"That spot. Now we see non playoff drivers there. Dale junior and I won, there's a non playoff driver. But we were never in a position to never race anybody where we had to contend the spot. We had a little new tires by Tony Stewart. Matter of fact, Dylan, I had this conversation on the ride home. Jeff Gordon was closing. And Dale said, one reason why I went by Tony with such force. By flaming by the way, is because I knew my teammate. Needed to win this race to advance. And if he got to my bumper and moved me, I had no recourse. I knew he didn't say if he passed me. He said, if he got to my left rear and sent me up the racetrack with two to go with the playoffs on the line, he was like, yeah, what's Rick gonna say? He's like, that man, he's in the playoffs. He's trying to move forward, like, you were the guy he had to get around? Like that would have been, quote, acceptable. So we raced knowing he can not get to our left rear. Flip that, right? Now, a non playoff guy drove with such tenacity to win a race, not his first career win, not as first of the year. His fourth win of the year, I don't want to discount the specialness of a win because it's huge. And I want them to race for wins. But that's the question in my mind. He drove so far into the corner that he lost control of his vehicle and wrecked a playoff guy. I'm confident Alex Bowman didn't know if he was good on points or not good on points, like he didn't know any of that. Now fortunately for Denny Hamlin, he was, but what happens if he wasn't? One happened if that would have been the move that limited for playoffs, would people have a different view? Same action different result when people have a different opinion. Those are all the things I question, right? There's a lot that goes into these decisions. Well, Alex Bowman felt as if he was justified because ham wanted taken him out at Texas the previous year and apologized for it. So he's like, hey, the shoe's already been on the other foot. And he also felt because the lab four 78 restart, Bowman took the lead after getting into him a little bit. And then just you guys said on the broadcast, I think, Burton was like, oh my God, he's getting over. He was Dale junior said it just he'd pulled out of the way and let Denny.

NASCAR Playoff Pulse: Analyzing the Field After Richmond

"Opening up the nascar cup series season with three wins in the opening. Twelve races martin. True ex junior went through a long dry spell when the weather warmed up. Well he's got his mojo back again. Winning the playoff race at richmond ending his summer slump a lot of tough lock and auto crashes and got caught in the rain a few times and some crazy things happen too so i felt like we brought goodspeed all summer. We had good cars for the most part other concrete tracks. Really kinda whipped us. But you never know how things are gonna go to x. Now joins teammate denny. Hamlin is around one winner. Who's locked up a spot in round two. Also clinching on points. Kyle larson trying to be one of the other nine drivers who are going to move on chase. Elliott is currently ranked seventh and fortunate to finish fourth at richmond following a problem pitstop when the reigning champ thought he had slid through his pit box so i just kind of took it upon myself to back up. Tj already hit the right side. Jack and at that point. I should know not to but obviously i wouldn't have broke the jack if i knew it was going to break the jack so i just didn't want to stop over the line. I thought that was just gonna make problems even worse so try to be cautious. Ended up hurting us. Worse after problems. At both darlington and richmond. Remembering Legendary Rolling Stones Drummer Charlie Watts

"Charlie Watts joined the Rolling Stones in the early days of the band 1963. It was a bit of a left turn. His early interest was in jazz, percussion and I love this quote from Charlie about joining the band, he said. It meant decades of quote, seeing mixed bum running around in front of me. Which in a way sums up what Charlie did. He provided the steady beat for the group, a group of rock stars who unlike him, embraced the rock star lifestyle and the limelight. Today. We really wanted to start by talking to someone who can help us parse out how important Charlie's worked with the Rolling Stones was Rob Bowman is a Grammy winner and professor of music at York University, as well as a music writer. He first met Charlie Watts in 2000, and two when he was interviewing him for a Rolling Stones book. And he kept in touch with Charlie ever since. Hi, Rob. Thanks for joining us. Good morning. How are you? I am. Well, I want to say I'm really sorry for your loss. Um, what was the first thing that came to your mind when you when you heard the news that Charlie Watts don't I guess. Shock so numb stand, you know, I've been worried for several years. Sooner or later. One of the Rolling Stones are just it was going to pass away or get sick and they were going to be able to play and, uh Couple weeks ago, Of course, Charlie announced Buddy, You've got an emergency operation and wouldn't play the tour and I thought it was so weird that they were going to do the tour without him, because that's not like them. Keith had always said they would never play without Charlie and figure it out. And, of course, when he passed yesterday, my meat so it is. That's why they decided to play the tour. They knew Charlie was dying, and Charlie. I told him to go ahead play. What do you remember? What do you remember first about meeting him? What was he like? He was an amazing, gentle, humble man with an incredible mind for jazz

"So many times that it's a hindrance is during the week he just goes somewhere and runs dirt and kicks her but to and then comes back so it the momentum never dies he never lets the momentum. Die for more than a day or so. He's back in victory lane on a tuesday. He's back in victory lane on a thursday. So i think that's a big part of who callers is right now. I think what was so impressive about him. This weekend to me was probably the saturday race when it took thirteen to fifteen laps for him to kinda methodically tracked down alex. Bowman and passed him to take the lead obviously. It ended up working out sus favor when he had the tire. Go down But just the way that he did that and you could see lap after lap after lap. Just a methodical You know attack basically and eventually was able to pass him and would have come home with yet. Another win had not had a tire failure. That was impressive to me brag. One of the things that we talked about on our last show might have been lexus. That made this point. Was we thought coming out of pocono that we would have a new points leader. It's it's closer than it was even with him. Crashing on the last lap. Yeah good thing denny. Hamlin finished second in stage two on the sunday race. Because if not then kyle. Larson would've taken the point lead because you know for as rough is. That was on saturday for larson's not win that race. He still finished night. He was still in the top ten. But yeah denny hamlin's point lead in what now. The last five races has whittled down from one. Hundred to just four and kyle larson is chasing him pretty strong but yeah hamlin just by by the narrowest of margins and i think that was that second place managed stage two was able to hang onto the point sleep. Enjoy it while you have any. Listen somebody this morning. Larson has four wins. Larson has the most second place finishes this year. and larson also has the most top five finishes with eleven. Dini has the best average finish. Okay so that's what's kept him in the points thing. He has the best not larson. Obviously in the rest of those races must have run really really bad because if you go ones in there yeah. It wasn't health that average believe me. It's like your gpa. In college if if you get a d. it pulls it down further than an apples. It up is that right alexis. Yeah near the smart when we're not grading on a curve here on a good. Yeah no math math. I get the no math from the person the graduate suma. Ku lying is not my i will admit a fully all right coming up on the show. We're going to delve into the good times. Hendrick Motorsports Nears Petty Win Record After 1-2-3-4 Result

"Hendrick motorsports the first one two three four finish for hendrick in its team history. Only the fourth time in cup history. That's been done in the first and the cup series since rosh benway racing team. You have some knowledge of two thousand five at the season finale at homestead miami speedway so just to give you a little context henrik has only been a four car team since two thousand and four so i one two three four finishing essentially seventeen years. I that they've been able to do that but you know what's your first reaction to that. When you hear the hendrick motorsports for the first time ever in what thirty. Seven years of history has a one two three four finish. Well i think about is two years ago when we were talking about. What's wrong with hendrick right. And we we. We had this expectation level of hendrik. That's pretty high. We expect to see them contending for championships winning the lottery to me to me. In the era that i raced in hendrick was the most dominant team out there and that faded faded over time and it was. They didn't jump right back into it. They had to work themselves back into it. And now here they are and they also invested you. Think about what they did. They invested in a lot of youth right so took brought a lot of young drivers and that has cultivated into a very young team with a lot of winners on it heading into right direction. This is the opposite of what we were talking about. Two years ago. I think hendrick motorsports is repositioning themselves to be dominant force. They won the championship last year. We chase elliott now chase elliott. That hasn't wanna raise this year and alex bowman's want to i know chase elliott fans. Think well that's not good but it is good if the guy that won championship you last year is the guy. That's not winning this year and everybody else has stepped it up. That's a good thing. Now they've chase elliott rezoning twentieth every weekend. That what that's not chase elliott's running okay. He's not been winning expecting to do. But but that's a good problem for a team to have. It's almost impossible to have all four clicking. You know what i mean. It's really really difficult. But i just i just i think a reversal of where we were two years ago. That's the first thing that pops in my brain

"Once again Carl Larson led the most laps in a race but once again he was denied a trip to victory lane as his teammate Alex Bowman picked up his second NASCAR victory of the season taking the checkered flag at Dover international speedway it was a late race pit stop the put Bowman out front any help off the field as his Hendrick motorsports teammates Larson chase Elliott and William Byron ended up in second third and fourth place respectively it was the first time Hendrick motorsports teammates had ever swept the top four and only the third time any team has done it in the history of NASCAR I'm Jerry Jordan

"Once again. Alex bowman welcome back to the program. Yeah thanks for having me all right over your shoulder here. It smelling pretty good. It's it's looking pretty good <hes>. You got in and out burger there for lunch yet. Not for me for the guys. Yeah my my trainer would kill me. <hes> he doesn't know that i had a double double animal style fries and a chocolate shake yesterday when i landed. So we're just not going to tell them that but but today since odds are he's going to walk in here <hes>. Not gonna eat that. Well you know this is broadcast and online and so he might find out some other way. Yeah we'll just we'll just send it and hope hope he doesn't all right. I noticed that they tony. You had like an all white fire suit. How do you keep that thing clean. You don't yeah that was <hes>. That's tough valvoline. paint scheme. looks so good firesuits. Look really good <hes>. I think all white looks really good. It's just so hard to keep playing <hes>. I think they have a couple of primaries this year so only got to make them last a couple of races but <hes>. It is tough there destroyed after one race <hes>. They wanted me to do that for chili bowl. And i said no way <hes>. Cj who drives my car he he got an all white suit for chile will and it was destroyed after after practice. Pretty much so <hes>. It is as tough for sure. The first thing. I thought of as that would not work in the days of thunder days. No for sure stuff used to get the pair used to move through the cars. So much more i mean. The cars were cooler inside because of it. Actually but i mean those guys would get so dirty back in the day. I just because there was so much more moving air and everything was sealed up how it is now. But now they're like <hes>. They're sealed up pretty tight. Except for when i went through the grass i had grass everywhere so <hes>. That firesuits probably half green at this point. But that's all right. Put mountain dew on that part of it. Yeah yeah if if they wanted to be on eighty eight car for sure. We're halfway there. You did a panting of matt benedetto. I saw it online. You can't get away from it but props to him. He kept the interview going yeah. He's not a very shy human being so it's one of those things we mess with each other. A lot and i did not continue the interview. I was very distracted by it. What happened and what was going on. So that was my way of getting him back so i'm really not looking forward to what comes next knowing him but i'm sure it'll be something i was gonna ask you. Expect retaliation probably <hes>. It's fun to make fun of matt. <hes> you know. He drives for that other manufacturer. But he's still just went and bought a another corvette so <hes>. We know he's at least got good taste and yeah he's he he just bought another is the are one. But you know. I saw the other day. And you know how corvettes have four taillights he. He had somebody take the tail lights out to like put tent on them. And like put different spoiler on the car. And they didn't tighten the bolts out one of the bolts up and one of the tail lights fell out going down the road. So that's embarrassment. He's got good taste in cars but yeah it's a little bit nursing. What what are you driving personally. No one of those. Yeah so he's actually copying me. He's got the same cars me now. He's he was going to buy the same wheels that i had on my car so i just sold him my wheels about something different. So we weren't matching but yeah you should go ask him about it because it's literally he's copying me. That's that's definitely interesting. Go out there and race. Yeah mine still going to be mine. Still gonna be faster though. So i mean it's obviously got the better driver so it's all driver of course nothing under the hood for sure now. Last time we spoke you were still working out the intricacies of assigned seating at movie theaters. Is there anything else technology wiser in two thousand twenty. That's baffling you <hes>. I don't think there's been anything yet. I'm sure. I'm sure there will be that movie. Theater incident was largely embarrassing. Pretty sure i'm never going on a date ever again. After that that was that was a struggle <hes>. But yeah nothing yet. I feel like something will definitely pop up and confuse the heck out of me and all embarrassed myself with it but nothing yet. Truth be told seventeen years. I've been doing this. This is the first time using my phone for notes. I used to use paper mainly because it was lighter. So i'm still getting into the tech stuff too. Yeah yeah there you go. I mean yeah. It's forever changing. Who would think that you have assigned seats at a movie theater. That there's twelve people and it just didn't make any sense. If i were just gone gone up one more row. Adam and just fine definitely definitely definitely all right so you got a bunch of sponsorships onboard this year. How do you keep track of them. All highest kelsey. What's on the car this week <hes>. Yeah figure out what shirts to bring. And and i mean it's it's written on my chest on the firesuits so i guess i could just look down and figure it out but no it's it's been really cool to have some new partners on board obviously <hes>. We have this week and chevy goods dot com and everybody. That's going to be out for the rest of the year. Really excited about all that so <hes>. It'll be neat. I think the black and gold car looks really cool so looking forward to seeing that on the race track. Lamar looks good to its new paint scheme for them so it only looks a little bit similar to the valvoline paint scheme. Just a little bit. But but that's all right. That's that's that's a good luck to you once you're inside it kind of looks the same right. Yeah yeah you can't see it from <hes>. From where i sit. So i'm here for it. Do you ever bring the wrong stuff to the track. Not recently so when i was driving for junior motorsports <hes>. We had a couple of different sponsors on the car throughout the year. We went somewhere in. Dave ellen's was the crew chief and really all the sponsors were the same color scheme but he wore the wrong shirt like the race day shirt. He warned completely wrong. One week kelsey did my pr over there. as well. and i thought she was gonna kill him so <hes>. It was it was a good day for sure with sports. Exploding ni- racing and that's something that you're interested in and doing. Yeah william started his own team starts. I started calling him. Mr be since he's got this big time. I racing team but <hes>. I wanna talk to him next time. I'm gonna ask him well. How does that work. I mean nothing physical yeah he. He's spent some money on it so <hes>. I don't know. That's i keep myself really busy with other things and i'm kinda maxed out at the moment. I think it's really neat. I play on. Ira seeing a little bit more to to play around and then taking that super seriously. Is it something you see yourself doing. After nascar maybe retiring you're eighty years old. You're sitting in your living room and you're still raising all that's gonna be so different when i'm eighty years old. Can you imagine what sim racing is going to become at that point <hes>. Maybe i don't know all probably be at a dirt track somewhere though

"Welcome back to the final segment of disruptive dozen today be creative with Keith Bowman for Keith. And the other founders of the Haystack. They found support for the ministry that got hot plays on their hearts. But unfortunately that's not always the case sometimes despite the energy and effort that you may put behind an idea. It just won't gain traction. It could happen for a number of reasons. Maybe it was just not the right time. Perhaps before you can really get the of the ground your circumstances need to change. Maybe you lose your champion. I was just talking with a friend of my own phone last night. He was telling me all his woes about not being able to find support. And it's true. It's it's crazy. Because he had a pastor in a church where the pastor was a visionary and he was like. Let's do stuff and so it's fully support on this big college. Campus Huge College. Fifty thousand plus students attending this. This College School Church has very small. And he's like okay. We're going to take over this college campus and then the conference made some decisions that made pastoring very difficult for him so he moved to Seattle right and so now they're left there and they're all on their own and my friend who's down there trying to do ministry goes to the board and the boards like. Yeah he was. We don't really want anymore. We never really wanted them in the first place. So these young people that have been starting to participate in the ministry and starting to come to church and all these things literally the Church said. We don't want them anymore. We don't we don't we don't WANNA change. We don't want young people coming to our church actually really like the way. We've always been doing things. So the support that he had was this one pastor and now no support exists so it's can be fleeting like it can be really fleeting so like. Where can you get support from stories like this happen all too often? The Church Young Visionary people tried to strike out in a new direction to impact the community around them only to find the local church they are part of is not really interested in trying something meal in fact they are very content to stages the way they are however there is movement in the organization there are entities are beginning to empower the next generation of visionaries to rethink how we minister to our modern world. There's some conferences doing simple things like for example. I Know Oregon. You can ask for you can submit a request for Creative evangelistic funds. And they'll they'll give give a pretty good amount. There's a shark tank. It's coming next year. The called convention where they're gonNA give out over one hundred thousand dollars in money towards creative projects. Another thing that we've done is we've sent me Requests for grants and foundations and we actually got thirty thousand dollars from one foundation to To boost the haystack. Which it it went. It was very helpful. It was very helpful. So I mean there's some of that creativity that you can do is going to grant writing and see if you can do something that somebody already has written. Wants to give money for. Because of the pioneering work of Keith of the Haystack just in case who also known as Dot Christian blogger or now I am listening with Justin coup and Caleb is Lee of humans of Ad Nauseam. The wider church is beginning to understand and appreciate the impact that this online digital approach can have on our mandate to preach the Gospel to the world and the organization is beginning to change especially after this crisis but it can still be discouraging to carry a passion for creative ministry only to be marginalized or pushed aside. So why should we persevere in the face of such assistance? You never know what the impact is going to be in. Jesus looks around. And he sees all these sheep wandering around without a shepherd and he says you know pray to the Lord of the harvest that we have more labors in the field and so he's looking around he's seeing Sam we more laborers and some people are casting stuff and they're catching one or two. Some people are casting stuff and they're catching hundreds. But you just keep casting like. That's that's the point is like you. Just keep laboring in the Vineyard for Christ whatever he calls you to. Do you just keep doing it. Because you enjoy laboring for Christ and bringing glory to God and then you let the chips fall where they may so the motivation is not necessarily and this is tricky. Because I think a lot of young people having grown up with technology like the phone in their you know they're always looking for the number of followers. I want to be an influence or you know like I want to be an influence. Or that's my goal. One day I got. I got to be an influencer. And it's like okay well That's Kinda the wrong goal. The the the right goal is I just WanNa be in love. I WANNA be in love. I WANNA be loved like I WANNA be loved for Christ WanNa connect with God so much that my my life shines love out in Christ will take care of the influence. Whatever your influence that you're given at that point is given to you by God and you just appreciate whatever it is. It's a little bit of a tough mentality. But I think that it's also freeing because it gives you contentment wherever God puts. The world is becoming more digital every day after this crisis that potential impact for the kingdom in this new world is immense but the laborers are few. God has a need for his people to stake out his claim in online domain. As we wrap up we ask Keith. For a final word concerning creative digital ministry. Here's Keith's final word. I Guess Yeah. Final Word. Be Creative because you love being creative. That's it be creative because you love being created you've been listening to disrupt avenues. We hope that too. They stop it. "Let's go if you have ever driven past met life stadium in the Meadowlands New Jersey. You certainly notice that enormously ugly mess of a structure once referred to by the Governor of New Jersey as the ugliest building in America situated across the parking lot from where the giants and jets play football each Sunday. That hideous building is the American dream. Megamall I remember the first time I asked someone what that building was. They just laughed and said that's a good question. They're trying to figure that out the idea for this. Massive Mall began to form in the late. Nineties and construction began in two thousand four. It was originally supposed to be an expensive shopping mall but when the economic crisis hit a few years later combined with the maturing of online shopping giant Amazon. The project hit uncertain times after several owners and many iterations. What this project would eventually look like. It will open in two thousand twenty. It will be more entertainment center than shopping. Mall developers of the American dream all got caught planning for a future which did not exist. They had all the right ideas for ninety s era shopping experience but did not pay attention to the industry shift to online shopping. I said unfolded in those early years of the new millennium. The Church has done much of the same armed with mid-century tactics for Evangelism and growth. The church has mostly resisted the changing technological revolution. The has place in the world choosing to hold onto yesterday's methods and not embracing the Internet revolution and falling behind in understanding how community and Communication Work in the twenty first century today. We'll hear from Keith. Bowman founder of the Haystack. Dot TV about how the church is slowly beginning to move digital modernization in its communication and ministry and some of the challenges that we still face so I was teaching his Bible class with his Really Old Bible Book which actually turned out to be really good. I love the new encounters training shoutout to Nina Atkinson. But the old one was good too. I thought so anyway. I'm getting down to the end. That very last chapter the book. And it's talking about technology and ministry and it's talking about how events were pioneers in the press the eighteen hundreds and HMS Richards was pioneering radio and the What is it the twenty s you know? And then we were pioneers and satellite in seventies and eighties and stuff and there was nothing there obviously about the Internet because they were printed before that became a big thing but I started realizing. Oh Wow we missed the boat on the Internet. I we were pioneers. And then we became like absent from the technological conversation and the Mormons jumped on it. I don't know if you've ever seen their their website all the stuff that they have and stuff but anyway we need to pick that up the struggle we face though understanding of how we as Christians should relate to engage with the Internet and technology. It is a challenge that not just adventists have struggled to get it right so we asked Keith why he thought it is such a challenge for the Church to thrive in the Internet era. Why I think that there is something that has happened inside of Christianity with basically made Christian separate from The world which is Kinda like what Christ says you know being in the world but not of the world but somehow it turned into. Christians aren't real people you know it's like they don't go through real issues. They don't have real stuff that happens to like real life can't be sung about or portrayed on television or things like that so for example if you made an entertaining video might look at it and think that it's funny but then say well it's not really appropriate for Christian stuff okay. Why not are Christians and allowed to laugh? So there's this this thing that's been created within the community that says that things that don't explicitly talk about God or aren't evangelistic are actually not defined as Christian rather than saying. Hey listen we as Christians can take over the entire entertainment industry. The Technology World Youtube market all of these things and make really quality content that has themes and ideas that are deep inside of the content that we create that speak to people's souls and speak to their issues that they're going through right away. That may not necessarily be the way we define it today as Christian Christians earn real people. A first may seem like a pretty harsh statement but as I thought about that statement. I begin to realize that they did. Christianity doesn't look a whole lot like the real people. I'm friends with an interact with day. In and day out. We love and hurt laughing. Cry Joke around and support one another through hardships and yes. We rely on God while we do that But truth be told. My faith lived out. Doesn't look very much like those Christian Movies Bible Studies. Don't sound like those youtube videos. Could it be the digital? Christianity has lost its humanity for the sake of being special so the question is why couldn't we make Christian content digital consumption the set squarely in the middle of real life? What's wrong with encouraging people or making them laugh? Yeah so like investing money in something. That's funny and does absolutely nothing else for the individual except make them laugh like how is that a positive thing you know because it's not gonna get more members in the church. Yeah so disinterested service you ellen white talks about that like all the time disinterested service you know. The Bible is kind of it actually alludes to that quite a bit disinterested service like Jesus when he's like separating the sheep from the goats is like. Hey you know you guys were like you took care of me when I was poor while I was hungry when I was naked. You took care of me. All of these all of these situat- you visited me in prison on. And they look at him and they say when do we do that? Lord and that's foolishness first of all because they know when they did it right they they did it all the time but the point that Jesus is actually making is that it's so a part of who they are that they didn't do it for the purpose of being saved. They did it because they just enjoyed being that type of person so like disinterested service to me is like this concept of becoming so Christ like and becoming so full of the spirit just like enjoying life to enjoy life. So I'm GonNa make something that makes people laugh which is great period. There's no other motivation behind it. It's just it's a really positive thing that uplift the world a lot lifts me and it makes everybody happier. Disinterested online service creating content in conversation in the digital space to make the lives of those we interact with just a little bit better. Everyone knows that sometimes just sharing a smile or acknowledging someone passing you on the sidewalk came. Make a different person. They share a smile. Online relationships work differently online. So what can we do to establish our online presence? I've started a ministry called the Haystack. I've started a number of different techy projects I started with a couple of Friends of Mine San Marino Jeff Tarmac and when we started it we were hoping that the church would embrace it trying to speak have conversation and stuff within the facebook and Internet world with young adults and youth and we went to conferences and churches and divisions in unions. We went everywhere. Everybody was really excited about what we were doing. But nobody would embrace it and nobody would support us in any way and So it's been a really really long journey to get to the place where the church actually did embrace it and picked up the haystack. And we've been able to try to support other ministries as well on the way in doing that but church is really slow to make those digital turns. It's time for a break. After the break we will hear more from Keith about how the Haystack Gut started and also the need for the church to modernize its online presence..

We're in the Boston market at as we like to drink whiskey to we'll be more than happy to help you go through and sample every barrel. That's out there. Yeah so talk about Virginia and how how they kind of embraced it. You guys you know and hung their hat on us like this is our distillery to you. Kind of have that with the state or Well we do. There's you know it's interesting last. You know up until the fifties were really only distillery in Virginia and now over the past five years Just the distilling industry in Virginia has really taken off. We've gone from you. Know being twenty small distilleries in the state. Now I think there's seventy in the state But I think a lot of people still embrace the fact that you know. Bourbon is one of the products and whiskey is one of the products that is made and has been made in Virginia for a long time. And there's a lot of people that Really really are putting out some great products and you know and I think it's. It's great that a lot of people look as Allman and they go. Oh yeah okay. That's you know. That's that's the model that we should follow For making a great Bourbon or a great whiskey in the state of Virginia and I think a lot of people a lot of people who have lived in this area for a long time they know us and they know our products and You know of course. They go to their football games and they had their bodily Smith Bowman. And that's that's our tradition. We have guys a little. Send me a eighty something years old. I've been drinking Bourbon since I was twenty so which is great to hear you know one of those legacy products that You know you just don't find the history and a lot of the smaller distilleries. I think that's a wonderful thing to be part of that history absolutely and I think You know you kind of you kind of struck something in my head when you started talking about elders went from you know. Twenty now to seventy. Do you see a lot of competition coming through your doors and saying. Oh let's go see what Qassim Bryan's up to over here. Let's see if we can take down a few notes in our in our. Yeah Absolutely I. We had a lot of that do that. We'll have a local distiller will say hey. Can I come up and walk through the distillery in and spend some time with you and I say absolutely can come through the distillery tours every hour on the hour? And we don't hide anything and you can. You can see exactly what we're doing now. We may not tell you exactly what we're doing. We may not tell you. Hey this is the Nashville is our doing this. You can see what we're doing and we're we're very were supportive. We WanNA. We really think that the industry has room to grow and we want to support them. But we also you know. I don't want the industry goal. In such a way that people look out and they see the smaller distillers and go. Oh they don't make anything good. So that's why we really want to support and say gap me. No you gotta put out a good product if you can see you wanna come in and see how we're doing things that's fine may not tell you a whole lot but you're welcome to come in and walk around so how the Bourbon Tourism Been in Virginia. Because like here it's exploded have you. Have you guys seen that as well in Virginia well for US tourism is a little bit harder than it is a lot of people? Go to Kentucky and they they go to Kentucky to go visit Stiller's For us a little bit different. We have you know we're right in the middle of alcohol historic where people are coming to see You know civil war were. The distillery site is actually a site of civil war battle. You know there's a lot of historic sites as far as the civil war revolutionary war. George Washington was actually lived. You know his boyhood home is literally across the river from the distillery so a lot of people come for the history and it's our our challenge is to get them to come and visit the distillery. Now I think the Virginia Wine Industry has done a great job. Getting people realize that there's lying in the state and then of course breweries have been doing pretty well as well So it's been a struggle for us as far as getting the visitors air but we still. This last year was almost thirty. Thousand people through the distillery You know obviously not. Hundreds of thousands of people that will go to larger distilleries. We're hoping that we can grow that and let people know. Now we're we're a distillery that's been here for a long time and we plan to be here for another eighty five ninety years. At least you got to figure out a way to get yourself on the history trail over there at the take a break from the capitals and all the Norton come down and yeah you do the capital. You go across the river to go see George Washington's house you grew up in. Oh there's this old distiller over here at all and we get the drink absolutely a count me absolutely absolutely. That's that's our whole goal is how to get get your like. Hey that's a really nice monument there but I mean that's an easy sell point for me to come in just a adults let's go. Let's go do that. You can see a mime in every single day if you wanted to but so I guess You know we're coming. Come down here to the end of this and I kind of want to get a little bit more information about really where you kind of see is is their expansion as there is their ideas of like how how much bigger can is. GonNa get in regards of like what you all are trying to do in regards to growth or anything like that. Yeah well right now. We're actually in in the midst of an expansion You know we're we're adding tanks we've added just in the past Probably GonNa say about a month. We've added about eleven angst or production We're hoping to add to our bottling line. Here Preuss Pretty soon to be able to pick up production because we really. WanNa you know. We're coming up some of the moves that we made a couple of years ago. When I came in five six years ago was increase some of our small batch production in Greece on John. Jay Things like that. In those those are kind of coming into fruition now and we're hoping to expand and make more that urban available but I don't think we ever really have any ideas. We don't want become this huge multimillion case distillery. We Wanna be focused on making the absolute best products that we can the best bourbon that we can find our best bourbon that we can produce and best best best vodkas best. Rum's we want to absolutely make great products And if we grow to be a large larger regional size great but that's not really are focused focuses to make a great product and Cesare supports that vision and are not like. Yeah that sounds great but we want to crank out as much as possible. Yeah no absolutely absolutely under present sport Making the best product that we can make very cool. Yeah absolutely and You know Shutout to to Matthew who is here on the chat He just said thanks for joining in. Brian was so great to actually learn about a brand. That's flying under the radar for a lot of the Bourbon geeks out there. Because like I said for myself learning more about the mashed bill and really how the operation kind of functions. And you know knowing that you're single girls are nine to fourteen years old like that's that's got some age on it for an coming for even most the Sak portfolio when you're looking at the the weller antiques. You're looking at six years old. Maybe seven something like that. So seeing of of of what's coming out of Virginia can't hands more or less bottles. That's for sure.
