Charlamagne Tha God: Dems Don't Have Anyone to Face Trump-DeSantis

"Here with Charlemagne the God, he's a real popular podcaster, I guess, and radio host out of New York. He was on Comedy Central over the weekend. Listen to what Charlemagne the God said about the Democrats having to go up against Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump. Well, we know in 2020 four it's going to be desantis and Trump, but I think we should scare people to get the Democrats going, nobody. Yeah. Yeah. So I disagree with that. I think we have a long bench, right? So we have Elizabeth Warren, who's a possibility. Come on. We have governor Whitmer in Michigan. It was a possibility. We have Jamal Bowman, who's a possibility. We have congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, the rest of the squadron. Will you be old enough button? She'll be old enough. Here's the other thing. The largest growing voting. You think America is ready to vote for somebody that have someone aggressive like that? Absolutely. They can't even get abortions. How are they going to be president? The large weight? The largest growing voting block in the country are millennials and Gen Z okay. That's her base that's her generation. She can absolutely get it done. And again, Jamal Bowman might be on the ballot in 2024. Who knows, right? It's about him. It's about shifting the consciousness of America and painting a vision of what's possible. No one on the Republican side can do that. And no traditional Democrats are doing that like our younger, more progressive base in the house. I mean, there's respectfully, I ain't nobody that can beat the Santa's to Trump. That's charlamagne the God. He says, I say this respectful. There's nobody that can beat desantis and Trump. An interesting how he put them together. You notice that? Wouldn't that be something? How about that ticket? How about a Trump desantis? Oh, I don't know, desantis Trump ticket.

"Worried about this round. All right, let me look and see when Chase Elliott has ever said anything positive. He will be anything positive. Listen, I followed it for this too many times where, you know, Martin or chase Elliott, oh, we're going to not be good today. Your car is terrible when they just, you know, we should have won by 6 seconds when I'm about to chase Elliott, he's the favorite to win this championship. I don't see how he's not. I mean, I don't need a favorite winner championship. He's got the most points. You look at the race wins that he's got. You look at the stage wins. He's the favor. And so in my brain, I got it moving on. You know, I got in. So I'm trying to I'm looking and saying, how do I feel with three spots? Not four. I got chase Elliott in golden city. So watching them this year. Okay, so if we just go back a year and you watch everything that Kyle Larson did, he could do no wrong. He could do no wrong. I mean, he spun at the rover. Got on a different sequence and comes back and then he's just in the right place. But you have the electrical. You know what I'm saying? So that's your year, man. And we've all had places. Our times like that. But what I've not seen from the 9 that concerns me when I look at it is those flashes of brilliance. They've just been solid. But you haven't seen that from anybody. But what I do like about the 9 is Alan. I like Alan. Alan Allen will put him in a position. To score points. Allen will put him in a position to win races. No matter what chase does in that car. Alan Gustafson will put him in a place and has that experience and has that knowledge and understands how to work the race and change his strategy when it is. So that is a huge one. For me, yes, that is a huge bonus for me for that man. And that's why I have the 9 going. Now you've taken me to a whole other place. Like crew chief experience. Yeah, yes. All right, hundred percent. You start looking at that and you're like, okay, Ryan Blaney is crew chief. Very limited experience. William byers crew chief. Very limited experience. Ross Chastain. When I say the experience on the championship championship, Sunday, when you walk in that racetrack. Nervous. Christopher bail just moved to the top. Right, Christopher Bell Adams. Yes. Two championships. He moves up. Yes, he does. I love the show. You got Alan Gupta. You've got Paul wolf. That's right. Got a chance, you know? Gay bar doesn't, but gay parts been through this battle many, many times and knows what he's doing. And so gay parts solid. So with Larsen out, does that help or hurt the two handed drivers in? Helps. I think it helps. Yeah, I think it helped because it's the focus on that. On these two, I think the same thing with track house, it helps Chastain because now we focus on one car and it helps the 14 car. Now we focus on chase Briscoe. I think it narrows that focus. The more we get to the end. The teams themselves there are the focus. I mean, simply for me, and this is no, would you rather race against the 5 or the 14? Yeah. And I'm not being disrespectful, but only the 5 cars defending champion. Yeah, that's right. They've got a race against the 14 and the 5. Now the 14 might go into championship. Yeah. And it would be really cool to see. It would be really cool to see tensions. But that 5 team has been so strong all year long. I think they've been a stronger team. So even as my teammate, I won't eliminate them. That way, I don't have to deal with it. So let me ask you this. For years, the drivers and teams would have told you you have to win in this round to make it to the championship four. In this day and age where there are so many talented good teams now outside of the playoffs, does that still hold true in your opinion? Not for me. You do not have to win and the round of 8 to make it to the championship four. I think you've got to be solid in this round. I mean, really solid. And I mean, all day long. All day long. Points. Point. I think you got to be like, you know, we used to come out here and they used to run these things and before you had a bunch of this stuff and they'd say, well, if you can just run it in the top 5 or 6 in all three of these races, you'll be good. No, you need to run in the top four or 5 in every stage of all these races. And then you'll be good. You know what I mean? Then you'll be good. Okay. Well, listen, I think that so clearly you don't have to win because there's three races and four going. So you don't have to win. It clearly makes that path away much easier. I think that we'll get at least two that win. And that means you got an incredible point race. Yeah. All right, so now to the caller's point earlier how important points are. Well, I'd make the argument that points are more important today than they've ever been. Like, look at how you get to the next round of the playoffs. The only race where he points don't no longer matter is Phoenix. So people get to the next round by points. And what was the stat we had in almost half of the race, almost half of the cutoff races that the guy that transfers is by three points or less or less, yes. I mean, three points or less and almost half. So points matter more than they ever matter. Right. And when I say that, yes, points always determine the position now points determine they now take more people with a chance to win a championship than moving along. And point, I mean, they're just pay such a role in this.

"First round, the second round, I'm amazed at second time it is. How tight it is. It's great. It's like one and that's why, and then not only that, but in round one, and in round two, chase was like, oh, let's make it interesting. I'll just give you all my bonus points back. My first in this first race. You know what I mean? So that has made it. That's made it extremely important. They made this point for the beginning of the playoffs, or all these playoff points that didn't exist this year in the playoffs, guys. It's true X was not in it. And that's crazy. And Kyle Busch out early and then just it's made it so tight this year. It's made insane. I think what's fun is Chastain, Christopher Bell, chase Briscoe William Byron. I think that's what makes it fun. Is that you've got and I'm not putting, I'm not putting Blaney in there because he's an old soul. But you got all these young guys. That are coming to do battle against chase Elliott, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin. I just, I just think it's going to be fun to see you use going after the great. It is a lot of fun. It is that true, it is that true, like when you, when you look at the sport, it's like when you came along, there was a shift. There was a shift that went. All of a sudden you and Bobby and ward and you guys, you were competing with these guys, and it was like, there was that mixture. And when you get in those years so that's a mixture of the old and of the game. It's fun. Those are the cool years. Those are the cool years. So look cool when you're young and you start being mixed up. That's not cool. That's not cool. Let's look at these tracks real quick. Vegas, Miami Martinsville, if you had to pick a driver or two, Kyle, who would you say this round favors? Okay, so we were talking about this before. For me, I looked at Logano and a Hamilton, our Hamlin. Why I said Hamilton. I look at these two guys because it's just right in their Wheelhouse. You know, we've watched Joey win at Vegas with a car that should have been a 5th place car. We've seen Danny drive from tenth or 11th to win the race at Martinsville. I mean, these are races that just fit their driving styles and the way they approach racing. So for me, those were the two guys that stood out. Do you have how about you? Well, I've had Christopher Bell from day one. I just feel like that he's in that position. In his career, I feel like they've got good equipment. And I think the Toyota's have gotten better. I think they're past their bad tracks. I think now it's good. They got their good track of them. So I think Christopher Bell, I feel really good about him. I agree with you on Denny Hamlin. And Denny Hamlin and you guys in the post race said that I think he just worked perfect that it couldn't build three better racetracks. Yes. And I agree with, I agree with him on that. I think they do lay out perfectly for him. You mentioned Logano, they just hadn't had speed. Well, I know, but they were so good at the Miami test. I know they did some stuff to be a little quick, but they're good. I think they'll be very good this round. So I just so torn on Blaney. I'm so like there's times I see them. It's so fast and there's other times I see them and they're like. And I think this would be their weekend

"That as my official nickname here on NASCAR. All right, man. Myself included, it seems that NASCAR is becoming sports entertainment instead of an actual motor sport because of the way the playoffs are handled. Not only that, but the NASCAR has also delegitimized the championship with a how should I say, and more deserving champion, not winning the title, more often than not. All for the sake of entertainment. Now, don't get me wrong. A sport can be entertaining without being called sports entertainment. So I do have a proposition that UK is going to discuss. We can do away with the playoffs entirely, go with a full season points format. And you can keep the points payouts the way they are, or you can go with an F one style points payout format. But what do you think? Should NASCAR do away with the playoffs? Yes or no? Are they to play also awesome? Yeah, no, they should keep the playoffs. Yeah. Listen, I think here's what I have to say about that. I'm not saying you're wrong. You are entitled to your opinion, okay? For sure. But there is no integrity lost. In racing, by having a playoffs. Why don't we in other sports? Why don't we say, hey, the team that wins the most games during the regular season, they're the champion. Why don't we just do that? Yeah. Like it's okay in every yellow sport. Why is it not okay in this sport? I understand some traditions don't like it. I get it. I understand why people don't like it. And I'm not saying that you're wrong because you don't like it. But what does that fix? And all the conversations that we're having about these issues, what does that fix? What if the point race is a four point battle with four races ago in this same thing happens? That doesn't fix anything. So the only thing it does is it puts it back like it used to be. Again, I'm not saying that he's wrong about he used to be. But this system, I don't know of an undeserving champion. No, I don't either. Who's the undeserved? I don't know what that comes about. Playoffs have created so many moments. But this is all out and this is always my answer. My dad won 7 championships under 5 or 6 different point systems. No. Everything was always. It's not always the same but it's not always the same. But the point of that is I say that because the point of that is, everybody that pulled a car out on the racetrack that day raced under the same point system. And that's all the playoffs are. We all know what the rules are. They know what the points are. They know what the system is when they roll out there. So I like the system. I like to see guys put it all on the line. Listen, the point system, if you don't believe these guys, live and die this, let's just roll that footage of Daniel Suarez trying to hang out. Just to keep a point. Just to keep another point. They know the system. They know what they have to do. I like this system. If we were in a 36 race point season, Daniel Suarez Pitts. Yes. Oh, sure. For sure. They fixed that car. That's right. Now, again, I don't mean to be little your opinion or by any means. Everybody has a right to their own opinion. I just, I just can't do not agree at all that anyone's won this championship and hasn't been a deserving champion. I just completely disagree with that statement. But a couple of things, is there a concern on NASCAR's behalf to Josh's point that things overall lately are going too far? Because I hear that word circus a lot. Things are kind of getting out of hand. Is that a concern? Listen, we've had this is your opinion on it. This has been and I'd love to have this conversation with whomever. This has been one of the best years of racing in this since I've been watching racing. Yeah. You were watching a way longer than I have. Agree. Not every race has been the greatest race in the history of the world. Never is. But we've had a season full of competitive races. And we're in the middle of air playoffs. So we've spent the last four weeks talking about everything. That's right. And now listen, there's some important topics. This is a very important issue around this sport. No doubt. But there's been so many good things that have happened in this sport this year in regard to quality of race. And yeah, it's gotten murky. I agree. It's got murky. I agree with that. The other big news of the day, Alex Bowman, Hendrick motor sports announcing that Alex Bowman will be out for the next three races. So that leads it a lie that he could finish out the season at Phoenix in his hometown race. Noah Gregson will continue to fill in for him. We're certainly thinking about him. Kyle, Wright call for Alex to at least say, I'm taking

"That spot. Now we see non playoff drivers there. Dale junior and I won, there's a non playoff driver. But we were never in a position to never race anybody where we had to contend the spot. We had a little new tires by Tony Stewart. Matter of fact, Dylan, I had this conversation on the ride home. Jeff Gordon was closing. And Dale said, one reason why I went by Tony with such force. By flaming by the way, is because I knew my teammate. Needed to win this race to advance. And if he got to my bumper and moved me, I had no recourse. I knew he didn't say if he passed me. He said, if he got to my left rear and sent me up the racetrack with two to go with the playoffs on the line, he was like, yeah, what's Rick gonna say? He's like, that man, he's in the playoffs. He's trying to move forward, like, you were the guy he had to get around? Like that would have been, quote, acceptable. So we raced knowing he can not get to our left rear. Flip that, right? Now, a non playoff guy drove with such tenacity to win a race, not his first career win, not as first of the year. His fourth win of the year, I don't want to discount the specialness of a win because it's huge. And I want them to race for wins. But that's the question in my mind. He drove so far into the corner that he lost control of his vehicle and wrecked a playoff guy. I'm confident Alex Bowman didn't know if he was good on points or not good on points, like he didn't know any of that. Now fortunately for Denny Hamlin, he was, but what happens if he wasn't? One happened if that would have been the move that limited for playoffs, would people have a different view? Same action different result when people have a different opinion. Those are all the things I question, right? There's a lot that goes into these decisions. Well, Alex Bowman felt as if he was justified because ham wanted taken him out at Texas the previous year and apologized for it. So he's like, hey, the shoe's already been on the other foot. And he also felt because the lab four 78 restart, Bowman took the lead after getting into him a little bit. And then just you guys said on the broadcast, I think, Burton was like, oh my God, he's getting over. He was Dale junior said it just he'd pulled out of the way and let Denny.

"And he still can't drive. We got him. We do what we had to do, but like I just wanted to race there at the end and just, you know, he's just terrible. You know, we talk about all the time. We want drivers to show their emotion. Obviously, Denny Hamlin was very displeased, showed his emotion after that race by preventing Alex Bowman from doing his victory burnout. Were you okay with what you saw from Denny Hamlin? I didn't love the altercation on the front stretch for more than the reasons I think everybody assumes. It's not so a little bit is, I believe, hey, the winner is the winner, and you have to kind of respect whether you completely disagree with how he got there. It's kind of this moment that the person has earned per the NASCAR rule book. They claim human as a winner. The second part of perhaps more importantly for me is I think his actions in the race car diminished his actions in front of the microphone. And I believe that Denny, when he got out and said what he said about Alex, I actually don't feel that was a motion fueled. I think that was a calculated Denny Hamlin, giving your opinion about another race car driver he drives with that in Denny's opinion. He isn't as talented as his teammates, which is amazing, thinking he has four wins this year, but I'm just going off what Denny said. Me reading Denny's comments. He doesn't feel he's as good that he felt like he got wrapped not on purpose, but it felt like he got wrecked because the guy didn't have enough talent to not reckon. I mean, that's kind of how I read his comments, right? It's a hack job. That isn't, you know, that jerk wrecked me. That's not what he said. He said it's a hack job, which basically, you know, if me and you or golfers and I say you're a hack, that means you're not any good. Man, don't play with Nate. He's a hack. He can't hit the golf ball. It's not fun. When you call someone a hack, that tells me that you say you don't have the talent to try to do or to justify what you're trying to do. Those are the words that I expect Danny. That's how I take what he was trying to tell me. The problem is, after the shenanigans on the front stretch, I'm kind of like, does people rather even listening to what he has to say? Right. That's why I wish that wouldn't go on. I wish it was done because I love sports. I love rivalries and I love disagreement and we don't have to agree on which side we're on, and I think he has every right to say whatever he wanted to do and you can liken boo cheer. That's not the point. He has every right to say it and I think that was diminished because of what happened on the front. So you love the emotion, just save the emotion for just the interview. Don't necessarily do it in the front stretch and unconventional. I'm going to stop your burnout stop your celebrations. Yeah, I mean, there's a lot that goes into it, right? And there's a burnout interview. There's people in the front stretch. I'm not gonna defend any of it. I've never been a race car driver, so I don't know what it's like to sit in there and how they see this car as an extension of themselves and they feel it's fine to put this whatever. That's their business. I Denny Hamlin in his race car on the front stretch is Denny Hamlin, the race car driver. Danny Hamlin out with his helmet off camera in front of him, face on screen is a NASCAR superstar. The fan can relate to the driver they can see. The fan can't relate to the guy behind the wheel. So I think for the good of the sport and for the good of the fans, get out and say it. It's kind of like sometimes I feel like drivers behind the wheel are kind of like people behind a keyboard. It's a lot easier because you've got a helmet on in your hidden. When you're willing to take all that comfort away and double down on your comments, those resonate more with me. So let's talk about what Hamlin said and ask, I want to frame this in the most respectful way possible to Alex Bowman, but ask if Denny Hamlin has a point. And what I mean by that is I'm not saying Alex Bowman didn't deserve to win this race. He had a very fast car. He put himself in position to win it. But a lot of people I saw on social media were asking, you know, why didn't Denny Hamlin just allow him more room? And I think Jenny Hamlin's answer is I did allow him more room. Like I was watching the replays this morning, it looked like he gave him a lane, maybe lane and a half for a few laps there, and then when Alex Bowman made the move, he couldn't hold the bottom, he slid up and he took out the 11. Does Denny Hamlin have a point to some degree that Alex Bowman didn't make the past the way a driver should make that pass? So he didn't. And I don't think he made the past the way he intended to make the pass. So yeah, he did say that it wasn't until my analysis of what I saw on the racetrack as a guy who's never driven Martinsville, but watched, we'll call it tens of thousands of laps there. Denny Hamlin races Martinsville with the scalpel. Pre calculated what he does and where he puts his car. Reminds me a lot of Jeff Gordon, who I was fortunate enough to win there. I've seen him do it. I believe that Danny gave Alex Bowman an ample amount of room to race with reasonable contact for a race win. I think Alex Bowman lap after lap after lab was unable to make the pass and eventually purely a mistake that over the limit of his car under braking, car gets loose. You have to turn right and that carries them up into Denny. He spends Dany out. So it's really, I don't think there's a debate on what happened. The debate is, is it okay for a non playoff driver? To take his car to such a limit that he can cross over and rec a playoff guy or any driver for that matter. Where is good hard racing? Is it, you know, like he didn't hit him in the rear bumper. He didn't reckon. On purpose, but he recked him. So it wasn't malicious, but does it make a difference? If the result's the same, I mean, that's really the question. Everybody has come up with their own answer. I don't have an opinion on it. I mean, it's fascinating to me. I believe in my heart 5 years ago, a non playoff driver does not contend that spot. By flaming.

I think the beautiful thing about having a child on the spectrum is not every little thing is pretty much aha moment no like when there is therapy and day do something that therapists wanted them to do or he or she looks at you when the animal noise that you were practising for a month. He finalists said it. I've had on. I share on my blog. All the time about it really has made me stop unjust marvel in person. He is what he likes. You know and i truly appreciate everything. "This is great and then he's packing up to leave again so my husband really didn't start to understand the traits in symptoms until shore duty moving to pensacola in december. Where we were now. Living the average day american eight to five job where he's home all the time and he started seeing like okay. Something's not right. I see and then how did you both handle it. I mean some people get angry. Some get depressed scare. Most parents are saad scared. They went through the motions. My husband was super upset about it. It took him some time to come around to it which the me you would have thought it was a celebration of joy. When i got the diagnosis or sing. I did was get on the phone. I called therapists. I got on weightless undone one of the things i did for myself reach out to a therapist on behalf of wing. I can't do it if i'm not in place mentally. I cannot be the best turn i can be for my child and so i thought it was super important for me to have a space for meat event. You know. it's hard not having a physical support. So i knew that's one of the crucial steps. I had to take in order to just get on this journey with having a autistic child. That's very smart for many reasons which will talk about a little bit more later in the show. So tell us with your child's you know everybody on the spectrum is in a different place right. It's a wide spectrum. zaveri vast spectrum. What does a bad day. Look like for your child or for your family. So i'm back day for us would be. I don't know if you have or have experienced this firsthand with children with autism who have absolutely no fair in what they do. My child is fair less on their day. That i was home in the backyard and i took my eyes off him for one second and he was gone. I freaked out. I knew that we had a small gop in our fence. And so i knew the only place he could have escaped from by the time. I got to where he was not. He was about to cross the street into oncoming traffic. And luckily i had a neighbor who was the sweetest person was always outside always gardening. He saw my son threw his body into traffic to like stop it. Oh my gosh and my son finally like realize what was happening on. Run back to me. And i just remember walking inside the house sobbing calling. My mom was just like. I know. I'm not crazy like these are all signs like something's going on you know and it was very hard breaking news to my husband because it's over email and how could i tell him that i am. Not mutters intuition. That's kinda just like my message for today. Trust your instinct when you know. Something's not right with your child advocate for your child. I can't tell you i mean. The percentage of parents that talk on this show that we're told by their doctors or their family that there was nothing wrong with their child is through the roof and obviously the people that are on the show. Something a- diagnosis came to their family. And so it's just friends and family are giving the wrong information to their loved ones and they're trying to be helpful. I mean you're telling him this over the phone. I have to imagine that you're seeing some signs or did you tell us about letting your husband know about your thoughts. This was rough. We don't have phone connection. Often being on underrated deployments so they rely heavily on email. Okay for me to tell my husband who has worked sixteen seventeen hours days. But i i actually before cova d- had Worked with people in in other cities who had just heard of me through friends So i had a little bit of a online experience before cova i. I prefer working in the same room Just because especially with trauma work at. It's really there's something just intangible about being in the same room with people but i have found being online to be more effective than i had feared. I really really feared it When we started. So i'm seeing people All over the state. Although most of the people i see are still in in my area. When i said i would go back to in person when i was fully vaccinated Only about a third of my clients wanted to come back in person because it's so much more convenient online sure that kind surprised me before cogan. "Met him in on halloween night for the first time oh Remember that he killed frankie blue. Seen on june of ninety eight. They had put a hit out on him. She blue-state the data. Frenchie was seen was big guy in the jean shirt and a green light out on jeans and i'm sure clifford told you will have access chicago and not lost doors and told them anything happens to my lieutenant if you kill him i'm gonna come back here until town of yours. That did happen. When i met jean smith that night. You wanna talk about you guys. Were very nervous because my firm and my biggest decision going forward to law enforcement. Which should i go to the fads or should i go to the local well. I didn't trust that okay. You read my book. You'll find out why in the end. But i also knew that metro had been dirty. Would y'all blasco okay. So there was one cop that i knew that they hated and so he must have been strafed and that was shot blue state so that gave me comfort because believe me at time in las vegas in high would gene wrong. I yeah that would've been say hell. Yeah i remember at that point in time see we were member of what we call the law enforcement. Intelligence units is a national organization of intelligence units across the united states. In las vegas had been kicked out because of dirty cops in their unit and joe blasco was in that unit and he had another sergeant out there. The case will when can't clifford took over that unit. They got the new sheriff in. What was his name. Mccarthy got the new sheriff ed and he cleaned that out and clifford as a heck of a story about cleaning it out said he walked into the unit. And everybody's wearing these high dollar letter coats and jewelry and the half. The units is at christmas time. And it's filled with cases of liquor and he's award. This come from they said came from the strip. We get this and he said you know he said guys remove that and he said. I never want anything like that again. You're not to take anything from anybody. And then he started weeden amount the job lasco's and and he cleaned up just about that time. So you're right at the formation of the new and and they admitted him back into what we call elliott and they've been a back in ever since the sheriff's department always thought was a little bit dicey out there. They had some people. Actually this was just before. Can't clifford that. They used to investigate do background. Best gatien's for casino owners when it was actually just the sheriff's department before it was metro which was sheriff and local when they blended and i met one of those guys. He came back to kansas city. It was done some background. He was dic- man. I can tell he was dicey as l. I didn't know what was so my next question. I think is. We're getting up here about thirty minutes. Do you remember when they put sal romano in with that crew and ernie davino told me a couple of stories. Ernie davino told me that. Sal romano that tony latera wanted him in for some reason i think he was an alarm guy in in a pretty decent. The've frank lada claims that he was warned by some chicago. Coppers that ramana was dirty but ernie tells me that romano had an apartment that he said it just looked like it was a set and it looked like that he had a girlfriend that they said was airline attendant. So that's why she wasn't hardly ever around out to me. That says the fbi set him up in an apartment that they wired up and gave him a lady fbi. Adak lexi was a girlfriend and be around with. Did that happen like that or am i reading too much into that. Well can't honestly say. I can speak for what i did was metro intelligence and they had a an undercover apartment at park. Generous was complex. I because i was in that apartment several times when we did the control advice on stands it. that's where they would strip search me from before the controlled. Why do it properly and wire me up. And that's where that was done. And then i would go out with detected cordell pearson was. Why did the control done buys on getting back to romano. And i'll get and you'll read about this in my book. I had done the major damage and given metro big time intel on the hole in the wall gang and actually yobs that they had done that i participate. That's why metro end bringing to data's arnold the jobs. The don campbell was to debrief me. It's take statements and then they were gonna use us. Initial tomat- cases are on the hole in the wall game. But what happened was in the process of doing that. They flipped sal romano lacaille but we had already gotten the ball rolling and like i said franken already gotten nailed on the possession of stolen property which i was one hundred percent responsible which is what he ended up doing time over and swindon convicted april twenty four of nine hundred eighty two. And then i'll get into some of that later. No i didn't know. Sal romano other than what i've read about him. I didn't know i'm out on the street. Personally let yeah. They probably did do that. I believe they slipped him. Sometime in the spring of eighty one just a few months before the july for burglary and i was doing my own thing metro. So let me say this. Even though they formed the organized crime task were they really didn't like each other. Okay in fact. Jean smith call me. I don't trust them. Mother efforts yeah. And i said well that makes me feel good. Now that you're going to you know thanks. Recreate your honesty. We really formed our relationship him idea over this year and a half that went on after they David i know feeling. I had a gal once and i say we got to go. I gotta take your attorney an fbi agent about what we've been talking about nice and i'm gonna tell you i don't trust them and they've told me that you has turney said now he's never gonna front you out in any matter and it wasn't six months from then he gets older may say you know we gotta have your gal down here to grand jury. She got testified. I had to go tell her. Sorry but he says you gotta testify. I know. I promised you wouldn't but you got to know she was mad so that happens a lot lower. I get something going and then you have a in what the us attorney's office and they just throw you the wolves in a new york. Second so i appreciate situation there so go ahead. I'm sorry. I interrupted you. Know no yeah absolutely right. And like i said we were like as i like. Gop leaders like bill. Walsh and i was on because it was our championship season. We did what we set out to do. Because when i first met her i told that i believe the kaleida role and he looked at me like ours. You gotta be out of your mind but yeah he looked at me and i was trying to shock you. Well i don't know about the accident. He says outing guys are pretty hard core. When i should run. We'll see when. I was bright in the end because after i got him on the furniture and he took all on versus but the real kill. John was when i was five. Control brad vise on jerry. Because he was got married too anxious. Dan that's what most people owner stand about family inside thing known that stands as as i did rears before i ever met frank. I knew.

"So i was handed the young guide they were grooming and like i said i established myself on the street as of pretty good coke dealer and back in those days hours of the deal because everybody was doing cocaine back. That's probably if you want to get right down to. It was the root of why the whole thing from interesting. I've got you here. I wanna ask you a question about that cocaine business house. A guy like you get a decent connection. I mean you weren't connected directly to colombians. i don't imagine but how did you may. You're like a user and then your dealer you start selling a little bit. That's how you get that connection. Yeah later said earlier. I met some a couple of guys. Money in one of them was named larry numeral. It wasn't lurch larry newman. I talk about this in my book. He was from columbus georgia and his roommate was a guy from waterville maine so and they were all college age guys and just kind of how everybody net loss day lived in an apartment or condo pool. And everybody's hanging out in the jacuzzi swimming pool laden san then ended up going over to somebody's plays and this kind of holiday began. They were those guys style. The connection out there and then my brother ended up leaving to go back to colorado. Probably what was june of seventy eight and so from then on. Larry newman moved in my place and him an icon partnered up and started business. And that's how it began. We did lows slugs or connections. It really is kind of an underground society is really what it is the drug world. You got the math people where you got the co people you got the ill people it really is. And it's an underground community. That's how it works and that's how you meet people. Yeah people middle people and through drugs oregon. So david you become an associate of frank. Lada and his hole in the wall gang but somehow you end up becoming associated with the metro intelligence unit and can't clifford who led it and by the way folks i can't clifford is in my movie. Gangland wires able to interview him. He was one interesting guy as david will attest to. I never met jean smith but those guys are they were gung ho they were. Let's kick ass and take names with the mob out there a more so than usual with intelligence guys you know. I worked intelligence unit and we mainly just followed people and took their picture. And got on rosen behind windows and watched him tried to find. Informants like yourself david and we didn't really go out and follow people and stop at end up in any gum gumbo. Nobody ever came close once. But i thought they were gonna shoot me. I was just gonna get out of there but anyhow so how did you end up getting hooked up with them. Did they get a case on your something. Not sure i jame to them on my own. And that's one of the things to make very clear to people when i was involved with own wall gang guys i straight up at wasn't informing on them panel intention of informing on them. All happened was i had given. Well actually earn the score. I participated in score of a cuban drug deal with the idea. I tossed to him. They went over and burglarize what happened. Was frank lied to me jerry about how much they got a big. Why is he got quite a bit. And we found that out through leap. Gary and so jerry came over my play. We were three based and call and the upper were saying. Hey dave thanks for a couple of bunks. I guess they so he can bring the saw like jewish four. I know where the shit's ad he says meeting. And you want to get it. Get it and i said let's do. And so you're all over to the house where the stuff was stash and. I talked about this in my book. This was the one of three big of that that i was directly involved in that conference. to flip and become a government with us. This was number one. This is a big deal amongst the family as you could say. At the time. I was part of that. That inner sanctum milady or not. I was and so after. I cut my arm going in and let all over the place and now was off. If i had to cut my arm everything would of went down differently. After that because of that they would search they would have wanted to look at and there was no way to conceal at cot so we had to come the bullshit start. That's all detail. All that in my book rated is a pretty wild ride after that anyway months later you asked me how i got involved with. Jean smith came forward in october of nineteen eighty the police the fbi metro. Geologists had nothing on franco. Lada in the hole in the wall. Gang like you were saying earlier. They drove around took pictures of us now front license plates on her car in all laughed and then they do background but bottom line was they had no cases. They had nothing what i call the i. Today's your lucky day. Because i need formation on stolen furniture which ended up sinking prank. A lot of the city. A lot of the drama went to the big versus thing with sal romano. That's how the. I spun the whole thing when they earn me. And kinda erase me from the record that left a pretty big hole. They had to fill up with something and so they fill it up what they sold it off with. Yeah i remember reading that. He had a bunch of stolen furniture in his apartment or something and then to albert again and he caught a case for that so that was pending during this time. And that's when they were planning the hole in the wall caper way. I remembered i may have my timing a little bit authors. That will the. I didn't exact timelines. He got arrested. In rate november of nineteen eighty. Now was the first blind strong and that was because of me. And i worked directly with met. That's who i work with at again. He told me all about that was one of the first congress as we have. You'll read about it in my book. Right mattie morale morality night in his wifi at bonneville me up by the janis we drove around. And i'll it was a being all. Never forget the day. I die because a lot was said in that drive that we took and now is the beginning of the anna for frank colorado and the whole wall gang. The chicago outfit. In las vegas really truly what you guys you listeners out there. I've been on that other side of that conversation. And it's you're asking as officer you're asking a man lag david here to risk everything to help you out and especially if you've been demand twist him and you got something on him. That's one thing but when you don't have anything and you're trying to you start like it ain't. I'll start liking you. And then i don't wanna put you in a situation where you're gonna get killed but yet i want to make this case. I want to take down frank collado. Because he's been a thorn in my side for quite a while. And then i know through him. I get the tony slattery. The ultimate goal here for those guys. That's interesting conversation. Because i've got to make you like me. I've to try to figure out how to protect you. The nice start lacking you as we start talking to little dance that you vote do and you end up former to relationship for want of a better term and so that's an interesting conversation that you guys had and i've been there so for coming over. Let me interject for your us..

"Welcome all you wiped out there studio gangland wire. I have a zoom call. David bowman david bowman is familiar with our friend. Frank kulat has fact. David bowman is one of the reasons that franco kuwata ended up in the witness protection program. Because without people like david bowman he might have kept on banging into out there in las vegas and he wrote a book called bringing down kuwata. The story casino. Couldn't tell you so. Welcome david glad to have you on the podcast. You're bigger so. I've just been seeing you. Lighten up on facebook and all the social media platforms here recently. But i hadn't heard your name before and you know david. I did a whole show on their the hole in the wall gang but i missed a big part of it. Now is happy with myself that i was able to talk to ernie davino back in new jersey who subsequently has died by the way i never did get a chance to get him on the podcast but he was an interesting character. Who was the guy said. The dying ernie davino spoke to. But you're just passed away sometime within the last couple of years. I'd say about a year ago. I'll be damned. I didn't know. I talked to frank. A little bit about it. And i think he was still alive back in twenty nine. He would have been in frank. They didn't exactly see i had i. They had different opinions about who actually started the whole wall when you read my book. You'll definitely understand. Ernie basically my contact the closest person. I doubt with hall and he was a pretty important. First since he was pretty much on all burglaries. He was the core of the home. The law game in lille allio guerrino. They were really good. Solid professional criminals. That work together. I think as a team before this hole in the wall gang thing came along from what they told me they. That's what i said. He was very good about giving us all the information myself. Jerry stanza joe to sony want a little saab division of the hole in the wall game and they asked me if i wanted to about a week. Jeffrey got its town. I wanted to work with jerry apps onto me. Ernie it ask him to ask me. And i said no flattered. But that's not really my bag as workless give them some information. I've didn't wanna be part of the crew or forklift interesting now. Let's go back to bit about your childhood. Where'd you come from. I see that you're from pueblo. Colorado originally and he ended up in las vegas now. How'd you end up in las vegas. David will my father was basically forced into retirement were to colorado fuel and iron. Cf and i still In pueblo colorado. And after that after thirty two years i had got really sick when i was in the eighth grade and i almost died in a i kinda miss about years of school so i was always very smart in school. I was tom my class. I don't know after i got sick. I kind of lost interest in school. I saw life in a different way. We just a combination of things. We decided to move out to las vegas. And that's how it started at moved doctor and seventy seven. I drove out my own. New seventy seven holes. Supremes us at me. Six olds cutlass. Supreme down yeah. Well that was generally seven was the last year that made them full shaya because remember all. The japanese cars came in and fuel source. And everything was downsized. Yeah and i drove out with my older brother. Larry and then my guess around in their car this october. Nineteen seventy seven david. You don't really strike me as a kind of guy that will become involved with professional criminals. Tell me a little bit about your criminal history because you are always working with the fbi not really saying. I was sixteen seventeen years old. I was born in nineteen sixty one. So i went out there i was in an exceptional sixteen seventeen eighteen year old. Got out there. My parents my mother especially kind of culture shock to them and so they laugh. My dad left me out vialva brother we just knew. I was mature. Can handle myself and dom and you know. He wanted me to start working every single once they laugh. Kinda get involved with she. People in my apartment complex we were living in and living over on east harmon avenue county by the university and blatantly different. Now there's highrise and stuff there now. But when i got out to these guys we started selling cocaine and by the time that i met the hole in the wall gang and frank collado i already well established myself in las. Vegas is three good big dealer. And so that's how. I made my stripes and st interesting so those guys from talking to ernie especially and frank too but they used to like to find guys like you and rip you off of that was robin. Drug dealers was one of their things. So how did you end up. Rip off frank. Now that they have their sights set on. You know me. And my friend joe to sony came into town back into las vegas in june like first week of june of nineteen eighty and jeans method. Just killed frankie blue state and a few months before that in a believe march nikki costanza. Junior was found in the trunk of his car. Shot in the head. Which was my friend. Jerry cassandra and frank's wife wang two stanzas younger brother. I was big deal. And so was killing frankie blues. David david david. Let me interrupt assistant. You know for the folks that don't know gene smith killing frankie bluestar. That was a big deal. If you saw the movie casino they reenacted that or the cops were following member of the laterals crew. They thought it was and the guy got out and he had something shiny in his hand and the copper shot him and killed him in the movie. They said it was a sandwich now. In real life that gene smith was a member of the metro intelligence and they were following costanza and several of the members the hole in the wall ganglia kaleida and anybody else's showed up and they saw this guy show up with illinois tags want to follow him away and see who he was. He thought they were trying to rob him and he did have a gun best. I can tell. Can't clifford told me that they trust that gun back to this guy's brother now. A lot of people argue with you about that but he killed his frankie blue stain so carry on with how you then ended up hooking up with lada. Yeah and so we got in that night and they pretty well put me in joe not actually physically but they kinda surrounded and really hammered est questions about both nicky nothing to do about blues team that they were all really hot and talk about gene smith. That's how they put it eat murdered boosting the heroes sandwich and story that they portrayed in casino which is not true. When i get into that later so anyway they wanted to know what we knew about. Who nikki junior was associated with or we knew anything. They really kind of cord that night and were ominous for information. They wanted to know what we knew about. Nikki junior who he was running with and if we heard anything or any they basically just wanted to find out who killed nick frank new but he was playing gains. It's time with negative and jerry and them because they knew that would be a problem if he was to tell them so but anyway it wasn't long after that that was one in chance tonight allows one of the most chance situations i've been in because like i said i already given the wrong answers or in life. Look in my eye. I would've gotten a beaten are taken to the desert of the bride. So with that topic i am. That's how i got juice. Stand as young as i was nineteen years old. In june of nineteen eighty. My friend jokes is sony was like mid twenties. Jerry standards like mid thirties..
