Anything you have seen in the last few weeks after that first month. As, far as watching Ray as far as what you'll see on the track, you know crazy things happen in Frank Yang. It's a lot like bowman gray in the aspect of. a lot of wild things happen. There's fights every now, and then I'm probably a little more than every now and then you know and just you. You're GonNa see good stuff I mean and the holiday you know obviously make the races extremely exciting I mean I've been to Langley speedway you know I think the racist fantastic but the man, the banking at Franklin County just makes everything looked more intense and and I think coming. In now, I would think that just like Bowman Gray Franklin County being that it's you know up in the western part of the state. There are a lot of feuding going on. Yeah Yeah I mean they they talk about. McCoy's up in West Virginia. We got I. Don't know what their names are down here, but we got money one. You need to be you know as as a promoter I. "Welcome back to talk Lexus Erickson here in Concord North Carolina holding down the Fort, and the PRN studios while Mark Garo and Doug. Rice are in Texas house a feeling out there in Texas. You know it has been unmercifully hot, but I think that's been good for the contiguous forty eight states If you look at any national weather map, they're all red and we now. At least we know that Doug can handle the air conditioning in his car. Yes, so had to. We've that's read it. was tough to manipulate on and I finally had to get ahead to give in and give you get help from our Garo and how to do that, but we're. Were here. This is the second race this week. Almost forget seems like the All star race was a year ago and I'm going to ask both of you. This asked mark this on the other broadcast. We'll do it again. There were three big changes coming in Alexis. We'll start with you on each one of these. The first one being put. Under glow lights on the race cars career part of the race cars at Bristol your thoughts on that yet in love it. I'm sorry I know you and I have exchanged techs about this and you are in favor of the underground lights. The under car lights I feel like it looked a little bit half baked. Only him out the back of the car. I feel like perhaps if they figured out a way to get it to where the entire undercarriage of the car was glowing. You know I could maybe get on board with that a little bit more. With Alexis drop the under glow lighting Kevin Harvick got done the race. He said I was just hoping it fell off at some point, and you had some teams turning them off on the pitstops. Nobody really knew what to do with them. And I thought that was a stretch a little too far I. I was okay with it. Because let's face it this. This sport is desperate to cultivate new fans and putting some lights underneath the cards excites an eight year old enough to. To become a NASCAR, Fan I'm all about that. Yeah, I mean I look for the All star race. Fantastic loved it I'm not sure if it's something we need to adopt in all of our night. Races going forward, see my problem with it was. You didn't have three distinct colors. You had blue for Ford. You had the red for Toyota, and Chevy had this Kinda weird thing I think it would have helped have more distinct color chevy like they were on fire because he. Color, I I would really, if they if they do the lights again, let the teams pick a light that coordinates with their paint scheme. Joola Ghana's car look better with red lining underneath, because it would have played off the radar as car. That's not my thoughts I think we're getting a little bit to artists. Maybe well, I'll tell you. As, the car, my graphic designer husband said the same thing. He said it would be cool if they let us change. The colors based on the paint scheme, so you know. That is a little too artistic. We'll give into Jordan mark. You don't know this, but Lexus is. Husband is also very accomplished. I racer, he entered. We spent a lot of the the lockdown time watching Jordan, race. He won his court series which he runs in all the time, and he even had a few really good finishes in the replacement series. If I racing ever needs a designated caution, flag Siamese. I don't even think. They're with you mark. They're not gonNA. Let me near a gaming console. Lawrence, one of the other changes They moved the number around on the car and let the sponsors put logos markle. Let you go first on the side of the car. I liked it I. think especially. I looked at the discount tire Ford Car Brad Kazlauskiene. It really jumped off the racetrack I. think moving the numbers back a little bit allowing the sponsors a little bit more artistic, you know license to work on that side of the car on the you know the passenger side and driver side of the car. I liked it Alexis. I didn't like it at first when. When I saw it come across twitter and I saw the renderings and things of that nature. I just thought. You know what I just. It just looks weird I don't love it, but then I will say once I saw in Race I. Didn't even really notice it that much as much as I thought that I would so I'm good with it. Yeah Shakespeare says much ado about nothing. Yeah, once I started seeing it. I thought if I'm a sponsor. If I'm one, these companies and I'm dropping millions of dollars. I sure liked to have any extra pop and it wasn't distracting at all I. I know there were some detractors for just felt like. It didn't have much impact either way and the third thing Alexis was the the choose comb I love it. Absolutely love it, I think we continue that it gives a another ounce of drama into the restart and restart have been you know the best of the best as far as the content is concerned in these races as of late restarts or where all the action. Action happens and I. Think this just adds another kind of cool element to it I I'm here for it. CHOOSE COMB! Oh, I think it's a great idea I've watched. You know at Bowman. Gray Stadium Doug. A guy was in eighth place, and all the other drivers Wanda lineup on the outside room. He drove up to the inside of row one and made A. A race out of it, and maybe had a chance to win so again it brings one more piece of strategy into the deal and I think the drivers want it I. Think they'll use it in a way that will add to our site. I think in the order of adoption because they use this to Beta test, a lot of the new ideas, the choose cone. Cone will be in the sport year. I I have.

"Yeah. That team was pretty strong for quite a while. I'm in those are crazy stats suggest anymore really like one team being able to translate from driver to ever so easily is just. It's something that's really impressive. Dwi's closest competitor. Both years for the championship was none other than Bobby. Allison who has his biggest rival now? I didn't know that they had ever been friends. But going back to Daryl's Cup career. He said that Bobby Allison taught him everything that he knows about setting up a car. Because Bobby was actually building the short-track car that he was running in Asheville. And you know different tracks over the southeast but yeah during that time they were. Actually buddies is in. Bobby taught him everything he knows about. Set up a car bobby. Indeed you how to build a race car and how to maintain arrays car. He did it his way. And it rubbed off on Daryl on how to maintain a car that much true jared. I have a very important question for you. Yes sir. How many wins does Bobby Allison have in his rate? No no no no now. This is a test. How are we are we talking like blunts on the book or the like including Some of the other controversial ones. Because I know there's a. There's a debate between eighty four and eighty five. I listen you gotta you gotTa take a stand with others in eighty four ninety five. I'm going to go eighty five. I like bobby going good I I have to support him as much and he was nice enough to be the first big interview that ever got on our show. So I'm going with with Bobby Allison on anything. He does have eighty five win. I'll always say that. As will he the one question that I really did want to ask? Darryl was about the fact that they are officially tied with eighty. Four weds agent as I mentioned there. I think that's just proof that God has a sense of humor to drivers. That probably disliked each other. The most wind up todd in the record books officially did want to ask Darrell about that and to be honest with you. I kind of expected. Darrell at the kind of dance around the subject and to say that. Yeah they are tied. And that maybe bobby didn't deserve credit for that win. And maybe he did. Maybe didn't but he did say that Bobby won the rice there at Bowman Gray Stadium and nineteen seventy-one. He didn't know all the circumstances but he did know that bobby did win that race and that he actually did go to bill. French junior told him to go ahead. And Give Bobby Credit for the win. I thought that was pretty cool on Daryl's Park I think you're exactly right And really when you stop and think about it why not? We've all talked about bobby winning the race. It always bowling great correct. Yeah Yeah and he was in a Grand Merican exactly using a grain. A Grand American one time I think was going to grind east and so forth. But be that as it may. He was grand car one cup race. And that's why the victory was not officially recorded as a victory bathroom Daryl admitting that he won the race and going to bill France and saying go ahead and give it to. Bobby realized come on the truth is the truth. And let's deal with it. Jeter you take notes. I kinda winced this Osberg video. Come together I don't know man. I think I think I might. I'll I'll I'm definitely I take tons of notes about different videos and stuff Someone have to add this down to it? I just really quick I'm on became a Atta Because I know you guys are saying that they were big rivals and stuff When I asked Bobby Allison is actually really funny. The origin the question up after the so. Probably what you guys note. No the origin of the question but I asked him about his rivalries and he claimed that he never had a rivalry with anybody. Anybody this is Bobby Alison. We're talking about right. Yeah I differ. Okay talking about Bobby Allison of town Alabama not of Reno Nevada. Bobby Allison Eighty five win. Bobby Allison asked him about nineteen seventy-two if nothing else I'm thinking about nineteen seventy nine Daytona. Five hundred right. He said there was a disagreement in a Kales knows his fist. That's about it already. Said that's what he told us. He said they'd just the there's a disagreement down Three and four down there. Well as big a rivalry as darryl had with. Bobby Allison things kind of came to a head with the fans in nineteen eighty two when he was involved in a wreck at Charlotte in the world. Six hundred the Coca Cola. Six hundred and Steve is we talked about and Intro fans actually cheered. The fact that he was in this accident didn't know if he was okay. And all that you know there's a fine line between love and hate in Nascar and it is fun to bicker and defend your favorite driver against buddies favorite driver. And that's what makes this sport fun. Sure is the robberies. As long as it's good natured. Now when you cheer the fact that somebody's been wreck. That is way way overboard and I to be honest with you. I don't give a flying rats but how much you don't like driver. They are still human. They still have families and to cheer a driver who has been in an accident. I don't know that's that's a Black Hawk Fan and on the sport and unintended black mark on the sport but still is this is exactly one criticism has been given as over the years fans only go to racist to see rex. That's not true but when you cheer when a driver gets in Iraq especially if you don't know his condition that's exactly what fuels that particular fire while thinking a lot of cases fanc- the cars in the REX. And they do and they are about the flying sheet metal and the cars upside down and all that kind of thing but what they don't remember are they don't recognize or appreciate is the fact that there's a living breathing human being behind the wheel that Rice car and other? You lock them or not. They're still human being and to cheer something like that. I'M GONNA get off my soapbox before I get myself in trouble but after. Dwi is involved in this incident and he is booed by the fans. Larry Woody talks to. Dwi and Steve just to set up this story. Tell me who Larry. Woody is Larry. Woody is the longtime racing writer for the Nashville Tennessean. Which of course at that particular time is Darryl of basic hometown paper and you know the paper well yesterday. Well that's what he did and Larry was a very very competent. A professional writer my opinion I read a lot of his stuff and he could be very very funny when he wanted to be while he was also hard core. He was a combat veteran of Vietnam. So he could be a very no nonsense kind of guy one of my all time. Favorite press box.

"Across the finish line. No because as soon as as soon as everybody start a bolt over the wall the NASCAR officials went crazy and rich bars. Ignore him. Obviously three others went on went on and did it and chief stood there the whole time and all he wants somebody to do as he the lars off. Pull the wires. Pull the wires and we're like what she was talking about well. He wanted us to pull the wires off a Pearson Scar. The plug wire couldn't crank draft across star. Finish line first but no they were. Wouldn't that many that went across and those that did got a little bit of screamed at by. Nass carpet was all such a great event. I think they really enjoyed it. Steve You had some pretty big names on that team. Obviously you had Richard Maurice Chief You had dylan. I believe buried dodds was there was there at the time. What was it like to be learning from people of such a huge huge stature? The biggest thing I learned quickly was that it was compartmentalized. You had people that took the tank out every week and cleaned it and put it back in You had uncle bottle milliken. Who was Paddy's uncle? And he he dismantled all the wheels and tires and clean everything up and pulled. The inner liners out. You know the bunch of built things control arms and looked at the K. members. The front suspension pieces that came out of the car did a lot of magnetic flux and then across the street in the new buildings where they put everything together so everybody kind of had their job and what was good about my position was I was under Ritchie bars and he did a little bit of everything so I got to learn everything that was other than that. I don't think it had been dad enjoyable because my idea was to learn how to do everything as quickly as I couldn't and hopefully become good at ten point seven the that correct. Yeah Yeah Yes Jerry Cook. What was the reasoning behind that I had felt like for his modified? Yeah to risk point. I'd basically been in the in bigtime race in a year and I was concerned that maybe I hadn't learned enough to be where I was at petty enterprises in other words. I meant I need to step off here and see if I can do something by myself. So Jared Cook was looking for somebody for the year to run with him. He was at Bowman Gray and he said why. Don't you just come with me? So I mean grey. Yeah yes sir. I had everything I own was in three grocery bags and it was all close. I didn't even have luggage. And I jumped into the truck and went with him and I went from this incredibly big shop with forty people working in it called Petty Enterprises to Jerry Cooke myself and jerry nuts and bolts weren't in cabinets. They were chasing sanborn cans. And things like that. So if you get something done you had to do it so I felt like it was May till November period where we ran about eighty seven ninety races. And if something's going to happen you Jerry was going. We're going to do it and I it. It really made me feel like I was capable of doing something and then Some way tile on touch with me and said I'm going to start racing. He said Dad wants to know if you'll come take my car but anyway I just needed approved myself that I was worthy almost. Yeah so you do go back to level cross and you're gonna be cows crew chief. Yes early in his career. What do you remember about those formative years obviously you want it Daytona? Yeah but then the fishing I remember back. Then you had different heights. Spoilers that you boil that that you bolted on the back of the deck let. It wasn't a matter of bending things around us we just had different holidays. No minimum and We sent Kyle because he was comfortable as convenient so cool. You know he didn't he wouldn't worry about it with a in spoiler. Simeon Richard or H Richard staying on top of the trailers time and watch them. There wasn't much electronics. And he's what's boy you got on there and I said the inch in these and he got down that ladder. Neil Richards got a funny way when he walks really fast. And you know and that's what are we doing? He's yet in it. Get Five is gonNA hurt himself. But ultimately it all worked out and we won the race but After that Richard Wounded Tile to do a lot of things so we bought a car from Hoss. Ellington Bill Fat Rebuilt Fat. And he we want to inauguration Nashville drag somebody else's car and we got there in the car wouldn't bunch of things look scary on us so we came home and then we took the magnitude Talladega. I think we're in a minute Michigan things like that crash trying to qualify fourth of July. It was a bit of a rough year and I'm not really sure I know Lee was involved more than people know and I'm not really sure that there was enough money to race kyle or there was enough interest family wide to race cow. So Richard Kimmy that fall and he said you're coming over on my car and I said okay. That's cool so I went to work under Dale for Richard and when Dale left for Ostlund yeah after the Daytona five thousand nine hundred eighty one you were like co crew chief with weights Thornburgh. Yes Sir okay Well have you gotten any indication? Today was going to leap. And what was the team's mood after work? The first indication I had was when when Dale kind of choked up in Victory Lane Daytona and while Mary I'll be home tonight. I thought wonder what's wrong or maybe Mary sick or something. I mean that's how I mean we just had our heads down. We had no idea. No I really. Wow I saw. We saw one long conversation. There are two buildings that were parallel to each other separated by about one hundred feet of asphalt at the patties of a and we were in the building where we built cars ritchie bars. I across the street were Dale and Richard in a really long drawn out conversation in January that year. I thought we all know what's going on there but there was man they wanna clue which tales tales really cool about stuff like that but it was It was rough. People didn't know who is going to be the boss and how it's GonNa work out and all that way wasn't excited about being a CO crew chief. And eventually he's like man. Just just take care of that mass. You know I I I WANNA do what I've always done. It was it was tough we want to racists. We won North Spur on Michigan. We were happy about that. But by eighty two the load of I think running to cup cars with basically one cup cars budget had gotten a little tough and I decided to step away and go do something else now. At some point you did move on and you went to build cars during the wake. Who was that was that back with? Text No J. Hitchcock. Okay number one Richard Role Jay Hitchcock Bill Tech. I wasn't there but yeah. He's a pretty famous very famous late model stock car builder in High Point North Carolina. And you were also Ron Bouchard's crew chief here. How who was he? Running for at the time was farms and BB. Yeah Jack bbn Somehow Jack and Oh Man I'm I'm sorry I can't remember. His name is the guy that was in charge. Bob Johnson Bob Johnson head. Gotten Cross ways. And I can't imagine Bob Johnson. Anybody can can you will you? Change Taskforce Yes so we went to Daytona made some changes and talked about things and they said you need to be the crew chief. I I'm not moving to Connecticut. But we'll do whatever we need to do. So I ran third. There went to Nashville the next week and ran second went to Portland next week can ran third with jets excited. He you know he doesn't have somebody screaming at him all the time and rounded that somebody screaming at him either so they said. Just come to Connecticut's now I got a wife and two little kids and there. I'm going to travel my whole life racing. I want my wife to at least have her parents and you know all the people. She grew up with around her for support. Because I'm not GonNa be there that much so so They eventually hired David if David didn't go to Connecticut because they moved down and bought the dagger shopping and raced.

"Hope you have the happiest of holidays the merriest of Christmases and we hope that twenty twenty is the best year you've ever had so Steve Bobby? Ah Bonnie talked in this segment of the interview. I did with him. He talked about Tony. Stewart coming on board as his teammate. At Joe Gibbs racing the gaining in nineteen ninety. I'm not into things really stood out to me about about what he said number one. He said that in essence. Tony was a good guy behind the saints. That somebody that some of us in the media didn't exactly get to see some well. I agree with that also agree that Tony was a good guy behind the scenes. Because I've built right behind the scenes and I can tell you. Yeah he's racist very competitive and okay. I'll go in line and say that he probably has anger management issues early in his career. But when you got to know him a little bit and he got to the point where he was comfortable with you it was a different person. The second thing that kind of stood out about one talk about what bobby was saying was it was very apparent. That body was trying his best to not say anything that he shouldn't uh he was trying to play it pretty straight I can understand that. And then Steve another thing that really kind of jumped out at me about this interview. He finished second to to Dale Jarrett for the Nineteen Ninety Nine Two cup championship and he talked about sitting at the banquet watching Dj except all of his accolades and and he said that he was very angry. Bread yeah because he wanted to be onstage. He had chased. Dj All year and he talked last week about the relationship that he had with DJ and trading information and when DJ was on. And be leaving. Joe Gibbs Robert Gates dates and DJ was helping him trying to open the door. A little bit. Get his foot in the door with Joe Gibbs and all that and bobby said that they talked every day about what was going on on and what they could do to get the rods that they wanted but not to ninety nine Winston Cup Championship banquet It's a different story. Yeah no I'll know that he's necessarily surly Matt at DJ. I think he was just mad at the fact that he had come up short right. He was frustrated. I think that's the way to put it. Bobby actually said that he hit gotten deals autograph back when DJ was in the Busch series. and Bobby Lewis running late model so I don't think it was again. I don't think it was anything anything in their relationships I should show. It's not personal is professional more or less because when they get on the track but let's face it things whole lot different than they are off. The track. Friends are friends ads away from the race track but on the right track. I don't know that you rice a friend maybe a little bit harder. You see that a lot so the year two thousand rolls around and Bobby Ebony is on point is he ever Steve He finished sixth in the Daytona five hundred that year. He dominates at Rockingham the next week and wins which moved him up to second in the point. Standings it goes to the top of the standings after Las Vegas which was the third race of the year and Steve. That's where he stayed for the rest of the year with the exception of just one week after the first Talladega race where he dropped to second behind Mark Martin was his year no two way it was his. I mean they might as well written him the check. You know sometime around July say but he won four races including the brick yard four hundred and the southern five hundred. Steve here's the one that Kinda blows my mind. Hey finished all but seven laps about that seven laps the entire year and he won the championship by two hundred. Sixty five points over deller now that is consistency. That consistency is exactly great. Winning the championship by that point system was all about over the course never mind. I'M NOT GONNA go. Hey wanted over the course of the full season and yes. He clenched it with a rice to go but that was his championship and he absolutely deserved. It earned it earned it and at Darlington the southern five hundred. There's more to that store than just a number in the win column. He goes out and practice to make a qualifying run on. He gets up to speed going into turn. Three and Steve. The throttle hangs wide open and he plows into the wall. And that's the very same thing that had happened to Adam. Petty and Kenny Jeannie Irwin earlier that year so that was a pretty big story. Absolutely it happened to Adam and Kenny at New Hampshire and tragic results. He told Jimmy Amy my car he said I. I think I'd better go to the Infield Care Center. Just be sure and of course he goes on to win the race. which was the big story? Bobby Bobby said that Dale earnhardt Jr team was like yeah. We got him now. You know they. They saw bobby being kind of ginger around the race car. Kind of banged up a little bit. They thought they might be able to only natural form to feel that way but bobby goes on to win race then. Bobby talked about winning the Winston Cup championship which was obviously the highlight of his career. He was the only driver ever to win both the Busch Series Championship and the Winston Cup Championship. He the and Terry are the only brothers to have won the championship. Is that right. Yeah Okay Yeah. I'm pretty sure that's the case. And then he goes to Daytona one of the next year kind of walking tall chess bowed out a little bit as he should and everything happens on the last lap of the two thousand and one Daytona I. Five hundred and and Steve. Bobby actually made the comment that that took a lot of the fun away from defendant. His wants to cup championship. Well that is certainly understandable and bobby was not the only driver if you will that way and I might add a whole lot of fans felt that way too big earnhardt heart fans just had the wind knocked out of well. I think what happened. Was the questions change from. Hey Bobby what's it like to defend your wish to cup championship. How you think your season's gone there? Were still those kinds of questions but always always always always that year. They're going to be questions about Dell earnhardt questions about safety questions about the device. Soft walls whatever. Yeah all those temp ix that you just mentioned took precedence over almost everything else. Steve if bobby eventually left Joe Gibbs racing after the two thousand and five season and after that he kinda bounced around a little bit did some time with petty enterprises and Jt Jack daugherty racing tad and Jodi and then he did some testing for a tamer to and then stave he kinda got to a place where or he actually enjoyed having a weekend off every now and then rather than having to go to the race track and be head against Walnut being as competitive as he wants had been. I can understand that because I think many drivers reach a point in their career where they think. Hey this crazy I I'm I'm never home I'm always worried about how I'm running. I don't need this grief and take a different turn so two thousand and nineteen. He Goes Bowman Gray Stadium to kind of hang out with a buddy of his. And then the buddy he is Kinda says. Hey do you wanna come back to the race track and then the BUG Kinda hits. It's in he winds up barring a car to run a modified race or two at Bowman Gray stadium leave of his since the Steve. I'm GonNa tell you. Watch the truth fans at Bowman Gray Stadium. They take their racing sears. Yes series now. Let let me ask you this. What is another just overwhelming piece of Trivia about Bowman Gray Stadium? Well I can tell you this. I've only been there one time. Relay that's right. Never had the opportunity to go except for this one time but I think one legend about Bowman Gray that I think is pretty interesting is that there was a young young man there one time who had a job selling peanuts at Bowman Gray Stadium and dreaming aiming about being a racer. Well he became a race driver and then he became a team owner and then he became a championship kinship. Let's see what's that guy's name I can come up. That say you can think of it. Richard childress children children. Children are see Richard childress got his start selling peanuts and popcorn there. But that's not the piece of Trivia that was looking for okay. Okay what you're looking for yours truly for that one Houston. Oh One. Summer drove the pace car at Bowman Bowman Gray Stadium there. I gotTa tell you was a highlight. How did the mock career well? The fact of the matter is great garrison who is the promoter. There Bowman Gray has been in his family since it began. His grandfather was Alvin. Hawkins who basically opened the place and and Greg Garrison went to church with me. Obviously I had asked gray about driving the pace car tomor to end the year before he had actually let me drive it. A couple of races aces and I rode with the regular pace car driver. Mike Norman for wanted the rice is that not and then we switched seats and I drove and Dan. Mike Rode Shotgun and then for the finale the modified races. He got out of the car and said I'm going to beat traffic. I'll see you later. Yeah so I'm driving the car solo. My very first not ever been in the pace car so that was a blast but then the next year I got to grab probably five or six Saturday nights because Mike Norman actually raised a modified and the nights that he would raise. They would call me to you drive the pace car so you talk about some experience. All right I gotTa tell this one story there was one night the track would get. VIP's come in and run the pace car and there is this one night where it was a mom and her daughter and mom was probably in her fifties or so and the daughter was probably in her twenties. Somewhere in their mom wouldn't feel any pain. You mean that mom mom was lit guys you gotta the device so and it was eight atomic year when the do sat on the grass pretty early at night. They called a caution and gun the pace car which was a brand new Camaro so it had a little bit of horsepower. Gun The pace car out from where it sat and when those tires it hit the do on that grass man I did a full on Dukes of hazzard. Slide there the Infield as trying to get onto the racetrack and Mama the whole. Oh time is just so that was one incident and then another time they called a Colin and I got to where I was going to enter the right track and got on the right track and I looked in Rivi mirror and evidently at least some of the drivers had not gotten the word that that there was a caution and they were bearing down on pretty heart gay. So that was that was interesting. I'LL BET but again I've said it before on the show. The pace car driver is the coolest job in recent. Oh that was such a coal summer and and finally Steve the Nascar Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony here in a few weeks..

And so we've always had that physical link with basketball, but. You know, if there was ever occur grand to try to emulate in terms of quality quality, coaching quality student athlete experience and and high level results. "There would be a huge mistake. I would be really surprised if we don't see an influx of some more short track racing. The fans want. On it. I think NASCAR wanted the we have a track owner openly saying he wants it. So it'd be hard for me to magin. I'm not saying twenty I am. But at some point we're going to see six short track races stands now is probably too few. Well and Julia says are not short-track races. You know, we, you know, he's like hickories short-track man Richmond. Not as track and he's got a point those hickories of real. He's. Has a point when he says that that's a good point. Yeah. So you know, what shore tracks right really matter. And let me get to a point with a Cup car. You're not gonna run Bowman gray with a Cup car. I who knows. But you know, you gotta have a track that's a reasonable size for this type of vehicle making this much power this much weight, you know, attract a great late model race may not be great Cup race. So you got to keep all that in in mind, but a track smaller than you know, smaller than Richmond. Let's say yes, the third half a mile length and gotta have safer barriers. I mean, that's a big part of the discussion with Nashville is just making. Sure, it's yeah. I was gonna need some work. I mean, you know, my son's race in Nashville. And I've been there about every year for the last three years Nashville needs some it needs some updating you know, it needs some fan facilities updated. It needs some updating, but that can happen that all can happen. You know, we talk a lot about we talk a lot about the business about what's going on in the sport. Okay. And the rules package, but if the rules spec edge has the desired effect, we could be in for some of the greatest reysen you've ever seen in NASCAR. And that's something people aren't talking about. When fans talk about the rule changes in the fan say well, nascar's forgot us and NASCAR is doing this because of the money in whatever those generalizations are won't defense understand something I'm going to say, I don't know a number. But by far the majority of changes that have happened in the sport have been done for the interest of the fan now. You that listening today may not agree with what was done. But no one set in a mortem and said, let's piss the fans off. Not intentionally at least. No, I mean, no one some the stakes have been made. But those mistakes were made out of trying to make things better for the fans, not for corporate greed. Not for all the things in NASCAR has been criticized for and I've been critical NASCAR to, but I do think it's important to keep in context that when you when you as a fan heater change the majority of those things man there about the fans they didn't change the playoff format because they thought it would be less fun. Less citing might get it. You might not like it. I understand that. But I don't think that they that you use a fan should realize that those things were done in what was believed to be in your best interest. And I think I think that kids missed on. And I think that's unfortunate. But I do believe man, if this aero package has the desired effect the stated goal of we want it to be difficult for drivers we won't closer racing. We won't more excitement. We won't the best drivers to mean, something if all those goals are attained you could be in for one of the best years ever in NASCAR. Now, I'm not sitting here today saying that's what's going to happen because I've been around long enough to know. I don't one hundred percent know what's going to happen. I have a belief, but I could be wrong. But if things obtained I mean, damn, I mean you. Precisely or sitting on the possibility for having some of the best races you've ever seen. There's a possibility that if all every all the stars align and all in this strategy works at NASCAR is spent millions of dollars investigating and working with the teams to come up with if it works. We could be in for a great year. The mayor has spoken. We appreciate all the insight and time give today. Thanks Jeff for being. Thanks, right. Me Mets fun. So that wraps up our state of NASCAR and twenty nine thousand nine podcast. Jeff burton. Thanks so much for listening. Hope you enjoyed it. And if you did there is much good content to come with speed weeks and the Daytona five hundred just around the corner. Nascar America.
