"Core machines to I'm sorry, a bunch of north machines to core and fortunately there, that seems to be working out well. I've reviewed their plan and it looks like that we're going to be able to stay energized based on what they've informed us so far. So Bruce, just looking at your background originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky, just so you know, I'm a huge fan of Bowling Green, Kentucky has spent a lot of time there. And I also note that you're in the United States Navy for four years on the surface warfare officer. So thank you for your service. My question to you here is, I mean, the Bitcoin mining, I mean, that seems like the nuts and bolts of the business. And I get that. And that's where you guys are focused in. But when you see a big exchange, like FTX blow up, what does that mean to you as an industry participant? How crippling is that if it is at all or in terms of credibility? There's nothing good about it. Other than, I guess it gets this out of the way. I thought as a Bitcoin miner, as I did not buy into the DeFi thing. When we were looking at different companies with our specs, I could not figure out what securities laws they were trying to comply with and found out they weren't. So there's some skadden for it there and watching it, it failed, but what I didn't realize is that our hosting companies were intertwined with the DeFi situation and that it's sucked some liquidity out of the coin and it sucks well, it's put some miners into a bad place because of the financing. The whole DeFi thing to me, I heard it was either late night TV or maybe on Bloomberg when somebody compared it to the Wright brothers finance and their company by selling frequent flyer miles. I loved it because I thought through the example and it is kind of what Sam bankman fried in the magic box we're talking about, you know, they just had here we got an idea. We got this idea. It was going to be a wing and we're going to run down a dune into the wind and we're going to fly and so what we think you should do is buy tickets on these planes that are going to shuttle people over around the earth. And it would have worked out well it really wouldn't work because the airline business turned out not to be so good and so forth. But even if they had done it, they had taken the time delay and flying and the first flight was a little bit and people would have got antsy. So they would have had to invent the stablecoin too and we would have got through that whole thing if the right. The irony is the Wright brothers could have financed their operations by solving frequent flyer miles because it wasn't illegal back. And you've been listening to Bruce Rogers, chief executive officer and president at LM funding with Bloomberg's Mike creek and Paul Sweeney. And coming up what

"Taylor and here's the call from Jeff in Pittsburgh Hello Jeff Yes Jim I just had a question These excellent BP is making such extraordinary profits Why don't they lower the price on gas in lower to profits and give us a break Well how altruistic of them I would daresay because they'd rather make the money but I'll defer to Rand Taylor I don't think there's any other way to explain that one The year a 100% right I mean this is what the world is all about right Is making money And these guys there's such a thing as fiduciary responsibility and you could say that they were in violation of the regulations regarding corporate activities if in fact you made a move as a CEO that was counter to the profitability of the shares owned by your shareholders I know they do that on certain other things Sometimes they do that in the interests of being woke but I'm not sure that there's any pressure on them to break those regulations in this regard Is there Well and also Jim and in all honesty we need to look at the flip side too There are plenty of times that the markets moved against them And they have gotten hammered So you know I can't really I can't totally blame them for making a lot of money in times like this because there have been times when they haven't So your point is valid yeah Here's Richard and Bowling Green Kentucky for Rand Taylor Yes thank you for taking my call I had a question concerning the drilling and inspiratory factors So my question is we know that as we drill for oil we replace the oil that was taken out with salinated water And my question is when it comes to plate tectonics volcanic activity earthquake activity what do you believe the consequence is of taking out that oil and replacing it with the water as opposed as an insulator meaning that should we be expecting more earthquakes to happen more volcanic eruptions as we take more oil out of the ground 22nd we blame either earthquakes or volcanic eruptions on fracking Iran You know I think the jury is out on that and I think it all depends on what side of that argument you want to pick and you can have plenty of evidence for either one I tend to think that tracking personally it takes place a mile below the earth's surface for the most part Which in terms of plate tectonics is pretty high I mean the plates that we're talking about are many miles below that And as far as the you talked about water coming back up that might be contaminated or something like that I mean again this is way out of my league This is not just a piece by any means But my galaxy I think a lot of that is propaganda and quite honestly politics Here's Randy in reading Pennsylvania Hello If you give me time Okay And in reverse order with the fracking I try to take the perspective we are going to affect the planet's crust any time we remove anything So even if we're just drilling for drinking water we're making a change Ken fracking the blame directly for earthquakes I guess All right well that's pretty much the question we just had posed here and keep in mind again that drilling for anything Water for oil the mine shafts and the like we are barely scratching the surface of the earth You want to get down to where plate tectonics occur you would be down ten 20 30 times deeper than we have ever drilled or dug anything ran I think you're a 100% correct with that I really can't add anything to it All right let's go to Donald and Jamestown New York hello We're going to go apply these electric cars and vehicles when it costs all that fuel and power fuels to make these batteries It was like we're already at the peak oil We did no more And that's all I wanted to go imagine Well first of all are we facing anything ram that could be considered the end of petroleum reserves as we know it I think you can look and say Jim they've been calling for peak oil now for pretty much for my entire adult life So I mean and they keep finding more innovative ways to get oil out of the ground And there's new discoveries every day So I don't even I don't buy the peak oil argument And I just think man is so smart And so inventive that they'll as long as there's a need and a desire for oil they're going to find it at least for the foreseeable future And then how will the increased production of electric cars affect all that we've been talking about Well I think that's definitely going to change it That's going to change a lot of things There's no question about it but a lot of first of all it's not going to happen overnight you know I don't care how many electric cars are on the road our electric vehicles on the road There are certain industries out there that are going to have a difficult time with electrifying themselves just because they need massive amounts of power to run these fees Something has got to fuel those power plants Well that's it And then you have to the batteries What are the batteries going to be made of There's obviously an issue with lithium where it's coming from Is that going to be the battery the future even And then the other question the other thing that you don't hear a lot of people talking about is a disposable battery Okay How are they going to dispose of them Lithium all lithium batteries are very difficult to dispose of We'll just jump in with our nuclear waste Yeah well the problem here's the interesting about nuclear weight Is that all the nuclear waste in the world that's ever been created from day one would fit into any major stadium in the country And in our country So that's the amount of nuclear waste that exists from the beginning of a nuclear reactor So if you're looking at battery my guess is you've already you've already surpassed that dramatically in batteries already I don't know that for a fact Yeah and again but what we do we know that that lag time between us being entirely electric and today first of all we never come but if it does it's going to be a very long time coming Yeah Good All right here's Donald and Jamestown New York hello All right Here is the pan in northern Michigan Hello pad Quick questions about what you call it the fuel locks Yeah That's the website for his company Yeah well back during the last democratic presidency when oil was up around a hundred bucks a barrel like it is right now here in Michigan You couldn't buy a job So I went out to the Balkan the center of the oil fields out in North Dakota And I had a trailer I was living in the retina When you turn the faucet on it would fart methane I could literally light the spicket on fire when I turned on the drinking water Okay You're saying that that is what was a direct result of the fracking I'm thinking so it was pushing the gas all right Thoughts read I know I know there have been a number of anecdotal instances like that and a lot of them again I'm not going to defend anything it's not my field of expertise But I know that there have been others there have an explanation for things like that in the past Yeah George is south of Pittsburgh tonight Hello George Hello gentlemen Great fair mister Byron as usual let's just see all the signs Thank you Well I'm.

"Security expert and Tom calls them from Bowling Green Kentucky hello Tom Hi hi how are you all We're fine and we hope that you are too and your friends and relatives Everybody is for the most part accounted for I'm about less than a mile from you can basically chart the path that the tornado throughout the entire town with the devastation and most of it is about half a mile away from me I'm very fortunate I'll tell you that I'm very fortunate Yes Again as I was noting earlier there's no question about the fact that tornadoes can be sometimes very precise in their damage There are some monster tornadoes like the one that hit Joplin Missouri a few years ago But the others can be very narrow in their impact and it just it's like a roll of the dice The thoughts of my career Yes no that's absolutely correct You know it can be a challenge to Jim as we know And as your caller just indicated these things come really close to home So again the bottom line is we hope that all of those folks that were affected by the no one understand the devastating effects of this of these types of storms and in this case these tornadoes and have plans in place to mitigate this way in advance right I think that's wondering Tom and bowly green has the Red Cross been in evidence I would assume they're there and fema and others I noticed that a lot of that today especially trying to volunteer there are federal and state employees out there and people taking other precautions especially fire trucks I guess gas lines whatnot and they're probably discovering more things but they're kind of keeping people out You can donate a certain tense on the sidewalk on the corners but they're generally keeping goods billions out All right Well good luck to you all you know We go to Rita in the Dallas next Hello Rita Hi I'm sure it would take me a long time to tell you but nobody has mentioned on October 19th 2019 I was sitting in my home office when a tornado hit I heard the windows breaking And there was rubble from the all the way down the street through in my yard All the way down the alley And I won't go into details but it was pretty awful and it hit Ten different areas of Dallas and I'm in the middle of town So we're not open stick somewhere Yeah And I'm sure your guest probably knows about that Well Mark Carrera is based in the Dallas Fort Worth area Mark go ahead Yeah that is correct I'll tell you what who would have ever anticipated that in living in downtown Dallas He would be subjected to such storms And I remember that But there's an example of where we have become so comfortable in the environment that we're in that it's made us so complacent that we don't anticipate any hazards whatsoever especially from storms And Dallas has been subjected to some major storms That would in particular that your Dallas collar was indicated has been indicated But if you think about this now even as you look at where most of these tornadoes are hitting and tornado alley it's actually shifted even further south which in this case south means putting us down more from the Oklahoma border back down towards Texas northern Texas So again it can happen in any place any given time We just have to prepare for that Yeah I've note that as a general rule hitting a major metropolitan area like that is relatively rare And I've often wondered if that is because the cities tend to generate heat and the upward heat waves tend to block the formation of the funnel clouds I mean I really don't know except that it seems like most tornadoes do hit less populated areas Yes I wish I could explain the weather phenomenon In that case but that's not where my level of expertise is but you're a 100% right Is it typically in metropolitan areas you don't have these types of conditions And a lot of that maybe has to do with obviously with the air flow and restriction So that's beyond me Jeff All right Tom and port Angeles Washington now good evening time Hello Jimbo Hello earn it guest I got a default position on this And that is codes I don't think you can do it in the suburbs You might be able to do it but downtown big cities establish big cities are out But out in the rural areas there's a coding problem Houses new constructions and constructions after disasters like this have to be pushed up in the ability of the structure to withstand higher and higher wind loads that come from these storms So and I was tired of hearing about this when I was about 30 So I looked up some alternative housing and there's a guy down in Texas He runs a business And he can put a 125 foot tome home or any other size you want your outbuildings and your equipment.

Americans across 6 states have spent the night without power because of the storms and twisters that cut a path through Arkansas Kentucky Illinois Missouri Tennessee and Mississippi Vampire novelist and rice is dead at the age of 80 Her first gothic fiction novel interview with a vampire was published in 1976 Later adapted into a 1994 screenplay for a movie with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt Rice's books have sold more than 150 million copies I'm Scott Carr This is Bloomberg Wall Street week with David Weston from Bloomberg radio This is Wall Street week I'm David Westin We are back with our real roundtable in New York with Larry summers of Harvard and Steve radner of Willard advisers So Steve let me turn to you as an investor on behalf of Mike Bloomberg One of the big stories not just this week but this year is the COVID virus Now we have the omen crown variant None of us I daresay our epidemiologists We can't know what's going on And by the way even if we were I don't know that we could predict what's happening with virus But as an investor what do you do about that Because it could well affect your investments Of course it has affected our investments And I would say in several decades of investing I've never been in a position where I had to analyze things like this that went way beyond the normal parameters you look at as an investor And so it is introduced a level of volatility into the markets It's introduced a level of inefficiency in the markets You see stocks reacting in strange ways and not anticipating events the way the market is usually good at And so it has made life very very complicated And economists to Larry one of the things that may well affect is the supply chain problem that you just mentioned in the last segment I think one of the big questions about any time we're talking pandemic is the way I like to say it is how does it affect the number of bartenders relative to the number of bar customers Because the thing about the pandemic is that it affects both demand and supply And so you know it's going to be bad for the level of output because there's going to be less demand unless supply But with less demand and less supply you don't know what it's going to mean for prices And that's one of the puzzles in a lot of the discussion Everybody said a year ago that year and a half ago that we needed all kinds of stimulus because of the pandemic coming Now there are many people who say the fed doesn't need to tighten because the pandemic is going to end And people are going to come back to work Those camp both are unlikely to both be proper logical propositions I think all Macron does introduce substantial uncertainty into the future and probably even more for emerging markets than for the United States and Europe It does certainly put an extra range of uncertainty And I also think that we shouldn't be so callous as to analyze it entirely through the prism of markets or the prism of GDP statistics even if we don't even if it doesn't have any effect on mobility and lock up policies and people are still flying planes are much more pervasive virus is going to have a set of human consequences Well it's fair point I know you'd agree with that Steve First and foremost a matter of personal health and safety But it does affect investments and does affect money as a practical matter You have investments around the world not just in the United States Are you seeing a divergence among the markets According to actually the COVID I mean right now we see very different approaches I mean China really locks down pretty quickly to try to protect themselves You're a part of it now are starting to really shut things down Do you see divergence in investment based on that Not real They are pursuing different strategies but I'm not sure whether the COVID strategies are the biggest driver of economic differences I mean for example China is an enormous amount going on in China President Xi we don't have time to talk about it today But he's fundamentally changing the nature of China's approach to the market economy That is far more important than the fact that China has its own approach to COVID versus how England approaches it or how Austria approaches or this or that So Larry what about that The approach of shutting down as opposed to vaccinating Two very different courses have different economic effects Yeah they do certainly while you're locking down I think what I have been struck by in general is that the policy seem to have more effect on the timing of the.

It was too honest and it did. It fit big tacking democratic party talking points and i wanna play a cut from that. Would you agree with that characterization buck of that conversation that we had with rand paul. Yesterday in the third hour of the program. It was an excellent chat. Because i think it allowed everyone to see the different levels of nuance that if you wanted to have a real conversation about what we should do and what. The risks are in this country. That's what it would require but instead it's always take the shot mask up shut up peasants. Don't ask any questions and people have understandably those who still believe in freedom and then the dignity that comes from being able to make your own decisions about your own life day day. They're really tired of this stuff. "I'm not much of a car person. But even i know that a corvette is a classic american car. It's one of those things that the name the image is captured. A certain vibe an icon of american nostalgia of american coolness since nineteen eighty-one. Every single corvette has been made in bowling green kentucky. Which is why the corvette museum is. The museum of these prices corvettes plunged into the songs in high school when the sinkhole happened. And i remember getting a notification on the phone while i was in class and i saw afterwards. A sinkhole had happened at the national museum. That's mariah hughes. She works in the museum's marketing department. Now not long after this happened when the museum was opened to the public. I actually came to see this in cold before they started doing any of the construction. So when you walked into that scott on really you could see all of these damaged. "Up. You know, she got half of this in their 48 of the one. I want her. So it's you split it down the middle. You just It just came about it differently. You might call one a little smarter than other but you had a tragedy too. Yes. So that makes it the whole process. So the good news is in 12 months. You did it. So how does your income go up $40,000 in one year? Um, you know, I had a child when I was 20 and so being a young mom work is not anything I'm scared of. So I picked up a second job and Um, the company that I work for was offering some bonus money in some incentives to go help at a hospital in Pennsylvania. So I took his many of those assignments as I could get even spent the entire Christmas holiday working in Pennsylvania in the hospital, just you know, and that really put us over the finish line, and, um, also, he sold everything that even stuff that was nailed down like I got home from work One day, he said. Did you notice that everything's off the walls? It was like, because I just don't care about things like that. So he had taken everything off the walls and was sold like and when we were combining households, we just sold everything. We took a bunch of stuff to goodwill. Um, he was a little nervous about cutting cable. But we cut cable. We cut satellite radio. We cut the gym membership, which was interesting because he had me work like, use me as a piece of workout equipment. One day I was like, What is this about? Um What else did we do? We shopped all of our insurance to make sure you get the best rights on everything. Um, gosh, we, you know, just literally everything you teach. We just walked it down down. Every little wanted to make it work for me when you look back on it to you and someone comes up to you, and they say How do you get out of debt in 12 months? What do you tell me? The main thing they have to do is to me. You both have to be on the same page. A man you have to work together. If you've got one person that's 100% in and the other one's not. It's not gonna work out very well. And we were both there. We both wanted it bad, you know, and especially and I felt so bad that you know, I know we both brought dead in there. But I just felt so bad that she had to be part of my dad. But we're married. You know, we put our accounts together which we've never done in our previous relationship. So you know it just It worked out. God centered to me at the right time. And it was perfection. Wow. Hey, you know what? He sent her to you to me. Oh, yes, He did, Right? Yes. Um, you know he was the he was the answer to so many prayers. And here's what school One of the biggest challenges with when folks Get married, and they've had previous relationship from the hardest part is how do we get on this? How do we find a new path? I've got this path experience a manual launched out of the gate on $100,000. Gazelle. Intense mission? Yes. And now you. You guys forged a path. You're just looks that locked man. He just plays a trail through the forest with you Just put your head down, and he's a good guy to get behind right? Because he's over. The head cleared a path and now you're off to the races, you know, Funny story. You know, I have a 20 year old daughter, and he has a 14 year old daughter. And, um Is it December of 2019, The youngest daughter wanted to get her ears pierced, and she had plenty of money to do it. So we took her to the mall, and when we get to the ball, she starts cried. She wants Daddy to pay for it, and she's got her own money. So I said No. You know, you've got your no money You can pay for this. Then she tries to negotiate. Well, I'll pay you back later. Or can you pay half of it? I'll pay half of it. So the crying went on and on and on. And finally he leans over and he whispers, you know, Should I just pay for it? So you know, took this big hand. I was like, No, we're gonna get through this like this is because I teach 14 chain crying about this. This is a teachable moment. But since that time we've put her through the homeschool curriculum, and so she's got her own. She's got her emergency fund. She's she's working for commission to do chores.
