baseball team to compete nationally at a world series. Like we're just ask you like okay. So we're how how did you stumble upon this I mean minds. I started doing beat baseball. Like as as the phone. In general I came across mines. I our our broadcasts record Tom. Williams meantime us to work together before then Since we started off as the radio station We've evolved over the past couple of years when we started. The radio is the big thing that we did. Music technology recordings radios a little bit smaller version of that is single track audio Via just kind of snowballed so obviously not mine hundred have many talents. So Jason saw I would be capable of doing something like this handling those responsibilities which I mean. Finding the players was easy. Since we've had our beat ball tournaments we had A. We know who was good in our area who wanted to play do these things But then just coordinating how we're getting to these tournaments coordinating practices things like It's just kinda wrangling. Few people like you would with any sports right. Yeah Chedda so you who are obviously involved in gateway archers. So how's the team House the team going. How's how's it getting getting the team together? How's that going for you think's it's going really? Well I played with a bunch of the folks for two years. It's it's feels comfortable with many of them and some of the other players are hadn't played with played against so it is kind of brotherhood. I guess sisterhood to So you know it's You know everybody they know you so. We all sat together at Suare. Last Friday nights the whole team together so kind of sit and talk a little bit game plan and some Yeah I hadn't really been thinking much about the team in wintertime. I'm not doing a lot of practicing but Got All excited after that. I think Saturday I was online about a new swing trainer. Getting all sorts of geared up for the season this year. That's exciting man. And I know that you were honored at the mind's Eye Suare congratulations on that. But you know tell me a little bit about I know oh you are visually impaired. What what is the what you said something about this something in regards to the moment that you have? What is the amount that you have? Okay so I have a retinal degenerative disease called retinitis Pigmentosa it's called RPI. It is very similar to macular degeneration generation. which is I would say more popular disease? I if if that's a word for it but what it what it basically is is is The cells in my retina are slowly. There's rods and cones retina. One of those is not receiving a certain vitamin that it needs and so it is slowly slowly dies off so if you think about Your vision most people have another one hundred ten one hundred twenty degrees field division over the last twenty three years so mine has slowly come together into what what would be called tunnel vision so the cells slowly die you lose more and more of your peripheral vision. Okay so you come down to central vision. I tell people it's like looking through strong

Ah well you know the past jamborees. My friend have been <hes> sort of work eat and sleep which is not a good model for our for ice tea. We wanted to have the opportunity to join the jamboree so the deal is that the i._s._d. The experience provides them with an opportunity to you know how some kind of other activities <hes> so. It is beautiful so they tell me that they have upgraded that raina area and the wifi connect you these should be able to allow every person there. They want to stream <hes> that back back to wherever or use it on facebook why whatever it should be able to to handle it. That's what i'm told now but you can't hold me to it. "Former boy scouts a revealing new sexual claims exposing one hundred fifty alleged pedophiles for the two hundred individuals have come forward with new allegations of sexual abuse by members of the boy scouts of American recent weeks, there is trio they law firms today seeking to uncover unidentified child abusers. A few young still underage on the twenty s of many of health or secrets close for decades. James kretschmer? Fifty six years old who says a leader groped him at voice Coutts camping's, a middle school said nobody would have listened to me. The problem is what you think is something. I did. What was I doing was my fault? If I had done whatever he wouldn't have done that. Having Minnesotan myself. Those are the exact same things you think about, but when it we need to talk about this took years and years to realize it wasn't that little child's fault. It was the adult control Samuel seventeen. He was funneled via leader a decade ago with told them don't say anything. For while. I live with those three words. That's why I didn't say anything advised by Tim causing an attorney who has litigated more than thousand cases of sexual misconduct against organizations like the scouts in the Mormon church. They said the group of attorney said it has identified one hundred fifty alleged pedophiles never before publicly accused. And you know, this is gonna get tricky. This is gonna get tricky because you've got people who were really abused. And you've got people who might not have been abused. And then how do you prove it? And it's. This is I mean, we saw what happened for Cavanaugh. We saw what happened with? I mean, this this opened up a huge can of worms, but it could also bring Justice to those who deserve Justice. So they say the law firms began running TV in Google ads encouraging victims to sign on his clients for potential lawsuit. F- report in December that the voice of America prepared for possible chapter eleven filing. The volume of ready gathered could double the number of legal cases organization already is facing. Although bankruptcy would halt existing future litigation. In a statement about the new allegations. Boy scouts America said any incident of child abuse. Once you many and nothing is more important than the safety and protection of children in our scouting programs. Now cost enough and his colleagues at a filing would have a chilling effect on the victims of Bility's to expose predators who are threat to their communities. The number of victims of signed last month is evidence for the Seattle based attorney that many more have yet to step forward. They say that's proof that we've barely scratched the surface. He added that the FBI research has shown that each perpetrator has over one hundred victims over lifetime of funding. All right. My kids were voiced outs. You you kind of wonder where the incident has happened. There's a lot of opportunity, but for the most part the boys are usually together groups, there's usually dad's there by the dads usually friends of the family. And it's I, you know, on one end, I get whatever I sent my kid or whatever I mean, I felt very safe as theirs daddy's we know or our daddy is there and a lot of them are of faith and religious and stuff like that won't happen. But it sounds like stuff is happening. Fairly voice Coutts dodging allegations. Since his landmark case of two thousand ten that ended with an eighteen point five million dollars damage award and the release of the twenty thousand confidential documents dubbed, the quote, perversion, files voice got one hundred years old. And they say they have kept track of suspected and known of users. They've even banned leaders volunteers sixty five and eighty five but the records show that the scouts had rarely reported those individuals to police that's a problem. Much like, the USA gymnastics and the Catholic church USA today says the scouts have been accused of covering up the views the scouted organization faces Twitter lawsuits that is insurance companies threatened to stop covering USA gymnastics filed for bankruptcy protection. December following the lead of more than a dozen. Church diocese. So. The boy scouts have join us teachers like Michigan state lobbying efforts to extend statutes limitations. So if something did you twenty thirty years ago, you are able to come forward. So this is this is this is the first let's talk about why would somebody be paedophile? Why the hell are there? So many. I mean, if this is a rogue psychotic style thinking. All right. It shouldn't be that Coleman. It should be a real freak of nature for somebody to wanna have sex with a kid or two fondling or whatever. But here's the problem. Okay. There's varying degrees of mental illness when somebody is a paedophile the average paedophile doesn't start with I wanna have sex with a kit. That's not how it starts the average paedophile bay have a fetish they may like moose kit. They may like soft skin. They may like non hairy. A lot of them like power. And they may want especially in the animal kingdom, we've seen this with animals animals will prey upon a. Inferior. That can't fight them and you'll see animals have sex with animals that can't fight back. And so it's the power. That's a -tracting them. It's the for some it could be the pediatric genitalia. And so you have a whole variety of different mental illnesses when you deal with a paedophile, we use one term for paedophile, Peter I have my own choice for them that I can't say on air, but we have one category of paedophile and then psychiatrists these divide up. What is burning the paedophilia? Is it a control? Is it a fetish? Is it a is it a love? I mean have they fall in in love some people will fall in love child. I mean, I know this is a little weird, but Star Wars the fourth movie that came out which was technically episode one. You know, the ending was really weird because my kids say that's anikin, Anna, kin and pad way or pad may or whatever. Hook up later. I'm like, but he's a kid, and she's you see them look at each other. And you're like, no, no, she looks like an adult, and he looks like it just seemed odd to just whatever. But people well fall in love with people as kids they I don't know some of these pedophiles were abused themselves. They wanted the brother sister, they never had. They wanted the childhood. They never had. And they fall in love with the child that they see and they wish to be. And so you're not dealing with normal thinking, you're dealing with a a mind that is I caught it. And so you can't use logic. And and I ever since people fetishes they like teddy bears, or you know, they like to watch people have sex or whatever there's a variety different sexual fetishes. But you have people there fetish as a kid. That's not allowed. That's sick. And so once you start to see that there could be a variety of things leading somebody to paedophilia. Then they. There's not just one treatment. There's not just a small set of people. There could be tons of people out there. And again, when you are Beuys, I said to myself, I was like, okay. You know, if this was my fault. I should've never let him drive me home. I should have taken a cab. You know? I mean, you do you start to playing yourself you bad things happen? You always blame yourself first. And then you get barris. I didn't tell anybody no way. Believe me. No way was I gonna tell anybody now I made that choice. So I'm not gonna come forward. Now, I made that choice back then no sense ruining that person's life. Now. I don't think they're threat. But I said that same thing to myself..

"Two which go to your phone calls on this. What you think about it? Let me go to Anthony you're on the Ben Ferguson show. Hi, anthony. Two. Growing up. And. It was raining. And like you say it you say homosexuality is your input. Are you referring like with the scout leaders or what? Well, both ways among or your. All the boys. You know, they they knew about it. And again, I guess basically told. Boys will be boys. But it's the part of if somebody is I mean, if somebody's gay that's obviously not against the law where the lawbreaking would come in as if you had scout leaders having inappropriate sexual contact with minors was that also happening. Aware. Okay. Because the other part is not against the law. I mean, let's be clear. I agree. I agree. It is basically basically the same problem. Completely different. If you have two consenting whether it's teenagers are or whatever doing something that's different than an adult having a sexual relationship with a minor. Get you. Absolutely, absolutely. Absolutely. No misunderstood. Yeah. I'll totally agree. I'm just saying that kind of like the the show which I'm a Catholic, by the way. But it's it's just part of it. It's just part of it. Well, they haven't kind it up. I'm sorry. The Catholic church is still not cleaned up their act. They still have people that have children within the church. They're still doing everything they can to protect him. Yeah. Yeah. They won't. But anyway. The, you know covering this like your and people need to know, what will be done. I don't know until until people's minds were less liberal. And I'm not talking political liberal there'd be live right along. I don't think there's going to be a solution. It'd be on this one is this to me is not political. It's just you know, I don't understand. I was looking just to see and I'm still trying to get the data because it's hard to find. I was trying to see how many churches here in the mid south are affiliated with Bush kept of America. And it's significant I can't get exact number. I'm trying to get that. We've been looking all literally through the whole show today. Trying to find this information because any church, I mean, every church should should look at this and say, we're done with you. Why would you ever want to be associated with with with a group like this? You wouldn't why would anyone want to do this? It doesn't make any sense. I don't get it. I don't get why anyone would want to be associated with this. Why you would want defend it why you'd wanna protect it? Why? I mean, it's obvious. It's time to say goodbye, the boy scouts of America. And I got a lot of people that are criticizing me, by the way, I'm lying about this. When I mean going to be great sample Morgan who's my son's scouts? I'm proud that. My son's scouts our churches. Proud to be a member to be involved with the scouts. You're painting with too broad brush. Okay. Tell that to the seven thousand eight hundred nine nineteen people. Who were in the voice of America database who were not reported the police that were involved in sexually abusing a child. Tell that to the twelve thousand two hundred and fifty four victims those are the numbers of the boy scouts America. So what the real number is God only knows. You think I'm being insensitive? I'm just saying the facts here. Somebody's been your tacking the boy scouts America with a little too much. Anger today. I'm angry that this was allowed to happen. The boy scouts of America knew it, and they didn't do anything to stop it. That's what I'm angry about it. If I can't get angry about this. Is there anything really worth getting angry over? Serious question. Serious question. Five three five nine seven three to five three five nine seven three two one eight hundred four seven four nine seven three two Guinea, you're on the Ben Ferguson show. I I don't know why people get offended when I'm just telling you the actual numbers when I'm telling people what's actually going on people get offended. I Sam being too hard on the on the boy scouts, and I'm being hard on the boy scout leadership. Brennan, I can't agree with you more. First of all, I'm not someone who makes jerk reaction on things. But when it comes to our us bat changes, everything adults, news changes everything. And this is what happens when you get an organization that gets so big that they care about their almighty dollar and the power of it that they do everything in their power as you pointed out to even higher lobbyists. So that they don't risk losing their money and their power this. And that's what this is. And the fact that they would do this and claim to be what they are is a Travis team. And as you pointed out rightly pointed out if they've admitted to ten thousand that numbers astronomically higher it's like a drunk. How many how many drinks did you have tonight at work? Well, if you met the four it's probably four times at night. Right. And that's just what they've admitted. Right. Correct. That's all that's come. Well, it's not only what they've admitted. That's only what's been released to us. We don't know what's actually out there. When you go state by state in the fact that I mean, this is Stanford, Tori issues statutory rate type issues, and the fact that I don't know what the regular, and again, if if a church if somebody says to me that I'm being too hard on the boy scouts their money. Just look where it's being spent right now. I mean, really look at where it's being spent on lobbyists to make sure that the rules are not changed to allow the statute of limitation for abuse victims sexual abuse victims is extended they're standing there right there with the with Michigan State University who protected, you know, these doctors that were abusing these children gymnastics. They're standing side by side with him going. No, no, no, no, please. Whatever you do don't extend essential, limitations. We can't afford it. Not. Let's do. What's right? Let's no, no. We're not going to do. What's right? Absolutely. Not. We're going to do what we're going to do. What's best for us financially? Not what's best for the victims. Exactly. And that's where our problem is our legal system has stopped doing what we're in wrong that the average person says is right and wrong. And they say, oh, no, no, no. They're too big to fail fail. We have to protect them. Well, no. That's not the way it's supposed to work. Right. Is right and wrong is wrong. And in this case boy scouts are absolutely wrong. And they're hiding behind a bunch of damn attorneys that are gonna do everything they can screw it the system of even worse. So that it's never gonna work for anybody else and will never have any faith in our legal system ever again because it's under attack from the president's level all the way down to our youth. And if our shoot aren't worth our churches, separating because it's about money than our churches need to fail as well. Argue with are worth a hell of a lot more. More than the damn boy scouts are. And I'm sorry. But that's my opinion. Thank you. Good to talk to you. And I appreciate.

"Cover up that is what we're seeing from these new files of come out from the boy scouts of America. I think there's two takeaways from this abuse. And and how wide spread it seems to be in the boy scouts of America that they've covered up one. I don't know how any church could stay associated with them. Why you would want to Lynn your name to the boy scouts America is beyond me. I don't know why anyone would think it's a good idea to stay associated with the boy scouts America. After what we've seen from them. I just I don't get it. That's the first thing. Second thing that I'll say about this is not only is that an issue. But the second part of this is I believe that the attorney general each state should get involved now and open investigation into the abuse. Because it's very clear that this was nationwide. The number of kids that we now know about listed the number of people that we now. No about thera listed. It's overwhelming. And they did exactly what is. So what is so wrong in this in this? When you see these abuse cases, whether it be the Catholic church leadership or another voice gets America. They do everything they can't you protect the organization and protect those abused the children instead of protect the children because they're afraid of what might happen. To their organization if they actually did a real investigation, really figured out. What was going on? That's the problem. Five three five nine seven three to five three five nine seven three two one eight hundred four seven four nine seven three two. We'll get to your phone calls on this. Jim you're on the Ben Ferguson show, you accomplish something that is really hard to do. You became an eagle scout. Congratulations for that. You have obviously perspective of of a lifetime in the scouts. Give me your take on this. Do my guys compelling the previous caller. But oh, by the way, I've played Racquetball with your aunt at member-state years ago. World. Yeah. Back championships. Baby you go. I have me as I am one of the few that was not molested inner scouts. I enjoyed my time in scout. It was it was wonderful did me a lot of good. But. As we know L BB community is jealous of the boy scouts as a whole and wanted to do as much damage occurred. That's been done with the gay gay boys coming in there that open a door to the destruction of the scouts on. I gotta I gotta disagree with you on that. And here's why the timeline doesn't match up with what you're saying. We're looking we're looking back at this list here. I mean this list goes that from nineteen forty four to two thousand sixteen this is long before the openly gay stout. Any of those issues the last couple of years came up. It says no I just don't want to turn this into a issue. That's not has nothing to do with what happened here. Nothing at all. No, no, no. I'm saying that. Yeah. If scandal hadn't come to light. Egger has recently the LTV Hannity started open the door. But this scandal is gonna close the door on this count as an organization in and I'm shame. I'm I'm I day. Read this article about this scandal. I call scout national and ask them to redact my name from all permanent roles because as of right now. Nobody will hear me speak. That was an eagle scout. I'm distraught. I'm upset I work hard for that rank. But from this point forward, nobody will say that I would feel scouts and I'm starting to say that but. But the the I'm assuming you're in the scouts was it through a church. That's correct hand. Memphis. Yes. Do you know if that church still has a scouts very accurate? Yeah. I that's the call. I wanna know. I wanna know how any church now any church can can can defend being associated with this organization. I don't think they can I it's it's really sad. Now. My my leader wasn't a Carney has nothing to do with anything. But he was barred so for you know, whatever, but he was a great guy. And and the had right by the boys. But you know, these these these trip later that are destroying the love is thickening can be voiced doubts. I acted them the boy scouts protected them. Instead of doing the right thing that is the part that is sickening. Thank you, brother. Five three five nine seven three to five three five nine seven three two one eight hundred four seven four nine seven three two should the state attorney general. Involved an open investigation the boy scouts. I argue. Yes, I think it's overdue. I think it should happen. Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, I think shopping all over the place, and the other thing is should churches immediately cut off their affiliation with the boy scouts five three five nine seven three to five three five nine seven three to have more your reaction. That's coming up in a moment for we get to that though wanna talk to you real quick about your cell phone. If your cell phone is with AT and T or Verizon, you need to know where your money is going AT and T and Verizon are heavily politically active. They have actually supported more than ten thousand democratic candidates running for election and reelection. They've given more than two hundred million dollars to more than ten thousand democratic candidates think about that amount of money. They've given money directly to plan parenthood as well. More again, your dollars going directly to Planned Parenthood. If you're with AT and T ever-rising they've also given money to extreme elected officials governor northern Virginia who advocated.

"For years decades have been doing everything that they can possibly do to cover up the abuse of young young children in the boy scouts at the hands of leaders and doing everything they can to make sure. That the organization the institutions protected instead of the children, which they're supposed to be protecting. These files show systematic cover-up and systematic abuse of children that people have clearly been able to see and yet they just did everything they could to make sure that it would never see the light of day that people would never see it that it would ever be talked about never be exposed. Now. These new files that have come out of also showed that this is a problem statewide nationwide. I I would say two things about this one. I believe that there should be an investigation full investigation by the attorney general of each state into the boy scouts America. Because that's the only way you're going to get even close to the bottom of this. I think what we're seeing now is really just a tip of the iceberg. Now, the latest is that you need to know about is. There's this list of boy scout leaders that have been accused of sexual abuse has nearly three thousand more names than were previously disclosed by the boy scouts America. And this wasn't even disclosed by the boy scouts in America. It was only because of court cases that this list was able to come out. The boy scouts of America. Believe more than seven thousand eight hundred of its former leaders were involved in sexually abusing children over the course of seventy two years, according to newly exposed court testimony. About two thousand eight hundred more leaders and previously known publicly the boy scouts identified more than twelve thousand alleged victims. Twelve thousand the numbers and literally come from the what the BSA called, it's volunteer screening database Elissa volunteers and others of the boy scouts removed and banned from its organization over accusations of sexual abuse. But the part that's so shocking is they didn't report these crimes to the authorities. Have the seven thousand eight hundred include scout leaders and masters across the country accused of sexual assaulting children under their charge. What hadn't been known to us as the real scope of this attorneys represent the victim said in a press conference, we care deeply about all victims of child abuse. And sincerely apologize to anyone who has harmed who is harmed during their time in scouting with the BSA put out a new statement quote at no time have we ever knowingly allowed a perpetrator to work with youth. And we mandate that all leaders volunteers and staff members nationwide immediately report any of you tally Gatien, salon that was not the case until you that's eleven that's misleading statement from the boy scouts of America. They only made it mandated in two thousand eleven before. Then they clearly didn't mandate it. The voice scouts emphasize that when someone has added to its volunteer screening database. They are removed entirely for many scouting program and prohibited from rejoining anywhere. But if they molested a child, don't you think it should call the cops on that? Because you didn't mandate that until two thousand eleven. Now, the attorneys representing some of these victims said the latest numbers were revealed in court testimony on January the thirtieth in the course of a Minnesota child-sex rape trial, actually, unrelated the boy scouts. Now, Janet warn a professor of psychiatry at the university of Virginia testified in the trial is an expert who knew about policies regarding protection of children from sexual abuse. Besides her work as a professor that BSA Wisconsin America hired or two thousand thirteen to research. It's ineligible. Volunteer database and recommend how to make it more effective in the Minnesota trial and attorney asks warrant about her involvement with the boy scouts and our answer. She sent her review of the group's database showed the BSA revoked the registrations of seven thousand eight hundred nineteen people through two thousand sixteen on the belief that they were involved in sexually abusing a child. And then it had a dinner fide more than twelve thousand two hundred and fifty four victims. Again, this goes all the way through two thousand and sixteen. Now part of the BSA's. Ineligible. Volunteer lists have been published before two thousand twelve attorneys involved in the case against the boy scout release some of the ineligible. Volunteer files involving allegations against more than a thousand people. With the approval of the Oregon supreme court. Those attorneys had won an eighteen point five million dollar judgment against the boy scouts two years. Earlier in the case where a scoutmaster sexually abused the boy, and guess what they didn't tell the authorities. Also in two thousand twelve the Los Angeles Times reported that BSA boy scouts of America was reviewing about five thousand cases from the nineteen fifties. Onward five thousand cases in which employees are volunteers respected molesting children and were removed from the organization the boy scout announced the review days after a times investigation based on extensive review. The files was published. So again, all this is reactionary to continuing to get busted for covering up and protecting the abusers instead of the children at the boy scouts America. Then later that year. The Los Angeles Times published a list of five thousand people expelled from the boy scouts between nineteen forty seven in January. Oh, five on suspicion of sexual abuse. Having gathered the files from court cases in which they were submitted as evidence, partly at issue. The attorney said today is what police were mmediately told of all of these allegations. After the initial release of the thousand plus cases, boy scouts America's sent you. Twelve it was reviewing files to ensure quote, all good faith suspensions of abuse have been reported police the group enacted a mandatory policy finally into eleven requiring all members tell police a possible child abuse. Now, what is voice Coutts America doing just so you know, right now, I can tell you what they're doing. They have decided that was so important for them to really get this, right? They've actually hired lobbyists to go in lobby against not in favor to lobby against extending the statue of limitations for people that were abused to be able to have their case be heard..

"Five four three. Let's start an Allen Chris welcome to the program. Hey, thanks. Appreciate it. Yeah. I am interested in this topic. I was an eagle I was a boy scout never eagle scout. But I went through cub scouts was in the scouts America's eighteen. Well, the organization love the experience. It taught me a lot of really amazing values and principles growing up. But they became very political over the last five years and things that they need to be political in and because of that they this anchovies themselves from a lot of organizations that provided all the funding for them to to function belong to the LDS church. And they they totalled out. I think it's a majority of the of the population over fifty percent of the funding was well over fifty percent, and they left they left the boy scouts America last year. Because of a lot of the politics did into needlessly, what kind of politics. Well, so the very first one that comes to mind is today talked about allowing transgender and gay leaders to be allowed to be participants and B N B scout leaders and troops at parents didn't necessarily feel comfortable with that situation. And then another thing as well as they didn't want to be voice scouts of America. They wanted to allow anyone that wanted to join girls and boys, and I have three children. I've got a son at twelve to sixteen years old. I'm not sending my son camping materials, it's just not going to happen. And so it's not it. I have girls as well. I would love to put them in an organization similar deploy scouts, right? But there's a reason segregated. There's nothing wrong with it being sedated. And yet they felt like it was a moral issue. All right. Chris. Thank you. I appreciate your call very much. Good to talk to you. Let's head to Dallas John you're on cliff with any Hello. Hey, earning. Good to talk to you. Thanks for taking my call. I am enables scout proud to be one. I have a boy who's an eagle one. Another one is on his way, and I feel very much like Krista Allen. I mean, I think the boy scouts got themselves. I I don't know whether their follow the ended up getting shoved down their throat, but they you know, they they ended up in a situation where they had to make a statement about these things, and I feel like it's a lot of like a lot of issues these days, it's sort of a tyranny tyranny of the minority in terms of taking one, you know, very small exceptional type cases and may in having to make being forced to make a decision about what are you going to do about it? What do you do? And I believe it's sad to me that we lost the, you know, the LDS portion of the scouts because it was important to us. And I think it was an organization that is dry is doing things we need we need, you know, boys and our kids away from devices out in the nature out doing stuff and learn how to do practical things like the boy scouts. Do. Yeah. But I, but it's very, you know, you get back into these corners, politically, and it just easy really hard. Navigate through that. And that's very good way. It's a very good way to put a John supportive of scouts and everything. But I'm glad my guys were just about really to be honest because it's just it's getting a very murky waters to navigate it's very frustrating. John thank you for being on the program. I do appreciate it. Eight hundred seventy seven five five four three talking about the boy scouts. Another story today about a number of people who've been involved with kids in ways, they shouldn't have been in the past Keith in Lewisville, you're on cliff with Ernie. Thanks, ernie. I'm actually a pardon me. I'm actually a former employee of the boy scouts. I'm an eagle scout myself. It is really sad to see what's happening. But it has been just in my experience. I've seen a dearth of leadership. That's bizarre that a Orgainzation that that is teaching leadership of really struggles keeping people there that that can lead them through challenging times. And you know, a lot of things have been said or they're accurate. Just a just an organization that's really being challenged. And and they've kind of, you know, lost their base by by trying to appeal to to people that that aren't interested in supporting them. Anyway, do you think they've been getting well, obviously in a case like this where these abuse charges? That's that's that's definitely a problem. But before apart from this have have they suffered from a lack of leadership because of what our previous caller John said about being able to navigate the societal changes. Yeah. Absolutely. It's I think that might have a lot to do with it maybe more than than any other single thing. You know, and they always said be patriotic political. And unfortunately, it's been politicized to a point where it's it's difficult to do that. Yeah. And one other thing it it gets report all the time that they changed the name. The name is not changed for the organization. It's still the boy scouts of America. Yeah. They have simply changed the name of the program. And I think it was dumb me personally. But that the organization is still called the boy scouts America. All right. It's reported incorrectly. All.

"Three one zero one point five any scout leaders an eagle scouts anybody that can make fire from the son wanted Kimmy call let me now because seriously or as I look at this because the girl scouts of circle the wagons, the girls guys, we are who we are. This is what we do. You know, we teach this and sell cookies, and this is our business model and Wayne interested in having any guys join the boy scouts on the other hand. Oh, KOMO faithful and everyone and joined the boy scouts. How do you feel about it? One eight hundred two eight three one. Zero one point five you have all girl troops in the boy scouts, so fine. If their marketing plan, if the idea is, you know, girls joined the boy scouts boy scouts are like completely silent. Or they have nothing. What can you possibly say? This even call it. What could they possibly say to this? The like if you're right. One eight hundred two eight three one zero one point five you have a business model and the other hand that the girls are joining because they want to do the things that the boy scouts have to offer. Yet aren't there enough boys? They want to do those things is this a numbers thing. I mean, if in fact, this is a business decision one eight hundred two eight three one zero one point five boy scouts began accepting girls into the ranks at the start of this month. So I'm asking you one eight hundred two eight three one zero one point five. How do you feel about it? Do you think like this should be scouts for girls? Scouts for boys. I believe that if you're going to do this you need to drop the boys out of scouts issues just has to be scouts. BSA? What does that mean scouts boy scouts America? Or what is that? That's kind of loopy scouts. Yeah. The scouts, and then you have the girl scouts and the girl scouts do what they do. And the fact that you know, will people think that they're afraid is that the girl scouts are suing the boy scouts accusing him of misleading advertising. They might cause families to believe the two organizations have merged a now one and the same. Well, they're going to figure that out once they try to join right? I mean, if you believe that and you go to join up you're gonna find out right? Then in there. These are two different companies make your choice Chaussee with that's a problem. But I respect the girl scouts saying. We are who we are. We're not changing this is who we are. This is what we do the boy scouts. I don't understand this. But it doesn't make sense to call yourself boy scout if in fact, you're going to accept girls. Nothing wrong with accepting girls. But I don't think that's the business model. Jonathan is in Marlborough on New Jersey one point Jonathan what do you make of this? Hey, how are you doing tonight? Food. I am an eagle scout. I'm a boy scout leader, and this whole idea of admitting girls girls into the boy scout it, it's I don't know. It's a little bit of a double edged sword. I say that in the sense that you know, it's important that we do separate boys and girls because they do have they do have different interests. And you wanna you want to, cultivate, those interests? I know there's a movement out there nationally where it's almost like we're trying to get rid of gender. No difference. Yeah. I totally agree. And I I will tell you that locally a rank and file leadership is not happy at all about admitting girls into scouting. Now. I have to say there's a little bit of a quandary there because I have two young daughters. Right. They tried girl. Scouts. They were bored. They were to cheers with that. You know after year, they quit. They saw how much fun. My son has in cub scouts and boy scouts, and they wanted, you know, they wanna they wanna be boy scouts because they like going outdoors you like the activities kind of the the home economic aspect of girl. Scouts did not interest them at all. But let me ask you this. Why couldn't the boy scouts come up with a division? Call it lady scout or call it something. But not not bring everybody together. I mean, I really believe that you know, they were there things that you know, boys guys feel more comfortable just being especially at that age is being around boys and talking about the same thing with girls. And as part of the reason why they're separated so the idea bringing everybody together could cause problems. Oh, I totally agree. And and when I speak to my parents mothers are not in favor of this at all. I mean, I think it's it's nice introduced the principles of scouting two two girls and young women. I don't have a problem with that. But I do think to some extent, you're you're right. Keeping it separate actually is going to make things better. Once you mix the girls and boys together, and you try to kind of make make it a homogeneous group that actually weakens the whole movement. I agree with Jonathan thanks for the call to New Jersey one zero one point five you'll thoughts. Jersey.
